yeah, it's just that it feels like opening a gift
on one hand you feel excited to see what will be inside
on the other you fear what disappointment it can bring
but i guess the mature thing would be to take it for what it will be, to accept reality
Yep, that’s life! It’s alright to be excited and anxious, too, though. This has been in the works for years, there’s a lot of expectations riding on it. But we’re not gonna know until it comes out, so we just have to be patient and cross our fingers.

yeah, i too wholeheartedly think that he was a rather bad figure in the final years
he "grew up" so to say, he committed to a choice that in the end would result in bad things
no matter the motivations, the wider context or whatever else, his actions (and inactions) were what finally led to the end
oh, and i guess one final theory for the day
what if The Shard was meant to be a brush that would paint.. something, it is eerily similiar to the Light Projectors after all
Hmmm, that makes sense then. Thank you!
Hi, can you make tl;dr of this please?
Not meant in ignorant way, its just too much text process plus its 2 am
Well,I said one of the factors, not main factor
It is clear that the reason behind extinction is not that simple, and yeah, like water level rising, there must be cloud level rising
Since the Vault Elder is shown in Two Embers, would Wasteland Elder also show up?
I hope so too. Especially, when the war is raging on. There's no way tsadi/wasteland elder would not be there
unrelated but my cat just sniffed the lore chat as i was reding trough it
Now I'm imagining Resh as a moustache twirling star headed villain
like the that poppy the performer character but a star
i wish there was a way i could actually know the lore 😭 it just seems like too much but i love what i know
The lore is indeed quite intense to dig into. Below are many various resources, and if you'd like to just get a summary, there are some great ones in the first link! Hope this helps.
🕯️
LINKS:
The lore is meant to be very unclear and unspecific, so that people can have their own interpretations and try to discover the 'Truth' for themself!
Archiving from a completely observational, completely unbiased perspective is near impossible, because to ask for the Lore community is to get all of the unfiltered, opinionated, agenda-based directives of individuals who are all very different from each other! And it can be frustrating, but I've come to find it as something so beautiful. It's important to let those resources stay where they are; it shows how expansive the lore community's efforts have become!
When people ask about specific topics or questions though, there will always be someone who has an answer, even if it's only their answer/interpretation.
Here's a collection of great summaries made by varying theorists, to hopefully not explode your brain too much:
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
And here's an extensive list of many crucial informative resources, for when you're ready to dig really deep:
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
thank you!!!
is it ever implied what the skykids are/how they're able to reincarnate infinitely? the way i see it is that theyre literally light from the stars (and energy can never be created or destroyed) but im probably wrong
also what are the winged lights supposed to be? if the light that you hug after eden is a remnant of the king then perhaps the winged lights are also that
idk im yapping
They could also be the fallen stars or meteorites
ooh
What you hug after eden is the light next skykid passing shared with you
somewhere up there was mentioned that the person in the wl is close to skykids but we don't really know who's that
love to think that that's remnants of Alef but that would raise questions about the wl we have in the new game beginning ||(all 15 flaps ohhh that's a lot of spirits
)||
but uh yeah
who knows ¯_(ツ)_/¯
You’re more or less correct!
Skykids are beings of Light, part of the Cycle, like everything and everyone before. Because we’re born of the Light (one little star in an infinite sea), we have the ability to rejoin it. Our purpose is to clear the Darkness in the Kingdom of Sky, to heal the damage done. So we keep coming back. :))
'beings' what happened to creatures?
Oh shoot, I forgot to hit reply on the message I was answering to
Technically speaking, yes, they are creatures, too.
Love feeling included
TGC said that! Based on the last year skyfest trailer it might very much be stewie
Im really curious if stewie gets model upgrade after dusk ember season
From spirit to living being just like elders if they really are creature of light just like us, thus cant really die
Maybe they are spirit for now to avoid spoilers
That's why we should collect all wl
no Stewie left behind
the way Tsadi is turning around lmao
“Oh hey, you are here too?”
And it kinda looks like he's looking at Teth who's holding her hammer ready to bonk
Shes considering if to bonk the twins or enemies first
– "But there's no 'enemy' png?"
– "Suppose I don't have a choice."
or something like that
Shes gonna bonk them back to jpeg do you get it cuz when you flatten the image-
"Beings" is a term some of use as an attempt to categorize all living things under one word
🕯️
Great questions! You're looking into diverse Themes of:
- *fluid entities comprised of energy
- reincarnation
- energy transfer
- constellations
- purpose*
Which is all completely in the right direction!
The developers have often said in both interviews and concept presentations that when they first began to create Sky, they wanted to establish this feeling of Souls moving as glowing energy soaring through clouds. These souls would be destroyed in a storm, shoot up into space somehow, and fall back into the world, freshly reset.
But we see many more Beings head towards the mountain than just us, so is it really just only the skychildren being reborn?
From the very beginning, TGC had wanted Sky to be a visual expression of this Cycle of Souls.
All Souls of all Beings would move in a cyclic motion, journeying to the Holy Site in order to return to the Sky, where they would be reborn and sent back into the world.
Skykids certainly are special, but it's important to our studies that we remember that we are a part of the Cycle too.
This Cycle of life, death, ascension, and rebirth, are all intrinsic to this world.
And all of this translates quite nicely into the modern Framework of Sky known as "the Light Cycle"!
You can learn more about the design stages that the Soul Cycle went through while Sky wad still being developed, and see some inportant concept art that really helps visualize the Cycle here

Hooe this helps! ❤️ 🕯️
going on orbit run, anyone wants snaps of anything?
Could you keep an eye out for stars in the background during ascension into The Light? Like normal twinkling stars

can you specify what exactly you mean?
im about to enter pnr so might not answer for a while
Who wanna be friend with me?
Hi! This is lore channel
we discuss lore here
if you are looking for friends, #looking-for-group-live is great spot for that!
I don't know if there's a lore answer to this but why do we learn expressions from the dead
Someone know wheres the path of the winds ?
because when you are born with no experience you don't really know how to express yourself
at least that's the variation i heard
Hi again! This is LORE related channel. We answer only LORE related stuff here. Please refer to other channels with your questions, this one of yours for example belongs to #questions-and-help
also whats with every new member automatically writing to lore channel anyway?
Idk why should we talk in another chanel bro we're lazy
Wait- this FEELS familiar. Was this thing an old intro for sky? (Assembly moth here!)
its in old home!
I KNEW it!
what is this?
murals at home, very annoying to get to
It was what we old players saw when we first played sky... (Imitating a grandpa spirit) You youngins wouldn't know how much of a savior the home trick was to us moths... That was a luxury in Eden we no longer have, of course.
i think the same mural is in aviary... like there for sure IS mural but im not sure if it looks the same as this one
Oh yes thanks
Is there any summary of lore I can read here or should I go on wiki
"other beings" you clearly stated "soul" ,which includes spirit of every living being as well. That place is like heaven,or constellation, with the myth of "dead people turn into stars" concept. The proof is , they lend their energy when you satisfy or be more close (ascended nodes, the name itself speaks). So yeah, technically, all living beings can reach the "Orbit",the junction where the lives thrive and sent to realms
This all,my interpretation, and I'm open to any other perspectives and opinions/objections,if you may
Sky lore is HUGE, is there something particular you are interest in? You can also search in this channel (just add in: lore-discussion-spoilers behind your search), lot of stuff was already discussed here before, including “in nutshell” summaries
feel free to ask if you wont find your answer though!
I also did an Eden photoshoot a while back! I can’t remember if I put them in here, or in #screenshots-and-videos though.
mmm i can check my older post here hold on
hmm it looks like it was always like this, or atleast month ago co its not something they added in recent patch #lore-discussion-spoilers message
I just wanted a start up to explain it to my boyfriend who is also a Sky fan!
Yeah, I think a lot of specific bits of the architecture in Eden have been like that for a while, it’s just that either it is way too dark to see it, or you’re busy trying not to get pelted with rocks or get Krilled. Thank goodness for the brightness setting on the Moments cameras, it’s been instrumental in actually seeing what the heck is going on.
Megabird - the many souls rejoice in one big mass of light slowly drifting sometimes is considered the sun
timeline-ish
Something something civilization
something something here have elders
Elders come from light like us modern skykids
Some time passes there's a prophecy in the prophecy cave that someone collects 4 lighs and gives them to some elders
some time later Alef dropped, gets found by some people heading to the isle of dawn and then he becomes an orphan
somehow stars align to him going to trials
he passes
the chosen one is to be future ruler blah blah
whatever happens in two embers part 2
like being shipped to Eye of Eden
and also he found rocks we call darkstone today basically batteries
you mine the rock itself and take energy (light) from somewhere, specifically light creatures
pollution
corruption
public unrest
war
and TTE p1 is happening somewhere along these
also uh S T E W I E
then shattering
and everyone dies
and here we are
Explain this then #lore-discussion-spoilers message explain how you think the bell tower is just a Easter egg and not L O R E for the moomin void quests being the prologue of sky?
Thank youuuuuuu
because there are couple of other easter eggs like this in game...
I’m still not convinced
well i wont help you with that buddy
I’m pretty sure that the Moomin void quests are just supposed to be like, an embellished, metaphor-filled retelling of Ninny’s life before Too-Ticky found her and brought her to the Moomin family. Like, she lived in a rundown house, had a fascination with butterflies, (the player butterfly and the butterflies around her in her mural in the collab Season room) her guardian was physically abusive and would throw things at her (the giant jars that get thrown in your direction in the climbing section). She tried to run away at least once, but her guardian found and caught her and took her back. The section where we’re stranded on the cliff with Krill in the waters below explaining/representing why Ninny is afraid of the sea. And the scene with the mirror, gaining a cape, taking flight, etc. is her finding the courage to try to leave again.
Then why is the aviary bell tower in the last void quest’s cloud scenery?
There has to be some lore behind the moomin void quests
moomins were collab so theres not...
I agree that it’s possible to extrapolate lore about the greater world of Sky from collab Seasons, but the Seasons being actual, literal events that canonically occurred in-universe is questionable.
Even the way that the Moomin questline is presented makes it seem obvious that it’s meant to be taken as an in-universe fictional story. The Moomin Season Guide is a storybook. We are experiencing a story.
(also im kinda not a fan of the tone you are talking in to me, im not arguing with you in any way, no one here really is)
Sorry about that 😅 (the tone of speech)
this is how i imagine Lameds powerpoint presentation of Alefs life to stewie
I'm honored
LMAO NOT THE POWERPOINT
it's like
an even bigger paralell with the journey of skids
also give him the list of Elder names
Okayyyy
Literally what I’ve been typing about lolllll we’re on the same page
also the whole sky world is on one huge map divided to subareas and those subareas are also one whole map (one realm = one subarea) divided by.... whats the thingaling... load barrier? maybe the sole reason aviary bell tower is there i because you can see it in the portal in the void
or maybe it is the same case as that one game that has... i believe it was potato picture? that when it gets deleted, the whole game stops working
The Collab Seasons aren’t really canon to the story of Sky— with the exception of the AURORA collab (TLP collab as well maybe, but that’s up for debate)— but we can draw parallels from their stories and theming to the greater story of Sky!
For example, in the Season of the Nine-Colored Deer we see a kingdom capture a creature of light for its own benefit. We also see that when this kingdom’s respect for the Light was gone, Darkness— krills and all— swept over the kingdom.
While not being canon to Sky, we can still pull important themes and similar events from these seasons. The Season of Moomin has themes of escaping/healing from the Darkness, of discovering oneself, of Connection— all themes we see in Sky. ^v^
TF2s load-bearing coconut!

yes! that one! also thank you for explaining the collab stuff more, i always get brain.exe stopped working when i have to explain something in english lol
Not a problem at all! ^v^
i feel like prince is atleast half canon because his story in sky kingdom is original and it is also not disturbing Exupéry's story at all and even goes hand to hand with it as prince travels from world to world after all
aurora is special case, not only her songs all (well maybe except Queendom) of her songs portray canon lore but she also sings light beyond (orbit song) and constellation (credits) and is portrayed outside colliseum (harmony hall) and seemingly as a goddess/megabird avatar in her own concert
moomins suffered because of honk copyright stuff
But that’s the thing it’s a full 3D model of the bell tower they even made it cast a shadow onto the clouds
yes thats actually how reflections and simmilar things you see work, it is not flat picture but fully 3D model, for example in pokemon XY, the reflection you see of yourself in your room is actually copy of your avatar model moving along with you
Yeah, that’s a good explanation for that one.
The AURORA storyline deals directly with the world of Sky and the events of what happened in some of its Realms.
even water reflections in games are copies of what you see in your surroundings
Where are the bells in the belfries?
But from what I have seen the shadows of objects or terrain is hand made so the game runs smoothly and quickly not actual shadows from lighting
you cant see the bells in the portal to aviary so they are not there either (the portal to home displays the copy of islands nearby in old home)
The bells are their own unique model not part of the bell tower itself
im affraid i dont udnerstand what you mean (english is my second language) but if it is the thing you circled, thats shadow from the nearby cloud
I would get another picture but I don’t want to spend another 4 minutes of flying
yes, thats shadows from nearby clouds and the tower combined, they are semi transparent, kinda like fog in forest and wasteland
Nvm I do have another picture
thats shadow of top of the tower projecting on that cloud, the light source is located above the skybox
the fact it changes from night to day also plays to the fact it is very likely the same belltower you see in portal back to aviary
im no expert in game designs but i do lot of oob not only in sky so i learn from observations
Do we see the bell tower used literally anywhere in the actual Moomin storyline? Because the fact that you had to fly that far to find the tower and that it’s not anywhere remotely near the actual area feels to me like an indication it’s not actually connected to the Season of Moomin.
no we dont but there is giant tophat in moominvalley
that we also dont see in story but it is there lol
That makes more sense to me, though, because MoominPapa wears a tophat, right?
If the bell tower was actually an integral part of the Moomin story, it would be much closer to, or even in the Moomin area.
yes he does but this hat is like massive, it is almost as big as the nest building in aviary
HA! That’s delightful!

i guess it is just another easter egg like that 500 winged lights gate under aviary
another simmilar example to the belltower in moomin valley are lone eden gates in each realm, those appear in cutscene after you meet each elder for the first time where you see the little animation of mask of the elder you just met lighting up on the gate
But the portal texture is a atlas this one is outdated but the one on the middle bottom is the aviary one which is just a picture of the aviary village
all the "event assets" (i dont know the proper name for it) are stored somewhere (usually under) in the same map that event takes place, this is in every game, not only in sky, again (and sorry for talking about it this much but this is game where im the most knowledgeable about this in) > when a pokemon evolves in 3D games (XY onward) the model of pokemon it evolved into is stored off screen, behind the background texture and then gets swapped with old one during the bright light phase, same goes for characters that are yet to appear on screen or just left the screen
if you noticed crabs appearing on surface in realms past few weeks, those are the same crabs that appear during shard eruptions, they are stored under the map but I guess something changed in the code that made them accidentally appear on surface instead of under, same goes for the fish and crab that appear in aviary pond when you use lvl 1 (for fish) or lvl 3 (for crab) levitating adept emote, they are stored right under the bottom of the pond and then get pulled out as you use the emote
and im cuitting the convo here because this goes to territory of things that are not suppsoed to be discussed here on this server
Wow, lots of new faces suddenly as I went to sleep!

You'd be very surprised just how much lore there is in Sky.
The lore is meant to be very unclear and unspecific, so that people can have their own interpretations and try to discover the 'Truth' for themself! However, we know quite a lot from what context clues we've dug up and studied.
Here's a full essay on the king by the fanatic Nekovo.
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
And if that's too long here's a good simple summary of Sky by Void of Shattering.
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Hope this helps!
🕯️
hi tomte! did you have good sleep?
TYSMMMM EVERYONE IS SO SWEET IN THERE
There’s no bell tower, but there is the lighthouse out on the water, in the sequence where you come to the sea cliff and there are a bunch of Krills in the water below.
this is on top of it, deal with this however you want
wodner if we gonna see this building in two embers
it also has tall turret like temple has but i did not see any cannon on it
Yeah!!!! Those stars!!! Thank you so much
🕯️
"They lend their energy when we feel close to each other"
That's exactly the idea! The heavy Themes of Constellations all culminate within the grand Theme of the Megabird; the sea of souls
🕯️
it has a very pretty gem drawing on it
Hi all! I was just thinking today - do you think the little meter that appears when submerged is for oxygen, or something else? Has it been confirmed if skykids need oxygen or not? The thought arose from wondering why your light begins to deplete once the meter has run out. An alternative I first thought might be plausible was something akin to body temperature, but then again, there seems to be no issue in a cold environment such as Valley. As the amount light seems to somewhat correlate with the life force of a skykid, perhaps that would naturally begin to deplete when something presumably essential like oxygen has completely run out. Just some thoughts here ^^
It is oxygen meter, both abyss guide masks give you estra 15 seconds of air
The oxygen mask is considered a favorite of mine. I didn't get the ultimate mask but still
the sweet embrace of the land or in this case water shall eat away at you
just throw your worries away, you need not fret
just let it all go, you've done enough
it's time to rest sweet child, hear the lullaby of the waves, the sleepy calls of the fish, the comforting light of the sun passing through the water
sleep endlessly among the rest, you shall dream evermore alongside the others of the lands you've never seen, people you've never met and food you've never tasted
just let go, do you really need to go back up there?
to candle run forever? to never be contempt with what you have?
is it really worth it?
source: sky wiki
Ooh that's an iconic topic.
Here's some of my thoughts on it from the past:
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
I know some theorists also consider the idea that the Light can only protect the Flame for so long before the Flame begins to be put out by being underwater, and that the blue meter would hypothetically reflect that protection.
🕯️
You're right; I'd rather be underwater
🕯️
fire needs oxygen to exist
Keep in mind Luca, that is a fan wiki. However, all potential evidence is potential evidence nonetheless!
Which is precisely why, as with many of the topics we all face together, hybrid theories are the best approach

My point was that the oxygen meter still works even for your fire theory because lack of oxygen makes the fire go away as it essentially has nothing to “feed on”. There are species of bugs and spiders that create air bubble for themselves to survive underwater for prolonged time. Simmilar thing can be happening for skids flame core, they make air bubble around it each time they go underwater and once their flame consumes all oxygen, they start to drown
So it is still oxygen (bubble) meter
Not arguing in any way, just presenting my point of view
Sorry if i sounded rude
Ohh, personally, I really like this take on it
something that I forgot to mention that also confused me was how picking up light/wax underwater refills the meter. But maybe it sort of feeds the flame when absorbed, helping it last longer. Or perhaps the blue underwater light/wax has that oxygen bubble around it too, which when absorbed also refills a skykid's bubble
Thank you for your thoughts as well!
Like Luca also said, I think what you said about the protection of the flame works also with their oxygen theory, and to me personally those theories sound quite plausible
Well,as for me guys,I lack some more sophisticated information that you guys have rn,and also,in my perspective, I'd like to hear the objections of others, and the proof or other evidences that strengthen the statement
Because,I'm a lore lover, and I always love to dive deep down into lores. Also, I have took a liking in drawing and like to draw the story of Sky,an exquisite art of gaming culture
Yep! Love the bug analogy

For sure! You can also do your own research and see concept art if you'd like, because the concept art for this game is beautiful.

guys can we talk about next seasons predicitoons heere
Predictions yes, leaks and beta content no
A lot of people think it will be about Two Embers, what do you think?
YESSS ME TOO
thats what i wanted to talk about like i wonderrrrr like what the theme is since they aaid in one of their livestreams that it will have two seasons
because like i think it will be a dark theme and the 2nd season will be a light theme since the two kids are named dawn and dusk if im not mistaken or something
i hope they add spiders
and i just love making predictions so i wanted to talka bout it
Yes! The first season of the show will be surprisingly be about the Dusk Ember, the one with long hair and a manatee. Their story seems to take place at the end of the kingdom's lifetime...
Which tracks because, the way I see it, the Dawn Ember is from the start of the Kingdom, or at least from when the Kingdom was young, and the Dusk Ember is from the end of the Kingdom, or at least when it was quite old and beginning to fall!
I mean, dawn is symbolic of beginnings and dusk is symbolic of endings. Embers are much smaller parts of a larger fire and can spark huge conflagrations.
I think in each case, each Ember is there as a catalyst for a new era of Sky:
One Ember ushers in an era of prosperity for the greater Kingdom.
One Ember ushers in an era of hope amidst the destruction of the Kingdom.

I was thinking about The Seed quest in both the Season and the Concert from Aurora. First, the Seed of Hope is helping his friends find a safe place as the war goes on and probably gets injured during the process.
During the Concert, we see a section of the war of everyone, including Mantas getting killed from each other (except for the Mantas who were getting killed from the soldiers) and from the fallen stars coming down 😭 Apparently, I'm guessing there is no winner and pretty much after the war, everyone starts dying, maybe including the King? Honestly I'm not sure if he either died during the war or after. OR in my personal opinion, he was badly injured and is probably currently in hiding. I might not be right about the King but still
Its 4 am so im not processing if it was mentioned but i like to remind that this powerful quote from website sets whole theme of dusk ember part
We are also overdue for the next season logo teaser, tgc is cooking something with it
I like the idea the logos for both seasons will be like “friendship pendant” fitting into each other but i would also absolutely love manatee shaped pendant 😭😭😭
Random thought - There might also be hidden meaning in stewies name, are they steward for aviary village or for the megabird?
are they looking after whole village (which seems to be self sustainable mind you) or after us, the new generation, making sure we are safe?
Google is also offering interesting stuff in additional questions to the steward meaning
But its also 5 am so those can mean literally nothing and im just talking honk
Would Aviary be a safe haven and/or a refuge during or the aftermath of the war?
Seems likely!
I'm not sure about that, Hopeful Steward might get an upgrade through quests or something but we've never had the same entity be a seasonal guide for two different seasons
Here's a really, really quick summary
- There was a past civilization of Ancestors
- The civilization slowly declined from the darkness
- A massive event known as the Shattering trapped everyone and turned them into spirits
- Skykids are sent down to help restore the spirits
I don't really want to learn too much about the lore because I want to make my own interpretation, but I am curious about a couple things
for one thing, what do we know about darkstone?
The Basics:
- Darkstone can hold and store light, like a battery.
- Darkstone, when activated, acts as a power source.
- Ancestors used darkstone to power different aspects of their lives (we see it the most with boats and doors).
- We theorize that the Ancestors used/harvested light from the light creatures to power their darkstones.
- Some evidence also suggests perhaps the massive Crystal in the Eye of Eden is a massive piece of darkstone.
Hopefully this and the links (and their surrounding conversations) are useful!
oo interesting
reading through all the links now
maybe the Shattering was something like a nuclear criticality incident, where overloading the crystal caused it to trigger some unstoppable chain reaction
About the last point, its not directly related but yesterday I had some wl left at the end so i kept walking towards the crystal and got pretty close and it is shattered the same way as the crystal in krill and elder shattering memory is. Im not sure how much it ended up visible on screenshots (i will check) with all the shards flying around though
Darkstones in forest (mostly noticeable in the dark wl room in caves) glow very faint blue even when not activated. Valley darkstones seems to be less energy drained as their light is noticeable even in bright valley light before activation
The darkstones are also almost absent until you arrive into forest and gradually appear more and more often as you get closer to eden through the maps
Forest caves (as seen in both concert and spirit memory versions of Soft Inside) were rich for darkstone, it being scattered all around the walls. Tearful Miner memory has them being trapped in small cave during mining of something, possibly darkstone as well
All Soft Inside screenshots of the raw darkstones > #lore-discussion-spoilers message
I hadn’t noticed the brightness difference in the crystals before, I’ll be paying closer attention to that the next time I’m in those realms! ^v^
I will hopefully soon get back to architecture series, been busy farming for spirit group the whole time
Prairie should be done fast, there isnt that much of architecture, simmilar to isle
Absolutely fair! These ts groups are leaving me perpetually broke ahah
Then i can finally make forest
Hey so I found this link on twitter and I think yall might be interested as well > https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nSKhrpnzW95SOx4-x4fB924IbS9Swiah011-f_pqHgw/mobilebasic
the twitter post is in japanese but if I understand the translation correctly, author of this is mochidaifuku
ooh, quite interesting
I can definitely see prayers being written on those
hello lore chat
thinking too much about sky cuisine again, what do you think the ancestors in isle of dawn ate?
fish, fish everywhere
i was thinking that, but looking at the pre-skykid/corruption era, you cant actually see any kind of water in isle, moreso forest and grasslands
perhaps something like vegetables and farmers were more prominent in this era?
damn no fish
but yay pastors
this is meant to be a joke but we DO see people of forgotten ark doing agriculture (i have no idea how to spell it)
Yummy yum yum wasteland water fishies
Maybe they did and thats why the shrimp want revenge now
/j
:00
spinach needs to be canon
Oh i know Tsadi would be mass consumer of spinach alright
There is corn because based on last patch notes we are getting popcorn prop
need to start thinking about elder fave veggies hcs
This reminded me of that one fanart of Teth having mental breakdown because she dropped her instant ramen cup
Ok im rewatching the wind paths cutscenes and I completely forgot there are sunbather with thrillseeker just casually visiting the wind paths at the end
Whoa....
guys which one is sah and which one is mekh
i keep forgetting
Mekh is the better one with dora hair
And Sah is Sa(h)suke
Eeeh thats a stretch imo
I see only the edge that might be literally anythibg than nail, i dont see the nailbed you outlined at all
Agreed. And you’d think you’d see signs on the other fingers, too.
(The subsurface scattering is quite lovely, though!)
I just tried and i think I'm seeing things
not enough sleep i suppose
and my slowmode time behaves however it wants
Thats what the wasteland fishies do to you
woah
correlates to the water being alcohol
if I'm using the word right
Poor Resh, cant get her manicure done 💅✨
Nails have a pretty prominent outline irl, I don’t think they’d spend a lot of time modeling and rendering that out if it wasn’t necessary. Plus, Ancestors are humanoid not human. We can draw similarities between us and them, but at the end of the day, we’re not the same, they’re not us (especially not in physical make-up).
Oh no i hear thunders i think she got angry that I said it out loud, sorry your majesty!
Wait speaking of the makeup she cant wear any lipstick either because skids have no mouth, no wonders she hates everything and everyone
At least in the Little Prince storylines we see with the Slouching Soldier. Not sure about the rest of the world of Sky, but I don’t think we see any other instances of a liquid being an alcohol stand-in.
No nails, no lips, propably no hair later in life either…
no dresses allowed
Poor girl
girl was in hell before she done anything wrong
“Since Im here I will make it like it should be… FOR EVERYONE”
Well, this is curious to think about now. What did the Ancestors consider “makeup”? What did they use to amplify aspects of themselves considered attractive?
And what did they even consider to be “attractive” traits, especially physically?
✨ equality ✨
we have aurora spirits but i assume they wore makeup after they died
They propably decorated their masks with paint and stones or something, just look at performance guide, he went from the same mask as his twin to fancy penguin mask later in life
Aurora spirits do not have masks, they only have facepaint
i didn't say anything about masks but uuhhh ye
Otherwise I dont think they even had concept of attractive, atleast we didnt see it in game yet. There was costumed confetti cousin quest but that one was about overall looks and mostly clothes rather than faces
Can you elaborate what you meant by ‘after they died’? My understanding of the Ancestors’ appearances is that they look the same as they did in life. So if we see paints or makeups on them in their current states, wouldn’t that also mean that’s what they looked like in life as well?
i look at cannoneer and understand the attractive, heck yeah strong girls
cannoneer is your average punk lesbian who has pink wearing girly gf
Right. And that one quest also felt more like a metaphor for pretending to be another person as opposed to being oneself. Also the fact that clothes are often used more as a status symbol than makeup anyway.
I think that’s a fair point, regardless!
spirits can dress up
… yeah, but we see the AURORA spirits with the same face paint in their memories, do we not?
Cro dont be confused, cannoneer is stated to be female in season of abyss concept art
the punk+girly gf is just headcanon (and Im biased cuz i saw couple of cute fanarts of cannoneer and angler)
be not confused
Accept the gays
OH okay, that makes more sense, I was thinking of the pink-wearing spirit from Triumph LOL
See? I hear thunder as I send it, our majesty queen resh agrees
I mean, anything goes i guess
Thanks for elaborating!
Theres one fanart of cannoneer and angler in strawberry button shirts, cannoneer has black version and angler has pink version and it is so cute
I’m gonna pop in-game real-quick to check the AURORA memories for my own sake because I was so confident abt the faces, so I’ll be back in a bit.
Make sure to relive warrior during blue bird quest, it is whole new experience
no facepaint in blue bird quest either
goofy goggles tho
🥽
he looks like a bug
look me in the eyes
also the blue bird quest with hairtousle teen prequels what happens in warrior because warrior of love has no cape and it is his friend (bowing medalist i think?) who has that cape on (he later gives it to warrior after injury from falling off a manta)
i still get bowing medalist and backflipping champion mixed up because they look so simmilar
this guy
Just say warrior's man
bro's hitting that boogie
he is such a soft american snack next to the others in the blue bird quest, hes even smaller than hairtousle teen, someone give him some milk, boy needs calcium to grow!
hc bomb Tsadi is vegan
somehow
he just looks so funny next to the others, like sir why u so small
he also has whole different clothes than in aurora concert (not sure if others are the same case)
(regarding to what i said earlier today)
barely visible over all that clutter but if you get close enough you can see the cracks
i was standing almost literally next to it before mi wings hit 0
WOAH!
The size of the dang thing never ceases to amaze me
“soft american snack” as a description for someone was NOT on my bingo card for today—
it did not let me put the fruity boy word there 😭
😆 Best description ever!
... Now that you said it, maybe that´s why they (Warrior of Love) managed to win the manta race, since they´re basically a small jockey on a horse manta.
oh to be soft american snack flying on giant white pancake

see, even skybot agrees

I'm guessing that's the Warrior of Love before she was chosen as Aurora's spirit. And probably before she helped her friend in one of the Aurora's seasonal quests?
is every spirit she in your eyes? just curious
Not every spirit 😅 not just that but some spirits I see as male also. I know the spirits and our Sky Kids are considered to have no gender but I like to guess
cuz so far i only saw you calling every spirit a she, even those masculine/very nonbinary looking, taks why i got curious
Honestly, I like to see Warrior of Love as "he", but well, so is Fainting Warrior. 🤭 While somehow, I always accidentally say "he" to Angler even if I do know they have that long braid.
Probably because my brother likes to have long hair and seeing all the rockstars with them.
i call teth and lamed she cuz they have some... assets
on their models
but there was a time when i saw teth as a dude (change of mind has nothing to do with me looking at her model in more detail)
... Same, especially after the entire "Forest Mama" moniker.
Besides, Teth/Forest Elder having that hammer and being super-crafty is mega-dope as well. :D
Teth boymom ✨
I'm kinda confusing myself for Hopeful Stewart in game and in Two Embers
I consider Stewart as a "she" In two Embers and consider them as "he" in game. I'm trying to decide what to permanently go for haha
strong women
teth and cannoneer will be my end one day
Yes, exactly spectra
Cannoneer is definitely "he" to my brain.
Abyss Guide is generally being a "she".
cannoneer is however stated as female spirit in concept art
Thus "to my brain", probably because of that evil laugh.
Even though it would be both awesome and kind of funny if Ceasing Commodore´s crew is composed entirely of very crafty tomboys. :D
I see Cannoneer as a she. Same with Anxious Angler and the Abyss Guide
Sorry to derail the whole chat, people!
You're good!
It's nice to have our own guesses
Oh no kidding; yes, spirits are genderless aside very few exceptions, but it´s fun to have our minds guess what gender they might be. :D
i would love to continue in this convo but im crocheting rn and it will soon start to get dark and i wanna finish that piece today 😭
They might not have any gender whatsoever
My Sky Kid is a she.
Exactly, thus it´s up to our brains to get this going.
But yeah, to my brain, Cannoneer is a he, Abyss Guide is a she and Anxious Angler is ... "I can´t process this information." 🤣
I see Cannoneer as a sibling figure for me.
Honestly because I know we have siblings that become competitive to us 😆
I got several different Skykids and well, one of them made a cameo in quite a few screenshots nowadays. 🤭
My sky kid is a fabulous queen
But well, that´s something for dms, not a lore chat. 😅
I see Seed of Hope as a father figure because he helped his friends while struggling to survive from the enemy (probably the King's side) and the Krills
Oh. I thought the word they used was ‘feminine’? Doesn’t necessarily mean female. (my memory is just absolutely going to the krills today, so I could be quite wrong, as evidenced by the AURORA quests)
(Sorry for the ping/at I didn’t see the crochet message before I hit send 😅💀)
no, it is written as "female spirit"
Well, honk me ig. Think I need to get my brain checked.
Got it
beta cannoneer
Ig my two cents on the whole thing is that I always saw Cannoneer as they/he, Abyss Guide as she/her, Angler as he/she, and Commodore as he/him.
i see neer as genderfluid
What are these? Beta designs?
Concept arts from NetEase (chinese version of sky, they get the same seasons but different events)
They look sick. Sad they went unused.
who keeps pinging me and then deleting the message
I'll probably look closely at the lore during the Concert coming up. That way I'll find anything I have missed
If we're/were talking gender i drop my transfem Lamed hc and run
i got two pings from this channel and nothing was there
the messages might have gotten eaten by the Skybot
but no one posted after that ping either
you're right in more than one way
I could be wrong but would Aviary come to be in Two Embers or uncertain?
probably would
but we don't know
my guess is at the very end/in after credits scene
from storytelling perspective if they wont decide to give aviary bigger role than it has, i dont see a point of it being included in the main story at all
it would be such a huge jump away from all the things we saw in the trailer so far
The world of Sky is so big now that some things are naturally gonna be left out

Mlp colleb
BOOOOOOO
In-game screenings 😭
FIRST EPISODE NAME

phew im finally done
Someone told me you can turn off other players in the cinema but didnt tell me how
Or at least a crude Chinese translation of it
I can use my Chinese app to translate the individual words
When I translate, I don't see anything about twilight. Instead it translates to "Two Stars"
https://sky.163.com/m/news/official/20250520/26689_1235535.html
Here's my source
why does china always get such cute events 😭
This probably will be in global as well!
also i translated it from chinese to my mother language and it also says Symphony of thee stars so its likely really name of the first ep
PLEASE 😭 that would make me buy the wireframe cape right away
Wait wireframe cape?
yeah, patch notes say it will be available again
HOLD ON
WHAT DO YOU MEAN PERSONALLY EXPERIENCE

TWO TISMS SEASON COMING,???
Translated the words under the series title (Sky: Two Stars)
Dusk Star Chapter
Idk Chinese (I know basics so I can use the app to help with translations) but I can try translating the article word by word? Idk if it will reveal anything
i have perished from diabetes after seeing this image
this was done automatically by the Discord fatality bot
It translates it either to binary star or twin star for me
Yes! I think it probably correlates with the English title "Two Embers"
I am shaking honestly
also we finally have clear shot of eden before shattering thanks to this poster
If I remember right (it's been a while) it looks similar-ish to the Eden we can see from valley stadium oob?
and i was right the buildings were fully painted and it is not some ornaments but indeed remmants of paint
how am i suppsoed to go sleep soon after this aaaa
stewie
if anything bad happens to our current stewie during ember season i will personally go cause second shattering
I’ll tag along! While I’m all for a dramatic story, I would not be okay if something happened to Hope during the next seasons. Nobody hurts our Hope. :((
we gonna be two droplets of water as opposite of two embers
🎶 PAINTED BUILDINGSSSSS PAAAAINTED BUILDIIIIIINGS!!🎶
Honestly, fair. Absolutely adorable in every sense of the word!
im honestly surprised that besides birds and one fish with one crab (only on certain days
) there are no other light creatures living in aviary
theres manta that appears during fireworks show, possibly arriving from wind paths and thats about it
we need trees and light creatures in aviary
give me aviary manatees and i will stop yelling, they can hang out with blushing prospector near the nests
I’d actually be really excited for there to be more wildlife in Aviary besides the birds and butterflies. Maybe a small family of manatees. Heck, I’d settle for Nightbirds. Just something a little bigger, y’know?
Title for this passage, rough translation
Jiao can also be a variant of another word Jiao, which means a tumble or fall
also did stewie in TTE always have the line on their mask?
also why does it look like they have the darkstone ilness too? on the tip of their fingers and around elbow
could also be just effect from the particles flying around
I think we can rest assured those are just particles (I don’t want the bby to be sick :(( )
but the baby manatee is sick
Two stars may make more sense. I will get a professional to help on the matter in a few days if nobody else does
🕯️
Is that a new trailer???
This is technically beta spoilers I bet, but unless Ktjin themself walks in here and tells us no, this is just publically available Chinese content
🕯️
If someone who knows Chinese could help with this passage as well, that would be good. I'm not sure how the words are meant to fit together based on the context and sentence form
Actually just the title, I can't remember if I worked on the paragraph... unfortunately my life is busy so I'll have to take yet another break
I recently did one of the Seed of Hope's memories and is currently thinking about what he and his friends went through
In the last part of the memory it looks like they're huddled together and trying so hard to survive. Not only are they surviving and running from the enemy, they're also trying to survive the Krills
Its from netease website, one of their events, doubt it will come to global
I will remove it just to make sure even though it was spoiler tagged and from same link Sugarfae posted
Im going back to sleep now though, didnt sleep well last night and its past 1 am
twilight also makes sense since well, they aren't quite in the long night yet nor are they still in the dreamy day
If you want to discuss beta related stuff, go to one of the beta's in the beta section
Try #beta-discussion
Well it is not. And with all respect if you dont know what was posted (picture of event from NetEase which gets different events than us), its best to not engage.
I always saw the part at the end as a brief moment of respite and relief despite the horrors all around. Are they terrified? Yes. But are they glad Seed is back to relative safety? Yes.
That’s what that moment is to me: a brief huddle of quiet gratitude amidst the chaos— a moment of hope that Seed will be okay. Idk. Ig the huddle always seemed more… friendly, as opposed to frightened.
That’s not to say they’re not trying to survive, but it’s a second of calm in the storm.
Of course this is just my interpretation, and I’ve been wrong about a lot today, so feel free to ignore it. Simply felt like offering another perspective on the matter.
That's pretty good. They went through a lot in the past and with a situation like that, emotions can hit hard like that
I mean. Yeah. War is terrible and awful and horrific, and if any of them survived afterward, they would be in need of a therapist or three.
Moments like that— where you’re in the heat of the battle, see your friend wounded, then successfully pull them out of the fray, past a honking Krill that nearly kills ALL of you, and to safety— those moments are rare and extremely special, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were tears going on.
Okay, question about the GW shields because I wanna see what people think:
Which shield belongs to the King’s army?
My current thought is that the rounded shields with the Light/White dye symbol belong to the King’s army, since we find the same kind of shield going through Eden.
Have at it, folks! ^v^
Im hald asleep still but i think it should be visible of the seed pics i took during concert
Does sky get destoryed when we enter orbit? Because I just came back from Eden and i saw the vault of knowledge statue along with the other elder statues.
Also is it a theory to have the eye of Eden be resh's castle? And the red diamond the actual throne room
It is resh castle.
The whole realm itself?? That's larger than Elsa's castle
Eh, no. We just enter circle of reincarnation as other light creatures. If you look closely, you can see huge flock of birds flying towards the mountain in second Eden map. They are there for same purpose as us - to become one with the Light and be born once again.
My theory is that the the perpetural shattering storm caused upper (the part between PNR and Orbit) part of Eden to be stuck in never ending time loop and thats why it is both so peaceful and stormy at one time and thats why we see the same buildings getting destroyed over and over again.
Ouuu, that's good!
Ok lowkey hc - what if season of dusk will be season of revival electric boogaloo but instead of going to the light alone at the end we will go with stewie and maybe alef too this time?
If they are both skids like us then it should be possible for them to enter the light and get their bodies back or something
And alef might stay on orbit just like elders decided to
definitely that one because he just pastes his mask on everything
it would fit with themes of rebirth and death for the realm
I was checking images here in this channel to find something and heh guess im anxious angler now
and we'll show Stewie bald Stewies in the orbit
lucky
but not when fishing
via pictures ig because eden statues are skids
To answer my own question - they do (even other ancestors we see)
amnesia joke here
I had fake memory their mask was smooth and alef was the only one with different mask
In the trailers i mean, i know in game everyone has “3D” masks
Alef's neck looks like it's about to snap if he turns it wrong here
This acolyte/teacher has different mask though
He looks like those figurines with poseable heads
Also lameds mask is already cracked, maybe she is also corrupted by darkness here already
just noticed how pretty the inside of the gem looks like
Its not present on her ingame model so it either got destroyed or resh later took it to power something else
or she got rid of it or anything really
Or that yeah
Based on ingame cutscenes she looks like someone who would turn aganist resh as first from all elders
her mask scratch is bigger and wider in game also
Plus the scene where she willingly helps stewie even though everyone else wants to stop them
we don't know how many would want to stop Stewie
She also has big chunk broken off on the other side in game
ohhh she looks so good here
There was couple of them in trailer
Hmm there is small crack on her chin already, so maybe it really IS from the corruption
It is on same spot the biggest spike in that broken off part is too
Well she works with darkstones likely daily because they are used in memory lanterns. Tsadi was originally meant to be half controlled by darkness and his army uses lot of darkstones in the weapons too. Sah and Mekh are almost untouched by the corruption (Sah only has crack on his mask on one side) which makes sense because they were the entretainment and didnt touch darkstones much (propably)
Twins wash their hands
Teth is interesting case, she worked with darkstones but doesnt seem to be corrupted much, she has darkstones growing on her palms but her mask looks untouched, maybe she primarly worked with unrefined darkstones that are less potent? Ayin is one with nature and they are literally untouched
and Daleth wasn't invited
Daleth honestly I have no idea what happened, I heard he got forhotten by time and thats why he looks like this
His mask is VERY destroyed when we meet him
Isle of dawn is described as a place forgotten by time i think it's in the title thing
Maybe it is alefs doing honestly, maybe he saw something bad in trials or wanted revenge in general so he made sure the isle stops existing
Where can I take a gander at the concept art?
Gander?
Take a gander = take a look
Also!
If anyone needs help with Chinese translations regarding Two Embers info from Netease, please hmu!
I’m a native Chinese speaker!
@robust flare
I can't find the concept images again, but the Warrior of Love hair/cape looks really like some early concept art!?
Yes it does, i just arrived home from doctors, give me a moment to get lunch and i will find it for you
For you as well
Hello! Sorry for the photo dump- but just wondering! Do we have any information where exactly in the valley is this place? I've always assumed before that it was the citadel area? But for some reason I kinda see the way to the Hermit's cave?? Or maybe that's just because of that narrow passage.
it's... somewhere in there but the relatievely modern architecture makes it seem like it's in a more central part of the Valley than the Hermit slide
It’s after the temple
nah
the buildings lack the artisanal symbol those after the temple do
Thank you so much!
sorry for delay, i got distracted by whole aurora stuff https://www.tomzhao.com/sky-all
https://www.thatskygame.com/thetwoembers/
Reminds me of the collective journey model actually.
Something about a new trope; the courageous and the caring, lifting each other up to their dreams
I still say there's something about those meteors during the war sequence
its the day the stars fell
aurora threw them
Hi!
- This is definitely not citadel, we are way too far from the mountain of eden in this place (pic. 1).
- Eden is much closer when you look at it from the citadel (pic 2).
- If I had to point out the spot, it is either somewhere near the hermit valley (unlikely as this is rural area) (pic 3).
- or somewhere far east (based on the mountain shape in the warrior) when looking at the mountain from valley social area/ice rink, likely one of those many buildings we see in distance when sliding to colliseum (pic 4)
- golden valley was huge city, front yard of the city of eden, it could be literally anywhere
I don't know how I didn't notice last time but just in case it's new info for anyone else: those cyan beams during The Seed will insta-drain you of all your light if you get hit
Ahh okay! Thank you for the analysis! Watched the concert a few times even during the season and it just clicked now that, that looked nothing like the citadel

the cloud vortex too if you go too near it before you are supposed to
Have there been any theories as to why the clouds charge the capes/wings? Fire is understandable, but why clouds?
I mean they're already dead atp what can they do 😭
My best guess is that the clouds absorb the light, or they're made of light somehow.
I guess this game is called 'Sky,' which translates to '天空' (sky/heaven). The sky has clouds, and when the light children (light creatures) are soaring through the sky, it would be too troublesome if they had to come down to replenish their energy when they run out. If the clouds in the sky could help them recover their energy, it would be much more convenient. Naturally, these ideas are connected, right?
We ask everyone to please post only in English on this server, @patent tapir. Unfortunately, moderators and staff aren't able to support all the languages spoken by our global Sky family.
Clouds are water vapor condensing back into small enough droplets of water, or ice crystals, that they can largely stay suspended in the air. I’d say it’s a funky Sky world logic equivalent to refraction irl. Light passes through the clouds and the water inside refracts it, amplifying the strength of the light until it reaches the point that it can tangibly affect us when we pass through it.
except Light doesn't pass through the clouds, only through holes in them
it's probably more like a charge being trapped on an insulator
interesting how cyan and blue are used frequently as colors used for both light and darkness (eg. the darkstones, the dark plants, and the cyan and blue lights, the eel, the blue bird, and orbit). then again, we can also see this with the color red being used for both candles and the eden shards; what do you guys think of this??
blue bird is also cyan color
So where exactly is aviary ? I just assume it is somewhere close to village of dreams considering harmony hall is in Aviary
aviary village is the village you spawn in as new moth, aviary is place from light awaits and it was beta version of home and looks wise mix of aviary village and home space
it is nowhere near the valley, it is eitehr part of isle or completely separate land
another interesting thing about aviary village is, that there seems to be same amount of paths as there are realms (minus eden), eitehr those are old paths to each realm 500 years ago (think of aviary as crossroads simmilar to wind paths) before realm portals were a thing or tgc is planning to redo the layout in future
:0
even the layout of this part makes it look like this was the main (and maybe only except wind paths) gate to the village and village had tall walls combined with natural terrain for protection
the belltower could also serve as watchtower, there are way too many bells for it to be just cililink every half a hour, this many bells could very well be used for alarm during danger if rang all at once
there also are still darkness plants luring in the clouds which means the village could originally be much bigger but it is still consumed by darkness
and no you cant burn it, i tried, the clouds will push you away
there seems to be entrance to somewhere, likely a path leading from ground floor to the broken arches up there because there really isnt any other path to there, other side of the arches, near belltower, has pond with waterfall and that one seems to be decorative rather than forming by itself over time
there are few steps next to it connecting the land with the belltower (over very uneven terrain though) but i dont think that was the main option to enter the arches
theres also this set of stairs and platforms on ground level near it which could either be foundation of some house or maybe a little garden, who knows
sorry for the monologue
This is the closest I was able to get to Isle Elder. :)
Is Aurora inmune to or more polluted water-resistant than the player?
look at it go, look at me dance over the Sky like a krill
Aurora is speculated (by us
) to be avatar of megabird so she should be immune to anything
Her abilities are interesting.
Self projection, shockwave (not sure if she can cast it by herself), light restoration/steal (not currenncy or level, but power.)
Also shapeshifting, we saw her take form of light ball, bird, manta and self
Levitation too? (She's in a bubble close to the 4 npcs at valley's colloseum)
thats just one of her forms, she has no physical body (if we overlook the manta and bird)
aurora starts emmiting lightning bolts as the blue lights starts to fall which means those attacks could be from resh or maybe punishment from megabird
or it might also be pieces from shattering but then it doesnt make sense why are they blue and not red
Someone actually said that the blue lights symbolize Krill lights, which honestly kind of fit. While the lightning bolts are what we see during the approaching darkness within 2 Embers trailer.
Ooooh interesting!! Never considered that before!
Same until reading that. Would totally make sense why do we have attacking Krills in the trailer.
but the krills in trailer dont have blue light, that krill locked right in with red light whole time
Even though "♦️pieces" is also really interesting, as then we have an open speculation of when did the ♦️ turn from blue to red.
Slightly-off-topic, but do we think Megabird itself has feelings the way a person would? Cuz like… idk but Megabird doesn’t feel like a ‘vengeful god’ type. Like, Love and Connection feel like primary ‘functions’ so to speak. Raining down bolts of destruction doesn’t feel very Loving nor Connecting.
Along that line of thought, does AURORA as the Avatar of Megabird perhaps have more feeling/stronger emotional impulses due to taking a person-shape?
look at it go, look at me dance over the Sky like a krill
Megabird is seen as that great cosmic hivemind/ocean that all Light goes in and comes out of, thus yeah, I´m with you there, Cro. Those bolts could definitely be from an area other than Orbit, like dunno ... City of Eden?
you actually hit something i wanted to type here since london concert but everytime i remembered it there was some deep convo and i didnt want to interfere
And with that, I can also imagine that those King-shaped "turrets" aren´t just in Battlefield, they probably used to be in Eden as well before the Shattering.
AURORA is seen as "ancient spirit of light", thus it´s not beyond thinking that when we see these memories through the concert that she´s injecting her own feelings within as well ... through her songs.
As we´re kind of tasked to recover them through her quests, thus recovering her spirit assistants.
okay so ahem
its about the whole Through the eyes of a CHILD, i know this song was not originally written fopr sky but it fits sky so much, especially in this moment because we see the aftermath of war and shattering while aurora, likely being megabird avatar, sings about how she wants to see and feel the world through the eyes and skin of a child and what we are? we are THE CHILD(ren)!
what if megabird wanted to feel in touch with the world so they (she?) created light creatures to serve as eyes and skin so megabird could "physically" feel the connection with the kingdom and later created Alef but the plan failed and aurora/megabird is singing about how she would rather feeland see the world through us, children of the light, than to witness this barren land....
the initial thought i had sounded way better than now when i wrote it down....
No no, it’s not a bad thought! There’s definitely some symbolism to unpack and think about there!

Connecting that with how the King is said to have sacrificed himself to release light out of the ♦️back to the stars, it´s definitely interesting to see how does Mega-AURORA change us from butterflies into Skykids. Almost as if butterflies are the "initial form" of the Light aka so-called "motes".
im like super sure this is meant to be alef, especially when he is shown as last statue of them all
maybe he regrets what he and kingdom has become but it is too late to go back
... Mind the last trailer image as well when we see the dark kid sit at that exact pose while the light kid is standing as well! 👀
Could absolutely be one of the 2 Embers.
the first statue has easily missable detail - those are not two but three persons, theres child in their lap
... Why does this make me think of what we see during Ushering Stargazer´s memory reliving?
yes i was thinking about the same thing and trying to find connections because the statues somehow vaguely resemble each of the aurroa spirits
Only that it all came to a very tragic end instead, the 3 being permanently petrified together in a guise of death and sorrow. 😭
i actually wanted to do mini thesis on the aurora spirits but i dont have all the info yet
(plus again there was convo about something else and i didnt want to interfere)
We do need to mind that before the Prince, we did already get Ancestors, thus there were already children in the world (mind Boogie Kid) even if they potentially didn´t fall from the stars. And that is pretty much another can of worms that´s best to not be opened up. 😅😅
It’s been delved into a couple times, but you’re VERY right about it being another can of worms, it’s a WHOLE thing.
Seriously, I do hope that 2 Embers will feature at least cameos of some of the Ancestors whose spirits are still present to this day in the game, both regular and seasonal. 🥺 Would really wish to see more snippets of their lives beyond their last memories.
I love your observations! Regarding the bells, I had some questions about them before at one point ( #lore-discussion-spoilers message), they seem to have some very interesting properties and now I wonder, if the Aviary Village has at one point had those paths to other realms you've mentioned, could the bells have had something to do with controlling/stabilising those paths? There are small bells in the wind paths that we need to restore to use the paths properly, if I remember correctly (let me know, if not), so that's a point in favour of this theory about the Village's bells
The fact that we don´t get to see any soldier wear the helmet that both Tsadi and Fainting Warrior wear is just as interesting as the entire Belonging family, since does this mean that only high-ranking commanders get that helmet?
And speaking of those Aviary paths, that´s actually a very good observation, Plyushch. I can already see the scene in my head, especially if the residents travelled to and from Aviary Village via manta-carriage or flying boats.
(1/2)
WHAT AND WHO WERE AURORA SPIRITS AND WHAT IS THEIR "SYMBOLISM"?
(it is just a theory... a GAME theory im sorry)
RUNNING WAYFARER
- the only spirit we dont see in the memory itself at all so we can assume Alef is the running wayfarer
- both the concert and spirit memory are pretty much the same thing, that being Alefs origins, which comes hand to hand with running wayfarer indeed being alef himself
MINDFUL MINER
- possibly mining manager or someone in simmilar position
- both spirit memory and concert portray group of miners discovering huge colony of jellyfish while mining darkstones
- instead of killing them or capturing them for light, the group is behaving gently to them
- one of the jellyfish saves miner from falling down the cliff but it is not clear if succesfully or not as the memory portrays them mid fall
WARRIOR OF LOVE
- manta caretaker, very loving and kind person
- one day his friend (backflipping champion) falls off the manta during racing and Warrior feels bad, thinking it is his fault as he was the one resposible for taking care for the same manta and all the riding equipment
- his friend however makes sure, it is not warriors fault and everything is okay and offers warrior to try manta racing too, giving warrior his cape
- warrior manages to win, likely thanks to the already close bond with the manta (by taking care for it) and likely thanks to his petite body size (less weight = more speed
)
SEED OF HOPE
- battle medic, very strong, can carry other soldiers in arms
- while protecting others, seed gets injured and almost killed during krill attack but thankfully gets saved by more soldiers arriving right on time, buying the group some time to escape
HELPPP i flew right at him and his model literally swerved backwards away from me 😔
(2/2)
HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO THE STATUES WE SEE IN THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD?
it might but it also might not at all
FIRST STATUE - RUNAWAY
- two adult ancestors are holding injured/dead/sleeping child
- we see simmilar scene in ushering stargazer memory, where she and other spirit find alef
- they also appear in one of the two embers trailers
SECOND STATUE - ALL SOFT INSIDE
- statue of adult ancestor holding another one in arms
- it could be the miner that fell off the cliff
THIRD STATUE - WARRIOR
- ancestor with dead manta
- manta racing in spirit memory, manta hunting in concert
- do i need to continue?
FOURTH STATUE - THE SEED
- this is one of the most vague ones in relation to the song itself
- it is clearly alef as we can see him in same pose in void room in two embers trailer
- instead of showing the war we saw in both versions of the seed, it might show the feelings
- maybe Alef regrest who and what he and kingdom has become but it is too late to go back now
damnit i didnt manage to finish writing before someone else sent message here
not you spectra
Oh, ok. Thanks.
But else, this does make me think that Alef is then a completely different person than both Resh/the King and Hopeful Steward, given how Running Wayfarer is a spirit we can interact with while the King is said to be beyond saving.
well have you ever seen running wayfarer and the king in the same room?
Had you seen Hopeful Steward and the King in the same room?
yes actually :DDDD
Unless we´d go down the rabbit hole of "dream symbolism" where multiple people could represent one and the same person.
running wayfarer can very much be alef before he became king resh
Do still find it really hard to believe that Running Wayfarer is Alef is the King. 😅
Especially given the Elder shard memory.
the timeline from tom zhao (though likely no longer canon as it is not in the artbook but it comes from the same time as the sketches of prince alef and king resh) directly says the prince is crowned into king
In which case if the King is beyond saving, then Running Wayfarer shouldn´t even exist in the first place.
and i really dont think stewie is either alef or resh, i had this thought in a while in the past but it just doesnt sit right
but if i had to choose, stewie would be the prince, definitely not the king
entities can come to being from someone else memories too and the more people share the same memory, the more complete the entity becomes
He is the steward aka "an official who is appointed by the legal ruling monarch to represent them in a country and who may have a mandate to govern it in their name (wiki)", thus he´s definitely having more credibility in being the Prince, especially if the Prince is Dusk Ember.
The King is already as obvious as they are, so yeah.
we still dont have definitive statement each spirit = ancestor, as i said before, the maskless spirits for example could be just memory of the profession/hobby/whatever rather than individual people, the fact there is no maskless spirit in any of season even supports it as season are directly about each of the individual spirits/persons
but stewie is oficially said to be dusk ember, not dawn ember
Wish there would be such statement because this is quickly devolving into another can of worms, I´m afraid, especially given how Backflipping Champion is essentially the only spirit to offer a maskless face outside of seasonal spirits, which does put quite a confusing twist on the whole thing. 😅😅
And this does make me certainly sure that Stewie could absolutely be Alef/the Prince, as they do have a King-like authority as well as importance in 2 Embers.
apologiess
While Running Wayfarer could be one of the local residents of Isle of Dawn that was forced to move either once the area started experiencing desertification or in search of a better life, which is actually something that literally got turned into a term within my home country.
it still does not explain why he is the only one we dont see personally in the memory
That being younger people/even children leaving their poorer homes and going towards cities in search for means of survival as well as better life, which would be the answer why don´t we see them personally in their memory, since what we see is their most profound and notable memory that was preserved by AURORA.
Needing to be on the move for better life as a child together with their guardian only to experience them passing away while on the way and needing to continue towards more urbanized realms alone. That definitely sounds like something that would be left in their minds permanently if you ask me, despite finding success as they grew up within more urbanized area/s.
Which would fit with other 3´s more impactful memories as well like being saved from being potentially trapped for good by a cave-in via jellyfish assistance (Miner), nigh-miraculously winning a competition after literally witnessing their coworker/friend fall of a manta and break their leg, thus making them participate on their behalf (Warrior; we don´t know their moral code, thus we don´t know if he chose so or he felt obliged to) and being saved from a large Krill by their fellow comrades after helping them go to safety themselves, braving a hail of spears and even a potentially-fatal back-injury, which is super impressive given the nightmare fuel they (Dark Dragons) are in the trailer (Seed).
... You can actually see in the first image of this set that the 3rd miner (the one that fell onto a jellyfish in a previous set of images) did survive, thus the statue carrying another one within Through The Eyes Of A Child remains a mystery. The only person we do see seemingly perish within All Is Soft Inside is within Miner´s own AURORA quest where a cave-in buries one of the miners before the Miner asks the jellyfish for help.
all my krills, greeting me here as a friend
I'm home, waiting for time to let go...
I want to learn more about Resh honestly
I honestly thought that Runaway was his story, because what it seems like to me is that everyone saw Resh as THE king, the one who would save them or something, but in the end, he caused the crystal to explode and stuff
That's how I see it anyway
Everyone in the Runaway sequence is like bowing down before the child, like holding them up on a pedestal sort of thing
And in Eden's mural it looks like Resh was held very high up
Too high up
POV: you're Resh and you tried fortune-telling after the clouds started looking funny
https://www.thetarotguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/16-The-Tower.jpg
Well in all fairness, that is the entire premise of the "we are the king" theory webs. Though I agree that convolution can get quite overwhelming with some ideas that get presented in Lorechat over time.
🕯️
Hey I was going through a parade in between concerts and found this!! Guards and the King

Or the military
That is the King "turret" of Battlefield. :D
I've casually passed it off as representing the Dawn Ember's story, with the wayfarer just being the storyteller. But you're making some great points.
We can also consider the idea that the AURORA spirits are representative, particularly of the AURORA collab, with their respective memories representing roles that many Ancestors mutually had.
A grumpy mining foreman, a prideful stunt artist, and an tragically-fated combat medic.
These are not roles unique to the AURORA spirits, and there were likely many Ancestors who were able to be described in the same way as these three. Though perhaps others wouldn't have dressed as fashionably and flamboyantly
Before they are their own characters, I personally see every Spirit as representing a role and a story about the kingdom.
Dissolving the AURORA Spirits back into ambiguity allows us to flexibly format the running wayfarer as representing Alef's early journey, but not actually being them. This is just one possible method of interpretation, as many theorists would certainly not want to 'dissolve' anyone
🕯️
Question, can spirits with capes fly?
I know skids can fly, I assume because they're smaller, but can regular adults?
I would like to add the fact that Running Wayfarer and their parent are shown to have travelled to Isle from elsewhere in their personal song-memory, meanwhile Alef is found by Spirits in Isle after falling from the sky and landing near the stone stairs, whereas Wayfarer’s memory begins where we do upon spawning into Isle. I find it highly unlikely that Alef would land in Isle, go off on a journey to somewhere else, and finally come back to Isle with their parental figure.
Although I can’t remember all of Wayfarer’s introductory poem that came with their art, I remember the phrase “cut on stones along a path that promised a place to mend.” Which implies that they were personally unfamiliar with Isle, but hoped that it would be somewhere where they and their parent could find help. I feel like if they already were familiar with Isle, it would not have been worded that particular way.
"Yes but actually no"
While that logic of Alef having always been in Isle during their childhood before the Trials runs soundly using what we have interpreted solely from the game's clues, each Alef trailer we've gotten shows us multiple iterations of what appears to be the same chronology. I'll explain in multiple following messages.
_
The Two Embers Teaser Trailer (selected Alef scenes)
Please note; these are posted transition after transition in chronological order from the teaser trailer.
_
Sky: CotL Switch Launch Trailer
These are also posted in chronological order from transition to transition.
This side by side comparison of the 'real' version of the trailer and the early concept iteration of the trailer released by TGC at the launch of Sky on Switch shows that a similar storyboarding was, and is still being told.
In the new version, they pass through a village and into a forest. As they leave the forest, we are greeted with a shot of Isle as though the perspective comes from facing towards the Temple.
In the old version, they travel across vast dunes, wetlands, and plains, before entering a forest. In this one the transition is much more intentional, showing them leaving the forest, and entering Isle, from the 'south' side, facing the front of the Temple.
Observations
- In the past, the Switch trailer had appeared to offer the notion that the ocean behind Isle had risen by the time we got there, at least to the theorists of that time.
- The much more ambiguous transitions in the new trailer seem to point to them not wanting us to assume these geographical implications any longer.
- It's important to remember that the Switch trailer is an outdated animation showcase, and doesn't accurately represent the story anymore.
- However, the similarities are strong enough to note, in my opinion.
- The implications that Alef did not spend their entire childhood within the small region we know as Isle certainly does add more to the story and from a theorizing perspective, certainly does convolute the timeline's potential outcomes.
Hope this furthers discussion! ❤️ 🕯️
We don't know!
Some people point to the different levels of stars on some Spirit's backs as proof [eg: Granny] but it's generally a topic with a vast variety of opinions.
Many people headcanon/believe that Ancestors with strong enough control over their Light were able to either way, and I've seen some wonderful Ancestor characters and stories made using that idea.
What are your thoughts?
🕯️
I'm so sorry in advance...
But after 4 years the prophecy has come true
Is that what you were so politely holding back this past hour

I typed it, then forgot to send
On observation point 1, the Aurora concert Runaway song even indicates the water levels in Dawn were different, so definitely a possibility that it used to be much larger than we see it now ingame
you have a home in the Sky Queendom!
As much as I like the idea of spirits leaving multiple memories and husks of themselves (assembly / lightseekers, gratitude / radiance, belonging / blue bird) we don't have much evidence ingame for it yet.
However, Running Wayfarer spirit could be one of the other children in Dawn that the 4th quest of Performance talks about, the one with multiple branches of children walking in the desert, and stars falling, glowing, and transforming.
Fundamentally, it comes down to what a spirit "is".
The best way I can explain this is as a Skykid vs the Shared memory a Skykid has left behind.
Is the Shared memory actually the Skykid?
It was once, yes, but it couldn't react to you, as its in the past.
Are the Spirits we see in memories the "real spirit" just like Shared memories?
Are the spirits in places like the Aviary, the Cafe, or quests the actual "spirits" or more advanced shared memories that the shared memory technology we have?
I think this also explains how spirits can seemingly be in multiple places at the same time.
🥺🤏
I saw it in coliseum multiple times, even outside concert, sometimes it is flying around by its own, i have no idea what it is but I call it mini alef
Considering Mini Resh would be Alef
If mini Alef also has a name of its own what would it be
mini mini
I had this theory that the AURORA's Concert isn't just a concert for us sky kids. But it is our memory from the past, the memories of The Light. Back to a time before sky kids existed. When we're all light creatures.
Ancestors were not light creatures ☝️🤓 they were neutral creatures just like crabs
I never said ancestors was
You said we. If you meant we as children of the light, there was no we at all back then
Sky kids are whole new species created 500 years after shattering
Only we that existed back then were elders, them being “proto-sky kids”
I said the sky kids were once light creatures as in related to light being the souls. But also, I thought they mentioned in the intro that ancestors originated from the sky too to shepherd the light souls through their journey.
I am aware that sky kids are a new species, but what I'm saying is their souls were once the light souls that are once within light creatures. As in rebirth / reincarnation.
My theory goes like: The Light recycled the souls that are returned by The Ruler (then Eden goes boom) then some of the light souls returns not as mantas but as sky kids
sorry if I hadn't made it clearer
It is debatable if when you die as one species, you reborn as the same species or you can be, either randomly or by choice, different one. We saw no instance of this so far.
Only aurora was seen shapeshifting so far
true! There is no proof to really back it up, but it's fun to theorize!
I recall seeing an old concept art about the Soul Cycle. That after Eden they either Evolve (like us gaining more stars) or rebirth (which may be into other things)
But if I may ask can you tell me more about Aurora shape shifting?
I headcanon that Aurora is The Light or at least the representation of it
We theorised and pretty much agreed on that aurora is the avatar of megabird
It literally is
interesting....
cmon gramps, i set up your staff on fire, do something
anyone knows how long the whole isle cutscene is? because its been like 5 minutes and he still did not change pose
i only remember it is L O N G
oh hey i found his mask
That's very assertive, but there are assumptions being confidently put forward here as the utter truth. We know far too little of Ancestor, crab, and Descendant anatomy to say what's what and who's who in terms of 'neutrality' and the implications of that.
And besides, figuratively, all Beings are "children of the Light" ☕ 🕯️
My friend has also been theorizing them to be memories; even the ones that seem to be interactable characters
🕯️
it may be either coffin or boat shaped
Some interesting tidbits from Running Wayfarer AURORA quest, especially the floating ascended (!!) spirits.
they are ascended only because it uses the same model as the one you see in constellation table
is there a lore reason why some masks have those forehead diamonds and others don't? 🤔
Exactly, which means that this boy didn´t fall out of the sky, they came with that boat from somewhere else with their guardian. If you ask me.
bereft veteran works the same way, he is unascended in his younger models but ascended in his last model because it uses the same model you see everywhere else, it saves game size space
Bet these 2 ascended spirits are Pointing Candlemaker and Ushering Stargazer, which just adds more interesting things to the lore of RW. :)
Yesterday was the first time I noticed the Assembly symbol on the bag in their boat. You can see the top of the symbol from the pic - I wonder what that's about. None of their other bags have symbols that I noticed, just the one
Edit: Also, the floating spirits are meant to be in boats. I'm not sure where the boats disappeared to lol
as far i know season of assembly is just buncho of kid/teen scouts doing kid/teen scout stuff without really impacting lore
Yes! Thank you! I know it’s a cool idea for Running Wayfarer to be Alef, but I just don’t think the evidence we have properly lines up to come to that conclusion. It feels more like wishful thinking to make this one significant figure in a collab Season, no matter how well integrated into the greater canon it may be, into actually being THE significant figure of Sky lore.
As I believe Tomte already said, Running Wayfarer’s life and journey can parallel aspects of the life of the Ember-who-would-Rule, but they are not necessarily one and the same person. That’d be like saying because Sky Kids and Mantas are both beings of Light, travel through the realms, and can fly, that a Sky Kid is a Manta. There are similarities, but they are not the same thing.
i meant wayfarer being alef literally as alef. alef, not resh, just a memory of who this boy once used to be
I have no clue about missing boats too, probably a funny bug.
That is really interesting too, since Assembly Scouts are stated in Hidden Forest. Even though it can also be one of the bags they got for the journey as well that they probably got via barter; the vagueness is a bit too much for it.
there will be BIG spam in incoming minutes, im sorry in advance
theres like no architecture in peaks but i can try maybe later, it will definitely be way more included once i will be doing flora and fauna of sky
gee, discord sure makes lot of those photos ugly, make sure to open them in web browser instead
Prob has been mentioned before but the progression in Journey started on land then ends in the skies while Sky starts off there and ends in space, it's nice how they're lightly linked like that
I'm curious who the kid at the edge of that is. My first guess probably would be Running Wayfarer
alef...
I was wondering about that too. But I wasn't 100% sure yet 😆
Maybe he found another way to get to the temple?
Oh in one of the trailers, he was on a boat with a group of kids with a few grown ups. One of them being either a teacher or caretaker
either not very accurate depiction of Alef or wayfarer.. i hope we see them meet ig
Isn't that the same one we follow through the entire Runaway quest?
Considering the Runaway song-memory ends at/very near that specific spot, and the boats that the Spirits all ride on towards the temple only appear then, I think the developer intention was that we’re supposed to come to the conclusion that this is the same child. It’s just that during the concert we see it expanded upon through a literal birds eye view, instead of only following the child.
holy Megabird
he...... he has the eye on his chest, he's in the army
it strengthens my ideas even more
this is gonna push me too make a Sprit piece
he also has a sun on his shield
or did i misunderstand?
like are you surprised a gigant block with a spear is in the army orr
nah, it's just a tiny bit more complex
the eye symbol is widespread throughout the realms and my observations have led me to think that it symbolizes safety so it's presence on Tsadi's chest seems to strengthen this idea
are you taking about '<✧>'?
all elders have it on their chest
(besides twins because they're forced to share)
I mean, it makes sense for the Elders to have that symbol, they’re Guardians of their Realms. Symbols of safety, shepherds of the people and whatnot. If I was just a random Ancestor, I’d associate the Elders with that symbol.
Not to mention keeping themselves safe helps keep the people they watch over safe (relatively speaking; there’s only so much protection you can have against a magic fantasy nuke going off).
I think this ‘eye of protection’ (got me thinkin abt the Eye of Horus irl ngl) has valid roots!
i always found it funny how the wooden chairs survived perfectly, but not the structures made out of literal stone and metal
a nuke that kills everyone for the next 500 years is a nuke that kills everyone for the next 500 years but a chat on two chairs should always be on schedule
Perhaps the wood has petrified, like the forest?
Skids do too
Its because they belong to Vergil /j
I think these are cyan light magical weaponry, perhaps dropped by the Valley Elders (check the season of prophecy murals)
Probably not.
Recently, I've been asking myself why Aurora would show us the memories from the past. I know there's probably theories that she's either a part of the Mega Bird or if she is the Mega Bird, but still.
The last two songs in the concert- The Seed (showing the war and stars falling); and Eyes of the Child (showing after the war with victims that lost people around them)
I’ve always seen those two as lessons on 1) the history of the area (it has been 500+ years since then) 2) the horrors of war and 3) a hard lesson in empathy.
Jumping off-topic (as I tend to do, sorry), I got closer pictures of the King statues in Wasteland!
With wars like that in Sky, it always comes with a price.
Wars always come with a price, fictional or not.
And you're good 😁 There's always a clue that the King's is always there... Well, not physically yet.
And yes, you're right about war
War always brings bad luck
It’s interesting to note the way the outermost spikes aren’t a continuous flow of the structure, they jut out from the main shape. Also how it’s clearly a robed figure just…. standing there. I’m curious if the center of the mask/star is hollow, or if, perhaps, there’s a darkstone in the middle. (I mean,,, if these are ALSO turrets/defense systems, a darkstone would make sense)
We usually see the characters like our Sky Kids wear regular masks and the King wears a diamond shaped mask we see currently. I wonder if he wears any regular masks whenever he's not wearing it?
Eggs lore finally explained
As an old player I feel extremely emotive
Hi lorechat!
I translated a video from Netease where Jenova Chen talks about the Two Embers and Days of Stars.
Im curious - are the genders set in stone or is it just “work around” as I heard chinese language doesnt really have gender neutral term?
Also aww new scenes (i had a theory the tiny manatee we see at the start of trailer is the same manatee as stewie has)
yes
chinese is not a gendered language, but it does not have gender-neutral pronouns
and we can actually tell the masculinity/femininity of spirits in gendered languages, e.g. fainting warrior is feminine in the spanish localization
Okay so it is the same as in czech cuz we also dont have singular “they”, we have only “it” as singular gender neutral, “they” is always plural though there are attempts to make it singular too recently
in chinese, there are singular masc/fem pronouns, and plural masc/fem too
in groups of mixed gender, plural masc is used
however, there is no easy way to create gender-neutral pronouns in chinese without inventing a new word
Did the trailer directly say “boy and girl” or was it more “masculine presenting and feminine presenting” way? Im sorry Im just having hard time seeing Stewie as feminine (or Alef if hes meant to be the girl lol)
Stewie is just NB icon in my eyes still
yes, boy and girl
i tried to translate as literally and as faithfully as possible
i've always seen stewie as feminine, personally
but i never judge others for their HCs. i don't mind masc/enby stewie 🫶
🤝🏻
I believe this is due to the following:
-
China is a very conservative country. Many don’t grasp the idea of alternative gender expression, so Jenova Chen has to design and introduce those characters in a way that people will understand.
-
It’s easier to say and distinguish between ‘the boy and the girl’. Probably also explains why it is such a popular trope in anime to have a fem protagonist and a masc protagonist, even if it’s not for hetero romance reasons.
If anyone has questions, or wants me to help translate something, please don't hesitate to let me know!
ok skybot
(netease event art)
So about ancestors/skids having or not having mouths, apparently the food gets magically processed through the mask?
chinese sky is getting a pizza hut collab, yes
Yes, with this pic im reffering to older discussion about how people of sky even consume food and make noises when they dont seem to have mouths while unmasked
Like I guess the food just gets processed into some form of light and absorbed to their body in that form??
i think the 'mouthless character absorbs food' trope is quite common in media
let me grab a (somewhat) relevant video...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yreq7UBwn20
i still don't know how feel about her mask being flexible
i think i hate it a little more
This feels like frame error to me cuz she is also missing the crack under eye there
oh yeah we saw that in the trailer
Rewatching the scene, she has eyes open in the international trailer in the same scene so either they changed the animation for chinese watchers for whatever reason or it is an error
She doesnt have single crack on her mask yet she has it in the international one, maybe it has to do something with religion? That they cant portray acolytes being corrupted or something?
Other characters in the cn trailer blink under the mask normally
also this is adorable, i want it as prop in game
i wonder if the egg lore was planned or was it just a spur of the moment thing
about masks
how are they attached to the head?
I think ‘in the moment’
Because the egg is actually an unused quest from sky: light awaits
Dark stone?
It helps things fly in place
I didn't notice it. Maybe I'll look for that after work?
I'm guessing this is a little bit before she had that.
I was wondering who the eggs belonged too! ✨
2019 2020 2021 players
Hello 👋🤗 I'm a 2021 player. I started between October and November of that year
June 2021 kid
I started when Flight was starting to end. Like between 40 to 20 days left of it
I think, but can't remember 😅
where do they put it then?
Hello. Do Sky Kids have mouths?
How do they eat stuff like the buns from tea set or marshmallows?
I remember having some of those myself, but I don't remember how exactly that went
Do sky kids just inhale it? Or by osmosis? Or with an actual mouth (on or behind their mask?) they can put edible items into?
This image seems to imply that they just kinda push food through the mask
Ohh ok, found this now
sorta makes sense ig
But I don't think we know anything about what is going on underneath
Yeah that confused me, but if food is just light or a skid can somehow transform it into light when touching the food, then they can also absorb it through the mask ig?
Yeah we eat the cafe buns by just turning them into light and absorbing so that makes sense
It is literally the same scene from global trailer where we can see her with cracked mask…
honestly we don't know both assumptions are fair but i like to think skids eat with their core
they don't appear to have many organs imo
Hm skykids eat light, so are they comparable with plants?
do skykids make oxygen?
same scene
CN vs global
Cracked mask on two places (under left eye and on right side of chin) just like in game, only in smaller scale
they make flapping energy
in lamed's case, it's in her mask
- you know how the skykid default mask has a diamond on the forehead?
skykids are light creatures and they know light magic (which also makes things float), so they can use that
sure but most Ancestors don't have them in their masks what about them?
Our masks, like our capes and accessories, appear to be made of light entirely (they vanish when we lose light) so they can behave differently than regular solid objects.
In the case of the Ancestor’s masks, it makes more sense for the masks to be fitted perfectly to the face and just sit in place.
Having every citizen need darkstone to levitate their mask in place would be far too expensive/a waste of resource that could be used for other things.
A more unsettling speculation is that the masks sort of… attach themselves to the face. After all, they can be moved (the hands-dragging-down-the-face emote) but they bounce right back into place.
Do they ever need to go toilet 🤔🤔🤔
even if they do fit they would just as easily come off
i think their true nature may in fact be far more sinister than it seems
we'll probably never learn of it though
Oh dear, I'm a bit worried for people to actually assert this as evidence in future discussions.
🕯️
I'll refer back to this one:
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
The genders are meant to be ambiguous so that the player can interpret every character in both the game and the show however they want. But this doesnt just include the player, but also all of the developers, even Jenova himself! The developers will have their own interpretations of each character's gender, and the shared community understanding of the Netease team's interpretations is presented more obviously due to a lack of neutral terms.
So it's not entirely a 'workaround' since that may be how those developers view the genders of those characters- but canonically and for the sake of Lore archiving, we can't and probably shouldn't gatekeep Netease's (and even Chen's) personal views as law. ❤️ 🕯️
I think what you said in the linked post/message about the neutrality/lack of gender being a tool and not an obstacle is huge.
And it’s so true. With it, we can focus more on them as people as opposed to their perceived genders, because what matters at the end of the day is the story being told, the world being built.
We could bicker and debate until the end of time about what pronouns we think each spirit uses/used, but it would be like drawing a circle: ultimately pointless. We don’t need to worry about it. It shouldn’t be our focus when we have other questions we’d rather know the answers to.
At the same time, talking about personal interpretations of gender aren't a bad thing at all, we just can't assert them onto other people.

Exactly! We’re all welcome to our interpretations. ^v^
We just need to remember that no one interpretation is any more canon than any other— even the interpretations of the dev teams. Cuz at the end of the day, they’re just interpretations of the media. ^v^
I found something creative in one of the Concert memories! In the battlefield showing the war, I could hear some sound effects when the fallen stars were hitting the ground. It kinda sounded like thunder a little bit of you listening closely
Part of that gendering could be down to translation too, especially when there is little gender neutral usage in the source language, or conversely, gender specific modifiers on things without "human genders" such as in the romantic languages, such as French and Italian.
Not saying the interview translation was mistaken, just that when you are going through a translation from the original language, big pinches of salt need to be taken with it too.
E. G. "the table, it had a book on it" with a feminine noun modifier could be translated as "the table, she had a book on her" despite the table not actually having a gender as non gendered languages would consider it.
I kind of interpreted it as "burning" the food to absorb the energy/light orbs from it or something
I also wonder, if sky kids need food in general or if it's more so just something they can enjoy on occasions
Idk maybe the "energy" from it "tastes" different or something? Or maybe it's just an imitation of what the ancestors did? Like the social aspect of eating? (Did the ancestors need food in general anyway or was also a more social/occasional fun treat thing?)
i think they defenetly needed food or else they wouldn't like it
I find it confusing that in game, we eat and drink with our masks on
Hi guys i havent played sky in 4 years is aleph still relevant to the sky lore
Yes. I believe so
are the things we see in the concert any canon?
they're considered to be
i would love to know more about the story behind them, a few scenes are very interesting
4 years
you should start knowing TTE
Not necessarily
You don't need candy, but it's something you indulge in once in a while (not the best analogy, but hopefully you get the point)
They might be getting their "fuel" from fire and stuff, while actual food is completely optional (this is just a theory of course)
i actually don't get the point
Okay, so I was trying to say that you don't have to need something in order to enjoy it. Plenty of things people enjoy are not necessary for survival at all, so it might be the same kind of situation for sky kids (and maybe ancestors too, who knows) with food - not something they need to survive and something they would be completely fine without, but something they can enjoy from time to time nonetheless
ah you were talking skykids only
technically they do Immitate the behavior of ancestors
it might be that aswell
No, as I said, I think it could be a possibility for the ancestors as well, but we have a lot less information about them, so it's a lot less clear how their bodies functioned, we just assume that they're different from sky kids, but we don't know, if they needed food either
Thanks)
Still, the presence of them in itself doesn't tell us that much, since we haven't seen anyone actually eating or directly handling the food in the trailers, if I'm not mistaken (let me know, if I missed or forgot of such moment/gen). The shot also doesn't make it completely obvious what that is (could be potatoes, could be something else; maybe that's just some rocks who knows) I'm really looking forward to when the two embers come out to maybe figure more of these things out
They're making an entire animated series about them and it's coming out very soon 💔
Here's a trailer about the character we think is Alef
🕯️
https://youtu.be/ZHWzoxglzLY?si=s1rymmI7OvWrh73y
But grandma feeds it too us so it must me something tangible ?
I'm unsure of the specifics, but since grandma's a spirit, they might be passing us energy of some sort that takes on the appearance of the buns? Or idk, summoning actual food somehow from somewhere? Either way, we have to burn it in order to consume it
Guys I just realized these spirits are the same ones (but grown up🥹) as from the Season Of Belonging idk if anyone else noticed
Omg that so crazy
We get a physical bun in the café, but it bursts into light and then we consume it.
Truth , .... I wonder if the burning , is like a way of "cleansing" or something, im just going with my imagination here , haha , I love sky
Have to wonder where this is located.
Yes, and a lot of things are also relevant.
The Exhale Inhale part doesn't seem to be anything besides an abstract scene.
The Runaway part seems to show the original settling of Isle of Dawn, and migration of the Ancestors.
The All Is Soft Inside part shows the exploitation of the Sky world by miners.
The Runaway part shows the kidnapping of mantas by the Ancestor spirits.
The Seed part shows the Sky kingdom at war with itself, and everything starting to collapse.
The Eyes of A Child part might just be an abstract representation of the Sky kingdom's demise
That's extremely interesting to me, because in most languages with grammatical genders, Hopeful Steward has a male grammatical gender. Just shows the goofy nature of gender in the sky world
Sky kids! Lore aficionados! Have you watched all the past trailers of The Two Embers? Do you have a lot of Sky lore and world setting related questions?
We want to hear them! Submit your Sky lore questions by filling out this survey by June 15th PDT and the animation creators just might answer them in an upcoming video… 👀🔥

Personally, I'm curious about the narrator. I know the characters do not talk but will have dialogue (like having laughter, sighs, etc.)
maybe the grass color can give us a hint?
Potentially, but the lighting looks like it messes with the coloring a bit too much. (Like how grass in night-time scenes looks really blue when we know grass is generally some shade of green).
Chinese doesn’t have grammatical genders. It just doesn’t have a genderless singular personal pronoun.
ohhhh boy, prepare. i have so many questions
I have submitted so many questions, looking forward to hearing others questions, and the answer discussions!
Hello everyone,
I'm not exactly sure where to begin, but perhaps talking about the old theories surrounding the lore of Sky: Children of the Light is a good place to start.
This is actually my first post here on Discord. I believe what I’m bringing isn’t anything particularly new, nor something that adds much to the new directions the Sky universe has taken. In fact, it's something personal, something that happened to coincide with the process of writing an essay that blends a bit of academic analysis with the game Sky, deeply inspired by the mythical narrative style the game used to have years ago.
I played Sky back then, when its story felt closed-off and mysterious, and players creating thousands of theories (Surprised they still do this!). There were countless theories attempting to make sense of that universe of the Sky Lore.
I realized that everything had changed. Today, things are different. The lore has expanded, and much of what existed before has been reinterpreted or faded away. Still, I found myself circling back to the things that once captured my attention in the world of Sky. And somehow, everything aligned when I happened to be reading Mircea Eliade around the same time.
That’s when I started putting some thoughts down on paper. If you read my article, you might spot inconsistencies or even misinterpretations compared to the original story, especially given the additions made to the game over time. But this was a personal interpretation one I followed on what the game meant to me back then.
I will provide the link to read online or to download the article file (I hope I don't break any rules because of this).
So, after finishing it, I thought it might be worth sharing—with those who once played Sky and felt something special about the atmosphere the game used to have.
Best regards,
Here's what I think people should ask. This may be extremely important:
Don't ask anything related to the plot of the Two Embers. You can wait until July for that. So don't ask for anything relating to the Ruler's backstory, or Stewie's manatee, since that's gonna be solved.
But also, don't ask anything that can be easily confirmed. Like, "is there a war?" and "are we made of light?". The best questions should be a bit more difficult and challenging.
Funnily enough, this is not the only Sky research paper that I know of, but this is still really cool!
Here's my questions:
-
What is the purpose of the Void of Shattering? Is it a remnant of the Ruler, or is it an entity comprised purely of darkness? Or something else entirely?
-
What power did the Elders have over their world and people?
3.How does colored light work and why is it so prominent in the magic of the Sky world?
-
What are the major differences between an Ancestor Spirit and a Skykid?
-
Do all collaboration seasons truly, actually, have an impact on the Sky lore? Is it selective, e.g Aurora is but Moomin isn't?
This is amazing, i will need to read it in more detail, but the outline and first arguments of studying a game being no different to study of literature is something I've been trying to say for a while now.
I love the way that you equate skykids doing emotes to a sacred remembrance of an emotion, as it really is.
More questions:
- Do all the basegame spirits we see in Sky die around the same time?
- Does Home Island have any lore reason?
- Do the portals in Aviary Village have any significant lore reason?
- Gender in the Sky world. Will there ever be a specific explanation?
- Do Ancestor Spirits fall from the sky like us, or were they born some other way?
- Is there an exact family tree for the Belonging Family?
- Do the Prophets from Season of Prophecy have direct powers of their own?
- Is the Ruler we see in Two Embers the Elder of Eden in a way?
- Are Days Of events supposed to be traditional festivals celebrated by the Ancestors?
- Do Skykids mimic the Ancestor Spirits to learn emotes?
- Are Skykids the one placing the decorations and such in the Days Of events?
- Can the Ancestor Spirits do anything physical in the Sky world, or are they just bystanders?
- What place did Running Wayfarer originate from?
- How long did people live in Aviary Village?
- How old is the Sky society during the time of the Two Embers?
- What is the meaning of the giant weapons in the Battlefield area in Golden Wasteland?
- Are map shrines set up by the Ancestor Spirits, or someone else?
- Are the Sky realms "frozen" in one period of time?
- Is there a lore reason for the Prairie Peaks having a different time cycle than anything else?
- In Sky: The Two Embers, will there be any significant changes/retcons to the world of Sky: COTL?
- Are the animal masks actually inspired by animals in the Sky world?
- What happened to the Cave of Prophecies after the prophecy was fulfilled?
- Is the Treasure Reef an open pit mine?
- Can spirit memories be moved and stored anywhere, as shown in the Season of Remembrance?
- Are the Duets spirits siblings, friends, or dating?
- What is the status of the Bearhug Hermit in the Village of Dreams? Are they feared or loved by the village?
- What is the actual purpose of the axes in Hermit Valley (there are no trees around!)
- Do the connections in the Wind Paths have any lore significance?
- Was the Valley of Triumph always this frozen over?
- Do Ancestor Spirits experience cold and heat the same way humans do?
- How often did the different realms interact and inter-mingle with each other?
- Is the Dusk Ember confirmed to be the exact same character as the Hopeful Steward?
- How much of the Two Embers will be entirely new stories, and how much could we already decipher from seeing the in-game lore?
- Do the Ancestor Spirits have a language of their own, or do they only communicate in honks?
- What's the status of the mythological "lore bible" that the devs have planned out beforehand?
- For how long has the Two Embers been planned out in the sky lore?
- Was Hopeful Steward always supposed to be the guide of Aviary Village? What's the developer's origin of the character?
- Does Aurora have any significant connection to the Sky world?
- Is the Crescent Oasis an actual place in the Sky world?
- Why don't most Season Guides ascend once they're done?
- Are "motes" from the concept art reappearing in Sky: The Two Embers?
- What happened to all the manatees so that Sanctuary Islands and Prairie Peaks are now the only place we find them?
- How long was time period between the Shattering and the full destruction of the Ancestor Spirits' society?
- What is the origin of the Vault of Knowledge, when was it built?
- Who is the child we hug at the end of PNR?
Look through these before submitting your own questions, so there's no repeats!
From what we know: https://venturebeat.com/games/how-sky-the-children-of-the-light-broke-records-for-most-simultaneous-people-on-the-screen-jenova-chen-interview/
GamesBeat: It’s wordless?
Chen: Right. Very rarely will you find a film or animated series that does that. But there will be narration, because people do need some context.
We know there's narration, but not the actual specifics of it. Will it just be sporadic, or will it go very in-detail? Who will the voice be? Because the narrator will be the only voiced character in the entire show, their performance may make or break the whole thing. Perhaps that's what they're working on right now.
Don't sell yourself short. This is an incredible interpretation of Sky's story, and it fits perfectly even with the modern story!
If anything, the additions reinforce your themes even more! After all, you include Aviary Village quotes in your paper. I love how you address the themes of Sky in a unique way, and making the Skykid the main focus. Sometimes, people focus on the past journey instead of the present story, but this essay is really good in highlighting the importance of the Child of Light.
The last few pages don't focus on Sky as much, more about virtual spaces as a whole, but I still think it's absolutely amazing how you wrote all this. If there was a Sky lore class, I would make this required reading
@robust flare Check this out if and when you want to, but take your time and don't pressure yourself to read it all.
🕯️
Hey, is it alright if I annotate this over the next day and send my notes back to you?

Whats TTE?
WHAT REALLY!? OH MY GODDD ITS SO AMAZING TO SEE HOW FAR SKYS GOTTEN

Wuuwww! Sweet!
i loved aleph and his design so much back then
https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Sky:_The_Two_Embers
Watch all the trailers, then come back here.
Sir yessir! Thank you so much!! Omg theres alr a part one!
I remember seeing that one small animated clip of the whales and EVERYONE went nuts, its so cool to see it becoming a full fledged series with sky being my whole childhood and all
your whole childhood-
Oh god, Sky is 6 years old. Wow...
Part one releases July 21, and focuses on the Revival Guide in Aviary Village, aka Hopeful Steward. Part two probably focuses on Alef.
Yes, I also flinched hearing that- 🧑🦳 🧑🦯➡️

And for it to look so beautiful too~

ALEFFFF!!
WOOWW THATS SO SOON!!
i nearly cried from how utterly stunning the visuals were, do you guys think the two embers are the girl and her whale? Theyre so CUTE

I KNOW RIGHT?

Does anyone actually have any official art of aleph? Or even those ones made back all those years ago (if someone has knowledge on his lore feel free to tell me too!) I LOOVEEDD aleph back then

Just heads up that we dont have official statement that the two embers are stewie and alef yet
We see spirits growing food in forgotten ark.
Do you have pictures of that Spirit memory?
I dont but its the funny hat spirit that does the scaring birds away emote
@noble ferry you've got someone to dump all your knowledge on
Last time I did that memory for daily quest I got softlocked in in four times
pain
Hey I saw this mask on the entrance in either Isle of Dawn or Hidden Forest. Does it mean anything? Or is there for creative reasons?
I think it would be kind of funny if the narration sounded like singing/a bunch of musical notes, to go with The Vibes of the Orbit ascent. And then there’s normal subtitles for their voice.
i think it will be just text like during quests
Saw that, thx 😊 Maybe someone we don't know wore that?
its literally beta design of forest elder...
Oh, I don't know that and now I do 😅 They went with the current one we see today
😭
I'm having problems with the game says: there are problems connecting with the servers and on my Internet my internet is perfect. Any solution?
hi, this is lore channel, please go ask in #questions-and-help
why do people always aks here?
Thx
Sorry 😔 I'm kinda new with the beta art 🫢
You'd be surprised; it happens to every single chat! I wouldn't be surprised if they even get them in beta discussions

Sorry for the wait! Here's some screenshots of Resh, canonically known as 'The Ruler' from the trailers, taken by Luca!

Further notes on masks as I move through Otiveletse's paper, linked below 👇
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Another form of communication is the use of masks: each mask has a design that suggests a trait of character or archetype. Masks convey the personality, an emotion, or a trait of a persona. The lion mask, for example, is the refers to a proud and majestic figure, almost theatrical, suggesting that the one who wears it symbolically embodies this persona.
-- Otiveletse, An Essay on Virtual Sacredness and Digital Imagination, pg. 14
The Central Theme of Masks across all Media is Presentation;
per·so·na
/pərˈsōnə/
noun
- the aspect of someone's character that is presented to or perceived by others.
- a role or character adopted by an author, actor, etc. or in a game.
syn: image, face, character, front, role, exterior, mask
And that gives us a strong foundation to the understanding of Masks we'd built previously together that I attempted to express in the post below 👇
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
For the Descendant (skykid), my answer hasn't changed.
For the player, it represents the fluid flexibility of ambiguity that we are privileged to have.
But for the Ancestor? It represents the personnae they felt obligated to take up. Not necessarily or often for the freedom of expressing a choice, but expressing a duty; a title, a task. This aligns solidly with what we've come to discuss and ponder in regards to the Ruler, and their people such as the Vault Elder. Their masks, and the expression upon them, represent their duty, their Presentation. It says quite a lot.
The face, as a Theme, is the central form of Human Expression. But in the end, it is the Front, and not the Whole. The tremendous information our face conveys to the Other is nothing compared to what is behind the Mask.
I will be posting much, much more. ❤️ 🕯️
WOO more Tomte essays!

i was asleep and i have to go somewhere later 😭
This is good info! I know in game, some spirits don't wear masks. We all know this detail, whenever we wear masks, our eyes are open and whenever we don't wear masks with face makeup (like Aurora Spirits and the Princess from Nine Colored Deer Season) or without it, our eyes are closed
For sure! It's almost as if the closed eyes represent the mental need to still put up defensive mental barriers, and feel less vulnerable. (Thematically, perhaps not 'canonically'.)
The "Visual Relations" concept graph that shows us the ranges of Connection and Indifference tells us that skykids are still prone to the Indifference, the insecurities of our Ancestors, despite being Connected to the Light.
So maybe they don't feel secure/confident enough to open their eyes...
🕯️
Yes, it's almost like they're struggling with whatever they're dealing with
my headcanon is that they’re just really short-sighted, and their eyes are closed because they’re actually squinting intensely to try to see. Masks are like contact lenses for Sky Kids.
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Here’s a collage i found of Alef/Resh
i’ll explain more resh lore later im actually out rn :,D
What a coincidence, I was just about to comment weather or not the kings star sits directly on top of his head, or wears it like a headress.
It appears the king wears their star as a mask to my knowledge
Oh, so it's a headress? I was speculating. Because it would've been really odd if it just sits on top of his head like a regular crown, but. The head dress that sits kinda like a mask is cool!
Yeee
Not going to lie, some of this art reminds me of Sauron.
I could see especially with the king statue
The king of sky does have like evil vibes in their character design
The spikyness and being built like a fridge to appear imposing, yeah
Do you think he turned into some type of spectré based off that one concept art at the bottom and just destroyed the entire kingdom from the top of his castle?
In canon, I dont really think so
Nothing is physically left of them in Eden
Possibly the only thing left of them is that glowy child in Eden but there’s no confirmation yet but there’s implications
Now I have another question, 😂 When we leave Eden and go into orbit--that stone structure-- is that what's left of the castlem
That may be part of what’s left of the castle shown in the Two Embers trailers
Yikes, that's the tallest castle I have ever heard of! What would even someone do with that much amount of room?
Well, the Ruler doesn't appear to be known for being a humble, subtle, not-greedy person
Imagine the flight of stairs someone had to use! 😱
Whenever I go to the vault I imagine all elders would be like 10 feet tall including the king. And the spirits and sky kids would be way smaller than them
Come to think of it now, I'm curious about that. It did show the Vault Elder having a regular adult height in Two Embers. Probably the other Elders are similar as well, but I'm guessing Wasteland Elder is a bit taller but might not be as close as King Resh
Right, I sometimes forget that the Ancestors can't just ascend vertically like we can

But sometimes I do remember! Valley has stairs everywhere, but the best example is the Citadel area with the spinning golden Orrery rings. I love reliving the Handstanding Thrillseeker's memories, and watching them and the other Ancestor run up the many flights of stairs. Walking along their path instead of flying from memory fragment to fragment reveals the sheer scale that we who can fly really just don't comprehend sometimes. The realms are already expansive as they are, and we will always wonder how they travel these distances.
I wonder, perhaps, if they installed an elevator of some kind to get up to the palace as opposed to stairs?
They are grossly underutilized in-game (in my opinion), but there are floating platforms occasionally used in architecture all across the realms. I'd like to think that if Darkstone boats were used across the kingdom, even in Isle, there wouldn't be that much reason for the platforms to also be used everywhere too.
🕯️
there actually was that old image with elder models height comparison and a moth haired chibi for reference
and if we use it lamed is like one head taller than average spirit height which is how tall she seems to be in the trailer
I could also use a Stewie for reference later but idk how much i should trust all that i have
i mean.. they can now just in a bit of a limit in routes
i we do believe that image she seems a little shorter in the trailer
at least with the Stew
her size is around a head taller than ancestors in first images so it's either ancestors that are bit shorter than Praying Acolyte or she was height gambling
ot Stewie got shorter when they died
I personally would be exhausted after doing that many stairs in resh's palace.
their legs must be buff
Imagine the servants who have to take the flight of stairs. I sure hope we see an elevator in reshs castle in TTE
oh!
this shot of lamed gives us a really good look at the color of her clothes!
it's purple in the middle
dark blue
Things could’ve changed in between last year’s designs and this year’s designs
E.g. the soldiers’ spears now have dark stones in them
still dark blue on shoulders but the purple could very well be just lighting (second pic is from last year trailer)
though both blue and purple dye can be found in vault once tgc fixes the bug and wasteland (where her temple seems to be) so it still makes sense for it to be those colors
purple is also royal color, being really hard to obtain as dye in medieval times, so even if it ends up being purple, it would make sense for her high status i assume
shes little bit closer to camera than other acolytes but if we move them all on same level, she looks to be same height or maybe just a little bit taller as the acolytes are
Why does it look like he has a hunch on his back?
she was bowing to resh there
No-no, resh.
already analysed in this convo #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Well, the more I read about this lore convo, the more I think that resh was just a spirit being rather than a king.
star shape shields belong to kings army
I wonder how they're going to show the two embers across multiple platforms 🤔
Thoughts on how human these statues of the Twins (I’m assuming) look? Most other sculptures we see in-game are of a different style, typically blocky/angular and more of a stylized appearance. These, however, have more of a ‘realism’ quality to them. (Obviously no more detailed than the stylized ones, but far-more human-proportioned, especially in the face.)
Like, we see skids have ears, a nubbin of a nose, and the maskless mask (what a delightful oxymoron that is) shows eyelashes with the right accessories, but these statues have much more defined noses, ears, and eye sockets. While this could just be a placeholder/modeling thing (these are usually seen from a distance; skids don’t typically end up here lol) I’m curious. Maybe, like in real history, there were different art movements in the Ancestor culture.
it is bottom right designs for sure, no noses though
early skids had noses though, those statues could be from same stage of development and since they are not really directly visible, they were left as is
Daaaang!! Very cool!
One day I’ll have enough money again to spare for the art book
(im sure these are available online, I just like having a physical book lol)
also i found this map again, island on bottom right with secret on it is 100% aviary, outer islands could be collab areas (or maybe some eden expansion we are yet to get), wasteland secret is likely treasure reef + forgotten ark (or again, some of the buildings in distance we cant visit yet), east day is birds nest + sanctuary, no idea what valley secret could be (village of dreams? but it should be on other side), eden secret is likely orbit (or future area), no idea what western desert and its secret is, it being desert sounds like isle but position on the map is away from isle
source is 2019 taipei game developers forum
i will have to wait for the artbook to be on amazon otherwise the import tax would be the same if not higher as the book itself
or atleast wait until thatskyshop will ship from european warehouse
i also absolutely love this version of valley elders, they look like spies (remind me of shadow triad from pokemon) and it somehow makes sense for them to be this profession if you get what i mean?
I mean, being acrobatic and flexible and athletic is prime super-spy material!
Ah yes, Desert and Rain, my favorite times of day
beta lamed was definitely a thing yeah (she looks like granny that would say she will steal your fingers but in her case she would actually literally steal them)
also tiny alef in chuckilng scout outfit is just adorable
¨silly teth
little fellow
also, Lamed’s bird mask in the 3rd picture definitely looks like Thoughtful Director’s mask! TGC was reusing beta concepts that couldn’t initially make the final cut even as early as the very first Seasons.
i dont remember thoughtful director mask looking like nightmare fuel
Well, yeah, they definitely would have had to refine the design from its concept art form into an actual physical model in-game.
spot the difference
hello, i feel like this is the perfect time to ask; is AURORA apart of the Sky lore? if so, what are they?
AURORA is often theorized to be a representation of Megabird, an avatar/mouthpiece of Megabird, or even potentially her own separate goddess!
ShatteredTomte has an excellent list of potential religions the Ancestor culture may have had:
The long and short of it is we don’t have anything concrete as to exactly who or what AURORA is in the grander scheme of things, but she definitely has qualities that lead us theorizers to believe she’s quite a powerful entity.
So, to answer your first question:
Yes.
To answer your second question:
That’s up for debate/depends on your interpretation (not unlike religions/beliefs irl).
thank you!
No problem! For further reading, you can also get number of interesting theories if you search ‘AURORA’ in this channel’s search-box! ^v^
I would be very surprised if they had the exact same proportions as in the game, in general I think the height figures are accurate enough
Very interesting how you can already kinda see the map shrine map in this
I think the most beautiful thing about Season of AURORA is the diverse opinions about what is being portrayed.
Mental Spaces
The concert itself, along with all of the memory versions of the songs that you witness for the questline, happen after you meditate. Whenever we meditate, we enter either partway or fully into what the official Sky artbook calls "Mental Spaces".
From there, many players begin to start having questions about the Spirit team of the Season, and about AURORA herself of course, who we only see in the concert.
Spirits
The Spirits are still confusing, and we don't all agree on what exactly they are. Some theorists believe them to be real characters who existed in the Ancestor kingdom, while others see them as representing roles but perhaps not needing to be real characters themself.
What's real?
Because we only see AURORA in the Mental Space created for the concert, it could mean that AURORA isn't 'real', and is just created by someone's mind, whether of skykids or those four Spirits. But many people believe that we can only picture AURORA like this because this is the real personnified form that The Light could take, if only on this strange spiritual/mental plane.
My personal interpretation is that the four Spirits created this visual idea of her. In my idea, it's their religion, but not what's 'actually' representative of the 'real' Megabird.
Creating a super-powerful Shared Space allowed them to make their dreams of meeting and sharing about their goddess a 'reality'.
I just feel like this is a good compromise on making the entire concert 'canon' while not dismissing the 'Truth' of the Megabird, but also giving due homage to various theorist's immense passion for believing that The Light has a human form in the goddess AURORA.
But that's just my opinion, and everyone has different takes! There are some who see AURORA directly as "the goddess", which is just as valid as anyone else's idea.
hi tom
she seems bit taller to me
sorry i forgot that part had acolytes Lamed is just so gorgeous here
"Look, but dont make it too obvious."
Ash: 👁️ 👁️
her robe is very flovy
sorry
Is our skykid dying? There's no light
what
Look they don't have any light
it's a glitch or smth
please put ot into another chat where it fits the topic better
Skykids have forever been cursed with weird lighting
If your skykid died from a lack of Light I think we'd all be in trouble
The black moon howls
Oh I love this glitch. If it’s what I think it is, it’s the lightless bug. Takes a bit of practice to trigger right, but you can get cool palettes for cosmetics.
Do we know if we see any shots of the round, Light-symbol shields from GW in TTE trailers? I know we’ve got some solid ones of the diamond/starburst shields.
I took some screenshots before and during the Mega Concert. I'm curious how a spear is able to pierce a shield
And I can't really stop thinking about the battle scene from the Seed of Hope's memory in the concert. It seems like that warrior in the middle is struggling to stay alive 😭
It can absoutely pierce a shield if the spear is made out of a stronger material and the shield is a weaker material. You also have to consider the size of the spear too... Which is intresting
Judging by the size of the spear I assumed it belonged to the Wasteland Elder.
Excuse the low quality screenshot. Something I noticed during the “Runaway” portion of the AURORA concert, after we fly past the Isle Temple (you can see the Isle Elder inside the doorway too, which is cool) is that the Eden in the background already has the giant crystal, or a floating island, it seems. It could just be a naturally floating island at the top of the mountain, as we see instances of floating island everywhere, but I wonder what you guys think, because I assumed this portion of the concert showcased a time before the construction of Eden.
I like the idea of different art movements in different points of history. I think we can see that in the different realms’ architecture and clothing, too.
i thought everyone knew Lamed wears porpoil
from her in-game appearance, it's blue (memory) or black (orbit)
from two embers, it's dark blue (trailer from last year) or purple (trailer from this year)
yes!
you can compare the size of the battlefield spears vs the spears in the seed (both regular version and concert version)
the battlefield spears are clearly much bigger
and, if you match their design with the spear by tsadi's alter within GW temple, it's evident that those huge spears belong to tsadi!
(not like the spirits are strong enough to hurl them, anyway)
did he drop his entire armory hell there's so many
that's why i'm more of a believer in the Wasteland Giants Corps than Tsadi losing waay too much weaponry
This could be methaporical. “I cant take it anymore.” as we look on Eden castle. Maybe Resh own words.
I think she’s definitely a religious figure of some kind, I personally see her as seperate from Megabird, sort of as a representative/spokesperson! When I was listening to the orbit theme during the concert I thought about how having a voice is unique to Aurora in the world of Sky, as she talks during the concert and her vocals can be heard in Sky’s soundtrack outside of her own songs, but it’s an ability unlike any other entity in Sky
For some reason my first thought was that Aurora has a voice because she’s “blessed” by the Megabird. Initially, I believed that she was a spirit/ancestor that gained a goddess-like status because of something she achieved, but that wasn’t really based on anything lol, and I’m not so sure about it now. But I kind of prefer the idea that, rather than being an eternal deity or avatar of Megabird, Aurora is a being who actively chose to be who she is. Representative of the Megabird, but as a seperate entity who came to this role because she wanted to, wherever she came from and whatever kind of entity she is. I suppose because in real life, the things Aurora writes music about are things that are important to her as a person. Having this represented with her embodiment in Sky is nice to think about for me, y’know? It’s like, at the end of “through the eyes of a child”, when all the skykids come emerging from The Horrors... she turns and sees us, sees how hopeless we feel, and she opens her arms to take us all in. Not because she’s our goddess and is responsible for us, but because it’s important to her that we feel safe and loved. She saw what was happening in the world, and she cared, so much so that she became a goddess so she could bring us all hope. Because if you look at it in a certain way, that’s what she does in real life :]
Hi btw, this is my first post here I’ve been lurking far too long
I find it breathtaking to see a weapon with that size
Some or most of the swords I've seen are pretty large too. There's one other shield I've seen that had a spear completely gone through it but it hadn't been shattered by the looks of it.
That's a possibility
He probably joined in on the war if that's the case
That's a good theory from you! To me (well in my perspective anyway lol) that we were struggling during the Season of Shattering, trying to get rid of the dark corruptions and when she showed up, she came to comfort us and help us keep going in life.
And yes a part of me is also believing she's a part of the Mega Bird or a Goddess like you said and helps and assists the Mega Bird to help us if we needed their help
I would like to remind you that Granny single-handedly managed to alter the path of red shard eruptions away from her front door so that we could have a nice meal with her in peace.
Yes and she's like, "let the children enjoy their meal in peace
"
her table and fireplace have the safety symbol after all
The parhelion around Eden at the end of Warrior of Love’s concert song pulses in response to your calls.
nugget of lore thought from watching the teaser trailers for Two Embers.
We may have both children in the Two Embers animation project in the game.
The second is recognisable as the guide for season of Revival (the steward)
We know they are seen in the Wasteland (shipwreck/crabfield area and presumably in the tunnels and then later on in Vault.
Their in game counterpart's interest in Eden may be connected to their encounter with the Vault elder from the animation. Possibly because they were made aware of the sacrifice skykids needed to make.
And if true, this makes the steward one of the fallen children, if not aware of the fallen.
The other is who we see traveling with the group in the first teaser, as well as seen with the ancestors we recognise as the ushering stargazer and the rejecting voyager. Their location and relation with the ancestor seen fallen may be connected to seasons of Aurora.
In the song by Aurora, Runaway. Where we see a child traveling with a sickly ancestor and the child has to move on after the ancestor has fallen in Dawn.
I would have liked to include the stories from the Forgetful storyteller. However the story has so many branches and seemingly does not line up with the scenes we see in the teaser trailer. That does not mean it may not still apply as a parody or foreshadowing. The game often uses duality to tell its stories. How two seemingly disconnected events or people are connected together. The connection between these seemingly unrelated elements create a new meaning and bring change.
It has been nearly 4 years since we got the first teaser of this animation project.
And over 6 years of this game's existence.
A lot of fans have waited so long.
I can only hope that when the story finally has its ending. That the wait would be worth it.
‘cause just like the crabs, everything wants to live
is the second image of the spirit wearing a cloth on their head and a overall/dress familiar to the teabrewer from season of Remembrance?
Don't really get the point
"We may have both children in ... two Embers in game"
Well one of them is Alef, confirmed Alef the Dawn ember and the Ember of second part i suppose maybe
If she's going to have any ingame model appear in any shape i will explode
and Stewie who's definitely Stewie
If stewie gets their body and manatee back it will be me who explodes
Why didn't i think of that
I'll list it as a thing to explode about thank you
I also hope the runored time travel will be proper time travel and not just moving bubble like with aurora spirits, i want to experience and explore the past fully
It would explain the lack of proper map expansions in recent seasons
dpkskdmsllslsslsllsmcmxmxm
Even if it is just wasteland and isle/prairie together with maybe eden that gets past version and not all realms, it will still be enough to satisfy me
Im big sucker for being able to explore past and flourishing version of lost civilizations in games
yes amphoreus is absolute blessing for this thank you
i will actually go feral if we get pre shattering eden map
How do we have proof of the other ember being alef?
I am aware of the vague points on the masks, and them being in the Eden void.
Though we have very little, if any, proof of Alef themselves in Sky. Less so than even what we have of the King/ Eden Elder.
Both theories (alef or the Runaway child memory) are a long shot with how vague their evidence are.
Proof are murals in game and his mask looking like baby version of Resh mask.
which murals? The hidden one from the ushering stargazer's memory?
All of Isle murals and memories so far seem to be showing pretty much the same thing as we see in dawn ember part of the switch release trailer and stuff.
Sorry, someone might explain it better, im not really in good state past few days to do any in depth discussions now.
and the stargazer makes much more sense
Hey yall I know many of us are writers so who wants to make a ‘fanfiction’ story where we each write multitudes of journal entries surrounding an agreed upon, canon affirmed plot.
You would use your skid and create your own story, with agreed upon plot points and overall path. This idea is in its infancy so bear with me
If interested please dm! I’ll likely make a server or group for it soon
The thing is... we don't see a single giant fighting, anywhere. There's not really evidence of them existing
That makes a lot of sense, and it fits a lot with Sky's lore!
so then Tsadi lost .... how many of his custom made weapons?
like, the amount of giant weaponry just doesn't make sense, if that would've been the case, even Chirico would look in awe at just how much of his weaponry he outlived
I have some thoughts on this; will send them in a little bit
It's all a mystery really
Oh one more thing, even if you’re not a writer but you’re super into the lore and want to be involved, that is also super super helpful and I’ll add you
OHHHHH RESH! I remember now!t thank you so much <3<3
Pmg which trailer is this?
Thank youu!! :D
It’s important to remember the following:
1.) The Ancestors are generally a lot bigger than us, and the Elders even more so.
2.) We see absolutely no evidence of giants in The Seed part of the Concert. While this is only a small glimpse of the war, you’d think there’d at least be one or two fighting, or we’d see at least one giant body strewn about the field.
3.) They have the tech for catapults, and we see Cannoneer with a harpoon gun in one of the Abyss memories/quests. Wouldn’t be out of the question that perhaps there’s a bigger version of that adapted for war.
4.) We see an average-sized Ancestor using that same size of spear in the Wounded Warrior memory.
Is lamed the last realm elder? Also, since i hear so much more of them do they play a bigger role in sky? :O
Lamed is the Elder for the Vault of Knowledge, yes. You’re hearing more about them because they showed up in the Two Embers trailer.
Ohh i see, the one with the long helmet?
Skyfest 2024.
Me too por favor!
Sweet I’ll send an invite!
wait what are you even talking about?
- that's the point that the weapons found in Wasteland are bigger than the average Ancestor and there's like 10 spears 8 shields and 9 swords in the size that far exceeds your average Ancestor, oh and Tsadi's grave has a giant shield and spear too
2)the bodies strewn around the field are still rather large but they hold onto normal sized weaponry, and they don't wear military clothing, and they do combat on the land that was already devastated by the Shattering so i'm pretty sure the giants just like Tsadi may have all just died long ago - ????????? what does this point even add to the discussion
- nuh uh, check the size again, its an order of magnitude smaller in the memory
ooh, and here's a pretty large guy, i wonder what weapon did he wield during his time in life?
it's a standard sized blade
and i ain't even opposed to the idea that the weaponry stuck in the ground near the gate were thrown down as siege defenses but that still leaves several weapons just left on the ground
it's all just kinda weird to me
Ancestors are lot bugger because we are literal children. A babies. Younger spirits in teen years we meet (passage spirits, hide and seek pioneer etc) are not that much taller than us and are shorter than other adult ancestors. Even warrior of love is A LOT smaller before they become aurora spirit. Stewie is a child too and is as tall as us.
shards, you keep me crawling on my knees
I've seen some spirits wear shoulder-like pads on their upper torso and wear trap-bands on their upper arms. Which meant they were part of the military
Fair enough. I thought even Adult-Size skids (using the spell) weren’t as tall as Ancestors? (I haven’t used that spell in ages, so I could be wrong, and last time I used it I was a shorter height than I am now)
Since you asked, point three was meant to remind of and illustrate the Ancestors’ technological advancements and offer that as a possible alternative to the giant theory. I suggested the idea that since they have the tech for cannons and harpoon guns, it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to assume they could have larger versions of those, meant for battle (simply put: giant spear guns).
Unrelated to my above point, here are the spears thrown in the Wounded Warrior memory:
Hello is there a full lore document somewhere
that sure sounds cool but it still leaves swords and shields in the equation
maybe these were just ornamental and strapped to be used as large projectiles
i don't know
i ain't mad, just curious why there is so much weird changes in scale all across the game
most of the wrecks of boats seem to be wildly different sizes
the weaponry is all around, so are the Ancestors sometimes
it sometimes makes Sky feel more like a dream than a coherent narrative
Yall are obviously experts we need you
Alrighty guys, if i want to get into sky lore: is there somewhere a doc where all the stuff is listed? Preferably in a way that makes sense?
Picking shards out of the discussions here would only make sense if I'm in on the recent news imo lol. My last check in was, idk, 2? years ago

There's a lot of videos online, you also have the lore discussion channel on sky COTL main server so you can ask any questions. But overall these are some important sources of lore.

Wounded Warrior’s friend hides behind a shield in the earlier parts of the memory (didn’t grab pics since I was focused on the spears at the end).
Which wrecks are you referring to? (assuming you’re talking about Forgotten Oasis and Crab fields?) I’d chalk different boat sizes to different cargo/purposes. (Bigger boat=bigger shipments of material or greater number of passengers)
I don’t have a rebuttal nor sound argument for the swords.
For size fluctuations in general, I usually just assume it’s an irl reason. Making new models for every set/level would be too time consuming and expensive. It’s easier to just use a model you already have and tweak it just a little (ie, change its size) and use that to help populate the area.
Another possible overall reason for the size changes could be forced perspective, to make things seem bigger, smaller, closer or further from the viewers position.
These are, of course, my opinions, and you are welcome to your own.
The confusion can make us sound upset, even at each other. I've hurt people before in my own life searching for answers that don't exist.
The hardest thing is accepting the parts of this puzzle that we can't make sense of. Realizing that it was never a puzzle to create our perfect interpretation of, and that in the end, it's just a piece of art. 🕯️ 🕯️ 🕯️
We each have our own guesses and theories for Sky. I enjoy seeing what everyone's point of view is like
Hopeful Steward has to be different in my opinion, they're a skykid just like us. Regular child ancestors are still bigger.

I was going through a parade in between concerts and saw these. Here we have some miners and it looks like people riding some Mantas. Probably racing?
I remember in Warrior of Love's memory, there were some races while riding on some Mantas and she was able to participate because a friend having an injury
