OKAY CHAT COME AND LISTEN TO MY TERRIBLE HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE-

I was playing one of my favorite games (not Sky thank god) which was like a sailing simulator. It had been recently updated so it had new music, new places to go, the colors were much brighter and everything. It also has pop-up "storylet" events for random stuff happening. Well when I was sailing to the arctic, I had a storylet appear where I found a ship frozen in the ice and their crew was crying out for me to help them. Being a nice person who likes to help people I thought "Sure, I'll help you guys. It might be a bit expensive but that's fine, I want to play this storyline."

THIS WAS A BIG MISTAKE. (gonna update in chunks bc if the text wall is too long scared I might get beaned).

So what happened is that one particular game dev yeeted me into Game Studio HQ, which was for some reason an incredibly realistic supermarket except it was super bizarre and things kept changing (they sold giant 2D berries, electric scooters that made you physically incapable of making sounds ever again, etc.). Apparently applying to playtest Game Studio's new game meant that I had just applied for an internship. So I was trying to have a job interview but the game dev who CAUSED ALL THIS kept running around in a creepy game of hide and seek and I had to keep finding her in order to answer her questions.

The worst thing wasn't the weird supermarket, I kinda like stuff with a weird aesthetic. The worst thing is that I know the name and face of this particular game dev so it was... REALLY realistic... just an actual person doing that to you.

AFTER GETTING YOTE INTO SPACE AGAIN I get thrown into one of those kids' climbing playgrounds. Like the hyper colorful ones where you can crawl all over the place and climb up the ropes and everything. There's someone else with me but we were too scared to move so we just hid in one of the climbing spaces. We find out that our "internship" at Game Studio is actually to survive and make it to the other end of the playground... in which case we'll be forcibly turned into an NPC for their new game and lose all self control...

AS IF THIS WASN'T BAD ENOUGH me and the other intern are like "...What are we supposed to survive?"

AND THEN THIS SUPER CREEPY CAT THAT'S LIKE FIFTY FEET TALL BEGINS SPRINTING AT US AND CLIMBING INTO THE CRAWLSPACE (seriously, it was SO creepy, all of its facial features were swapped around so its eyes turned into mouths and stuff like that, it moved like a gmod ragdoll because its bones were on the outside of its body and stuff)

SO APPARENTLY the internship is "get to the other side of the playground and get turned into an NPC for a new game" while this EVIL GIANT CAT is creepily crawling after us. And the WORST THING is that me and the other intern figured out the ONLY WAY to stop it moving is to look at it. Except it needs to be on the same level of the playground as us. Which means we have to climb DOWN TO ITS LEVEL and there's no space for us to do anything because the cat is so big we're basically forced to stand right in front of it under its eye mouth things while it breathes creepily on us.

Usually my nightmares aren't so bad and visually graphic stuff doesn't terrify me because by the time that happens I realize "oh this is just a dream, I'm gonna go along with this for funsies" and then it turns into something else, but THIS TIME I couldn't do anything. Like I KNEW it had to be a dream because why would this specific game dev be doing these awful things but the button to turn it into a non scary funny dream had broken.

for comparison, my last two dreams were:

1. I was writing a book called The Flying Machine about an inventor in the early 1900s New York City who created a sentient machine that could fly with real wings, like it actually grew its own wings and they were feathered and everything. Tragically the inventor passed away when the machine was struck by lightning and he was flying with it, so I was simultaneously typing out the plot of the book and reliving it (the rest of the book was about finding his family over the years and interviewing them about their experiences with the machine).

2. There was an apocalypse (which was somehow less traumatic than this nightmare) and the only way humanity can survive is by living in the "concrete jungle", they can't touch the ground any more and it's super dense and claustrophobic like Kowloon Walled City. Also the majority of adults are dead so the main population consists of small children. A bunch of kid survivors had codenamed themselves after the Chinese zodiac (Dragon, Rabbit, etc.) and the dream was just about their daily life and how depressing it was.

personally, i usually get premonition dreams, epiphanies and solutions to irl problems and work
if not i get dreams that help me feel and sort out my emotions for the day or week

based on my experience with videogame cameras and Sky's camera, it seems to let you adjust the camera however you like. Unless you're moving, in which case it'll automatically recenter behind your character and level with the horizon (great for platforming that one /s), unless it recenters in front of your character, e.g. the Valley races. Flying also lets you move the camera... for a few seconds before the game recenters it behind you.
Unless you accidentally touched a Spirit, in which case the game jerks and wrenches the camera from you every few seconds whenever someone touches the next spirit memory and FORCES it to point at the spirit.
To say nothing of all the cutscenes that just wrest camera control from you - it's especially fun in the Wastes or Eden, when you've been spotted by a Krill but can't see yourself because the camera really wants you to stare at this cathedral halfway across the map.

the way it moves with spirits is definitely the absolute worst, even when I'm the one doing the spirit because instead of going the right way it just ends up spinning everywhere and going in walls

An example i love is transmutation in terraria, because that specific example directly relies on the fact that the sprites in this game are all stored in a giant spreadsheet and that, and manipulates the way the game moves through said spreadsheet for items that can turn on and off
So when i learned this glitch i got to see how the game manages all the sprites of blocks i place and interact with, and how i as a player can exploit it to get another result
