The office is not considered canon because it’s an Easter egg so you can’t really use it to determine height, things in the sky world are completely another scale

But I believe there was talking of heights of skykids based on the space station! If you’re interested in that theory you could search for it

@crimson grove during one of the live streams, the devs made the curiously specific comment that the office's scaling is important, that we should be well aware of our skykids' heights relative to the place, which implies that while the contents of office and the location itself is non-canon, the scaling of the place relative to the skykids itself is canon.
As for the space station, Magikarp and I used the Leonardo module on it to try getting skykid heights, but it yielded heights ranging from 5'9 to 9'10, which is horrifyingly tall itself, but also conflicts against the devs saying repeatedly that the game should make you feel small, goes against the scaling of the office, and the ISS was never mentioned or implied to have canon scaling, not to mention the station is a very rough model with much less care put into the sizing compared to the well-proportioned office that stays self-consistent.

@sly kestrel maybe it took me a while, i visited the bird tunnel in eden, apparently they are just fly into and disappear, so we cannot be sure why are they doing that
And the tunnel has a closed end inside

that's because the inside of the pipe is not visible from the normal play area, so the devs wouldn't need to bother adding more details if they are (supposed to be) impossible to be seen
The birds are implied to be going further through the pipe to some other location, but it's just left unfinished to avoid wasting time

That hinting could be true, but it also could be just comparing the irl scale of a child (seen in the office) to the scale in game (where things are elder-sized and we feel small). For all we know the office isn’t canon and everyone is allowed to have their own perceptions and theories that include the office and its contents or not. As I said I do like your theory but it’s your perception to include it as canon in your personal theory

When you collect winged light the child stays there, they just don’t have any more winged light to give you. By going through eden you release light into the world, recharging the winged light kids

Like, as the kingdoms kept being made and the population grew, the stars kept disappearing

But like, this was with some intent that when these people died, they would become one with the stars again

Sky kids have mittenlike hands, with one thumb and a blob where fingers should be.
I assumed this was just a graphics thing at first, but spirits have well-defined, five-fingered hands.

Well something interesting to note- the water is way too shallow for a boat that size to sail there, so the ocean nearby was probably significantly higher. We travel through pipes to get to there, one of them is pretty high up on the wall. The other one seems like a drainage pipe into the lower graveyard area. Idk if the damage was from the initial wreckage or from time.

Something to keep in mind- idk how much of the world was built with the idea of what happened in mind, was stuff placed there cuz it made a good level or was it placed there to tell a story

It’s in the concepts Logan sent a bit ago- but it shows that the spirits and elders are naturally not able to fly, so they made a way to get from place to place

Maybe the unfortunate occupants of that boat showed up with their cargo of bells just in time to witness the tame krill turn savage and the peaceful mountain palace explode into reality-warping chunks.

Maybe the boat was trying to escape when golden wasteland turned into a wasteland, and the krill that now circles the boat was the one who cut in into two pieces

I think the ship was simply a shipment of materials, headed for the Wasteland.

Krill seem to have been there a long time, as Waste,and is always portrayed as hostile,

Or it could have simply just seen the light of the goods they were shipping and attacked

I think it's Journey's stone creatures that gave me the idea of krill being war animals– the stories have a lot of similarities.
Plus there's the theme of technology and development leading to the downfall of the ancestors

If you look at very old screenshots you’ll see that sky kids didn’t have a light orb heart thing, it was just that symbol

Just some thought, forgive me if somebody has said something similar or it’s been disproven somehow or it’s rlly obvious lol

From the text in the beginning along with everything else, this is my thought.
The elders, sky children, spirits etc. lived together in harmony and peace. They were widely known across the galaxy possibly.
The darkness, an evil force from the void of space or another world, etc. started invading their home to feast on their light, causing them to flee/fall to the clouds and try rebuilding what they had, possibly trying to return to their former home. They built technology for this, made the diamonds and maybe even started trying to go back.
Some of the elders may have warned them against these things, hence the “if only they had listened”

The spirits, in the middle of all this, were living their lives, and I believe they could have been stuck like a lot of ghosts tend to be because of some sort of emotional connection to the place. By going through and reliving the memories with them, you set them free to go be with the elders and/or go back to the Light (the cycle of reincarnation)

When.. whatever happened happened, all the beings perished. The elders and a few ancestors remained spirits because of emotional reasons and to guide others. The rest went into the Light to be reborn, and they are us.

On the wasteland boat, I always thought it looked like a sunken wreck, so goes along with the sea receding / ground rising / flying boat (sank from the air) theory.

To go along with that, the point it is split in contains a lot of the constructed diamond pots, which may have attracted a krill attack from below sinking the (air) ship when the attacked the light contained within the containers (especially considering where one of the starkid is positioned on top of those pots).

Going on at the wasteland line: if krills are attacking sky kids for our light, why don’t they consume the scattered wings after they attacked us and in the first broken temple, where the first krill is, the winged light kid is on the krill’s way, the krill see it and doesn’t attacking nor “eating” it

@raven gale krill don’t seek out or attack/consume the winged light stars due to one of two broad reasons:

1. The WL stars are very much a game mechanic more than anything, only there for providing you WL for gameplay’s sake, which would be interrupted if the Krill attacked them. Plus, if the krill were to react to the stars, it’d mean the stars have a more real connection to the canon world and story, which TGC likely wants to avoid since it’d cause weird holes and logic issues in the story, like whether or not the stars we bring to eden actually end up delivered or if they get stuck in a cycle along with us
2. The Krill don’t react to WL lying on the ground that’s been knocked out of a skykid, meaning they either don’t care about getting WL at all (maybe even are trying to stop the light rather than to absorb it, which makes sense as consuming light would likely damage/change them), or that this too is a product of game mechanics overruling lore, as you wouldn’t want the Krill to just snatch up your WL while you try to collect it back (plus it’d look weird as hell trying to collect them)

I read some of the lore and looked through all the concept art. this game is so beautiful I was in forest today and it got me thinking... it is interesting that crabs start showing up in forest. Power diamonds are often embedded into rock. What if a rock had a fossil hidden inside it and the diamond’s energy reactivated it? What if krills were created in roughly the same manner? Maybe an antagonist found million year old fossils and revived them into murderous ghosts. That’s why they have the ability to phase through walls and damage sky kids.

Well, it’s been established that the darkness and light are a natural part of the world, nothing the ancesters did, so I would guess the krill came first. I also think the pipes were more a response to the improvement for technology, and those generated darkness which attracted the krill

On new lore stories, we could also speculate on the constellation stones seen in prairie, as some still activate secrets (though that seems more an oversight of removal of previous functionality) but that hasn't stopped me from speculating before!

though admittedly it could use some updates but i'll just edit it a bit

(some context) judging from the shields, there's two different sides. One with the diamond and one with the "sun" shield (we also see that this symbol maybe representative of elders, as it is present on each of the elder hair icon.)

so, we can assume one side was trying to get into the vault. If we look at the new area, some one clearly had broken in trying to get what whatever lies inside. Also, from the Belonging Live stream, it was mentioned that area is like, the hidden, off limits knowledge. So, perhaps it was the target for the attacking side.

So if we take into account 1) Vault Elder seems a bit shaken about some thing and appears so have damage on their face/mask 2) Wasteland Elder appears frustrated, having a mid-life crisis if you will. As if he's failed at something. and 3) Forest elder, i have less of a connection with this one but she does appear frustrated and bothered by something.

So maybe we could connect this is some thing that happened leading up to whatever, happened in eden?

or not bc i guess some points are good for more speculation/theory crafting

So the diamond symbol connects to wasteland’s side in many ways, first of all, the first krill area seems to be almost identical to the forest temple, indicating they used the same architecture. And the masks on the wasteland spirits have diamond symbols, just like the forehead plate on teth. Also, the diamond symbol is seen on 2 castles in wasteland that look like the one on the shields. Diamond shaped symbols were said to represent use of technology and to be an artificial symbol unlike the flowing smooth feel of creatures and nature. I got that from the concept arts but anyways, forest is known for their use of industry and their production of the power diamonds. Now regarding the sun symbol, there is a building in eden that has a sun shield inside and 2 dual swords, the same ones used in the battlefield. The sun symbol is also seen in a lot of different places. I assumed it was eden because it had the shield there AND in the isle murals the sun shield represented eden. The cutscene in the beginning of the game also shows the sun symbol representing eden.

Now, regarding to the war in general
On the lookout spirits cutscene, he freaks out looking below him and blows his horn, indicating he was warning something of a threat, there are also battle barricades around that castle. Also in the graveyard, there are no signs of any battle or weapons, it is simply a graveyard of bodies. In the battlefield, there are no signs of any creatures of any kind, so it’s kinda safe to assume the spirits weren’t fighting creatures. The battle barricades used are for ground war, wouldn’t do much to fight krills, but back to the topic
The spirits shields are seen to be pierced by spears and weapons, now why would they pierce their own shields if they were fighting another threat?? This is another reason why they weren’t fighting creatures. I can’t really make a confirmed story on what happened, I can only look at evidence and details around the environment to make up my own story. Since tgc doesn’t make the story of this game clear, it seems like the only thing we can do is take the evidence we have right now, and make our own story or theory

Currently I gave up on this whole war theory because the weapons are way way way way wayyyyy too big to be used by spirits, but like I said

in real life, people use gigantic weapons that they can not wield on their own right? Such as tanks, missiles... etc.

I'm not sure if there's specific lore on it, but I theorize it's that the Prairie elder and other Prairie-dwellers sealed them in the pots to protect them from the darkness that began spreading across Prairie

seems that the butterflies are an energy source so the pots were used to transport them as well
