For gliding it's always about the position and angle of the glider itself in the air. Sharp turns and angles will reduce your speed and cause you to go into a dead drop, when handling it properly you will be able to conserve a good amount of momentum

When you climb trees, what precisely is the physics, or rather, trick to go up higher?
