You're saying if I want to hear my mic I have to plug a wire into my mic. That doesn't make sense is my point. I have a headset with a wire coming out of it. Nothing is being plugged into my mic. I can split the signal into headphone and mic, but I only have one cord out. Of course I have to plug the mic into the computer but nothing gets plugged into my mic

Not quite. I’m saying if you want to hear your own voice in real time —monitoring your own mic— that feature needs to be built into the mic device.
Using a headset mic means that feature needs to be part of your headset.
Elgato wave audio devices have this as a feature, while connecting to the on-board headphone port.
Most other usb mic devices also have this, besides really simple cheap ones.
And some headset mics include this feature as well.
But the point is, it needs to be built into your mic device.
So if you get a stream deck plus to use wave link, it will not be able to monitor your own voice back to you without latency, because that is a feature of the mic device, not a feature of the wave link software.

Hey y'all quick question...haven't seen it as I've search in case someone else went through what I'm dealing with but is there a way to "lock" the volume for a particular output and keep it locked at the volume %? I've switched windows of games after lowering the audio and the moment I change windows or even use my stream deck+ to switch something, the audio changes back to 100% so my voice is sometimes deafened by loud game audio

Not sure if it's my stream deck or wave link but I'd really like to figure it out so my edits aren't washed haha

I believe that resetting to 100% is actually a bug in 2.0.6. I'd check with #official-tech-support about it to be sure and see if they have any solutiosn. You could try 2.0.4 instead, which is still available through the release notes pages for it.

Wired ones thorugh the MixAmp Tr Pro are fairly easy to setup via the stream port with an aux cable and ground loop isolator into a Line In on your capture card or PC sound card. The wireless ones not so much - especially the newer ones since the Gen 5 is USB only. A50 X at least lets you get the game audio going to it over HDMI, but won't be able to capture voice chat since it goes over USB (in order to provide mic).

If it's just the one PC in your setup, not a dual one, then display capture is the way to go. Capture card doesn't offer performance benefits because it still uses the CPU and GPU for video encoding. In a dual PC setup a capture card helps because you can use the CPU and GPU of the capture PC instead of the gaming PC, but on single PC, no performance benefit, it just gives you a HDMI IN

It's a fairly common error. It's still useful if you have a camera with HDMI out or a console to capture. You can also still use it with a single PC setup, it's just not as useful there

So right now I have the A50s and I got isolator chat links, right now I’m picking up all chats except my own. For some reason the mic isn’t working.

And it seems like the mic doesn’t work once I plug in the chat link into the controller

I’ve been stressing over trying to make everything work for a while now.

Chat Link doesn't pick up the mic from the headset on the PC side. It's a passive cable, so without power it can't amp the mic for splitting or to get it up to line level voltage from mic level voltage to mix into the main feed. Basically, it only splits the audio coming out from the console, not the headset - since the console doesn't play back your own mic, that's not part of the feed.
Typically you'll add a dedicated streaming mic to the PC to mix your own voice back in.

If you check the cable you'll see only the end going into the console/controller has the 4th metal contact for the mic feed, the other ends is standard stereo TRS, no mic contact.

I’m on Xbox, I do have a dedicated mic plugged in the laptop. My mic picks up in the recording software. I was mainly meaning my mic doesn’t pick up in gamechat/party chat.

Then the audio going to the console should be entirely controlled by your A50, regardless of the Chat Link. You may want to go through Logitech support if the mic isn't working for the console even though things are connected via USB. I'm guessing you have an older A50 that still has the analog audio jacks that youv'e connected Chat Link to? That shouldn't affect the mic as far as I'm aware.

Yeah I got this like 5 years ago, I use analog audio on the software. I just don’t know why when I unplug the chat link from the controller the mic works. It’s so frustrating

That might be something you can adjust in the Ghub or Astro commander apps if you hook it up to the PC - maybe it assumes you've plugged in a full headset because it sees a TRRS plug instead of TRS and mutes the main mic. If that's happeninig you can also stick a TRRS to TRS adapter on Chat Link to make it detect as headphones/speakers instead - or replace Chat Link with a TRS aux and additonal ground loop isolator. But this needs to move to one of the community support channels instead of general.

Sounds like something I'd check for a warranty claim with #official-tech-support about, since the cable is integrated to the camera on that model. For getting the old part out, power off the PC entirely see if you can grab it with some needlenose pliers or forceps. If you have some really fine tip pliers put them inside the connector and open them up to grip the connector from the inside.

If you're very very careful I've seen folks use hot glue and a toothpick too (or similar). Glue the toothpick to the connector. I don't usually suggest starting with this one as it can be a problem if you spill too much glue

*I am using a laptop: Intel Core i7 NVIDIA GeForce RTX.

*I am using Elgato HD (their first iteration? It is external and is running 3.5 software)

*I am trying to stream my retro consoles like NES, SNES, Sega Ect. There are no controller ports to plug cables into like the ps4/5 controller would have for example.

*I have everything set up in my OBS and it’s working fine EXCEPT, theres a minuscule delay in the stream audio (that viewers see) that I can’t seem to fix with the sync offset (milliseconds) on any source.

*I also have a desync in the audio that I hear separately from the viewers audio in my stream (I’m not listening to the stream audio but my own so I don’t hear myself twice). The audio I’m listening to is 1 full second delayed. I can’t seem to pinpoint and change that audio to sync up either.

**Advanced Audio Properties: (what I have everything set to)
Desktop Audio———> -67ms (seems to have changed nothing, but is the threshold. If it were -68 there’d be no audio)——-> Monitor Off

Elgato Capture Device———> -900ms (seems to have changed nothing when tweaking it) ———-> Monitor Only (Mute Output)

Headset Microphone 🎤 ———-> 0ms ———-> Monitor Off

Headset Hyper X Cloud Revolver S 🎧 ———-> -900ms (seems to have changed nothing when tweaking it) ——> Monitor Off

So that’s what I am working with and have gotten as far as to set it all up. Stream looks and works great, albeit that dang audio desync. Can someone please help or maybe audio call me on discord and walk me through while I broadcast a test stream? Any help is MUCH appreciated as I’ve spent 2 lonnnnnng full days trying to figure this out.

I am now officially of the opinion that OBS can't filter out music from Twitch VODs while using Wavelink to route sources. I was talking to a friend who uses GoXLR to route his audio in the same manner as wavelink and we went through his set up and it's exactly the same as mine. I've tried everything I honestly don't know anymore

To pull that off you have to route the music directly to the OBS mixer, don't pass it thorugh Wave Link. Wave Link would combine everything into the Stream Mix which OBS can't break apart again to route specific things to the VOD channel.

Cam Link Pro is the Elgato way of doing that - single PCIe card with 4 HDMI inputs. It's been discontinued, but there's still a few in stock.
Beyond that if you don't want multiple capture cards you'd need something like a video mixer or video production console.

Yeah. I've been wanting a way to have a rod go across the desk between two of those long multi mount arms, so we can hang lights and cameras there. I think that would be nice, instead of an arm sticking in over the desk from one side, just the rod from one side to the other, secured by a multi mount rod on each side.

So my PC is pretty loud, and I have been getting complaints that the mic that I have (Blue Snowball) is picking up the sound. My mic is right next to my PC. Does Elgato have a mic that doesn't pickup background noise?

All mics will pick up background noise to some extent or another. Elgato does have Wave Link that comes with their USB mics and interfances that has Voice Focus mode though (AI noise cancellation) as well as the abililty to load in filters to apply in software

There are other ways to reduce pickup too - positioning for one, if you can move it away from the computer and keep noise sources behind it as much as possible so they're out of the pickup pattern. "Acoustic treatment' for another - basically covering flat surfaces in the room with somethign soft like foam, especially those behind you, to prevent audio reflecting off them and back into your mic.

Dynamic mics like Wave DX also have a slightly less sensitive capsule so they won't pick up quite as much sound (a trade off with that being you get quieter a lot quicker as you mvoe around from the mic though)

You would need a way to exit from the loop, which requires conditional branching. To get that kind of functionality you would need to build a script (say, in Python) and run that from the multi-action. The script would require a halting condition, such as when it runs out of files to process.

I've been trying to connect my ipad to my obs or 4k capture utility for elgato on my computer and my audio is consistently choppy no matter what I do. Did you update the Stream Deck app? Current version is 7.0.2. 7.0.1 had updates to handle the OBS 32 upgrade chanages, so if you're still on 7.0 or eariler the plugin won't work if you updated to OBS 32

Is the new mic arm also a replacement for the LP mic arm?

Yes and no, while it can do a low profile configuration, the upper arm can only move up and down. So it's pretty static in upper arm position.

On the LP mic arm, the upper arm can move up and down but also has the added benefit of being able to swivel left and right as needed providing much more flexibility in mic positioning.

So while it CAN be used in a low profile position, it's not exactly a replacement for the LP mic arm.

The new mic arm is definitely really cool tho, being able to switch from boom arm to lp is really nice but ya, depending on how your setup is and how much space you have to play with will determine which arm works best for you, especially if you are planning to use it in a low profile form

I suggested, if wave cast was going to be free with some product it should be a capture card, since that's what you're using when wave cast becomes useful. Not a wave mic.

Analog cables can do this, too! as long as you have ground loop isolators the hum will be minimal. and you have no control.

Anyway, you don't have to buy wave cast. but for those who want an easier way with more control.... maybe they will find that to be valuable for them and there it is for those who want it.

When used with a capture card (which is pretty much what's going to happen) you have an audio path via the HDMI also, so wave cast adds a second audio path for those who wanted to separate music, or anything like that

But there are many capture cards. Segmented products up the stack depends on the features you need, the cost varies quite a lot.

it's most of the time mixing the mic and the output channel together so you have to disable the mic.
and it requires like 4 or 5 restarts of the software to get any audio over to the other pc at all.
also capture all audio does half of the time do nothing and you can only get the audio of one specific application over...

VBAN Talkie and VBAN Receptor is what you wanna look into. basically the same idea but a free tool from the voicemeter guys

there are many methods for this, what all do you have, most of the time it comes down to cables...

3 PC's can be activated with 1 license though, so keep that in mind with Wave Cast, and if you ever need to deactivate Elgato Support can help with that.

Only 2 can use it at a time though

it's not an open beta, it's sold as a "finished product" for 50 bucks which is very expensive for a software that can send one output and receive one input via Network.
It then just being buggy AF does not help.

I am not a payed product tester, so I am not gonna waste any time in trouble shooting it. wondering where that mentality comes from, that after buying expensive stuff you are supposed to help the persons selling it to make it actually work^^

not in beta anymore, it's as of launch now being sold this week. as for buggy, reach out to #official-tech-support as they can probably help you with your issues when you were using it in beta, vs official product launch. have a good day.

I was not using it at all before, i got an everyone ping today here on the server about their new released wave cast software and thought i could maybe get rid of my beacn studio device for the 2pc setup with it.
so I did spent 50bucks, expecting to get for the elgato "premium fee" a solid working software.

now i am waiting for a refund
