#question-of-the-day Space has always been an issue for me. I think my whole setup is a bit cramped for a 120cm desk. Got dual-monitor with 4 consoles, a desk phone and a tablet (to hook telemetry data into an app for some games), not to mention 2 stream decks to just make my life easier. Moving house shortly though, so will be able to space things out more and get a bigger desk :D

hi guys and Jasmine, How is it going? I have and issue with the audio rigth now. Ive just bougth a gaming pc. My idea is to have 1 pc for gaming and the other one a laptop, I would like to use it to make multi stream. So far so good. But, The big problem is the audio. I would like to manage the audio and I tryed watching a lot of video about banana meter (voicemeter) but the didnt work fo me. Now, Im considering an audio interface and I would like to know if el gato has someting like wich help me with 2 pc stream setup. Thanks

It depends! For giveaways on Twitch there's a command that explains the process. You can use the commands !giveaway and !terms.

• Must be following Elgato's Twitch channel

Thanks for the clarification, it's 2024 and I am very surprised that international shipping is not offered by a large business, as smaller ones are able to do this. Whenever I set the audio output device to the capture card on my gaming pc I can then hear it out my streaming pc

but then how do I listen to my games and everything on my gaming pc through my headphones but then still have the audio capturing that on my streaming pc

especially when the elgato 4 capture utility doesnt even have a audio mixer thing anymore with presets made for gaming

Not sure if there's an ideas section in here or somewhere to comment beta information etc. But for control center I'd love for it to be able to either be a pop out that can be moved anywhere on the screen. Or even for the current model where it shows up in the right corner to be able to be dragged somewhere else and then automatically minimise when another window is clicked. I have quite a large monitor on my desk and a lot of the time I have to move things out of the way or lean to the right to be able to change my lighting. Mostly a me problem as my monitor is 57" 🤣🤣

Question: does a thunderbolt dock work for plugging in the elgato items? I know a regular usb 3.0 hub doesn't work with the facecam, does a thunderbolt dock?

If its not directly connected to your computer it is not technically supported and your milage may vary.

And that is the tricky part.

A USB hub CAN in theory work - it's just not officially supported, meaning if there's an issue you'll have to remove it for troubleshooting, and if it turns out to be the issue, they won't be able to support you. That said Facecam and some of the other devices can take a heavy power load so if you HAVE to use a hub I usually suggest a powered one so your devices can get enough juice.

I've heard good reviews about the Plugable brand of hubs, but haven't used them with Elgato products. But plan to try it since my list of products is going up and the amount of ports I have is quickly going down xD

With how many products Elgato has, I'm surprised they haven't made their own USB hub for that exact reason. Since I've seen some users have several decks, foot pedal, camera, etc

They actually did make Thunderbolt hubs for a whlie - that product line moved under Corsair after the buyout though

So the most recent one with Elgato badging is a Thunderbolt 3 one.

You will occasionally see them mention ones like the Corsair USB100 (a powered USB hub) if you can't work around the requirement.

Fair enough, still would be cool if they made a Elgato hub similar to how they've done their Corsair Link hub, make it all just connect to the center hub

One of the issues with trying to connect hubs through to a central device like that winds up being bandwidth caps though. Especially with cards like 4K X and cameras like Facecam Pro which pass along 4K signals. 4K video is an absolute data hog. If you wind up needing more than one hub, or really even if you have two heavy data video devices, it usually works best to try to split the devices to different "root hubs" and USB controllers on your motherboard, as each one of those has a data cap shared between all devices on it. What mic and what boom arm? If they're Elgato products that'd be a question for #wave-audio . But typically there's a tension adjustment, or in the case of the boom arm style arm, a counterweight you can remove which will let the arm stay upright easier.

Yeah they've got their alternatives, they're just a little funky with the Wave mics, something weird about how the internal audio management chip in the Wave 3 interacts with the device enumeration in linux. Seen some hacky workarounds but it's far from ideal.

You're totally right about that, it's a risky play right now. I think with all the capital they have though a little risk could result in a huge turnout and a win in a space untouched so far. I can't remember the name of it but I think Miyamoto from Nintendo had a whole book discussing the business efficacy of tapping into fledgeling markets.

It would be a whole other story if I were asking them to try and make hardware to support this market but with how linux is they wouldn't even need to make a whole new build of the Wave Link app, even just a driver that would make it function better with Pipewire would be amazing.

Linux barely agreed to move to the pulse audio engine. There's still oddball distros not using it.
There are audio routing apps though they don't tend to be as comprehensive or easy to use as Voicemeeter last I checked. It's been a while though.
Biggest headache with Linux software support is you pretty much have to choose only one or two distros to support and go from there because of all the internal differences, since you're distributing pre-made binaries.

There were some issues with it on UAC connections, including PS5, on early firmwares. Updating that might get it playing nicer with your linux setup.

Generally DisplayPort capture cards only exist in professional spaces (and most of the ones I've seen are limited to version 1.2).
Since most people tend to capture consoles and cameras, which are HDMI devices, there's not much market for consumer grade DisplayPort capture cards. Especially when most modern DP enabled GPUs support DisplayPort++ to convert it to HDMI (Though not at the full speed of the displayport)

There's no encoder on the capture cards, unfortunately. Separate encoder hardware tends to be built into modern GPUs and even iGPUs like the Intel Xe, so it'd largely be redundant anyway.

Modern hardware encoders have less imapact on their parent GPUs anyway. Ideally you want single card setups though because then the encoder can pull straight from the framebuffer on the card instead of having to send it over the PCIe bus to another piece of hardware.

If you're doing a PC capture, you can also consider trying to clone your DP monitor to a HDMI output that goes to your capture card

Problem is I'm pretty sure that will drop the refresh rate of the DP monitor, it's 5120x1440@240hz

In theory the GPU should handle the difference in refresh rates between the two outputs - that's one of the mean reaons folks use a cloned setup. The Ultrawide might give you more headaches to get working correctly.

It was especially common before the HDMI 2.1 cards launched, as a lot of people had monitors that could do 2.1 but were limited by HDMI 2.0, so they just cloned the monitor to the cards instead of using them in passthrough to work around it

I have a Xbox series S, A MSI GFC 63 THIN 10 SC gaming laptop anda Elgato HD60S.

Prior to having the Series S i had a Xbox one and same stream pc and used that plus the HD60s to stream and worked fine.

Now however when I hook everything up (properly) to the hd60s and my series s & monitor i get audio and a black screen says no signsl.

When I plug egato usb into pc it flashes white twice then red once.

I can hear audio but no ganeplay.

I tried multiple troubke shoot options and I am beyond stumped lol anyone know how to fix this?!

This should have gone into #capture-cards in the community help section. Two white flashes is normal on bootup, the red flash usually indicates a signal issue. Since it's a HD60 S, make sure your'e not running in 120Hz mode and that VRR and HDR are off.

Streamdeck+ is how I get Wave Link, it has changed my life, and the dials are so handy, I can individually change volumes on different apps both for my headset and the stream using them. There Wave Link plugin can also be used on the regular buttons but Dials are just so much handyer

Really quick to change gamevolume out to the stream whenever something is too loud or too quiet

the Wave XLR is only for XLR mic such as Wave DX or any other XLR mic

For now I have 2 separate mics: Mic In:wave1 for streaming and my headset mic for discord chat.

works for me so far. 🤷‍♂️

I use the Wave DX for both, and have a button on my Streamdeck to toggle between Push To Talk and Voiceactivation for Discord, so I can quickly press that key to talk to Stream

Also, when you get Wave Link set up correctly, setting Discord input to MicrophoneFX will make your teammates and friends on Discord love you because you'll sound so much better :3

I suppose I've just compartmentalized one mic for discord, the other for the stream.

I'm a noob to the stream deck (haven't used the software or hardware yet) I was hoping to find out something. The elgato fallout crossover, with the custom stream deck icons, vst audio effect (pip boy voice) and fallout screensavers. My question is can those be used by any streamdeck or are they only really compatible with the fallout mk2??

There is nothing special about the fallout mk2 except the paint job.

Yes. All Stream Decks use the same software and have the same access to everything except for the plus which has dial support.

I was going to try the trial of stream deck mobile to begin with for interacting with obs for my twitch. Do I need to have some type of stream deck software on my PC to make that work? (I already have wave link installed and I'm using a Wave1)

Yes. All the stream decks including use of stream deck mobile require the stream deck software.
