Could be an issue with your ISP, assuming your phone isn't on Wifi.

You might try shutting down your computers, pull the power cable from your cable modem, leave it unplugged for at least 5 minutes, then plug it back in and let it come all the way up, then boot the computers and try the Elgato web site again.

Its definitely working for me from my phone on Wifi and from my PC, connected via ethernet.

I think I've finally figure out the issue with my Elgato Camera Hub app always closing

Camera Hub 2.2.0 expects the NVIDIA Video Effects 0.7.3 SDK (Maxine v2.0.1).
NVIDIA 0.7.6 / driver 581.57 introduced a new memory layout for NVCV images, and Elgato hasn’t patched their calls yet.
So, when Camera Hub asks the runtime to copy or map a frame, it jumps into the wrong pointer region → crash.

i say twitch first just because it does have rules and structure compared to say kick which would be more...lets say lawless in comparison and it could be overwhelming.
as for setting up streaming software...either OBS or streamlabs depending on their comfort level. Streamlabs being more user friendly and all in one compared to OBS and needed to set up the multitude of external sources for like alerts and whatnot. I do hear meld is good but haven't actually looked into it myself. They should also watch youtube videos about stream elements so they know what it can do for them.

I would also suggest don't rush to set up everything like discord servers and stuff just yet, take it step by step.

One good way to see if they like streaming first is seeing if they have a friend who streams and see if that friend would have them on as a guest or something, so they can see how comfortable they feel being on camera first and the stuff that goes into streaming. This way they are not investing tons of money into gear and then potentially not liking streaming. If they do like streaming but are uncomfy with being on cam, maybe talk to them about vtubers (however stress that if that is the route they want to go, it can get expensive upfront with models and rigging and everything).

stream deck in general is def worth it and at $40 it would def be worth but like applefreak says, with only 6 buttons it does get cramped very quickly and you will wish you had more buttons. Now the fact that there is also keylogic which turns each button into three possible actions is nice.

If anything, i'd suggest trying the mobile stream deck app first to see what you think since it gives you 6 free keys which is similar to the mini. you can see if 6 keys is enough for you or if you think you would want more in which case getting the mk.2 or XL might be the better route to go.

Profiles are more affirmative than exclusive.
You assign a specific app to a profile, and then that profile will bet selected whenever the specified app is in focus.
And the deck will return to default when no app with a specified profile is focused.

There’s obviously nothing actually wrong with the software, just the date on the cert and it’s asking for a https connection.

There's likely something non-standard going on there, or there's a different cert used for communications with an internal process that's on the same renewal cycle.

I'm sorry, rereading I realize I came across as more argumentative than I intended. Really, I'm just trying to understand the how and why, because when I make apps or plugins for myself, this is the type of situation I would want to avoid, and the explanation I am seeing doesn't mesh with how I understand things to work. Specifically, that the app certificate isn't supposed to be used to sign https connections because... well, this would happen. If the cert is being used because of a limitation or requirement on Elgato's side, that is something to be aware of because it means they have basically built a self destruct into their software (update at least annually or your plugins break) and if it is a matter of Bar Raider used the wrong cert chain and they are relying on Elgato updating the cert, this will just happen again next year.

The application signing certificate would NEVER be the one used to establish the HTTPS connection. If they did that, they would have to embed the private key on the stream deck application, which would be quite the violation of their agreement for the codesigning certificate. For HTTPS in cases like this, you would usually use a self signed certificate, as no certificate authority would ever issue a certificate for localhost or 127.0.0.1, which is what the plugins connect to.

If it is indeed just a matter of an invalid https certificate, the plugin devs could just update theier plugins to NOT validate the certificate, and everything would be great again. For codesigning, you also include a timestamp of when the application were signed, if the certificate were valid at that point in time, the signature is valid, and everything is great.

In summary, an expired codesigning certificate should not normally be able to cause this kind of problem, unless extra validation of the certificate are performed by the plugin. That is for the plugin to fail, it would have to check the signature of the streamdeck.exe file, see the cert has expired, and then back off.

And last, but not least, the Stream Deck plugin documentation says nothing about HTTPS or encryption for the connection between Streamdeck and the plugin.

The reson it seems to only affect BarRider plugins could be due to the fact that BarRider is one of the few devs making their plugins as compiled applications, while most other devs use the Elgato provided SDK for writng plugins in JavaScript/TypeScript, which are connected to the stream deck application in a completely different way

Yeah, I've been watching the conversation over on the BarRaider server, and that has given me a better understanding of what is going on, which as I understand it now, the plugins basically do a security check of the signature on the StreamDeck to make sure its running on an official driver, see the cert is expired, and fails the check.

I think the HTTPS thing is coming from BarRaider using it as an example of what the problem is like, but folks are taking it fully literal. Team it working on it with the developer in any case.
The whole thing is also getting confused because people are showing screenshots of the code signing cert, but should generally be valid as long as the code was signed while it was valid - that might just be a different cert than whatever is affected, on the same renewal cycle or something. In any case, not much else to do but wait - if you're desperate you can set the computer date back a couple days and it'll get it all working temporarily.

My understanding? Counterfeit detection. There's a lot of devices sold on Amazon that are Stream Decks in all but name, most of which run pirated versions of Elgato's driver software and plugins. These are a pain in the ass to deal with as a developer, since you're not working with them and don't know what's been changed or what hasn't by the pirates. Likewise, it's a pain when dealing with them in support

But basically for the way Elgato uses the cert, as long as it was valid when the app was published, that is valid from their perspective. And they probably have to pay to renew it. So, if BR doesn't change their validation, this will happen again next year.

You can do that, but the problem is still you'll receive a MOUNTIAN of complaints from users of the counterfeits, you still have to do some processing on. I can imagine it taking a few messages back and forth, before you realise it's a counterfeit. With popular plugins it can get quite the burden pretty fast. Doing the check and displaying the "Device unspported" would make it much faster to say "You're using a device the plugin does not support, here's a list of supported devices, have a nice day"

The cert is valid. As long as the application is published between the valid and expiration dates, that is a valid certificate. Those are the only three dates the OS cares about when validating software.

For codesigning, it doesn't matter at all. As long as the signature has been created at least 1 second before the certificate expires, it is valid, and should be accepted by anything validating it.

When I sign somethinng on a piece of paper, that's also valid forever. Code signing is supposed to work more or less the same way.

The certs I work with are a mix of TLS and SIP endpoint so expiration by 1 second means 100,000 devices drop off the network and my day turns into a waking nightmare. So ive got a bit of Cert PTSD

That's a totally different use case, and for my SIP and Web servers I renew AT LEAST 30 day prior to expiry, and have a warning at 20 days if it should fail. It's always fun when your customers call you and none of them can use the softphone, because the cert of the API server has expired. 😉

Codesigning is a different, and much more tame beast, if the cert were valid of the time of signing, it's valid forever.

Yes. Even ASIO has some latency, though it's usually lower. Wave Link has lower latency if you're listening right through the dock - if you have to listen on another device it has to hand the audio off to Windows Audio and the latency goes up

No Elgato hardware or software has asio compatibility.
And importantly, games don’t either. Before anybody goes blaming Elgato for this.
If windows adopted asio as part of its audio infrastructure and software developers followed and set up games and other apps accordingly…. Then hardware which uses asio (pro audio recording stuff, for the most part at the moment) would be the best choice for latency and asio compatibility could be added into the gaming/streaming focused hardware… and it would be great.
And it would benefit gamers.
But that’s not the case right now.

Windows would have to be a leader on that issue, if it were ever to happen.

And they aren’t exactly making updates that benefit users over the past few years. So don’t hold your breath.

If somebody found a way to sell ads on asio functionality, maybe windows would incorporate it.

Yes, all the elgato audio hardware has zero latency monitoring on the device.
You must connect analog headphones to the device's headphone port to use it, and it does not include effects, since those are processed in wave link on the host computer, which is after the input buffer so it can't be zero latency.

Because a lot of people use the software monitoring and listen through another audio device, genreally. The on device latency free monitoring only works when using the headphone jack on the back, so if folks are on something like a wirelss headset it's a no go

That difference won’t matter as much as how quiet and acoustically treated your room is.
But condensers tend to be more sensitive and typically used a little more distant from the subject, so they could pick up more noise and room.
So it’s useful for any mic, but if there’s a difference at all, it would be more useful for a condenser, in many cases.

Anyone know if there’s a way to send multiple individual programs audio via Wave Cast? I just want to isolate the Spotify and Browser audio from my stream pc so I can set the Spotify to a diff audio track

For reference I have my wave xlr and mic on my gaming pc, and just use wave cast to send audio from the stream pc back to my headphones for alerts etc. realizing if we can isolate Spotify from the stream pc I could separate the audio track for VODs, but then I can’t also hear the alerts

Quick question for you folks...currently I have my prompter on it's own master mount and a keylight next ot it also on it's own mount. I think it looks cluttered. I'm curious to know if getting a solid arm and attaching to the master mount, then mounting the prompter on the end of that...do you think it could work or would the wright be too much for it?

That's what I've done at the moment - my prompter is on a Solid Arm connected to the Master Mount holding up my Ring Light.

I am struggling to get my streamdeck to work with sim racing. I used the rockit icon to set up the open function. I then went to my pc to find iRacing and looked for the Open File Location. I clicked on it and got to the iRacing UI. I right clicked to get to Copy as path and right clicked to copy it. Went back to my streamdeck program on my screen and opened the folder button next to the App/File line. Clicked on the top header area and pasted the path into it. I hit enter and I got "you can't open this location using this program. please try a different location". What am I doing wrong?

all of their mics have some form of mount to attach to a standard 1/4" thread, which is a near universal arm mount standard
