I just found a work-around from using a Mixer
Confirm how you have the cable connected to everything. And do you hear the sound in your connected headset?
Hi, I've recently setup wave link 2.0 with a new mic and I'm routing discord through the voice channel as per guidance (voice channel is set as default communication device in windows).
Other people in voice chat are hearing themselves back through my discord when my mic is activated however.
I think it's also double playing discord system sounds back through my headphones.
Any way to resolve that?
Solved. Windows audio settting for discord in the mixer was set to voice chat instead of my headphone amp.

I am currently using the Wave Link Beta version and I’ve run into an issue where I cannot add my primary microphone to the mix.
im using 3.0.0 (1874) version
I have my monitor going IN the elgato and OUT to my macbook, my chat link cable is plugged into the controller, with my headset plugged into the other end of the chatlink and going into the elgato.
I do hear sound from my headset and able to talk to others, but the tiktok studio, obs, elgato studio doesnt show that its picking up any voice chat at all
Is it getting video?
What you described sounds like the capture card is set up wrong.
USB should connect to the computer
HDMI in should connect to the console
HDMI out should connect to a dedicated display (tv or monitor; not your computer’s monitor)
Did Wavelink 3.0 update itself automatically? It reset all the apps I had on my mixers
I just checked the Wavelink 3.0 plugin — Wave Control (mic/PC mix). Previously it let you mute and also showed level and volume meters, but now it no longer does (streamdeck+ dial)
yep it updated all by itself and and now my microphone is not working so I removed the channel and now I cant add my mic back there is no option to add it
it was working just fine till the update
for me the only thing wrong was the mute button in streamdeck sometime i press and show red but people can still hear me
also now audio devices plugin in devices before my mic show in standard devices now doesnt so i feel they change a lot of things
for some reason my game audio and my mic audio have fused together and any time I try talking, I have to hear me and my game
so i've been on wavelink 2 with the stream deck + and it worked fine, i've decided to try out WL3 and I can't get anything to work, I can only hear any audio if I set windows sound to be my headset - it seems fundamentally way different than WL2 - can anyone enlighten my stupid brain..

Seems the new empty channel feature in the update doesn't work at all. Clicking it opens a small blank side menu item and doesn't do anything
i've just made a few empty channels, but you can also just make a channel, go in and delete the assigned apps and then rename it
I'm aware of the previously existing way of emptying a channel. What I'm saying is that the empty channel features is not working, at least for me. Restarting the app did not help.
Hey! Does anyone know if programs persist across sessions? So like let's say I have a game mixer channel, and I add in my game as the input, for example, FiveM. Will Wave Link still have it as an input whenever I quit the program, or will I have to input it again whenever I start it?

Had the same issue that i couldnt add any input device anymore with latest version. I had fortunately the old version still as install package and for now its working again. i guess i will wait before i update again.
So... just tried Wave Link 3 for the second time, and OH MY GOD! I've been missing out. The stream deck plugin has like 10 actions compared to GoXLR's one, and you can actually group programs by channel

Like when I added music channel it would barely be audible and struggle to play and sound like muffled and static

Since today I have the same problem… I can no longer add any hardware inputs — sound cards, microphones, etc. I wanted to add a mixing console and realized that nothing can be found. There’s an endlessly long list of software, but no hardware.

Before this update, i was able to select virtual audio, and now i can't. Virtual audio is what Beta use to do a second sound system. But now, i can't select virtual audio as output to config in my OBS or even in the beta program.

Ok, usually this turns out to be you’re adding the wrong kind of audio source.
“Audio input source” is where you’ll find outputs from wave link.
Because to computers outputs are things like speakers, and inputs are things like microphones….wave link flips this around so it’s outputs appear to the system as inputs, so they can be used by apps which are receiving audio.
All this is to say, I bet you’ve added the wrong kind of audio source by accident.
Like i said. After this beta update, i can only use 2 sources of audio and both is not "Elgato Virtual Audio". Yesterday everything was fine and now this problem.
Isn’t this mix output going to OBS? You don’t need to route it to a hardware device.
Just let OBS pick up the mix output.
If your mix is created in wave link… you’re done there.

I think you’re misremembering, or really, even if you select a device I think the virtual device might still be addressable by OBS so, maybe you did that before… but you didn’t need to.
Hopefully as this beta start to round out and stop moving fast we will get better setup directions

before u can mute urself and also put Level Meter+Volume Slider, this starts happening after last update of wavelink 3.0 i use it alot so can u add again that function? Also, did you update the Wavelink 3.0 plugin? That might be why, it may have auto-updated and I didn't realize

I’m not testing the beta on windows , but typically the stream deck plugin needs to be updated for every wave link update.
So would recommend doing them together or waiting. But I haven’t looked at this specific update.

This morning, I turned my pc on, and all of my Wave channels disappeared. They still appear in Streamdeck, just not linked to anything, obviously.

just downloaded wave link 3.0, using a cheap fifine xlr (currently plugged in by usb, waiting on xlr dock) and i cant get it to pull up anywhere on wl3.
Add an input, and it should show all your connected audio devices and apps.
New input devices seems to be broken in latest beta version. If you use older version there you can add the input devices and if you update afterwards wave link they will be there. But if you delete them or install latest version directly and then trying to add. Then there is no input device available. At least for me I have this issue on 2 different set ups at home

I'm using the latest version of the wave link 3.0 beta. I'm using a Shure MV7+ via USB-C. I was getting a lot of background noise so I purchased Elgato Voice Focus and added it to my mic. I wasn't getting any reduction in background noise like keyboard/mouse clicks. I noticed there was a new version of Voice Focus available that seems like it could fix my issue. I have a "Download started" banner at the top of the application for the 1.0.0.72 version of Voice Focus but it's been stuck like that for a while. Is there something preventing this from installing? How can I check what version of voice focus I have installed?

yeah, you don't really need it there unless you wanna test ur mic since there's a build in option to record your voice when editing it

Anyone using the Wave DX? Care to shre your settings for it?
It will come down to how your voice is, how soundtreated your space is and backgroundnoise etc. But for me, I use 60% gain, VoiceFocus at 45% and the Elgato Compressor with 2dB makeup gain, rest default
Also what interface you're using and personal preference
I've got mine at ~45 dB running on Wave XLR, and basically just turned on Voice Focus in Wave Link and called it a day for the most part.
Though I do have a secondary effect chain I sometimes play with
My Voice Focus is a littler higher than yours though - about 80%. Becasue there's so much road noise and sometimes noise from upstairs neighbor
Ah, when people are awake and loud I use around 80% also
right now it's 8.10AM and noone is doing anything so it's kalm :3
I use Wave XLR I wouldn't say my room is necessarily soundtreated but I use it on the Wave Mic Arm and speak about a fist away I just never seem to be able to get results others do but I may just be judging my own voice too harshly
Also everyones voice is different, you may not get the 'podcasty' voice if you don't have enough bass in your voice etc

just voice vocus on its own with a compressor i can hear every little click on my keyboard and breath out of my nose 😒
Make sure you're not listening to the raw audio from the headphone port or something

and if you hear that much background stuff you probably have your gain too high
a way to not get nosebreathing is to have the mic offset from you, still same distance but from the side

yeah that is what cancels out pretty much everything for me that ive found works the best
but removing ALL noise will also make your mic cut in and out when you go slightly quieter than the gate
so sparing use is the best

I can't really see the dB, but I generally keep mine at the end of green, beginning of yellow for my regular speakingvoice

Uh, I've got Wave Link 2 on this rig, it convers to dB when you actually click the slider
I tend to do a lot of testrecordings when I'm setting up a mic, live is much worse since I tend to tense up hearing myself xD
I can breathe quite hard without it being picked up at all with VoiceFocus at 80%
also maybe a bug but I think the % is bugged out in WL 3
I barely breathe generally though, very small quiet breaths xD

I'm using an Elgato Wave DX, with the XLR dock through a Stream Deck +. My question is, what throughput (interface) does this require? 5Gbps? Or 10GGps? Thanks in advance!
Ooo actually I reckon I've answered it myself. It's currently plugged into a USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 (up to 5Gpbs) and works fine! So I guess thats the answer!
It should actually only need USB 2.0, 480 Mbps. But 3.1 works fine too

Facecam 4K is 5 Gbps, USB 3.0 for most formats up to 4K (4K60 uses MJPEG compression). It'll work on USB 2 at up to 1080p60 using MJPG as well.
If you want uncompressed NV12, it needs USB 3, and that only works up to 4K30 or 1440p60. The main benefit is the uncompressed veresion has slightly better video latency.

Hi everyone, what’s the situation with the new Wave Link software? Do you think it’s worth switching already? Are there still many bugs, and can the old Wave Link presets be transferred to the new version?
The old presets cannot be moved over - the app was completely rebulit from the ground up so the old setting backups are no longer compatible.
Some folks have moved over with no real issues, some others still get problems - it depends on your setup, the only real way to be sure is to test it.
new update ignores my system audio output

Meaning you set your primary monitor device at top and the ear icon on the mix you want to hear… doesn’t work?
no what I mean is, app ignores WINDOWS system audio output settings, if I disable the monitor in the app, there will be no audio at all, need to set monitor just to hear audio
i would love to move back to the stable Wavelink 2.x but it wont work without a compatible device, but it's having an aneurysm to detect my streamdeck+ so I can't use the app
I see. That’s a bit beyond what I can speak to since I haven’t done any windows testing for this beta.
I am testing a little on Mac and in that case whenever wave link is running it fully takes over the audio system. Sound not routed through it doesn’t work.
Maybe an exclusive control thing, which might be needed to achieve the latency targets. Windows audio drivers are lots of different standards mixed together so I could see why exclusive control could be important.
But anyway, sounds like it works the way it worked for me on Mac.

When I first got WaveCast it worked wonderfully for like the first 2 days. Then it just kinda stopped. I can hear all audio from both PCs but I cannot be heard in game chat. I will be happy to provide any and all information on specs, current settings and programs in use. Im just confused as to why it would work so well then just stop:
Wavecast is not reconizing my game as an open app. Could that be a reason why I can hear but they cant hear me?

First of all, it has up to 5 submixes, Wave Link 2 only had 3 (Monitor, MicrophoneFX and Stream Mix)
Up to 5 output mixes, totally configurable. Instead of the two fixed ones before and the one direct out for the mic.
And being not hardware locked.
Those are the major new features.

Yes, but not with Wave Link 2. They'll work with Windows audio at the same time, but Wave Link 2 will throw an error about dual devices.

The dials on Wave XLR and Wave:3 only change the device volume, so your input channel for the device, not any of the mixes or software channels

I've been struggling with wave link 3 the last few days. I had it working to where my friends could here my voicemod sounds and I'm not sure what I did but now it's all messed up. Could anyone help with this?
There won’t be any issues with the presets saved in VST plugins, right? For example, will the presets I saved in the Elgato EQ or other Elgato plugins disappear, or are they kept?
Plugins can store their presets in their own folders. Would be recallable between different apps just like pro tools and Logic Pro.
But that’s up to the plugin developer to make their system.
Problem with Wavelink 3.0. I transitioned from Wave 2.0 however now my microphone wont fully output the FX. When I test it after adding the FX on mic by recording in that window it works fine. However once I record on my PC by selecting chat mic (the mic is added there the effects are not applied.
I have ensured the FX icon in the channel is lit green showing enabled.
Any ideas?

Are both of your PC's meeting the requirements, and on the same network?

Using Wavelink 2.0 with Stream Deck+ and XLR dock with a XLR mic.
My Discord is routed through voice chat channel in wavelink.
If I set the discord app to route through Voice chat in windows volume mixer I get double play system sounds through discord. If I set that to my headphone amp, I get normal, but it doesn't fix the voice chat echo for others.
I am using a seperate headphone amp rather than the one on the XLR dock.

Oh that part is wrong..
Windows default input should be microphoneFX.
Output can be wave link system.
But discord is correctly routed so your windows defaults don’t matter to discord.
The communication device default should match the normal default
Defaults maybe, but if I route discord through voice chat in here instead of my headphone amp (speakers 2- Fiio Q series) then I get double discord system sounds so that's creating a feedback loop in the discord system sounds. The discord sounds are playing back through voice chat. Aren't they supposed to be in the system channel?
By discord system sounds I mean the notification sounds when you join a voice channel and so on, for clarification.
You can separate discord beeps from the voice chat, but discord doesn’t have a setting for this, so you would need to use the one-click routing in wave link to assign discord to the system channel. But then reset discords internal settings for voice chat output to the voice chat channel.
Never route anything directly to your headphones.
Click the plus at top of the system channel and click discord there.
But remember to check that discord voice is still set to voice chat internally.
You shouldn’t ever need to look at the windows mixer settings screen except to set your default output to wave link system and default mic to microphoneFX
Okay, so my windows volume mixer shouldn't be set to my headphone amp. It's strange that it does seem to make a feedback loop when set to voice chat, but I'll set it back to voice chat and add discord to system also as you suggest. Discord output is set to Voice chat in discord settings.
Yeah you’re bypassing wave link any time you route directly to your output device

Windows default matter for where sound goes by default.
So that’s why we set input to microphoneFX and output to a wave link channel.
I actually use the game channel, so I don’t have to route every game. But system is what I think most people use

Okay my discord system sounds are going to system in wave link now but wavelink system isn't showing under system sound devices in windows mixer at all and I get no sound from it through my headphones,
I can see the bar for the sound in wave link so it is going through system but the wave link system device isn't showing in the mixer under system sounds, but it is under app specific in the windows mixer

Headphones (Elgato XLR dock) shows up in the monitor mix so that would work but I can't select my headphone amp anymore. It's gone from the list

Seems like it might be fixed. No double system sounds and its coming through the right channel now. Just need to test for a bit longer to make sure it doesn't happen again but looks good for now.

in regards to the MicrophoneFX issue I've been having
With Wave Link 3.0, you have to create your own mixer (rename it if you want) and add your microphone and SFX channel to that mixer and then set that to your input device for that game. For example, I have it set for FiveM so I can play sounds through my stream deck and it routes through the microphonefx mixer into the game with my mic as well
Wave Link 2.0 was just a simple button press and a dedicated input device already on your pc if you have an elgato microphone
I turn on my PC again and the audio doesn't play. I have WaveLink set to start with Windows, but I think this causes some kind of problem. In the WaveLink 3.0 beta 1 it didn't happen before. Now I noticed that if I restart WaveLink it fixes the issue, but it's annoying to have to do that every time I boot my PC
On the main mixer you use, is the ear icon selected on that mixer?
Hi everyone, first time user here! I'm trying to install Wave Link 3 (I just got a MAONO PD400X mic), but I can't seem to install the audio drivers. As soon as I click the "Install Driver" button, I just get a super quick "Windows Installer" window that is just visible for a few frames before it disappears. After that the install drivers button is just greyed out until I restart the app. Any ideas? Thanks!

I did. I missed that 3.0 was a different beta download, so I installed 2 first before I realized. I uninstalled 2 before trying to install 3.0

Wave link can only back sound that is routed to it.
While your mixer config was imported from backup, I bet the routing of apps need to be reassigned since the install will have created new virtual devices what don’t have the same ids as before (from the system’s perspective; not the visible name you see)
Also our system default audio devices still need to be set.
The default input should mic microphoneFX and the default output should be a wave link channel. System or game are common.
Open mmsys.cpl to set these quickly.

So I set the output to System and the audio output switch works, but it doesn't actually monitor anything, I get volume but at 100%, for example, If I want to turn down the volume on my Spotify channel, nothing will change

I think you have to redo all that routing because the driver was removed and fully replaced twice, so the device id numbers aren’t the same.
Ok, I deleted all channels but it's got kinda like a cache? Its retaining what the previous channels were, any way to fully reset the software?
Can you play Spotify and then click on another channel to route it there. And then click to the music channel to route it back?
Well it seems pretty screwy and the routing tables are clearly all messed up.
I think the move here is to uninstall, then remove the wavelink folder at $user/appdata/…/elgato/
(or move it to desktop, to keep your backups and logs and stuff, if you need those)
Then restart. Then reinstall.

Just downloaded the Wave Link 3.0 beta, as it offers tremendous promise to enable me to sit Voicemeeter aside in a dual PC gaming/recording setup. Everything works great except that mic audio is garbled and scratchy when going through the HDMI audio connection with system audio from the gaming PC. Everything points to a need to adjust an input buffer setting, but I am unable to find one in the WL3 beta. Anyone have any similar experience and found workarounds?

does anyone else on windows 11 using the Wave Link 3.0 Beta 1891 having issues with what i assume is a memory leak? audiodg.exe just slowly creeping up to 11+ gigs until i reboot or somehow restart the process. the only VSTs i am using/have enabled is Reaper and Elgatos

It's all well and good to be rolling back if you're hitting issues, but don't forget to report issues on the beta megathreads so they know folks are having them and can get them fixed before it goes to general release instead of beta 🙂

No, but it's better to identify issues earlier - it's largely the point of having a beta testing phase. Also they tend to release beta test builds more quickly than final product builds, since they are in fact test builds not final products. Plus as they get further through testing more and more things get finalized - if something that's causing a bug gets too far along in development it can be more work to get it resolved.
im having the same exact problem as i bought my new dac/amp and i plugged my new headphone there instead of the wave 3 and i started to have the same exact problem everything that i routed to wave link is echoing but if i remove it from there it all fixes , also putting anything on system doesnt do anything for me how can i fix that ?

Your default output is wrong. This is bypassing wave link and going directly to your output device.
Instead choose a wave link channel as your default so all sound will go to wave link.
And if you open mmsys.cpl
Make sure the communications defaults also match your default.
You don’t want those being different and it’s confusing when that causes issues

Don you have any “listen to this device on…” set for any device in mmsys.cpl?

so im using a moondrop dawn dac/amp and i connected my 6xx headphone to it instead of the back of the elgato 3 , anything i play that is routed through the wave link is double sound ppl can hear them selves music,browser,games, all doubled sounds , before i used to have my HD599 and plugged in the back of wave 3 and all worked well as the default would be headphones wave 3 but now when i select that no sound at all but for the rest of the wave channels i can
as for listen to this device none of them is selected

In this picture, your default is still set wrong.
You should select a wave link channel, such as system or game; not an output device directly.
But that still wouldn’t cause an echo, it just might cause confusion.
But if the echo doesn’t happen when monitor mix is set to the wave 3 headphone out… then the problem is in the other device.
Your discord settings are correct and the wave link mixer looks correct.
The only difference between monitor mix going to wave 3 headphone port vs another output device…. Is that direct monitoring of the mic won’t be possible, and a little bit of additional latency.
Set like you have it, wave link can’t cause an echo

That’s probably because your monitor mix is set to follow your default.
You’ll need to set it directly.
The confusion when using a default device that bypasses wave link is just that… some of your sound can bypass wave link and it can be confusing. This is exactly why I recommend against using output devices directly with wave link
So you restarted the usb audio device and now it’s working?
not really i plugged the headphone back to the amp and it still double audio even after setting the default to system

No, you can use any audio device on your computer (with the note that direct mic monitoring is only possible whith the on-device headphone port, and that latency will be a little higher with an external device)
what this is showing us, is that there is something the other USB device is doing that is doubling the audio.
Did you say no other apps were running? If you checked the rest of my suggestions like that, then I don't see where the echo could be coming from. we have ruled out everything else. The wave link mixer is not doing it.
so all that's left is this USB device. I don't know about that device and it could be doing something to cause this somehow.
If you want more info, you could test by taking wave link out of the audio path. Close wave link completely and select this other device as your output for the computer.

Ok so, isolate the bits of the process to work out where it’s going wrong.
sound goes into wavelink when you route an app there; do you see the meter moving at the browser channel when you play a youtube video to that channel?
Do you then see sound on the master meter at the bottom of wave link?
If those are yes, then we look at the device selected as the monitor output. Is that device the one you’re currently listing to; are you headphones or speakers selected there?
Is the master fader turned down? Is the green ear on the monitor mix?
Is the volume of your device turned down?
If any of those is no,
And/or you haven’t figured out the issue from this prompting, then let’s see a screen shot of your wave link window.
In this moment it works, the program and all works. But when it does not work, I cannot even play any videos. It is just buffering and if I remove the browser from "browser" it will start play right away. There is nothing moving in the program as the program is frozen or not working at that moment.

Ah ok, that’s the detail.
so that’s sounding like a driver crash. GPU drivers are most common for triggering this, but anything else that has an audio device in it could be on the suspect list, also.
Restarting the computer is probably the best way to get them all unstuck. Although unplugging your wave device and then plugging it back in might also work.
Well, restarting does work sometimes.. or well I try to not as I am maybe already in games and so on, but I have tried the unplug and plug in again but it's the same there.
I have not heard the GPU drivers can be an issue

also those apps that were open they were the ones i test the sound with spotify for music browser for videos games for games medal to record and listen so i shut them all down and still i just dont know where the problem is
Any audio device driver hang can cause wave link /wave device to need to be restarted before it will work right again. GPU is just a most common one that hangs. Check your GPU overclock if it’s hanging a lot and it’s not just a crash game.
Another thing to try is deleting the misbehaving channel and then re-add it to wave link. If it’s just one channel doing it.
My suspicion is a streaming/recording app could be capturing audio and monitoring it to the device.
If it’s still echoing even when all that stuff is not running… then the only thing we have left to suspect is the audio device itself.
It’s not necessarily a problematic driver. It’s just if the driver hang happens, which could be from a game crash or unstable overclock; stuff like that.
The audio device crashing will mess with wave link.
Regarding updates, be weary of nvidia drivers. They have been a comedy of errors this past while and the most recent driver from a new days ago is another one causing many problems all over.
Unless you have need of a specific fix listed in update notes for a driver, I would be hesitant to update until it’s been in the wild for some time.
Just installed the new version of Wave Link 3 for the first time (Windows). My audio output seems to be garbled. Anyone else run in to this issue?
I've confirmed the issue persists using my standard audio output - > Sennheiser GSX1000 -> Magni 3 -> DT1990 headphones and from an alternate Elgato Wave XLR Headphones out -> crinacle Zero wired iems.

Yeah, then I think I’m right about the cause and the only fix I know is to close and restart wave link, while also disconnecting and reconnecting the wave device.

Ok, so it looks like the garbled audio happens when I create a blank channel, then add an app in to it.
If I create a channel for the app itself, the audio is fine.
Anyone else getting the issue with WL 3.0 where restarting your pc requires you to mute and unmute your channels for you to hear them?
has anyone else noticed the ever-increasing memory usage (a.k.a. memory leak) in WL 3.0? Had my system up for a couple hours and it had consumed almost 32 GB of memory. Didn't notice until the gluttony started to affect other apps.
After restarting it, it seems to be doing appropriate garbage collection and is staying right around 300 MB. Something must have gotten hung previously to cause it consume so much.

There were issues with the previous beta release, but 1891 should have fixed it.

[Issue] Wave Link 3.0 Beta — Audio Distortion/Latency in Mumble
Setup: • Software: Wave Link 3.0.0 (1891) Beta • Hardware: JBL Quantum 950 (Wireless/USB - 3rd Party) • Target App: Mumble
The Problem: When routing the JBL mic through Wave Link 3.0 into Mumble, the output is heavily distorted, stutters (robotic voice), and has significant latency. (Routing: JBL Mic -> Wave Link -> Mumble Input)
Troubleshooting / Notes: • Direct works: Selecting the JBL Mic directly in Mumble works perfectly (crystal clear). • Settings: Sample rates are matched (48kHz). • Buffer: I checked the settings (gear icon bottom left) but found no option to adjust Buffer Size manually in the Beta UI.

Honestly, I thought there might be some update, but as I think about it more, my best guess is it’s flagging a double use of a default.
So I would suggest setting your windows defaults to
Input: microphoneFX
Output: whichever wave link channel you want sound to appear on by default before routing.
And then I realize that this is so cropped that I can’t see the rest of wave link, so could be something else already being sent to that device.

So set your defaults right, so you’re not routing around wave link by default, but then probably what we are looking for is a double routing.
I think you might be misunderstanding something, or maybe the question is unclear.
The analog headphone output and spidif look like they might be the same device. Not sure if that device will be capable of using two different audio feeds.
If you’re wanting to switch between headphones and speakers to listen to your monitor mix, switch it with the monitor mix selector, and leave the stream mix blank (using its virtual device)
Stream mix hardware device routing is intended for use on a capture card.
- headphone = my IEM plugged into front of the PC, SPDIF = speakers connected to back of motherboard via SPDIF
- the headphone doesnt appear in wave link at all now, previously it was giving the unsupported error

So this Realtek device is the built in audio on the motherboard, right?
I think that’s going on here is since it’s two different outputs on the same audio device, it cant send a different audio feed to each. There may be some confusion in the software related to jack detection.
If you have the Realtek software package for this installed, there might be some settings related to this in there. Or might be in the bios also.
I think what could work (and be most convenient) would be if it auto-detects when a headphone is connected to the front port, there is a setting for if the rear/digital ports stay active at the same time.
(Mine can do this, for what that’s worth. And these Realtek chipsets are basically standard across most motherboards)
But that also means from wave link’s perspective it might never need to be changed, or it might get confused as a device seems to change names… when you connect or disconnect the headphones.

Or are you asking about the wave 3 mic…. Using the current retail release branch of wave link, which is wave link 2?

So wave link v3 is totally customizable and comes with no mix outputs by default.
Users creat up to 5 mix outputs, name them and configure them however you want.
So to make a microphoneFX output, simply create one that contains just your mic, and name it microphoneFX. (And optionally include sound effects if you used that option previously)

I have the Mackie DLZ Creator. Because of my big room I have a lot of echo and with Wave Link I can reduce it much better. I have a Stream Deck too but I dont accidentally "mute myself".

This is my Wave Link setup and normally everytime I speak I see in Wave Link the soundbar. I'm still unmute because I can see that my Mackie DLZ Creator have my mic activated and people can hear me. It looks like to me that the "connection" between my mic or Mackie DLZ Creator interface to Wave Link cuts
I see. So when this happens do you stop seeing any activity on the meter at the top of the dlz channel in wave link?
It’s not a wave device so wave link can’t mute it. So it can’t be that.
If you see no activity on the channel then the problem is happening before it gets to wave link.
It happends complete randomly. To my knowledge since when I play overwatch after 2-3 games (can be more or less sometimes) this problem happens. After that I must restart Wave Link and the activity / soundbar is visible can talk again with the wave link output.

Ah I see, so seems like maybe a specific game is associated with it.
So device driver hangs could cause this behavior. A driver can hang, crash, and restart and the device could start working again, but the hiccup causes wave link to get all messed up and channels or sometimes the entire app can stop passing sound until it’s restarted, or the device is disconnected and reconnected, or the computer restarted.
And not just audio device drivers, but Display driver hangs can do it also since displays and GPUs have audio devices in them. The devices are in the routing table that wave link is using.
So I bet the device could be intermittently hanging or disconnecting momentarily without a proper hangup.
There are a lot of variables. But could be a usb issue. Something specific about the way this game loads the computer or attaches to device drivers…

I used to get this whenever a game I was playing crashed.
Black screen for a sec, then the driver restarts and the display comes back.
But I would have to unplug and reconnect my wave xlr, or restart the computer before I would get wave link back.
Actually, I’m assuming you have a stream deck + since you’re running wave link.
I wonder if it could even be associated with that. If that device dropped off for a brief moment what would happen to wave link. Not sure.
Yes I'm happy that I dont get any blackscreens / PC lags, freezes or similar. Next time I play Overwatch I will have a better look when that happens

I have looked on my iphone and I don't show an option to make my iphone just a cam and the mic just to be Wave 3. Any ideas how I can use these 2 together do I just need to purchase a camera?

oh actually, it says here it can work on lightening phones, too; with the usb c adapter. Since wave mics are only usb 2.0
my Wavelink doesnt have anymore sound coming out from VoiceChat or Systeme... Everything set to these two give me no more sound
removing the channel from the mixer and re-adding it should resolve this.
Running Discord on my PC
in that case, discord selects camera's independently from microphones. So I don't understand what the question is. assuming your mic is already selected as the voice chat input, the camera will be selected when you start the camera stream.

elgato used to have an app called epocCam which used iphone camera as a webcam wirelessly or wired. I think it got rolled into camera hub, but might have been discontinued

So I'm not aware of a way to use iphone camera as webcam on windows.
But facecam neo is just $50 right now, which is a complete steal. Wow that's less than half of what I paid.

ok, I'm thinking this could be something to do with audio devices on your system not being stablly connected. Maybe a usb thing, maybe a driver thing.
But it's hard to say and I think you should contact #official-tech-support so they can get your logs looked over.

Any way to get Wave Link to actually keep the voice focus setting? I like to keep it on but it just keeps turning it off. I just started the pc, recorded a few lines until I noticed the sound was off and, sure enough, voice focus was turned off again. Seems to happen every time, and unfortunately I keep forgetting to check, too. Using a Wave3 with the latest Wave Link 3 beta.

Question/Issue: Since a few days ago discord seems to not recieve any audio if i set the input to the Stream Mix. Monitor mix and other inputs like MicrophoneFX work fine.
Voice focus is free on the wave device channel of wave link, just as it always has been for wave device users.
The stand alone version is a totally different thing and the ai:caustics license is (justifiably) expensive.
Anyway, you clearly don’t have the attitude of somebody who is interested in testing beta software, so I wonder why you did test it?
Actually, I’m not sure you really understand what beta releases are…
My advice would be to uninstall the beta. Return to the retail release of wave link if you have a wave device, and simply wait until it’s in a stable state before trying it again.
(And it would be great if you stopped being rude in discord. We are volunteers who help users who need it, but I don’t owe anything to be people who talk to me the way you have been)
Confused why you would set the discord input audio to stream mix.
That will usually include a lot more than just your voice, which will cause discord’s voice isolation processing to mute a lot of what’s going on. Perhaps that’s the problem?
MicrophoneFX is the correct setting for discord voice input.

i also noticed that its not just discord. The stream mix doesnt seem to work at all even in audacity. i can listen to it in the software and i hear it fine but other programs seem to not hear it
That’s a little weird so I wonder if some voice isolation is turned on in the system audio settings, or if maybe your mixer is set wrong.
However, wave link can include the sfx channel in the microphoneFX output. Just tick the box in that channel to do so.
(But note that discord will still attempt to remove sounds that aren’t voice from its voice channels by default, because they want their voice channels to be clean and clear)

You can add vst’s to this, via your mix, and the mic.
Most plugins hosts will need to be triggered to scan for new plugins after they are installed. In old wave link there was a button in settings to rescan. If not in this beta try restarting the app or the computer. But the point is, yes it will show up in this list.

No, I don't hink that right. I just fired it up on mac and all my plugins show up in this list on the hardware device input

Does anyone know if it's safe to DELTE this two virtual inputs created by Wave Link 2? I'm using Wave Link 3 and found out that this inputs are still here ( even though I uninstalled WL2).

either way, uninstall and restart again, and the start over with wl3. Because failing to fully remove wl2 is one of the things that causes the most bugs with wl3 right now.
done both an app restart and pc restart and none of them made the EQ plugin appear

verify the dll file is in the vst plugins folder correctly. But otherwise I don't know the proceedure to get WL3 to scan for new plugins. but that's what you ve got to do!

You want wl2 totally gone and restart. confirm that the virtual devices and the driver and everything is nolonger present on the system

Uh, so I've not tested the beta at all on windows. and I've not tried to remove it on mac. You might find better info on reddit since that's the home base for beta stuff.
But it's ok to reinstall wl2 once wl3 is removed. They just are totally different and the drivers can't work at the same time on the same system

Just moved and set up my pc and stream deck plus with xlr dock, everything is working fine (monitoring voice sounds good, Spotify sound good) until I press go live and then everything gets choppy and laggy. As soon as I stop streaming it goes back to perfect. Audio is choppy and laggy both for me and stream - please advise

No, on the opening of the app first. That's supposedly one of the "cool" new parts of this new version, you're not supposed to have it assigned to anything at first. However, as you see, I did use the Spotify one, and it still didn't work.

I did the mistake of having the Stream Deck / SFX at 50% because that's what I had in Wave Link 2 to make it balanced, but now in Wave Link 3 I need to have Stream Deck at atleast 90% or discord won't even pick it up

It’s only with the xlr dock, with the wave xlr everything is perfectly fine - using gpu encoding, no plugins fresh download only using currently for Spotify volume in my headphones
Hmm. Well the first description sounded exactly like accidentally using cpu encoding without realizing you were maxing the cpu all-core workload with cup based plugins, or using gpu encoding and having the nvidia plugin on.
But if you take out the wave xlr and put in the wave 3 it doesn’t do this?

First thing I would do is delete the dll file and re-download it. Restart the whole computer.

trying to mess around with voicemod and I understand the concept of it (mute your mic's channel and use a dif virutal audio one from Wave), but for some reason no matter what channel I pick VoiceMod doesn't seem to be lighting up anywhere 🤔

Working as intended. It filters anything on the channel and the effect suppresses sounds that aren’t a voice. (Or don’t sound like a voice, more accurately)
Probably you wouldn’t want to hear yourself outside of checking if it’s working; because the latency will make the whole thing quite distracting.
But likewise you can monitor the channel returning to wave link, if you wanted to. (Though again it would be latent)

ah I think I figured it out.. I think nowadays you have to install the plugin from the store which then gives you a new audio channel you can add

none of these seem to work the way I am wanting, the best one just mutes the entire mic versus the input
(goal is a button to toggle elgato mic un/off with voicemod on/off - voicemod part works fine but elgatos own controls don't seem to work unless I am missing it somewhere)
Put voice focus on the channel discord voice is coming in on, and our YouTube videos (browser) on a different channel that doesn’t have voice focus on it.
This will filter incoming voice and any sound effects people play in discord. Because it’s all the same audio feed.
That’s why discord filters and suppresses non-voice sound by default also. To keep the channels free of noise.
I don’t mess with wave link and stream deck much, as I use them on different computers right now. But my guess would be the output command having a volume and mute adjustment options.
there is a feature for the wave link plugin, not to be confused with the new wave link 3.0 plugin.

Those might be able to route to a different channel as discord has two audio outs, one for interface beeps…. If the videos come from that one…
So the idea will be click in wave link to route discord to your system channel (or browser or whatever) and then in discords out voice settings, set the output to voice chat.

I've never owned an elgato audio product but decided to give the wave link 3 beta software a try in an attempt to simplify my audio routing (aka avoiding virtual cables and voicemeeter). I can't seem to get my mic into any channel in the wave link software. What am I doing wrong?

hello! as a new user to Wave Link 3.0 (I just switched fully from 2) I have some feedbacks about some feature missing and bugs
- Some of my work need my mic to have no effects on it, and I really appreciated the separation between Mic In and MicrophoneFX that Link 2 had, but now it's missing on Link 3. It'd be great to have that again.
- Some apps have distortions when routed through a certain channel, but not when routed through other channels. Take Spotify for example. If routed through Music channel or its own channel, there would be some distortion. but when routed through Aux 1, there will be none.
- I'm not sure if it's something with the mic or the app, but when assigned to a VMware-powered Windows 11 virtual machine, the mic would have distorted crackling sounds.

you probably don't need to add nvidia broadcast app itself, but add the virtual audio device it creates as an input.
The wage xlr works fine, the xlr dock gives me the issues. Absolutely no plugins and only seems to happen (from my small test) while going out of the 3.5mm jack

When this happens, for me It seem to be a solution, to delete the channel and set it up again. Distortion and crackling of the audio was gone after that. I hope this can be of some help to you. Merry Xmas Season 🙂
In the hardware settings of the wavexlr you should click save to hardware. It should remember this settings and work even when connected to a different computer without wave link, or even connected to a different device entirely.
If it's not working that way, then this might be a beta bug. Remember to report your beta testing feedback in reddit; follow the link in the lower left of wave link.

Question/Issue: Hey i got a elgato wave 3 for christmas and i for the life of me cant get it or wave link setup right for discord. my friends hear my music or themselves through discord and my fiance hears himself loud and clear from the other side of the room even tho i have idk how much noise suppression active. i need help. im overwhelmed. i watched nearly every elgato tutorial for wave link and how to set everything up but i still couldnt get it right
Two things,
First, in discord voice settings set the input to microphoneFX.
(You can also set this as the default input for windows in general. So everything that wants your mic will have it, with any effects you have on)
Secondly, noise reduction will not suppress other voices because it recognizes them as voices and not noise. This is normal if you’re in the same room as another speaker.
Nothing else you can do about that besides being very close to your mic, and arranging it so its back side is pointed at the sound source you want to reject. (Set your gain accordingly)
Voice Focus too?
Voice focus and other modern suppressors especially. They are trained to isolate and keep voice, rejecting everything else.
So if a voice is in the room it will be isolated and enhanced along with your own.
They’re talking about the discord input in your wave link mixer. Not voice channels in discord servers. The problem is in the beta of wave link you are testing.
I have a wave xlr and am using wave link 3.0 currently having an issue where I can hear my mic through my earphones but no other audio, any ideas? tried restarting the app same issue

Having an issue with Wave Link.. so i set it all up and added the audio sources like Browser, music, game etc and everything worked fine. BUT when i CLOSE Wave Link Yes even from the arrow thing in the bottom left of PC and i set my System > Sound back to my headphones, its still routing audio with Wave Link? I try to watch a YT video and no audio but i can see in my sound settings that the YT video is playing thru the "Browser" source that Wave Link added.
Basically this would mean that if i only selectively want to use Wave Link, i would need to manually disable all the Added Outputs each time i dont want to use Wave Link and then go and manually enable them when i do.
Is this just how it works or something im missing?
Seems another Alternative is to remove the apps from the audio sources on Wave Link...i guess when you set an app there is forces that app to Only be able to play thru that source?

If you disconnect your device it might (hopefully) revert to the sound devices left.

Make sure self monitoring is off.
There are log files that #official-tech-support can look at.
But without more info… it seemed like you were routing wrong. But if you’re sure than go ahead and get a ticket going.
Wave Link System audio always goes to max when opening any software that has audio too it. Any known fixes?
Does anybody know how I can share screen without my friends hearing my microphone super loud and unfiltered through the screen share audio? I've got my mixes set up correctly I think and have tried all sorts of variations but nothing fixes it. I think it's maybe something to do with the way Wave Link plays back the personal mix (if you mute Wave Link 3.0 in the Windows sound mixer you can no longer hear anything)
You can mute your mic, and audio from your screen will come through, or the app depending what you’re sharing.
I think that was a rare bug with the 2.0.6 version so you could roll back to 2.0.4
Hi quick question, Im trying to download the noise removal from the marketplace and it says that it was downloaded and everything but once I go to add audio effects, nothing shows at all. I've already tried restarting the app, checking for plug-ins in the settings and running as admin for the download. Nothing seems to fix it
That looks like the beta, so I don’t know if there is a button to scan plugins, or just a bug.
Keep restarting the computer and stuff I guess. Or ask on Reddit, where the beta feedback is concentrated. (Report your testing experience)

The new Wave Link 3 update is pretty bugged out. When I go to add an app it no longer automatically switches the output device for that app in the Windows settings. I have to manually go in and change it. Also, some applications that are clearly running and playing sound are showing up in WL3 as "Unavailable". Lastly, for whatever reason, apps will just choose a channel at random to play sound through even if the app is already selected within a specific channel. Apps don't play through the System channel by default and yes I have System set to the default output inside of the Windows settings.

The mic is single channel, but wave link works in stereo so it will appear as dual mono there but there is no difference unless you’re applying a stereo effect in wave link which creates a difference. .
If some app is seeing it as stereo, be assured there is no difference in taking one side of it, or using the whole stereo channel.

Yes; signal flows top to bottom. Each effect receives and acts on the result of the previous effect in the chain.

Using stream deck, make a multi-action that changed the device and the mix output volume with the same key.
It can be a toggle, so it will switch to the other mode and activate again to reverse the settings.

Yeah that’s one of the actions you would put in the multi-action.
(I don’t use a stream deck with wave link currently so I’m not super expert in exactly what the actions are called for changing devices and level)
So create your key as a multi-action toggle
Then populate the list of actions for the first side, change wave link device, and then change device volume.
Then go to the other side of the toggle and populate that action list with the actions you want to do from the other direction.
in other words. your key is a multi-action toggle, then you'll put wave link plugin actions in that multi-action

I got elgato voice focus set up in elgato wave link.
Then the mix is sent to obs.
Obs spews out left and right channels separately because the voice focus sees stereo input and gives stereo output.
Somehow this causes a discrepancy between left and right since on some words, i can clearly see in obs different max peak values.
I noticed when left n right is at different peaks it causes artifacts (crackly sound)
I re-did the entire filters chain in obs, and now its perfectly synced with no artifacts.
you can have obs just one of the channels.
you can't push both to 100% because it's a balance control, not like 2 channels in a mixer pushing into a mix bus
the things you can adjust is first set you mic gain apropriately for your distance and then leave it alone. Then use the monitoring balance control and the monitor mix master fader (horizontal at bottom of wave link) along with your headphone volume control to create the balance and overall level you want. You have full control over the overall level of your monitor mix and the balance between that and your direct monitoring. So those are what you use to create the right balance, then compensate for headphone volume with that control.

Here are my OBS settings too:
The initial gain from OBS was needed because for whatever reason my microphone (Fifine AM8), even with Fifine Sc3(Mixer) cannot peak by itself at -5 db and average out at -10db. Without the gain the peak is at -14 and average is at -20-ish.
Also, elgato voice focus is maxed out so it gets rid of the computer fan.
And the computer fan isn't even that loud, without the said gain, the fan sits between -60 and -55 db. With the gain sits at -40, -45 db.
Also, if i add the voice focus BEFORE the gain, in hopes of decreasing voice focus agressivity, it still picks up the computer fan noise even at 80% voice focus agresivity.
Do I have something out of order? Or its just the Voice focus artefacting my channels?
If you're wondering, yes im desperate 😄 Switched already 3 types of microphones and this one's seem to be the best atm. I had:
- HyperX Quadcast S (Condenser) -> Was crisp on voice, however the mic placement was crucial, if i was 1 cm off the goldilocks spot, i would get distorted boomy audio like i was in a church! If i was in the goldilocks spot i had the voice i would like to hear (eg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_aqZgQRNfM)
- Razer Sieren S2 Pro (Dynamic) -> Had lower lower general gain (avg: -22db, peak -16) and Introduced the fan noise, a problem where I could not make it go away.
- Fifine AM8 (Dynamic + USB) -> Same fan noise, artefacting when using elgato voice focus (likely caused by maxed out knob gain).
- Fifine AM8 (Dyanmic + XLR + Fifine Sc3 (max fader gain) + Elgato Voice Focus) -> Fan noise gone ONLY at MAX voice focus agresivity, and very little artefacting (eg in a 45 minute video, it added 6 loud cracks at the beginning of words that i had to cut out in davinci resolve)

Usually trying different usb ports is the solution to this.
Since it’s stuck, if that doesn’t work right away I would disconnect them both and reboot and try one at a time.

question for anyone who might be able to help. Playing farm sim with friends, we talk in a discord channel. when i select application audio foreground, i can hear only farm sim, when i select all audio i hear myself talking, plus the game, hearing myself talk really messes me up. Am i doing something wrong?
It’s sort of a matter of preference. In general, noise suppression would be first, after that I like eq and then compression. Some prefer compression before eq; and that’s if you want the compression to react to your signal after eq corrects it…or before.
Eq first is usually more effective if you have a lot of low end or high end buildup you are removing.
When i uninstall the application, it tells me to unplug the elgato device, and when i unplug it, the audio goes back to my headphones. It is picking it up, the application just wont pick it up! i will try the usb ports now

It’s not. USB mics commonly have headphone outputs built into them as well, so they will appear to the system as a 1 in / 2 out device.

Yes, the Rode is connected to the Wave XLR, and I have renamed the Wave XLR. But I still don't understand why it is recognized as an output and not as a microphone. Because when I rename things in the software, they should also be renamed in Windows, which is what is done here. But my microphone is displayed as an output (the one I renamed) and my microphone as an input is left with its default name.

Wave xlr, likewise, has an input and output device. Mic in is what the wave device input is called. The output will (be default) be wave xlr (headphone) or something like that.

I still have one problem. In Discord, when I select mic in and studio quality (which Discord doesn't process), at least that's how I understand it, my AI voice focus is not applied. Unfiltered mic sound comes through.
Anyone have an issue with the wave 3 beta and the stream deck, specifically when it comes to controlling the "Game" channel? all other channels work for me, but the game one is bugged out on the stream deck. tried adding and removing multiple times. You can see the other channels next to it

Mic in is your raw mic with no effects.
Route your mic to the output you called “chat mix” and set that as your system default input. (And discord voice input)
Hey all, tryuing to get my game sound to come out of my "Game" channel, but currently only comes out of "System" even though i've added the application to the Game channel. Is there a way to force sound through a specific channel?
As shown here, my "Game" channel shows World of Warcraft, and my "System" is empty (though it's set as default in windows).
Some games don’t play by the rules and follow windows audio routing.
If the offending game doesn’t have internal settings to select and output device within the game, the only other way around is to set the game channel as you system default.

Also, what I've learned on that too is sometimes you either have to restart the game or restart the computer after you set it for it to apply because some games are just finicky with the audio system
I think a Windows update messed with the sound again. I can no longer select apps that are making sound from the + button in Wave Link 2. Is this a known issue?
Like, for example. I play a YouTube video in Chrome and it plays through the System channel. When I go to the Add App button under the Browser channel, nothing appears there. It is as if nothing is playing sound to be added to the Browser channel.
But obviously Chrome is playing sound because the meter under the System channel is moving.
The only way I can get audio to play through the correct channel is by going through the Windows Sound Mixer like we used to have to do a long time ago.
Do you guys know if the Juzear Defiant iems will work with the Wave XLR? I've heard it has low impendence mode for iems. If not what iems do you guys recommend?
I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I have some Truthear Hexa IEMs that I really enjoy. ~$90. Great for gaming and Music sounds solid.

I have an sm7b and my interface doesn't handle it well. Its not really an ssss sound. Just the normal high gain static.

Hi team, is Wave Link 3 Beta supported for Win 11 LTSC? I tried all kinds of things to get my Stream Deck+ recognized by Wave Link 3 Beta but to no avail. In what way? I just reinstalled Windows and downloaded the Wave Link 3 software for the first time. I just downloaded the Stream Deck app and can control my Wave Link channels with it. Do you also have the new plugin from v3?

Wave Link 3.0 doesn't NEED hardware activation like 2.x

Yes, only the XLR is displayed because you have to control things via it. But you can't control a Stream Deck for audio. Or do you have a Wave XLR add-on for your Stream Deck?

Ah okay. Yeah, in version 2 it recognized the Stream Deck+ (without the external XLR device). But because it’s free, it doesn’t need to do that anymore.
Correct, it doesn't need hardware activation in 3.x
2.x and 1.x required a Stream Deck+, Wave XLR, or one of the USB Wave mics (or a Corsair Voyager laptop)

Mostly likely hit issues with it before - maybe something likt the 1.10.0 issue where the Stream Deck+ activation didn't work (until 1.10.1)

It makes sense for private (not a streamer or similar) to have a system as a channel? I don't see the point if I can control all channels (game, VC, music) and they all come out of my headphones anyway. Why have a system then? Or am I missing something?
They took it away as a default for setting it up that way. It does for some people depending on what they're trying to do, if they just want a catch all to route all the audio
The main reason is to set it as a default audio device so anything you haven't setup yet will go there by default.

If your default audio device is your headphones instead of a wave link channel, then you’re likely to play audio past wave link by accident and create a situation where that gets confusing.
That’s why it’s preferable to have all audio go through wave link by default, instead of around wave link direct to the headphones.
I have the Arctis Wireless Pro. The headphones have a base that they connect to. The base is connected to the Wave XLR via an AUX cable.
It then runs via wave link or not
Wave xlr is not wave link.
Any app, or the system, can route to the wave xlr headphone port which is bypassing the wave link mixer. Audio sent there won’t appear on any channel, have no fader that controls its volume, and won’t be included in any mix.

But plenty of confusion gets brought here by users who don’t realize they are toting some of their audio around wave link without realizing it.
No, that's cool. I'm grateful that you're helping me right now. I'm always open to new things. If you say it's clearer that way, then I'll try it now. I'm setting everything up again anyway. The Wave Link software is just a bit overwhelming, which is why I've always left it alone. (Never change a running system.) Especially here, because if I change something, half of it might not work.
I'm having an issue where the voice focus turns itself off. is there anyone else who experiences this on WL3.0?
Is there a way to manually route the Discord call/notification sound? I can do this in the settings, but after restarting, it goes back to a channel. Every time, it blows my ears off.

The way I do it is to click in wave link to assign the discord app to the wave link system channel.
Then in discord’s own setting set the voice chat device to wave like voice chat.
does yours work for screen share? so if you mute your mic in discord server and then screenshare a whole screen, they'll just hear your PC audio andnot yourmicrophone at all? I think I have a similar setup, but if yours works for that I might be tempted to just start over and try to do something similar

With the note that I’ve been using it this way in wave link 2 on windows 10 for years and it’s totally stable.

I use voice focus, and I have not had any issues at all.
Voice focus is currently the best voice isolation processor fast enough to run in real-time.
It does reverb reduction as well as noise and has some subtle eq and dynamics- like effects at the same time.
I work in audio production on dialog and the tools I have that are situationally superior cost at least 300$ and are much too processor intensive and have over 4000 samples of latency minimum.
same rules apply to this as to any machine learning noise suppression: the harder you make them work, the more damage they will do to the voice.
That said, voice focus errs on the side of leaving a natural sound and will tend to let some noise through instead of major damage to your sound. (Kind of the opposite of nvidia broadcast)
Thanks for the detailed answer. The thing is, my mic picks up the whole apartment. Someone is typing on the keyboard across the room and the mic picks it up without any problems. That's why this AI focus is very attractive to me. Nvidia Broadcast was disastrous. It ruined my quality so much (even though I have an NVIDIA card) that it was absolutely not worth it. If you could adjust the mic to the voice a little bit, it would be a gold mine. But if you say it already has something in it by nature, that's fine.
Broadcast is really rough.
But you could always reduce the strength.
Same for voice focus though its maximum will probably do less damage than nvidia’s maximum… it might also suppress less noise.
It’s superior to broadcast in sound and also that it runs on the cpu. The GPU processing is problematic unless you’re really light on your GPU, and it has a latency penalty because of the driver handoffs.
But ultimately you’ll get the best results from making your environment quieter and being closer to your mic so you can reduce the gain.
Consider a dynamic mic, which are made to be used basically right against your lips, so it can reject more sound from its pickup pattern and distance.
Mics hear what’s in the room with them.
And sensitive condensers were designed to be used in carefully constructed studio rooms. That’s why Sinatra stood a couple feet away from it when he sang.
Processing technology has gotten very powerful, but if you really care about the quality of your mic sound, I would put the effort into arranging your setup so you’re not in a noisy room, and so on. Those will make the biggest difference.
I would also consider purchasing a dynamic microphone if it were within my budget. However, it is not that important since I mainly use it for Discord and occasional meetings. I have had the Rode for five years now, and it still functions perfectly. Therefore, replacing it is not a priority. I will experiment with the strength of the AI Focus and see what works best for me

After uninstalling before rebooting , check your boot options to make sure it’s gone from there, and check in $user/appdata/…/Elgato for a wave link folder and delete that.
First I’ve heard of this issue but that’s what I would try.
Then go to the Reddit which is more of a home base for beta info.

Yeah but thats just for the mic input. Nvidia automatically grabs system audio for the second track. You can only set that if you select a different input source. Since Im tryna get voice chat and the game on one track I gotta run a mix. It worked before (v2 link). Honestly no clue why its dont working now.
I figured it out. You have to give the mix an output. In my case, Elgato headphones. And then set these Elgato headphones as the output rather than the input in the NVIDIA container. Easy.
Now I have a separate track with my mic, and on the second track I can choose what I want and mix it together.
Yeah exactly, that’s kind of a quirk of how the nvidia app works; basically assuming users don’t have a mixer. So they take whatever the system audio output is.
You can work around that better with wl3, I think…

I think that’s the current best workaround, but the better solution would be to switch the primary monitor device, rather than create two different monitor mixes.

You could create a toggle for headphones, and another toggle for your speakers, to your mix. “Toggle Mix Output” They just wont be setup the way wave link 2.0 is.

it shouldn't but if it is doing that please report it to the reddit megathread.
phantom power is only needed if it's a condenser mic, also to add a cloud lifter might not be needed for this mic. if the mic is dynamic, then leave the phantom power off. also try without the cloud lifter. 🙂

From memory it seemed like the “save settings to device” button either wasn’t present in the beta, or wasn’t working.
they're correct the save isn't present in this update.
So probably this is catching out people who haven’t save the setting to the device in wl2 before changing to the beta
I've checked with the Wave XLR and XLR Dock.
Also, input gain does revert back to 45DB vs my configured 60
that might be due the save function as well.
so we might see more of this.
yeah i definitely dont need the cloudlifter but its moreso an issue of im a quiet speaker so it just sorta just adds some gain extra without cranking it in wave link
that mic is usually a good 65db without a cloud lifter, start there. (I have one of these.)

Boosters a nice to have. But I bet once you volume matched recordings it would be a subtle difference in background hiss, at the end of the day.
I guess you decide if it’s worth taking it out and adding 20dB digitally in the compressor plugin or something… or go through the hassle of going back to wl2 and trying to save the 48v setting.

so when I listen to my mic through wave link, I don't hear background sound as I have the effects on but if I listen through windows sounds? I hear everything and I worry that my games also hear my mic without the effects, have I set it up wrong?
Your default input is set wrong.
“Mic in” is the hardware device. Select that to hear the raw mic audio right off the hardware.
To have apps receive your mic audio after being processed by the effects you have in wave link, create a mix output that contains just the mic. (Call in microphoneFX if you want it to have the same name it had in wavelink 2)
Then select that mix output with just the mic as your default audio input, and select in as the mic input in apps like discord, just to be sure it doesn’t switch on you when devices are added or removed from the system.

Until now, I've been using Nvidia Broadcast to eliminate noise and Voicemeeter Banana for routing. I tried installing WaveLink 3.0 and found it very convenient, but for some reason Nvidia Broadcast won't start. I uninstalled WaveLink 3.0 and it started up, so I think the software is the cause. How can I use WaveLink 3.0 and Nvidia Broadcast at the same time?
Interesting. It's quite confusing though if I have a Elgato Device connected to my PC and it doesn't show up under the header "Elgato Devices".
Maybe this ought to be changed to avoid confusion.
As I already said, I think it's pretty unnecessary. People will be more confused if the Stream Deck is displayed there but has no settings.
And if you have a Stream Deck, you download the proprietary software anyway, and then you know that your device works and is recognized.
