Wait what are the Elders names? I dont think I'm aware of that yet
Daleth - Isle
Ayin - Prairie
Teth - Forest
Sah and Mekh - Valley (respectively)
Tsadi - GW
Lamed - Vault
And Alef - Eden (the king)
Also you said you understand about Teth being a traitor and Tsadi being a dog. May I know why they are called as such?
I love how how the first three elders are absolutely gigantic and the other 4 are just very tall but not gigantic
The small head but big body got me wheezing ngl
Can anyone pls send what words are censored in this server istg
I typed out a long and very family friendly paragraph only for it to not send what in the crab is this what did I say??
The amount of words being filtered in this server is p ridiculous tbvh if I must say
I'll write another one holdon smh
Is this found in a mural or smth---
The one with spoiler tag
Nono its the current event in beta rn
You can go over to #beta-screenshots-videos to see the photos they've taken if you're curious
you’re not allowed to post beta stuff here until it’s either scrapped or comes to live
You’re not allowed to post beta content here, only live stuff
Can you keep your headcanons relying on beta stuff to yourself until it comes to live, please? Thank you
There should be a beta lore channel ngl
Hard for ppl to ask for lore but this one is banned to ask for the continuation of beta ones
I understand why there isn’t but you can still ask beta lore stuff in the beta discussion channel I think so it’s not that bad
Sorry for sudden question, is this concept art from switch trailer concept art?
Oh, it was right and I just found same content source link here, sorry
It seems to be the old concept art for the wasteland elder (I think?)
Back when the elders were once considered to be animals.
Dawn was a vulture, Day was either a Lion or bull, Forest was a Lynx/Kitsune, Valley were possibly jackals/wolves?, Wasteland was a crab/spider monster, and Vault.. I am not sure Possibly a Whale since it is the odd one out and the tiny "teth's friend" note (teth is forest elder).
Vault has a monkey I think, I know krii has the pic but I can't find it, it's an orangutan thing climbing up bookshelves
I know what you mean, one moment
Top left
(just realised the earlier image is the same one 🤦♂️ )
I think teth's friend is Ayin ! They even have the whale mask on concept art & on their temple in live !
Oh wow I am definitely a very observant person /s
It is possible more than one animal design was considered for the elders, if not for possible more than the 6 we have.
I think the king's fursona would be a krill but like, not basic.
A dragon king does sound epic.
Grandma of the forest is seen giving out buns . Are these like normal buns or Bao buns (Chinese steamed buns) ?
where did you find this concept ?were there others with it ?
Thank you ^^
They used to be colored before being changed to what they are now, I honestly think they’re just pastry buns with custard
Because if they were colored they'd look like Grandma just plucked out some darkfruits and gave them to us
Not sure what kind of implications that gives but interesting
GRANGRAN DON'T BE AFRAID OF GIVING THE PRIDESAUCE EVERY NOW AND THEN COME ON
Maybe each bun is a different flavor of darkfruit
Hi
What do you call a fruit in space?
A star fruit.
does lorechat want me to throw more seasonal lgbt headcannons into the world?
I think that would taste great
I've heard many headcanons as to what the buns are and my headcanon is that
It's been each of the things that Cozy predicted, depending on the time. Belonging Grandma, like all other grandmas, has an arsenal of great dishes, but is terrible at presentation so all of their dishes look the same.
Oh no…that
Yooo, since the elders used to be animals do you think they'd have animal masks for each realm at some point?
There is one mask of the old elder designs you can see in the game today.
At the top of the door frame in the Forest temple, is a mask of the Forest elder's old Lynx/Kitsune Design.
if light creatures got their light extracted to make the power crystals, I was thinking the same thing if they did that to the dark creatures and so begins the eden crystals
For me the eden crystals are probably just overused power diamonds like the eden explosion theory
Eden crystals sponsored by Galaxy note 7 batteries.
y know the orbs are like the placeholder for the urchins and grandma's pastries
Have a cup of water lore chat
🥤

Or perhaps...
Tea?
🍵

Hmm... Is anyone a coffee person?
☕

Do you think It'll be an actual mask?
More of a hot cocoa fan lol.
Then that coffee emoji can also be cocoa
Well... It is/was a mask. Now it is a relic of the past and hangs there as part of the temple decor.
Even part of the Day temple's design is reminiscent to the old Day elder's mask.
Yes, I knew that
I think this is the process of powering the crystals
-
Gathering some resources, aka the reason the Treasure Reef has a mineshaft
-
They then put the mantas on those 2 bubble columns for experimentation
-
The extraction tower, aka the factory that powers the diamonds
The Bigger the manta, the more crystals they developed
as extra, I think when the mantas are all out of light, they became krills, but this is just my theory
Those look to be beta content, please move to #beta-screenshots-videos since beta content isn’t allowed here
Thank you!
Here’s what I think the fursona of each elder would be:
Isle is Egret
Prairie is Water Buffalo
Forest is Deer
Valley is Puma
Wasteland is Rhino
Vault is Elephant or Dolphin
absolutely valid
Valley Elder(s) being a puma is oddly fitting
hey question is it normal to see whatever tiny fragments of official lore do exist and just ignore them if they don't bring me joy? because every so often I'll see something that just doesn't fit with my tightly woven nest of headcanons and theories and just say "No :)"
It’s a controversial topic, to be sure. Although it’s always useful to be open to new opinions, not all opinions are good
Question Why doesn’t the Big eden diamond corrupt the Beam of light
Uh, i guess? I mean to be fair yes because its about doing what you like, not necessarily what’s official. Although here most of us go off of official material if i’m not mistaken, so like… hmm
I think it’s because the beam of light is just that powerful
I think it was the beam of light that shattered the diamond, personally
I think the eden diamond creates the beam of light
I think the beam of light is a pseudo-natural occurrence that requires the influence of the Eden Elder to exist (I believe in the "king is the diamond" theory so it makes sense that the diamond is there)
Yeah, for example when a dev says the days of rainbow guide may not be rallying thrillseeker, I just ignore it.
Hey, if they said "may" then they're not stating anything :>
They're still staying vague to not upset homophobes during an event inspired by pride.
Such is the way of capitalism
"you earn your freedom, and we'll be there to celebrate with you. After you've fought for it. And we'll take part of the credit."
I get it but also you can't make pride events without breaking some rules, such is the nature of celebrating minorities that are sometimes still illegal to identify as.
Anyway yeah, the lore is up to interpretation to encourage you to make your own stories; if you feel a lore thing is getting in the way of your storytelling, litterally nobody will complain.
(okay but genuine question, if a dev confirmed the queerness of a character from the game here on discord without it being clear within it, would it be incentive enough for governments to ban Sky even though the blatantly gay stuff happened outside of the game ?)
usually governments ban or censor content if there's queerness explicitly in the content itself, not implied on social media
Not sure, but I suppose not since a lot of media evades bans by using poor dubs and editing scenes out even if the original is still canon
in a way I’m not a fan of Rainbow because of what it might imply within the kingdom in terms of queer spirits
I’d Rather Not have these issues and fights for rights implied in this game’s universe pls, they’re worrying enough outside of it
is that weird
it could be that Days of Rainbow is a celebration that, while based on irl pride events, still is a holiday to the ancestors
have made headcanons for the event which I think I shall organise into something coherent
I reckon it's a complicated topic, I do wanna point out Homespace is not entirely canon so maybe DoR is not entirely canon (because ancestors aren't humans), as opposed to DoN which happens in Sanctuary.
idk maybe uhhhh
maybe this is the rainy time of year and it’s celebrated by appreciating the rainbows that come out so often as a result?? idk
maybe them appearing is a phenomenon and it’s celebrated with wearing rainbow motifs
idk
Days of Rainbow to the ancestors does not have to imply that the ancestors discriminated against queerness, rather that they used the holiday as excuse to have fun and unite communities, as though winter holidays bringing joy among family during the cold harsh climate
yesss I’ll be stealing that idea
I love it
It's not that weird I suppose. I personally don't like when media tries to include diversity while trying to avoid showing the diverse struggles those people have to go through and I'd rather see those topics actually be dealt with, but that might just be me
The way you feel is absolutely valid
the struggles being shown is veeery important. this is just the last piece of media I want it in is all
it makes me feel validated while struggling with my gender so no thank you
THIS
Maybe DoR is a celebration of diversity since rainbows are the fragmentation of colors from white light, yet still are united in being light.
And you can draw parallels with pride irl but not say they are the same.
No yeah I completely understand that, Sky despite the obvious relation to climate change and our own imminent doom is escapism for a lot of folks
alternatively, I would like to see media that includes diversity but isn't about the issues, treating it with a sense of normality. we already deal with a lot of issues irl, the media we consume for entertainment can also be an escape and make them feel good about ourselves, showing an ideal world.
Xe/Xem's your spirit to add a bit of spice to the gender soup.
throw in a handful of ze/hir
this is what Sky is for me
Ey/em for the fans
voi/void Nod moment (this is a real thing I do)
Yeah I suppose that's good as well, but seeing issues and struggles get represented is also important, if those things never get brought up then a lot of people will continue to pretend those issues don't exist while said issues progressively get worse
It'd be nice if we could have both things really, but sadly we barely have either
sprinkle in some ne/nym or ne/nim
well, one piece of media does not have to be everything at once.
I think it's where the lore being up to interpretation is a strength, you can have your ideal world or a representation of struggles depending on the story you wanna tell.
I’m not saying that discrimination should be ignored - it should absolutely be discussed and fought - just Not in this game where Everyone is no biney and this is the only thing I know that has that and it makes me feel validated and loved and likely others too, please and thank you
I'm not saying it has to be, I meant it more like having varied media
I already get people irl hee-haaing about using my proper pronouns. I don't really want to consume media I use to relax and escape that shows the same damn thing, further stressing me out
Understandable. I also do think ancestors don't really have gender like us so the issues (if there are any) would be different imo.
like. the spirits have legit helped in exploring this? it’s nice to talk about characters with nothing confirmed as a way to feel seen, while in a place where the binary is rigid and trans rights sadly have a way to go (they are getting there though. a lot of people are for them, it’s just getting them to be a thing against stuffy bereaucracy sadly)
idk I’m not wanting Rainbow to be implying that in any way please
Henlo there lorechat how ya doin
how is Days of Rainbow, which emulates celebrating queerness and exploring diversity, worse than not having it all and pretending it doesn't exist?
discrimination being in this game would make no sense since iirc most of the characters are implied or stated to be nonbinary (and it’s possible they have a view of gender/love that is different than how we see it)
you still get it in the form of players tho so
I’m super duper happy for Rainbow out-of-universe - concerned about what it means in-universe is all
there is most likely discrimination in the form of classism but idk if that’s relevant to this
I like to think maybe ancestors had to debate about the self being fluid or not ? Like some may think identities are set in stone and you're simply discovering what fits best as you go, while others believe you're your truest self at all points in time and your identity being something that may change without losing integrity (fyi my wording may be poor, I'm not in an english-speaking country)...
Could parallel darkness being stuff that stays static and won't move, and light being in a state of constant flux punctuated by deaths and rebirths.
dw your wording makes sense
if you didn’t say then I wouldn’t know
now that i think abt it is there any proof that days of __ events are canon?
debatable
My idea doesn't translate well irl since some folks gotta discover the idea of being queer, while I'm assuming ancestors bathe in a diverse world.
just like everything else in sky lore 😔
ok uh
I think Fortune, Bloom and Feast are for starters
probably Summer and Summer Lights too
Rainbow? debating
My take is mostly no, like yeah past spirits show up but like
Did the ancestors really construct a big floating dragon with fireworks for no reason at all?
It would be amazing if they did, but still..
I mean, they do have flying boats.
ive never seen any days of events except rainbow, bloom, an summer lights so
(and mischief/feast in beta last year)
I’m a late Enchantment kid so didn’t see this event but I also think Healing is canon
white poppies as symbolic of. say. maybe it started after everyone was dead as a war memorial holiday (like rememberance day or summat)
i dont think any event that takes place in office is canon because i dont see office as canon
Yeah I think office was confirmed to be not canon
actually it would be really interesting to me if office turned out to be canon because i like media where the characters become aware they are fictional
oh no I’m considering bringing in headcanons about Enchantment (considering the cauldron) as to how Mischief could be because I am biased toward the season
maybe it’s a kinda. “pretend to be alchemists” day. mock spells and the like passed around - also real but harmless ones
assuming that coloured lights and stuff were brought by where the crew came from. a way of honouring that but in a fun fashion because creating spells is oft serious and tedious so why not look at it in a silly way to make it less so
I get you. discovering and embracing queerness is discovering and embracing one facet of self, one out of many aspects that include identity and improve self-esteem. while the ancestors, being agender beings, would have different conceptions of gender and sexuality than we irl do, those are not the only facets of identity brimming with diversity nor the only ones worth celebrating.
I really like your point about the rainbow being different colors of light but still light. given we know ancestor culture considered light spiritual, sacred, or at least a part of themselves, the rainbow is an excellent way of showing how they may differ yet nonetheless still be considered one of the whole and beautiful all together.
that’s such a beautiful statement I love that
Ask your question in #questions-and-help ! This is the wrong channel for that.
I think this may best be suited for #questions-and-help
Ask in #questions-and-help please, I don’t think any of us are cut out for questions like that
now that i think abt it, it’s possible that skykids may have given spirits the idea for some events
anyway silly headcanon ramble. imagining Mischief as a kind of a prank day, involving spells - both fake and real
Yes ! YES ! I AM NODDING AT YOU SO HARD
also Vela. Slink icon gang 🤝
I requested this
There’s a thought that the Days of Sky event, which commentates the anniversary of Sky’s Live release, was made by skykids to celebrate their first arrival to the world / the birth of the first skykids.
oooOOOO I LOVE THAT
if skykids are at least vaguely aware of irl celebrations (i feel like they might be, because you play as one) then
Open tgc ‘ workplace ?
The office is not currently open, no - if that’s what you mean
please could you ask your questions in #questions-and-help next time? thank you
Please ask any questions you have in #questions-and-help, please, this isn’t the right channel for asking these types of questions
maybe i should experiment w my hcs actually. the convo the other day about if skykids are their own characters that have the ability to act seperately from the player made my mind go waa waa woo woo
This breaks the 4th wall a bit but I do like the thought of queer sky kids being comforted by spirits, Sky's a comforting game.
sky already plays with the 4th wall just by having office and occasionally having NPCs that represent people who work at tgc so
A godsend, tried my hand at making my own but his look so so good 👌
I Was going to use the one with all five I asked for but
1/ I’m not brave enough
2/ They don’t all show up on circular format
Tempted to ask Slink for aroace Commodore
wait i just had a thought. are there any other skykid NPCs other than the one who hangs out in office and guides people in during certain events?
Can't forget Ktjn showing up after Days of Summer Lights ended to point us to Days of Mischief early
(does anyone want the link to the post DMed? asking because links not allowed here is all. dw it’s nothing against rules I promise)
I am not saying anything.
the dev personas in Mischief?
i forgot what those look like oops
teleports behind u
do it. I’m so happy at how mine turned out - speak of the devil!! Hiya!
During some of those events, other similar skykid npcs may also be in the office (or office sub area if there is one), sometimes looking like an actual skykid or with the spirit look that's similar to a memory candle
slink jumpscare
This is the slink person you’re talking about?
(hi btw)
What do you think of the concept versions of krill?
I know a lot of people seem to like the teeth ones alot
tfw using memory candles for spirit cosplay skits because they make you look like one
But I find myself preferring this kind
OH YEAH I LOVE THIS ONE
THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE GAME??
Admittedly, I'm not a fan of how it looks like darkness inhabiting the wire frame of a paper mache dragon's head, but other than that and the odd purple spots that kinda looks like eyes, I really like it
The whole paper mache frame of a dragon head is likely something unintentional that I noticed for some reason
I quite like the raggedy, wirey "head" and the "softer" shadow-tendril body
I like how they look like they are falling apart. I love krill.
this has the same energy as that tiny stick figure in the Abyss mural
Ehhhh, in the same way the isle elder was once supposed to be a vulture. These are from back in the "planning days" of sky, before the final decisions were really made and different ideas were floating around
I already nearly quit after getting krilled for the first time, this would have exasperated my megalohydrothalassophobia immediately and I would have probably never touched the game again
why does concept art for things tend to be more appealing than final versions though
probably because of it prompting imagination as to what these could be for and about as opposed to that already having happened?
Correct probably. If the teeth ones were the ones in game, and the krill in the game now were just concept art, we probably would have found the actual krill more appealing/more interesting
yeah it’s definitely because it leaves it up to our imagination
You guys want it in the game????
The shadows kinda seem inspired by the teeth krill, just with a different facial feature (eyes) instead of the mouth/teeth
Plus concept art has no or less restrictions, the game is restricted by needing to run, 3d models, and making things look and move somewhat logically
I know I bring up Ex-Questgiver’s billion lanterns from that one ThatSkyShop art card an awful lot but it is fun imagining how and why that interaction is happening
and of course why they have so many lanterns
also also because I miss them and this big bit of content is reassuring so of course I’ll be thinking about it
I mean, krill may need to eat, and they don't have any mouths in game! They must be starving! /j
Have a photo of that?
“average ancestor owns 5 lanterns” factoid actualy just statistical error. average ancestor owns 1 lantern. Sleepy Traveller Spirit McSpiritface, who travels the world on a boat and owns 20,000 alone, is an outlier adn should have not been counted
here
this is the only official art of them actually doing something aside from being on the boat (aside from with staff) of Course I’m gonna think about it
yeah that’s very true
big misty krill would be fun but how are you supposed to Make That………
...non-seasonal daily questgiver from before the statue gave quests/the boat merchant that is sometimes in the home area, but also with a scarf and 3 wedges??
Honestly, agreed. I like it, but it's just... Wayyyyyy to much 3D modelling tbh
Are.... are those two pinecones?!?!
I think those two are the same person
yeah they have a scarf here for some reason
Pinecones.....
oh that’s so cool… imagine these + the LA krill roar. chilling
Do you think that skykids could survive in lava, or have being in lava be a recharge?
Obviously, they get recharged via fire as one of their primary recharges along with capital L light. Lava is like.. fire that’s liquid and really hot. And it emanates a lot of heat. But, it’s. really hot. Like really hot. It could melt the skykids.
So, the question remains: Could skykids survive in lava?
Don’t make the rusty cogs in my brain turn
Wouldn’t necessarily say they’ll melt & die the most horrible death, but…
I am actually going to say no. Skykids get recharged by fire because it contains light; the heat is a byproduct. Lava is just molten/superheated rock and would either melt their shells, killing them, or have no effect
i think lava would give light and pain
I personally think it would overcharge them, they’ll feel really light
ok that’s a good debate
i think if fire doesn't hurt skykids then lava probably wouldn't either (other than the possibility of drowning)
I wonder what would happen if you threw a skykid into the Sun. My theory is thst the heat and light would overcharge them, but they’d be unable to escape its gravity and would be stuck in there for ages, getting extremely powerful
Tbh we are not sure of what skykids are made of, but whatever material they’re composed of is definitely enhanced by magic, so it’s a question of whether that magic can withstand molten rock or hot plasma
Need a Season of Volcano to test that out
season of set a moth on fire
one time I had a dream where the wasteland shipwreck was filled with laval And when I touched it it drained my light. that is all the evidence I have to offer. Maybe I saw a parallel universe or something we will see
we already have season of drown a moth (abyss) and season of throw a moth into the sky (flight) .when will we get season of set a moth on fire and season of bury moth under the ground
season of minecraft
Season of Gravedigging????
if you gave a skykid a set of diamond tools, how long would it take until there was property damage
Please, we don’t need to give skykids another valuable blue rock that will result in the destruction of the land and of so many people. This has already happened once
Sky kids are basically invincible (aside from darkness) so they are already far too powerful. The last thing we need is to give them weapons.
would the firework staff be considered a weapon
skykids having weapons would be so cool you are just being a coward
you could hit people with it plus it shoots fireworks. i would like to talk to the saluting captain and ask what they were thinking when they allowed skykids to have the staff
saw the word lava n it reminded me of a hc that like
the elders/stars r basically fire proof n all that jazz like skykids sorta but dial it up to like 100 and to them lava is like a rlly funky hot bath so if there was like a volcano or something that went off they’d just b having the equivalent of a beach day but w a volcano n lava like ⛱️🌋🌴☀️🕶️
Instead of playing with slime skykids play with lava. I am jealous, I want to know what it feels like
Skykids would play with magma cubes
Skykids see a magma cube in Minecraft and go OMG it’s just like me!!!
skykids in the nether what will they do
thrive
they hop into the lava and just sit there going :}
Skykids: this is just like the hot springs in the Village of Dreams
I feel like a skid would try to help the crying Ghasts because they just look so sad :(
Now that I think about it would the skids heal/regain light when hit by a Ghast's lava projectiles?
Skykid getting extremely happy because of the giant flying creature that continuously shoots light to recharge them when they need it. They do not realize the truth
They ignorantly bring the Ghasts to the overworld and that results in disastrous consequences
They honk uncontrollably while panicking as the Ghasts destroy everyone else
Moths especially
Sky kids would win at “the floor is lava”
Because lava is just
Very warm floor
Yea
I 100% can see Skids in Minecraft being naturally immune to most hazards just because they are that hazard
What is it what is it....
Fire aspect?
Yes
THANK you
Fire doesn’t hurt them in Sky, so lava wouldn’t either
If they were forced to, could an Elder defeat a Skykid?
this of all things is what I come into
good
I feel like skykids and elders are weirdly equally among like power and that stuff
I still think Skykids could win against some of the Elders: they could pick up crabs and throw them
Skykids may be OP defensively but their offensive abilities are sorely lacking in effectiveness
But so are the Elders, excluding Wasteland and Valley
looks at forest elder wielding a giant hammer
And so? Skykids are immune to bonk damage
I think the Elders have some strong offenses, we just don’t see it. We get glimpses of them during Wasteland Elder’s cutscene, Isle and Vault Elders are probably magic users to some regard, and the Valley Elder(s) could be a deadly duo.
From my fic:
I put rapiers here because the Valley Elder(s) have swords in Orbit instead of their signuature paddles: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Bonk hard enough we lose winglight doe 😭
One winged light. Out of how many?
you brought up that valley and wasteland elders had strong offensive capabilities. i simply pointed out that forest did as well
Oh yeah I forgot, but even still Isle, Prairie, and Vault can’t do much
before reading the conversation around this I assumed by “strong offenses” you meant crimes they had committed
Clearly you haven't been hit by grandparents wielding canes or handbags.
“I think the elders have committed many large scale crimes we have not seen”
Me nodding along: yeah they sure have, I bet the twins robbed a bank. Wait
do not underestimate vault elder they could manifest a knife in your chest and boom that’s it . And you would deserve it for fighting them in the first place
That hurts to us, but not Skykids
Yeah, our bodies are too hard for that. It would only cause emotional scarring at worst.
Eh, Skykids have seen worse than that
True, true
...TGC GIVE US A THERAPIST SPIRIT PLEASE
Therapist skid. Anything. Season of therapy
PLS HAHAHAHAHAH
I think skids themselves canonly do not have actual emotions tho, only us players
what gave you that impression?
Tapping the sign because while it may not come from ableism, this line of thinking is still ties to some misconceptions and biases linked to that.
Also skykids do express emotions as early as the first elder cutscene in the game.
Because all of our emotes (even feeling/emotion) emotes are them mimicking from dead spirits
Sky kids are actually able to use emotes they don't know in cutscenes. The most recent example is performance. The sky kid uses a level 2 emote my skid doesn't know, but my skid still uses it.
Also immediately labelling someone was ableist just because they interpret the media differently is a bit extreme, no? Especially when they media is a free to interpret kind. This is a lore channel any theory is accepted and should be discussed rationally
Also yea I think maybe skykids do have actual emotions, but they don't exactly know what that feeling is? If anyone has read Houseki no Kuni before then you'd probably know what I'm saying (Best example is Cairngorm, for Alef I think the best example for reference would be Phosphophyllite, especially what happened to Phos in the latest chapters)
Fourth Performance Quest and Final Dreams Quest disproves that
Yea but still up to everyones interpretation
The entire “skykids don’t initially express emotion in a way we are used to so they must not experience it at all” is a line of thinking directly tied to ableism as stated above, yeah. It’s a line of thought that directly negatively affects autistic people in easily visible and discernible ways, and while I recognize that this game is open to interpretation, giving platforms to theories that are directly tied to and which further ableism is not something I’m interested in or will support.
Most people don’t think of or realize this theory’s ableist links at first, unfortunately, which might have happened with you. But they are there.
I litterally said that I am aware you probably didn't mean to be ableist before warning you your opinion may come from biases that were.
Your first sentence I read wrongly as my first language isn't english so I probably misinterpreted that sorry
“Sky lore is up to interpretation” is a benefit, but it can cause horrific theories to sprout up. There are two things in particular which I dislike
Don't be dramatic either, they just assumed no expression = no emotion and it got resolved.
I've noticed that the sky fanbase in general seems to ignore 'the suspension of disbelief'.
Sky kids don't express stuff, despite other video games usually having a silent protagonist who sits there with a blank smile on their face? No emotions.
Sky kids don't eat or go to the bathroom despite other video games not doing that because it can be a waste of player time? Sky kids clearly don't eat or need the bathroom.
Like, it's a very literal fanbase.
Unfortunately, yeah. I totally support the lore being up to interpretation, but a few theories that have sprouted up over the years are harmful. Some (like the one you mentioned Faye) get mentioned and shut down here a lot which makes me think a lot of players hear it somewhere and pick it up without questioning it sadly. Thank you sm Faye for understanding :}
Lore starvation is one hell of a... you get what I mean
Now that's probably not the only reason but it probably contributes
does the toilet in office count as toilets being canon in Sky or is that a leap
I’m worried that it’s common in the Sky fanbase
I feel like it's less "Lore Starvation" and more "We aren't sure if our theories on how stuff works will get proven right or wrong next update, so we take things as litterally as possible to be sure we're canon compliant"
Well, Office is probably an easter egg area, so take from that what you will
Toilets could definitely reasonably exist in valley because of plumbing and all. which leads me to the incredibly funny visual of a skykid archeologist trying to find out what they are and becoming frustrated that they can’t think of a use for them
I feel like "lore is up to interpretation" works better with games that either are finished upon distribution (everyone knows the bases, now it's entirely up to us to build from here), or aren't as centered around lore (less focus on something not a lot of players look at, like minecraft).
And then they accidentally nuke the toilet while experimenting with it
Looking at the Wasteland secret area
What if there are toilets... but they're all for CRABS /nsrs
Place in wasteland disguised as a cool secret area that is actually just a PRANK to flush every switch skykid down the toilet while the devs LAUGH about it… 💔
Mario canon
When we look back on this chat after a month and realize we have somehow gone from the faultiness of Sky's lore structure to toilets, how will we react?
Without surprise
How low have we stoopeth?
Baby I know Sky lore you don't even care about.
Touche, veteran lorist.
I feel like I already know examples of this but also my ciritpistu has been piqued
Your ciritpistu, eh? Haaaaah.
OH I keep forgetting but also I need to post something here I realized from yesterday. I definitely need to bounce it off other people, because it makes a bit too much sense to ignore imo, but I have no idea what it means in the bigger picture w lore or how it fits together with the other pieces (if I’m being honest, it doesn’t make a ton of sense with them)… hold on
Okay so a basic rundown of the biblical story of Eden right. Paradise like home is created for the first humans; they directly disobey god’s wishes to not eat a fruit that would give them great knowledge of evil (iirc. I don’t remember the exact temptation but it’s close to that) and are promptly kicked out.
Intro text for current version of Sky:
But darkness came, and the stars fell...
Together, the fallen stars made a new home in the clouds.
If only they had listened...
A long time has passed. Now, I call to you.
Wake up, child. Bring our lost stars home.```
Implies a previous home before the current home for the spirits we see that is categorically better than the one we see now (having infinite light). This might be orbit because it’s where we have to return the spirits to? I don’t know. This is one of my major points of confusion, because I can’t figure out what that original home is & orbit is a bit of a weird answer for reasons I will get to later… anyways.
here is the vault mural of the king eating something visual to fruit which I believe is a continuation of this whole metaphor. Also, Eden is called Eden. My past reasoning for this is that it was previously a paradise, but I don’t think that that being the only similarity would warrant it being directly named after a famous paradise with a whole story revolving around people getting kicked out of it for some sort of crime.
After bouncing this off some friends I have realized that the fruit in this metaphor would probably be darkstone in general, specifically the Eye, which makes sense. But. What does this mean on a wider level?
What was the previous home thst the spirits got kicked out of — if we stick with the metaphor, it’s a completely different geographical location? Was it the place currently called Eden, and if so, did everyone previously live there and the whole kingdom was only established post disaster?
Is the Eden in this metaphor Orbit, like what the intro text seems to imply? And if so, what does that mean about how Orbit works thst you possibly can use darkstone in it and get kicked out — and that it was everyone’s previous home?
Was the Eden just the same world and geographical location but without darkness?
How does this fit into the whole season of prophecy arc & what’s implied with stargazers memory?
I have more questions than answers here, sadly
totally hoping for other peoples opinions on this because. I am baffled
Yeah i think the eden before is the same but without darkness and destroyed houses
I would advise against using the intro text for anything, tbh. Maybe Eden was a city established by the citizens of the Sky world, but it got destroyed by the King.
THE KING HAS A MOUTH W H A T
WHY
THAT'S UNNATURAL
Why would you advise against using the intro texts?? They’re one of the only times we’re actually told anything.
Wait i think what you meant is that the stars live in orbit the spirits already have a home but probably without vault and eden, ever since the stars fell (elders and king) they started doing CriMes or something which leads to what it is today
ITS A NECK THING DONT WORRY
I’m just wary of it, considering how many times it’s changed and how hard it is to interpret
I mean yeah but… considering how much lore the intro has been stated to contain… if we ignored it we’d never get anywhere. Plus the refinements are supposed to make it more easily interpreted. I get your wariness, because It is so easy for me to poke those words and get 80 different interpretations from them, but that’s all of Sky.
To my understanding Eden is the name of the storm that rages on top of the mountain at the kingdom's center which may or may not also be the name of the mountain but that's a different headache as the realm itself is named "Eye of Eden" which could be interpreted as like the eye of a storm!
The king is a real human. All other entities are wax automations
The elders are just massive server racks. They’re the only entities actually doing a job. All others are just hobbyists, maybe even normal people who are in a kind of limbo
This is a really neat interpretation that I haven’t heard before, but we have to keep in mind that Eden is a word with heavy and obvious associations to any possible players. I don’t think it makes as much sense to name a storm that vs a location, although I’m not sure, maybe there’s reasoning I’m missing.
also I don’t want to be rude, but ngl it is a bit frustrating that everyone has decided to focus on the king having a mouth vs what I would much rather talk about tonight.
hey about the “spirits may have lived in orbit, not sure” thing, we do have physical structures made of pure light (itty bitty stars) in orbit. perhaps there are more structures in a different place up there?
i think one of the streams mentioned that the elders are also fallen stars, so maybe it was just them up there. could be either just the elders or everyone or just the older spirits but tbh it feels kinda weird for them to fall from their big sky palace made of light and go “alright, time to live in a cave”
omg wait the performance act 2 stories relating to candlemaker 👀
Oh yeah that would make sense! I wonder how much of orbit we can’t see, making this a lot harder 💔
it’s really weird because the intro text DOES seem to imply that orbit is the previous home I’m thinking of but it doesn’t make much sense. Unless everyone involved was chilling as stars and didn’t really have a human form, thus also making any sort of crime to get them kicked out much harder to achieve… I’m just lost in general.
There is one more explanation I could have to explain that and that is that the Eden mountain was on a plane of existence between the real world and orbit if that makes sense. I don’t know how to explain it but it would fit to some extent… I don’t know. Even that doesn’t feel right.
It’s really late so I will probably go to bed soon and just. Leave this general concept marinating in lorechat for a bit. I have noticed that whenever stuff like this gets brought up people will talk about it and think up new explanations and all as well as tying it into other theories for the next few days so hoping that happens naturally :} thank you all for trying to help me figure this out. I am equally confused
placing this idea into the shared lorechat brain cell and standing back as it just bounces around everyone’s heads and takes shape
shaking my hands wildly, i’ve actually been thinking about eden doing some weird plane stuff lately. I mean, the last eden area looks awfully like the beginning of ascension. perhaps we leave the physical plane and enter one closer to the light that also shows us what Eden was supposed to be?
Yeah that makes sense!! It would be cool if, before the darkness came, the world in general (esp Eden) was on a plane closer to the Light or something. Like the disaster made everything move down a few levels away from it, changing the world irrevocably… probably not canon but, maybe neat?
(Sorry about the mouth thing, it's just that it can be hard to concentrate on details in that image in-game so it was just kinda surprising that the king had a mouth)
Agreed. There's also the idea that the moutain or castle is named eden (I personally enjoy the idea that the moutain or the location where the light creatures would go to ascend was named eden, which then carried the name over to the storm when it emerged, before finally the name "eye of eden" looping back around to refer to the ascension-location after the original origin of the name was forgotten)
In universe sky entymology is something I haven’t seen before but is both very interesting and very confusing. My 3 current brain cells can’t decide what to make of it atm,
and don’t apologize for the mouth thing, I understand, was just kinda frustrated thst that’s what dominated the conversation for a bit :} is fine
Ok but ya guys clearly saw in the candle mural that there was already a place for the spirits before the stars fell though the question is what were the spirits living on because when the stars fell that was only the time the sky kingdom was built
Maybe they were in their true place, the actual afterlife where they were supposed to be? Or maybe they weren't spirits where they used to be, but became spirits when the stars fell?
Sorry about that, I'm still adjusting to being back
It could also be that "Eden" is the name of the city ontop of the mountain and the storm. In my native language, the word for "storm" is the name of a city that uses to be known as "that one city that got hit by a massive storm." I can see Eden being in the same case
I’m also adjusting to being back lol
are skykids left handed or right handed
Both
casting spell of left handed on skykids since im left handed
based off how skids hold the firework staff, right-handed or ambidextrous
The last line. "Bring our lost stars home."
We know the elders are the fallen stars in the intro from that lightseeker stream transcript.
But the elders aren't the only ones we save. Maybe ancestors are fallen stars as well ? They're even arranged in constellations with their elder.
That previous home could simply be the sky, among other stars (so Orbit)...
Perhaps the basegane ancestors were already spirits when they fell (back) down, hence why they got graves and all. Though some are seen in seasonal spirit cutscenes, so either not all of them fell back down at the same time (hence why Cheerful Spectator has a grave but not Twirling Champion or Mellow Musician), or the whole stars falling happened on such a short period of time an ancestor could reasonably meet a deceased friend before dying themselves.
(Theory is still a work in progress)
Eden (Hebrew: עֵדֶן), as a given name, has several derivations, from the Biblical Garden of Eden, meaning 'delight' (from Wikipedia)
Perhaps the name "Eden" is simply because the place used to be really nice ? Maybe it was holy even, since that's where light creatures (and perhaps ancestors) go to ascend.
Ok but I do wanna point out the very first intro mural has ancestors painted below the stars, maybe ancestors are either not stars, or stars meant to fall (and possibly ascend back up with experience to bring to the Light).
Maybe the elders falling was seen as disastrous because it was due to darkness ("but darkness came") when they were meant to stay up there and guide ancestors, and may have decided to live in the kingdom despite the ancestors/the Light asking them to go back to the Light/to it ("If only they had listened").
Maybe they taught ancestors things that caused the kingdom's downfall, such as darkstone (looking at Teth)...
Yeah that's the way I imagine it, too. I like to think the elders once were ancestors themselves but were chosen by Megabird/the Light to stay in Orbit and serve as guards to the ancestors (to guard them to Orbit at the end of their lives). Maybe after a while the elders decided to boycott the ancestors' endless cycle of dying and rebirth, since they had to endure that process themselves back when they were mortal, and stopped guiding the ancestors to Orbit and instead helped them built their own home in the clouds and equipped them with knowledge about darkstone to help the ancestors become independent of Megabird (and its Light).
I am not sure about the exact role of the Prince/King in this. Did he convince the elders to boycott Megabird? Where did he come from? What was his purpose before becoming corrupted? What motivated him to become corrupted?
Okay I've got a crazy thought: Is the King an analogy to Lucifer??
The king is as of today barely present in the game, litterally all we know that is canon about them is that they are the Eden Elder and existed.
No word on the king getting corrupted on purpose.
Sky gets inspired by many sources, mostly children's media but who knows !
Yeah true. I can't get that one complete storyline on Tom Zhao's website out of my head. It featured the corruption of the king
Yeah, it featured ideas that got scrapped I think.
aight fells, i've been wanting to learn the sky lore for a while, so where would i go to learn it?
here!
Well technically we’re still figure stuff out ourselves. But yeah stick around here and you learn some cool stuff
it’s very vague and all over the place and i’m pretty sure if you asked about something specific you might come out of it understanding slightly less but this is the best place to figure it out
i heard there's a lot to it and i wanna learn! can someone fill me with like the basics
Hm so that’s kinda hard sadly, because as others have mentioned it’s mostly really vague. It’s a bit easier if you ask about something in particular to get started, even if it’s a general topic.
Hmmmm okay, well I’m wondering kinda about gerbal things like what are sky kids and where did they come from, what is this world and why are there only spirits left and like who the heck is “the king” ??
ok i'll start with sky kids! gimme a bit to type stuff out and try to remember stuff haha
Okie, I’m in math rn and their strict on phones so I might not respond for A WHILE
Simple answer… Eden/hj
But in all seriousness. The king, is basically like a proto skykid or atleast an early skykid. I’m currently eating so I’m not in the best place to respond (and this stuff isn’t really where my theories thrive)
what exactly sky kids are made of is debated, but a common theory is that they're made of light with an earthen shell. i can't remember the exact wording from the intro but i think they were sent to "return our spirits to the stars"? probably by megabird, who is the deity of the sky world and only directly appears in the game at the end of the orbit credits in the form of a galaxy. this image compilation includes that as well as other references to them in-game, and concept art
Also the spirits died or atleast died out when Eden went boom. (Which I have a theory on why that happened) but we know some stuck around before eventually Poofing themselves
as for why there are only spirits left, there was a disaster that wrecked the world and is connected to eden as well as to darkstone. darkstone is that blue diamond-shaped stone that you light to activate mechanisms, and its production seems to have used light creatures. anyway yeah something went wrong with eden involving that giant red diamond (not sure exactly what but maybe the new season will shed some light, very excited for that but we shall have to wair and see!) that resulted in the destruction of the ancestors' civilization, perhaps immediately or perhaps (i like this version better personally) more slowly as the world stopped being habitable and the scattered survivors gradually died out. now they're all spirits (though there are probably many more spirits than those seen in-game), which seem to be able to interact with the world somewhat (days of bloom, granny, etc) but not as their living selves, and they have to ascend back to orbit eventually.
I’m gonna need some lore speculation about why there’s a sky kid statue in prairie. That makes no sense unless sky kids were around in those days. Maybe there were some.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
It was literally added in one update with no mention, no fanfare, and does nothing.
I get the sense that the Orbit we get to see is a construct, like Home, specially crafted by Megabird maybe, as a staging area where the sky kids physical forms can exist. I think if we really joined Megabird, we wouldn’t be Sky kids anymore, but more like streams of light like when we die in Eden, and like the spirit escort quests. My headcanon is that Sky kids can choose to not reincarnate, and to ascend further and join Megabird.
I think something similar to this might be the real canon too, because of the mechanic of our friends being represented as stars, and the spirits seeming to beam down also like from stars.
It seems to me that a poetically loose definition of a star as not only the physical definition but also the legendary definition of stars as ancestors, like that line in The Lion King, is part of the canon.
One piece of lore that’s supported a little by evidence other than our GUI, with those stone formations with white lines on the ground, is that the ancestors were interested in astrology.
Okay so I KINDAAAA get it
I just woke up but I am oooking at everyone’s messages with great interest and trying to shake my brain to get it to work again
The best advice I can give for learning more is to take note of interesting things you see around Sky and to hang around here for a bit. There’s as much if not more of us goofing off as actually discussing lore, but yk, still fun and one can tap out whenever one feels like it.
Good mooorniiinngggg
Sometimes the interesting things we see is game mechanics
Yeah, the endless question of whether a particular feature is lore or mechanic
Also for any new people. if you’re confused about something we’re talking about, just ask and we will do our best to explain what we know
I wonder if skykids were the stuff of legends in the ancestors’ time, like how humans wonder whether unicorns are real.
Yeah I second this, I remember when I was a lore moth and they were all super willing to explain stuff to me and didn’t make me feel stupid or anything :) this is a welcoming place, we don’t bite
Ye
Sounds good, thank you <333 I’m lookign forward to learning more
There’s a thought from old LA lore that the ancestors, at least some of them, knew skykids were coming
Ok so ummm coming back here after seeing the candle mural i didnt understand aything even though i already discussed this in the past lmao
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
If the link to the discord message doesn't work, it was about how both the boat spirit and non-seasonal questgiver could be at home at the same time so they seem to be different, though it could just be a gameplay mechanic rather than lore. This image was also attached:
GUYS is the old intro replaced with the candle mural in isle ???????? Or there are just double intros
What are we talking about right now?
Not much, other than murals maybe?
Ahhh, I wonder how skykids can view the outfits they’re wearing
Well there is a mirror in starlight dessert soo
True but like. Before the mirror. I find it funny if they like told their friends to wear the same outfit to see if it looks good
main reason I believe what I do is as coping. would consider that a game mechanic for that
reasons may be worth noting in the process of this. idk
I Don’t want them gone entirely so believing that the boat is another means of us seeing them is reassuring
praying that that’s not proven incorrect or something. it’s helping me to believe in that and I don’t want that taken away
anyway yeah only said that because I got pinged about it
I want to meet off season quest giver so bad
As far as I'm concerned, they're the one who deals with the statue. Like maintenance and changing the quests.
Put them back TGC. Let us hug them.
dw me too
disclaimer that I won’t be active after Performance
Let us hug them.
please feedback that
but yeah same headcanon poggers
I wrote to CS and there is hope
I like to think off season quest giver is the one who looks after the skids. (Mostly new skids, but that's a reason connected to a whole other can of worms.)
The skids setting up a bunch of tents and stuff in home to sleep, then helping off season quest giver make breakfast in the morning is cute
Off season quest giver teaching skids basic camping skills
tfw you’re more excited for merch wave because of them rather than the actual merch
that’s so cute. can’t wait to see them
I want you to be able to too though………………………..
The off season quest giver should be seeable, because they serve a practical purpose of 'the quests are this way' at a glance, but the sleepy merchant
Let switch players wave at the merchant. Give us literally anything. I don't care if they're just sitting there looking pretty, let us see them
wishlist it come on
I already wrote that 👁️
Seriously, learning there is actually a spirit that sits there at the shop boat made me feel so robbed.
YEAH?? LIKE
THE MASCOT TOO. I WANT SWITCH PEOPLE TO SEE THEM
I HEARD LEARNING ASTROLOGY AND CAME
I want you to meet them so badly. That is all
if I could make One thing magically happen
Like it's all apart of the fun and stuff. Like, phone players get a spirit selling stuff, but switch players just see an ominous boat. 'Some random boat showed up on the shore, but you can not just take things. You must obey the honor rule'
As far as switch players know it belongs to no one
is it worth writing feedback or will it get ignored
Me getting to see the boat merchant since I play Switch: 🥰
Ooooh, I just noticed the switch emote has little flying sky kids in place of the buttons
I'd totally buy custom sky switch joycons
they are the mascot of thatskyshop. they have been a qg for a very long time; they shouldn’t be forgotten and never known by some because of their device, okay???
Did quest giver go on vacation before or after switch release? Because I think it might just be the merchant we can't see
like. they’re making spirits so much more interactive. why not do it with
@tranquil harbor after. I think they’re the same person for coping reasons
manifesting them for an event. that’s all I want
. do you have any other headcanons about them that aren’t in a grieving sense
I legit don’t think it’s good for me to discuss it like this right now
have come to believe that the light awaits qg is sightseer’s parent - thus their grandparent
Mmm... Mostly just that they take care of the skids and the statue is tech that makes their job easier.
there has been an entire weird AU that has lived in my brain since Prophecy and one thing within it is an event management centre where they announce the TSes live
can I stop talking about this now
I don’t want it to make me upset
sorry but thank you
Of course
sorry
I miss them so so so badly
and I really want Switch people to meet them. overall more interaction too
Same here bud
do you think we’ll ever see them again.
may quit if it’s ever announced not
be honest
YES. GIVE US SHOPKEEPER LORE
i’m crying about them again idk what to do
sorry that this is happening Here
will we ever get that though
what am I supposed to do anymore
i’ll stop talking
We need to
all I want is for them to come back
sorry
Vol is getting pretty messed up about this, we should stop
can I pls have something to believe about this though
anything that would help but nothing that causes pining
I'm not sure what to give you tbh
this has legit ruined the game for me. if this never happened I’d be more optimistic about it as a whole
if anything official happens that basically calls them useless and worth ridding of in some way and seals the hypothetical fact they’re gone-gone and we just have to deal with it
likely gonna uninstall on the spot
anything that could help as coping, please. anything
I gave you all the happy I had, and that seemed to upset you in the end. Why don't you step back and breath for a bit?
yeah that’d be a good idea
will go make toast and a warm drink or something
the next time I’ll be here in this channel I won’t be like this, oki
has been a while since that happened at least. see you
Take care of yourself
anything like, positive questgiver stuff? or like another topic? respond when you can, enjoy your toast!! 😊

pls change topic for now
ye, looking forward to it,,
aLRIGHT OKAY SO since you were on sky since prophecy,, have you been to starlight memorial?
cause i don't remember it looking like this when i was there a while ago
p.s. there is still a lot I love about this game. ‘ruined’ is a strong word but this situation has definitely got rid of a chunk of my enjoyment (hoping to get that back tbh. it’s beginning to)
anyway uh. see you I shall have some lovely toast to calm down
I think it can change depending on if you watch the cutscene or not. It doesn't just change where the elders are
oh cool okay
There was a bug during Season of Abyss that turned the Starfield Memorial sunset into a deep blue sky. It’s since been fixed — there’s supposed to be a sunset
oOH
i think the first time i went was around abyss, maybe a little earlier
Wait what's the Starfield Memorial
Valley coliseum OOB
#questions-and-help is probably the place, but I’d say yeah any mentions of them are spoilers :)
||at edge of edden why we must go forword why don't we just die and why we give wings for the statues of dead children?||
Thanks 👍
I do kinda understand this idea but I have to ask how would spirit memories work then?? Especially with a lot of seasonal spirits being in the same locations (ie forgotten ark) instead of scattered around where they fell, it seems to imply that either the events creating spirit memories happened after they fell again (which I don’t think is true because they show them eating and being scared of death and all) or the stars fell EXACTLY where they died hmmm
It’s possibly out of respect, or the Skykid’s desire to help others.
No I mean like. Why are they in that specific area, how did they form, etc
elo I am bacc
how are we
It did change a bit.
The most notable change is the Starlight memorial's namesake has been removed.
In the past, you used to be able to stand on a platform and look at the stars just like in home, which would give you the name. But it has in recent updates been removed 😦
Why was it removed??
Abyss update changed some things with the game’s lighting and this area was no longer pinkish, only dark blue. Then they specifically changed this area to restore the old look. Does it look a little different? I think so too. But I’m glad they tried. It’s really nice that they responded to feedback about an OOB.
In one update the OOB was ruined when the sky would have this fog effect and did not show the distant building while in the coliseum (which is where the twilight sky trigger is).
After players begged for it to be fixed, the OOB was changed in another update to have this similar, but new lighting.
Damn... Why do the OOBs look so much better than the actual game aesthetically speaking (no offense to the devs the game looks beautiful)
Not just the Starfield memorial, there’s so much wonderful hidden places
Or maybe it’s so beautiful because we so rarely see it?
Here's a question: due to the specific way that skykids fly, if a skykid lost their arm, would they still be able to fly (or at least steer)?
Look, the old questgiver spirit probably does want to visit the skykids at home too, but someone needs to watch over the wasteland butterflies and the blue butterflies of valley. I've heard it can be exhausting to take care of one butterfly bunch, but two? I don't think they'd be able to babysit all the skykids as well!
that headcanon is so cute I'm
Most likely. Skykids do seem to control the edges of their capes similarly to their wrists for convenience, but since they’re two separate things, they’d probably be able to distinguish between the two with enough practice
Also, the emoji of the non-seasonal questgiver/boat merchant is called "spirit_friend"
YES
Theoretically, they may have trouble balancing (especially in trail of air with no cape to help compensate).
Though, most cases would lead to individuals adapting to their circumstances. Though ultimately, the severity of the disability may lead to more difficulties.
Losing a leg for instance would be a serious disability for a skykid's mobility. Even if they can fly, they would have to rely on it more than usual, that or use a prop like a staff to limp about.
reminds me of the thing I said about concept art
it often looks more appealing because it leaves more to be imagined, and it's unlimited while a lot of things need simplification for mechanical reasons
YEAH I would love to see more diversity in skykids, especially with disability and body types, but making all those different models is most likely not feasible ingame :[
Thus far, the most diversity we have are different shades of dark skin, cosmetic combinations, and heights
Guys, they can fly with a yellow scarf instead of a cape.
They tried the disabilities thing once, most people didn't like it though, me included. In hindsight, blindness wasn't really a good first disability to include in game.... /s
Genuinely, making it to the capes on my own like this felt harder than all four trials plus Eden!
Light is light, and that cape does aid in flight regardless of appearance.
If capes had flight stats, the game would have looked and felt a lot different.
Plus, it wasn't an opt in thing like a spell or outfit lol
I mean, ehhhh. Skykids also can sort of fly around without any body at all (likely just game mechanics tho), in Eden sacrifice as the blue light thing
I like to theorise hwo that sprite is a soul of the skykid.
possibly canonising skykids being either related to the ancestors (via spirits), or skykids develop a soul that is sikilar to the ancestor spirits.
The difference lies in of the spirrit has been thrre since the start, or they grow/develop one as they grow.
Hi, I'm a random theorist, here to help! First of all, you forgot that we, skids, are stars, same goes for the ancestors and elders. And as the name suggests: ancestors are also named spirits, and elders - elder SPIRIT. So I'm guessing that at the star's death, it becomes a spirit, and for that certain star's body to come back in spirit form, it's memories must be relived, as shown that when you summon a spirit via constellation, it's a small ball of blue/golden light depending whether you ascended that spirit or not, and then they form into their body. And for us to have retrieved our light/memory to get our body back, we had to hug a light skid, also known as the king in the game's files, and then we ascended. For the elders, I have exactly NO idea how they were able to get their body back in spirit form tbh, but I'm guessing that by meditating at the elder's altar, they retrieve both their body and memories, as the beginning of their cutscene could be a memory of theirs playing before the interaction starts
Again, it's a theory, but I am pretty sure that's how it works
Yeah, I like that a lot! Welcome to lorechat, you have a lot to learn
it has been said that elders and skykids are different species, so maybe that could explain the oddness of the former with regards to memories and bodies
It's a pretty glaring hole in that theory yeah ! That's why I separated basegame spirits and seasonal spirits, as the former got graves unlike the latter.
Graveless spirits may have never been found.
Some memories are just the spirit wandering without doing anything special, I like Alasdair's idea that it's them walking around an area with a feeling something important happened here without precisely knowing what... For example, Crab Whisperer could have been looking around a shipwreck, retracing the steps they once took to help survivors.
So far I like to think whatever happened in Eden threw the rebirth cycle out of wack; like mantas and other light creatures, ancestors were meant to ascend, die and be reborn anew, but the cataclysm (and possibly the Dawn elder growing old, weak or dying) may have sent souls that weren't meant to be reborn yet down (=> living ancestors seeing spirits), and possibly ascended ancestors and light creatures that were not meant to die yet (hence Eden's peculiarly fractured look and lack of spirits).
Is there any lore on colored light written down that i could refer to for Something I’m Working On
Suppose it goes back to my thought that spirit memories are either imprints like winged light or the light shed from weakening ancestor spirits, hence the forgetting
Also! Fun fact on this. A while Earlier during Beta testing the Starlight Memorial constellation turned into Enchantment’s constellation. You couldn’t buy anything but that was. Weird
I’m sorry I cannot read [plants face in desk] but YEAH I think I get what you mean. The spirit souls do look a lot like stars hmmmm… I am unfortunately not very smart today and it is very hard to understand things but this is a really neat idea. Like, the stars falling doesn’t have to mean actual stars, it could be the spirit’s souls… thank you so much!! Placing this into my currently very empty skull
Oh I hope it was just a bug (referring to the Enchantment constellation)
What specifically do you need? Like how they work (we have that), where they came from (we only have speculation there), etc
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS. So we know from tutorial texts and from just going through Eden that both the elders and Eden are linked to helping souls ascend right? Unfortunately both of those got wrecked to some degree in the disaster. It’s pretty much common knowledge in this channel at this point that at the very least spirits would get kinda stuck and wouldn’t be able to ascend after that, I don’t think I have to explain it. It’s a really neat idea that it messed up even more than that… 👀 I am Thinking…
And side other note. Since Eden and the elders serve a similar soul related function I wonder if they’re linked somehow. Like one goes kablooey and the other is severely weakened type thing
Specifically more about how they work, cus like their function is a little unclear tbh (or er how they function)
I mean for the last bit I think we know that the elders atleast did something with the Eden elder and how it was chosen. It would make sense for like the formation of maybe the eden diamond to have like some essence of the elders within it. Some more so than others
Sorry if this made no sense my brain is not functioning properly
My headcanon is that the eden diamond is the prison that which holds the king, and it threatens to shatter. basically us sky kids have to stop it from breaking with the WLs
Oh ok! We aren’t given a super concrete explanation in Enchantment beyond what they do generally, but I’ve been trying to pin down the exact details, and here’s my closest educated guesses.
Red - darkness
Exact function: most likely the opposite of purple; obscures things from view. Users can choose to make certain things invisible to the naked eye and non existent. They can likely reverse this and make things that darkness previously claimed visible again (as seen in the red light enchantment cutscene.)
Evidence: used to make murals that previously existed visible again, goes to places linked heavily with darkness, and when pulling a lever marked with the red light symbol in the village theater, smoke rises - a possible reference to the whole obscuring function. Symbol resembles the way clouds are drawn in murals; clouds’ primary ingame function is to obscure parts of the land that we cannot see. Speculated to be linked to Isle via process of elimination, but not confirmed.
Orange - fire
Exact function: most likely spawns fire; at the very least has something to do with it.
Evidence: prophecy murals show it causing fires and being placed in what are likely turrets to make them glow with light. Usually goes to forest, possibly because there’s so much wood there to burn; unsure. The lion mask over fire trial glows with this color. Fire and the color orange are also heavily linked in concept arts. summons light creatures in ench cutscene
[yellow is basically a general light color so it is getting skipped]
[from here on I am adding less substance to the explanations as I am very tired, let me know if you need more explanations and I will Try]
Cyan - air
exact functions: guides and/or makes wind gusts. shown in prophecy murals to make stuff float, glows in the bat mask over trial of air & is shown to have some connection with bells in sanc guide cutscenes (maybe using the wind to make them chime). makes the forgotten ark oars start moving again in the ench cutscene
Blue - water
exact function: either purifying or summoning water. shown to be involved with the forest rain in a prophecy mural (although whether it is purifying it of darkness or summoning it is unclear], turtle mask glows with it, & it purifies the forgotten ark water in the cutscene & is shown to serve a similar purpose in indifferent alchemist spirit memory
purple - ?? Not sure what to call this one
exact functions: manifests things into reality. creates the tents in the enchantment cutscene, and by process of elimination is implied to be linked with vault although this is uncomfirmed. this one is kinda hard to explain but imagine it like the Minecraft commands that allow you to spawn things.
sorry for the essay I have a Disease

because i learned the truth about skybot
you see, skybot and the dev-caped kid are one and the same.
What dark secrets were revealed through it's maddening cries?
the place the prince hides is one where adults die inside
every once in a while, he ventures out, begging for the companionship of the skykids, but alas, he is to scared and closes the link soon after...
sure, some skykids may buy the right to stop by and say hi. but even then, when waving to his friends, he still hides himself inside. He doth not shed a tear when a skykid is nearby, "for they cannot know the truth" he thinks willing the tears to not pour out "they would hate me if they found proof..."
eventually, he sought companionship with the gods, but the deities had abandoned him...
what was he to do, asides from reach out to story-writers, as a villain they had branded him...
but he found friends in them, for they did not know their stories would become so real
i just said hi to skybot and they wwre nice to me

Thank ye mr.gay, it is much appreciated
insidious indeed. You surely must have a stronger will than I to be able to brandish such terrible cries. Most unfortunate that prince must be, for all who know of this shall never be free-
Oh I cannot believe this I have been bamboozled
Tried that once, it brought up a list with no instructions on how to proceed
the prince hid inside the office for years, eventually his tears of blue stained the skies and even his own cape too, he found the devices covering the floor, turned one on and booted up discord.

half of the spirits in Sky would discover Minecraft and absolutely lose it. I think talented builder for one would boot it up one day and never stop playing.
I remember someone mentioning Scarecrow just using it as a farming sim
For the seventh elder, a prince whose name doth not include "petit", became the dev-caped kid and @pastel brook in an effort to hide and still be seen...

Especially soon-to-be dead people
welp, got that out of my system. I made that theory thing awhile back specifically to almost fit with the world of sky while also being 100% already disproven (the office isnt canon)
each of the cows have name tags on them with a super unique name. one day a death message showed up because one of them died and flight guide enters beast mode
none of this would have happened if forest elder was allowed to play Minecraft and got all the darkstone stuff out of their system with red stone
WAIT are the spirits using bedrock or Java?

i would gift scarecrow stardew valley on every platform possible and see what they do
from what i know of how skykids interact with krill, they'd probably try to hug the creepers and have staring contests with endermen (they actually dont move if you dont look away, of course this is also very finnicky)
I think the flight spirits would have an absurd amount of tamed wolves each, and forget about how many they have until they hit something, mob or another player on accident.

Who’s the sweat in bed wars?
Also playfighting herbalist would definitely make suspicious stew but not tell anyone which effect it has
Someone lies to flight guide and tells them that you kill mantas to get elytras, and from then on flight guide hunts down and kills anyone using them despite people telling them it’s false
.... the sleepy shipwright? i mean, they are the only ones ever shown using a bed. sure, other spirits have beds, but we dont see them use it!
Wait who would eat a pufferfish in game if someone told them it’d give them something cool
Flight guide and Light Whisperer would try to tame phantoms

Lush caves!
I think i can definitely see that. They’re very… cozy as long as they’re not too dark
What would the light seekers do?
Place wayyyyy too many torches.
Except Crab Whisperer, they’re doing a live exclusively in the Nether challenge

I can only imagine mining with a lightseeker

That is an interesting assessment.
However, I digress from skykids being stars, at least being only stars.
The game has changed throughout the updates, and with it, the lore has as well since the days of Light Awaits.
In regards to the Children of Light, the game has once called these figures Stars. However, the name was later on changed ti Winged Light.
While the name has changed, sometime the former names and its relevant lore mah still apply. This has been the case for the introduction cutscene/murals for the game as well as the memory of the ushering stagazer.
Skykids is, and always has been, implied to be a hybrid when compared to the ancestors and elders.
In Light Awaits, they were called descendants. Be that they were the living descendants of the ancestors, or elders, would be unclear though made apparent seeing that a skykid is unique.
The game tends to use colours for its symbolism. For instance, Yellow/white symbolises Light and its purity, it being holy in the world of Sky. Blue represents the Ancestors, particularly their spirit form. Red represents the corrupted and twisted version of the Light, which is most apparent in Eden, where the source of the corrupted darkness resides. Lastly, black symbolises death, while being the opposite of the light (which is similar to the corruption) it may also theoretically be the natural version of Darkness (almost like the ying and yang being black and white).
I stand by my theory of skykids having souls. As this is based on a few details that can be seen in the game as well as in concept art.
Like spirits, skykids can call on their friends in the constellations, who descend in a similar animation, which includes the blue sprite. The blue colour sometimes appear when the skykids flies (a blue light flashes, indicating them consuming energy to rise). This may not be because of the cape, as the cape itself emits white light, has a yellow flight bar, and may briefly flash red when exposed to corrupting darkness.
A final note, when reliving the final quest of the Little Prince in Eden. We see the child be turned to stone. This helps confirm that creatures with a soul would die and become stone there. For skykids, they only turn to stone when they no longer have the light in their cape to protect them. A skykid's soul is very fragile, as when they lose all of their light outside of Eden, they too would shortly die and shatter.
The lore may be open to interpretation, so I welcome folks to present their own interpretations. When it comes to finding the canon lore though, I may not forget where the facts lie.
I scroll up and see spirits playing Minecraft
but anyway. this soul theory is interesting 👁️

Good video, though you may want to spoiler tag it.
The ending contains beta content that is not yet released to the live game.
Kudos for the lovely editing skills though.
Uhhh elo, I wish to confirm something thats been bugging me over the course of delving into sky lore:
I am aware that there was an intro where it said that the spirits were stars that fell and created a home in the clouds
But then this was changed, with the new intro never stating that they fell, rather they have always been spirits, and only when darkness came did the stars fall and their light fading along with them.. Im asking for clarification whether ancestor spirits are still considered fallen stars or not TvT
The elders were the ones that fell as stars in the old intro. The new intro seemingly retells the story from the ancestor's perspective.
It has been mentioned that the old intro may still be applicable, though the new one gives more insight (such as the ancestors' side of the story)
The star themselves could possibly be the winged light we see in the realms (as they were called stars in the past), the stars could possibly be the spirits of the ancestors, which is reminiscent to the real life mythos of the ancestors becoming stars and watching down on the living descendants in the world. The stars could be the elders or even skykids as well.
The stars could possibly be any one of these possibilities, or something else entirely.
There is plenty of debate over this topic, though not much in game lore to help confirm, or rule out, any of these factors.
Hmm
Theres one thing regarding elders that weve noticed in the prophecy murals
Idk if this is a correct train of thought but in the prophecy murals the elders were there, but they werent different from normal spirits (clothing and size were similar to normal spirits in murals) its only when theyve been bestowed the power of the elements that they have started to change (both in size and appearance, especially evident in the last prophecy mural)
Ah, the murals is an interesting topic. 🙂
Murals in Sky are extremely important to the lore, as they have helped confirm a few theories, as well as still being vague enough to be discussed and analysed. The size of the elders and their designs are what sets them apart from ancestors in the murals.
The season of Prophecy was nicknamed to be a lore based season for a good reason. As the cave is a place with the most elders in the same collection of murals.
Other places that contain elders in their murals include the memory of the pointing candlemaker, the refusing voyager and the water mural found in the secret area in Vault, which ||surrounds a small island with the portal to the Office||.
Mm mm I am aware ||that smile scares me|| but are the details stated in my previous message smth to be taken note of or brushed off? Ive only talked about these in private groups or with people and never really in broader community..
Regarding the other murals ive seen pointing candlemakers and rejecting voyagers, ||as for the murals in the water at office portal I may be blind I didnt see elders there 💀||
The elders seem to have existed before the events of the season Prophecy. This can be deduced by the fact that the elders have already established their kingdoms by the time the elements were bestowed to them.
I may be wrong though, as it may be possible that the elements may have helped the elders gain more power, though the elements were given to them during the time they were among the ancestors and building their kingdoms.
Your observation of how the elders differ from the ancestors is noteworthy.
This discussion channel welcomes lore enthusiasts to share and chat about the lore. Since there will always be new members joining and wanted to learn about the lore, there will be times were past season's lore would be brought up and revisited as many times as need be.
Here is the image of the mural hidden under the island in the secret are in Vault.
It depicts 2 figures, 1 being an elder like figure and the other being the Megabird (or bird of Light). Both are seemingly orbiting each other and may either symbolise the cycle of life and death in Sky, or possibly the balance between light and darkness (life and death) in Sky.
Mm mm, noted and thank you for the image 👀
May I send a friend request? ||Take me in as your student, just kidding ^^||
Thank you for taking your time to reply ^^
you can 😄
Hi Lore chat, a little tidbit I noticed which I'm not sure is intentional or not
Stranger Skykids in game appear dark to us until we light them up.
After pnr and during ascent, we see glowing people flying with us into Orbit. They are the ones we sacrificed our winged lights for.
It further strengthens the connection between Skykids and the "fallen," I think. There's also the duality of light and dark at play here…
…Or it might just be coincidence.
Side question, which I may bring up again later when other users are active and discussing seasons.
What if the seasons follow a plot line similar to the realms' history?
As in, each season starts out slow and empty like Dawn, which holds potential and excitement for where the story would be heading.
Then the plot gains momentum, with the story building up to the apex of the plot.
Then the climax hits and the character suffers a set back.
The falling action brings the story down into what looks like a bad ending, then the skykids that were helping along the way makes things right, and the story ends on a high note.
When I have time, I should look at what the seasons' plots were like and see if they share this narrative structure.
Since the seasons expand on the lore of the main game, perhaps TGC had went as far as making sure the season's plots would echo that of may have happened in the main game.
Like echoes, or pieces of a bigger picture we can piece together; as long as we know where to look and see where the pieces line up.
Seasons plot as in related to their quests? Or do you also include the memories of each spirit in the season?
Yes.
Since season of Enchantment, skykids are able to relive the quests of the season.
They are also able to follow along the story each season had to tell.
Come to think of it, perhaps that could be the reason why the season guides do not leave the sky world.
While their fellow spirits have finished telling their story, the guide stays behind to continue telling theirs to the skykids.
True it may indeed be the case
But then as of now spirits from season of performance stay within harmony hall 🤔 hmmm
The final cutscene of the season shows them ascending. We also see them on the way to Orbit.
The reason why we see the spirits in the realms has some history to it, though it is more so in regards to replayability of the game. Allow me to explain
In the past, season spirits used to disappear after a season ended. This made these spirits unavailable to all players joining after a particular season and prevents them from getting the emotes.
These spirits used to only become available afterwards as Traveling spirits, allowing players to have the emotes and cosmetics.
Many players had issues with this, as older players would have the emote and newer players would not be able to have them by no fault of their own, as they joined later on.
One day, an update was released that allowed players to have access to all of the season spirits (provided they progressed to the Valley of Triumph at least), though the cosmetics would still be part of the traveling spirit system.
One can say the reason why these spirit stay behind is similar to why the non-season spirits stay as well.
They have ascended, though they are still able to stay in the Sky world and help the skykids.
It could be because the skykids are friends with the spirits. The spirits are possibly not willing to truly pass on just yet. Or, Orbit is not truly the spirit's afterlife, though possibly a place where the spirits can rest and wait for the right time.
Ill take note of this
As for the ascending climax and descending narrative
Yes they start empty, as we literally rebuild or revitalize an area as we complete each seasons quests (ever since enchantment, the only exception to this is little prince as no new additions appear in the area after we complete the quests) as for climax then descending, hmm other than flight and abyss (flight where darkness infests the windpaths, and abyss with cackling cannoneer going to the depths and we meet the megakrill) the rest of the seasons dont have a tension in them, theyre pretty "soft" along the way
^^
The little prince starts in the desert and meeting the prince, making the beginning of the friendship with the little prince the starting point.
Mmhmm but we dont start "empty" persay, but tru in a narrative perspective there is ascending, climax, and descending narrative template
I also wanna point out someting i noticed every time we finish the quests it always said you fulfilled a wish of this ancestor spirit ,i always thought they died before doing their last wishes like saving cannoneer ,achieveing your dreams, fixing the bells in sanctuary etc and like you said why did the spirits stay behind i think they probably had something to do in the sky world but never managed to do it also i think ts is jus tgame mechanic
I have a few questions about seasons so everyone fell free to answer, what makes season guides season guides I mean have megabird fav spirits?/jjk and what are season quest? Some memories about the season guide or are just dreams that they could make when they were alive? If we do that we change the past? And with this I mean we save cannoneer so? So may questions xd
hmmm...
I used to think it is the guide. Would it perhaps have meant to refer to the spirit involved in the quest, I wonder? 🤔
It is the spirit that hosts the quests and is involved with each spirit.
Though I am not sure, lorewise, what made the spirit the guide other than possibly being the leader of the group.
in abyss it seems like commodore was the leader tho (given that they told other spirits stuff in the quest cutscenes), but they weren't the guide
Yeah abyss is what got me thinking cuz the season guide doesn’t seems like the leader
Plus also dreams have a very different season guide
I also think its the guide but i also think all the spirits wanted the same thing
What if dreams season guide was a twin of sparkler mom
I have seen the theory that since the elders in valley are twins that makes there are more twins in the realm and I totally believe that and think this and yes they are twins
Wait i made that as a joke-
But yeah you can have your theories
what if the crystal in the eye was originally supposed to yeet up spirits back to their original home
Yeah i think that is the purpose of it cuz i think its an ascension beam
and not like, kill and die but just, shoot em up,, and then obvi the storm messed it up and made it a death zone so lol good just getting there
but like what if the beam didn't get all the way there, and orbit is just the place it stopped/let them get to. the lil structures are what they built(?) cause orbit was originally supposed to be a midpoint
(what if) the use of dark crystals was to make the beam more powerful but it triggered the storm
sORRY IF SOMEONE ALREAdy mentioned that,, i started reading the beginning of the whole convo but theres a significant chunk that i definitely missed
I like the idea that Orbit isn’t a permanent place. Maybe spirits can stay on the earth given they have enough light, which could be why the Abyss crew was searching for power diamonds
So these two objects look to be powered by those power diamond things yeah? But aren't those things something we have to power on (biggest example: doors)? The only other thing that doesn't need our direct assistance to start up are the boats that lead to enchantment and abyss area. So it makes me wonder: how come these objects don't need our assistance to start up, but things like doors and those glitchy boat things in dreams village do?
There is a treehouse in Forest brook showing dark stones were removed from gate switches.
These kids could in theory have figured out how to use the power diamonds to power their items.
Though either they only knew how to make them float, or did not know how else to use them.
The "Assembly kids steal things" theory grows stronger.
Like kids that would take shopping carts and make them into skateboards or go karts XD
Assembly kids are not following the Lightseeker code, that’s for sure
assembly kids steal the lightseeker code of conduct for themselves.gif
earlier, in genchat
Ty for moving here btw its a lot less fast paced
npnp anyways, if the clay vessels were a thing, yes they would melt in water but here’s another thing: ||what about the stony blizzard in eden||
if it was wax, possibly, they can break on impact (too much impact for the matter) but since wax cant dissolve in water, it might be another theory: the skykids are empty shells with light (soul) inside
I guess it could be a clay analog type material?? Tbh ive never looked into this specific part of sky lore so
when you say analog, do you mean robot models? if so i’m not sure how they would fit, keep in mind that the skykids loose their appearances when they get krilled and when they lose their light
so it could be empty vessels (maybe like a robot) but the light gives then soul and gives them their personalities and apperances
Nono, analog as in like… a similar material to clay thats not the same (SANS?????)
following on this tangent, when the darkness takes their light away, it’s taking away their sense of “self” and maybe it could be despair in a sense as they lose their looks and they lose the ability to fly
But yeah i’m assuming Skykids soul is completely seperate from their bodies so when skykids lose all their light those two things fall apart
yes, so which comes back to the main topic: what are the skykids bodies made of, how does the world’s physics apply, how are the shells built and how heavy are they
I think that delves into some math I don’t have the brainpower for
backed clay may be able to take to water. Especially with knowing skykids keep a flame wihtin themselves.
same here, but estimates will suffice. backread to one of my screenshotted messages, i made some guesses
that’s a good point, there is waterproof clay. and clay and wax can be delicate, but somehow wax doesn’t break that easily unless it’s a thin coating (like a thin layer of wax as a shell) then maybe. its not seen if the shells break when exposed to darkness so maybe its tough enough to sustain that pressure. another theory is that they are made of celestial material.
its seen in the ushering stargazer’s memories that they found a skykid who fell from a shooting star, so that memory rules in another possibility.
edited since not many have seen that spirits memories
unspoilered since it was in a performance quest, my apologies
I feel like wax in air is like oil in water. If you hit it itd just split up into smaller things and coalesce into one again after a bit
Well, my theory is that the kids are essentially kilns, as they keep candles inside of them to keep themselves warm and being able to withstand water, BUT my theory is the hidden forest has acidic water, and acidic water breaks down stone and clay material slowly
The oil in GW is corrupted water or it could be the same as acidic water
Wax is basically just pure light so i think its a clay-analog shell that contains light on the inside
Fun fact, that interaction has been referenced in the Performance quest 🙂
that’s a good point. the ||meteor shower in eden|| could be some sort of physical attack so if it was chemically corrupted, it could steal someone’s light. another idea, what if you shot a skykid’s light, would they die?
Also yes. Also skykids don’t breathe but they need air to fuel their flame, which is probably why they can Drown in purer waters
I think the wax keeps their candles from running out of wax, which is why in the hidden forest, wax replenishes your light when you're in the rain
This is like. Madoka magica core. And prrrooooooobably? I hadn’t thought abt that extensively but if they loose their core (which probably = soul) then they’re just the vessel and light i guess so yes
related to that topic, are the candles the skykids hold related to their life energy? and if we broke them somehow would we be essentially killing them?
I think so because when their flame goes out, they can't light beacons or torches and need wax or some other light to rekindle
Idrk on that one
yeah, that was taken inspiration from madoka magica and it kinda makes sense? skykids die when they lose their light, so that is another possibility that the light in skykids is similar to soul gems. or if the candle break=death theory is true, it could mean that the candles are the soul gems themselves and if both theories are not confirmed to be true or false, it’s a chance that if either breaks=a skykid’s death, assuming we go by the same logic of soul gems.
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA
in pmmm, a magical girl’s life is dependent on her soul gem, so if it was similar in sky: two possibilities.
- the light is the soul gem. shoot it, you kill a skykid. its because the light is connected to the skykid. the physical body remains but no soul is inhabiting it so death.
- the candle is the soul gem. break it, you kill a skykid. if the candle is a certain distance from the skykid, the soul might “disconnect” (like a bluetooth device) and death.
RIKKA YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU CAUSED
Oh no
oh no what did i do are the elders gonna scold me now ;w;
We can calculate weight, but remember that weight is mass that’s affected by gravity. We need to figure out the gravity of the Sky world!!
Nooooooooo!
Bad lore, bad lore!
That is terrible!
good point, we need to find the mass first but how do we do that
Oh dear lord. Sounds like a question for the engineering focused devs honestly
I was joking.
Context: a few months ago, we tried to find out the gravity of the Sky world. It was a wild ride and I thought I found it, but I accidentally pinged someone who then refuted my claim
but thats a good point tho ngl. if we don’t have the mass, we can’t determine the weight, and even so, we don’t know how gravity works in Sky.
ALSO on this I think its either possible the core contains the soul or is the soul. So if the skykids core breaks does their soul just fly about and drift off?
no, it is destroyed. it’s like killing someone’s soul and leaving an empty vessel behind.
Also i’m assuming most injuries can be renewed in eye of eden considering we literally rip our winged lights out of the core like… 60 times?????
ok i’m not sure about that, maybe winged light acts as a shield to protect the soul
Also that blue light(soul) that leaves our body when we lose all our Light and the vessel gets left behind
maybe the vessel moves on autopilot? like a zombie? a soulless zombie for the matter
As long as skykids have their light, the eye of eden cannot turn them into stone. It is only after losing their last WL, the light from the giant crystal shines bright and the skykid turns into stone.
Note, the Little Prince ||had a similar fate the moment they were in line of sight of the Crystal and promptly turned into stone.|| (final quest spoilers)
I think it stays there, and waits for the next Skykid to come and restore its light to it. Only then can it move with the soul as I understand it
considering the prince only has one cape charge, he has barely any protection against eden (havent played the last quest yet but i have an idea of what will happen but it will still be super sad when i actually play it) so it makes sense that he immediately died.
Ergo, the statues had to be skykids, (can't believe I had to agree with that) as there is seemingly no other way for them to get that far out without some from of protection, such as winged light.
Because that’s probably what we’re giving our Light to in the first place. It’s a cycle alright
Oh dear, my apologies.
I shall spoiler tag it.
here’s proof that the prince only has 1 wl or smth idkidk
The crystal is medusa
I think that might be the spirit winged light bug. Spirits didn’t have any cape stars until a recent update. And i think(?) Its a bug…
The star marker appeared on most spirits in a recent update, long after the season of the little prince.
It is unclear what this means for the spirits.
i see, so maybe that piece of evidence i found can’t be reliable, but it’s still a thought to follow on anyways
but still if that was true, the prince just explored sky with one cape charge and somehow ended up in the desert, which brings me to another tlp theory, what if the prince is just repeating a cycle of life and death and he would never be able to see his rose again?
More like, it is a recent development that has yet been explained by the devs (that I know of).
The Little Prince you see there is an echo version of the original character when the season was active.
Supposedly due to copyright reasons, the little prince had to be changed in the game when the season ended.
I think he has no light to protect himself at all. But i also think because he has no light whatever’s controlling the rocks (assuming SOMEONE or SOMETHING is hurling them at you, based on old concept art which is. Weird) doesn’t recognize him as a foe until he’s in the line of sight of the diamond…? Idk thats kinda Out There but like… hmm
logic might be: i see light, i kill light, light is bad, darkness is good
Something like that. And the little prince is completely independent of that because he’s just. Neither
SO WHY DID HE DIE IN THE FIRST PLACE???
I guess it could also just be a passive drain of life or something. Its Very Confusing honestly
Also its like. Really cold there probably
||Just a guess, because he’s more or less human he died by human causes. That doesn’t really explain how he turned to stone though ||
I have made that this back when the season was active.
Game mechanic wise, the little prince is like a skykid whereas players can hold their hands, they were a similar size and had similar animations.
However, as far as the lore is concerned, the Little Prince is/was a living human child.
I am saying was in the sense that the season has no passed and the actual little prince is technically no longer in the game. But to ensure the season can be relived by those that joined after the season, the spirit/memory/echo version of the little prince was added.
yeah imma leave it at that, it’s 11 pm and i have school tomorrow so imma sneep snorp now-good night this was fun
||The little prince froze to death 😍||
eyo, it has been 15 days since a certain Sky bot plagued the server with "not that deep" lore jokes.
TLP as a season is debatably canon but im pretty sure any actual crossover characters like the little prince are 100% noncanon
also this is just a glitch 😔
if i had to guess it’s specifically something to do with capes not being able to show up with 0 stars anymore so everything defaults to 1 star
Devastated devastated I missed the minecraft chat devastated
ikr
we can always start it again…..

Ok but thats not lore
It is if you’re brave enough. & we can talk about other things than lore too
OO stagehand would love the multicoloured sheep
Ok but as far as i can remember the lore chat was pretty strict about it being purely lore ,we can still discuss other topics but only for a short time ,well i havent been here for a while alot has changed
We aren’t as strict anymore. Headcanons & jokes are fine. A lore chat that is super strict about only talking about serious lore ever doesn’t sound fun to be a part of at all; I like the casual atmosphere a lot better. Besides, it can help flesh out spirit personalities & all.
When were you last here btw?
Ummm like i think 2020 and i left in 2021 and came back again last friday
who would go hngnrhgnd soup and then die in lava
Hold on I think someone said that awhile ago I’ll look for it!
Honestly Eden is also full of hazards thwt would kill a human too. You can find his shell in pnr, dude probably just got whacked really hard with a rock or something

who else do you think would and as who and with what vehicles
I don’t know much about mariokart but Dream guide doesnt play very well but likes princess peach
Wasteland elder would probably play hardcore RLcraft
and vault elder would definitely hoard bookshelves
still wondering what peeking postman’s old career was, I rmb Ash said they once had another career which was reflected on their costume design🤔
But cant see much from today’s hints
The facepalm spirit, Baffled Botanist would play Princess in Mario Kart 64 and destroy

skater-turned-postman then?
wait.
hermit apparently was an axe juggler I hear
postman is either what I said or is both
We know animal masks can only be earned once spirits become professional in certain area like bird masks are performing arts related.
But we still dont know if postman got their rabbit mask from being a postman, or from their old career🤔
spinning mentor ts hints said mentor was the secret author of a famous historical fictions series.
#general-sky-discussion message wow holy smokes

“When we designed their pants/outfit, we mixed both ice skating uniforms and another type of uniform that related to their past career to create their look”
It was skater uniform+another type of uniform🤔
I had a head cannon of wind band/ brass band uniform
tho that should lead to bird masks
omg thats me
This is my guess for the “another type of uniform” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peking_opera
postman is the only person legally allowed to play mario kart

It’s said the cape was inspired by journey. Maybe they’re introducing lore from an older game?
i don’t think any of TGC’s other games are related to sky cotl, especially not lorewise
thatgamecompany cinematic universe
Sky has been said to be the spiritual successor to Journey
Heya lore chat I have a question. Does anyone know what the weird dark mould/spores are that cling to crabs and seem to fall from krills? They seem to make the crabs aggressive and I assume are tied to the dark plants?
I think they're corruption
I call them darkness flakes, really just bits of pure darkness
Ahhh ye that’s the vibe I got from em
lunch
nom nom
Personally thinking that although not a sequel to journey some concepts and ideas have been passed on or recycled to sky (looking at you krill equivalent to war machine in journey)
To be honest sky is basically an almost carbon copy of journey, just with added content and different designs
Hey haven’t seen you here in a while, now get lost
Bot is back!! Hello
Prolly wax when it runs out of energy.
We see it in the forest cave when the people starve to death. It’s also at the two manta that are too cold. It also falls off of the player whenever they stand in poison water.
Plus when we burn the plants, it turns back into the glowing light-filled wax that we’re used to. So if light creatures are made of wax, dark plants could be the remains of starving light creatures
is it a bird?... is it a manta?... no, it's a krill! RUN!!!!
Just went to Eden and I kinda realize that this castle is actually the same as the castle seen in the cutscene every time you enter Isle 🤔
Idk

I wholeheartedly believe that the capes of skids can move on their own, BUT it requires a lot of skill and practice
Quite good, Yeti is awesome all the time

seems legit
I suppose its been some time, and in honor of them returning: Equestrian outfits were part of the inspiration behind creating Postmans uniform outfit! 🏇
OHHH THATS SO COOL
i imagine the sky equivalent would be manta riding or whatever the switch trailer creature was !
yeah! their quest ties into that history of theirs, though they use their mail sled now
horses are a cryptid myth in the sky world
/j (or am i?!?!?!?!?)
Peeking into this channel and expecting chaos. This was unexpected
sky horses are forbidden bc horses are a pain to draw </3
vault scholars have passionate debates over the existence of horses
thinking abt it, sky seahorses would be rlly cute
instead of UFO's its UEO (Unidentified Equus Object)
Didn’t think the deep lore would be horses not existing in the Sky world but here we are
Showing a sky spirit horse plinko to see what happens. Also hello ash :}
Its like showing a Victorian child a video from today
Cosmic horror novel in the sky universe about a spirit who is kidnapped and shown horse plinko
Pfft
Spirit: “What are you showing me?! Is this a being of unimaginable power?! Gahhhhhh!!!”
The plinko is a being of unimaginable power
The real secret is that horses aren’t real in our world either. Wake up
I thought birds weren’t real
Horeses and birds are both paradoxes
I have no idea if I’m using that world correctly
Dark water is ALCOHOL? Or does it have effects like alcohol? Or is there different kinds of dark water?
Probably the effects of alcohol, I feel like being around darkness plants also makes you drowsy
Has anybody found out the "past" that Yeti and Postman had? I don't know where I read it but I heard that the axes in Yeti's cave had something to do with Postman
Honestly, it would be worse than alcohol for us
Maybe it's like that for ancestors, but for us, it's worse because standing in it is one thing, pouring it into your innards is another :)
Miscellaneous Skykid Headcanon number whatever: skykids dont experience Uncanny Valley
Ah I see. Also, why does the spirits of Starlight Desert have chains around their bodies?
Representing them being trapped by their vices
living ancestors were beings of light. dark water takes light. while it may not be alcohol, I'd imagine dark water cause similar effects because it was taking the ancestors' light. they're both harmful substances people drink anyways
I want to see a sky lore iceberg with horses on it so bad now
I don't think you necessarily have to be a being of light in order to feel the effects of dark water. Crabs are neither light creatures nor dark creatures but they were still corrupted by dark water. I also believe Ancestors are not beings of light because I remember a concept art showing that Sky Kids are a hybrid of Light (mantas, birds, butterflies, etc) and the lack thereof (Ancestors, possibly Elders too). If Ancestors were beings of light, Sky Kids wouldn't really be a "hybrid" since they would end up being creatures of Light mixed with more Light
But anyways, it's concept art so take the second half of my claim with a grain of salt
I like the skids connection with the animals of sky. It really does seem like the kids may be actively communicating with the animals at times. It kinda seems like the elders can do that too. I wonder if it's a different power.
sky horses are also forbidden because horses would be like krill
terrifying and with intent to terrorize the masses
Plot twist: Krills are corrupted Sky horses
also the stuff abt TLP being linked to vices makes me wonder if it’s possible to (loosely, at least) connect the realms to the 7 sins …. Hm
I mean I see ||eden|| as wrath in some sorta way
But the other sins don’t really fit the other realms
Well golden wasteland could be glutton I guess,it shows they got greedy by using the light and making dark stone for a power source but the rest don't make sense to associate with sins
..... Hmmm sloth would fit into prairie, Ayin (prairie elder) cutscene shows them in slumber
Lust would fit into forest (lust for work) as shown by forest elders attitude when you come with light
Envy might be valley? Because of the twins? Idk
Valley must be pride or envy them
But isle doesn’t really fit any
Hmm
Pride or Wrath could fit eden but then Pride can also fit valley
I see greed or wrath fitting eden
Im leaning towards envy, envy of the other realms lush environment hence travel towards other places
Tbh Isle elder can call themself god and I'd agree
Hmm I think wrath would fit into wasteland and greed into eden
But then that would leave gluttony to vault @.@ that doesnt make sense TvT
Well they must love knowledge for them to be a glutton of memories and knowledge
Glutton... Well it doesnt just apply to food so you may be right
Exactly ,all sins don't refer to exactly what they r
It could be lust too (lust for knowledge)
Maybe this is the link between forest elder and vault elder /hj
But why could isle be ,we know it was a lush place with growing elements, and now it's dead and abandoned. Where some ancestors are exiled or died alone
God I miss this group...or should I say the great skybird hahah
But even tho it was a lush place why did they still choose to leave to other places? Thinking it may be because theyre envious of the other realms advancements in the switch trailer it was shown to be not so advanced, a very rural area
Agreed ,it also had tents like forbidden ark, and vegetation more than prairie unless ,it was because of the advancement in technology that drew people away from isle
(can't believe im thinking so much to piece a conjecture just for fun xD)
Isle - Sloth
Prairie - Lust
Forest - Gluttony (Manta light extractor, mass harvest of dark stone)
Valley - Pride
Wasteland - Greed
Vault - ?
Eden - Wrath
It doesn't make sense to pair Vault with Envy so I left it as a question mark
I think vault is glutton because it just loves hoarding knowledge and lust is forest
Hmm remembered a theory of mine with valley and pride being mentioned in the same sentence.
You can get the masks/headpieces of the elders through standard spirits
The theory here is that what if the personalities of elders are similar to the people who have their headpieces/masks?
Isle - Rejecting Voyager
Prairie - Exhausted Dockworker
Forest - Apologetic Lumberjack
Valley - Proud Victor
Wasteland - Fainting Warrior
Vault - Levitating Adept
What if Eden is Gluttony?
In my personal opinion my list would be
Isle - Envy
Prairie - Sloth
Forest - Lust
Valley - Pride
Wasteland - Wrath
Vault - Glutton
Eden - Greed
i feel like sloth/envy fits prairie better but cant explain why other than vibes
If you pair those up with the Realms' Elders, it sorta makes sense too
I think need to change watseland with Eden ,
Greed and Wrath both makes sense with Eden imo. Greed can be reflected by their incessant need to grow stronger which lead to the creation of the storm, thus their downfall. Wrath is also reflected by the storm that's been raging on Eden for centuries
lust might fit vault better? a need for more knowledge, more to archive, there is always more to find and it needs to be stored away
then again idk vault lore so
Hmm eden and wrath may fit because of the storm but ultimately I think wrath fits wasteland because of the battle that took place
This makes sense too
Hmm for me wasteland should be freed because of the amount of pipes they made and the amount of pollution they caused for their tech advancement . Because they were greedy least thats my take on it
Tbh I thought Greed for Eden because it's unsatisfiable. I suppose Lust would also work. But no matter how many kids go up there, it never ends. It requires more and more sacrifice.
Edit: And I got my wires crossed. Gluttony is what I meant
The sea level was higher in wasteland ,we can tell in the graveyard that it use to be a pool ,and on the other side if the gates ,there was a barrier and a docking area
The fact that the sea level in Wasteland dropped significantly is really scary
Greed fits vault because it just keeps taking and keeping ,forest first gluttony because it kept taking and consuming and making dark crystal
Perhaps all the water that used to be in Wasteland all got dispersed to the sunken quarry of Season of Abyss
Greed and Gluttony fit a lot of places because Greed possibly being the kingdom's downfall is one of those lesser themes.
I think season of abyss showed that it was designed to be underwater when it was made back then because it had energy walls to keep things out ,maybe those energy walls gave out and now everything is consumed by timeless water
Some of it seems to be made to be underwater, but I think it might only be up to the gate the krills come out of.
So going along this train of thought (Im gonna be using their names from the concept art here)
Is the reason why Daleth was cast out because he rejected the ways of the other elders regarding the use of darkstone? In Rejecting Voyagers memories he is rejecting the act of mining (likely for darkstone)
In Ayins scene we meet him in his slumber, relating to Exhausted Dockworker, simply he is exhausted with the work he has done. (In the concepts it was said that Ayin is the type to help without thinking of his own regard)
Teth... Is a bit of a shot in the dark. In Lumberjacks memories she apologizes to the tree she just cut down. Relating to Teth maybe this shows that Teth is apologetic for something or to someone. It may be because even tho she knows that darkstone and its usage corrupts and is destroying the world she cannot stop working.
Sah and Mekh, with Proud Victor, theyre just prideful. As shown in their cutscene they wont give in to one another and has a little competition over getting the light
Tsadi and Fainting Warrior, in Fainting Warriors scene it shows that he faints either because of exhaustion or death. In Tsadi's scene he also faints after fighting. Maybe Tsadi is the type to fight for what is right no matter the cost?
Lamed and Levitating Adept, Levitating Adept as shown in his memories is a teacher figure teaching others how to use telekinesis. Lamed is also a teacher/leader figure and in their cutscene Im guessing she uses telekinesis to send the memory crystal up above
Now I shall quack quack
By the looks of it prairie has to be sloth because of sanctuary islands
Regarding abyss most people think mantas are the source of light for darkstone no?
Rejecting Voyager isn't just rejecting mining, they're rejecting mining that would destroy historical murals
Technically any form of light is a source to power darkstone ,some concept art shows any animal of light does that
It makes sense why they imprisoned some mantas in their underground facilities as batteries for their work
Hmm, correct me if im wrong but they infuse light creatures into darkstone right?
Maybe just the light essence, not the creatures themselves. If Sky weren't a family friendly game, we would probably see dried up mantas around light factories
I see almost every creature in sky to be an actual form of light ,but when transferred, since they are light themselves they can be energy itself ,therefore having no form which makes sense since they are of light and the most form they retain is what they were intended to be made by which is a manta or a bird
Sry fir making it confusing , basically they have no true physical form unlike us which leave husks
Ah, you're right. That one cutscene in Abyss where a Manta visibly dissipated as it was giving the player their diving ability is a good proof of your claim
Wait I just thought if something and I need help. So if u think about all the creatures right that are light ,they have no form ,then what about the dark creatures like krill and crab . Is it possible that darkness can pollute living or dead creatures
Like the whales are actually physical,we can tell from their bones in numerous places . Could they be krill ,just a polluted version of them. And crabs have been there since time began ,could the dark versions in the next season a polluted version of them
Crabs are neutral, krills are dark
This would show that there are three forms of creatures that exist in sky. There actual physical animals ,like whales and crab. Light that are birdlike animals . And dark creatures like krill
Im torn between krill being corrupted light creature or war machine
I understand crab are neutral ,in the next season of shattering I think it's teased that there are polluted versions of them ,and oddly enuf there's a light version of them after like ,redeeming them?saving them?
Yep the darkstone crabs or smth like that
Exactly
Arent they just souls or smth (i think this is where the concept art of sky kids saving light creatures soul from the darkness is recycled)
Would that mean that crabs can be light but they just have their physical form still because ancestors have exploited the physical form of mantas ,therefore only mantasr light form can exist because their physical forms was prob hunted or used . This is a random theory ,nothing grounded for this statement
Hmmm minds a mess tryin to comprehend XD
Hahaha
I remember the last time we tried decoding a bunch of letters on some accessories, never gets easy my friend
Tho regarding the manta in abyss... Another pov is that mantas are there not as batteries but experiments
Abyss structures look like a mix between processing and mining area and scientific research
And the ratio for darkstone and manta... Im thinking it may be ratio for technological advancement (darkstone = technological advancment)
Going along this pov its like theyre experimenting on mantas to create bigger, stronger, and better mantas
If I remember correctly mantas are used as beasts of burden, pulling boats not powered by darkstone and as transport in some cases
Even as far as used in entertainment (valley's manta whisperer)
Sorry i was in bed when Ash replied, thank you so much Ash!
Thats a lot of new info
(ping off)
Krill can be horse if you're brave !
Crustaestrian?
Imagine how long the mantas have been there after the place was abandoned
riding a krill like a horse lol sky cowboys would exist
I think krills ate them all rip mantas
Iirc there are no mantas in abyss? Its all fish, sunfish, and the eel? (I really forgot 💀)
Sounds like something a krill would say
I-
Idky I said krills there its supposed to be mantas 💀
I wanted to ask the question, i apologise if its been mentioned or asked before but: what is lorechats thought on the floating handpan that appears seemingly after a small rock has been powered up? Oh and hello ^^
💜
The what? You're gonna need to elaborate
Floating... Handpan?
Do you mean the forest doors yeah theyre not handpans i think those are power diamonds or you meant something else?
I think they meant the one in the Harmony Hall that appears after lighting the candles
Yeah, when you light the candles it appears to have been powered up but I'll double check for any actual differences
It does got powered up by the candles somehow
💀
But now that its mentioned the darkstone is powered after candles are lit 🤔
Jeez, ancestors had some pretty neat tech.
*lights candles
*manifests instrument
Yeah, neat tech indeed!
Krills are found in realms that are exposed to Eden's storm so they could've been creatures that took a direct hit from the storm's blast of darkness which made them "supercharged" with evil energy. Whether they were light creatures or war machines, that I don't know
A stalking creature like this could may as well be Sky's version of a deer.
As well as potential for a horse like creature that I just now realised could be the case based on those hooves and misty mane
Yeah power diamonds work with our candles just like vault
Also that place is beautiful i wish tgc bring back other creatures in the concept arts just like what they did with abyss
I always thought that Power Diamonds were used by the ancestors as a primitive version of candles
i love the idea that the ancestors could not figure out how to make candles so they went with Destruction and Death and Diamonds instead (mostly the latter)
I DISCOVERED A THINGY WHILE LOOKING FOR FAN SEASON SYMBOL IDEAS
<- THIS EXPLAINS IT MORE
would not be surprised
I mean enchantment has colored light which has powers over the elements which actually makes a land habitable for life
Look no further than the ark and its transformation, it can even get rid of pollution
But in the tech here candles arent directly shoved in the diamonds face, just lighting the candles nearby activates it
yesssssss
thinking about how the lights may be split up from white light, and that one concept art that shows it with the season’s symbol…those lights altogether make up life
was trying to look for a symbol for my fan season idea, found that, got very excited
I swear to god I remember something about the enchantment symbol having two meanings, but I assumed the two meanings in question were that it looked like a cauldron & a boat…. Waoooooowww I never knew of this one that’s so cool!!!
what if krills don’t like to be ridden 💔
Those were the two meanings, when it was still in beta I thought it was the Arabic letter “ن" (Nun, N) but that doesn’t mean much either
The life symbol could also be an inspiration bc (I don’t know if this explanation makes a ton of sense but it does in my head) the general boat shape in
is altered a lot from a traditional boat. It does look more like a cauldron at first glance, but the way it curves in before it curves outwards on then top still makes it look super stylized. If it was modeled after the life symbol vol posted it would all make sense :}
It used to be called Pendant of Awakening too so maybe
Wait can you elaborate? Like the enchantment pendant was called that in game/in beta updates?
Yeah, it used to be called that in beta before being changed to Enchantment, I’m not sure if it was just working title or not
Well yellow light is generally considered light (we dont have yellow light in enchantment 💀)
more lore food. perfect
Ah there it is
We never asked horses their opinion on being mounts tbf
if skykids have communication devices, what would they be? (for the story i'm writing again lol)
trying to think of a clever name for sky-phones or something
Id like to imagine a a phone powered by darkstones XD as for how software is even developed... 💀
clams.... is the only thing popped in my head
lmaoo
true darkstone would have to be the way it's developed since that's the only technology in the whole kingdom
how many steps does sky kids have until they ☠️ ?
ROUND SCARE…
Round Scare 💔 I miss you everyday, I always draw him round
I noticed white candles are also used in the sky kingdom to activate something like the trials or the first isle mural
Ho tru, white candles are candles that activate things
Except for cloud murals on flights stone gates they use grey candles
was the entire season once called awakening or just the pendant? :0
Just the pendant, the season didn’t even start yet as this was the pre-order, we didn’t know what it was going to be called
huh. that's 2 seasons with changed names then (assuming enchantment had its name changed right before the season released in beta)
hmm thinking abt language in the sky kingdom...
elders have their written language, found on vault elder's mask and the murals of the elders in their cutscene, as well as the archive walls. they do paint murals as well, as shown by vault elder's cutscene, but i don't believe there's any evidence that points to a spoken language.
spirits have their artistic language, painting their history all over the walls and caves and boats. they also have the memory containers stored in vault. the focus of their language seems to be showing, rather than telling. i don't think there's any evidence of spirits having a written language, but correct me if i'm wrong.
skykids have their spoken language, in form of honks and calls. they are rather new to the kingdom, not leaving any permanent mark on the world like murals or lines of text. they're more of a "in the moment" kinds of conversation; expressing through emotes and honks, as well as leaving message boats and memory candles that disappear after a few days. (i think it's debatable to say if chat and messages are actually something skykids do or just a game mechanic. skykids honk when they send a message in chat, so i think the honking is how they speak and the chat is just for the players.)
Woo
