Yeah and getting krilled ;w;
?! I uh.. have stuff to take care of so.. not really. (Would appreciate not being pinged for a while :3)
Get them, get them all.

Gotta catch em all
Me @ WL
I think you were kinda talking about this but what if the winged light we find are wandering souls who lost their bodies in eden so now they go to their favorite places to stay until you retrieve them and take them back to be rebirthed
Every winged light you lose is another child that has to wait a long time before you get them again
yeah i believe this
keeping our big fat wings is greed
You're stopping a skykid from being reborn
Maybe it's more of like their main source is snuffed and we just find bits of their extra light just enough to set them free?
Like fragments of their soul?
not sure about this, since 1 is being put in each kid statue I really do believe that the way it's meant to be is 1 WL = 1 soul
I think our ability to collect them and get stronger wings is born from the imbalance of the world because of the corruption that lays waste on the sky world
@Cyora Yeah, I was gonna get into that.
I didn't mean that each WL is a part of 1 soul. I thought of it more like the teensy fragments are coalesced into one WL from when they were alive.
There's ultimately no way to be sure but I think they might be like ghosts
Lmao yeah that's what I think so too
Ahhh yeah...Oh! I forgot about the flying boats! That’d make sense. (Hey, and you don’t have to be sorry. I don’t mind being ping’d
)
maybe that's why they're in such places, bound to where they died -- takes me back to the dying outside of eden, probably the 1 WL we find in the black room is the one that truly belongs to us
Didn't they all die in Eden though?
Another one of my questions; why are they in such locations when their bodies are at Eden. Maybe it's their favorite spot?
Yeah, I think the author based it on his own experience. Probably grew up in a time where status was everything. I think he poked fun at how being “adult” means not having a childlike spirit—equating the wonder, creativity, and innocence of childhood with immaturity. We all know people who think that way. (As well as perhaps the time in our lives where we worried too much about looking “immature”...which a actually this worry is what shows our immaturity lol)
who in their right mind would hang out with 2 krills in GW 😭
Probably someone from Sky's version of lore chat
JGFJDHD
Oh...I understand how it could be seen that way. For me, I really connected with the stories; they feel warm and poignant in a whimsical, romantic way to me. To each his own.
Oh I like this idea
I think it's a very sad and narrow view to say "children good adults bad" because unfortunately not every child possesses that kind of mind, and not every adult is this stupid thoughtless cog in the machine, but then it might just be generalisation. I think it just romanticises things that shouldn't be, and skips over people who are forced to grow up fast because of circumstances, excluding them or making them less.. idk maybe it's also bc i read them in french they might read differently? sometimes translation makes all the difference
I mean, LP was portrayed as flawed. What I mean is I think we're supposed to see that he's too childlike
Yeah I think that much is clear from his neglect of the rose, true
Btw unrelated but where did the krills come from, do we know anything about that? As in, are they artificial or otherwise?
He tries being deep but then he's a little kid acting dumb 5 seconds later
I think the people that's being thrown shade here are those who are truly shallow. Those who only care about "earthly things" if you will. Not out of necessity but of pride.
All we know for certain is that they're corrupted
Aren't we all like that sometimes?
Are you saying I'm not acting dumb enough smh
I want an update where we can take the krills to the shower and turn them into shiny shrimp, then ride on their back into the sunset
I like to think that they were the light creatures whose light were squeezed into juice. Y'know, darkness in the absence of light sorta thing?
Ohh like a vengeful amalgamate, that would make sense, and theyre attracted to our high light density because they want to be their former selves?
In the murals all the krill were pure white like the light creatures
I haven't paid nearly enough attention to the murals...
Yeaa and they're like, starving for light? ooooh maybe they lived because not all light were drained and they're just running on steam at this point.
The first one we see eats a manta, probably that's how they're surviving since darkness feeds on light
I wonder what the krills were like when they weren't corrupted were they friendly? Friendly krills
I am wholly convinced those flying light creatures the ancestors rode on in the Switch ad were pre-corruption krills. Change my Mind.
The issue with that is in the murals they still look like the current krills just white instead of black
Wonder what they used that big ol' headlight for before being corrupted
Apparently they're some kind of spotlight as well. Kind of like those lights on front of your car.
They're basically organic flying light cars
Perhaps they used it for sight? They could be like anglerfish and have bad eyesight so they use an organic light
Convenient jfghk- i wonder why they destroyed everything by wanting more power when clearly they had things sorted, but that's probably the point, just like humans don't know when to stop
The question I have though is how desperate they were to obtain light to the point of draining their transport animals
They just didn't know when to quit and it came around on them
I can see what you mean. This can come across as pretentious or narrow minded. But as Atroposse says, I dont think adults as a whole are the focus, but rather those who consider themselves “adult” for very shallow reasons. It critiques the strange things adults can get into and delude themselves for, things that are part of an “adult” society no one questions (vicious cycles like unaddressed alcoholism, simply following orders without thinking for one’s-self, greed, hunger for power, etc.). With a simplistic childlike view, all of this seems silly. I really think these things are what the author encountered in his own life; I need to put more research into it, but I think he lived around WWII and that’s the time the British empire and all its societal trappings were starting to dissolve. I imagine a lot of the adults he encountered in this age put a lot of focus on status and money and such.
Though, yes, the Little Prince is shown to be immature too. Really, I guess we can say both the adults in the book and the kid are “immature”, and not true “adults” yet. I think it shows though that being “adult” doesn’t mean losing your childlike innocence, wonder, and creativity.
Perhaps LP had to die at the end because he was finally taking responsibility for the Rose: his immature kid self had to die.
But I bet the original French probably has a different meaning than the English translation. And again, I get what you mean! I think the author perhaps had a bit of pride himself. But writing the book certainly helped him return to the childlike self he longed for—I read somewhere that he wife remembers how much he chuckled to himself and looked so happy when writing the story 🙂 So, for him, LP helped him work through his own darkness
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly
Sorry for the tangent:
Also, I'm still confused on what the elders are. Iirc they came from somewhere out in space, but they're not like skids where we rely on our light as our life source (or that they didn't come from Megabird?)
Are there different categories of light? Ethereal light blessed with sentience or does it like, compile and turn into a creation space (e.g: nesting grounds)
I fully respect people who can find beauty in the story and art is subjective for sure — I just didn’t get as much as you have from the story, but that’s what makes art interesting in the end.
Exactly!
And sorry if I came off like I was trying to debate you
I just wanted to offer my perspective, but I fully respect yours
I can’t help much with this question although yes it was confirmed that the Elders are in a realm “beyond”, that’s all I know
Yeahh, personal experience factors in a whole lot when it comes to these kind of things.
True. You’re right.
Hey actually now that I’m thinking about the LP season
The wealthy guy with the stars: I’m confused about stars now. Are they the light orbs that fall from the sky that we see the Prairie spirits collecting, the Skids, the Elders and Spirits, or some form of currency (those Star trophies the wealthy guy is hoarding)?
I would like to know what those Star trophies are anyway. I guess they are money since the wealthy guy refers to them in that way: get stars to BUY more stars...
But why make money big trophies? Usually currency is something small and portable. Maybe the trophies are the Sky equivalent of big gold bricks?
They are literally just the stars i think, since this follows what the book says
So I guess outside of the Sky world’s canon then: LP references to stars are different from he Sky term
I wouldn't say that since no one with the proper authority has confirmed it, and we can still observe stars in the desert that might be light waiting to be reborn -- ultimately nobody CAN own the stars so this man is just conceited and believes that he does, no matter their nature
I don't believe any of these spirits hold any significant lore clues
when it comes to the little prince, I suppose if we were to extract any lore out of this, we may need to pay attention to what the book described and disregard those details to single out any relevant lore.
That said, it will most likely leave a grey area full of debatable information.
The accountant (star counting guy), refers to counting stars as part of his wealth. The book explains that the accountant may not own the star literally, though the fact that he counted it, makes it that he 'owns' the amount of stars by his logic. That section discussed how adults care more about number than the physical value of something.
Applied to the in game character counting stars. The prop he was referring to could be like a trophy, which would lead to the spirit valuing the materialistic value more than the emotional value.
Personally, I think the prop is just a cosmetic that parodied the stars the accountant cared about.
It is uncommon for props to have heavy lore implications unless there are more evidence to support them.
Ex. The firework staff being use by multiple spirits, the prop being present in the environment and the fact that the dawn elder has one.
Hope this helps.
All sky children were once moths... but only few of them remember it
True, if only I paid more attention while being a moth during the season of enchantment.
Gotcha gotcha. That makes sense. I forgot about that aspect of the guy in the book (counting stars but not really owning them physically).
Thanks for the clarification!
Can't wait to see how TGC handles the ending to the little prince.
And that's why the King askes Forest Lamed Elder for a mecha suit
including the prince?
You have a point
Will the Snake be a krill
This would explain why Eden still had the beacon alight in the Switch trailer, which takes place before the stars fell and everything came to ruin.
It seems to be a situation of no matter how ruined Eden is, the function of dying to be rebirthed is still there.
Perhaps the spirits went on pilgrimages to Eden often, to die and be reborn. Some settle down in areas before it, finding them nice places to live, but they'll still end up going back to Eden, only to be reborn and continue on with their daily lives.
To the world of Sky, death is but a stepping stone.
I mean, we saw the Prairie elder turn a light offering into a butterfly so we know it can happen. The butterfly was put in a jar after too
Oh! I forgot about that!
One person on here mentioned that perhaps over time, light orbs in a jar could turn into butter flies. Kinda like an aging or pickling process lol
There is the egg in forest, so that might happen 🙂
Wonderfully said! I got that vibe from the game that death wasn’t seen as something to fear or as “the end”
That’s what made me think of that in the first place lol 🥚I was so intrigued when I found them
been scrolling a while. are stars personafied in sky? that is, can they actually become people?
skykids have a habit of falling that make them look like stars (eg after-walking-through-reborn-door cutscene)
I finally had a listen to the 2nd volume of the Sky soundtrack, and has anyone figured out how the titles of the songs and how they fit with the part of the game they came from?
Because apparently the name of the Forest temple song is called “Scattered Toys” and I’m curious to what it is referring to
maybe that refers to the devices used to turn the light creatures into energy there (something discussed earlier today); they could be referred to as “toys” because it’s silly to mess with something that ultimately leads to ruin and corruption, hence the infantilisation?
I believe that sky kids are stars: when we go through eden and then orbit, the winged lights we “freed” turn into stars in the sky after offering their ascended candles, maybe awaiting their next life cycle or possibly having reached their end and ascending to a higher plane — that second theory comes from the fact that i don’t understand why we go right back to it while they shoot up into the sky
Assembly quest,i presume
We will use it as a celebration tool
For dark creatures, right?
Yes
We celebrate dark creatures
Or as weapons, like their original purpose (at least that's what I use them for)
Truer words have never been spoken
don't distract us.. what happened to the TS. I smell it in the air.. the fishy- ness.
I was probably thinking of the lives of the Forest residents human or not , considering how it seems like they were forced into manufacturing, producing and using dark stone technology, and how they were used as “toys” and now they are scattered souls lost in vain.
But that is also a good interpretation of the title
3hrs since no one talking
That’s a new CGK champion
Lmao
The cooldown ruins my motivation to start a conversation
I don’t think there’s gonna be a fast-paced conversation in a while
Yep
Why’d they make it so long anyways
just realized that the colored lights appear in Sanctuary and in the spell boats too
Just saying
I still haven't figured out the distinction between Enchantment lights and Prophecy lights so idk which ones I am looking at
Dont know but am I the only one who noticed this?
The one's at the bottom picture may be colored orbs since they look similar to the ones in the Forgotten Ark
Here in the lore chat or at least the ones I used to talk with, we call the Prophecy's elements as Elemental Lights which is comprised of four: water, earth, air and fire while Enchantment's are Colored Orbs which has six: Red, orange, green, cyan, blue, and purple lights
whoa
what are these? the thing in the center looks like a small boat but idk about the short poles in the top
maybe it's a hook of some sort?
It's a boat
a life boat, most likely
It might actually be a pole for hanging the life boats, where seemed to be alot of them
Sky had life boats?
If you look at Saluting Captain's memories
Well main transportation in sky are ships and boats
When is that boat infographic coming Ali?
I saw that slow mode huu
I posted the wrong version
but here
The "lifeboat" in Shipwreck's ship is a variation 1 boat
Every realm in sky has a boat right? What about that mysterious boat in starlight desert Ali? 👀
You mean the one where we first meet the prince?
The boat in Starlight Desert is a variation 2 boat (ones with a triangle engraved)
Aw crap, I forgot another boat exists but I'm referring to the one near the well to the direction of Eden
I'm still trying to discern Star Collector's boat as well
"The Great mother" reminds me of Mega bird
Which also makes sense for Isle Elder's old role as the Ferryman elder who shepherds souls
This makes sense since sky has themes of the journey of life
Or Maybe we go back to Ali's Sky food theory and talk about cheese boats
The shipwreck is so jarring to me, because it looks much more technological in design rather than magical like the rest.
Then again... when war is introduced to a nation, technological advances soon come after, which could explain why Golden Wasteland, and to an extent, Eden, look so much more industrial than the rest of the areas, with the pipes and all of the... larger... buildings.
Speaking about Journey, have you noticed the things that you light up in Prophecy cave and Isle temple doors?
It looks like some sort of familiar character
Probably a nice little reference
But I do think that Journey has a connection to the present Sky Kingdom, but, how and why?
Then again, it's possible that the shipwreck isn't magical in design because unlike most other boats in the game, it possibly was never meant to fly.
It may be the reflection of the ancestor's disconnection from the Megabird and choosing diamond technology instead, opting for more industrial and sharp architecture as opposed to the airy, curved lines because birb and fly.. I think valley is an amazing mid-ground between that
Due to copyright issues, Journey and Sky have no actual connection to each other, unfortunately
Journey is Sony's property
Ah, such a shame
It doesn't seem to have any diamond designs on it, unlike most other boats, though.
It does carry a heckton of diamond molds tho
As for the megabird.
What is that? I've heard of it but don't exactly know what it is.
Wait, question actually, regarding diamonds, what ARE they made of? Or is it still being theorized?
Megabird is the deity of Sky which used to be a big part of Sky's old concepts but now, we don't know how much of her actually made into the live game
where are darkness(creatures) from as from your lore?
This concept art may explain how they're made. It's also been a pretty popular theory that they're made from both light and darkness.. and another inside joke regarding this which I cannot share
the fact that this is a same thing at wasteland right?
Ohhh I remember that inside joke, but we might get scolded for animal cruelty
Also thank youu :3
Yes, Broken Temple of GW and Forest Temple are both diamond factories
I personally think they're natural creatures just as Light creatures.. tho the second anniversary live kind of crushed this theory down ugh
hmm
i am actually like curious about the thing that says
"only if they could have listened"
probably the spirits and elders disobeyed something that led them into a bad result? causing them to live in the clouds?
So I found concept arts that I have never seen before, also that quote "If only that have listened" probably was a message from the MegaBird itself, saying they should't have used the diamonds because it would lead to their corruption
Edit:But that last picture tho... Only one wax-!?
We could've been very, very broke Skykids
Aiyaiyai I'm ur little butterfly
Aiyaiyai I say hi and gudbye
I-
Aiyaiyai I do nothing in lore chat
Aiyaiyai, I’m thatoneshadyloredealer
That's the look of a Element Light when it's not active
When the Red Light mission appears in dailies, you can either get it in Ark or in Shipwreck
If you stay long enough on the Valley Ice Rink under the bridge you will see the hollow Blue Light pass too
No, I was reffering to that picture the boat that is stuck in the middle
I still think diamonds could be made with both dark and light materials, but I also think that picture doesn't really explain it anymore
I simply consider it an old concept, because if you look at it there are differences with our Temple in Sky:
Both point 1 and 4 of the blueprint show that there should be a press-mold (while now there is Lamed Elder tombstone) and there should be a rail + a pool for the produced diamonds to roll out and then collected
Fun fact: noticed there are also more darkplants int the background? Those lily pads were in Light Awaits (Old Beta) but then they were scrapped out I guess
Oh, ok sorry 😅
Not sure if you mentioned, there are oval jars too, there is one outside the Sleepy Carpenter's workshop in Prairie
Plus, there is the gold jar in Vault, floor 1, on a shelf on the left side of the elevator
Perhaps they were trying to fuse the dark stone with light energy? To get a balanced energy source?
A mixture of light in darkness, you say?
My idea is that the spores need to find a suitable place, before letting a plant sprout (first just a a stem with a round bull > more bulb > spiky bulbs > spiky bulbs turns into a spiky leaf > leaf stems new bulbs and repeat ) but to grown they need to find a good dark/gloom spot and then feed from minor to medium light creatures (minor being butterflies, medium being young mantas we save)
How can they feed? They don't seems to care for water, the important is that they drain some light, not just by trapping a manta slowly (but not like a real life carnivorous plants) even from a jar fool of butterflies
In GW there used to be even butterflies in a hidden fireplace, but you had to save the butterflies escape from some dark bulbs first (no idea why they removed it recently)
Although after the addiction of the polluted geyser in Sanctuary get me a bit confused with the natures of those spiky balls produced there
Only things that adds up with my theory is that's a "dark" spot, even if just in a sense pollution and not in a sense of shady place like the giant plant in the crab cave
Also darkplants seems to be able to store energy (sort of like a cactus) so it can regrow itself after a leaf is burned if it's core spot is not destroyed, but only in nasty big plants it's a visible core outside of the ground
That's the main theory, letting dark stone be infused by light energy to create a sort of battery
juicer energy very epic, juicer content
Ok so hear me out- we now know that the Krill are in fact corrupted creatures. The reasoning behind their corruption and what they may have looked like before is still up in the air, but I truly wonder if the Krill looked much different than how they do now. If we look at the crabs, they appear identical to each other regardless of corruption. The only difference is the presence of dark spores. Dark spores are also present on the Krill, leading me to believe they also took on a very similar form before corruption. I’d also like to point out that in the murals of prophecy, dating back LONG before the disaster of the prior civilization, there are Krill depicted on the walls which are identical to the Krill we know and fear today. I don’t necessarily think they are a shredded/starved version of a whale, but rather a separate creature that would appear identical to a corrupted krill minus the dark spores
maybe the disaster mutated the krill
crabs are neutral creatures. corruption may differ on effect between neutral creatures and light creatures, corrupted light creatures ending up more hostile
You would define the crabs as not being hostile? They also didn’t confirm that Krill weren’t neutral creatures- just corrupted creatures
true, altho if crabs could levitate like light creatures does then thatll be out of the question. and crabs arent inherently hostile at all, theyd charge at u but theyd burrow in their shells afterwards for some reason, and that to me is not hostile in nature. plus theres those 2 uncorrupted crabby bois at sanctuary
I feel like that could also be said about the Krill though- they don’t attack immediately (like the crabs) they strike once (like the crabs) and then they go away (like the crabs) and then they will attack again given the opportunity (like the crabs). It’s also very possible for one species to be fully corrupted whereas others could avoid it
despite being corrupted, crabs doesnt show any signs of chaotic mutations physically either, theyre just perfectly shaped reese cups with dark dust shedding away, unlike the krills with chaotic potrusions
I just don’t understand why they would add Krill to the walls of Prophecy if they didn’t take on that appearance in the past, or at least something incredibly similar
It was a prophecy so i think they knew the future
same, but the murals are as open ended as the lore were trying to figure out, its best to look at it at the best method, whether were going to take it literally or metaphorically. it only depicts figures after all
it could mean both conflicting things at the same time for all we know
I suppose this is true- though nothing else in their murals really have indications of future events- they just showed a series of events which led to the current civilization as well as explaining what the elements were
And they are sooooooo similar to the Journey guardians- I can’t help but think they served a similar purpose in a similar form
prophecy by definition doesnt necessarily have to tell the future, idk wat else but i believe its not all about that
Well no- clearly the purpose isn’t about the Krill lmao, I just think it’s very possible that they looked the same. Do you have something that causes you to believe they took on a completely different look? I know most believe they are a corrupted version of the whales
darkness manifests chaotically relative to light that appears absolute or whole, those spiky features that the krills have plus the confirmation that they are corrupted, to me implies just that
i think theres a chart for it, i dont have it
When you state that darkness manifests chaotically in such a way that some features may take on a spiky appearance, are you referring to dark plants as well? I’m only curious because if that’s the theory, then the Krill may truly be the only creatures that follow this rule- making it harder for me to believe
Kinda curious, what was this gate about? Where does it lead?
It seems to be something scrapped, there's nothing inside. Just a hollow cave and if you go OOB, there's a staircase and a boat
you're not meant to be in there so what's in there in the actual game may not be the same as the lore.
I really think there's something in there and we don't know what it is
Correction, a half deleted boat and staircase
the dark plants do have some thorny parts, but i dont think thats its that relevant to the whole thing. their nature in general have some chaotic traits into it. from the way they regenerate in an extremely fast rate, budding pattern that can go all over the place- most noticeably in larger subjects. i believe darkness' chaos isnt limited to the appearance
i think the lights that pop out when u burn them is just a game mech and not canon aswell, seeing loads of candles all over the place instead to supply players with candle lights would be weird and boring
dark plants seem like an invasive species because they clogged up the bells in prairie and you can find them in every realm but eden and vault
dark plant's presence suggest corruption/pollution, difference would be the amount of it in a place that would imply whether its heavily polluted or not. vault being untainted would make sense but in eden's case, i think its just to keep an atmosphere. eden being the last area and all, its designed to be immersive in a way i suppose, rather than u doing candle runs in the place
You know krill could be like Semi-Nuetral..
does anyone have a theory on why some spirirts' memories can just be followed but some need more guiding (the circle thing)? did those spirirts endure more and thus lost more of themselves (or is there alr a reason and I'm looking into this too much-)
They are old and can't walk,or tgc just wants us to S U F F E R
But hey, it's just a theory
A GAME THEORY
i am so sorry
I need to avoid copyright (bad word)
this might confuse things but, all creatures currently in the game are technically light creatures, including crabs and whales. the reason why i refer to them as neutral despite that is that they lack a trait that most if not all light creatures have
and they also appear more organic and/or natural compared to the rest
whats yalls favorite ||eden|| lore?
That the whole eden mountain is eden king 😌
The king kinda sus ngl
Vault elder more sus, they're everywhere. The statues in the ascension map especially
P.s the word eden isn't a spoiler anywhere and we're allowed to discuss spoiler stuff(except beta) here !
I had a theory but i'm too lazy to draw rn so i'll write it in text instead
ok! ^^
king? i did not know that there were once an eden king
Small light balls fall on earth from megabird and a creature is born depending on where they fall.
A creature is born as the material automatically collects around the ball to form the best possible organism for that environment.
Growth is more and more material collecting on the body o creature.
If the ball falls on ground a skykid is born
If a big ball falls in clouds or water a manta is born
If a small ball falls in clouds or water a bird is born
If a small ball falls in shallow dark water then a crab is born
If a big ball falls in deep dark water then a krill is born.
Long time ago before any kingdoms existed all the land was covered in water so most creatures were mantas and birds.
But as the land emerged the first skykid was born it was the king
And others 6 were elders
They all guided all the ones born after.
Prophecy was about skykids who would be born after the corruption and would complete the trials and be chosen to save the kingdom basically a process to choose a new king
Also since krills are now confirmed to be corrupted here's a alternate theory
Krills are corrupted whurtles the ball of light gathered too much darkness making the krills powerful when eden explosion happened
Butterflies and small fishes were artificially made by prairie elder

What’s the topic
That’s easy! Once upon a time…everyone died, the end /j
The story of sky
what if eden was a reincarnation experiment but it made the environment suffer in darkness for it?
Oooooooo
Perhaps.
Though what was the original purpose of eden?
Since it is at the top of a mountian, it sure would have been the most sacred place in the game.
What would have happened that caused the temple to explode like that and leave a ticking time bomb of a giant fractured diamond?
Seeing how colours play an important role of the game, why does the most corrupt place has a white diamond?
I know there are plenty of red rocks coming off it, though why does it have so much white light?
I mean, the beam in Eden is apparently like the stairway to orbit (but beam)
And it was there before the kingdom was made, so I think Eden was there to yknow ascend spirits to orbit
Will the devs ever make an ending?
Probably after they sent out the seasons.
They seem to give out some hints of the lore in the mean time.
What if they expanded Eden as they carry on?
Hopefully
Perhaps our jobs as the children of light is to bring back the light for our elders who have passed.
Damn... The devs sure are making me wonder. Two years into this game and I still can't figure it out
That would be cool!
Before the darn bug in eden's point of no return.
I wondered about what if the ruins would have these small shelters. They would be far out in the feild so newer players have to work their way up to it.
But veterans that can make it, get rewarded with murals, trinkets and things like it.
When they are done, they get walk back out and die to rocks.
And maybe also help the ancestors ascend to orbit
Note that we do get to help some of the spirits ascend. Thought not all of them. :(
Anyways, why is lore chat’s cooldown so long??
what if we are actual children of the eden light?
Yeah that's the unfair part. The part where moths have to die again and again just to get their wings buffs.
I finally got into beta this time just to find out none of my data was transferable. I didn't want to do all the wing buffs again so I came out
Man that was a sad time. I waited for weeks and saw so many tutorials, just to give up.
So sad I didn't even play this season. Taking a break this season and will rejoin the upcoming season. I'm burnt out
Perhaps the lore is about perseverance of the children to get their own light.

That sounds good.
Perhaps it is like a fable.
The stories and themes show a situation and a lesson to learn from it.
For instance, it is unlnown to why there are child statues in eden, how they got there and why they turned to stone. But the light that was taken from then are returned by creatures never grow up but can fly.
Skykids remind me a lot of peterpan.
Ikr. Sky kids have a Peter Pan esq to them
I'd agree with this, since the prophecy is seemingly about you gaining the wisdom of the four trials and then helping the Elders, however, I can't because in the Ark there is a mural depicting a Krill and I don't believe that is a foretelling. Plus, the painting glows, as if to say this was made of light.
However we do know that when or after the war went on the corrupted Krill were present. Whether or not Stealthy Survivor was a refugee in the war or was squatting in the Golden Wasteland after the fact, the corrupted Krill was around when the Spirits were, so the Ark may be depicting an already corrupted Krill for all we know, only time will tell, it seems.
Or it could be that even when uncorrupted, the Krill seeks to harm things, like it's purpose is to patrol and guard but it can be given orders on who it should focus on targeting, and when it spots someone that shouldn't be there it attacks. We know that Dark Creature Crabs don't have any extra fancy targeting spotlights or the such, so why would the Krill, if it looked the way it did in the mural when uncorrupted, suddenly gain a spotlight used to seek and attack something?
If creatures of Light are neutral and not necessarily good, who's to say that Krill weren't already a predatory species which could be trained to attack certain people? Right?
Like a trained guard dog except cuter, obviously.
Perseverance is strength, @hard sluice!
I know this, why do you think I do the Trial of Fire so often.
how many skies would a skybot bot if a skybot could bot skies?
I would rather see if pirates could fit into the lore of the game.
We got swords, we got flying ships, we even have ghosts and an ocean!
Would Sky potentially have pirates sailing through the clouds like captain hook, or a flying dutchman?
Flying Dutchman, a person of culture I see
Ngl pirate cosmetics will be really cool so I look forward to it. Also it would be cool if their ships resembled like sea creatures or they ride whales and stuff
ikr. :)
What’s the topic
"That might be the best pirate I've ever seen."
How about this.
Why are the trees covered in clouds?
Or why are the clouds covering the trees?
Why are the trees covering the clouds?
Ohhh, I headcanon that the clouds are like the leaves lmao
Why are the tree stuck to cloud on tree?
Wh-
I'm pretty sure the baobabs in the most recent seasonal quest cutscene are the only trees that have leaves
the leaves looked like mossy boulders
Clouds are actually cotton candies they charge us cause sugar
There were blossum trees that are not necessarily clouds.
I assume it is a game limitation, though still...
Clouds carry water and catch light.
I think the clouds charge capes because of the light being caught in the clouds.
So those could be how krills looked in the past too?
Interesting
I always thought that mural could be another sign of the prophecies (yes, plural, because the season was Of Prophecy, while the map is Cave Of Prophecies)
Heyo i wanna learn about the lore but I literally have no clue where to start💀💀 pls help somebody
Also whats a mural
This is one of the original time lines for the game- Please note that none of this is confirmed canon, but it has served as the backbone for most theories
Are there any decent theories on what the castle in Eden is?
Ooh okay thank you!! I cant read it tho, where did u get the pic from?
Oh goodness sorry! I originally found it on a random lore blog, but I believe it was posted on the official Sky twitter with some of the other original art for the game
No problem! And aaah okay okay thank you!! Ill do some digging round see if I can find it. Tyty! :> have a good day, love
A mural is a general term used to describe the walls in game which have scriptures on the wall that hint at lore. These are very apparent in the cave of prophecies
Oooh that makes sense, tysm! So the very first cave at the start of isle- the walls with the writing is a mural?
Since you’re just now delving into this rabbit hole, I shall give you a word of caution. There is almost nothing in this game that is canon lore. Almost all of it is up to interpretation and it usually stays that way. This biggest canon lore dump recently came in the 2nd Anniversary Livestream where the game developers confirmed that Krill are indeed corrupted creatures, not natural dark spawns. And yes- the cave at the start of Isle is considered a mural!
A mural is an image found on rocks or any flat surface in the game.
For example, scenes in the first cave in dawn, the kingdoms depicted on the walls in the dawn temple, prophecy cave etc.
You can read along in the discussions, check the pinned messages and join the conversation with you questions and you own theories.
Most of the theories here are not canon, so it is open to interpretation.
Oh boy, this is gonna be fun😭😭 wish me luck ajsjjsjaj tysm btw!!
Agreed.
Take your time and go over the info at your own pace, or dont.
This is a fun rabbit hole to go down, and if you’re crazy interested about lore… this is absolutely the place to look haha! There’s so much to find and see on this discord page! Get all the latest and greatest updates, theories, and confirmed lore here. I’ve found it to be the most reliable source of information
Also I was talking to my friend a couple hours ago and they were telling me a bit about the lore which got me super interested. He said the spirits with capes are skykids and the ones without capes are humans and that skykids can grow old. Im assuming the skykids we play as dont grow old because they keep sacrificing theirselves? tho from what u said this is just speculation but is this reliable info to go off of?
It’s certainly a theory I have heard a lot about- the biggest discrepancy being that those shown without capes also appear to come in various ages. However, ||the new season coming up seems to delve into the reasoning behind our wings and general flight, so hopefully that may clear things up||
||ooo yes yes the new season already seems really interesting!|| And ajsjsjja tysm for answering all my questions, i hope u dont mind! yall are so kind pls
This is what the platform is for dearie! It’s just a bunch of people bouncing ideas off of one another, haha! No shame in questions
Ayy guys mind not discussing about any beta content even in spoilers cause uh.. I mean that's the one rule of this place ig? Also welcome lore moffs :3
Tyty! I also found the timeline! it mentions a megabird? whats that? and a prince? is that the guy on the mountain we see in he distance?
The title of this channel mentions that spoilers may occur. Plus, as long as it is blacked out then it is allowed in any chat- though I understand the confusion
Sorry sorry my bad 😭😭 ill do that from now on
Oh? I have been told beta stays in beta but okay. I am relatively newer so might not know :3
"Both ancients and creatures worship the fire, migrating to the ||Holy Land to die and be reborn||" it says. The fire is the megabird right? They worship the bird.. then they go to ||be reborn?|| wait does that count as a spoiler actually idk I censored just incase
megabird is the god like deity of the vame (you can see something thatvlooks like the megabrid in orbit, just look up).
The prince/king/eden elder is a character in the lore that played a major role in the past, upon the global release, it was partially removed from the game, though you can still see clues of him in the game still (diamond symbols).
Oooo now the Megabird is a fun one! In original concepts of the game (especially those closer to the game’s release) show it as being the entity from which all Sky children originate. It’s what we come from and return to during the cycle of rebirth (not to be confused with limbo that we go to after Eden). You can see the clearest image of the Megabird in the pool by the portal to the Office. The “Prince” is considered to be the chosen one of the past civilization. Some think that he may also be the Eden Elder. He controlled the past civilization and is often depicted as the diamond reference
It’s totally fine dearie! The rules of some of the channels can be hard to follow at times. If you’re ever curious, check the pinned messages for the channel! It will tell you what is and isn’t allowed within the chat
To be reborn is fine.
It is beta related stuff that is a bit of a spoiler since the stuff in beta are not yet in the live version of the game.
The rebirth stage is orbit.
The holy place is believed to be Eden.
What’s the topic
Ooo thats so cool!! :00 thanks guys! Oo megabird I love that name idk why lol and oki oki thanks Raider!! Are there any theories or anything on why they went to orbit?
Also quick question, are we allowed to send pictures or links? Just incase
The entire game revolves around the cycle of life- It’s just part of the average life of a Sky child to be reborn, similar to how its part of our lives to eventually pass away. Isle is considered birth, prairie is childhood, forest is your teenage years, valley is considered your peak in life or adulthood, the wasteland is a midlife crisis, vault is your elder stage where you come to terms with your life, and Eden is death. (Orbit being rebirth)
So uh, what’s the topic
Links and images are fine.
Sky, in general
Oooh I gotcha! I thought that, like, we went to orbit to sacrifice our light to bring back something idk, but its kinda cool to think that its just a natural thing!! and chesca I am just asking about the timeline and orbit and stuff atm
Oh okay
It’s definitely a theory- One of the best things coming from this concept (in my opinion) is the idea that one of the greatest parts of the downfall of the prior civilization came from the abuse of this rebirthing cycle. As you mentioned that you had believed we were sacrificing our light to something, some theorists believe that some of the light that was supposed to go with us into rebirth was absorbed by the technology of the past civilization, thus polluting the natural order of things
Oooo thats interesting.. theres so much to think about :00 thanks!! Because I notice in the opening sequence it says "Bring our lost stars home". Im assuming that means free the spirits or something? Cus I always thought the skykids had like a special purpose or something? My friend said theyre the remaining stars in the sky brought down to earth, so I thought maybe they were brought down specifically to rid of darkness, save spirits, bring light to the elders, then die and repeat, and that was rlly it. Idk😭 I thought they were sacrifices and it was rlly sad to me
Our purpose is to return those of the prior civilization back to their final resting place in the stars in a way. Those left behind were unable to complete their cycle in Eden once civilization fell, leaving them lost, broken, and without hope. By giving them the light they lost and returning them to the stars, you are in a sense freeing them. Same goes for the children trapped in Eden. We also came from the Megabird most likely, not from the stars. The Megabird is the voice speaking to us as we enter the game, giving us our purpose. That’s one of the biggest theories at least
Ooo thats cool I rlly rlly like that!! That makes alotta sense, tyty! I have a few questions, i rlly hope u dont mind: how werent the spirits able to go to orbit? Because we just have to die and we get sent there, right? Is it that they didnt have enough light or something similar? And how exactly do skykids "come from" the megabird? Like Im assuming it doesnt like give birth to us 😭😭? does it like drop us as balls of light or something? cus i scrolled up and saw this 1 absolute baddie talking about how all creatures came from balls of light
1.) Many believe the spirits weren’t able to make it to the final orbit due to the inability to make it to Eden before the final disaster. The ark within GW (not the one in the seasonal area, but the one before the battlefield) is hinted to have been one of the final hopes to transport remaining light and children to Eden in hopes of being reborn and fixing civilization, but it was taken down by a Krill attack. Many were absorbed by the darkness before they were ever able to complete their final cycle, and those who did go through the cycle returned the the Megabird since the world was no longer able to sustain their civilization. Now it is our job to return those lost and possibly fix what they have broken so that they may be reborn and do better in their next life. 2.) No- the Megabird doesn’t birth us in a way we would expect lol. The Megabird isn’t necessarily a bird at all but rather an entity composed of pure light from which we break off and create original life. Kinda like how fruit breaks from a tree
Oooh I get you!! Omgg I am so invested u have no idea😭😭 Nooo my heart kinda shattered a bit when u mentioned the boat. so they could only go to orbit if they went to Eden, the Holy Land, right? That makes sense! And that also explains why that boat is there- it always confused me lmaooo but nooo thats so saddd😭😭😭 Poor spirits Im glad I could save them. also thanks for explaining ahhaa yeah I was a bit confused about the megabird thing but that makes alotta sense! Where is the megabird now? is it in orbit? Is that why when we finish our cycle, we fall right from the sky as balls of light? Thats so interesting omggg :0
There are a few oobs (glitches) that can be done to see the megabird in orbit (it looks to be a giant array of clustered stars) but most don’t accept things found as oobs to be part of lore. However, it is VERRRY likely that the megabird simply just exists in orbit. Some also believe that the megabird itself is the giant ball of light that we fly into at orbit. It’s a less accepted theory though since it doesn’t look at all like the murals
Cool!! Tysm!! Wowww thats alot.. Im gonna be playing with like a whole different perspective ajsjsjja Im also really really interested in Season of Prophecy, Ive scrolled up a bit and it seems like theres quite alot to it :0
Gosh the season of prophecy was like- a theorists DREEAAAM! So many scriptures and new details about the creation of the past! It was HUGE!! I also consider finding the forgotten Ark from the season of enchantment! There’s lore etched all within that boat- it’s a beautifully tragic story
OH YES Sorry- JAJJSJS I love the story of forgotten ark!! Ive tried like figuring it out myself through the murals and stuff and the story is so so saddd😭😭 I think I got it right anyway, probably alot wrong, pls do correct me if so-- so they got on the boat because darkness attacked and they were looking for a place to restart civilisation or something about like trading thingd right? But whilst on the way, a krill attacked the boat!! it broke the boat and it was then the people on the boat were then stranded on some island! They tried to farm to keep a sustainable food source, and also the Crab Walker (I think?) studied the crabs? And ooo yes yes from what I can see, theres alot of discussions around Prophecy :00 I have so many questions about Prophecy but man I dont even know where to start
Yeah you’re pretty much spot on! They weren’t necessarily attacked before. They were most likely a group of wandering traders traveling the lands exchanging rare forms of light for general supplies and other fun gifts that were native to each area! However, in attempting to go into the wasteland to trade, their boat was tossed away by the storm and they were trapped within the desert due to the Krill guarding the entrance. Everything else is as you’ve said 👌🏻 incredible! As for Prophecy, the caves seem to tell the story as to how the prince of the land (Eden king perhaps) was chosen. He was the very first to finish all of the trials without fail, thus people believed he was the most qualified to tend the land properly
Ooo that makes alot more sense, thanks for clearing that up!! Whoa so if it was before they were attacked, would it be possible they didnt see a krill before? cus if not, I can imagine how scary it woulda been to see that thing flying around your only escape route.. :00 and ooo thats cool!! So damn.. the prophecy cave was there agesss before the darkness?? Thats so cool!!
sorry ajsjjsa i get excited easily
Sorry if I interrupt any ongoing conversation here.
What if eden is supposed to represent a black hole? just saying: falling rocks and shiny storm clouds around eden mountain = accretion disk created by a spinning singularity; pnr = quite obvious: pnr when you cannot use realm portals in home and after-death pnr which contains nothing but a shiny sky kid (maybe it is a singularity); strong gravitational pull = all moths are drawn to this place; that beam of light coming out of summit = funnel of material from accretion disk that eden (bh) spews (like the one that quasars have); the end of vault elder cutscene (where "king" devours an orb of light, screenshot attached) = process of black hole feeding on stars; inability of moths to fly freely in eden = property of space-time that is whirling around spinning singularity; red crystals, unique to eden, and reddish colour of atmosphere = red-shift of blue crystals and sky caused by strong gravity (there are no red crystals anywhere than eden, amirite?)
Important thing to consider: this is a lousy attempt to interpret the world of sky, I adjusted facts (about sky world) so that they resemble a real-life black hole and brushed off ones that don't fit in this representation of sky world. Krills not being destroyed by storm, pipes, megabird, how sky kids escape singularity, what Orbit is supposed to depict, why sky kids have to sacrifice its light for statues and other stuff that i forgor 💀 — all of that I left out intentionally because I couldn't find a fitting real-life "counterpart". Take it as a game of my imagination.
Regardless, I had fun trying to compare black hole and eden. I believe it is kinda entertaining to look at sky world as a representation of space.
Yup! It’s the oldest area of the sky game to date! And yes- it’s quite likely that their first interaction with a Krill was their last.. very scary 😞
Very :( also sorry for all the questions but ur like rlly cool to talk to and u know alot😭👍, why do certain realms have less darkness than others? Like why is prairie less darkness-shrouded than wasteland, etc? My friend said its because prairie is always day and never night, is that reliable? cus that would make sense but I wonder where he got that from
I honestly think this is a beautiful interpretation! There’s definitely a lot of elements in Sky that pay homage to space, so if we were going for overlapping themes, then yeah! It would 100% be a black hole! I had never viewed it through that lens before
The eye of Eden is called a storm but I really doubt it can be explained so easily
Goodness sweetheart don’t worry about it! I live for the lore and I love to share it haha! Yes- different realms have different amounts of darkness. Some are completely excluded from the pollution that came from the prior civilizations. The reasoning behind why GW and Eden are so broken is because those were the true epicenters of the industrial revolution of the past civilization. It’s where most of the light was absorbed in order to expand technologies, thus resulting in the overarching clouds and storms. The prior civilization drained the light from particular regions, whereas others were treated more fairly. There was a balance in some, and chaos in others
Unfortunately it will never be so easily explained- still a beautiful lens by which to view the rebirthing cycle haha
Also if it is a storm the place we end up isn't actually the eye it's the eye wall the worst part of the storm a normal storms eye is dead calm
Ooooh I think I understand! They used light for technology right? Like the bells in prairire (which would explain why there's darkness plants around them) and alot of technology made of light in forest which would cause alot of pollution, which would explain why the rain and water is so toxic? I didnt know they used light for technology, thats interesting! Theres 1 big question I completely forgot to ask: where exactly did the darkness come from, and what is it? You mentioned pollution, can you tell me more about that? Im so curious! Like how does it pollute if its made of light and stuff ?
Fabulous questions! So if you look in Eden and in the one spirit cutscene of the crying spirit in forest, you will see these red glowing crystals. It is believed that the prior civilization discovered that these crystals had the ability to absorb light, so they invented technology by which they could use the crystals to absorb light, and then use its energy to power things like bridges, boats, and other technologies. However, the crystals were a dangerous thing to be handled and as they were used more, they began to eat away at the natural light of the world. The lack of light caused for the areas that were dependent on its energy to slowly die away, and some plants began to find ways to store light (the dark plants) and slowly eat away at the area even more. The wastes that were created from mining these crystals and powering technologies were dumped carelessly throughout the lands, further drowning out any remaining light. It just kept spreading like the plague basically
Whoaa that makes alotta sense!! I always thought the darkness was something mysterious that sort of came out of nowhere! Thats so cool!! So just to try sum it up, they found things like darkness crystals and darkness plants which could absorb light. They used his to work technology like the bridges and boats, etc. However, they were running out of light and the areas dependant on it slowly died away, and the darkness plants began to store the light within them (does this explain why u get wax when u burn the plants or is that purely just for gameplay)? Then the darkness continued to absorb the light throughout the realms! Im assuming it also corrupted crabs and stuff? And Iv saw a theory that the krills were corrupted creatures and not created by the darkness, so that makes sense. Also I think I understand what happened to crying spirit and its really sad!! Like he got stuck in the cave with his family or something right? Cus it got blocked by rocks and they died in there ;;
You’re spot on with just about everything!! The crabs and krill were most likely corrupted by the darkness as it swarmed their native lands. And yeah- the crying spirit was assigned to mine crystals with the others and they either A.) got trapped in the caves that they were mining for the crystal in or B.) They fell victim to the light absorption of the crystals. Also for the Krill corruption- it recently became confirmed lore that they are indeed corrupted creatures rather than natural dark spawn, though their original forms are still unknown
Both A and B sound plausible! I think A merely because I just like it better- like they just died so slowly thats so sad I love it😭😭 and yayayyay!! Im so glad I got it right! And oooo I really wonder what the krill used to look like, Im so curiousss😭😭 maybe we'll figure it out in the future oooo
A personal theory of mine is that the Krill looked very similar to how they do now before their corruption- the murals in Prophecy display the Krill in a very similar fashion to modern day, and the crabs (corrupted and not corrupted) are incredibly similar to each other!
Ooo thats a good point!! Thats so interesting frrr omgg I didnt realise there was so much lore! Imma need to relive the spirits and see if I can finally figure out whats going on ahahha. tho there is 1 spirit Im confused about! I cant remember its name but it was in isle behind that big step slope thing (with the WL at the tip of it). The memories show 2 spirits following a ball of light falling from the sky and it turns out to be a skykid! They seem very confused, but why would they be confused if there are skykids living with them? So Im thinking maybe this was the first skykid!! Or maybe it was the prince! I read somewhere I think that he was the first skykid? But that might not be true idk
So the purpose is the isle of dawn was to help guide reborn Sky children back into their lives in civilization- the Isle elder especially serving as sorts the ferry master, guiding them back into the cycle. The actual spirit emote (follow me emote) was used to help direct the sky kid to the correct area. It’s very possible that they were surprised to actually be so close to one whom had recently been reborn. In the Switch trailer- the Isle showed a bunch of trading tents that seemed to have goods from the far reaches of the civilization- it’s very possible that some of them had never truly interacted with someone who had just been reborn, but they knew how to guide them
Ooohhh that makes sense!! My theory was wayy off then hahaha, but ooo thats kinda adorable tho😭😭 Thats rlly interesting, how it was just a normal thing to them! Like looks like its raining kids again ajsjsjjaa tysm hahaha
Once upon a time............the king got corrupted and civilization went boom boom badukan
Ok so, while watching the Sky: The light awaits gameplay, I niticed that gw was also snowy too, its a little... Uncomfortable actually..
Wow
I feel like either this will get a quick answer, or I’m gonna open a can of worms by accident, but do y’all know about the golden children in the desert, and do y’all have theories on what that’s about
hmmm im not a big lore person ahah but when I first saw it it reminded me at the end of ||||eden||||where the given star statues fly up cutscene|| || and judging by the number of them it seems like it matches up? maybe ultra ascended skykids? we never really got to see where they went after rising from
I interesting, actual snow, or it could be ash
Hopefully ash
Does anyone know what the winged lights are?
Fragment of the prince
I have a question but I don't know if this fits in lore or not...
But what do you all know about the boat you ride to the forgotten ark? Who built it? Because I don't think it was us skykids, nor was it the enchantment spirits, because they wouldn't be stuck there if they did. No wait, maybe it's traders!
But also, when you first ride the boat, you sail through water, right? But then in the next scene, you're now sailing on clouds
although i think the forgotten ark is not above wasteland since if we look up, we still see a similar sky to gw, with clouds filled with holes
I'm sorry if i don't make any sense
It makes sense but I don’t have answers sorry
It could be a floating island like in prairie/a really high mountain area
Oh? Different new poems? Still overly flowery, but thank you for sharing!
It’s in the box of togetherness,I think
Oh hey
The contract expired
Let's start a W A R
Between Megan cruseder and king supporters
Hero of propaganda,welcome
What contract
THERES A CONTRACT?
Well I'm no longer is a hero to the propaganda
I'm now an crusader
Is this your first day on lore chat?
Scrap the contract, there’s LORE???
Yes, there's a lot and none of it at the same time
KP signed a contract with him, if he didn’t mean that contract then idk
This is my first day back to lore chat
I barely visit here anymore
You never said when it would expire, or even if it would
Can I uh
Get a link to the contract
Oh yea i forgot
(bad word)
You are horrible at contracts
Like,come on
Think what’s normally in contracts
Lmao
you faked a contract AND let people notice it?
you are really bad at this contract thing
THINK ABOUT HOW YOU CAN EXPLOIT THE CONTRACT COME ON
Wow
I will not protest against the king
is what they said in the contract but it doesn't mean they can't get other people to do it
You’re right, but most people here respect the King, It’ll be hard to convince people
I think you should know that the Megan Crusaders will be outnumbered by A LOT, so unless they can think of a really good strategy, or actually unite to fight against King Propaganda, I’d say it’ll be an easy victory for KP
I do have a trick called the tortilla,i learned it from the Roman empire, and it has no flaws (except being extremely slow but KP don't know that)
Exposing your best trick isn’t very wise
That isn't....i mean is my best trick
Ohh, is it this one?
Y E S
Ohh, isn’t that called the testudo or tortoise or smthng formation? That’s some good defense but you can’t rlly see anything and yeah its slow so that’s the cons
That's just a distraction.......i mean that's the real deal and not a distraction
Well, we have superior technology because..diamonds ._.
How would we even fight a war here anyways? Unless we use words as weapons then ig that could work, but the war will probably get stopped before it even starts
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I will create a group later
What’s happening here
Red Cape is thinking about starting a war
I have the perfect distraction
I am going to burn water
Ohhh that, the uhhh I forgot the name but it came from greece right?
The smthng athena idk
burn dark water
Oh wow a war expert :0
ah yes,

Is there any contradicting lore in Sky?
Nope! That's the cool thing about sky lore
it's too vague to be contradicting :)
And the worse thing for some people that wants canon
Well TGC had to have a full story in mind to make all this...
Man i wonder how it feels to have all the answers but not being able to tell them
Man it must be hard to keep a secret as big as this
Mhm
The king demands more fan theories.
Gib more material
Welp, I have a thought about the king and the megabird.
In concept art, the megabird has an orb where the head supposedly is. The thing is, the in game image of the megabrid in orbit and the mural in office has no orb.
While at that, the mural of the king and the megabird, with the king himself being hidden under the island for the office portal, has an orb in his hand.
The same thing is seen in the vault cut scene with all the elders, also depicts the king holding an orb.
My theory is the Eye of Eden, is possibly referring to the eye of the megabird the king stole. If the megabird cannot see, it cannot complete the cycle.
In addition to that, it may explain why the skykids are filling in for the role of completing the cycle of life for the spirits, because the king is missing and the megabird is blinded.
I may have to look into it a bit further, though have a good feeling about this crazy thought.
the lore man.
For the second time in like a month, I saw a post on r/SkyGame discussing what could've made the claw-looking scratches on a jar in Prairie temple.
And that reminded me of something
How come I never see ppl discussing what happened in vault of knowledge archives
Yall ever wonder why there's a frikkin hole that looks like an explosion did the wall in
Like, wat happened? A heist?
Now that I think about it, without that hole, there wouldn't have been any way to access the interior of the archives
Good point. It is the most corrupted area in vault (though very mild in comparison to other realm).
There are also no spirits in the archives themselves (that I know of).
Would it have been a raiding group of spirits, maybe?
That brings up the question, what the heck was in there that needed to be sealed? Forbidden Knowledge??
Another hole that looks like made by another explosion
Don't know what's up w these jars but they do seem out of place. Maybe they were used to carry explosives until the thieves had no more use of them?
Vault means to lock something away. In this case, it could be memories, knowledge, or even refined energy.
Blue light usually represent power the ancestors used. Would those floating prisms be batteries?
Either way, whatever tore through the archive must have either got lost and was looking for a way out (given how the exit and the enterance are int the same place shos that vault has weird physics).
Or, it was chasing after something that tried to hide in the archive.
And then just in the next room there's this ladder leading up into a hole in the ceiling.
Common thieves just after any old valuables in there wouldn't have bothered to make a specific detour; this one's made by someone who probably knows exactly what they're going for.
In short, they were after something specific in the vault and they know that's where it's kept. Question remains what.
something else I've noticed is that the amount of memory cubes on the wall decreases as you go down each floor
What else would ancestors keep in their vault?
Or was it a specific memory?
I also noticed that this is a dead end, and from here u gotta go back down to proceed.
But as u follow what we now use as an exit, there's another hole in the wall
and we get teleported back to where we started... the area really doesn't make sense in terms of structure
Except this one's different from the other ones. The rubble is going towards the interior, not the exterior. Also notice how thick this 1 last wall is. The hole even makes a tunnel cuz of how thick this one wall is
Even if it is an old concept, the cubes do let spirits relive memories.
What if each cube is a spirit memory and tthe ones we find in the world are spirit memories the escaped?
(Am not fully convinced of this idea, though sharing it if anyone else wants to pick it up).
Doesn't seem to have been made by an explosion, since:
A. an explosion that powerful would've arguably destroy not only the wall but also some surrounding area as well, and
B. the other side of the deep hole in the thick wall doesn't have any rubble
If I were to hazard a guess then I'd say this one's dug up instead of exploded. But why?
Why can't the thieves just go back to the entrance where they came in?
What stopped them from doubling back?
We're they being chased?
But that wouldn't have made sense cuz digging a hole that deep in a vault wall probably would've taken an enormous amount of time, if it were possible at all
maybe they didn't have more ladders to install and climb up to the initial floor
that seems really weird though, they brought in jars and a ladder and had enough equipment to break walls but nothing to climb out with? Not even a rope?
But evidently they succeeded in digging the hole, and got out.
That they kept on digging a vault wall kinda makes me feel like they can't go back up the way they came
But that's weird right?
Exactly. They thought of bringing a ladder with them but they can't go back up? Sth is suspicious
Was there a threat behind them that crept on chasing them slowly?
Feel like kinda a long shot tho
Going off on a tangent here.
the game goes over the journey of life, though it does end with death. On the contrary, the game specifically states that the real journey starts after death.
Looking at real world history, parts of the game seems to parallel the cultures of Buddhism (monasterises, temple, stupas), japanese mythology (I need to look into it more, though can use the torrii gate as a starting point), christianity (the king being prophesied and living among mortals for a time), greek mythology (demigods, and overcoming great challenges to reach olympus, or the realm of the gods) and so on.
To refine this loose idea may require to look at these cultures and compare to the events in the game to build up a clear picture, and thus possibly reveal what the game means with its afterlife theme.
The thing here is, there is no apparent entrance or exit to the inside of the archive blocks meaning that it wasn't planned to be used, but there are candles everywhere, which need ventilation, and holographic lantern things that float around for whatever purpose.
maybe they used the archives like a bunker from the eden explosion lmao
like some people decided to burrow in the deepest parts of the vault and decided to live there with the memory cubes to help them figure out a solution
doesn't explain the weird dug out exit though
Yah...
And then there's the thing that u mentioned earlier
That last corridor leading back to the entrance of the archive just shows a long tunnel into black
Idk, that area transition doesn't feel natural design wise.
I feel like there's an absence of sth here, like maybe possibly another area leading out (ala forest underground cave) that got cut. (altho if this was rly the case then it's just kinda disappointing lol)
Anyways this has been a vault heist discussion that led to nowhere lol
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
Vault is probably the weirdest place in Sky
doesn't give a lot of info despite its name and only gives the smallest details...
If anyone figures this out, pls @ me, cuz I rly wanna hear how this could've possibly gone uwu
yeah, I'd like to know more but the dots really aren't connecting
One of the reasons why it's my fave place, and also why the LTP map feels kinda disjointed to me lel (like it doesn't rly belong in vault, vibe wise)
But then again vault has alw been house to the secret area, aka cccccombobreaker
Oh oh! Also:
DID THE VAULT ELDER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE HEIST CUZ THAT SCAR ON THEIR CHIN
(bet I just blew yer mind)
that would be interesting
it's gonna be disappointing if they got it from smthn like dropping a memory cube tho
Maybe vault elder was held hostage and there were some kind of standoff? Like a knife scar or sth
Or maybe scar from trying to fight off the thieves (but that would've been less interesting than the former)
Hmmmm dug a hole to secretly get away from a drawn out hostage negotiation?
Makes more sense now, but feels kinda a longshot still, since I doubt anyone can breach a hole in vault wall that thick without making any noise and giving themselves away
Maybe it's connected to the sun and diamond factions in vault? Like maybe the Sun wouldn't give away the necessary info or resources needed for complex diamond tech so Diamond kidnapped the vault elder and trapped them down in the archives and Diamond rummaged through the archives only to find nothing and they bust a hole bc the Sun was blocking the entrance
There r factions in vault? Whuh
If there was a war between two sides in gw, I figured that must've affected or been derived from the division throughout the kingdom
yknow the diamond shields and sun shields in wasteland points to a war between the two groups
Oh wow thanks for bringing this to my attention; I never noticed the diff shield markings!
I'll take a closer look next time I come by battlefield!
I really don't know much about that particular theory; I'm just mostly guessing here haha
ight back at it again to ruin yall's discussion. that common theory is ||king propaganda||
i want to go back into lore where do i start
also wth is this slowmode what did you guys do
But u sure it's a war between 2 factions?
Cuz from the way the weapons r strewn about more n more densely near the gate, as u get closer to the gate, kinda feels like a last stand against sth attacking towards the temple
anywhere, u can start by asking questions
okay, what did i miss? any new theories that popped up in the last 2-4 months?
Maybe it's diff tribes uniting n fighting a common foe... Like krills, maybe?
omg someone got it
, very well lore moth, very well
not that i know of, some are just further discussions on existing lore; going deep
Nope, as far as I heard anyway
Did I do well? Do I get headpats now? uwu
Nothing rlly changed in lore chat, aside from the Nintendo trailer, krills are canonically corrupted and the chat being even more dead than before. Yeah
Whatever, Kitsuwu
||it was fine until the uwu
||
regulars come and go so when they do pop in with their theories, it usually gets buried so theres that aswell
better than a warzone between theories
Ye, and Megabirb and King Propaganda having wars as usual
Nothing new
Check out my vault heist hypothesis, we got to a literal dead-end. Could use more tinfoil hats joining the think army
ud wish it was a warzone of theories, cus atleast theres new lore being created
i was really defensive about my theories and what's considered canon and that really took all the fun away from making wacky brain food. if you've seen me here last year you'd probably know what i mean.
is it possible they dug in from the hole in the lowest floor and made their way up?
It’s okay, mate what kind of matters is that we learn from our mistakes ig
Hmmm I considered that, but that wouldn't have made sense cuz the very first hole at the beginning shows signs of the wall being exploded in (as opposed to out)
hey everyone i have a few questions… do the crabs attack us because we burn their food? the dark plants? and do the krill attack us only because we look very similar to mantas who are their ideal prey? if they really did attack us for our light why don’t they hoover up our wings?
What if some scholars were cornered in the lower floors for a long time before they managed to dig a hole and escape with whatever knowledge they can take
Oh ya, I remember in the canon doc about crabs destroying walls or erosion?? But uh here :D
crabs are hostile to us because theyre corrupted and krill attacks us because theyre corrupted aswell
speaking of crabs, are the red-eyed creatures in the switch trailer crabs?
i don’t believe in this theory, it has been stated by the devs that there is a natural flow of darkness and light in the sky kingdom and they existed even before the “explosion” which only created an imbalance of darkness to light
Spider crabs, spider crabs
insert Spiderman’s theme but Spidercrabs
Oh, krills being corrupted beings is canon sadly
it has also been confirmed that krills are corrupted, its true that theyve existed well before the disaster, but not in the state theyre in currently
you said i didnt miss anything, now krills being corrupted is canon?
so they attack any moving thing just for the sake of it? is that why the crabs hide when in their light?
2nd anniversary qna, theres a part somewhere that says "how they looked like before- time will tell" referring to krills
no, theyre specifically hostile to light creatures, or any semblance of life with light
That would beg the question why they were cornered there in the first place, since that whole area doesn't seem to have a natural entrance built into it (entrance by explosion, exit by dug hole)
But u gave me an idea to consider the problem as a locked room mystery so thank u!
so it's dark creatures getting darker?
if that's the case, then old pre-disaster krills would look like long soft-ish worms instead of dragon-like creatures with scales. I've seen somewhere that darkness causes jagged edges, and the krill model's underbelly/stomach is actually smooth unlike it's spiky back.
The results of the slomo
reason why krills is spiky, is cus of the darkness' nature. so ye they mightve been smooth bois floating around willy nilly
krills concept art flashbacks
Leeches.
these bois aint as lame as those dusty shrimps, look at them healthy teeth
this fit into the sky world more than the krills actually. krills seems out of place imo
this picture will always remind me of no face from spirited away when it goes on a rampage and eats everything
especially along with these majestic bois
9/10 krills recommend
/just scrolled up to the crab attac us topic
/in the switch trailer crabs used to be afraid of us, and was scared away using light
They also has these bell-looking hats on top
those crabs had some assembly drip
/pfft
/where did the bell looking hats tho?? Did we took them of? Is that why they became angry??
back again with another spirit headcanon
this time its for the Slouching Soldier
because i was looking through his spirit memories and it had some other spirits show, so i came up with a few stories which might be what the memories were about
so in the Soldier's memory we can find 6 other spirits featured; that being the Fainting Warrior
, Backflipping Champion
, Saluting Captain
, and an unnamed spirit that had 2 others holding onto it which i predict to be the Slouching Soldier's wife
the appearance of the 3 warriors tells me that they were investigating the Soldier's giant Pot that he resides in only to discover so much containers filled with dark water that the Slouching Soldier consumes, the 3 of them came to perhaps scold them or maybe just take a look around as an investigation
we then again saw 3 other spirits that had 1 who had the Praying Acolyte's hair (presumably the Acolyte herself before she started working in the Vault) with 2 other shorter spirits (which could be the children of the Slouching Soldier) both holding onto the mother, fearful of what their father had become
the Slouching Soldier was perhaps a sorrowful man who had been through alot, to the point where he'd start consuming dark water and try to forget everything only to feel ashamed for being caught by the 3 Soldiers and his own wife and children, yet he continues to consume the dark water to forget it all but he can only feel shame
what spirit should i start making a headcanon about next
Woah nice!
Narcissistic Performer?
seems interesting actually
based on my headcanon i think the Gloating Narcissist was probably an overconfident man who was a Valley Elder wannabe, but sadly he cant become an elder just by his looks and he also has no audience.
he continues to try and pursue his dream of being an elder yet no matter how hard he tries he may never succeed to becoming one
Oh, mannnn...I didn’t notice the other Spirits win the memory (other than the mother and kids)! Gosh. I really hope that maybe the LP season will allow us to free the LP Spirits from their chains...but I suppose it might be better in keeping with the book to show them remain in their vicious cycles
It also reminds me a lot of Demise’s incomplete form in LoZ: Skyward Sword
(And heyyy, a fellow Ghibli fan!
)
Which actually some aspects of Sky remind me of Skyward Sword (especially the Sanctuary Islands! The floating islands immediately made me think of the LoZ: SS area above the clouds...er, I forget what it’s called...)
/skyloft?
Yeah! That’s it
Thanks
Now, what about the Scholar?
Maybe he’s some guy from the Vault who was so absorbed in his studies and the work of archiving important info, he isolated himself from his fellow peers. Maybe that’s why he’s in the desert...he became a scholarly hermit there
His work consumed him, to the the point of not living life! Not seeing the LP in front him while he’s busy studying him in a book is a good example
/the dessert is part of vault tho
(Though wow, I guess those books he was reading prophesy lol. Maybe Scholars could literally “read the stars” to have certain things revealed to them...
)
True true. But it seems to be a very isolated place. And he’s the only scholar there (and he certainly doesn’t interact with his neighbors)
He’s way up in the clouds (is he the highest up?); kinda ironic—his head is literally in the clouds lol
Maybe not the right channel but
Do mantas each have names
Like the mini ones too that look like birds
/ uhh, not really
Hey, seems like the type of question perfect for this channel, haha
Good question too. I used to call the big white mantas “manta birds”, since they looked like a mix of a manta and a bird to me, but most people seem to just call them mantas. (Though, what about the memory ones? They look more like an actual sea manta to me...or are they the same as the white ones???)
*ughh cool down is sooo longggg. I just want to correct a typo
*
||the realizations mantas do have names.||
/there's a manta chart made by ali
Idk
I just searched up on Google rn and the whale looking pretty thing in daylight is called
elder manta
And others are like spirit manta
On the topic of mantas do white mantas turn into spirit mantas when the sun goes down?
The whale is a manta???
you could be right on this one
Here you go,
How did the vault mantas became
starry mantas anyway ✨
/we see manta bones in vault
The whale has no yellow, idk if ts related ti the giant manta in sanctuary
I just call it a Whorm.
I thought the elder manta were the really BIG ones you see in Prairie and the Sanctuary Islands
Have you ever wondered how these
well
Mantas exist
and think that they grow like children or not
I mean mantas are cute okay,
they look like they’re grown, don’t judge me <><>
wait, did the
spirits come from our world or the prince's world? i've heard conflicting information about him
The whales I’m thinking of are the ones you see in the GW lobby and the Underground Cave
They look more worm-like and now looking at the sanctuary island pic of the eldermanta, I think they look different from it???
/yea the whales dont have these,, fins things
We were discussing this just the other day. I was curious if they had similar life cycles to real live animals
But I think official TGC statements say that they just originate from coalesced light. But maybe they start off small and grow though? They just don’t have babies
Yeah,
But why doesn’t the vault one have ?
I mean looks obvious cause
it’s a vault
Although when finishing eden we get the uhh
instead
/vault seems to be a projection of shorts, nothing is real in there
Ooh thanks! What do you think about the Stretching Lamplighter? He’s one of my favorites (cool conductor hat, cool conductor hat
)
Ah, ok ty
/maybe only dead stuff reside in vault
holograms
I agree that vault is a projection or dream state, would you say the starlit desert is also the same?
Yeah I’m wondering that too. It’s based off the book so many say it isn’t “canon” and doesn’t connect to the lore, but I like to think it does though
vault may have some holograms, but i disagree that it's all just a dream (GAH 1 MINUTE SLOWMODE HOW)
WHERE ARE MY HEARTS series
Pssst chesca come
Yeah I don’t like the idea that it was all a dream, but perhaps one can say the vision in the last part is
And perhaps the whole thing are projections but they are magical and perhaps it depends on the Skids mental state or something
/it's just propably a dream
if the Forgotten Ark and Sanctuary Islands are real, then i don't see why we section off seasonal areas if they're a crossover
Well I mean that the meeting with the vault elder is real but it’s like a divine vision. Tho okay all meetings with the elders are
But it’s interesting how after that vault vision we are suddenly before the gate to the eye of Eden and everything looks so...dejected and stark. Like we just woke up suddenly from a sweet dream to a harsh reality lol
I think that it doesn’t go that far,
Because the starlight desert is probably like the reference to the Little prince movie in Netflix, in the desert somewhere with the person who fled the plane,
And he asked him to draw him a sheep.
So, I think the desert is a reference to that,
And the sky is a reference to the movie, or either the vault because he likes stars,
And trying to be fit.
And, the Little prince spirits are probably based of each King in the movie.
Yes, correct! I’ve seen the film and read the book, so I get what you mean. But I like to think the Spirits there, even in being inspired by the book, have some relevancy to sky’s greater lore. I mean, we do see some spirits from other places in Sky in the Slouching Soldier’s memory
So I guess it’s just YMMV
I don’t really think it’s a dream, because it aswell connects to the eye of eden or smth.
And, maybe the mantas all look different.
But the elders are all gathered.
And the game is called sky so
Almost everything looks complicated
I’m talking specifically of the spirit manta in the starlit desert, many are saying that the spirit mantas in the vault are hologram. I’m asking if that theory extends to the one in the starlit desert or is it something different?
/yea, but vault seems to be a scape goat whenever tgc wanted a non canon thing, ||office|| for example
The Starlight desert spirits are all based off the Book characters and it’s flipping funny on how well made they are into the setting of the game so ya
Ohhhh good question
I think maybe the starlight desert might be a mix of reality and a dream then? Maybe it’s real but some of the memories/magic from vault leaks in
Agree 🤔
But I somewhat think the manta is there because it’s a little prince thing,
or either it used to be for something,
But I did noticed the manta did dissapeared until then.
I don’t know why
But I agree it’s like that
Which would explain the dream like states of the chained spirits.
But maybe it is a dream,
I mean the vault got rekt by a fish thing in the eye of eden
and none of the vault mantas like
Followed
now idk what I was supposed to talk about
Huh??? Sorry but what are you referring to with a fish destroying the vault?

Well more like after dying in eye of eden,
A random fish thing just
AWW MAN I DELETD THE PHOTO NOOOO
Aw sorry
Random photo here u go
Edit: yeah maybe it wasn’t the big fish whale
That’s so weird! Why don’t I remember this???
Like what part does this happen. And obviously it couldn’t be destroyed or else we wouldn’t be able to go back to it after we are reborn
I think the Spirit Manta in the Starlight Desert may be a sign of memories of the lost I guess, acting on a what leftover light that comes into a form of manga for everything. It flies around the Desert and the Prince seemed to have caused an effect on the area he was around, as the area probably is a loosen collection of what the Prince has seen and the Desert just reflects out the memories as stable and wondrous creations of what is remembered
Oh gosh wow that’s a cool idea. The leaking magic from the vault is indeed affected by other person’s memories!!
Maybe someone has to have something unique to have the place reflect them. How was the prince so special that an entire world reflects himself?
Or maybe the place just is little prince-esque, and it is just coincidental. LP just happens to arrive in a place suited to him lol
Though even in this theory I think there is leaking Archive magic
I mean, the last time my game crashed all the realms are closed.
And I had to take the weird teleportation thing to continue,
Maybe they all close and reset.
But if there were to have another isle with many other realms,
Wouldn’t that mean the king will have more family or smth
with more elders?
WW2 SKY HAPPENS
jk
And I wonder about this area in wasteland
kinda sus
Near the entry of wasteland.
/i see nothing special explain
Idk
Where do you think this leads to?
The Vault of Knowledge is what I can tell, a structure of loosen levels that holds a garden and more on the inside as we go up it. The first level is a scattered graveyard as always, it’s a structured archive that I can tell is the main hall that leads to the elevator going up, that storages more knowledge, but it seems that it has scattered and broken over the centuries as we can see disconnected trees and platforms, they may have been more connected and such with each other and the space have been a place to study plant growth as we see on the level. The next level seems to be a resting area to say the least, a place of peace and prayer of some kind by the many places that you can just chill at and nothing more really. The the second to last level…. It is a dead zone for mantas to be studied…. I have nothing else to say since I can’t come up with anything else really….
Last level is just Vault Elder Level to be going to epic archive of secrets.
Huh. That never happened to me before.
Did your game crash when you were in Eden? Maybe it does that when it crashes while your are playing past the Point of No Return?
There is that portal in front of the statue in the Home area: it takes you to the last place you were before when you last played. Is that what you are referring to?
I think of that too.
WAIT THEN AFTER THE VAULT ELDER HOW DID IT EVEN TELEPORT US?
TO EDEn?????
Ooh, nice analysis of the utility of the area in the Vault.
Though man my memory is bad.
I didn’t know their were plants in the Vault
The Stone is the Elevator
its like the magic couch jutsu, vault is a dream-like place, lamed carries u to the top as u sleep
Yeah after the Vault Elder vision I think we are on the top of the vault tower. You are in front of the gate to the eye of Eden on top of the elevator (notice the broken hologram stone...the same one that moved our elevator upward throughout the vault level)
I wonder what happened to wasteland after getting freedom in eye of eden now
I mean everything is a loop
imagines Lamed like a good parent gently carrying a sweetly sleeping Skid
I’m part of the team that thinks the vault ain’t a dream but still, that’s such a cute idea
We basically were moving up to the Elder, but when we hand her the stone and fall into dream state of seeing people bow, we are quietly dragged into the secret back room inside the Elder island and then just teleported to the true final level.
Oh btw during valley i found these guys connecting
i dont think vault is a dream either, but its wack nonetheless
Oh that spirit memory! I got that the other day. Really cute
Yes, very pog but it looks so nice to see these guys doing stuff
Yeah it really is quite whack, as you say
thats spirits from season of belonging, its straight up a family of spirits wandering around
You know, as I haven’t been around to experience previous seasons, can someone explain to me why I have to ring a bell to get the attention of past seasonal spirits?
Basically Vault does exist, it’s just really messed up by a lot dead beings, hidden light knowledge, and secret doors
ring a bell? u referring to sanct?
Yeah!! Form what I’ve heard/seen, a mom, a daughter, a son, and a grandpa.
Is there also a dad?
what is essential is invisible to the eye
It’s only for belonging spirit if I’m right
YOU READED MY STATUS,
Your going to eden! ):<<<
Yeah I guess my skid does that animation when interacting with those spirits then. My bad. But anyway, yeah, why a bell?
I think it’s kinda cool. Like, they’re so caught up in a memory I have to ring a sacred bell to snap them out of it or something lol 🔔
I love how my auto correct turned sacred in scared
i dont think theyre relatives of sorts, theyre just theme park goers, all being guided by the QG through sanctuary
Plot twist:
“They are ringing the discord notification bell pinging @ everyone”
...are you intimating that Spirits go to the land of Sky to visit like tourists??
I thought the Spirits goal is to finally get to heaven (Eden), but this makes me think they like to return to earth to chill lol
🤔
do we call it earth or-
‘Call it wasteland,
Everyone took they’re time and they wasted on a few realms but get to see a few cool spirits.’
the ancestors are social beings, they have social structures very similar to humans, ofc theyd want entertainment of any form, theres valley colliseum to start with
Skids ring the bell to tell the belonging spirits to go home to have a dinner/lunch with the belonging QG (it’s only for belonging spirits)
YES, I LOVE THIS
I wasn’t around for the season but it’s cute as heck
I love the forest ancestor
he’s the only wholesome one I think
Sh wrong reply
/they have rhythm performers if that says anthing
Oh yeah of course! But I was under the impression that every spirit w help is stuck in a memory from former days. With the Spirit Family we are talking about, you make it sound like that Spirits came down from Eden to simply vacation in the world of Sky!
Points to the graves
Guys, we just reliving their memories
Wait what’s a QG
The cutscene happens when you’ve completed the season if I remember correctly
what, are we skids reapers
thats not impossible either, theres assembly QG that descended to save his lost friends and have fun with em while ur doing his quests
the people who stand next to the portals in home
/quest giver
Ohhh cool! And duh, I guess I forgot about the Season of Propehcy guy chilling in front of the ark as well as the Sanctuary Islands guy wanting to revive the island
Though I also could’ve interpreted those two as never having gone to Eden yet, but just staying around on earth until their last wishes are fulfilled (though again the sanctuary islands guy sticks around even after I complete his quests
)
They chill and we don’t quest it
with the exception of the first four qg all of them stay forever
Ohh gotcha. Thanks.
My first QG of all time is the LP Rose then. 🌹
Missing Rhythm QG
i mean the lost spirits we saved are staying around, we did save them to finally ascend, but they can descend at will because; game says theyre our friend now apparently
maybe they’ll come back someday
Well, I guess yeah, basically. But WHOLESOME ones without the macabre trappings lol. I think the official term is psychopomp
Awwww
I like the idea of Spirits being able to stick around or visit. It makes their former deaths less...depressing lol
WAIT. YOURE BACK?!
Your name looks familiar
they even join us when its our time to ascend aswell, thats why we see them floating around in orbit giving us candle wax and in orbit space giving their ascended wings
aha??? idk, maybe we’ve talked before
What if there was a update where you can sit with spirits on the bench just for the daily quest,
Super great and the lore wouldn’t have to bother much about spirits.
Oh yea
I’ve only played once thru Eden, so in my mind they were there to say their final goodbyes before going on to Heaven
tgc's slowly making them more interactable, now they can stare at u when u get close to their stones in home spaces
Yo do Spirits get reborn, or is it only a skid thing?
Or are we skids reincarnated spirits???
petition for tgc to add friendship trees to all qgs
idk but did elders die?
I mean you can’t ‘relive’ them
and they randomly get summoned when u sit like u just prayed to some kind of like
idk
I think most of the community assumes they are almost like gods. So on a different level. They are eternal, and they live in a higher plane or something. In the stars.
Or perhaps Eden, actually
the elders are in another dimension and it’s unclear if they’re dead
Let’s make a ritual of summoning elders,
And question them in a dark room with 1 light on.
I don’t think its natural for Elders to rebirth. Since I think they where made to watch over the rebirth cycle.
Now opinions differ on whether they were always gods or normal spirits that ascended
We’re at the same Yeti x Post server
We kinda talked b4
well the opening sequence says they are stars that fell from the sky, so i doubt they were ever normal people
Elders being Normal spirits that ascended was the old timeline concept story. Current one for the time being is that they where always the way they are now.
i dont think so, ancestors seems to be organic as far as ive seen from the switch trailer making them incapable of returning to their bodies, but their souls can manifest perfectly as they once were, once saved
OHHH fhejdjshd yes lol
Oh really! Interesting
I still kinda like the ascended back story though
Spirits do go to orbit though. Looks like they just kinda chill there though.
Spirits in orbit, very very pog
What’s more pog is they give us some candles during we touch them or get near them
||ABSORBING UR MEMORIES.||
||jk||
I like to think that beyond the Star part in Eden we skids experience, there is a paradise of rest for the Spirits 🥺 They deserve a long break lol
Though maybe it’s different from the typical idea of Heaven. They get to freely traverse living and dead worlds!
Wait what if everything was just a alternate universe
In the old timeline (like planning stages old) Prince gave them stones of power or something to turn them to elders. While I don’t think its the case anymore, it is interesting to note Prince still gives the Elders something to boost them in other ways, in the forms of elements in prophecy murals.
being saved is already a break for them, now they can do tea parties in orbit when were not bothering them in home spaces or calling them from their constellations
I can’t wait until I can unlock them there!
Yo are you saying that we skids are wiped clean when reborn
death is a factory reset
I like that! I do think theres more to orbit than floating about and 1 stary room. Having a type of civilization there just fits.
Oh yes! The lore chat talked about the lights and the idea of the Prince giving them to the elders as gifts (that also influenced how the elders defined their realms...and that the prince might’ve made a mistake and mixed them up, which explains how the realms might’ve been negatively affected
) I like that idea
the discuss channel is being wholesome, what in gods name is happening?
I havent been here for a hot second. So I dunno what turned it unwholesome
theres these eden bois we saved that sheds their body that turns into ascended candles and ascends further into the heavens afterwards. so ye theres other place further from orbit
Aren’t we always wholesome?
Boogie kid: S-So we were all ascended candles this whole time?
TGC: always has been.
(JK JK)
But wait are they the winged light or the skid friends we saved
And some of those are the skids we met in game, so I assume they are reborn like we are and don’t go on to the upper realms of heaven
You can actually see how each elder used their gift in prophecy mural too. Interesting that it has Valley with floating buildings.....
hehe floating building go brr
One person on here stated that the only elder who got the right element light was the Prairie Elder
Explains the lack of corruption (krills and flowers) there
So the friends who were in heaven
W-WERE ALL SHREDDED TO A-ASCENDED CANDLES?!!!
I saw this on a Facebook post and looks promising
They are probably more like something the spirits create. Maybe they are like the Gratitude Crystals from LoZ: SS—a thing that coalesces and appears from pure gratitude from a person
Haha, elder wasteland and the elder forest is on a relationship
GW n Forest both had diamond factories
WHATS THIS???

I see the Forest elder final area..and the green part looks like that one spot with the krill and upturned golden wheel thing in GW
Which actually I didn’t connect the GW broken wheel with the one in Forest! Neat!
ok, let’s go live on wasteland and investigate with the krills.
That explains it!!
just discussed the diamond factory thigh on here the other day
And please let me know if you’re in the camp that believes they used crushed up light animals to feed the diamond machines
So long as you are the bait scouter
I WILL GO CATCH SOME CRABS JUST FOR THIS LORE,
WITH THAT ONE SPIRIT.

thats actually a good pointers. ive always thought eden statues being different than us skids 2.0, but now i think they can be reborn like us and be like us when certain conditions are met
I remember that some of the statue skids I freed in Eden had the names of my former friends on them
I wonder why that valley is so fresh as a apple except when it comes until wasteland,
How did the spirits die anyway
When it looks so fresh before wasteland
Okay so that’s what we discussed we the Light Elements the other day
i always thought valley got hit with like. super bad avalanche or smth
Mmmm I dunno if I think diamonds took manta squish. Im leaning towards yes, but I guess it could have also just been that the diamonds eat up light in general instead of having to squish up a creature they know is helpful and generally appreciate.
The Diamond explosion like a nuke that blast wave kills the spirits
ah u mean that, well i think the premise of it is, when we ascend, every friends and every other skids that was yeeted down ascends with us, basically we worked our way into eden together along with the ones we save along the way. thats how i think tgc wanted to write the story as
And I DO think the statues in Eden are other skykids just like you, and now its pretty much proven by becoming one yourself after you run out of light! Those poor guys just wanted more AC to be tall
The crying spirit was crying to death
btw guys why does
why does eye of eden have many garbage tunnels like that
a
Sneak 100
unless they do another change to eden, specifically the statue bois after reaching orbit space. skids 1.0 and skids 2.0 hc is still where im at
The light elements shown in the season of prophecy (the forgotten ark). Theory is that the Prince gave each one to the Elders., and each element allowed the elders to define their land with them (like Wind for the prairie elder I think)
But prince gave the wrong lens to the wrong elders so the elements affected each area negatively (exactly for the prairie elder)
I wonder what the universe of sky would be like if everything was opposite
Hello krills, welcome
its just odd to me that they couldnt save themselves, but we can
Yes yes! That’s what I think!
This is just like
Airbenders
Especially the isle of dawn trial beauty ancestor
Has anyone like look at the cave of prophecies like everything in the ceiling
And see a krill like
And get such theories
Like, just by looking at ancient stuff
IM GETTING U A SCREENSHOT.
*Water. Earth. Fire. Air.
Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the corruption came. Only the Skids, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed them most, they vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Skid, an airbender named YOURNAMEHERE, and although their airbending skills are great, they have a lot to learn before they’re ready to save anyone. But I believe Skid can save the world.*
Mega helpful to me that I can’t understand it still
And hey, you can now draw a krill, happy!?? 😂😂
THIS IS TOO PERFECT

ok uh
New (to me) thought:
I thought is was odd that this symbol didn’t show megabird flying up, but then I realized rotating the image made the symbol look like someone else (read: prince and/or king). So maybe the fact that megabird is shown flying sideways is meant to convey some sense that megabird is not just above skids, but with them, and also that the powers of darkness are defeated and toppled (king and/or prince shown in their sides instead of upright).
Psssssst, I'm still alive
Damn i should draw these symbols on my cardboard fortress
:]
Also there’s something to be said here about a diamond (power symbol) being placed at megabird’s heart while the diamond (power symbol) is placed at the prince’s head
Please don’t joke about that bomb
im new to this thread/ lore but all of a sudden i’m like..... is sky supposed to be a playthrough of purgatorio 🤨🤨🤨
What’s purgatorio-
Maybe we don’t save ourselves at Eden. What if the figure we meet is a kid who saves us? Because all the statues we save have skykid shaped figures come out of them, so we might have saved them.
lol it’s the realm leading up to heaven as written by dante in his divine comedy. divided in rings you ascend through, actually always imagined it to look like the end part of eden when you progress further into the cosmos. it’s definitely a stretch but i kinda like the idea of it being an inspirational spark linking with the concept of sky.
Ohhhh, thanks! Considering Sky’s realms are basically the stages of life, maybe
yes! i wonder if people here have already connected or compared the sky universe to any specific myths and religious beliefs ? the idea of perpetual reincarnation actually fits very poorly with christian ideas of the afterlife lol 💥🔨
Yeah, a lot of people connected Sky with religion a lot
well ye, we dont save ourselves but its the only way i knew to phrase it relative to the eden statues that couldnt save themselves, like we can wake ourselves up after hugging the prince in the void. wat i was implying was- why dont the eden statues have a connection to the prince like we do, which saves us but not them. thats also part of why i think theyre different to us
Sky is journey but upgraded and downgraded at the same time
Oh, I don’t think the figure is the Prince, but rather the another skykid who sacrifices their light to save us. I think that’s where the confusion is.
king and prince is often thought as the same entity so i based it on that and called the void shiny boi prince, because king is tall and strong
Ooooooo interesting… I didn’t know that
yes its our own little secret now and i guess with those that lurk 👀
Let's not use/discuss game files here as part of theories or a topic discussion please. That's very close to (if not already) data-mining which is against TOS, as well as our server rules

If you have a problem with that, you're more than welcome to bring it up to TGC by DMing @untold pivot. But these are the rules you agreed to when you joined both the game as well as the server
do u know why the whale in boneyard is dead?

Prolly died from krills or people just hunted them too much they ya
Are the elders dead
no
Rlly? my friend told me that were dead
no theyre not dead
Ooh okay ty
Nah, they’re chilling between life and death (aka, limbo)
Do you guys know what the diamond above the elevator is?
Probably a battery like all the rest
Makes sense. Because i see the things everywhere. Doors, elevators, platforms, bridges, boats, etc.
Why does doors need 2 diamonds?
We light up one (which turns yellow), and then it lights up another one( that turns blue).
Is it because the diamonds convert yellow/orange flame energy into a refined state, that is blue.
Maybe, there's no dedinitive answer
So what you say may be correct
Yellow and orange light is usually a sign of a decently warm light that can be harmful, but not really that bad. Blue light seems to be more powerful overall compared to before since it’s a closer off tone to white light
Whats limbo?
That reflects real life, where blue flames are hotter than yellow/orange
A space in between
Ooh okay, tyty! How did they get into limbo?
That’s basically where they live I think
purgatory and limbo is essentially synonymous, so if u know wat purgatory is thats pretty much it
Oooh thats cool, thank you!
An thoughts on how the beams of light in the trials look very similar to the beam of light before orbit?
Oooo I saw something that might explain that somewhere, let me just find it
This might be a similar thing with the trial grounds, since they seem incredibly important to the ancestors
actually limbo refers to the place unbaptized children (etc) go after death, so it’s the afterlife for those who can’t enter the hell/ heaven cycle, while Purgatorio is a stepping stone on the way to heaven. but you are right, nowadays, limbo is broadly used to talk about in betweenness , which in a way, depending what you consider to be the destination, they both are 🙂
YALL ARE FORGETTING SOMETHING!! WHEN WE DIE OUTSIDE OF SACRIFICE WE GET SENT TO A BLACK ROOM WITH A NORMAL WINGED LIGHT! THIS IS PARTLY WHY I THINK WE SAVE OURSELVES! AND ALSO BECAUSE I MADE IT SOUND VERY WHOLESOME I THINK:
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
I'll stop yelling now
that sounds like a cool oob, could you link it?
What bomb?
im new here and i have a question, what is megabird??
Megabird is Sky deity
deity?
god
I also didn't know, I'm not really into lore aha
oo
Correction: a sky deity. Check the about me section.
This thing might be Megabird, if you want concept art you can look it up
oh ejdhjjs
what lore is related to it? I've seen charts of times it was seen
ooo
Megabird supposedly created, but we have 0 evidence. All we have is the final shot in the end credits and a non-canon area
oh
ohh
A lot of lore actually, there are a bunch of interesting characters, like the King
Basically it’s some giant light being that is the main source of all creation in the Sky World, but we don’t know if that actually true in any good way since it’s just chilling among the stars
yeah I kinda know about the king and prince, corrupted the krills, started the war with gw who fought back
ah
the king who??
Eden elder, old prince, Storm, resh, guy, he goes by many names
Resh babey :D
The King is well-liked in the lore chat
I heard someone need backup
King king prince king king king prince king king.
also the shields in gw have a sun or a diamond, symbolizing gw and the elder fighting?
DID SOMEONE SAY KING
also credit goes to Bea for the video
Wait how is this guy the king
He looks a mural version of the King
can i ask more questions? i wanna know about dis stuff
Hang on I’ll show ya
And he’s on top,simple
T||his sounds very weird out of context||
Basically the guy is just person raised in Isle that somehow obtained Ultimate wisdom and element powers that would make him rule the land… except he made poor choices by false interpretations of some things
Ask away, but keep in mind there’s 0 definitive answer and everything is a theory. It’s up to you to pick the best one.
oh alright
Well,knowledge is power
You either use it properly or not
false interpretations??
Yes
Ya know,elder manipulation,megabird stuff,dark matter,the usual stuff
oo
Ever wake up and found out everything in your life was a lie?
Yeah
Also
But wait I got one more to connect it all
Objection: What about the 4 tiny bits found in
and almost every other interpretation of the king?
The simplified symbol doesn’t have those
AAAARGH I tried to avoid it, but I must face my doom. I just got reshed.
That or that was the prince/no mech king
TAKE THAT! Depictions are commonly seen without his iconic mask! THIS ONE HAS IT THOUGH
Dang lore chat is ace attorney now
been playing Aceattorney chronicles lately too
I think that’s more prince than king
I think its 100% prince. But in that storyboard, prince was inside Kings body. And unless King just decided he had a son and also his son looked tasty, I lean on the side of them being the same person, the original and corrupted version.
what what
Mmm yes Cronus vibes
I can’t find the part where it says you go in kings body. But I know it was either on or describing the page with the boss fight diagram
Wait, aren’t prince and king the same? They’re just younger and older versions of each other.
Prince can be child and king can be dad
The dad messed up so the child have to deal with his stuff
||He hates it||
Yes. I think it would have worked like how you light people to see their true selves. You melt your way and “light” king, to see his true form inside.
Elders having kids and being biological is such an odd idea to the way I think of it. I think thats actually included in Chinese lore. Depends if elders can grow. Or are stuck exactly as they where created. That would explain why Prince is standing in Kings facehole.
Sips tea The Prince is the Younger version of the King and I am only going off just the flipping idea that over the years the Prince got corrupted over time by his duties and what he has done or so I think and If we go off by Eden, The Prophecy thing, their is only one person that are above the elders and their no second person as I can guess from what I have seen…
I like the idea that Prince was so embarrassed being a permanent adorable beloved baby that he accidentally became the antagonist just so he could look like an adult.
Ok throw in some angst, story that teenagers can relate to,a cool design and skills
That would be one heck of a character
DO I SMELL KING LORE HERE
i posted these in #completed-sky-fanart-and-creations and #eden-spoilers respectively but they also belong here too
its a map of the sky continent (with seas)
the big squares represent temples
the little squares represent the main path
the purple square next to the starlight desert (the purple zone) is the vault tower
i also put in a eye of eden map
some clarification: like another person said in the eden spoilers chat, when i mean “the point of no return” i really mean the final krill area before the hallway
Whoever made this should use a different text color
look man i tried my best im sorry you dont like the text color
No like
Use lighter colors so we can actually see it
Mhm
what's that little piece that's off the main bit of vault? the summit?
you mean the island?
I have a feeling vault is actually all underground, leading to under the foot of the eden mountain and starlight desert is the huge land above it
otherwise, it is a really good map of the overall 😄
thats what this map supports
also the island is just a feature i put in to give the map more variety
oh right right! so it doesnt' refer to any actaul map in the game yet yeah?
nope its just based off of different views of eden (which i used as my reference point) and some understanding of actual geography
Sips tea The Map is good and honestly nice and pretty accurate by what I can tell, but their is some missing lore parts that can be added to this, mostly just Vault since the area itself is more connected within the Mountain that is Eden.
Hehehehuhu ye
Ooo nice one 👀
is there a canon name for mc ?
mc?
No, there’s not. This is a multiplayer game so uh-
i mean our characters lol this slowmode is killing me
oh ok nvm
Alright, i finally found this channel
welcome aboard
Welcome to Lore Chat, where there’s angst and occasional (joke) wars
There’s no evidence that there’s a queen in Sky nor concept arts, so there’s prolly no queen sadly
Okay so there was a king and a prince right? but wheres the queen?
There has not been any mention of a queen (that I know of).
If anything, the megabird, could possibly be a queen.
no queen, just megan and king/prince
Oh- welp, back to trying to figure out what happened to the king and why he became/and or got corrupted
Has there ever been proof of the spirits needing a second parent to be created?
welp, my apologies.
Okay so i've been wondering what happened to the king all the way back when i first ascended way back in late 2019
Well, in the canon doc. King can’t be saved anymore so uh died ig
Although i wasn't very lore associated back then
That is a good point.
Most parent spirits with children are single parents (the proud victor and his child, the season of dreams guide with the skater.)
well i mean im pretty sure all the spirits came from mega bird
Alright so send me the full lore document
Anyways

oh!
How about pointing candlemaker?
He has a family.
I was looking up if there were more spirits that had families.
Interestingly, the spirits in his memory have hair styles of other spirits, though their hair might not apply to their identity. The young spirit has ushering stargazer's hair and the older women has crying light miner's hair, though the rest of their appearance does not match the spirit that sell the hair.
So, there is a spirit family with both parents.
Nice. There's also the slouching soldier family with two kids
no proof, but u can logically work out one. ancestors doesnt seem to lay eggs independently if thats wat ur suggesting.
but isnt out of the question so who knows maybe they do
Vault lore?
I heard that the whole game actually happens Inside a candle o.O
flashbacks to the lizard ancestors theory
any proof?o.O the candle in the end of credit?
I don't have any proof but idk It's something I believe
Sounds cool.
I thought the red candle represents the start of a new life cycle, since it is not a short candle and is the same colour as the candle sky kids hold out to light things up.
If one were to be specific, it looks like a candle one would offer to spirits and friends, but red instead of white.
That's a good point! The candle at end of credits also made me think that
That would make a lot of sense since there are more rooms on the bottom floor and the higher we go, the less room there is to more around in.
Also, if it is really a pyramid, it nicely explains there is not outdoors (not counting the starry desert since we leave vault area and can't tell where the tunnel lead).
If Vault is a parody of the Egyptian tomb, that would open up a whole trove of theories!
i think scholars used some kind of tech that made a higher dimensional world higher up in vault like a solid hologram
Ppl refer to them as avatars ig? The collective species is Skykid
Hey lore chat! I'm new to the sky lore and would like to learn something about the lore, do you have any tips for me?
Here are some docs if you like-
The story is very open ended. Feel free to share your theories here. Also checkout the pins here
You don’t have to learn all what we have about lore in one go
You gradually gain more lore here so don’t fret
Most regulars can see if your theory can fit into canon or not,if not then your theory may open a new way to perceive a detail
but isn’t everyone dead? the sprits are dead but can be ascended, in my eyes the king feels trapped and in some aspects the game still feels unfinished because of this cycle of death and rebirth. but once you have ascended all spirits and “brought them back home” there’s no acknowledgement of that accomplishment. i hope the story is being developed on, the season of prophecy was what we were all praying the direction of the game would be moving in but now it feels like we’re at a loss. i understand that not everyone enjoys lore but come on why’s it so hard to flesh the game out abit more? 2 years and we still know hardly anything more from when we first joined… sorry I hope this doesn’t come across as harsh I’m just a little frustrated at this point
agreed, @undone harbor
Go at your own pace.
You can read along, share your thoughts, ask questions and add on to theories. Very few parts of the lore is canon.
So most of it is either probable theories or tangents to play around with, though it is mostly fan theories.
I'm currently just looking at old versions of sky and falling in love with them. Isle looked so beautiful back in the days!
well, there are no living ancestors. The elders are in a limbo or separate dimension and the skykids are the only living things in the world.
Understanding the frustration of the story not being completed, though the game is only 2 years old; the devs can always expand on it as they release the seasons.
True that the ancestors are spirits (dead) and us skykids are helping them ascend to orbit (move on to their afterlife), I wonder though how there would ever be new human life.
Just to note: I am taking the little prince as an exception to the lore since he is visiting the world and thus not part of the lore.

Does anyone happen to know where the 'catch the light' quests came from?
I was wondering why there is a red light in shipwreck and could not recall when or how that one came to be.
Red light can also be found in forgotten ark, though that one is there because of the season of Enchantment.
Wasn't there something similar in season of light seekers?
All in all, is there a reason why there are 2 red light orbs in sky?
There is also a golden light orb that appears in daylight prairie (butterfly field), hidden forest (the first gate), golden wasteland (near the broken temple mediation spot) and Vault (ground floor, by the elevator). Which I assume is form the season of lightseekers, correct?
Also, why are there not quests in dawn? Is it because it is basically the tutorial world or is there a different reason why that realm is skipped every time.
the light orbs are from lightseekers and colored are enchantment's. no particular relevance of where the orbs are found around the world i think, but having a red orb in ark, i believe is an introductory quest so ud know wat ur looking for even if the ones after are different in color, but the original place is in shipwreck. prophecy is an isle season
What's the crystal image on the right about?
Oh wrong one sksk i don't have a full screenshot it was a darkstone thing exploding probably
It's from tom zhao's concepts
some of the enchantment orbs were fairly hard to spot too, vault's violet, forest's orange and isle's cyan orb in particular
Here is the full image: https://i.pinimg.com/564x/ee/3f/bf/ee3fbfa21c1bbfbe908ed574a0faa5f0.jpg

It looks like an alternate design of the thrones for the projection room (top floor in the old game concept art).
AGHHH THIS DOES SHOW THAT THEY DRAIN ANIMALS FOR THIS PROCESS!!!

Aw man nooooooo

Sorry to break it to you like that.
unfortunately, that is a very likely theory. 😦
At the least it is not confirmed as canon, yet.
It’s okay...
I just was holding out a hope that this theory was just people reading too much into it. I guess this does though go with the themes of how the ancients abused nature and caused a lot of problems. It’s just so sad
And it looks like it is this very cursed process that made the black water as waste
Now the question is: who was the insane person that found out about or created this abusive process
(I mean, in- universe! I made it sound like I was accusing the game developers or something lol. What crazy spirit came up with this)
Oh man so there is credence to the idea of there being a fatal explosion
You know, the candles kind of make me think of the folktale about Godfather Death. Having a cave full of candles that represent each person’s soul on earth.
The upside is, that looked like the case in the old lore, I was not in the game that time, so cannot confirm that. But there could be an explanation in the new lore.
To answer you question, @dry ivy, about who would start all of this. It is possible the king found out about the dark stone, passed the knowledge to the elders, who then passed it on to the ancestors to make progress in their technology.
Someone on here made a good observation how each elder may have lost part of themselves that was important to them.
Dawn's mask was broken, so he was blind to the truth. Prairie lacked the strength to carry his burdens. Forest could not work with stone to make more diamonds/use tools. Valley lost their competitive edge to work together. Wasteland lost his will to fight. and Vault lost access to the library's history.
I think this was the message I got the idea from, though think there may have been someone else who looked in how the elders were affected
7 vices (sins) theory: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
I'll look at the folktale you mentioned. I think the game draws a lot of influence from folktales.
True, true. I have to say though, it is a rather dramatic backstory plot point to have for the story.
Oh wow!! I never thought a lot into the deeper meanings into each of the elders (other than how and why the Prairie Elder and Archive Elder look so depressed). I gotta remember that for further discussion...
It really is an interesting story! It has a sad ending, but the idea of having the Grim Reaper as one’s godfather is a novel idea. (And the cave of candles thing)
TedEd actually made quite an entertaining animation telling this story, If you want to check it out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ9UtAmjs7Y
I remember this story now. thank you 🙂
It is a good folktale I'll include in my notes.
Ah, yeah, no problem.
Sweet!
hello,lore chat.
Hi

Or the mech theory
It’s 100% possible and no one can question it
Burning dark plants also seems to do that, no point but interest
I think either Wasteland, King or Forest elder, since we found them on GW and Forest, and King’s realm is Eden (probably)
Oh! I never knew that! Interesting...
Though it’s sorta a chicken or the egg situation: did the dark plants come first before the ancients started the diamond making process (which would leave the dark plants as a fuel they could’ve used instead of animals)...or did they come afterward, once the ecosystem was a mess due to the ancients poor choices?
I lean towards them being light fungus grown from pre-existing dark water that absorbs it, and releases it when burnt, but it is interesting to think about
Perhaps there is a memory or mural that shows the spirits interacting with them.
There is a the crying lightminer spirit's memory showing a spirit covered in dark plants, which the spirits does not seem to react on. And same applies to the tired dockworker spirit that did not seem to notice the dark plant in his memory.
Is there anybother spirit menories that had dark plants involved?
@sharp latch Mm, I see...
Though I could see maybe the Archive elder having something to do with this. She seems very forlorn, and to me, it came off to me like she had borne a great burden or shame about something. It’d make sense to me that, as a scholar, she might’ve observed and studied this process and tipped off the King about it, encouraging him to fully develop and encourage this make-energy-from-dead-animals process.
Oh! I don’t remember seeing those mantas in the crying spirit’s memory. Where were they in the cave?
Hmm! I could see that. Maybe light does this as it yearns to be released back into the world. And the ecosystem supports this process, so it found a way to escape the pollution.
Maybe it explains how the spores appear on some of the jars. Light and butterflies are often kept in them: maybe light tends to do that when kept in a container with no way out for too long (and...I hope this doesn’t mean butterflies tend to die in the jars and turn into light or something
)
No, because when we burn the lids butterflies escape
So I guess this means, at least at the time the memories took place, dark plants were accepted as normal
Whether this means that the dark plants are a natural part of the world and the cycle of life...or that the ancients had grown desensitized to a bad blight that happened because of their poor treatment of the earth....I don’t know.
Yeah I thought that, but one could see that maybe the butterflies we save haven’t been in there long enough to turn.
But really I hope that the butterflies are fine inside jars lol. Perhaps the Ancients put them in jars simply to transport them to places they were needed (for what reason, idk)
Seeing as we are encouraged to save mantas we find trapped in dark flowers, then I’m thinking it might’ve been the latter reason
I mean, it seems to show that this is painful and wrong for the mantas to go thru
Forest is the first realm with proper pollution in it, so, on the theory that the spirits in the realms are also in chronological order (ish), then that memory was probably at a point that they didn’t realise the connection between their actions and the pollution around them
I wonder if TGC originally developed the wide* stance level 2 sit as the default stance level 2 sit, and vice versa
mantas?
I meant the dark plants you burn away in the memories.
down mantas with dark plants could be a reference to the dismayed hunter's memory.
Oh I’m sorry, you said SPIRIT. My bad.
Yeah I wondered what that meant in that memory. The two were sitting: the girl and another miner. I was confused on whether that meant she saved one of the miners from the cave in, or she saved one but he died shortly afterward, or what
Ohhhhh interesting!
The 'infected' miner could be having his last moments alive.
The lightminer was shown as the last ancestor left of the cave in.
I am not sure if she ever escaped or perished in that cave. :/
Prolly perished
Yo, does this mean they based these designs from a pot one of the devs owned?
Or heck maybe someone made a 3D model of their design. Coooool
Oh gosh I never thought that she didn’t escape!!!
Aww that makes that memory even more depressing.
Which perhaps this means that when a Skid learns to cry from this memory, they aren’t imitating: they’re actually crying from seeing all of this
I think, in my head canon, this is the first time a Skid gets acquainted with the concept of grief
Heh, looks like lanterns run on batteries of diamond stones. Neat.
Maybe so!
personally, I think skykid are so naive, they are imitate a lot of things.
That said, they mugh not understand the context of the emotes they are imitating.
Ex. fainting spirit is not just fainting, and even if the light miner is mourning, the skykid interpreted as crying (and even translated it into throwing a tantrum when looking at the higher level emote).
Sure it is partly based on game mechanics to give player ways to express themselves, though some emotes do not match some spirits exactly, as the skykid is inocently imitating them.
Oh, right! I see Skids as very innocent and imitate to learn empathy like little kids do
they might not know the deeper context for all the emoting they learn
And yeah the crying emote is a bit sillier and more lighthearted (like, dramatic theatre crying) then actual crying
But again, for some reason I like my idea of a skid learning, even if just a glimmer, of what real grief is. Goes with the theme of growing up and maturing in the different levels of the game (though, maturing in the sense of becoming an emotionally mature being, not losing one’s innocence 🙂)
And gosh the higher level of that emote is a tantrum? How cuuuute
I have been so intrigued by the lightminer's emote, kind of having a hunch of the darker side, so I'm glad to see you all having this conversation.
Aw. I’m glad you’re enjoying our random discussion about crying, haha
I like how the game explores darker concepts, but does so in a poignant and heartfelt way. And by darker, this means the explore emotional darkness (abuse of ecosystems, grief, etc.) in a very gentle way. They don’t focus on too sordid stuff., and aren’t heavy handedly grim with it (coughBatmancough)
You know, it kinda makes me think of the lesson in Inside Out. Crying and sadness aren’t bad!! They are important to feel!! And they help us find comfort from others on dark times 🙂
been seeing some arts bout the elder twins in valley, Like one of them lost their arm. What's the reason behind it? Was it because of a krill? Also is that a part of their story?
injury by playing cricket/hockey/gladiatoring
Since there is no canon lore, we don’t know, although I know some people will have good theories
aww I see. Thanks! And yeah, It'll be great to read some theories bout it
where are my 195 hearts
Also, there’s a theory of Valley elders used to be one but split somehow
Doot
Looks like the cosmic manta elder has been there from the start. (I like to call that a cosmic whale because of the sound, don't know if anyone else thought the same)
Went to eden for the first time in a long time and just realized that this is the king symbol yet again
yup, that got changed a bit in an update.
It also vaguely looks like a cape going up to a castle in the sky.
Vault levels after you go past them look like this
Wait, Really??? They lost at arm?
I’d love to see that concept art you’re talking about!
OH HECC. That looks like the remains of a GIANT Diamond!! I never knew that! What if it used to be a humongous diamond that floated up there with the castle on top of it. Maybe THAT is what exploded
Sooo memory holocrons are just kinda floating into the nether, huh
Okay, so the Skids holding candles rang bells in the back of my brain for a while. I remembered this art from the Journey art book I have
(Excuse the cruddy quality, I’ve got bad lighting...I’ll take a better pic later on if people want a clearer picture for reference)
Remembering some of the concept art from a Journey, I can see a lot of the things they didn’t use for that game get carried over to Sky!
Not sure if it is worth bringing up, though this confirms a theory I was working on in my notes about the game drawing inspiration from real life cultures.
The pot used in the reference concept, is a vessel from China. I just cam across this site that had a bit of info about it and wanted to share it. I'll give more context in a few minutes, though in the mean times here is link if anyone else want to track this idea.
https://www.worldhistory.org/image/5881/gui-vessel-from-ancient-china/
So it’s bronze! And it says that Elaborate bronze vessels were made for ritual and ceremonial use, often to make offerings to ancestors
So interesting!!! Thanks for sharing!!! I love moments like this when you find a hidden secret in the lore...and what might’ve inspired to devs. The creation process with stories and games are so intriguing to me
Tangential segue, but I wonder how that connects to the prophecy cave paintings, since the final optional drawings u can light up after completing all trials have sth to do with someone seemingly exploding at the top / above eden owo
I mean, if there's any connection at all...
i always interpreted the person at the top to be glowing as opposed to exploding… it could still be connected tho but in a more “peaceful and whole” way
Lol yes I mean I've always thought of it as glowing too, but now that someone's pointed out that the remains of the sky castle u fly past otw to orbit look kinda like remains of a giant diamond, so I now thought maybe explosion lol
Or maybe not, since explosion might not have created debris that neat, idk
Sometimes I wonder if the ppl in charge of building lore at tgc is just adding random stuff to mess w us, and they don't mean anything at all lol
they probably do tbh
While I'm here, I wanna ask for opinions from yall too about vault elder, whether yall have any ideas why they have that scar on their chin.
I have personal interest in this, since I have a pet theory about their possible involvement in the apparent archive heist (fight injury? Hostage situation?)
Observations so far on the game's randomly generated names: (i am accepting new names anytime! i want as many as possible for my analysis)
-randomly generated names can be 4-8 letters long
-4 letter names always seem to start with a vowel
-most names seem to alternate between vowels/consonants each letter
I’m not sure what this is but it looks so cool
i love how i started the trend of sharing/gushing over concept art in here lol
Oh woah really??? I haven’t even tried Trials yet—I’ll have to take a look when I finally screw up the courage to try it
Yeah I mean they do look rather too nice and neat...it was just a thought (it’s just weird that it’s diamond shaped). It’s amazing how it looks like the Prince’s face too lol
if you look closely at the ceiling of the cave paintings you can see (assumedly) which realm each of the prophets came from! prairie, forest, valley, and wasteland
i dont have the painting on hand but i believe water prophet was from forest/prairie and fire was from wasteland
Okay, first of all, they have a scar on their chin? I thought it was underneath their eye.
Secondly, there was an archive heist??
The under eye scar makes me think of a tear stain tho. I’ve said this a million times on here, but I think the archive elder has felt great pain or shame about something from the past. I think that mark is a hint of this sorrow.
Oooh!
The prophets are the guys from the Forgotten Ark, right?
I love how the generated names seem so...ancient and beautiful in its simplicity. Seeing how the Elders “names” come form Hebrew names, maybe they are some pastiche of Hebrew words. They sound kinda...middle east-y to me
I love how I’m seeing lots of inspiration from real life ancient civilizations
I’m gonna butcher this, but are those towers Asian? Or Indian...?
Really the green hills and clouds in this piece of art make me think of those places in Asia. You know, the place with the really tall rock formations that stand mysteriously within deep mists?
i believe the 3 pics on the right are irl photographs used for reference
Right, right! I was just curious on where those real life ancient ruins were from. They look kinda Asian or Indian to me.
You know, what is making the castle float? Was it built on a pre-existing floating island (as those found in Sanctuary Islands, etc.), or was it made to float via power diamonds?
And I guess the King really wanted to show off his status or something
Or perhaps it served more of a religious purpose, being the holy place before the entrance to Eden. Perhaps the King stood as a ruler and as a high priest for his people?
One person on here theorized that he was a sort of psychopomp, which is another cool idea
hullo!! just wondering if anyone has any good resources for starting to learn about lore
ok so i went to cave of prophecy for my candle run and according to the painting:
the prophet of earth is from Prairie,
the prophet of water is from Forest,
the prophet of air is from Valley,
and the prophet of fire is from Wasteland
OR, alternatively, the magic in the statues is from said places. it's kind of hard to tell when it just uses a coloured star
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Her ya go bud 🙂
sorry this is quite long + eden spoilers
thank you :)
I doubt
Hmm
Interesting
Child = ancestor, manta, and winged light
(this is concept art and was probably scrapped but)
Wha-
This has a very diff vibe from the final designs
It’s like
Showing different Pokémon evolution paths lol
...elders sure looks kinda alien in the early dev days
Aw different hair colors!
It feels like Sky but still has this alien vibe lol. They look more like alien elves
Wait what are the valley elders? I havent been catching up on lore
also whoa 55 second cooldown, what did yall do?
Woah war paint
I presume they’re early mask designs
Early elders
KING IS GUNDAM AND PRINCE IS A PILOT OF THE GUNDAM
M E C H S U I T
the two elders that show up in the cutscene in the temple at the end of valley
black white and gray, big white paddles
question so I can develop my skid more, do maskless sky kids ever open eyes?
in the switch trailer they seemed to "blink" while wearing their mask. And looking closely at their faces you can they have something there
Maybe they’re not skids(in the trailer)

People in the trailer are prolly ancestors (spirits) but I think skykid eyes work the same but ULTRA BRIGHT.
HMMM I see
This is Vault lore and no one can break it
Ackshually... both!
So both of us r right! Still doesn't answer that the chin scar is about tho... :(
I've nvr heard anyone discuss it too...
P.S. This is fanart but only cuz I couldn't find a good frontal shot of vault elder n I'm feeling lazy to go get an in game screenshot lolol sorry not sorry
But for a sec there I was fr starting to secondguess my memories
Yes ARCHIVE HEIST
I'll link to u to the discussion I had w someone here the other day
(gosh discord is a heccin mess)
(also barely a discussion since no one picked up the topic and it was just me and like 1 other person ಥωಥ)
Thanks Worm, I’m stealing all of these
Chesca
May I dm you the entire archive of concept art that I have
Yes please
Hello
||Could Mount Eden be the body of the King? Or is it the abandoned King Gundam?||
That would be cool
It’s a children’s story no one knows
Even I don’t understand the purpose of the rose
Maybe the fact that it’s a rose from a point of view
Like u wouldn’t date a rose

Yes As i was saying why the honk would u date a rose
I mean yeah after every quest we get something said from da rose
Anyways I’m going to bed it’s 2 am for me hehe

Dumb new theory, the Megabird is the moon
