so. in theory, based on everything established at this point in the story, maybe using krill parts to like. shield against the eden darkness with a layer of more manageable darkness? you're still losing light but the density of the dark energy in, like. krill blood and scale plates would probably be lower than direct exposure to eden's darkness. ESPECIALLY if, say, it was a wasteland krill instead of an eden krill, and. basically im reinventing sunscreen
That is a fascinating concept. The wasteland krill have also been a lot.... more forgiving when I get hit by them too (I have like half a dozen videos of getting boinked away instead of losing light).
If it ever helps you with respect to completing your fic, I'm happy to be a listening ear or a beta reader.
only if ur ok with it being a. very obscure self indulgent crossover. the protag is best described as "imagine if a newly fallen moth started with immense trauma, survivors guilt and blood on their hands"
Nothing wrong with crossovers. and isn't all fic writing self indulgent to some degree?
But yeah, Love this concept feel free to DM me any time.
fic best described as:
im gonna have so much fun with this. two kids running through a radioactive wasteland wearing armour made of slightly less radioactive materials and itll somehow work. They are sooooo smart
I love this theory😍. It makes perfect sence and is more or less how I imagined the passage spirit.
Isle of down is deffinetly the oldest of all the realms, and
likely the place where sky sociaty first developed, before further migrations happened on the sky continent.
Its likely that even as the generations passed and the other realms rose in power and influance, Isle still perserved many of the old traditions and wisdom from the early fire era, and would share it with anyone interested
i just realized that the vault of knowledge isn't some void and is actually a giant building
ive determined that skykids possess a few powers, lmk if any adjustments are needed:
- ability to create fire/use light magic (this one is obvious since, look at the title of the game)
- ability to levitate certain objects; therefore levitation powers
- we have the ability to float/levitate OURSELVES and do cool things while suspended in the air
- we possess extreme durability due to being created half from darkness, therefore we are much much stronger than the spirits who were unable to withstand the effects of the darkness/pollution. also, we are able to possess more wing power than them (we can collect over 200 whilst spirits only have 1).
Do we ever see a sky kid use fire magic?
There's the candle, yes, but it's more like taking out a part of their soul I suppose (since the little light on the chest disappears when the candle is out, and becomes black when extinguished). Like, they are fire, but it doesn't mean they can create fire.
The only example that comes to mind is cackling cannoneer's lv... 2? 4? emote, which generates flames, though I have to admit I don't usually pick up the decorative emote levels. And said effects don't have a measurable impact in the world.
I've gone on a bit of a tangent here, sorry. Your other points seem fine. I've personally always seen the sky kid's body to be like, clay or stone, since we make interesting noises going over hard surfaces like stone and ice even while barefoot.
yeah, we do seem to be made of clay or stone, i agree with u on that.
and yeah i said fire magic bc i was thinking of the candles we pull out.
dw bout the tangent lol it helps 👍
I sat about to think more on the matter, and I think I have my thoughts organized to discuss it, but it helps to understand it in the context of the Ancestors.
So, we have a number of spirits who use magic, most who seem to be scholars in Vault with Levitating Adept, Polite Scholar, and Meditating Monastic. Passage Guide I suppose also uses magic, to enchant the masks they make.
Indifferent Alchemist I thought used magic, but now that I see the name, it might be some sort of crafted potion instead. Even if it is magic, their ability was insufficient for what they were attempting (to produce water?).
The murals we see on the Ark and Prophecy cave depict some sort of orb magic too, though it seems to be more of a power source that can be tapped into, much like how the Enchantment Guide had with the collected coloured orbs.
I think only some of the Ancestors were able to use magic (just the Scholars? maybe only some of them? and the Elders too probably), and our present day Sky Kids are particularly gifted, to pick it up just from the imprinted memory of the spirit. (There is something that makes Sky kids different after all, we see the murals, that sky kids have similar icons to depictions of ancestors, except they have the
icon overlaid them.)
I think for everyone else, they used these magic orbs to have the effects of magic without necessarily the technical knowledge, and this magic can be crystalized into blessings.
for some reason i didnt notice the very obvious 5 chairs + 1 in the middle in the final part of eden until today lol
wish i got a better view but you can kinda make out some of the shapes
if they're even chairs tbh the slope doesn't look very comfortable lmao
It's similar looking to the vault one- tho I think the vault one is more like statues then chairs
It is possible to say skykids knows healing magic. Although this might be a bit complicated.
Skykids are being made of light/fire.
They can share thier light/fire with other skykids.
Ergo, a skykid can be healed/charged with fire. Which would include other skykids.
Healing people with the power of arson!
However, I do wonder if light and dark plants work the same. Like the one we see in Hidden Forest where we see the light mushroom thingy (idk the name) and dark plants seem to exist/co-exist
And would it apply the same if darkness affected the mushroom light thingy like how we interact with dark plants?
If it helps a few years back we called that kid the shiny kid, because they quite literally glowed. Which means they do have light of their own
I found some pictures of before and after the change ( imo they looked prettier back then )
They didn't shine bright like a diamond
lore chat what have u guy's interpreted from this

The ancestors drained light from mantas to power darkstone, and as the murals show, bigger creatures produce more light and can power more diamonds. So my interpretation is that they tried to genetically engineer an artificial elder manta, presumably to power Infinite Diamonds or something, but it backfired when it got corrupted and destroyed the place.
The season of Abyss gave use an interesting look into what ancestors do with light creatures. But at the same time does not explain what that is exactly XD.
The mural on the left show ancestors bringing mantas inside and keeping them in the columns. Another rooms shows the mantas being handled and brought to a priest-like figure.
The mural on the right shows what seems like the floors under the tower (which conveniently is where the priest figures were going to through the doors).
It is uncertain what they do exactly in those scenes with the mantas.
It does seem like the larger mantas were given more care than smaller ones.
Lastly, the bottom most floor shows the elder creature that we may accept as the leviathan. Possibly before it became corrupted, although it is also possible the mural depicts the corrupted leviathan.
Beyond that, the story is open for debate.
My take is the mantas may have been used to charge up the diamonds.
There were many theories that followed similar ideas, while others differed.
Everyone is allowed to draw their own conclusions based on their interpretations of what may have happened.
The devs just dropped a massive lore bomb on us without context (What season of abyss is)
Sky has seasons, lol.
Each season has a name and usually come with a area it takes place in.
Season of Abyss takes place in Treasure Reef, where you meet a crew of sea fairing scavengers looking to gather as many diamonds they can get their hands on.
On of the crew members happens to enjoy the competition with your skykid though, wherein some high jinx ensues.
Ngl I like how they when "Oh we have someone new joining us! Be nice to them, okay?" to us xD
I would not put it past the cackling canoneer to 'accidently' toss a skykid overboard.
Also, unrelated note is the darkness/light related since without darkness there's no light, and without light, there's no darkness? Idk the saying- I maybe got it wrong
I like to think that Sky has some philosophy to its meanings.
Not that the game would put this up on the surface for players, but when one looks deeper into the lore, some concepts would come to mind.
One of which is that of Yin and Yang. ☯️
Where in the Light, there is a bit of Darkness. And in Darkness, there is a bit of Light.
Both may not be directly related to each other, but they are connected to create balance.
do any of you know wether there is a place/file/other form of document with every mural?
there's a collection on the wiki https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Murals
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Here is one by a user called Salem. 👍
ty
Fun fact the circle between the yin and yang is what balances them apart
It's the barrier that keeps them separate and co-existing with each other- then what's the barrier for sky?
The realms.
Darkness is in the shadows, the light shines down on the realms.
The Sky is what you see when its night, and when it is day.
Perhaps that is why we are called Skykids. Because we can be in both the dark and the light.
Just like the Sky.
the.. what?
Would you be able to give a picture perhaps?
I assume you mean the part between Eye of Eden, and the Orbit among the stars
That part is the eye of the storm, around the light beam
It's simply part of the journey, the last step, until we leave the mountain behind and reach the Light to ascend and be reborn
We are the manifestation of yin and yang itself!
Tho.. We know that darkness is a bad thing in The Sky since it shows corruption and pollution
What about light? If too much darkness is bad what would light be?- would sky kids finally be free from their bodies and become celestial beings??
I would not be sure, tbf.
I imagine too much light in sky would mean the end of life. Since that could mean everything would be burned to a crisp.
Leaving the realms sterile. Which is also bad.
Although this is not the case as it seems, seein that darkness is the force out of balance here.
Darkness itself may not be inherintly evil. However the corruption of darkness is.
I think corruption in hidden forest happen naturally while in wasteland is pure pollution-
And true all light creatures would become one as light and the realm would become a very empty wasteland.. And maybe a darkness kid would born! (hehe, idk xD)
Yeah, I think forests happen naturally even tho the elder in hidden forest create dark crystals-
Tho I still wonder why hidden forest rain hurt us?
I think the rain is like the dark liquid in the golden wasteland. It’s a polluted water by-product of the dark crystal manufacturing process. It also reminds me of the phenomenon of acid rain.
Then shouldn't the water in the hidden forest be affected by it too?? I can see why the tree turns white and looks petrified thanks to the rain- but the water isn't affected by it.
Unless.. There's a big river that connects to a sea that filters out the water in hidden forest, but idk
I had a theory about that a while back: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
The shortened version is Eden has a relentless storm that can spread to the other realms. It is possible that the rain in the Forest has been affected. However a possible theory why the water on the ground does not drain light may be one of two things:
- Game play balancing with the realm introduced to new players and the devs may want to add the water hazard later on in the game (hence dark water).
- The natural plants in the area are drawing in the polluted water and purifying it in the ground. Which has lead to the trees being poisoned/drained of light and thus leafless.
Note, it is also possible the trees in forest were modelled without leaves as it may have been difficult for the devs to model so many trees in the area. Thus chalking it up to the game with its limitations.
This is furhter supposed with how few we see leafy trees in the game.
Seeing how the Wisteria and Blossome tree are one of the few trees in bloom with flowers/leaves.
Now that's a good response! The tree is doing the hard work and the ground too, ngl even though it is a theory, I like it very much
There's a cutscene that only shows up in the first playthrough where your skid shivers in cold when they first get damaged from the rain. Not to discredit yhe other theories, but if we were to use Occam's razor, it's pretty clearly implied that it takes away our energy simply because it's cold
i have a question. do we know if the chants that you hear upon entering isle and right before rebirth contain words? in a different language maybe? because if so i'd really love to know what they're saying
also (unrelated to my previous question), if aviary is kind of meant to be the new home, what would the original home be..? the original home has already been mysterious enough to me, let alone now that we'll have a new home and it'll just kind of be floating around in the middle of nowhere..
it also makes no sense because our home is supposed to be in the clouds (according to the text from opening sequence), which is exactly where aviary seems to be set, but the original home space.. it's surrounded by endless water, not clouds, which makes it all the more mysterious and strange
Sup lore friends, today I accidently punched through the wind paths barrier.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to replicate it yet, but here's the footage, as well as some mostly clear-ish screen grabs
seems like if there is a hole it's not there yet, but there is a tiny island there (which is probably the shadow I saw earlier)
There's a pretty strong wind wall there, or I would have tried to land
I thought we were made of wax. It's the right color, and light can shine through it, so it would make sense to me.
The entrances to the other wind paths all represent the respective area they connect to, and this structure here, without the fireworks, is similar to the structure on the island from the clip. So I still think Flight is the last quest's season, but now I have stronger proof of it.
The first 3 powers really just seam like regular traits of light energy. Floating is of course shared by all creatures of light, and levetating other objects is just a more advanced ability (which voult ancesters and other highter up ancesters seam to be able to to to some extent). The fire/light magic stuff is also something that much more skilled ancesters, as well as the Elsers were able to do
All 3 could even be done arteficially by ancesters in the past, from crafting spells and other special itams to crytal tech (no need to explain more on that😅 )
So I dont think these are "unique traits" of skykids as much as a result of our growing undersanding and mastery light , and being the hosts of 100+ souls that lend us a part of there power😅
The 4th one is also not entirely true. Spiits are the "spirits" of the sky people that existed in the past. They also had a phisical body and a light soul similar to us. They only trully unique trait for skykids as far as abileties go is (like I said before) that we are able to carry within us the souls (wing light) of other people, while the ancesters could not
The chants sung by a woman? It’s gibberish sounds, like she is using her voice as an instrument (fun fact, the singer is AURORA and there is an IAP-instrument which uses her voice)
ahhh i see. yeah i know that i was just wondering if she was actually saying something. thanks!
I would not say the song in the ascension (and Dawn intro as well) are gibberish.
The intend seems more along the lines of vocalising in a language that is either unknown to us (the player and skykid), and/or is not meant to be translatable.
Which in turn implies the wording in the song have no direct meaning.
Singers would vocalize to allow their emotions to come forward in a way that would imply words but not with a particular meaning.
It is similar to humming, where the focus lies in the rhythm or tone.
It can be related to meditation or chanting. As an emotional expression, which can be used as part of an artistic performance.
Coming back to the original point though to respond to the question by @proud fern .
Aurora was the voice for these songs and has played a key role in one of the seasons.
As far as I recall when Aurora was asked about the meaning for her songs in the main game (moreover the vocalisation sections), her response was that there is no direct meaning to the humming or vocals.
I would even include a key hint in the game that says, "Sound is more than half of the experience."
Keyword sound. Not words.
This game can get pretty deep if one knows where to start digging, lol.
It’s okay! You can cry

oh hush, bot.
I'll get some sleep instead.
Last post on the matter, but I got in and landed this time (it's easier if you take it at an angle with the jet stream, just like if you were entering starlight desert), and try and latch onto the island edge.
(not visible in these images are the amount of ripples the water is going through)
huh, that makes sense. i mean these vocals do make me emotional for sure, as if they do have words/meaning/are telling a story. plus that also makes sense because then it's "understandable" by everyone regardless of what language we speak, since we'll just be receiving the feelings through sound.
now i really wanna know what was going through Aurora's head or what feelings she was experiencing while she was singing
On domesticated animals there doesn't seem to be "land" based animals in the lore - like a wolf or a dog or cattle or sheep. While it need not mirror earth like land creatures there is a big lack of those kind of four legged creatures in Sky. Why is that?
Most of the realms are high above the clouds, with only a few that are on the ground (which are dominated by crabs mostly...)
Generally.. probably aesthetic, mostly.
Both birds and aquatic animals (that are largely able to fly in Sky) have a sense of freedom that normal ground-based animals don't. They have a flow and grace to their movement that feels very aerodynamic, able to glide through air, along streams, float up and down, and generally make a good companion to Skykids.
Also, this sort of freedom matches the larger world building of sky - light creatures migrate (a thing that birds irl do) towards the Eden mountain to ascend to the Light, and be reborn, as a cycle of life.
It is at least heavily implied, with all the fur capes and animal masks from passage, that there are -or were- more mammal-like animals, even if we haven't seen any yet. But it might be that they were very different organisms from other light creatures we have seen so far.
Hello! I've been playing sky for a while but I don't really have much knowledge about the lore, is there a place to start reading?
Pinned comments
thank you!!
Not really.
Isle of down and starlight desert dont have any crabs, while forest is actually preaty hight up for the most part and thats full of crabs
Not saying there isnt some conection, but It deffinetly not as streight forward as that
Home also has no crabs
Home should get crabs
Not saying there isn't crabs in high up places, but there's like... 7 in Forest compared to the numbers we see in Sanctuary and Wasteland (two areas that are below the cloud layer)
Maybe they were brought there by the ancestors. maybe they were introduced via red shards, but the environment doesn't really support them effectively.
the areas with crabs are also wet, and Isle is a desert now, for the most part. Valley is probably too cold for crabs outside of the temple itself.
But hey, this is why I shouldn't lore post when I'm not ready to dump a full paragraph
No no, its not a bad post. Like I said there is some corolation, to it.
I just didnt want people to get the wrong idea or jump to conclusions😅
Overall crabs don't really naturally show up in sunny places i feel
In sanctuary they're in caves, same for forest and valley
Then eden and GW are just dark
Though the vault is surprisingly free of crabs outside of that one little maze thing
Honestly, I think it does make sence that crabs would moatly be found in the lowlands, as unlike sky creatures, they have no flight ability and ( as you said) seam to be conected to water.
Though I will also say that crabs are more affiliated with dark places, and otherwise regions inflicted with darkness.
-Waistland and Foreat are obviace examples
-Sanctuary does have them a lot ( boath hostile and harmfull), but that place also has the dark gaiser, and evidence of shipwereched boats and containers that look just like the ones found in the shipyard, so its possible a lot of darkness ended up getting buried deep in the earth to prevent it from spreading ( hence the large darkness tree and all the crabs in the cave)
-And lets not forget the crabs in the laberynth in Valley main temple ( which also contains dark plants)
I don't think the giant darkness plant in sancturary was purposefully buried
It seems like it grew there
No no no
I didnt say it was planted.
I said there's a lot of darkness buried in sanctuarry, which alowed the dark plants to grow, crabs to infest, and dark blobs to pop out from the gazer
The one common theme of all crab locations i feel is the lack of sunlight, along with the fact that they stay near the ground within those places
Well they kinda have to, they cant fly😅
They also seam to dig into the ground, so there preaty earthbound
Though crabs themselves don't seem to inherently be darkness like the plants and krill, since you can find a number of healthy harmless crabs who just leave you alone.
might just be they got... poisoned, I suppose, by the darkness there.
We also see a few ancestors interact with crabs (Pleaful Parent and the belly pat spirit whose name eludes me) so it seems at the time the memory was left, the crabs were not aggressive.
I feel like the crabs may have just been unlucky in that their natural environment happens to line up with where darkness grows most
Very likely
We do see in concept art that there were light crabs considered at one point
On the other hand, we dont entirely know what crabs are for the most part. They seam to be born from the earth itself.
I've seen real crabs bury themselves in sand for protection. could be that too.
It's a bit of a shame we don't really have any other examples of uncorrupted and corrupted creatures save for crabs. it'd be easier to figure out the rules with more examples.
-On the one hand they are counted among jellyfish and mantas as souls that become part of the edan diamomd
-On the other, they look like there made out or solid rock in all the cinematics, and they pop out of nowhere from the earth whenever the shard falls, and then return to it once its cleared, almost like its the earth itself given life
There is a lot more to these little guys then meats the eye🤔
oh, is it really from nowhere? I assumed they just came in with the shard (which is partially embeded in the ground), but I suppose I usually miss seeing red shards land.
I did notice this recently.
They pop out a few momenrs after the shard lands, and then did there way back into the groub once its cleared
I wonder if the weird behavior is because of the shard. kinda like those fungi that take over ant brains.
But I guess there a) isn't enough information to go off of, and b) is technically an abstaction for gameplay purposes (but diagetic answers are more fun)
It might be possibe that, as we have pure light beings like butterfly, light creatures who are mostly light with phisical bones, and sky kids/ancesters that like a mostly even split between light and phisical ( give or take)that crabs themselfs are mostly phisical with a bit of light in them ( like the earth itself enbued with light energy)
Thought this is still a working theory, Im not makeing any concreat clames right now
Good point about there not being enough information. Thats why Im hessitent to make deffinetive clames about crabs
However, speaking purely in terms of theory, I think the cordyseps ( fungus infecting insects) idea is preaty good and plossible☺️
i just notice almost all light creature have only one eye
Whale, manta, seal(is that a seal or something out)
I finally got a picture of this thing! Thanks to red shared turning the sky dark/red it looks like a giant manatee with a drill
It looks like a platypus too..
Are they related to great mantas?
Wait what's that
At Sanctuary Island the thing circling the island
I never saw it was there
Looks strange, makes me think of a drawing
I guess you're not supposed to see it that well
It's the one that dives in the water like a dolphin
Never noticed it before
It's big- how??-
Never looked for it because i didn't know about it, and had no reason to stare at the water in the distance
Most of my sanctuary visits have been to collect the WL
Even during the quest?? Cuz that thing appears during the final quest- unless it was a very long time ago for you
Haven't done quest yet
I'm a 5 weeks old moff
And the main reason I didn't take a picture of it- it's because Sanctuary Island is very bright- it's hard to take a pic of it-
OML XDD NO WONDER! Ngl it is a fun quest
I just got my 11th wing a couple hours ago
Now i have pretty symbol on cape
Ooh! What cape?
The current seasonal purple and yellow cape
I love it because with the ambient lighting it often moves towards wine red and gold
Ooh! Yeah it is a good cape and good for you!
Anyways back to lore
This thing does have growths on its back that remind me of the wings of the elder cosmic manta of vault
But the rest of its body looks very different from mantas
It reminds me of manatee with a drill/beak
And you can find manatee in season of moment- they usually lay on the beach
I just think of a very long and beeg manatee when i see it
Don't really see a drill
It's more of a beak xD idk why I call it a drill- it looks like a platypus too
Tbh I don't remember how it appeared since it was 2 months ago- since I finished the quest
I still have so many quests to do
So many guides everywhere
My first time seeing I thought it was an elderly manta (I didn't get to see it that much thanks to Sky blinding my eyes with how bright it is)
Who will win : a little child or the unmatched power of the sun
You can try asking Viska about it, maybe they know about it?
I'll probably ask when i get around to doing sanctuary quest
Rn i have dreams, prophecy, moments, performance and TLP done
Passage is like half done
Rest untouched
Yeah, that's better, tbh sorry for spoiling it for you (a bit-)
Most of the quests you do aren't hard unless for prophecy, TLP, and passage- the rest is easy tbh, good luck!
Oh don't apologize
I chose to come in this channel because me curious
Because i wanna learn about cozy sky game
Yeahh, but it would be cool if you figured it out/found it by yourself! Kinda ruin the fun but noted
Oh right i also forgot i did shattering in the process of getting all 116 light children that one time
And i was told the first 4 seasons have no guide remaining
So i guess i'm close to halfway done?
Ye, you have enchantment, sanctuary and abyss left I think
Enchantement
Abyss
Rememberance
Half of passage
Assembly
Flight
Aurora
Honestly take your time xD and ima stop flooding this channel now-
YOOO SKY SPIRITS HAS TABLETS??
Or is that a book?
I won't say I'm surprised since Vault is pretty advanced they might have a screen-like tablet thingy
Since we have a camera in the game and the possibility of Spirit owning something like that is unlikely
I think its a book, since the spirit name is timid bookworn ?
Yeah looks like a book to me
With the diamonds on it, maybe it's about darkstone and stuff?
Ah my eyes might be blurry then
Possibly!
I wish we could read that book ourselves
Probably hard for TGC to do.. But we can have a spirit read us the book
lore book merch when
Season of books!
Season of lore
The time for us closet gremins to rise from the soil and tell everyone about the silly sky game's history and mysteries
It has a beak! @hushed steeple is this consider a manta as well? Or an elder manatee
Apologies for bringing up an old topic - a counter to that is that the skykids can withstand the coldness of the Valley of Triumph and Orbit without losing light. So I think the rain is polluted.
Oh its a manta alright🤩
the biggest manta of them all
Ooh! Here's a detailed one (sadly the beak isn't detailed)
Where are you getting these?
I took the picture myself, during the red shard and geyser
Also, are Manatee and Manta related?
Good idea
Man this photography feature is really awsome
And the reason why I took it cuz, during the red shard-
hard to tell
My guess is that there related closer to each other then anything else we curently have living in sky
I want a manatee honk, I bet it sounds like Yoshi-
Anyways, is Sanctuary Island considered the natural habitat of Mantas?
I think that would probably be Priery peaks
Prairie peaks? Which one is that-
One moment, let me go to my gallery
I don't think the rain is polluted because that rain has been a since since back when the spirits were alive, and also rain happens in prairie peaks during moments quest
And also also none of the water bodies in rainy areas are polluted
This place
This is most likely there main habitat since we see them sleaping about peacefully, though they would naturally go out into the wider regions for food and fun like most creatures do
I remember the TLP quest had a big manta showing up and taking some dives
Ooh! Season of moment!
I don't see any Mantas tho.. Wouldn't that mean they are related but different species?
Also, I find it cute at how they fly and the noises they make qwq
Well they are different species ( as far as the concept of species aply to sky creagures)
Fair I guess, they aren't Digimon-
Not all light creatures are mantas yeah
You may be able to plop a manta on a whale to make a silly hat, but i can't see more connection than that
I would imagine at the time of the season's first run, Sanctuary would be a safe habitat for mantas for the following reasons:
- The season quests shows us small mantas appearing from the water and they get progressively bigger with the later quests. The last quest shows us an elder manta.
- Having an elder creature in an area should be a sign of the environment being sustainable enough to support such large creatures.
- Based on the concept art attached. I would say the devs have considered that the life cycle of mantas would include them living in water and then moving to the air to migrate to Eden. This is supported with the Sanctuary quests showing mantas rising from the waters, as well as in Aurora's quest often include water as a starting point, and then progressing to towards Eden/Orbit. (I should investigate that thought, come to think of it
) - Mantas are based on the real world mantarays. Despite the obvious suspension of disbelief with the Mantas of Sky able to fly with seemingly little to no effort. The devs have stated that they often look to marine animals for inspiration for their creatures. Because their graceful movement in the water makes for fantastical feel when juxtaposed in the air (meaning to combine/overlap two seemingly unrelated elements).
is aurora our big sky mama
Manatees on the other hand seem to call Prairie Peaks home though.
Viksa was right about that 👍
Well they are different species ( as far as the concept of species aply to sky creatures)
I just said that there probably closely related to each other ( at least more then the other creatures)
Oooh, thanks dear☺️
I'll call them Sky Yoshi's
Well
There's the relation of being light creatures ig
Well, either way! They are related to light in other ways Aster said xD
Not sure why they'd be particularly related together aside from both being very cute though
all light creatures are to some extent (including sky people0
Yoshi sky are bascially chonky smol mantas getting overfed by sky kids (change my mind. Also /j /h)
🤣
Ngl I would like to imagine some spirit decides to move on from their past and be reborn as a creature of light
Rn the light creatures we know of i think are
All manta kinds
Manatees
Jellyfish
Butterflies
Birds
Whales
That big creature in sanctuary
Possibly the leviathan could've once been a light creature (only speculation based on abyss murals)
Sky kids
YESS

I think there's also some light fish? Can't remember for sure
Your makeing this too easy🤣
Ya forgot the spikey ghostie creature in vault
The elder cosmic manta?
I will find them,one secund
I have one of the said fish le sun fish
That is so sweet. 🙂
We (as in anyone who is curious enough, I would probably some time, lol), should look into Polynesian folklore.
Imagine skykids like the coconut folks, lol.
All of these and more
I mean not all spirits just some that decide to yk- "My knowledge has been passed down to my fellow students, and I wish to be reborn as a creature of light when my time is near" (if the spirit died naturally ofc)
I would like to imagine it before the Eden/War happen
Oh wow That's a lot
I could see that ☺️
Though Im guessing only more spiritual ancesters, or ones with trully content and fulfilled lifes could do/choose that, like some isle of down, priery and a few from other regions🤔🤔
What do you think?
In universe I imagine there must be a lot more diversaty of fish. These are like representatives🤔
I think yeah! Btw this is just a theory/headcanon xD since reborn is a topic in Sky and I think it would be cool-
If some spirit does that
I mean, this is pure theorizing/sky story territory. There's no actual evidence for this in game, so Im going with what makes sence with the vibes of the game world so far☺️
Personally my life will be complete when TGC adds a pettable whale somewhere
Must
Pet
Big boi
This is an idea that, while very likely not canon, is still interesting to imagine. It doesnt contradict established lore enough to be compleatly rejected
I WOULD LIKE TO RIDE THEM LIKE
A summon flute item that calls a whale for us to travel the realm (ofc not a big one)
And bonus! A whale music sheet for us to summon it xD
OMG THAT WOULD BE AMAZING🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I think something like that might be a bit op for a sky kid to do, but imagine a aurora style timed event where a bunch of us gather around playing, and the whales takes us on a Hawaiian (Sanctuary😅 ) roller coster ride
Tbh yeah xD
neat concept to be used in fan art or fan fic though.
I mean
Sky kids are op
Near indestructible, psychic power, fire immunity and able to share light, incredibly athletic, can just summon objects...
Teleporting aka warping to a friend/player
Maby in a future days of nature event, we help out sanctuary even more, and its like
Elder Manta: You guys did me so many solids, Im gonna let you have this
Sky kids are basically wholesome superheroes
I think the OP part is the fairness to other players. There's very little in the game that is mechanically locked behind stuff, and most of it is just access to a specific area.
I think the only one is the surfboard from days of sunlight.
Like imagine at the end of a future quest line, Elder Manta comes up close, openes his mouth, and drops a bunch of musical conch as new itam😅
old veteran proceeds to park entire whale at home in front of the moths
thats what I was going for actually😁 👍
Thanks @dusk zephyr
SOMEONE DO FANART OF THAT
NOOOOW!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩
(Note: must be wearing sunglasses)
Ngl seeing a manta open its mouth might be terrifying xD since they are flat- and have you seen a real Mantaray mouth since Manta are inspired from that
and I guess ancesters technicly
Us and them are kinda in the middle area
I know, but elder manta has beak remember
Plus, I refuse to belive sky mantas work that way🤣
OH YEAH XD
I forgot xDD, well that's good
I feel like sky kids fall quite clean in light creature category, given that we make the same trip to orbit as other light creatures and spend the game sharing our light with the world
Also reminds me
Is it just me, or do the mantas we release from the forest temple look black and extinguished kind of?
fair point, but I kinda feel thats what the ancesters might have done (to a much lesser extent) at the start, before they got too dependent on crystal tech
Though maby thats just me😅
Yup
They were stuck there for a long time😅 (the poor things)
And pleese dont ask me about why there back again after rebirth. The game is exactly the same no mater how many times you go through, its just gameplay
The ancestors may have shared light before, but with them it doesn't look like they have a heart of light to take out and share light with using their very own being
More like using chimes and candles and stuff to do so
Not even just after rebirth
Pretty sure you can repeat the cutscene at like 5mins of interval
Some repeatable stuff doesn't really function lorewise as repeatable
Im actually traing to figure that part out really.
Becouse the intro does say "we were given birth from starlight" so ancesters do have light within them, as we too are stars
Ancesters do seam to be more in the very middle of light and material originally
Wait
When you say the intro do you mean the murals at the start of isle ?
I might have to visit those again
yes
Ancestors are even more similar to sky kids than i thought wow
And this is the Aviary mural
I like to imagine these as two different retellings of the same story, the same way as we have different versions for the same myths and legends in our world
Yeah
The steward puts more emphasis on that they lost their light, it didn't magically go away
It's clearly the same story being told : they arrive, create thriving kingdoms until they lose their light
But the isle mural doesn't quite mention that they're responsible for what happened
Good point☺️
I do wonder if the steward means that they chose to come down though
The isle mural says "we're born from starlight" which yeah makes sense
But steward specifically uses the wording "the first descended to build a kingdom", like they had the express intention and goal of doing this when arriving
That could be the ancestors who built the kingdoms?
The first who descended could also have been the elders though?
In both cases it does clearly state that they're creatures of light born from the stars
But in steward's version, it sound like coming down to the world was a deliberate choice
That could make sense, each elder does have their own kingdom (except ig valley where they are a pair)
That is an interesting idea
If we are looking at this from an in-universe perspective, it deffinetly feels like the comeing of the new sky kinds and the healing of the world was somethig of a prophesy for the ancesters that lived at the end of there era.
With that in mind, this story was formed in the dark age, with the last survivors of Isle creating the murals in there caves, while the stuward doing the same in the Aviary, but being eather more critical of there race, or more in the know of what really happened🤔
And it'd line up with them being called elders : the ones who were first born into this world
Like I said now, this could be just a case of 2 different perspectives
In isle of down the ancesters are talking about themselfs as a group, while in Aviary the steward is talking about the ancesters in the third person
Yeah i did agree that it's the exact same story
And here i'm pointing out that one of the two sheds more light on the story than the other
Also the steward isn't talking in third person here
He's using "we" as a pronoun : he includes himself as part of the group
I suppose this suggests the storm around eden used to be worse in the time of the ancestors, if it blotted out the light.
Agree
Thats the fun thing about finding different version of the same story☺️
Well
Not during their time, since back then they had plenty of light to the point where they took it for granted
The storm in eden likely didn't even exist before the shattering, given that they built a castle and everything there
So if the storm was worse at one point it would've been at the end of their time, not during
In the concept art its outwright stated that things did calm down after a while (give or take a hundered years😅 ), and that it is only when things stabilised a bit and were not gonna get better on there own when the first sky kid come down
(And yes, what @light minnow said is true. The storm marked the end of ancester civilization )
sorry sorry yeah like at the end when it shattered.
since time has passed and new starlight was finally able to fall again.
I do wonder what the world looked like just before the shattering though
How much corruption/darkness had already been caused by the ancient's lack of care? How long did the crystal last before shattering, ect...
Funny you should ask😅
Yeah i guess the show will answer my questions here
concept art shown in one of the trailers does conferm that Waistland was once green when the kingdom was at the hight of its power
although this part of the newest railer kinda throws me off as far as the exact timeline of events is consern
There are some very crutial and critical data were missing that is stoping us from tieing all the peaces together into one unified timeline
So the dried sea happened before the shattering
Maybe that's caused by the ancients over exploting the region
I wonder if maybe the way to treat the world and light in general could've had a role in the war, when it comes to ideology and stuff
Until I can see that for myself, I dont feel comortable comenting on this
sorry for interrupting and the bad picture quality (am playing on the tv rn), but anybody know what these clouds on top of aviary village are. i am standing on top of the big ruin at the entrance area, facing towards eden
We don't know yet no, but the village's revival isn't finished yet, there's still more to come
On my phone they just look like regular clouds
Or do they🤔
okok ty... thought ist might be skys kingdom, but then edens olacement wouldnt make sense
Teh clouds are also way too close and small for that
There's glitches allowing you to reach them iirc
yeah... sadly
That and also some of the area are at ground level
Im on location, where did you see those cluds exactly?
They said on top of the big building at the entrance
They're facing eden and looking way up
this is where im standing
and then i just looked up in edens direction (once again sorry for the awful pic quality)
ok Im back
I took a few pics to be curtain
There not actually above the mountain, there right overhead ( preaty low clowds)
From what I could tell, there not so different from the other clouds texture wise
hmm maybe some area to come?
i was was thinking wether this was prairie, bit that doesnt really make sense with the way ots conneted to isle and forest
Think the low resolution might be cousing problems for you😅
yeah, that wouldent really fit😅
Plus Priery would be preaty tiny in that case , and we would be able to see sanctuary from out here
huh wdym?
If these were the prairie
We'd also see sanctuary island in the distance, due to it being a massive area located way lower than prairie's other islands
yup, thats what I said😅 (though maby I said it badly)
exactly
Yeah i explained why we'd see sanctuary because they asked "what do you mean"
noo it was meant for the message, the thing about resolution, above i just sent it to late i guess hahah sorry for the confusion, but thanks
I think that in this case what the map shows does make sence
Aviary is the most distant of all the region, with Isle of Down between it and Priery
thought about that as well... the form of the cloud structure kinda matches the map but idk still doenst really make any logical sense
Also, I do love the detale that boath Wind Paths and Aviary are multy coloured.
There boath neutral regions that are a part of sky civilization, but not conected to any individual realm
coud be just a case of them not programing them so realisticly, or more likely they werent really designed to be seen so closely from so hight up, but instead create an interesting effect with the sun getting covered and revealed for when your moveing down bellow
But, you never know😅
Like I said, there right above us and prearty close for clouds, so there if there does end up being something up there, its not really big
by the way, does anyone know if this manta in Sanctuary disappeared or what?
I've never seen it again after this picture was taken
It still roams around
Actually- idk since there's a lot of mantas there- that look slightly similar
It shows up during Little Prince quest iirc
Ooh- then nope, it won't appear again and the same goes with the krill in tlp place
This Ominous Mr. Crab walking krill
I remember this guy wandering around after the game told me the quest was over
Appeared to have gone back to regular krill behavior
Sadly he isn't there anymore
This makes sense, it looks visually similar to the area around the Ark after the last enchantment quest.
I wonder where the ark was headed then. I suppose it must have been originated from the wasteland if the design elements are the same, but I wonder where it was intended to go, if it's not headed to vault.
Best answer I could think of.....far away from waistland😅
I mean
The world of sky is big and features a lot of ocean
Could've been going anywhere really
What makes the ship crash tho?
Maybe the war?
I mean in the ark- the damage is really big and severe.. But in the crab ocean? Forgot the name- the crab whisperer place, I can see it getting hit by the way
Its called an ark. We might not know exactly where it was planing to go, but it started its journey from one of the worst places to be at, and they all wanted out😅
Maybe The Abyss Monster has a few chomps on it? Nvm that doesn't make sense but ig Krill can be the reason it happened and why it is damaged
Too high up, the abyss monster never leaves the water in curent version
He is too chonky basically!
The ark has a mural showing them packing the coloured orbs and going off, before getting knocked down by a storm, with lightning.
Damn, that's harsh a storm.. But I can actually see that happening tbh- tho we never see lighting/thunder in sky beside Eden- why is that?
Actually, I had a thought right now 🤔
Its probably wrong, but do you think the shatering might have something to do with it....
Like one of those meteor chunks blasted the ship🤔
Like maby they suspected something bad might go down soon and wanted to get out, but it ended up hapening much sooned and quicker then expected
I presume it broke due to the crash landing itself, since it's a nice clean smash.
It could be, Eden's storm is also full of lightning.
perhaps it's related to our earlier discussion, of the fall of the kingdom.
Can't really tell since the ship itself doesn't show any markings (damage I mean) beside the cracks
Fair point
Ngl is there a possible chance the king used to use thunder as a power source before changing it into dark stone-
That would hint at why Eden has a lot of thunders and such
Just a theory tho- tbh a farfetched one xD
Another observation, there is the remains of a catapult arm inside the lake.
They might have been murchents, but they were flighing armed😅
Ain't there a use-able one graveyard gw?
ah, like the catapult in graveyard?
if they were fleeing something, a weapon would be necessary if they were chased.
The opposite side has a krill mural
Yup, and theres one in ark lake as well
Wait! Where is that??
I didn't know you could dive there- well it was black water before until it gets purified
Are we sure they were even flying
Given that they rest in what looks like the remains of a watery area, could've be good old sea boats
the visual design of the ark is similar to other flying boats, albeit at a larger scale.
nope, I just checked there mural. They were deffinetly flighing.
And look at that, they get taken down by a storm looking thing😏
Ima finish this theory for a bit then I can move on- thunder used to be Eden's main source of energy
But it was hard to predict. so the king decided to use a dark crystal which caused everything in Eden to go wild and shattering happen- the dark crystal intensified and corrupted Eden- it's just a silly theory tho so don't take this seriously
Krill can fly too maybe it gives it a boop too while the storm attacc it
I feel like if krill had been involved they'd be represented here
If they took the time to draw what happened, i doubt they'd just omit the giant scary murder monster if it was there
they are on the other side of the ark
... nevermind i didn't know the krill was on the mural too
It happens xD
I guess that's the consequences of loring about quests i have yet to complete
Soon ™️ i'll get around to finishing the seasons i haven't done
The game does not work on my Huawei P30 device
Tho if that's the case- it just shows how powerful krill is- now imagine The Abyss Monster
isn't that the beta app?
#beta-discussion is a better spot.
I mean
The krill being powerful isn't really a thing we had doubts about to be honest
The things are a gigantic unstoppable predator that rams into things at high speed with a spear point for a head
Hold your horses
The krill shows up on the other side of the boat, after the ark is already wrecked by the storm
Its equally possoble his like a shark smelling fresh prey and comeing to the ark velley
They do seem to feast on light and the coloured light would probably be like a beacon to them.
Krill sniffing hungrily
And also the things casually just
Exist in eden
Strong winds ? Flying rocks? Who cares when you're a krill
here is the full ark mural
I am aware of that xD but I never see a Krill doing massive damage to a building- and now it scares me more-
Tho I love my shrimp puppies
And you just mention that- I can see it now ;w;
Makes me wonder though
What are these orbs they were carrying on the murals
Spells? Potions? That'd line up with this place becoming a spell shop post-quest
The begining of the mural almost seam to describe the history and development of spells
How over time they learned to harnese and manipulate light energy, until they could do all kinds of mirocles
I belive it's the 6 coloured lights, the ones you recover for thi seasons quests
Ig the ark doesn't have much luck with heavy rains and storms- with a Krill lurking around- kinda tragic ngl
I mean
To be fair
Not much survived the shattering in the region
Yeahh.. More tragic. More lore.

Like
The vault survived, which to be honest is impressive
Almost every GW building and ship is broken
Then when getting further away from eden than that, buildings are still (mostly) working but deprived of light
Also, are the colors related to Prophecy? Ik Prophecy has four colors which are water, earth, air, and fire
And in the water trial- is the water extremely cold or it's dark water?
The light of sun and star and moon
In shining orbs of crystal hewn
Undimmed by cloud, or shade of night
They shone forever fair and bright
I feel like in the case of trials, it kinda happens within your mind to some extent so the water is more like a physical representation of an internal struggle
Personally I like to think that the 6 light related to the arc that we find in the realms and the elemental forces are not one and the same as many people like to belive
The 4 elements thing is more a kind of blessing apon the realms and there people, like the fire of courige for waistland and such, while the lights we catch have there origins in the arc people and spellcraft
It just dawned on me that because daily quest, i got every colored light before even touching the enchantment quests
A little silly
I mean if it's cold water I can see it making sense. Since I can assume the Prophecy is like a prophecy on what's going to happen and such in the future of Sky like an actual prophecy but the prophecy already happened to the spirits we know-
The Trial Of Water shows us the pollution of water for example
While Earth teaches us how the spirits can't fly and they have impressive parkour skills
Air is a hint for the spirits that the next generation can fly aka us the sky kids
The Fire trial is just showing that the Sky world is getting consumed by darkness and our light can overcome and help the spirits and elders
Ok, I wish I could talk more, but its like 2am here
I'll replay to the last post tomorrow😅
Bye guys
Okei xD
I'm not quite sure the trials are like
A prophecy of what happened to the spirits or how they functioned, like I don't think "parkour skills were needed" is a great prophecy
But rather tied to the fact that we are meant to bring hope to this crumbled kingdom and are prophecized to go trough trials and stuff
Not like a direct representation of ancestor history, but more about us : the ones undergoing these trials, the ones who are meant to be bringing hope and help
This also lines up with the isle murals, seemingly written by ancestors, telling us long after the passing of said ancestors, to help them
But in prophecy, we can see some spirits are going to do the trials themselves- well not directly but they are preparing for it- you can check by reliving their memories
Tho tbh this is just some theory and my personal head cannon so I might be wrong in certain parts but this is what this channel is for sooo.. I will share them anyway
Maybe
Though even still i think the interpretation for water and earth here don't line up
These two aren't announcing anything in that interpretation
Yeah tbh I haven't slept yet so I just kinda when along with it xD with the water and earth one
The ones for air and fire i can see it
But like
"There will be polluted water" is not really meaningful, especially since it's just a consequence of what you intepret to be represented by fire
And the earth one here just isn't predicting anything
But the idea that they predict the downfall of the kingdoms may work
Yeahhh xD my baddd- I can't think of a better word @w@
I might redo the trials and check the message again
Oh no need to apologize, it's still interesting to discuss
The wording can be better thoo and I was being sarcastic about the parkour part xDD
And I'll go nap too now @w@, see ya!
Hello I don’t know anything about the lore of the game can somebody explained what they got so far as for theories and stuff?
most lore isn't confirmed canon but rather speculation drawn from in-game murals, spirits/seasons, and events, as well as from old concept art. I'd recommend starting with these sources: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Though note that the document called 'the theory vault' is open for anyone to contribute, so lots of its content isn't what always aligns with more widely accepted (but still non-confirmed) lore
Personally, my favorite source in terms of someone trying to tie it all together is here: https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Amity206/Sky_Lore_Theories
Again, lore isn't set in stone, but there's definitely a lot to explore!
Also you can explore the concept art here: https://www.tomzhao.com/sky-all
( mural from the opening of the game / in aviary )
just a small thing, but i find it interesting how our body is the exact same shape there, except theres a dot in the middle of the others head, and it looks like the light radiates from there. opposed to us where the dot is in our body, and radiates wings from there. Also we look pretty close to that while ascending to orbit and how bright we are, heh.
I wonder if maybe it was the eyes which held the light and glowed in some kind of precursor version of what sky kids are now ( elder mask image for thought ) Also, the masks we wear have bright glowing eyes, even though without a mask our eyes are closed and dont give off light.
Just a wilder thought, but I wonder if the masks we wear were crafted for us by ancestors to mimic what was normal in the past. with the single dot in the middle of the head, maybe its the same dot as in the middle of the forehead of many masks, like that kindof third eye was just a feature on whatever that precursor sky kid was ( or whoever the king/prince was? )
That third eye spot isnt on every mask, and i find it most interesting in the abyss masks where they have a mask which doesn't have the third eye, one with that part of the mask broken off, and even one mask with the third eye, but the glowing part has been turned off or even broken/removed ( it could be a small piece of darkstone which was salvaged )
ok on just a bit more digging, anxious angler and ceasing commodore both have darkstone crystals in their masks, but in angler's mask when you get it, it loses the darkstone crystal. I wonder if they wear the masks but dont have the power like sky kids do to actually activate the crystal and give it light, and in their time they would have needed to have the crystals charged somehow.
Also a small other thing, only a couple spirits have these white crystals in them which seem to not glow much if at all. ( hiking grouch )
QUESTION: okay so from what i understand of the lore its implied that the king of eden was a skykid right. was that a thing that was actually implied or did i make that up and then forgot i made it up
I think a lot of people interpret the one in the middle of all the realms/elders in prophecy cave to be both a sky kid ( or some kind of one ) and also the king/eden elder
ALRIGHT i wanted to ask before i laid down a headcanon that will break everyones hearts:
the kings robes were weighted with sand. you have one guess as to why they'd give a skykid heavy clothes
so they cant fly away?
:)
i'm normal about the king. i think their story should be tragic. I think everyone involved in letting this ten year old be king should be either a bad person or powerless to get them out of this bad situation. i need the king to be a scapegoat for the collapse of ancestor society. i need this kid to be a whole omelas situation
certainly fits a bit with the thoughts i've seen of the winged light/bright skykid in the eden crystal being like a prisoner inside the eden crystal, unable to leave
sidenote: i also headcanon that the Valley elders are skykids and unlike the king, nobody (but the king) knows. they were appointed solely bc they were the kings childhood friends and could easily pass as ancestors and thisd give the poor kid a way to hang out with their friends
fascinating short story I was not previously aware of.
So this means there were at least a small population of sky kids back then? what was the fate of the other sky kids besides the valley elders and the king themselves?
OH personally i think the king and the twins were the only ones to be permanently taken out of the cycle by the explosion. a lot of others died but its a lot harder to permanently kill a skykid than it is to permanently kill an ancestor- the ones closer to eden had difficulties but did eventually make it out of Orbit while the ones further away either survived completely or came back normally
ah apologies, my initial question was unclear, though this is equally interesting of an answer.
You had specified that the Valley Elders were able to pass as Ancestors. this suggests that no other sky kids were allowed to even approach the king, and the elsders were the exception not because they were always friends, but because their status as sky kids was unknown.
I read this chat like the morning paper
OH skykids were generally seen as "annoying but harmless" at worst or "divine messengers of Megabird" at best. nobody, ancestor or skykid, was really allowed to hang out with the king casually and skykids generally have very little interest in politics and ergo no reason to go to the castle
on the bit about the white crystals, I spotted one in cackling cannoneer's thing
( nevermind! got a better camera angle with the lighting, its darkstone! )
ah so it is a political reason then? they were allowed to stand as Elders because to most Ancestors, they did not appear to be sky kids.
YEAH skykids are like. kids. even though the twins were very good at pretending to be adult ancestors theyre probably like the skykid equivalent of sixteen lol
so ofc they wouldnt be let into, yknow. Important government roles
one does not simply knowingly appoint a couple of teenagers to be on the most important council of their civilization, just below the king himself in authority
That makes sense.
I understand the king is a bit of a figurehead position in your lore but why was that sky kid specifically chosen to be appointed?
I feel it wasn't a random choice, just grabbing any old skykid by the cape like a mother cat to her kittens
beat the trials before any ancestor could on account of "they sounded fun" and also the fsct that the trials were designed for ancestors who are... far less agile than skykids. which isnt speaking poorly of ancestors so much as it is me saying that these kids are unnaturally good at Scmovement
i must be clear they did not know what being king entailed. this kid just saw a Fun Activity and accidentally changed the course of ancestor civilization forever
yes! schmovement
So they just picked a king based off the fact that a kid beat the trials?
but the whole thing was a sham? or did it only become one once they realized that it was a sky kid who did it?
i mean, it was uhm. a self fulfilling prophecy for one. if you tell everyone "the person who beats these trials will become king" the king will be elected based on who can beat the trials
it was just a coincidence that this one kid did it (and didnt chicken out at the second or fourth trials) before an ancestor got past 'em all
ah no, sorry, I mean the whole plot making the king a figurehead and scapegoat.
If an ancestor did it, would they have been put in the same position as the king?
OH probably not. most of the governing was done by a council bc they understood that an actual ten year old child is probably not fit to make important decisions for a whole kingdom. but they DID tell the king what they decided to just like... parrot it back i guess.
it just happened that when things started going horribly wrong it was easy to pin it on the king who was, publically, the one announcing important stuff, instead of the council making those decisions taking responsibility
oh, you know, on past existing sky kids - if you interpret jolly geologist as some kind of early pioneer for darkstone, seeing as they seem quite interested in finding out those crystals which ( react to your light !! )
If you were to interpret the quests themselves as memories of a sky kid interacting with those spirits, maybe the ancestors found those crystals more valuable than normal seeing as a sky kid near them caused them to light up
( they're also wearing a crystal in their helmet it seems, maybe as an early bit of darkstone tech for a mining head lamp, heh. and the abyss masks could be ones they found in the rubble of the mining area, the crystals in the forehead there being more of a way to see in the dark while mining, heh )
OMG i dont recognize this guy when were they added. i havent played since halfway thru remembrance n im just starting to catch up so
season of moments, a quite interesting area if you think about its connection to prairie 👁️
Facinating concepts I need to add to my own notes, which have fallen behind on seasons.
i think you only see darkstone powered doors when you get to prairie, so it may just have been the earliest times they were figuring out how to use it, and sky kids existing around then could have very much reacted to the stones and that caused the interest / attention from the ancestors
i have a TON of sky worldbuilding its like. a whole passion project for me. ive got everything from skykid biology to gods that came before megabird to this stuff about the king to skykid culture
Yeah my notes just have a lot of existing and made up terms for my particular flavour of the Sky world.
really good headcanon that u guys should hear ok. megabird is Skykid Mom. not like a motherly god (which she was to the ancestors) the skykids are her children and she is trying her best to be a good parent to all fifty bazillion of them
That's a neat one. and I believe you did mention that rebirth still works even if no one can really go to eden anymore. So sky kids can interact with the megabird directly?
skykids have. very little fear of death. once they realize they come back they will go to eden on a whim specifically to die as fast as possible to go see megabird. its a whole thing and i think megabird kinda wishes they didnt do that because she doesnt want them getting hurt but its impossible to stop a skykid from doing something they wanna do
some of them even make a game of it! How far can you get how long can you last. helps take the edge off the fear of actually being there
ah so the eden void and the radiation stuff is separate from normal accension?
eden void is a weird anomaly and not every death actually means you see the void kid. and eden's darkness is just... the easiest way to die very very quickly. because in my headcanons the skykid statue thing is actually a defense mechanism to protect their light when theyre critically low and edens darkness is just strong enough to pierce the stone and drain the last of their reserves. anywhere else isnt strong enough to do that so tbeyd have to get into a REALLY dangerous situation to die otherwise
i find it pretty interesting how that void area is just somewhere sky kids can meditate to get in and out of, and it even can have memories inside it ( shattering )
It may make it more symbolic than in reality, like you literally walking towards the light ( dying and accepting it ) but being reborn at the end of the light, as is with the world of sky
it is not uncommon for a skykid to stay in orbit for days or sometimes weeks after their first eden run because eden scary and megabird warm and comforting. take a big nap hang out with mom and calm down because that was the worst experience of their little lives
but i dont know how winged light you can actually collect can be in there, i dont think you just keep winged light rattling around in your head
OH i uhm. i solve the winged light problem by pretending it doesnt exist. game mechanic to represent skykids building up stronger light reserves as time goes on / being left weak and recovering after injuries or darkness poisoning
In my headcanon, the WL are literally memory imprints, in a similar manner to spirits, though they are imprints of other sky kids after they go to eden, but before they properly accend.
So as sky kids collect more WL, they are empowered by these lights, but also carry a bit of the soul and memories, which eventually pulls them to eden almost instinctively to fufill the second half of accension for the statues there (so there's sort of waves of sky kids active at any given time, if that makes sense)
OH the eden statue thing. fun fact about my lore: the eden ascension sequence where all the winged light take flight... is imaginary. the skykid is already in orbit a minute or two after they turn to stone. All those statues are just empty husks by now, giving them light didnt do anything, but its in a skykids nature to try and relight petrified skykids because normally theyre still alive in there and basically hibernating to conserve light
interesting, interesting.
so if a skykid ends up hibernating somewhere else, they'd be revived by giving up light? How does that affect the giver and receiver of light, as WL is an abstraction for gameplay in your lore?
GOOD QUESTION the stone is one-way light permeable. traps it in but doesnt let it out. it doesnt cost anything to relight a petrified skykid usually, just a bit of time and patience to let your light get in there and add to their own light- its only so costly in eden because light and time are so precious there. Every second spent in that darkness is sapping more and more of your limited light from you, staying by a fire isnt enough to restore everything- maybe your excess reserves for flight and candlelight but but the internal light that keeps you alive
ah so the danger is in the surroundings and not the action itself.
is a hibernating skykid just sleeping basically? from the timeline of whatever put them into that state to their eventual revival, what memories do they have? (or if they can't remember, do they have a sense of how long they were asleep for, or is it like when you try to take a 5 minute nap and wake up 3 hours later?
)
yeah, theyre usually like... conscious for a few hours and if they don't get enough light by then they'll usually fall asleep until a lot of light enters their system at once (which in most cases means someone's come to relight them). it sucks at first but theyre out like a light (hah) the rest of the time so it's actually like. probably the least stressful way to avoid dying from light loss they could have
I see I see.
interesting note about how injury works in this state btw: the stone can be... brittle compared to "flesh" (skykids dont really. have flesh. but nobody knows what theyre made of bc anything under the skin just turns to stone immediately on contact with air),
Which... means sometimes things break before they can be relit. LUCKILY injuries gained while petrified heal MUCH easier. if you can get to a strong source of light within a day or so you can heal back even lost limbs- something skykids can't usually do, but the body tends to remember its shape much better when petrification happens.
also it's common knowledge among skykids to tuck in your limbs if you know you're gonna petrify. squat or sit or lay down and keep your arms close. "keep your limbs close to your body if youre turning to stone" is their equivalent of stop drop and roll if you catch fire
do healed injuries have any visual indication?
missing down feathers (my skykids r feathery) for a while. stone patches while the body is still freaking out about the loss of an entire limb. generally kinda just looking like the skykid equivalent of one of those really stressed parrots that plucks all their feathers (but confined to the affected area) until healing is complete and the down feathers can grow back
btw thak u so much for indulging me in my loredumping i have put SO MUCH THOUGHT into all this and ive already told it to my friends several times
Ah they are feathered? this is information I was not aware of.
Were ancestors also feathered?
is it just a layer of down or do they also have contour and flight feathers? are the capes part of their anatomy?
GRINS skykid anatomy literally my favourite thing to talk about
SO. While ancestors are not feathered, most (skykids are HIGHLY varied in appearance) skykids have a full body covering of black furlike feathers. most don't have flight feathers to go with this but again, they're incredibly varied and some do. capes are... a weird deal because theyre not a part of a skykid, but something about the nature of a skykid means that any sufficiently large piece of fabric draped over their shoulders moves like a real part of their bodies. skykids culturally do consider their capes to be part of them but also have no stigma against getting new ones or swapping them around or even just going capeless for a bit if for some reason thats what you wanna do.
their hair is also feathers, technically, but... weird modified feathers. its more like human hair except each strand has a bunch of branches- this has the unfortunate side effect of making skykid hair look kinda frizzy by default but its also very soft
seriously tho thank u so much for interviewing me on this stuff. so much worldbuilding in my little head
It's always a delight hearing about other people's worldbuilding and story details.
I suppose that means the Valley Elders either have limited feathering (such that it can be covered) or they are shielded from the public eye such that they cant go under careful scrutiny?
oh thats the funny part. the twins actually both have big neck crests (think c/ckatoo crest but folding out like one of those frilled lizards) (censored the word just so the filters wont accidentally pick it up). they keep those folded close to the skin but at least once one of them got surprised and it flared out in front of the forest elder lol. nobody believes their claims that these two are skykids and its caused a bit of a rivalry.
as for the rest of the body- what isnt covered by their clothes is short enough to go unnoticed, and the long gloves cover up the worst of it.
Oh! the nature of the valley elders is not known to the rest of the elders, only the council behind the king?
So other sky kids could have more elaborate feathering.
What about the king, or the present day protag and their friends?
i actually have a visual aid for this one btw
NOPE not even the council knows. this was one of the few times where the king actually had a direct say in things-
the king definitely is Visibly A Skykid tho. clawed hands and feet, a long plumed tail, visible feathering and all that. their clothes have long sleeves to cover some of it just to like. make that less prominent. but everyone knows they're a skykid.
as for the "protag" i actually think the things that happen in game are done by several skykids over a longer period of time- generally i consider "waking up the elders/events of the main story" to be something in the recent past while all the seasonal events are the present if that makes sense? earlier "generations" of skykids set a dying world back into motion and now that the spirits are present enough in the physical world to actually do things again, things r getting more interesting
Ah but i believe you previously mentioned a specific sky kid who's forced to be the hero, who could slay a krill and eventually rescues the king.
tangent since i remembered, but you mentiond the king being in weighted robes to keep from flying away. is it not possible to take the cape itself, or is it technically unnecessary for flight?
AH that is uhm. that "skykid" is. its a crossover fic. theyre not actually a skykid that fic is my excuse to put my biggest blorbo into sky. that fic uses the rest of my worldbuilding but its not canon to it
Also could u rephrase that last question im a bit sleepy and dont understand what ur asking srry
oh it's multiple fics, my mistake.
In game, being capeless prevents flight. in your world, as the cape can be any piece of fabric, it's not an inherent part of the biology. if a skykid takes off their cape, can they fly? can someone else pull the cape off a skykid?
they cant fly without a cape and its actually fairly easy to yoink a cape off someone- they dont come off on their own (think two magnets stuck to eachother. Its usually easy to pull them apart with your hands but tossing n shaking them around wont do much)
LUCKILY skykids are VERY fallproof. if they do fall from a height theyd normally have to fly down from the worst theyll get is maybe some aches or bruises- skykids, much like rats, do not take fall damage
so, wouldn't it be easier to take the king's cape? or is a part of the ceremonial clothing a cape that can't be compromised without causing concern by the public?
Uuhm. if ur talkin about skykid style capes they dont have theirs anymore. the one weightd with sand is one of those fancy like. similar to this i guess, not exactly but the same kinda thing. They just had fancy clothes at first but after one too many instances of stealing tablecloths or towels to fly through the halls it was decided that it was probably better to just... give them their own cape thats inconvenient to fly in. they can if they try hard enough but its heavy and makes them clumsy and takes more energy to stay up so they dont bother
basically its like those cones they put on injured dogs except. a little more mean spirited
yes that cape.
sorry, I suppose I'm just working through the logistics of keeping a skykid from flying.
can the king not remove their weighted cape unless they have one to replace it? or has it gotten them into trouble after they attempted to ditch it once and so they don't try it anymore.
they can but like. again not worth the trouble they get into. the kid is... not exactly encouraged to act like a skykid unfortunately :(
makes sense makes sense
Heck, i think it took some work to just let them have like. easy access to good hearty light sources so they could keep their reserves up. ancestors didnt rlly understand how skykids worked at the time so the people in charge of taking care of the king kinda assumed that if they werent flying around they could live off the ambient lighting of the castle (bc obviously skykids only need to recharge after flying, riiiight?) and uh. it took them getting sick from a lack of light to change that
people looooved either ignoring the fact that the king was a skykid or turning it into some huge religious thing where they have some important connection to megabird
Ah sky kid metabolism burns light as well? how much light do they need at rest?
the religious aspect makes sense, you did mention some portions of the amcestors saw them as divine messengers, and it was the cave of prophecy that "chose" them. I suppose the council doesn't share those views or they probably wouldn't mistreat them to that degree though?
usually skykids get the light they need just from being around eachother (basically just how it works in game, neither party loses light both gain light) but since the king doesnt have other skykids around they needed external sources... I don't think it was intentional mistreatment tho so much as it was "this is the king" overshadowing "this is a young child". the elders were a bit more reasonable but the people actually making decisions on behalf of the king had a tendency to forget that this is a small child, and one of a different species at that, and that kinda reflected in how they were treated
I see I see
Perhaps butterflies then to keep the king well? there's lots of jars of trapped butterflies in forest.
or did you already figure that aspect out?
OH thats actually a good idea. i was thinkin just candles
Hey I wanna know so as spirits are they allowed to go anywhere in the world they want or they are confined to the realms
I know they're all dead but can come and go as they please from wherever in the sky
it seemed we had to call the base spirits from orbit to bring them to aviary village. the thing we revive is more a memory or imprint of the spirit.
your mileage may vary when it comes to travelling spirits, but the group visit for days of music and Season of moments put them in realms different from their original locations.
So ghosts just come down to chill cuz they can
Another thing are there other sky people out there who aren't dead like the sky kids we play as or we're just what's left completely
Sky kids seem to be what's left after the kingdom of old fell due to the shattering. though they seem to have arrived afterwards.
Cool
Anyone ever think of what the statues in Eden, the one in home, and now the new one in Aviary mean? Like most of them seem to be candle bearers and at first it seemed like an ancestor offering their candle, a representation of the inner flame. But like the new one in Aviary has wings?
Maybe they are meant to represent some personification of the megabird? Thoughts?
I think the enchantment guide is hopeful stewards father. I dunno it’s just a feeling.
Is it ok if I use a couple of these photos for a video I'm doing? I wanna explain my take on the lore but didn't get video of this cutscene 😭
Shure, go right ahead☺️
I got a few more actually ( wanted to fit all in one post), but there mostly transitions
I would want to hear your idea first though, if you want to freely use these
Get my blessing and all that😈
Tysm! Mainly I wanted to get the shot of the Elders falling to the clouds. It's a visual I haven't really seen elsewhere in the murals that mentions the elders specifically
Aaa, I see☺️
Although, while it is very likely that the Elders were among the earlyest to come to the continent, there is no clear indication that they were THE first, or that this mural talks about them specificly, and not the ancester race as a whole in a simbolic sence
Just a little something to keep in mind😅
Well it suggests to me that they had a choice to build a kingdom and I imagine the Elders were already chosen and leaders of their respective constellations and that those spirits in their constellations followed them to their kingdom
That is a good point. Though in other places like the Isle of down version of this story, this is not so clear cut.
Just wanted to present all views is all☺️. You are free to do as you want from here
Right, I attribute that to the passing of generations of ancestors and the tale changing to adapt more to the post cataclysmic events
Thanks for the info!
Actually, one more thing to consider about that.
The aviary mural would not neceseraly be the older version of the story after Isle of down.
This was all made long after the world was doomed, in the twilight of the ancester lifes.
Ohhh I wasn't aware of that 😬🤔
Yup
Aviary kinda feels like a final refuge in the begining of the Era of storm. The last region to hold out
well, anyway, these picks are yours to use as you wish🥰
and the Isle mural for good mesure
( oops, secund half didnt load before😅 )
Here's my take on the Theory about Golden Wasteland:
It is one of the richest place in Sky, Trading area for many things, Due to it being almost in the Dark people have developed weapons to fight off what's in the darkness, It is once a place full of factory and stuff which would explain why there are too many pipes there.
It is also one of the most advanced places across the 7 realms which would explain the huge boats, towers, and type of building that you can't find anywhere, But When the light got taken away from it, It releases the thing things they would usually fight off IN the dark, in this case Krills and Crabs.
So they started a war against Krills, Which would explain the bones and the weapons in the graveyard and the entrance of the elder Temple, But the krills are just too powerful.
The fall of the Golden Wasteland turn the place into one of the most polluted area in sky a place of air pollution, polluted waters, abandoned buildings that were once the richest place in Sky.
Mantatee spotted! That means they were extirpated from the Wasteland nooooo
no, thats the long haired ember and there manety
we dont know where they first meat, but its deffinetly following them as they go
soon I hope
Maby when series starts
Oh my god this is adorable my heart
there's something about the firework staff transformation, how it goes from 5 to ten 4 pointed stars, but I only have the time to post the images I grabbed of them at the moment.
I suppose it doesn't necessarily mean anything, but to go through the trouble of creating a second staff model makes me less likely to go off that reasoning
Agreed.
I wonder if this drawing of the manatee would be related to this concept of it with a bad fin.
Would we have a Nemo-esque manatee?
Well, a steward is someone who organizes an event or takes care of a place, like they manage it, but in sort of a protective way.
And all the aviary quests involve us rebuilding this lost village, and while it isn't exactly the same as it might have once been, it certainly was enough to bring the spirits back to the kingdom proper.
Looking at viksa's earlier messages on the text for both the isle intro mural and the aviary mural, there is an odd contradiction between them and the 4th seasonal quest. The isle mural wishes to return to the stars, and the shattering has trapped them in the realms, the aviary mural suggests that the decending was an intentional decision, but the 4th quests has all the spirits in Orbit (so wouldn't they have already accended again?)
Something here doesn't quite add up but this could be the tie to the relation between aviary and the other realms.
Maybe I'm missing something that a moth wouldn't. like maybe you need to find the spirit before they come back to aviary village.
in which case the contradiction is resolved as finding the spirit in the realm is what allows them to join the constellation again.
but I suppose only a new account could answer that question
Hopeful Stewar is a relatively straightforward name.
Even though that does not make it clear whether this child is a skykid without a cape, an ancestor child (possibly a precursor of skykids), or something more. We have seen child ancestors in the realms before though, mostly in the seasons (started as far back as belonging, then in assembly with the guide included, and in Remembrance, Moments and Revival).
They are hopeful for ancestors to return to Aviary, that they could be saved one day which was fulfilled when skykids came to help, and that the area could be restored to its former glory.
Why would this season have adult ancestor spirits who were guides from past season be part of a group with a child as their guide (I wonder if this would make the child a guide of guides, lol)?
Or wait, what if it is the the other way around?
Most season guides were introduced as [This season] guide.
Hopeful Steward is not specifically named a guide, even though the other spirits we help are.
Interesting
Either way, the steward part is interestign as this implies they were put in charge of the Village, but by who and why?
Why would a child be put in charge of the village (or what is left of it)?
Clearly the other guides recognise the steward and are happy to see their homes/shops being restored.
Aviary has some history to the game (both as far as lore is concerned and in the game itself with its player from Light Awaits).
The tie into the world part could either be a reference to the spirits we help in the quests are guides of the realms.
The ones whose quests we can relive are made part of the requirements of the Aviary questline.
Or, it could be a hint towards future plans that would envolve Aviary in some way.
From what one may recall from the teaser to Aviary (even if the teaser is likely based on the village in its beta stage and may possibly vary from the live version we have), there is a lot to the area that has yet been revealed to us.
Which may give us more information on what lies ahead in terms of progression.
That said, having Aviary is a major development for skykid lore, as well as a new chapter for lore about Home.
(side note, I hope that Home island sticks around. I love Aviary and am ecstatic to see it return to Sky from Light awaits, which was 4 years ago. However, I joined the game and the island is my skykid's home for 3 years. I'd hate to lose that home and forced to accept the new one, almost like how players from back then lost Aviary and had to accept the island.)
im going totally off memory of the history encycolopedias i consumed as a child, but wasn't the idea of a steward historically someone who helped manage a castle on behalf of a ruler?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steward_(office)
yeah not necessarily a castle but they were appointed by a ruling monarch
to quote:
In medieval times, the steward was initially a servant who supervised both the lord's estate and his household. However over the course of the next century, other household posts arose and involved more responsibilities. This meant that in the 13th century, there were commonly two stewards in each house—one who managed the estate and the other, the majordomo, to manage domestic routine. Stewards commonly earned up to 3 to 4 pounds per year. Stewards took care of their lord's castles when they were away. Also, stewards checked on the taxes of the serfs on their lords' manors.
yes. lol
The word as a few uses.
It stems from the old english word for someone who watches over (ward) a home or hall.
Someone tasked to make sure things at this place is taken care of.
A castle steward in that case would not only be tasked to make sure the castle is in one piece, but also make sure other needs for the place are also met.
As for the Revival Guide being a steward.
It could hypothetically been their responsibility to watch over the village and make sure the ancestors were ok.
However, my earlier question still applies to why a child is placed in this position and who chose them.
In simple words with the castle example.
They make sure the castle is kept tidy, the grounds are maintained (ex. grass is cut, paths are cleared up, trees are trimmed), the rooms are cleaned, the staff are fed and supervised, anything that involved the castle is referred to the steward, and so on.
The lord/king of the castle is still the owner and has the final say about the place. But the steward is responsible for the place still.
Should the owner not be able to make a decision about the place, the steward steps in.
Well, I suppose it fits with the themes of this season, to make the guide a child. children are the future, yeah?
The elders presumably messed things up and caused the shattering one way or another, but that's was then and this is now.
if this child does have a connection to the king, as speculated regarding two embers, maybe he acts as the steward ever since the shattering, which would have made the king unable to
Has any lore dropped from the AMA earlier today?
Has partially been discussed above
Tha k you!!
I just learned/realized that the Valley Elders are like,,, missing an entire half of their bodies (missing one eye, one arm, one leg) and I’m really starting to believe in the theory that they were one star that was split into two
IIRC, originally they were meant to be one spirit but that was changed in the actual game (called Samekh? Sahmek? I don't remember the spelling), so it might be a mythology gag
Who’s the narrator in sky? The one who calls to us and summons us? Is it the megabird
You know they say "Home is where the heart is" right? I've always interpreted that as the heart of the skykid, sort of like a mental headspace that's close to their hearts. That home was a construction of the skykid's mind. But then it just hit me... what if home is literally the heart of the kingdom of sky?
This implies that the entire sky kingdom is a living being, with its own cycles of rebirth and it's metabolism, and we are just part of its 'body'. We all originate from the heart and pass through the body and return to it's heart. It's like Tartarus in Greek mythology. The entire place is a living being.
I doubt it, this picture is very old and taken way before tlp season existed. It was taken at the beginning of the original sanctuary season...
I was thinking about the creatures in Sky and I realized that there are frog and owl noises in the bg of passage and aviary locations, respectively. Not sure if they are diegetic sounds or not but it’s cool!
Sky frogs!
popping in to leave one thought: to anyone who headcanons skykids to be feathery (like me)...
I have a bird. he is the size of an apple. he sheds like. half his body weight in feathers every ten seconds its insane. now imagine that upscaled to human child size. now imagine two of those because skykids are rarely alone. so much shedding. the fields of sky are full of down fluff
I never said it shows up exclusively during TLP
Just that it does show up during it
a funny bit i kinda picked up in todays quest, but the enchantment guide totally just gave the steward some new hair and a cape, reminds me a lot of how guides would give sky kids stuff
also its probably already been discussed, but "hopeful steward" is not "Revival Guide" so kinda in my head they arent a regular guide spirit
maybe thats what they meant by their name being some kind of hint, they arent a guide they're something else?
Oh wow, is this from the last quest👀
Gonna have to get my photography finger ready for this one
This is certainly the oddest season, yeah.
even the final two seasonal quests are on forked off the current node instead of on the main path. I can't think of any other season like this.
Ah sorry not the last quest, that just sets up the firework staff and gives the steward the ultimate outfit, it is during the firework event itself.
I'm sure your ability to snap photos is much quicker than mine, I have to deal with the moments camera to get clean shots, and it is DARK and crowded
no heart for the last three quests either, lol
also just a really weird thing to note, for a while there the quests were dropping on monday each week, then... for this one it landed on a tuesday. and then it seems to be going back to mondays i think? im not sure why they did that LOL
all i can think of is event scheduling with how many things are crammed into this month, lol
I think to line it up with the actual festival start
and perhaps they made the festival shorter to have more bonus days for ticket collection.
as we only had 4 days worth of extra days this time around.
I don't think they did? The festival was planned to start on Tuesday from the start right
They had the dates in the patches notes from like a couple weeks ago
No sorry, I mean, they totally could have made the tickets 14 days, and the festival 7, but it's 15 and 6, and with phase 2 on a tuesday when basically every event starts on a monday.
Ah right
Could be yeah
my new conspiracy theory is as follows
Steward is a skykid who lived before and not a regular ancestor guide spirit, with my only current evidence being they are equal to me in height ( i'm basically at max default height ), they have a skykid third eye mask on, and wear the same kinda pants we do
TGC are gonna keep adding to aviary and we'll learn more about em next season ( ? ) and at some point we might get a two embers season where we learn about sky kids in the world before the shattering for a bigger lore drop on who the heck they are
thats my best bet LOL
Oh right, that reminds me, the Abyss guide was at the firework festival.
but we didn't get a quest from them yet. So they are possibly one of the quests. Flight is still a shoe-in for the other.
im confused how those'll play out, since in my head flight guide will be outfits, and passage will be masks
remembrance for props (?) and abyss for... uhhh.. i dunno!
Thanks for the heads up.
When I evebtually get around to doing that event, I'll be shure to share my photos on the channel
Admittedly I've only one one firework festival so far (the times do not line up well with my schedule) so I don't know if the 4 guides that were there are always the same (Performance, Enchantment, Abyss, and Dreams). The music does play a variation that merges the melody of those 4 seasons, but who knows if there are more versions composed
.
I have to be honest though I wasn't thinking about Flight getting a space in the closet shop, because they also have to open the windpath for us between Aviary and Wind Paths, sort of like how Performance opens the quantum doorway to Harmony Hall.
gonna go to this current festival
yeah, im not really sure how that quest would play out if the result of their quest would be to open that path up, but i guess they'd have to be involved somehow? my thoughts are they pop up over by the sign, it prompts you to do flight quests, then when done that opens up and they make a home for themself somewhere in aviary
Yeah like the performance guide standing infront of the Aviary Harmony Hall entrance until you complete the quest.
Alright I did the festival again. same four guides. The Performance Guide stands in front of the IAP shop, Enchantment in front of their shop, Dreams in front of the Hair entrance to the clothes shop, and Abyss in front of the cape entrance of the clothes shop.
If it was to be a hint towards a specific building, I'd expect them all to correlate correctly.
Abyss really only has the dive mechanic, but there's not much water in aviary itself. but hey, maybe it's just some chill area, since there's places for contruction deeper in, and more buildings on the second level.
I saw a manta during the fireworks festival- it had a black outline rather than the typical gold/yellow is that a different variant of it?
It flies across the aviary village before disappearing into the clouds at the end
It might be a lighting glitch or maybe it’s a special manta for the fireworks festival only
Fair enough
Suppose that the wind path in Aviary were to work, where would you suppose it would lead?
- To the wind paths (season of Flight area)? This would be a likely option, if not a convenient shortcut to the area.
- To a different realm? If so, which one and how come?
- To Dawn (I would love this idea to link Aviary with the realm)
- New season areas. (seeing that the flight area does this, and yet has not been update to other areas afterwards.) Suppose this and the rest of the cloudy space beyond would be an extension of the windpaths system.
What new areas could there be if there were windpaths to connect them? (this is more fanon fodder, but still fun to explore)
Also, speaking of a new way to access future season areas. I see the tunnel to the Little Prince's area in Vault has been updated. (spoiler alert for those wanting to check it out first)
|| The Little Prince and Aurora areas are now accessible through there. I wonder what other season could be there.
Seeing these two were collab season, it would be safe to assume that if a third mural appears in there, it would be another collab season. ||
the festival version of Aviary has a functional wind path, which leads to Wind Paths.
The entrance to that wind path has a small island reminiscent of Aviary's entrance area.
oh!?
I must have missed that, my bad
Welp, that blows that theory out of the water XD
Admittedly for the second one, you can't really get a good look at it unless you force you way past the storm wall blocking it from the flight direction. The wind wall there will kick you right out if you're airborne.
Here's the reply chain where I mess with the barriers there and eventually get through.
lol, When I checked, it did have the wind barrier.
Then again, when you mentioned it does take you to flight paths, I figured it must have been disabled at some point and I did not check it again.
it still has the wind barrier on both ends, but for some reason the festival version doesn't.
It is possible it may have been an oversight, or a gap in the planning.
It is odd for the paths to be open for a specific time, and tied to an event.
Wouldn't they want skykid to have that all the time, or what?
I hope that may be changed after the season ended, and the opening of the wind path would be tied to completing the season and not an event.
yeah I figure the festivale is in like a post season state since it'll be reused. it may also explain the presence of Abyss guide.
i saw it too, tho also recently i saw the hopeful steward's sparkler during the festival as being dark-blue-ish instead of light, and my friend's had a weird glitch recently where butterflies show up black, so I think there may just be some issue going on?
the black butterfly glitch has been going on since aurora i think, after you do those memories the butterflies turn black until you restart the game
When the last tree in Hidden Forest has fallen and the rivers in Golden Wasteland are poisoned, you cannot eat darkstone oh no
Black butterflies are a bug.
It would be interesting to see Dark Butterflies canonically in the game though.
You know its funny how vault elder mask writings is based on a book
And it looks like ancient persian handwriting
Imagine if we could read it
Yo wait that does resemble cuneiform
It does, this is familiar to older conversations and theories about them 🙂
What exactly does the pic show? Is that like their headdress thing? I’m trying to find clearer pics
The picture is of the an old model for the Vault elder. This is found in the elder shard memory from season of Shattering.
The reason why I say it is an old model is becuase the stone elders in that memory are very much the same ones from Light Awaits OOB (Blue Eden).
The forest elder though is an exception lol.
i dont think its directly translates to anything. in the middle, there's just one symbol that's been rotated 4 times, and then below are several unorderly symbols basically just copy pasted
yeah its obv meant to resemble cuneiform, i think that's intentional with the wedge shapes here, but most of these don't even match up with symbols on any simplified cuneiform 'alphabet'
now, i do like the fun implications that this could have been an early form of a writing system that evolved into those more blocky looking rune shapes we see on bells and such
Is there a lore reason for the wing light children? Are they shards of the king that came down as light instead of children, frozen in time? Any theories?
I believe the official name for them is "Imprints of the Children of Light"
Personally, I see them as a sort of Sky Kid analog to the spirit memories we relieve in the realms.
Like echoes of sky kids past?
There are few from what I recall in this chat for a while.
Some suggest they are pieces of light (like fallen stars, or motes of Light). Others suggest they are pieces of the King/Prince (almost like memory fragments).
Some even wonder if they are souls of fallen skykids.
I cannot recall who said what exactly, these are just what was roughly recalled. (I'll grab a list from the chat in a bit).
But what is certain is the game has them for lore and game mechanic reasons.
Lore wise, the game is cryptic about their placement and reason. The ancestor do not seem to notice them, although they do give their own form of light as a Wing Buff (which works the same as winged light, except you can only claim them in Orbit).
Game mechanic wise, they are collectable players find and progress through the game with. This progression is not directly tied to the realms, other than with the spirit gate to Eden, the placement of winged light in the realms and Orbit.
Before them, the game used to have skykid sacrifice their memories with the ancestors (the emotes). This proved tedious as more spirits were added and skykids had to relive their memories each time to get the emotes back.
The change has helped skykids keep their emotes, and the amount of wing light is an independent system tied to skykid's flying ability and supposed health.
I feel like since sky kids are insinuated to be bits of the king it would make sense that they may stand as memories and fragments, which could be cool
Skybot.
This is a lorechat.
Deleting a piece of research could be seen as a cardinal sin (in my opinion)
If folks would ever wonder why this chat may be dead some days, why regular users or veterans who learned so much about the game tend to drop out, or why there may be a cycle of people joining here looking to learn about the lore and possible end up misinformed about what lore could be.
Then this may be one of the many reasons.
The game is about connecting to people.
The server is a place for a community to have fun.
This channel is for people looking to talk and learn about the lore.
Did I waste 30 min reading back in the chat here to collect a few links, yes.
Did that message get deleted with absolutely no reason or warning about it, also yes.
Am I annoyed, of course.
But was going through the effort doing that? Most likely not.
I guess, this channel is a glorified ruin of lore, memes and thousands of conversations that echo back for about 4 years.

Welp, dont expect grand theories or effort into sharing any research about the lore here.
I'd happily share, help look up, or talk about the lore.
Though perhaps should not waste time trying to figure out the lore of Sky.
Especially with the double edged idea that it is 'open to interpretation'.
That alone makes any possible canon theory no more valuable than fanon 💀
And any canon event would become a guideline than actual canon
It is fun looking into stuff on a shorter scale I suppose.
And having this kind of research available is a great guide when it comes to creating fan works.
I wonder if it's possible to get skybot to lower the strictness in this channel. it's a bit of a shame it doesn't make use of the auto mod feature, which still lets you see your own message that failed to send, but I suppose that's a #contact-the-mods situation...
Oh! I need to check out the Jellyfish cove, since the demo players had the area changed a bit to add the statue and flower and lowered the tide.
Lorechat is like a sandbox.
The problem is though, there are not enough shovels to dig deep, nor would the rules of said sandbox really allow for that.
Because:
- There is not enough sand to do that and share with everyone at the same time.
- Not everyone would want to do that and rather do their own thing.
- Keeping everyone happy is an impossible feat, however can be roughly met with some compromises.
Put like this.
The sandbox is a nice start to get into the lore and be part of a community.
But for those who like to go deeper than what the box allows, you are better off leaving the box and digging some place else.
As well as the rules of the sandbox may be reasonable to everyone, but does limit how far you can go with learning about the deeper parts of the lore (again, if that is something people would want. Best move on to other places, sadly).
I sadly see why older users here eventually leave. While newer users learn about the lore.
Until they learned all they can and leave themselves and the cycle repeats..
That would be an option.
And yet, it would be difficult to do with a mod team that are likely volunteers.
That and changing rules here, would mean the other channels might also need to be seen.
Not to mention if the dev team (TGC) would be fine with it
(an unrelated but small case and point. People in the game cannot ask players their Discord details in chat. But are fine to talk about the Sky Discord. Player safety and private info aside of course.)
Yeah it's a concept that's easier said than done given the scale of this server.
yup
one of the plethora of definitions of "steward" i found was: "a person whose responsibility it is to take care of something"
this might be hinting at the hopeful steward's occupation to protect and take care of aviary village
One of the things I know about steward as a word, is it's used as the standin ruler for when the king is away on campaign or too young to rule, so could indicate what happened to the mysterious king character hinted at
Does the skater from Dreams have an official name?
OMG that could be the only spirit who doesn't have a "tree", the quests mentioning them call them the skater, but not sure if that's the "official" name
I just call them Aspiring Skater or something
Young Skater is what she/they're called in quests for Season of Dreams, but they dont have an official name
Ohh ok
The game calls them "the skater".
I know players in the game sometimes call them 'skater girl'. However, this would be their interpretation of the spirit, even though the game does not seem to stipulate them as a 'girl'.
The reason why stems from TGC saying they present the characters in Sky without genders (leaving that up to the player's interpretation).
How often does the fireworks festival happen? (sorry if this isn't the correct channel)
The reason why I think it's not a glitch is that the Manta doesn't look cursed like the butterflies are
It looks like a normal manta with a black outline than its typical yellow and gold one
Tho- now seeing the butterflies again.. You might be right
It may be best to ask in #questions-and-help
The game may give a time till the next one starts.
Hope this helps.
Genuine question is the Eden Elder still alive? I mean ik all elders are dead especially Isle of Dawn Peepaw (sorry-)
But their spirits/soul is still present in the realms
But I noticed in the aviary village the Eden portal door, the Eden Elder eyes are wide open and glowing
The first pic is of is in old home, and the second is in Aviary Village
Also, idk but I think it winked at me or was my game glitching- either way seeing it wink terrifies me a bit
And ik in the Eden social area you need to unlock the big door where the eyes glow so you can enter Eden. Why I assumed the Eden elder is dead like permanently dead- is because we don't have any memory of it besides hints from the game and mural drawing
Yes it's just a graphics thing but i noticed it too during the fireworks event and it terrified me lol
Like Eden Elder chill- xD
He is winking cuz he knows there's gonna be lore soon about him- (probably xD idk)
Anyways- seeing it glows wouldn't that mean Aviary Village potential have more story on what happen to Eden Elder to make it glow- or it's just us getting forced to help hopeful steward revive the spirits in Eden .-.
heya lore ppl! remember those crystals we found in prairie peaks, do u think they are the things that make up the power diamonds?
Dark Crystal Stone in its purest form! Tbh it looks like candy to me
mmm blue raspberry darkstone rock candy
A seasonal addition to Eden could be cool.
Though it seems most players are not a fan of being forced to do Eden Runs, and even the second area is a bit of a challenge to scale if you aren't using the OOB route.
Though are we sure that mask is the Eden Elder's, as opposed to one of the other Elders? Like it looks similar to Vault's
Apparently some players are getting an Eden door cutscene after relieving the elder, perhaps one of those players can check the vault cutscene for us?
i remember this one!
Aw, that's a bit bummer- but I can check the door to see how many masks are in there it most likely vault tho
Where is that from?
vault elder’s cutscene! this shot is followed by the player being tp’ed to a room leading to eden
Ah sorry, There's a new cutscene added after the normal cutscene.
Flight Guide Cosplay recorded this one of the Forest Elder.
#seasons-events-chat message
Ooh! Okay, now I need to rewatch all the elder's cutscene. I especially love the Isle of Dawn Sailormoon transformation scene
mind that only a subset of players get this second Eden door cutscene. it seems you only get it if you have a single switch infront of eden, rather than the normal 5.
LOLL personally,,,prairie’s cutscene is sucha mood how can i not love it
I was wondering something, about cosmic mantas
Upon completing the rememberance quests, the mantas react to it and then leave the area
Do they have a relationship with these grieving spirits?
The Astral Manta call spirit is called Memory Whisperer...
I mean they are dead like the spirits are! So they have one thing in common (sorry if it's a bit dark-)
Nooo..
Are cosmic mantas themselves memories then?
I guess that does explain how they kinda just poof out of existence near the end of vault
Would the mantas leaving the rememberance spirits represent them moving on from their past then?
now that i think about it…theyre really only present in vault—right?
Tho they do have something specific to them that turn into ghostie
Like the one place in vault we see a manta skelly with candles around it
Well, maybe. Remember that to get the call, you have to use the original manta call in front of a... manta skeleton(?), which summons a tiny astral manta.
Some spirits still around the soldier and that child spirit if you visit the area- I can't help but cry seeing them with the sad music and all-
Does it have candles before? To summon the call
yeah you light the 5 candles to activate the prompt to use the call.
Hmm- safe to assume that cosmic manta isn't natural like normal mantas
But they do hold memories of themselves before they turn ghosts- so I guess it is fitting with the whole Season of Remembrance theme
Actually- I kinda saw them flying around once while I was candle run in there and checking what spirits are presence
Tho.. It was just like a quick glimpse but I didn't pay attention to it (sorry)
lorechat this is interesting.
the number of stars on your cape doesnt show in your reflection on the floor of the shard memory. does anyone know why that is?
Some possible enchantment / spells / blessing lore,
Some of the spells appear to be made from crushed flowers that we see in Prairie and Aviary, and are collected in bunches at the performance stage in Valley.
Maybe they are what allows you to grow and shrink?
they are probably what allow us (and the spirits) to procure resize potions, or recharge spells.
they seem to be created to be placed in potion bottles and not the spells that allow u to try on different outfits or use various limited/permanent props, as these are probably only for game mechanics
Yes, though the cosmetics seem to be made of the light orbs, and prop spells amongst others of spells written on scrolls? Something to do with rolled up paper anyway
also question, where did u find that image from, of the flower being crushed? is it from enchant's shop
Yes, after the last "main line" revival quest, enchantment guide opens a spell forge shop beside the message boat shop
also @cobalt palm whats ur opinion on this?
I'm not entirely sure, but that floor does have other interesting properties too if you try setting props down or sending off fireworks, I've just finished editing a video about it, which hopefully I'll get uploaded soon.
But it's certainly not just a "mirror"
ive never tried setting down a prop there, thats interesting
I need a season solely focused on Eden, and not like shattering although lorewise it was kind of okay because Aurora connected the dots. But i want to see the Eden Elder. I want to know what happened and his contribution to the kingdom becoming what it is now
@light minnow they are still here! Only these two spirits from the season of remembrance stay (also the guide)
i wish tea brewer and veteran were there as well but it seems like they cant be implemented in the code as of now, unless this is a bug to which i desperately want kept.
Ngl same qwq Veteran is my favorite spirit and I want to comfort him so much.
How tall is a sky kid irl? I don't care what unit of measurement. Id assume 3 ft or so
This is a hard question because we need fixed scale of known height.
but most doorknobs are about a meter off the ground, and the office has normal doors, so I'm going to stop by there and then measure my own sky kid's height.
But this isn't very hard proof because the office is non-canon
hopefully I didn't botch this.
Your estimate seems sound, though remember there is a lot of variation in the heights.
Apologies, the measurement website is https://skykidheight.com/ by NathanWolf
hmmhmhmmm
for some reason, I'm reminded of the cuckoo that was raised by house sparrows that I got to watch over this summer.
presumably sky kids would have outlived their ancestor parental figures, potentially even multiple times. does that cause any reluctance to continue associating with ancestors in a lomg term way?
on the oposite side, I could see Ancestors with a bit of empty nest syndrome adopting sky kids to have younger kids around the house again. hopefully not to cat lady levels...
Kinda brings the question, do sky kids grow up, and become adults, or would they ascend through eden and be reborn like light creatures and never end up growing old?
( the spells for size refer to you as adult/baby, maybe they could but theyd make the trip to eden first usually? )
Imagine you adopt a kid and when they hit 10 they run off like a pokemon trainer towards eden
oh i highly doubt skykids grow up in any way comparable to humans
Maybe they seem to get a little older over like. a few decades but i think "functionally a 14 year old" would be the absolute maximum (aside from the valley twins they're the worlds most mature skykids. 17-18 beautiful mental years old and very good at acting like adults)
hmmm. Good question. Honestly in my opinion I think Skykid Don't Caare. they're very lighthearted and have an incredibly casual relationship with death. Itd... probably depend on how permanent death is for ancestors but assuming theres any level of "this is the same person" between rebirths i doubt the skykids would be too affected
itd suck ofc but theyd bounce back a lot faster than if it was the other way around
i just. Im thinking about the ancestor kids who grew up playing with skykids. may as well be a part of the flock. invite their friends home to hang out. nobody cares that theyre different.
and... yeah those ancestors will grow up and the skykids won't. but theres something very sweet about it
your best friend hasn't changed a bit. you remember running off into the woods to play with them when you were little. you remember clinging to their arms as they tried to fly with you in tow. you're far too big for that now, but one day maybe you have kids of your own and you can introduce them to eachother,
like just imagine generations of ancestors growing up along the same few skykids who hang out by that village. just. ough..... a new little mothlet falling there and the skykids are just SO enthusiastic to introduce them, just as much as any ancestor kids are to meet them. so very different yet that doesn't matter, does it? nothing alike but they both know how to play tag and hide and seek so who cares, really?
I heard that sky kids have "genetics" in that the maximum and minimum height for each player is actually random? Not by a lot but enough that not everyone has the same max height. Haven't seen it confirmed tho.
Hmmmmmm, deliberate similarities or coincidence....? (collage by @hushed steeple from #lore-discussion-spoilers message )
So assuming the door to the office is normal height, then i guess a moth would be around 3 ft
Ty
This rather looks like a deliberately different design.
There's only so many times you can make a star or sparkle imagery and not have it look similar, but this one explicitly looks more like a snowflake (or rather, the explosion of firework) than the King's 4-pronged star/8-pronged sparkle.
it might be a little closer to the full meter, my sky kid's default height is slightly smaller than the base height.
Oh ok
someone did a calculation of this a long time ago using the size of a real game award in the real tgc office, based on that the default height is about 3’2”
That makes sense, though according to the skykidheight website, I am 3'2", but I'm also approximately -0.25 in my scale.
Though I guess I don't really know much about the hidden internal height modifier.
Ah seems like it's 3'3" for 0.000 scale
I been summoned. Cool.
I have a little idea about this. It might include two embers. If Stew is the other kid, what if he has his own star symbol shiny thing?
Is Sky animation project and Sky:Two embers are the same or it's 2 different project
Also what kind of film do yall think two embers will be? Pantomime or a full movie?
Same thing i think, and i think they said it was going to be a series of videos

Baudshaw was one of the users here who calculated the height of skykids (he used Aurora as a reference)
Skykids are at most 3 feet tall. Which is pretty short, but they are kids after all.
Granted, that is still very short even if one were to look up what a 3 feet tall youngster would be.
According to several sources, a toddler (1-3 years old) would on average be around 3 feet tall.
However, one can also take into account whether skykids would generally shorter compared to a human child.
With Genetics taken into account, one may see people's heights may vary. Where some people can be smaller than others, and thus can be older compared to a person of similar height, but genetically inclined to be taller.
This in turn can bump up the age range to 9 (as a guess seeing that would take way more research than what I would be bothered to do on here).
Another possible factor would be a skykids' scale.
Let's suppose a skykid is created/born to be a bit smaller. Which would suggest a skykid could be much older compared to a human toddler.
I would imagine if this were to be the case, skykids could be like halflings, or hobbits in this regard.
But back to the original point.
3 feet for skykids seems to be the go to.
As other users came to a similar answer before Baudshaw.
you cannot eat candle oh no
Preaty shure its deliberate
TGS loves to recycle failed or unused ideas into the curent game
Still hoping for a fishmobile to make some kind of comeback😅
I would be exstatic to see these in the game.
The Felicious Visitor (flying stone dragon for days of fortune / new year) is what I believe is one of these creations.
And I would love to see more of them in the game.
Who knows, maybe some of them could be flying shops, others could be part of events, and some could even be new enemies with them beign corrupted, lol.
Why @nimble ingot, you never told me you could read minds🤣
Honestly, the only place I would see these makeing any kind of combat is in a Waistland seasonal area
The same way that the Abyss was a cutting edge exprimental city that focused on pushing the darkstone crafts, so to could another island in the Lux Mera ( my personal headcanon name😅 ) focuse on other forms of darkstone mmagi-tech
I had this idea for a while where what if a new area opened up.
Some place in the Hidden Forest where the fog is thick and the air is tense.
The walls surround you like a mouse in a maze.
You timidly trot from one hallway to the next and you start to hear a hum.
A droning rumble that slowly gets louder until you see it.
A large fish like statue floating and patroling down the passage, with its eyes aglow in a blue light, searching in a very similar way as the Krill.
The difference though is when you get spotted by this creature. It screams and moves down the hallway. The speed is much slower to a krill, while it chomps maniacally with its red eyes.
It continues to do this for a short range (at least up to where it say a skykid), then it stops of a second and returns to its seeking state.
It is basically a slower and clunkier version of a krill. Albeit a bit smaller (about a medium sized manta).
Another crazy contraption could be one inspired by a jellyfish. Where it ambushes skykids and captures them in a cage like trap.
It would not hurt them directly, but would hold them in place for a bit.
They can either escape with a few loud calls, using their candle to burn the shard inside the body that is in the cage with the skykid.
Or it would hold them for a few seconds and drain some of their light (like dark water). To a lit skykid, it would possibly snuff thier light. To an unlit skykid, it woud likely cost them 1 wl.
I really like this idea. And I think it does make a lot of sence within this world.
We know that Light has the power to shapes mater and is a great sorce of energy, among many other properties and abileties, so through a proces of fusing Light with very specific plants and other materials in precise methods, one is able to create predictible and replecatile spells.
From creating slight alterations to ones phisical form (size change), to sumaning fireworks, to giving you slight levetation, to just acting as a light energy bad (light refill)....
All of the non cosmetic spells in the game have effects that have there origin in properties that we have seen in Light

🤩🤩🤩
You must save this idea in google doc
Lore wise, this could be a case of experimenal darkstone tech that never really made it do mass market (for lack of a better word) before the shatering put a stop on everyones plans.
Right now it acts as guardians to a temple where (insert story ) was happening, following there last comand with nobudy left that knows how to turn reprogram them
I know that at least at one point (in concept art) there was an idea to have mechanical creature be in Sky alongside their natural counterparts.
case and point.
✨ Racing machines ✨
Quite true (hence the fish mobile concept I sent😅 )
Another exelant idea.
Honestly I could see this being original created to capture mantas and other such light creatures for the purpuse of crystal production
I could see this going 2 ways though
- There used as cages to captured light creatures, draining them of there surplus light so they could be more docile and easyer to transport back
- They drain a lot of energy on location without bringing them back (perhaps an atempt at a more sustainable light stealing method)
Hmmm, now I got a though
How big is a chiby head compared to the rest of there body.
Our heads dont grow as much as the rest of our body after all, and a chibi is basicly baby sided.
So if our chibi heads are smaller then that of a baby, that that kinda indicates sky kids are just smaller then humans in general
That idea was inspired by an enemiy from Sonic Heroes called a Klagen (or Jellyfish)
You play as a team of characters that you can switch to each one as the leader for different formations and attack styles. It is a fun mechanic that sounds complicated, but easy in the game. (basically, you play with types, speed, power, and flight. Each one lets you progress with the obstacles you face).
These enemies would capture one of your team's characters. This would also limit your team's abilities depending on which character was taken, lol.
This capture mechanic is a fun obstacle I love seeing in games. As it does not directly hurt you, and adds variety to the game's challenges.
I would estimate them being 2-2 1/2 heads tall (in art terms)
Their heads seemingly takes roughly up a third of their body.
Chibis are definelty like toddlers.
Head size in relation to the body does make characters seem older or younger depending on the balance.
The elders for example have small heads compared to their bodies (especially when looking at Dawn, Day and Wasteland)
This also helps make the Valley twins seem younger with thier bodies more comparable to their heads, lol.
2 1/2....thars about the head to body proportions of a <1 year old
And were as tall as a one year old when chibi
So the math chacks out
:>
And yes, i do understand what you mean about the proportions.
Like I said, our heads dont really grow as much over the course of our lifes, its just our bodies that get longer and bulkier as we age
So there is an uncontious tik that makes humans asociate smaller head to body ratio with youth and childlike qualities, while a larger ration invokes the oposite
Fun fact, eyes are the only organ that does not grow larger with our bodies.
This is why kids have proportionally bigger eyes than adults.
In art and media, this is often a feature for characters to exaggerate. To make a character look younger, their eyes can be made a bit bigger.
This is why chibi skykids' eyes are bigger compare to their heads than bigger skykids, lol.
Yup☺️
There is a whole feald of study conected with this phenomenon
I think its was called something like....neoteny,,,,something like that🤔
Interesting.
This somewhat reminds me of this theory in anime where it is said the facial features are based off cats.
The rounded big eyes, the small noses, the sly mouths.
Bigger eyes not only makes the characters seem younger than what they may be presented as, but also add emphasis on their expressions.
I know most artists would give skykids golden coloured eyes when imagined as human (well, with more human features at least lol)
Although some show blue or red eyes at times as well, which is kinda cute.
So I did check just in case, and yes, it is called neoteny
Also I think you need to see this vidoe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aa7tVJXRvjo
ooh!
Thank you, I will 🙂
Its a shot and fun one. I think you'll like it☺️
Humans like cute things. That is the just I got from the video, lol.
The video is a nice explanation on what neoteny is without getting too deep into it.
Loved it. ❤️
thats exactly what I wanted to hear☺️
It reminds me of howl moving castle (Ghibli)
I see your wizard with a heart of a child and raise you Castle in the Sky.
I mean since the sky game going to includes new collab events as their part of the lore- I can definitely see Howl Castle being cooperate there
(sorry for bad grammar/english- I just wake up)
you are ok, lol.
I would be over the moon for a Ghibli collab.
Imagine that!!
The sootballs, no face, calcifer, the cats, Laputa (the castle in the sky), totoro, the deer god, and many more!
Imagine the pendant is calcifer as a heart,,
And for lore-wise, the mecha fish shall be introduced! And more technology/wizard vibes to it
I notice that Aurora and TLP's appearances look the same- is it because they aren't from the Sky Realm?
Um, any idea as to why we all have masks in the game? There must be something deep behind wearing the masks other than it being an in-game cosmetic... Right?
I mean, we all have and wear the mask ever since we're moths. But why?
This is just a random thought that came into my mind.
it has been noted that with the one mask-less mask, the eyes remain close. somehow, a sky kid only keeps their eyes open if they have a mask on.
I think masks are a form of self-expression in some way. There may be other uses for masks in the world of Sky. Kind of like:
- To show what group are they a part of
- To show what family are they a part of
- To show alliance or connections
That's what I think. Self-expression and to show one's involvement in a group they are a part of
I think that every "mandatory" cosmetic in sky has a little channeled light in it, for example:
Capes have WL, channeled light that lets you fly,
Hair is light,
Outfits have a skykid's core in them,
Masks are probably channeled light used for seeing, maybe even other senses as well, after all it is your only fully exposed light,
And the optional ones are probably purely cosmetic.
Hmm, I disagree with the idea that there needs to be a reason for why sky kids have masks. I do there is one but there doesn't need to be one just because it's ubiquitous.
I'm way more invested in Sky spirits lore. I thought we were talking about the purpose of masks for spirits, not the purpose of masks for skykids
Mask for spirit can be considered part of their tradition/culture
And for why our sky kid has a mask. I guess- since we consider the new generation of the spirits, I could assume most sky kids follow the tradition/culture.
And the game kinda simplifies it by making our sky kid have a mask at the beginning (our default mask)
Idk tbh- maybe
Here's a my Theory about the 7 Realms, They resemble life.
Isle of Dawn - Birth, That's why it doesn't have that much content there and it would explain why it's short compare to other Realm.
Daylight Prairie - Childhood, That would explain why it's huge and in the clouds resembling imagination and joy.
Hidden Forest - Adolescence/Teenage years, That would explain why it has rains there, It resemble the pain, rebel and learning more about the world.
Valley of Triumph - Adulthood, Enjoyment in life and starting a family and dreams coming true.
Golden Wasteland - Adulthood, Struggles in life, Fighting it and overcoming challenges.
Vault of Knowledge - Elder, Enjoying life and setting down, Teaching younger generations about life.
Eye of Eden - The end of life, Resembling the end of life the biggest battle of one's life, Before getting rebirth.
this is practically confirmed to be canon! Don't remember where it's said but yeah that's what they were going for here!!!!!
yeah, idk if it's still there but ||there's a poster in the in-game office with those themes labeled!|| (secret area)
Question is the Krills in the season of abyss trap inside the door? (with abyss monster)
Cuz I vividly remember it roams around the gate- cuz I stupidly open it
it should roam inside that area, yeah, I remember going though that spot backwards and the krill were patrolling, but that was before the update.
That's good- can I still access the inside or not?
yeah there's a doorway on the right side, close to the flooded structure where the WL is. (that's the exit technically for that quest)
Ooh, so I can't let my shrimp puppies out? (not like I want them out in the first place-)
Ah sorry, Now I'm a little confused. the krill are on the inside of the structure, not behind the glass where the leviathan is.
you can go through the area for the... second to last(?) abyss quest backwards, and the krill were inside there last I checked.
Well, in-universe there isnt a particular reason why we "must have masks", at lest not that its shown to us.
We have seen very comman spirits who dont have masks, so its not like its mandatory. I think your reasoning mostly holds up.
However, there IS a game design reason why we have masks.
TGS wanted sky kids to not invoke any race or colour in there designs, but be a blank slate for everyone to see themselfs as.
The actual face behind the mask is irrelavent. Its how we express ourselfs that maters
Ohh I see. Thank you for your response!
Ooh- and can I access the place? Or I can't?
Krill seam to have something of a one track mind. Even though many more were free, they still hount the same areas. Its like an instinct
you can, krill are still there.
Ooh, thank you! I need to play with full brightness- cuz it's very dark ||Trial of fire, flashback||
But can I see the abyss monster- or it's for the abyss quest only
quite true, there all still there. Thats how I got these photos after I already finished all the quests
Oh the leviathan. They're far far away out of bounds. I'm not sure if it's possible to see them close up if you clip out.
Aaah- that's alright, I just wanna know TwT. I didn't get to see the cut scene of it thanks to lag during doing that abyss quest
Wait you can see them through the barrier thing?? Why is it blurry for me- T^T
Maby you need a better phone😅
Yeah, ig
I can't redo the quest right?
Unfortunatly not...
I tried😭
Best you can do is replay all the endings where there back on the boat and presenting there treasures, but thats it
Noo..
Cursed you, data and stupid phoneeee...
You can perhaps find a playthrough of the quest on youtube?
I know its deffinetly not the same experiamce, but you can maby try to watch youtoobe vidoe on it
I already did and thank you
I do wish we can revisit the old quest like The Season of Dreams, skater spirit
You are compleatly corect about this ( well, for the most part)
Although what yout talking about is not a theory at all. Its sky fact.
The design of the world of sky and its individual realms are all based on 3 principles
THE TIME OF DAY
- Down
- Noon ( day)
- Afternoon
- Evening
- Dusk
- Night
HUMAN LIFE - birth
- childhood
- adolesence
- adoulthood (maturity)
- middle age (midlife crisis)
- old age
PROGRESS OF CIVILIZATION - primitive sociaty ( nomadic)
- agrerian siciaty (close to nature)
- industrialization
- Peak of civilization
- Downfall ( apocalyps)
- Post apocalyps
This is baked into the whole design of the game, even before any concreat lore was ever established, so its preaty fundational to the whole world.
You can read more about it here
Man I really have no real media comprehension. I knew each realm represented something but now that you've explained I have no idea how I didn’t get it
I feel like the dark creatures had to have naturally existed in a balance with the light ones lol
So from Inhale and Exhale darkness already exists from the bird and manta getting consumed by it
Yeah and the giant krill mom in abyss also exists too
I do agree! I think they happen naturally too- just I wonder if it always like that or if it got purely corrupted by darkness?
But there is one dark creature that I want to see, and still curious about it...
Why don't we have access to the abyss monster's mouth again?
I wanted to see the inside :v
I want that too tbh
Trueee I wonder why the sky people had to hunt light creatures in the first place…
Maybe all of the ones they raised got corrupted?
We also don’t know what non exploding Eden is like either I wonder if most people used to live there with light creatures and then well the crystal exploded and corrupted them all
From what I heard in this channel- they hunt specifically Mantas to make dark stone crystal in Hidden Forest
While Butterfly in prairie, might be the same case too
Oh neat, that’s the machine thingy in forest temple isn’t it?
Well, not to make- more like a source of fuel? Something like that
Ahhhh I see so in order to power things they need to absorb the light from light creatures like the krill’s and crabs do to us that makes sense
Maybe the war was between people who didn’t want to hurt the creatures and people who wanted fuel? Woukd make sense it happened in wasteland then
I don't think crabs eat lights- they just knock the light out of us xDD while Krill do
And very strong and hungry too
I would gladly feed the krill’s tbh if they’re just hungry lol
So I guess the darkness needs light for energy/power and then the sky people harnessed that and then needed to burn more light as a result
Tbh that's what im wondering too! Since the production of dark stone crystal in Hidden Forest- shouldn't they start a war there?
But I guess G.W. Mass produces it to the point that the area gets polluted by it-
That would explain the polluted water in wasteland
Maybe hidden forest started it and then realized what they had made and stopped using it? Cuz we do have to turn it on in the temple to continue forward but untill we do that it is locked up
…if the Eden crystal is an originator of darkness and the whole war is about that and using it as a power source… maybe that’s why in the elder memory all the elders are there trying to take it for their realm?
I can assume that most spirits and our sky kids are made of light itself- Light simply recharges us for us to restore our light- and a good source for spirits and sky kids to have for them nearby as company
But Spirits kinda abused them in some way- reference from warrior of love from the Aurora concert
True
I guess so- the door mechanics in there are hard to open xD and can be only accessed from the inside
I think they miscalculated the side effects of the crystal- they want to become advanced in a way that harms the environment that they didn't notice at first (G.W. For reference)
So in the last memory of shards maybe the Elders tried to destroy it but it took their life in the process
Basically "We started it. We need to end it." kinda stuff xD
Ohhhh maybe!
Also, this is just a theory- non-canon (don't take it lightly)
It still left more question tho
I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT THE WAR IS ABOUT AND WHO STARTS IT

Oh and more depth about creatures of light (Also, darkness monsters like Krill and Abyss monster)
Season of war when tgc
Oooo
We kinda have that xD season of remembrance is about spirits getting affected by the aftermath of war- which makes me cry till this day
True I wanna see it actually going on tho could potentially be a really cool@thing
Tho one thing I learned from that season- some spirits are forced to join the war
Season of remembrance part 2 maybe xDD
Hi! Anyone also curious about how calls work? And not only skykids do it but also other light creatures and spirits, so maybe it's light related? Thanks!
I'm not sure if its a simple as mimicking a sound or not, but even ancestors seem to have been quite capable of it, and even crabs have what the game calls a call, and even the spirit memory ghosts have a similar thing
krills and the leviathan have the visual effect of a call, so i think their roars count as a call too
Ooh maybe it's like voices in sky, but in game they can't make an entire language of honks, but maybe there is one, and it's kind of like human language, and with the other creatures it's like how birds chirp in real life, or other animal noises. (sorry i get enthusiastic when i get ideas)
Oh true, they have that same effect. So any creature, really. It all being like basically a sound wave, it must be pretty important for every creature in sky to communicate audibly with one another
||sound is more than half the experience
||
have a theory:
whales are, in fact, not krills. In fact, whales might belong to an entirely different genus to mantas-- basically completely unrelated.
Mantas are also not krills except a certain select subspecies. That subspecies does not exist in the game anymore. However, that subspecies is featured in the two embers trailer.
The sanctuary whale manta is the corrupted leviathan in abyss.
I'll try to answer as many questions as i can
has anyone talked about this bit of the mural in the passage seasonal area? it's cute but im also wondering who's being depicted with the guide. is it the student spirits or ones we've not met?
it sorta looks like the 4 spirits in some capacity plus a sky kid but i just thought the hair shapes looked different for the two on the right of the guide
Literally have no idea about this, Since I began playing again
Ok guys do you know about the Golden wasteland noises?
Those random noises that will play during golden wasteland at random intervals (usually) at the beginning. And are vaguely scary, I think those are somewhat of an echo of the past battle that brought the wasteland to ruin in the first place
Those are the students + guide + skykid
okay thanks
I do believe that whales are large fish. There may be convergent evolution between elder manta + whales (both have hardened jaws) but when you get the whale whisperer call it has a fish icon. Plus, the whales in the game swim side-to-side, like fish, while the mantas move up-to-down, like whales irl. Kind of ironic if you think about it.
As for if the whales turn into krill… they could, but there’s a mural in the treasure reef that depicts (what is probably) mantas turning into krill. So I think the krill come from elder mantas.
I posite a third idea
You know that giant manta you see in the second to last floor of the vault? I've always felt that looks strikingly similar to the krill in some vague way and looking at it close up they honestly have a few similarities.
I just realized how so many creatures are sea creatures, manta rays, krills, crabs lol
In a sense, their real world counterparts do appear to be "flying" underwater. Even some crab species can swim underwater to an extent, so it is not to far to say these creatures would do something similar in a fictional universe based off of flying among other modes of transportation
I was have forgotten that the Sanctuary sea Turtle has a call when I did the susnet event with it yesterday.
Too bad there is no ancestor whisperer to teach skykids how to use that call.
Who knows though, perhaps we not only get a spirit who can give us the Turtle call, but also bring the baby sea turtles (as they should have been introduced alongside the big one in my opinion.)
Here is an image for reference: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
And another image (not a promotion, by the way, more like a protest) a free emoji for folks: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
I’m hoping for a turtle whispering spirit 🤞
If you are talking about the noise in Golden Wasteland social space- thanks to this fella
Guys will the story continue after the eye of Eden?
I think the seasons do help in expanding more of Sky's world building
Though, Sky lore is open to interpretation and there's canon information in lore. You can check the pinned messages of this channel for resources for your Sky lore needs
Hey, I just had a thought about the origin of the elders, accompanied by the past events that we're talking about up to this day. This ain't canon, so yeah.
So basically, we all know that Starlight had given breath to those who lived in the world of sky. And that the first ones were happy to live that they wished and hoped that they'd go back to the stars.
So what I thought is that the Eye of Eden elder might actually be the first living human that lived in the world of sky, along with the other elders. As if they're the first to step foot into the world.
I'm taking it quite similar to a biblical approach, as seen in the first book in the Bible. Genesis. Where God created the sun, moon, and world. It can be quite similar to the events prior to the beginning of the world of sky.
Or it could be that Starlight has a kingdom purely made of light far above, to which I think it could be seen as a constellation in our perspective. And that the seven elders came from that same kingdom and set foot into the world, using the power Starlight has granted them.
Maybe it was all supposed to happen. Maybe even the deadliest event of the red crystal bursting in the Eye of Eden that may have wiped out the entire past existence of the world of sky with a big fat shockwave had a pretty good reason with a cost of doing so. In my POV, it could be as if we're being tested/maybe it is written as a prophecy. Everything happens for a reason, don't they?
I'm pretty sure it's the same students from Passage and it's really cute to see this
rightt i think it's cute
It's probably just me or something, but does anyone else notice that the Performance Guide, as a seasonal guide, is considered the "loser"?
Looking at the rest of the guides, they all look like they have an idea of what they're doing.
Dreams Guide is an endearing parent to the skater girl.
Sanctuary Guide is basically an environmentalist with a heart of gold.
Rhythm Guide leads a traveling group and is known throughout the kingdom of Sky.
Prophecy Guide is mostly the lore keeper and teacher.
But then we have Performance Guide, who leads a small theater troupe in the Village of Dreams, practically babysitting their own group and consecutively runs into problems. They're also one of the few guides who has the most interactions with the sky children in their friendship tree.
But if you compare them to the rest of the guides ... Performance Guide is honestly a loser but we love them.
I wouldn't really call him a loser
He got his own home in the aviary, gets to participate in the festival
And i don't think running into problems for single handedly managing a theater group makes him a loser, rather the opposite
Idk if performance/rhythm are related or lovers- (it depends on how you see it)
But from what I see the performance guide aims to be like the rhythm guide- they want to prove themselves of what they can do (with our help while they are standing and watching- /h /s)
At the end of the quest you can see Rhythm Guide is proud of what Performance Guide has achieved like a sibling that is proud of your achievements
Also, the same situation when a younger sibling sees their older sibling achieve something or someone you idolized and wants to follow in their footsteps that are on the same path (but not straight up copying it), so they can see your effort and are proud of it
Something that has been driving me crazy recently is the idea of other sky kids. Do you guys think in Canon we're alone in the world or are there others like us(i.e other players) in the Canon of the story. I've flip flopped on yes or no for the past week
You might view their story as like an inexperienced or new guide spirit trying to help the spirits in their group, but are having a lot of trouble with it so we come over to help em deal more directly with the spirits. Rhythm guide would probably be proud of them being able to fulfil that part of their sorta role in sky too, heh
I feel like it would have to be, if ignoring more mechanical stuff like two person doors, we see all our friends names in orbit at the end, and its just full of other sky kids
Honestly it gives me major theatre kid vibes and im loving every part of that season quest
Yes. This. This was exactly what I was thinking. I couldn't think of the best way to describe them, but yes they are more inexperienced than the other guides.
They're actually siblings so lovers is kinda pushing it
I don't want to ruin people's headcanon so I go with both
Like.. if we look at some other guides recently, passage guide is quite capable on their own of handling all those crazy kids.
remembrance guide is like, unsure at all what to do but you help them get the memories needed and then theyre like oh yeah, lets build some nice spaces for these people ( they probably cant build it themselves and need your help )
Yeah I would understand Remembrance Guide needing our help because they're technically dead and can't physically touch anything that's not ethereal.
Performance guide might have been more of an instructor at harmomy hall or something and didnt know how to help people through stuff but ended up a guide
They were just chosen as a guide by chance 😅
I don't blame them tbh xD since some of the spirit has stage fright and can be forgetful
However, I am confused ( a little bit) with the abyss guide- are they a captain?
Captain's daughter
Aahh! Now that make senses
ahh i can definitely see that
Wait, so how is the Abyss Guide a seasonal guide if she's not even the captain of the crew?
I guess she might be the next captain if something happen to her dad- maybe she is following his foot steps
Oh okay so basically next of kin
Yeppo
That's true but it also be that he was a placeholder for Rhythm Guide since he's one of the OG guides. And because they're twins, they probably just went
and dragged them to the festival.
Rhythm was probably too busy to attend the festival so they just had Performance go in their place
Isn't rhythm in the hair salon? Or I mistaken it with another spirit-
yep, and another spirit from rhythm
Oh welp, there are too many and the name can get a bit hefty to remember for me personally
Baffled Botanist legit took me almost an hour to find- idk where they are at one point (during dailies)
The OG guides aren't the ones brought to festival though
It's the ones who got a quest in there
That's dreams, performance, enchantement and moments
Not rythm
Actually not moments for some reason, but for the 3 others yes
Moment is too old probably xD and let Abyss join them instead as a surprise
Either way
None of the OGs are at festival
So it's not like performance is just a placeholder or something
They got their house here, they got their quest here and they got their place at the festival
I mean kinda make sense since the quest aren't available for new players for the OG's one
maybe those guides are retired, and performance guide needed to take rhythm's spot
Moment is chilling with them during the firework festival xD
Grandma's still giving us food though
Actually, when can TGC give her a home in the Aviary village?
I dunno if she'll have one at all but she deserves one for sure
Ngl would be cool for a tree portal that teleports us there (good for speed run for dailies)
grandma is gonna need a second teleporter if shes in old home, aviary, and by the table LOL
Granny mitosis
Grandma is the ELDER for sky children here xD (free wax, can visit during day of feast)
She can just teleport to where she's needed
But yeah i really don't see why perf would be filling in someone else's spot
They got all the reasons to have their own spot
Honestly, I thought Revival was centered towards the four original guides, but we got the newer generation instead.
Excluding Enchantment, because he's one of the originals.
I mean- they should let them visit and roam around tbh
Well
Enchabt is here and he's old
enchantment is the oldest who still stands in their area with quests i think, though
Are we just going to collectively agree with the fact that Enchantment Guide is old?
I mean
He's the first of the guide to still be accessible
im guessing TGC plan to slowly add most of the guides into aviary, as the area gets bigger and is expanded
i wait every day for flight guide to show up
they're probably going to show up in-season, to open up the wind path
Honestly, I stumble across the enchantment guide by mistake- I went the wrong boat. Tho glad it happen
And then I realized that Enchantment Guide is a very vital spirit because of the spell shop he has
What about Abyss guide tho?? Why was she included in Aviary- I can see her being part of refugees or something and Aviary is a safe space for them-
Else, TGC just want to scare moth off xD (or just giving interesting lore to players that enjoy the game story)
Probably too busy sailing the seas with her peepaw and crew
so one of the spots in the building has what looks like a big fireplace ( ceramics firing? ) and the
moon symbol just right on a stand which looks like it could hold masks that literally just screams "masks here"
but, there are face accessories and necklaces still and the spot is pretty big and could fit a few guides - abyss could probably be necklaces or face accessories, seeing as the spirits in abyss have bits of jewelry in their outfits being little bits of darkstone. proximity to masks also might make sense if they were getting into mask repairs, heh.
Ooh! Like a a treasure necklace! (that we bought
)
Tbh if a trading system is implemented in Sky I can see the abyss crew doing it
Wait can we ever free our world from the darkness, like will it ever happen?
originally i thought we had 1 quest left with outfits and masks not filled out yet, then that quest was for fireworks festival, and we had two more quests instead.
so many open slots and not enough quests to do them
im guessing next season will fill out more things
As long it isn't assembly- moff would be fine, I am shocked seeing the amount of moth that died in hidden forest @-@
I think that it would most likely be remembrance, but who knows, assembly might show up eventually anyway LOL
I pray for em xDD but if lot of moths are doing it, it's gonna be easy for sure
Wait so who's gonna be the props vendor for the Aviary village?
Edit: You guys are forgetting about Gratitude Guide 😭
i'm guessing not, unless they wanted to add a final season to sky or something
Tbh remembrance focuses more on shared space (in my opinion) and is less labor intensive than Assembly
yeah, thats kinda why i think it'd be a better choice as a tutorial for new players, especially since they just may not have any props themselves yet lol
True and moth won't suffer from the 4 people task

Tho funny, new moth becomes therapist for spirits xD
TGC gonna jumpscare us with the last quest in the season being "do ALL of assembly"
the frustrating thing is that they might
As long it's not Prophecy Guide, then I'm okay with it.
Idk why but I rather do passage than assembly
Wait imagine the flying rocks in Aviary is a hint for Prophecy. .
Is assembly that big?
You need a friend to do it- at one point you need 4 people to do ONE QUEST. If you are a solo player ya might need to wait a long long while to finish it- it took me almost half a month to finish it (thanks to the 4 people quest)
Ah
That
Is a problem
Does it need to be a friend or can randos help me ?
Luckily we have #looking-for-group-live here
Randos is fine xD but ya can't really communicate well cuz the stuff ya need to find is scattered a lot- worse case scenario you need to start all over again in hidden forest rain
it can be quite a lot to do in one session, since most of the quests require someone else or even mutltiple, heh
i was waiting with a friend by the 2 person quest and by some crazy luck, another pair got server merged into us LOL
Ngl I remember finally doing with 4th quest (by asking someone to help here-) SUDDENLY EVERYONE IS THERE WANT TO JOIN ME
By everyone, I mean random players- that just leech of me while I wait their almost 2 hours before TwT
However, if it's added to the aviary quest- ya might be lucky since now many new players are doing it again (but hopefully not)
You know what
I take this as a challenge
It's assembling time
Tbh passage is much easier for me and good luck!
I'm thinking it's abyss and flight because of the Festival having the former's guide, and the connection ti the windpaths already in the game for the latter.
Abyss gonna terrified moths xD especially when they see Krill can swim (ngl that caught me off guard the first time I saw it)
But would be fun for moths that enjoy the sky lore/story
Tho it's a bit cruel xDD like Season of Flight and Season of Abyss have dark elements to them
Like in flight the place almost got corrupted and you need to burn off darkness and plant/purify it while abyss you get to see the abyss monster- I like how they show the fun part of sky then decide to "Here, have this"
Reminds me of my first time experiencing G.W. All over again-
that little darkness flower covered in the clouds at aviary makes me think somethin may happen in the future
Imagine the flight guide accidentally triggers it- and then looks at us with a "Sorry-"
Well not trigger it but like darkness came from wind path before- so @-@ and almost infect the area
to be honest, the wind paths almost seem like a contamination risk imagine the spores coming through or a whole krill making its way downtown through those tunnels
Like imagine-
Darkness has spread across Aviary, it looks like it is coming from the Wind Path! Help hopeful steward burn the darkness off
Flight Guide in the background: sweating profusely
Luckily there isn't a wind path for Treasure Reef- or else, Abyss Monster decides to have a buffet in aviary (imagine)
if that thing can fly i think we're all doomed LOL
I mean it has 4 krill bodyguards.. They can try lift it up as support-
Tho! The Elder Manta might help us again, they look so cool- but the way it starts acting like a Krill worries me a bit- (it kinda starts flying around in a circle aimlessly)
i kinda thought the megabird was a scrapped concept, but it's named in the files
you can still see a bird like shape in the stars of orbit (the final section, if you look directly up, with the friend constallation across from it), but presumably the mega bird would have played a larger role.
oh that's the last part of the flying section of orbit, not the spot I was thinking of.
Cool to see the texture without it being bloomed to hell and back.
it's called "orbitmegabird" too
i also just noticed that the eden mountain isn't visible from home, is there any reason for that?
Our mother (?)🥲❤️
i guess
Imagine how small we are compared to that thing
Starlight!
Its a bit weird how all of us get sucked into her (
) are we her source of infinite light?
does anyone have the older concept art image of the empty souls falling, and the souls full of light ascending?
just a slight bit of a worry the light is being harvested
this one?
I think that was it yeah!
i really hope in some future lore that the megabird gets more attention
where is the home island in relation to the other areas? geologically? it's interesting that eden is not visible from there while being visible from every other location
wondering the same thing!! maybe it’s a mental space of the sky kid of some sort
Are all creatures in sky outside of the ancestors and dark creatures light creatures? Like do we know of any normal creatures other than like Oreo, the Fox from season of the little prince, and the cat from spooky days of event?
Are those ones cannon?
the cat is a dark creature
There's some passive crabs that do not have the dark particle coating thing
So the crabs may not naturally be dark creatures, but rather be corruptible if exposed to it enough
All I could say is that the home island doesn't have a connection with the rest of the world.
Rather, it just acts as a lobby like every other interactive free-roaming game. Sky is that kind of game, after all.
And I've been thinking the same too. Having the realms of Isle of Dawn to Valley of Triumph with the visible mountain of the Eye of Eden, whilst other realms that we can't see said mountain from there are quite unusual.
But it's just common sense. There are two other realms aside from Home Island that we are not able to see the Eye of Eden. Golden Wasteland and Vault of Knowledge.
Golden Wasteland, because the whole place is literally under some sort of a great windstorm. Vault of Knowledge, because it's a whole flipping building.
Passage mask on Forest Temple door? Is this a reference to the initial concept of the elders being animals?
Hi there.
I dont wish to alarm you, nor cause concerns.
I would like to caution you that posting about you snooping through the games files may be received well with mods or TGC staff.
It may be best to ask moderators on here if somrhibf like this would be allowed on the server before posting them here.
Just to avoid possibly getting in trouble in the future if and when a mod would see.
The mask is an easter egg reference to an old version if the zforest elder's mask.
Back when the elders' designs were in development and their looks were more animalistic.
Characters from the office and from collaborations are debateable as canon.
I'd classify them as part of meta-lore, because these characters are related to content outside of sky (hence the meta part).
However, the lore is open to interpretation. Therefore folks are welcome to disregard their existence in Sky as canon characters.
well, I checked the rules and it seems that it's only against the rules if it's files from an unofficial source
True.
On the one hand, there is not particualr rule against folks looking at file names.
However, I can imagine a possibility the devs may not like it when people snoop in their game files and present certain names as canon evidence.
A user posting their finding would make them an unofficial source from a technical standpoint.
Some names in there may be placeholders ir dev names.
A few examples would be the sound file for the void in Eden where you hug the light kid, is called King Hug.
Then there is the megabird references.
And the whale in Sky is sometimes called King Tuna, lol.
I would hate to hear abouf users looking for lore getting in trouble with the mods because of what they got up to.
Hence the suggestion to ask.
All in all though, I would like to commend your resourcefullness for being able to view the images within the files.
Well done.
Does anyone have the collage of all symbols of the king in sky?
Yes!! Thank you
there's also this
Did the king/prince have a cape?
I'm pretty sure that's the mask of forests elder in early designs
It so fun to read theories! I read like two whole extremely long blogs yesterday telling someone’s own and common theories with confirmed lore or either supported lore
It’s all so FASCINATING
Does the Eden king/elder have any general personality notes? Or has any defining characteristic aside from being part stone and massive?
Question, here. Just out of curiosity.
Is there something alive at the orbit? Like the big white orb thingy that we all see when ascending? 'Cause I was looking at this, and the mural showing a surrounding yellow aura on the sky kid there kinda reminds me of the white orb thingy when we're in orbit.
So is there something living inside it? Or is it just a passageway to the place where we get ac wax and where the big door that leads us back into the world?
genuine question: did sky kids agree on aurora being the eden elder, or the orbit elder?
I feel like the white orb might be the prince, OR the orb could be literally alive, maybe like the mega bird?
No - I think the orbit elder is the king.
IMO the prince/king is the child we see trapped within the Eden crystal (the one we hug after we die).
That's actually so cool.
The king was originally going to be a final boss of sorts, but they removed that and replaced his body with the red crystal. So I think he got sucked inside.
How much do you guys consider the “days of” events canon?
I don’t consider them canon. Personally
Oooh yes I'll take that
As long as they have any correlation with the main plot like how all the seasons would/have, I'd say it can be canon.
Aurora was never an Elder in the first place. She's a guide in the Season of AURORA, the collaboration between Sky COTL and the artist, AURORA.
So i just went to secret vault area thanks to days of feast
I did not expect to run into a megabird drawing in the water
Yeah there's some neat lore stuff there, more in offie
Is office's stuff in itself relevant to lore ? To me it looks like it kinda exists outside of the sky world and more in its own space of sorts
Just some low resolution posters that has sky concept art slapped on. Tom Zhao did them, they're on the net
Anyone else notice grandma has five wedges when every other spirit(I seen at least) only has one?
She does
!?
(BRB)
Huh, you're right.
Interesting. Only 1 is lit though, the rest are dots.
I like to think she’s using them to keep the rain out somehow
yeah all of them got 1 lit with some empty wedges for rest, it looks funny can't be recharged
Hey your right. She does have 5 notches
It does make sence that they all have only 1 filled light though. They all tap into the energy of 1 soul ( there own), while we carry many souls within us ( other wing lights)
Keep in mind that the WL displayed on ancestor capes is mostly just a programming issue, not a hard lore fact
That is true too🤔
I still think my idea makes some amount of sence, as they would not have bothered adding the one light on them in the first place
Though it coulds just be an esthetic thing and not mean anything☺️
yeah, but it's fun to think about it from the context of within the game even if it's an extradiegetic reason. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Going off the new interview and trailer for the new sky animated series, the king is deffinetly still a thing, but its very uncurtain how much of what we know about his character and story from the concept art, (if anything) is still canon
TGS has stated in another interview (cant find the image right now) that the roles of the Elders had drasticly changed from villens to tragic antiheroes, and this goes double for the king. His story had changed and his exact role so uncurtain by the time that early beta of sky (Light Awaits) was active, that any sign and mention of him in the game was religated to 1 mural frame and one memory ( origin of the Prince)
Becouse of that, traing to figure out anything about his personality and exactly what happened and what he was thinking when that happened is kinda meaningless as far as sky canon is consern (now sky fanfic, thats a whole other mater). We simply dont know enough to make that call, and TGS are perpusfully not giving any clear answers until the show drops
All that we can say with any curtainty about the king has has far more to do with the resoults of his actions then the actual motivation and personality of the character. From all the murals depicting him, to all the statues of him in Waistland....it is these things that shape what we really know about him, and what helps us use the concept art to fill in the blenks.
I can't see how the pollution of gw, and nuking yourself and every other darkness shenanigans would make for a tragic anti-hero. Sounds interesting, I wonder what tgc will come up with for it. Civil war leading to desperate measures like making krills? Who knows
and it's even harder when your source of power is stand-in for fossil fuels, it'd be funny to look at an oil company as anti-hero
Don't spirits give us Wing Buff if we spend our AC on them? I always thought that at least 1 buff for Sky Kids to receive their wing buff blessing-
Yes, I know that some spirits don't have a cape- but they are made of light like sky kids too. From what I see-
They still can give them to Sky Kids and why the 1 wedge remains probably for programming issues
But if I can put my two cents on my brain cells here- (theory and not canon) before the spirits died in Eden, their 1 wing light disappeared, and we sacrificed our wing light for them so they were free from Eden and could be free. As for thank you they give us their wing buff for us in the future so we can help them again
Oh and the trailer shows us a spirit using magic! We get to see how Magic works in sky!
Its inportant to remember that when we first came to sky, we already had one wing light of our own, and in orbit we gain wing lights from all the spirits, plus one when we enter through the portal, which is basicly our own wing light, granded to us by The Light (megabird).
Exactly.
This is why I am hesitent to talk with too much curtainty about the king and specific detales about the world of sky that we dont have good enough evidence for in game.
We will be getting a bunch of new, clear canon knowlige in a few months, so no use jumping the gun
Mhm mhm, so much lore to come soon

I like to think of home home as a mental headspace of skykids (because as they say, home is where the heart is!), whereas aviary is an actual place a skykid can call home in the world of sky
What's your take on the home - aviary thing, especially with the wind paths entrance being released today?
thewindpathswhatwashuhnow!?
New Aviary quest! Windpath guide for our pants shop
I'm having emotions, sorry.
It's okay xD
So were spirits huge in life? Or same size as in spirit form? There's a lot of HUUUUGE objects, like the big table in Vault or Hermit's bed, but then other things are "adult spirit sized" so I'm confused
I think we are still and forever stay as kids (reason why our name is Sky Kid) while most of the spirits are adults
I wager Hermit was huge, at least.
Yeah but why are things so huge?
Like Bearhug Hermit's bed is way way bigger than him. And the big table in library too. It's massive. Like Elder-sized.
Like I'm basically wondering if the spirits are the same size now in spirit-form as they were in life, or if they were much, much bigger. Or if Elders were just much huger? Or some were spirit-size, some were giants?
elders are implied to be a different category of, well, beings than ancestors, so they seem to have been much bigger than common ancestors
but ancestors (and their children) are also much bigger than our skykids
Sorry- for taking a while- idk the spirit's name and was googling their name- Confident Stance they have a kid. If you relive their memory you can see the kid is the same height as us (they are slightly taller tho-)
And you can see them chasing each other in the aviary sometimes. Sorry if I can't answer your question tho bsgsjsnsn
And I forgot to pin-
Pleading Child is also taller than most (idk if all) skykids
I think they are average sky kid but idk- I set my height small xD
Basically my initial headcannon was explaining away why the Elders are so huge- their souls are bigger as they reflect the power they had.
But then the huge furniture happened and I'm questioning if it's actually that everyone was huge and the spirits are smaller than they were when alive.
But the buildings don't seem big enough for a biiiig person.
So maybe it's just Elders that were that huge and the big vault table was used by them?
But then why is Bearhug Hermit's bed that big?
They should add hermit here- but we can use this as an example of how tall spirits and elders are- (I borrowed this from someone here)
And base on this I think spirits and elders are fairly taller than the average sky kid (aka us)
But it still doesn't answer why Hermit needs a big bed- but big bear like big space to sleep?
Honestly glad to see the body diversity in spirits and elders
Maybe certain spirits have their own back story (that we can make a headcanon on why this spirit looks like that) don't stress about it too much xD tho it does make a fun fanfic if you are into that
certain sky things just make me think a lot. The lore is pretty vague and some makes me go

Yeah, understandable xD and idk where the picture source is from- I found it here and if someone know pls tell me
Yeah, 'cause if they made Bearhug Hermit a literal giant, that'd definitely fit more.
But why can't they insinuate the idea of Bearhug Hermit being a giant, when it literally says in the Hermit Valley Description:
"Hermit Valley - Home to a giant with a gentle heart."
Plus, if he were giant, his spirit would be giant, as well. TGC WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?
I didn't read the text most of the time in Sky xD cuz I accidentally skip by accident- I suffer from Genshin impact okay-- tho I argue that elders might be taller than hermit if TGC get the size model right
The elders are tall enough, as they are. But I don't think that making the Bearhug Hermit a giant would affect the elders.
People just compare them for fun if they would.
I mean fix bearhug hermit height but true it is a fun comparison xD
Always love a big gentle giant
Fr fr, imagine that they made hugging bearhug hermit there. I'd get in line.
Anyways, random question. Don't you think that everything --- the events in Sky; COTL --- were all meant to happen? As if it all just happened so that they can test us? As per written in the mural back at the first cave in the Isle of Dawn, it is said that we must bring back the light to the fallen.
Isn't that like sort of a test? Or at least, that's how I see things.
Events like seasons?
Or events like day of mischief, fortune, feast, fashion, etc?
Events in the main storyline.
It is canon- and meant to happen since the event/season is considered a memory of past spirits, especially from the guide
Idk about test.. Unless for Prophecy then that might be a test
Hm, that makes sense. Well, Imma be honest. The question appeared in my head 'cause we all face different challenges in the realms.
For example, we had to travel under the rain in Hidden Forest, which slowly drains our light.
I think the realms do tell the story about the world. I think that lore is scattered around the game and you just gotta keep digging
However they do provide lessons for our sky kid
It works for the game context/content too! So it's a win-win for TGC xD
Not always a win-win for me 'CAUSE THE IAPS!?

Yeahh- im from Malaysia and the inflation is bad-

I liked someone's interpretation of the realms as timelines.
We know from concept arts Isle of Dawn represents = Dawn, Prairie = Day, Forest = Rain, Valley = Sunset, Golden Wasteland = Dusk, Vault = Night and Eden = Storm, like a cycle of day and weather. Someone on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/SkyGame/comments/18anv1l/the_themes_of_the_sky_realms_and_why_an_8th_realm/) added this:
*"For the cycle of life:
Isle is infancy, Prairie is childhood, Forest is teenage, Valley is young adult, Wasteland is midlife, Vault is old age, and Eden is death
For the progression of civilization:
Isle is nomadic hunter-gatherers, Prairie is classical civilization, Forest has larger medieval structures, Valley is the Renaissance of arts and culture, Wasteland is the Industrial Revolution, Vault is futuristic, and Eden is the inevitable destruction"*
Relatable. The Philippines is selling rice at mostly ₱55
But still, the whole world of sky with the seasons and days are stitching things together.
Yes! Like @hushed steeple's message here.
Ooh, yes!
I just love that interpretation so much, made me appreciate the cyclical gameplay of Sky on a whole new level.
Me too. It's truly something that we all can relate to.
I think the spirits are about the same size that they were when they were alive.
The Voult table is heavely theorized to have been used by the Elders.
Its posible that a lot of things that we see in sky ( particularly in pablic places), were made so big and hight in order to acomodate the Elders beings there. Thats one possible reason why you have such huge and tall dores on many temples.
Also remember that we sky kids are preary small, like baby to small child sized, so even a lot of relatively normal sized things like Bearhug bead can seam bigger then they actually are from some point of view
more size stuff, tho I'm not sure if it's official
maybe bearhug hermit has a huge bed cause he has um... sleepover parties with an elder?
Tbh I can see one of the twin elder do that xD just to chill and relaxed from the other
It would be cute if it's the Kakashi haircut
Or Bear Hermit used to be a warrior in wasteland but is retired now and decided to go to Valley due to the GW getting corrupted and such
Either way it's a fun thing that we can decide in our heads

If they ever have a TS hint "This spirit has sleepovers with an Elder", we'll know
I would love the hint but I am afraid that people might get the wrong idea 😭
Nevermind I misread sleepover as sleep over

but one of em for sure
