The creature
Demonic in nature
chaos and death incarnate
Up to no good judging by their appearance
Depending on the time i can help still
Whenever
Its the only reason i play currently
Helping penances
bless
Reminds me of Pipi, very nice
It's a character from an animation on youtube "The legend of Pipi"
It looks like those furry ocs
The proto something or whatever
protogens suck, nobody will change my mind
true
half furry half robot, as much as i love mechs and drawing furries/creatures i hate protogens with my whole being
same with synths tbh
but this one mostly because my machine sona was compared to it while being a totally different thing called simply an Ethernal Machine/Glitch after being broken
ah yes, 40k pipification, only 5$
choose your fighter
pipification
fumoification
sketch for one of my characters (vet)
reminds me of V for Vendetta a little bit, nice work
yea hes not got the prettiest mug
you definitely drew him a prettier face 😄
art does spark joy
creator in game... not so much
every game ever
also more psyker from my boy
elderscrolls oblivion had a good creator for faces, tho the base face did suck to build off of....
Was going for Death Korps vibes with Midjourney. Glad they added the Armaggedon cosmetics
havent played. not a fan of singleplayer games, which is funny because I enjoy campaign modes and will play them threw befor engaging in multiplayer
i can't tell what i like honestly, i jump around co-ops and multis (but not so much, left apex due to shit game menagement and community, stayed in paladins for 7 years and still being a masochist about it) but I do enjoy singles like ruiner or hotline miami or some boomer shooters
cyberpunk was only big singleplayer game and only one with a creator for me tbh because it's not my type, i had it because of setting and aesthetic (and own simping reasons)
but aside of that and lack of any experience with creators - darktide got a really fun and good one too
Only - for me are lack of body scars and lack of adding more muscles
BUT height is a fun option, never saw it before anywhere
yeah, hight is a Super rare slider to see. mostly because it messes with balancing in pvp shooters
Also, depending on the nature of the game, animations
and 3d modling. cloths clipping is a big issue in games that let you change more than just the face
best character creators I've ever seen were in Fallout 4 and Sims 4. Just like using the entire RGB color wheel for coloring instead of preset faces, being able to shape the face in a ton of small ways, in an organic way UI-wise by dragging body parts around, allowed for limitless expression and variety. Imagine if, for every face in Darktide, you could also modify it piece by piece, that'd be rad as hell but also blow the budget
I just want the option to make my Ogryn “Shrekt” to have green skin
Guess I’ll need to eat some plague residue to turn green
part of me wants to reinstall Sims4, but thats a rabbit hole i dont need to be falling into right now XD
fun lil doodle i did cuz i love this game lol
some furniture things
Might have to find this room in-game and take some screenshots of my own, some of the details are lost in darkness 😅
Not specific to Darktide but in light of Henry Cavill starring and producing in some 40K shows, I (and Midjourney) give you Commissar Cavill
Drovas not like hurt people, is just easy. Never lose in pit. Suppose lose one time, forget and break little man too much. No more pit now, only many sick man to crush. Still not lose.
AI art?
Yes, midjourney. Took a bit to get there though

https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/529790784866615316/1053881807562616913/image.png?width=397&height=473 drew me and my friends' characters small little psyker friend
Nice artstyle
Unique style, very cool!
Distinguished mhlhmnphnphpgmp
Sketched, inked and watercolored my first character being head deep in peril.
Giving me Flintstones vibes, like that era of cartoons
dis cute, I like
wesome
xD i love this artstyle
Cia-Cia-Ciaphus Cain
I adore this art style
smaller scale stuff today, feels like less progress until you look closer
i wanted to make a purity seal but then realized it would look dumb just as a render floating around by itself so i quickly whipped up a hammer to go along with it :) used the thunder hammer for reference but didnt just make a 1-1 copy of it, im happy with it at least, especially as a quick day project for practice and stuff
ogryn or what
thanks
love this rendition of the Steel Legion gear!
Thanks you all for your kind words lmao
My dude looks like a Gears of War character than 40k lmao
If Dom killed the truck instead of it blowing up and killing him
In this timeline Dom picks up the truck and throws it into the explosives
We all can agree that AI art sucks shouldn’t be a thing
Except ofc the very few would disagree
It's more like that "I made this" meme than that
You’re not wrong
I just like that the “40k” arm is dark, and the “dune” arm is sandy-colored
well in dune every machine that can calculate shit is illegal. In 40k computers are still allowed, but it must be strictly regulated, and, well, prayed to.
Or, if you wanna lean into psych-horror, ||a poor bastard that’s been mind-wiped & bio-hacked into there||
Those servo-skulls you see floating around or hacking into the access terminals? ||that’s a dude.||
They lean into it with the medicae terminal guy.
I got a friend who’s into Giger and cosmic horror, and I’m biting my tongue over here trying not to spoil the medicae lines for him
"See commissar, it's not Artificial Intelligience if we use a servo-skull for processing! It's just intelligence"
artificial intelligence when natural stupidity walks in
Here take this nice art I have.
Where’s the “For The Emperor!” button? 😭🙏🏻
oh shit that looks cool
Ikr!
AYOO this is true? like those comes from the warhammer movie in works?
Fair nuff, I'll tinker more later
It's far too early for actual artwork... it's more like fanfiction or AI-Art
I mean, the actual news of Amazon aquiring the rights is basically 3 days ago. Far too early for anything noteworthy
yep i heard the news and tbh i look forwad to it
A mug i made with absolutely nothing on it that gives proof im a heretic
I am a loyal servant to the throne and what not, heresy is cringe
Hmmm alright checks out
I would never add the symbol of nurgle anywhere and such accusations are very out of place
How do y’all even know what it looks like, hmmm?
Maybe you are the heretic!
Now listen we don't have to go too far here... Oh just more thing, I'm a part of the inquisition and that is a symbol of Nurgle
Now we can do this the easy way
Or we can do this the hard way
Now ya see, I would buy that excuse
but you said you made this mug
now that typically means that it belongs to you
even if it was made for another individual, your hands forged it
Hmmm
funny you say that
there is no Rottigus that has been reported in this sector
Lmao
FUCKING HERETICS
Yo dude nurgle is like pretty chill you should like join it or something
Counter argument, you have a demon as your profile pic
I would never follow a chaos god
it’s totally like i don’t have a tattoo of nurgles insignia on my arm
Get got
Me neither I’d be out in front
I'm honestly not sure if I post this in memes or here, so I'll post it here for now
All I have to say it, the bolter has every right to fuck, but Fat Shark really did come in here like "Yeah, but what if it fucked MORE?"
I'm gonna do a little fix
I'm sorry my inner editor is annoying
I don't really have any good editing software, so thanks for cleaning that up
He'd make a great Eisenhorn stand in
Indeed
Correct its ai art lol
WIP of an art by Astrubal for a cross between soulsborne and Warhammer: turning a knights armor set into voidsman armor. It’s a helmed wip but thought I’d share it anyhow.
So sick man
I heard there was some heresy in here
Aye, thanks for the support. If I had any choice in the matter, this is what my zealot would've looked like
Or at least put him in any variant of void armor: navy needs some representation on the ground
What we need are power axes for Zealots my dude. That would fit them so well
Aye, thats what Im saying! We got power mauls and power swords...its only fitting axes be brought into the fray. Plus, the force effect would work super well with armor piercing.
Doubly so if its a two handed axe like the axe jacks or a battle axe style weapon
In the fantasy variant, the character wields a greatsword and axe...but here, its all axes. Axes and buckshot
Angery lass
Mordian Iron guard WIP
No rights to the song. Image made with MidJourney (AI Art).
my bf made a meme, i wanna share
Is this AI art?
Need more rejects just straight chilling
I liked the snippets in the cutscenes of seeing em just hang out going about their day
Some playing cards and whatnot
notice the gauntlets and hands, the AI is starting to fall apart in those areas
plus nonsensical gun
Why do they say they made their friend into an ultramarine
Just some Admech art I have been making with the help of abhorrent machine intelligence
ivan klimenko delivers
ironic isn't it
im designing some tattoos (and later more body scars) for vayron
gotta make letters more fitting tho but 1 gonna be done
Kin you're doing great

im too lazy to draw a proper ref sheet yet
all back scars would be from her younger years
i won't make her ref this year for sure but hopefully i'll do it someday
Still waiting on tempestus scion armor so i can make my character properly
one day
Helmless lad
Reinhart overwatch
Ngl this his kinda reminds of the vostroyan firstborn
The 1960s scifi epic of Skitarii fighting on Armageddon, directed by Henry Cavills great Grandfather
these are genuinely dope
these are starting to look like genuine admech art almost
I assume these are all ai generated (thus the oversized shoulders, backpacks, and rounded shapes. Drawing from space marine art)
Yes, they are ironically AI Art of Admech
Ehhh, they don’t look very admech to me? They’re the right color, but admech stuff is basically never painted
Admech is exposed wiring, gray steel, and red robes
It's not really uniform across all of Admech. Not to mention not all Admech is exactly the same as the Martian posterboy Admech
Fair, that is the one thing that is in fact painted
Not really fanart so not the correct channel for it, but I love this piece, it represents Admech for me
Looks like some tanks are painted as well
what AI is that?
midjourney probably
midjourney looks different
first few look like a totally different bot
some more ai admech for ya
What AI app is that?
midjourney
IT was midjourney!

They give me the vibe like they’re more like the Abominable Intellegence from the Dark Age of Technology
very 30k admech or darkmech
Feudal world guardsman
scale patterning looking good
This looks incredible. Did you make them?
Ah nah, just found it. I can link the artist rq though!
https://www.deviantart.com/l3monjuic3
Link to their page
This guy is amazing
Oh im a sucker for the sallet helmet. So good
Aye, im a sucker for sallet helms
That and fur pelts
I’m a sucker for any actual art cause it’s the kind of stuff that inspires me to continue improving my skills and at some point exceed my skills and goal as an artist
AI art cringe
trying 40k imagery in stable diffusion 2
Its fun for those of us that have no talent
Yeah I just wouldn't post it here
Have you considered doing bad doodles instead anyway
Like no joke I would rather look in here and see a bunch of scrap paper art from people who just started trying to draw this month than any amount of weirdly similar pieces that look good on a passing glance that I can identify as AI "art" when I look down and see someone stuck the hand in a blender
ye same
Hating ai art is a silly bandwagon
Its just higher tech tracing
Its not the antichrist
Now if someone sells it. That's another story
lmao, I know a lot of artists and not a single one would publically share stuff they traced. They'll say do it to help learn how to draw but passing around art you made via tracing is considered shitty so thats not a good defense
Eh tracing is the comprison for its relation to actual art
If thats its comparison then it should also be compared by how its treated, which seems to be about the same (poorly)
ye, this is a channel for showing off your works - no one has anything against it if you use AI to make a meme and post that in memes, but this is an art channel
I see it as computer mashups that like or not are not 1:1 with sources aka: idea generators
Cool then use it to make an idea and then draw the idea, dont post the idea draft in here
I like seeing these random creations. Don't give orders.
fair, but not what this channel is for
Anyway lots of spaces to complain that AI tech exists, and AI art is still images so whether it belongs is a policy argument for elsewhere
I dunno i agree that it should be posted in the memes channel
Your pov kinda isn't the one setting policy though
I mean sure but i was just trying to encourage more people to actually draw before you came in getting upset about the "ai hate bandwagon"
exactly, all we said is that we prefer doodles over AI art
we're not trying to get it removed or anything
Drawing is great
AI art is neat
That's all there is to say ig
(side note but considering how many artists fuck up hands to the point of it being a recurring joke...)
with AI art I appreciate the programs and coding process that went into turning words into art
with artist drawn art I respect the time and effort that went into it
Def

Imo AI art is fine as long as it is declared as such.
And if someone gets mad about AI art, I'm like thats just your opinion bruh.
no
its not ok
it uses artists art to make its "art"
its fine as a tool but nothing more
if someone posts it here, its w/e
but its not okay tbh
just like tracing, it requires 0 skill to type a few commands into midjourney
its good for practice/tool just like tracing (if you're willing to learn from the techniques that you copy)
but you dont post it/share it
People shit on paper and call it art.
There’s no talent, just skill
it should
"Art" doesn't have a very steep entry bar
okay
then draw
its better than typing commands
and its appreciated
especially if you try to improve
its literally no effort to type commands
and it uses other peoples art as a basis
without credit
and without permission
I remember seeing two AI prompt mfs fight over eachother because they used exact same prompts to generate few images
First thing that appeared in my head was Sly Cooper Honor among thieves
fair use covers the transformation into something else, so strictly speaking you don't require permission
What?
and i cant argue that point since I havent read up on fair-use laws
but im pr sure thats not the case
it may be though since i havent read up in a while
One thing is that if there weren’t any actual art then AI generated versions of said art would only come from like photography which would limit itself a lot
Oh well
There was a ruling like yesterday that AI art doesnt have the same protections actual art does because a human didnt make it lmao
So fair use probably wont apply to it either
Its not legally allowed to sample art then?
reverse is also true, since a human didn't make it, noone "stole" anything lol
Not How that works
You stole it to put it in a program
Just cause a computer virus isn't a person doesn't mean Its not illegal what it does
Lol
the person who programmed and shared the virus is to blame, not a string of code
It was specifically that you cant copyright claim/protect AI art, sampling is still legal, but my point is that its not hard for a court to go from there with precedent to "that also means fair use doesnt apply"
Yeah
AI art tbh is just a fad like NFTs
It's cool as a tool
But it will never be taken seriously like a professional art piece
At any skill level
At the end of the day, you came up to me and showed me a cool picture. I’d say that it looks good. Quite frankly couldn’t care where it came from
I mean, In an art chat
You should
Cause people will and do pass off AI art as their pwn
When it's infact
Not
You can think it's cool
But you can still be aware it's not really art
Yes
Yes
Yes
Keep improving and you’ll do sickass shit my dude
Congratulations on your first piece
My main problem with AI generated images is that they all look the same because when you see 3 you can recognise all of them and anytime you see any you know it didn’t take effort at all
Yes
Keep trying and you'll get better champ!
You should look at some tutorials for actual bodies
Stick figures are great for skeleton sketches!
Stick figures are great
Yeah, I don't like AI art. It doesn't look all that good and there is no effort into it.
Did ya'll read about the guy who "wrote" a book using AI and also used AI to make art for it
It took less effort to make than tuning the correct amount and combination of keywords for midjourney, so how do you qualify art again?
AI generated writing is insane how accurate that actually is to a human
My reaction to people defending AI art because they can't be arsed trying to learn to draw
Its not a blender amalgamation of other people's work but your own effort
My computer made it, I just waved an input device
Slaanesh-thingy
Yet you provided input in the form of stilus, unlike literal text
Which stilus is an analogue of physical pen and paper, using software to make it easier by allowing you the wide range of tools that would cost thousands in real life
Using real skills learnt from real physical art
Yeah it's almost kinda creepy
Which is bland and effortless
But defend your shitty text prompt art jackass
Take the time and effort to draw. Learn skills.
Hell, if you want, I can send you tutorials and give you tips
But don't defend AI art like it requires skill
It's such a disservice to actual artists
I'm just tired of seeing borked AI art with mutant hands and people telling me it's good
Who claimed it does? That's your own strawman you are raging against.
I think AI wrinkles are the best
Absolute cursed mess
"What do you mean you don't appreciate 3 arms on a clearly layered AI art"
"Guys do you like my AI art" and the character has 6 disjointed fingers and an extra arm
Sure if you're into mutants
Accurate 40k human
AI gives people without skills or talent the ability to visualize their ideas in a halfway presentable manner. Noone claims it requires skill or effort, that's the exact reason people make AI "paintings" because they would not bother otherwise.
I have not seen anyone brag about AI results either, that sounds like another strawman, if anything people like the results and feel like sharing them.
I want a person to try to secretly try to make an image with that prompt on it and see if anyone notices if it’s intentional
I have.
Okay, then don't post your AI art that you use for visualisation in an art channel when everyone here draws lol
I have seen people defend their ai art like it's theirs.
And yes, people brag about it. It's anecdotal sure, but I've seen it enough times
Lol
Very cool. Should I ever switch from AoS to 40k I'll defintely try kitbashing something like that, really makes them look more 40k and less Starship Troopers
Feudal world guardsmen are super cool
A lot of them just wear straight plate
Like 1400-1600s plate armour
On the flip side though, AI art does and can have its use for conceptual ideas and inspiration
And are given chain-halberds and lasguns
Yeah
Shouldn't be too hard to find/convert...
It's a tool
I can’t draw, I can paint minis but I suppose that’s essentially the 3D version of colouring between the lines
However, I will not post my generated concept art into this chat
Painting minis requires a lot of skill
Helps visualise yes, great for references, but don’t line track or just send the generated image cause that’s just blatantly bad. It’s a great TOOL to USE for new artists to get the hang on the system
And patience 😅
I mean mini painting is its own thing, you still need to keep colour coordination in mind
You will be surprised how much effort and technique that's translatable to pen and paper
I don't demonise it completely I just don't like people claiming it is the same as non ai art
Need to understand shading
Effects of lights
Highlighting
Dark contrasting
Paint consistency
It's a lot of skill that's exactly the same as digital/pen paper art
Thank you,
You won't be able to draw a body/human, but you'll be damn amazing at colouring it
Rendering colours are it's own pandora's box
So don't sell yourself short lol
I will admit, I had a marine picture someone sent me and I changed some of the colours to add hazard stripes on the leg, that’s about the extent of my drawing I ever did
Also can we please end this discussion anytime soon? I'd rather have this channel flooded with AI art than turned into a digital novel
Some 40k stuff I've drawn
That's fair. Just wanted to say my 2 pence
Enjoy the art folks
Very nice, I love the one kneepad, suggests that she spends a lot of time in this position, waiting for some nids to get smoked
Yep
I like drawing well equipped guardsmen
Cause they're sure as hell not conscripts
Also the shoulderpad on the forward facing side only
Yeah!
I'm glad you noticed the details
@analog geyser Belated but I really like the art you've posted here - nice style
Cheers
it doesn't fit meme channel becuase it's an inside joke
but
pov: you're a veteran sharpshooter, wondering where tf did psyker and zealot went in the middle of a mission
LOL
Always knew those Zealots and Psykers were in bed with each other, but not in that way
THEY'RE GETTING AMMO, NOTHING MORE I SWEAR
The Demonhost is considered "ammo"

Can't wait for a Demonhost of Slaanesh
😳
bless
Made some purityseals
nice
Woah cool
Glory to the navy
psyker, using stable diffusion 2. I merged two checkpoints: dreamlike diffusion and anything v3.
not sure that quite has 40k vibes tbh
i think it fits for an unsanctioned psyker
Doesn't look 40k at all
Barely imo, unsanctioned look more insane or terrifying than a sharply dressed mad scientist hair Thor
I am was going for this https://www.artstation.com/artwork/L3BoLA
seeing AI art in a fan art channel feels kind of insulting
is it cool? i guess so
but did you really, make it or put any effort into the creation of something, to justify placing it alongside the labors of love people have made for a franchise they enjoy?
shrug With all respect to the actual artists posting neat stuff they've made themselves, but if this channel is for posting random fan art by other people too, AI images fall under the same general principle of "someone likes its quality, regardless of maker".
i believe the intention of a fan art channel is typically to post things you have made
But that's not how it's been used
otherwise it would just go in other media channels
yes
we had this convo before plenty of times
AI art is fine as a tool but i dont think its a right fit for the art channel
yeah
was in a mission but
even if a channel isn't being used as it was likely intended to be,
should we then ignore the desires people have to use it properly?
i'd prefer not having to ping moderators
i'm just voicing my thoughts on the matter
Like I don't think AI art is art in the sense of "human creativity" but I think it's close enough to "fan images" to fall into the category of fan art especially with people posting work by artists from elsewhere. Anyway to avoid relitigating Artist v AI art yet again <@&735928989146939404> Does AI art belong here and if not which channel does it go in?
Uhhhh, well there’s no rule against it. I can inquire with the CMs though
Gotcha, ty, there were suggestions of another channel (Could also rename this one to 'fan art and images' maybe to avoid confusion?)
Your stuff has nice personality to it btw
do you want constructive feedback?
yeah shoot
really like the mood in the 2nd, though the hat is a bit confusing to me design wise. The right hand's knuckles could use a bit more detail- and a bit of texture or like, stray lines on the brown straps would really make them pop?
The stock of #1's rifle is a bit odd where it joins to the body
and well, hands are the artist's bane
mind these are all random nitpicks, the level of detail/greebles is pretty cool and the effort to add personality is definitely a highlight
I take it you're going for a bit of a "tacticool"/realism aesthetic?
I like how it can recreate 80s movies and stuff
Not like drawings
But stuff that would be hard for even a artist to recreate
Like this
AI as a concept art/stills from movies that never existed generator is definitely one of its best uses, yeah
I believe AI has potential but honestly the ruling that it's not copyrightable is best for everyone- allows it to stay as what it should have been: inspiration and letting people visualize things that don't exist
I did geralt from an 80s fantasy movie
As an example
@quaint tundra i also used it to turn my fren into a ps2 character
ha
Space Marine: Soulsborne edition
if you cry about ai art, you're only telling people youre not good enough to be an artist
They not gonna like this one lmao
Look phrase that sort of complaint carefully because there's no sense being the mirror image of Luddites accusing people of NOT BEING GOOD ENOUGH TO LEARN ART!111
There are legit reasons to want AI art to be handled carefully
An A.I. cannot create "art". An A.I. lacks a conscience, a soul; it lacks the ability to "want": the ability to create outside of its programming boundaries. It is lines of code which uses keyword strings to generate images based off a finite database of preexisting images: art which others have already created.
It creates nothing of its own, simply reusing assets readily available.
For now.
Do not fear such primitive machines. They are far below your own abilities to create art of your own accord; a style and feeling put behind every line you create, more than to simply fulfill a purpose.
Currently it's merely machine learning, calling it "AI" is technically incorrect.
An A.I. will never be able to replicate what you create.
It isn't intelligent, at least not yet.
mimicry is the highest form of praise
Do not give in to ponzi schemes like "donating" to causes to stop an invisible enemy. You have the power at your own fingertips.
Be confident in oneself.
platitudes aside, the real threat of AI art is someone like Disney that owns their IP using it to replace artists
That doesn't make any sense, from an illustrator in the industry's standpoint, but it also is a non-issue. They're already a corporate, morally-bankrupt, monopoly overlord.
They're already soulless.
Oh, they will. Not only will they be able do anything humans can do but better, faster, more sophisticated.... but not in the next 50y at least.
Said from the mindset of one who stops creating.
That's flawed logic.
Creating such an AI is also an art of creation 😉
Precisely.
I never said it wasn't.
The A.I. itself is the art.
It's ability, it's speed, it's reasoning. The logic it comprehends when it creates is interesting.
Yet it is also flawed. Much like the "art" it creates.
It does not know what "art" is, it just compiles images together.
AI art is for chodes
ok bai
Theoretically an "actually intelligent" artificial intelligence is already possible. the hardware is what holds humanity back, at least current gen. That's why most corporations work towards shortcuts, limiting scope, simplifications.
But a true AGI is something that can be designed with present day IT principles.
Let people enjoy what they want, how they want it.
Who says they aren't already in use?
The fact that humanity still exists.
You think too pessimistically.
Welcome to 40k.
Hey, I'm still alive and I get paid to cleave through Poxwalkers, I'm doing alright.
From a scientific perspective, there's plenty of plausible explanations for why AGI would be the end of humanity.
Example: Neanderthals.
But I guess that debate is unsuited for the fanart chat 😅
good way to win folks over
good let it end

cope prompt user, the only people who say this are seething that no-one takes a 3 second prompt seriously
yep
sorry for the late response, i was heading to bed for work
hands are my bane
need to practice more
The only gripe with AI art I have is this misconception some people have come to embrace that entering prompts into midjourney and shitting out pieces in a few seconds has now qualified them to make a career in art viable and then they go and try to sell that to clueless people who will only pay them for as long as they don't know they could pay a few dollars for the software and enter those prompts themselves
Something as simple as revisions completely shatter the "AI artist" 's ability to compete or contribute in a professional production environment since the guy with no art background and midjourney has no understanding of the elements of an art piece to be able to deconstruct it in his mind and apply any number of changes requested to him by the client
i've said it before but, as a concept, ai generated images are pretty neat
but the concept of using art, explicitly against artist's permission, and then rubbing it in their faces in many cases
ethically, ai image generation is not exactly in a good state
it's like if someone made a game map comprised entirely of assets made by others that were not permissed for usages, each texture and model by a different creator
wouldn't you feel a bit shitty if something you worked hard on were blatantly used in a project someone is making money off of without your permission?
yeah, it might just be one miniscule piece of what's been put together, but does that make it fair or any better to you, or the literal tens of thousands of people in the same boat?
Kamiya is a whackjob, but he got one thing right. Blocking people.
Kamiya?
The guy who did Bayonetta, and Viewtiful Joe among a few.
Loves blocking people on twitter
lmao gerald
we do a little trolling
Selling AI art is pure delusion ye
People do that which is incredibly degrading
AI generated images isn’t owned by anyone and anyone who calls themselves an artist when they only use it as a final project piece instead of a tool to improve your actual skills to create art is a waste of potential and uninspiring
AI should always be a tool not the entirety and just the entirely
I havent seen anyone calling themselves an artist with that
we had a case like this before on this server
they forgot to delete the prompts from the image's name though
Which is hilarious
i would buy, shit looks baller af
I create better art than you, I think I know what I'm talking about. Stop projecting onto me because you aren't good enough as an artist to beat a limited A.I. program.
damn bud, you seem like a piece of shit
and what kind of a response is this?
these are all reasons people hate AI images in art channels
Firstly, pretty yikes/cringe take.
Secondly, stop dragging the argument and know when nobody is agreeing with you about A.I art, we don't have any rules saying you can't post AI art here but dont come shoving it in the face of the actual artists that post their content here.
You have pronouns in your username and you're saying I'm cringe?
lmao okay
Last warning, drop it.
also not sure what pronouns in my name has to do with this but okay
So slightly off topic question, but this seems like the right place to ask it: I’m trying to find some Iron Warriors art to use as reference for miniature painting, does anyone know any artists or could point me in the direction of some?
It would be appreciated
what are you looking for specifically?
Any, just getting a bunch together so I can use them for deciding what would work best
Okay thanks
no problemo
I feel like this is the stage similar to how people complained about photography in it's early stages.
Sure it's no effort compared to painting the observed object, but it's certainly a lot more convenient to make
If your set of beliefs is based on shaming and hating certain people, you may want to rethink
"Cringe" is arbitrary, superficial, closed-minded. Labeling things as "cringe" says more about you than about them.
An AI generator person telling an artist that they aren't good enough to be an artist because they don't like AI stuff is not exactly a good hill to die on
so yeah
I think ai art is cool a lot of the time but it shouldn't really be on the same level as someone who spends tons of time on something. It's the same reason I prefer to paint my own minis rather than get them painted online with a push of a button
More or less this yeah.
All that said, it's still technically wrong to call it "AI art" since it isn't really artificial intelligence. It is machine learning.
Sounds intelligent enough to be considered heresy to me. Burn it with promethium
It's about as intelligent as "you pull a lever, it gives you an image"... except that the thing has a lot of levers.
But then again, "anything sufficiently advanced is indistinguishable from magic"... and most forms of magic are heresy.
I mean, technically it isn't heresy... even what Horus did wasn't "Heresy" but "Apostacy"... but trying to explain that to WH40k fans is like trying to explain Quantum Physics to an unaugmented Ogryn.
i'd mentioned it before but, i imagine a lot of artists don't hate ai image generation for what it is, but how it works
if it were an actual, literal AI creating something from scratch, that'd be cool
but as it stands, it just utilizes existing art, in its entirety to create what it does
which is less than cool since probably a vast majority of people whose art is being used, didn't consent, or explicitly do not want it being used
then folks like come along and poke fun at people for not wanting their work to be used against their consent like that's something to be ashamed of
like, yeesh
From my observation, most Artists don't hate ML-Art itself but how it exploits the economy at the core of art-based "industry".
ML-Art remixes. It can not recreate the art it learned from (and if it actually could, it would have failed its most fundamental goal).
But artists feel threatened because ML-Art "endangers" their financial baseline; not because their own art is bad but because ML-art can create things that are "good enough" fast - fast enough and decent to cause a drop in commissions, which a lot of artists rely on. But if the entire field of art wasn't reliant on being "profitable", I'd argue that all of that would change.
Painters (whose goal was replicating reality) felt threatened by photography because that machinery was quicker.
if the datasets these AIs were based upon were ethically sourced, i imagine there'd still be some people who shunned AI generation
but i personally doubt the outcry would've have reached the levels it has
not sure how
should people be okay with their work being used without permission?
Why not? Because Copyright and "intellectual property" are so ingrained in our minds that we can't even think outside of the box anymore?
even as a kid i remember one time being upset about a classmate putting stickers on a drawing i made
The concept of "Intellectual Property" is a bullying tool. It harms progress, it hinders creativity.
because i worked hard on it, and it's a very basic rationale to not want people messing with things you've owned or created
It's a bullying tool in the employ of a greedy economy.
that wasn't my 7 year old mind thinkings about how it's my intellectual property and i have copyright over the piece i created
it's just, a basic reaction
to consider people wielding intellectual property to desperately attempt people from utilizing their works without permission, payment, or anything of such nature as bullying is
frankly ridiculous
you speak as if humans are not emotional, and art is not an emotional process for many people
Humans are emotional... but most emotions are harmful, self-destructive even.
and an attempt to protect one's own creation is self destructive?
Yes.
Life is growth. The more you try to keep what you created in exactly the shape you created it, you condemn it to DEATH.
and so because of how you feel, you believe the creator should not be allowed to choose how their work lives on, even if it means for it to be death?
should all paintings become public property the moment they are finished, and to burn it be a violation of law?
to suggest a creator should not have ownership and control over their creation is totally, and utterly ridiculous
and frankly i'm not going to even entertain the notion in a serious argument
Humans individually are very limited in their capabilities. But if you combine their abilities, their creativity, their thoughts and dreams, they can create something that none of them individually would be capable of.
and so all should be forced into this collective machine?
none should be permissed to be off on their own and entertain their own passions and goals?
A heavy-handed approach has never been a good idea.
even if, comparatively minor and inconsequential?
and you would call AI scraping tens of thousand of non-consenting artists anything other than heavy handed?
Enabling is better than than prohibiting. Empowering and Insipiring is better than hating and shaming.
empowering and inspiring is only useful for a task generally considered morally acceptable
Okay, example. You go to an art gallery. The pieces of art shown there are not yours, you don't own the rights to them... but you'd still be inspired by them in one way or another, no?
yes, but i would not take a copy and feed its exact data into a machine so that it may create a new piece of art
a machine and a mind work very differently, and the machine works off extracting exact data
But you did take a copy of that piece of art with your eyes and stored it in your brain.
frankly, i'm just beside myself at this point
i won't bother continuing with this
untrue; apostasy is simply renouncing your beliefs where heresy is having views that severely contradict the established tenets of one's faith (or ideology in this case lol)
horus didn't just renounce his allegiance, he straight up tried to build his own shit
arguably it was more comparable to a coup than any church schism, because heresies were smaller in scale and typically confined to regions determining what small subset of their faith was best for them
What Lorgar did was apostacy. He rejected and renounced the Imperial Truth of Big-E.
in favor of worshipping the four immaterial """gods"""
it'd be apostasy if they fucked off, but they actively try to subvert the current system, changing out the chairman with varying levels of tentacles
Not as different as you think. Your brain doesn't store an exact imprint of the art and neither does the ML tool. It stores data on how to replicate certain aspects of what it was shown and how those aspects are associated with certain words/prompts.
When I say "Pablo Picasso" to you, you most likely wouldn't recall any of his individual pieces but you'd certainly remember his style. Same with Van Gosh or Salvador Dali. And with a bit of practice, you might even be able to replicate the SENTIMENT of what your mind associates with the name.
i agree fully on the ai art points btw; it's partly why i don't think sentient artificial intelligences are possible. they're a grossly oversimplified form of human learning where they're told stimuli -> response and to apply that pattern in a very specific field.
your words fall on deaf ears, clearly as mine have with yours
What would I need to provide to convince you otherwise?
i would ask you the same
My argument is that machine learning (and more specifically the neural networks implementation) is essentially an attempt of re-creating the human brain. So, to convince me that "training ML on 'stolen' Art" is wrong, you would have to prove that what an AI does here is fundamentally and effectively different from what humans do. More specifically, you'd need to prove that no human - regardless of how proficient in the craft of creating art - is able to replicate the sentiment and artstyle of another artist merely by looking at it. (and to clarify, not replicating any specific piece but the sentiment - create a piece that looks and feels like the "target artist" created but that wasn't actually created by him/her).
while i cannot personally explain to you, or understand the workings of ai image generation, there is little doubt it is fundamentally, and effectively different from what humans do
if it functioned as a human does it would be much greater news than mere ai generation
My point is: can it do anything that humans can not as a result of looking at or storing art that it doesn't own?
regardless as mentioned before, i'm more or less finished with this conversation because it's clear nothing productive will come of it
you dragged me back in by pinging me but, i ask that you don't ping me again
(Spoiler: https://marianacustodio.com/the-5-biggest-art-frauds-in-contemporary-art-history/ - Humans are already able to create pieces that deliberately resemble the art style of another artist though in law terms it's called "fraud". One of those cases was so famous / notorious that they're now making a Netflix show out of it.)
Legal of the AI stuff aside, I just think it looks kinda bland. Necron ass soulless art.
This is true, but not an excuse to steal someones work - whether physical or immaterial.
Your rant against intellectual property sounds like an illphrased concern against modern copyright usage of big companies. THESE misuse the idea behind that.
But if a person creates something - again either physical or immaterial - they should be able control its use and be able to make an living from it, e.g. as an artist or inventor.
Saying people do the same, it's true and you said that's called fraud. Should be the same with AI. But in that case, the person feeding the data the AI use is responsible.
TL;DR also considering your later posts: If you use something that isn't yours, it's stealing or fraud. Whether by person or AI (the latter is just by proxy)
So if I create a piece of art that is inspired by another artist (and therefore looks similar), it would be fraud? Or does it depend on how I frame it (aka "it's okay as long as I say that I created it and not the potentially more famous artist")
Completely misses the point.
I said steal.
If you are inspired by it and you create something of your own, that may have similarities, you created something of your own. If these similarities are too big - I made the flowers blue, instead if yellow, rest the same. That's not something new. That's stealing while trying to hide the fact.
Usually artists credit their inspirational sources, as this inspiration means something to them and often are grateful for it.
"Theft" or "stealing" means that I aquire something that the other person doesn't have anymore afterwards... which technically doesn't apply to digital art.
The word you most likely were looking for is "pirating"
But you bring up an interesting point: technically everything these ML tools create are pieces inspired by other art.
And there we are again at intellectual property.
You can steal immaterial things, and that is still theft.
Pirating or stealing, both are still illegal and immoral acquisition.
Maybe, but without credit.
You could bring up cover-songs in this context, but these are still with the permission of the original creator
Okay, fair. Then the solution would be to properly give credit.
I think many would be fine with that. But I think asking for permission is the first step and credit a mandatory action afterwards. And if art is your living, that would need to come with financial compensation.
Bills need to be payed, you can't do that if you work for nothing.
Or others make money from your work
I know people who draw for fun.
They post it on the internet for other to see, to enjoy. Money is not important for them, but someone else taking their creation away hurts them.
If you do art for a living, it's getting way worse
(my suggestion is that ML art should be subjected to the same rules / laws that art created by humans is subjected to)
it is
Using databases of digital art/traditional art preserved in digital form for AI training that can replicate said artstyles - copyright infringement
Whenever you sign up to an art sharing forum you are automatically granted or are allowed to choose the copyright license for your work. If the database contains even a single artwork that, by the author, states No-Derivatives or Non-commercial , it's by law illegal. Seeing how Deviantart and Artstation is faring, that's what going on.
to solve this the databases just need to contain artworks that are public domain, or allowed by authors to be shared/remixed, and preferably don't need to be credited. simple as.
It is to some extend... but not completely.
I agree. ( Or already said that above😉 )
Whether it's beautiful or not...well we talk about art, that's always subjective imo.
But companies using uncredited art without permission is not good.
It either preventing talented people from showing their work to the world, or forcing them to paywall it to prevent theft and fraud.
That way everyone loses
BTW: sorry folks and mods if that got off-topic, but it's one of today's problems in art and without a good and just solution, we'll all suffer from this
or be scummy about it as a company and change last minute in the guidelines that all artworks are allowed to be used for AI training
Yep, there we are at big companies misuing laws and rules for their own profit
To get the conversation on-topic again... the solution for fan-art would be to give credit to all art that is posted here - either yourself if you're the artist or whatever ML tool you used or whoever created the commission for you.
Would the Wardens agree to that ("give credit where credit is due") as a rule for future content (or is that already a rule and I missed it)?
It's theft, the end lol

Memes was right
Its only words in here
Hey thats pretty good
ikr instead of using the same hundred warhammer 40k pics we can use ai to make many more
mfw I see people posting ai art in #darktide-fan-art thinking it actually looks good
Stop dragging the topic
Also mood 💀
oh im sorry is art too subjective for you?
You cannot look at that face and tell me it’s presentable
it is, sorry if your personal taste doesnt like
oh do i need to go to a school? or do i just call myself and artist?
AI Art Thread
This channel is now reserved for actual hand-crafted art. AI Art and discussion around it goes in the thread. If you post AI Art outside of the thread, you get muted.
took 5x longer to finish cause DT got me procrastinating
I like your drawing
thank!
That's pretty good!
glad we've finally got an AI image containment unit
looks great, always appreciate some sharpshooters
Nice art and very sexy bolter
I will be watching your career with great interest
I unironically think this goes crazy
Is that a leman russ 2nd row from top
props to the wardens for making their stance clear as well
Yeah
that leman russ gunning the daemon down goes hard
Good shit
Thankies
Good to see other fellow artist prise my work
I don't draw, but I can appreciate the effort you put into expressing your ideas
You even drew the chainaxe in last row too if im seeing that correctly. God bless that terrible shittyass weapon
This isnt effort. This was a shitpost to own the "youre not an artist" people
ıts kind of amazing how much 40k's design language can come across from a simple drawing like that
reminds me of how commissioners always love when their clients doodle stick figures as an example of what they'd had in mind
any form of effort is better than none at all
And you made it with your own hands
Lol
That alone is already above
You dropped this king 👑
On a phone using my finger bring rushed at work
Again this isnt effort, this is a shitty b8 meme
while you may not be proud of your creation, you did create something
You put more effort into your little troll meme than what most AI prompters do into what they call art I hope that occurs to you
Feel like you guys would take photos of a banana taped to a wall in a art museum
bud, we're messing with you
Stick to the thread #1055665314014167181
But its not AI art
its my new phone background so be proud
But it was 40k art was it not?
nooo whyd you delete it
Have a timeout
Stick argumentative posting about AI algorithms in the thread, or get muted. I’m not gonna be nice about this. If y’all are gonna keep stepping out of line I’ll look into banning AI Art and it’s discussion altogether. Capiche?
crystal clear
may as well add "AI art goes in thread" to the topic
drown out the topic with art
sadly eddy has took a break but everyone deserves a break
I see a lot of photobashing techniques, that person mightve just gotten some work in the meantime
hopefully its work yeah
Photobashing professionals for concept art are absolute monsters for the concept art world, got taught by one, it was a good time
what is photobashing?
is it where you take a reference imagine and draw on top of it?
kind of
you take portions of real images and use it collage style and build on top of it
cause this is clear as day atleast inspired by pacific rim
he shows his WIP's on insta
that would be like a pastiche for art, references and what not
i mean referencing something
i dont think his artstyle is photobashing
the ultramarine jump pack art, has a few 3D renders in it, thats been referenced i think
...Isn't that kinda tracing?
like this i did
i see elements of matte painting, but thats a widely used method throughout by professionals
modelled in 3D
then drawn over with added elements
obviously im like 0.1 % of their skill
but this is how a lot of concept artists drop art super super quick
Huh.
they're 3D generalists, painters, sketchers, and what not
So it's like a mix of 3D modelling and painting?
they have a super broad skill set
that's actually legit interesting
i mean its obvious what this is based on
as my teachers said "if you know how to 3D model, you can draw faster because all you need to do is build, and draw over it and adjust it"
my photobash teacher considered this to be really good, despite being so simple
why learn perspective when you can just model the scene in 3d and double the fun
good way of adding depth to the painting
you still need perspective and photography knowledge before you can effectively make the 3D scene good
the Code Lyoko artist did that, he was one of the first few artists in the world to start drawing on photoshop
Sounds more like 3D modelling/photography with traditional art elements
heres a matte painting i did using real photos for textures
its everything, which is why I fear Photobashing Artists, there is nothing they cant do
im not a artist i just enjoy the colours and shapes 😄
at the end of the day its just about making pretty pictures
ye
also one of the few things ive been drawing
hmm jump pack and sword supposed to be that scale?
ye, I'm super inspired by the old justice league stuff, so I really like to exagerrate a few things
pls finish it
Ive done things like normally and concept art-ty
hmm justice league as in the tV series?
but like most artists i branched out to breaking form a bit
ye, love it
tbh I'm not sure oversizing is the way to get that across
Justice league went for more clean, simple designs I think?
inspired dont mean i need to copy the actual semiotics of the art
sure, I'm not saying yours is bad just that I don't see the inspiration in the exaggeration
BTW the sword looks a bit crooked?
its tilted in an angle that foreshortening makes it look weird
God I love 40k swords sometimes, they’re so goofy
Like how does that handle not snap like a twig
the jump pack vents, as an inorganic add on, should be parallel to ecah other right
ye, I've been dreading to reach the point where I needed to adjust it
gotta pull out the ruler tool
Ancient Age of Strife secrets
should the storm bolter be shorter up front than in back?
shorter upfront deffo
I've always considered them to be huge, even for none termies, so its just massive on the arm
and is that storm bolter feed in...a floating bowl of holy water?
the chain and blooddrop is very intricate
Most things in 40k is goofy. That's why I love it so much.
mag box
alongside the sword, the two weapons are primarily symbols of office
the sword, aside from being a guts sword reference, (its also based on the Cathedral Knight Great Sword from Dark Souls 3), is also what I think a large Heavy Photonic Blade from Baal would look like
with half and half thoughts from Dark Souls Black Knight weapons where, the weapons were more meant to fight things much larger than the user kinda thing
I love the idea that they get their beers in these giant mugs but then drink it through a smol straw
british vibes
Men in mask sketch
Im back bithes
Also nice art yall
Men in masks are always best.
dwane "the rock" johnson eyebrow raise gif
Nice
absolutely agree
loving darktide so far, haven't had this much fun since salmon run, here's my psyker!
that's fucking great
thank you!
amount of (simplified anyways) details on lineart gonna kill me
they're cringe and it was deserved
quote from a man shovel'd
"what are you gonna do, shovel me?"
Froge
forg
Plz leave
Least do this shit in the damn AI art thread
Been enjoying Darktide and wanted to make some Warhammer art
hmm maybe the trim would benefit from some texture (lines) or being offwhite
Yeah I was thinking of going back and adding some shadows, highlights, etc but that's gonna be for tomorrow
Great base regardless my guy
I feel like I'm supposed to see something here - But my Guardsman eyes just can't see anything.
damn thats actually sick
put some crackling lightning on the sword
we have the means to make infinite art and ppl are salty as hell
maybe you missed the message and aren't being instigatory, but discussion of ai art now belongs in the associated thread
sigh
@unkempt gulch the AI boys are back
clean it up jannies
asking for the hall monitor lmao
oh no ai art was mentioned time to shut everything down and get a mod. chill
go back to posting art
may as well get the amogus out of the way :/
(seriously though, the AI thread is there :V)
hey if you post another art piece about ai art i win a free icecream sunday
btw good lines i cant do anything as well as you
youll note it doesnt work for them in universe lmao
Holy shit shut up about the AI art in here
i agree draw something that doesnt talk about ai art
No
Bring this over to the thread at least!
post art thats all im asking
Anime tiddie okay?
will ping the <@&735928989146939404> before i head off to bed, hopefully they can resolve some of this
yes actually if the mods will not ban it
thats fair
What part of “stick to the containment thread” was hard to understand
The "stick to the containment thread" part, probably dosent help it isnt a seperate channel
Pins are a thing
That nobody looks at in my experiance
Skill issue
Part of me wants to see a comic of an Ogryn looking at Discord confused and asking the Veteran what "pins" are 😂
"Sah, they keep talking about Pins. What's that? New weapon? New rations? Can you show to Grogg?"
Not sure if it counts as fan art, but I felt the need to re-write 12 days of Christmas to be about Darktide. Hope you find it funny! 😄
Its was indeed.... Hilarious
too bad you cant type in ingame, letter cap is reached
https://twitter.com/MangakaNekoChan/status/1603436397712621570
A very cool piece of artwork!
No clue if it’s been shared before
Someone said to add lightning, and it was quite the fine addition
i love the robes and stuff, makes it look a lot fancier
Source?
ME

Right, not an AI amalgamation at all, right?
1st party reporting
yes it is an AI
just it's not so easy to make him do what you want like
Read the topic description before you post.

Problem?
Hey guys, i created an artwork for darktide, could you give me some opinions, criticism even?
I’m a sucker for Polaroids so I say very yes
I love it
maybe some intentional glossiness/damage/less than perfect photography
ie: add filters to the photos, or little tears or something
Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated
And thats actually a damn good idea man, if i make a new one i will surely do that.
Work doodle
Looks good maybe just change the font?
Also
I want Cillian Murphy to play Ibram Gaunt
Make her ass 50% bigger and Im sold
BRUH
(Excellent work btw)
I can’t tell if that handsome veteran on the right is me or not.
“On watch”
Could be me or you, i'm not sure who was on the screenshots, so defo a possibility :d
What sorts of font would you recommend?
Welp I take it as so for now lol.
Gothic probs for me
Since that'd be standardized writing style in the imperium probs
My first time trying to draw digitally so far doesn’t help that it’s on my phone with an oversized stylus lol https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/999451763881037855/1056455692078301254/IMG_0121.PNG

You never showed me this one, Zcee!
It looks awesome.
i was working on making a larger version
