also many believe he was the Prophecy trials winner, as well as the white child in the ushering stargazer's memory.

You can see them while descending from Orbit after the end credits.

Also in Orbit, you can see part of them facing the skykid constellation (blessing the skychildren? Reminds me of that painting of God creating Adam)

Are you sure the fire prophet is the one creating them though The spirit is indeed associated with the trial, but only the mask is depicted here. Unlike the elder statues, no other feature is on the Prophecy statues so in my opinion, it's possible the mask is associated with the prophet status & the trial, but the trial and mask aren't the prophet as a person, more like a persona they take on like the ones that could have come before them did.

On one hand, the real world parallel of meditating in a cave in front of a spirit animal statue would be a mental journey. On the other hand, the paintings portray the trials as places the challengers actually went to. I think in Sky that both can be true.

This is just concept art and may not represent the game anymore but imagine if someone from the human realm in the pic somehow perceived and had an experience in Sky realm. They might even feel physically present. It wouldn’t be considered all in the mind, nor would it be teleportation. Something in between.

It is pretty obvious that both Season of the Little Prince and Season of Flight have a very small connection to evil and darkness. This may or may not mean the next seasons will also have a connection with darkness. Thus, I consider it's inevitable that a season in the future will be centered around the idea of darkness.

Another interesting aspect about the Wind Paths is that it's literally connected to all realms and it got attacked by darkness. If we wouldn't have been able to burn away the darkness there, it could have been able to corrupt the other realms very easily.

For me, the reason they're sitting is to emphasize yhe severity of the storm. The Winged Lights that we see throughout the kingdom are all standing up which sorta paints the image that they're strong and resilient and by making them sit near the PNR, they want to show that the storm is no joke

Its not actually light and dark. Its connected and apathy. Which is like light creatures and ancestors. Warm colors and cool colors. Not darkness. Thats something else. I think its just normal to make souls blue. If it where yellow, it would look like a small fire, harder to tell its a soul, I think. Could mean something else but....I doubt it, but thats just myself personally....and yeah, it could be their hybrid aspect.

Perhaps they feel something strong regarding the matter and it leaves their impression. but if you like the "fragments of the king (OG sky kid potentially)" it makes a bit more sense in my jumbled up lore intern brain.

go for what feels best for you :) digging for concrete answers isnt gonna give you much. TCG has their own rumored "lore bible" to keep things consistant to a degree, but as players its left very open ended.

the amount thats actually canon is... minimal at best. TGC seems to value letting us think and come to our own decisions and values. For someone whos spent years digging into fandom lore its been a new experience for sure, but its fun, and we all enjoy discussing possibilities :) i know there should be some docs in the Pins and if youre lucky, someone will appear with their google doc in the morning haha

Sorta headcanon-y, but one way I think of winged light is that they function analogous to spirit memories — they’re not the same, obviously, but are functionally similar. After freeing a spirit from darkness, their memories can be relived all the way to their petrified form. Likewise skykids pass winged light to their petrified peers in Eden to free them. Perhaps winged light carries knowledge or memories of past skykids who once collected the same light themselves.

Unclear ! The shield theory only shows there were two sides, one defending the temple (that may have put the barriers we prominently see in Battlefield but also in other places in the realm) who seems to recede deeper in the realm as the battle grows more intense, and another that attacked them (the catapult in graveyard could have been used to destroy walls).

Nothing really proves the involvement of another realm though, but if Valley was part of the conflict, then going off it's placement I'd headcanon it to be part of the latter group.

...Actually I know someone irl who loves war strategy, worth drawing a rough map of wastelands and showing him, but I'm not sure the devs depicted a landscape accurately scarred by war more than one we can have fun navigating in.

My HC is that the sunburst shields+spears are the ones who believe that light creatures should not be exploited to the degree of caging them and juicing them for light, and the diamond shields think the status quo should continue

But which side does Valley take? I think they had a history of capturing light from Orbit/a source in the sky, based on their geographical location as one of the highest elevations in the kingdom.

Gold also seems to have a purpose of attracting light creatures and perhaps the creation of refined darkstones (aka the diamonds)

Light creatures could be associated with what heals/energises/fills you with hope as they follow you through your journey, especially since they are prominent in Prairie, which is a realm associated with childhood (reminder all the realms are associated with stages of life). It would make sense that they are less sacred in Wastelands, which is midlife adulthood.
Could symbolize the conflict of ideals between the youth who didn't get used to a terrible world and wants to change it for the better, and the older ones who undermine their efforts because to them, things have and always should work the way they know it, and the status quo is either too painful to question or something they rely on.

I headcanon dark stone is a means to easily transport light, kind of like batteries. Without darkstone/batteries, light/electricity can't really be handled by the average Joe.

it's possibly kept afloat by the updraft present in the area. This updraft conveniently recharges Sky kids, and an updraft also shows up in Bird's Nest

Don’t think the updraft itself in birds nest powers skykids but rather the sheer amount of light creatures present in the area. They even recharge at the wind paths. After completing all the Flight quests, there’s more light creatures and the recharge is faster.
As for the citadel, it may also be full of light that powers the orreys, tho there are less light creatures there compared to Bird’s Nest and the Wind Paths

I think they’re offerings. There’s a good few murals around the game that show orbs being taken somewhere. I’m not sure if they’re meant to be offerings for the king, or to the megabird, or to the elders. But they seem like gifts to something or someone. I think devs said that the choice to release a chill season like Sanctuary was meant to be just a break from Real Life (2020) so not everything maybe should be taken canonically (indeed I was curious why they add cargo pants and sunglasses)

i'd like to think that candles are the skykids' source of light/what makes them stay alive
Because when we stay on the rain/the weird water thing for some time, and when we pull out our candle while we're in it, The fire goes poof and our skykid goes
Since we lose all of our winged light when we get krilled, on the rain, being on gw water, any other ways of losing wl (or going to eden) we go to the pity room
but what would happen if our candle gets destroyed? Cant the skykids rebirth if their candles break?
Since at the end of the credits we see a candle, that is probably our candle and it got re-lit when we hugged the little kid in the eden pity room.
im confused about this, do our candles get destroyed when we go to eden/lose all of our winged light? And get fixed when we hug the kid/get the winged light...?

There is a common headcanon that if a skykid’s red candle breaks, they’ll die permanently. It’s mostly been used for angst.

I’m not a fan of that one cos it doesn’t make sense to me. Skykids can manifest and demanifest those red candles at will, much like other cosmetics, which are made of light. The candle itself may be a physical manifestation of light so skykids can hold their flame outside their bodies. If they run out of light, they can’t hold out their flame and there is no candle.

I think instead they need their flame itself — not necessary the red candle, which represents and maneuvers the flame — to function mostly. I say mostly because even if their flame has gone out, skykids can keep moving to find a light source to “rekindle their flame.” Yet even if they don’t relight right away yet stay out of harms away, they can still function.

However most if not all skykids have winged light. It grants their cape power and ability to fly. Additionally if their flame has gone out, they still have winged light. If they don’t rekindle their flame and are still wrought in darkness/krill/polluted water/corrupted darkstone, then they start losing winged light. It’s only once they lose all their winged light and their flame goes out that they petrify and die.

Perhaps they need light in general to function, as you mentioned. their flame serves as a constant source of light if light is otherwise unavailable.

Candles are prob just how we can divide up and count light. I know we collect “wax” to forge candles, but we also collect “wax” from things that are not candles this shouldn’t have wax, like fires and the hot spring. They cannot be wax. So it’s likely this “wax” that makes candles is just light itself we can collect, classify, numerate, and manifest into candles not necessary made of wax, rather light.

Think of it like money. Say I have $100, that’s an intangible amount of money. To make it tangible, we have nonfungible pieces of currency that add up to $100, whether it be one $100 bill, five $20 bills, ten $10 bills, a various assortment of coins, or even a mix of it all. All together in my hand I would be holding $100. I could even write a $100 check. but that is $100 out of a whole mass of money that circles the global economy physically and virtually.

Light is like money. It is intangible, a mass of something. We can divide it into many parts that add up to a total. Like bills and coins, we use candles to represent an amount of light to purchase or make cosmetics.

Our flame may be a tangible thing, whether it manifests as the light in skykids’ chest or the red candle, but it is, at the end of the day, light in the mass of light. skykids produce the red candle to maneuver, distinguish, and represent that specific piece of light.

There’s a piece of Zhao’s concept art that illustrates skykids as a blend of light and dark. When I find it, I’ll bring it here (edit: attached below). However darkness may not in it of itself be bad/evil. Like you said, there may be a yin & yang situation going on here; two forces that can coexist peacefully when in balance. They could even complement each other — you cannot have darkness without the concept light, but you cannot have light without the concept of darkness.

Unfortunately, that balance between light and darkness in the Sky kingdom has been disrupted. Darkness is taking up more space than it should, causing problems. But it is not bad for being unbalanced, the lack of balance is bad. Balance is good.

If skykids are a blend of light and dark, they do not have to do “dark” or evil things on top of the “light” or good things they do because neither are inherently good or evil. Perhaps they exist to restore balance to the world, to tame the force of darkness so light can peacefully coexist with it again. skykids having darkness within them means they are able to understand/comprehend darkness and able to put it back in place.

Given that skykids are literally made of light, their hair may just be white cos it’s a physical manifestation of light. Everything, from their capes to their cosmetics, is made of light. But newborn moths have few, simple colors. They may not have the experience or ability to manifest different colors of light on their person.

And they’re definitely newborn because it’s the first time they are born, not reborn. That’s why they fall at/are redirected to the Isle and to the introduction cave, cos they don’t know anything really.

But they may not age. Granted skykids prob haven’t been around long enough to see if they age or not, but they don’t seem to physically age (functionally biological immortality).

Skykids seem not to be biological, organic beings. They have no mouths; no need to eat, drink, or sleep (they can do these things but seem to have no instinct to need to do these things); can only grow by using potions; are sustained by light, light magic, and light energy; and are not hurt by things that would normally hurt humans or animals (no fall damage, easily recover from crashing into solid objects at high speeds). Therefore I don’t believe they can physically age, although they haven’t been around long enough to observe physical aging.

—their flame, manifesting as their red candle and the light in their chest
—their soul.

It still needs a bit of work, for instance, their cape seems to be a manifestation of winged light in particular, but winged light also enters and exits them by the hole in their chest, which is why i have it that their winged light is in their shell..

In my ficverse, corruption is rare because the conditions for it are unlikely. A theory of mine suggests that skykids’ bodies can only be damaged by somethjng infused with darkness, like a krill tearing open the shell for the light inside, although the body quickly heals.

However if corrupted darkstone gets inside or embedded in the shell, it constantly sucks out whatever light is inside the skykid and can even risk putting out their flame. The corrupted skykid becomes hungry for light to starve off the darkstone and the longer it’s in them, the more it warps their mind and the most desperate and violent they’ll become, like krills.

They also lack cosmetics like hair because they don’t have enough light leftover from the corrupted darkstone to make it.

Devs confirmed that krills are corrupted light creatures, though we don’t know what they originally were. Some think it was the creature in the Switch trailer but it seems too small.

The creature is very much still alive, but lacking light. One of the hints on the title screen says that krill like the light inside skykids, hence why they attack them, so being a creature of light deprived of light may make them desperate for light.

But back to lore, perhaps the winged light, while not sentient, understands it needs you to bring it to Eden & that if you're out of light, they are your last barrier before imminent death/game over, so they sacrifice themselves (echoing your ultimate sacrifice in the Storm).

Since skykidz are like ✨ F I R E ✨ and cold is like- not good for them- the rain would probably hurt them, because like, it's cold ❄️
In my perspective, if a skykid is flying, the rain obscures their path, and they have trouble flying through, so they lose their energy/light

And generally the rain is cold and all, so they need light sources to get through
Water isn't harmful to them, since it doesn't really hurt them in any way (unless it's DARKNESS) so they can go through it easily

At the same time, the castle in Orbit only has five structures connected by a bridge, while this has nine and no bridge.

but there are clearly five stars that could mark the five main spires of the castle, and those those six structures around the king could be the bridges.

I think the murals inside the Cave Of Prophecies tell two stories, one about how they created the trials after 3-4 stars fell and another one about one a certain kid (prince or a fallen star) who was the once pass the trials and ignite the triumph of the kingdom

Two parallels, one appearing after each quests and one appearing only if (after the Fire Trial) you lit the braciers on the floating stones

Then there's the foreshadowing of the catastrophe which I simply figure out of one krill emerging from the clouds

And maybe other pieces of prophecies are the 4 murals outside the Cave, in the corridor, which can be seen either like as where the 4 elements will be found by us during Enchantment Quests (in a distant future from the present of prophets) or maybe where they spotted the four elements in the first place

Each stop on the elevator represents a realm in Sky. Their constellations are shown after you complete their floor. Ground floor is sandy and grounded and flat and represents Isle. Second floor has floating islands and a door and represents Prairie. Third floor has trees and represents Forest. Fourth floor has fancier roofed structures and two distinct “neighborhoods” of floating platforms and represents Valley. Fifth floor has skeletons and elder creatures as well as some creatures shrouded by darkness, and represents Wasteland. Vault summit has that structure which we later find out represents that same platform in Eden.
I assume it was the meeting room in Eden for all the Elders.

The season does involve re-exploring a Prophecy, so maybe the prophets saw the stars falling and depicted that here, but they may have fallen after the golden prodigy completed all the quests

Where am I going with that ? The similarity between the golden prodigy worshipped by ancestors and the Eden Elder worshipped by ancestors leads me to give in to the popular theory they are one and the same.

I like to think the golden prodigy is an Elder, but they got shattered upon impact (perhaps something similar to the theory the valley twins come from the same entity) and their shards, who landed either in places farther away or in isle as well became the elemental powers.

Maybe, like a sky kid, they had no recollection of who they were until they gathered the elements back (hence the halos and floating poses making the act look like an awakening), which they gifted to the elders afterwards. Maybe they went to gather their last piece atop the Eden mountain...

About things that people is prone to let pass unnoticed, I just saw a new picture in screenshots about the baby pancakes mantas frozen in midair around Sanctuary Bells

Which reminds me about the tiny details of lore from SoFlight

Those baby mantas are visible since Sanctuary, but they're always spinning, so you can't see them clearly. Thanks to Light Whisperer we can see one of them in her hands before it can finally take off healed

Those babies have a single dorsal horn, very similar to the horns on king/queen mantas (those 4-winged which are able to carry us to 3-Waterfalls Island).
It seems little but I think it's another element which can tie to Vault floor 5, where the 4 lanterns are on a multi-winged cosmic mantas. Any light creature in Sky grows in its own way like these baby-pancake into king/queen mantas and like multi-wings babies flying around their mother.

I think it proves that each species doesn't evolve into another when it's big enough (in a pokèmon evolution way), maybe as a concept art suggests each evolve into another , yes, BUT maybe only after a certain number of ascensions

or maybe that concept was scrapped from the start

In Zhao’s concepts, the Sky world is located above the human world, in the clouds (pictured below). However now that doesn’t make sense given the oceans, so perhaps that idea didn’t survive development. Perhaps Sky is its own planet in its own right

Speaking of “mysterious statues with little to no purpose,” I recognized that the new statue in Prairie looks a lot like the statue in Forest that can take us to Homespace, but it’s broken

Both are different statues
The forest one is a bird statue, if you look from the side it has been there since the beginning of the game it used to offer cosmetics but now it just teleports you home. There's one in battlefield.
The prairie one is new, it's supposed to be a trigger for guide feature but ut never worked.

augh. Slow mode always getting my goat. okay here. from the credit scene. youll notice theres two planets. one blue in colour, one more orangey. these planets, potentially, could be the Sky planet we run around on and the Journey planet.

These are the only planets ive seen in the credits, and considering sky is Journeys "spiritual successor" i wouldnt be surprise if it was a nod to the two games TGC made with immensely similar themes

the blue planet is SUPER close to what we think is megan, so it would be sky, whereas the older game, Journey, is further away. I think the colours of the planets themselves also hint at this, sky being full of water and clouds, journey being a desert.

iirc those are the only two planets that show up, but Megabird manifests at the end of the credits, after our perspective seems to fall away for some time. Most have interpreted that as the skykid watching themself descend back to the Sky world as a falling star, but that’s a theory in it of itself.

The wasteland elder statue used to be outside the temple in light awaits and it used to break in half after the cutscene right where the fracture on the statue is, he was supposed to open the gate to the fortress that's why the cutscene is outside the temple

Also one eye of the statue is blue and the other is yellow suggesting the wasteland elder is half corrupted like they were in the concepts. I'm not sure if it's still blue and yellow

And when I scrolled up to one of the messages from one of the ppl from last year, when I was still new, I realized ppl here kinda had the exact same view I had about Megabird. Ok but headcanon: every living thing on Sky (the sprits, you, and elders) is non-binary or doesn’t even know what gender is.

I once thought that the summit of Vault was torn off and that it ended up there where we see the elders altars/tombstones in Eden Castle, but I spotted that from the entering of Eden you van see the sphere over the Vault Tower (which intact and exactly how depucted in Isle Temple murals of the 6 Temples in the 6 Realms)

So the truth could be that the summit we see in the floors we explore are memories and illusions in a more and more dreamlike dimension (we always enter pocket dimensions when we meet an Elder afterall)
And the real last floor of Vault is the one we end up after that pocket dimension, where we can either go Home or to Eden (no really broke after all)

Another player here in lore underlined how since we enter Vault there are reminescents of all realms we visited in each floor
Sand like in Isle, floating platforms and door like in Prairie, trees like in Forest, floating buikdings like in Valley, bones like in Wasteland, then the Elders Altars is a little more elevated then floor 6 and maybe symbolized Eden, where you spotted those Altars in midair

In could be that the original altars was really in Eden (and if you are able to land there in that OOB you can see those tombstones are mpre huge than those in Vault) and the first we see could be just a memory of the original one

Fun fact, in early concept of the game the realms were more related to stages of life (birth, chikdhood, teenage... , and you can see a board of those concepts in Office near the kitchen table) so the Vault might be really tied to memories of the senile ages or dreams of the night (last stage of the realms daytime after, Dawn, Day, Rain, Sunset, Dusk. In one step of development those were even placeholder names for each realm)

It could be underground but it think it is not mostly under, I think of it more like a tower, the most bulking and thick one, after all, in Isle Temple corridors a mural show its form to be a tower

i agree with you jam. we definitely have to be able to come to an agreement over what we'd like to pursue in lore and what we want to drop. Do we include the stuff in beta? probably not. Light awaits isnt the game anymore, so does that story have any influence? Do we agree to keep the concepts from that or drop it? Do we only stick with whats in game, in LIVE? what about concept art? trailers?

youre making a good point by saying we need to come together and mutually agree on what to work on instead of trying to throw ideas from three versions of the game and then concept art.

just an addition, in case you find it interesting.

This is how I tried to explore it, but it's hard to tell where you can put your feet (I used the pillow to drop it ahead), depending on camera angle your warm and bright colors pillow can disappear even still under your nose

Plus there can be some spots not at the same height of this bridge plain..

I could almost reach the Flight wind signpost, but then clouds lift me up and I got stuck in a sort of "deca pitation"
