Instead of grinding candles to unlock their nodes you complete quests that expound on their story

Completing the last node allows you to ascend them and call them back home for extra fluff dialogue

There are 4 main classes (some cosmetics are classless)

Warrior - Focuses on short- and medium-range damage and tanking. Some capes, some masks, and the firework staff, along with new weapons.

Summoner - Focuses on long-range damage, allows you to evade damage while your creatures attack for you. Includes creature-related cosmetics.

Bard - Focuses on buffing members, with a bit of punch packed in. Includes instruments and some emotes. You will be able to walk with standing instruments, albeit slower. Music sheets provide buffs that get stronger the more you follow the rhythm, but some can cause penalty if you don't.

Builder - Focuses on creating traps and buffing/healing members. Includes placeable props.

Across the world, you can find map shrines. Usually one per area. These map shrines add in sections of the map, so you’ll eventually build a complete map of the world.

Once you’ve filled in the map a little more, you can use it to look for lost WLs or forgotten spirits in each area.

I have Shadow and Rosa, I guess. Shadow is a skykid from Golden Wasteland, and a botanist. Rosa also really likes plants, but she’s from Daylight Prairie instead. The two happened to meet during a field trip one day and have buddied up ever since.

(Shadow likely got their name from Rosa - they were a lone wolf in GW before venturing beyond its borders, so I imagine they didn’t have much comprehension of a name.)

One of my Sky ocs is Azra. Azra is blind, but a skilled dancer and martial artist.
She is not a skykid, but a Light Dragon, a race of ancient creatures that serve Divanwar and The Light, and protect creatures of the Light from Darkness, as well as guide the sky children on their journey.

I have 2 other Sky ocs, but im kinda wanting to change some things with them.

I only have one so far:

I've yet to decide a name but one of my skykid oc is born from a shard of eden. A particularly strong eruption managed to propel him all the way to the isle of dawn as the only shard there. Eventually, the shard broke down and he was released into the curious world he now lives in. Eden still calls for him though so sometimes he falls into a trance and would travel to it, ||only to find himself back again in the kingdom of sky.|| ||He loses parts of his memory as he travels to Eden though, ala a sort of timeloop where the start is almost a clean slate. But that detail is for another day to expand on||

This is totally not because I had the idea of shattering moths being basically born from the shards

I'm also thinking of another skid oc born in the hidden forest but I've yet to flesh that out as well

Admittedly that’s probably about their dynamic. At least to a certain extent. Rosa would probably be the one to get lost - she’s excitable, but not exactly too sensible. And Shadow’s a more cautious and sensible type, but perhaps to excess.

Hard to say. Both of them kind of help each other in a way. With how adventurous Rosa is, she’s usually the one helping Shadow into new situations. And with Shadow’s level head, they’re usually the one getting themselves out of trouble.

I have a headcanon that, for instance, in Shadow’s first trip to Daylight Prairie, having grown up dodging crabs and krill, they run and hid from the first manta they saw, believing it to be a threat, too.

Funny enough looking at the krill hair long enough gave me the idea that the little headpiece is a shard that's stuck with him. It's black and dormant just like how it is but certain triggers can make it reactivate and turn red and make it dangerous to be near him. Dont know what those are yet but I imagine negative thoughts being one of them and so it's important that he has friends to keep it in check

Though the idea of friends shunning him away when they realize what he is ||and him feeling that weight of betrayal def makes it spicy and convenient for him that he always forgets the people he meets when he rebirths unless the person is able to embed themselves into his memory||

Here's one! i was gonna write two but uh the secone oc i was gonna talk about is a little messy and i am the sleepy rn so yeah lol

Ceros is a Dark Hunter (a member of the Dark Hunters Guild, a coalition of skykids that aim to protect the kingdom from the threat of darkness that is lead by the skykid realm overseer, Gevrah) who specializes in traps, hunting in the forests, healing, and ranged attacks.
You can tell they're Ceros by their one-horn on the right-side of their head, their ponytail, the triangle facepaint under their right eye, and their hooded dark-green cape.
Ceros is also one of the best Dark Hunters in the entire coalition being in the elusive Kugelblitz rank amongst all the members. They prefer a more tactical and stealthy approach compared to their fellow Kugelblitz ranks.
Ceros also sometimes joins in the investigations of their boyfriend, self-proclaimed detective, and fellow Kugelblitz rank, Persus. They even wrote books about their exploits together which happen to be popular among young moths and older skykds alike.

I got Vulpi, a young vulpine skykid menace to society, Daath, a skykid who directly serves The Light aka Megabird, Chameel, a shifty shopkeeper who just appears randomly to sell useful stuff to Dark Hunters who need supplies, Shade, a friendly little partial-krill kid who actually rescues skykids in the forests from time to time and is really sweet, and more.

How did it take until the Season of the Little Prince for emotes to be added to the list properly (at the end) instead of just throwing them in haphazardly?

Also the Ceremonial Worshipper is easily the most useless Spirit.
Like, even Stance Spirits have more stuff, and the Stances have an actual cosmetic use, this is just an emote which doesn't DO anything.

I will say that the icon looks lovely.

Hey cozy! Just wanted to say that I usually see 2 types of common sky kid oc tropes:
They’re all kids and do kid things
Or
Some are actually adults and fall in love
And I just wanted to say!!! I think that’s so cool!!! How we can take these characters and make them our own!!! And how no one is ever like “you can’t dO that they’re supposed to be KIDS” like!!! Idk I just think it’s neat how we all understand that some people want their ocs to be adults and fall in love!!! And some have headcanons or AUs that Sky kids can grow up!!!! And how some think they stay kids forever!!!! I just think it’s super cool!!!!!!!

And also how if someone wants them to fall in love and be romantic they make them older so it’s not weird!!!!!! And how everyone is so respectful of pronouns!!!

respect for each other is rule #1 here but we've definitely seen some scuffles over what's canon I like the official TGC stance that the story and meanings are open to interpretation, not that there's a "right" answer. that's a good way for storytelling to get the audience emotionally invested

My bf and I actually talked about the reasons for the kingdom's demise a long while before shattering existed. I came up with the idea of my OC (they're also my Skysona) being a former scholar/apprentice for the Vault Elder and stumbled across forbidden knowledge in the archives, mentioning the elders' plans and their methods. And you know what happened, because shattering and eden stuff. But we were still surprised at how our made-up headcanons and lore mostly lined up with shattering's finale So the diversity in lore for sky ocs are very fascinating, imo

I like to start by seeing what others’ interpretations of the story are! Hearing some input can help establish some ideas about the world and what it really feels like contextually, and from there your imagination can either fill in the gaps or develop its own ideas about it all

it depends on the region. like some folks have windy weather all year round, some people get the usual hurricane/typhoons, and some people live in the USA midwest with the nastiest tornadoes (very windy kiddos)

@daring mirage Personally, I like a bit of a more optimistic interpretation. My interpretation is that the prince is something else entirely, rather than a skykid or a human. Perhaps also stardust, but in another form. ||So my theory is, with both reincarnations, he's returned to the stars from which he was born and to which he belongs. But his 'home', so to speak, is not in the Starlight Desert or in Home. So there's still no chance of meeting him again.||

||The snake, I feel like, is a character that can skew your judgement either way. Betrayal or infinity - it's your pick as to what they stand for.||

Yeah ive encountered the shrine glitch a few times. For some reason the cutscene of lighting the candles will freeze your skid the only thing you can do is sit down at the shrine. Sometimes you can get out doing a emote but yeah idk why it glitches ;-;

I'd say its not supposed to. The fact you arnt able to speak at all or emote adds to the weirdness of Journey and that you truly are this random thing on some sort of Jorney and the only information you are gaining is from the rest points.

Sky very much heitens that idea and adds a way to communicate more than just "honking" or "dooting" whatever you wanna call it. Sky is more a multiplayer evolution of Journey i'd say qith a even more expansive of small stories through the spirit memories. It loses its form of silence with the emotes that some people love

Well it seems to be in an alternating red/black schedule so assuming next reset a shard does fall, we should be able to get our 150th WL

The wall you have to jump over in that shortcut always trolls me when I'm chibi. Either I do it first try or I'm stuck for ages.

at this point i might just Leave the trial and Sacrifice myself to the krills-

If you are on mobile you can tap and hold onto ur skid and then flick upwards to get that jump. Works better for me than spamming jump repeatedly.
