If you are referring to the memory to relive of this spirit, then yes. It is one of the memories that does not show the spirit but instead fragments that fly about the citadel area.

Come to think of it... It is possible?
I know these are fragments as they are very similar to the fragments you gather in the races.
I am not sure why the spirit would recall these fragments. It is a fun memory to play with (though I miss the time when all the fragments were out at once instead of one at a time), it is an odd memory.

I doubt the fragments are/were mantas if the spirit is a manta whisper.

Jelly whisperer has full spirits in their memory.
Crab walker's memory is completed in a similar way as the fragment memory, though instead of collecting fragments, you collect the spirits memories spread throughout the crab caves and you can complete the memory in any order.

The way a memory is relived could depend on how the spirit remembers or possibly how they died.

i think it varies to the spirits memory, and what their expression is trying to tell us?
like for example the Lookout Scout, we find the spirit climbing through the ruins of the Battlefield and searching from something. the memory's cutscene ends with him blowing his horn as perhaps an act of calling for someone? im not really sure what's behind the horn call thing

what if the ancestors were not the ones to complete a pilgrimage?
Most of them seemed content on living in one place, so it would not make sense if all of them had to got to eden unless they have to.

Some theorise he would be the first skykid.

I agree with you stating that us skykids are doing this pilgrimage.
What makes things a bit uncertain is how one spirit memory shows a falling star (beckoning stargazer), which could either mean the ancestor found a skykid in dawn, or a winged light, or even the sky prince.
It is clear that each spirit had aspirations, whether it was working in their memories, or interacting with other spirits. And worshipped their respective elders, but how did the corruption exactly break the world?
Would any of the spirits that would have appeared in eden might help answer it?
That place is really odd to not have spirits, elders, end temple. It has nothing left except the krill and the red rocks.

vestal lichen
# nimble ingot I agree with you stating that us skykids are doing this pilgrimage. What makes t...

i see the Prince as the first skykid there was and an elder alongside with the others, perhaps more dominant compared to the rest being the Eden elder himself and known as the King in sky lore. so perhaps that could just be another one of the ancestors?

and about corruption, through my theory i can only say that it all started with the use of Darkstone which evolved into becoming even worse as time goes and in the end, the King thought it'd be a good idea to construct a big one and put it in the center of Eden (which i refer to be all of the realms in one) which is now known as the Eye of Eden, im not sure what the purpose is but i can only say that the King's fantasy of ruling against Megabird was lingering through his mind all the time, and his obsession with Darkstone technology is another reason why he's lost his mind aswell, to the point where he had lost contact with Megabird and forced her to bring down the stars which eventually led to the downfall of the realms of Sky

nimble ingot
#

that is a good theory.
The old lore laid things out so nicely, but the trouble is that parts of it has been changed. So now it is either the case of rebuilding the lore from scratch, or either reviewing parts of the old lore.

Thankfully the major point of the darkstone being used is still valid, so it is safe to assume that the ancestor used it and corrupted the world.
The elders on the other hand are odd. On the one hand, they are larger than the spirits, have similar designs but are clearly more powerful than the ancestors.
One can say they could be blessed or chosen by the king/megabird to rule over the realms, though it still leaves the 7th elder being missing.

With the concept art considered, there is the case of a prince, a king, and an elder. One can assume it being one person filling in each role (they were born, grew up and became an elder), or it being the case or 2 or 3 different people.

I have too many questions to ask, and not enough answers, lol.

It just feels like the final chapter is being purposefully held back. And while the plot was pretty clear in Light Awaits in hindsight.
In Sky: children of light, the story is changing too much and left without an ending.

vestal lichen
#

thats the problem, for now
i honestly hope they just add more to it in the future so maybe we can understand things more in the future

nimble ingot
#

Yeah, I am sure a lot of skykids have ideas of what spirits in eden would look like, or even have an idea of what happened to the king and where he is.

vestal lichen
#

if we really got to see the King himself in-game this would probably be what it'd look like but it sadly wasn't put in the game, perhaps due to it being too much for mobile devices to handle
but maybe, just maybe we could have these in the game

nimble ingot
#

Agreed.
In interviews, the devs did discuss how they had to work around the limitations of mobile platforms.
Sure, it could be easier to move over to console or PC, but TGC supposedly insists on breaking the stereotypes of game being violent, and not working well on mobile games (from my understanding and opinion).
Implementing the King would surely signify the end of the story in Sky. If the king is saved, the skykids have no more use.
One could say that the king can be saved and the skykids could stay and help the king. But then the mystery is solved and players would lose interest.

Since you brough out that art, I wanted to hear your thoughts on what the king was doing there.
I heard people say the king was against the skykids. But I strongly disagree.

Back to the king in eden.
The king looked like he was fighting something. One can see something in the background that looks like an old concept of the krill or some flying corrupted creature.
Up to the point of the skykid reaching him, he was trapped.

Even though that concept art is likely never going to be used in the current game, it did look like an epic scene.
That is probably the one down side of sharing concept art. You get to see all the work and ideas the devs had going on. But not all of the ideas and design would make to the final product for various reasons.

Valley has dark plants in the temple itself, it is the only place where the dark plants are.

Each realm represents a stage in life.
Dawn is Birth, Daylight is Childhood, Forest is Adolescences, Valley is Adulthood, Wasteland is mid life, Vault is elderly and Eden is Death.
You are on the right path with dawn. Also, each realm represented an age/or stage in development in civilisation.

Valley of Triumph is a competitive realm where people are driven to fulfil their dreams or live a successful career.
Personally, I see there being two aspects in the realm. Similar to how the realm has 2 elders, there is the races, and there is entertainment.
You can see these 2 aspects in effect with the seasonal spirits (season of rhythm and the girl in season of dreams) being performers and the main cast of spirits being like gladiators who show off their skills.

Hope this helps.

nimble ingot
lyric oyster
#

Oo cool cool!! Was there a reason the previous skykids came down to earth? Like the spirits with the capes, not us. Like is there a reason they came down? Or were they sent down?

nimble ingot
#

In my opinion, the skykids arrived when the stars fell as the megabird sent them down (megabird is a deity in the game that give light and life. You can see it in orbit by looking up and in the mural in the water that surrounds the portal to Office, in Vault).
Some spirits have capes, though I am not sure how they would get them or if they can fly with them. SkyShrug

When the world broke from the corruption, the cycle of life was broken as spirits are not able to pass on. In the beta of sky (light awaits) the skykids used to carry the emotes of spirit to orbit instead of winged light. Now, skykids can keep their emotes and help spirits ascend and return the winged light to orbit in exchange for ascended candles to help more spirits.

[theory] Eye of Eden is a play on the phrase 'Eye of the Storm.'
The reason for it is likely because of the old name for Eden was Storm.

As for the Eden part, it is possibly because of the realm being like a divine paradise, but something when terribly wrong.

# nimble ingot <@!486479635341639680> [theory] Eye of Eden is a play on the phrase 'Eye of the ...

Interesting. I always interpreted it as “eye of the world,” meaning that Eden is actually the name of all of Sky, not just the realm. (Kind of like if you say “the eye of the island,” you wouldn’t mean “the island” you would mean “the center of the island”) this makes more sense to me since the rest of the world is much more of a paradise than what we call Eden, which is actually pretty much ||hell|| but I think both interpretations make sense

nimble ingot
#

@mossy pagoda
It was "eye of the Storm," not world.
Though you are not wrong about Eden being the centre of the world (of the whole game).
Continuing what I said about Eden meaning a paradise, on earth. The fact that the place is so desolate (hellish) could represent where everything went wrong.
Unlike the other realms, Eden does not have an elder at the end of the realm present, let alone a complete temple.
So, yeah the fact that the name is the opposite of what the realm looks like gives it more contrast literally and figuratively (the lighting being so sharp and intense).

mossy pagoda
#

That would imply the whole world of sky is the storm, because Eye of Eden is still the eye of it. The only place in the world that is actively storming is Eden (unless you count forest ig but that’s a different storm) so the whole Eye of Eden can’t act as the middle of the storm (plus it’s not calm, and you’d think it would be calm given what the eye of a storm actually is) again even if the realm was originally called Eden before the apocalypse, you still wouldn’t call it the Eye of Eden because it IS Eden that’s… am I insane or does that not make sense? Like, grammatically? I think they just called it Eye of Eden because of the reasons you said, but to actually interpret it it has a different meaning

I just came over curious about the geography of the world of Sky, because much of it and how it all connects is covered in clouds or blocked by winds. It would be cool if a future version of Sky had a whole cohesive map where you could get anywhere without using portals, if you know the way and have the skills.

nimble ingot
# mossy pagoda That would imply the whole world of sky is the storm, because Eye of Eden is sti...

Ok, now I follow what you are saying.
It is true that the final area in Eden (point of no return) would not make sense to be called 'eye of eden,' as in ' eye of the storm' if an eye of a storm, in real life, is calm.
Also, you saying that the storm could be present in every realm, might have some evidence to support this.
A storm, no matter how large and devastating, would have an effect on a wider area than where the worst of the storm takes place. That said, it might explain why there are clouds in every realm. it could be the clouds being shifted by, or created by the storm, but it is so far out of the dangerous region, the clouds are less charged by the storm but still has enough energy to charge skykid capes. SkyThink

Side tangent for Vault, it would make sense for it to not have clouds because it looks like it is indoors. I am not forgetting the clouds in the secret area leading to the office portal though. One can argue that place is either an anomaly (exception) to the indoors means no cloud statement, especially since it is a transition to the outdoor area for office, hence why it is hidden behind a wall. So, in short, vault has clouds, but it is not present the further in you go in that realm because it is an indoor space.
That is my head canon at least about that.

From an artistic perspective, how Eden contrasts the name with the level design (as in how the level is the opposite of what the name means) oddly makes sense. Making a contrast like that makes that detail stand out from the rest. It makes it seem more important and gives things a new meaning. If one follows along the story of sky, each realm is ruled by an elder that has a job to do. When something went wrong in the world (the explosion/corruption) one can see that Eden is where it all began.

Hope this helps.

Agreed!
Some portals (not the stone frame ones, but the ones that vaguely looks like the next area) does show how the devs were trying to make the whole map without loading zones. Though understandably the phones running the game might not be able to load the whole realm at once.

Hopefully when it is released on other platforms, possibly as a second version of the game, it could be remastered to be more of an open world where skykids can travel as far to their little flaming hearts content.

So into the subject, what's the consensus about the golden character in the final cutscenes of the cave of prophecy ? One group said it's the first sky kid, some said it's the prince/king and others say it's both. I personally place my bets on prince/king.
About Eden, did you notice how that character seems to... activate ? the mountain (you can even see the Vault Elder behind them) that becomes Eden. Perhaps they used the elemental powers they got during the trials before giving them away (as gifts to earn the favors of 4 elders perhaps)...

Also, I noticed how the cave paintings at the entrance depict the fire element raging through a forest (you can even see flames producing smoke). In the final painting, you can see the Forest Elder summoning the rain with the element of water !

woah, ok. Let's see.
Hopefully other folks can chime in.
First off, the lore here is mostly fan theories or speculation as the game is open to interpretation and few parts of the current lore is canon (ergo confirmed by TGC staff).

The glowing character in the prophecy caves could be a winged light, or the first skykid, which would include the king.
The lives of the spirits in season of prophecy took place in the past. So it is likely that the prophecy already came true, that or it did not happen yet. SkyShrug

About Eden and 'activating characters,' I have no clue what you mean by that. If you are referring to the murals? Though still not sure what you mean exactly by that.

And lastly, yes. There are some theories going about how the elders received elements that do not match their realms (ex. Forest elder receiving fire instead of what one would assume should have been water).

Would you like a screenshot ? It's indeed a cave painting, the one you unlock after the trial of air (I think). The painted mountain "lights up" after the fire trial though.

And lastly, yes. There are some theories going about how the elders received elements that do not match their realms (ex. Forest elder receiving fire instead of what one would assume should have been water).
To me, it looks more like the fire element was raging in the forest level but ultimately given to the Wastelands Elder, making room for the Forest Elder to estinguish the flames with water.
You can even see which elders got which element (interestingly Vault and Isle Elder didn't get any but I suppose it's because their realms aren't as expensive as the others).

Imo, it could be the light beam we see in eden. The one we moved towards and rise with to ascend.

Sjmilar to how Journey has a mountain that bridges the mortals with the heavens and how reachjng the top represents the person rising to a new state of mind (ascending or achieving a new stage in their lives).

Sky has a mountain like landmark we move towards. Though it has a structure built on top of it and a beam of light.

That light beam could represent a spirital path to orbit (heaven or ascension or to the stars as the game mentions), or be a calling beacon for skykids to move towards.

Yeah that's definitely Eden.

Also I found this, wish you could land to take a better look but the camera takes over shortly after that. Perhaps the thrones we see in vault is possibly a recreation of the thrones we see here. A recollaction from the vault elder's memory of eden temple.
We do see the real top floor after the elder's scene, so if that room is supposed to be the vault elder's then that one is likely the eden elder's, since he rules over the other elders? SkyShrug

and how kamilico’s collage shows the motif of the megabird showing up subtly through the winged light icon and the arrow posts in the daylight prairie, i’d think that it’s more of an elusive/widely not understood deity that has maybe only revealed itself a few times to the ppl of sky

or maybe the elders knew more about the megabird before the realms fell, and then through the realms falling and the passage of time the knowledge was lost so only few traces of it remain pEyes just a thought

the vault being a dream theory is rlly interesting, i forgot who said it but i def think that the first few floors of the vault + archives are real bc of the solidity of them, and the fact that there are actual walls n stuff

i think it’s when the mantas start showing up is probably when it transitions to a dream since they look very dreamlike and in those levels the “reality” is sort of falling apart, ur just in endless starry darkness and the solidity of the walls and platforms of the first few levels is waning, even the lanterns are no longer rooted to any sort of solid structure and are instead free-floating

i have no idea what the dream would be about though, or what it’s trying to convey, or what significant knowledge you’re supposed to be gaining there, but it’s definitely an interesting theory

and idk if it’s just me but there’s something about the 4th level vault music that’s very melancholic to me, idk something about the arrangement of the instruments + the very celestial/dreamlike environment makes it seem almost like you’re remembering something u lost or are close to losing something

but then the music in the 5th level and temple have a more triumphant feel to them?? there’s a much larger swell of instruments in the music and u feel victorious riding the mantas up to the top so maybe it signifies enlightenment? but then the vault elder looks very somber and sad so idk

also recently for some reason the music stopped in the vault for me at the 4th level, and wow lemme just say that doing the 4th and 5th levels and the final descent to the temples in pure silence is very isolating, even though i was with another person. everything feels so empty and distant

Hi Hana
Any lore to discuss?

rigid mural
#

The devs confirmed elders are ancient and ageless. I like to believe the ancestors do not predate the fall of the elders on the clouds, but this begs the question about what are they doing in Orbit; I don't think they can be lesser fallen stars because that would have been noteworthy in the intro.
My theory is that they come from the elders themselves; we know the latters have enough importance and power to have constellations and temples dedicated to them, so perhaps the ancestors saw the elders as their own ancestors ? Kinda like kings tracing their lineage from deities, but this time it's real. After all, they could have been created with light or stardust.

nimble ingot
#

hm...
can you show where you got the statement of the elders being ancient or ageless?
I follow what you mean by the ancestor worshipping the elders or their respective realms, as well as the king (as seen in the symbols him being everywhere).
It is interesting how the megabird is present though there are little images of it from the ancestor. Unless it is done with the candles, but still.

Is it possible for the ancestors to forget the megabird and worship the king more, and by forgetting something important to maintain the balance of life, the darkness got to dominate the world?

rigid mural
#

can you show where you got the statement of the elders being ancient or ageless?
Got me here, I'm repeating what I saw on tumblr. It was from a stream so I didn't bother to fact check, apparently they also said they were genderless.

Perhaps they worshipped the ancestors who themselves were subordinate to megabird, but as the king got their favor instead, megabird was replaced by the king.

Elders fell as stars in the opening cut scene at the very start of the game (now see in the first cave murals in dawn). So, they are similar/related to skykids, though are much bigger and more powerful than skykids.
So, they could be from the megabird?

We have a megabird, and even though this is a fan nickname, there is theoretically a megakrill.

Just to recap: megabird is the divine deity in sky, giver of life and light.
And the megakrill is a theory one can see evidence of in the shipwreck area in wasteland. Where there are 2 massive dark horns pierce the stone ship.

So, what if there was a megakrill that exists in eden. And further what if it would fight the megabird?

Ok, so the old intro showed all but the Eden elder (king - as in the person with a glowing head) fell, but it does seem like all 7 made their kingdoms in the clouds.
While the new intro does not show it, it is assumed that the eden elder either did fall with the others, or stayed in the heavens but the kingdom was built none the less.

It is open to interpretation, therefore for my head canon, the eden elder did not fall. And because of that is either no present in the world (earth), or lost in the darkness.

It is weird, but everyone can draw their own interpretations on it.

not sure if i understood what you said but i think the elders are guides for the spirits, for profession in life, and where to go in death. we see the spirits being beamed off the elders temples star trek style, being released to the afterlife like the sky kids you save in eden. orbit if orbit is what im thinking of (just before the sky kids throw candles at you i think), then maybe the location is out of time and space, so thats why you see the spirits in orbit every time, because since theres no time there you went in the same time as them

What’s Wasteland or what used to be wasteland? It looks old and destroyed and there are many krills there
What used to be?
Also, there’s a boat, that means Wasteland was like Prairie or something?

#

And we are the only ones in sky
Because the spirits were humans, but they died?
What happened?
Sorry for my bad English, I’m trying to explain the best I can.
PES_SadCat

#

I have questions but let me remember them and then I’ll ask SkyWhew SkyWhew

nimble ingot
#

ok, I'll give a rundown to answer you question take note these are going to be theories read from this channel, a few headcanons and speculation. In short, fanon (not confirmed lore), so it is open to interpretation.

Wasteland is the 5th realm in sky. The game follows different stages of life such as dawn-birth, daylight-childhood, forest-adolescence, valley-adulthood, wasteland-midlife, Vault-elderly and Eden-death.
Sky also roughly follows the stages of how civilisation developed over time. That said, Wasteland basically was an industrial factory but later on became a warzone for several reasons.
Some say it is because the light creatures became so corrupted, they started attacking the ancestors (the spirits), or there was two factions that did not get along (as seen in the battlefield area, the place right outside the temple.

The krill are the corrupted creatures (that is at least confirmed to be canon). And Wasteland is infested by them.

As for the boat (I am assuming you are referring to the boats in general), boats are the main form of transportation to the ancestors. You can see them being used all the way back in dawn.

(I'll happily answer the other questions you have) 🙂

tepid oxide
rigid mural

Concept art had the light creatures attacking the civilization

tepid oxide
#

I already remembered something.
At the beginning of the game it is seen that we live on the sky, and there are places on it. But where is the Earth? Can Isle of Down be the gateway to the clouds or something? I think Valley is a floating place in the clouds

Are Skykids humans or magic kids? We don’t need to eat or sleep, we don’t even talk. We just honk. And our color skin is like black and we use masks
we don’t open our eyes lol
And I don’t think we can live without our capes

nimble ingot
# tepid oxide And we are the only ones in sky Because the spirits were humans, but they died?...

Your English is fine, bud 🙂
Feel free to ask as I go.

Us skykids are the only living descendants in sky. The little prince is an exception to that fact as he is not from Sky and is part of a collaboration.

The ancestors used to live in the different realms and dedicated a lot of their time in developing their civilisation and worshipping their respective elders of their realms. You can see offering left to them in some temples in the form of candles or vases, or used their temples to improve their lives (like in forest, the temple used to create power diamonds which you see in doors, boats and stands to activate).

(Again, this is may not be accurate)
The history of sky (outside of the game) had changed over the time through its beta till now. When you would research the history of sky, you might come across a timeline that went like this, though summarised:
The megabird (the divine deity of Sky, giver of light and life) used to rule beside someone known as the king. You can see it roughly in the water pond that surrounds the portal to office. (I'll send a image of it shortly).
While the megabird brought life to the world, once the life force has completed its journey (dies) the king is responsible for guiding the light back to the megabrid. Later on the king chose 6 elders to rule over the realms, which was good. Some time later, the king discovered dark stone, a material that takes light instead of giving it. He found out this dark stone can be used to make him and the elders more powerful. Soon they became corrupted and the world began to fall apart amid a huge explosion. Since the light of the elders were gone, the ancestors perished to the darkness.

Now, that was more or less the old lore.
The current lore gives a similar result, but the change is that the elder of eden (the king) is no longer present and cannot be saved.
What I believe the new lore is, that the megabird cannot complete the cycle on its own without the elders. So send skykids to help.

#

@tepid oxide

tepid oxide
#

I see... thank you
In eden there are red stones everywhere, if u get close to them it stoles your light. I don’t know if that’s related to that black stone.
Also, what will happen next? When we complete everything, If we return all the light to the world, that means that we have already completed our mission. What will happen next? Maybe you can make a theory, because I don't think that will happen, I feel that the purpose for now is only to relive memories of spirits and discover new places. But I don't know if something will ever happen, like an event ... or a movie?
I am thinking a lot... uh
This game is really interesting and unique, the history, the designs and the story. I’ve never seen a game like this before. I love it, but it would if we could know more about the story and the elders, and that megabird.

nimble ingot
# tepid oxide I already remembered something. At the beginning of the game it is seen that we ...

The realms all exist in different places in the world (sky's version of earth). Since the world is broken apart, some places are in the clouds as the pieces of land floats about.
Some places can be low down to the ocean (dawn, sanctuary island and wasteland) and others can be pretty high up in the clouds (valley, forest and eden).

This is where the ancestors used to live, though are now dead and exist as lost spirits. Us skykids can relive their memories and by doing so help them to the temple and then up to orbit.
Personally, by building a friendship with them and helping them ascend (they turn into golden ascended spirits when you unlock their wing buffs), they can make it orbit, and in turn help you in your next life find and help more spirits.

Skykids are theorised to be many things, some say they are a bit like a hybrid of ancestors and light creatures, others say they are similar to elders but not the same (both came down from the stars), and others say they are like golems (or homunculus). I am not much into the first theory, though that is open for debate.
On thing for certain they are not like human as they can survive great falls, are fire proof, can carry a flame inside them, dont need to sleep or eat (though can eat if they want and can become tired), have glowing eyes and can take hits from rocks that can smush humans.

Skykids eyes are assumed to be able to blink (as seen in chibis). I suppose the reason why a maskless skykid closes their eyes for the looks in the game rather lore. Same applies to being finger less (they have mittens for hands) and lacking mouths.

nimble ingot
# tepid oxide I see... thank you In eden there are red stones everywhere, if u get close to t...

The red rocks are theorised to be the darkstone. Though possibly an unstable and aggresive (possibly overcharaged) version of the stuff. Since they take light, this is most likely the case.

I can see you are new to the game and curious 🙂
My advice, take your time and read along on the channel. You are welcome to ask questions, and even share your own interpretation/theories.
Though most importantly, take your time and go at your own pace. Knowing the lore is not a major thing to the game or something every skykid should know. Even if there is no canon lore, the player are able to form their own story based on the game.

As for what happens next?
I dont know, and doubt most folks would know either what happens next for certain.
The most we can do is theorise.

For now, skykids are able to explore the world as it is revealed in parts. Experience every chapter as they come and go. And see what the mystery of the game is when it is revealed.
The game goes on in cycles, so for now, it has no ending. Just like skykids dont have to go to eden, there is no rush to finish the story at present.
I do hope you enjoy the game and able to stick with it for a while (because I have a feeling the next season might have some cheeky references to the megabird 😉 )

tepid oxide
# nimble ingot The realms all exist in different places in the world (sky's version of earth). ...

I see, I see. Thanks for answering all my questions.
And yes, I don’t think sky kids are 100% humans. It reminds me to the Crystal Gems haha (It was a CN serie), because they don’t need to eat or sleep, but if they want to they’ll do it. It’s very interesting. And I don’t think we can grow up, yes, you can be tall, small, Chibi but always a kid. You can be a small kid or a tall one.

I have to say, it’s animation is great, it’s music is pretty catchy, and it got a few laughs out of me (though, some of the zaniness and potty humor got on my nerves a little)

well, based on the nintendo switch trailer for sky.
There were ancestors that lived long before the stars fell.
Though this might still not confirm how ancestors live, if there were any, before the elders arrived.
The reason I am saying it is because the temple is present in the trailer, and then the start fell many year later.

The stars falling could represent the arrival of skykids, from what I understand was happening [headcanon].

Since these are the old names and not canon, it is preferable to use their current names.

That's why when the stars fell, the spirits died with it, as the intro in the cave explains ^^

#

The million candle question is if elders fell first, after, during or at all, and why. If king was the reason the stars fell then would have have had to fall first?

nimble ingot

Maybe the elder decided to descend themselves?
The murals did show them interacting with spirits in the cave of prophecy and the all elder's cut scene.
So maybe they wanted to help the ancestors progress but the king was not interested?

By the elder and skykid used to be stars. I meant to say they came from the stars.

The elders live in orbit and have their own constellations. While the skykids are like stars as the star falling represented the skykids arriving (head canon), and out friendship constellation had stars that each represented a skykid.

If the skykids being like star are canon, they are in a way a falling star. Like a wish or a meteor.

What makes it difficult to use murals to confirm theories, such as the door to the forest temple in particular.

The forest temple door implies (but does not confirm) they cut down trees and combined them with light from pots to make darkstone (power diamonds)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/10ZWJRGiJSrIXgDvJ4pST61moZbVB_hBExUjOaF-pmOE/edit

So, even if the fact is probable since a spirit memory also shows the tree being chopped down (apologetic lumberjack), the murals may not be enough to outright confirm theories.

Okay, this is something I’m kinda confused on. So I was thinking about how the Sky kids were created. Did like a star fall and land on a child? Or did like the spirit of a kid fall from Eden and then was able to collect the light? This is so confusing

nimble ingot
#

Hmm.
Since we dont see exactly how the skykid lands up close.
Though we do see a ball of sparkling light fall to the ground, and the skykid gets up off the ground.

In ushering stargazers memory, shows a falling star, or a light that shimmers like a magical star would (obviously ignoring real world laws about stars being ginormous balls of fire and gas, lol).
So, in short, the skykid likely arrives in a burst of light and star dust. And the skykid appears in the landing spot.
I'd imagine the skykid was but a ball of stardust, which then materialises into the the stone like body (or whatever they are made of) that is a vessel of the light they carry.

agile vector
#

Huh…. I mean it makes a lot of sense. Lol why is it so confusing

nimble ingot
#

maybe because it is a unique event in sky and even if it is a fictional place, there is not a lot of other sources that does it?

It is the best what I can think of.
If anything, it is similar to how Journey sends the player back to the start. As the wayfarer (the player) returns to the start in a ball of light.

Check out these design notes by Tom Zhao, a diamond would easily fit in the right side of the graphic.

I’m gonna do a funny and connect it to the hecking evolution and anatomy of Sky’s creatures
Light creatures like manta would be soft and delicate. Because they are blessed and connected to other creatures and flame. They have no reason to fight, and instead would share energy with one another.

Dark creatures like Krill are not connected like this, and are deaf to those around them. They would evolve things like hard exterior, teeth and claws because they would view all other creatures as either food, a threat, or nothing of importance, not too dissimilar to territorial animals of the real world.

#

Light spreads energy around. It flows like a river. while darkness absorbs energy and doesn’t give it back, it’s locks it down like a vault.

I'm like almost 1 day late but here's my take on the little prince and how it affects lore!( i won't be going into too much depth with all the other spirits )

personally drunkard's lore as we see in their cutscene strikes me the most. we do know for the fact that the polluted / dark water we see in game causes us to lose our light. this wouldn't be the case to our ancestors/spirits tho, as they're entirely different species! knowing this, we could say that the dark water could somehow affect them in a bad way , too? like losing their memories?? (which is why even with my theory that the reason why we can relive ancestor memories, we can not see all of their memories because they've been corrupted by the dark water)

drunkard specifically says "he drinks to forget" and once asked what he's forgetting about he doesn't remember. now we know for a fact there isn't any other type of liquid being used other than the clear and dark water, it could've been their "drink" back in the day.

i think this is a great world build for the kingdom of sky SkyTada SkyLOL

The drunkard's lines are that he drink the dark water to forget that he is ashamed of drinking dark water.
This may be the game's way of being diplomatic with explaining that the drunkard is addicted to drinking dark water.

Since he is in season of the little prince, it may help with knowing where the character in the game drew inspiration from.
In the Little Prince, there is a similar character with the same name, who also drinks to forget because he is ashamed of drinking.
Analysing the book reveals that the character is "trapped by his past mistakes," according to (study.com).

Knowing how the drunkard in the book applies to the spirit, one can deduce that the spirit is also trapped in a loop of reliving his past mistakes that includes excessively drinking.
The spirit in Sky has some differences from the character in the book. the spirit is dead, carries chains, wears a cape and clothing that suggests he is related to the military (warrior) class in sky.
This is further supported by the appearance of other militaristic spirits in his memories.

Based on how the cape is tattered, which can theoretically imply that the spirit either failed to be a soldier/warrior, fled a battle, disobeyed orders or lost a war. Either way, the character could be a reflection of what happened in the war of Sky, though the spirit itself might not be involved in the war.

In part, yes. Though not directly.
Similar to crossovers, both universes would not effect each other directly. But they give insight to both world from a different perspective.

How I would apply the lore found in the season is by identifying what parts are from the book, what parts are recognised as part of Sky. And then see what is left behind.
For example with the drunkard.
In the book, he drinks to forget and trapped in a loop of being ashamed at his mistakes.
In Sky, he is a spirit that has militaristic looks and interacts with dark water and other spirits.
What is left that the spirit wants to forget his past mistakes which could suggest the war in wasteland, or the trauma the spirit faced in battle.

Hope this helps.

If you see in the concept art the areas closer to eden get more and more mountainous. There is probably a correalation between the more industrialised areas and the mountains. Perhaps protection, as a barrier? If anything, it's kind of Ironic. despite the fact that the valley is called the valley, it is one of the areas in sky with the highest altitude (except for eden of course), whereas the golden wasteland is more of a pit really, it's more valley than the valley of triumph.

I fell like we should imagine krills more as vampires. The proof that they were once light creatures is the colour of their search lights. However, another reason for that colour could be for bait. It is spirit blue, after all, and as they know that we are out there to free spirits, and also we're the most easily accessible sources of light because we move and stuff, they probably use and yeet our light as maybe a way of a) keeping themselves alive or b) trying to find a way to turn themselves back into light creatures. I believe B is a more feasible answer because it's what crabs do too.

I don't think it's worth overthinking what krills want more than the reason they are here; they follow a regular loop on their territory, which is almost exclusively areas close to the storm. Makes me think of the pokemon Sigilyph which still follows its ancient patrol route, but moving on I think they weren't born from the cataclysm (what corrupted creatures and killed the ancestors) since one is depicted in the Cave of Prophecy murals.

My theory is that they might be patrolling; in the concept art the light creatures attacked the kingdom because it blocked the way to Eden and/or hunted them for the light. Considering the first krill we meet attacks a manta, it's possible they simply attack us for being made of light (does this mean the ancestors and elders aren't "luminous" enough to be a blip on their radar ? probably).

Neither spirit memory or the spirit sprite (the follow and drag along memories) are targeted by krill.
This is likely to avoid krill interupting memories though. As @languid pendant mentioned, the spirits had encountered krill and avoided them.

Same, I almost wish the devs would leave relics or fractured terrain in the far reaches of Eden. Little nooks and crannies for skykids to scout out like a crumble ruins.

Come to think of it, why is it in the other realms, we can easily reach the clouds and charge up, but in Eden, we never get the chance?
Is it because the devs want us skykid to feel unsafe and have to be careful with their light as they cannot reach clouds to recharge?
Or is it implied that these clouds are too charged up and would hurt skykids?

# waxen ermine Something funny I always thought, so apparently Krills want to eat our light But...

True.
While Krill are known to hunt light creatures (skykids included), some game mechanics may have altered the krill in favor of giving players a fair chance over what the lore would suggest.

The krill could in theory claim a dropped winged light if it were to fly over it, breaking it in the process.
On a hit, the skykid loses 5 winged light which they can reclaim if they managed to get them back in time.

So, instead of krill chomping up 5 winged light in one go, one can theorise that when it hits a skykid. It follows through with its charge so much, by the time the krill turns around, the skykid would either have gathered all the winged light up or gotten away with the winged light burned out.

Perhaps the krill are not efficient hunters. SkyShrug
Since they mindlessly hunt for winged light. But they are still dangerous creatures that should be avoided.

crabs are possibly scavengers.
They cannot target flying creatures, so likely took out creatures that are grounded or downed.
Since they are easily flipped over by deep calls, they are easily scared off (flipping over is possibly a defence mechanism).

So, lets say there is a muted skykid, or weak skykid or even distracted while caught in the water. A crab would likely go for them over skykids that fly away or do deep calls.

Crabs have been noted to be territorial, if I recall correctly. So they are also likely just trying to chase away pesky skykids, regardless if they would go for them or not.

102 winged light is suprisingly the total without the wing buffs, @orchid jolt .
The max winged light a skykid can have is around 174, I think.

Since wing buffs can come from Orbit (that bonus winged light from revirth) and spirits might mean that they are not souls, but fragments of light.
They could be even pieces of the king for all we know. SkyShrug

Perhaps the statue kids have their souls all along, but are not able to break out on their own.

One theory I was pondering about is what if, the statues were children of light that failed to complete their mission.
Similar to how the spirits are are stuck reliving their past, the statue kids are trapped in eden.

I am not sure if the resets are supposed to be part of the lore. Though if a skykid is supposed to complete a cycle, then maybe the world is stuck in a time loop.
One that will always repeat until the king returns, because without him, nothing can move forward.

This is a funny thought but still; if megabird were to be like mother nature, then would the king be like father time? SkyThink

But the other realms had a slow shift from naturalistic ruins, to stone riddled ruins.
There is not even dark plants in eden!

Thinking outlouf here:
It is as if there are 3 elements at play here. There is an element of light, an element of corruption and an element of power.
It is a subtle detail you can see in the merchant's boat. Eith the orbs, then vase, and a diamond.
And even in the all elders' scene with Daylight with a vase, Forest having a diamond, and Valley with an orb.
There is also another orb in eden's mural in that scene, though not sure how it ties in.

Also, not the current topic but I saw that floating around on tumblr, as much as I enjoy the angst of it I don't think that skykids are doomed to see the same cutscenes and memories over and over; the game states that you befriend the spirits when you offer them candles for cosmetics (headcanon that there's a language barrier hence why skykids befriend the ancestors the only way they know how to; candle gifts).
Later on you can even see them in social areas, they turn to look at you and wave when you open their shop.

Same for elders, game states you must bring them the light back (they even have separate dark and lit forms), so you get the cutscenes where your skykid brings them the light back. Not sure the devs would have the means to include more elder cutscenes than we already got, let alone if the elders show themselves to the skykids outside these contexts.

Since they are the first thing to go when you lose all your wings, I like to think cosmetics are a kind of light magic (glamours if you will). Hence why you can switch from short to long hair in an instant, or have seemingly huge quantities of capes.

Ancestor spirits never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for sky children to be always and forever explaining things to them

# rigid mural To be fair, you probably wouldn't give a stranger your hairstyle or your pants.

Perhaps it is allow a skykid to study the hair and clothing long enough to be able to copy it.
Similar to how the skykid learns an amote from a scene in a memory, perhaps the spirit allows the skykid to imitate the looks too.

Skykid uses cosmetics to express themselves and create their own identity. When they lose all of their light, they also lose the ability to project their identity on themselves.

Ok but now I'm imagining a spirit or elder letting a sky kid touch their hair.

Well, now I want some art of a spirit with a braided hairstyle “gifting” it to skykid by braiding their hair

#

Or if spirits can’t interact physically with sky kids, sitting down with skykid and showing them how to do it while skykid follows along. This is my new headcanon. Nobody touch me, I’m in my honey nut feelios right now

Also, Vault Of Knowledge is underground, according to cavern of prophecy

When you turn around upon entering Eden, you see it too

that would also mean that the gw fortress, where vault's gate is, would be underground and directly under the eden mountain's foot no?

My daughter has just been whale watching and came up with the idea that the Sky whales probably eat the krill dragons and that's why there are no krill next to the whales 🤔

nimble ingot
#

That is so cool that your daughter got to do whale watching. 🙂

If it were true, it would have been an epic coincidence.
The dark dragons in the game are called krill by fans of the game because they look giant krill.
If the whales would be the ones that hunt krill, it would be amazing!

It would be really cool! She mentioned how nice it would be if in the secret place we had whales 🐋 one day, sort of like the dark dragons on Halloween 🎃

I really love the cave of prophecy murals, but I kind of struggle to decipher them. Has anybody written out an explanation or anything like that? I know it shows the different zones but if there’s some deeper significance there I’m not able to parse it

Well the point is to draw your own theory, but it seems to depict the journey of a (sky?)kid in finishing the trials, getting the elemental powers and being crowned in the presence of the elders, with 4 of them getting an elemental power.
My theory is that this is the prince's ascent to the throne, depicting him gifting the elders the elemental powers for their allegiance or at least allyship.

Not my screens (found on google) and I didn't unlock their hair, but wierd how the valley elders got one... irregular arm and the other is fine.

Oh ya, there’s a theory about them being one but split ykniw

Yeah, and they each only have one eye as well

You can see the right arm of the spiky haired elder is fine, and their left arm is all wierd and janky, while the other mirrors that.

Oh ya, there’s a theory about them being one but split ykniw
Yeah and I agree with it, they look like two halves of a whole.

#

Maybe they got prosthesises made by the forest elder ? pEyes pEyes pEyes
That would be interesting.

icy spruce
#

YEAH, I like the idea of them being one whole cause that would make sense

And they are also represented as 1 elder

rigid mural
#

I love how elders can just... stand there... in Eden... bless...

#

Ok but they are really big though, even for an ancestor spirit. Like, the twins and forest elder are among the smallest of their kind too. Strongly headcannoning they were worshipped or at least revered as patrons of their land.

Forest forging power diamonds (batteries). These are tricky to spot, though are held by the 4 spirits to the right.

Valley and the orb. Though this might not be it since it is just seems to be an ball that gives context to the elders being in a competition rather than fighting each other.

And the famous Eden mural/projection. With the elder seen holding the orb. Some theories he is about to eat it, others believe it is just being held and the elder is screaming. Either way, the elder seems to be in pain.

i was over here thinking they added something

#

hey, so ive had this idea for a while, but can someone upload pictures of all of the covered lamps?

#

specifically, the kinds of covered lamps, like the ones in vault, the ones in forest, and whatnot

#

actually, you know what? I can probably get the pictures i want

#

it has to do with the boats

#

I think there may have actually been a balance between light and darkness, ill elaborate further once i get the boat pictures too

yes, but notice how all of the spirits and other elders in the mural have a constellation in them, often connecting to things outside of them, but the king's body is empty of any constellation.

two things, why did you delete the last thing u said and why are you talking to yourself?

howd u gonna fit all those lines inside the king, whyd u gonna need to fit all those lines inside the king when the king represents eden; his realm himself. eden has no other discernible qualities other than its sacred and its gone/ruined

it looks scuffed, fitting of eden cus the realm scuffed too ||very chill place tho good ambiance||

Why ?

mind ur business 🤨

frozen pivot
#

the way i look at it is, every spirit is a star, each and every one of those star is connected to the light and thus connected to each other, elders or higher entities than spirits consists of more than one star, thats why they have their own contellations. the lines doesnt hold that much importance, just means all are connected to light
