I feel like the whole cycle of death and rebirth in sky is wrong, and that the story is unfinished. Is there a chance that we'll ever be able to save eden or something along those lines one day?

we don't know i don't think the story is 'unfinished', it is rather the story we have right now has been made very vague so that we have the freedom of making our own theories without the worry of them being wrong.

that is not to say that there is no story however - it will be revealed in its own time as tgc's narrative team sees fit.

I think Rebirth truly forms an important aspect of the game lore rather than it being just a game mechanic. A lot of the cultures and religions which it takes inspiration from believe in the idea of rebirth and cycles of death and life. The reason i think it isn't just a mechanic is because we see a voice telling us we are about to be reborn which i think is Megan. Also the light creatures seem to follow a similar pattern of life cycle to us and seem to be reborn after they get to orbit. We see lines of light reaching towards the door of light in orbit which could be the life force of the creatures which came to orbit to die.

oh i think i went on a tangent there oops. but it is possible that we can save eden. it is also possible that we can't. maybe we're not meant to save it either. it's not our goal to save the kingdom or return it to its original state, but rather to send the spirits, elders and those dead skids to orbit

i'd have to go with what blu said - rebirth could be an important part of the lore. there are various ideas of rebirth and its reasons - like atonement of sins of previous lives, chances of living a life that was not truly lived, etc. as for sky's reasons for rebirth, we can only speculate, but current ideas of rebirth around us can serve as basis for thought

I too think that the cycle of death and rebirth is integral to the lore of sky as we know it, but that’s not to say that something couldn’t change it at some point in the future (even if I think it would be highly unlikely) - sky: cotl is still only the ‘first chapter’ after all

I get that completely, but I guess I'm always used to seeing stories where they try to break free of a constant cycle of death and rebirth, or just cycles in general. If i remember correctly, in hinduism they try to live good and pure lives so they can break free of the cycle of rebirth and join their gods in heaven. I feel like that could be a similar situation here, but i could just be complaining lol. Something just tells me that our skykid should be doing more than collecting lights, making friends, going to eden, dying and repeating the process

Maybe they got corrupt, but in arachnids (like crabs) the legs are part of the exoskeleton. Meaning they (crabs) change that shell and legs in the shell is empty. While bones are mostly solid with little empty space

I had a thought...
Looking at Journey, there was a cutscene before the final area where you can see a tapestry showing your travel up the ending.
I know there is one in SKy for the ELders, but not for the sky kids.
In the dark room, I noticed teh background has an image. Look through the blue light and you see silouhettes.
It looks a bit similar to how Journey's tapestry but adapted to be more like Sky's and without the characters.

I hope this gets expanded upon int he future nad I have not seen any info on it.

This is not much a lore but am I think the sky kids capes are not physical entity's like all the other creatures and sky kids themselves. I think they are made of pure light/light waves and not physical items. When your flying and you look down at your shadow below you have no cape it's just your child as well if you go fully thought ||Eden|| with a friend while your child is just a little light bean along with your friends. On your screen only you will have a cape while your friends will be cape less. Also that's how the capes are so easy to change between shapes and sizes.

This came to mind from rewatching the light catcher's scene, but did light catching become a form of sport?

We know that the Valley's gimmick are the two races they have, and the goal is to gather as many light fragments before we get to the bottom.

Where did the light come from? The Prarie. The Spirits stored light in jars and placed them in boats, making them cargo for other areas.

If the lights were used for sport, they'd need a supply source. Enter boats from the Prarie.

The spirits we catch during the races were likely competitors (can't remember which ones they were atm), we have a spectator spirit at the end of the races and we have the proud victor spirit at the cliff overseeing the ice rink.

The two spirits at the citadel imply that the area was thriving, as a citadel is defined as a little city. But it is also the fortified core of a town or city, the core being either a castle or fortress.

The stands are huge, so maybe every spirit once lived here, but then eventually fled when everything went downhill.

Come to think of it, I think they are more like Storage diamonds, you put a memory/purpose into the diamond, and when light is added, this function is fullfilled

like you program them like a computer, and then when they are given the input they need, they output the function

so theres either a Darkness orbit, creatures of darkness are not alive, or they are corrupted forms of pure things that we do see in orbit

Maybe Dark Orbit works a bit differently than Light Orbit. Light Orbit had everything grouped up. Dark Orbit may allow everything to be more spread out.

We may also have been to Dark Orbit - who's to say that's not where the golden (now white) child awaits us?

Oh I just had a thought. It's probably a crack thought because I'm doing multiple things at things and haven't eaten dinner yet but-

The light child we see after Eden. What if that was another child, like us? But something happened that got them in the reverse place. Like they got to orbit but couldn't be reborn for some reason. Which would leave stuck at where we find them after losing our life in Eden.

Again, probably not the most sound idea, but my mind thought of the idea

I just had a random thought about why we are reborn in game, a lot of moths don't necessarily collect all of the spirits ok their first run, so they would have to be rebornnto ascend all the spirits. Even after the main ones are done we have to do the season spirit and so we are reborn.

Hey, I am very new to this channel so I don't exactly have any new theories to add on,
But God, I cannot get over the whole idea of rebirth and all in Sky.
Especially when you think about the fact that there are constantly new people joining and finding spirits and reaching orbit and what not.
And yes, that's the point- it's a multiplayer game.
But it does tie into the idea of the game in such a weird way when you think about it. Are these spirits/elders aware that they will never be completely saved, because new children will still be trying to save them? Is there a hope for a near distant future when all sky children have helped restore the world? Or will they just believe in the endless cycle of new children and seasons and adventures?
Probably a very common thought, but I just think it's interesting. Everything you CAN'T save but still try to.
Anyways.
I was just thinking about that and will see myself out ✌️
