The U.S. military has introduced Ukrainian counter-drone technology in recent weeks at a key U.S. air base in Saudi Arabia, according to five people with knowledge of the matter, as it seeks to stem attacks that have destroyed aircraft and buildings, and killed at least one service member.

The deployment of a Ukrainian command-and-control platform called ‌Sky Map at Prince Sultan Air Base, which has not previously been reported, is a sign of how Ukraine’s military has surged ahead in drone and counter-drone technologies that have been battle-hardened in its four-year war with Russia.

Tasnim news update on SoH closure

Qalibaf: Reopening the Strait of Hormuz is not possible with a gross violation of the ceasefire.

Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly:
🔹 A complete ceasefire only has meaning if it is not violated by a maritime blockade and the hostage-taking of the world's economy, and if the Zionists' warmongering on all fronts is halted.

🔹 Reopening the Strait of Hormuz is not possible in gross violation of the ceasefire.

🔹 They did not achieve their goals through military aggression, and they will not achieve them through bullying either.

These two ships are reportedly now in IRGC custody and being directed to the Iranian coast.

A third vessel has also in the last hour been reportedly attacked.

Iranian forces have attacked multiple container ships from the European shipping company MSC as they ran the Strait of Hormuz this morning.

One vessel suffered heavy damage to its bridge.

The Iranian souce of the Iranian claim was posted earlier along with information on the vessels reportedly seized:

The UKMTO issued warnings of an incident in the vicinity, though it is unknown if they refer to the same vessels in the Iranian claim.

The shipwreck blusky account is an "osint" aggregator that generally doesn't post sources. In this case, they may be conflating the UKMTO and Iranian reports, but I'm not sure what or how strong the evidence is for that.

Just checked Lloyd's list:

https://www.lloydslist.com/LL1156987/Iran-claims-seizure-of-two-MSC-operated-boxships-while-transiting-the-Strait-of-Hormuz

They note that:

  • In addition to MSC FRANCESCA, the IRGC claims to have seized the EPAMINONDAS, which Lloyd's identifies as chartered by MSC. This appears to corroborate `@shipwreck75.bsky.social's1 claim that "Iranian forces have attacked multiple container ships from the European shipping company MSC."
  • Lloyd's cites Vanguard Security - a prominent maritime security firm - as clarifying that it was the EPAMINONDAS that sustained damage to the bridge.

Lloyd's List is one of the maritime industry's most authoritative publications; Vanguard Security is a widely cited maritime security intelligence firm.

# timid jungle ## Iran Media outlet Tasnim posts video of boarding of MSC FRANCESCA and EPAMINO...

I don't think it's too speculative to say that this video seems to show a lot of choices that indicate how much propaganda planning went into seizing the ship. The shots of the guys climbing the ladder and the camera person seemingly walking back down the hall so the commando could point his gun down it towards them shows at the very least they were confident this would go easily. Ditto for later as the camera holder casually walks in front of a doorway to the bridge they had yet to "clear".

But if you go back to the JCPOA you find that the same thing happened, where Iran had its own deliberative process about engaging the US that lasted for a long time. Issue is there is no Obama administration to soothe their concerns, just a far-right US and Israel who are still poised to attack.

He is not talking about strikes on facilities. He is talking about Trump, Bessent and other admin officials claiming that if Iran is forced to curtail production, it will cause permanent damage to their oil infrastructure due to the pressure dynamics of extracting oil. In reality they have curtailed production many times without such damage occurring, though perhaps not to the same extent. As for the GCC states, what I've read is it would take mere weeks to restart production at facilities that were spared the fighting.

I didn't realise quite how many civilian / commercial / grey zone speedboats use the SOH.

"Here in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s mosquito fleet is winning the blockade.
Despite the loss of its conventional navy, Tehran is finding it easier to hold the world to ransom than expected – as our reporter witnessed.

It is here that the speedboats play a vital role. Most of those racing past us are innocuous enough. Some are smugglers, others licensed, most operating in the grey zone between.

With petrol in Iran costing less than half the price than in the Gulf, fuel smuggling is lucrative. Boats cross laden with plastic drums, then return with supermarket goods and electronics. Larger vessels carry second-hand cars, though many now stay clear for fear of mines.
For coastal communities outside cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat, this trade is an economic lifeline.
It also provides perfect cover. IRGC speedboats and fishing dhows blend seamlessly into the traffic, able to drop mines over the stern without specialised equipment. In the haze, spotting them is harder still. Some intelligence estimates suggest Iran used dozens of such vessels to lay as many as 150 mines in a 48-hour period in early April.
It is hard to see them and harder to stop them,” one Western defence official says. “For the moment, the best solution for clearing the strait is diplomacy."

It would be an indirect indicator, but the Lloyd's Maritime Association's Joint War Committee could give insight on when ships consider transit to be safe enough again.

If they're hearing that ships don't think it's safe to transit and then JWC is informing insurers that ships transiting are at elevated risk of attack; that'd be de facto closure of the straight.

Paying the SoH toll risks OFAC sanctions

Released earlier this week (28 April):

  1. Are "toll" payments to Iran for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz authorized?

No. Payments to the Government of Iran or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), directly or indirectly, for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would not be authorized for U.S. persons, including U.S. financial institutions, or for U.S.-owned or -controlled foreign entities.

**Such payments also create significant sanctions exposure for non-U.S. persons. **Specifically, foreign financial institutions and other non-U.S. persons risk exposure to sanctions for engaging in certain transactions or activities involving designated or otherwise blocked persons. This includes the Government of Iran and the IRGC, which is sanctioned pursuant to several authorities, including nonproliferation and counterterrorism sanctions authorities, and is designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organizatio

The WSJ on the blockade's effectiveness:

Some 44 commercial vessels working for Iran have been ordered to turn around or return to port, U.S. Central Command, which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, said Thursday. There is no evidence any Iranian oil cargo has crossed the U.S. blockade and reached Chinese customers or other buyers, according to Kpler, a commodities-data company. [emphasis added]

TankerTrackers asserts that at least one tanker has evaded the blockade and has reached the Far East. While they have a track record monitoring vessels that sail dark (operating with AIS disabled), without sharing their evidence, the claim is uncorroborated.

📰 U.S. Military Supports Launch of Project Freedom in Strait of Hormuz
TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces will begin supporting Project Freedom, May 4, to restore freedom of navigation for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

The mission, directed by the President, will support merchant vessels seeking to freely transit through the essential international trade corridor. A quarter of the world’s oil trade at sea and significant volumes of fuel and fertilizer products are transported through the strait.

“Our support for this defensive mission is essential to regional security and the global economy as we also maintain the naval blockade,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander.

The UAE, meanwhile, reported a fire at an oil installation in its port of Fujairah following an Iranian drone attack. Fujairah lies beyond the strait, making it one of the few export routes for Middle East oil that does require passing through it.

📰 U.S. Forces Disable Vessel in Gulf of Oman Attempting to Violate Blockade
TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. forces operating in the Gulf of Oman enforced blockade measures by disabling an Iranian-flagged unladen oil tanker attempting to sail toward an Iranian port at 9 a.m. ET, May 6.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces observed M/T Hasna as it transited international waters enroute to an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman. American forces issued multiple warnings and informed the Iranian-flagged vessel it was in violation of the U.S. blockade.

After Hasna’s crew failed to comply with repeated warnings, U.S. forces disabled the tanker’s rudder by firing several rounds from the 20mm cannon gun of a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet launched from USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Hasna is no longer transiting to Iran.

The U.S. blockade against ships attempting to enter or depart Iranian ports remains in full effect. CENTCOM forces continue to act deliberately and pro…

Maritime Civilian Harm: 8 Seafarer's Injured in Yesterday's Attack on the Container Ship SAN ANTONIO

Eight crew members of the San Antonio were wounded, the UN’s International Maritime Organization said, in the 32nd such incident since the war began.

France was not specifically targeted, government spokesperson Maud Bregeon said, adding the crew were from the Philippines.

A maritime security source said the ‌ship was struck by an Iranian projectile while attempting a night transit near Oman.

USN TRACKING: Traversing the Epic Fury Blockade Line
︀︀Imagery from today (May 6) gives us an excellent look at the USN deployment along the blockade line in the Northern Arabian Sea / Gulf of Oman.

︀︀
︀︀🔸Center: Further north is the San Antonio Class USS New Orleans (LPD-18) & 1x Independence Class LCS to her west.
︀︀
︀︀🔸Far North: Another Independence Class LCS is operating completely solo, roughly 70km off the Iran/Pakistan border.
︀︀
︀︀The northern LCS placement is highly intriguing. With virtually no air defense and no visible escorts spotted nearby, it's a very bold spot to hang out.

CENTCOM statement on US actions during today's hostilities in the Strait of Hormuz

U.S. forces intercepted unprovoked Iranian attacks and responded with self-defense strikes as U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers transited the Strait of Hormuz to the Gulf of Oman, May 7.

Iranian forces launched multiple missiles, drones and small boats as USS Truxtun (DDG 103), USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115), and USS Mason (DDG 87) transited the international sea passage. No U.S. assets were struck.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) eliminated inbound threats and targeted Iranian military facilities responsible for attacking U.S. forces including missile and drone launch sites; command and control locations; and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance nodes.

IRGC Navy Appears to Seize US Sanctioned Iranian Affiliated Tanker

IRIB News reports seizure of the oil tanker OCEAN KOI (IMO: 9255933 - renamed in March 2026 JIN LI per equasis)

Maritime Intelligence firm Tanker Trackers notes that the vessel is US sanctioned and has been observed regularly transporting Iranian oil to China - basically suggesting Iran seized one of it's own affiliated ships.

The Barbados-flagged OCEAN KOI (IMO 9255933), owned by Marshall Island-based Ocean Kudos Shipping Co Ltd, has transported millions of barrels of Iranian high sulfur fuel oil (HSFO) and condensate since May 2025. The OCEAN KOI has operated as part of the Iranian shadow fleet since at least 2020.
Source: US Department of Treasury February 25, 2026 Press Release

According to IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) News, the Iranian Navy had conducted a special operation to seize an "offending tanker" named "OCEAN KOI" for attempting to export Iranian oil.

Amit Segal once again reports the thinking in Israel's decisionmaking circles as tough choices loom:
https://x.com/AmitSegal/status/2052378289193222239?s=20

A severe dispute has erupted—and still persists—between the army and the Mossad over the ultimate goal of the war in Iran. The IDF views the removal of uranium from Iranian territory as the ultimate achievement. The Mossad, however, believes the objective is toppling the regime. Even today, contrary to the retrospective cover-your-ass culture prevalent in our region, the Mossad insists on this. While the IDF settled for the amorphous definition of “creating the conditions to topple the regime,” the Mossad simply dropped the first four words.

The practical expression of this lies in a hypothetical question: What happens if President Trump tells Israel, “You have a green light for one operation”? Most of the defense establishment would say thank you and send the Air Force to raid the uranium stockpiles. The Mossad, one might guess, would support destroying energy plants and refineries, literally plunging Iran into total darkness. This would drastically accelerate the population’s rebellion process. Their anger threshold has already surpassed the levels recorded during the January riots, but simultaneously, the fear threshold has also spiked. When there is no electricity—and with starvation expected to begin in Iran in two months—that wall of fear will collapse.

Which goal is more ambitious? At first glance, toppling the regime seems like a monumental task, while destroying the uranium appears to be a localized, manageable event. But history suggests otherwise: regimes have fallen throughout history, but no country has ever willingly surrendered or lost its enriched nuclear material while the government survived.

A severe dispute has erupted—and still persists—between the army and the Mossad over the ultimate goal of the war in Iran. The IDF views the removal of uranium from Iranian territory as the ultimate achievement. The Mossad, however, believes the objective is toppling the regime.

CENTCOM Commander: 1 Civilian Casualty Investigation from 13,629 Munitions used in Conflict

Quite the exchange between Senator Gillibrand and Admiral Cooper

Gillibrand: Have you been implementing all the laws that are required under current law to minimize civilian death?

Cooper: Senator, we have executed every operation consistent with the law of armed conflict. Civilian casualties is a particular passion of mine, we pay attention to it, we follow all the procedures, and we've gone above and beyond to, in my case, personally warn Iranian people of several instances during conflict where they were potentially being used as human shields.

Gillibrand: If they had been warned, they how did we then bomb 22 schools?

Cooper: There's no indication that we have that that has been corroborated. Zero -

Gillibrand: How many schools have we bombed?

Cooper: There is one active civilian casualty investigation from the 13,629 munitions.

Gillibrand: So then how do you explain the publicly available information that 22 schools have been hit and multiple hospitals?

Cooper: There's no way we can corroborate that. No indication of that whatsoever, Senator.

Gillibrand: There's no WAY you can corroborate or no indication of it, which one?

Cooper: No indication.

Gillibrand: Well the indication is what's publicly available. There is indication. Have you investigated those claims?

Cooper: We have not.

Gillibrand: Why have you not? If this is a passion of yours, if you believe that civilian casualties are not consistent with the laws of war and not consistent with human rights obligations, that our military regularly follows with great pride and great diligence, why have you not investigated those allegations when they're publicly being made on the cover of New York Times?

A US military investigation into a blast at an elementary school in Minab, a city in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, is “complex” because the school was located on an active Iranian cruise missile site, US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper told Congress on Tuesday.

I was very surprised to read this claim in a few news articles today. I was wondering if anyone has any OSINT data to lend or remove credibility from this assertion?

Following this closely for work. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time Cooper or any US official has publicly characterized the site as an active cruise missile site — would genuinely welcome a correction if someone's seen it used earlier.

There's plenty of prior reporting on the history of an IRGC facility at the location, but this appears to be the first time it's been described as active at the time of the stirke..

Here's a Google Doc with the full transcript of the exchange(link)

Key exchange:

REP. SMITH: It's been 80 days thereabouts since the initial bombing campaign that struck the girls school in Iran. Killed, I think, over 150 school girls. It's really pretty clear what happened there. But 80 days on, we have not taken responsibility for that attack. The endless stalling — "it's being investigated, it's being investigated, it's being investigated." In the past when we've had these types of mistakes, they have been quickly acknowledged even if a further investigation is necessary to figure out prevention methods. Can you at this moment acknowledge that that mistake was made and that we were responsible for it?

[Cooper declines to acknowledge responsibility, restating that the US does not deliberately target civilians. Smith presses him to answer the specific question.]

ADM. COOPER: It's a complex investigation. The school itself is located on an active IRGC cruise missile base. It's more complex than the average strike. As soon as we're complete, I'm fully committed to transparency given your important oversight role and the other members here.

I know that there were previous analyses mapping IRGC facilities nearby (in the same complex?) as the school, but surely there's enough prior imagery to measure the claim:

Helpful Historical Context: Gulf of Oman 2019 Tanker Bombings

Sal Mercogliano of What's Going on in Shipping shared the following as "must read":

Glad I followed his advice. The author, Anas Al-Haji, is an energy analyst, instant follow and add to my X List for the region.

He draws a parallel between the April attacks on the Indian tankers Jag Arnav and Sanmar Herald ) and the May 2019 limpet mine bombings of four tankers near Fujairah. His argument: there were elements within the IRGC that had a material interest in disrupting the peace process then, and something similar may be at work now.

🔴What Did We Learn from the 2019 Oil Tanker Explosions in the Sea of Oman?🔴 Anas Al-Haji At the beginning of the summer of 2019, specifically on June 12, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Tehran. The visit was historic on several levels: It was the first visit by a Japanese prime minister to the Iranian regime since the 1979 revolution. 🧿It carried a personal message from U.S. President Donald Trump to the then Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei. 🧿It came after Trump canceled the nuclear agreement signed by President Obama with the Iranian regime, amid escalating risks. 🧿The goal was to play the role of mediator for de-escalation between the two sides. Abe met with President Hassan Rouhani on June 12, and the next day, June 13, he met with Supreme Leader Khamenei. Helpful (though somewhat messy visualization) May 19-20 vessel transits

The takeaway is that most transits are occurring through the Iranian approved route.

https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/maritime-news/34/risk-and compliance/2026/12966/strait-of-hormuz-daily-maritime-risk-and-transit-monitor-may

NEW | Iran is likely using the ceasefire period to normalize Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz by compelling oil-importing countries to establish a bilateral transit agreement with Iran while charging fees from vessels that are not part of the bilateral deals.
︀︀
︀︀These fees are framed as “security” fees, but the fees are in reality part of a mafia-esque protection racket in which the vessels pay Iran so that the Iranian navy can “secure” the vessels against an attack by the Iranian navy or Iranian shore-based missiles and drones.
︀︀
︀︀A successful Iranian effort to normalize this structure would gradually increase the number of vessels moving through the strait to near pre-war levels.
︀︀
︀︀This reduces the visible economic costs of restricted access and therefore weakens the primary argument for mobilizing US allies to help reopen the strait.

Strait of Hormuz | Vessel Crossings
︀︀
︀︀Confirmed Strait of Hormuz transits rose to 10 on 20 May from four the previous day, while the IRGC Navy stated that 26 vessels were underway following coordination and approval procedures with Iranian authorities.
︀︀
︀︀Most movements involved commercial west to east traffic, with no new Iranian export loadings observed. Although activity remained broadly low risk, it included two sanctioned vessels and one shadow vessel, while opaque routing patterns picked up d/d. Reports suggest Tehran is preparing a permit based transit framework to present in negotiations, potentially involving vessel vetting, state coordination and safe passage fees.
︀︀
︀︀The emerging structure points to a more formalised IRGC managed clearance regime. Mobility is improving incrementally, but access remains conditional, politically controlled and exposed to rapid disruption.

Trump just threw a massive wrench into the Iran negotiations. In a lengthy new post, Trump said it should be “mandatory” that Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and others sign onto the Abraham Accords as part of any deal involving Iran.

That comes after Trump reportedly stunned leaders of several Arab and Muslim nations during a Saturday conference call by demanding they normalize relations with Israel if an Iran war deal is reached.

According to U.S. officials familiar with the call, leaders, especially from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan, which do not have formal diplomatic relations with Israel, were caught completely off guard.

“There was silence on the line and Trump joked and asked if they are still there,” one official said.

Now Trump is publicly escalating the demand, saying countries that refuse “should not be part of this Deal.”

Iran state television says it has obtained a draft of the Washington-Tehran MoU. Main points for oil:
︀︀
︀︀1) US will lift blockade and withdraw from Iran's waters.
︀︀2) Iran will allow commercial vessel transit via Strait of Hormuz to return to pre-war levels within 30 days.
︀︀3) Iran and Oman will administer a SoH mechanism.
︀︀
︀︀(While the above has been mooted by others, it's the first time that Iranian state television, tightly controlled by the regime, reports about those points)

Barak Ravid is reposting WH denial of this MoU, so still undetermined:

This report from Iranian controlled media is not true and the MOU they “released” is a complete fabrication. Nobody should believe what Iranian state media is putting out. FACTS MATTER.

JUST IN: Iranian state TV has published what it claims is a new draft proposal for peace with the U.S. — and it reportedly still clashes with several major American red lines.

︀︀The proposal allegedly includes demands tied to Iran’s nuclear program and future enforcement measures, while also calling for $20 billion in frozen funds to be released as part of the deal.
︀︀
︀︀VP Vance says he’s hopeful an agreement can still be reached, but warned the administration is focused on securing a deal that Iran won’t violate in the future.

BREAKING: The IRGC says it has retaliated against the United States by attacking a U.S. airbase in Kuwait.

Just hours earlier, Axios @barakravid80 reported that the Islamic Republic fired four one-way attack drones at a U.S. commercial ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a senior U.S. official, the U.S. military shot down the drones and struck another Iranian drone-launching unit before it could launch additional attacks.

# balmy trail I’m not very clued up on sanctions and enforcement, can someone with knowledge p...

The US can apply tremendous political/economic pressure for a desired outcome. One tool would be sanctions (which is under Bessent's department).

If the US decided to sanction Iranian airlines (for providing material support to the regime, or some other rationale), that has the immediate impact of penalizing US citizens or companies for doing business with them.

So at first glance, it just hits US entities. But any other person or company that deals with a sanctioned org is at risk of secondary sanctions.

**Why would a non-US entity care about secondary sanctions? **

The tl;dr is that secondary sanctions effectively lock someone out of the dollar-based finance system, which is a pretty big deal. Since nearly every global transaction touches the dollar somewhere, most airports, fuel suppliers, and ticketing platforms would likely drop Iran than risk their dollar access.

This is in addition to things like reading “body language”, commenting on the way any person reacts to a traumatic experience, examining handwriting, commenting on the state of mind of a person (eg, “they’re acting like [diagnosis]), or your own feelings (“this isn’t adding up!”).

US Disables Gambia-Flagged, UAE-Owned Lian Star (IMO: 9072692) with Hellfire Missile

The vessel appear to be under US OFAC sanctions. Equasis records show prior use of a false flag registration.

📰 U.S. Forces Disable Non-Compliant Vessel in Gulf of Oman to Prevent Blockade Violation
TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. forces operating in the Gulf of Oman enforced blockade measures by disabling a Gambia-flagged maritime vessel attempting to sail toward an Iranian port, May 29.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces observed M/V Lian Star transiting international waters toward an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman and issued more than 20 warnings while informing the vessel it was in violation of the U.S. blockade.

A U.S. aircraft disabled the vessel by firing a Hellfire missile into the ship’s engine room after Lian Star’s crew failed to comply. The ship is no longer transiting to Iran.

U.S. forces have disabled five commercial vessels and redirected 116 to fully enforce the blockade as a ceasefire with Iran remains in effect.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/iran-says-contradictory-us-positions-israeli-attacks-lebanon-delaying-diplomacy-2026-06-01/

Baghaei said that if contradictory messages were part of a U.S. negotiating tactic, they would not work with Iran, while if they reflected disarray within the U.S. administration, Washington should reach a clear and definitive position as soon as possible.

Baghaei said Tehran viewed Israeli actions in the region, including in Lebanon, as inseparable from those of the U.S., adding that any agreement to end the regional conflict would have to include implementation ‌of the Lebanon ceasefire.

Reuters

Iran on Monday blamed the slow pace of efforts to end the U.S.-Iran conflict on a lack of trust, contradictory positions from Washington ‌and continued Israeli attacks in the region.

“Also, the resistance front and Iran have resolved to completely block the Strait of Hormuz and activate other fronts including the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, in order to punish the Zionists and their supporters,” the report said.
I feel like this deserves a highlight as it would be a significant escalation and as far as I know this is the first time Iran is pulling this lever.

Urgent/ Iran stops exchanging messages with the US in protest of Zionist crimes

The determination of the Iranian armed forces and all the axes of the resistance front to react to Zionist crimes and open new fronts

▪️ Tasnim's information indicates that due to the continuation of the Zionist regime's crimes in Lebanon and considering that Lebanon was one of the preconditions for the ceasefire and now this ceasefire has been violated on all fronts including Lebanon, the Iranian negotiating team will stop "talks and exchange of texts through mediation".

[▪️] (emoji/5888814970757454134) The immediate cessation of the aggressive and brutal operations of the Zionist regime army in Gaza and Lebanon and the necessity of the regime's complete withdrawal from the occupied areas in Lebanon have been emphasized by Iranian officials and negotiators, and until the opinion of Iran and the resistance in this regard, there will be no dialogue.

▪️ Also, the Resistance Front and Iran have put their determination to completely block the Strait of Hormuz, and activate other fronts, including the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in order to punish the Zionists and their supporters. [Emphasis Added at the suggestion Craig]

I posted the mine footage over there because:

  1. I haven't seen an explosive specialist confirm it as a naval mine yet
  2. I don't know if it's recycled footage and only surfacing now because of the Omani warning.

The boom crew at #bombs-arms-drones-other-killing-machines are pretty helpful on those points.
