I like your username btw
I’m just baffled as to how such a grassy place became an entire desert. It must have taken at least half a century
grass deserts exit tho, even mope shows roses grew once too in isle so the plants couldve died off naturally
To clarify, I don’t mean a normal desert, I’m talking about what GW is now
pollution killed the plants
the ground underneath was probably mostly sand
Tbf it could’ve gotten much worse after the explosion too, when clouds covered the sun
oo i blame it on the explosion, for it being somwhat close to it plus just years an years and years after the fact
I guess Sky geography is too hard to figure out, with some realms being in pristine shape and others being completely ruined
That would certainly be a sight to behold
sand and maybe some ash thanks to the explosion i'd say
normal desert vs evil shadow skull desert
pollution, fire, explosions, then the explosion…it’s a lot for one place to go through
And there’s the Isle question. Usually, desertification happens because of too much activity, not too little
another idea i have about gw desertification is that they maybe got desperate and took a scorched earth approach to cleansing the darkness when it got to be too much. and then it’s like, well now a lot of the darkness is gone, but now nothing can grow back
this is based on nothing except a) the fact that pre-gw was associated with fire and b) i just think it’s neat
Ooh I love that
tsadi is burning /ref
TSADI IS BURNING
due to budget issues i will not be explaining myself
sorry about that

i only started reading into sky lore last night and i was wondering, is alef the same as resh? and is alef also the random kid in the void that we hug after eden?
What happened was the vessel we play as tried to escape the abyss so they can be chosen by the pale king as the pure vessel but was beat out by the hollow knight and was left to die in the abyss with the other failed vessels
To start.
The old names were based in Hebrew and were placeholders. Therefore the devs have stated that they are not canon.
We may still use these names if we so wish, as long as we know the context.
Next, Alef was referenced in old concept art as the Prince.
To avoid confusion with the Little Prince, I usually say Sky Prince.
While Resh is/was the King.
Together (or at least the King), they would have been the elder(s) of Eden.
We know this because they were the only elders missing in the live game when looking at the concept art, as well as Eden is the only realm without an Elder.
Hope this helps.
ooh yeah, thank you! that makes more sense, is there a list of canon names anywhere?
The only canon names are those ingame, each of the spirits as named when you see them from home, each guide when you visit them in their area, though these names do change based on function, as the Season of Gratitude guide had a different name during Days of Fortune and Days of Love, and I seem to recall Season of Belonging Guide had a different name during Days of Feast, though back during those seasons, non of the spirits had written names ingame at all.
All of the Elders are Elder of their realm so are generally called by that canonically
In Dawn, one of the non-season spirits used to be called Pointing Pilgrim.
Although in later updates, the memory changed a bit and with that, the name changed to Pointing Candlemaker.
pilgrim removed for religious conotations huh, it probably does make a lot more sense if they could religionafy it more, espeicially the praying at the light the pigfgyback spirit does, but what can you do
Possibly, or draw more attention to the candle.
i mean candle maker and pilgrim are not exclusive, but you can pick one
anyone else find it odd that what we know as a light catcher instrument is used as a fireworks launcher
i assume the spirit who has it probably used it to send flares [assuming they were part for GW's army/war]
i think it's actual use might have been different from how a kid imagined it used, like it's a fireworks staff as we think it is, but in actuality it could be whatever it is, we see in daylight a light catcher perhaps catch a bird or attempt too, we don't with our what we think the staff is for
ahhh alright yea that makes sense
also another note, lookout has a horn instument, we don't use it to warn people, we literally french trombone it lol
Also, the table that we get from spirits are too small for the Ancestors
Oh that's true
I suppose it makes sense that our light replication of it resizes it to fit us
I mean, what is there to warn about /hj
Maybe we know how to make it loud but putting that in game would make some humans very angry
Krill
Hi lorechat. Is there anyone that has lore theories about season of passage and it’s place jn Sky? Like the timeline, is this spirit grew up to be a different spirits or even elders etc
All I can really say right now is that it's likely a complement/rival to the Prophecy Trials.
While the Prophecy Trials aim to find a single chosen one, the Passage Rituals aim to teach the value of cooperation.
The masks are mysterious things. Are they just controlled by the Passage Guide, or is it a bit more complicated than that?
Also, is that darkness in the 2nd quest all natural, or did the mask enhance it somehow?
There are red eyes staring at us in the 2nd quest, which is speculated to be these crabs from the Sky animation trailer. (see image) However, we only see clusters of 2 eyes at a time, while these crabs have a lot of 'em.
I think the masks are just magical creations of the guide for these passage trials
but i wonder if the masks represent some part of their faith
not deities on their own exactly, but maybe different aspects of the Light
Does anyone have an idea why we can't save the statues in eden in the first and second area?
Hm, good point!
We'll have to wait for another week though
For the next piece of the puzzle~
Woah I didn’t realise that the animation trailer already hinted bout these creatures in dark. I would slant to season of passage compliments prophecy oh oh wait what if searching for the one came from these adolescents??? After they complete their passages, they have to go to trials as the ultimate final tests for their skills
Ooooh
Hmm, like I said, we'll have to wait~~
I love it lol
Now this makes me more intrigued : why animals-like mask? The 1st test is to start lessons of passage, and it’s mask is Bear. 2nd is Passage of Reliance, it’s mask is Serow. Why the guide choses bear as the starter lesson and serow for reliance lesson? At first i was thinking probably to indicate the seriousness of the tasks but surely bear is stronger than serow so probably not that. Soooooo many questions racing!

I've never heard of the serow before! someone said that the mask reminds them of the borzoi!
Here's some bear symbolism! Have fun!
https://worldbirds.com/bear-symbolism/
Several different cultures in there!
Ohhh choosing bear as the mask for 1st test is probably to symbolise giving courage to these adolescents spirits to start their lessons of passage + ability to carry around those heavy light pots
I just read bout Japanese serow and it’s supposedly symbolises spirit of the forest! Wandering around in forest. As why passage of reliance, i was thinking the guide wants adolescent spirits to start relying towards each other OR TO THE MASK ITSELF to guide them while cleaning the forest (to teach them about teamwork is the second foundation in civilisation
Maybe it's more of towards each other
But a little to the mask as well
It does ward off the darkness too
Who are King and Prince? I was surfing wiki for some elders information and suddenly discovered "King's Family" existence.
It looks like the point of the rite of passage is for the initiates to earn their mask and become like, not just a kid anymore. We know that animal masks symbolized the roles someone had in life, and masks in general represent some aspect of your identity. In this case the mask is connected with the lesson of the passage, for example the sheep/goat for reliance represents staying with the herd and depending on each other. When you return to the season area, you see that the spirit who earned that one is overactive overachiever, you know, the one who is ahead in everything, takes over group projects and sees everything as a competition. So i think the masks going forward will represent the lessons that each spirit needs to learn in order to pass into maturity
also fwiw i think passage takes place after prophecy because after they find the chosen one they wouldn't have a need for the trials? so the rites of passage might have evolved from the idea of the trials
ngl, this lyric gives BIGG skykid vibes, just my opinion considering that in eden, after that one krill part you reach point of no return and your literally trapped there in pnr
The King/Prince is a character that is in the game in some form, but the developers have said that their presence is a lot different than what we may expect. Most of what we know of it comes from concept art and symbolism in the Sky world, like in the final Shattering memory or in the Vault Elder cutscene.
That's certainly a hypothesis to explore. So we could guess the other Passages are
Melancholy Mope - Passage of Optimism
Tumbling Troublemaker - Passage of Awareness/Caution
Oddball Outcast - Passage of Focus
something like that maybe idk
i just have a lot of feelings about overactive so that whole message definitely hit for me
being ahead and trying to do everything yourself isn't always a good thing?? and can leave you isolated in a dark place??? .......word?
Yea 100% agree on the mask and lesson teaching what the students lack, like in their memory you can see that the kids grow annoyed with them, and they’re prone to believing their first impressions, so they probably learned to just do things themself so that they dont annoy others (they even take the lead on group projects) 😔
Passage of Realizing You Aren't Special Even Though You Already Read At a 12th Grade Level
have I posted these here
I find the bridge and the dark plant holograms interesting
Yeah me too! With the eyes in the background resembling that of the animation project, i interpreted that its how things mightve looked in the past since its what the the mask remembers(?), and so even if things have changed the passage is similar to how it might’ve been before?
Passage of reliance is local pick up litter day
it was actually really hard to pick stuff up 😭 the mask kept moving too fast and stuff
the amount of times i got frustrated that i couldnt pick up every single one and then went "wait....that's the point"
I think the Passage peeps are 15-17 so... yeah it wouldn't
whatever they are the narrator loves calling them unruly
Pffff i was more so joking about my own experiences as a kid but yeah if true
I have a feeling that the names are the "puns" they use rarely but effectively (because who would believe those are their real names)
They're there to make them collectively suffer (because that's the secret weapon to long lasting bonds!) and to remind them what they're here for
In other words, Passage Guide is a trickster mentor
They come across to me as under 15, like middle school age
Maybe
Though I'm also leaning towards them being 17 because they're taking the Passages to progress from the kid stage and actually be a member of society
Unless Sky's age of adulthood is something else
Undergoing rite of passages don’t have to indicate adulthood
Agreed, they feel more like 13 - 16 tops to me
rites of passage could also be the transition from childhood to adolescence
they're not quite adults yet, but they need to learn a bit more responsibility and independence and cooperation now
thats what i thought too, around middle school age but its up to interpretation
yes!
around the age you read warrior cats for the first time
but what does it all mean?
I can absolutely see the kids roleplaying as a bunch of animals
Oh my goodness lol
prophecy
or, they sort of already are
turns out, becoming a spiritual leader of your people just means you're allowed to roleplay your fav animal as an adult
“favorite book is the biggest one they can show others”
the book:
had to find a pic with someone’s hand holding it for scale, obv
Passage Guide: By completing your special rituals, you shall enter a new and fulfilling stage of life!
Adolescents: Boring.
Passage Guide: You also gain the privilege of expressing the animal in you with a mask!
Adolescents: Oooh wait you might be onto something-
where do spells come from?
concept forest elder having a lynx mask:
Probably Forgotten Ark, or the same ways we get the cosmetics
If cosmetics are just light, then temporary versions of those cosmetics should also be light
The light recharge potion is just portable light
The resize potions seem to work similarly to the chibi mask
Yea it’s likely they’re made from light! The ark murals seem to convey that imo
Everything is light
What do you guys think that weird diamond shard thing that was the “guide” for shattering and also why it shows up in so many of the shard memories
Cuz obviously it has a lot to do with why Eden is the way it is now, Cuz we see in aurora’s second song we see what isle of dawn used to look like and most importantly, what Eden used to look like
We found this carving above the doorway in Eden with the forest and valley portals carved similar to the symbol of birds, does anyone have an idea of what this means?
i know next to nothing about this lore can someone please explain it to me from beginning to end or wherever we are now in the best way possible
It resembles the old home portals from Light Awaits
If we interact with the guide, we see it’s called the “Void of Shattering”. Another thing to note is that it used to be red, like Eden, but it turned blue, like a spirit.
Because of this, I think the Void of Shattering used to be an inanimate piece of technology that had a spirit fall in and become sentient.
I have a more detailed theory on this if you want
Time wise, we seem to be near the “end”. Most of Sky’s lore happens far before our time.
If you want a generalized version of the lore, this document can help: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
But if you want something specific, like Sky’s history, you can just ask here
I think they're their own thing
They might just be bits of the Eden diamond, infused with the light and memory of countless light creatures that travelled to/got trapped in Eden
like, when a red shard lands and we cleanse the darkness, we then help free/collect bits of light/memory that are shaped like light creatures, be it crabs or mantas
and in the memories inside the shards, we see glimpses from the world as a whole - from the migration of light creatures, to the arriving darkness in the form of floating darkness seeds, to krill on the hunt, to the Eden diamond fracturing
so my working theory is that both the shards that land in the world, as well as the shard 'spirits' inside the memory are pieces of the Eden diamond that has grown semi-sentient through the light that infused it/got trapped in it
Then there’s the Elder memory, which has a pointy thing fall into the Eden Diamond. Depending on how you interpret it, the Void of Shattering could contain it.
yeah, I think if anything is 'wholesale' trapped in the Eden diamond, it might be that thing, most likely symbolizing the King/Chosen One
tho whether it was an accident - of the diamond just absording and trapping more light - or maybe a deliberate attempt at destroying the Eden diamond is unclear
but I don't think the shard memories are from the point of view of that figure
they're from the view of the world, of the shards, of the animals
explain oreo in sky
it is a easter egg of the CEO's dog.
that's about it.
explain in the context of sky LORE
The 8 player temple is dedicated to the one true good boi Oreo, he done dieded when everyone else did and can be summoned by sky kids who want to pet him but only if there is 7 of them who really want to see him, he is a busy boi in orbit, all the ancestors want to pet him too
PERFECTION
I don't consider Oreos presence to be canon
me too, it's called just inventing stuff
The same design is actually on Isle Temple door that you need to light.
its okay, you'll be canon one day
Anything can be canon if you put your mind to it
Oreo is obviously meant to be an easter egg
I don't think there's much about Oreo that would make it unsuitable to canon (unlike the entirety of the office, which is obviously a space that doesn't belong to the world of Sky), but accepting Oreo as canon would make some decisions about the world of sky
namely that
- dogs exist/existed
- they got revered after their death like other ancestors, see the grave marker, and
- that these dogs might have a physiology and life cycle that's perhaps more akin to ancestors than flying/swimming light creatures like the mantas
all of these assumptions are not too unreasonable... Season of Passage implies that there's at least knowledge of other land-based mammals that live or lived in the world
Does anyone saved the full world map shrine? I wanna rot how sky lore works with it :0
Thank you!

I had a little headcanon for what I think those paddles that the valley elders wield are used for:
What if it’s like, an extreme game of “keep it up” where two players have to use the ends of their paddles to keep a ball of light (like the ones you collect in the race) from hitting the ground. It plays like an intricate dance and the one who drops the light has another point added to their score (the player with the least points wins, like in golf)
I like that! Would be cool to imagine some sports in sky would have a sort of dance element too in its own way
Honestly I could see it, I'd even add that perhaps some dances could symbolize cycles that were held as sacred !
OO YAYA! We already have a good handful of spinning/dancing emotes, would be super cool to think what other dances sky has for different occasions
One day i hope we see more about the shattered kingdom above eden
And/or what Eden used to be
So @keen shore mentionned that since Passage masks seem to be linked to "lessons", then perhaps it could be the same for Prophecy ones
Imo it makes sense ! both sets are using rougher, less refined materials (like stone or wood) too, so I think the link could have been put here on purpose !
That and the prophecy ones could also teach you lessons since they represent values the ancestors could have considered important; in order they are Patience (water turtle), Perseverance (earth spider), Balance (air bat) and Courage (fire lion).
The animal associations also make sense for the Passage masks; bears were seen as the ruler of forests before christianity depicted them as slow and stupid to mock pagan beliefs, and the ursa minor/major constellations are often used to find the north without a compass; it would make sense for a mask depicting one to be worn by a guide.
As for the second quest one, it seems to be a kind of herd animal (actually a serow, who indeed lives in forests but is more solitary), which makes sense for a quest where you're supposed to stay close to your peers to survive.
Hmm yes, go on
I honestly can’t wait to see what the other passage masks are. Because if we’re following the trend with overachiver now wearing the serow mask, then I assume the others will follow with their own respective masks
can anyone explain why mantas are transparent in vault?
The Void of Shattering theory
This whole thing rests on the premise that the Eden Elder fell into the Eden diamond. I can see it quite clear in the sixth memory: the star symbol, which represents the Eden Elder seemingly descending into it.
I believe that the Eden diamond didn't have any real personality or sentience beforehand, it was just a tool. But when the Eden Elder fell into it, it fused into something weird: the Shattering Guide.
The Shattering Guide is the personified form of the Eden Diamond. The evidence here is that they both have a similar shape: a cracked diamond with another tiny diamond in the middle.
The Dark Home where we buy this season's cosmetics, and I think it's inside the Void of Shattering. After all, the void effect is similar to the time we got swallowed by the leviathan. In general, I think if we're in an overwhelming force of darkness, we go to the void area.
TLDR: The Eden Elder’s body fell into the Void of Shattering, and so it turned into a fusion of the Eden Diamond and the King
Very fascinating but I think, lore wise, the guide doesn’t actually have a purpose in the lore outside of being a way for sky kids to travel in and out of memories
Since they appear after a red shard is completed
What I was kinda thinking is this, theres 8 realms, but 7 elders, so who’s the 8th elder?? I like to think it’s Eden themselves and that maybe they created the elders and maybe sacrificed themself to make the diamond thing that the elders used to create the kingdom
I know it’s a bit of a stretch but then again, I still have no idea what role aurora might have since apparently she’s a cannon character now
I don't think she's actually listed as canon due to being a collaboration, is she?
I doubt their contract included being used for lore..
my opinion is that those are memory mantas since the whisperer associated with them is memory whisperer
She is canon in that she exists in Sky as she is
she is a singer, a voice, a storyteller
but it is unlikely that she is meant to be much more than that
Yeah, that's the only 'canon' aspect, but outside of that, she most likely won't be given an actual role by TGC and will simply be left up as interpretation
yeah, I don't think that her 'story' will be added to beyond what we have seen in Season of Aurora
YEAH!! I love thinking about animal mask symbolism so much; admittedly, the reason I originally brought it up was because thinking about the prophets going through Passages made me soft, but I think it can still apply to anyone undergoing their trials, considering how those animals are very present in the trials themselves (with their masks on display over the gates and on top of each checkpoint candle). I wonder if, upon successful completion of a trial, a student would get the mask associated with it. It would be very neat for maskmakers and teachers to be overlapping jobs in Isle (and perhaps the kingdom as a whole!)
Interestingly, prophecy guide’s mask doesn’t seem to be associated with a specific ‘lesson’, but instead might be based off jackals’ association with Anubis judging souls much like the trials test our character.
Which is Interesting because there’s a drawing of what looks to be aurora in the music shop
There is? Could you send a picture? I don't hang out in music shop often..
Here you go! It was added to Harmony Hall at the end of Performance (with Aurora being added in a bit later, I believe during late Shattering) in order to tease season of Aurora.
It even has the similar swirls around the area too
Perhaps there might be somewhere in the contract that was made to put Aurora in certain bits of the lore then? Or simply to add a teaser, either way, interesting!
Ohhh!! The colosseum, I’m sorry, I thought you meant the one in Harmony Hall
Well the depiction of her is in harmony hall
I think they were sending it as reference to the swirls in both drawings!
Also keep in mind, this drawing came before season of aurora
I honestly think the Harmony Hall one was added to be a teaser, since it was shown again in the official season trailer, and the actual ‘teaser’ part of Aurora being shown only came a short time before her season was announced. The other murals in the colosseum were added during AURORA as part of the quests and (to my memory) never depict her directly but use lots of northern lights symbols, which are what the swirls are, along with repeating motifs of light creatures and ancestors
Yeah that’s fair, I still think tho that mural would be gone by now if it was just a “teaser”
That’s fair too! Seasons aren’t often teased in the game itself before they come like that, so it’s hard to set a precedent for what a ‘normal’ teaser would look like. That means that with judging this one, we’d have to use our gut instinct or personal interpretation, which can definitely vary
Tru
Another reason why I think Aurora is cannon is that she didn’t receive the same treatment that prince got, her licensed music is still in the game, so is her voice and everything
Even her name
It wasn't all just contract text, mind you
Aurora was very much involved with the devs in brainstorming everything in Season of Aurora, including what stories could be shown during/told through her songs
e.g. in an interview it is said how she suggested a boy trying to find his way home for Runaway
BUT I'm sure the devs aren't allowed to just take the likelyhood of Aurora and do with it what they want now
anything that relates back to Aurora would have to be approved by her before being put in the game
Yeah that’s completely fair, I would assume that had asked her if she would like to be apart of the lore before the season started
Either way, this is the first time a seasonal guide has both a physical manifestation and a spiritual one
The Void of Shattering is a representation of the Eden Diamond, which is the giant trembling diamond you see in the last area of Eden before you die. That diamond is made of darkstone, which I don’t think I have to explain much beyond its very basic mechanism of absorbing light to convert into power. When it absorbs that light, it also makes a sort of… recording? imprint? of it. This is hard to explain, but it’s how memory lanterns work.
In its corrupted form, like the Diamond is, darkstone pulls in all the light around it constantly instead of passively waiting to be lit or charged on its own. In Sky, light is connected on numerous occasions to memories and even entire beings; spirit memories are constructed of light, mantas seem to be entirely made of it, having light is the difference between a living skykid and an empty shell… and so on.
All of this means that if anything living got close enough to the diamond while it was actively corrupted, their light would be sucked in, ‘recorded’, possibly as the petrified stone snapshots we find, and then either absorbed or spat out into the Eden beam. This is likely what happened during the ‘moment of shattering’ where the diamond exploded (as shown in the last memory) and is the reason why all the shattering memories are recorded like that.
The Void comes in because it seems to be a physical representation of all those memories. Whether it actually exists as a separate entity in-universe or it just exists as a guide hinting at what happened during the explosion is unclear, but it faded over the season’s span as more and more of the Diamond’s memories got released into Shards and resembles a spirit, because it is one — just a massive conglomerate of a multitude of beings’ last memories, instead of the ghost of a singular person. I like to imagine that if you get close enough, you can hear screaming.
Wow this is definitely an amazing take
I would love to know how or why the dimond exploded, and where one as big as that one could’ve come from
Thank you! Unfortunately, we don’t know either answer for sure yet, although I can give you some speculation.
Why the diamond exploded:
- Got overloaded with light (as it was placed above the beam), light exploded outwards, then it became a vacuum
- Corrupted darkstone of that size and mass is naturally unstable
- Internal flaws that somehow weren’t detected before it was set up
Overall, I’ve seen some really good metaphors to a star dying and becoming a black hole, especially with the first two ideas. It would certainly explain the massive explosion.
Where it came from:
Darkstone is typically mined out of the ground; it would be extremely hard to find a chunk large enough to be refined into the Eden Diamond, so it’s more likely that it’s assembled from other smaller chunks mined from other places throughout the world, refined independently, brought to the Diamond’s current location, and then puzzled together. The cracks we can see along it might be due to this, although they could just be damage from the explosion itself.
Ahh that is very interesting, I haven’t considered the idea that it might have been created by the elders or the other spirits
Yeah, the diamond seems to be artificial! The elders were very likely involved in its creation and probably ancestors too, although we don’t have much information as to its actual creation sadly — just the aftermath.
So wait, who were the ancestors
Oh wait sorry I thought the spirits and ancestors were different nvm
Anyway, random question, why does the rain in forest hurt the player but diving or swimming in water doesn’t? At first I thought it was because it rains polluted water from wasteland but, there are plenty of puddles and ponds in forest and those aren’t polluted
somebody post the meme
simple answer: gameplay, probably
real answer: we just don't know
lore answer: it might be that the 'fresh water' that runs through the forest naturally dilutes the darkness in the rain enough for it to not hurt, or the darkness sinks deeper into the soil, or whatever other reason you can think of
Ooh I like that
No matter what yall say Sneezing Geographer and Provoking Performer ship will forever be canon in my heart
well we haven't said much of anything so you should be fine
I think the momentum of the moving water, aka rain, hurts the flame in skids particularly more than non moving water, like puddles and the sea. Standing in puddles still gives air for the flame to burn, skykids swimming are still exposed to air to feed the flame/light as well. Meanwhile diving deprive the flame of air, which can be translated as skids losing light. This theory still leaves the mystery of why clouds charge us though.
I mean i just think it’s game mechanics but clouds can reflect light to a degree
counter argument: the waterfall in sanctuary doesn't hurt skykids
I just like to think its somthing somthing pollution in the air because days of blooms rain, which is in wasteland also hurts us the same as forests rain. Both realms having ties to darkstone production and poor environments: wasteland is obvious, for forest is more subtle is there in the form of extreme erosion which could explain the rockfalls
Also darkstone activates upon having light so maybe it takes and stuff, which might be what the rain is doing, not sure though
counter argument: snow doesn't power skykids. If light reflecting is the mechanism, snow would power us at a higher efficiency since (fresh) snow has higher albedo than clouds.
Fair enough, sky’s biology is weird too: flying creatures that don’t tend to fly, bells being able to summon said creatures, ect. Clouds could just be part of that section of something that has light and other worldly properties for some reason
Ofc, we can't really apply irl logic into sky lol
I'm still amazed by the fact that skykids can skate on ICE while BAREFOOT and not feel anything XD
What 8 realms? Isle-Eden is seven.
Not exactly true, in the season of shattering the guide provided ultimate gifts, gave quests, and had their own dark home
Depends on how you view canonicity and Aurora. Their power could be large if you choose to interpret it that way
I think collaborations can be canon, but it is a debated topic in and out of Sky
gameplay is not an excuse to ignore lore akshually 🤓
I think it's because the speed of the rain coming down at you can harm you, while swimming in water is uncomfortable, since you do lose light after a while, but it's still more bearable
Skykids seem unaffected by most physical damage (besides rocks): they can collide at objects at high speeds and survive immeasurable heights
Ah I meant like lore wise not gameplay wise
I Like that a lot actually ! Though we’d be loosing a wing every time we dive In the water super fast lol
Lore wise there’s a lot, especially given the fact that it looks exactly like the Eden Diamond
Fair enough
I think Skykids just can’t take fall damage, similar to squirrels.
An analogy I use is that water to Skykids is like pebbles for us.
Stepping on a pebble won’t hurt us. But hundreds of pebbles falling from the sky could cause a lot of damage
Ohhh that actually makes sense
(again, waterfalls don't hurt us though
)
True, and neither does snow or ice
Peabot asked a decent question
Elaborate lmao
I'm out of the loop here
who else thinks weather patterns in sky sound like a good idea?
we have above-ground bones
so there are probably also below-ground bones
(not to mention stuff like ancient plant imprints on deeper rock layers that might have been left millenia ago)
would be better than the weird grayscale that Home sometimes get
i was thinking that the weather would change every now and again from like: rain, snow, strong winds, hail etc
i also think it would be cool to use boats to travel from kingdom to kingdom rather than the use of portals. would also be cool if we had boats with sails allowing us to use the wind to guide us to our destination
boats would be more aesthetic for sure, but just looking at how much of a process it is to go from Wasteland to the Abyss or the Ark... that would get tedious really quick
true
but on the topic of boats and weather it would be cool to see storms happening in sky causing waters to rise and more violent waves to form
that would probably add too much unreliable timing across the day (or too much repeat of the same patterns for people that can only play at certain times)
and just add a feature that makes playing harder
I think its a cool concept art/story wise! Just would blow up someones phone in game
sometimes you have to accept that a game can't be realistic in every aspect for the sake of gameplay
all this is true, i just thought it would be a cool idea tho lol
“CAPTAIN LOOK”
“OH NOOOI”- gets crushed by a massive wave
Yeah cool idea but sky already CONSUMES my battery no matter what i'm doing
OKOK IM GONNA BE HERE JUST FOR THIS BC IM ON A BRAINROT IK MANY OF U PROBABLY DISCOVERED THIS ALREADY BUT LIKE
LIGHT IS THE CONCEPT OF BEGINNING/EVERYTHING
WHILE DARK IS THE CONCEPT OF ENDING/NOTHING
I ONLY REALIZED THIS
AND IT MAKE SENSE AFTER U DIE IN EDEN
LIKE AFTER U REBIRTH U BASICALLY START FROM THE BEGINNING ??? IM SORRY IF THAT DOESNT MAKE SENSE
A small request.. Could you please not type in all caps? That makes reading a little difficult 🙏
Sorry!!!! I tend to type in all caps and I'll try!!! Thank uuu !!!!!
Season of digging

does anyone have any ideas on how dark plants work? from what we've seen they seem to emit light to attract light creatures, then when it lands on them they consume them and use remaining energy from that to emit light and continue the cycle. but i always wondered HOW exactly they eat light creatures because they seem to just suck them inside of them, and they don't kill them instantly bc when we burn dark plants butterflies come out, so i think they may have some sort of poison that kills creatures slowly instead. i was also thinking they could be like venus fly traps in that they snap shut when a prey lands on them but that doesn't explain the big dark plants bc they're structured differently
i know that the blue circle part thing is important but idk how exactly it could work
i think the blue circle parts at the ends are just like buds
The Season of Shattering poems had this poem connected to the floating darkness seed memory:
Entranced by strange brillianceAnd swept into its snare
A familiar glow that hid
Nothingness in its wake
https://twitter.com/thatskygame/status/1549499361276706816
which implies that the glow is indeed a trap to lure in and catch light creatures (which generally seem to be attracted to other light sources/light creatures, much like our own skykids).. kinda like anglerfish
they're also definitely modelled after venus flytraps to some degree
but considering they're called Darkness plants, they probably act much like the dark stone found everywhere, or the darkness polluted waters, in that they slowly absorb/drain light
I can imagine a light creature trapped in a plant like this is slowly siphoned of their light, which the plant then might use to grow even bigger
yeah i was also thinking they drain light from creatures causing a slow death, i was just wondering how they manage to get said creatures inside of them like do they just suck them in???? and also how big dark plants do that bc they don't look like they'll snap shut like smaller ones
Maybe dark plants form around them
hard to say how that works exactly in a mechanical sense
we don't see the plants animated to snap shut, and it's hard to say if that's just a design decision made to save resources, or if these plants are just not meant to snap shut exactly like venus flytraps
we do see cases of light creatures trapped in the plants, like in forest or in the wind paths quest 5
and it looks like the plants just start to grow around the light creatures
it might be that the dark matter these plants consist of just naturally keeps light creatures trapped like a glue trap (or a sundew plant, a different type of carnivorous plant), just by how darkness absorbs light... it might be that the pull the darkness has on such light creatures is too strong for them to free themselves and fly away
Hmmm
What if in the next quest, the plants can trap us
Snap!
"HELP ME!!! SOMEONE BURN THIS PLAAAAAAAANT"
well, that's kind of what Eden is like, minus the plants
tho I don't think the devs would want to limit player agency like that in any quest where you might be at risk of doing the quest yourself sometime down the line
Happy Tsadi Tuesday
Happy Tuesday
I love how we looked at an Elder and went ‘you are our skrunkle. The skrunkly scrimbo.’ And gave them an entire day of the week and made a plethora of memes about it.
Not just one of them tbh
We can see that masks hold a very important significance in Sky. Same with Elder masks with Isle Elder's mask being a boat, Prairie Elder's mask a pot (Valley twins don't have masks bc it is said by a TGC staff that they are athletes so they need to be comfortable).
My question is what do Wasteland and Vault Elders's masks represent?
By the twins not having masks I think they meant they don’t have the headpieces like the others have, not that they don’t have masks at all
I know others here have imagined wastelands look very similar the head shape of a whale. And vaults headpiece could be connected with the whole vault of knowledge thing, it looks like writing far away to me
I find vault elder having a similar headress to the scholars in their realm interesting, especially coupled with the fact that their entire realm is their temple
Teacher and students

You're right, the valley twins seem to have masks as well.
A whale! I have never thought of that. And of course, Vault Elder's masks have writings on it, but with each elder mask representing one specific thing, what does that one represent?
Same for the other elders except the twins because atleast one spirit has a headpiece similar to theirs
Knowledge I’m guessing
Wasteland's mask also looks similar to that worn by other soldiers (or vice versa)
That’s why their headpiece is so big it’s full of secrets /ref
YAYA THAT TO JUST!!! The fact they have masks the same as their elder, and that wasteland elder fights along side them makes me
Like it’s not that trope where a ruler lets their soldiers do the fighting, as they themselves are offeild to stay safe they are there with them
What does the Vault mask represent i wanna knoww

There’s no definitive anwser, same with the rest of the masks
I just assume it’s knowledge but if you think it’s somthing else then feel free to theorize what it would be
I believe Salem's posted before how all of those masks are related to each other? I don't recall exactly
i think it’s like the shape of the tower itself but stylized, they have like the diamond in the middle and the multiple layers of symbols look a bit like the multiple floors with shelves full of stuff
I think it was my military rank I think? More it looks like dusks mask the higher rank it is, not to like general level but like scout to warrior
that’s interesting bc i don’t think a scout and a foot soldier are necessarily different ranks, they just have different roles! like a warrior who is in the thick of the fighting would need a more armored mask while a scout would more just need to see clearly. i do think there are different ranks tho, we have multiple spirits with literal titles (commodore, captain etc.) so yeah
Been thinking about this lately bc Reasons 👀 heheh
Fair enough, I just mention because they both have differnt masks styles. Though then again we don’t know if sky military would be the same as ours irl
I think wasteland's masks look a lot like the whales' exoskeletons
The horns and such on their heads
Oh i didnt see your message tac, sorry 😭
Its okay
I’m happy others think of the whale skull too because they’re very similar
OUGH dusk giving a whale head scratches
Here you go! The increasing by rank is speculation but I think it holds up personally
Missing Rain’s diamond mask
I like to think
Golden Wasteland Elder's mask represent strong and bravery as shown through the Golden Wasteland like how you have to get through krills a dragon that was created by darkness itself and being strong and bravery is something you sould have when entering the Golden Wasteland! And as for the Vault of Knowledge Elder I would say Knowledge and Wiseness ? I mean I'm assuming by how he acted when we got to his temple yet the Isle Of Dawn Elder seems to represent wiseness too! But I could be wrong... ? I'm just assuming from what I've seen and observed I'm sorry if I'm wrong!!
I am quite sorry if my grammar isn't correct
Also because if you look closely to the Vault of Knowledge mask there seems to be a lot of symbol in his headress while the Wasteland Elder seems to represent warrior mask? I AM SORRY IF I WORDED THIS WRONG
I keep getting beaned but I find it sweet dusks mask is the same as wounded warriors
Like they’re not a of a higher rank but instead an equal rank like their soldiers
Is Golden Wasteland was really golden before??? Like in Jorney or something like that
I can imagine pre war wasteland would have yellow grass fields hence the golden name, but that’s only speculating
Yeah i kind of got the idea of what each realm represents, but what i'm asking is the specific object that the elder masks represent haha (Isle/boat, Prairie/pot, etc)
A part of Golden Wasteland might’ve once been golden valley, a subset of Valley of Triumph that in concepts is described as the former downtown area of the city. You see that upon entering it from the Valley Elders’ temple, before the clouded area turns green at the social space, it’s golden at first.
Another thought is that Golden Wasteland, before it became a wasteland, used to be a prairie with yellow grasses or agricultural place and grew a lot of grains like rye and wheat, which would give it is its golden title
oh!! interesting..
That too! I have the tweet saved somwhere during the days of sky. The offical Twitter acccount refers to golden wasteland as golden valley being the downtown of sky
Yaya that! Ty al
And on the Instagram
OH I HAVENT SEEN THE SECOND PART OF THAT! So the realms would’ve been one in the same then
Dusk being the middle child having to share everything once again
OH THEN For Vault of Knowledge those types of stone like uh square stone that has smth??? I MEAN THERE'S WORD WRITTEN TO IT SUCH AS HOW HISTORY FROM THE PAST HAPPEN ETC I REMEMBER LONG AGO THERE WERE SOME STONE THAT WAS KEPT AND BASICALLY HAS KNOWLEDGE OF THE PAST IF IT MAKE SENSE??? Sorry I mistook ur question 😭 I CANT REALLY DESCRIBE THE STONE BUT THOSE STONES ARE ABIT SIMILAR TO THOSE ??
TO THE VAULT OF KNOWLEDGE ELDER* IM SORRY I MESSED UP WITH WORDS
I don't know if it make sense but I hope it clicks😭😭
Small tangent but Honestly it makes me question what makes elder headpieces so special. Like you’d expect since an elder wears a certain mask that only they can wear it you know? Like you don’t really see people wearing the crown form a Royal family yet every spirit in each realm but valley has a headpiece similar to their elder.
So like do the elders not care of others wear their headpieces? Or is there another way they differentiate eachother, like with clothing patterns? since the elders do have patterns on their clothes that you can only find on an elder, and not an ancestor, some patterns like flight guide has elements of Prarie elder because they’re an apprentice to them (I think ash confirmed this through different wording)
I just find it cool because like, it also implies the elders are fine with ancestors having similar headpieces to them. Like they don’t have to prove or restrict like how royals did with purple for example, ik I keep comparing royalty to them but I don’t see them like that.
Like personally I don’t see their relationship with their ancestors to be “ruler and citizen” with a huge devide, idk how to explain it but all are close with their people ;-;
OH stone tablets??
Yeah basically that !!!
YESSSS i love this
also they’re already these larger than life godlike figures with special powers, i would think they’re probably secure enough in their positions that they don’t mind people wearing similar things to them
Oo yaya i like that! I think al mentioned in a fic hir writing that the carving on vault headpieces would be the achievements the scholar succeeds or is a master in? I forget
I always thought it represented the symbolic idea of knowledge, since it has things written onto it
Yeah fair! Like they’re secure and comfortable in their position, they don’t have to prove that
OHH I SEE
I think it was so-named because of the golden decorations that used to exist on the statues and buildings.
It could also be more figurative, representing a former prosperity
But with all other elder's masks presenting a specific object, why not Vault elder?
It could also be a stone tablet that had inscriptions written on it
YEAH
Are stone tablets present in the realm? other than on scholars' head
Nah only murals, it might just be a vault thing
I personally hc the elders each having different ways of interacting with people that highlight cultural differences between each realm for example in a project i’m working on i have sunset being very casual and friendly like i’m not a regular elder im a cool elder, and dusk being more rigid about their authority but still listening and caring for people, like they show their care in different ways based on their roles and personalities
but this is just another one of my “i just think its neat” type hcs lol
i think the object is the vault building itself
Oo for me dusk would be the opposite, like really caring and taking great care of all the suggestions their people give. Would join in the festival’s their realm held before the war
Also this was inspired by Steven universe but I can see all ancestors calling the elders “my elder” or “elder [name]” yet also calling them by their names wirhout tiltle if they’re close or if said elder wants them too
i don’t think it’s the opposite actually, i think they would listen to suggestions too! my version is authoritative but not an authoritarian lol
one fun dusk fact is that they're wearing heels
Ah okay I misunderstood then, dusk would be less authoritative then for me
doesn’t preclude them from taking part in cultural things either
Yaya
I thought of that too but looking at vault from the outside, from eden, the temple doesn't seem to expand outward/horizontally on the upper level like the mask did
Could’ve been underground
, would make sence cuz vaults are usually underground
underground and up to the base of the mountain? that would be cool
for a second i thought “but what about the desert?” but then it hit me that the entrance to the desert is a ridiculously long cave that goes into a hill
I feel old
Brittle
Dust
(I’m being dramatic I’m excited to see Filis wearing flight stuff again :3)
They actually did it the absolute mad lads
I don't see ppl consider "new season" cosmetics as cool so I'm glad that flight will be one of the cool ones now
CHIMESMITH
trust me, in 2 years when tail spirit pops up as ts, people will be over the moon
Autism gang rise up! Yippee!
now that they're returning, does tinkering chimemith has any past or backstory?
How though exactly? Like how they became part of the flight crew?
yea stuff like that
“Meet the Tinkering Chimesmith, the illustrious Season of Flight spirit whose job it is to draw in Light creatures:
☁️ In tune with creature migration
⚒️ They work in tandem with the Talented Builder
🎐 Chimes require dexterity to craft—creatures only respond to specific tones!”
This was from TGC
Hc that the important journey hint is meant to refer to the exodus mentioned in a flight concept art
(i guess flight first hint from that <3)
ADHD gang rise up !
YAAAAY!!
We Got Both Gang Rise Up! ✨
Back to the Vault mask question tho, was Vault any different in Sky Light Awaits?
My true question about the Vault mask is : what seems to be drawn/written on it?🥴
I mean it could represent the shape of the realm and a book page idk
Nothing that has been deciphered
Ooop alr
Here are the changes I’ve found:
The music is different. It plays Hover (the Vault archive theme) in the first half and an unknown track in the second half.
From Wasteland, you had to enter Vault through a 2-player door.
The first floor is a significantly more desaturated and grayer color scheme.
The fourth floor has more rounded and smaller islands.
The final floor is extremely tiny, with only a single sphere for the elder shrine and an obscured sky.
Also differnt murals in beta i believe, the last one made it very clear what would happen in eden
Anyone got a pic of that last bit? I'm curious
Ya here! This is after vaults cutscene
Whoa that reminds me so much of Journey
Hello! Does anyone have any ideas as to why sky kids always have their eyes closed when their masks are off, but open when they’re on?
I have a theory that we can still see when our eyes are closed because we can see with our call or something like that. Like echolocation sort of but I don’t really have any proof, just what I came up with. Thoughts?
Someone posted that Eden destroyed everything, and it got me thinking...
in a strange way, Eden saved a lot, Wasteland had already started decaying and becoming like Eden, and Forest was already on its way. If it wasn't for the spirits being stopped before all the realms became a wasteland, or even like Eden, the beauty kept in the other realms could have easily been destroyed.
What would the rest of the realms have looked like now if the spirits were allowed to continue, without Eden stopping their ascention?
Alternate reality Sky realms:
Isle of Wasteland
Dusklight Prairie
Rainy Deforestation
Valley of Defeat
Golden Wasteland
Vault of Rememberance
Factoryland
vault of remembrance sounds. so cool ngl
honestly ngl what we got last season lol
i just think its like a quirk of skykid's, i mean with aurora spirits they also have their own maskless version, yet can see just fine. Plus i feel like if we see by calling, we'd have alot more different words in the game to imply that youknow?
I feel like we are technically seeing without seeing
Because we are made out of light we can technically exist everywhere at once so I feel like our characters when ever we call we basically in a split second we basically shoot out our light as a form of Echolocation to understand our surroundings
I love how in the pin they say that sky has “dark themes” oh no no no if they are talking about Eden that’s a freaking nightmare taking the scare factor from 4 to 100000 faster then the speed of light
Still 9+
But I think we can all agree that our first Eden run was scary
I like how Eden implies even darker things happening with near the PNR with statues of frozen (whatever that state is called) skykids literally shattering into pieces from the wind
It's really fascinating to me tbh
If a stoned person's broken, they can never reform back
So those skykid not only looses their body vessel, their souls are now stuck forever in eden as well...
I wonder what that statue represents
bobbitheth
Death or maybe depression
I always thought of it as our sky kids give into there darkness and sorrow after all what are they without their light?
I mean i just think that’s vault elder because that is one of their old concept art designs in light awaits
Can we agree the vault elder looks depressed
Or at lest upset
They look tired to me 💔
I mean looking over all the knowledge is a very tiring job
That I can see though I more mean tired of everything that happened up to the point of skykids coming down, like tired on seeing the realms degrade when they were alive along with the war and everything
Understandable
Like with remembrance we know the spirits were refugees for the war so ontop of that vault to me became a place for the wounded soldiers and civilians of wasteland to go
and because I have not been that active
Question of the day
What do you think the elders jobs or there roles in the kingdom of sky
Ah I see but it also seems like they were more prisoners than anything else judging by their memories
Or those could take place in different places, and simply being projected
Wait prisoners how?
I think the elder cutscenes are similar to the prophecy trials in that the places you enter by meditating don't actually exist, vela may have drawn up something about this a while ago
The tiptoe tea spirit they seemed to be hiding from guards
From the opposite side of the war I’m guessing, but not from vault if that’s what your suggesting
well many of the memories show things like trees and houses that don't exist in the vault, they likely take place in other locations such as wasteland which has been shown to have mushrooms like the ones tea brewer collects
Ya that! I go back and fourth on it being their own spaces in a weird limbo
It is called the season of ‘remembrance’ so that kind of makes sense
memories are strange and fickle beasts
But they also have deep roots in the story of sky though I’m unsure why
Their jobs probably vary, but overall they're leaders, guides and protectors of their communities and realms
Isle ushering travelers - ancestors and light creatures - onward, like Charon the ferryman
Prairie offering their temple as storage and/or pottery workshop, with piles of pots everywhere - and possibly spearheading or supporting the efforts to collect light from passing light creatures and making it usable
Forest being an inventor and artificer, developing dark stone technology that is meant to benefit the people of the entire kingdom
Valley twins being idols of their competitive realm, encouraging their people to hone both a rich culture full of performance and entertainment, and achieving for greater feats
Wasteland being a soldier and general, ready to fight to protect their people and kingdom - on their own, if necessary
Vault being the head of a collective of scholars, aiming to collect and preserve every bit of knowledge and memory of their people, no matter how miniscule
Hm fair point
Oo I’ve thought a lot about this: their main jobs to me would to help guide the light, but to also help ascend spirits to the stars, which they can still do even when they’re (kinda) dead.
Would explain why all basegame spirits go to the temple and are gone after the cutscene plays.
Outside of that I can just see them helping with their realms in their own way, each have their own rules and quirks that makes them unique, some focus more on mining, others farming, and some entertainment or teaching.
It really comes to preference and all
Also this is pure hc but I have an idea ancestors are made of clay as a small child, and are brought to the elder of the realm their in. Said elder then blesses the sculpture with starlight which brings an ancestor to life.
This mainly comes from the “all life is breathed by starlight” or somthing along those lines from the intro sequence
It makes sense and what if elders are grown up sky kids and our job it’s to do there job
I think it’s confirmed they’re different species (elders don’t grow to be skykids) but I forget which dev has said that
Aw dang
Plus like design wise they’re pretty different: elders have diamond cores, skykids have oval cores much like ancestors and can fly with light capes when elders don’t have that
Touché touché
I think the other way, Skykids inherit the roles of the Elders
Oh yeah let me just go die in eden like how the elders did for the hundredth time
is it an elders role to phase through walls
Why do you think the twins have underground tunnels
Skykids taking over the realm and ruling it and then going to dinner at grandmas after /j
that's a good question actually what is up with that
I think they use to to escape there jobs
Sparkler parent found it though so it’s not really hidden
Maybe they have special privileges
I mean taken care of sky kids seems like a very serious job
They stole sparklers for their kids
those seem to be catacombs of some sort
we see gravemarkers/memorials lining the hall of the valley temple, probably to honor valley's greatest athletes and performers
I'm sure space got a little tight, so they had to expand
Oo fair, if there were graves inside the tunnels id totally see that
So sparkler parent could be teaching the kids a history lesson
Campfire is there though though so makes me wonder if it just became a small and less busy corner to hang out at
Autocorrect wth
I could totally see it going “and here we have the great manta flyer undefeated although he tragically fell to his death after his 16th win in a row”
Got to love dark humor
"Their ashes lie right under this stone, to be eternally cherished by the Valley Elders... indeed, they were a great athlete"
To be fair, in the Sky kingdom, graveyards (aside from that in the wasteland
) seem to be social areas
to honor, celebrate, and connect with the dead
the forest and prairie social areas are also littered with grave markers
Yaya fair enough! Just the fact there’s only graves outside and not inside the tunnels makes me wonder
Give me serious day of the dead vibes
I honestly think that’s how death was viewed. Like bittersweet, plus the fact spirits are shown to be able to come down to the kingdom means if sombody does die they’re not gone, you can still talk to them. Yes it’s sad they’re gone, they’re still mourning, but they’re not gone forever
I have a feeling that happens in Sky more often
Like... monthly instead of yearly
Just a silly hc lol
I feel like spirits are semi conscious when we relive there memories and we get to experience there strongest emotion that is connected to that memory and only become fully conscious after we melt the darkness around there real(?) body’s
Yeah I can see that, like fragments being put together
But then there are the seasonal spirits simultaneously existing within their pocket dimension of memories also existing in the actual physical plane
And to be honest as a whole Other can of worms
Huh
There's this theory that the seasonals take longer to ascend because they have unfinished business which can be fulfilled by doing their quests
As in, basegame spirits ascend pretty much immediately but seasonals only do so after the questline ends
True but it also feels like we’re just experiencing a memory We’re inside the memory in general
Not to mention of but the seasonal guy stays behind I get it for gameplay perspective, but from a lore perspective it’s a bit confusing
That's totally fair
Though if it's just a memory, does that mean the spirits have no idea we're around?
Sky theory:
The entire game is just a dream, and the Office is just where the guy dreaming it works.
I mean abyss and performance shows that they clearly acknowledge us so I don’t think that’s the case, same for remberance and a bunch other seasons
"huh"
"i feel the presence of a small child"
"me too"
I feel like we are in a memory it’s just that we are able to interact and change it
For example, season of performance
What is the show did go bad but we old are the events by traveling into the memories. We just need to also be connected to time and change the events
Ooooh, time travel kids!
I had that headcanon but for Abyss and none of the other seasons
For the others it was more like completing the events that were cut off when they died
Oh do explain 🤔
My theory is that the spirits died before they were able to complete their “quest”, so now we have the job of making sure that they get to finish it in death.
cackling cannoneer
I took this from the meme channel but this sums this up perfectly
But I feel like the cackling cannoneer has a superiority complex and I believe this is a result of the incident with the King krill what it could’ve been what cracked their mask and if we didn’t intervene they would have been trapped in a void of darkness slowly drained of there light
(on mobile. Sorry for ping)
Kinda makes sense with spirits who have unfinished business.
I saw it as a storage room
My headcanon is this:
Original timeline:
Cannoneer ventures too deep, Abyss Guide tries to save them, both die, rest of crew is heartbroken (and maybe dies of that)
Altered timeline:
Cannoneer ventures too deep, skykid successfully saves them, crew is happily reunited, memories of previous deaths are replaced
Not all of them, some spirits continue their quest to this day, like Abyss
It makes sense tbh and to add more light to the fire that we are altering memories we go through the quest through the guide and we could be entering their memories
I feel like the sky kids goal is to help the spirits anyway possible
And it also seems like the sky kids doesn’t really understand death or have a moral compass judging by how they make fun of the dying soldiers memory in the GW
Maybe... until Eden happens
But no moral compass? That's the first time I've heard someone say that
At least to a degree
They probably don’t understand death because when a skykid dies, they just turn to stone, hence why they call Fainting Warrior, “Fainting” Warrior. Falling onto the ground and not turning into stone is just fainting to them, and to add onto that, skykids probably don’t know what breathing is.
OKAY HEAR ME OUT.
So the new season's spirits are animal spirit things right?
BUT THAT ONE I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF IS A RACCOON!
which means at some point, there were raccoons.
WHICH MEANS!
The shrine in Prairie were you can summon a dog is DEFINITELY CANON.
Tumbling Troublemaker.
Also, it does increase the possibility.
YEAH
Imagine Oreo is the mega bird reincarnated XD
OH WAIT you mean a tanuki?
Or maybe it's just their souls remaining and not knowing that they're dead. They continue their work and treat us like other Sky citizens coming to join them. After completing their unfinished explorations, they left
If the king of Eden really did fall into the diamond, then maybe the child of light we met when we died was him. Since I was so close to the diamond when I died in Eden, I might have been sucked into it. When we pull him up and hug him it can be a consolation or forgiveness. Whatever it was, he was later liberated and we truly opened the door to heaven (the sky) where our lit ancestors came. I AM SORRY IF I WORDED THIS WRONG
If there's an animal mask that means the animal exist in Sky
Which means there's loads of animal back then even mythical ones
but then there's barely any of them now
Do they all extinct
?
I mean, Oreo technically is a spirit animal so maybe???
I feel like there needs to be a few more dots in between to connect these two things like that
I feel like yall are trying so bad to fit Oreo into canon lolll

it's certainly not my area of focus
I'm a scientist at heart and what scientist would I be if I didn't try to find out the underlying principles of the universe
Dragons don't exist yet we can fantasis about them, nothing suggests the other animals actually exist (bar birds whales an manta and jelly fish), the tail is of a mythical creature from their world, just so happens to be a raccon
to be clear, I'm not denying that creatures like raccoons existed, I just disagree with the notion that the raccoon tail proves Oreo is canon without anything else attatched
i would say they exist the same way dragons don't exist.
as for oreo, just an easter egg, moving on
although the capes thing is interesting because there's another cape of one of the passage spirits, don't remember which, that almost looks like a bear pelt (?)
Yeah I don't agree with that reasoning either, but i just don't think that Oreo is canon
I think it's like trying to explain how office is canon
nodding
Except for that megabird drawing in the water tho

it's like saying an animal exists when you only have a painting of it, if you don't have an alive being or a fossel recored, it by all means is just a mythical creature
fake pelts do exist too
Im really trying to get into the lore of sky but I am so lost😭 Do yall recommend any yt videos or posts I can see/read?
The megabird can also be seen in orbit too tho, i think that's enough for it to be canon? (Also in many sky concept art)
yeah, the birds fine
I think baudshaw has a document for lore beginners somewhere but I will warn that sky is not like a lot of other games when it comes to lore
I am familiar with lore games (Especially Little Nightmares). Don’t hold back. 😭 /j
Ya sky is like, very open about interpretation, there isint a right or wrong anwser. Not saying everything can be interpreted differently but a lot can
Thank you!!

Ya here’s bauds link
https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
And there’s another that shows every mural in the game made by Salem, murals usually have a lot of info as sky likes to use pictures than words when it comes to lore
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FQgj2Ii1A9p1kSly9rehvZU-fPsKtGazuEGvE3Od-Bg
Aaah alright! Thank you sm!!💕💕
There's this one that I think is good if you want to know the basic lore: https://sky-lore.tumblr.com/post/653913306309033985/jikatuka-you-asked-for-it-and-you-shall/amp
I’m skimming through this and I’d have to disagree because it has the outdated cutscene, not only that but it has the mentioned of a huge ark (not the one from enchantment) which was only seen in concept art and had no evidence of it even existing outside of the concept art
Yes the poster says this is speculating but it seems they take a lot of liberty of making things that are only abandoned concepts seem to be fact
Not saying the entire post is like that but a ton of it is
It just seems like they’re more taking things from concept art/scrapped things that there’s no evidence in game to use it in, and presenting it as a possibility than a headcannon (which would be fine but that’s not what the post is about). Like this it’s more of their version of the story itself than a explanation of the lore
And yeah the whole “Open to interpretation” is valid but I feel like if they’re going to make a claim to atleast have some sort of ground to stand on. Concept art are concepts, some make it into the final game but most like the ark were scrapped and show nowhere in the game isint really soild ground
I feel like it’s believable to the point where it mentions the arc then. I think all that other stuff seemed pretty valid. But I never heard about the elders trapping him into the core of eden
I don't believe that's verified information
Yeah that’s the thing, a lot of what that post says presents it as it happening even though most is just pure speculating
Like there’s nothing to prove the elders trapped them there, that would be more of a headcannon than anything
Same for the giant ark that was meant to hold the kingdom, it’s a cool idea but again, pure speculation, not exactly something that actually happened
Alas concept art referenced and hinted at the ark in at least 3 parts. One of which is an illustration of the fabled ship.
And the season of Enchantment has one of the largest ships in the game called, the Forgotten Ark.
Yeah in that blog I also agreed w most up until they mention the ark and its objective, but the basic lore of the crystal/darkstone and light are fine.
It’s sad that theories are kinda the best we have rn and there isn’t much that’s concrete , I also thought that there would be more of a conclusion or like a way to actually push the darkness back more when I first started playing
I don't think that's sad, really
Sky is designed to be up to people's personal interpretation
And this open-endedness is what invites discussion and creativity
it's the same reason why some long-running series can never be wrapped up in a satisfying way
because many fans, along the way, have thought of their own ways they would love to see the story end, so anything else is a let-down
and lastly, just by the design of the game as a continuous MMO experience, it can't have a final conclusion
it's meant to be a game played for years
it can have many expansions to widen the options and the world
but it can't even feel 'done'
it can't ever feel like the player has done all, has seen all, and is done with the game to move on to the next one
I always thought the season quests happen in the present
The spirits are shown to interact with the world to a limited degree, so it would make sense for us to have us save them in the present
Have we figured out which creature the bones in graveyard belong to?
It could be any light creature, but my bet’s on it being a whale
The bones differ a lot from the whale's structure tho
They don't resemble the ones in forest boneyard at all
It is unfortunate, where such an interesting part of Sky gets so little discussion.
However, some say it is necessary in making sure making theories about Sky is as fun as possible.
In my opinion, more people should know about Sky lore. This is partly a failure on TGC on not making their lore more accessible, and partly a failure on the olayerbase for not focusing on it.
I don't think there's much of a failure there
It's like these iceberg memes
There's a lot of the story that is easy to discover - the spirit memories and such, and perhaps some spirit interactions
and then there's a lot that requires you to get invested, but that is also the fun part
to discover some things and try to find out what they mean, and try to find what else you might have missed
and connect with people to discuss your findings and ideas
however, if someone isn't interested in the lore... that's also not a failure
people have different things that interest them
so many different play types
if someone enjoys the game by just grinding every day, good for them
if someone loves sky for the possibility to make music or silly tiktoks, great!
if someone loves discovering and elaborating on the lore and characters, sweet!
The problem is when the lore is hard to access or can’t be easily found.
The lore should 100% be more accessible. I have summer break from college and have been pouring my current efforts into working on a solution — as much as I like talking in this channel, it sucks that joining a Discord server and asking other people for help to talk to you is currently the only doorway to some of my favorite interpretations in the game, as that’s simply not possible for most people.
That’s true. It’s likely that there were many, many animals that existed in Sky based on the spirit’s cosmetics, but they all went extinct.
This is also very true!
I am very biased as I like picking through Sky to find things, but I think that there’s a lot more information to find in the game itself than most people give it credit for. There are some things that could do with some more clarification, but those are likely going to be elaborated on in the future, like Shattering did for the Eden Diamond + explosion. The main roadblock for lore accessibility I can think of is that communities who talk about it aren’t really that accessible and are somewhat insular, like us; because of this, someone who wanted to learn about other peoples’ thoughts on the lore without having to interact directly with them would have to give up, which is unfair.
Saying the lore isn’t as well known because TGC likes to withhold it might be true to an extent, but there’s little we can do about that.
Saying the lore isn’t as well known because the fanbase isn’t interested in it and treating that like a failure on their end is false to begin with and judgemental for no reason. The way we enjoy engaging with Sky isn’t any better or worse than alternatives.
Where can I access info about this lore? Is there like a text with a summary of the lore ?
There is, in fact: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
Although if you want something more specific, it's best to ask here

🎵 Prairie roads, take me home... To the place I belooong... Golden Wasteland... Forest mama... 🎵
skybot no
skybot why
THAT CAT

An add on
I mean, even the in-game flavor text for gw is like "yeah this place is kinda the worst but don't worry, Vault is next"

Hi, since this is the lore questions, is the tinkering chimesmith a guy generally? I know sky cotl uses like non bi (I hope I’m not also offending anyone with genders too), but is the spirit generally a guy? Please have a simple and nothing to argue about the spirits gender (also excuse me for my specific question, hehe). Thxu ✨🎀
It's unsure about what kind of creature those bones belong to. According to the skulls, they were way larger than whales, mantas (they don't even have bones lmao) and krills.
The largest creature we've seen for now in Sky was the King Krill in the Abyss season
west wasteland
mountain wasteland
take me home
golden roads
Canonically none of the spirits or elders have gender, but some people assign individual gender preferences to them.
Unfortunately, Tinkering Chimesmith isn't that popular so I don't know what people prefer for their gender.
I call all spirits they/them unless specified otherwise by TGC, iirc one spirit was called he/him i think it was anxious angler but i can't remember
Huh
Wonder if anyone can find that for us
We regard Resh and Grandma as the only spirits with gender but that's kinda sorta just an inside joke
Ok, thx everyone
Have we figured where do winged lights came from?
In my headcanon winged lights are parts of the soul of the King that got bursted into many parts scattered throughout Sky during the eden explosion.
They’re called Lost Memories in the game, so maybe they’re the imprints left behind by previous Skykids
Most interpretations I know of have Chimesmith as non-binary, as for most other spirits. Though it depends on what part of Sky you’re looking around.
In the French translation they're referred as a female, but I guess it's up to the players to see them as a boy/girl/genderless etc
Grammatical gender≠actual gender
I have a Passage theory
yeah the spanish version does that a lot too, there are spirits that could be referred to as either the masculine or feminine version of the word. i don’t take it to mean that that is their Actual Gender bc i don’t think gender is really a thing in game and the devs have said it’s up to interpretation. but also since the masculine form is usually the default/used as a stand-in when the gender is unspecified, it’s kinda neat to see when they use the feminine one especially bc it’s not always the most fem presenting ones that have it
it’s like, the spirits’ gender is open to interpretation, but it’s not like masculine=default which is nice
spin a wheel of pronouns every time you refer to a spirit
the issue is that some languages, like Spanish or German, don't really have language with a simple neutrum
Yaya, what’s intersting though that in the languages that don’t have netrunms, some spirts are labeled as he/him OR she/her which I find cool! Cannoneer for example is he/him in Russian and she/her in Spanish I believe which is neat
They are called like that? Where in the game?
And honestly that name just reinforces my headcanon of winged lights haha
I have a theory that they are what’s left of the sky kids that fell in Eden the lights are there light going to a place that was significant to them since in the world of sky memories seem to be very powerful though I’m unsure why
We are not just returning the fallen sky kids light
We are returning THERE light back to them and also giving a bit of our light to help them in the process
But here’s my question of the day
What do you think caused Eden and was it aways there or was it recently created?
i wouldn't say always there as the state it's in now, in the Aurora concert one of the songs has the creatures fly out towards it, think it's warrior, looks perfectly intact then
And in the concert, she literally took on the form of Eden since I was like, wondering the entire part of the show where she was until the ending (for warrior)
But the hard part about it is that we don’t know if the concert itself was Canon to the story (the stories that we’re being told are definitely Canon though)
It’s also showing that the sky kids also seem to visit some sort of Shapeshifting since we turn from fish to butterflies then birds, then jellyfish back to birds, and then butterflies again and then we take our ascended Light form
the concert doesn't need to be cannon for the areas that are referenced to be cannon, if that makes sense, like isle once being green, it too comes from the concert.
as for the shapeshifting, i think that it's more imagination, we don't actually move from our seats, we just play pretend
as children do have a vivid imagination after all
Makes sense since we are considered sky KIDS and I think the mechanic is similar to when we Melody at the shrines of the elders are basically entering a type of pocket dimension created from both the imagination of Aurora and also a mixture of our imagination mostly taking the form of us being able to Shapeshift
And then there’s the part where we get launched into orbit which I feel like a metaphor for us being able to listen pass our previous knowledge now that we have a pass knowledge
Speaking of which I feel like “ through the eyes of a Child” was Aurora warning us what would happen if we don’t go to Eden and free the others since I feel like Eden is using the petrified Sky kids as a type of battery slowly getting stronger
Where is everyone?
Considering it's called "rebirth", "through the eyes of a Child" could be as simple as this, Aurora Rebirthing to become a child again, not only that, but the entirety of SKY is seen through the eyes of a child in it's current form. we are just in a sand pit the adults left behind
Touché touché
The concert could take place before the clamity, when things where getting bad though, probably as a form of protest, like a green protest, i don't think it would've started a civil war, but it may have planted seeds of discontent
the form of Eden?
Sorry to keep you waiting, @sharp lichen @junior epoch @viral bay
Hope you guys see this later
This isn't quite a theory, more of headcanons really
||The reasons why the Passages take place at night
-
To keep other people from interrupting the test
By this time most other grown-ups are asleep and won't come out of the house to wonder why these underage children are scavenging in the middle of the night. That wouldn't be convenient. -
To enhance the powers needed for the Passages
At the very least, the Passages require levitation magic (part of purple light magic) to make the masks move. The source of purple light may be something that's only present in the night sky, and doing the Passages at night would make purple magic more powerful, thus allowing Passage Guide to have better control over the masks. Also, if some of that darkness is just an illusion, the purple light helps with that, too.||
This seems like a rite that every adolescent in this community is supposed to go through, so I'm sure other adults would be aware.
But throughout history, eclipses and the like have been surrounded by a lot of symbolism and meaning as people tried to make sense of such phenomenon, be it something that foretells the future of the emperor (china) or punishment and abanonment (greek) or other bad omens, usually seen as a disruption of order.
It would only make sense that an event that, at least for some time, covers up one of the largest sources of light in the sky would be considered a momentous occasion laden with meaning.
Whether it actually influences how magic works or not, it is not surprising that traditions developed that revolve around an event like that.
I have one thing on my mind..
||1. Dark plants are phase 1 of corrupting light creatures, if they spot a dead and rotting light creature, the dark plants start growing on them, and they will slowly turn into dark creatures, like: Butterflies -> dark crabs, Mantas and the big fish -> krills, and etc.||
||2. The dark plants/crystals can control skids - if a krilled skid is not lightened for long time, the dark plants/crystals slowly start growing on them.||
||3. If the crystals and plants are deep inside the skid enough, the skid can walk around, they become something like.. A zombie covered in crystals/dark plants, they can attack skids by mimicing theyr voice, and then they attack them and take theyr light, and ofc infect them.||
Why do I feel like there’s gonna be a zombie ast apocalypse
I got thoughts on those scp stuff idk why
Proud victor and fainting warrior are feminine in Spanish 😌 also there are some that use the same word in different forms, like minero (m) consciente = mindful miner // minera (f) de luz llorona // tearful light miner
Speaking of the recent season something I find very odd is the form skids take then they are not in your group being small ghost wearing the mask which is very strange as well as the whole concept of the very first lesson “the lesson of reliance”
it’s just a reskin of the concert models, i like how everyone wears the mask and outfit tho it feels like you’re part of the group
I know but the lore applications there’s a bit more for me not to ignore
the lesson of reliance is about sticking together in a group
working together to clean up the forest - there is no way you can grab all the pieces yourself, so you need to trust that some of the other ones can get the ones you don't before the light moves on
and if you lose your way, you need to rely on others to come and pick you up as the light moves past you
it's a lesson about the fact that sometimes you need to rely on others and work together, because you can't do everything on your own, but also about the fact that having to rely on others is not a failure, it's not a bad thing, it's just a thing that happens sometimes and live goes on after that
i have thoughts about the reliance lesson lol #lore-discussion-spoilers message
I'll hear you out.
“also about the fact that having to rely on others is not a failure, it's not a bad thing” felt this Deeply like message received lshdjkdhdk
the little fluffballs I imagine are just what kids would dress up as for these lessons and trials
hide who you are so you don't just stick to your familiar friends, and so you don't feel like you can boast to be the one that got everything done first
our skykid and the other multi-server ones looking different is, I'd assume, just a gameplay necessity, because it needs to be possible to recognize your own skykid and the ones in the same server session as you - but they wanted other skykids to have a more immersive look than badminton cones
I don't exactly understand why the crowd feature has to be there I'll admit
This season seems to be heavily themed in som Mesopotamian mythology the form that this guy kids take that we are unfamiliar with seem to look like house spirits they are depicted in the mythology or stories the fact that they wear a mask, different animal/lesson only adds more fuel to that fire
Hey, you should submit to that Sky Stories thing! They wanna know what hits deeply!
I mentioned this before, but this whole quest reminds me of things I would do as a kid in summer camp and the like - nightly walks through the dark forest as a group as a sort of test of courage (accompanied by adults that is)
I think the crowd feature being there is supposed to make you feel less alone
the forest is spooky, and if you had to do this alone, it would be terrifying and probably also dangerous
but you're not doing this alone, you're literally with a crowd of kids, everyone watching out for the others
which circles back to the lesson of having to rely on others
ngl i’ve thought about it
thats fair! I just think it makes it harder to actually pick up all the junk and stuff, especially with how fast the mask moves
Especially when it starts shrinking
Yeah
Is it possible to stray at the wrong time and be softlocked until the quest ends?
Ngl I couldn't tell that we completed
Also I was about to ask "ayo wym drinking???
I reviewed the footage of me playing the quest
The circle meter thing wasnt anywhere near halfway done
So when the masks started floating up I thought "welp we're screwed" and thought they'd all start firing death lasers at us or something
But no ofc that didn't happen
Sky has never been about perfection or completion, not in the valley races, not when clearing a shard, it's all about taking part and doing your best
though yeah, the end of the track isn't communicated very well
would have been adorable if the guide was there doing a
when we arrive
Like
The meter was at 1/6 full and I went like
"Wait, that's it?"
I thought that the masks would rise up when we ran out of time and I thought that they'd... "inflict judgement"
Hence the assumption that death lasers were involved
sky isn't generally the type of game for death lasers yeah
The Krill Are Trying to Save the World You Are Destroying: A Concerning Theory. Part I
Have you ever been the victim of a krill? Did it fly down and extinguish your light? Have you ever wondered why?
Krill are not malicious creatures like some may believe. Instead, krill are on a mission to save the world.
Sky kids (skids) go around lighting the world on fire. We see a candle and we must set it aflame. However, fire can get out of control and burn the world around it. Beautiful landscapes full of flowers can end up ablaze when the wind blows a candle’s flame. Every fire we set is a disaster waiting to happen.
there are many examples of plants that actually need fire to spread
Krill see our firelighting behavior and attempt to save the world by putting out our flame. The krill are not the villains we believe them to be. They are actually the heroes of the story.
Team Krill: May your mission be celebrated.
Team Skid: See you at the next candle my friend.
Corrupted Skykids already kind of exist, though they’re far less “consuming zombie” and far more “I’m about to die help”
Because it’s cool
I actually don’t like it (already went into on detail in feedback) but all I’ll say is I wish it was optional and not required
because they put massive ammounts of resources into a thing and they want to use it more than once is the short end of it.
problem is they do not know how to impliment it properly and are still in the budding phases of learning that.
Ya exactly, bloom worked very well but for passage it’s a lil out of place
i think if there was a way to silence the other players it might be okay
like keep the ones in your server being able to honk,.
it might become more dull then though but half the problem is he flashy noise and honks
I did turn down the sound effects when I did the quest
that was nice
all the honking is a bit much yeah
I do like the crowd, but a little less crowd and noise would get the point across too
flies in here Imagine if there was ground creatures besides crabs that just do their own little thing, kinda like how there is mantas that fly wherever and birds just being birbs
Is the megabird confirmed?
confirmed to some degree
there are megabird shapes to be found in murals (like the one on the plate at home) and in the starts (in orbit)
anything about the megabird's role or significance in the universe is purely derived from concept art, though
Post Megabird
I always thought that was supposed to be a flame but yeah I can kind of see the bird now. Cool!
They’re also up doing there
Think it transitions into a flame (zooms all the way out) at the end but yeah that’s them!
i got this realisation about Overactive Overachiever. why did It the only spirit with similar cape as Passage Guide...? Does this indicates he's the prodigy for the next Passage Guide?
How tall is a chibi, moth and an average spirit?
ts fixed?
Yeah its been fixed for a while
OMG SOS RORRY I PUT THIS IN WRONG CHANNEL 😭
ITS OKAY
the rhythm bird has similarity to Megabird, are they related? or is rhythm bird just a smaller portion of them
I need this. How do u get it I NEED PHOTOS NOWW XDD
||also who is megabird???||
||Nvm i found out is the noodle lookin thing||
Secret Area in Vault spoilers: ||TGC has stated before that yearly events such as xmas and halloween take place in office because that's a place that represents the real world, and it wouldn't make sense that xmas, halloween and sky's anniversary took place in-game because these celebrations are not a thing in the ancestors' society.|| So this would mean that the Lunar New Year, although it is a celebration that happens irl, it's also a thing in Sky's society, meaning that the ancestors celebrated the new year as we see in-game
Its Season of rhythm final cutscene
https://youtu.be/Rozpvn71g7Y
Disclaimer: you can't experience it anymore since it was only for people who finished 100% Rhythm constellation anyway
But we never burn anything besides darkness that hurts the environment
For spirits I have no idea, but chibis are 2 foot 3, and moths are 3 foot 2.
ty
Yeah, most Days of Events take place in the Sky world itself, like Feast, Rainbow, and Fortune
I think all events Days of... are only celebrated in Sky world for the sake of gameplay, not actual celebrations in Sky culture.
There are some events that are definitely more incorporated in the world's lore, like Days of Bloom
tho it's unclear if these events were actual holidays during the ancestors' times, or if that's something the spirits are now doing for the skykids and to finish what they wanted to do during their life (like growing giant pretty trees)
The existence of Homespace also made me think, maybe when the Megabird created us, it gave us access to an area above space and time in Sky, like how Orbit is.
(Bc i just don't think spirits had access to homespace when they were alive)
Hello I’m new to this channel can someone pls tell me what this channel is about
Talking about Sky lore
me, doing homework: do a normal sentence dont be weird
also me:
No one will ever know
Edit: Though your teacher may drop some points if they don't consider "fic" a real word
i could see both
Yall can i ask somethin suuuper stupid rq
What is the confirmed/canon lore so far? A small ask from a veteran who has no idea what the hecks going on anymore lmao
that's not a stupid question, but also that's not answered so easily or quickly
Aaaah i see haha i apologize then xD
Tgc has made their statement clear that the story is up to each interpretation.
BUT while some details are quite fuzzy, some storyline are clearer than others
simply put, all that is confirmed is mostly what you can see in game
the memories and murals and the like
what they mean or confirm exists or what their significance is is mostly up to interpretation
for example, there's a mural in the Abyss area that shows a structure, with mantas on one side and diamonds on the other side
this heavily implies that mantas (and probably other light creatures) were used in the production of dark stone
but none of this is spelled out in game
Like for example the fall of the Kingdom was implied to be caused by overexploitation of Sky resources
Okay guys, maybe this has already been discussed here, but I want to ask. Why do you think it's so flooded?
Personally, sky’s own version of global warming since this does seem to be a factory
Perhaps on the first screen in the "windows" there were barriers, as in the place where we first see a huge krill
But the trolleys under water leave a lot of questions.
Sea levels couldve risen, I mean the animation project shows there’s so much more land that’s now replaced with an ocean
I see! Thank yall haha
Honestly i believe that there was some horrible event that made a war break out hence what we see in wasteland, it could have been a captalish area methinks, and in the reliving memories it seems super sad and some of the newer events have been leaning towards a warish idea in my mind tbh
Yes, it is noticeable. I am also concerned about how high the water has risen, which can be seen on the islands of the abyss

But i never know! My expectations could be subverted and i could be wrong xD because it looks like a lot of the areas are theyre own domain and that each of the elders ran their own "kingdom" so to speak but all of what we see in the game and murals is super cool and id love to see more lore, if ya cant tell i love figuring out stuff haha
Oo ya i also think that too! Personally like to think it was over resources and the exploration of it. Not sure how familiar you are with darkstone but it’s basically the mineral we used to light doors, power boats ect.
Aurora concert shows mindful miner collecting these but also on two occasions shows mining accidents, and how the two realms who collect and produce barely use it at all when other realms (mostly valley) has it everywhere
YEs thats exactly what i was thinking, there was a clear theme of pollution and the death and rebirth of nature in the concert and i thought it had a significant story to tell it also colludes with the vault event with the veteran and stuff like that! I
Yaya! like for me it could’ve been like
Wasteland doesn’t want to produce darkstone anymore, could be for how badly it affects the realm environmentally.
But Valley that is so integrated with darkstone needs it.
Tensions rise, war happens as each realm has their own reason, but that’s just pure speculation for me on who wasteland fought and why
Though with vault having the most darkstone out of anyone was an ally for wasteland since they did shelter refugees shown with the rememberance spirits
Yess yess! Oh lord i love disscussing this stuff omg
I think that an event that i vaugely remember was like the one before or was the ark event and i was enthralled by the story, and methinks they were a kinda protester against the war or somthin, but i do also remember other things as well but not explicitly
Augh yeah the ark murals are a little fuzzy so I can’t really recall it
Let each of the locations in the game be called "kingdoms". But I prefer to think that each location is like a city, and Eden itself is the capital of the whole kingdom. But maybe it only sounds cool in my head😅
I see! I can also see that, but eden boggles my mind some all i know is that eden is a massive part in the story
An add on on why I think it’s valley/wasteland personally for the war is because of the cyclone that blocks wasteland out too. Like prophecy shows most of the elders getting color lights from the mural, and the twins have the cyan/wind light.
And like a cyclone that just so happens to be outside where it connects to another realm where a war happened seems much to convienet to be natural, plus it’s been spinning for yearsss
ALSO the cyan light in the aurora concert for the seeds section but that’s a whole other thing
Oh my god yeah
Also how the heck do they explain the devroom being in the game lore wise?
You don’t, i think it’s confirmed to be an ester egg area for fun
Much like for Oreo as the lil lad is a real dog, just a lil somthing for funsies
Yes, they are just places to have fun. If the development office were a lore part of the sky, then the entrance would not be hidden like that
Oh, you can make super reactions for custom emojis? I didn't know! :0
Super reactions don’t work on mobile
I did it once, now I need nitro
I mean, the two can coexist
not just any other realm, one that has been implied to be so close with valley that they could have been considered one
golden valley tweet lives rent free in my mind like the implications the Drama-
https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
It’s mostly things that’s seen in-game or confirmed by the developers. Here is a compilation of those
I think it was a large flood sometime late in the Sky kingdom that caused the Treasure Reef area to be underwater
Yes it looks like it's true
There’s also something interesting to think about: floods, especially for a mining area like Treasure Reef, leave little room for the environment. But now, we see a bustling marine ecosystem
if each realm represents a stage in life, what does vault represent?
old age and wisdom
but if vallee is adult, isn't wastland old age too?
wasteland iirc is the mid-life (crisis)
ooh i see 👍
wasteland is when you worry about getting old
vault is when you are already old and made peace with just enjoying the rest of your life, drawing from the experience and knowledge you learned in life and passing it on to younger generations
i see thanks for explaining 😊
valley is (young) adulthood when everything seems to happen so much and you enjoy the absolute freedom of being able what you want to do, but also opportunities passing by you so fast that you might miss some of them
thanks, i really like this lore
can i read more about it in detail about each realm somewhere?
Isle is birth/newborn
Prairie is childhood
Forest is teenage
Valley is young adult
Wasteland is midage
Vault is old
thx! can i read more about it somewhere?
https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit This goes slightly in detail
this document speak about the realms, only sky kids and elders, is there another one?
not entirely, compare to sanctuary , treasures reef has very little vegetation with darkness creatures regroup there, its like they're the opposite to each other
Most likely treasures reef still has the damage remains from pollution and the flood, sure it may be recovering, ||but thats for the next days of nature.../j||
Eden is death + rebirth
do you have the document sheet for realms? this one is for spirits
Do you want the concept art we’re pulling the stage of life things from? Unfortunately, I don’t think we have a google doc for realms specifically
not conept art, one that explains the lore like this one pls
Sadly I don’t think we have any other documents like that right now :( as it stands, the best way to engage with the lore knowledge we have avaliable is by lurking here and/or asking questions.
there’s the thing in the office that shows the stages of life but vault isn’t on it, it’s implied based on where it falls in the progression of the game tho
oki thanks ✌️
Talking fully about the realms would take hours. However, there are some things I can point to
The realms of Sky have multiple meanings referring to progression.
Of course, you know about the progression of human life that each realm follows, but there’s also the progression of the day.
Isle is sunrise, Prairie is day, Forest is rain, Valley is sunset, Wasteland is dusk, and Vault is night.
Also, each realm’s architecture represents a stage in the life of a civilization.
Isle’s is incredibly simple, with little more than temporary structures and caves to live in.
Daylight Prairie has heavy Buddhist influences with the Buddhist prayer wheels in Sanctuary Island and stupas in the villages. However, the architecture is still in its infancy, with more complex structures being rarely seen.
The Hidden Forest has fancier architecture like treehouses, houses with rooms, and bridges, LOTS of bridges. It’s likely based on the classical/medieval time period in real life.
The Valley of Triumph’s most impressive architecture is the very clearly Roman Colosseum. The houses are also fancier, having gold being placed in the buildings itself.
Most of Wasteland’s architecture is heavily deteriorated, but there are still industrial/modern fortresses and factories.
Vault’s architecture is very futuristic, with technology beyond even current humanity’s level.
And finally, the seasons in Sky connect to each other and the realm they take place in.
The Isle seasons, Prophecy
and Passage
, are based around learning wisdoms and values through tests.
The Prairie season, Sanctuary
, is mostly about caring for and living in harmony with light creatures.
The Forest seasons, Assembly
and Flight
are about trying to live in balance with a technological world while still caring for light creatures.
The Valley seasons, Rhythm,
Dreams,
Performance,
and Aurora
all focus around entertainment: whether it be music, sports, acting, or concerts.
The Wasteland seasons, Enchantment
and Abyss
are about trying to live through the devastation.
And the Vault seasons, Little Prince
and Remembrance
are about the consequences of adulthood, whether it be the sins of the Prince spirits or the lives lost in Remembrance.
Realms and stages of life concepts
It makes me sad that Eden (death) often gets left out of conversations about realm themes; Leon has some really good ideas about how it communicates the concept of death and rebirth especially with the limbo scene. I think there’s something to be said about Eden being themed around death & Shattering (the closest we have to an Eden season) is based on the kingdom’s last moments.
Nodding nodding
guys i need to ask- whats the megabird ?? ive heard that word a few times when reading sky fics n all that but i never understood what the megabird was
is it that big bird from the season of rhythm ?
Yeah it's that big bird
Megabird is the proverbial god of Sky, pictured above.
the big bird in the end of season of Rhythm cutscene is an elder bird.
rhythm bird for comparison
OHHHHHHH
We love Megabird, my friends say Megabird looks like a bunch of spaghetti
Genuine question, where can you see representations/indications of Megabird outside of the Orbit ? Because I saw many people spotting the King's silhouette but not much Megabird's silhouette (which is weird because it's a God yk)
summoning the concept art megabird / Bird of Light
There is a subtle detail on the doorway to the Day Temple.
A series of lines drawn on the frame that resembles that on the portal frame in Orbit.
Other than that used to be the bird shrines.
These used to be a shrine skykids could interact with to send them home.
Though sadly, the last two shrines in the game were removed. Apparently because it made some new players confused on why they got sent home.
In my opinion, they could have simply disabled the function and kept them around. Since they were a nice reference to the few Light Awaits assets that stuck around for this long.
The one shrine used to be in the pathway towards the broken bridge section in the boneyard area in Hidden Forest.
The other used to be in the ruins of the structure in front of the Wasteland Temple. Near the area where you start the Aurora memory quest for Seed of Hope, but on one of the blocks in the tar.
the Forgotten Ark depicts Megabird on one of its murals
Ooooh I see now, thanks
And tbh I can understand the choice of removing it but I agree they could've just disabled the tp instead (to keep it a memory like that one dead bird before the Citadel in Valley). But since location shrines exist now I quite understand the decision because moths would've 100% confused them for location shrines
I heard birb and came running
Imagine if Sky were able to feature more birds.
Swans, barn owls, hummingbirds, eagles, flamingoes....
What other birds can we add on to this?
Those ?
more of the second one, but the idea is there.
Oddly enough, I would like to see soaring big birds as well as very small birds for various reasons
Big soaring birds
- nice variation of flap patterns
- birds that are bigger than the ones we see but smaller than Rhythm's
- We have a handful of uses for big soaring birds irl (hunting, communication, and distractions)
Very small birbs
- Nice to have around like pets
- Zyoom but small!
- The sheer amount of speed these little guys have
Omg imagine parrots for Days of Rainbows ಥ‿ಥ
Yes to both.
Love the way you two think!
:3!
The second pic is the first in chronological order, and in the way I read the mural, il could be an extension of Megabird's tails/feathers following on the other side of the ark
Days of Flight 2 electric boogaloo.
As stubborn as I am, I believe the elder bird could have made it into that season.
The spirits had birds.
The area had birds.
The quests had birds.
And yet what did the final quest do?
A greater manta panicking at dark plants and rocks hurling towards the island.
And also, the red and blue lights with the krill roars in the Wasteland portal was cool and yet felt a bit flat when the season concluded with skykids flying around to rescue tiny birds bugging around in dark plants.
(a bit Déjà vu when considered rescuing light creatures from plants are very similar to the mantas caught in plants in the boneyard, Forest)
Exactly what I thought when I did the quests, not to mention that both of those quests are in the same realm (in the way that you access the Wind paths through the Hidden forest portal) but it's interesting because now we can ask ourselves about the security of wind paths: like nothing is stopping darkness nor krills to get in if they wanted to 🥴
It would've been interesting to say that birds are the true guardians of the paths yk
Agreed.
I dearly hope to see the elder bird return to the game some day.
And stick around too.
Am not a big fan of having a creature introduced to the game, just for them to be taken out without a good reason (and no. taking them out just for them to return for an event that sticks around for a few days in a whole year is not enough).
Namely, the sky puppies
(unless they did stay in the sanctuary islands and I did not see them)
I can imagine the sky puppies might return as a daily quest on random days
That would be a nice surprise ❤️
but it's a pity that something like the elder bird is locked behind a season cutscene that isn't available anymore
Very much agreed.
Especially with the season back in Light Awaits, and partially in the first days after the game was globally released (if I am not mistaken)
Very few sky players have seen the creature in the game, let alone 'in person' (with their own skykids)
We can hope for owls
Supposedly Thoughtful Director's mask is an owl
Can some vault lore experts answer my question please?
Does anyone know why the vault elder’s mask is chipped? What happened?
Same reason why Isle Elder’s mask is broken, if I have to guess
maybe these are cracks they still carry from the time the eden diamond exploded
That all makes sense
OK sky kids are basically the descendants of spirits right ? So is that why they pass down there accessories to us as a heirloom or something
it's probably more that the ancestors teach the skykids why these things are so important to them and what they look, feel and sound like
much like they teach them emotes
it's not a heirloom passed down through generations, it's something the skykid picks up and learns from the spirit in that moment, and learns how to recreate it through light
Ohhhh yeah that makes alot more sense too
I like to think the ancestors have a big gifting culture, hence the “gifts of gratitude” or progressing “friendship trees” to recieve their items.
Sky lore in 10 words or less

this will affect the trout population
Do you think that the Eden explosion could’ve been cause for the weakening of the elders?
And do you guys think that Eden is conscious?
I think the Void of Shattering is, if that answers your question
yea I don't think the Elders are okay
Touché
but here’s the thing we do not know the extent of the elders powers but if they’re regarded as gods in mortal form or something along that line is that they must be incredibly powerful and in order for Eden to just casually be destroying pure embodiment of light like it’s nothing it must be incredibly powerful as well
The Eden Diamond at least knocked them back, and given that the Skykids can't do anything to it the Elders might be defeated by the sheer power of Eden as well
King made big bang. Everyone dead. Save everyone, have fun.
Hm
If the four Trial areas are on the map, does that mean they’re real physical spaces?
Quite possibly.
However, it's also been hypothesized that the map was created by a skykid, or at least someone who perceives the world the same way as a skykid.
Or that putting the trials in the map would make it easier for skids to understand.
One thing to note is that on the map shrines, the trials are placed exactly where their respective entrance shrines are placed. So the entrance shrine takes you to a pocket dimension of sorts where you do the Trials, making it so that it's on a different plane of reality than normal but still able to be recorded on a map/
I have a slightly more eloquent abridged summary but it's more than 10 words
Get candle. Avoid shrimp. Shove crab. Honk honk.
Edit: Oh oops I missed the word "lore" 😅
Fun fact: This memory is a reuse asset dated back to Sky Light Awaits versions of eden: "Storm"
It can be seen at the windy section right before venturing the storm
This ties in perfectly with many peoples' interpretations of the different regions as representations of different periods of our life:
Isle - the place of birth. When we are taught the basic things to survive, skill sets like patience, diligence, mental balance and courage.
Priarie - in our adolescence, when we are fascinated by so many new things, like the creatures that swim and fly without much worry of the darkness in life.
Forest - in our youth, we start to see the challenges and new mental breakthroughs, like cooperation with others. We get a slightly better understanding of this world and how everything is connected. At this point we may even feel overwhelmed.
Valley - as we compete in society, we chase our dreams, our ambitions, relishing in the joy of having this amazing experience.
Wasteland - but reality still brings us back to the ground, for life is not a straight smooth road as we would wish it to be. Too often is life rocky and filled with people who only see whether or not you are beneficial.
Vault - and as we reflect over our memories in life. The things we regretted, the things we've forgotten - what it was like when we were children.
I really liked how at the Resurrection in Eden, we fly up into the stars just like the Little Prince did in the film. It's really amazing how TGC is also keeping such consistency with the Seasons and their respective regions.
Realize I need a document for Shattering Poems analysis
Has TGC released other concept arts relating to Winged lights other than Tom Zhao?
If there are, I'd like to see them pls

Sorry if this was already discussed in the past, but do you think it would be realistic for tgc to create a "season of end" (sorry for the poor wording) which would technically involve a series of quest that lead to the resolving of the eye od Eden and the restoration of the last realm, plus the awakening of the king? I know that the main issue would be not being able to go to an eden run anymore, but ascending candles can still be forged by daily shard events, and players who finished all the quests could maybe get to enter and visit "The Light" area as they wish just like any other spirit limited area. Plus I personally don't think it would be so bad to actually have an ending point, but that's just a personal opinion.
Again, sorry if this was probably discussed so many other times I'm new here😭
Season of Shattering part II? wow
oooo that would be awesome ngl
No, it fits here!
The end of Sky is a very interesting topic in a gameplay and lore sense, so much so that I’m writing a story about it on AO3.
Lorewise, it’s a bit hard to say on whether the end of Sky will come in a big, grand season. As much as I like an idea of a Shattering follow-up season, I don’t think it will happen as the very last season.
Sky’s profits are a delicate thing to balance. On one hand, supporting a massive and expansive world for thousands of people to play on costs a lot of money. On the other hand, TGC can capitalize on rich players who will do anything to spend money (usually referred to as whales in gaming).
They have said that Sky will not shut down for the foreseeable future, which makes me think they won’t ever shut it down unless:
There’s a massive catastrophe in TGC
The playerbase and profits start dwindling
A company takeover of TGC causes problems
In all these scenarios, TGC won’t have enough time or money to develop a fantastical season to quell all our lore desires. Sky will go out not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Lore wise, the Sky kingdom seems to be in a state of constant peace for now. Shards do erupt from time to time, but Skykids can destroy them. This balance between light and dark will probably continue for a long time.
Do you want to hear my ideas for a Season of Shattering 2?
go ahead
The Void of Shattering becomes more and more cracked over time, and we finally learn their true origin.
Each Shard has become more powerful, and each realm has their own shards which leads to their own Ancient Memories. There are more locations for shards, with almost nowhere being safe.
Aerial shards are more common, so Skykids learn a new lighting technique such as flame bursts or aerial candles.
There are also Ancient Memories that depict the creatures, alongside a more chaotic and ruined landscape and petrified bodies to show the Ancestors.
Isle has slow moving aerial shards to represent Birds.
Prairie has fast and erratic aerial shards that move in a circular motion, representing Butterflies.
Forest has simple land shards that sways back and forth, representing Fish.
Valley has sporadic shards that constantly renew, representing Ancestors.
Wasteland has a massive, interconnected shard that sways up and down, representing the Leviathan/King Krill.
Vault has slow aerial shards that move in every direction, representing Cosmic Mantas.
Personally I don't think it's realistic for tgc since they've made their statement clear and crystal many times that the canon lore is open ended for everyone to have freedom to interpret it, it brings people together to discuss it and after all, bringing people together is Sky's fundamental principle/purpose.
But with that said, it would totally be satisfying lore-wise to finally have a closure on what happened to the King and why things happened the way they did though.
I can see more 'major' plot seasons happening throughout the game's lore that will give us more bits of lore each time, but I don't think we will get any definite big finale
Already jumping there so soon 😄 Link to your AO3 please? I'd like to see how your "ending" turns out.
I am also working on an AO3, although related to the "ending", I don't plan on writing the actual "ending", nor touch much base on lore actually since it's really not something I want to hold accountable for, and I'd like to see other people theorise + official content
i just noticed something. im standing next to tinkering chimesmith, and i see that they dont have fingers like other spirits do. they have a mitten hand like us skychildren do.
Help Baudshaw to put this: https://archiveofourown.org/works/46634617/chapters/117444826
show me your fic
now i am mildly interested 👀 are you able to send a pic?
yeah gimme a moment!
oh theyre such a silly, thank you vanya
yeah np!! i was chillin by them and saw that and was like. hang on
Thank you for your answer!
Secrets sky kid confirmed?!
prob just their model. Peeking Postman's model is just the skykid model sized up. could be somethingsimilar with Chimesmith's
if its natural hand then that means they only has 1 large finger and thumb
In the past, this was explored ang the conclusion back then was that the game itself has it limitations.
While some models would have more details than others, such as fingers instead of the hand 'mitten' look. Likely so because the character would have an animation that includes the detail (such as pointing a finger as an example). Or out of convenience for another character who happens to use the same model.
While the amount of details a character in sky would have is not consistent, it may be implied that skykids/ancestors/elders etc would have more details than what their ingame models would have.
A good point of evidence to show this is with the animation project that can afford to add so much more details to the characters, creatures and features in the world of Sky, beyond what the game can afford to use.
Thanks
Only got my account yesterday. I'll see if I can put the first chapter up today ^^
hi hi! could anybody explain why the shards fall from eden.... a friend asked (a moth) and i am NOT knowledgeable in basically any of the sky lore 😭💀
There’s sadly no definitive reason on why it started sadly
I just think it’s the diamond getting a little unstable but that’s just me
If you look closely, you can actually see it doesn’t just come from anywhere from Eden, but instead the very top of Eden.
Because of this, I think the shards come from this giant diamond that you can find in the Point of No Return. It expels so much stuff, so it could probably expel Shards as well.
ty!!
My question is what is that light coming out of the top of the Eden diamond then? That’s some thing that always confused me
The Eden beam of light that’s present in many murals, I think.
Some think the Eden diamond was placed to take up the energy from the Eden beam, others theorize the diamond was placed to replace the beam
In the old introduction cutscene , we khow eden is linked with the 6 realm and are their power source, so the diamond/crystal may have already been expelling since its created and up untill its corrupted
Can someone send me the lore doc? I remember one existing
There are several you are welcome to read over.
Namely Baudshaw's as well as the ones pinned in the channel. ✅
Link to Baud's docs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit?usp=sharing
I was looking for the ones in pinned but for some reason I couldn't find them 😭
Thank you for the link!
(Was working on gathering the links to lore docs)
When I accidently sent it, the bot deleted it without warning (as per frustratingly usual)
That is very discouraging but alas...
Those who would like to find lore docs, feel free to ask, or best look them up for yourself.
A simple way to do this is go into the search bar and try some key words (you would figure out which ones work as you go and depending on what you are looking for).
For example, when looking for lore docs, this would help you with the search.
**in: lore-discussion-spoilers lore doc has:link **
The "has:link" part just guarantees links would be in the results (but I noticed the "lore doc" keyword may lead to missing some of the original links users posted without the keyword in their message.
after 4 years still no (canon) answer
Does this formula work?
water momentum + pollution = hurt skykids
that could work, but there isn’t enough proof
Maybe it’s a chemistry thing, like acid rain?
Calling people who actually know how to do stochiometry and.. that kind of stuff
Even I’m not crazy enough to do Sky chemistry, and I did Sky physics
that's not what stoich is about
Baud has, and shall go down as a legend in lore chat history for being a madlad.
Maybe the reason why the rain hurts us but not clouds is because microscopic pollution/darkness particles stay at a higher elevation than we can access, and the clouds condensing into rain causes those particles to be pulled down with it. (Sort of like how rain water can be polluted in real life)
rain droplets have a much easier time forming if there are other particles in the air, as water really likes to stick to things other than itself. I found this really great image of how this works online. (Just imagine the dust/smoke particles as darkness particles)
Darkness in the rain as an allusion to acid rain
What we know of the hidden forest is the devs intended for the realm to represent adolesence (teenhood).
The rain sets a moody tone that leaves skykids lost, grounded and uncomfortable as the cold rain drizzles onto their capes.
How we know these things in the game itself is the stereotype symbology of rain as well as some ingame testing.
When your skykid is left in the rain long enough (regardless of them losing their light), they eventually start to shiver on their own. This shows that our skykids are not only a living creature that has needs, but they would on occasion act instinctively to a situation without the input of the player.
The shivering is also observed by the ancestors who huddle for warmth at a fire, to which the skykid learns the shiver emote.
The rain and blueish tone of the realm sets a melancholic mood in this realm. Similar to growing up, people would go through times where they feel down, or lost.
We can see in the concept art of the game there were once plans for the realm to have mist and a maze. These elements would strengthen the feeling of being lost. I could only assume the reason why we dont have true mist in the game is it would be difficult for new players to navigate (mind you, it is not the first time the devs have changed the game to make it easier for new players at the cost of adding challenge to the game). The devs could have decided against a maze due to time, limits the the game at the time, or even considered saving it for a future update (hopefully).
Despite all that said, this still leaves the question about the rain up to debate.
My best guess is this is a game play element the devs wanted to implement in the realm specifically.
To introduce the players to environmental hazards they cannot avoid until they progress far enough to overcome them, or to avoid them.
While the rain is hazardous, the water itself is not. My take is it may have been an oversight, or plot hole.
As in, the rain is meant to be a hazard for a reason I am unsure of, but it was not meant to include the water as well.
Had the water also be hazardous, the realm would have been much more difficult to complete, or very different.
As for why the water is safe when you dive underwater. It is likely so because the devs set up areas the game knows would hurt skykids and other places are marked as safe (ex. under a structure).
When these areas were mapped out, the space in deep water was not included because they were not considered back then.
when the swimming mechanic was added much later, the areas under the water were left out and thus safe (although you can still drown lol).
Rambling a bit here.
Too bad we dont have a second whale bone skeleton somewhere out of the rain to compare in the Forest realm.
That and when looking to other skeletons in Sky, the results are a bit inconclusive.
The ones in the wasteland may have dark plants near them, but not on them. More so for the ones in the windy wastes in the little prince's well area, with no dark plants to be seen anywhere.
From a gameplay perspective, there are some questions being raised.
We know dark plants can be burned and the devs would strategically place them in areas skykids can seek out and burn for wax. While most are easy to get to, others are in places skykids need to navigate or fly up to. Some can be in places that poses a risk, such as the one in the graveyard that is being guarded by a krill.
The plant is therefore is akin to a chest or pot in gaming terms that the players need to find, destroy and be rewarded. Which in this case is wax.
This is a well established mechanic though I hope to see being explore more. They have added variety with dark clams, flowers, activities such as the performance music mini game, or even the black shards.
This mechanic though seemingly conditions skykids to act a certain way while rewarding them in a currency for cosmetics/spells/trading with friends or spirits.
TLDR: Burn this to get wax
From a lore perspective, dark plants seem to grow in places where either darkness is present to feed off, something happened that sparked darkness (negative energy such as a death of a light creature), or even in places not in direct sunlight.
This is not consistent since the game has dark plants grow in places that vary from in direct sunlight, in the shade, on skeletons, on living creatures (the sea turtle and the spirit manta from season of abyss), in dark plants and even on some man made structures.
This suggests that dark plants would feed of some form of energy. Whether it is the life energy of a creature, the remains of a dead creature, on darkness and even light (power diamonds).
Why you mak me read :(
because conveying information and ideas without voice or images requires text
sorry about that ^^
If it helps, you can use Discord's 'speak out loud' function.
I did ramble a bit much in this case. /s
Eyo, any thoughts on the unexpected guide visiting us at home? O.O
a bit more heads up would have been nice
Stares
Based off mopes mask I guess this does confirm the next passages are designed for each kid, which are (idk how else to word it but) the weaknesses(?) of each kid. Overachiver likes to rush through things, not waiting for others while with Reliance they’re made to learn it’s okay to take their time, to know they don’t have to collect every single thing
And I Guess assistance is also like that for mope, teaching them how to help
Also find it super cool each mask uses a different elemental light but I’m too tired to try and think of why each mask has which light
Wait maybe they are representations of each element similar to the statues in the season of prophecy trials?
Don’t stop believing!
Hold on to the Feeeeling!!
Street lights. people!
But anywho it could be what we are seeing is the at least somewhat representation of different God/elements the latest trial seems to represent water or something else since I’m not very good when it comes to the different names and it also seems to take some inspiration from Mesopotamian, or at least some sort of ancient civilization similar to that (I am a history, nerd 🤓)
Especially since one of these mask reminds me of the feathered serpent, Quetzalcóatl
I like how the game states the guide made the mask.
This leads me to wonder if the guide made these masks specially for each of their students.
Especially with moppy being the one to wear the giraffe mask.
And also, I found this sweet and wondered who else may have noticed this.
Moppy in the last quest did not like to interact with skykids. While the others would.
Some offered high fives or roll into you, but moppy refused to interact and walk away.
However, when you complete this quest, the spirit starts offering hugs ❤️
I did notice hacky sack boi is being less socialable. Which is my suspicion that they may be next in the quest.
Remember these quest all about helping these kids understand themselves and help them fit in
They were 'troubled teens' (more or less, I dont recall the exact wording off the top of my head).
Each memory presented each spirit's problems.
(the names are nicknames, mind you. Not canon names)
Moppy either had trouble interacting with friends (who were skykids), or were unmotivated to try.
Roly Poly either liked, or would tend to, cause trouble.
Hacky sack boi seemingly did not like to take part in a game that is not their favourite (or did not know how to apply themselves to a different game when they turned down the offer to join in by the memory skykids.
And pull up racer is competitive. Which is not an issue on its own, but may need to be managed well to ensure a healthy relationship with others.
And something’s interesting is that we don’t know the relationship between sky kids and spirits are they any different or are the trouble kids sky kids as well?
I believe spirit children are different from Skykids. Not only can they not fly using capes, but they are also bigger than most Skykids and function like adult spirits
Although they do act slightly childish probably do to a lack of understanding of the kingdom of sky
I mean, children in general do act like that
hmmm....
Interpreting this as you asking if there can be troubled skykids, I would say it is very much possible.
Just because the skykids we have right now in the game are us, the players.
And us being human beings, we all would have problems of our own to deal with.
We dont have to be characters in some massive drama reality show, but we can relate to the spirits who are going through their own troubles with our own.
Some players can actually help each other out with this, which is what I believe is the core of the game.
Us players connecting to each other.
(finishing off that thought)
I should head back there to confirm which spirit got the 2nd quest mask (mind you the first quest was to get all the kids to gather by the fire).
The 3rd quest mask, unless I am mistaken, was given to the Melancholy Mope spirit.
Which is interesting since the quest mentioned it being a passage of Reliance.
If I am not wrong with the spirit, this would be an interesting development for the storytelling in the game, as well with the spirit.
Being their introduction showed them being disassociated (lonely). Perhaps the message of this latest quest was to show the spirit that people do care and they can rely on friends to help them through problems before they 'spin out of control'. So to speak.
Something I’m interested in is how sky kids of the pass acted since it’s safe to say they probably did act differently than from the sky kids today since it’s implied that the Eden diamond being corrupted happened, at least somewhat recently
Blue represents water, usually, but I don’t know exactly why it’s used to move the masks around.
The only other light used was orange when the Passage Guide created fire lanterns
The problem is, how long ago have Skykids existed?
The most we can point to is the either winged lights, or the Skykids found in the PNR area of Eden.
It’s likely they had the same goal of us, and thus acted similarly, except they wouldn’t have other seasonal guides to help them
I wonder though if they were having trouble accepting skykids.
Or were they having trouble interacting with other ancestor children?
If we have skykids in a time where ancestors existed. I wonder what the skykids were there for?
Were they replacements to children? Were they meant to be taken to Eden for some reason?
What happened to the other ancestor children before the end of the ancestors?

True very possible but the farthest back I can go back is the ones at the top of the Eden diamond in the final memory (which the elders where probably trying to save)
In my opinion, Skykids were only created because the Ancestors died. Except for the first one, who was probably the only Skykid for their time
I believe that spirit children are much different from us, the sky children!
We and the ancestors are two different species. So let's say that the ancestors aka spirits located all over the kingdom are well, humans. There's a possibility that after megabird created the elders and the race they gained the ability to reproduce, and spirit children are just that. The children of ancestors, and then they just grow up to be the adult spirits we know.
The sky children came long after the destruction of the kingdom, and we are connected to the light creatures unlike the ancestors! I hope what I said makes some sort of sense!
Fair point.
While the memory 'skykids' looked and acted like us. They did not have capes.
While we all started out capeless at the start, we were blessed by the elders.
Wonder if that was the problem.
The skykids could not get their capes, because what if the elders were not there to give them blessings?
But then how were they able to reach the end of Eden?
Was that the reason why the gates needed to be sealed shut? Because the ancestors took skykids up there without the elders' blessings?
I also wanna add that the spirits we collect are basically memories of the kingdom, so spirit children probably just died young!
NO NO YOU GET IT, your explanation on overachiever is spot on,
I think the Quest name being Assistance is that they don't have to rely to theirself and remember that they have friends. we can tell VERYY introverted, from their relive cutscene to the quest cutscenes, it's like they're always sad and feel left out
I'm excited for the next two quests and how it will connect to oddball and Troublemaker
What is the reason why they didn’t have capes because they never collected any winged lights because they didn’t exist at the time
I think the order of events is:
-first Skykid comes into existence
-Does stuff and dies
-winged light appears after them
-the Eden Diamond starts exploding
-Skykids like us start appearing
And then somehow get ourselves stuck in a death loop
I mean you really only have to complete Eden once
Touché
Hi guys! I just wanna say I feel like the returning prophecy spirits scene looks like the fire prophets funeral
or it's a ritual to try and summon them
That implies they’re double dead then
We'll know if they return as a ts soon
Maybe the fire prophet lives in the fireplace and wanted to stay home XD
Oo yeah seeing it that way that definitely works! Seeing how we can collect masks faster if other players help us
I wonder for troublemaker it can be based off on how they can help(?) like in their memory when they accidentally knock the two kids over they’re a little bummed, cuz they didn’t mean to do that and all.
And for oddball I feel like it’ll be focused on on teamwork and stuff yet that’s all I can think of
For me the timeline is
- 6 lands with people living separately
- The first skykid was born, granted life by Megabird
- This skid is the first ever being to pass the trials, he then gets crowned King and unites the lands to create a kingdom
- 6 people are chosen by the King to govern over the 6 lands (aka elders in their realm)
- Every realm were connected to light creatures and nature
- King discovers dark stone that generates power from absorbing light
- King starts to get power hungry, exploiting the environment and light creatures
- Division of the population, one side for the creatures, one side for the economic development
- One day he had the idea of an ambitious project, a giant crystal made from smaller crystals compressed to each other, that crystal would surely revolutionize the kingdom's development
- But the crystal fractured and exploded
- All elders were pushed out and weakened extremely. With the King being the closest, they got blasted apart into winged light
- Fall of kingdom, all population dies
- Long while after, Megabird attempts to connect the light again in the form of skykids
Ikr, also why are they in the windpads, and not at the end of isle or smt (are we goint to ignore that discord was blocking the word 👖?:
they're not in the windpaths, they're on the top of the prophecy cave
Huh?!
it's where the access to the windpaths is, but the area the prophets are in is still part of the prophecy cave map
#sky-inflation
Ikr, also i got this

XD IKR (tumbling troublemaker)
If the orbit area is a memory of the first eruption, does that mean that orbit is one too?
Eden is a physical memory(?) but what about orbit
I'm saying Eden is a memory because it jumped space and time
Though maybe it was just that powerful-
Orbit may be considered to be a realm of its own.
Albeit one skykids can only access through Eden. And its 'elder' (megabird) is seemingly not present.
As a realm, it is by far the smallest. However, I would not consider it a part of Eden.
Eden is confusing
I've done 2 runs in 2 days(to run my friend) and the section of orbit where you fly is 100% a memory
That may be one way of seeing it.
Am not arguing against it.
Though would digress with interpreting the ascension as the game's way of faking out an ending to the game. Since it sends you back to the start as if everything you did, did not matter. But it did in a way because you are now stronger.
Almost like it sent the skykid back in time to where they first arrived. But the timeline is now different and the one you just completed does not exist/matter anymore.
I think... in a way it also matters, not because it changed the world, but because it changed you
like, when you did Eden for the first time (or maybe the second time if you were under the illusion you just didn't do well enough), you realize there's no end to the game, there's no way to 'defeat' Eden
instead, you land back in the sky kingdom, now with more spirits to discover.. and to help
and you (as in you, the Skykid) realize that there are other, maybe better, ways to 'save' and heal this world
by helping spirits ascend, building friendships, clearing away darkness, cleaning the oceans, etc.
there's no final evil to defeat, but a whole world to discover and to aid
huh, I did not think of it like that...
The game literally be like, "Maybe The Real Treasure was the Friends we made along the way," and, “Its the not the Destination, It's the journey.”
One thing I've noticed a repeating theme in not just sky but TGC games as a whole is that there's always a "dark climax" followed by an extremely hopeful ending
Journey, Flower and Sky all have endings involving a dark climax where the hero/es get destroyed/almost killed etc but come back as a stronger and more powerful form
Call it cliche, i think it's just a reminder that there's always hope.
True
For Journey, the game was based on the monomyth (the hero's journey). Where the climax would send the 'hero' in a downward spiral emotionally while fighting an uphill battle. Then when there seems not clear way for them to progress, there is a spark of hope that lets them ascend and soar.
For Sky, while it does not use the monomyth, it uses a different story telling format. The Collective Journey.
While the game may have had some influence from the previous game, the key difference lies in the message and type of Journey.
For the previous game, the players were able to connect with strangers. For Sky, you are able to connect with friends.
While the previous game relied on the empty and solitary nature to carry the story, where a companion is an optional layer to the experience. Sky explores on the companionship element more and is in more ways expressive and emotional, rather than philosophical.
Yep yep!
While on the topic.
I would love to explore how the Dark Dragons (krill) can be similar in role and behaviour with the War Machines (guardians).
Both are ominous, have long bodies with a single light for an eye, attacks light creatures on sight by charging into them, and are shown in murals with ancestors (albeit for the krill not as often and with the same interactions).
I don’t think it’s a realm, it’s more of a place far away from any other realm like Home
@balmy spoke
He goes down with the ship
Crab caller collects something and moves them to the mass grave site
Simple as
I didn't realize that the shipwreck were once a ship-
To add to this, you see people on life rafts go out to sea, you can see the life rafts in their current form, they didn't make it very far
Oh where? I think the map stops near the boat
On the side on the water where the saluting captain looks out too
I've been cr-ing there for years I didn't paid attention to these details
About 10ft away from the boat, may be under exaggerating a bit but you can follow the life raft in the memory up in a line
And the graveyard was submerged by polluted water too?
I haven't a clue about that bit
I'm just here to speak head stones
I'll look for the raft next time, thank you for the explanation
This reminds me to send feedback to TGC about the captian's memory not showing cutscenes properly.
The memory should show scenes with the captain staying behind while watching some ancestors leaving on smaller boats.
I noticed that, i think it's a bug, i couldn't see them again, i got worried i was telling in-factual information
while off topic I was wondering. How do skids eat
Their mouths
so then why do the skids burn grandma's food?
you are ok.
Generally, unless TGC says otherwise.
A feature, detail or piece of lore that used to be in the game may still apply to the lore discussion.
Although it is a good idea to keep tabs on the changes TGC make.
1 - Because not all changes are outright mentioned, or explained (I wish they do that though)
2 - They could have interesting theories attached to them (like the skykid statues that were inexplicably added and removed in Day).
Perhaps that is how granny’s food is meant to be eaten, given the “light mochi” is made of light and prob packaged in organic material. We burn it for the good stuff inside whereas other food like marshmallows and tea biscuits are just eaten as is. Otherwise skykids absorb light through the holes in their chest
I have a theory that Granny wanted to make a good dinner for the skids, but was told they don't eat normal food. "Then what do they eat?" "Well, they like wax." So she made us a dinner out of wax so we'd get to have the experience.
As much as it is nice.
Remember wax is a community term, not a cannon term.
Butter wax candles do exist though.
This is shattering place. Any lore found from the evidence or scene? Like those people must be sky kids or elders falling right?
New lore dump just appeared, we gum our food
t-toothless
absorb it through their bodies
They depict all of the Elders being thrown out by Eden. It contains many hidden lore facts but it basically hows the final turning point for the Ancestor society's demise.
if there is no teeth, then maybe no mouth as well
Mouths are in emotes, mouths exist

All i can see of them.
And judging by dev comment, emotes are made to reflect the game as we know it
Huh that's interesting, but it's weird because the ancestors and Aurora don't have any mouths
I have been so utterly transfixed by the implications of this for the last several minutes. Teeth are such a hilariously hyperspecific thing to ban
If skykids are made of clay or any other hardened material, the top and buttoms of their mouths could be hard enough to crush food to chew
Skykid beaks…….
Thinking about it, crabs are (presumably) solid
no way teeth would survive eating rock, definitely some crushing force required
Our back teeth crush food. They’re just made of calcium (bones)
Psa: the new lighting for the Prophecy ts makes the Prophecy cave paintings more vibrant and visible. Do what you will with that info

I was using wax as a casual way of saying light, sorry for the confusion.
or we use our eye sockets (sorry not sorry)
Has anyone sat down to figure out what animals the masks and noises for the Season of Passage are and whether or not they actually have some logical or pre-existing symbolism associated with the things the passages are named for?
Passage guide’s mask is often likened to a bear
Oh baudshaw of the lorechat, what is thy wisdom?
Emm hello I'm lina looking for my old friend name Khoi(coi) and Xi if you're both here I want to add you again cuz my old account is gone
Y’all know how tgc announced the yeti cape for feast, then we got yeti ts? I think it might be the same with the three prophecy spirits. With their praying position, and the fire mask above the camp, I believe they are summoning him, and he will be the next ts. Anyone got any theories?
source?
(as in, is there a link?)
it's definitely supposed to be a bear, tho that was more obvious with the first iteration of the mask
On masks of passage.
A wiki article on the second quest described the mask to be a serow (A japanese animal thatvis like a goat or deer)
"Serow"

#passage-sticker-challenge message
I mean it'll disappear when the channel closes so i got a picture
A mini-ramble.
The meaning for the word 'passage' mostly includes motion or moving.
Such as moving along a path.
Or even the passage of time.
Time in Sky is has not always been firectly shown, other than being inplied through the realms and this season.
With that connection established, there is either some ancient magic involved for the season to be able to move the time in Dawn backwards, or forwards to night.
That or it could be the devs implying that time does move in Sky. But for some reason not when the skykid is standing in the same place for a long time.
Eventhough there are events that take place at certain times (such as the sunset turtle event).
In other words, a plothole.
I think it’s just like the story and design. Nobody wants to run around a dark scary daylight realm 💀 it’s not fitting for sky to be that type of game yk..
the events that happen at specific times is ok but normal time if you stay at a specific place is ok to always be daytime
It would be hard to navigate in a dark realm and aren’t we children of the light? Not dark. Time obviously exists but it’s probably day all the time
Lowkey wondering if there could be a realm that follows a full day and night cycle.
And no, I am not counting Home.
Especially with the place being able to switch between day and night mode at any time.
Even though it is nice to see the game takes into account your device's time to match sunrise, midday, sunset, night even cloudy, or snowy weather. Interacting with the constellation and spirits changes the time, which makes the concept of time moving in Home redundant or unreliable in lore.
What it proves is that Sky can have different times, but is very much broken.
Almost like a dream.
It kind of gives the players independence. You can choose what “time” or “mood” you want in home.
It seems very flexibility to personal wishes and it’s controllable! I’m other games I’ll sometimes get annoyed by the darkness or whatever
i was admiring sunset at sanctuary few days ago and watching it got this me thinking :
24 hours in real life = 13 days in Sky?
altho we didnt get to see night time at sanctuary, the sunset happened every 2 hours, so im assumed that
just curious.
How are you able to get 13 days in Sky time to 24 hours in real life?
My impression of Sky time is it is about the same. (24 hours in earth time is also 24 hours in Sky time).
Can you ellaborate (tell more about it)?
if anything, it should be 12 days, since the sunset happens every 2 hours
but I think this should be considered a thing that's just gameplay
especially since we don't have a night or dawn following up the turtle event
if it happened just once per real human day, a lot of people would be missing out on that
I was thinking in our real life, sunset happened in the evening.
And only once a day (in normal circumstances, excluding those in north pole)
From that, I derived that circle of sanctuary sunset 🌇 appeared every 2 hours as the full circle of 24hours in Sky. It repeated for 13 times in our real life 24 hours from reset time till next reset.
Like I said earlier uhhh we didn't see the night time in sanctuary so I just based one day in Sky from sanctuary sunset.
If we use the weather in homespace, it doesn't represent Sky time / day. It represents our real life following the user's timezone.
Pardon me if my interpretation of the 13 days incorrect, I counted from the first sunset since reset till next day reset.
Of course, I'd understood if we use the reset time as 24hours in Sky. I just find that it's more appealing and understable for me if Sky maybe has different set of 24hours in comparison from our real life.
I see.
Interesting.
One thing for sure is time in Sky is either inconsistent, or broken.
Broken in terms that it may have behaved as expected in the past. But is now in a state where it either is seemi gly frozen in time, or stuck in a loop.
And inconsistent since there is no logical or natural science to how it can behave.
Either something is preventing the time to progress correctly (like a black hole).
Or the magic in the world is messing with time.
Whatcmakes this difficuilt to work with is how this festure is very likely set this a game mechanic.
Where anyone around the world can enjoy the game, while the game can still use time schedules.
Which in turn disrupts the time in Sky immensely.
Especially with let's say a sunset, that would have happened once a day. Is not made to happen every 2 hours to relfect potentially a real life sunset somewhere in the world.
At least this can strentghen the meta of the game being linked to reality.
(I should learn to make my messages shorter)
(or write a thesis)
I cannot stop thinking about this
plot twist skykids are basically just
You are so right, how did I not think of this before?
Ok ok idea what if the kingdom of sky went through a type of Industrial Revolution?
I think that the messed up time could be as a result of Eden messing things up.
I remember a series of posts that compared Eden to a black hole: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Black holes also distort time around them, so it could be an in-game reason for the sunset times. It would also explain why Eden looks different in each realm
I think it very clearly did, with technology transforming from simple boats to massive factories
True
Hey lorechat, what temperature do you think the Vault of Knowledge is?
Trust me this is important
Well, I would imagine it would get colder as it goes up. The bottom floor will have similar temperatures to Golden Wasteland, but the top floor will be like Eden.
Because of this, I’d say 55F for the bottom floor in 35F for the top floor
yeah that tracks
the vault is overall a very closed area with thick stone walls and no circulation
it's probably very chill in there if it's not artificially heated up
I imagine the top might have been warmer once, with the roof being heated up by the sun and whatever other light swirled around there
but with the Eye of Eden the way it is now, there's nothing to warm up
Soooo, the Vault is just a hot pocket?
The other way around, a refrigerator
..it's a hot pocket now
frozen hot pocket 👀
Vault of Frozen Hot Pockets
XD
Ok then do you think the sky kids are effected by temperature?
Like would they be hot or cold?
I mean we can walk barefoot in the mountain peaks and stand in fire and be just fine, only time we shiver is when we lose right from the rain the first time we enter forest
I think it’s more connected to our light would be the only time we feel cold
I would say a skykid is pretty warm. Not overly hot, unless they were asleep in a fire pit, lol.
Back when the Little Prince season was a thing, I'd imagine the Little Prince would have snuggled with skykids for warmth while laying in the cold desert at night.
A skykid can tell hot from cold because they can get cold in the rain.
I would think as long as their flame is sheltered and burn healthily, they probably would be fine in snowy weather.
However, with rain seeping into their clothes, they could be at risk of losing that flame.
Suppose when they are underwater though, they somehow find a way to protect the flame, but its temprorary since the flame would probably run out of air (hence the need to feed the flame with light energy, or have air.)
yeah I think Skykids don't really feel temperature as we do
rather, they feel the amount of light
they seem fine in the snow of the valley, but we see them shivering in Eye of Eden
Ah true.
The Little Prince was cold up there too. Being a human, we know the top of Eden is either very cold due to being so high up, the strong winds, or the storm (or all of the above tbh).
Eden is a terrible place to live in in this chaotic state.
but they shiver in Forest
Speaking of the eye I noticed that the sky kid looks visibly afraid and there stands is stuck in the fear and I also believe this is when the sky kid understands death and that they are not invulnerable
which is also very devoid of light
oh?
How so and where have you seen this happen?
For the most part, I have seen skykids stand idle and dont use thier usual stances.
After you get hit in the PNR spoilers by the way
||when you get hit and after you get up I noticed that the sky can you stuck in the scared stands I’m not sure why but I think this is one of the few times when this guy kid ask on their own accord outside of cut scenes (as a bonus night I noticed that the bottom of our cape gets ripped and has holes at the bottom I’m not sure if it’s a visual glitch or actual gameplay if it’s actual gameplay it makes a lot of sense if not, TGC take notes,)||
Eden Spoiler (personally, we should review the Eden Spoilers rule. Because this is lore, not #eden-spoilers )
||The tattered look of capes in Eden is not a glitch, that is intentional. This may be be a visual hint to the player that this place is very dangerous. Because their skykid's cape is tattered.|| || It may be nicer that this feature would carry over to all capes, since capes that are not based on the default cape design do not become as tattered. That and potentially be updated to show up after a skykid gets hit, and even become worse further into Eden.||
||I'll have a closer look at my skykid the next time I go to Eden. Perhaps there is more to this than the skykid hesitating after getting hit in Eden||
Server spoiler rules have changed. They now only include:
- Beta content is not allowed outside beta channels, even with spoiler tags. (This includes beta content that is not live or not meant to be accessible)
Yes, but not in the same way that humans do.
Skykids can survive immense cold and heat, but darkness is probably cold to them, which is why the rain hurts us. However, it doesn’t mean the realm is necessarily cold, only that it’s cold to Skykids.
ah ok. Glad to know and noted.
Noted but I think sky raider has a point the rain it’s self could be seeping into the sky kids body probably putting there inner flame at risk which could be the reason why the rain drains our light
why doesn't water do that then
I think it’s the combination of water and darkness that particularly harms the Skykids
yeah, I don't think the water part of the rain is the part to focus on
Rainy weather would dampen and even put out a fire. Not to mention making it harder to get one started.
It takes time, but can eventually snuff a flame.
Holy flame or not, rain is water, and water can put out fires.
Suppose a skykid would know how to prevent a fire from going out inside them. But they that does not mean they are waterproof.
It does.
Assuming you are refering to water in general, here is a break down of the thought process.
A skykid has a flame that they need to stay alive. Should it go out. They turn into stone.
That flame behaves like you would expect of most fires. It needs a source, or a vessel in this case (the skykid body), air and heat.
The heat part refers to wind and temperature. A flame in a cold environment has a harder time burning than one in a hot environment.
While a fire itself gives off heat, the temperature around it can have an effect. Especially on a flame as small as the one a skykid carries.
Swimming on the surface of water has not been an issue in the game. Assumingly because a skykid is not fully submerged, as well as for gameplay balance.
The devs still use water for hazards in the game, however with the addition of darkness.
Swimming underwater came later in the game, which is a telling detail on the dev's consideration of how water affects skykids. Since the rain has not been updated much throughout the game's existence, one can assume the dev's logic for the rain still applies that water can be a hazard to skykids.
But with the addition of diving in the game, the devs most likely had to think about how to make it work.
In short:
The rain hurting skykids is an older feature in the game that informs the players how water can be harmful to skykids. The devs may hypothetically not considered how this would work when diving was added much later in the game.
What the diving feature did teach us is that water can still be dangerous. But the damage is given slowly and the players learn to manage their light more in these areas, rather than avoiding them.
Water can hurt, but only if we let it.
The reason why swimming underwater can hurt us might be because fire needs oxygen to continue burning
||that might also be why the rain drains our light meter directly, while swimming underwater has it’s own meter||
that's also what I'm thinking
What if water and also darkness have similar make ups?
i thought it was because the rains in the forest were tainted by darkness
if so, then "water" and "dark water" would be indistinguishable, yet they're not. it's more plausible that being underwater causes nonmagical harm (lack of oxygen, light can't reach the depths) while darkness causes magical harm (aggressively takes light)
There is extremely lite rains in the final zone before valley that's so lite that it isn't a problem to us.
People shouted at me before for saying this, I'll stand by it still.
omg I forgot this place existed I have reading to do!!! soon I might join in on the theorizing..
You have some reading to do?
This place has over 1 million messages… good luck.
I’ve made a summary, though. https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit And the pinned messages have some other key parts.
thank you!! i will read through it
over a million? cant be that many.. ill read through them all one day!!!
Get ready for mouths, advanced physics, and reshtaurant weddings
and rain oh gods the rain
Hey welcome to the lore chat
Right about what?
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
From this discussion over if Sky is an MMORPG
Oh I mean that’s one theory crossed off the massive list
And that reminds me
QUESTION OF THE DAY
How do you think darkness spreads through the kingdom of Sky and can it corrupt light creatures?
I think it feeds off of light, I’ll have a more detailed darkness description later
It's been advertised as an MMO for a long time, and occasionally as an MMORPG
tho I think advertising it as an MMORPG is a bit misleading because that term/genre creates a different set of expectations (see WoW or FF14) that Sky doesn't quite cover
a term I prefer to describe it is "open world social indie adventure game" (from wikipedia)
So a OWSIAG?
Hey lorechat, I'm back
I saw the quote "Wake, Child, and remember..." in the Sky steampage and I was interested by the wordings of it, the "remember" in particular. My main question for this was "why use remember if the child has just been born/woken up?". I have a base for my thoughts on this and I'm still trying to figure out on how to properly word it, but I would like to see lorechat's interpretation of this quote
or, if you want a shorter description, personally I'd just call it a "social exploration game"
Then again, that’s a massive string of hard to define words. MMORPG works because so much people know about it, and even if it’s different, there are some aspects that are common to MMORPGs.
There’s no good description for it, but I think “Peaceful MMORPG” is as good as it could get.
And Sky is barely open world
it's more of a playground than a game where you influence the direction of the story with your decisions (as RPGs tend to be)
“Peaceful” until you reach Eden that is
They also say “return”, which makes me think although the Skykid’s body is new, the soul of light, which is everlasting, was reborn from another light creature into a Skykid
Peaceful in the sense of no PVP or direct combat
Touché
let's be real here the real combat of this game is currency and inflation /lh
the TS staring at you menacingly
TGC take notes
Because I watched the Last Of Us I can’t help but to see darkness as a type of fungi ESPECIALLY in plant form
Welcome to #lore-discussion-spoilers!
And the chaos with it
Maybe but even the krill’s look too small to be a whale maybe the King krill in the abyss is a possibility
Here’s the thing we don’t know how big they get we never see their full body and the whale (spoiler warning) ||at the end of Eden on our way to orbit seems to be big enough to fit the Krill king||
Fair enough
I’m still censoring because people who have not completed Eden could be here and I don’t want to spoil the ending
to be honest, #lore-discussion-spoilers makes it pretty clear that anything spoiler wise is free game
There’s no confirmed names, but there have been some debated:
Alef/Resh (elders in Sky used to have a Hebrew letter assigned to their name, and these were the ones)
King (easy enough)
Eden Elder/Chosen One (all based on pretty popular but not confirmed theories)
Storm (based on the realm the King is located)
None are confirmed, though
yeah they're more of fanon names than actual confirmed ones, Hebrew version from with ive seen is the most popular (even i use them for the elders)
there hasn't been yet 😔 we're all waitin
I’m looking forward to the lore possibilities
" This world was once so full of Light. With it, we built a Kingdom in the clouds. But darkness came, and the stars fell. Now we are trapped in these realms.
Wake, Child, and remember..."
OH IM EATING THIS UP
the remember part is VERY interesting as when you first start a new account i believe the game mentions you've "returned" or something
YEAH THAT'S WHY IM FROTHING THIS IS SO SPICY
the "remember" just. it has to just confirm that even as a moth, this isn't our first time in this world imho because
Yeah, my theory is that we were reincarnated from a light creature
Also @cold sparrow On Twitch, Sky is described as a “Puzzle RPG Adventure Game”, which is not good imo
yeaaah technically not incorrect I suppose, but that's not really covering what Sky is about
either that or an ancestor
It should be socialising game + dress up game + dating game (someone does date there) + adventure game, candle grinding game (joking) + solo game when your frds gone
'puzzle rpg'
That reminds me of a concept somewhere that suggested skykids would have used blocks of stone to move around to solve a puzzle.
social game = yes
Dress up game = Somewhat, so yes
Dating game = Even if so, perhaps not for the sake of avoiding awkward situations. Player couple who enjoy the game are still welcome, while other players can still do their own thing.
Adventure game = Agreed. Though hope for more of that in the game.
Candle Grinder = Absolutely! While not a true pay-to-win, per say. But certainly a pay-to-brag set up (sadly)
In my first language sky community, dating is very common
O.O
Also sky parents and families are very common so Idk
honestly, it would be interesting if there were more areas in Sky that needed some small amount of thinking for how to solve them
like the butterfly cave, the timed gate in the cave under the elevated clearing, or the 8-player door
preferably things that are easier to do with a partner, but can be done alone (like the timed gate) rather than things that require you to wait for hours in hopes that someone else shows up and just invites chibi glitching to circumvent them
TGC will have this as a suggestion later:
(Thanks rooty for this wonderful idea)
Players that would like to summon oreo can do this while waiting for 7 other strangers to stay in one place for 30 seconds (which is a very difficult thing to pull off unless you have the patience of a saint, or the influence of a king).
Players can go around to pick flowers. The skykid would hold them the whole time until either the skykids drops them and they disappear, or bring them to the orea shrine.
Bringing back 63 flowers would likely be a much easier task that not only other players can help with, but also can complete solo if they are willing to do it.
Either case, that would not only make the reward of Oreo not only worthwhile, but much more engaging than standing around for several minutes waiting for strangers to help, or beg friends to tag along for.
tgc putting lore anywhere except in the game itself
im rocking back and forth rn
Can someone tell me the story of the prince and the rose?
feel free to ping me abt this
.
u mean the little prince?
yea that
🚪
