its a different game per say because the multiplayer aspect of the game has been removed. xbox 360/ps3 versions had red dead online and achievements/trophies related to it. since online mode has been scrubbed entirely, R* now includes the full base game with enhanced graphics and frame rates along with the only dlc in undead nightmare. basically its the best and definitive way to experience red dead redemption in its full glory. the most complete version of the game and probably the final one.

Because companies could care less about physical media by just having it as a license on a disc and no data is stored on the disc instead you need to download it on your console. I moved on to digital personally because it’s cheaper and there’s no point in physical copies if it’s just a license to play and that’s it.
