Prophecy got used as an example, and although I know that was more for the focus on gameplay than anything else, I’m really hoping it’ll also include something like the prophecy murals — which are incredibly and obviously lore focused, and conveniently all in one place. Implied and soft lore is fun and I like it a lot, but sometimes you need the simple and easy stuff to balance it out, yknow?

Before a game can be a game it’s gotta be worked out on paper. There’s a lot of concept art from theee early development phases. We mostly got a hand of Tom Zhao’s stuff tho it’s debatable how much survived to Live

That’s a hard question to answer bc it would probably depend on your definition of lore. Like, the game obviously has to be constructed around the basic building blocks of the world building, how everything works, etc. The finer details probably come after gameplay, though, because there’s a fair bit of stuff ingame (like the Eden backdrop) that are confirmed to be added just to make the gameplay experience better with lore as an afterthought.

In general, it does unfortunately feel like lore — not just its existence, but us being able to find it out as well — often takes a backseat to developing stuff like cosmetics and buying them both in the game and in the fan base as a whole. HOWEVER. as someone who’s been playing the game for just over two years, the way lore is woven into seasons has gotten noticeably better from my perspective, especially if you compare it to really early ones like the first four. There hasn’t been too much lore significant updates to the base game itself, though, so I can’t judge that… although that might be the focus of this season??

There's Eden concepts EVERYWHERE that's free for TGC to take to revamp Eden.

Eden's concept aesthetic may have been used to design the Prophecy trials, as in the beginning when it hit beta, it looked A LOT like what Eden was going to be. In black and white, completely dulled out in saturation

last time i was capeless in home from eden i tried jumping off the top of the eden portal but didn’t notice much of a difference, i’d have to do more testing but it’s possible the umbrella only affects your fall speed if you have a cape

I assumed that skids were indestructible. Even after all the brutally abusive battering in Eden (and of course falling from a distant constellation and crashing on the planet? to begin with which is without a cape and yet no cracks). Nothing breaks them. So I’d say that if anything breaks when a skid falls, it’d be the floor

So eden explodes and the all the other realms are effected causing all the ancestors die. Yet there bodies aren’t see anywhere. I think though they are actually everywhere but we don’t see them, after completing a spirits memory there is a body covered in darkness that you free and send off into the sky. Its design is similar to the ones to the sky children that are in eden and free these spirits with wing light as well in the end you yourself turning into one. So these ancestor body’s that are covered in darkness could be all over the map. It’s also interesting to point out how all the structures like the big temples and arenas haven’t collapsed over time meaning this apocalypse event took place not long ago before the sky kids entered the world. This means the apocalypse would have been instant and eden would have to resolve itself quickly and the other realms to return to normal all while in a time period where it wouldn’t take 100 of years as the body’s and structures still can be found.

Well, the main lore we do know abt winged light is that they're actually from the fallen statues in PNR, not us. As the description for PNR says "Return the light of the fallen", meaning it was theirs

That's a hint that the kids in Eden before us are actually not the same kind of Sky kids as us.

Another hint is what happens when we die. It's implied we break out ourselves, as right when we die, we already have a golden light from our own statue. This is usually the colour of the statues you already saved if you return before reset

How is that possible if the Eden skids are our friends? The names aren't on the statues proper, but when flying into orbit, your friends' names are still plastered all over the flying kids, implying they were the ones who broke out and flew ahead of you.

The reason of my question was that i found out that one of the sound files is called 'KingMerge' and what you can hear is the sound of the first light you see after dying in Eden, so what i thought was that maybe the king is the light we see or our own sky kid is the kind? i dunno like i said im not into lore until recently so correct me if im wrong with anything!

The mention of "KingMerge" suddenly reminds me of the "King is battery for Diamond" theory, subtype of the "King is Diamond" theory

It's an interesting theory iirc, the mention of "KingMerge" can be used for evidence for it

There was this theory that the King is in the Diamond, and everytime we die and go into the Dark Room, we're actually meeting the King and resupplying them with light to go on a little further inside the Diamond to power it (So the King is pretty much a Diamond battery and we're the charger)

It is a chaotic barren wasteland. No spirits to discuss, no artefacts or complete architecture. Just a bunch of ruins, pipes, krill, crabs, red crystal and death.

The moon can be seen in Wasteland, vault and Eden. Knowing there is a moon means the night sky in Sky is at least not darkness.

The moon helps the world be at least dimly lit at times to help creatures survive. Had there not be a moon, there would not be moonlight, tides that would not flood areas in the day, or the world be obliterated by most asteroids.

There is though the lore docs in the pinned messages (take note not all of them are up to date though).

Aside from gathering the info yourself, or collaborating with other theorists, you are free to add your own lore in your fanfic.

Your theory, keeping in mind that the seasons are actually memories, pretty much boils down the Pompeii volcano eruption. The darkness is from Eden but you could say they’re covered in ashes

Hmm, I always interpreted the events of Eden (the fall) and the death of the people of Sky being seperate

I often make my assumptions of the timeline based off of the realms itself (since I noticed a correlation between the realms and the concept timeline)

The majority seems to have already died out based off of the memories and the representation of GW. Most of the memories either took place sometime before literally dying, and the others depicted collapse or something. (the Saluting Captain, Fainting Warrior, Look out guy, etc)

Vault seems to have fewer spirits. You would imagine they're the last to die out since they're in the Vault as the Kingdom fell, which is heavily guarded and isolated from the outside

Also, it matches the concept timeline in a way, as the GW part of the timeline is also when everyone in the Kingdom died out. Leaving presumably King/Prince all alone.

It's because of this as well that led me to the "Prince tried to fix things but ended super badly" kind of theory with the concept timeline. Since it's interesting that the Vault part of the Sky timeline was somehow non-existent

had a dream last night about the upcoming season where crap hit the fan about Eden and all the realms bar Isle were affected. so skykids fled to Isle and found Dawn Elder there standing outside their temple just "we have to help them" and the skids were like "you could leave this whole time?"

it would in fact be very nice to see the other Elders milling about in the world. I don't think they're strong enough to leave their pocket dimensions right now but I imagine the skykids helping them achieve that

they prob have enough strength to go to the Light from the skykids' light offerings since they are able to traverse to Orbit, but something's keeping them from being able to be present in the Sky world.

I want more elder interactions very badly. I've said it before, but playing the bare minimum but still as intended path requires you meet the elders and candlemaker. That's it. The skids have to canonically meet the elders to finish their journeys. So they are the characters it feels the most wasteful to know nothing about.

Like, some stuff implies they care about us (Wasteland Elder pin poem comes to mind tbh) and completing their constellation 'earns us their favor,' but all we get from that is 'I'm going to teach you how to do your hair like mine.'

Since the release of the game, the Elders are the character us skykids get to interact with the least.
It seems apparent that the world of sky is trying to emphasize on how creature that has so much power would either become more distant, or secluded from creatures of a lesser form.

For light creatures, the most abundant ones skykids get to interact with are small. Showing they are weak and eager to come into contact with fellow creatures of its stature. Which in turn demonstrates their herd like behaviour. This may be a survival feature as when a creature that small is found alone, they are more likely to be killed (see the lone small manta in Wasteland being hunted by Krill).
Larger creatures though tend to live in places that are higher up, or harder to reach. Not to mention when found, they either prefer to travel alone, or since they are less common than smaller creatures, it could be an uncommon occasion for more than one creature would be found in a group (see the greater manta, and the giant Turtle).
Take note the opposite seems to be true when it comes to Krill, as there can be packs op to three patrolling near each other, or even a group of up to 4 as found in the Graveyard and as seen in the cutscene of Abyss with 3 krills seen leaving the underwater dome and a fourth staying behind.

The rarest/ most lonesome creature in the game (by comparison as each creature except for one) can be encountered by skykids through events taking place.
These elder creatures include the Elder Cosmic manta, Elder Manta in Sanctuary island, Elder bird (which was last seen in the season of Rhythm and has not returned since), and the supposed Elder Corrupted Dark Dragon (or leviathan) in the season of Abyss.

While the Whale is similar in size to these elder creatures, it is difficult to determine if it is the case given its encounters are more in line of greater creatures, and there are no other variants to compare to.

The game does not always give us the official names or explanations in or outside of the game. This observation may be considered to be more theoretical, until proven as a canon.

Thinking about how elders may become distant or disconnected from others because of their power, or at least from that frame of mind, makes them seeming happy to interact with us hold some kind of weight (it holds weight regardless but that's not the point). Well, not happy per say, but every elder besides the forest elder engages or even plays with the skids in a way that says the elders don't find the skids to be a nuisance they wish would quickly go away. Like, they're not completely cut off from that connection yet.

in Short, I would love to see how the game could reveal more of history to skykids as they progress through the game.

It does make sense for the elders to be elusive to a moth in the world of sky, an innocent and naive creature that needs help to become stronger.

However, once the skykids grows in strength with their capes, and wiser as they go through the seasons, the game does not seemingly recognise the progress made other than granting them another rank on their capes, access to cosmetics such as the elder hair and, thanks to the season of Abyss, allow skykids to access new areas they were previously unable to reach. Or as the game seems to want to imply, but not fully demonstrate for fear or excluding moths, reward the player for accessing hard to reach areas with candles or winged light.
Personally, I would love to see how the game could expand on that idea of players being able to explore areas, and when they are able to fly higher, farther, or withstand more damage than before; in turn reward players with either more lore about the world of Sky, or possibly earn a cosmetic that rewards the player for overcoming this challenge.

In recent seasons (assembly, abyss and Performance) the guide has since included cosmetic items that a skykid can purchase, as well as show other players that they have completed the seasons (with the assembly furniture, abyss diving mask, and performance mask).

In Light Awaits, it was rumoured that a skykid that is able to unlock every spirit cosmetic, as well as their respective elders' cosmetics, would have rewarded the player with an item that may have been considered to be an Ultimate reward, or End Game cosmetic.
The Eden Crown has once been in the game, though due to hackers (as far as I know), the item supposedly was removed.

This in turn has lead to this ultimate dissapointment to players that may have spent the time and effort to reach that milestone.
||That once you unlock all elder hairs, there is no in-game reward. And no, having all of the elder hairs does not necessarily count towards reaching that milestone. As each elder hair is a reward for completing that elder's constellation. It may not translate to completing all constellations if all elder hair is unlocked.||

Which begs the question, will there one day be an ultimate reward similar to the Eden Crown?

Completing the Constellations is actually a perfect marker for growth in that sense. A moth shouldn't be able to speed run sky's content in a week, or even a month. Rewarding players for continuing to come back is a good thing. It's not bad to give new players something to aspire to.

And has TGC seen its player base? They literally just had an article published about how we love helping each other! Give Veterans somewhere hard to get to and they'll be dragging moths there to share the experience within a week

Apparently, after grinding for candles religiously for one month, the skykid would be able to access all non-season cosmetics.
However this can bypassed with buying candles packs. Even though it makes sense for the game to have the financial support though microtransactions. It may still breed some minor amount of frustration from players that would rather play the game instead of buying everything with real life currency.

To me, a perfect marker for growth is knowledge. I think you stop becoming a moth when you know enough about the game to fully teach other new players.
This “constellation completion” idea encourages excessive candle running and burnout.

No amount of candles will save you from the heart grind. In theory, in theory, you could befriend a veritable heck ton of randoms (to at least high five), then just send hearts en masse and hope they send them back out of obligation, but that's still a ton of effort.

And at some point people just have to deal with how others spend their money.

Completing constellations, as something to work towards over time, is something we currently have that would be reliable.

I presume the players that do buy out the cosmetics may spoil the experience for themselves as well, since the drive to play through the season has been taken away.

If the player does this to support the game, then I greatly commend them for the support.

• the eden castle itself seems to be intact, like how we see it when we enter ascension. Eden seen throughout the realms does not look like this

• the skykids in the image don't seem to have enough wl/experience to be able to access eden, meaning

• some elements of the storm (such as the rocks) may expand into other realms

• the eden storm in general seems to have been larger in the past, as the crumbling skykid statues before the wl tunnel could either be skykids who didn't reach eden or skykids who completed eden when it was larger in the past. either way, those skykids were petrified by the storm. so

• either we see the storm during the peak of it's strength (looking at past events like previous seasons) or this happens in real time for one reason or another.

but this is all just speculation and maybe a bit of a reach

It's the only light with two locations: one by the scarecrow farmer around the polluted pond, and the other in the Crab Fields. It's symbol resembles the eyes of the shadows in fire trial, which are dark clouds that immediately extinguish your light

They theoretically could be the King, or a priest of Eden
King because of the halo effect behind the statue, the tall size, and holding a diamond.
Priest because no statue that accurately depict an elder officially exist in the realms (that I know of). Though there are other large statues that seem to either represent spirits or simply add to the architecture. (again, theoretical, I may be wrong here).

That depends on what you mean. If you mean the statues that resemble the one in Home, my thought on that is that they were forged as a counterpart to the prince/king or Eden Elder, who might’ve been a proto-skykid, like the Elder statues we meditate in front of in Elder temples.

If you mean the more humanoid statues in stormlock you give winged light to, those are petrified skykids. Giving them winged light revives & ascends the petrified skykids who died in Eden.

The ones outside of stormlock with crystals growing out of them might also be skykids tho their fate is unclear.

That one was from the early beta testing phase (you can see Scarecrow’s old design still) Unfortunately the light the guide is holding turned out to be nothing, we were so bummed because I remember we spent so much theorizing on what it could be during that phase

i believe the futility we face in Eden is one of skykids' own making. whatever skykids were originally supposed to do in Eden is up to debate, yet they aren't strong enough to make it to the center without dying. skykids could just buff themselves up with light and charge on past their fellow peers' corpses get to the center, but they have such a love for each other that they can't help but give up their own light to save their petrified friends, weakening themselves so they they will ultimately succumb to the darkness in the point of no return. this leaves more bodies for other skykids to save, weakening themselves in turn, dying, and sustaining the cycle.

Earth = Flower (sure the wind could be the 'player', but it is more nature oriented, thus earth)
Fire = Journey (the red traveller and the desert gave the fire element)
And Magic = Sky: Children of the Light

The Game that takes inspiration from each of the past games.
From cloud, a child that can fly amongst the clouds.
From Flow, the fluid motions of the light creatures being reminiscent of aquatic animals.
From Flower, the juxtaposition (almost like collaging) between man made and natural environment as well as environmental story telling (albeit it being wide and not obvious at a glance. It is more emotional and subtle instead of to the point and obvious).
From Journey, the philosophy and environmental story telling.

Ergo, Sky is a work of passion by TGC and on the company does care about at its core (I hope)

We don’t know. We know they are corrupted by darkness, but don’t know how the corruption process works. Darkness could corrupt living light creatures or reanimate dead ones. Salem has a theory that darkness fuses together manta corpses killed in the power diamond production process, so krill would be huge conglomerates of dead light creatures.

I’ve coined the thought that light embodies connection, perhaps even a mental connection we the players struggle to see, leading to hivemind-like shenanigans. The Light of Orbit could be a collectivist hivemind where every entity ascended into it are connected with each other but retain their individuality because, despite being one with the Light, they are all loved for who they are and who they contribute.

Salem’s concept branches off that idea in that darkness screws with light creatures’ ability to connect with each other. Krill are also conglomerates who are connected with each other but can’t truly bond due to the darkness parasitizing them, hence their hostility.

i make the distinction between a collectivist hivemind and a conformist hivemind.

a conformist hivemind is what most people think when they hear hivemind – an entity that subsumes other minds into itself to form a singular consciousness. all beings within the conformist entity lose their individuality for the singular consciousness to completely and utterly control them.

a collectivist hivemind is one where every being within the entity is connected to each other. they retain their individuality. the entity is composed of many consciousnesses that are aware and communicate with each other. this sort of hivemind can, theoretically, maintain a singular thread of consciousness that is the sum of all its consciousnesses, but the individuals within it can still be aware of themselves as individuals.

The Light is a collectivist hivemind. Megabird is the hivemind’s consciousness but all beings within Them are still separately conscious. Hence why we see spirits in Orbit and ascended spirits returning to the world — they have not been integrated and lost to the Light.

After all I'm thinking volcano amount of substances to come out. Originally some kind of light creature from the past (or one that we have currently) could've gotten caught up in the waste. Getting covered with this waste, the waste would remain for ages after perhaps so krills evolved with the darkness and lack of sun in Eden. Slowly becoming krills through time.

I do wish TGC could have had something else for players to show that they were in these seasons, but did not buy a seasons pass to get the pendant.

The thing with TGC is that most of the devs are actually pretty cool, but due to how venture capitalism works (because that's the gears they work on), they gotta constantly appear like they are getting more and more money unless they wanna lose shareholder money. Which would be really bad news.
They are also a team of less than a hundred people working on an MMO, and I'm not sure how many more people they can afford hiring.

The only dev I know has been in conflict with people here is Ktjn in beta chats; they sound a bit dramatic sometimes (thinking about the time they asked someone if they wanted the devs to not get paid so they can buy food) but I feel like even they aren't that bad; it's really incredible they are this close to us and take in feedback.

I feel like they can't tell us everything because of the capitalism thing I said above, but it really does look like they are genuine when they say things are more complicated than they seem to us, perhaps they are overwhelmed.

And since they are a community dev, I don't think it's within their power to significantly change what is wrong with the company, so my frustration is mostly oriented towards the brand in general, while I worry a bit for the devs.

If I really had to put thought into what Skykid shells are made out of, I would guess charcoal, but tbh it doesn’t matter to me that much. Aight so- I thought baudshaw, Vela and Salem were really cool- As 8n I was scared to talk in here when they were around. I may had known fruitzie from cozy so I always tried to be online when she was. Ennarcia was a friend who sent me part of a fanatic once. It was amazing 👏 💜 and Raider may had been the first one I ever talked to here. I think i became less nervous around lorechat when I discovered that Vela liked wooly mantas and Salem had an entire dictionary of indecipherable words that I'm still figuring out.Baudshaq is baudshaw but less scary through time. Hello lorechat and yes I know Harmony Hall has been open for 40 minutes but there’s already lore on my mind so here’s my offering today

The descriptions of the IAP instruments. Yes, they’re the descriptions of the IAP instruments but they got my lore senses tingling and honestly half the reason I’m writing this is because I want to document them to myself for future sessions of walking around my table

Fledgling Harp - “Crafted to inspire any beginner artist to shine.”
Rhythm Guitar - “Retrieved unharmed by the crabs, Pleaful Parent knows you’ll put it to good use.”
Triumph Handpan - “Tuned to perfection from materials imbued with the dulcet tones of the Sanctuary Island bell tower.”

Edit (for myself): I also just realized the Triumph Handpan is the only IAP instrument you can sample so far, and you also have to summon it with white candles unlike the others which are just there. It’s also floating, unlike the other instruments which are packed away like how you would normally. This makes me think it might just be capital L light, and its description seems really excessive too but idk, I am examining IAP descriptions after all

3. I always sort of assumed that the elders predated the ancestors, but if this mural is the ancestors descending, people of some species clearly already existed

This mural seems to take place at the ice rink. They look to be cheering (although it could just be), and it shows the stars falling. If we remember the second seasonal quest, these stars could become winged light, light creatures, or other Skykids, although it’s also likely this shows us how the Performance Ancestors were created
