its a really poorly explained blessing
combat axes have very high first target damage with very low cleave, so youre realistically hitting only 1-2 enemies, and the damage falloff it has means the 2nd target isnt likely to be killed since its damage is frontloaded into that first target
brutal momentum "ignores hitmass", hitmass is how much cleave you spend when hitting each specific enemy, stopping the hit when you run out of cleave
this isnt entirely how it works, like they said it ignores the hitmass of the first 4 targets and treats them as if they were the first target and deals damage accordingly, then it hits the 5th target as if it was the 2nd normally
if youre at a point where you can one shot something to the head, and your swing pretends that the first 4 targets are the first one and deals that damage, your single target weapon is now one shotting 4 enemies per swing and being better than most horde clear weapons outright

I think the karnak twins are the hardest fight the rejects have faced so far, yes. combined they can conceivably be more dangerous than a plague ogryn or a chaos spawn. but the daemonhosts are also up there. they seem pretty heavily bound, which reduces their power, but depending on the daemon in question they can be some of the most dangerous things in the setting
