i study a wee bit of language history, primarily my mother tongue

so basically, we don't really know for sure how it exists, but think about the language of all languages. we call it filum, meaning it's the origin of the languages we speak as of today

and from this one language, it splits to accommodate the people living in that specific area.

but then!!! how do they become the language that we speak today?

over the decades and centuries, these languages may be influenced by existing languages, then integrating them into their own language(s) to make them more coherent and cohesive, having an identity of its own to be precise.

This reminds me of something I heard but doubt I can repeat verbatim— words with the same meanings but different origin groups are intuitively used differently. Some can be swapped around within sentences while others sound very odd

and, another info you should consider i think if you please :D

in order to become its own language, they actually have to go through a process where the words that have been changed through and thorough (in terms of spelling, not terms) must be categorized and then given definitions (which is why we have dictionaries)

now this isn't easy to think about. you have hundreds, thousands of words to sort, even the words reserved for different fields (i.e. medical)

so if you do intend to create your own language, i suggest taking inspirations from existing languages that we have today, and extinct ones too so they won't feel inconsistent.

my mother tongue has taken a LOT of influence from the English language, so some words are exact copies of the structures of their English counterpart, just the consonants are changed in order to follow the (I FORGOT THE TERM) guidelines

I’ve rarely seen appreciation for writing in the way art is appreciated. There’s not even a space in most servers for writing because they aren’t really expecting it, so I ended up building my ambitions around eventually forcing myself to draw more automatically and resent how much time I lost working on it. Even in writing I feel like I’m getting so much done but there’s nothing to show for it because I end up with near-exclusively slow-developing paracosms and already am a high functioning catatonic.

may i suggest the vocabulary app (on google play store) for the fellow writers

as someone whose first language isn't english, i struggle a lot w writing - mostly regarding vocabulary. the app is like a mini flashcards of random words you can set aside to study, or just keep in mind in any case you're gonna use it

that's pretty much how i learn English in the first place, i look at words then search for their definitions...a never ending learning process, but worth the shot

I’ve been told the iOS version doesn’t have the companion system (which seems counterintuitive to the core of the game, but that’s there) and that if you aren’t matched with someone, there could be a CPU companion. I’ve only watched (many many) play throughs on YouTube, but haven’t played it myself. It crashed on my PC at the broken bridge last time I tried it.
