AI should be in games, but not for generating art etc, but proper artificial intelligence for NPC’s. Imagine playing an openworld game like GTA and each and everyone you have a chance to come across not only have their plans randomized but they can go past a shop window and be like “Hmm, I wanna try that on” and actually do so, putting their plans on hold etc. But the biggest change would be to more advanced models where they have more of a personality and understanding speech and such, and imagine RPG’s where you actually talk to the game and characters 🤩

Why putting a background on the knobs channel level for Wave Link 3 plugin?
It deceives the whole purpose of having background on your touch screen.
They should add a toggle to get back the old Wave Link 2 monochromatic style.

Hey! I’m seriously considering a stream deck to incorporate into my WFH setup. I’m primarily in Zoom/Teams/Outlook all day with a few web apps. Do you find a smaller size more useful for productivity opposed to the mk2, or is that more of a preference thing?

It's both preference and also utility, you can fit more things on more keys, personally I use multiple Stream Decks so I can keep track of and change lots of things easily without having to go into Folders, Pages or Profiles

def a personal preference thing, some might only want it for calls in which case a small deck might be idea but if you want to utilize its full functionality in all your wfh stuff then a larger deck may be ideal. It really comes down to what you want to use the deck for, your budget and you. It could also be that you dont have a lot of space on your desk for a large deck like the xl or mk.2 and the mini would fit better. there are many factors to consider for sure.

if you use the elgato screen on discord you cant use it in studio or somewhere else

USB capture cards can only be used in one app at a time.
I think it’s to do with the way usb data streams work.
(One of the reasons thunderbolt is different; because thunderbolt is actually PCIe over a cable)
But I am not an authority to say for sure that’s the reason, but it is true this is how the usb cards work, vs PCIe.

The PCIe capture cards don’t have this limitation.

But you can use OBS and then start the OBS virtual camera to repeat anything in OBS to additional apps

Elgeto camera hub does this same thing with cameras.

Yeah, as JnTracks said, this is a limit of the Windows UVC driver (USB Video Class). Mac users can actually use it with more than one app at a time since they have a different UVC driver - though they can't capture P010 with it, so no HDR capture.

There's a partial workaround in the latest feature builds of Windows for their multi-app support - but it tends to take control of your capture card and can cause a lot of issues

So in a nutshell Windows sees capture card, Windows notices 2 apps trying to use the capture card, checks history to see which app was opened first, notices that OBS (just a example) was opened first, gives control of capture card to OBS and puts Studio in queue

I have a question. If I want my mic to sound like it does in OBS on other things like Discord, prox chat, whatever and I don't need to do any EQ stuff, just noise gate and basic filters, am I better off with Voice Focus or Wave Link? Could I theoretically just use Wave Link and not bother setting up mixes but just have my filters on my mic and use my Stream Deck to swap between mics in that?

Out the effects in wave link and use that direct out for your mic as the system default input, and input for all apps.

Can't say I'm aware of any current widespread issues with the apps, aside from the Nvidia driver update that broke 4K Capture Utility for NVENC encoding, and maybe a couple hiccups from people still trying to run the apps on Win 10 after support ended. USB capture cards can't be used in more than one app at a time.
So if you want to use Streamlabs desktop, just add your capture card as a video capture source; no need for elgato studio to be running at the same time.

Who knows - Mic designs don't tend to change quickly though, especially XLR ones. Look at the SM7B - that's a popular design that's been around since 2001. Even the recent SM7dB only added a built in cloudlifter. Wave DX is a solid mic, with already low gain requirements and a solid Lewitt capsule. I imagine it'll be around a while.

Stream deck is the control software/hardware for the wave link mixer.
Lots of pros use these. So what do you need them to do?

I could add, I'm not familiar with streamerbot so I can't speak to its functions, but if it has a stream deck plugin, or can react to hotkeys, then you're all set. But yeah, all the stuff you mentioned is stream deck functions and yes, it does all that. Mostly you're talking about controlling OBS, which has a plugin, and can listen to hotkeys for anything the plugin doesn't do natively.

What mic do you have? But for any of them there are alternative mounts, they ship with adapters so they can mount on 1/4"-20, 3/8" or 5/8". The USB ones also ship with an included stand, only Wave DX doesn't have a stand out of the box.

This question seems to assume you’re using wave link.
If you’re using wave like then it is the mixer for all your computer’s audio. What goes in, gets mixed to your ears.

You could…. Select your headphones device directly as your system default, but that will mean you have no control over the volume of those sounds that don’t route through wave link. So I recommend against that.
Unless you really just want wave link to out effects on your mic and not do any volume control…

i bought elgato wave 3 1,5 years ago, and I started having issue when if I don't touch the sensor button mute/unmute for some time, and then press it, it bug between red and white, greating pinkish color, and i have to uplug/plug it back to get it to work. for example, if my mic is muted and is red, i press sensor button, and it goes bugging between red and white, and doesnt unmute. i gotta unplug it and plug it back to get it to work.

Oh wait I'm thinking the Blue Sona. Okay if you're running a headphone and aux cable from the mic into Chat Link Pro you need to be using a headset splitter, not a standard splitter. One that splits a headset TRRS Jack into headphone TRS and mic TRS or TS. Otherwise the pins won't match what Chat Link Pro expects, as it expects a TRRS headset plug

Chat Link doesn't capture mic audio, it only splits audio out from the console. It's a passive cable, so it can't amp a mic up to line level to mix it into the main feed.

Generally you add a mic to your computer and mix your voice back in at the comptuer side

For whatever you did to affect video quality though, you should detail that over in #capture-cards

Chat link gets the audio from the console, including other people's voice. You use a mic on the computer and mic your own back in.

You could also look at a mixamp that can boost the audio from the mic too, but those cost a good bit more than a Chat Link, and usually you'd want the dedicated mic on the computer for better audio than a headset mic anyway

Happen to have a case/ticket number on that? I know someone who might be able to see what's going on there.
But yes, it can't cpature HDR on mac because there's no P010 support in the macOS UVC driver, it'll tonemap it to SDR for capture, and continue to passthrough the HDR to the HDMI OUT on the card for an external display.

On Windows there's P010 support so you can capture HDR too, at up to 4:2:0 chroma.

Restart both the Stream Deck and Wave Link apps. If that doesn't work, disconect Stream Deck+, restart Wave Link and don't plug it in til it says to connect a device. Failing that, cold reboot, power off the PC entirely, wait 20-30 seconds before powering back on (if the Stream Deck+ is on a powered hub and doesn't shut off, disconnect it while you're waitng on the PC)

Very odd issue lately. Whenever I open my Stream Deck XL software, it keeps doing an update to version 7.1.1. Every single time. Sometimes it gives me an error, stating I need to go to the website.

So you're trying to use the standalone Voice Focus VST plugin?
If you're trying to use Wave Link without an Elgato USB Mic or XLR interface, or a Stream Deck+, you'll need to use the Wave Link 3 beta. Wave Link 2 required specific hardware to activate, Wave Link 3 does not but is still in beta

The standalone VST can also be loaded directy into apps like OBS if you use that instead

What's the proper way to mount a SM7B on a Wave Mic Arm (LP)? I ask because no matter what I try, so far trying to rotate the mic to face a different direction just causes the adapter to unscrew from the actual Mic Arm.

Position it as you want, facing the direction you want, then adjust the locking nut (the disc on the mount bolt on the arm) to pressed against the mic mount to provide friction to lock everything into place.

Unable to connect to the audio router.
You can manually start the audio router by opening 'C:\Program Files\Elgato\Volume Controller\ElgatoAudioControlServer.exe'.

Controlling all volumes with this plugin definitely doesn't work; has anyone found a definitive solution? I'm almost giving up.

Yeah it works really well, I'm so used to using keyboard shortuts for everything that I can just assign all of those to the SD buttons now and the dials really help for like brush controls and stuff
