Leave me and my outdated memery alone
Well that's disappointing but relief though. I really have to recover from part 1 before going in for part 2
I heard part 2 is when things get ultra depressing
If part 1 is already crazy imagine part 2 holy
We are on tumblr actually. You might be familiar with a couple of the people there who actively post resh stuff like Black-suns-rim, Coatl-cuddles, and mistyplace-ghost for example.
i go by silvkatt and I made the resh spinning microwave post which i dont know why it got a lot of notes 😭 😭 😭 😭
So we're currently playing/viewing…which part?
I'm confused
Part 1
HAHA KNEW IT wait lemme show you something i made that got like 1k notes
Oof. I thought the Dusk Ember was part 2? The one that's premiering now?
The dusk ember are the part one which is premiering rn
Thank you for the clarification!
adoption, like ain't no way a kid fell from sky and nobody cared
So they just went superman on us huh
If that's what you envious then yes, it's just an interpretation and hasn't been stated canon.
im failing to make connection between superman and skids, both have whole different origin backstory
Superman fell from the sky and was adopted, ergo Resh had a similar situation. People were talking abt Resh's birth origin earlier. :P
baldness is a neutral hairstyle, only other reason a we'd see same hairstyle re-use stew can't be reused since we only see them in the animation and reusing hairstyle on a mc isn't very sense making
also project aviary was a thing (and stew) shortly after the first glances on duskie
a crossover i didn't know i needed /j
I didn't have the patience to try. Has anyone tried waiting in line for the light healing during seasonal quest?
superman was sent to space by his parents when their planet was about to be destroyed and happened to land on earth
skids are born from megabird who sends them down from orbit on purpose, not chance
it does not work, the npc completely ignore you
they stand where they would normally stand in line, they dont acknowledge you standing there at all
if you go with sacrifice version then
also dont use shared spaces on the hospital windows, those are traps leading nowhere
Dont worry gang
It was a meaningless joke
tbh still pretty atrocious to be two grown people tall
Man i wish though….
DRIVING IN MY CAR
Question just for funsies:
When shall we have a season of Carnival?
A season where we get a theme park. Rollercoasters, Mary-go-rounds, Ferris wheels, and more rides for use to enjoy.
The quests could be restoring these old rides.
Ancestor spirits can be attendants, performers or "carnies" (carnival staff)
- a strongman/strongwoman spirit
- clown spirit with balloons
- popcorn seller
- horse wrangler
These spirits can be connected to attractions in addition to the bigger rides for skykids to enjoy as mini games.
namely a dumbbell ringing timing game, juggling tapping game, popcorn catching with buckets game, and horse riding "simon says" pose game respectively.
Oh what a fun idea! I would love a carnival of some kind, perhaps a guide who originated from Valley and wanted another realm or even Aviary to have some fun and excitement.
(Adapted this as feedback to TGC. Here is hoping it would be seen)
I really question and coincidently, admire how the written language in Sky is structured the way it is (mainly the logogram system used in Vault items). The main one seen in murals is depicted with hieroglyphs and is identical to pictograms originating from the Bronze Age, making it ancient in the scheme of things (also worth noting that they have a similar mannerism to Hebrew letters which where once used for Elder names and a potential generalized language in concept development before getting retconned). In contrast, the one used in Vault articles (usually head accessories) are more nuanced and taken inspiration from the game, Journey. Journey’s in-game civilization uses “symbols“ as a written language. Both instances in Sky are structured contextually in different text formats: murals use horizontal script (left to right, right to left) while Vault uses vertical script (top to bottom) but hypothetically speaking are one in the same.
Why do I say that you might ask—because culturally speaking the world of Sky is one de facto kingdom and languages can evolve and modify over time. Vault is a realm of immense knowledge and technologic advancement. It’s the home of devices such as the memory lanterns (the prop from Wise Grandparent and the Remembrance Ultimate prop) and the storage containers containing memory cubes (seen in the Archive Ruins). With that said, the glyphs on the Vault Elder’s helmet could be abbreviation or adaptation of the script used in the murals. However even with little information we have, we do not know if it’s a conlag (constructed language), a form of ciphers, or something else entirely.

(feel free to ignore, just infodumping for fun)
yes, it would make sense for them to be one and the same, pictograms shift into ideograms to logograms into morphemes all the time!!! a good example would be the sumerian alphabet
Mhm!! Nice seeing you again Piano
Thank Eden for tissues. No wonder why are we told that we´re seeing an orphan ... and this is Tender Toymaker that is their parental figure, as it seems. 😭😭
It´s unknown if the orphan got abandoned or TT died, but given how they´re handling all stuff for themselves, I reckon it´s the latter, which is just ... </3
it seems that homeless is unfortunately very widespread due to class disparity in this civilization, and those on the street are more likely to get sick than others (like our tiny manatee and tender toymaker)
Not just the small manatee, but there was also one larger one that was ill. 👀
And honestly, given our selection, I reckon that the bearded guy that upturned one of the smaller turret-devices was the Recluse. Not Isle Elder as initially thought.
YOU ARE SO BASED
But yeah the seasonal area is a shanty town/refugee camp. The start of chapter one refers to it as the last city.
is that why the city has such big enforcement presence? 🤔
Could absolutely be.
Might be the case
also this disease is not airborne or infectious or anything because they are openly touching the infected
and the infected aren’t being socially isolated for it, or maybe they don’t know much about it?
Just asking, is the disease mentioned anywhere else in game?
its also interesting to note that we have seen the murals mostly at the v beginning of the game like isle and prairie and in abandoned places like the ark whereas the vault is the closest to eden and where we are seeing a more sophisticated writing system
sorry lol im jumping from one thing to another
Most definitely yeah. GW is militarism in design. (was gonna say more but for the life of me my brain is not clicking for Two Embers worldbuilding 😭 )
also something i really loved playing through the seasonal area, you can see mothers taking their children’s hand and walking with them, couples walking hand in hand, people crowding together to talk and laugh, and it made my anthropologist heart very happy
they’re also using the space, like the children sitting on stairs 🥹 makes it all very human
It might be because vault, eden and the possibly the ark was still active since Golden Wasteland was named the "the last city" and vault + eden was still standing along with GW. There's still unknown territory about what happened to the other realms that made GW the last city, but my theory is either the people succumbed to the disease or there was darkness covering the other parts of the kingdom.
Also we might see the Ark actually be somewhat crucial to the story again like the concept art since the enchantment guide was seen in an oob, however it could also just be a bug. I think it would be interesting to see the ark again
not last city but golden valley, wasteland and valley were once one realm (revealed in facebook post)
we can see someone who looks a bit like enchantment guide in one of trailers
spirits in two embers part 1 trailer - #lore-discussion-spoilers message #lore-discussion-spoilers message #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Murals in Sky are spread around every inch of the game like all over Hell and half of Georgia (ignore my very, very weird idiom). Originally I was gonna talk about them in my earlier message but the main scoop of that was about the logograms/pictographs. But I'm glad you pointed that out! Just like the progression of Sky (elders/realms represents both a day cycle and the age cycle) the written language also follows suit.
Murals in Sky are like cave paintings. They are the first known instances of pictorial communication. People theorized it was used to envision a way of doing things. For Sky however I like to think the ancestors (both spirits and elders) used murals as a form of communication to educate and direct others.
Funny way of saying it, murals = traffic signs lol
mmm not really traffic signs but we can see pathmarkers with runes on them both in game and in trailers (mostly dawn part of trailers as that one includes riding a boat and manatee caravan)
I'm trying to find a better res image of the old concept art featuring the ark since I'm curious if it's going to show up again and if it is, what will they use it for
I found a quote from wiki during Seven Days of Sky
🎨 "For a while Dusk was not touched, but then we revisited the level after coming up with the ancestor stories — this was going to be a place where Sky's ancestors built a giant ark to survive the apocalypse."
murals are also the universal way of communication because you dont have to know the lanuage to decipher it, im not sure if any of you here heard about the voyager golden record, it is a disc that was sent deep in space in an attempt to contact any alien civilization, it does not contain only text in many languages but also radio recordings, photos and most importantly - it has PICTURES on it showing how to decipher the information on the disc along with pictogram of our solar system position in milky way and radio waves our solar system radiates, it would be hard for potential alien civilization try to decipher just written instructions in language they dont know and maybe dont even have concept of written words
This musician literally looks like Anxious Angler to me.
its not really murals perse but it is something closest to what we have in real life in compare to sky murals legacy to next generation/species (cave paintings are close too, hieroglyphs not really)
i cant really put in right words what i am trying to say but i hope someone here understands
One of my favorite characters is based on the Voyager Golden Record it's s good I'm glad you brought it up
Anxious Angler being a part-time musician?
Although, I do notice they have a different mask. It's either their mask before it broke or it's an npc that looks identical to them
We do have a daily quest involving playing music with the Abyss Crew and Angler is one of them. :)
Maybe they did pass away from the disease but we never knew when that was, but if you look at the differences with Stewie's hair, it seems quite some time has passed so maybe somewhere around there TT passed away when they succumbed to the disease, you can also tell Stewie was close to the TT as they always keep that butterfly toy close to them and when the baby manatee took it away, they got worried and scared as it was the last thing that was gifted to them and to always remember them
I know that the musician plays a violin instead of a flute, but well, it isn´t unfathomable to me if they would know more than 1 instrument, especially with Duets´ involvement. :)
Exactly! Even if for now we don´t know if that´s future Hopeful Steward, thus my moniker of "orphan".
Still agreeing nonetheless, which is still very much heartbreaking for us, given how in current quest, we help TT ourselves.
Even though given the fact that they´re an actual spirit, this does imply that the Vault Elder´s Lantern is so powerful that it can literally summon lost spirits from the unity of Megabird itself. 👀
Imagine that heartwarming reunion if the orphan is Stewie and TT is an actual spirit now ...
😭
No stop im gonna cry if that happens 😭
Oh same as well and especially if we reunite them! 🥹
Another connection given this conclusion is that we actually saw that event happen already: it´s the 4th Shard Memory with Krills! 👀
Even if it also makes me wonder when does the 6th Shattering Memory happen (sundering of Elders and the King) and speaking of Shattering Memories ...
... I´m starting to be really certain that the 3rd one with a huge manta flock and the 1st one with jellyfish were already seen in AURORA concert.
6th shard memory mentioned, have you seen the theory where the WL there might be the Dawn and Dusk Ember hugging since it's the only WL that has a mask? It's quite interesting to me and this season is definitely a retelling of shattering and what led to that point
Oh indeed I did and honestly, we´ll have to wait for this one whenever it´s gonna be confirmed or not.
As for now, the only other thing supporting this was that one trailer image of a light-kid standing and dark-kid sitting. And you bet that I´m excited in seeing its context alright!
It would be absolutely AMAZING tho to see all 6 Shard Memories play out in the animated movie as other Ancestors witnessed.
Which does remind me: the King´s Turrets. It seems like their function is to keep the Creatures out while protecting people and they´ve been powered by the huge ♦️.
A lot of 🧇 we have to do, but I'm honestly believing the shard memories are going to be played out since it's a season very crucial to lore, and part two might be about prophecy that is also crucial season. Maybe.
Does anyone know if it's been confirmed we are playing as Stewie (or the Orphan since it isn't confirmed) during the seasonal quests?
This is the first time we've seen "living" people, rather than just spirits, and I'm wondering if it's meant to signify the ancestor spirit putting our skyds into the past rather than just showing us through spirit memories
Apologize is already discussed, lol
We´re viewing this through Vault Elder´s Lantern and given the circumstances, it seems like it is, since we do help TT carry their stuff and all. Aka we are the orphan.
Sorry im kinda just throwing this in the middle of yalls discussion 😭 but the remembrance guide looks like the head temple spirit we see walking around
i assumed that was the vault elder
If they´re not confirmed to be Vault Elder, then they might be this one.
Pretty insane to think that in a world that has fallen apart so much, VEL is capable of summoning enough power to actually put us into the past. I genuinely wonder if that'll be explained throughout the quests or series.
Well seeing as this is before the fall of civilization, yes we are Stewie, while yes we still our skykid the way they are, im sure that all the people see us as Stewie, I like to imagine in their perspective its Stewie, but in our perspective, we still see us
interesting detail about this season constellation outside of it looking bit funky
alef part only has sentry and vault elder lantern, both belonging to eden, while stewie part has all the innocent civilians
Woah that's a pretty interesting detail, it could basically represent who they are and
Omg the orphaned boy is the king
Oh absolutely what I was thinking. Like we are actually in the body of Stewie, just don't visually see that.
yes he is we know it from murals
More confirmation that Dawn Ember is king, love it
Yes! That's correct!
And of course, given the open world of the game, we do see unknowns as well. 🤭🤭
Only remember, people, it´s still in the air whenever the orphan is Hopeful Steward or not. ;)
If its stewies memory we're walking around in. I wonder how they even figured out how to put it into one of those vault thingies (idk their name sorry)
And seeing as this is before and we went back in time, we are seeing everything in Stewie's perspective
Hmmmm good question, memories being stored away in a vault of some sort where memories will never fade away or be erased....
we got couple of promo arts showing dusk ember with manatee with hair being drawn suspiciously simmilar to how stewie hair in promo arts is + in movie the hair looks basically the same, just more detailed, but yes until we meet dusk ember in game or the movie shows aviary village and them being there as stewie, nothing is confirmed
Yeah, I mean of course the head temple spirit would know in a way. And just theorizing if theyre also the vault elder, then that refuge area must've also been where stewie was? Where all the survivors are, and somehow their memories were put into the vault as a way to remember the past because they needed to keep whatever memory of their society that they could which would be cool to see the process of that @trail drum
we see vault elder do that in trailer
That indeed is Vault Elder/Lamed.
Not just that, but actually pull spirits of that past out of Megabird for us to interact with!! 👀 Vault Elder´s real business.
Thats gonna be so cool to see in the episodes, ive always wondered how they transferred memories into vault!
past and present (pretend the manta plush is manatee instead)
Are we possibly Dusk Ember but reborn? Though from when I replayed through the new start of the game, I don't remember Stewie remembering us or anything. Possibly farfetched
Also I feel like I've missed MAJOR lore with the megabird, lol
Ya
Well huh good question...
does that mean that every sky child is a part of the king or every star is a part of the king?
And do you guys think Part 2 will be the continuation of Stewie's journey or the journey of the orphaned boy?
Ya
it is really hard to tell if they remember us or not if there is no voice acting in game, however when stewie was first introduced, it is said they are on guard all the time but they seemed to trust us from the begining so maybe us entering the memory in future created some paradox in past
it was said on skyfest that each part will be focused on different ember and that part 2 is dawn ember focused
I think reason skykids look like Alef is because they are birthed from his recycled spirit. They are not him. But are him.
I think they also got some light creature cause they can fly. Unless its revealed Alef learned to fly.....which is not
Totally impossible judging by how badly it seems he wants to.
Maybe not to fly, maybe fly to orbit to see his mother or find a way to see her again
he floats in TTE but that is not really flying and it can also be caused by the diamond itself as it does the same thing in elder memory, it makes you go slowly upwards
skid wings are "blessing" from megabird pretty much
wouldn’t the light have caused them to fly? in the book it talks about how light moved through the skies
The Archive Runes, the hidden passage with the big blocks are, in Vault of Knowledge despite their disuse over the centuries are kept relatively in decent condition.
From Japanese Livestream 3: There is knowledge, like projection cubes, stored inside the big cubes, sealed, but the cubes are also decaying. The symbols on the big cubes look like letters, but Reika says she won’t say that they are letters. They are designed to be like seals/sigils, symbols. There are also some symbols on prairie bells. The symbols also could be letters long time ago when the spirits were alive.
Sorry took a second to find but I'm very happy you mentioned this, the technology in Vault in very interesting.
Oh no worries, hmmm seals/sigils.....thats something that caught my eye
Oh if that's so check this out then. #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Speaking of current seasonal stuff, I also love how do guards look like.
Like seriously, they´re intimidating, like they´re up to no good. Can totally chuck it to the orphan´s view of them.
Other people look fairly common and all, but the guards are definitely pretty scary on a first sight if you ask me. And this also makes me think of differences between them and other Wasteland soldiers we see as spirits, including Fainting Warrior.
Maybe guards here are kind of like the military police force while the soldiers/warriors are the actual boots-on-the-ground military that we don´t see here?
So the king will regret what he did, sacrifice himself to stop the crystal but it didnt end well, and we also see some of the elders being thrown by the blast of the crystal and the last thing they remembered before they became spirits, now im wondering if they were also trying to stop the crystal with helping out the king, maybe to keep the crystal at bay
This is exactly why I wonder how will "sundering of Elders and the King" shard memory play out. Maybe the ♦️was activated too many times?
are you referring of the last memory from the shattering season /genq
that one conecpt art about the king's sacrifice and the elders
This, yeah
That´s why I wonder about the time placement of Lamed/Vault Elder meeting the orphan and them being with other Elders when the ♦️ shatters.
Question, does anyone here know Great God Grove?
It's a video game with "gods" who rule over several areas similar to Sky. The ending has a moment similar to the shattering, that's why I ask. :P
ohh I didn't notice it before but in that memory most of the elders are here (at least lamed and valley's elders)
Yep that's the one, notice one of the Valley elders has their weapon with them, Isle elder also had their staff
all of the elders are present. It is not easy to see all of them in one image.
It seemed like whatever spell the elders were doing didnt work as the crystal was highly unstable to keep it at bay
For real EVERYONE is dead to the point this seasonal quest is the first time we have ever seen alive ancestors. And its a flashback 😂
Maybe we will see how each of them react to what the King has been doing all this time, betrayed, hurt, with Forest Elder im sure she is gonna feel huge regret and guilt for creating the diamond in which gave Alef/Resh the idea to create the giant crystal
And also notice Isle Elder's mask is shattered when we meet him and the only thing he felt when he meets us is the flame which eventually we give to restore his mask
Would love to see Daleth's reaction considering how concept material depicts him and Alef's relationship.
living ancestors.
Where is that bingo card lol
daleth was alef's guardian or smth idrk how it was mentioned
Shown on livestreams but basically yes. He is the mentor who raised him.
I pushed it off as grandpa fell and broke his mask but it makes it more tragic, his mask crown got shattered by the crystal when it shattered and erupted
~~help they cooked with these twos relationship
~~
Basically the elders were like parental guardians to Alef when he was growing up, showing him the wonders of the realms, im sure Alef had fun hanging out with the twins
All of them.
Yeah kinda hard to tell, but yes all the Elders are there
And at the very top, Alef/Resh and Stewie, hugging before the Eden crystal shattered and erupted, two embers, one still burning, the other struggling, but with them together, the embers will still burn
Wdym Stewie?
aren't the charas on the left samekh
These two are Samekh yes
Kaleb calls the orphan "Stewie" because there´s a widespread theory that the orphan is young Stewie, which is just confusing due to not being confirmed or debunked. For the second one, we don´t know if they´re even a remnant of the King in the first place. It´s a lot of personal headcanons.
That's not why I asked
!wafo
Members here don't know when things will happen unless its been announced in #news. Best to Wait And Find Out (wafo) in the meantime. Hmm, kind of sounds like waffle when we say it together 🧇
I was asking what do they mean Stewie because I figured Kaleb was referring to the shard memory with the Elders, Stewie is not depicted in the memory. :P
Oh, they mean the pair of hugging wl (still give you 1 wl tho) at the very tippy-top of the ♦️inside that shard memory.
Hopeful Steward if someone is confused but we the Sky Fandom like to shorten it to Stewie soooo
Just like how dark dragons are called krills
Yes this image right here! Thank you ^^
Speaking of these, I then hope you people explore the first 2 Embers area as much as you can because the next quest gets unlocked in 5 days.
Yes, ngl, seeing the manta memory from this angle really makes me think of AURORA concert´s Manta section.
Right that.
To be frank, I always interpreted it as a Resh/Alef situation (not saying they are separate characters) but like he, himself having a man vs. self ergo self-awakening moment. Then again, that's probably just me overthinking that aspect in a more metaphorical and nuance sense rather than the actual fact of the matter. I think of that one moment in Eden when you die and recollect your light via hugging was what kind of got me into that way of thinking though.
The AURORA concert does reflect a lot of "historical" moments.
Am I the only one facing the in-game voice chat problem??
And I saw the inbox about players receiving an extra 15 candles daily I think
- Wrong channel, please ask in #questions-and-help
- Sky does not have a voice chat system. The mic icon is a voice to text feature.
Bruh😮💨
Same as well ... and advancing it into the bonkers "♦️is sentient" hypothesis. 🤭
The mic icon so misleading
Interesting, do enlighten me on this hypothesis
Essentially, when the King sacrificed himself, only some bits of his starlight-soul returned back to Megabird; others were either absorbed by the ♦️, thus forming the Void of Shattering and trapping his memories via red shard memories we can witness like it´s the world´s biggest memory lantern, or exploded outwards and rained upon the ruined Kingdom, becoming winged light. This is basically how the part/s of the King that were absorbed by the ♦️communicate with us (via shard memories + Void of Shattering) and the hugging wl at the top of it pretty much implies that the thing knows what are we doing in Storm Lock.
conclusion: shards are hot on touch, rain makes them smoke a lot (way more visible in game)
Aka thanks to the presence of Void of Shattering and these shard memories, one can conclude that the ♦️ is sentient. 👀
Wild that Eden is cold, but the shards falling from it is hot.
Air tension, like with meteorites. Methinks.
Oh lovely! I see what you mean, I like the idea that it absorbed his essences and created "memories" with him in it.
Given how close the King was to the thing, it´s not unfathomable to think that it did absorb parts of him alright. 🤭 Thanks.
Considering the setting of sky, the shards are def like meteorites yeah.
Oh indeed, especially how the force of the eruption is strong enough to literally push you backwards if you try to fly.
Also yes, the "♦️ is sentient" hypothesis also confirms why on Earth are we having wl inside shard memories.
Speaking of meteorites and falling, I like the detail of how when you are at home you can see shooting stars and it's addressed as sky kids doing other stuff but can be taken into context of descending from Orbit.
This seems like a good time to bring up my headcanon that the child we meet at the end of PNR/before ascending to Orbit is the Eden elder/ruler/whoever you think sacrificed themselves
And the location we are in during that scene is inside the big red diamond in the backdrop of PNR, a place we can't go without dying – AKA losing all our light…
That's my headcanon too!!
Great minds think alike
While my headcanon is that the so-called "pity room" after dying in Storm Lock is essentially Sky´s version of limbo/Sheol.
So I was right to say when corrupted, blue crystals grow from your person.
As for that bright child, I do recall someone saying that in concept art, this act was known as "kinghug" ...
Blue does seem to be the colour of evil quite often in Sky…
Not so much evil as it is of distance/coldness/isolation, which is what darkness is, really.
Blue = water = something that douses flame?
Counter examples: literally all of Vault
Eh wouldn't say it's the color of "evil" but I get what you mean. Also spirits are blue as well.
Thus the "isolation" aspect. :)
Krill searchlights?
Do mind that red is also used a lot in connection with blue and black as a color of danger ala ♦️, red shards, Shard Crabs and alert Krills.
I may have been a more clueless moth than usual because it took being sent to the pity room to realise that the krill are not friends
I was literally stepping into their spotlight my first time in Wasteland
I bet it´s because the very last color we see when the sun sets are shades of red.
Huh now that you say that, yeah, I was also having the same thought when we hug this wl and we ourselves have no light, i feel like the part of us is whats gone (Alef) of what he used to be before he became King, meaning once he renamed himself Resh, Alef was gone but not forever as a part of that light was struggling to burn, and the wl that hugs us is Resh, when we meet him, we only see him as the same other wl but he seems sad and full of regret, when he hesitates to hug us, thats basically wondering why we are willing to hug and forgive him after all the bad stuff he did to his people, the Elders and himself, its also basically, Resh being forgiven by his younger self, Alef, the ember that should've been gone but still remained and never left, Resh is the light that still burned, but once that flame got bigger, it burned everything and everybody to ash including himself, nothing remained, greed and selfishness overtook him like a wildfire
Will never not get over moths' reaction to krill, still remember when I first saw them and thought of that one Sonic Frontiers boss
YESSS YOU GET IT
Which also reminds me of the newest cape as well, Cloak of Darkness. Shades of black and dirty blue, but having a bright red undertone on its underside.
Omg it all makes sense now!!
I always thought of it as light and darkness reuniting – you can't have one without the other. Also, I think the captivity inside the diamond is a punishment, which is why that child is so surprised that someone's willing to embrace them.
"Why now, after all this time?"
Yeeaa
Which essentially means that yes, we Skykids are technically Descendants of the King (as we descend back to the Kingdom once leaving Orbit - I bet that one Orbit wl we always get is the King´s wl-light ;D) and yes, we´re showing the King what happened after the Shattering, thus in a way, we´re his penance for what he had done as well, since by giving our lives and wl to the trapped ones inside Storm Lock we´re technically repeating the sacrificial history of what he had tried to do: save his people by shattering the ♦️. ;)
There is indeed the ever popular "we are the King" theory which I believe…
i’m eating up whatever theory is made so long as it has resh/alef angst
i’m currently crying into the popcorn bucket
You´re welcome, since with this theory running, we´re essentially permanent angst for the King´s light that is inside us.
Since through us, he´s seeing what has become of his Kingdom and of his subjects, especially regarding Golden Wasteland and Eden.
There was also a time I believed that the King is reincarnated through us for the sole purpose of punishment – stuck in an endless loop of witnessing what happened to our own kingdom and being unable to fix it no matter how hard we try.
The idea was not popular because that's too much angst.
Which reminds me, imagine the thickness of the smog to literally cover that up, since in Battlefield aka post-2 Embers´s Last City, we don´t see this anymore.
GOD THAT MAKES THE DALETH STUFF SO MUCH MORE SADDER, LIKE DALETH LOOKS AT US AND MOURNS ALEF/RESH BECAUSE WE LOOK SO MUCH LIKE HIM
and yet Resh sees Daleth again and the kingdom he once ruled knowing it was his fault. Both of them see the things they lost
Who's Daleth again?
I don't know the elders by name, just by realms
Isle of Dawn Elder
Oh indeed, only that it´s not just punishment, it´s penance. What we´re doing with the light he´s giving us is inadvertedly giving him a chance to mend what´s possible, thus a little less angst. :)
But consider: Tantalus and Sisyphus
Check this out Mia, it'll make a bit more sense. Also "Young One" or One is Resh/Alef
Only that unlike them, he´s not stuck in the Underworld and he does manage to save his subjects and bring them back to Megabird, even if only in spirit. :) Aka regular + seasonal spirits and Elders.
I feel like I've seen this somewhere, thanks for the refresher!
My lore HCs are all coming together now…
oooh where is this from?
From the 2019 GDC talk livestream/video: https://youtu.be/wQP9spsb_IQ?si=PNvJGp7rf0q4Idp8&t=796
ty! I have been looking for references on lore! (I am also going through pinned notes dw)
Oh def recommend checking the pinned, got some good insight
Also, @simple saddle , for added heartwarming, consider the fact that we have irregularly-visiting Spirits at Aviary Village together with Hopeful Steward as well as seasonal guides. They could´ve gone and remain in Orbit/with Megabird permanently, but they don´t. ;)
but I am mostly looking for stuff tgc directly said or confirmed lore... while speculation is fun it is kind of confusing to newer players...
The devs peek in here sometimes too, don't they?
No?
The spirits still trust us and put faith into us still as we carry the King´s light, thus ... yeah, if they aren´t even tasking themselves to take care of us and to make sure we never feel truly alone, especially given the fact we can do some social daily quests (mentioning "friends") with them. 🥺
Sometimes they do…
Couple years ago yeah but not recently. I wouldn't get your hopes up by one of them responding here and giving lore drops.
Yes, as maskless faces show them being closed and with current 2 Embers area, it´s not just us. 🤭
I think the trust is implicit, as that's the focus of the game
To believe in the goodness of the world
(I was about to write "foodness," but really, is there a difference?)
ROFL well, Grandma is "foodness".
She is both, don't change my mind
And well, to spirits, we Skykids are said goodness. Their saviors and hope for the Kingdom. ^-^
"Wake up, child. Return our spirits to the stars."
Unfortunately, the devs love being vague and making the game open-minded for all players. Not to say there isn't lore directly stated but a lot of it's hand-picked for ease of consumption and designed to be interpreted freely. With that said, do keep in mind that some of the pinned messages are coneptual so some of it is retconned/has been changed or potentially could be changed. Nonetheless it is still Sky's history and a form of lore in the game. If you need help or want a specific thing, feel free to ask in the chat. There is also lore links and a google doc for basic info if needed.
Lore moffs are welcome!
Hey guys! I experimented with something fun! Use one of the solute emotions <
and the soldiers will do it back
The "groups" of NPCs responding is a very neat touch. The guards respond to both salute emotes and the "boo" emote. Children will react happily if you do the boo emote while adults will get annoyed.
I forget, what's the boo emote?

Oh yeah 🤣👍
Do it twice to a guard and they send you to jail for 15 seconds. There are two jails in the new season area because the season area is separated into two levels.
children also evil laugh lol
also you can see moms holding their childs hand walking in the seasonal area
and if you annoy crowds they take their children and leave 😭
Hm didnt really notice that when I was playing the other day
I'll be sure to check that out later
yeah!!!! and there are also couples holding hands
Hello
I saw these 2 guards who will send you back at the end of the line if you try to enter that big yellow door. Waited a bit, thought the line actually moves (in my experience it doesn't) and well... i just wanna know what's behind that door
i think its the “hospital” (?) we see in the episode where that person was looking at peoples illness
Someone showed the "hospital" earlier but I'm unsure if the building in question you're referring to is the same one
gloat and boo emote causes the npc to react badly
WAIT im dumb one sec
you can try entering the door?
Thought the same, but which part of the "now" aka desolate Wasteland is it? It's kind of a big structure and I can't put my finger on it - yes, I know it's the "Battlefield" part, but I can't tell which structure in this battlefield area the big door is
I was wondering if you could get the guards to lock you up! lol
Um I mean as far as notes go I am just trying to seperate the "has been directly stated or is canon through images" vs "highly likely but speculation". Mostly for my own benefit. Like I feel I have heard several terms thrown around for the crystal illness and several reason. And I love when I game gives you room to make your own story, my favorite games are like that. But I also just kind of want to have a foundation before I let my brain go wild. It's why I have been mostly lurking in lore chat and kind of avoiding posting.
I getcha yea
Nope. Doesn't work. Every time the 2 guards keep sending me back to the end of the line. Can't tell if the line changes or not - anyway, waited for a few minutes to see the spirit interaction, nothing happened, got bored and went back to exploring hehe
ty for all the posts in concept art notes though! that is very cool to see. I am working on videos particularly lore rants, but also looking at murals as I love art history every since I took an intro class in it.
At no point have I been more excited to go to jail
you mean this building right?
Yesss! Exactly! Can't tell what building it is in game, and also can't tell if the line changes at all and where it leads
Oh i'd love to see if you make anything! BUt nonetheless I hope you find all the content you're searching for, best of luck!
Line does not change, they just wait for hours if Im being honest 😔 service in this city is extinct
average ER experience
I did post something in the #promote-your-sky-content channel and did another one today but I think my lore understanding was a bit off for the new area. Hence my current lurking/questions
NEVERMIND I AM WRONG SOMEONE WENT THROUGH
yeah????
Just to clarify this is king of Eden right?
Yes
bald
That mask better be in 2 Embers part 2, even if it has to be ultimate gift
Hehe
why he bald 🧑🦲💔
there was an item thwt was a mask similiar to theirs so maybe
He got cursed by something worse than crystal sickness
Fairly sure he's wearing a head covering, it's like a hood cloth to put under helnets
Whoa
How long did it take?
Also, what building is that in-game?
a gambeson :)
Building beside market, i can check while I find the hospital oob
Thanks, was meaning to find the name
This may have already been said but what if the Tender Toymaker is our ancestor
The NPCs in the waiting line go through the doorway in intervals of two minutes depending on if the player is spawned near them. They are set similar to the parade i assume
Yeah, but in-game might be that first building we see in "the battlefield" when entering the area? Like the one next to the big dark plant?
Oh you mean present day one sec
can we enter the hideout only after redoing the quest?
The one behind recluse spirit?
yes
I was abt to show that one sec
Haha I knew it!
So that means just because it's a separate map in our game (the map thingy shows this whole seasonal area is somewhere near Starlight Desert) it doesn't mean that it really is one. It's just Battlefield back in time and they couldn't show it on the map otherwise, I presume.
(Also, I'll stop spamming you, sorry bout that. Thank you so much for answering!)
You aren't bothering me, feel free to ask whatever
This thing im doing is just taking way to long so apologies
Will say though the path through the gate behind recluse does have a spirit inside
more spirits?
When spirits are out of render distance they appear as a sky tech ghost, for some reason one is in the tunnel near the next area loading zone. 🤷
I posted a few pics above if you wanted to see
Is it a spoiler if technically it's been shown in the episode?
It's for the season so yes
||So what I get from this... the movie (this week's) takes place after the first seasonal quest?||
Sort of, the first quest was a pseudo flashback/introduction. It shows us who Toymaker is to Dusk yet also shows manatee and it's enjoyment over the toy despite the toymaker being present/alive. The game takes some liberties/minor changes from the film I will say.
Ohh that's really cool! Thank you so much for answering my questions!

hey guys on this season, this chat work as archeologic chat or as a time travelers chat?
the king die on the explotion?
How did you get down there
Chibi fall
Great now how do I do that if I don’t have the chibi mask
There are spells in the shop that can help you become chibi. If you wnat I can show you where or take you to the area.
"modern problems require" a handful of candles
Or....shared spaces peeps post up all over. Thats how I found it eithout knowing
Are you asking if we traveled back in time in the season?
Or yes certainly shall I send a code Sky distracting from my krill crab life activate
so that is how they convert more skykids to join the chibi syndicate /j
we are doing a time traveler work or a archeologic work right now on our investigations about the lore of the ancient era pre fragmentation?
Lmao what sure, you can send me a DM to add you, Queen. Be warned my game is laggy during this time. 💀
To answer your question Alex, we are using a memory lantern from the Vault Elder to see through the lens of the Dusk protagonist. We are not going to the past via time travel but seeing a projection of the past that we can "relive" through in order to see what happened.
Exactly, no matter how much we try to fix or mend the broken pieces of Eden, it cant be forgotten, while Alef forgives his adult self, Resh, the bad things he did will never be forgotten
Plus we have to carry this huge burden on our back from our king, our father, who had a lot of weight on him, he has to pass it on to us
Dont you just love it when your dead relative passes on their burden to you?
I wonder if the parts were swapped around at the last moment, and this is the darker second part?
Also because the first episode is a bit "in medias res"
I wonder if the Eden Elder actually grew, or they just used magic or something to make themselves look bigger.
swapped as in part 1 and 2 were swapped?
They look exactly the same.
if so, I personally think they were also because all the previous clips we were shown way back were all Dawn Ember focused, but it slowly gradually became Dusk Ember focus in the trailers until confirmed to be part 1
TGC just gotta screw up the release schedule even more, huh? I just don't get it man
Now i wonder that too, while yes we have the height potion to make us grow tall but not to the height of the adults and elders we have to remember we were born as kids who fell from the Sky just like the first skykid
DRIVING IN MY CAR!
Yes. It doesn't seem to be in chronological order, unless they did a whole lot of bungling behind the scenes.
Yeah, that makes no sense, it seems they worked on Dawn Ember first... Two Embers is great, but I'm starting to dislike the scattered release and stuff.
i don't jump to eden so much, just when my friend have time and usually that it's planned for a sunday, anyway pass so much time between one or other and well maybe 3 or 4 jumps to eden, and i don't grow nothing, he uses magic!!!
Just some witcher season one math
this isnt general chat
i bet the ancient magic to grow is more powerful than the modern grow magic
They probably had some sort of magical girl transition scene. I'm betting on it.
With dark butterflies for the glam. Gotta be goth during a reactor meltdown
Anyways, I can still complain about the application of the lore.
I'm just really mad at how ridiculous Two Embers is in terms of the release schedule.
First, they hardly seem interested in marketing it that much. No character profiles or release trailers. But even if they do that...
They release it in the lore-breaking, uncomfortable cinema, that's not even available to all players! No youtube, and no sharing it personally!
And I've heard from a friend that the Japanese version gets a celebrity voice actor to narrate it, while all other languages are in the dust?? And they release a special movie version with exclusive scenes for a limited time in Japan?? Are they trying to make it a commercial failure??
It just gets worse! Then we have part 2 released as a prequel, which means new players are gonna be thrown around without knowing what's going on, and it's not even gonna be continuous! We may have to wait a year for part 2, and by then, all the hype will die down.
Even if they are genuinely taking that long for part 2, a smart person would delay it so that the two seasons happened continuously and in the right order. Part 1 would focus on Dawn Ember, part 2 would focus on dusk ember. And there would be actual narration for all languages instead of throwing money at one guy. And there would be more marketing and it would be released weekly on Youtube.
Even if it isn't dubbing - then there should be subtitles and no dubbing in every language and no preferential treatment for one region
(By god, my grammar really s-shines today)
Anyways, for actual lore stuff, I think Skykids aren't really reborn from a specific person, but rather a general "fresh-start" sent by The Light.
I like to imagine the creatures we play in the Aurora concert are our past lives.
disagree with second part, skids are brand new species while aurora shows what happened 500 years ago
How would this connect with wl being part of resh?
but the spirits look pretty similar to us are you telling they are a old brand species? they give us the capes!!!
I'll let the expert speak if they're writing
Once again, ancestors are not light creatures, elders and skids are. Skids wear clothing made out of light that mimic what ancestors wore, ancestors doesnt give us anything lore wise.
Ancestors are species that game to sky kingdom from the stars and yearned to return to them one day but they couldnt do it alone. You as sky kid can however help them reach orbit and return to stars in spiritual way (understand, they are dead), just like Elders did before.
"All are given breath by starlight. The first of us lived in joy that we would one day return to the stars.
Together, we built a Kingdom in the clouds. We connected the seven realms with the power of starlight.
But then the Sky went dark, and our Kingdom shattered.
Many of us are still trapped in these realms. Please, Child... Bring your light to our fallen spirits.”
–Isle of Dawn Mural
“Spirits Gates like this once connected the realms of Sky.
Beyond this gate is a temple, where Elders once shepherded spirits back to the stars.
But the Elders fell long ago.”
–Isle of Dawn Spirit Gate
it is getting pretty late for me to go into more details, i can try contacting other lore vets to explain it further (with artbook refferences taht i dont have) but I doubt they come, it is way too people-y here now
tom was expert in this not me, i wont have the artbook to refer more info until tgc makes warehouse in europe
im more of a photographer than writer tbh
I'm afraid that as long as he isn't here, you took his place :/ don't know anyone here who has a better oversight on all topics sky lore than u rn
i like more explore and make questions and this is maybe my first lore season XD, because idk if the aviary count as a lore season while we need to move to that place
You're also a good writer

lot of time i open this chat and see 200+ new messages from past 4 hours since last time i looked, im not getting very positive i can do this much further
I fully understand, it's way too much for one to do it as a hobby. But I'm really happy seeing your insights here again and again :)
and i dont really have enough spoons to read and filter through everything, half of it is gen convo from briefly looking at it
i take a break of this chat after more or less my first weeks here, was fun the first time but change pretty fast and english isn't my main language to try understand so much messages
mine neither, im slavic
I don't look at everything either, max the last 10min - half an hour if it isn't much. I'd rather spend my spoons learning for exams lol
I'm peruvian then i speak spanish, it's difficult think how do the correct questions, i really want the function of translation of sky inside the discord
You can use Google translate or another translator online
they're quite good nowadays
i want the sky translator to work in pc version of game to oso i dont have to whip out phone every time someone writes in chinese to me
It's only on mobile?
Gosh my grammar is really gone. Brain mush
i play sky on pc, anyway the translation button its on the left side of the block button your mantain the mouse over the message a little time
PC does have translation though?
have the translation option, just first press c to see the history of messages and then put your mouse over the message you want translate
isn't automatic but works
as im coming back to shadows, i will share one thing here - manatees have nostrils
("eye" is the round white part on their heads, it is more noticeable in game, both on manatees, fish and manta)
doesnt work for me at all, there is translate button icon but it doesnt do anything, i have to hold google lens open on my phone to know what is the other person typing
That's tragic :/
Id be quite curious how much they can really see. I could imagine it's more like a light sensor kind of thing than a real eye, but then again, nothing in this game has pupils ~ so idk lol
yeah i think its more like light sensor or proto-eye (think of creatures in cambrian sea for example), thats why i wrote eye in " "
also the eel has eyes! it is the only light creature with actual eyes we know of
Forgot the word proto
ill be going to sleep
now i'm thinking on the murals of the first part i remember see a paintings of white krills, that are the original krills? then krills alwas be krills and just the moderns are darker?
are those really eyes or just animation stuff? Bc they really look like they're bulging out of the skull there, could be wrong atp tho, my brain is really gone today
skid eyes bulge too
The murals are often light because of contrast. It's just an artistic choice not an realistic image
... nighty

how born the krills? they always be evil eldritch creatures? without offend krill
No, have you been in the abyss?
same, its past midniught for me too
maybe, you talk about the place where its that giant fish with so many eyes who try devour me?
I have a small theory. Is it okay if I explain it here?
murals in game and concept art for season of abyss show krill being created by accident when ancestors tried to create rtifical light creatures
Are there any theories on why sky citizens all communicate non verbally?
They don't have mouths. The masks are just that: masks. Their faces all look like proud victors "mask"
Besides that one
i never was on that season i start play the game on more or less the demo of sky on pc by steam you know more or less from october of a pair of years
Below the mask is a honking hole, like a blowhole just for honking. Trust me on this, I looked /j
Just a VOID for a
HONK
light can create sound to some degree
~microwaving skids~
Jokes aside, the honk is just a pulse of light from their heads. The honk sound is just a vibration/ mimicry of an animal, hence why every additional call is based on an animal and all spirits that give calls(excluding
guide and Stern Shepherd) is called a "whisperer"
But what about the citizens are they made of light too?
Maybe
So, yes or no?
Please feel free to share theories!
a crab?
uh sorry for the ping but is it confirmed that sky citizens communicate non-verbally?
because it sounded like in the episode they were speaking something similar to a foreign language
ancestors are not sky kids
anyone notice how the crabs of the toys of the old era, have claws and modern don't have nothing of that?
I mean that’s fair, I just more went off what I saw. But it definitely possible they do
verbal language doesnt have to be spoken words, wookies for example dont have vocal cords able to create spoken word, they have their own "language" based on warious growls, honks, screeches etc, sky might have something simmilar, just less "feral" so it might sound more like spoken words
VG logic. You don't hear Link talk, but everyone understands him.
So my theory is that aviary village suffered through a war. The war destroyed the village, and its slowly building up again. Initially, it was just 3-4 shops, but over time we've built houses, a furniture store, a dye workshop, a concert hall, and (most recently) a cinema. Something happened to the village, but its recovering. Any proof supporting or refuting this?
there was a shard that fell into concert hall that was likely the cause of everyone in aviary dying
its a... second? third? duets quest memory
That's entirely possible
anyways i should go to sleep now, its almost 1am, please no pings until around <t:1753250400:t>, thank you
good night
My interpretation of the season Timeline ingame:
Revival is one of the first
Dreams, enchantment, moments, performance(after or during dreams), and flight happen alongside Revival
Abyss happened sometime between Revival and the fireworks thing
Assembly and nesting happen alongside each other
Duets nesting and radiance happen after Revival
The events of 2embers happen centuries before everything else, but the actual season happens around the same time as the other aviary village seasons.
Shattered happened during duets
The rest of the seasons happened At any point during this, however gratitude was before radiance and belonging was before bluebird
Third quest from Duets depicts a red shard landing on the stage, unleashing a bunch of dark crabs into the village. Here's a video link to see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MlPAoxl90Q
EDEN IS FAKE?!?!?! /J
Omg I love that they used pngs to give the illusion there's more to the top xD
thats literally something Big Brother would do (congrats to those who know the book!!!)
Ok, I’m ether looking TOO close a detail, and nitpicking, but what if there was an era post Eden? I randomly started thinking about after realizing the stiff in Wasteland look somewhat different
Wdym post Eden?
oh the wasteland shield theory
That is a fun topic ❤️
I’m referring to after the crystal went bad
I c i c
That would be pre-calamity if it was before.
Post Eden would mean after the crystal went boom.
I realized, I just edited it
You mean the spear?
That giant spear belonged to the great GW Elder, only he wields it, the other spears were only wielded for the soldiers, if we remember their was a battle well two different battles, one had mantas fighting back during the song The Seed but the other one had the krills attacking the rebellion including the soldiers from the trailers
But why are the shields we find in the present different than the one we get from 2 embers?
Or how the spears we also find in the present has two extra points at the bottom?
Well it has been years after the Eden crystal erupted, these weapons have been left untouched for a long time, things become buried in time, except for us when we come into the world
Im guessing these are replicas of the shields and weapons
But how does a spit gain two extra bits?
Those are two different shields and spears.
Maybe its how they were made and designed years ago
Now I could see a possible royal soldier thing, a different group with different gear
One of the ways I could explain that to myself
Im noticing the symbols are different too, one has a star, another has a diamond and the last one has a diamond shaped star exactly like Resh's mask
"Two shields" theory, check the link
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
So, a possible civil war
Legit thought you were trying to reference that at the start because of Raider's message and was so confused on why you were hung up on the present being different 😭
Wait that does seem like a good theory.....
It's been like mentioned multiple times there was a war(s)
Yeah
Heck, even Rememberance season shows the impact of the war on some of the citizens
And I’m guessing Aurora quest version of Seed shows one of the side’s perspective?
i believe so?
I mean, we do see an arrow in the spirit’s side
Is there anywhere i can go to read about the lore/peoples theories? I used to know alot but ended up forgetting after like a year😭😭
pins, and search, I believe

Ty!!
If you got any questions feel free to ask
Yep but it shows mantas fighting and people with spears but no other creatures plus we see some dead mantas so whatever battle was happening between the mantas and the people was something serious
I just realized something since I'm at the elder room OOB but I wonder if we'll get a resh model ingame we can eventually visit
People expect him to be tall and menacing but watch him be the height of Vault Elder and the way we see him is tall and intimidating
No no no hear me out he’s about the size of 2-3 chibis stacked on top of one another
Funny you say that someone showed art of Resh as three skykids stacked on top of each other hours ago
the King couldn't afford to finish building eden so he had to use cardboard cutouts
tragic
no wonder the crystal exploded
house of cards type of situation lol
Japanese community got the special treatment likely due to how dedicated they are to sky, like they're extremely so, not to mention there's a branch entirely dedicated to Japan community in TGC dev team. Please do not bash Japan for this kind of treatment, i'm just happy that they got what they truly deserve.
AND it's expensive to hire different people to dub different languages and globally screen in the theatres, not to mention Two Embers is entirely available in game for global audiences for free
it's not the first time movies are released with the prequels coming after the main release; see Star Wars trilogy and the prequels
They've been producing this for so long so i'm happy that they've finally released, im sure they know what they're doing. I'm sure the hype wont die out once part 2 comes out
the hype won't die, the people will of dehydration due to the sea of tears /j
first episode already made me cry i dont think id have enough LOL
Guards also respond to acknowledge and respect emotes as well. :)
Wdym by acknowledge and respect emotes? :v
the saluting and respectful pianist emotes?
If that's the case, I did not know the respect one got a response. Noted.
Exactly.
#general-sky-discussion message some really cool lore interpretations in genchat!
I haven't been in lore for a while but I have a headcannon and yall can let me know if it's cannon or whatever.
|| My headcannon is that all of the seasons are leading up to a huge reveal. And I believe that huge reveal will be that there is an Eden King/Eden Guardian, who either 1. Got exiled because they tried taking over the realms which led to the destruction of them or 2. Eden King was corrupted by his greed and he tried to take over leading in destruction which ultimately destroyed him as well. Hence, we as the "last generation" are the last hope to relive our ancestors memories and find out what happened to we can fix what he did. ||
You're new right?
To the server yes, to sky no
Each realm has a Elder, including Eden. The Eden Elder, known commonly as The King or Resh amongst fans (this name was used in concept art but ultimately retconned, all the Elders had a name at one point). Seasons like Season of Prophecy give insight to how he was appointed as the de facto king and gave the other Elders their power whereas Season of Shattering tells us about the shard and his ultimate demise/"sacrifice". I highly recommend checking the murals page on the wiki, visit the seasons area, and checking the concept art in the art gallery and in the pinned messages in this channel.
Definitely not explaining it good but hopefully you get the jist, feel free to ask questions.
Yeah ive been playing off and on for years and never delved deep enough into the lore to remember so thank you!
Sure, I hope you enjoy your time in the server
Well, if I have to respond...
They didn't hae to do a theater screning globally, but I think it's hypocritical to lock everyone to the game while giving it in theaters in Japan. At the very least, they should've released it for free.
Also, I think they hired a very famous celebrity voice actor (yuki kaji) in Japan. So I'm not sure the funds are being used correctly.
I'm not trying to bash Japan, I just want everyone to have the same access to the beautiful Two Embers.
Anyways I'm done with this topic, I'm just disappointed at what TGC did what the release schedule
Well, the reveal has already kinda happened, it's just very lowkey. We see the destruction of the Eden Elder in the final Shattering memory.
I must have went on hiatus for that quest or something. Darn
Speaking of: I am very intrigued as to whether we're going to see the other Elders in the coming episodes of The Two Embers, because the beginning specifically describes the place we're in as 'The Last City", implying that there aren't any others left. But that wouldn't make sense if the Valley was still standing, and I don't think that the Valley Elders would just abandon their own realm.
We also see all of the elders in the final Shattering memory when the diamond explodes, implying that they were all there when it happened. It's an interesting maybe-inconsistency.
I wonder if last in this case means "last city to be constructed" instead of "last one standing"
You can see it here: #news message
The star falling into the diamond is thought to be the Eden Elder, they have similar symbols
Resh has 2 chibis stack on top of him
I like to think in another universe if Resh was good, he would still do pranks with the Valley twins
I think Valley might have been one of the few to be rebuilt before eventually everyone met their demise
Also when I was looking at a website earlier it said there was Resh (the king) and then Aleph (the prince).
I've heard of Resh but not of Aleph?
Alef but yes
Okay so has everybody noticed the parallels with both orphaned children being gifted one last thing to remember their parental figures? Stewie was given a butterfly and the orphaned boy(Alef) was given a pendant
In the modern lore, Resh and Alef are the same person, just in different stages of their life
Yep Alef was his young self and when he was the prince, when he was crowned king he renamed himself Resh, the same person but went through changes in a not so good way
Gotcha
Two Embers Theory I Saw on the lore website im on:
|| The child in the Two Embers Season is a younger Hopeful Steward perhaps. ||
Well there are two children, plus two embers one represents the ember that still burns (Hopeful Steward) and the other represents the ember that struggles to still burn and is fading away (Alef/Resh)
Where are you getting this from because I need to go there immediately
Its called theories
Theories, theories everywhere
Just their mind, I assume lol. It's a great theory.
But I think the ember of Alef/Resh has faded away entirely. I don't see them coming back to life ever again.
We will see in Part 2 which would be months after Part 1, hype up for Part 2
But watch us correctly be right about the orphaned boy being Alef/Resh i mean there is strong evidence
Maybe Aviary is the last civilization left and the burning ember (Hopeful Steward) was the surviving sky dweller who wanted to try and rebuild?
People like to theorize Dusk (the protagonist in chapter 1) is Stewie, yes. Their appearance is quite similar. They are referred to ask Dusk because of the location they reside in (Golden Wasteland is referred to as Dusk because Elders/Realms are compared to cycles of day). Dawn is the name used by fans for the other protagonist because they are seen in Isle of Dawn in the teasers. People theorize the Dawn protagonist is some form of Alef/Resh from the past.
Dusk eventually leads to day, while dawn eventually leads to dusk
Wait there's an orphaned boy
Yeah in the trailer for Two Embers, there is an orphaned boy to which people theorized is Alef/Resh
Well, both the Dawn and Dusk Embers both end up orphaned. better to use other terms
I really gotta watch the trailer
That's the thing though: In the first episode of The Two Embers, the intro goes like this:
The Light has always healed us.
With it, we tried to build a better, brighter world.
Now in the Last City, a sickness is spreading.
The Darkness is closing in.
With the added context, it does seem like the city is the last one standing and all the others are gone—or at least, have fallen to Darkness.
OK I have watched two trailers and am now caught up
Yeah I'm leaning more toward this ^
The more darkstone they mine and the more ligh creatures they use for power, the more the light left and that's why the sickness spread like it did
Yeah, but maybe they weren't like, obliterated by krills or anything, they "just" got hit with a plague
I think narrative wise they should've gone with Dawn Ember first. It would make things much easier to follow.
We could get a clear timeline, and we would have context on who the Ruler is.
Imagine seeing the life and story of the Dawn Ember first, and the final scene is them getting crowned at a pristine and beautiful Eden.
Then bam, timeskip, everything's bad now, dusk ember.
It could be way more impactful.
Resh isn't dead (yet) in the story, but I kind of agree with the ember of Alef/Resh already faded away, maybe after exploiting darkstone and Alef turning into Resh. I've always noticed that Alef's murals in prophecy depict them as glowing yellow/gold, while the mural we see in the vault elder cutscene and an eden mural no longer glowing yellow/gold. We also see those murals of non-golden Alef/Resh hold the Eden Diamond
I honestly think they made Dawn Ember's story the second part solely for building hype since Alef/Resh is a long time awaited character very important to lore, but what do I know
Headcanon: wl were MUCH much rarer to find before eden, and having more than 2 or 3 wings would mean someone who’s very “experienced” in adventure/travelling. it’s much easier for us because of the sudden abundance in children’s lost souls after eden shattering.
that would explain the five (but four unlit) star grandma cape
She’s doing so much work travelling back and forth from her table, Christmas location, and the bluebird
Exactly! Granny works hard too, providing for us
It's weird, I think more people know of the evil king design of Resh then the young child version.
I think the winged light for ancestor capes are a bug. I find it very unlikely they could fly.
i wonder what happened to the big city in the valley? or maybe they count that too, since golden wasteland did seem to be connected to valley
Good question but the real question is, what really happened in the other realms? If this city in GW from the past is the Last City then, what happened to the others?????
There are so many mysteries to be solved, while yes the darkness overtook the rest, we must know which was first
I read “the darkness is closing in” from the intro to mean that the other levels/areas have been overrun by the darkness—krill and all that come with them
And the creatures too???? 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭
Aw man don’t make me think about what happened to the animals
i think its called the last city in the context that people are fleeing the other cities to escape the darkness
Exactly bro if it means the darkness overtook everything, think about all the light creatures 😭 😭 😭 😭
and resh is just like “yeah imma keep doing what i’m doing”
That makes absolutely zero sense, sorry.
Revival is all about US restoring the village in present day.
Prophecy is one of first simply based on the murals we have, it is all about Alef conquering the trials and becoming the Chosen One.
Two embers part 2 is about this part of timeline from what we saw in trailers.
Any, more “tribal”, seasons likely follow after, for example Passage, Assembly, Gratitue or Lightseekers. It is still within range of human lifespan for passage guide to exist both around when Alef was still a kid and be present in aviary village before the shard fell.
The more modern seasons the closer we are to shattering id say. For example moments use camera which i dont think existed until around middle of Alefs life when the industrial revolution began.
Enchantment happens late, there are paintings showing vault acolytes, vault is Resh doing.
Abyss and Duets are near the end, they knew each other and were friends. Abyss squad does scavenge hunting in flooded treasure reef facility for darkstones. The same facility has murals about krill being created here.
Two embers part 2 happens here and shattering shortly after. Shattering shard landed in concert hall in aviary and killed everyone.
Present day we are sent by megabird to be the new light that will restore the kingdom. We find petrified stewie and save them and begin restoring the village with them.
Season of radiance happens if it didnt happen in past.
Valley is mostly preserved thanks to the snow and ice, lot of it is buried deep under it, hermit valley is good example, there was a stone path down the hill (likely before the boats existed or maybe as alternative if anything happens to boats) through cave system that is almost invisible now, mostly only that one bridge is still visible and rest is buried.
Ice is good for preserving things (we have couple of ice age animals dna thanks to it), making it a bit more resisting to time and calamities (Earths seed archives are in polar regions for same reason). Lower parts of golden valley (wasteland) were not that fortunate, sand and wind can destroy stuff fast
Eden is shown to be separated by walls and exist on its own but it still likely counts as same city based in the intro text shown here because there are people outside it being sick so valley people were likely sick too, though they were rich so they maybe could afford to be treated by doctors better
id say even village of dreams and other rural areas valley citizen was noticeably richer than someone owning house in wasteland but thats just my theory
If we learned that Wasteland once a living home, and which later the spirits ran away or gone from there..
What happened to the middle map of the wasteland map? Yes, we know in the past there's war between the wasteland's soldiers group with different group (maybe the traitors or something¿)
(This is just me maybe) but is it possible during that time(OR after the war) krills attacked the city, this elder big manta involved in the war, maybe tryna to evacuate some people
but ended up dying because those three krills attacked the manta¿
And the treasure reef hiding more lore I see
Probably a city, or a mining place, or even a city where they tryna to experiment living creature? And the floods? Probably from the depth¿
Idk, I'm just being silly with the wild assumptions
The area is called "graveyard," which should give you some indication of what happened there…
We see animal remains there, so maybe creatures of light?
Also, there are definitely more than three krill there…
Since the animal remains are huge, I can say it comes from the elder manta
Its a whale bones
You can find same skeleton in boneyard and it gives you (and everyone on the map who dont have it unlocked) whale call after clearing up darkness from it
The whale bones!?
It does bear resemblance to irl turtle skulls!
you are gonna have a bad time first one looks like it wants to tell you a joke but is struggling to not laugh first
I’m talking about the quest, not the concert version
Is there a potential that there is no sun/the sun doesn’t shine in wasteland in the distance past we see in the first part of the two embers? During the first chapter of the show light is present but no sun is seen and “night” falls so suddenly. Maybe in a way they are using something in Eden like the (now called) Darkstone to create an artificial day/night cycle.
we're viewing a memory lantern projection thanks to Lamed being the best elder ever
There is a sun undergoing eclipse if you rocket in wasteland (could also be moon but i like to think and it even looks more like it is sun eclipse, its a bit poetic in many ways, there not being enough light due to light harvesting and thats why there is just tiny sliver of sun and also eclipse -end- of a kingdom)
And when you are about to enter orbit, it also directly shows the same thing you can see in wasteland oob (the sun eclipse)
Sorry, I mean before the shattering when all of the spirits are alive. I am aware about the sun in the present.
it goes well with the diamond being the artificial sun
and maybe turrets flickering and light going out just means that it's night time
There is theory that eden is in perpeturale time loop and the closer you are to it the more intense it is, it is being destroyed again and again at the same time, we even keep saving ourselves from the statue in the void room (that is canonically between time and space) and we couldnt do that if our past self wasnt saved by our future self, creating paradox, this would involve the surroundungs as well, including the sun crescent both in pnr and wasteland
So what you see in the sky now might be the same thing ancestors saw in their last moments before they died
In the sky as in the literal blue dome this planet has, not sky as kingdom or game
AHDKAJZJJA STAPH
I genuinely don't understand your problem with the release schedule.
Plus
I just want everyone to have the same access to the beautiful two embers
Isn't it already available in game for free? Aside from the device limitations that's out of TGC's control.
Plus cinemas aren't cheap for many people either. Not a lot of people would be able to access the cinemas as well
Comparing it to Japan's "special treatment" isn't a good reasoning to complain about the two embers. It's an animated feature so it makes sense for it to be featured in the cinemas as well. But Sky is probably the only game providing a free access to it for virtually all players. So what would make it better, make 2E available only in the cinemas globally and make everyone pay for it only?
I'll stay out of the topic as well, I'm just sharing my 2 cents here.
I just wish there's actually a good way for switch players to experience two embers without having to download sky on their phone (and who knows, maybe they don't got the space to download sky there).
If I may add my 10 cents to the topic.
The game is great but does has it faults. Which begs the question on what the game is actually about.
Sky is a game. We all know that. And it is a game with a beautiful story it is trying to tell. But that is not all that the game is about.
The game has a major feature that is cosmetics. People can downplay that it is an optional activity for players to pass the time and have fun with. It remains a major feature of the game because when you are not exploring the game, learning about its story, or completing its quests; you are candle running.
That or spending real life money on cosmetics.
When you introduce your friend to this game and they ask what you do on a daily basis. Telling them you either grind away to get cosmetics, or spending money on yourself and/or friends are not great selling points.
Neither is the allure of promoting the story that took 5 years for TGC to tell in updates, and yet the actual story could have been told in a two hour feature film.
Making the animation accessible by putting it in the game is half of the truth. Posting it on YouTube would be more accessible because you wont have to download the game, complete the quests, deal with all the chirpy skykids and subtle advertising of cosmetics that you have to walk past before sitting on the sand next to a player paying a "premium" for a virtual couch.
The game is good, but could be better.
Why is not better? Because the grind makes money.
TGC is a business and it deserves the revenue. There is nothing wrong that, and that alone.
It can however make a game that people actually want to play with friends and not have to eat up the hype of cosmetics.
Favouritism with Netease/Japan/China is one thing.
But thinking that there is nothing wrong with the core of the game's grind loop has been a problem for YEARS.
This and the many other rants from players may be drawn out. But is is also FEEDBACK.
TGC may post their Two Embers animation online eventually.
But not without letting players see it first.
My guess is to get people to play the game more.
That's fair I suppose
Also tbh, I have a hard time reccomending sky to people :,D
this is lore channel
"Come online so I can drag you through the same 6 levels every day so you can afford a pair of blue pants"
There are some nice spots to hang out in. And the story is fantastic.
So new players have plenty of content to occupy themselves for weeks (that is without the game pushing into the gauntlet that is season of revival that is actually 4 seasons bundled into 1 netflix style binge)
But the more you play the game, the more jaded you become to its hype and fomo.
The events also help breathe new life into the game. But these are just adding a log onto a dying fire...
correct.
The lore can also be meta.
what i meant by this that debate about movie availability should rather be in #seasons-events-chat
Are there any references to how the ancestors are made/conceived/born?
No. Old lorechat peeps agreed that ancestors just appear one day/fall from sky like skids and get adopted by someone
There is the implication that families implies that ancestors are like humans. So the ancestors are likely born into the world.
Just head cannon, huh?
I hope they show us a birth of an ancestor someday.
your source being?
*not all old lorechat peeps.
Lore is open to interpretation
more like theory based on observation rather than headcanon, there used to be deep debates about topics like those when this chat was less lively
There are parent spirits and grandparent spirits.
If one reads between the lines, there in lies your answer.
i did not name anyone in particular nor had you in mind to begin with so please stop nitpicking
None of this is proof that the kids were born the way humans are. Found family exists and so does adoption.
Ok dude. It's just a debate.
Don't know why you are trying to pick apart my responses here.
You did the same, my guy.
Yeah, that's why I was wondering this.
We haven't seen one being born tho, neither we've seen an ancestor carrying a child within them.
They might not be like mammals from our world since they also have glowing eyes, implying their have light as life source.
Hey everyone!
me: joined the game in 2020 (lorechannel on 2021)
I would think I know a bit about the lore of sky...
Not you flexing you are "older", that means literally nothing.
We have not seen a baby ancestor, though we do see children spirits.
Provided that the game is family friendly, I would imagine that the game cannot go into great detail on how that works.
Just a general reminder that discussions about the limitations we’re facing watching the 2 Embers animation series are better held in other channels.
The contents of the animation can be discussed here (as it’s part of the lore of Sky), but release dates / platforms on which it can be watched /… are best held in other non-lore channels
Pretty sure birth and mothers are family friendly.
But you are right, we've never seen a baby
Tho I would love to see they were made out of clay and being breath life/light within them.
Imagine having a kid is part of a ritual, two ancestors build a clay statue together and call for the light to give it life.
Guys... Does The two ember movie will release on cinema, I'm mean on real cinema
Nothing confirmed :(
As this server is a family friendly one, it’s safe to say there are limitations on discussing “how children came to be”. However, I think Old Bird Raider just tried giving another perspective to a more commonly accepted theory.
I kind of follow the opinion too, as we have the belonging family (generations implied by the cape colours).
Imagine the stork theory applies in sky. lol
Please send a report in #contact-the-mods if you notice rule breaking behaviour. This goes for everyone
We need light storks now 👀
I think they just tried to say that they have a different opinion than the more commonly accepted opinion you’re referring to Luca.
Tone and intent aren’t always easy to convey over text, so I understand why things might get misinterpreted. That happens! To me, it reads more like “oh, I’ve been here for a while, but I have a different perspective.”
Is this a bot?
Im a moderator
Oops, sorry for assuming.
Let’s move on now. I’ll remove a few messages too, there’s absolutely no need to start name calling others in a channel about the lore of Sky.
can i dm you i havew something tosay
Ty for asking! Go ahead
I was thinking more like the Adam biblical myth, I guess it fits the magical world of sky.
The movie Robots did it perfectly, it was family friendly and fitted perfectly into the lore of the movie.
I wonder what the other realms looked like in the past.
I feel like Forest looked more lush and didn't have the intense rain compared to the present.
Flashback to when the lore chat proposed the wasteland being a marsh and with lush grass fields. ❤️
I wondered what Eden could have looked like.
Would it be pillars of gold and marble?
Terraces and gardens dotted between homes?
Ginormous light creatures just floating by?
It must have looked heavenly.
Well, we got a snippet from the chap 1 of Two embers. It looks like it has stone pillars as well but it’s too dark to tell
maybe eden before industralization looked more like a place of important spiritual purpose related to the soul cycle
Prairie and Valley probably mostly looked the same
Probably, minus a few structures. Moments' peaks are one of the few area left mostly untouched.
I wonder though how did Dawn end up so baren with it being one of the furthest realms to Eden.
I sorely miss the old concept designs for Dawn in the Light awaits alpha.
Mostly because there was so much more terrain to explore.
If there would a chance to see the past of any realm, Dawn would be one of the top destinations on my list.
that's a good question, what happened to isle???
The actual lore, or the development of the level?
lore, yeah
what caused it to become so barren??
There is recent concept art of grandma as a baby
Though take it as a grain of salt since it's concept and something not seen/put into game
Wasteland definitely isn't in the best condition during 2 embers. I'd be very curious to see the biomes before stuff went spiraling
One hypothesis is perhaps a knock on effect from the ancestors and light creatures no longer completing their pilgrimage and migration to the summit in Eden respectively.
If an ecosystem relied on animals (or people) to thrive, and when the balance is disrupted badly enough for plants to slowly die out.
That could be one possible outcome for Dawn.
Mmmmm
MOUNTAIN ISLE.
MOUNTAIN ILAE. MOT TIAN ISLE
Maybe the same reason wasteland is so sandy? It was called golden valley before, I can't really imagine it being in wasteland condition. Even desert civilisations were very lush near big cities (mainly cause they were build near rivers but yeah) and the sludge had to came from somewhere later on
What's really curious is why the rain in forest is polluted but the water itself isn't. It really should be considering its constantly raining, but I think this has more to do with the mortality rate of fresh moths than ecology...
A "moth" is a new player. They have brown wings, they flap around uncontrollably, and they are drawn to flame!
bot: a moth is is a new player...
krill: fresh meat?
several theories can be made
water levels rose covering the Isle in sand before it withdrew
the beginning bombardment from The Shattering was significantly worse in Isle
the Storm was just particularly bad in here
none of these actually contradict each other
there is most likely even more theories that can be thrown around so feel free to come up with your own
|| actually it was glassed from Orbit by the local hivemind node because it was deemed a threat to the greater will of The Light||
Huh on the last part?
Water levels could be one reason (see abyss) but could also be shard-rock sand. Eden is also very sandy and I'm pretty sure Resh wouldn't want to keep his little nuclear reactor pet in a sandcastle
Ah yes, my radioactive pet rock /j
Noone, I mean this as respectfully as I can: please stop with the “The Light is an evil space empire and Sky Kids are slaves to it who are there to cleanse the planet so the Light can conquer it for its resources” spiel. I don’t know if you’re joking or being genuine, but it’s starting to get annoying, and as a krill in disguise has just demonstrated, it’s also incredibly confusing to anyone who hasn’t seen you do this before.
This is Sky, not Halo.
It isn't too farfetched to think that maybe the shattering was way stronger than we imagined that it also affected Isle
Though it does contradict with the state of Prairie being actually mostly intact, aside from corrupted crabs there and there
here it was more so meant to be an example on what could be a more of an absurd theory
but i get it, i'll try to drop those ideas since they don't seem to play any part in the narrative actually presented in the game, i'm just going way too hard with my Aldia impressions
I really think this was more of a design choice than lore choice. If they were to design sky in accordance to an explosion that's strong enough to wipe everyone out and leave only ruins, then sky would be a very different game lol. More standard post apocalypse vibes. And more krill (i still think those are just some smallish krill - leftovers) or corrupted water, way less moth /children friendly. And is a children's game in the end ~
It absolutely is a design choice it seems, bc according to the artbook and behind the scenes, the dev wanted to showcase the realms as a kind of, timeline, from the age of pure light to the darkness and corruption (and the representation of the stages of life too)
Or its also possible is that life is slowly coming back up in the areas beyond the hardest hit GW and eden
Very possible, it's visible in the density of light creatures imo
there's still few hints of darkness remaining here and there too. Not to mention the occasional shard falls
I guess that's basically a new kind of "weather" in sky
Aldia dark souls?????
yeah
"young skykid, do you wish to shed this curse"
:0 grey hi!!
but anyway, it does feel like our journey towards all the realms is like a timeline of the sky kingdom's rise and fall
Hi Neko!!! Been a while (it's still very overwhelming being here :"))
Yeah it does, and Valley conveys the feeling of the "golden age" of the kingdom
I hope you're doing well, cozy fren!
Anyway
Isle represents the birth of a civilization, Prairie is simple life before diamonds, Forest is when diamonds were first discovered, Valley is the golden age, Wasteland is when everything started to collapse
Unsure about Vault tbh, maybe the aftermath?
Then Eden is when every ancestor and elder went extinct
Thank youu! I'm feeling a little better now, I had been feeling annoyed earlier >>;
I think Vault, as a place to store all the wisdom and knowledge, I think it represents the realisation and wisdom of what had came to be to the kingdom? And preparing for the worst (ie storing the memories of the citizens)
There's also the repository of refuge in vault too so gw and vault are very closely linked (tbh since 2E, I'm convinced that Vault is inside the mountain xD)
Vault's definitely inside the mountain, that makes the most sense to me
Also the devs really paid attention to the details, in the Last City, the street lamps weren't lit by fire, but instead it's powered by the blue diamonds
No wonder why the "temple" for vault is called Summit
I really love tiny details like that! Gives insight into just how widespread and influential diamomds were
I know right!! It gives us a glimpse to life back then, when I assume, true light / flame was very scarce
it's all coming together
all according to tgc's plan

Gw temple isn't just a temple, its a gateway to the King's mountain city too
It also serves as the entrance to Vault
And Vault is one of the main routes to Eden
not sure if this should be posted as it is not available yet so technically still beta content
Omg imagine a nighttime scenery in the Last City, those blue glows
I think it's okay since oob content is considered live content?
Prob best to spoiler it tho
this supports the theory that fire was forbidden/extinct during that time despite it being cure for the illness, a way to control people id say
Would be better to spoiler it
Yeah, I think the turrets, with the prominent blue glows support this theory as well
Makes me wonder if the eden's giant crystal itself acted as an artificial sun as some had mentioned here, since in the area the only light source was that summit
What happened then to the real sun? There's still a day/night cycle in peaks and aviary
it goes dark very fast in trailer when there is blackout so it might be certain mural in certain location also supports this
maybe resh has little bit of good inside still as is trying to make safe zone
what mural
ngl the sun might be connected to megabird, when yopu get weak megabird, you get weak sun, there was not enough light in soul cycle because it was harvested faster than megabird could regenerate
lemme get there hold on a minute
okie
reminder that krills come out as soon theres blackout in trailer so the light is likely keepin them away
I've seen that mural in episode 1 too, I thought you meant it by a mural hinting that there wasn't a sun visible at least xD
to me it shows the crystal keeping away the darkness, the clouds resembling darkness
Ohh I can see it
Why does this look familar to a mural seen in Journey? lol /lh
Also, the structure surrounding the crystal is giving Castle in the Sky vibes.
That seems to be the King's castle that floats above the summit, where the giant crystal actually resides in
also saw someone here saying that leak is sewage water - its not, its still blue, sewage water in wasteland is green/black if you pan your camera underwater
it makes bubbles because there is one more pipe at the bottom that is likely hot
yeah definitely not sewage water. Around the pond there are clothesline, which implies the people there wash clothes there
Maybe it's like Enchantment's pond water hence the texture??
Pipes can often trap air in places. So bubbles can be a general indicator of water moving.
It being hotter is still an interesting detail to think about.
what a weird looking ducks
we're ducks alright
The two ducklings
Speaking of the pipes, it appears that not only that the pipes carry the light / embers to the summit, it transports the water from other sources (maybe the sea or lakes) for the King's city. The folks down here took advantage of a leaked pipe xD
Cuz how would you get a drink at the literal summit
That does make sense!
just imagine how hot must be there, doubt resh invested in good insulation
i think stewies bare feet are ready for walking on present day eden ground, bro is walking on hot pipes like nothing
Given the crazy number of pipes, surely the king used the pipes for different purposes
This also explains the pipes at the shipwreck too
Stewie did approach the cracked pipe to catch the Ember like it's nothing so
But I doubt the embers in the pipes would radiate as much heat, see in ep 1 we see Stewie feeling chilly in the abandoned building so they had to find something to warm them up - a candle
Also this indirectly supports the theory that, the artificial light from the eden summit didn't radiate as much warmth either, why was stewie feeling cold when there's a light beaming down onto the stone
They needed a candle to feel comfortable (especially so for the manatee)
Ngl it'd be terrifying to be there when there was a complete blackout happening, like it's a day suddenly turning into night under 1 second
life at the Last City would be very interesting
you can get chills from anxiety too though
True (also hello guys)
True, especially after being chased
Is the artificial light theory something the king wouldve done to have more power or is it something else
watching candle flame is also one of methods how to calm down from anxiety attack
I’m keeping my eye out for any bird symbolism
True
watching fire alone is so powerful, it can definitely serve as a meditation tool as well as a door to imagination
The exact reason is largely unclear. Hopefully we'll get the answers as more quests and episodes release
So then light was free, it cleared paths, like bridges in the sky to get back to the stars
I mean it also makes sense that artificial light sources are less warm than natural
Sunlight feels warmer than illuminated fluorescent light in general
When light is kept, stored, then no more light to clear away darkness, and so darkness comes flooding in all forms opposite to life, those that feed on it.
Any theory on what the abandoned building stewie stumbled upon after escaping the shepherd possibly was used for? It feels like a temple to me or maybe a storage xD
I think someone mentioned here (i forgot who im so sorry) that light was concentrated and kept in tunnel systems like the one where the child escaped into to prevent ascension
I personally believe its for the king Resh to expedite it more which then inadvertently may breed more darkness since its kept circulating in tunnels
I think?
When Mantas and other light creatures cross through the clouds they open up spaces of clear skies. So I feel like when those creatures where used to extract light and control it, darkness came to shunned light away
Then the giant crystal has all the light sucked away from the countless creatures
This while thing is just greed then
Yikes
I wonder how the crystal went rogue
Emotions of pain, sadness, anger, etc
Stored in that crystal, cause remember memories are stored as well, and what stores them? Light...
so that light took the shape of those emotions, so what attracted? Darkness, pure evil thirsty creatures out to eat anyone alive and full of light
bells are also used to clear paths, we made wind paths working again using bells, bells stops rain in forest and make the sky clear a little bit, bells cleared the fog in aviary and i cant stress this enough, here are what seems to be original paths to realms and maybe if one day we restore the aviary belltower, we will get the og light awaits realm exists instead of portals #lore-discussion-spoilers message #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Wait, that concept artwork, where did you get it from
this one?
Woaw
Yep!
https://x.com/thatskygame/status/1067153029529448449
possibly here?
it was shared by tgc on facebook and twitter, iirc as part of days of sky
Fashion icon in the back I see
We need lore of that fashion icon and stat
wdym
Oh that's a VERY old concept art
No wonder I havent seen it
i have ton of concept art saved, scavenged from various portfolios and old tgc posts
Wow that's beautiful, and yes that is why it is mentioned in Blue Bird that one of the children was gonna make instruments to heal the hurt, so bells, cause bells clear paths while clearing darkness and sickness away
Wait you mean the child's destiny in Q5?
for example i have this almost finished twins concept art and i love those outfits, they look like spies
On this note what do you think happened with the bells when it came to war?
We’re is the fashion icon ancestor
honestly i wouldnt be surprised if some of them were confiscated and melted to make pipes
Probably the bells fell out of use
ooh, the time when ancestor elders hand te markings. but also right after their anima guardian concept phase
Tbh yeah
Which is pretty depressing to think about
That happens
Destroyed like irl, taken away
it happened in irl history too and not that long ago either
More like they'd be melted to be used into weapons, bc brass isn't suitable for pipes of that scale
They probably took any bell that wasn’t bolted down or in a village people had long abandoned and forgotten
If bells clear pathways of darkness and allow light to flow freely then i suppose resh didnt want that happening
Might as well turn bells into tunnels to keep it circulated and powerful
Weapons, tools or just destroyed in battle
Yeah there are too many reasons possibly happening to the bells xD
Not a lot of pipes were made of gold
Maybe brass or copper
Tbh I also think the bells were no longer used at this era, since darkstone were favoured. The bells seems to be used to communicate with the creatures
see Sanctuary
sky has golden objects and yet most of the pipes (based in wasteland) were made of stone or some other dull material
if the kingdom was slowly being consumed by darkness with eden in center, they maybe were sending expeditions to nearby darkness surounded areas to scavenge what was left and maybe even "TSA" checked every city newcomer too for anything valuable
Brass and copper aren't durable enough for the pipes either
Wait can you explain darkstone rq
Aaaa that's a lot to explain lol I have to log in for a dev talk soon
Yeah it’s likely what happened and would mirror what happens irl
But there is something about Resh that didnt work in his favor and cant quite capture what it was but I think it has to do with connection, so kinda tied to the Connection Spectrum mentioned before. I feel like he was such a prodigy, such talent to manipulate light that once he started to manage the light of creatures and humans, he lost it and couldnt control the darkness that was born out of it
gold in wasteland (if any) could have been taken somewhere else
either valley, eden or destroyed
I see this same archetypal concept all across humanity, where one individual merges so well with the All that they become everyone else, they can feel them and all. If you have seen Dune you know, animes like AOT mention it, JJK too and even in christianity with Jesus.
A sort of metamorphosis happen in all of them, chaos and a sort of apocalipsis occurs, then rebirth into a new era or new you, whatever form you wanna imagine, cause cosmological too, stars do it too
Is darkstone something that absorbs light? Sorry i dont remember
Is it something that the king used to keep light circulating and prevent escaping to ascension or…
darkstones were originally called motes and were suppsoed to be collectible, motes later got split between darkstones and winged lights, darkstones got the battery part while winged lights got the collectibles part
darkstones were first discovered in forest cave by alef and teth (forest elder) and found to be able to be charged with light after being refined, forest temple area was turned into industrial zone and quarry and temple into factory and it looked much more sinister
darkstones sprouted industrial revolution in the kingdom and over time replaced butterflies as power source
you can se A TON of darkstones everywhere in sky kingdom, they are those rhombus shaped stones everywhere on the ground, at the belly of boats, in various mechanisms, the clsoer you are to eden, the more common they are
they were powered by light from light creatures
the giant crystal in eden is also darkstone
treasure reef had darkstone mine and quarry too and those are everywhere underwater, abyss squad is scavenging them
in unrefined state, they look like green-black crystals that get brighter if a light creature (for example you), come closer to it, they cant recharge you but they also cant harm you either, same darkstones grow on you when you get hit by krill or stone
more about motes here #lore-discussion-spoilers message and here #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Thanks so much i figured it was something ive seen i just had no idea they were given a name

🏠Not originally from the city, but now calls it home

✨Their best works are inspired by the ones they love
🤲When able, loves giving trinkets to children in the market for free
These refined crystals that absorb light remind me of diamonds and specifically prisms, because of them being able to manipulate light and because of the spectrum of colors that we see in Sky.
and if you see the emotional spectrum, it's tied to the color spectrum, which is light.
so makes sense that a king powerful and sensible enough to feel the emotions stored in light he would unintentionally make it way bigger by the tremendous absorbing power of the crystal, so then the crystal exploded cause it was too much to contain, like it was too much light being kept, stored, controlled paths, caged creatures, etc. It collapsed and darkness was already surrounding that.
Oooh okay okay
hey ive been thinking idk has anybody already talked about but does the child in the two embers have anything connected with steward at aviary due hair similarities (if its allowed to discuss about it)
yea theory says the child is stewie
yeah even in (noob mode) channel sayd we will be seeing Stwards backstory on part 1
Yep that same child is our one and only Stewie! (Hopeful Steward)
well daaaaaamn now the lore went deeper
i think given recent merchandise and promo art it is very obvious it is them
well now i need to know more what is happening im still wondering how did steward ended up at aviary at first place but i mean lore continues we will eventaully know
You know thats a very good question
second what happened to Stwards manatee companion also thats huge question stward got companion at that time
A possible hypothesis is that hopeful steward either landed in Aviary too soon and became petrified by the darkness.
Or they landed without the spark of light needed to be reborn.
Either way, they were surprised to be revived and see a skykid with the flame with them.
Also hopeful realising that it can help revive the other ancestor spirits.
It is possible they either don't know they are dead, or are seemingly accepting of themselves being a spirit.
whats also intersting is hopeful stward knew already about aviary he knew where to go already when u first look at cutscene steward was heart broken seeing the location in shamples till we revived it with our light
iirc the text said they didn't have the light/spark (like the rest of the spirits) unlike skykids
That or determined to see what lied beyond that sealed door and find any ancestor spirits they can save
It could also be practical, after all the whole city has cloth tents and stuff. Think of how we switched from fire lamps to electric lights.
This adds an interesting twist to their interaction with the rhythm guide.
While it is still possible that stewie knew the rhythm guide in life.
But they could also just eb glad that they are saved and happy to see another spirit to rebuild the aviary with.
Skykids are a missing link the ancestor spirits needed after being trapped in the realm all those years.
A spark, a bridge, a glimmer of hope to hopefully restore what they once had.
There is a very obvious, but very tragic, answer.
could it be it died at the storm togheter with steward we he petrified?
Or earlier. In the trailer, we see the child and manatee inseparable, but we don't see the manatee at all when they enter the vault. There is also a short scene in the earlier trailer https://youtu.be/g3Wm_PGUyDw?si=cB431As7eyQGi7Ur (here at 9:38) where we see steward doing some emo aurafarming alone
They walk up to the Wasteland Temple completely alone, with not even a guard to stop them, while everything is falling to the storm. The music fits perfectly as well.
i see but now im curious to ask who is the second child i assume the first child aka steward is good sided but then what is other child some of my friend's theorise its evil side but cant be 100% sure due we havent yet seen the other child in action
The second child is the Eden Ruler, in the first episode we see them at the very end
the eden rule or the king like wiki sayd hes supposed to be called (Resh) no? I mean its not official name anyways but what does he want undtill the Shattering of eden and awakening the storm.
we havent yet seen the full ending becouse where it happend ended right at end of part 1
undtill for now its unknown we should keep quiet undtill we see rest of the parts
I can still speculate, we can figure out from ingame clues what they did.
The Eden Ruler was born as a child in Isle, taken in by Isle spirits, left for the Cave of Prophecies, completed the trials, gained power over the sky world, went to Eden, and built the giant diamond
cute little detail - the manatee flops down all sad but once you open the gate it starts to happily wag its tail
Oh yeah i saw this
Too bad there was no toggled interaction
By the way the new call emote annihilated me oh god its so funny
I really wonder why they did that manatee like that considering the other one is the one that becomes you're friend (and is Dusk/Stewie's companion). Also agree wish it had a toggled interaction. qwq
Cuteness factor to mitigate the depression or something idk
LOL
didnt they show it following us around in the trailer? maybe we can do something with it as the story progresses
If you go into the big manatee pen, you can see that a button shows up, though it doesn’t have anything to click yet. I expect this is what we will use to guide the manatee!
Vault elder: Did you enjoy the past?
My skid: mhm
skiddadles around with manatee shaped bulge under the shirt
Theyre important to probably show what that plague of darkness is
Any creature seems to be affected but i wonder if its zoonotic too
It's supposed to have that yeah
hi hello just curious about what are you're thoughts so far about pre-explosion eden.
so far my understanding is that The King is hoarding/gathering/using the natural light that candles summon (the ones that are traveling in the tunnels and the kid uses to light a candle), causing sickness to spread and making a beacon for Dark Creatures.
From what we see in chapter 1, yes.
The shard is a battery for light energy and presumably when activated it flares out. Dark creatures are attracted to light (as seen with Krills in GW and with Dark Crabs during shard events). The general cause for the sickness can be assumed its because the light in the world is waning (mainly since its being used as a power source) in the world however how it spreads and takes shape is unknown.
I like how they present chapter 1. Making the final area in GW be a refugee camp as the "last city" was a interesting choice. We really are given from the get-go that this is the final moments and everything will end badly if something doesn't change. A lot of people are sick but despite this the Vault Elder, Lamed and by virtue the place of Vault still takes people and tries to treat them. It's also safe to assume the sickness is non-contagious. Though I do question if dark creatures can spread it considering how game-wise skykids can be affected by them in some capacity.
Adding to my message on the waning part, the Aviary Village mural states:
The stars were once united and our light was infinite.
The first of us descended to build a Kingdom in the clouds.
But we took our light for granted... and in shadow, we withered away.
A long time has passed. Now, you bring us hope.
Go forth child. Return your light to our fallen stars.
They basically "wither" when in darkness and presumably end up like the husks in-game that we have to bring back into the light.
Not just candlelight, but also the light energy from animals as well.
U know something came on my mind I've been talking with friend of my theorising sky kids how were they born he took idea from aurora at end u see statues of sky kids at that part we were butterfly's friend says seems like us as butterfly fly to towrads the statues and communicate with it there fo the butterfly infuses into the child turning the stone into Sky child But yet I did ask him how did sky kid fall from sky also soo what am i saying is those pipes with light or I assume are butterflies are souls or sky kids being send to eye of Eden??
Can't be sure but I was thinking about it
do we have some theory on why they're doing that or it's wafo
Doing what?
resh gathering light for
to power up the giant darkstone, all darkstones require to be charged with light (thats why they activate when you put your candle to them), unrefined darkstones (like those in peaks) do nothing, they only shine brighter when a light creature is near it
Skykids are born from light (the most popular theory which is taken from concept art is that they are born from the Megabird) and fall from the sky, landing in Isle similar to Alef/Resh's arrival. The whole butterfly section in the AURORA concert just puts you in the perspective of a light creature just like the previous ones where you become a jellyfish, a fish, and a manta however the sections in the songs show history and are worth noting. It's a popular theory is that AURORA is the "Megabird" or otherwise mother of the skykids. Her form changes a lot throughout the film but the one when she shows up huge taking us to orbit connects this idea. Also its stated Skykids are descendants of ancestors (mainly Resh).
Oh I see
Examples from Tom Zhao's website: https://www.tomzhao.com/sky1
Have anybody also ask what does our sky kids are like looking for i mean they have like mormal life saving animals getting rid drakness lighting stuff etc etc usually sky kids stuff and sacrificing them selfes at the eye of Eden and then reborn are they like looking for something or this is just normal daily life as Sky kid and not looking for nothing.
Are you asking what their reason for living is? I don't quite understand.
Yeah something about reason of living I know they came just to relight everything but what is it they really been also called for
Yeah this is basically what i think too
Light circulates in a system which he gathers as power leaving no room for light to naturally be with people/animals thus not helping them in any way for the darkness that keeps spreading
General censesus is that they are trying to reach Eden and restore the kingdom with their light (helping spirits and the Elders). However this is never stated in the eyes of the skykid but throughout the game via the narration. Skykids are free to do whatever when they're in the kingdom but their purpose is to ultimately repeat the cycle over and over again.
Soo basically usual like life and saving who ever is trapped at the eye of Eden?
To be frank, the statues we see in Eden are other skykids who have "died". No one is really trapped there.
Essentially probably do the opposite of what resh was doing, freeing light to ascend and wash over the kingdom again
Unsure why it has to be in a repeated death loop Diavolo-style though
DIAVOLO LOL
Korega… Eden… da.
dksfdgkl;fhdg
Then if they are dead and aren't trapped then why giving winged light releases them from the statues still (not to be annoying just curious)?
How do you guys feel about the Dueling Stars season?
The what now!?
how do you think about the new season
Oh two embers you mean
Yeah its peak fiction
how do you think about the new seaso
The new season is interesting.
I fell through the floor... lol
You're good! Asking questions is what this channel is for (partially speaking but I digress).
Giving winged lights to the statues is to help free them so they can ascend to orbit. We see this when we collect ascended candles in orbit, "winged light" skykids show up and then fly off. A statue is left in Eden when a skykid "dies" and ascends. When a skykid uses all their light they also turn into a husk but only in Eden do they turn into the statues, mainly because of the enviroment and the red shard that is housed in Eden.
I've done that numerous times, kills me every time. I will say I'm pleasantly surprised by the new season map.
are you ok!
it doesn't with me for some reason.
My skykid's skin is too thick for the void. lol
I see have question who is the prince named Alef I know the king is resh aka the king of eden who is Alef any theory who it is?
Are you guys using voice input? You type really fast
we can use that ?
I think Yume is into soo much theory he knows soo much knowledge he types super fast.
HAHAHA boy if you think I'm a lore enthusiast wait til you see some of the others like Luca
Oh god >->
they got a whole document at the ready
Oh, the dueling part threw me off
I like it, very cute
I have a soft spot for nonverbal animated material (think Shaun the Sheep)
Are we sure that the dusk ember is stewie? or are we just calling them that?
People just call them that because of the appearance, we will have to wait and see if the connection is legitimate.
ig so because dusk ember and stewie look awfully similiar
sure
but it's not revealed yet if that is true or not
they really do- but i dont think the lore matches up- unless dusk founded aviary or finds his way there- stewie doesn't seem traumtized enough to be our ember
we're only at ep 1 wait till later/hj
I'm gonna watch lorechat explode after the 4th episode like
yea
Now I wanna see that fr
tha last ep of part 1 is gonna be 11th august
I might jump into the fray myself
we're all gonna be fried by that ep
– though what a way to go
Question for all the major lore heads on here (yume and Luca I’m looking at you) (and all you other geniuses I sorry I don’t know yalls names yet 😭) where do you collect all your knowledge? What sort of things do you look for in game to provide ideas for lore, and what out of game aspects do you use to provide you with knowledge? I know artbook has a lot of stuff, but that’s all. I love learning about the lore (haha hyperfixation time), and I want to know every single thing there is to know about it, I just don’t know where to get started. Any ideas?
most of the things are said by either past interviews and/or concept art iirc
Oh boy... okay so Alef is the child seen throughout the murals of the Cave of Prophecies and seen in a certain spirit, Ushering Stargazer's memory. I highly recommend viewing certain seasons in Sky like Season of Prophecies area on your own or checking the murals page in the sky wiki. But without further ado here's what we know about Alef.
Alef is the chosen one, the supposed prince of Eden. He was first brought into the world when falling from the sky and landing in Isle of Dawn as depicted in Ushering Stargazer's memory. It's not stated in-game but he was then brought to the Isle of Dawn Elder who acted as a mentor to Alef, eventually Alef and many children went to the Cave of Prophecies and did the trials. However unlike the other children, Alef completed the trials and became the "Chosen One". The murals then depict Alef giving the other Elders (Forest Elder, Valley Elders, Golden Wasteland Elder, and Vault Elder) powers from each trials. Each Elder ruled over a certain realm in the kingdom but ultimate Alef was their king and they were together for a long period.
Here's where it gets a bit confusing. Alef is the king, he and Resh are one in the same. Concept wise they were originally two separate characters but ultimate that got changed to focus on Resh rather than Alef (not saying Resh was taken over but Alef is just his former self). We can see depicts of both of them throughout the game but neither are ever shown like the spirits or even Elders. One theory is that the winged lights scattered in all the realms is Alef or rather an imprint of him.
Also here's a collage of Alef/Resh by kamilico: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
i remember seeing a tiktok mentioning how gw had a lot of resh's symbols i couldn't unsee it
The top of the final area shows Resh's symbol along with some areas so yes.
Yeah the time traveling land kinda is buggy i accidentally oobed
Ooook I didn't expect that second I didn't think picture that kamilico shows the symbols everywhere I didn't think the symbols much just tought it was a star shape but symbol belonging to Alef
it's a cool detail
It is I didn't think much of it until now I see what they really ment
It's shaped in a similar mannerism to Resh's mask and the old concept art of Alef's mask.
- reading and searching back in the lorechat (that took a while)
- taking part in theorising and debates (take note of sources)
- looking up online sources ( tom zhao, purple almonds, 7 days of series, ashley coad, jem, jose luis, gdc, kim mcmahon, reika yoshino, yuichi etc.)
- learn to separate concept and light ease based lore from modern lore
- and knowing where else to research lore
I used to be naive, then objective, but now a days have some bias though that stems from the saltiness built up over the years
korega?
Research goes a lot into looking at in-game stuff and connecting them to online sourcess from conceprt material (though do not take everything from beta, light awakens, and concept art as verbatim as they change/get retconned lol).
Something giorno said in jjba
Wait Alef being smaller version of Resh basically what u mentioned could it mean that the child the second child in the two embers is (Alef)...?
maybe he just wanted some denture glue and cleansing tablets
CONGRATULATIONS U GUESS WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE THOUGHT but yeah people speculate Dawn is Alef/Resh in the past.
Soo the two embers thats it the two characters were looking at is Steward and Alef?
Supposedly but yeah
yea but unconfirmed
in theory
God that just made me think of Resh as my dentist....
I wonder if this kingdom had like propaganda or something
open wide
which one, resh's /genq
Oh god xD
Oh hell nah 😭
He looks like Charlie's father in the toothpaste scene in Charlie and the chocolate factory when robots took over his job.
thats actual concept art by the way, bro spent all the money on building empire and now has to flip burgers darkstones
They made him look like a twig 😭
Alright y'all I'ma head bed. But now I really want become part of this Theory Gang it's getting interesting looking deeper into sky. Anyways goodnight!
Aww I'm glad you think so! Have a goodnight Xeno, rest well!
Btw do you have like a folder for Sky concept art or something?
Thats how he looks under his gigantic robes fr
They better not... 💀
I will go full on parent mode.
Who cares he ruined the kingdom with his greed
His punishment is twig build
Why do you hate me /j
Would not be the first for lore enthusiasts to have a folder of concept art.
Bonus points if said folder includes images found on here.
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised either but it's funny to me that Luca just had that one at the ready.
Adding to this but my WPM is not that good. I have to like recheck myself here and there. Not everything for Sky lore and gameplay knowledge is stored in my head but some of it definitely is because of experience. 😭
as if he wasnt always like that
I would NOT say that's twig shaped (except the last one). He looks like how the skykids look for the most part.
Also I adore the third picture has him with that one kid outfit, it's really adorable/funny.
well his adult self looks like spraycan so-
(meme made by azzy)
Yeah....
The towers do not give him justice either.
Autism
Heck yeah
Did bro always have that mask as a kid or is thay when he was freshly coronated
Not always
Coronated, yeah. Even the memory has him without it.
Wow he was so innocent
Why is it always the cute ones
is this the king when he was child?
Oh right these two caught a child falling from the sky
Maybe thats the fated story of how the kingdom came to be
His neck is so tiny in compare to his head that he looks like littlest pet shop figurine
STOPPPPP, he does 😭
Isnt this a simbolism to be the walking diamond/crystal? Like this mask is representing the castle where all the light goes to
Like everyone gave him the power to wield light and to be in charge of all the ascending light from the whole realm
So he is like a diamond sucking all of that light, but obviously he uses diamonds to serve as his extensions.
Dont forget to copy text to avoid the bot from snipping it for no reason or warning
Damn i got censored 💔 not sure why though
Which memory was this again? Forgot about it
Ushering Stargazer
Stargazer
Fun fact.
The memory used to be a bit different.
The spirits were looking at murals that only show up in the memory.
They no longer check out the murals, but they still show up on the stone pillars.
So that mask is a crown i guess
Makes sense
I need Resh's mask/crown
I forgot where this was stated in concept material but diamonds represent knowledge/power. It's a common symbol used for the king.
Shown in here to a certain extent.
Yup
And knowledge is stored with light. In Sky and in here.
Im gonna cosplay him one day (even tho im she/her) its on my bucket list now 😤 dude has the hardest fit in sky
I need to get so much stuff from Michaels….
Ping me when you do i wan a see that lol
Theres also theory/possibility that his mask mutated because if darkness, something that concept art also shows
I would love to see the cosplay if you do!!! I will say though you guys are in for a treat when the last stuff in the Two Embers seasons comes.
I wanna see that
Does that mean its been made of light or
You know what's in it
Hopefully ill work on it piece by piece and get good photos done but college is gonna start in a month
If you look closely, his child mask is already star shaped
baby boy... (so precious in the art)
I just wanna hold his hand
Kinda depressing to think about
Just a sweet little kid who turned into a monster tyrant
I only have stewie and perfrormance guide atm, need to rework Sah
Wdym Luca? Like irl?
Sweet baby boy that become a burned out gifted kid moment, know it too well.
Haha burnt out because all the light went out
Get it ||aoughhdhk.,,,||
Just a thought, I notice the caption says "Corrupt King"
A "corrupt" ruler means they are ones who chose to become corrupt.
The did not become Corrupted
I wonder if this might hint at the King being the one who corrupted the crystal. Not the other way around.
No candles?
BRUH
So im not crazy
Good point!
Also i may be projecting irl politics here but often times tyrannical rulers will exploit power instead of power exploiting them
So it makes sense
Yesterday I shared a theory that the King let his greed overpower his sense of moral stability, therefore leading him to corrupt the crystal and destroying both himself and sky humanity in the process
I know descriptions and adjectives are a bit wonky for English.
But 'something' that is corrupt. Namely a person who is flawed, or dishonest, or choses to be corrupt.
Versus 'something' that became corrupted by an external force is an important distinction when determining where the corruption originated.
Yes you make sense
He is a corrupt king but not a corrupted king by some external means
Also, to echo from older messages (all the way back in the light awaits era of this chat)
Villainising the King may not be the way to go.
The King may, or may not, be the 'bad guy' because they caused the world to burn (as an expression).
The game made a point that it is not using the typical "Hero's Journey" story telling model.
Contrary to the typical story telling game formula where the main character (aka the protagonist), skykids are not the true protagonist.
Sure, we learn about the story from their perspective. But your skykid alone is not the 'hero' of the story.
No one's is.
The game uses a Collective Journey story telling model.
And with that, the roles and dynamics of the story changes a bit.
If anything i feel like sky is like a biography of a “world” leader except we “larp” it as skykids
Regardless of how good or bad they are
Within the collective story we have to find out what really happened
And once we do, figure out how to set it right
Its a reflection of ours kinda
so we could kinda tell that it wasnt solely Resh's fault and I dont think he was really evil
Lowkey gives Ghibli vibes.
Where even the 'evil' characters have redeeming qualities. They are still evil and can sabotage other character's efforts in their missions. But whenever they decide to help the main character in the story. The protagonist may not reject the help just because it is the 'bad guy'.
I have a feeling all of the elders were involved in the fall of the Sky Kingdom
good night ,everyone
indirectly, unintentionally, or unaware. Yes.
Personally i think the king might have wanted to expedite light as power but went about it in a wrong way
Its also easy to fall into greed once you are given power i doubt he was “born” evil/corrupt
Project the IRL-ness please, referencing and forming allusions is what I live for!
Sky as a whole uses real world elements all the time. It may not be like our everyday modern world but it references historical actions (the use of murals as communication similar to cave paintings and forming transportation via the use of animals like horses in the BC era) and fictional allegories (the story of how the king being corrupt is used a lot in famous dystopian literature) abridge us into its world and vise versa.
Well yeah they’re (almost) his cabinet/parliament (?) so you may be right
We see that each of the elders in our first play through are completely devoid of light, and we are returning that to them. What happened that the light disappeared? Did they use their light wrongly and the universe took it away? SO MANY QUESTIONSSSS
Shattering
I have an even worse thought
Once this child fell from the sky and was considered a prodigy/blessing the adults around him gave unrealistic expectations because of his insane power
So he was pressured to complete the trials and thus had so much power he had no idea what to do with
Idk about you but thatd turn me insane/corrupt/mean too
Speaking of shattering, it was confusing for me
Man i dipped when shattering happened because i was too tired to grind but i played most of it
Adding to this but they are. Not on the same level as the Eden KIng was with the shard but the Elders were depicted as both benevolent and wise yet greedy. They all specialized in certain "jobs" and would do anything to do those tasks. Forest Elder was known for the darkstones and in the Elder cutscene she snatches the light as soon as she can continue working.
first season to not have season spirits (that are ancestors), and a season area you cannot freely revisit...
specially since all of them where right next to it right before the event
Final shattering memory #lore-discussion-spoilers message #lore-discussion-spoilers message shows them (and Resh) being first one hit by the all light consuming explosion and sent into void (that is canonically between time and space and where we meet them, source is 2019 tgc livestream)
Gotcha
Lorechat yall are just fueling the hyperfixation thank you
I’ve been researching lore for like two hours now it’s great
Im quite enjoying all the lore facts im getting as well lol
Do you want the resources copypasta or do you already have it?
Do you think darkstone crystal in eden probably erupted because the king contained too much in it?
Ohohoh yes I would love it
Either control systems failed or he put too much juice in it, thats my theory

I can not express enough exploring Sky's lore for yourself firsthand, forming thoughts and opinions on your own and then discussing with others to learn about Sky's world and its lore. I still remember being a fledgeling and doing the season areas, being taken aback by the final shattering area and crying over the Remembrance spirits. It may not seem like much to just look at a wall with a mural but it gives so MUCH.
Thank you!
And please never stop asking questions and discussing what you find, Sky is an open-minded game for everyone and this channel is will love and care for its intricacies.
Yeah just pg 13 thoughts though
beyond that is safe between friends or other fan servers
PFFT YEAH
What are all the elders names again
~~We do not suggest asking about the reproduction system here no sirree ~~
Just please keep it lore related, earlier convo about movie availability, how often someone goes to eden or whereto get chibi potion belong to gen chat and not here
Isle is daleth, prarie is ayin, forest is teth, valley is samekh, wasteland is tsadi, vault is lamed
They are hebrew letters
Taken from https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Elders
The Elders have names based off Hebrew letters from concept development that are no longer canon, though the fandom sometimes refers to them as such:
- Isle – Daleth (ד)
- Prairie – Ayin (ע)
- Forest – Teth (ט)
- Valley – Samekh (ס) (They share a name, though the fandom refers to the spiky hair twin as Sah and the bobbed hair twin as Mekh.)[1]
- Wasteland – Tsadi (צ)
- Vault – Lamed (ל)
- Prince – Alef (א)
- King – Resh (ר)
Though the devs refer to the Elders by the times of day their realms represent:
- Isle – Dawn
- Prairie – Day
- Forest – Rain
- Valley – Sunset
- Wasteland – Dusk
- Vault – Night
- Eden – Storm
Besides who cares about that if theyre all dead in the end anyway /lh
They go by multiple names/titles #lore-discussion-spoilers message
JKFWSKJLFKS:LKS
Love Flame sounds like a low budget kpop song
Shhhhhhhhhh
Sky kids are KIDS, they do not do this stuff. Please refrain from making those connections.
I was just trying to make a funny 😭
There's 0% reason to theorize (or joke, which can easily get out of hand) on that topic in this server
It doesn't even say anything inappropriate you guys 😭
Yeah Best saved elsewhere
Dw gang i understand
But some things can easily be picked up and then made worse
The topic leads many possibly directions that won't work here. Where do sky kids come from? They fall from the sky!
So did Alef
What if Alef was a skykid prototype or similar species/alien
Each mural portrays him as child of light, imo elders are proto skids
And everyone knows that. I deleted already anyway
I used to think that the skykids were like fallen stars sent to set what was wrong right and fix the world lol
Elders? Can you elaborate
i always thought alef/resh was more similar to skykids we play as
Im not saying it to challenge you im curious btw
WAIT OH I REMEMBER in the beginning of this game they were called fallen stars too
Yes they can be called fallen stars, i think artbook even calls them that
Ye i remember i think
So what kind of beast is Resh
