As for the video "crashing" - Is it crashing or Freezing? Could be a few things..
Could be a lack of power, due to overwhelming the USB bus.. Are you using a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on the PC .. I'd ask in #capture-cards for that one, as someone might have experieced the same issue before..

So I currently play on ps5 and use the capture card to stream to obs - twitch. But the sound from gameplay wasn’t pulling through, I use a wireless headset. I amended settings to get chat only to the headset but now I can’t hear gameplay but the stream can .. how do I get gameplay sound and chat to my head phones but also to the obs? My headset is connected by Bluetooth to the ps5

hi guys, not sure if this is the place to ask but - i'm using an HD60X with a Chat Link cable, and I can only get game audio (HDMI) or mic audio (analog), never both at the same time. is there a way to get them both at the same time, or do I need an external mic?

That'd be a question for the #capture-cards community help section.
But no, the card is designed for HDMI or Analog audio not both at the same time. But generally you use Analog with a Chat Link cable so you get the audio from the console and mic on the same analog feed which woudl be the equivalent fix to get both audio feeds.

If so double check your console hasn't been set manually to use HDMI audio. Keep in mind too this only works with 3.5mm connection headsets, not USB or wireless

I think Meld has a lot of potential and could already be better than OBS for some streamers. Its focus on ease of use definitely is one of those things that OBS would be wise to focus on themselves

I recently got a Roku TV, and while I got it to stream my game systems that I have hooked into it, I have a question.

Is it possible to stream my TV, whether it be Roku, Regular TV, or another app, through the Elgato card to my friends on discord? We have movie nights, and I am always looking for new ways to stream movies.

Does your tv provider have a website where you can watch your tv shows on the pc? If so you could just screen capture that in discord calls without having to use a capture card.

In theory I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't be able to plug your Roku into the capture card and then the card to your pc. Maybe i might be wrong but you can always try see if it works. You might have to use software like obs and make a new source to capture the screen in order to share it with your friends on discord (you would select usb device as the camera source)

I've had some black screens when trying to screen share netflix or disney in discord. you might have to turn off hardware acceleration for that and it should work (it might also help with viewing websites to screenshare).

if you are having trouble getting your OBS to read your elgato card you might want to check out #capture-cards for better visibility as someone there might have a better idea of what is going on and how to fix it

Chances are the signal you're getting is HDCP encrypted, which capture cards can't decrypt on their own. Any HDCP feeds will show up as a black screen with no audio. Same things will happen when attempting to stream stuff like Netflix via Discord when using certain web browsers, since that's copy protected in part by using HDCP.

I know historically there used to be devices that could strip HDCP from a signal, but I have no idea if these still exist or where to get them if they do.

Yes, I'd follow Ochatach's advice - if the file opens in VLC Player it's likely salvageable, you can try using VLC to remux/re-export it to get it back, otherwise it's likely a lost cause.

VLC pretty much ignores bad encoding both at the start and end of files, and can even play damaged RAR files, it's amazing ❤️

Yup, and likewise audacity is often the last stop for corrupted audio files, where if you know what you’re looking for (or with a little trial and error) you can tell it exactly what to try to read about the raw audio data and recover it.
Happened a few times for me.

ya with YCH art I find its usually around the main holidays and its designed in a way so that it can be produced with a quick turn over but also at a lower rate. Some I see are really good on vgen. That said, the art work that I generally want to get done are complete custom concepts

Because Lightning -> I use 2 key lights and a screen bar on the second monitor and yes if I use the lights in high brightness. Then the effect is less but that is not a solution to the problem. Since I also like to play quite cozy with less lighting (only my BenQ Screenbar).

Depends - what actually has different versions with your Wave audio setup? Most of the audio devices should be getting the same firmware version - though if this is on multiple systems make sure your Wave Link installs are up to date as firmware gets bundled with the app, it's not a live download.

It's a PCIe 2.0 device. x4 is a PCIe lane count, not a speed designation (as the speed is actually based on lane count multiplied by the base speed of the PCIe revision)
So you need a PCIe slot of at least PCIe 2.0 with 4 lanes available. PCIe 2.0 x4.
The card cannot run above PCIe 2.0 so trying to work out the speed instead of the lane count to try and convert to a higher revision isn't worth it, as the slot will always have to step down to PCIe 2.0, so will always need 4 lanes.

No worries. Used to be the available lanes and slot sizes almost always lined up so that's a common issue. But most boards now have slots that are larger than the actual lanes available in them to accomidate things like GPUs that can run at higher or lower counts, but will always have the higher sized connector.

So you can have an x16 slot that's only wired for x4 lanes, for example. It's really kind of a mess imo

also for the boom arm depends on your desk and all I guess? if you'd rather have it behind your monitors and pull it down towards you , I'd take the high rise (and you don't even have to use the 'extension' to make it much higher if it's already high enough)

It's a lot more fiddly than 2D printing, with so many things that can go wrong, but once you get things working reliably it's so fun to be able to create stuff

Fortunately as the monitor tech and connectivity like HDMI 2.1 catch up, fewer monitors are using it to achieve high res, high refresh - the ones that are usually drive even higher setups.
Good news is if you're doing Dual PC setups you can use a cloned setup to work around the DSC output. Consoles are capped to 4K120 at current gen and with HDMI 2.1 it's getting less common for a display to need DSC to hit that.

Keep in mind outside a handful of weird models (looking at Alienware) DSC only ever enables on combinations of refresh and resolution that the monitor needs to use DSC to hit

Yeah, 500Hz would be a extremely high refresh rate that would need it. You can't drive that with a console though so if you're using a PC you'll want the cloned setup as a work around (set the monitor and capture card to different ports ont he GPU, leave the output on the cpature card empty, clone/duplicate the screen to the capture card's virtual display in Windows). Cloning does disable HDR, so if you need that extend the display instead and use something like OBS setup for HDR to software clone it instead.

If there's tearing on a cloned setup there's usually some sort of settings mismatch - eg using a refresh rate that doesnt' divide wholely into the captured one. Eg, common one is 144Hz display and 60 Hz capture - works out to 2.4 refreshes of the screen per card refresh, so every third frame on the card you're getting cut off partway through a frame refresh, and getting part of the next frame which creates the tear effect. There's other causes too though that's the most common

500Hz might be hard to find a compatible match though - does it offer 480? That'd divide cleanly to 60

#

(someitmes GPU drivers can cause the tearing too if they're not matching it perfectly - that usually gets resolved with updates or rollbacks as the major companies are good with updates for issues like that)

If you're already setup for a cloned setup might be worth checking if setting to 480 instead helps.

Not offhand, my setup is only up to 120Hz, and I'm configured for passthrough instead of clone right now since I usually have the consoles hooked up.
I'd suggest studio driver instead of game ready though

#

Has a better focus on stability, while game ready goes for day one performance focus on new games.
