It seems that the location of the butterfly with dye is different in the eyes of different players. My friend and I searched the whole map. She usually couldn't see any butterflies in the place where I could get dye. But she got dye in the place where I saw nothing. 🤔

my look on the alteration is that some parts remain the same because they still want to retain the original identity of what season the pants are from, so stuff like the black part can't be changed cuz it would look too out of place

The second method IS, that if people don't have time, or want to spend their candles on dyes, or wanna get them faster since they don't have the time to "cr" for dyes. Then they can buy them via the dye shop. Just like how furnitures are for the nesting season and area. We can buy the furnitures. So why can't we do the same for dyes. They should make them available to buy soon enough IMO.

Theres lots of ways that the farming can also be improved too while the shop would be a an option if you have the candles but not the time.

as for a list of dyeable cosmetics, we're not allowed to provide guides, nor could we give an accurate one at this time since beta is ever changing and everything we have is very WIP in the first build of any testing period

I found out that if you do a big call (press on your avatar until a big white circle appears) it burns all the vines at the same time and you repeat that until there’s just the main flower that you burn. I don’t know if it’s clear but it’s a lot easier to do that than to burn each branch individually

Your deep call needs to hit the ends of the vines. If they don't retract even if you shout at the tips of the vines, then yes please report a bug!

So I’m not quite sure I get how to collect the dye at all. I see there are place to burn and once done colored butterflies appear. I’ve gone to Forest and Birds nest, early this am and again just now, but hardly collect any dye at all. Is that what you do? Am I doing it right? i think people are doing an exploit to get full jars; I've found if i see colored butterflies around even if there's no plants visible if you deep honk to get them to lift you up you seem to get all of them

you can find the dye plants in prairie and forest right now, there's usually a few plants per area
sometimes when you merge with other players they get burned though so they're easy to miss! but the colorful butterflies stay so you can also look out for those

I feel like having past seasonal cosmetics' dyeable parts being limited is fine is an unpopular opinion :") I just like when certain aspects / signature colours of the seasonal cosmetics are retained, still giving the past season cosmetics more appealing to obtain. Having too much freedom will cause cosmetics look too similar with the other seasonal ones that are virtually identical , devaluing the others.

I also am glad the original ‘thought’ of the seasonal cosmetics is kept. I like being able to customise it a little bit, just to our liking but I also don’t think we should be able to change the colours of the entire cosmetics.

It seems that pre-existing items that are primarily a single color (base game pants, Shattering robe, Stagehand robe) or are firmly based on a pre-existing Sky creature (Rhythm masks, Sanctuary Ultimate, all Shattering capes) can not be dyed.

Personally I believe this was done to keep the item’s identity intact and recognizable. Items largely one color that can still be dyed either change small portions of them (cape inner layers, neckpieces, or trims for example) or slap a gradient somewhere on them. (Which has permanently changed how they appear on models in memories and spirit NPCs and is visible in the Live game right now.)

I do wish that the items not based on creatures could be dyed more significantly though. It’s very limiting on freedom of expression and I don’t think fully realizes dyeing as a concept. It’s difficult, because I’d like more, but allowing all sections of an item to become dyeable results in a single colored silhouette that makes them unidentifiable/indistinguishable, which isn’t good.

@forest glen when I dyed the jellyfish pants and closed the game for a several hours, I returned and the dyed item was still there. In the wardrobe; if you click on the cosmetic it will give you the chance to wear the dyed the one or if you want to wear the original one. Currently it seems the only dyeable hairstyle is the seasonal bald head tattoo. It makes sense that they wouldn't dye the classic white hairstyles bc that's the core identity of Sky and the Skykids so they wish to keep it. Same reason why the DoColour hair dyes remained as spells.

Of course in-depth stuff and specifics are always appreciated, but people definitely shouldn't feel like they need to write a long message I know it can be a barrier to submitting feedback if people think they need to write something substantial.

I had an idea, what if the darkness plants that contain dyes are more uniquely shaped rather than an almost similar copy to the existing ones; what if the buds are shaped like a pinecone? inspired by the way it "blooms" in the first quest cutscene, I like to imagine an egg shaped bud that blooms into a pinecone shape for the larger ones
