I want you guys to try and consider our side of things. On a server this magnitude, it's easy for things to get really out of hand. If people are in here trying to talk about a personal matter that's LGBTQ+ related and it gets drowned out by people chatting about various other topics and conversations, that could feel really bad for such members

i'm just gonna say personally what i think of all this:
- people can talk about their experiences here and give advice to other lgbtq+, but not try to purely teach people with no context or if not asked, it makes it hard to speak in here sometimes
- i think that it's ok to have occasional shifts in topic but at a certain point we all have to cut our losses and move to another channel, where if it's all about a book or movie then we can move somewhere else with the discussion
- if a mod asks to stop, then either continue the discussion in dm's or move to another channel, don't argue because it only makes people uncomfortable or unable to hold conversations

While not cis myself, I do see this a lot in here and I do agree that a lot of people in here are VERY anti-cis in the way they talk, just because you aren’t trans, NB or other gender identities doesn’t make you not part of the LGBTQ+ community, it just means that you’re an equally important part in the community, there isn’t any “cos-agenda” nor a “Gay-agenda” it’s all just being human

I just happened by, but I would like to say that it's totally okay and sometimes even better to take convos to DMs if you don't want to move to another channel, and you can talk about things outside the scope of this channel more freely. It looks like while there are regulars, there are dozens to hundred of people who stop by this channel everyday and it can be really discouraging to see what seems like another general discussion going on.

When Elsa, Trace and I came in earlier, the conversation was about books and movies. We just asked you guys to move it to a different channel more appropriate for it. Each individual is their own so might just be better for your friend who’s becoming a teacher to find a general gender neutral term for the entire class like “good morning people” or “good morning class” and then get to know the individual students and their pronouns/preferred pronouns

Idk, it’s common where I live for teachers to semi-regularly do private talks with students about class stuff and such to make sure everyone is with, if he’s doing that he could use that as an opportunity to become a safe go-to for any LGBTQ+ students he might have and to get to know the students

I've been playing this online game for a while and making friends there and while I am very comfortable with my gender identity I've never been particularly vocal about it outside of lgbtq+ circles. So today, for the first time ever when someone asked me if I was a girl or a boy, I decided I'd answer honestly and just say I'm non-binary. And the game censors the word, every iteration of it that I tried. And I don't know it seems like such a little thing but I feel super bad right now.
