Upcoming Change to Pokétwo's Prefix and Deprecation of Custom Prefixes @everyone

Due to limitations imposed by Discord, on August 17, 2022, Pokétwo commands must be used with the mention prefix (@thorn osprey). Both the current default of p! and custom prefixes that you may have set in your own servers will no longer work. That means, if you're not using the mention prefix already, you'll likely have to change the way you run commands. Here are some examples:

Old: p!pokemon --legendary
New: @thorn osprey pokemon --legendary

Old: p!t a pc 200
New: @thorn osprey t a pc 200

Old: p!c sunflora
New: @thorn osprey c sunflora

We suggest you take the next week to try out the mention prefix and acclimate to its use. Between August 17 and August 31, commands run with the default p! prefix and any old prefixes you may have set will trigger a notice reminding you of the change. After August 31, old prefixes will stop functioning altogether with no response from the bot.

This change is being made due to Discord's deprecation of message content access for verified bots. Right now, it's a temporary bandage to ensure Pokétwo continues working. For the long term, I've been working on rewriting Pokétwo using slash commands, but it's been moving along slowly due to a lack of free time on my part. Since the deadline is coming up soon, I've decided instead to take a while longer to complete and polish the rewrite instead of rushing it out.

Clarification: There is no need to change your prefix yourself; @thorn osprey already works (and has been working) as a prefix by default. On August 17, support for other prefixes will simply be dropped.

Summer's well underway, and some Pokémon are sporting new outfits to match the season!
For the next two weeks (until <t:1662706740:F>), the following limited-time event Pokémon will be available to catch in the wild:

Pokétwo is back online! @everyone

I've finally managed to get Pokétwo back up and running — sorry for the extreme delay! This shouldn't have taken nearly this long, but with a couple days of debugging networking, then being stuck studying for finals, and lastly waiting over a week for our host to transition our machines over to their new system and fix any issues made our recovery time come out to over two weeks. On the bright side, I've been able to take my time to rebuild our infrastructure from the ground up to be much more robust, so nothing like this should happen again.

To compensate, we'll be giving everyone 5 Master Boxes. You can open these boxes with @Pokétwo open master. In addition, for the next two weeks, there will be a 50% spawn rate boost and a double shiny rate boost. I hope this at least helps y'all catch up a little on the catching time lost due to the bot being down.

In addition, we're doubling opportunities to earn vote boxes by introducing an additional bot list site! You can now vote for our bot on both https://top.gg AND https://discordbotlist.com to earn up to 4 boxes a day! Run @Pokétwo vote for links to both bot lists.

It's Christmas Eve, but unfortunately, somebody has hacked into Santa's workshop and stolen all his presents! Santa needs your help to raise enough money to recover his gifts and spread his holiday cheer. Look out for 🪙 Christmas Coins dropped while catching any Pokémon! Donate these coins to Santa by spending them at Santa's Shop. If, by <t:1672560000:F>, the community donates a total of 200,000 coins, then Santa will be able to get everyone presents!

The event will continue until <t:1673164800:F>, but donations after January 1 will not count toward the community quest goal.

Generation 8 Moves Now Available @everyone

The long-awaited Generation 8 moves are now here! Newly caught Generation 8 Pokémon will now come with moves. For pre-existing Pokémon, you can use the @Pokétwo moveset, moves, and learn commands to train your Pokémon.

Older Pokémon have also been updated with new moveset data from Pokémon Sword and Shield. This may result in minor changes to movesets of existing Pokémon. However, if a Pokémon currently knows a move that is no longer in the moveset after this update, the move won't be removed.

Additionally, we don't have back battle sprites, so those are replaced with flipped versions of the front battle sprites for now.

New Event • Pride Month 2023 @everyone

It's Pride Month, and Pokémon are celebrating too! Certain Pokémon have even been spotted in special pride forms. Participate in this festival for the chance to obtain limited-time Pride Pokémon, all while supporting the LGBTQ+ community!

Use the @Pokétwo pride command to view information regarding this event.

New Pride Pokémon

During the month of June, we're introducing fifteen new event Pokémon, each showing off its own colors:

– Pride Zigzagoon, Comfey, Arceus
– (Non-binary) Pride Mew, Unown
– (Lesbian) Pride Masquerain, Tinkaton
– (Bisexual) Pride Bellossom, Toucannon
– (Gay) Pride Roserade, Rufflet
– (Transgender) Pride Gardevoir/Delphox, Sylveon
– (Pansexual) Pride Milotic, Piplup

To obtain them, you will need to befriend the regular versions of these Pokémon. You can have one active buddy at a time, to whom you can offer pride flags ( 🏳️‍⚧️ ). These pride flags will drop while catching regularly, and also from event quests. The more pride flags you offer to your buddy, the higher that Pokémon's pride level — once that level is high enough, the Pokémon will transform into its Pride variant! You will also receive Pokécoins from offering flags to your Pride buddy.

To offer flags to your buddy, use the @Pokétwo pride offer command.

Pride Arceus: You will only be able to set Pride Arceus as your buddy after you have collected one pride Pokémon associated with each type of flag. This counter resets after, so if you would like to obtain another Pride Arceus, you must collect one pride Pokémon of each type again before you can do so.

Boosted Festival Hours

Every seven hours, there will be a four-hour festival duration during which one pride flag is featured! During these four-hour windows, flag drops of that type will be more frequent while catching. You'll also receive a new set of event quests during each window, which you can complete to receive bonus flags of that type. You must complete all quests within the four-hour window to receive the reward.

Pride Month Fundraising

While we hope everybody is able to have fun with Pokétwo during Pride Month, we'd also like to draw attention to some of the serious societal issues surrounding this celebration. The matter of the fact is, LGBTQ people still face discrimination all across the world. LGBTQ youth are especially affected, with studies showing that LGBTQ youth are more than four times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers because of how they are mistreated and stigmatized in society.

During Pride Month, I will be personally donating $5,000, with an additional $0.80 for every $1 spent on the bot, to the Trevor Project (https://www.thetrevorproject.org/). The Trevor Project is a US-based suicide prevention organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention assistance for youth who might find themselves in that situation.

If you purchase shards during Pride Month, you will also receive a Pride 2023 badge when the month ends.
If you'd like to help support the cause further, please also consider donating individually to The Trevor Project, or to another organization working to support the LGBTQ+ movement!

The Tale of the Ruined Golurk by @deft pine

Gather around now, for I am about to tell a tale you best not forget, the tale of Ruined Golurk and the four Sinister Sages! Many moons ago, an extraordinary Golurk roamed the world of Pokémon, hailed as the strongest in all the land! The Golurk disliked conflict and did everything in its power to maintain peace, only using its mighty strength to protect the defenseless from the powerful.

However, one day while Golurk was wandering through the woods, it encountered a group of four unnamed ghost-type Pokémon surrounded by a pack of fearsome Mightyena! Golurk intervened to protect the Pokémon, and a fight ensued! However, the cunning leader of the Mightyena pack had a foul trick in mind: during the battle, it shredded Golurk’s chest seal clean off!

The only thing restraining Golurk’s true power is the seal on its chest, and without it, Golurk went into an uncontrollable frenzy! Golurk easily chased off the pack of Mightyena… but then turned on the four ghost types it was trying to protect! But before Golurk could lash out with its power, it saw the fear in the eyes if the four ghost-type Pokémon and remembered for a brief moment who it used to be. It couldn’t harm these Pokémon, because all it ever did was protect the defenseless! But Golurk knew it couldn’t hold back its power much longer…

Hurt, enraged, and conflicted, Golurk bolted deep into the woods, trying to isolate itself from all other Pokémon so it wouldn’t accidentally unleash its terrible strength upon them. Without the seal, the rift on its chest grew wider every day, and more cracks branched out across its body. The infinity energy was leaking out of the Ruined Golurk, which only increased its rage and power further. Any Pokémon that tried to approach the Ruined Golurk in the woods was met with its unrelenting attacks. There was truly nothing it could do to stop itself from rampaging around…

But the four ghost-type Pokémon that were rescued by the Golurk never forgot the look of pain in its eyes before it turned and fled. They vowed to band together and restore the Ruined Golurk to its normal, heroic self. The four unnamed ghosts each had unique powers that they hoped would help them locate and calm Golurk. They called themselves the Sinister Sages, and only together could their powers quell the Golurk.

The Sage of Flames plans to use its light to illuminate the woods and attract the Golurk, luring it from the depths of the woods. The Sage of Shadows will trap the angry Golurk in place, allowing the other sages to complete their work. The Sage of Foliage plans to grow a new, extra-powerful seal for the Golurk, a seal that will never be removed again by the cruel and wicked Pokémon of the land. Finally, the Sage of Snaring will secure the seal to the Golurk’s chest, trapping the infinity energy within the Ruined Hero once and for all. With all these steps completed, they hope to restore their hero to defend the lands once more.

It is said the Sinister Sages continue to roam the woods to this day, attempting to seek out their hero and save it from its torment, but their quest isn’t easy. Without the Heroic Golurk around, the cruel Pokémon of the world roam unchallenged, causing mischief and chaos wherever they go. The Sages are forced to fight off these Pokémon and keep searching for their hero, no matter how long it takes them…

That is why you must heed this story, you must take caution when around these woods at night! If you hear distant rumbles or see glowing through the trees, it can only be the Ruined Golurk! Flee as quickly as you can before you are met with its terrible might! And beware the shadows too, for that is where the packs of wicked Pokémon lurk!

Event Backstory

Hey everyone! Halloween is near, and the world of Pokétwo preparing for festivities 🎃, but a tragic thing happened in the forest. Golurk has been attacked and lost control over its powers 😱 ! Four brave Pokémon, the Sinister Sages, want to help Golurk and save the forest from evil Pokémon. You can help the Sinister Sages during the coming two weeks. But be wary of the several Foul Beasts that roam the forest freely now without Golurks protection 👀 .

During these two weeks of the Halloween event, there will be six milestones to conquer together as a community. Together we can save Golurk and the forest ❤️

It's been exactly four years since Pokétwo was created and ever since, the various unique forms of Pokémon have consistently been our top suggestion! Today, we are extremely excited to say that they're finally here. Say hello to 84 new forms (including G-Max) that you can collect! Thank you to @lucid cliff for her very hard work on organizing this addition, recolouring all shiny artwork and drawing missing artwork, that made this possible! Some will spawn in the wild, some will require new held items, and some will require the brand new item, Transformation ! Can you collect 'em all?

We have been able to gather most data on these forms, however we unfortunately do not have all their moveset data, so some may be inaccurate. In addition, we have made it so that all forms (event, gmax, etc) that do not have any moves will now inherit moves from their base Pokémon, just so they're still usable until we have the updated data!

2️⃣ Gigantamax Pokémon

The long awaited Gigantamax Pokémon are here! You can now obtain all 35 Gigantamax Pokémon—but here's the twist—as you catch Pokémon that have a G-Max form, there will be a chance that they have the Gigantamax Factor, transforming them into the G-Max form!

Additionally, thanks to the much appreciated hard work of @glacial quartz, @raw knot and @sweet talon, the stats of the Gigantamax Pokémon have been balanced to make them more viable in battle!

3️⃣ Pokédex Completion Milestones! 🏆

For many years, you have requested rewards for your hard work completing the Pokédex, so to celebrate your accomplishments, we are introducing Pokédex Milestones! There is a milestone for every time the Pokédex has been updated throughout Pokétwo's lifetime, with more to be added as our Pokédex expands! 🏆 Standings

As you earn points for your team by playing the Minisports, your team will rise in standings among the other teams. As you catch pokémon, you will earn 🎟️ Olympic Tickets which you can use to play any of the three Minisports to earn points and rewards! The more points you earn, the more pokécoins and better boxes you will get!

🎯 Archery

You will be briefly shown 5 targets on a square board only once. Remember the locations of these targets and type them in to shoot! You will get 1 per target, and each target will earn you 1 point! The more targets you hit, the more points you will earn!

🏃 Relay Race

You will be given an olympic-themed word, for each letter of which, you have to catch a pokémon whose English name starts with that letter. As little catches you can finish your word in, the more points you will earn!

🏅 Pentathlon

Complete 5 tasks of varying difficulties in sequence: Catching, Trading, Battling, Evolving and Releasing. As little time you can finish your tasks in, the more points you will earn!

@everyone Hello everyone, we have detected and suspended 35 autocatchers automating Olympic minisports in the current event to get thousands of points illegitimately. We have removed a total of 97,371 points across all teams and all minisports that were obtained illegitimately by these autocatchers.

We will continue to monitor, suspend and remove points earned by illegitimate users through unfair means. Best of luck to all teams—play fair, enjoy the event, and may the best teams win!

We have suspended 10 more autocatchers who were abusing minisports and removed a total of 7,899 more points obtained unfairly by them.

(A small note that the point of these announcements is transparency to avoid confusion about suddenly missing points. They're about only the autocatchers that contributed points that were removed, and is not an exhaustive number of autocatchers being suspended.)

Hey y'all, we have suspended and removed a whopping 1,111,148 points from 175 autocatchers / minisport automation selfbots who had obtained these points illegitimately.

Honestly, still in shock seeing such a huge number. We quadruple checked all the suspensions and calculations, and could not find any discrepancies. Almost all these accounts are brand new alts, all found to be selfbotting the event.

Sorry, we're a bit late! We didn't want to do a purge so close to the end of the event as it can significantly affect the standings, but it had to be postponed due to some irl circumstances :(

There's still about 23h left to the event, good luck! Ofrendas are traditional Mexican altars decorated during Día de Muertos to pay respects to deceased loved ones. Collect various items by helping Pokémon in encounters and decorate ofrendas with these items to earn Nicho boxes.

During your catching adventures, you'll occasionally encounter alebrijes and Pokémon in need of assistance. Alebrijes are colorful fantastical creatures believed to connect the living and spirit realms. You can only have one active encounter at a time, which you complete by finishing quests for Pokécoins, Nicho boxes and items to decorate your ofrendas.

Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) Encounter Stacking

Hey @everyone, after a lot of feedback we have made it so that you can have multiple encounters at once now! You can now have up to 5 encounters active at once, and be able to complete their quests in one go instead of one encounter at a time (not at the same time though). We decided to limit it to 5 encounters in order to maintain the balancing, and because it takes 5 items to complete an ofrenda so it seemed like the perfect number. We hope that this change will make the event more enjoyable for you all, and thank you for all the feedback!

Distinction Between Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Halloween

This year, we decided it would be a nice change of pace to celebrate Day of the Dead instead of Halloween. But many people confuse Day of the Dead and Halloween, especially due to the closeness of the dates, so we felt like it was important for us to clarify that Day of the Dead is a completely separate holiday from Halloween, they are not related! Blueprints

You will be randomly assigned blueprints for crafting gifts and as you complete your assigned tasks, each will reveal a cell on the blueprint. Avoid empty cells, complete tasks corresponding to parts of the gift and build streaks to earn better and better rewards for your efforts 💪

You will earn more and more rewards the higher the streak of "good" cells you garner. But beware, one wrong move and it goes down to zero! Additionally, you'll earn an extra present and an event Pokémon corresponding to your blueprint upon completion!

Breeding Is Here 🍃

Welcome to the Pokétwo Daycare! The daycare is a new permanent feature, where you can add Pokémon for a chance to produce eggs if they're compatible, and gain XP in the process. Offspring hatch from these eggs, inheriting various traits from their parents!

💘 Valentine's Event Special: During this event, you'll earn 5 Valentine Boxes everytime you breed a pair of Pokémon and every time you hatch an egg!

Egg Groups

Every Pokémon has at least one egg group, except undiscovered egg groups. Egg groups determine the compatibility of two Pokémon to breed. You can see the egg groups of a Pokémon using the pokedex command. You can also use the new --egggroup <egg_group> flag to find Pokémon of specific egg groups!

Compatibility

Whether two Pokémon are compatible to breed depends on a few factors. Two Pokémon are compatible only if they're of opposing genders and have at least 1 common egg group. The only exception to this is Ditto, which is compatible with every other Pokémon. However, Pokémon with undiscovered egg groups (e.g. rares, event Pokémon, etc) can not breed no matter what.

If two Pokémon are compatible, how compatible they are also depend on a couple factors. The higher the compatibility, the higher the chance of them producing an egg. Compatibility increases when:

• the two Pokémon have different original owners (the player that first had it)
  • this only applies to Pokémon moving forward, we sadly did not keep track of this for earlier Pokémon. but due to this, old Pokémon and new Pokémon have increased compatibility between them vs old-old or new-new.
• both Pokémon are of the same species

Oval Charm

You can increase the chance of producing eggs by 60% with the new item— Oval Charm—from the shop!

Eggs

After adding two compatible Pokémon in your daycare, as you catch Pokémon there will be a chance of them producing an egg. Eggs are stored in your egg basket, which will hatch once their egg cycles are complete. You can hold at most 20 eggs at once in your egg basket.

Once two Pokémon breed, they're put on a breeding cooldown for 7 days, as well as the offspring. You can use the --breedable/--nocooldown flag to search for Pokémon that aren't on cooldown.

Egg Cycles

Each species has a set number of egg cycles its eggs need to complete before they will hatch. Egg cycles progress as you chat, with 16 messages counting for 1 cycle.

As you chat, the Pokémon in your daycare will also gain XP at the same time, along with your selected Pokémon as usual. You can prevent this using XP Blockers, or Everstones if you just want to block the evolution.

Inheritance

Offspring will inherit various useful traits from their parents.

• The species it will be depends on the mother / non-ditto parent, with a few exceptions (acc. to Bulbapedia but not all).
  • if the mother / non-ditto parent is a regional form, there's a 20% chance of the offspring being regional as well. Unless the father / ditto is holding an Everstone, in which case it'll choose that species.
• they will always inherit at least 1 IV stat from parents, with a chance of up to 3, which is the rarest.
• they will also inherit common moves between parents (within moveset). If one of the parents knows a move that is an egg move for the offspring species, that will be passed down.
• the level of offspring is always 1-5, 1 being the rarest.
• the shiny chance is the standard (shiny charm and streak apply).

All these boxes have been removed, and the people that abused the hell out of this bug have been permanently suspended. As you catch Pokémon in the wild, some of them will be glitched. The Pokémon's image will appear glitched and parts of it will be out of order. You must fix it by figuring out the correct order. The order for the parts is left -> right, hence the ABCD labels.

When you fix a glitch, you will earn a Glitched Box and contribute towards community milestones that unlock various upgrades.

Sorry y'all, there was a bug that made only event sylveons and arceus' spawn from <t:1743514135> to <t:1743515824>. I've removed all the sylveons and arceus' during this time (60k+ normal and 37 shinies).

April Fool's Day Event End!

A bit late but the April Fool's Day event has ended as of April 9th. Thank you for playing! No new boxes will drop or event Pokémon will spawn, but you can still open your boxes for a week.

During this April Fool's, we conducted a few silly jokes and tomfooleries that include:

• Fake shiny catches (with rick roll shiny emoji) - 50+ users have fallen for this and reported it as a bug
• Hints always showing Dittos - 100+ users have fallen for this and reported it as a bug
• The legendary fake ping server icon - 10000+ users have fallen for this and gotten upset
• The bot has gone haywire over 10 times as a sick and funny april fool's prank (definitely intentional and not something i pulled my hair out over)
• Everyone has been given 0 free pokecoins

Dungeons & Dragonites 🐉

Welcome to the Pokétwo dungeons filled with adventure, surprises and trickery! During this 2 week event, as you catch Pokémon and explore the wilderness, you will come across various encounters. Use your survival instincts to solve them and be rewarded, or you may get in trouble! Have fun out there adventurer, and good luck!

Adventures ⚔️

Adventures start automatically, during which you will come across various encounters while catching in the wild. Solve these encounters to earn Adventure Gold which will accumulate in your current adventure. But be careful, failing one will deduct gold from the adventure! An adventure ends after 10 encounters, after which all the Adventure Gold you earned during that adventure will get added to your Total Gold for you to use in the shop!

Encounters ⚠️

Various encounters will show up during adventures, all with different mechanics and puzzles to solve. Solving them in as few tries as possible will give you the most gold, and failing will deduct gold from the adventure. You can have at most 10 encounters stacked in an adventure and completing them all will complete the adventure and start a new one, restarting the cycle!

Dungeon Shop 🏪

The gold that you earn from completing adventures can be used to purchase various chests and Pokécoins from the Dungeon Shop! These chests contain rewards such as Event Pokémon, Pokécoins, Shards, Shinies, etc. There are 3 different chests, each containing better rewards and a better quantity of rewards than the one before. Choose from Common Chest, Rare Chest, Legendary Chest or Event Chest, or simply exchange your gold for Pokécoins!

Some Minor New Mechanics ⚙️

Time-dependent Spawns

Before, time only mattered for evolutions. But they affect spawns too now. Pokémon that previously evolved during a specific time (e.g. Espeon, Umbreon, etc) and some of the new forms (Vivillons, Cherrim, etc) will only spawn during that respective time of the day in the server!

Seasonal Spawns

The new Seasonal Deerling and Seasonal Sawsbuck forms will only spawn during their respective seasons IRL! Meaning that their forms will only spawn during Winter: Dec-Feb, Spring: Mar-May, Summer: Jun-Aug, Autumn: Sept-Nov! Seasonal Sawsbucks can be evolved from Seasonal Deerlings though.

My finals have been holding me up a lot and studying for them along with the personal issues I mentioned above have drained all my energy to work on this, so things have been moving slowly. Seven Nights At Pokétwo 🌛

Uh, so you've been given the task to keep watch of an abandoned pokémon café, once filled with laughter and joy. The job isn't much, all you need to do is keep watch for seven days to make sure the decommissioned Pokématronics here stay in order. This should be pretty easy, right?

These Pokématronics get a bit quirky at night. But don't worry, it's probably just a program glitch. They wander a bit and each night you'll encounter a new one. But you should be okay as long as you and the others complete your security tasks in time to keep the power up.

Night 1 has passed and you've learned a few things: Each night a new Pokématronic will start appearing in the wild or in boxes. You must submit a security report guessing which pokémon you think it will be based on. If majority of players get it right, it'll receive a small boost in spawns/chances.

For the past few months, things have been going dire on several levels within the Pokétwo bot and server.
Please read through the end, because this will be important information to know:

-- The bot --
For around half a year now, Witherr has been the only developer working on the bot. Maintaining the bot is already a huge challenge in itself, let alone having to deal with events and updates, all on his own.
For over a year I've been pleading to get another developer alongside him, so he would have a bit less on his shoulders. This plead has fallen on deaf ears.

As a result, the bot will have no Christmas event this year.

We really didn't want this to happen, but we had no choice but to lay down our work, until there is a plan to get an extra developer involved.

-- The server --
As most of you have already noticed, there have been multiple staff members who laid down their work. This inherently has to do with the same type of problem as the bot is facing.
There have been pleads from all staff to administration to tackle problems with appeals, reports, tickets and the bot, that have yet again fallen on deaf ears.
There are problems with getting people in the right places to move forward, admins don't have the right perms to tackle problems, staff can't perform without these admins.

We hope that there will be a change this coming year, where we can push forward, tackle the problems and have hope again that Pokétwo will endure, but for now, we have to wait. We are sorry that we weren't able to end this year in a good manner, but wanted to give the honest truth.

Welcome two new members @earnest bobcat and @icy perch to our development team! As you all know ever since spek retired I've pretty much been the only one holding down fort in terms of development and while I still love it, it's been impossible to manage and has burnt me out fully. I'm super confident in these two and I'm excited to see what we can do together :)

Things are still slow as they catch up to speed, which has been throttling a lil because of how burnt out I am but oliver has been helping around more and we're figuring things out slowly but surely :) Rest assured Pokétwo isn't going away any time soon!! (🤞)

– p!trade confirm to confirm the trade (NOT p!confirm), the trade is important
– p!trade cancel to cancel the trade

Shortcuts, respectively:

– p!t a <number>
– p!t a <amount> pp
– p!t c
– p!t x

To be safe, you can't trade favorited pokémon or your selected pokémon. Also, try not to catch pokémon while you're confirming a trade, as it could lead to glitches (purely theoretical, but let me know if this happens). Enjoy!

@everyone We're starting to roll out shinies! I've been working hard to recolor all the images manually, since Nintendo doesn't release official shiny artwork. We just added shiny versions of pokémon numbers 1–20. The chance of a pokémon being shiny is 1/4096, and you'll know after you catch it.

We've gone through all your caught pokémon and applied the 1/4096 chance of being shiny. You might notice that one of your pokémon was actually shiny! However, only pokémon with shiny artwork will show up as shiny for now. If we haven't added the image yet, you don't know whether it is shiny or not.

Good luck getting those shinies!

We added held items! You can buy held items through the shop! These items will show up when you do p!info. You can also use p!moveitem and p!dropitem to manage your held items.

What this means is that you can now evolve pokémon through trading! Some pokémon will evolve just by being traded, some will require a certain item to be held. You can find more information in the pokédex entry for that pokémon.

We also added the XP Blocker and Everstone to the shop as held items! XP Blocker will prevent your pokémon from gaining XP and leveling up; Everstone will prevent your pokémon from evolving, even through items or trading.

We also added form change items! You can buy these through the shop and they can transform certain pokémon into different forms! More details about what items are needed are in the pokédex. Try doing p!dex hoopa unbound!

Have fun with the new shop updates, and good luck catching those pokers!

@everyone Sorry for the ping, but this is important. A user @zoldyck#0989 (725458110449319974) has been going around DMing people with an "auto_catcher.bat" batch file that is actually malware. It will extract your user token from Discord and send it to him, giving him full access to your account. Once he has that, he can do anything; pretend to be you, delete your servers, etc.

If you have opened the file, change your password immediately. Even if you have 2FA enabled, you are still at risk. If you change your password, you will be safe. Please block this user and report him/her to Discord as well.

@everyone Pokétwo is now open source.

A few hours ago, I published the source code for Pokétwo on GitHub. The code is licensed under GPLv3, so anyone is free to use the code for personal or commercial uses, as long as that work remains open-source under GPLv3.

I believe that open sourcing the project is the right next step for Pokétwo. I've been very active in developing and maintaining the bot, but that won't always be the case in the future. Although I do't plan to shut down the bot, open source means that even if that situation does arise, the project won't die.

Open source also means that other skilled developers will be able to contribute. This means more features and Right now, the code has many parts that aren't that straightforward to read, and I'm in the process or refactoring and reorganizing the project.

I didn't create the bot to earn money or fame. This bot started as a small replacement for my friends and me. Popularity just gradually happened as I realized that more people might like to use it. I truly want people to have a good replacement for Pokécord after it shut down, and making the code open source is a great step in that direction.

Looking forward to working with the community to improve and fine-tune the bot!

Note that if you're looking to host the bot yourself, this probably isn't it. Even if you manage to get it running, things like trading and the economy won't work well without lots of people using it. The code is provided for educational purposes and if people want to contribute.

Added p!trade addall. You can use flags here like --name. Good for bulk trading.

Added --skip x and --limit x flags. Skip means to skip the first x pokémon, limit affects the number of pokémon returned.

Added support for specifying multiple --name and --type flags. This does OR. p!pokemon --name sunkern --name sunflora will list all Sunkerns and Sunfloras.

Added support for specifying multiple --iv flags (and the like). This does AND. p!pokemon --iv > 30 --iv < 90 will list all pokémon with IV between 30 and 90.

Example for --limit: p!trade addall --name sunflora --limit 10
This will add the first 10 sunfloras you have, even if you have more

Battling has been pretty much completely rewritten and should work much better than before now. Functionality still isn't changed (still only 3v3 battles, status effects don't work, etc) but it should be a lot more stable.

Unfortunately, battling won't be our priority going forward as fully implementing it is difficult/takes lots of effort and more people seem interested in stuff like market/other features. If you really want battling still, please voice your opinion and we'll gradually implement the rest of the features going forward. Thanks for all your support!

Shiny hunting! @everyone

You can now hunt for a specific shiny pokémon with p!shinyhunt! Here's how it works: you first choose a specific pokémon to hunt for. Your chain starts at 0 and every time you catch that pokémon, your chain increases by 1. Keep increasing your chain for higher chances of catching a shiny one!

Choose wisely though—it is a lot harder to get a long chain for rare pokémon. Switching pokémon will reset your chain back to 0.

We've added backgrounds to the spawning images. This feature is helps deter autocatchers, but also allows us to implement cool things in the future (related to time and different environments and stuff).

Some images might look weird at the moment (hovering :o), but everything's going to get better and look more aesthetic over time.

Finally, the market is here! You can buy or sell pokémon here. Commands are as follows:

• p!market add <number> <price> to list your pokémon, giving it a unique id on the market
• p!market buy <marketid> to buy a pokémon from the market
• p!market remove <marketid> to remove your listing from the market
• p!market info <marketid> to view details for a pokémon on the market

• p!market search [flags...] to search the market for pokémon. This command accepts most of the same flags as p!pokemon, but it has two extras:
• --order where you can specify iv+, iv-, price+, price-, etc
• --mine or --listings to view your own listings.

There is no tax on pokémon sold in the market. Have fun!

We've added a day/night cycle to the game! Server administrators can set a location on a server-wide basis, and sunrise and sunset times will be calculated automatically. This will affect the appearance of the background during spawns, and pokémon can also evolve differently depending on the time.

We've optimized the size of the spawn images so they are now much smaller, around 6x as small as the original images without backgrounds, and 12x as small as the earlier backgrounds. Smaller file size means they will load much faster than before so you won't miss any pokémon!

We're now done recoloring all 921 (809 species + forms) pokémon artworks, as well as the accompanying sprites! Thank you to everyone who has helped the process—this would not have been possible without the hard work of all them.

Just so everyone knows, I want to emphasize that these hard workers went through every single pokémon and manually recolored the artwork to match the pokémon's shiny colors, as Nintendo doesn't have official shiny versions of the art. The long awaited battling update is now here! This update fixes battling and adds new mechanics.

• All the bugs with battling are now fixed! There are no more issues selecting moves.
• Type efficacy now works! Depending on the move type and opponent type, it may be "super effective" or "not very effective".
• Some status effects now work! Not all of them have been implemented (there's a lot!) but many of them do work.
• We now have fancy battling images and sprites!

Numbering changes <@&721912092776726589>

In order to reduce load on the bot, numbers assigned to each pokémon will no longer change dynamically. This means that if you have 5 pokémon, and you release the first 4, the pokémon you have left will remain number 5. In order to recalculate your pokémon numbers and remove any gaps, you can use the p!reindex command.

Other than that, there won't be many differences between the old system and the new system. When trading or selecting pokémon, they work exactly the same as before. Happy catching!

We're gradually starting to roll out auctions—here's how they will work:

• Auctions are server-specific, NOT global.
• Auctions can be started with p!auction start <pokémon #> <duration> <starting bid> <bid interval>.
• Anyone in the server can bid on auctions with p!auction bid <auction #> <bid>.
• Pokécoins will be taken upfront when you bid and returned to you if you get outbid.
• Auctions can be viewed with p!auction search [...flags] and p!auction info <auction #>.
• Optionally, server admins can set an auction channel for auctions and bidsto be posted in.
• If someone bids within the last five minutes, the auction will be extended for five minutes.

For now, auctions will only be available in this server, and will be rolled out to all servers soon.

The Halloween Shop is now available. You can purchase a couple of items in the shop, including a badge, Shadow Lugia, boxes, and the ability to customize embed colors (new feature). Check it out with p!halloween shop, and buy items using p!halloween buy!

If you finished the quests, you will receive the badge on your profile automatically without needing to purchase it. The crates contain a couple of items and also some special spooky pokémon you can't catch, like the different sizes of Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist, and a special Mimikyu.

Embed colors allow you to customize the color of the embed sidebar for one pokémon. Once you buy it for a pokémon, you can change the colors for that pokémon whenever you like using p!embedcolor <pokemon #> <hex color>. The ability to change color also stays with the pokémon if traded and is not moveable.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone again for your patience; I have been very busy resolving spawning issues as well as working on other projects/schoolwork, and I apologize for how long it took to get this out. Hope you guys have a good time!

When I started developing Pokétwo, I was only looking for a fun, Pokécord-like bot for me to play with my friends. But little did I know, that day I made the very first commit—March 31, 2020—would turn out to be the birth of something far bigger than I had ever imagined.

The past six months have been a wild ride, with a flood of new discoveries. I got to work with our admins, who toil tirelessly day and night to manage the bot and server; I met our dedicated staff team, who volunteer their precious time to help out our players and help out our bot; I've learned so much more about programming and worked on a project I'm truly excited about... and greatest of all, I found you—a dedicated community of Pokémon lovers who have supported me and cheered me on ever since the start—and I cannot thank you enough for that.

To commemorate the milestone of reaching 100,000 servers, shiny spawns will be doubled for the next couple days. We'll also be giving away 100,000 shards total to 200 lucky winners (that's 500 each). Beginning Stages of Bot Overhaul <@&721912092776726589>

Hi all. Now that the bot is fairly feature-rich, I've begun work on rewriting the bot from the ground up, with a focus on the following points:

• Speed, stability, and scalability. The bot wasn't originally designed to be used by this many people, and that's starting to show through lag spikes and general slowness. The rewrite will be designed to serve lots of users while staying fast.
• Code quality and maintainability. Because this bot was developed so quickly, there are portions of the code that are hard to understand/maintain. Since I've done it once already, I'll be able to put a lot more thought into how to write good code in the rewrite, making it easier for both me and other developers in the community to write code for the bot.
• Component decoupling. Right now, the bot is a big monolith that handles everything from gateway connections to Discord to the application logic. The overhaul will split the bot into microservices, so that certain portions of the bot can be updated/taken down easily without affecting the rest of the bot. This will also mean I'll be able to write certain parts in different languages, making feature development more flexible.

To concentrate on the above, I'll be doing significantly less work on feature development in the current version of the bot. You might see a couple of new things, but no new big features will be coming.

Although I expect it'll take from a couple weeks to one or two months for the overhaul of the bot to be production-ready, I just wanted to let you guys know to get a better idea of what I'm working on at the moment. Thanks for all your support, and happy catching!

Performance Fixes and Miscellaneous Updates @everyone

As you all probably know, the bot has been pretty slow the past couple days. I've rewritten the internal workings of all the commands that list pokemon to more to be more efficient, which should make the bot much faster overall.

This also comes with some new filters updates! Unfortunately I've also had to place some restrictions on market search to keep it fast. Most notably, you can't go to the last page anymore, nor can you view the total number of results. Though, the good news is that they are mostly easy to work around.

For example, p!m s --order price views the cheapest pokémon.

Here's a full list of changes with today's update:

• The lag is fixed!
• Added back reactions for easier scrolling. p!n and p!b still work as before.
• Paginating p!info actually works now, both forwards and backwards.
• You can now use --order without + or -. The default is + for everything except iv.
• Added the --event filter to view event pokémon.
• You can now sort market by id (and +/-). c: @eager harness
• Default market search order is now id-, for most recent listings first.
• Default auctions search order is now ends-, for ending soon first.

Also, there have been some smaller changes recently that haven't been announced:

• Redeem spawning a pokémon will now reserve 30s of time where nothing else will spawn.
• Pokémon with multiple trade evolutions now work properly (e.g. Clamperl).
• URLs are no longer allowed in nicknames. c: @ancient night

You can now favorite in bulk with p!favall and p!unfavall, using filters similar to p!pokemon and p!nickall. Example: p!favall --iv > 80

To make commands more consistent, the behavior of p!fav (which used to toggle between favorited/unfavorited) has changed. You now must use p!fav to favorite pokémon, and p!unfav to unfavorite pokémon. This is a breaking change.

You can now use the new filters --triple --quadruple --quintuple --sextuple to search pokémon by IV. For example, p!pokemon --triple 31 would look for pokémon which have three individual IV stats equal to 31.

Redeem Trading & Purchase Limit <@&721912092776726589>

Redeems are now tradeable with the p!trade add redeem <amt> command. We hope that this change will help prevent instances of players being scammed by other trainers. To accompany this change, the redeem purchasing limit of 20 per month has also been removed.

The command to add Pokécoins to a trade has also been changed to p!trade add pc <amt> to better mirror this addition and other changes that may come in the future. Thus, the commands for adding/removing items are now:

• p!trade add <...ids> to add Pokémon
• p!trade addall [...filters] to bulk add Pokémon

Hi all! There have been many concerning events occurring recently, so I wanted to remind everyone of the following:

1. Any form of automating user accounts, including autocatching, is a violation of our rules as well as the Discord Terms of Service. Please don't do it—while you might gain a slight advantage, it's unfair to other players and puts strain on the bot and Discord. Not to mention, using autocatchers or advertising autocatching servers can get your account banned from both Pokétwo and Discord.

2. Trading Pokécoins or Pokémon with any real money or other bot currencies is prohibited. Items obtained through these purchases can be confiscated, and your account banned. Please respect the hard work of other players and don't cheat the system. If you wish to support the bot with real money, you can always donate on our website.

3. Be wary of any suspicious files sent to you by individuals. Very often, executables advertised as being autocatchers or promising free money or items are actually token grabbers that give the attacker full access to your Discord account, or worse, steal other personal info from your computer. Don't open untrusted files!

4. There have been instances of malicious users creating fake bots to scam players. Pay attention to the verified checkmark on the bot tag! The real bot will also always have the ID 716390085896962058. At the time, there is no official bot other than this one. If you're still not sure whether a bot is real or not, checking the bot account's profile can help.

5. Lastly, be wary of users impersonating staff members. Note that just reading the username and discriminator is not enough! The easiest and most effective way to combat this is to check the profile—badges, connections, servers—if the user you are talking to. For example, my account will always look like this: https://imgur.com/a/CgYcqFV.

User Account Automation @everyone

There has been a large influx of people getting banned by Discord recently due to user account automation. While this has not been made explicitly clear in the past, any "auto" programs, including but not limited to selfbots and macros, can get your account banned. This includes autotypers, autocatchers, and more. They put lots of unnecessary load on both Discord and bot infrastructure. Being in servers with these programs also comes with this risk as well.

If you are running such a program at the moment, please turn it off immediately. Server owners should also take action on individuals violating this rule. If you are in a server with such a program, and the owner condones it, we recommend you leave the server to avoid any risks.

The #716390832034414688 channel is also being removed due to the large amount of automated activity.

Generation 8 (Galar) Pokémon

This has been requested ever since the bot came out and, thanks to the work of many people, is finally here! Special thanks to @lucid cliff, @thorn perch, @hasty sandal, @slate sage for working on the shiny recoloring, @heavy heart and @nova karma for helping me load the new data into the bot, and the entire staff team for contributing as well.

Note that this is still an initial release that's missing some data. More data will be filled in later, as we figure it out. For example, some Generation 8 forms, like Galarians, are supported and will spawn naturally, but some won't spawn yet—we've added some more details to the p!pokedex <pokemon> command for this.

We're starting to add Quests to the bot, giving you some more things to do and opportunities to earn Pokécoins. Today, we're adding a couple permanent quests regarding catching Pokémon from each region. Do p!quests to check them out! Limited-time Event Pokémon

For the next week, we'll have two limited-time event pokémon to celebrate Pokétwo's birthday and the release of Generation 8: Shadow Mewtwo and Anniversary Wooloo. Navigation buttons have been added to the bottom of most paginated commands. You can still use the p!n and p!b commands to move back and forth, but we encourage you to use the buttons, as it is more convenient and puts less strain on the bot.

A look at the future @everyone

Just now, Discord announced that message content would become privileged in April 2022, meaning that bots in over 100 servers will no longer receive that information without approval. Essentially, the current way of using bots by sending prefixed messages like p!pokemon in chat will be phased out. Instead, Discord is encouraging bots and users to move to their new Interactions and Components APIs—this includes slash commands, buttons, select menus, and upcoming context menus, forms, and more.

We're working on getting support for slash commands in Pokétwo, and will release an update in the near future with both command types supported. During this transition period, we encourage people to learn slash commands, get used to them, and build muscle memory. After that, the next major version of Pokétwo will be slash-command-only.

Regarding discord.py's end of development <@&721912092776726589>

Yesterday, Danny, the developer and maintainer of discord.py, a library for writing Discord Bots in Python, and the library that Pokétwo is currently written with, posted a writeup detailing his end of involvement with the project, largely due to Discord's recent changes to the API and unwillingless to listen to developers. I want to assure everybody that this does not change anything about Pokétwo. Though mainline development of the discord.py won't continue, the library as it is right now is fairly stable and should last quite a while. In addition, any breakages of the API can be made by me or other users of the library in a fork.

In addition, I've been planning on moving off discord.py in Pokétwo's rewrite for quite a while now, for a variety of reasons. I haven't had much free time to make significant progress on it, but it's there, and I've been working on it from time to time, and even if discord.py in its current state becomes unusable, it'll be completed long before then.

This special variant of Turtwig undertakes photosynthesis with its body, making oxygen. The oak leaf on its head turns yellow if it's thirsty.

This Grotle knows where pure water stores itself during Autumn, and carries fellow Pokémon there on its back.

Small Pokémon occasionally gather on this Torterra's unmoving shell to hibernate through Autumn and Winter.

Some Bulbasaur variants that are born in the Autumn have a pumpkin instead of a seed on their backs to match the environment.

In Autumn, this Eevee likes to celebrate nature with headdresses like flowers and wooden beads.

Although the Autumn leaves are crispy, some variants of Leafeon have tails with fantastic sharp edges that can slice right through large trees.

Dedicated Support Server @everyone

In the past, we've handled player support—things like reports, account transfers, and incense refunds—through DMs with our staff team. Although this worked well when we were smaller, we realize that it is not an ideal solution, both for players and staff, since we often need to internally shuffle information around, which can be time-consuming and difficult.

Today, we're opening a new dedicated support server to handle all these requests instead. From today on, if you need support, please join this server and follow the instructions instead of DMing a staff member. The help desk contains solutions for a few common problems and lets you open a ticket if you need further support, where you can talk directly to our team.

These Terms are a contract that defines what is acceptable use of Pokétwo and its related services, and violations of these Terms may result in the suspension of your account. Please read these Terms carefully; not knowing the content is not an excuse for violating them.

Going forward, new users will be explicitly prompted to agree to the Terms when they pick starter Pokémon. For existing users, if you have not done so yet, Pokétwo will prompt you to read, understand, and accept these Terms before granting you continued access to the bot. If you choose not to accept these new user terms, you will no longer able to use Pokétwo.

🎉🎉 Happy Second Birthday, Pokétwo! 🎉🎉 @everyone

It's May 30, 2022, and that means it's been exactly two years since Pokétwo was created!
This year, we're celebrating with some big updates:

1️⃣ New Hisuian Pokémon & Forms

This has been requested for a while, and we're finally adding them. This includes 26 new Pokémon and forms:

Wyrdeer, Kleavor, Ursaluna, Basculegion, Sneasler, Overqwil, Enamorus, Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Arcanine, Hisuian Voltorb, Hisuian Electrode, Hisuian Typhlosion, Hisuian Qwilfish, Hisuian Sneasel, Hisuian Samurott, Hisuian Lilligant, Hisuian Zorua, Hisuian Zoroark, Hisuian Braviary, Hisuian Sliggoo, Hisuian Goodra, Hisuian Avalugg, Hisuian Decidueye, Origin Palkia, Origin Dialga, and Therian Enamorus

Most of these will spawn naturally in the wild (except for the last three) and many of them can be obtained via evolution too. Of course, you can also redeem the ones that spawn naturally!

2️⃣ Limited-time Event Pokémon

For the next two weeks (until <t:1655535540:F>), the following Pokémon are available to catch in the wild:

• Sprouting Oddish
• Bouquet Shaymin
• Cherry Blossom Cottonee
• Spring Fever Cubchoo
• Eternal Flower Floette

These can also be obtained from redeems and from vote boxes.
In addition, there is also another event Pokémon Anniversary Sunflora that cannot be caught in the wild but can be obtained from...

3️⃣ Anniversary Bingo Event

To celebrate anniversary, we're running a Bingo event for the next two weeks (until <t:1655535540:F>). Each player will receive a randomized Bingo board of 25 different quests (one of them is a free space). Every time you complete a quest, you will receive an Anniversary Box which you can open with p!anniversary open to receive random rewards. However, what's more exciting are the Bingos:

When you complete all five quests in a row, a column, or one of the two diagonals on the 5×5 board, you will receive 10,000 pokécoins in addition to another Anniversary Box. There are 12 Bingos per board, and on your third Bingo, you will receive the limited-time event Pokémon Anniversary Sunflora (can also be received in Anniversary Boxes).

If you manage to complete all 25 quests, you can also reset the board to get a new set of quests and restart your Bingos!

You must run this command once before quests are generated for you.

Anniversary Bingo Event Extended

Due to some issues with the initial release of the event, we are extending the event until <t:1655621940:F>.
