Back when I used to moderate for a former friend, she had a very bad habit of dissociating in the middle of stream and going on complete autopilot. As a countermeasure against this, she set up a chat command for mods only that would play the CSGO "throwing flashbang" line and turn on a super bright strobe light pointed directly at her face for a second or two.

Despite this being exceedingly effective at breaking her out of her dissociation, she ended up removing the light altogether. I wonder why

It used the effects applied directly to the mic channel in Wave Link, it doesn't show up on its own

MicrophoneFX has never had an input channel since it's always just been the mic feed with effects, there's no separate input.
It just takes your mic, applies the effects, and sends it to the MicrophoneFX virtual device so you can add it to other apps - basically it's like stream mix if you only used the mic input. Route to MicrophoneFX only applies to the SFX channel and just mixes SFX in there too.

But the option you're looking for is in the pulldown on SFX

i swore wavelink once had a "microphoneFX" channel. that was the channel you added the equalizer and the compressors, voice changers and was able to use that output to streams or discord.. but hey i can be wrong. ill figure it out

That's just done on the standard mic channel. It outputs the same effects to Monitor Mix, Stream Mix and the MicrophoneFX virtual device. If you've got more questions on it, best to take it to #wave-audio

I play 50/50 on xbox series x and PC I have a ryzen 7 7700, RX 7900 XTX with a MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi. I want to capture, cut and maybe even stream with the card Im not 100% sure about the streaming part. Any Ideas what would be best for my use ?

Avoid the PCIe based one - your motherboard doesn't have enough free PCIe lanes in the second PCIe slot for it.
4K X or HD60 X would likely be your best bets, depending on what resolution you actually want to capture.

Only thing I dont like about the 4K X is that if I want to capture footage from my xbox I have to let the PC run too. Is the 4k 60s+ and option or does it have too many downsides ? You would have had to do that with 4K Pro or the older 4K60 Pro Mk2 as well (have the PC on).
4K60 S+ was discontinued 3 years ago. You likely won't be able to find it outside used. It doesn't support things like high refresh rate, and has higher video latency (so you would want a monitor hooked in the passthrough HDMI Out on it, not to try to play on the capture preview)

No, you ned a PCIe 2.0 x4 slot or higher for that card. Your board doesn't have enough lanes free in either remaining slot (and the card itself is PCIe 2.0 so you can't get around the bandwidth requirement by using PCIe 4.0 or anything). When I looked the board up earlier you've got one slot for your GPU, then 2 other slots the support x2 and x1 only.

Neo is a great bargain, still 1080p and 60fps. Facecam MK.2 is also 1080p 60fps but has HDR etc.

and lastly is Facecam Pro which is 4K 60fps

Also keep in mind to have sufficient lighting for best quality of your camera 🙂

There's also a lot of LUT's on the Marketplace for Camera Hub which can totally change the colorprofile of your Elgato camera and improve it in tons of ways

Just to update on this if anyone was curious, yes it's possible. I just used the VLC remote plugin, and setup my VLC to automatically play the playlist while shuffling on loop, so I just have to press one button and it opens the playlist. Pretty cool

Possibly - but if you're looking at other brands of gear you might get more impartial results form a general streaming discord instead of Elgato's.
Do you already have an interface setup for your XLR mic? The available gain on that may come into play with some mics (eg Wave DX usually stars off needing around 45 dB, while something like a MV7X would start off around 55 - I think SM57 is about the same).

I highly doubt the next gen consoles are gonna do 8k resolutions in most games, there’s barely any TVs or other displays at good prices for it. 4k is basically the most you’d want in terms of visuals

It looks mostly fine on YouTube's higher bitrate as long as you're not trying to do exteremly high motion like FPS I find. But for Twitch and other services running on the Amazon system for the backend, yeah. There's a reason people even started playing with 936p to try to optimize that limited bandwidth afterall

I know that the site shows which cards are compatible with Elgato studio. If your card is on there, then you should be able to change those settings.

Studio is not compatible with HD60 S, only with the newer cards.

That's a question for #capture-cards - but you should just have to turn it ot Analog audio mode in the app you're using (unlike newer cards this doesn't save on the card with HD60 S so you have to set it up in whatever app you're trying to use)

That's the usual hiccup with HD60 S - in Game Capture HD or 4K Capture Utility it's fairly straightforward. For something like OBS go to the properties for the video capture source and go to the Configure Video option in the upper right to load up the driver to set the option.

This chart shows Capture and passthrough for 1440p at 120Hz.
On the supported resolutions page for the 4K S, it shows Capture for 1440p at 144Hz.
I assume it's 120 as that's the passthrough max Hz at 1440p.
