I'll state it short and simple; I think FOMO as primary selling technique shouldn't be allowed at all, internationally. For things that sellers want to limit with time availability, there should be a known time of return and a known method of obtaining later, when the initial period ends. Exceptions exist, of course, such as collabs (IP issues), and items that are minor (pendants in Sky for example don't matter as much as a Ult cape or mask)

I mean, as an easy example for a returning temporary thing, you can get chocolate eggs mostly around Easter, but you know they'll return next year so it's not as impactful.

• devs then place obstacles to said fun things that costs players time/monetary investment to surmount
• if the devs are wise in balancing the fun things with the very obstacles they place, players manage to tolerate the system and devs can make a profit. If not, then players become resentful and devs will profit until the players eventually leave

So that tension between the players and the devs will never truly go away. There has to be some compromise between the players and the devs. And usually it’s the devs who have the power and the initiative so oftentimes all players can do is protest. Hence this discussion

and yes, sky has a fomo problem because cosmetics are one of the foundations of the game. sky is a social game, yes. but that doesn't mean that cosmetics don't play an integral part in the game
