Just sharing some quick feedback that I liked seeing the coloring pages that are coloured by hand from people on the server — that was the reason I am following this channel.

The website by TGC is nice, but it’s basically a bucket-fill version, and it will very quickly fill up this channel and drown out other drawings that people have manually coloured in themselves

Most of them are awesome ,but these are all clearly talented people .. To me its about the peoples different techniques and how they have decided to tackle this ... Its harder than you think and takes loooooong , mine 3 days .... @analog girder i know what you mean... Yeah i use the game colours too ... I did not know i was capable of drawing like i did ( i knew i could draw) but i have suprised myself as using a phone screen with my finger and no stylus too has tripped me out .... I think the love of sky brought out the best in me .... I have drawn the characters in pencil before but digital looks awesome and i cant wait to draw my next one as i did not expect to beable to make them look so good .. Next time i will not rush like i did with the back islands ... I really regret it as by that stage i merged layers and as much as i could of done back islands again i would of had to draw sky kid deer mask one again and no way as that took me the longest ... Lesson learnt .. Dont rush lol .. Omg im jibbering on haha ... Anyways bed time for me ... Night guys and gals 😘

@shell tulip if you use ibispaint, click on the layer then the three dots at the bottom(should be right about the options like screen, etc) then when you tap on them you should see “clear white (color)” and that’ll help you be able to fill it in! if not, maybe look up tutorials? 🥺

@haughty hollow I really liked the textured coloring on the clouds, grass, and rocks. But for the sky kids maybe use a different shading method? Something with more of a hard/defined edge? The airbrush look to me just seems a bit out of place and too soft, when compared to the shading of the background.

@haughty hollow I love the way you did the clouds and stone! What i'd suggest is to darken the contrast for places such as the front island, and to lightly airbrush the back island with the blue of the sky. It'll make it blend and look further away (atmospheric perspective)

Id reccomend toning down the saturation of the colors on the bg to let the characters stand out more, decide whether youre going for warm or cool colors, the sky appears to be setting which would be warm. but the clouds contrast too much as a cool bright blue and they just clash too much, aswell as the green. the clouds would look better whiter and the grass paler with a slight yellow hue. the characters are good! make sure theyre the focal point when it comes to colors . try other methods to shading other than just gaussian blur

@sour coyote If you use medibang paint, you can have it only have lineart when you add the layer with the coloring page. From there you can just mess with the settings until it looks good enough

Sorry to be a stickler, but the transparent versions being offered are not a true alpha channel, they are simply white selected with a given tolerance then deleted, which roughens the edges. Can anyone please use a proper image editor that puts the original black-and-white into a full alpha-channel layer mask and give that output as the file (PNG would work well as the format)?🙏 Also, keep the image size the same (I’ve seen versions now that lose some of the original’s resolution, which was extremely low to begin with (how ‘bout a higher-res one, TGC?🙏)).

Huh. Maybe it’s a compression setting for saving out the PNG🤔 PNG supports both compressed and uncompressed image data, which may become lossy as compression is increased, I’m not sure. The size change alone could account for it.

My annotation was meant to hilight that line nearest the arrow is not as clear as the TGC original, pictured left. You can also see the resolution(/size) difference in the 1st screencap.

OK, I bought Procreate since its new version, 5, is now out (last time I had checked, Procreate couldn’t do this), masked in the original, and saved the output to Files, then re-imported that result over the original to double-check that there’s not the slightest loss in detail or accuracy.

This should offer anyone who wants it a digitally exact transparent version of the original that fully preserves transparency for the anti-aliased pixels along the edges of lines and through tapered strokes, suitable for line recoloring that accurately represents the combination, especially along the edges of the line, of the line’s color with surrounding/underlying colors (you can of course also control the line-art layer’s overall transparency, as well)! 😇 Post as a pinned message, if you please.

P.S. For anyone wondering: I will actually not be using Procreate to paint, but instead import this result into Art Set (I only have iPad) because of its watercolors’ being, IMO, much better than Procreate’s, and I want to do a watercolor version.

By the way everyone, when you download an image from Discord the resolution will be compacted, leaving you with a relatively low-res image. For instance, downloading a transparent lineart for the coloring page. It's not any one user's fault, it's discord's.

@boreal warren Oh, no no, I could never accept something with different stroke nuances. It’s not that I think the coloring page is drawn with the very best of drafting skills, but I would be very surprised to find any replacement acceptable not directly from TGC. I’ll admit the same thought did cross my mind because I’m not thrilled with its draftsmanship, but accomplishing a betterment of it would be more work than I care to undertake at this time, for the result likely to be rendered. Feel free to tackle it, anyone else, though. But don’t expect me to be thrilled just because it’s higher-res, either😜 That said, don’t let my persnicketiness dissuade you, as I’m sure many in the community would welcome such an alternative🤗 And I don’t mean to imply no one can possibly do any better, just that I’d be very surprised if I personally found it to be so for myself😅

As a pragmatic matter, my chosen painting app, Art Set, currently maxes-out its brush size at what is already barely adequate for the current resolution, which I wasn’t aware of at the time of first calling for higher-res, so even if I did get that, I wouldn’t really be able to color it as well as I’d like to.

Furthermore, because I lack a stylus and have only my fingers with which to draw, properly controlling strokes to make any attempt is effectively impossible. I’m lucky I’ve been managing as well as I have in my own coloring of the template.
