@fast hearth bruh you know downloading APKs is against the Terms of Service, right? It could cause a lot of performance, account and malware issues for you. Trying to use APKs will result in download problems and may result in account data loss and inability to contact TGC support. On Android? Not likely unless graphics are handled differently in a future android release. Currently, there isn't a way to separate OpenGL and Vulkan renders via screen recording in Android. (Menu is rendered by OpenGL ES and the game itself is Vulkan.)

Nah, kernel is in line with Linux.(since Android 10, Kernels are required to be up to date with Linux mainline kernel) It's in software, not in the HAL that needs to be optimized. (Kernel is the abstraction layer that interprets the commands to the hardware.)

I would still trust a gently used SD845 over a new SD870. Flagship phones have a better build quality than budget phones. Better OS support also. Mid range phones are lucky to get just one major OS update while flagships have at least 2 major OS updates, if not more.

I wouldn't be surprised if that Moto edge S is 32 bit either. Moto usually cheaps out on their midrange phones.

Most all VMs won't pass basic attestation which is required to run Sky, so it will crash at start up. That's also a topic we shouldn't discuss. my primary one has a UHD 630 (and a GTX 1060 that I was never able to get it to recognize) and that was the one that worked a long time ago

https://browser.geekbench.com/vulkan-benchmarks seems my Ryzen 2200G scores over 2 times an Adreno 660's score... Seems integrated chipsets would run it fine. This is also why VMs are bad. Too much performance overhead. If Sky ever does come out for PC, integrated graphics should be as good as current flagship phones...

My 980 also scores around 10 times the 660 at 40,000 points.

It could be battery heat. What you can do is try playing while fully charged. Since Android 9.0, there is a mode called "battery idle mode" that bypasses draining the battery when it's fully charged and just pulls power from your power plug.

When I take a screenshot from the game itself, it turns out in a better quality but when I try to record a video it just gives me the screen recorder on my phone and the quality is very low.

No. The in game camera feature bumps up the graphics. You can do this for a single frame as it doesn't matter if it takes a few seconds for one image. If you increased the quality on video, it would be pretty choppy for lower end devices.

This is probably a super dumb question, but could playing sky every single day potentially decrease the life of my phone? I'm using a google pixel 4a and it really heats up if I play for long periods of time. Also it start to get less FPS and lag if I play in a session longer than an hour. Would it be worth investing in a budget tablet to play sky on instead?

I would suggest playing the game while fully charged. Your phone won't have any battery heating issues if you do that. Be sure to use the charger that came with your phone if possible. I explained why here: #android-questions message

I don't think that's a good idea for all android devices. Doing that with my Honor Play degraded the battery faster. I think not all manufacturers (especially some who really want you to buy their next phone) intentionally don't tweak their device to support it...

Seems Xiaomi and Huawei don't have it in their kernels yet per a quick Google search even after customers plead to have it added. Reason I would never suggest those two brands.

I use ACC and force battery idle mode at 80%. I have had this setup on my Pixel 3a since release. (Almost two years) the battery still tests at 2875mah on Accubattery. That's the same mah from almost two years ago, so if your phone supports it, it helps a lot.

Joycons work just like switch pro controller from my experience with other Android games and apps, when they are on a controller adapter.

If someone needs a phone for sky, the Z2 Force was liquidated when it was still a newish phone. I got my replacement 9 months after release for $125. It has a Snapdragon 835 and is 64 bit. You just have to look around for phones like that.

The terms of service are pretty standard for games in general, I don't see any points in there are extreme or prohibitive of normal intended game play. I would advise you to consider changing your username or giving yourself a nickname in this server, it's not respectful and one of the main core rules of this server is to treat everyone with decency and respect.

It's due to MC4. The G76 needs at least 8 "Media Clusters," not 4 for 60 fps (so a G76-MC8 would do 60 FPS).

Lag will mostly depend on your internet connection speed, stability and ping. I play with my 5years old Google pixel 2 and new pixel 5 as well with same smoothness.

What I rather recommend in choosing device is to consider phones which less likely get hot during battery, cpu and GPU load - for better comfort and battery life.

I like android better but have to admit that users say playing sky on iOS (especially after android) is like butter, much easier and generally better graphics. Also notes won't lag as much while playing any instruments.

For all Samsung users: I just realized that if you connect Bluetooth headphones to your phone and then go into sound settings, you can click on "separate app sounds" and play Sky audio through your phone speakers on mute while you listen to music through your headphones. It's not as easy as having a setting in-game to turn off audio but once you set it up it's really easy to do 🤙

@pastel shore bruh you know downloading APKs is against the Terms of Service, right? It could cause a lot of performance, account and malware issues for you. Trying to use APKs will result in download problems and may result in account data loss and inability to contact TGC support. APKs cannot be used to bypass the device incompatibility and do not help TGC with beta testing at all. Please don't use them or discuss them here.

The main two you want to make sure your device has is a 64 bit OS and Vulkan support. A good chunk of lower end Android phones are 32 bit or don't have Vulkan support.

Example: the Samsung A10 is 32 bit.
Example 2: almost all Motorola Play series phones are 32 bit.
Example 3: all Motorola E series phones are 32 bit.

No, 90% of them are 32 bit and the ones that are built on a 64 bit OS don't pass CTS. I.E. Android Compatibility Test Suite, which means you will have... Oddities.

So they just say it's against the terms to make sure no one will have issues. Which will happen.
