haha tbh i've always been considering upgrading my mic. but the way i use it i think i would need a wave 3. What i do is i have my mic hooked up to a switch that goes between my main setup and my laptop so i can use the mic interchangeably between the two systems. with a dx i would need to hook the xlr to the switch to go between systems, not impossible but also probably not practical compared to using the wave 3.

but...that was before they released the standalone vst yesterday...so if i can incorporate it into obs...then maybe it would make more sense to use it with my yeti you know

Hey Guys is it possible to record gameplay using 4K X and record audio using the Wave Neo on Elgato Studio? I am trying to record my first video and no audio whatsoever.

Not at the moment, it doesn't yet support commentary tracks. You can use the older 4K Capture Utility for this, or a third party app like Meld Studio or OBS.
Alternatively you can record your audio in another app and mix it in later - though that's generally a bit more invovled of a workflow.

I have OBS. I was using it and my gameplay is choppy at 1080p 60. I also cannot hear my mic or gameplay audio. This is also after setting them both to "monitor and output".

The nice thing here is that Wave Link 3.0, because it needs no hardware, stays active and mixing nonstop even if you disconnect devices.

It's really so much more convienent for someone like me who does have multiple Wave XLRs and Wave:3s but move them between machines for testing and video stuff.

2.0 and older used Wave hardware to unlock, but also the mic was part of the driver stack. It was integrated together.

There's no official backplate yet for XL for webcams. So universal. You can raise the camera bracket high up to get the camera centered.

Wave Link 3.0 which will help SO many that aren't even in the elgato ecosystem too

Voice Focus being its own separate thing and Elgato has always been great at software (still wish Corsair would let them beat up ICUE aha)

Hey, just a little feedback about the new Window Mover plugin!
I'm really excited about this one, been waiting for something like it for a while.

Right now though, it doesn't seem to support vertical monitors. I have one, and when I use the "layout" option, it moves the windows as if the monitor was horizontal.

I guess it could be fixed with something like a toggle or a check for the monitor resolution (for example, 1920x1080 vs 1080x1920). But I'm not a dev, so I'm not sure how easy that would be to implement. Just thought I'd mention it in case it helps!

general question for all of ya, do you think it makes sense to get a dedicated gaming headset or would a general use over the ear headset (like say the sony 1000xm4) do the trick since i would have a separate mic. If you're using the XM4 for gaming, run it in wired mode so you don't have to deal with the extra latency and it should be more than fine

I do professional grade audiophile headphones for my desktop, Sony XM6s for general use (MacBook, Travel, etc), then Airpods for phone when running,walking, etc.

Yeah, headphones are fine then. I've got a pair of Rode NTH-100's I use for PC gaming thorugh my interface (with one virtual input having a difference EQ for that). I've used the XM4s too though. THough I've also got a gaming headset hooked to the consoles (Xbox be a picky beast on that front)

Comes down to preference but my PC headphones are the Beyerdynamics 1770 Pro MKII, so not something you can really wear out (or I would even think about wearing elsewhere for that matter) but that's exactly what the Airpods would be for or the XM6s.

Overall I'd just say get a good pair of headphones not headset for your PC and get something else for a daily driver when you are out and about

Yeah, the Nova Pro and Elite you buy for the feature set, not the quality. If you stream consoles and NEED wireless, the streaming output option on them from the base station is about the only wireless headset out there that you can capture the audio from. For general use I don't usually suggest them, but they do have a place. (Elite upped the number of connected consoles to 3 and does both Xbox and PS5 instead of needing a different base for the Xbox - but oof, what a price for a headset you can blow away with a Momentum 4 at half cost quality wise).

Was a game changer for me, I spent years going through the trash gaming headsets and poor quality and after going professional grade, never looked back.

The only pros/cons are you need a standalone mic, and wireless doesn't exist in the audiophile field really. I'll accept the trade off though since they last forever, way better comfort/quality/etc.

If it's been in storage a while I'd test your battery though - just make sure it's still holding a charge long enough. Some camera batteries if they're stored too long with no charge may degrade.

It should - they use pretty standard cables. Orignal prompter had a 90 degree bend too (though was USB-A to C instead of C to C)

Suppose cause VSD isn't really a "window" possibly and its contained within software like you'd be able to move the stream deck software itself due to it being a window but not that suppose. That is likely also more a windows OS thing, you'd need to basically rip out virtual stream deck to then not use stream deck software and be its very own "window" ... I think don't quote me xD

The cold shoe, I think you're thinking of. Allows you to put a 1/4"-20 threaded adapter on top of the light so you can attach something like Key Light Neo.

That'd be a question generally for #wave-audio in the community help section. It's pretty late so the voluntees familiar with Wave Cast might not be around yet, but leave a message with as much detail as you can there and if someone knows how to fix it they'll get back to you when they see it

I've had a Key Light Mini attached to my standard prompter before, which worked fairly well - that model has been discontinued though, so Neo is the next closest. Any light with a 1/4"-20 mount should fit the cold show adapter if you get one though. Just keep in mind to account for the max weight of whatever you're planning to mount the prompter on

Depends on your setup - Key Light Neo is the one I was suggesting because it's light and small enough to easily fit on prompter. Somthing like full key light would be too heavy. I'm not really familiar with the current market for third party lights at the moment though, just the Elgato ones

Kind of - there's a flex arm mount point adapter that comes with the Platform 6 - but only the new Scissor key Mk2 has a mount point on it for direct attachment so far.

Is there a way to connect my streamdeck + xlr dock, with the streamdeck to the streaming pc and xlr dock to gaming pc in a 2 pc setup

Probably not in the way you're hoping. To minimize purchases, you could probably remove the XLR dock from the SD+ and simply connect a cable from the gaming computer to that, then plug the SD+ itself into the streaming PC, so each is connected to its ow computer. Problem is that'd look quite ugly IMO and not give you the same sort of control in Wave Link that you'd normally have if they were paired together on the same PC.

What you could do instead is purchase Wave Cast and set that up on both PCs. Everything would be connected to the streaming PC, which would then stream your mic audio back to the gaming PC as needed. If the $50 price tag isn't ideal, then you could probably make do with other software like Voicemeter Banana, but I don't have any experience with that myself and can't give you tips on it.

That's for the community help channel #capture-cards . But this one is a quick answer - Elgato Studio won't recognize HD60 S because the card is too old. HD60 S needs one of the older apps - 4K Capture Utility or the even older Game Capture HD. Though it can also work with third party apps like OBS once you've got the drivers installed.

oh dang, im sorry to hear that...i'm trying to think of what subchannel here might be of help...since its obs quality you are looking for help with its hard. like the only thing i can think of is maybe capture cards but even then...i dont think it would relate to capture cards.

when you say bad quality, what do you mean exactly? like in the preview or is it bad quality when you look at the vod (assuming its a streaming thing) or recording? Like the only thing i can thnk of off the top of my head is maybe something with the bitrate? it also depends on what your settings are set up as in obs

Hi everyone!

I'm currently streaming using a 2 PCs setup with a GoXLR on the gaming PC that sends the audio to the streaming PC.

I was wondering if the upcoming Wave Link 3.0 could be useful or it would mess up my current setup. Was anyone using it already combined with a GoXLR?

Also, about the Wave Cast software: I currently have an audio cable that goes out of my GoXLR into my streaming PC. It inevitabily gets a ground loop noise (which I reduced with a de-noiser, but it also lowered the general output volume level) and it's a looooong annoying cable. Would Wave Cast solve some of my problems or having a GoXLR would complicate things?

Should I ditch the GoXLR entirely and only use Elgato's software or it could still be integrated?

Wave cast would replace the audio cable, yes.
But do you have a ground loop isolator on that line? It would reduce it almost to nothing even before the noise reduction.

Using wave link 3 along with goxlr can work fine, as long as it doesn’t get confusing. I usually caution people against stacking mixers. But if you know what you’re doing you could make it work.

Wave link will give you access to better, more modern effects.
With the tradeoff that the effects are host-based. Compared to goxlr which does them on the device in dsp

I have a Smof ground loop noise isolator between the GoXLR outline and the jack audio input on the streaming PC. It lowers the noise from a 100% to a 20% but also reduces the general output froma 100% to a 60%.

Hmm, I suspect there is a fit problem with the isolator then.
It shouldn’t lower the signal level at all. Maybe one of the hot connectors is bridging the ground or something.
Does it still pass stereo, or do you get just mono audio out of it?

Yeah stacking mixer could go very wrong if you don't have the whole routing map clear in your head. One wrong move and you'll have to hit at least 10 differents routes to troubleshoot it.

"Host-based" in my case would be the streaming PC, am I right?

Wave link 3.0 will be unlocked so it could be running on as many computers as you want. No limits.
Host-based means the effects processing is done by the computer, so the operative difference you might notice is that you can’t monitor effects on your own mic in real-time, because it’s happening after the CPU buffer.
The latency is small, as little as about 25ms, which isn’t enough to bother you when listening to anything other than your own voice. But since your voice is also resonating in your skull when you speak, any latency at all is enough to make it sound weird to you.

So this I make sure to mention to people coming from goxlr, since that is dsp and can monitor its effects live on your own mic.
(Which it would still be able to do, if you’re feeding goxlr into wave link) but wave link effects on your mic are heard by the audience, but not you.

I have a computer with two monitors, and of course I've connected the capture card with HDMI to one of them. When I turn on the PS5, the monitor stops being used as a PC monitor and becomes the console screen. Is there any way I can get it to display in the application and not in full screen, so I can use my computer?
