It might sound like a stupid question but hear me out

Magic is anything that breaks the laws of nature in a world. So in Sky, magic would be anything that does not fit into the world there – actually, Office is a good example. Also the Switch area.

But I mean if I think about it this way, I don't see "magic" as a part of Sky in this sense.

I’ve never really paid much attention to the statues but they remind me of the Hylia statues in Breath of the Wild to collect hearts or stamina. So I’ve just always sort of connected the queen with the statues, especially in the point of no return in eden

My biggest theory with sky is that the queen was banished around the time the king was becoming corrupted. Or something happened with her that made the king destroy everything related to her. So the prince ran away and the statues serve as “hey come back” from the king. Or maybe the king just thought he died or disappeared unintentionally so he wants people to remember him

Well it’s just a theory of mine to make things… interesting. My theory is the singing in game is the queen’s voice to her child’s. In 2020 the opening cutscene explains what to do for the game had a voice singing and it seemed to me at the time someone was directly addressing me. Now it’s just on the walls in the cave about these to do now so it’s less personal and more like “hey here’s a history now go do something “

but that’s more of an additional fiction type of thing I’ve been thinking about. Not a very canonical thing. Fairly certain the “queen” is never mentioned and doesn’t have any concept arts at all.

You know what bothers me the most about this mural, for no good reason? Why are there doors at the END of the underground tunnels that are next to the manta tanks. They wouldn’t open into anything but solid rock. Why are they there

Ench is weird to me in that regard because the murals on it seem to be painted as if they were traveling around the kingdom and heading TOWARDS vault, but all the tidbits of outside game evidence (and some not super noticeable in game stuff) point to it being a preservation ark like you said. Plus if it was to preserve the kingdom… why would they head TOWARDS the disaster instead of away from it?

Wait, what if instead of being a preservation ark for the entire kingdom’s culture, it was just for Isle’s… that would make a lot of sense actually. The huge focus in murals on spells and the colored lights, things Isle seems to be a center point of studying. The similar artstyle of the ark murals to the isle murals. Traveling towards vault in order to record their realm’s culture as the last people leaving it, but failing.

In all seriousness, the doors(?) are such a weird detail that I don’t know how to explain them. Alasdairs idea does make the most sense, but it would be weird to get such an Improtant detail from something that looks a lot like a mistake on a mural.

I’m still thinking about the enchantment spirits trying to record as much of isles culture as they could on the ark I need to make a more fleshed out and coherent theory post on this later. It makes so much more sense than them traveling away from Eden to record the kingdoms history, and explains them bringing stuff like seeds (maybe of plants native to isle) along with them. It also explains why they’d be traveling to vault, in order to record their civilizations memories there…

Imagine isle after they left. Were they the last people to leave, or did they leave others behind? Did they stick around until it became obvious that they couldn’t anymore? What happened to isle elder afterwards?

Shelter wouldn’t really have been necessary at this point in time. The danger in isle would’ve come from its desertification and the near impossibility of growing food there, due to the sudden biome change and the general lack of farming knowledge, as well as mayyybe not being able to get more resources from trading with the rest of the kingdom due to exile. They didn’t have to fight darkness corruption or anything, just starvation and the sudden disappearance of all the resources they needed to maintain a civilization there.

Note how empty isle seems architecture wise compared to the other realms - maybe this means it was abandoned sooner

Nvm, the symbol on spirit headpieces is < <> >, not <•>. It resembles the symbol for our WL a lot, though, interestingly enough it only seems to be on the base game spirit masks resembling the elders’ (like rejecting voyager’s) which further proves my theory about that symbol being connected to elders.

Interestingly enough, waving bellmaker DOES have this symbol on their mask, though, and they have a pale mask reminiscent of the Lightseekers’

The “cloud levels” in wasteland get a bit confusing at times, to be honest. Look at Ark. when we enter the area on the boat it’s floating on a sea of clouds, and yet when we look up there’s still a “ceiling” of clouds covering everything. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were even more levels beneath Wasteland. The Sky world might really just be clouds all the way down, with the occasional ocean or speck of land covering above that level. Gravity is pretty weird in this universe.

My general idea for where I put them was this. The “middle” elements (everything but Void & Mind) have traits from both sides, but lean heavily towards the side they are placed on. I’m gonna explain a few of them.

Mind/Purple Light Manifesting illusions made of light and pulled from the jmagination into real, tangible things. Pure light, no darkness aspects. Pretty self explanatory when you think about how it works.
Fire / Orange Light Control of the fire element and/or heat [it’s hard to tell, but it doesn’t matter a lot].
__Light Traits__is pure energy, provides heat, associated heavily with the Sun. Aligned with flame, which is worshipped and seen as synonymous with light, but my not be entirely the same.
Darkness Traits: can be extremely destructive. Although necessary for life to exist in some places, it also destroys it by function, because it’s fire.
Air/Cyan Light Control of air and air currents. Leans heavily towards light, either has some darkness traits that I’ve missed, or its light connection simply isn’t as strong as Mind’s, hence why it gets place below.
Light Traits: Associated with the sky and open air, where light proliferates. Necessary for most life. Bursts of wind recharge inner light (wasteland cyclone, wind path winds). Clouds do as well, but those are technically made of water so I’m not sure if they count.

Earth/Green Light Opposite of Air. Either controls the earth itself or nature. I lean towards the latter just because of in game evidence and the fact that it’s green instead of brown, but I think it can represent both, hence why Prairie floats so much. Leans towards darkness, has some light aspects. This one is weird because the ground idea connects more to darkness, but the nature idea is the opposite. I think I already explained why I consider earth and water “dark” elements, but if I’m being honest, earth is the most susceptible to switching teams based on this discrepancy.

As I have learned from concept art (so this might not be current lore) the battle that happened in wasteland is between spirits and creatures.
My question is were they fighting light creatures or dark creatures?
Were they fighting krill or did the krill come from the dead light creatures?

Disclaimer that this info is from concept art, so might not be true anymore. However, based on the size of the weapons in wasteland and what it seems like they were used for, I would say that they were fighting krill instead of other ancestors. Although, it could’ve been both and krill were simply involved because they’d been weaponized somehow by one side

for the last question, if you mean the sanctuary one, I am 90% sure those were prophecy assets that weren’t supposed to be there. I compared the figures to the prophecy murals, and the wasteland elder shows up twice, one looking battle-ready and the other standing and watching

There was an old concept art that showed that the human world was below the world of Sky and that the ancestors and Skids are souls from dead humans. I don’t think that’s what the current live version is, but if there ever were humans in sky, that’s how they would fit in.

The human world was only mentioned in concept art by name. Supposedly the Office (secret Vault area) would count as the 'human world.' However there is an old dev quote saying that the office is not canon. Which either implies that part of the old lore (Light Awaits) might not be valid in the current lore of Sky (Children of the Light).

Daleth, the Elder of Dawn, is a ferryman. Even if his current cutscene does not show him guiding ships. It is stated somewhere that he could be retired, which means he might not be guiding spirits anymore, but he is instead guiding skykids on their journey.
Perhaps whenever we are on a boat, one can say that it is thanks to the dawn elder indirectly helping us.

I am not sure with my notes, though am sure the Lore chat has it.
It has been noted to be a bug though, but it is/was an interesting find.

There’s a theory that the King was the first ever Skid, which I think is interesting. But at the same time, it’s questionable why one of us would be sent down when we aren’t even needed, so to speak. Maybe he was an experiment, or maybe he was just a normal ancestor. But I personally think he was an Skid that was born in the “wrong time” and things took a downturn after he conquered the Trials.

It was the old cutscene in Light Awaits that showed the elder call forth 4 boats, not to mention his mask breaking a while after it was restored. Which helps enforce the idea that skykid cannot make a change permanent on their own.

In a way, the change feels like throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
The elder is a ferryman, yet there are no working boats in Dawn. The realm is where the whole civilisation started, yet there is nothing, not even a shred of what could have been there. Even if Skykids can fly, knowing that they can use boats could tie in well with the idea that the elders are indirectly helping (see village of dreams).

I always had a theory that the Trials for the spirits isn’t like it is for the Skids. In that, if they die in the Trials, then they die for real, so only the best can possibly make it through them. Unlike us, who just respawn. But if the King was a Skid, then he would have been able to get through them all without having to fear death, and thus he might have been like, the first time make it through all four. And since he was the first, it’s possible that there was some reward or prize for doing so and that was gaining control of all the powers he got and then gave to the Elders.

So the King in order to give their kingdom prosperity sacrificed their light to the diamond to power it slowly becoming corrupted . When the diamond exploded or imploded the light that was scarified spread out all over the kingdom forming WL. Which means as we collect WL we’re slowly regaining the image of the king

I have my own ideas about winged light but I really like your idea that the king sacrificed their own light for the Eden diamond, corrupting it in the process. Perhaps that’s why they are “not around to be saved.” Light that goes into power diamonds are used up and irretrievable

Like, the king has connections to the winged light/the glowing child at the end of Eden, and by accepting them, we accept the king into us, to help us. Only now I realized the Ultimate Gift from SoDreams looks quite alot like their Vault curved headress

The headdress is a phoenix, a symbol of rebirth. Vault is the 'old age/about to kick the bucket soon' realm (in concepts at least). There is the start of something for that I'm sure

I have a head canon ( more of a hypothesis) the the elders are helping the skykids in other ways that they could not do themselves.
Some of these analyses may be vague, or subjective (as in not literal). Though it is connected to the message I believe each realm and thier elders impart to the skykids.

For dawn, it would be the boats. As a ferry man, I imagine him to charter paths for boats to sail true to their headings. As the elder that granted the elder a means to travel in the skies and set off on their journey to a place where the land meets the sky.

Day would be the butterflies and the jars. A vessel that hold something that the Megabird represents, Light and Life. Even if the butterflies themselves might not be able to give sustenance to ancestors, they do however provide skykids a boost to help reach places where they would not be able to on their own.

Forest would be the power diamonds, batteries of light that power the boats, the gates, that raised entire cities and bridge gaps for skykids along the way. Even if they can fly, the technology is there to make the journey easier.

Valley would be the relationship between culture and competition. The balance that the ancestors maintained to not forget where they came from and allow for them to develop their identity. A skykid's personal identity may not be important in the grand scheme of things, but it is vital to the skykid as each one can develop their own unique traits. Where one skykid would fall, another may rise to occasion and help clear a path for others to overcome.

Wasteland is the bravery of skykids to protect their Light from Darkness. The flame that keeps them alive, maintains the passion they carry and will to carry on no matter what.

Vault is knowledge. While the most dream like realm, it recalls on what the other realms have established. Reminding the skykid of what they learned and what they must face.
While Eden may have a message of rebirth, it brings the journey into a full circle.

Interesting how the first 3 help with physical powers (a vessel, a boost and clearing a path) while the latter help the sky kid grow some abilities of their own (an identity, building up resilience and knowledge), in your theory.

A skykid on their own would be a blank canvas, though with time, they develop a personality. This personality is shown in their identity that the player projects through their skykids. The game helps showcase this with cosmetics and emotes.
Which shows when they are filled with light, and would fall away when near death.

It was late, which means emotions are heightened, and thoughts are just, bleh. So, I don´t know what happened to the ppl in arc, and that part isn´t too clear for me. I think some of them laned where abyss takes place. They started looking for the dark stones maybe to build a new town. In the mural drawings I found that the place used to be a mine. Maybe this place got corrupted too, so king krill started to attack. Also, What if krills actually are supposed to look like king kriill. King kriil lives DEEEEP in the ocean, so the storm didn´t reach it.....what do you think

So what I was trying to say with this mural was:

The ancestors held candles dearly, praising them as something along the lines of a religious artifact. They could have been symbolism of the stars, or of a living creatures life, though whether or not this theory of symbolism holds true is vague. But what I am certain about is that they were related to the stars and/or the light in some way, shape, and/or form.

Now why I don’t believe its the light seekers arriving into isle is because that isn’t a big enough event to be prophecised and given a mural, nor was it bug enough to impact history and thus be given a mural. Also, there seems to be a possible relation to candlemaker seeing the mural with their family, and them all then making candles, though thats just grabbing at loose strings.

Please tell me if anything doesn’t make sense and I’ll try to help after dinner.

You see one reason for getting rid of aviary was to get players started sooner, and all that complicated stuff with having two hub areas. But why not just get rid of the solo hub area and add all the friendship shrine and stuff to one of the floors in the aviary?
