Spirit manta's call is kinda understandable, Vault has a more nostalgic vibe and we can assume that the spirit mantas are dead mantas, it could be them mourning in their afterlife

As for the mantas in orbit, i can only Imagine it's some sort of "heaven". Our skid is dead and there's no way the mantas have survived. But when we reach the orbit, we see our skid normally and not in a spirit form. I think that the spirit mantas are the way they are bc they are haunting Vault, whereas the orbit mantas are in "heaven"

i was thinking the gold-painted stones were more of those things you see in hall of fames, the blue stones for spirits are to signify that they are dead (since blue can mean death in sky)
