This seems like a capture card issue - it should go in the Commuinty Tech Help channel for #capture-cards
If the card is working as expected with the capture and not the HDMI passthrough though, try using 4K Capture Utility to change the input EDID to "Display" in the settings under device. Also double check the resolution the PS5 is outputting to make sure it's correctly matching a resolution your monitor is capable of, and not getting mixed up with the card in place.

Hello, new 4K X owner here. I am noticing really bad color banding when using the 4KX with my PS5. I've read online there is some beta firmware that may fix this. Can anyone send me this firmware to try, or is there any other solution that may help this issue?

This depends on the cause of the banding. It's a question to ask over in #capture-cards community help channel though.
Most commonly it's a result of downscaling HDR to SDR for capture, or using the MJPEG compression mode.

a little late for yesterday's #question-of-the-day but stream decks. I have an XL and a Stream Deck+ and being able to control basically anything I'm working on is so convienent. I use the Deck+ as basically a volume controller to help me satisfy my ADD attention span by controlling the volume of everything I have open without having to switch to each program. Also the dials come in so handy for little adjustments when I'm editing photos and videos.

Have yall ever had other software on your pc mess with your audio on your capture card

I just found out that something is causing my card and capture utility to wig out and it's apparently on my desktop cause it works fine on my Mac book

That's a question for #capture-cards in the communith help section. It'd help if you describe the flickering too - eg is it flicking to black, is it stuttering, etc. If it's only happening in certain games I'd suggest starting with turning off VRR or 120 Hz mode to see if either of those are causing it.

hi guys, pls i need some help with my faceCam Pro, when i try to install the pc softwar it gives me an error saying, 'Elgato Hub setup ended prematurelly'. Ive tried installing different versions of it but still, the only cersion that installed was 1.2 but with that it does not even recognize my device

1.2 wouldn't, as it is notably older than Facecam Pro.
This is generally a question for #camera-prompter community help channel - but if you can't get the app to install, you might want to contact #official-tech-support instead. They'd be able to take a closer look to see why the app is failing to install.
Note that Camera Hub is technically optional - Facecam Pro can work out of the box with other apps, you just lose access to some features like the effects (you can substitute Nvidia Broadcast for some of those features), and some of the tuning controls. Not ideal so we do want to get the app sorted out, but you can still try it with other apps in the meantime.

That said, cold reboot the computer (full shutdown give it a few moments and restart) before you try to install any newer version of the app again. Sometimes windows installer has some hiccups that can be cleared with a full (not fast) reboot.

Got back to streaming so used my laptop as a streaming device and my main PC for my gameplay. The HyperX Quadcast 2I got was plugged in and the quality is very radio like compared to plugging in my main PC where it is very clear and studio like.

Hey, can someone help me? I bought a Logitech PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be compatible with the Wavelink software. Is there any way to make it work? The PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED is a 7.1 surround headset, and when I route the game sound from my games through the Wavelink game sound channel, I don't hear the game sounds properly.

Don't hear them properly, or don't hear them at all? There's an ongoing bug where the game channel doesn't work on some systems right now - if you're on Wave Link 1.11 you can try the beta 2.0 from https://www.elgato.com/s/beta which shouldn't have this issue.

I can hear the sound, but it's very poor. I already did a reinstallation recently, but it didn't help. I'm using a Shure SM7B, which goes into a Scarlett Solo Gen 1 and then into the Wave Link software. Previously, I had a DT 990 Pro headset, but it broke, so I bought this new setup.

Poor how? Also try to make sure your games are still in Stereo. Wave Link is a stereo app and will not agree with a lot of spatial audio formats (exceptig those virtual oens that are already Stereo by the time we hit Wave Link).

are you streaming using a capture card with something like OBS where you're using OBS to see the game, direct from the PS5, or something else? worth clarifying first, lol

if it's the first scenario, in OBS go to the Audio Mixer dock (should be on the bottom in the default layout), hit the gear icon, find the capture card audio source, and change the "Audio Monitoring" box from "Monitor Off" to "Monitor and Output." You should hear it after that.

If it's something different, you might need to go to a different tech support channel.

Hello, I just got my elgato hd60x and I’m trying to stream off my ps5 to my pc and when I try to change my hdmi output to my ps5 the screen goes black and the signal on the 4k capture utility goes out then it comes back in but my monitor goes back to my desktop, I have HDCP off and all of my settings in the screen and video section are off. Could anybody help me is it my monitor because I have a scepter monitor but I’m getting a different one soon just not sure what to get?

Hey guys, so I’m trying to decide on which mic arm I wanna get is the $80 difference on the pro worth is or should I just go with the regular low profile elgato arm

The big difference is not having to adjust the bolts to move the mic with the Pro, if you don't loosen the bolts on the regular arms to move your mics position they will eventually wear out and sag. I was really lucky to win my Mic Arm Pro but I had researched a lot about the regular arms beforehand and I can confidently say that the Pro model is incredible if you can splurge the extra cash for it

If you don't adjust your mics position basically at all then the cheaper regular ones work just as well, I just have a habit of moving my mic out of the way when I'm not using it so it makes sense for me

I submitted an official feature request but just want to see if other people find this interesting. I was thinking something like this:

I think this should just be a native StreamDeck Action like a multi action. It would effectively be the same as a multi action switch except when you key down the button switch state 1 executes and then on release switch state 2 executes. I would imagine that is super doable.

My example use case is show and obs source on key down and hide that obs source on key up.

Oh, that's a Stream Deck addons for truck sim, isn't it? Couldn't speak much on that, but for specific plugins we usually suggest reaching out to the author if there's technical issues.

The Game Channel issue with Wave Link has been an ongoing issue that affects a small number of users though - in 1.9 they added some additional routing to allow use of things like Windows Low Latency audio enchancements which apparently didn't work correctly for some folks, even though it worked for most of us. That routing is no longer present in 2.0, so you should be fine once you upgrade (the beta's been out with the fix for a few months, but not everyone seemed to be finding it).

With any luck your audio issues will get resolved with that today at least.

Check your Stream Labs audio settings, under the advanced section in the audio menu to see what your monitoring device is set to. *Changing the monitoring device usually requries a restart of the app before it'll take effect

Have you rebooted since? And reassigned the monitoring output? there's a note in some of the update's release notes when an update will require reassigning things in apps like OBS because it recreated the virtual devices.

Yeah, that usually indicates that either the monitoring device in the settings needs to be corrected (since it was working before), or that it's not actually set for audio monitoring (check in the advanced audio settings on the Edit menu or gear icon on the audio mixer and check that the audio soruce is set to Monitor On or Monitor and Output - monitor is audio monitoring, the audio you here, output is what goes to stream or recordings)

That guide works, but this assumes I’m only streaming. A list of the individual mic channels I run:
-Stream
-Vod
-Game Chat
-Comms Chat
This allows me to situationally funnel things like channel alerts, soundboards, music, videos, etc. to where I think it will be the funniest to have them.

For example I might be playing a game terribly and want to have a discord call-in so my mom can yell at the people in the game to stop mercing me, because this is immensely funny to me and always gets a huge audience reaction.

What, you're using both cards? Or you've just tried it with both and get the same issue with either? Are you doing anything in particular like gaming when it blacks out? That usually indicates something like a unsupported resolution, or if it's momentary the device changing the output resolution, changing the colour (eg enabling HDR), or running at a VRR range outside spec.

The resolution is normal, and there is no problem linking Xbox and PS5, except for the iPad Pro. But I have no problem connecting my iPad with other brands of collection cards

Advice: Plugging into the mic will provide the lowest latency and it’s a quality headphone port; better than most motherboards built-in.
The only reason to select a different output for wave link monitor mix would be if you want to use a wireless headset.

def a good mic is top priority. You want that audio that is clear and understandable and if possible something that will filter out background noise. Are you wanting to have your face shown in the videos or just voice? cause if so I would say priority would be a good mic first and then webcam/DSLR if you have one.

yeah, good audio is a bit more important than a good webcam (at least initially)

and even bad webcams can punch well above their weight with sufficient lighting

personally I would think that using separate computers is ideal because that way depending on what game you are playing (like among us for example) you dont have to worry about the other person seeing what your role is. And with things like OBS and streamlabs OBS you can do something called collab cam and have both of your cameras shown on the same stream.

Awesome! If you're new to streaming, then I suggest not worrying about having the "BEST" setup at first. Especially since you may end up not liking streaming! I definitely suggest small/most important upgrades and then further upgrading over time unless you don't have to worry about a budget!

I recommend always having good audio when streaming, so that should always be your #1 priority imo.

As DreTheMoose recommended, I'd also suggest using separate computers!

no, I had to readjust due to reinstalling windows, and set my speakers, and headset to 60%, and them adjusted in Wave Link to whatever to hear so I don't blast my ears.

They're open back and I used to keep them on my desk and maybe 60 volume was enough to hear them pretty well without wearing them

Try playing around with the plug in the socket. My headphones require a 1/4* to 3.5mm adapter to connect to my DAC, and sometimes I find that the connection just gets bad for no reason in particular

By playing a bit with the plug, I can usually get it sounding correct after a few small rotations

I'm assuming you mean 1/4" to 3.5mm? 1/8" is 3.5mm. 1/4" would make sense for a lot of DACs
That said if you're ocassionally having to rotate it, are the metals the same? Sometimes if you're using plugs with different metals that react you can get a slight film of corrosion over time, that moving the plug about would scrape off. Not a common issue these days but I've seen it some of the sites I used to work at. Nothing like driving 4 hours for a slightly corrorded plug 😐

realistically any webcam from elgato would be good, depending on your budget you could start off with the facecam neo and keylight neo for for webcam and lighting purposes. if you plan on using your phone to start then you'd want a good ringlight so you can mount your phone in the middle and get proper light saturation.

The Neo facecam is outstanding value. I have one that I use at my studio remote consulting with clients, recording the one of my podcasts that uses video…
You still need good lighting to look good, as with any camera… but I think for the money Neo facecam can’t be beat.
And it’s not like it’s the only camera that looks decent at that price range, but Elgato gear all can save settings to the hardware, so it always looks just as I configured it, tuned to my lights… that’s a must-have feature if you ask me.

And I think Elgato has zero competition in web cams until any of the other manufacturers figure that out and start doing it.

I have even restore my pc before the installation... with no joy... so now Im pretty tired of "beta" software and I will uninstall all elgato alt my elgato hardware for good... 3-4 times.. sadly this took like 3h of work.. back now after 3 reinstalls on wavelink and 2 times restore of win11 restore potints... this should not happend.. but this its like my 5 time this happend of a wavelinke update... its works rally good in beta builds but sometimes its really f* big times.. my sunday was not to reinstall etc, just play game (msfs24) but next time I will NOT keep any elgato software in my pc just to clear. I have a lot of elgato hardwares from the years, but sometime it has to stop of this things.. Im sad bacause I love elgato and both hw and sw... but if it take a lot time that i dont have its a sad end

You've had the issue with multiple releases? What did support say on it when you sent in the logs? If it's a consistent problem I'd hope it'd have a common footprint in the logs to point out an issue. My best guess to see it over multiple systems is an older version of Win 10 (no longer supported), or 3rd party audio apps that conflict with it.

Hello all...I currently use a beacn mix create with my dual PC setup and am thinking about switching to the stream deck plus as I'd love to get VST support.

Has anyone else made that switch? How did it go? Did you lose any functionality? How do the virtual devices work in the elgato ecosystem?

Well, you gain the stream deck software, so controlling a lot more than just audio.
Does the Beacn software have more than 2 mix outputs? Wave link has 2 mixes and a direct out for the mic.
With just a stream deck+ (without the xlr dock or a wave mic) you don’t get voice focus. Which is the best and you should want it. So consider the xlr dock or wave mic for that.
