I feel as dumb as a person can get and I've been hands-on with computers for 37 years. I just got the Elgato Wave 3 package deal with the Pop Filter & Shock Mount. Installed Wave Link, plugged it in... Nothing in the 1st slot in the software. Clueless what I'm doing... Every video I find goes so fast through this stuff as if I'm a professional streamer... I am not. I just wanted a mic for Discord and my Logitech Webcam stuff was sucking.

Any text-based guides out there I can learn all I need to know about this thing? It picks up whispers... No idea why everyone recommended this one, I feel like it was not the right choice for me. It seems designed for quiet environments and only headphones, which I never use. 😦

Added Note: I'm referring to everyone I asked online about what mic to get... not saying this thing sucks, it's amazing in every way, except not very user-easy.

"Showing no device found there. Start with:

Just one note on the timer - Sleep timer is based on when you last hit a button - eg if you set it to 30 minutes, you'd have to go 30 minutes between button pushes while you're streaming for it to trigger, so it shouldn't go to sleep if you actually use it while streaming (and if it does a single button jab will wake it immediately).
The Wallpaper is the standby screen for when the device isn't getting a data connection (because you've closed the app)
Other than that, if you just want to manually be able to put it to sleep, the Stream Deck section of actions has a sleep button that does just that.

(note that if you have more than one deck, this puts them all to sleep)

Yes, that one is expected. If you turn off the app the data link to the PC goes down, and the device goes into Standby.

I'll check the other setup when I have a moment - I don't have custom wallpaper set on mine which might affect it

If you're just getting into it, the USB cards are the easier to setup - I'd suggest HD60 X at those requirements. Less expensive than the new 4K X, and if you need to capture voice chat you can pair it with a Chat Link. Game Capture Neo would work too if you only need 1080p, and don't need the option of using a Chat Link (or have a Line In jack on your PC)

HD60 S+ is the previous version of HD60 X. If you're buying new go with the X, but used the S+ is fine, it has more limited HDR support and is capped at 60Hz refresh rates though. S is decent, but is an older style card that uses specific driver software - I'd go with S+ or X over X if they're at all similar in price, as both are newer. HD60 X is still in active support though, the other two were discontinued, so if going new, go with X

Yes, S and S+ are both capped at 60 Hz refresh rates since they're older.

Though S+ also supports 4K at 30 Hz

That said neither S or S+ support 1440p either so if you're looking for a 2.5K monitor upgrade down the road, keep that in mind with the olders ones (this was added to HD60 X and 4K X)

You can - the issue with audio is tha the PS5 uses a "one audio stream per user" model. So if you plug in a set of headphones or a gaming headset it mutes the HDMI audio that goes to the capture card (at which point we'd use a Chat Link Pro cable to split the audio coming out of the audio jack on the controller)

This needs a Line In jack on the PC to work though. Most desktops have them, and for laptops cards like HD60 X and HD60 S/S+ have them too - but it's something that Neo doesn't have

Yeah, running it through OBS will work

There will be a very small delay though, similar to using a wireless headset - because the capture card video is 2-3 frames behind and the audio will get synced to this. It'll look spot on if you watch the game through OBS preview, but if you're using the HDMI Out jack to watch it latency free on another display you may (or may not) notice the audio being a touch behind

On something like HD60 X that's about 30ms delay, which is aboure the same as my Steelseries wireless headset adds

All good - that's what the community is for.

Basically video capture has a very small delay. If you listen to the audio through the capture card in OBS, the audio will match the video, and be a touch behind. Any by very small I mean like 2-5 frames of video - most people would have a hard time noticing it, though some games like rhythm games or competitive FPS can tell a bit more easily. (older cards may have more delay). The delay is because you've got to convert that HDMI video into somethign a computer can use, then pass it to the computer and have the computer draw it on screen.
That's why most gaming capture cards have a HDMI passthrough port - it's a HDMI Out jack that works like a splitter. So you can pass your PS5 into the card but one copy goes right back out without the delay to another screen you attach to the HDMI out, skipping all that converseion, so no delay.

For most people you can pretty much ignore that it exists

I have an hd60x and need to use it to screen grab images and video of a laptop setup for work. I am capturing an M2 MBA to an M2 MBP. usb-c to hdmi from MBA to card and then the usb cable from card to MBP. I get an error that states "invalid output resolution". I am hoping this can be fixed somehow. The MBA is not setup, I can get it to work on my old hd60s to a windows machine but that will not work for me all the time. Anything I can do?

Main benefits are the new stand, the detachable/replaceable cable, and the fact is has swappable faceplate.

Though you could still get a MK2 and run both at the same time too

Mic Arm- A normal over the top mic arm.
Mic Arm LP- A Low Profile mic arm (sits low near your desk, depending on your setup can fold under your monitor, etc..)
Mic Arm Pro- A Low Profile mic arm that uses a gas suspension system, rather than the wing-arm tightening system of the other two.

hey, i had a question are far as picking a good machine to purchasing for game capturing, can anyone recommend me a good prebuilt option or even if getting a mac studio is good as well?

Mac Studio will work - modern mac CPUs have built in video encoders for H.264 and HEVC. Not a good choice if you want AV1 though, or if you need HDR capture as they don't support HDR capture over UVC capture cards yet.

Yes, it should work way better than that. That looks like a HD60 S with a USB speed issue or buffering off in OBS - though it could also be encoder lag. The M series macs shouldn't hit that since they have built in hardware video encoding for H.264, and HEVC/H.265 (though no AV1 yet, and the mac won't support HDR on capture over the card).
Which capture card did you get? HD60 X? or 4K X?

Did you also download the Stream Deck Plugin beta from the download link? That should fix the icons issue

so i am really excited to purchase a new machine. but i want to be sure i get the best product for its purpose

Personally I'd go with a PC beacuse it'll let you record in HDR if you decide to later on (not that plany platforms other than YouTube currently support that), but I'm also just more familiar with PCs so I'm a little biased there

macs will do just fine (aside from the HDR thing and lack of AV1 encoding - which are nice to haves rather than needs) . Their hardware video encoders are pretty solid and I know a few people who picked up minis just for stream boxes on dual computer setups
