I would like to suggest Tinkering Chimesmith or Light Whisperer as well for the second child. Abundance of bells and wind chimes in the Wind Paths, Chimesmith’s memory shows them setting these up around the islands, and Light Whisperer’s memory shows them caring for an injured bird.

I’d forgotten about the fact that Flight Guide is canonically the Prairie Elder’s apprentice! And wasn’t Flight Guide also the one to found the Wind Paths, or at least the group of Flight Spirits who live and work there? That would be a strong connection to Daylight Prairie!

It’s a long ways back by now, but in the leadup to Flight’s Live release, there were little info blurbs released in #news giving extra information about the Flight Spirits. Flight Guide’s blurb gave us that specific tidbit of information.

Also, while it’s never stated outright, there are implications for the existence of at least one other Elder apprentice. The last quest in the Season of Nesting questline has you visiting the clearing behind the Forest Elder’s temple to collect wood with the Nesting Guide, and in their workshop, there’s a painting of them in said clearing standing next to the Forest Elder.

If you would scroll up a few messages to read what I’m saying, I’ve already stated that there is some kind of connection between the characters.

Nesting Guide is the only Spirit, and the only Season Guide we’ve seen to visit and/or ask us to visit that clearing behind the temple. Plenty of daily and Season quests have us visit the different areas in Hidden Forest, but never the temple or the temple clearing itself.
An Elder who crafts things, and their cutscene shows them building that diamond to power the big golden mechanism in the temple ceiling to open the doors for us.

A Season Guide who can be found in a workshop, and has equipment all over said workshop for building things. Who asks you to go to a place only accessible by first going through the Forest Elder temple and has a large, elaborate painting depicting them in the same place they ask you to visit, and standing alongside the same Elder whose aforementioned temple blocks the way to that clearing.

That way "elder apprentices" can be like a whole category of guide spirits.

Thematically they definitely appeal to the emotional language of Forest's role as representing the life-stage of Teenhood. Assembly was the first at really representing the design language of Forest a whole year into Sky's lifetime, with it's shifty secret tunnels, diverse creative avenues, and curious youth.

The main Theme of Forest's Teenhood, after all, is Feeling Lost, and exploring/finding ourselves and our identity amidst that confusion.

The Wind Paths perfectly represent that feeling of needing to explore, and needing to reach out and Connect to people and emotions that previously felt out of reach.

Geographically, however, the wind paths are far above the very center of the kindom, and surprisingly far from the Hidden Forest! At least from what the map shrine says, which is known to not be perfectly accurate. 🕯️

Theories about Isle Elder's apprenctice are always so interesting to me. The Passage Guide and Prophecy Guide have both been proposed to be the Isle Elder's apprentice by various parties during their respective seasons or primes.

Passage guide seems to be a better fit in the Theme of raising the young to be ready for the world, while Prophecy guide has lore connections to Alef's journey so they may have been directly under Isle Elder's command.

Some have mentioned that the Prophecy guide could have been the Vault Elder's apprentice, based on the Sky art book textblock that says the Vault Elder prophesied the end of the kingdom.

But depending on how Two Ember's presents Alef's journey, I think that Daleth's first apprentice (or just one of their apprentices out of many) could have been Alef.
Since Daleth is older than all the other Elders they could reasonably have had multiple apprentices over the Eras. 🕯️

I also considered that technically Prophecy guide would've learned and taken orders from both Isle and Vault Elders at respective times in their career.
It's definitely best for us not to assume a rigid structure to this, and that one 'apprentice' could've been under multiple Elders, and multiple Elders could've taught the same apprentice.

The flexibility in what you've down so far is definitely reflective of the modern era of Lore 🕯️

My personal interpretation is that it’s supposed to represent how the Spirits, and the characters they’re based on, are ‘chained’ or ‘weighed down’ by their bad habits. The Star Collector is greedy at worst, very foolish at best, and thinks they own the stars in the sky.

Stretching Lamplighter is so dedicated to their job that they refuse to give themselves a chance to rest, and will inevitably end up hurting themselves mentally and physically because of the strain they put on themselves.

The Beckoning Ruler proclaims themselves to be a king, and that “the demands they make of their subjects are very reasonable” (or something along those lines), when those demands and their proclamation of rulership are useless, because there is nobody around for them to even rule or command in the first place.

I was rewatching the trailer, and i noticed the familiar design of stone brooch on the orphan caretaker, and i was right about having seen that somewhere. It's from the air element icon of prophecy trials

We know that in memories of the spirits there, they seems like teaching something to the kids before sending them to the trials? And almost the same thing we saw in the trailer, where the dawn ember holding something (a stone tablets perhaps?) and heading towards somewhere else. This mean that we will see the dawn ember got sent into the trials while watching all of their friends failed on it

not to mention, the defining characteristic of Resh when it comes to trials is theorized to be the fact that he mastered ALL of them while other students seemed to focus and master one element so most likely either the trials themselves aren't the final exam or they were beaten many a time before, just not all by one person

My real question for the Divining Wise Grandparent is that word, divining. I somewhat doubt they actually hang around in orbit guiding kids, so maybe it's an abstract prediction or something, visualized through a spirit memory.

Because another definition of divining is predicting or searching for hidden knowledge (like the future) using omens; practicing divination.

So adding to what you both said, and based on some of Jung's interpretation/concept. I have learned that the practice of divination is defining the future through selection of focus, w focus you can decode images, symbols, environments, each with their own degrees of focus. Thus with the right focus you can become a creator of the fully mental plane, you become a maker of mental plans/planes. This mental plane we access through meditation or higher states of awareness.

Like musical harmonization (cymatics) and psychoactivating molecules (the 4 tones higher geometry of psilocibin, above seratonin).

This can also be well found in oracles reads and tarot cards. They both show the archetypal energy patterns being in action at the moment and how to use them to shape the future, which is like prediction, the precursor to manifestation, no prophecy is ever perfect but they all share the core focus, the main idea manifests itself, like an archetype across ages, cultures. If you wanna really go there, the Seed and the Flower of Life go all across, the Golden Spiral, and so on, coiled spirals/strands and so much more.

Therefore a Divining Wise Grandparent is a traveler of two mental planes, conscious and unconscious. The Realms of Light (Sky Kingdom), and the Void (all the spaces surrounded without a barrier by an endless Void).

I do think that about the butterfly and Zhuan Zhou is such a great reference because it reflects our ability to experience as other creatures like we do in Aurora's concert and through meditation like in Moomin's quests.

The lore is meant to be very unclear and unspecific, so that people can have their own interpretations and try to discover the 'Truth' for themself!
Archiving from a completely observational, completely unbiased perspective is near impossible, because to ask for the Lore community is to get all of the unfiltered, opinionated, agenda-based directives of individuals who are all very different from each other! And it can be frustrating, but I've come to find it as something so beautiful. It's important to let those resources stay where they are; it shows how expansive the lore community's efforts have become!

When people ask about specific topics or questions though, there will always be someone who has an answer, even if it's only their answer/interpretation.

Possibly because the rain is polluted (think like acid rain) but most of the water sources aren’t from a polluted source (polluted—“dark”— waters are more evident in places like Golden Wasteland).
Another possibility is that the rain is very very cold, as there is a theory that there’s a certain temperature at which water/liquids become harmful (the frigid waters of the Water Trial).

Not really. Gates can be protected very well from the inside. You can just put spears through the holes or you can defend by dropping stuff from above the gate. That's how castles usually defended their gates. Putting people outside is a much higher risk at basically no reward

Also you could still have people outside while having the switch to open the gate inside

Theres long hall once you enter through the gate but you cant go check if they have second darkstone somewhere up the stairs to open the hate from inside because there is warp barrier that takes you to wasteland temple

Focusing on Black and White today, I was forced to step back into the deep philosphical conundrums of the Connection Spectrum and the universal machine we know as the Megabird or The Light.

hey guys, i've got an idea for a fanfic and I wanna know if I've got the timeline right, and maybe what I can do with the characters

its set when sky boats are either invented or become available for widespread use; whale whisperer (i'm calling them Marin) is my main character here, and their afraid that this would threaten the safety of whales (used for large cargo prior to this, I could be wrong here I dunno.)
It also involves their romance with blushing prospector, and hide-n-seek pioneer, who's their little sister; she can, indeed, chibi fall, and its feared by everyone as a dark curse, so Marin's whole schtick is having to balance their life out on protecting an entire species and finding a treatment for their sister. I bring this all up cause I wanna know what you think I can do with these characters, be it arcs, storyline, etc. Let me know if you have any further questions, thanks guys!! :D

I am currently falling down a rabbit hole, though. You said something, @dull gale , that rekindled a particular interest I had in Eden. The idea that its conclusion was inevitable. Do you know what the best evidence of that is that I can think of?? The name.

The Garden of Eden in Christianity is known as a place of sacred creation. It's known for supplying waters (life) to all the corners of the world. It was a place of perfection and utopia until the "original sin" was committed, which essentially cursed all of humanity. Only the death and resurrection of Jesus could make up for the sin.

Powerstone is like the forbidden fruit in this example - maybe not even powerstone itself, but the pursuit of it at the expense of the natural balance. Maybe the Eden crystal was the final catalyst. But that act of "sin" cursed the world and its inhabitants, and only the death and resurrection (return from Light as a Spirit) of Hopeful Steward could begin the process of lifting that stain

Hopeful Steward being a Jesus analogue is a bit funny, but I can see it. Although we have to remember that Sky takes inspiration from a lot of different cultures and religions, including but not limited to Christianity

Archiving from a completely observational, completely unbiased perspective is near impossible, because to ask for the Lore community is to get all of the unfiltered, opinionated, agenda-based directives of individuals who are all very different from each other! And it can be frustrating, but I've come to find it as something so beautiful. It's important to let those resources stay where they are; it shows how expansive the lore community's efforts have become!

When people ask about specific topics or questions though, there will always be someone who has an answer, even if it's only their answer/interpretation.

As for what happened to Sky's world, this special living substance called Light took the forms of living beings and traveled the world before returning to the Sky from the very top of Eden, where they would be reborn!

Humanoid beings of Light, who we call "the Ancestors", watched over this Light and shepherded the creatures of Light on their way to Eden.
But the Ruler of the Ancestors realized they could steal the power of the Light for themself, and so they captured creatures and stole their Light using the giant red diamond you see at the end of the Eye of Eden. ♦️
Some of the kingdom didn't like this, and they rebelled. There was an entire war between the rebels and the Ruler's kingdom, and in the end, the red diamond overfilled with Light and Shattered, sending dangerous debris across the kingdom, spreading Darkness everywhere.

500 years after all of the Ancestors had died out, a new type of Being formed from The Light in the Sky, called a Descendant, which you know as skykids! Our purpose is to save the trapped Souls of the Ancestor Spirits, so that their inner Light can be freed and rejoin that Light in the Sky.

fan theories suggest that they mutated into dark dragons afterwards, due to the dark stone exposure

both mantas and krills can be used for war:
(in the following paragraphs, i use he/him pronouns for resh, and they/them pronouns for mantas and krills plural.)

1. the former is used to transport goods and people;
   we see manta carriages in some of the older animated trailers for sky (before two embers)
   in wind paths, some mantas also drag a boat behind them!

the Aurora concert version of Warrior shows mantas getting captured
could be for war, could be for the aforementioned experimentation
but, what we know for sure is that, they were exploited in some way

2. the latter for sheer offense and destructive power;
   in the two embers trailers, krills can take down a whole group of soldiers at once, sending them flying.
   they were definitely more potent in the past then in-game now.
   (some may argue that, they are weak due to game design reasons, in order to be more moth-friendly and less unfair
   but, keep in mind that, the krill-equivalent enemies in Journey (sky's spiritual predecessor) are still much more dangerous than krills in sky)

another good thing to note is that, the krills somehow fought resh's own soldiers
in the latest two embers trailer, the soldiers in past wasteland have resh's symbol on their uniform
if krills are manufactured to be resh's biological superweapons, then they either went rogue or attack indiscriminately

if it's the former, then it'd be interesting to find out what caused them to change like that!
maybe resh's own soldiers rebelled against him, but the krills are fiercely loyal to resh as his defenders?

if it's the latter, then how did resh keep them under his control in the first place?
how did they escape containment? and, had he ever anticipated the krills turning on him and thinning the numbers of his own forces?
the whole point of keeping WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) is to scare people & be able to retaliate in case a war does start
but, what good does it do if you can't control them, and you hurt your own people instead?
(hence the saying, bullets don't have eyes!)
(but, to be fair, resh doesn't have a good track record. 'not hurting his own people' has not been on his to-do list for years.)

A bad but only current example I have being how the developers still say "king" sometimes when they are talking about him, but on the official side of things such as the art book and in terms of Two Ember's character title-ings, that is 'canonically' dubbed the Ruler.

What I'm wondering is if Netease calls certain things anything that may give us stronger hints ot affirmations at Themes. If the Netease developers have said "Original Sin" in livestreams, that may show that underneath the immediate presentation they see it that way as well.

But does it really just say "Stormy Region" when you walk up to Eden's gate in the Netease servers? That's kinda strange 🕯️

I do too! I was really sad to discover for myself we didn't get the entire circular town that was shown in the teaser trailer for the Aviary project wasn't what we got.

What we got ended up reminding me somewhat of Disneyland's "Main Street". Which, if we look at the studies of "Hyperreality" expressed in Otiveletse's research paper (#lore-discussion-spoilers message) does not exactly paint the prettiest picture.
It does align with Sky's already-aligned format of being a 'theme park', though.

As my studies of Connection and the human desire to Control continue, I have further and further doubted that Chen actually prioritizes Connection 'in the ways that matter', as compared to the superficial layering of the Theme Park hyperreality. However, even that is my own definition of 'what matters'. Otivelete's work also shows that hyperreality, within the subjectivity of the Experience, is still someone's reality. We must respect that, for whatever it means, and for whatever I further discover. 🕯️

I like the idea, and I think it makes sense within the rules of Sky’s world. We seem to always be discovering new areas. My personal headcanon is that some Sky Kids simply happened to chance upon the place after getting knocked out of the sky by Eden going kaboom again, (the new intro cutscene for the game showing your Sky Kid crash landing) fell into Aviary, met Steward, spread the word about the place to other Sky Kids, and they begin working with Steward to build the village back up to its former thriving state in the Season quests.

nah i think the back side is just blue and is part of the same fabric panel as the shoulder plate

i know a bit about how clothes are made (cosplayer here) and you could cut the blue fabric as one piece with hole for head while making her tabard

basically the back panel would look like those plastic sticks you make bubbles with and the front side is just straight strip of fabric with slight curve on top side

there propably are some darts around shoulder area to make it fit betetr but thats just minor details

If we really wanted to be so specific, the back piece and neck piece could be sliightly different tints from each other. Even in Luca's drawing here, the neck piece was colored separately and looks slightly darker than the back piece. They're definitely both blue, just maybe different shades at most.
But I agree with Danielle, the lighting in shot one may just be because of lighting or rendering.

I’ve always been so curious on why WE are the children of the light.. I wonder if there are children of the dark? Maybe that’s a really silly question 🥲 I don’t know much - I hope Two Embers solves some lore

In the Eden void, it takes a child of darkness to save a child of light.

You read that right, this is just a hypothesis as I am typing this thought.
A child of light in the void cannot save themselves. And assumingly, another child of light may not make a difference.
A child of darkness is similar because assumingly they cannot ascend either.
How I reach that short conclusion is how the fallen statues are supposedly trapped indefinitely until their other half is found.

This may be tied to other real life philosophy/mythology/theology (religion)
Namely, the balance of Yin and Yang. Light and Darkness must be in harmony of balance to work. One cannot exist without the other.

That taken into account.
Skykids are Children of the Light, nor are they Children of Darkness. They are a neutral being that can tread both worlds.

I wonder if the hug scene starts out without our skykid in a scene. The child of darkness is not our skykid, neither is the child of light. They are the halves that become one and our skykid comes back into existence.

We collect the children of the Light (winged light) and bring them to the fallen. Who I assume would be the children of Darkness becuase they are 'born' in the darkness of Eden. The children sent up there by the ancestors were an unfortunate sacrifice (as part of this hypothesis, this is not confirmed!)

As dark as it sounds, this is also a reference to a controversial theory from a while back. So approach this dark lore with caution.

The void or the darkness may not be the problem in Sky. It may more so be the corruption of the darkness.
Hence the persistent call to cleanse the darkness, not destroy it.

This is a bit heavy lore, so newer members may need to look more into Eden, Darkness and Corruption theories for this.
