I double checked against the original clip posted by qassambrigades on October 8 10:04AM Eastern time. My Russian speaking Estonian friend says he does hear "Cover, Cover"....It was pointed out that fighters who would have trained with Russians would have learned field commands in Russian, and that they would likely be heavily inflected. And that would be the reason they would use those commands in an operational setting.

Certainly would be easier if I spoke Russian. And it does seem that there will be debate about whether the chaotic overlap of voices makes any conclusion about a "heavily accented" interpretation of it to be impossible due to lack of clarity.

Missed this a few hours ago. Haaretz reports some details of Shin Bet-IDF communications on the "weak signals" that turned out to be the attack.

It also clarifies that the PM's office was notified of the signals of "suspicious organizing" a few hours before the attack (so early AM), but Netanyahu was asleep and his military secretary didn't wake him up.

Should go on the disinfo channel tbh. This seems to be insinuating that Israel is lying about civilian deaths in order to cover up military deaths, because they have published fewer civilians' names. But the reason you can't quickly publish civilian casualties individually like you can military casualties is their families' right to privacy; journalists have to find and reach out to every family and ask if their names can be published. In the military the unit knows who died, and they simply have a policy on name publications with potential opt outs.

Hezbollah doesn't "have" villages. They have militias that came to this (mountainous) area with their weapons and sleep in tents. They set up mortar batteries around the area and engage in artillery duels vs. IDF. What these villagers supposedly do is stay up and make sure they don't come near them, because that would make IDF shell near their village

They also get to do tell them to go away (at least legally, though it would be a very intimidating thing), because Hezbollah doesn't have military authority

I'm pretty sure Hezbollah isn't even legally allowed to have their weapons (at least all the other smaller militias disarmed at the end of the civil war) but it's just a giant elephant in the room in Lebanese politics

Retail diesel in Cyprus is $1.82 / liter according to a quick search, so as a rough proxy they probably have 1,200 liters / 300 gallons or so of diesel fuel on site at the time of the explosion. Back of the envelope math but should be ballpark. That's a tank that would fit your average 6 foot tall man comfortably but probably not allow him to take a step; not exactly mass explosion material.

I have found a geolocation that puts the camera at 31.5139938, 34.4499253. If this is the case the camera would be looking at 132° SE when looking straight into the hospital

In the first few seconds of that video we can see the stationary POV of the camera follow the trajectory of the missile/rocket for a while before zooming into it and then going back to the hospital. This is a shitty composite image I quickly made on PS where you can faintly see four dots, those are four different moments of the rocket/missile. The red line doesn't represent it's actual trajectory, but only the trajectory that it can be seen in those instants when it's in frame (and the camera is not moving). This means that the end of the line isn't necessary the actual location it might have been fired from.

One interesting thing I noticed this morning is this map posted by the IDF showing where the rocket was launched from. According to them, the rocket came from the West of the hospital, whereas the geolocated camera clearly shows the rocket gaining altitude from the S-SE. This is if we're considering this rocket (the one that has a break up mid-air) as the rocket responsible for the hospital strike

Of course, this map itself clashes with the alledged phone call that the IDF published to attribute the fault to the PIJ, in which they say the rocket was fired from the cemetery adjacent to the hospital. It's either one or the other.

fwiw, I also caught part of the press conference being broadcast on an Arabic news station with a head of the hospital reporting their hospital, and others, received a couple roof knocks. Perhaps this has already been discussed. The exact words can be retrieved from the press conference for accuracy and it could be followed up by inquiring with all hospitals for whatever data points anyone needs. Of course, it may be difficult to make contact with a head of every hospital at this moment, I imagine. It's possible to start by assessing who has contacts at what hospital.
