here's a screencap of the el debate stream from ~0508. towards the center of the screen, there's a little pinprick of red light. a few seconds before, that's where a strike hit. the red light has been growing for the past ~10 minutes, but it's more diffuse and harder to see now--hence why I think it's a fire

After that, I set the playback speed to 2x and that eventually catches me back up to the present without missing any of the feed.

I was only able to watch it for a short time but it could help for geo-location of activity. Ashkelon is blindingly bright against the darkness of Gaza, and when activity happens from the sky, it can be easy to pin point a direction against the lit up buildings of Ashkelon.

i know there were some concerns about geolocating the cameras and posting their locations on a public server like this one, because doing so might put the operators in danger, but if someone did have the location, would it be possible to use that + the direction of the shadows from the strikes at night to quickly confirm reports of airstrikes on a location (i.e. at al-quds hospital, see #1160893738973929493 message) ? obviously it would only be practical at night, and it wouldn't be able to give us an exact location.

i don't know enough to say whether not that's possible/desireable given the risks

You'll hear the doppler effect of the plane flying overhead similar to a flypast and then the explosion after
drones of course can be used as well to drop munitions and you are unlikely to hear those.
pre targeted ones are unlikely to be used as they require triangulation with at least one person on the ground with a laser.
AFAIK no bombardment from the sea has started.[other thing could be artillery from the Israeli side in the form of Howziters]

I think it was maybe 4 or 5 nights ago when the cameras themselves came under direct bombardment at Gaza Port, there was debris physically hitting the roof the cameras were sitting on and you could hear the operators diving for cover

actually got genuinely scared for the lives of the camera operators up there, it must take some serious courage to stay at their posts despite the ridiculous amount of danger

I doubt ECW will even come to play a role, if and when a ground invasion is launched I expect a massive bombardment to precede it which would probably force a permanent end to these livestreams

the operators have been a brave folk so far but I doubt they're crazy enough to stick around in that circumstance

When we lost sound on the El Debate cam a few days ago and at one time when the cam went down, there was a message that the cam had no audio and was unmanned- so at that point, the operators had left. but after a few days, I did notice the same shot was being broadcast over Reuters channel at early night and there was some zooming for about an hour, but no more.
