Well, the realms were already starting to be poisoned by the looks of things. I’ve got this theory that, when creatures of light are used as a source of energy, they leave behind a byproduct of whatever physical mass they might’ve had. Which.. with no light left in it, would be a toxic sludge. And I feel like that’s what tainted the waters- now the lakes in the Wasteland look like tar (which the wasteland used to be called the Shores of Manna, so it couldn’t have been that terrible the whole time) and now the rain in the Forest is acidic and saps light

Which. I have a lot of little theories about the creatures of light ^^ They’re sweet, I like them a lot

I also think if there is lots of light, it keeps darkness away, but if it gets chipped away, say, by being smashed in a compressor as a fuel source, its easier for darkness to come in. Thus letting krill find sky kingdom and why it thrived for awhile before darkness found them again.

I feel like the creatures of light slowly decay over time, the smaller ones faster the larger ones. For example, the butterflies might only stick around for a few days at most whereas the elder manta might’ve been around since at least when the spirits were alive.
They aren’t “dying” per say when they fizzle out slowly, it’s just the energy of existing gets spent up and they return to the Megabird.
However, if something unnatural were to cause their death, they’d be snuffed out, and much more literally would die

Which would lead to that light not getting recycled, in other words more darkness

We see Ayi-iiuhhhh Prairie strait up create a butterfly with some smushing power.

Mhmm X) I’d like to think it’s not creating so much as just reshaping. Like I always imagined that when the butterflies go into the pots, they go back to being just plain old light. Much less crowded in there if you don’t have to worry about wings and all that

I have a cool theory purely for the sake of my fanseason, that different types of light create different creatures. Candle light, fierce firelight, sunbeam, reflected off water, tinted with color ect.

In my dealie fan stuff not real I use the idea of reflected eclipse light as a source for extinct light dragons. Something rare and unusual.

It might also be why Eden doesn't have any darkness plants

It's barren of light

Some darkness plants might also be where light fragments once were since they can be seen consuming one in Slumbering Shipwright's (yawn spirit) memories

So this means, the wax orbs that we get from burning darkness plants aren't produced by them

But rather, it's the light orbs that they consumed from the light creatures

Ok, in the concepts for lightseekers they were collecting lights looking like small balls. The balls look very similar to the ones that tge spirits had in light awaits and the one we have in our chest, even in one of the pictures the lightseeker is collecting the light from the grave.
Theory: lightseekers were people appointed to collect dead people's spirits in the lights. So that elders can ascend them

The whole area of Underground Caverns/Pineswood was introduced during Season of Belonging for the one spirit and nothing has been done with that particular “doorway” since then. We’ve been wondering what that is for a while, and some (including myself) were theorizing it was something for a future season. We’ll just have to wait and see though

We have a theory that the dark water may be the origin of how they came to be though.

That reminds me of my theory that one of the scouts (I thought March) would represent Forest Elder or the realm or something but a lot of things/people denied it which made me not share it here at all

So even though we are hypothesised to be a mix and all. But we really do resemble spirits in size and shape
