print out the spec so you can make sure you cover the content that will be covered in the exams. many textbooks have extra info you don't need to know often enough. do practice papers A LOT and do them with markschemes. every now and then redo the ones you got wrong. consolidate the content at least 3 times. what I sometimes do for certain subjects is force myself to go through all content in one day as if my exam would be tomorrow. helps when I procrastinate. after you go through it once it all looks easier and more achievable. there are also great resources online like potcasts and yt vids especially if the subject is history for example. Search for tips for the specific exam type ( eg: a levels, gcses) online on yt to see what other people did to get the grade they wanted..... TBH it really depends on what exams you are doing...know your exams and how you are being assessed (markschemes again are so important and examinars reports if it's stuff like literature and stuff)... And always remember that as long as you do your best in that situation you should always feel proud... don't let these shit academic systems ruin it for u 🙂

Usually, when I'm not studying (I do about 8-9 hours a day), I exercise, (abs workouts and learn dance choreographies, I take my dog on a run, I'll bake some food and meal prep, I'll do the daily chores, clean up, take a shower and if there's really NOTHING else I could possibly do, I might watch a little bit of Youtube, but that tends to 'study with me's' and 'day's in my life' to motivate me. I go to bed at 9:00pm sharp and wake at 5:00am every morning! :) Hope this helps! <3

honestly... you still want to enjoy your days so don't make some crazy unrealistic routine and stuff like that. study for a good amount (it will take you a little while until you find your perfect schedule and method with that so just keep working on your discipline. atomic habits recommended by james could work with forming habits like that) Replace your screen time with friends time or reading if u enjoy that. make sure u get those 8 h of sleep too. join gym with a friend and join the fitness classes they offer.. stuff like that. or draw more if u into that. i try to follow the 8 h rule. free time 8 h study 8h and sleep 8h

@ancient shard Haha, it takes practise and alot of self-discipline to get into the habit of having days like this. Don't expect to do everything at the very beginning, like Fernweh said ^^^, start off small so you don't burn yourself out trying to aim for something unrealistic at the moment and slowly, when you feel more comfortable, you can level it up and do more with your day! :)

B makes it passive voice. Since "birds" is the subject in this sentence, if you say "these birds had made extinct", it would be the birds themselves creating the extinct. But when you say "these birds had been made extinct", the birds are not the one doing the extinction, they're just the victims of it. Hope that helps make more sense of it :)

This one is likely not going to be helpful to everyone, but I keep my laptop free of any applications that could distract me and use it for when I need to focus. Then I use my stationary PC in my room for when I have time to just relax. Generally its a good idea to move somewhere else when you need to study. It will always be harder to focus if you are studying at the desk you normally sit at when playing video games. I personally either go to the library in town, a cafe, or just into the living room (with covid lock down and all). Seperating the place you go to study, from the place you use to chill, will help increase focus manifold!

And of course, in my own experience, a cup of coffee tells my mind to engage (focus mode) 😛

Thanks for the tip! I definitely agree with you in terms of moving to a different area to study. The brain usually associates certain places with specific activities so bringing myself to a new area to study would help a lot!

I would start trying to figure out whether you're an early bird or night owl and then find out your most productive time. For early birds that's usually in the morning, and for night owls it's usually later in the day

Then try to always study at your most productive time

If you always start at the same time, it will become second nature

Accounting focuses on day to day stuff where financing is more geared to the management of assets and the planning of future growth

But with accounting you are more backward focused and with financing you are forward thinking

My personal view. Accounting is the backbone of an entity, which record and tracks money flow. While Finance is the brain of an entity, that focuses on the allocation of these money. Since, the latter is much riskier it’s rewarded more than the former.

start from scratch.... People watched James videos, and believe that they could sit 10 hrs concentrated with 10 minutes breaks. It is same as if you go to gym and see the next guy that lifts 120kg, and you say I'm not worst than him why I couldn't lift that from my day 1 in gym??? Get realistic, concentration is a muscle, start from small.... 30 minutes, and after you make it a consistent habit, add weight (time) make it 45 minutes.... then 60 minutes. (My opinion)

just to be transparent, what i do is just set alarms, check/reply to messages, maybe a couple mins on instagram, and then i set the phone down on my nightstand and sleep (meaning it's not like i don't use my phone at all right before bed). but for any advice on how u can avoid using your phone before sleeping, you could set it in a different room (would need an actual non-smart alarm clock unless you usually wake up naturally) as soon as you go into your bedroom to sleep. if you're not up for those other usual activities, you don't really have to force yourself to try to do them or other similar activities just before bed. can just lay down and close your eyes!

Hiya! We've all been there! A good thing to do for me was to just stay out of my room until I get tired and then once I feel the need to sleep I go up to my room and leaving everything downstairs

That way I actually feel like I want to get some sleep and I care more about being comfortable than staying busy

It sounds to me like you should look into creating a better sleep schedule and improving your sleep hygiene

Hello, I'm here to get some advice from college students. I'm majoring in biology(life science) and I have so many ppt files to study(over 1200 slides for each course). I want your opinions about having i-pad for taking notes on ppt. I like to write on paper but, I think it's a huge waste to print out all ppts (Some professors even skip some ppt slides) and i-pad would be very useful for note-taking on ppt, but it is too expensive for me (over 700$, 850$ when I add apple pencil here)
Which one do you think is better? getting an i-pad or just print out ppts as usual?

Yoooo! I used an ipad for a long time for that exact reason and it didn't help me as much as I wanted it to.
How I ended up making it work for me is just take the harder road and summarize the powerpoints

well if you take component of drag force, that will work as well

but since drag is already horizontal

i just took the components of thrust ONLY

and the left component of Thrust cancels the right component of drag

and the net force is in the vertical direction only

You do not need to write ACT or SAT to get into most universities. They have changed the requirements!

... good universities first look at your grades from highschool not ACT/SAT. Although, if you don't get good grades in high-school, you could take standardized tests, and their is a slight chance it may boost your average. Otherwise, it pretty useless in 2021.

Hello! I'm currently taking an online curriculum of cs50 in order to prepare myself for an introductory elective of computer science. At the beginning of the course i was doing great but by time of progress i started to question if it was really necessary to even study cs50 for an INTRODUCTORY elective of what im taking online. It also bothers me that i don't get enough time doing the things i want to do after. In short: the curriculum seems unnecessary and time draining just for a simple elective of computer science.

anyway here's some general advise that worked for me , since im also guilty of last minute cramming...
download a formula list of your syllabus and stick it somewhere and just glance through it multiple times every day
go through at least 5 examples for each formula and revise religiously
if possible go though derivations , since they are free marks.

Except from the parts you already know and easy chapters , dont do too much theory , cause you cant .... you wont remember much of it anyway

Just read your message about looking for opinions on CS50 . I will say I've only went through some early lessons and not through it completely. I like that they do try to teach C. It is nice that they have a couple of other follow up courses, such as one for web development etc. But, with respects to the actual CS50 course, I can remember that it was going a little slow paced. But if you want, keep going through it as I'm sure the class is worth it.

Balancing between school, health and play. Make sure you exercise and eat well, hang out with friends or family at least once a week. Set up specifics goals for your health, school career. And also trying to get friends who want to be success. They could be some good source of peer pressure. Alright, i was thinking of reducing the time being spent on the course weekly, a day for the lecture and the next day for the assignments. Why not everything i've said in a single day? I overdo stuff because i think its for the better: I watch the lecture and take notes, and then do a resume on a notebook about all the notes / sections of the unit. Maybe its my way of learning, time draining but worth it, and for the problem sets / labs i code and then write, like a procedure in order to know where i'm going and know what the efficient solution will be.
