I main Veteran. Almost all the classes are a mix of melee and ranged. Some classes lean more into one or the other. The only classes that can go exclusively ranged gameplay are Psyker and Hive Scum. For long ranged gameplay I'd recommend Veteran because they have more weapons/skills effective at long ranges but most of the game is played in very close range outside of Expeditions

There's a thing called 'dump stats' where you basically want to get the worsy stat possible at max 60%, so everything else is 80%. Since you've just started, don't worry about this too much, but the best dump stat for the Kickback is mobility (so max 60% mobility, with everything else max 80%)

I think they’re neat when contrasted with the other legions. They personify the meatgrinder that is the imperiums military industrial complex. They’re the ideal soldier and when juxtaposed with the more human regiments I think they work thematically

play in melee as much as possible to learn it. get used to dodging / pushing / blocking. try different weapons (like just playing the ones u get after winning missions)

pushes also apply in full 360
sprinting + sliding helps alot with approaching gunners

Yeah it's nice seeing other players out in the world. WoW always felt so dead trying to level because everyone is at max doing the current xpac in the different zone so if you're leveling in the open world and not just spamming dungeon finder it feels so empty

Blocking and pushing are in full 360 rotation around your character. If you hear a pox hound leaping block and shove and most times you will get them because you get extended range on shoves vs hounds. Push poxbursters to safely deal with them. Dodge to the right under the arm grab when fighting a Chaos Spawn. Dodging left or backward puts you in their grab radius

SWTOR has REALLY good base game content. I'd say that the Imperial Agent storyline is one of the best choose your own adventure style stories in MMORPGs ever (mostly because of lack of competition tbh because most MMORPGs are very linear anyway). I've been told Sith Inquisitor is also a very good story. I personally really liked Republic Trooper but most people I've talked to say that Republic Trooper was one of the more dry/boring stories
