So i'm writing a sky fic involving humans and I wanted to make sky kids angels and the sky kingdom heaven, but how do I explain where humans reincarnation process? and how do I explain the difference between where an angel's soul comes from and a humans soul? This has been stumping me for a while.

I'm not sure what to do about the spirits/ancestors yet. I'll either scrap them or try to come up with an explanation for them.

The whole history of sky is something I'm trying to come up with a headcanon for and it's not easy. There's not a lot to work off of, so I could go in a lot of different directions with it and it's difficult to choose one.

in game, they're referred to as the singular – Elder of the Valley - but there's obviously two of them, so what's up? some thoughts:
a) they've always been two separate entities but considered equals so referred to as one.
b) they're one entity with two bodies.
c) they're a mini collectivist hivemind; they are two separate entities but can, at some point, lose their individuality and become one mind. However they cannot physically fuse.
d) the actual Elder of the Valley is no longer around (Valley priestess from concepts) so their heirs act as their replacement.
e) they were one entity who split at some point and the kingdom still refered to them as if they're one (implied by in-game foreshadowing). This is why they have one arm and one eye each, because the split wasn’t perfect.

Aaaaaa, I know this is off topic but I just watched some videos on sky lore theories, and they make ao much sense. My mind is currently blowing up from the amount of knowledge, I know theories aren't that reliable but still.

Perfectly understandable, fanfics are better when the writers take more creative freedom

Some of the old stuff may be outdated (ex. the eden concept art that included the King fighting a giant dark creature), but for the most part (as far as I know), the live streams that featured the gameplay itself, (as in excluding any live streams or videos that discussed the concept art or Light Awaits) are otherwise valid.

As a note, the current game is called Children of the Light, while before the global release the game was called Light Awaits.

flight cosmetics are really good, all the hairs and accessories, light whisperer's cape and talented builder's neck fluff actually complement a wide variety of outfits; the pants are a bit harder to match with cosmetics outside this season though, i will give you that

Elaborating a bit further on this, I tend to judge cosmetics more by how their respective spirits look than by how they look individually, like a spirit can have the absolute best-looking cosmetics ever individually but if the combination of cosmetics that the spirit has is in negative levels of drip I'll look at them and go "meh"

I've always been more interested in seeing the designs of the characters rather than wearing stuff myself

So, I really like to play the music sheets and I see that a few of you also like to speculate on where they came from, thus now I shall embark on Why Each Music Sheet Exists.

PART ONE: BASE GAME
Sheets 3, 4, and 5.
Sheet 3 (or I guess sheet 1 now?) is the bird whisperer’s sheet. Maybe they wrote it one day and just play it for the birbs sometime! Maybe birbs like music.
Sheet 4 (sheet 2 now I guess?) is the lullaby, I heard a theory here a while back that whale whisperer was the one in hide n’ seek’s memories, and that maybe the music box belonged to them and I think that’s cute I’m gonna steal it
Sheet 5 (sheet 3 now?) is the manta whisperer’s. It’s one of the main leitmotifs in the game as well as sheet 4’s. If the lullaby was an actual music box at some point, then I think these leitmotifs were present when the kingdom was still intact, as like the national themes of the kingdom. I think sheet 5 is just that!

I shall pause here for now, and pick up later on Gratitude’s musics!

Nothing is canon but its like humans and other humans- not entirely related at all-, probably all created by megabirb and as i believe megabirb and isle elder together. Sibling theory might be correct but that isnt exactly the reason or the exact bond between 2 skykids, i feel its more of regular friendship and connection which allows them to travel to each other. 💜 This is all just stuff i believe, the game is up for interpretation and you can think whatever you feel-

i actually have a hc about the skykids’ origins (i said this earlier in general, but i think this should be further discussed here

My HC is that the Skykids are actually spirits of the deceased who were given a second chance. My guess is that some type of god took pity on them and gave them another chance at life as a Descendant. Their likes as a Skykid might or might not be related to how they died in their past life.

For example: my Skykid, Hanashi/Tadashi, likes reading books and setting crabs on fire. It’s related to how ||she died in a library fire in her past life||

Though this is not considered canon, this is just my take on how the Descendants came to be, and I need more discussion on the topic to see if it’s actually close to canon, or canon in the first place. I will be willing to make changes and modifications if needed.

I would appreciate your ideas and opinions on this topic. This is my first major post in this channel, so I’m very sorry in advance if this seems too outlandish. Again, I just joined Sky a while back, and I read a ton of the lore online, so I have a base idea of what it’s like. ||Maybe the Megabird (that bird of fire people are talking about) could be related to this theory||, but I am still unsure. The basic, canon Sky lore is simple and made up of only a few parts: There was a King of Sky. This King cannot be saved anymore. This King was influential in the Sky world. Light creatures were used or abused, depending on your perspective. The spirits are trapped in the Sky world, and it's up to us to save them.

I think it's just normal hair, rather than special light hair.
White hair is a thing irl, it's not otherworldly. Though it is a bit rare to be born with it, while all the ancestors seem to have white hair by default. (However, while it's odd in humans, plenty of animals have white fur)

Sky kids are very different from their ancestors, unlike their ancestors they are more like inorganic living organisms that doesn't need to eat or drink water to survive or oxygen to go to space and yes we can go to space without going to Eden just get the tgc Cape and probably in every Thursday the TV in the office will let you go to space.

Plus I believe that the ancestors are not human, for me they are more like a humanoid alien species.

It's a theory in which the elders in Wasteland and Hidden Forest had been experimenting on mantas to make diamond thingies as batteries for the kingdom. The abyss definitely looks like an underwater lab to mutate and genetically breed mantas for that purpose.

Not really. A sky kid, theorised as the first sky kid, fell from the sky. They went through the four elemental trials and gifted the kingdom with knowledge, bringing them prosperity. One sky kid.

Sorry to burst your excited bubble, but we kinda do generate light (look what happens when a Skykid meets another Skykid). And Skykids don’t really change or influence the Sky world that much. Even still, it’s an interesting idea!

Even still, when ever we have our light taken, we need a source of where fire is being pronounced. That even coming from Skykids. However whenever skykids get their light taken from them and their friend’s light as well, we go to a place where fire is at or use a spell that recharges our flame.

Just also mentioning this idea, the creature that appears to be a light version of a krill now looks like a drained lighted dark creature. What if, reminding you that this is just an idea, had its light taken from something draining the light out of it. It could be trying to take its light back somehow. But failing every-time it does so.

I am completely with the theory of the ancestors using Mantas and other light creatures a source of light to create the energy crystals, and it would make kinda sense but it feels like krills and mantas look completely different.

I have been thinking about the theories about the blue energy crystal and I am following the theory of it created from the light creatures. But then that brings me to the red crystals from Eden are they the same thing? Because if you think about it, if the blue energy crystals are made from the light that the light creatures generate. So what if the red crystals are more unstable and dangerous version of the energy crystal, in which during the creation and experimenting, something went wrong and instead of storing the light they started to pull and suck the light from anything close. That would make sense, right?

Just a 3 am revelation while looking at performance guides name card but: all spirits have stars in their design, like actual stars and constellations to show they’re more spirit like, it’s most noticiable in name cards than ingame.

So like are the little constellations that all spirits have on them real ones and mean somthing or are they just random ones? I hope this made sence, I’m still tired, there’s a chance I’m looking way to into it but yeah💀

Assuming the logic that the megabird would gather up the ascending spirits to take their light and send down new life. But something went wrong (the megabird did not come to gather the lights of the ascending spirits) and after enough time passed, the spirits had to fall back down.

When the spirits fell back down, the ancestors could either assume they are stars, or perhaps tried to help them?
Suppose they placed the spirits in diamonds, to immortalise their memories. Suppose they made stone vessels to hold the spirits.
Either case, with the cycle broken from the lights not ascending, the balance between light and darkness was unstable.

Suppose that in theory, stars are like ancestors that passed on. That would explain why there would be so many stars, and the amount could be irrelevant and thus create red herring had them be in groups of 6 to imply the elders.
While it is true that in the old intro did show the elders fall into the clouds to establish the kingdoms, it might not necessarily mean that every star that fell thereafter would be another elder.
We know the spirits make up the constellations of their respective elder, which includes a star for the elder.

That said, stars in Sky, could have more than one meaning/purpose/origin.
Some could be a manifestation (a piece, or mote) of Light, some could be an ancestor spirit, some could be an elder, and some could be a skykid about to be reborn.
Although, when one would bring it all together, you get a nebula of stars that make up the megabird (the Bird of Light).

I think it happened in like phases

The first phase being the corruption of the leaders of each kingdom (not the elders but whatever people of power were there) that made them start taking advantage of the living beings (like the many theories of the hidden forest) and society was starting to grow more greedy and more paranoid which lead to fighting as seen in the graveyard and the entrance of the temple in the wastelands

In the light awaits concept art, there were signs of fighting between the ancestors and the creatures becoming corrupted by darkness.
Although, the current game may have included some conflicts between ancestors

The Sorrow stance in the wastelands would be from the generals daughter who had to take over her parents place after they fell Ill (she doesn’t like fighting that’s why she has a sorrow stance)

Each of these spirits were important people in the history before the darkness

The helpful soul in the isles would teach the young children how to use their winged lights, the sleepy butterfly helped sick creatures dark and light , the raging artist helped the architecture grow and thrive, the aspiring racer helped the culture of racing grow even further, the sorrowful general stopped most wars and the aquatic triplets were the ones to figure out how to harness the mind (and develop the kinetic imagination)

That's a really cool interpretation, but still a theory someone made and not official ! Haven't thought about linking the Vault elder manta to those long ones on the mural, that was a really great idea !

Some people here have theorised that this was a facility experimenting on mantas being transformed into power diamonds; while bigger mantas may not necessarily yield more than smaller ones, it could have been found out those with more wings did. Hence why the scholars may have turned to the giant sleeping underwater...

There’s more than one mega bird theory, but the most common one says that Megabird is an extremely powerful being that is the higher authority on all light creatures. Some believe that they are the god of the Sky world

Its name is from concept art. Ingame, whatever beckons us to Orbit is called "The Light".

Interestingly, it has been pointed out it looks a lot like the Laniakea supercluster ! If the ancestor worshipped this, it's no wonder why the stars gave them power and them falling is a pretty big deal.

The answer is extremely obvious, it's the Chill Sunbather. This sunglasses-wearing spirit has caused more pain and suffering than everything else in the Sky world. Dicussions about sunglasses have involved some of the most idiotic and insane arguments ever found in Sky lore, and Sky in general.

You can't always judge a society by their tech. There were human societies that lived in incredibly steep mountains. The wheel, an incredibly basic invention to us, wasn't invented there for ages (it might not have been invented ever, and was brought by others) since it was completely useless in that environment. Societies invent for what they need. Considering ancestors have working holograms, flying vehicles, and actual spells/potions are a studied science, I wouldn't call them medieval at all. The apocalypse also probably destroyed a lot of their tech. We don't know how long it was sitting out unused and unprotected from the elements before our skids got there.

Finally got to meet the Rhythm Guide everyone loves so much. Also, my skid did respect level 2 despite not knowing that emote, so more proof that the skids are capable of showing emotions they weren't 'taught'.
They're so emotive during quests, so I wonder how they feel while we control them. Like, are their emotions a 1 to 1 of the emotes we make them do, or like, if they're feeling 'neutral' while we control them. Like, they're not un happy while we run around Prairie, but they're also not especially excited either. They are just vibing.

the capes don't show shadows because they're literally made of light, but the skids don't have to be rocks to cast a shadow. Tbh I really don't like stuff like clay/rock theory. It can be very 'realistic' sometimes, and since sky is still a fantasy game, sometimes I feel the realism gets taken too far.

Same here, but over time I have noticed some things. Like Ennarcia stated it can get cliquey and you really wouldn’t see that if you aren’t a regular in this channel. It’s not all bad but I am very cautious in this channel especially which leads me to not even expressing or actively discussing here. If I want lore I just gawk at Zhao’s website. I guess as some fanbases grow there are weeds bound to sprout up.

so after over analyzing the murals in the cave of prophecies, I’ve come to the sleepy 3am conclusion that there might be multiple colored lights floating around & not just enchantment ones.

I had noticed the murals depicting different elders taking different colors of light, but the ones they were shown taking didn’t seem to line up with where we find them. For example the Valley twins in the murals are shown with the cyan light, but you have to get the blue light from the valley during enchantment rather than the cyan light. There was also what looked to be forest elder with the blue light, which I’ve already mentioned the location of.

Either some of the colored lights traveled between realms, or the prophecy murals show completely different balls of light that happen to sport familiar colors to them. That or the paintings show completely different ancestors from the current elders, but that seems unlikely to me.

Either way, the king finished the trials, seemingly got the lights as a reward, and gave them away to his disciples or whatever you might call the elders/ones he gave them to. It just seems like some are out of place in the puzzle but maybe Im just not thinking straight because there’s less rhan than half an hour until it’s 4 am for me

Not really sure what you guys mean by this chat being a clique; maybe this is because folks coming here asking "So what's the story ?" expect an essay but sometimes it can be real tiring to type one every single time, so often they get a "Wish I knew." or other dissatisfying answers and take it as lore nerds here rejecting them when we really can't explain lore in a concise way because TGC wants it to be a sandbox and not super clear.

We do have fanmade lore docs but they are not properly sourced at some crucial points, and may assume some things about characters in the game based off concept art alone to present it as truth and not just an interpretation.

I can confirm. Before Flight, lorechat was an entirely different place. There wasn’t that much casual conversations. If there were, then it was about the King or King Propaganda. There was so much focus on the main lore (with the King and all) that other parts of Sky lore got neglected

I based most of my decisions on RPG games like Fire Emblem.

The Enchantment spear is ornamental, and was bought from a far-away land using the Crew’s vast wealth. It’s adorned with purple fabric.

Out of all the instrument-playing guides, the Sanctuary Guide seems the least violent, so I’d imagine them to fill a cleric/bard role with their handpan.

The Prophets are skilled with their weapons, and the Prophecy Guide uses them. Tridents are normally associated with water, bo staffs can be spun around on the ground to create dust, arrows fly through the air, and fire axes are a real thing. These reasonings for the Prophecy weapons are a bit stupid, but I still think it fits.

Crossbows are an easy weapon to use, build, and repair, and they’re useful for hunting, making it perfect for the Assembly Guide.

Flight Guide uses a spear (or other long-ranged weapons) so that they can easily hit targets when mounted on light creatures.

The Abyss Guide is technically a thief, so daggers fit them.

The Performance Guide’s mask implies they come from a wealthy family, and given the setting, I think a rapier makes good sense.

Flight guide would play a druid but be dissapointed they can't polymorph into a bird until later levels, so they choose to play an aarakocra (birdfolk) instead.

Although with Enchantment I wanted to come up with tools that make controlling colored light easier (& the outcome more predictable) so far I’ve only come up with was an incense burner for orange light, but alchemy with bare hands is still being practiced
