I have returned after playing the final quest with my sister and finishing up one day late research paper and.....just.

That quest was full to the brim with lore. As well as fish. I don't even know where to begin.

So I'm going to just type.

So, spirits can drown, that is confirmed, though it should have also been expected seeing as we can drown. Ruby's mouth it red and full of ragged teeth like objects. It reminds me of the unstable red stone in eden. And what was that whole petrified spirit manta thing?! Was it eaten? Is it the soul of Ruby? Is it a separate living entity? I feel as though its more closely related to spirits, its the same color and can be petrified. And(as we saw at the start of the season) they have the same particle effects as spirits when giving us things or simply assembling stuff. But what is its connection to ruby? Also, the guide didn't ascend this time. Also, why was the inside of ruby exactly the same as the black room we enter when we die. DID WE DIE!!!!! Or maybe it was the mantas black room. If the manta was Ruby's soul, does every creatures soul take the shape of a manta? I also like how we lit up the manta's eye specifically, kind of proving that's where their light is stored.

This sparked the theory that every ancestor was born with a specific purpose and the specific talents needed to fulfill that purpose, and that sky kids only appear when there is something wrong, like the whole kingdom falling into darkness.

That is not a living manta. That manta is a beige cream and some sort of light teal or mint. Similar to spirits, blue and gold. I think it's still dead. Which doesn't surprise me as we see a spirit manta at the beginning of the season, it literally sacrificed itself so we could drown.

Taking the concept how at the end of eden, after we die we find a piece of light we have to hug.

The full headcanon/theory about Abyss' quests being a memory wipe

When we got to Treasure Reef, we confided with Abyss Guide and told them that we need to ascend the crew. They tell us the crew's story, and at some point, we realize that the only way to ascend them is to go into their memories and change them. They agree, we go into the crew's memories, and the quests start. In the first three quests, we blend into the crew with Abyss Guide's help and the others start seeing us as a real member of the crew.

5th quest spoilers
In the original timeline, Cannoneer dies of drowning and everyone knows this. However, to get the crew to ascend, we change the memory and rescue them. Now, to the crew, Cannoneer is safe, and with this weight off their shoulders, they can ascend.

Abyss Guide thanks us for helping the crew. However, since they were made aware of the memories being changed, the original timeline still weighs down on them, so they can't ascend just yet.

In the original timeline, the spirits couldn't save the paths, and that prevents them from ascending, so we became part of their memories and changed that.

Yes, but it's pretty far down and atleast outside of the cutscenes the pit grew more and more devoid of life the further you went down which to me atleast indicates most of the creatures in the shallows avoid going that far down. Besides that there doesn't seem to be much evidence to indicate it's the dive manta besides a correlation between both mantas being important to the season's story. Besides wouldn't it make more sense for the manta to be the spirit of the leviathan instead ? It is the one covered in darkness plants as opposed the metric ton of other mantas inside it (which is what I assume makes it so big)

While I am not allowed to show an in-game picture as an example, there is concept art that shows mantas can be corrupted. Which implies virtually any creature can become corrupted, especially if the leviathan is likely an elder creature.

It left a krill alone in the dome, and thankfully there were none in the leviathan when it spat out creatures (Monstor from Pinnochio style, or even like Jonah's big fish/whale).

So, given there are no new dark creature variant in the game, however there is concept art that shows it was considered. One can assume the leviathan would consume light creatures and either absorb their lights (killing them), or drain their light and corrupt them.

The reason it spat out light creatures is because us skykids saved the spirit manta and that caused the krill to everything out.

I already have an idea about an Isle season: Shopkeeper sailed to a new land and built a proto-Home, which is like a ruined version of the Aviary in the present. There are portals that lead to beta/ concept versions of realms, and there are spirits trapped inside them that you have to free. I can elaborate more if you want!

You have to alternate between all 3 modes: tagalong, helper, and leader. The best item to use when moth hunting is the table. That way, you can regularly take breaks and ask them if they have any questions about the story, mechanics, or controls

Tables are different from just unlocking the chat node: they allow you and the moth to take breaks and teach them valuable information. Because unless you’re a skilled flier, it’s difficult to move while talking

Luckily, I'm not heavily into the moth mother game, so I don't have to worry about it really.

Still, when I first started, I didn't pay attention to anything anyway. I didn't enter 'explore' mode until after I'd been through eden. Like, things were neat, but I was too confused to really do anything else beyond 'go for the goal'. Moths like me benefit from veterans essentially allowing us to shadow them.

When I was a moth, I didn’t care about the story- I just loved the beautifully designed world, but it meant that I got lost. Veterans can help by saying stuff like “See that mountain? i really love all the buildings we find around our paths, this realm cements how lively it used to be. When nobody is around and the music stops, the loneliness settles in.
And I will never stop gushing about the transition from forest to valley (emancipation) and from valley to wastelands (disenchantment).

Note that between these two murals, which elder using each one stays the same. Red and purple lights are not depicted at all in prophecy murals, which makes them a bit odd.

That leaves red and purple (void and mind). Vault is almost DEFINITELY purple light so that leaves red for isle elder, although what they used it for is unclear

About ascension specifically, the diamond and the light beam seem to be mutually exclusive. Important thing to note is that on the mural with the beam, the light beam appears last, implying the king somehow created it

Like we skykid can create a solid object/prop almost as that. While Elders are able to create their pocket dimensions. Meanwhile Lamed Vault Elder (as the stongest connection to Mind & Imagination) can widen her pocket dimension to several floors in Vault (even if each floor has a different sphere of surreality, each detaching more and more from the reality)

You should even have future seasonal areas utilize diving, just like how Flight utilized shared spaces. Maybe we could have a dusty, ancient lake in the Prophecy Cave, a secret underwater cave hidden in Forest, an icy area beneath Valley, etc.

Thought, even if your quest could be fruitful, there still seems to be a well shapes round base a the bottom sea floor, especially seen near the collumns parts, so maybe the floor was an ancient volcano (with crater located maybe in the colums part area)

Wild zoological idea, in ancient times Ancestoral Leviathans liked dark deepths with warm water, preferebly old magmatic chimney from unactive underwater volcanoes where waters were still warm

Geologically, the underground volcano raise into sealevel, becoming the island known and colonized by the Ancestors. After the catalysm of Eden /or similar event the volcanic island dived again, leave just the bay we see now in Treasure Reef (I think in beta it was called Crystal Bay)

Definitely seems as though the island could be the giant creature, if you look around underwater near the shores you can see those prongs on the bottom. And isn’t it weird that the beaches are so high above the bottom of the shallows? Also the right hand shallows has what appears to potentially be a head, but its too unclear to be certain.

in my notes, I've laid out the rules for skykids corruption for my fic

In my ficverse, corruption is rare because the conditions for it are unlikely. A theory of mine suggests that skykids’ bodies can only be damaged by something infused with darkness, like a krill tearing open the shell for the light inside, although the body quickly heals.

However if corrupted darkstone gets inside or embedded in the shell, it constantly sucks out whatever light is inside the skykid and can even risk putting out their flame. The corrupted skykid becomes hungry for light to starve off the darkstone. The longer it’s in them, the more it warps their mind and the most desperate and violent they’ll become, like krills.

They also lack cosmetics like hair because they don’t have enough light leftover from the corrupted darkstone to make it. They could have "black" hair if corrupted for long enough (like that pic of Lion in water trial).

The only way to cure a skykid of corruption is for them to ascend to Eden be reborn into an uncorrupted body.

That's actually kinda how I imagine a Corrupted Sky Kid would look, though maybe there would be a bit of blue or red in there like the Krills and Crabs

Blue seems to be associated with darkness plants while red only appears in Eden, so maybe the corruption phase shows in the eyes?

It starts out by the light turning blue, then it goes away to the faintest of glimmers, then the eyes turn red

As the red crystals spread throughout the inside of the body eventually they reach the eyes and in extreme cases start breaking through the shell/skin

What if this is what happened to that petrified sky kid in Eden who has crystals (blue) coming out of them? Once their flame was gone the red crystals turned blue and went inactive. Maybe they were trying to get to Eden for a new not corrupted body but it was too late

Suggested progression of corrupted skid:

1. inner flame turns blue and colors dull slightly
2. colors fade to grey
3. inner flame turns red
4. clothing/hair disappears like it does when a skid is extinguished
5. red crystals break through their outer shell in a number of places, and some eventually form hair-like protrusions on their head
6. you better get yourself reborn soon pal because you’re now a threat to other Sky kids-

I’m focusing on it from a narrative view, where corruption is an accident caused by darkstone or in the worst case scenario red crystal falling into the cracks in their shell

In one of my stories, I made a disease based off the red crystals which can only be caught due to prolonged exposure to them.

The disease causes the sky kid to gain sharper teeth, uses up more energy to perform activities and very spontaneously die without any chance of being reborn.

It's the kind of disease that corrupts the inner light from the inside out. The unpredictable time when it kills you is what makes it scarier
