Tbh TGC should allow players to collect more candles in a day than just max 20 during a season 😭 at least 25-30 would be sufficient and save a lot of time…

The Returning Spirits are a neat concept for decreasing the wait for Traveling Spirits.

However, they are currently worsening the fear of missing out of the game, for the same reasons as TS :
Randomness in a giant poll of spirits
Large number of candles necessary for them
And most importantly, limited in time.

Here’s my suggestion for a revamp:

At the beginning of a new season, the Seasonal Spirits from the oldest season could become permanently available to purchase, with the same Friendship tree.

At the beginning, it’s 6 old spirits for 4 new spirits, allowing for the growing TS poll to be reduced.

At one point, when the TS poll is reduced to an acceptable degree,
it’s 4 old spirits for 4 new spirits.

It would allow for a better experience for players of all ages:

New players will get to see more interesting cosmetics available immediately.

Old players can fill their collection of spirits with no FOMO.

Players in-between can now get their favorite spirits quicker, without having to wait more than a year.

I think this is well fleshed out, except for the fact that new players will get very overwhelmed if they find all that is currently in the game with thousands of candles worth of spirits to buy, I think it would creep up on them over time

There’s been a lot of challenge to the randomisation of the TS system, many of which are because of factors that wouldn’t necessarily exist in true randomisation

I've been around as long as you and I agree, there's always more items that come out that you'll like, but that's exactly what I fear would deminish the old items if this idea were to be real D:
Players want both new and old items because you have to work AND wait for both of those, especially the latter. What you do in that time, waiting for those cosmetics, is important.

While you could always make a new dream outfit if you got tired of your old one, you probably wouldn't waste your time saving to buy the cosmetics you want less if you don't have a lot of patience and drive to go through that massive backlog of items you only kind of, but don't really, want when you're already busy buying both event items and current TSs that are most more time-restricted.

personally I don't see a problem with collecting stuff because I have a newfound fulfilment in that since #outfit-requests exists and I'm happy to provide my mega closet of items to help others that keeps it fun for me and sometimes really banger combos come out that I didn't think of which makes me appreciate older items once more

yes, I'm talking about prioritizing items, but to an almost extreme degree
I think that's what the system would bring eventually
(I was just trying to make one point here yeah)

this is already something that happens to a degree and it's not a bad thing at all in concept, I'd just be sad myself if it got to a point where many old items would be forgotten by the majority of players

...but I might also just be wrong and maybe that wouldn't happen, we do want the same thing after all I love being a collector too (even though I fail couse I already struggle with being consistent )

honestly I think it's much healthier to prioritise items than try to get everything from the TS because of fomo, that's like
unhealthy -> contributes to CR grind -> burnout

I usually recommend to newer players who are interested in TS to always focus on getting at least one item from the spirit if they want something, then anything else is a bonus

also there's always someone out there who likes the one niche item

Honestly, I hear that sometimes. I've never been good at a competitive or completionist sense of Sky, like... I log on, do my dailies, and then run around trying to find the funniest boat messages out of context until I get bored and log off again, or sometimes I go pester my friends. It's weird to me but also kinda stressful at times, trying to know what to say when people get angry about candles and FOMO and stuff like... it's just kind of wearying after awhile? It's not 100% accurate to sky itself, but it's pretty good nonetheless. Was messing around with it on a server where you can enter the end by going high enough and was able to just fly up into the end

Well, the main "inaccuracy" is that you still take fall damage, although it very thankfully(due to only having 3 hearts) drains your light rather than outright doing damage.

All in all, both the advantages you get and downsides are pretty extreme
