If there is no home. We would not be able to canonise Traveling spirits.
No Merchant spirit. No days of events at home and no constellation lore for skykids.
That is one of the reasons of all time
i guess it would help to mention that I'm not as literal with some things
If you decanonize home you decanonize a lot of things too
such as?
^^^
abt the comment abive (the coment abive the coment abive thid oen)
Krill don’t have any armor/chains draped over them or anything, correct? Why do they make metallic sounds when they move?
Their body segments making contact seem to be making that noise and last I checked, they have nothing on them that should be making that sound. I feel like it should be more of a hard leathery noise? But it literally sounds like large pieces of iron instead? Except they can’t be made of metal because that’d imply they were created
Dragons can be known to have hard scaley bodies. If not a material that can be compared to metal.
I interpreted the sound being the legs clanking among themselves.
There are theories that go over them being artificial, armoured or even made of metal (be it a creation or its nature).
i mean nobody knows what they're made of
What would a manta feel like? My guess is smooth and cold like a seal
What is this???
I cant send the video
But its a mother with a child and the mother dies
This is Lorechat.
Help yourself to some beans.
We also have cucumber sandwiches and salt-n-pepper apple slices (inside jokes lol)
XD LOL tnks
oof.
It may be best to not send it. Because it does not sound good
(I suggest looking at the rules)
Ohhh oki, srry
you are ok ❤️
What brings you here, moth?
(apologies if my responses are a bit strict.)
But why the mother died??? I'm crying rigth now
I mean... woow... and the Aurora soundtrack
What they where running from?
You're talking about the first season quest with Runaway?
The one with the spirit helping a child and then the child is shown morning at a grave?
Yes
Ah, I see now.
As far as I would gather is the spirit was either very tired, or ill.
The child in turn may either be an ancestor child, or a skykid (I cannot recall which off the top of my head).
(If the video is of that, you are welcome to share it. Again, apologies for being a bit strict at the start)
Don't worry, thank you for the aclaration uwu
The announcement post might give a clue. It says:
Running Wayfarer
Here you stand with memories tossed by ocean waves, cut on stones along a path that promised a place to mend.
(In my opinion, this spirit had a rough voyage of the sea, and ran to the Isle temple to try to mend themselves
And here you stand with your offering: Memories of a heart that was wounded but never abandoned its longing for the light of a new horizon.
There are 4 theories about Running Wayfarer’s origin:
-
The stars. They were created by the stars like every other spirit, but the experience was rough.
-
Home, which would explain the unknown place directly south of Isle
-
Golden Wasteland, which could make sense given how horrific that place has become
-
Somewhere beyond, which is interesting but also unlikely
A story of loss and and grief, learning to move on and finding hope in a new future
They made the trip because they hoped that the child would be helped/safe there?
Aw, that sounds so sweet
(context: this is just me speculating)
Yeah..
omg i love this game
Thank you
Well, welcome aboard and hope you enjoy your stay.
The Skycord (Sky community Discord) is a fantastic place.
Channels that are active and of many kinds to suit your fancy.
Art, gaming, groups, lore, beta, not-beta, Eden, older game and so on.
It is also a good place to hear news about the game, and TGC events.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask 🙂
Does anyone else wonder what the Krill used to be before they became “dark dragons” ? I feel like they had to have been something else before they became those things
It is confirmed that they were corrupted.
Therefore, one can assume they were once called Light Dragons.
The name Krill is a nickname given to them by fans of the game. The devs use it in the game as well alongside Dark Dragons.
HMM another thing I noticed is that they sound- almost robotic when they are flying past you
Thats just me though who knows if that means anything lol, but I wonder what they looked like before the corruption because dang they look horrifying now
(Hoi Baudshaw. You are welcome to post your responses. I saw you typing and would love to hear your input)
It’s worth nothing that in the trailer to the Sky Animation Project (found in YouTube), there is a light creature with a beam device that’s reminiscent of the krill
The animation project is an interesting curiosity being made by TGC.
At first, when the switch trailer was released, people assumed it was a simple cinematic and little else.
However, we soon got evidence that this was part of a larger “animation project.”https://youtu.be/aBQRCHusYyU
After that, two teasers were shown:
There is a hint to when it could be releasing:
Vincent Diamante was the primary composer of Sky all the way from its beginning to early 2023, where he announced he was “taking a break from Sky”. We don’t know how long this will be, from a few months to indefinite.
We hear music that is like his style in the 2021 Switch Trailer, which can mean one of many things:
- There is a separate, secret composer that is impersonating Diamante’s music for the Switch Trailer (unlikely)
- Diamante himself will make the music to the animation project when he returns, which means that the animation project will not come for a long time
- Vincent Diamante composed all the music relating to the Animation Project before he left. This is the likeliest theory and implies that the Animation Project is coming soon.
sorry for the ping but i just got reminded of smth
so u know how this icon
is used to depict season of shattering
u know what else this looks like?
||when steven shattered jasper||
Something something diamonds I haven’t watched that show yet
THIS IS WHY I MARKED IT AS SPOILER AAAAAAAA-
sry
the show is called steven universe
Lol ye. (you are ok)
Would you alos say the hug in Eden would remind you of something else in Steven universe?
||Hint: When two halves become a whole||
ye fusion
I’ve felt an actual underwater ray and I’m trying to imagine what that would be like if it weren’t underwater. It was cold and slippery so I’m going off of that. I think you’re right on cold/smooth/like a seal
Lies. Sky Mantas would be warm.
Considering the crab call sounds nothing like a crab ingame, what could a krill call sound like?
The developers have said that they wouldn’t be adding it because of how scary it would sound
i thought they said it sounded annoying iirc
two things can be true
schrodinger's krill call
in a superposition of annoying and scary until you collapse the wave function
Guyss first of all here where i can discuss about theorys right?
Yaya
Sooo first, what is the meaning of eden? Is it the god that can change the world that has 1 eye or its about other mythology about that eden is the rebirth place? Or the two of them
Okay the god with one eye is called Odin, not Eden hm, anyway I kinds of feel as its God's realm like every realm has its own god, the vault is = the god of knowledge, the valley is = the gods of battle or war, etc but the eye of Eden is like god of chaos, and that when we die we transfer into where eden keep the wings in or the power in, & the wings in the world or realms r wings that run out of Eden prison, btw eden prison is the place where u end up after fallen lights quest or eye of Eden quest, anyway when u rebirth u can see a red candle at the end of the cutscene its like saying we will still begin rebirth till the last light in this world turn off
Im talking about mythologies the place where this game took there lore from or like taking some idea's from, most games did it
& u can notice about rebirth idea when u die in this game like in the forest, u turn grey and u can't do anything! Even light a candle but instead, u need another light source to light u, like players or any light source
I drew this drawing before, u guys can check a simple concept I'm thinking of about the rebirth and the loop of dying and that Eden will never be beaten but just begin refreshed or like the world will rebirth again every day and every week
If anyone has any reply pls ping me thanks.
The 'gods' of Sky is a bit different than mythological gods.
The elders rule over their respective realms. Each one is also represents an element.
The Dawn elder for example (nicknamed Daleth) is considered to be a ferryman, who is able to guide birds and boats.
The boats detail is a bit obscure as the game itself does not directly show this. The feature came from an older version of the game (light Awaits) where the old cutscene showed the elder raising boats for skykids to use. Despite this being changed, it seemingly still applies based on the boats parked outside of the temple.
Other deities in sky would be the Bird of Light, Megabird. A colossal being made of Light and supposedly is the giver of Light and in Sky.
The being is also characterised with Aurora's voice and singing in the season of Aurora. We know very little about this deity, and yet have a good amount of evidence for its existence throughout the history of the game.
There is also speculation on whether the King (the lost Eden Elder that is not present in the game) may be either a god themselves, or have a connection to Megabird. This is based on the few evidence we have on the King, and thier association with Dark stone Diamonds, as well as with the life cycle.
There is plenty to unpack in the lore, though hope this short dive into it helps.
Ooh, this is cool! Although it’s worth nothing that dying is not so much a loop, as you get stronger each time you go to Eden
The loop idea reminds me of a mobius strip.
You go in circles, and yet end up in different places.
A mobius stripe is a circle with a twist (literally). If you trace a line on one side of the paper, you realise that you have to go around the loop twice to reach the starting point instead of just once like a normal loop. Not to mention, the same line manages to cross over to the other side of the paper without breaking.
In terms of skykids upon being reborn for the first time. The game tells you, "the real Journey start here..."
Meaning, eventhough you complete all the realms, you have yet to complete the game in its entirety. And even for those who were in the game since the beginning, no skykids has truly found the end of the game.
As you reach the end, you are reborn and send back to the start.
Thus completing the loop and yet you return stronger than what you were the last time.
Imagine something like just walking aroudn in SkY
Here is old concept art that shows what I mean.
omg the skykids were gonna look like humans at one point?
ye, the devs did go over a few options before settling on the dark skinned look.
Note, skykids are not human.
Should anyone say otherwise, I would question their parenting on letting kids sit in fire. /j
why are you white
im rly, rly happy with how our little kids look now
i dont think i could imagine running around as a human kid
?????
Side note, I like how you can look at the ancestors and see so many different cultures as inspiration.
interesting how this looks similar to the characters from journey 👁️
Agreed.
Journey Skykid ❤️
these two also really caught my eye. especially ancestor/human hybrid
The ones on the left remind me of the forest spirits from Princess Mononoke.
OH MY GOSH YOU'RE RIGHT I KNEW THEY LOOKED FAMILIAR
eyo, Sky - Ghibli colab when? /j
no not /j i'd love to see that
little totoro cape
I adore that little Skid with the orange cape and the little upside down orange flower hat. A little fae up to mischief and merriment.
little soot spirits in the gw that are harmless
soot spirit?
these sillies throughout hidden forest
The forest chibis lol
heck i meant soot sprites, been a Long time since i watched totoro (and it's only half of it asidhad)
ah I see.
No worries, I was wondering what in Sky would be called soot spirits/sprites XD
maybe little dust bunnies in gw made of darkness particles coalesce into tiny little sooty creatures that tumble around harmlessly
idk asidhads
Come to think of it, it would be awesome if the devs were using Ghibli films as an influence in the game.
Which would explain why there is no obvious villian, if at all. And the focus on kindness and connecting with each other.
Almost like in Howl's moving castle, even with the most magically powerful wizards and witches in the land. It took a young hat maker and her determination to figuratively and literally end an entire war.
Or even Spirited away with the main character acting more like a visitor of a strange and yet exciting world. While the child did act as a hero in the story, it was not before the child was able to build up the courage to do so with the friends they made along the way.
It would be sweet to see small bunnies in Sky.
more small light animals would be amazing
bunnies, seahorses, starfish, foxes, ect,,
dark creatures are normally more solitary, so I could totally see light bnuuy
light wolves as well
I really love the full black galatic-ish concept from the first image, although I understand the customization would’ve been harder if they used that concept.
I also dig the ancestor child ones, creepy? Maybe, but I love creepy looks ngl hahaa
Another interesting one (mostly palette) is the blue-gray + light blue hair convo. It’s an unnatural skin color and gives this layer of otherworldly, like a ghost or something non-human.
I always love seeing concepts arts from such artistic games like these, they’re very interesting and inspiring to see. The whole creative process and brainstorm, as an artist myself :D
As how I understood the intentions of the devs. The skin colour is intentional for any player to enjoy the game. No matter where they are from, their ethnicity, or culture.
This creates a sense of universal culture, while it not looking to 'alien'.
Case and point would be the James Cameron Avatars as an example. While the Navi are fantastic, their blue skin makes it less relatable as human as a skin colour like that of Sky characters.
My skykid looks a bit creepy already too so ancestor concepts probably my favorites hehe
Ohh I see, that makes plenty sense. I think I’ve heard that statement somewhere but now it is refreshed again. I’d say they succeeded. I don’t imagine my skykid as a certain ethnicity, just a being that looks adorable. I think the emotes mechanic helps a lot with them being relatable
I like how the more you play, the more animated your skykid becomes.
As if they develop a personality as they make more memories.
A personal opinion I have on moth skykids are they like a blank canvas. They dont respond much, dont know much, but they are still resilient, innocent and willing to learn.
The devs have done very well with how much variety you can have with skykids, even though you start with a moth.
YOU ARE GAY.
Love wine
I started and thought
Wow this will be so boring I can fly only one time but now I love the game so many cosmetics and kind people I am not yet patient enough for moths yet they just don’t listen and always move around haha but I was like that too and all the different paths you can talk through realms I never thought I would know them all and where to go but now it’s just easy I know where every wl and candle and darkness is
The path a Skykid takes through the world is similar to a child’s path through unfamiliar places. At first they’ll have no idea what they’re doing, but eventually they’ll get the hang of it
A skykid's path is like a line in the sand.
You can never tell where it starts, nor know where it goes.
As the winds have already swept across, wiping the slate clean.
The only way you know where to go is by looking at the stars.
Knowing where you are is knowing where you were. And by knowing where you came from, you can tell where you are heading.
Skykid thought.
thinking abt eden elder
that is all
so uh i never noticed that in gw the krill lunges and nabs the baby manta until a friend pointed it out yesterday...whichever person at tgc suggested coding that in...why just why 😭
ig that means canonically krill eat mantas
I don’t have it on me, but one of the daily tips talked about how Krill are hungry for light, so yeah unfortunately that manta got nabbed 😔
they effectively traumatized me and their friend a new player by taking us there and showing us firsthand alkjdfsa
this is so true
yoink
I think the krill eating the manta is to represent to the player that krills are dangerous (and also most likely krills eating mantas is also canon)
They steal the mantas light.
Therefore, yes, sadly.
This was really beautiful to read.
This parallels a plot point in the game Journey. (Spoilers for Journey) ||there are man-made machines that are like giant serpentine dragons; their bodies are segmented into little cages, they have metal maws, and they have a bright glowing spotlight that acts as their vision. They were created to capture and transport the fabric light creatures that exist in the world. They were also used as war-machines to capture the light that belonged to other people when the light-based power source was scarce between societies/people. After the civilization disappeared, the metal monsters roam the land freely, consuming any and all light creatures they see.||
There appears to be many concepts and characters that were carried over to Sky from Journey. Having played Journey before Sky, seeing the similarities and parallels was incredible for me. 🥹
Agreed.
The two games are similar. However Sky has more themes than Journey.
That has the very practical tutorial purpose of showing the player that the krill are dangerous and to be avoided, all without words
Show, don't tell
And yes, the heart wrenching shock is part of the design
That's also supposed to show that things are getting a little darker and hostile from this point on
If they can krill us, why can’t they krill mantas?
And even if you fly up to the Krill to distract it and save the Manta, it'll just aggro on the Manta next time it makes a loop around. 😔
helo lorechat
today i read over the uranium skittle discussion and the court case regarding crab whisperer exploding the ark
that is all
the WHAT skittle discussion
the uranium skittle discussion
Salem is full of uranium real
@lusty merlin I vaguely remember having a dream about you last night. I think you got bonked over the head by Sah’s stick paddle thing?
It even had the bonk sound effect and your head getting smushed
happy teth thursday gaymers
I thought it was Tsadi Thursday
How about Teth and Tsadi Thursday? Best of both things! /ref
I know tsadi has Tuesday
Tsadi deserves two days of the week.
Is there a canon height for skids? like general height
smol
like how smol?
🤏
like el wiwi 6" smol or like 3' smol
I think 2-3'
omg smol :O
on average, anyways, and you can always change that if you want since it's never like. stated
im just asking because i plan on drawing my skiddos with my non sky oc whos like 6' :D they gonna be microscopic
I will say again all heights in this game are fan-made, based off of items in the Office area so it's kinda wibbly wobbly
putting a skykid in a purse like a little dog and carrying them around and giving them apple slices
I REMEMBER THE EXPLODING ARC COURT CASE
With salt and pepper?
feel free to look to Baudshaw.
The fellow is a madlad with math in Sky.
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
According to him, a standard skykid (before taking height changing spells) would be about 2 feet and 6 inches. While a max height is about 3 feet.
and mustard, perhaps?
i think its just salt and pepper idk
I was just trying to make the idea of salted and peppered apple slices worse
they have mgdonal appie slices
Thinking about how clothes are dyed in sky
Like I can definitely see them in the stage or using natural dyes, but also possibly using a technique called Batik; which is basically putting wax on clothing so that certain piece of dye won’t be colored, which could totally work in the sky verse
Also the masks in the animation project remind of me of chipped stone than clay, especially in the first one, looks like un-sanded stone. Maybe the brown masks would be made of clay yet also unsanded, but the first one definitely reminds me of stone
Just thinking
Maybe the masks were made from different minerals of clay.
Here is a real world example to demonstrate.
tbh that is really cool
Imagine what sky's beaches and sandy dunes would look like if the world was much bigger.
(serious note, this is more of a lore idea. I am not confident that the devs would consider adding different sand colours).
Hi guys! I’ve been thinking… is it possible for Sky and Journey to be connected? I have a character I made with the Journey pack cosmetics and I’ve been making lore about him. I’ve been calling him “The Ancestor” because for a while I had a headcannon that the games are connected- that the travelers might’ve been either a predecessor to the modern people of sky or have been long dead before they came around. But now that I think about it, the world of Journey was pretty lifeless and there’s not much to link the two worlds except the plot beats, some of the technology and how the enemies act similar. I might change my character’s name to “Traveler” instead.
canonically, most likely not
there's little to confirm this, aside from it being two games made by the same dev and playing with similar themes
but if that's something you'd like to imagine for your character or just to theorize, there's nothing stopping you
Sadly no, Jenova Chen who directed both sky and journey in an IGN interview (this one: https://youtu.be/4zJdF0z2ppU)
Said: “Like Journey is a finished product. There's nothing more I want to add to it. Where Sky is ongoing game you know.”
So the games aren’t connected but like what rooty said, there’s nothing stopping you for connecting them if you want to
Yea, I thought as much! I think I may headcanon that they take place in the same universe, but just from different worlds. They both have strong connections with rebirth from the stars, so perhaps a traveler strayed from their path?
Do whatever you want, headcannon has no limits🎉
(Original message got nuked. rip. Will post without source links)
Q: Would Sky and Journey be in the same universe?
A: No. TGC has explained that Sky is an spiritual successor of Journey.
Source: IGN interview
Meaning: The games may be similar in theme and style. Because they were made by the same company and have similar ideas (a character journeying to the top of a mountain, in a world with a fallen civilisation that had powerful technology)
A notable difference between the two games would be the storytelling.
Journey followed the Hero's Journey (the monomyth), which is philosophically driven and emotionally impactful. While Sky is emotionally driven and uses the Collective Storytelling.
Collective Journey source: medium.com - transformative media: from the hero's journey to our collective journey
And emotional story telling source: YouTube video by GDC
All of that said, what about in fanon?
Yes and no. It is absolutely up to you on how you want to tell the story of Sky.
That was super informative, thank you!
noice, found a dev qoute (actual lore bean)
Ash: Sky is a spiritual successor to Journey!
#general-sky-discussion message
Ktjn too: Sky is a spiritual successor to Journey, but that doesn't mean it's beholden to the story told in Journey.

key word being spiritual
hello guys
random question
the diamond guide thing in season of shattering, is it sentient? are there spirits that make up it?
unknown
Based on all other interactions with past season spirits. There is a 99% chance the guide is sentient. Since it is able to interact with skykids and show memories.
The bigger question is, what happened to them?
They are broken. The pieces have been flung across the kingdoms of Sky and yet us skykids were never able to fulfill the wish of that ancestor guide, other than learning about the memories of a past we were never part of and yet have a strong connection to them (through our ability to cleanse the darkness from the shards)
While we may not have learned who or what the spirits in that season were. We know 4 fragments/lights represented different creatures (jellyfish, manta, dark plant and krill), while the guide is likely the Eden Crystal itself.
That said, one can at the very least confirm there is one ancestor spirit in Eden. And they are trapped in the Crystal.
there needs to be another season in eden where we go and figure out who is in the crystal
BUT WE BETTER NOT BE FORCED TO DIE
I wager the season guide of Shattering was this poor soul
isnt that the prince? also ty for this
There are theories that suggest this could be the Sky prince (Alef), not to be confused for the Little Prince.
Other theories suggest this could be a piece of the King, our own skykid's other half, or the light piece of another skykid. Including more speculation.
Short answer: We do not know for sure.
sometimes i am confused bc a lot of ppl say its alef
but then, alef's height seems to be the same as a beginner/moth, or the typical height the player is at when they play sky for the very first time.
but then, if it truly is alef, why does that same light skykid trapped in a void have the same height our skykids do? its like when we become bigger or smaller, they respond in kind.
im personally in the camp of it being the prince, who is the same person as the king just before they got power hungry and caused the collapse. its one of those "dead person appears in a vision as their younger self before the Bad Time that killed them" kind of tropes
hmm. i think the prince and king could be two different people. but its hard to figure out whats true
True.
I tested it with spells.
Even if you change your height in there, the light kid matches that height (It's a bit unnerving, but ok)
That is a good point you raised there.
iirc they only show the prince in murals when him and the elders are rising to power/gaining the colored lights from prophecy, and then you stop seeing the prince in murals that depict later eras once the elders and king are at the height of their power
ive never seen the prince and the king in the same room together so they must be the same guy! lol
Strangely enough. As far as I have known the game, the Sky prince was never shown in the game itself.
It could have been hinted around to be symbolic, or something. But there is a very small chance of the Prince shown in the game.
Virtually the only bit of evidence I have found is the similarity of the light kid saving our skykid (with a hug and giving us light), and the concept art.
i thought it was generally accepted that the gold figure in the prophecy murals ended up being the prince? since he ascends the mountain to build the palace and everything revolves around him
Is there any official explanation about what disaster happened to the Golden Wastelands or do we just have player speculation ? Is it just a part of the Sky world that the Red Shard memory disaster hit the worst ?
i also think so
You are not completely wrong.
That is why I say some theories this and that. Unless there is evidence to say otherwise (or I neglect to know something).
On the figure in prophecy cave. Some say it is a skykid, other say it is a winged light/star, others say it is the prince, or the young king, or the chosen one.
This has been revisited and updated as the season came and went, mind you. Hence the theories changing and adding into itself.
It is possible it could be a skykid when looking at the performance stage notes and passage memories.
But despite that, the theory is still up for speculation.
Canonically, there was a war. We know ancestors fought in it and there were many loses (including mantas)
It is certainly a realm that was hit the worst in terms of destruction and pollution, after Eden.
The thing about The Prince is that he is green. Very very green. And since they apparently have a way to show green in that diagram, if that figure was the Prince I think they'd have shown him in green.
i really hope we see something on the war in the sky animation
The Little Prince is a character from a different story (not native to Sky). As a part of the collab, the Little Prince can be seen as a guest visiting Sky, instead of a character that was vital to the history of the Kingdoms.
Compared the Little Prince, the sky Prince (Alef) was possibly just as small, just as determined, but also possibly faced death.
However, this is a hypothesis (headcanon).
What is important though is the Little Prince is most likely, if not absolutely, not the Sky Prince.
(If it turns out I am wrong, I'll take back these words and eat them on a plate with salt and pepper lemon slices.)
it's never stated who this figure is, but yes that is the most common thought
i don't know if i would say everything revolves around them, though
I'm wondering about the blue lights crashing down into GW from aurora's song
some kind of weaponized light/magic? im assuming if they can make flying boats they can make long range projectiles
That would be awesome ngl
Yeah, Sky has always reminded me of Studio Ghibli somehow. But I think this is just because they come from the same basic ideas of Japanese animation.
It is very likely TGC has taken inspiration/influence from Ghibli films.
Where are these images from 👀
Switch trailer
Thank you!
flies in here and hits a wall I feel like since the headcanon of a buff moth is a thing, I would like to add onto that: Whatever a Skykid is made of, they can add to themselves by just applying it to their body
Make sure to season them well
According to wonderful calculations by Tebkanlo, the height of a chibi is 2 foot 3(0.7 meters), while the default height is 3 foot 2 (0.95 meters)
My own calculations compared to the Skykids to Aurora, and got a very rough estimate that’s about 2-3 inches.
Although it’s certainly possible to reach 6 inches in game using height spells and stuff
I have a theory that they are, in a similar way to the Rose from the Season of the Little Prince
If they can make height changing spells, they better add width changing spells
Hi!! Small lore question, but has the Winged Light in the last memory of Shattering ||always been two kids hugging||?
Yes, I do not think it has ever been changed as far as we know
Wow, I had never realized, haha
I did see a hugging statue in Eden last time I went, but I didn't know WL could come like that
That is one of the view (if not the only) that is different
Also worth noting that the gesture matches the hug we do with the white skykid after Eye of Eden
Took a good picture of it for evidence
this is the first and only time WL can hug. Notably, it gives you 1 WL instead of the expected 2
it reminds me of how we only give 1 wl to the hugging statues in eden
hey lore chat, opinions on butterflies being used as living batteries?
pushing the chemistry nerd part of me back into its box, I can't imagine they'd last terribly long
i mean, they can power an average skykid from 0 to 20 in 10 seconds. so imagine them sealed in a lantern or one of those floating boats.
INFINITE POWER (until they die of course)
Given how much they were traded in the Forest Entry Mural, it's probably likely that butterflies were used as power sources (probably food?) for a while
which mural is that again
Nah, mantas and manatees were DEFINITELY food sources
I might need to sleep but where are the butterflies in that mural
I don’t see them either 😭
Butterflies are usually seen in pots throughout the game, so while they’re not directly seen, one could theorize that’s what the pots were delivering, or it could just be pottery trade <3
i think butterflies couldve been used for smaller things in terms of power when light creatures were first used, before the more larger ammount of light from bigger creatures was utilized (see abyss), i personally dont think mantas were used as food since we see them more for racing, pets, and later on energy, i think that was moreso fish (angler) and agriculture (farmer), but its possible!
i wonder if with the horse comparisons, “im so hungry i could eat a manta” was a saying
how hungry
angler and farmer my beloveds
Adding on to the pot trade theory.
Recalling the memory of the laughing spirit, the ancestors also collected light orbs. Which they would catch with staffs.
These orbs would seemingly be stored in jars much like the jars we see stored in Day elder's (Ayin) temple. While those jars were storing butterflies, it is possible they can hold other things.
We can therefore add the light orbs on to that list of things we theorise the ancestors used to power the dark stone diamonds.
That and consider if other spirits may have also been in the light gathering trade.
Looking at the Hermit who has staffs stored in the cave (if I am not mistaken).
i think the hermit has axes? and then like, a flag
there's a lot of pots along one of the walls but i don't recall there being anything besides that
Thinking about the forest temple door carvings....
2 boats arrive with vases. They pour the light in the vases into the temple. While 2 parts of trees are chopped down by ancestors and added to the forging of a power diamond.
What would the trees hold? Would it refer to mining the ground (dark stone). Or was it particularly the trees?
More on the vases.
They came from day by boat. The boats are seen traveling by the day temple from the waving spirit. We also know the laughing spirit showed us skykids how the ancestors gathered light.
Some of these vases were supposedly taken inside the cave (possibly storage until more boats come by?).
This came from the tired spirit that was moving the jars.
We know these jars can hold butterflies from the Day elder's cutscene. As well as in the forest cave where we burn the cover off some jars to release butterflies.
We also know these vases can come in different shapes and sizes.
From simple looking clay/stone box jars, golden diamond shaped jars, to even a variety of sizes and shapes of the clay/stone jars.
Wonder what other uses these jars had?
Were they sent to other temple/factories? What other things could they have powered?
Also, in the Isle Temple and other places, we see dark stone powered by a tiny white orb, which is probably the exact same orb you’re talking about
I think that Ancestors don’t “eat” like humans do. They needed light to survive, so they used light creatures for sustenance, “absorbing” butterflies, fish, and candle wax.
If Granny's meals were the same meals server to ancestors. We can assume they cooked.
Season of remembrance also showed ancestors drinking. Be it tea, coffee or even just boiled water.
That and days of blossom gave us a tea set and picnic set.
While ancestors could have ate food. Their diet would surely be different than a typical human's. Mostly because of the world they live in.
Looking at the hermit peak as I type this, there are 2 staffs.
The hang on the opposite wall of the banner/flag and axes.
I think the hermit was a light catcher, just like the laughing light catcher from Day.
Suppose the spirit could have had better luck catching light on a mountain than in the prairie.
That may explain why there were boats traveling all the way up there.
Aside from the convenience the boats gave to reach the top of the mountain, and access to the top to slide back down (possibly being a practice area for would be sliding racers.
The hermit could have had more than one carreer in their past life. (in theory)
A sliding coach, a tree chopper/lumberer (based on the axes), a warrior (again, axes), and light catcher.
(Apologies for the Ping, Fluffy)
Hermit was probably pretty self sufficient up there being, yknow, a hermit? so the stuff in their house could be what they used to run their little homestead!
If they’re a Hermit, then why do they go down to the Dreams Village so often? Isn’t the point of being a hermit to isolate yourself from society?
it is a mystery
postman is there <3

I wonder...
Dictionary definition of a Hermit:
a person living in solitude as a religious discipline.
The hermit may have lived up there for a long time. But possibly decided to be more social as a spirit (that or recently chose to come out of their cave, or even lurk about the village while still being a hermit)
Note the full name is Bearhug Hermit.
The name can be seen as an oxymoron with a hug being a sociable action (usually with family or close friends) and hermit being a recluse (meaning to be apart and socially inactive).
Food run, catching mail, people watching ¯_(ツ)_/¯
see also: saving a child from falling and breaking several bones
I wonder though what the young skater was trying to do up there.
we get silly
children are, by and large, well known for doing stupid and or dangerous things
Imagining Hermit acting as those inflatable mattresses people can fall onto in case of emergencies.
Moth: Sees a big snow pile
Moth: excited and jumps on it
The snow pile falls apart and reveals a sleepy hermit.
Moth: [Confused honk]
I feel aluded….. but yes (sry for ping 7m7)
im an adult and i do stupid and or dangerous things /hj
Somthing I wish would happen is if TGC would confirm one of our theories
or at least answer if the crossover seasons are canon
Agreed.
Suppose they either have to fess up at some point. Or continue to drop pieces of the lore in the seasons. Or both
As for the crossovers.
We can theorise on parts of the season to be possibly canon (its better than nothing). While figuring out what other parts are from the collaborator.
For example, Aurora herself may not be canon, while we can see her as a guest or story teller.
What she represented is more likely to be canon than what she is (an insert character of a human singer).
I Want More Elder Lore
My ongoing theory is that she is a embodiment of our light and acts as a guide and warned us of the pass and not to make the same mistakes
Also agreed more elder lore would be useful and so we don’t have just theory’s to go off of and 20 seconds of screen time
The little prince on the other hand could just be our imagination making a friend on our journey and to keep us company
For Postman of course
When waiting for something to happen in lorechat.

Alright.
If TGC were to use their older games as inspiration for Sky. What would the other games have to offer to the lore?
We have entertained Journey a few times in here. But how about Flower?
Following up with this:
Would the theme in Flow also have some connections?
The game is understandably much simpler than journey and sky, but it does have its similarities.
It has blue, yellow, red, white and black as its colours.
It used orbs to represent how strong a creature is. The more orbs they have, the bigger/stronger they are.
Killing creatures sends you deeper into the darkness, while you can always go upwards into the golden light.
I'd like to think these orbs are similar to the stars/winged light in Sky. And the looping feature in the game and you being able to play different creatures in every cycle are similar to Sky. Albeit from a different perspective than that of a skykid.
Because skykids do not truly change into other creatures in different cycles. And cannot kill creatures.

el problemo pea-eater?
hi so uh. i’m working on a writing project that is definitely more serious and in depth than certain other things i have done, mostly because i have too many headcanons about it to not write them down. thing is, some of those headcanons are heavily inspired by other people’s ideas, and i’m just wondering how i should go about giving credit where credit is due. like i don’t reference events that happened in any specific works besides canon, but there are major concepts that i definitely did not come up with myself and i just like them
also there are other things where it’s like, i did come to that conclusion myself, but i was definitely not the first and i don’t want to give the impression that i’m ripping anyone off? idk people who write things how do you guys handle stuff like this
If you have a work cited I’d just put the names on whoever your taking inspo from, or atleast make it clear on what was inspired and such
But also just talk to whoever your writing this assignment for to see what needs to be done, and what you need to do. And just go from there
Depending on if this would be posted somewhere publicly or is an academic assignment. You can take note of the people you have read their theories.
You dont have to give sources like an academic thesis (unless it is like that).
You are correct on the part where if you figure out a part of the lore, and then find out someone has done so in the past as well.
For what it is worth, you can write down your method on how you got to your point and mention that folks on the lore chat has done gotten to the same idea as well. This not only pays respect to people on the lorechat, but strengthens your theory as well.
If you know the person who you got the idea from specifically, then add their name to the notes.
You can perhaps look up keywords incase someone else has got the idea before, if need be.
Wait omg I read that completely wrong I thought you were writing an essay for school or somthing 💀
Lol this isn’t an assignment, it’s just something I’m doing bc brain rot and so there isn’t like a formal works cited thing
Ah yeah then just add the names to a refrence sheet according on what things you take inspiration from and all
Ah, then just metioning that you were in the lorechat and read the theories folks post here would do well.
And then mention if a piece of lore was either your own (or you worked your way to the same idea), or if you have seen someone else come to the same idea you did. Or give credit for adding someone else's theory/research to your writing.
if borrowing from Discord users, be sure to include their four number userID. but, as I mentioned, you're borrowing ideas, so technically you don't have to give credit because mere ideas aren't IP but credit would be nice
Ya unless your like copy pasting then credit would definitely be nice, but we don’t own ideas/theories
thanks that helps a lot !! also im just Extremely nervous about putting anything out there and i dont want to rub anyone the wrong way
while some writers are protective of their ideas, it's not necessarily the ideas that are protected property but rather the execution. if you wanna take a concept and run wild on it, it'll still be very much yours
i want to treat peoples faves and their ideas about them well even if i am ruining their lives hehe
But Am I Executing it Well Enough is my concern
Plagiarism is a terrible thing.
Stealing someone else's ideas is a shameful action. (IP - Intellectual property is something a person can copyright)
Giving credit to the person you got an idea from is common curtesy from one creator to another.
That, and is a good practice for writers and artists.
In regards to posting theories about a video game on a public forum. There is not much there to protect a person's IP (their theories and ideas).
Even while liv is doing this casually, I am very sure people would appreciate and love to be given credit for the work they did to make their theories. Even if it is just a mention.
you won't know until you do it
i’m like playing chicken in the replies bahahah
see the thing is, i’m not sure if i feel encouraged or scared by that. probably both
The just is, do or don't. As long as you have fun with writing lore theories.
You can either credit the people for the the theories you want to use, or dont.
Some folks dont mind, other do.
Which means it is neither here or there.
What is clear is, you are perfectly valid to write theories.
or maybe i’ll work up to it with another concept that i have that feels a little more original
You can do it.
it might be good to get a feel for the writing part
for example, I came up with the idea of Sunset stabbing Dusk over a conflict – I mentioned it briefly in We Are One & I Am Two as a thing that happened but never elaborated on why or the consequences of such. I can't say I was the first with the idea, but I had not seen it elsewhere up until then.
since I've seen a number of takes rooted in the Sunset stabbing Dusk incident but with all their original spins on it. could I ask for credit? sure, but I don't believe with how those concepts have developed, that it would be warranted because that one idea was a seed to their own that is vastly different than my first concept.
you've might've heard this maxim before, but there really are no "original ideas." every idea is rooted, to some extent, to someone else's idea. think of all those stories that are basically retellings or reworks of fairytales that existed for centuries – if not, Disney wouldn't be so big. I have a lot of WIPs that began as fanfics. we take inspiration from every piece of media we consume or an event we experienced. again, it depends on the execution that makes something good or original, not the source idea.
funny you should mention that
:3
Hello
I mean, heck, even the devs admitted that Sky took inspiration from The Little Prince, even the spirits of Season of the Little Prince can be traced one-to-one to the adults in the book. also Sky is noted as "spiritual successor" to Journey and you can make many connections to between Sky and Journey's plot and characters. but they're executed differently, like original takes on the same concept
I actually have a few stories rooted in the "protagonist shows up clueless in a new place and is taken in by one of the locals" but they're so different I didn't even realize that was their foundation
alasdair can i pm you actually -
sure
Thanks to Tio from Light my Candol (that is how it was spelled)
We now have these things in the second quest. (Spoilered because the quest did not start yet as of writing this. But TGC was the one who posted it early, so....
)
What are they?
Would it be too soon to talk about them?
appears They look like a kind of spirit of a creature wearing a mask or mask-like object. I am not sure exactly what they are, but I know that these look similar to some myths from around the world of spirit animals, and even some with masks for faces
Btw @ta i saw what you did -<- (not related #sky-fanart-sketches-and-art-chat message

Here’s a question: Why does Valley have two races? And why is it the only way to get to the Stadium?
I mean, it's not
you can get to the stadium via the gondolas from Village of Dreams
(and presumably, some other ways that aren't accessible to us because of limitations of game design and resources)
two of them
That is interesting.
I suppose it has to do with the twin theme that pops up everywhere in the realm.
There is technically 2 ways. 1 is the races that have lead to the same gate. And the other is the Dream village.
There is a lot of examples of the twin theme in Valley.
ever notice how like half the spirits in valley look like they could be twins -
exceptionally high rates of twins and divorce
Great now i have this ned to make a genealogic tree of valey… ph no…. NOOOO GETS draged by procreate and valley spirits
so have you heard of the elders resemble their realms and vice versa theory
not in those terms but i have noticed it
how some spirit always has like a version of either their hair or mask or something
that's definitely part of it
maybe they r just fashion icons
One for each twin I guess, I assume the sliding one would be
’s and the flying one be
, but until we get a statue of them I don’t know for sure
I think there were a lot of elevated roads that are gone. We see ruined and broken bits of these.
and like aqueducts and stuff?
I mean make sense they could be a really good work out.
symbolically there's prob two for the two Elder(s). another plausible option is that there are more races but they're currently inaccessible due to destruction or cloud cover

SWIMMING RACE WHEN
oh gods the jank
I mean how often is sliding used outside of the sliding race

YES THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABT !!!!
SO TRUE!!! i love your name btw
hi salem
Hi Vanya!
Season of Remembrance Spirit Cards
Season of Passage Spirit Cards
originally was gonna stop tracking official stuff come 2023 but erm im still not normal abt sky and its lore so oops!
i still want to hold pleading child so protectively
i've got an itch for lore so i've put my switch language as japanese and i'm gonna go through all available season quests on my alt (except abyss bc i did that already for earlier lore mining) and take caps of dialogue boxes.
i've gotten a good chunk of screenshots already.
you might wonder why i'm doing this. lore mining ofc. but namely, i'm interested in why the isle tutorial refers to your character as 星の子 (star child) and the larger lore implications wrt the ushering stargazer spirit
We ask everyone to please post only in English on this server, @remote skiff. Unfortunately, moderators and staff aren't able to support all the languages spoken by our global Sky family.
skybot has no sense for nuance. i guess i'll have to post my findings as images and not just transcribe it
i love that
I am somewhat distracted so apologies if this reply isn’t a super in depth response, but ‘star child’ could be referring to how — whenever we fall from Eden — we’re a shooting star that forms into a child as we hit the ground. Of course, that just goes to prove the larger implications with stargazers memory more.
I also know that instead of ‘star child’, in English in the newest intro we are referred to as Child, specifically capitalized like it’s special. I wanted to add that because I find it really interesting :3
I feel like the collector and the pleading child would be friends
that's literally been part of my working theory ever since i saw the 'star child' tidbit 😁
I think "light" and "stars" can be used interchangeably, given how connected they are
then they'd use the character for 'light', not 'star'
Anyways, realm names!! Not as poetic as the English translation, but interesting to note that Eden is still referred to as a "storm" (a la The Light Awaits). and hey, now we what wind speeds are too fast for sky kids to fly in
Yeah!! I should have specified in the original post but the shooting star thing is directly shown in game after we get reborn in Eden (if I’m interpreting what you mean correctly)!
yes! also take a closer look at that prophecy mural, you might see something 🌠
so at least 56 mph (90 km/hr) winds
Tilting my head curiously at you because I am very tired and even after reviewing the murals I cannot quite tell what you mean
the very first part where the golden kid is taken to the cave. it doesn't come into view at all during the camera scene (when lighting the sconce), but directly above the clouds over the isle setting is stars and ~~ a straight line~~ three lines that looks to me like action lines indicating a descent
i'll go there real quick and see if i can get a good pic for reference
OH YEAH THAT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY ITS NOT IN THE DOC! I remember those, I just couldn’t fit them well in the screenshot of the mural I needed. It’s very interesting to me that there’s three of them. I wonder if that’s just to emphasize the descent or if it’s meant to be three stars
i think it's just emphasis.
I was thinking so too! If there were other stars that fell at the same time and turned into people we’d probably see them.
I am aware that at least part of the disaster is referred to as ‘the stars falling’ with emphasis on that being plural, but although I don’t know for sure I get the feeling it’s distinct from this
yeah, there'd be a lot more golden children represented in murals throughout the kingdom if that was the case.
on the topic of stars, i just had a thought about the constellation glyphs in the prairie and forest. the subjects of three of them are immediately obvious: manta (village), bird (dp nest), and jellyfish (hf broken bridge)
but the one in the prairie cave elludes me...

wait no it's this. which looks just like the staff used by the laughing lightcatcher. so, it's a light-catching staff!
love being pinged for "qwe," very important /s
Sorry for the ping i forgot to turn it off :,v also it wqs a typo/distracting and if orgot to finish the message xd

I wanted to say: qwq i was going to do that, also
i cant tell if youre /serious or /satire
and its making me gigle bc i read it as "serious"
These two, what abt this two
they don't look alike
But
all base game Whisperers aside from Bird Whisperer look like that. ik it's been thought that they're monks, hence bald, simple appearance
/s stands for "sarcasm" so
thats what i assumed but some people use /s(atire) and /srs
please stop pinging me
am i the onlyone that its going to cry real hard when the season ends and the adolecent spirits ascend for never being seen again?
Why do darkness plants only grow in prairie, forest and wasteland?
Is there are particular lore reason for this?
darkness plants are found in every realm, though for the sunnier realms they are found in caves or buildings. it seems darkness plants cannot grow in direct sunlight for whatever reason
isle: darkness plants in tunnel under temple where rejecting voyager spirit can be found
prairie: villages, sanctuary island
forest: yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
valley: temple catacombs
wasteland: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
vault: nowhere but on translucent memory lanterns during remembrance quests
eden: nowhere!
i guess they can't grow at higher elevations? idk
there are darkness plants in Valley – in the catacombs on Sunset's temple
the fact that Eden doesn't have darkness plants is... something
I feel like the rocks would tear any to shreds, plus wind
that's fair, I've just come to associate both with darkness
yea, that's the one theory I've seen tossed around, that Eden's conditions are just too hostile, so windy with flying boulders, that any darkness plants can't grow
that would make sense, it's a little breezy up there
I could just imagine instead of a rock slide, it is a bunch of dark plants flying straight into you because of the wind
My own theory about darkness plants not growing in Eden is that they need a creature of light to grow on- the butterflies that are released and the trapped mantas in Forest. In my head there are also different types of darkness (the more fungus-like ones in the last area of Forest that block the entrances under the hill aren’t very common), so the hostility theory works for the darkness that doesn’t release butterflies. But yeah, basically there aren’t any light creatures in Eden so that’s what I’ve gone with
It would make sense that darkness would essentially trap light
I’ve been curious about this for a bit but haven’t gotten the chance to ask here: does anyone have ideas on what culture(s) could have inspired Passage’s cosmetics? Usually seasons have one or two cultural inspirations (often from very general regions) that relate back to the themes and backstories of the season in general and, despite doing some research, we haven’t been able to find Passage’s yet
Might have an idea but let me fact check myself to see if it could work
Tricky
The depicted animals - bear and raccoon - would imply something north american, but the rest of the aesthetic doesn't quite fit that of north american indigenous people as far as I can see
the clothes themselves, with all that fur and long thick mantles, indicate something in colder climate
perhaps Siberian?
the tusk earrings in particular seem more like something derived from africa, particularly the mursi people, but that could also just be artistic freedom
I’m still unsure about this but I do notice some similarities with Inuit and Yupik peoples, that was my first connection when I read Salems message.
Mainly see in their boots and their coats, some variants of their traditional clothing does have boots that are tied. And some coats do seem to have somthing resembling the fabric on the front for one of the passage pants.
Bone jewelry was also common with indigenous peoples and frankly was what early pieces of jewelry was made of, which is what I think mope’s earrings are made of too, still unsure on troublemakers earrings though
I’m sure there’s a lot of other places they could’ve take inspiration from but I can’t think of anything else. But yeah like rooty said a lot of it could just be artistic freedom and all
Thinking a little more the boots could’ve been coincidental as sky’s default shoes tend to always be lace up’s, so it’s possible that passage’s shoes could’ve just been done with that in mind
I'm thinking Siberia (these are people from the Baikal region in particular), for the tied waists and headbands in particular
I have to wonder if Troublemaker’s mask + outfit is based around either a raccoon dog instead of a raccoon, or a combination of them, because their tail resemble the color palette and to a lesser extent markings of raccoon dogs. Raccoon dogs are also present in Eastern Siberia which would support the above message
the original (and not very popular) wip design of the cape could have fit a raccoon dog
but the striped tail it has now, and the roll emote combined with it seems to be more in reference to raccoons
I don't think raccoon dogs quite roll and tumble like this beautiful gif
though this could also have been a design decision that might have been made during the development
TGC certainly isn't beholden to what animals exist where in real life, and might very well be combining inspirations from more than one location
That makes sense! They may have combined raccoon dogs and raccoons for the inspiration; since the original design was modified as it wasn’t very popular and raccoons tails are very visually distinct and the animals are known for being troublemakers, the decision might have been made to help visually communicate troublemaker’s personality
This is a really good observation too, the shapes are very reminiscent of the passage capes :3
Oo yaya can definitely see that!
It might be a mix of many cultures from cold climates, such as Ainu, Native Canadian, and Siberian
ok ok , listen this, i just noticed smt (damn i forgot the cooldown)
That means: “you finally return to this world, remember child” so, did we had already been here before this cutscene? Are we another skykid’s conciusness but the skykid instead of being reborn (same body same soul) choosed to be lke, the thing that its different body (wich would be why we r a moth) different soul (wich would be why we dont remember anything)
I have a theory that, since “all are born by starlight”, we were the light/souls of a light creature of some sorts before being a Skykid. So we don’t distinctly remember anything, but it’s still not the soul’s first time here. Very similar to the ideas of reincarnation in Buddhist and Hindu beliefs, where animals can (debatably) be reincarnated as humans and vice versa
also are we going to ignore the fact that ushering stargazer's memories imply that their last moments were when meeting an skykid?
not necessarily their last moments
other spirits' memories imply that what we see might be just some moments from their life, sometimes towards the end of their life, yes, but often just a very important moment from their life (and sometimes just a very ordinary one, a spirit frolicking through the caves or picking flowers in the butterfly fields)
It is debatable of if any memory of the ancestors were their last memories of them alive.
However, it is possible some memories could be of other times in their lives, while others could likely have been in times near their deaths.
Take the fainting warrior as an example, it seems very likely the poor ancestor has perished in that area. The same can be said for the cowering spirit (while the last part of the memory shows them not crushed. This could be either because the game did not want to show a death on screen for the player, or the spirit did not yet realise they have died and their body is in the rubble).
On last added example is the memory of the teabrewer, where the ancestor they were tending to passed away while they were out.
Other moments from spirits seemed to not be the case such as the memory of the manta racer from season of Aurora. Or the memories of the spirit from little prince.
That said about little prince. Either the Little Prince was talking to the ancestors spirits, which makes their memories of them in death. Or the Little Prince had seen them in life somehow. Which adds further confusion if the Little Prince was in the Sky realms for that long.
I think the Remembrance spirits are actually the best examples for this. Their memories obviously show important - if tragic - scenes from their life, but they seem to be from a time and place before they arrived at the vault to find refuge.
Yeah! Bereft veterans memory for example also shows scenes over a long period of time, meaning that last moments = spirit memory is incorrect (although it can occur, it’s just not the cause of them)
A non-season spirit that I neglected to mention is the Light Miner.
Their memory included a burial of all things (if not a commemoration of the miners that have perished in the memory).
Another is the Praying Acolyte spirit and even the Seed of Hope spirit from Aurora
TEARFUL LIGHT MINER RGEGGRGRGHH
👁️👁️‼️
Praying acolyte and seed of hope both have memories / memory quests that could take place within a relatively short period of time compared to bereft veteran’s. Praying acolyte’s memories are unclear; they could be over a long time span or less than an hour, we don’t know. Seed of hope’s probably transpired over the course of several hours…,,,
HOWEVER
HOWEVER
‼️
I am soososoosososossososososoo glad lightminer was brought up because I think their memory was over a much larger timespan (maybe several days/weeks) I think I have mentioned it before,
I avoided saying them earlier bc I was shy
OUGH being trapped in the cave for weeks as their light along with their hope and the few friends they had dwindles💔
diagram on how i think prosthetic's in general would work in sky
additional info, depending on the amount of light one has, the prosthetic can be more or less fluid in movement. If a prosthetic user has low light or doesn't want to use their own light to power it, then there's model's which have slots to put extra light to power the darksone.
This can also be used if somebody wants more precice movements on a prosthetic than what their natural light can power. And since i hc elders haveing an absurd amount of light, the twin's arms can move as if they were real limbs. :3
oh i am Looking
Somehow I forgot to post this earlier BUT Then making the symbolic stone stack graves in I think the fourth node & then sitting in front of the permanent graves later implies they wrre the only one who made it out & then came back to visit the graves later 💔
OUGH
Should TGC consider including a feature for skykids to have prosthetic limbs?
It is not its own cosmetic 'pants' so to speak, more of a togglable part of skykids for players to choose from. All while other cosmetics can be used all the same.
It would not only be inclusive to players with similar injuries that their skykids can reflect. It can also expand on this idea.
Throughout the history of mankind. It is quite possible (if not inevitable) for a considerable amount of people to have lost a limb, regardless of how it came to be. And therefore the invention and evolution of prosthetics over time.
It seems more likely that we get prosthetics that belong to a certain outfit, kinda like the cast from the wounded warrior
but not gloat for some reason even though they have one
Yaya, id honesty love a fit where we have a prosthetic limbs. Like outside of if the twin’s ever get their pants become cosmetics.
Like anyone can have a prostetic at any age, so I think it would be neat
And boots, like why are we walking in our bare feet when gloat clearly has their boots on
wait how did ppl come to a consensus that the valley twins have prosthetic limbs? i'm having a hard time seeing that when i look at their models
not dismissing the possibility, just can't see the telltale sign or whatever
tac has better pictures I think, it's hard to tell in their cutscene
ya like they're practically invisible in their cutscene but they do have prostetic arms
plus with them being on the side where their eyes are missing would make perfect sence
woo the picture !!!!! much easier to see here
looks like it's just their natural skin tone in the cutscene but if you look close enough (especially through pausing a video or taking a screenshot of them) you can notice the details on both of them
from what i can tell the prosthetics are the ones they do most of the swinging with in the cutscene as well - which could be something. i imagine that a limb with no muscles to get tired would be easier to train with
YES I AGREE!!! Like anything mechanical doesn't get tired, just worn down
keep forgetting what astral's name is here and it's so funny
hiii
to be fair
's crack on their mask isnt even visible in their cutscene either yet it is there #lore-discussion-spoilers message
oh i like this screenshot,,,,might save it

If you mean like oc lore and stuff then #sky-fanart-sketches-and-art-chat would probably be better. But if it’s anything related to any offical thing ingame then feel free,
Where did you took this photo
Vault elder room oob
ooh ok
I thought only sketches/ drawings were allowed there? Just to clarify
True, I just tend to see a lot of oc backstories and worldbuilding over there too so it’s the closest thing I can think of
Help me
#questions-and-help might be better for whatever you need help with
İ have discort but i don’t now using
YouTube tutorials could help?
Okay so like
I’m thinking of this scene cuz like most of the other elders who go through somthing similar, like the patterns fully being lit by the fire.
Because now I’m wondering, how does that work? I would say it’s special fabric dye like for murals but in the last image, even
’s hair is going through the same process.
So now I’m thinking like for one or could be their own version of the cape recharge (capes get more dull the less light you have). More out there theory is like what if it’s something I’ve seen in Steven universe. Where the clothes on gems are also made of light that are connected to their form. Cuz like that’s the only two reason I can think of why fire does this for the elders when they’re relit
Aw I like that
Ik I had some of those moments as a kid so it could definitely work
MAN so that was somthing, there’s so much
So like that mask is a goat/ram mask from the noises alone. But also I was intrigued because so many masks!!! I wonder if these passages are personafications of inner feelings(?)
Like reslieance is opposite to mope, so I wonder if the future quests will have somthing similar for each passage kid
Also
I find the word careless to sting a little, it could just be for leaving equipment around but like, both mining accidents for tearful and mindful was caused by the environment and possible erosion. But then again it seems like sky’s mining regulation was garbage so idk what to think
One more thing, and I know it’s slim, but I was instantly reminded of the animation project when I saw the beedy red eyes in forest. Because like the crabs in the animation are also in forest.
And like even the flute that overachiever had was shown be used by another character from the animation in a promo image from mundo digitals
Am I hoping the animation project might come out during or when passage ends? a little, it’s slim but like this is the second time I’ve noticed somthing related to the animation in passage
OKAY LAST THING I SWEAR
But the dark plants???? It could just be related to the passage, as it seems it acts like the same way as a prophecy trail but now I’m wondering that when it’s nighttime then darkplants thrive, and only very stubborn ones survive until they’re burnt off manually
Anyways off I go to sleep, very cool stuff
(I stg I always have more stuff to say )but apprently rams symbolize strength and determined, seen as a leader which would be perfect for resilience. And goats seems to have more peaceful yet determined definitions so
I’m now thinking this is a stylized ram mask because of its noises and the contents of the passage
playing with a japanese friend, they're a moth, i used an ascended candle to unlock fist bump to celebrate them completing their first candle run and they asked if what i used was a "star candle"
more "star child" tangentials
personally my theory is that there's a larger connection between elders and sky kids than we think
why is it that unlike the other elders, prarie elder takes the light to their chest in the same manner a sky kid does their heart/candle? the other elders put it in whatever tool or object they have nearby
why do the base clothes have a faint diamond symbol bordered by arrows that's also on the elders' clothes? why is that symbol so prevalent it's on the platform at the coliseum, it's on doorways and gates, and it's even on the sash of one of this season's pants!?
Is that a pontential prosthetic leg i see too…?
really, what exactly sets the elders apart from the ancestors aside from their larger proportions? there's gotta be more to it
I always thought they were just picked out like oooo special dude you do fancy stuff at a temple now
So originally they would have been any old ancestor
but the praire elder has the light storage jar with them already. why didn't they just turn the flame into a butterfly and coax it into the jar in the first place, and then get light up in the same formula as the rest?
it's all this minutiae that makes it hard to tell if i'm on the right track or overthinking things...
on
? i feel like that might just be how they were modelled but honestly anythings possible
Yeah that one! See how one of their boots has the diamond on it and sticks out?
ooo, true true
~~gotta love it when quest 2 comes out and iydll hasnt even started quest 1
~~
Same lol
here i am, postponing the quest 2 because i have exams tomorrow
Hey y'all, can you share screenshot of the great vortex title text? I want to compare with Indonesian translation
Credit to Nastymold for this image (taken from one of their YouTube videos)
welp, I finally found out where this fantastic image of the ancestors with the passage ocarina came from.
It was from a Spanish digital magazine.
Also, found this image of the child in the woods in its page too.
Here is the link (posted separately in case the bot nukes the link):
https://www.mundosdigitales.org/media/catalogos/web/MD_2022.pdf
Sad that it was not a video. But am glad to know the animation project is alive and well. And where the darn image came from.
looks at vortex
Look at what else in that magazine!

BOAT
Finally, we have a sky boat in HD
I recommend reading this (especially Spanish speakers). The magazine is English and Spanish btw.
This is a very interesting render of the animation project creature.
Those how have by chance seen theories on this in the past, I stand corrected on the theory of this being an elder bird.
Clearly it is not the case. No feathers, different tail pattern and the head is nothing like the pointed bird head/nose.
Here!
AUGH WRONG PERSON SORRY meant @slim mango
ITS OKAY
In my opinion, it looks like an uncorrupted krill
Honestly I go back and fourth if they also have prostetic legs too. Like it could definitely work, but since their outfits cover their entire legs it’s hard to tell for sure
Follow up: I wonder if this is possibly an adult version of the 'mantatee'/'sky puppy' we have seen in Days of Nature 🦭
It is possible if the same logic applies for sky creatures to gain additional limbs as they grow in size. Similar to the mantas.
Small mantas (the pygmies) are short and have 1 pair of fins, then the medium ones are longer but still 1 pair of fins, and the greater mantas have 2 pairs of fins.
possibly, it can be a lot of things.
Perhaps if the krill were a sky seal/mantatee (headcanon nickname), they could be a greater version due to its size.
[Bot, I am going to bash every crab in a mile radius for nuking that message for absolutely no reason]
sigh, am going to retype.
Update: Do not type the word that describes a person or creature has a "bad" leg.
It was the trigger word after all.
I can see how that word would be used as an insult. However, it is frustrating to lose a message that meant well. Because of a word that could also be used in a perfectly normal discussion. 💢
da puppy,, tiny babies,,
AEUGHSCBWKCNWS MORE OUPPIES
animation project teaser theory.
Noticing on of the drawings shows the pup with a "hurt" fin (cannot use the proper word, because I think it was the trigger for the bot)
Am getting a bit of a Nemo's fin vibes here.
I believe the skykid was traveling with the ancestors in the animation, but saw a pup trying to keep up and struggle with the "bad" fin.
Then leapt off the creature to be with the pup.
Ya that too! I feel like for me skykids share similar traits to elders on purpose; but they arnet like mini elders. Like our skykids goal is, ascend to the mountain and free the spirits, where elders were only meant to help guide spirits to the stars.
Trying to figure how to word this
So skykids have similar traits to elders but in their own little way, both share similar recharge states, yet skykids definitely have more freedom on what they can do with it, but still weaker when they have no light. When elders can hold their own. Plus even when we help basegame spirits we have to go to the temple and watch the cutscene, restore the elders light.
So we are working togeather, and I think that’s the point, elders need the skykids to help ascend the spirits, skykids need the elders to help moving foward.
Tldr; skykids and elders could have similar traits because they are meant to help and work togeather
i want to Hold that little skypup,,
The ouppy!!!!!!!
Poor krill. If that’s originally their species, I wonder what krill remember of being light creatures.
I would say the should krill remember some of their old instincts being protective or territorial. They are seen patrolling certain areas without rest.
For dragons, they still act as powerful guardians of the areas they live in.
[looks back and forth from the dark dragons to the whale skeletons in the GW graveyard]
i'm not saying it's impossible for other light creatures to become corrupted and become dark dragons, but the precedent has been set
I still think Krill were the big ‘flatworm’ kind of creatures in Vault.
… Well, never mind, the light from the eye in animation project is decisive.
we'd also see more biodiversity in terms of dark creatures if this were the case, realistically. but krill do have a lot of polygons and can be glitchy already (doing pop-up raves with their eyes sometimes). so technical limitations could be a barrier
Some people actually think Krills are sorta like zombies. Light Creatures die, their remains become corrupted by darkness, and they reanimate as husks of their former selves only remembering basic instincts like how to walk. Or fly in this case.
and that they need to have light stored in their bodies
Being careful to suggest this.
There may have been a point where the game could have shown a different type of corrupted sky creature.
Namely a dark and menacing looking manta in the graveyard.
Take note, I would call this 'forbidden lore' as this is related to evidence that is not allowed on this server.
However, one can still speculate on this. Just giving context while hopefully not overstepping any rules.
Only because their body is now animated by darkness their body rejects it/it isn’t enough light to get rid of the darkness in them.
Maybe there were but only krill could persist to the present era
The game does hint at the Dark dragons (krill) that they 'hunger for light'.
also interesting to note: the third variant of dark creature, the large 'leviathan' from the season of abyss
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
my interpretation of the season quests is that you're putting the soul to rest of the manta who was experimented upon to artificially develop into an elder manta. the murals show scholars experimenting with light output from mantas based on wing count, and discovering that more wings could charge more diamond batteries. their greatest achievement was an genetically engineered elder manta, which was kept at the base of the facility with a large viewing gallery
(and seeing as how there's a very quaint area with grass, flowers, benches, and the shared space shrine includes beach-going equipment, i'd venture to say that treasure reef was open to civilians for recreation too. maybe they could get a tour through the laboratory like it was a museum?)
i say put the soul to rest because a simple monowing manta encounters you at the reef's entrance and bestows upon you the knowledge of swimming. there is a manta sculpture in the cave proper, almost like a memorial, and also a light mural warning of the corrupt creature in the depths
in the final quest, you burn away a darkness plant that has trapped a manta (much more mature plant than those at the HF broken bridge that also trapped mantas) after being engulfed by the 'leviathan' and then the leviathan expells you and the cackling cannoneer from its body
i think it's the same manta.
i never tried during the quests, but i don't recall that the leviathan tries to go after sky kids. i don't think it has an appetite for light.
Wow so that’s why the mural shows a different giant creature in different scenes.
The game itself does not show the abyss leviathan acting hostile to skykids.
Either because a massive dark creature capable of swallowing a skykid would be too scary to randomly encounter, or the devs did not intend for the creature to re-enact the events after the season ends.
While the season performed very well and had a nice ending, there are some missed opportunities in my opinion on the leviathan now left under the ocean to swim around aimlessly and not to be interacted with by skykids.
Like most elder creatures/characters in sky, they are distant and hardly interact with skykids.
For what reason? That remains to be canonically answered.
My headcanon would be that now the leviathan is free to graze for light plankton and that it comes to that location where it is now only occasionally
I think the Leviathan operated on animal logic. We hurt it/we tasted bad so now it leaves us alone because it sees us as something not worth going after again.
[Bot got triggered by a word for a hunting animal]
Should the leviathan be a hunting animal, and was eating fish. Even if it had to spit them back out, it would eventually have to eat the fish at some point.
Which since the season ended, the creature has not eaten anything (that I know of and heard from other skykids). So it should be starving by now as far as the lore is concerned.
That’s me if I don’t sit at a tea table for one day
What if the whole game may be a commentary on how advanced societies push the boundaries of scientific discovery and innovation, without considering the long-term risks of their actions, leading ultimately to their downfall.
What if the sky kid or child of light journeying through the world to restore it could be interpreted as a metaphor for the human condition, how we all have the power to bring positive change to the world, no matter how small our individual acts of kindness or light may seem, and how social interaction and togetherness can strengthen and empower people.
The game does include philosophy.
This is a nice dip into humanism and modernism. Whether you meant to or not, your are not wrong to suggest these ideas.
I was paying attention to the current season and it made me think 🤔 The game's world and characters may be an invitation to reconnect with our inner child, the part of us that is filled with wonder, curiosity, and imagination that can see the world as a wondrous and magical place.
ye.
A childhood does not last forever.
And while there are a lot of people who act childish in the world. There are not enough people who embraced the idea of having a childlike mind.
Being childlike does mean to be childish.
It is allowing yourself to enjoy things and having moments to yourself similar to how your were as a child. Like skipping, giggling at something silly, acting silly for example.
A functional and independent adult does not have to forget the things they enjoyed as a child, nor forget them in favor of being a responisble grown up.
You can, in a way, be a parent to yourself and allow yourself a bit of time to enjoy the things you worked hard to have.
I wish more grown-ups know this so they can have a happier life. Even for a little while.
Exactly and season of shattering made me wonder if the game focus on light and darkness could represent the constant cycle of change in the world, the ebb, and flow of life that requires a balance of light and darkness.
In addition, what if the game's use of light and darkness may also symbolize the duality of human nature, with the world of Sky Children of Light both illuminating the beauty and the potential for good in humanity, as well as the darkness of our most destructive impulses and actions. Which goes perfectly with the theme of the current event “Days of Nature”.
☯︎ < Reminds me of this
Two halves. One with a piece of the other, neither has more than the other, nor divides each other.
These creatures do seem to have light up eye like the animation project creature
Sky puppy be a night light ❤️
And seasonal quests for “ Season of Remembrance” could be seen as a metaphor for the importance of memory and the preservation of history in our collective consciousness.
speaking of remembrance, what's the general thought on why the 4 quest ancestors remain as spirits, but their loved ones are gone forever? i was half expecting that once we got their memory lanterns back for them that their dead friends/family would come back as spirits, but instead it just kind of felt like we were taunting them with images of the people they're never getting back 😓
especially due to some of their reactions to seeing their loved ones manifesting for a second and then fading away again. just kinda felt mean :(
We have seen other spirits in quests/memories at various points in the game. Some of which are cameo appearances of other spirits skykids can find, while others may not be found by skykids.
These unknown spirits not only imply there were many ancestors in the kingdoms, as well as imply that not all spirits cannot be saved, or they have already moved on.
The devs are selective on which ancestor spirits we meet in the game. Which makes it a game play limitatation.
...that's deep, fam
[still annoyed at you, bot. A warning that a message would be erased would be appreciated]
[While it cannot be helped, it is discouraging for messages to be removed because of a word.]
Ghosts/spirits tend to linger as they have unfinished business. I feel the rememberance spirits were in the state of not being able to move on and stuck in their grief. And when we help them show the memory lanterns it helps them take the first steps to heal, know that they’re gone, and that they can go and join them. I feel like this can help explain why we even have seasonal spirits around in general, like all of them have unfinished business to do. Also helps explain why all of them ascend when we do the final quest in the newer seasons
A memory is a treasure itself it was not taunting more like you gave them a gift.
Yaya like letting them see their loved one infront of them one last time instead of memory
(Consider sending that in through #contact-the-mods
the bot can't read your message because it's a bot)
When my grandmother was very ill, and before she passed away, she told me that she is grateful that she had all the memories of her past since childhood until her final days as not many people have this privilege
I have in the past, and was explained.
Short and simple answer: bad words get censored because people use them for bad things.
Can't be helped, but it has caused folks who liked to type whole theories to retype them because one of the words triggered the bot and there is no real indicator or warning for it.
Best advise is to keep messages simple, copy the text if you worry about losing it. And be mindful of what words would be the cause.
Augh yeah, like knowing she remembers everything and cherishes those memories is a gift in itself
Exactly because some of her friends had Alzheimers she was afraid of that
Ough yeah, I’m still far away from the age of the possibility of Alzheimer’s but I’m still scared of getting it. Looking back it does make sence why we help the rememberance spirits by showing the memory lanterns, like I feel not remembering a loved one is more painful than anything.
Even though grandpa wasn’t there she was at peace because she had all the memories of him, as well as of her loving parents
There’s also absolutely zero Eden spirits,
Except the shattering spirits. Although they are not true spirits that we know and recognise as, and are not found in Eden in a way we also not know and recognise.
The Eden spirits, Void of Shattering spirits, and Remembrance loved ones might be so completely destroyed that their memories couldn’t be recovered
(Thanks Raider for finding this!)
More gameplay discussion, but I find this literal student thesis about Sky extremely interesting
Maybe this is foreshadowing of Krill being the King ‘Resh’s’ guardians
boy howdy does that first one resonate with me :,) sky really does seem at odds with itself w its story vs the actual gameplay loop
you are welcome
I think that’s why a lot of players eventually quit
I will say that communities and parts of Sky that don’t focus on cosmetics as much are ultimately more long-lasting and fair (like this one!)
I find it funny (sarcastically) how some changes like disabling races in Valley were made because it was apparantly an issue when players competed with each other on how fast or how many points a team got. Which could have been made an optional feature for player not looking to compete.
And yet not an issue when a new event/season starts and its off to the races for who could buy the season/event out the fastest.
The thesis did hit the nail on the head that the capitalistic aspect in the game is a self-serving one.
While the game is supposedly heavily geared towards players connecting with one another and paying it forward in kindness. It does leave a warped vision of that kindness being forged with the ability to buy a friend over with candles.
I am not bashing a company for running the game with the option for players to support them. That is not the issue at all.
Which is what the thesis also makes great observations when grinding for candles in the game takes time and dedication, while the tempting offer to simply bypass that grind loop by buying candles has a side effect with the message the game has on making friends and the value of them.
this is semi-lore related but has anyone heard of TGC's presentation at the 2019 game dev conference? there's some interesting stuff, even if a lot of it is from the "light awaits" beta concept
Yeah, the hero’s journey one
Real life historical concept architecture that is similar to Vault. [short that’s about Cenotaph for Isaac Newton] https://youtube.com/shorts/8ME75OYQWV4?feature=share
no but there was this part at the 30:11 mark of the presentation that your excerpts reminded me of.
"But the biggest complaint really was that players felt the friendship component of the game was imbalanced. And this is harsh because we're trying to make a game that connects people, right? So you know, one guy was like, 'I'm leveraging my friendship points to unlock content and collectibles in this world. You're giving me candles, I'm giving you candles. I want your candles just to unlock the cool stuff.'"
it's kind of inescapable tho. the number of message boats i've seen from players who say they're going to block ppl who aren't sending pieces of light or participating in heart exchanges...
Vault's observatory?
Here's mine!
Well, in Indonesian translation, Sanctuary means "sacred place/temple"
What a nice compilation. Yes, and I am also thinking of the implied long dark hallway we walk through to reach Vault from Wasteland.
Thinking about the sequence after the skykid loses their flame in eden and how they fall into a void with a single wl,,,,,, Its up to interpretation on whats exactly happening like most other stuff ingame I think but id like to hear what you guys think happens there
Has anyone ever noticed how the opening part of the flying race (the part where the doors open and you jump off) looks kinda broken? Like there was something past the doors but then it broke off. Maybe it could have had platforms where the racers would mount their Mantas and prepare to fly?
ohh that sounds likely
I think the kid represents your inner light, given they are your exact height all the time
OO thats a good one, I believe its the Light itself giving the skykid a second chance
I could go into more detail if you wanna hear it huehue
Do so! But there’s another thing: on the final Shattering memory, there are two children hugging in a scene similar to one at Eden
Holdup ive never seen that one- is there a photo of it somewhere?
OHHH ive seen that one but I have never seen the children there
Kinda hard to see
OHHH I never saw them there
I feel like the two of them are possibly statues now as we see lots of the statues holding onto each other n stuff so im guessing that memory was their final moment together
I like to think it would be a longer lift off path for mantas. Since with warrior of loves sequence, I like to think that’s what was used in the flying race
Anyway ill talk about my interpretation of the void sequence now:
The void the skykid falls into is pretty much their afterlife as they have been turned to stone after being corrupted by darkness, leaving them in an empty space. However, there is a singular wl there. I believe this wl is sent by the Light itself to give your skykid a second chance. The skykid is just a child after all, so perhaps its an award for sacrificing themself just to save the Fallen ones especially so early in their life
Has... HAS THIS ALWAYS BEEN HERE??
yes? there's a spirit there. did you not know about that..
No...

I can't believe there's been a spirit gate there the whole time and I've never seen it
Voyager wating for how ever long you played to relive them
Leon I am in tears
What did you think when you saw us post about Voyager did you think we were making up a spirit or something
emote
there's no way you have isle completed without reliving rejecting voyager i would be amazed if you somehow got the emote but forgot where they were
I genuinely forgot voyager was there I don't know how
It's like I remember the existence of the spirit themselves but I do not have any memories of actually reliving them (even tho I did)
In my defense, it's been so long since I've last relived a base game isle spirit
Voyager for as long as youve been playing sky the entire time has just been sitting in that cave 😭 I dont blame you as a moth I was oblivious to everything so took a while for me to finally relive them too
Leon forgot about the Dawn kinnie smh my head 😔
No like I've actually relived them when I was a moth since I have the emote but I genuinely have NO memory of ever doing so. idk what's Wrong with me
A "moth" is a new player. They have brown wings, they flap around uncontrollably, and they are drawn to flame!
So you thought the
emote appeared out of nowhere and was just there
happens
i have no memory of ever reliving light whisperer or going to wind paths as a moth yet it's the call I've been using for the longest time, so
Honestly I have a bad memory in general
Whenever one of the daily quests is to relieve a specific spirit I always have to look up the location because I am completely unable to remember where Any of the spirits are. I can only remember the location of like 3 from the dozens the game has
I also struggle to remember which emote does each spirit give since I rarely remember their names
mood honestly
mmm i have the opposite problem with the emotes
remember too many of them & to some extent where they are
i have to tap the top left corner of my screen constantly, i cant remember the dailies for the life of me
practically all emotes, and the spirit by full name, plus the general area of where they're located to relive them is filling up my brain but i still get confused between spin trick (spinning mentor) and triple axel (twirling champion)
Not the among us crewmate on there 😭
Among us is important enough to Ancestor society that Night got it carved into their mask
ok what the heck is up with this season? this quest felt very important storywise but it caught me kinda off guard
I'm not sure myself but I will post these images of things from the quest, parts of forest that used to be ?
It definitely made me feel expectant for lots of lore..
I highly reccomend replaying and watching the areas beyond the lighted path....
also I forgot lumberjacks existed when I took this photo but here it is
tbh i dont want to replay it for the sole reason of the lack of space :(
totally fair... i had a fluid crowd.. i intend to replay after the first week or so has passed
yeah thats what im thinking... i couldnt see anything past a cloud of gray :(
also those two little red dots in the bg were interesting, i think ill investigate them later
they disappear when you get close, seems to just be a representation of what "kills you" in the darkness
oh my god i've been wanting to talk about the eyes watching us so badly
BAAAAAA
Not sure what mask they can do for 2027 now......
Whatever. Theres two rabbits. I still want massive pointy cool looking ram horns. It could still work.
||Why do I see red things in forest?||
Anyone else feel like the guide has much more personality? Like when the kids ran off to do the second quest, they shook their head like "ughhh these kids"
They'd be watching us!
LITERAL YEARS
I think this is much more a test of courage, as part of this trial of passage
wandering through a nightly forest in a group of kids
I did that as a kid too, on two occasions
Seems more like a hazing test tbh 💀
Salem has an image of "the youths are summoned by the flames" or something like that and. ngl I would be too
Running through a dark forest, at night, with dangerous creatures watching you? Gotta be careful
it has, and dw it also took me like, ater i did eden 5 times (and i didnt edened too oftrn dx) and then when i started in switch as moth i relieved all of them at once
also in spanish its called trial of depencency, that at least by spanish traduction i think its more about, trusting? i guess? others? bc if not u die? idk
... qwq i forgot to desactivate the ping... sorry
Season of Hazing
of course the next thing i noticed after the whole test of courage in the dark thing, was the detail about prospectors leaving their stuff around
the spanish version uses the term “buscadores de oro” = gold prospectors, which for me just solidifies the idea of like a free for all gold rush in forest. Hghh of course the environmental stuff just gets me
the fact that they have kids clean it up as part of the passage is interesting too !! like it’s not just about doing something scary in the dark but also about community service. hazing with a purpose
it's called the passage of Reliance, maybe it's about relying on your fellow travelers to get through the darkness?
I think it is more on relying on the light to guide you through the darkness
Idk if this is in the live version, but if you stay out of the bubble for too long, it will say along the line that "you got lost and have to return to the group and the light, otherwise the darkness will devour you"
oh that is. Scary omg
tgc rlly likes doing Lost Boys theme these days
I'm never gonna live this down am I
no
ok but how about those shadowy figures you can see running around in the bg of the new season quest
I think the passage of reliance is about relying on each other as a group; let me explain
The idea is that there's too much stuff around for a single kid to pick up before the light of the mask moves on, so the group members have to rely on each other to do their part in order to pick up everything they can while still having time to return to safety, otherwise there's too much for a single individual
Silly shadows doing their silly thing
All jokes aside I honestly think they are the crabs from the animation teaser
Imagine if the crabs are doing a crab rave as we pass through, we just can’t see them because they’re hidden in the darkness.
They're too self-conscious about their crab rave, that is why they disappear :(
The crabs are probably doing the crab rave because someone is finally here to clean up their home. The crabs unfortunately do not have hands so they were unable to remove the trash.
woah the trees have eyes 🤯
i dunno guys, those look like people running onto the bridge o_o;; who are theyyyy its so creepy
OH SORRY I IMMEDIENTLY SAW THE EYES ON THE TREES
I guess it could be a lil odd (maybe a little silly), but do you think it could be other players from other servers doing the quest? (since the movements look like they are following the mask from their side)
i don't... think so? the game would only display other players in the same instance as the sheep things right?
they also seem a little more spread out than players following the mask would be
yeah its other instances, i wish they just had those as like npcs following the group if they had to include them
Think it’s like that thing of seeing things in the dark you know? Unsure if somthing is really there as a lot of people seem to have that fear
i know i do
My anxiety causes me to get afraid of things being out there in the dark. It’s why I don’t feel comfortable going out for walks when it’s dark because I’m scared something or someone could jump me. 😔
Hallo hav question, i rmember it being mention somewhere that clouds in kingdom are disappating over time, allowing us to find more spirits
Does anyone know where that quote is?
Yeaaaa the idea of "completely destroyed " has alweys been so cool in this loor
Theyre also still representative of elder status and stuff bc passes still take time and effort, and older clothes are often muy obvious
So in that light the hierarchy can be good for helping younger skids to know who to get help from
I like when age is representative, even tho theres bad effects
I don’t believe a dev has said it, but it’s a common theory
Dang i thought ive seen it b4
that's a skybot message iirc
I think Al has mentioned it before
I know the community has always mentioned it but i thought we got it from somewhere
skybot comes in and proposes theory ideas to get us talking. it often gets us talking but not about the question it asks
Think it’s either a common idea or a skybot quote yet I’m not sure, it would make sence though
But we have this with the cape light symbols being more detailed the more WL you have
“Next up: Analyzing the diet of crabs”
And then we talk about like Tsadi being sad for the 1000th time or somthing
or how much we think skybot gets annoying
What the whaaat
Skybot just says random stuff to get us talking. But like the prompts have been repeated hundreds of times so we just tend to ignore whenever it pops into chat
That used to be very true, but these days at least 70% of moths have 10 flaps by theit first 1-2 moths, and many even have 11 by their 2-3rd! 🤯
Iz crazy
Hm but but but
Idk i know i am delusional but i cant remember if my delusions saw it either on the playstote years ago or in the new help prompts with the nice art in game hmmm
Maybe it was around at some point, yet again I can’t remember if that’s confirmed or just a theory
Dangit
the skybot message i'm thinking of is "are we discovering new areas because of the light we've brought back to Sky" which isn't exactly what you're looking for but sounds pretty similar
i would not be able to search through and find the actual thing you're talking about though 💔
Mm no that wasn't it
It was about seasonal spirits and that
"As the storm calms more spirits can be rescued"
Thanks tho peppl

actually the one time I've poked into lorechat recently and I see this :)
others have mentioned it already but that was a thing I've been saying for a while. prob not the first to suggest the idea, though I've been big on it and still believe it to be true.
consider that many entrances to seasonal areas have been revealed to us by the removal of clouds – Performance's Village Theater, Village of Dreams (fun fact the pre-Dreams colosseum used to have clouds in it), Flight's Wind Paths, Sanctuary Islands entrance. also the Eden diamond generates a storm around it that could be causing cloud cover, such as the overcast skies of the Wasteland which is thin enough by Abyss's Treasure Reef to let sunlight through.
so as the Eden Storm weakens, the clouds dissipate or receede, revealing more areas where spirits were petrified and we can rescue them
Very true grazi, i just wish my delusional remembering of that being a real Sky quote was true
Moffs are growing buffer
me with ten wings and less than 2 months of playing I feel called out 😅
it's not that hard if you explore every corner of the game and make use of the map and maybe a wiki to find the last star on the map you missed somehow 🤣
now i feel called out
also called hyperfixating on the game for the first two weeks after discovering it-
😋
Definitely did this lol
hi hello i remembered the rainbow headphones are a thing and i started thinking how they would even work, like how it plays stuff. but then i remembered the small diamond in the middle and sarted thinking.
Would be variant of memory crystals but can be any length and audio only. Crystals can be inserted into headphones and speakers, or played on it's own. The one in the photo would be a music crystal for example. And this can also be for recordings in general, say a lesson recording.
- Example: Logo can be replaced with the logo of the school
- The song name can be title of what its about (Say Lesson 87: Light manipulation) along with the speaker name (Elder Lamed) for example
-Album cover and name could act as a brief description on what its about
sorry for my writing im eepy
OOOOOHH THIS IS MAKING ME REMEMBER A HC THAT I USED TO HAVE FOR HEADPHONES
"Headphones draw in sound or light from the air, converting it into music"
For example, if the surroundings are peaceful, it would produce this soothing sound. But on the other hand, if the environment is dangerous, the sound produced would be rough and spikey
Oo so like custom ambient noise!
Mhm! This thought got into my mind; basically when a corrupted creature is in an environment that is overall peaceful and bright (or vice-versa), the sound it would produce would be off-tune. But if there is an equal amount of darkness and light in one environment, it would produce a rather chaotic yet beautiful orchestra-like sound
Question about this:
- Is it possible for the audio diamond (i'm calling them that) to be paused? If so, how so?
- Could it be possible to put 2 different audio diamonds be put on both sides of the headphones? Or would that only be a headache to whoever is wearing the headphones if it was possible?
Are we discovering new areas because of the light we've brought back to Sky?
I know some headphones have a tap fiction to pause so that could work
For the differnt audio diamonds in going back and fourth on one can player after the other or there just being like one diamond that’s for the music crystals when the other is just for looks
and yes, u think so, a little like how aurora and the prophets (sry tac or whoever is in love with season of prophecy, thats how i refer to the spirits) where able to return, thanks to our light, ig its the same with hdiden area
but hey thats just a theory, a sky theory, and krill
I have a little theory.
What if golden wasteland was once a bustling city made of gold, hence the name. That city didn't have alot of farming things so they used fishing as thier trade (kinda like irl) but they ended up over fishing and ended up polluting the waters around the castle thing. I think that the Red diamond in eden wasn't always there, I think that it landed there whenever everything was really healthy and there's grass every where. Well whenever it landed there it didn't start making things go bad until the krills could fly there, that's when everything went bad. All the spirits in places like golden wasteland ither got krilled or tried to move away quickly. In the battle field I saw tons of spikes to I think that the elder of golden wasteland was trying to fight against the krills but didn't succeed (that's why the large spears are by the battle field door) I feel like the krills caused the bad plants to spend further and further all the way to daylight prairie but since the krills were too far away from the red diamond so they had to go back to the places like golden wasteland and eye of eden. Also another thing I think another place or world got haunted my the other eye since most things have two eyes.
interesting
In concept art, there was a mention of a Holy land and a city just after in the Golden Wastes.
Perhaps since then the devs may have considered moving it either to just past the Wastes or in the Wastes.
Either case, the holy aspect feels like a reference to Jerusalem. Then again, it could have connections to other major structures of the ancient world.
Such as a palace in Tibet, a temple in India, or even Greek/Rome.
Perhaps the coliseum in Valley could help clue us in that each temple possibly have a theme related to an anceient civilisation.
Whether is is intentional or not, or even a one-to-one comparison may be up for debate.
Personally, while I would think TGC would look to real life cultures for inspiration, they may not solely rely on these references to built up the lore.
Which includes the flying stone boats, as well as the lore as a whole.
Meaning some of the lore would be referencing real life ancient wonders. The lore in Sky adds on to these references with their own story.
A story of an ancient civilisation that was once united, but feel into darkness.
Guys is there shard today or not n if so where is it?

If you look at the animation project, you’re mostly right!
Okay so like this is more speculation but like
Because of the crack on their mask, and the fact their hair is like short on the same side too. I’m now wondering if they actually had some sort of injury.
Like because it’s standard for trauma that goes across the head to have the hair shaved for better visibility. And now I wonder if they’re still growing their hair out, or after a while they realized “hey this style looks nice” and kept it short
I don’t know, I was thinking of the scar hc I have for them and realized “hey, this could actually have some truth to it maybe.”
does mehk have one too ?
They actually don’t, only sah
interesting...
Yeah Mekh is like solid, only thing I can see is a small chip missing near where their chin is but that can be clipping
grhgrhgh i need to be brought to an oob to get ref images of the skrunklies
It’s super easy to get there, there’s a bunch of YouTube tutorials on how to do it solo
The way I get them on the ground is just by reliving their cutscene and then heading over
i'll be sure to look up tutorials and try it so i can get some sahlfies
the easy way is just, enter valley temple, on the right side fly up to the windows, then the first window is the way out
oh really ? i'll have to try that !
Ya it’s pretty easy, it’s just managing your light is where most struggle
raises hand
just double checking something sky lore chat
motherbird is the one who "created" us right
technically we're here descendants
That isn’t confirmed and is somewhat unclear (like many things in this game 😔). Many people in this chat believe They did create us, but not all; for example, I do not. It just depends on your interpretation right now, and ‘yes’ would be the most commonly accepted answer to that question but not necessarily the right one.
Lil curious (since I personally believe megabird did make them) but how were skykids created in your idea Salem?
IWill eat lunch and then get back to you (evil smile)
:3
To start with, as of yet, I’m somewhat foggy on how skykids were actually created. Part of me wants to say they just are, like the other creatures, although I’m aware that might not be a satisfactory answer. I’m still brainstorming alternatives to this and would love to hear others’ ideas if they have any!
The conclusion I’m much more sure about is believing that there’s at least a decent chance we weren’t created by a Megabird. My reasoning is mostly that I just don’t find that there’s enough evidence in the game to state without a doubt that we were created by a Megabird, or even that such an entity exists as something separate from the Light itself (which could still fulfill all the ‘duties’ others here typically assign to ‘Megabird’, just under a different name). While I am very aware of the vaguely bird shaped thing we see in the credits, there’s nothing besides concept art linking what could just be a depiction of the entire galaxy to the god-like being I often see it equated to. There are few references to any higher entity in the game, and all of these can be attributed to the Light without needing to make a separate being within it. Of course, this isn’t me saying that Megabird absolutely does not exist, just poking others here to have a bit more nuance since their existence is often stated as fact when it’s anything but.
There is also some personal interpretation stuff here and I won’t deny that, which is what I’ll get into next post (as this one is getting very long)
The only confirmed fact we know is that “all are born from starlight”, from the intro cutscene. It depends on how you view Megabird in relation to the stars.
Btw, can I DM you?
sure?
Oo yaya makes sence! Thinking back I feel like I’ve been saying that megabird created skykids as a fact yet we donr actually have any pointers of that happening
Continuation of this post here!
The basics of it is that having a creator god who can create beings at will to influence the world, and can otherwise consciously influence the light within the world, creates a lot of hard to answer questions when considered in the context of a post apocalyptic world where everyone died specifically from there not being enough light. Yes, the kingdom very definitely influenced their own downfall by actively destroying that light, but if there’s a god who can simply create more light at will, why not at least alleviate or alter the disaster? Why wouldn’t they do anything about the growing amount of light creatures dying in refineries, or the diamond at all? Why wait so long to send skykids? Sure, there are a lot of logistical barriers for them to do these things, but as viewed in their most common interpretation here they have literally all the knowledge in the universe; they could have figured out a way.
Season of Prophecy’s basis makes all those questions — which are pretty easy to ignore otherwise — much harder to answer. We don’t know how old the prophecies we see are, and trial of fire can be interpreted as a prophecy for what happened to Eden (although, even if you don’t believe it is, it would be really weird for the prophets to not at least have some clue the disaster was coming. Whether they could figure out what it meant is another story and a very long tangent but that doesn’t matter here). Again, I want to mention that Megabird in their current most common interpretation has the souls of every previously-alive creature and ancestor within them, and it is hard to believe they wouldn’t have access to some prophetic ability. If we believe the trial of fire detail from earlier then they would have known Eden was going to fall even before sending down the person who was supposed to stop it.
That last observation is what drove me towards skepticism moreso than the one before it, because I couldn’t explain it away.
Eating this
Okay but yeah bringing up on how it would even work makes sence. Because like yeah, why couldn’t they just send light down to help with the disaster? Why In their most common interpretation couldnt they help earlier.
There are the tropes of a god figure being silent observers than truly helping if at all but I don’t really like that reason because like. If they didn’t help then that means all the soldiers, workers, everyone who was effected by the disaster who knew it would get worse just let it happen
Yeah!!
I personally believe the Light is… hard to explain. It can speak to us and it flows throughout the world in a way we can sense, but it’s more of a force given a mind and voice rather than a god. We’re closest to it in Orbit, where Light is strongest, and on the ground it is most powerful in the brightest places.
Yeah light is just sort of everywhere, and in sky it’s sort of has its own law if that makes sence
Kinda like whenever we are in orbit sky kids glow pure bright white but when our capes ran out of light and we can't fly anymore we don't really glow much
wait do the elders have names or are they just like made up
Elder Names by Alasdair#8513
The Elders (plus the king & prince) have names based off Hebrew letters from concept development that are no longer canon, though the fandom sometimes refers to them as such:
Isle – Daleth (ד)
Prairie – Ayin (ע)
Forest – Teth (ט)
Valley – Samekh (ס) (they share a name, though the fandom refers toas Sah and
as Mekh)
Wasteland – Tsadi (צ)
Vault – Lamed (ל)
Prince – Alef (א)
King – Resh (ר)Though it seems the devs refer to the Elders by the times of day their realms represent:
Isle – Dawn
Prairie – Day
Forest – Rain
Valley – Sunset
Wasteland – Dusk
Vault – Night
Eden – Storm
this says it better than I could've (thank goodness it formatted correctly)
i can see why TGC would want to pivot away from using an extant culture's alphabet for character names. it's always sat a little bit weird with me that people continue to use the old names for them even though the game doesn't
they're far from the only game that does/did, for what that's worth
not sure what you mean by bringing that fact up?
if your point is that it's weird that the fandom uses names tgc doesn't and I'm talking about something else entirely that's my bad
oh, nah. my point is that it's weird that the fandom keeps using the hebrew letter names when the whole reason that tgc likely stopped using them (at least i hope) was because it's in poor taste to appropriate aspects of judaism just cause they seem "mystical and mysterious". look at all the other media that essentially just use hebrew script (or thinly veiled reworkings of it) and other pieces of jewish religious imagery for their magical languages and stuff
that would be territory I am Far Less qualified to speak on
to me They are just a very, very heavy concentration of light, into which all creatures are eventually destined. sometimes, new creatures result of so much light concentrated in one place, but this is rare and random. given enough time, this could have resulted in skykids.
eh, it's not a big deal to me or anything, just something i've noticed lol
that's completely valid
If your Skykid had a mentor, what Ancestor would it be?
gay chimesmith, my answer hasnt changed
mellow musician. they jam together
Can totally get that. Only reason I I tend to go back on fourth on the day names and their old herbrew names is because I just personally like when a character has an actual name attached, than simply having tiltle. Rather than to be just to be known as like Forest elder or Slouching soldier for example, Teth/Rain, Abeko (from slink) feels more personal
also. a numerous quantity of signs point to me being one of the lucky few to complete the lorechat trifecta (furry, genderqueer, neurodivergent)
do you have a list of all these signs, i am intrigued
can any1 explain to me the full lore of the seaspn pls i flopped since the 2st quest
salem with delicious text walls
Shortest version possible:
Teacher uses elemental powers to make rites of passage for spirits who never got the ability to do so
why are some crabs different colors?
So far I've been viewing it as Prophecy with opposite values
Prophecy trials aim to find a chosen one while Passage rituals aim to teach the value of teamwork
However my intrusive thoughts tell me something insidious is hiding within and we're not getting into that
you're awesome!
My OC does have Performance Guide as their mentor
Also, the wisdoms are different. The Prophecy wisdoms relate to self-improvement, in regards to patience, resilience, balance, and courage. The Passage wisdoms are about helping others, with Reliance
Yeah!
I wonder what the other wisdoms will be
I wonder what the initiation leads up to
Since the pupils are adolescents I'd assume it's leading up to them becoming responsible adults who can function in a society
Because we can tell from their memories that they can't function as responsible adults yet
With their bad communication skills and all
Maybe they’re linked? Although we won’t know until all of the quests come
Yeah, maybe the Prophecy and Passage wisdoms are linked
How though... I don't know.
We’ll have to see more when the quests come
isle, apparently (seriously its happened twice)
Fun fact I just got reminded to post here, I like to imagine Isle ancestors were nocturnal! Hence why Stargazer is walking around at night, why they marked the way with glowing murals that are much harder to see in the daytime, why there’s both a trial and a passage (and the setup for the passages) about finding your way in the dark…
stargazer's memory doesn't exactly make much sense during daytime isle thanks passage
Maybe as Isle became a desert it got too hot during the day so instead they adapted to be awake at night when it’s cooler?
I always thought Isle was under a long-lasting eclipse, since that's it looks like a black circle blocking out almost all of a white circle, like a total solar eclipse.
So because it was under a sort of eternal night, the Ancestors were forced to work in the night and adapt to it. It's a cool idea
why wouldn't that apply to the other realms do they not share the same sun and moon
idk, it's just very weird that the night sky in Isle looks exactly like an eclipse
maybe this also explains how there's different times of day and season throughout the realm : the sun and moon doesn't move at all ( untill the eclipse happens )
:3
Late to the party but thought to add to this.
Some games would use a foreign language to obscure the meaning as well as link some parts of the game (such as the elders and what they could theoretically represent) to a culture. Which leaves it up to players and fans to look into to learn more about the character.
According to a website that promotes Judaism,
"The letters and the words they form are holy, with layers of meaning from the literal to the mystical."
While this explains how a Hebrew name would be specific with letters that adds to the meaning. Such as an example, 'Abba' [אבא] which means 'father' while these symbols refer to a head of the house (for context, I am not a Hebrew speaker, nor of this culture. However, one can look these things up and source them. As long as the research is done thoroughly and responsibly).
The elders old names on the other hand have been used as placeholders by the devs. They have been clear on this and I take that as them not intending on appropriating the language. Therefore, those who would like the use the names can do so, though should take care to inform others who have not known the backstory.
I like to use the name as I like to think there may be a reason why a specific letter is used for each elder, as well as having a name to refer to them by.
And would assume others do so for similar reasons.
Current theory of Passage:
The Rituals of Passage serve as the rival/complement of the Prophecy Trials. The Trials aim to find a single chosen one, while the Rituals aim to teach the value of cooperation and teamwork.
For now, we can think of them as sort of a yin/yang thing.
This theory may sound vague, but we're only at the second quest.
Where can i read compiled lores?
I wanna know sky's lore to spread the story ingame with moths and friends. I wanna know the elders names, the origin of each realms etc.. if anykne knows a site pls lmk 🙏
Sky lore is pretty ambiguous and opened ended though, which is intentional. The elder names beside from what is seen ingame are a fannon thing too, there is this basic lore doc by baud: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit but other than that stuff is very open to interpretation (like most but not everything)
idk if this counts as a spoiler just something i noticed: is the vortex of darkness getting less polluted? i've had to collect less trash lately in comparison to the first time i did that activity when there were tons of sticks and nets etc. now it's just a few nets. Just something interesting i noticed!
oh yea!
I think there's also less trash swimming around
tho the idiot dugong babies are still getting caught
yeah hehe they're just very little xD
are the dugong babies the baby manatees?
yea!
ouppies!!
OUPPIES
i had another theory that Prophecy and Passage both pick up strayed children for their initial goal:
Prophecy trials aims to find only one individual worthy to hold nature's raw power, with the prophecy training them till their adulthood in which every participants is on their own
Passage rituals aim for the participants to learn to be cooperative and friendly to others and that teamworks can help get through anything, or metaphorically the darkness
They're not completely rival or link to each other in anyway, rather Prophecy is the hard way but has great outcome while Passage is the easy way but is always afraid of the darkness
Hm, that's certainly something to consider!
The second quest is bothering me. I feel like something's been hiding from us from the start.
Is all that darkness completely natural, or did The Mask create/enhance it?
What are those red eyes/sparks in the darkness of the 2nd ritual?
i think it’s like a memory of these 👀 #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Huh, crabs
Imagine if they came out of nowhere and kidnapped us out of the sheeple flock!
Thank you!
passage does have a lot of ties to the animation trailers so there's a good chance it's those crabs
i thought so too! i can only hope that this season might be leading up to something
Maybe my prayers have been answered and TGC will finally give us more elder lore!
PLEASE IM CRAVING ELDER LORE
it will be a uproar if not XD
Sky kids going on strike!
“Sky kids terrorizing spirits, crabs, everywhere! This is all the chaos”
XD
As much as I’d love elder lore I’m honestly leaning more to the animation coming out during the end of the season. Since we now have 2 instances (1 clear as day and one speculating) of references to it
We don’t even know what the animation project is or how long it’ll be, it could come in a few weeks or a few years
Ya I know I’m just getting my hopes up from the two subtle refrenes and all, if we don’t get anything then
more waiting
It is possible that the season is leading up to the release, but it could also be here to add more lore that connects the animation project to the game more
Yaya that too, would be cute to think of crabs just appearing in the forest at night
i also hope we get the animation
“coming soon” 🧍🏻♀️ thanks that could be literally any time
the ouppies resembling the animation trailer as well is also susfishous
Yeah
Adding a whole new creature feels very important
YAYAY
THIS IS THE SAME LAD
Hi ceasing
This has bothered me so bad ever since the teaser first came out. Like… I WILL be sad if the project gets released in a year’s time I won’t deny it but I just want a date at this point
TGC please I want to see the kiddo bonding with the Ouppy and helping it regain it’s strength
Yea like i’ll believe it when i see it
sky cotl anniversary dont blow this for us (hoping for animation project and/or art book)
omg hi Slink I love your Hunter pfp, they look like a plushie. Are they a plushie?
yes
Amazing
Rain World my beloved. I’d probably suck at the game if I ever were to play it but it’s silly little Scugs and it’s very deep lore has enraptured me.
YES
DPIN DPIN
Oh my goodness I love rain world. I’m on the saint campaign rn and I’m crying
Oh have fun! Saint is one of my favs :3
@ebon yacht
lol what 💀
,, did they join the server just to ping someone randomly and then leave?
strangeness
Sometimes I like checking in to see what new people have replaced the old.
It's very nice.
Also, there's like 2 other Stregas now-
Welcome to #lore-discussion-spoilers, 3seagrass!
I’ve noticed something about the music of the animation project. It seems like it was composed by Vincent Diamante, but he is “taking a break” from making music for Sky.
That probably means that he has already finished all the music of the Animation Project, so it’s probably coming soon
what in the underworld? 🤡
Sweet I’m excited to see the lore possibility and who knows maybe we will get a better idea of the KING or PINCE
Hey i wonder if they will show us Eden AHHHH all the possibilities!
I wonder if ancestors would do moves similar to real world animals, like diving like a peregrine falcon or hovering like humming birds
I would consider them flightless animals but they may well be
does anyone know or have any information on their masked fluffy creatures from the current season?
I'm very curious on them, their sooo cute i heard they have no name but i thought i'd ask
When teased, I thought they could have been nature spirit that either the game would have the player gather. Similar to other quests of collecting fragments, combined with the mechanic to guide spirit memories by the hand.
Turns out in the quest, these are likely a reskin of a player similar to the concert cloth skykid models.
On the one hand, they look nifty.
Though have personally been left scratching my head on what they could mean in the game's lore.
Either they are like echoes, or random forest spirits your skykid would meet. And the devs take advantage of the concert feature to let strangers play that role.
Or it could be just the devs re-flavouring the stranger models for the quests instead of using the simplified 'cloth' models.
Which I presume is the devs' way of being able to show how many players are in a given instance, while working around the limitation I take is the game has trouble reliably running that many skykids at once. By simplifying all their models and animations, the game can afford to run with more skykids in the same instance.
Back to the fluffy masked forest spirit theory. I would like to compare them to the tree spirits from Princess Monoke. Which were suggested in the film to indicate the forest is healthy, that they are harmless albeit unsettling to some humans.
To end off this random thought.
If these masked spirits in Sky were to be similar to the tree spirit in the Ghibli film. Then the guiding mask's light protecting them (as well as our own skykids) from darkness would be a telling piece of lore about darkness in Sky.
That without light to keep darkness at bay, creatures of the light would be smothered by the darkness.
Suppose the prospectors back then were careless in taking the resources from the ground, or desecrating the forest with littering the place. Perhaps that helped the darkness take hold??
Frankly, I would link this quest to that of Aurora's quest in the caves. Where we see the prospector spirits mining the dark stone crystals.
Seeing they are in the same realm, both involve prospectors and the environment being harmed in the process of them mining out the dark stone.
What if the dark stones were once able to absorb darkness, and thus maintaining the balance in favour of the Light? But when the ancestors saw it can also absorb light, they upset the balance, destroyed the harmony, and allowed darkness to flourish with no dark stone to keep it at bay.
They're random players ! I like to think this is due to the mask you wear during the quests
This is more suited for #questions-and-help but it has been typically followed by the anniversary in the past
It is best to ask in #questions-and-help for that.
Rainbow
wait was it not announced yet ?
if it's beta stuff maybe don't talk about that outside of the beta channels
I don't remember hearing anything about Days of Events after Nature but I'm going to assumethat's a beta thing so let's stop talking about it
tomayto-tomahto.
Both are very colourful titles
Idk
hey guys check out this cool bird
omg Spin Dancer bird
Spin Dancer's fursona
tons of spirits having bird masks is so fun cause you can try n search for what type of bird it is n learn a bunch of cool stuff abt neat birds you mightve never heard abt i know i didn’t know abt royal flycatchers till seeing spin dance
YOO the crest and tail feathers on that bird omg
oh this is so clever, I thought spin dancer was a peacock !
peacock also fits very well too!! those fellas are funky (VERY LOUD BIRDS THOUGH)
idk if Spin Dancer has a prescribed fursona but their hair resembles this bird's crown
how long is the tail pls tell me there's images
Wonder how a peacock in sky would look like
Or a swan (I know that bird is close to light creature colours already, but still)
Lol, what of an ostrich?
That would likely be one of the gooffiest birds.
Ash said Dancing Performer's mask was a pigeon so I headcanon they were travelling a lot and came back home to the village of dreams to retire, like homing pigeons always return :]
no pic focusing directly on the tail on hand rn but
omg that’s such a nice idea
putting it into pile of stuff i tjink is neat
what's this majestic creature called?
try to beat a three-wattled bellbird tho, these guys are unreal
royal flycatcher!! all species in the genus have that crest of feathers
the ones in the pics i sent seem to b pacific flycatchers to b specific
i love bellbird
Almost got two spirits mixed up about the pigeon comment.
It was for Provoking Performer's mask.
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Spinning mentor's was something else.
love your hair, lil dude
greater prairie chickens in daylight prairie when
BNUYY
i think king vultures would make for very interesting masks, maybe something you're not sure of the specie like gratitude ones
thinking of prairie with. Actual prairie wildlife now n spinning the concept in my head microwave style
from Wikipedia
The greater prairie chicken or pinnated grouse, sometimes called a boomer
HELP
Should tgc consider adding back the bird of light at the start of the game in Light Awaits?
Because seeing this barn owl looking creature guide skykids would be magical.
YEAH THEY MAKE THESE BOOMING SORTA SOUNDS IIRC ITS RLLY COOL
alasdair i think you'd like these as masks
we need more animal masks with facial hair
Lemmergeier oml
spoonbills on the mind now love those pink freaks (affectionate)
spoonbills are soooo funky, imagining light flamingos
ik their coloration is not pigment they product themselves but from red/orange clay they rub on their feathers. decorative beasts
light flamingos………………….
you explore a new area themed around light creatures and see these feeding on baby krills
flamingos can survive in harsh environments, like hella salty salt lakes, so they could be among the first birds to repopulate toxic areas in Wasteland
YEAH THEY SEEK OUT WATER SPRINGS RICH IN IRON !!!!
THATS SO COOL !!!
Imagine ancestors following these to find darkstone
omg wait wait wait since flamingos get their coloring from shrimp n algae what if in sky their coloration was dark actually
dark light creatures...
goth flamingo real;;;
they hatch with the white gray color normal flamingo chicks have but as they get older n feed on krill n stuff that’s when they get darker
also i love how flamingos are often found in very tight flocks like this, social fellas
the goofy
makes me think of
marabou storks…….
fun fact about flamingoes.
They eat algea and brine shrimp.
Interesting thing is, brine shrimp are the tiny feathery creatures. Not the cocktails ones.
OH KRII ANOTHER FUNKY RED BIRD
scarlet ibis
you got the whole symbolism with them so i bet they'd inspire cool masks too
YOOO
so vividly red
i saw some at the aviary they are so so red
they're the illustration for "red" in the dictionnary
i always see a ton of white ibis here so seeing such a bright red is bonkers omg
there were inca terns too, these guys would inspire fine mustache masks
they remind me of emperor penguins
Question about birds in Sky.
What would folks suggest the many flocks of birds we see the game to be?
Would they be doves, pigeons, swallows?
Or just a generalised and simple bird model that looks like a paper plane with flappy wings?
These ? I guess it's the colors
red bird thing reminded me of sula sula love these fellas n the colors on their face
Welp...
I can see that I am not welcome here.
makes me think of eudyptes tbh, bc of the eyebrows looking like their mustaches
THE ONES WITH BLUE FEET ARE EVERYTHING
Will be back when more folks are online and want to talk about lore.
And not blatantly ignore someone with spamming bird things.
Hope all is well with you. ❤️
you should look up painted buntings, they are straight up from a kid's coloring book
ah I got the name wrong, yea that's the penguin I was thinking of.
oh my god im going to go feral
gannets straight up look like light creatures fr
they even got the colors down
so true
if they didn't want us to talk about birds they shouldn't have made so many bird masks
ayo, Crane Wives pfp – based 🤘
omg wait have y’all seen the yellow king penguin with leucism
OH MY GOD
shoutout to nature photographers for risking it all to provide us nerds with prime autism material, i owe them my life
there's so many animals irl, TGC doesn't have to change their color palette much to put them in the game
Honestly I remember someone saying the fauna may have been so much more vast but whatever happened to get the ancestors thanosed out of existence may have destroyed the ecosystem enough for just a few things to survive
and it makes me sad. but imagine seeing long gone creatures in the light, things you could never see again down below
the Eden calamity seems like a prime mass extinction event on top of the ancestors gathering light creatures to fuel their darkstone technology
yeah i bet only the creatures that somehow escaped or were too numerous to truly be gone survived; hell we only see two-three whales in the game so even what's left is still heavily scarred
sky paleontology WHEN
or even creatures whose food sources weren't obliterated
do we know what they eat ? i headcanon light blooms and eachother but nothing backed up by canon observations
musbroom 💞
even if light creatures didn't eat each the Eden calamity decreased the amount of light in the world and if light creatures ate light, whether in the form of flora or whatever fell from the skies, then that's much less of a food source around.
for instance, there are petrified light blooms in Forest that would be inaccessible to whatever animals ate them or used them to recharge or as shelter.
it could be that maybe the other light creatures weren't needed by most species but could be used if other sources of light were hard to find. like some real life animals that normally eat plants turning on to other creatures if the plants are scarce and they were hungry enough
food chain in sky when
I think Ancestors could have eaten candlelight, or a processed form of it
Light brick /j
Man we really could use some canon food
I mean we have the oranges but that's event
There's the Granny buns but for all we know that's a special formulation for skykids and it's not an ancestor food
I would say that Granny's food would be based off something that ancestors ate. ik there was a quip somewhere that called skykids' favorite food "light mochi" and mochi comes in a lot of varieties. Granny just made the "light" variety
Actually you gave me a really interesting idea from this thank u
I like the way you think!
I haven’t even elaborated
I like the way you think!
Idk if i’m understanding what you say right but i think it’d be cool if some skykids could call down ancient light creatures that they have some kind of connection to
and thats all for todays episode!
Were y'all talking about aminals?? 👀👀
Ok but like what if there were amphibians in sky 🤔 Where do y'all think they'd be located? In their own lil place or a certain realm? I think they'd be somewhere in forest. 😊
Well. There is a frog in the Skycord at least.
Just check out Boon's role.
Where did Boon's sky frog go?
Needs to come to the game asap 🥺
Is the point of no return chamber at the peak of eden
That's a fair point.
Maybe we'll see what mochi-for-ancestors ingredients look like
Rice farm in sky when?
Adding that to the list of things Granny's dish could be like.
Boa Buns, Marshmallow, cake ball, Meringue, Rice ball, mozzarella ball (or any cheese ball), and so on.
Wonder what other edible creations could one think of that Granny's meals be of?
Peeled lychee /hj
bobbit arrives in hopes to consume the chat, will the bobbit succeed??
You hath summoned an ancient Bobbit.
Now what?

Sky season of War when?
when the BOBBIT uses INTIMIDATE i will create the war out of fear, abyss truly shook me
also i love the new profile picture raider it looks so cool ^^
The big guy would surely end any war by just yawning, lol.
the slightest movement and the skykids will stick waterproof mochis into the door mechanisms
thank you ^^
It was from a picrew.
Only critic for it is having the option to layer background elements.
I can dm you the link if you like to try. ❤️
Points for creativity
thank you i would :DDD i have a friend and we both like creating picrews of eachother it would be nice to try that one out
I don't know if this can be considered lore but-
The Days of Nature promo had a bit where the skykid would scold Angler, implying that they threw the sea trash. However, in the actual game, Angler doesn't know whose sea trash it is. Did the skykid reach the wrong conclusion, or is Angler lying?
I would say it is lore, you are ok ❤️
The ancestor were proven to have been responsible for being careless and polluting the realms in the past.
While the Angler specifically could, or could not have been responsible. I would say the skykid scolding a ancestors is symbolic.
Which, depending on how you look at it would excuse the Angler, but refer to the ancestors in general.
Besides, the angler did not want to, or could not help, so the skykids could be a bit disgruntled at that.
That said, should the sky puppies not stick around after the event ends. I would be just as upset at the devs for not letting us skykids have puppies at the Sanctuary island.
Especially since they would disappear after the quest is completed.
If you wanna be semantic about it, Krills are amphibians, since they live both in land and in water
ooh true.
crabs too.
Also mantas
Since Skykids rarely use fishing equipment, the trash probably belonged to a group of fishers from long past. The Skykid scolding is probably them scolding at the Ancestors collectively for making it this bad.
What are some theories I am curious
hm?
I’m just curious on others theories
Like do manta have feathers or scales or flesh? And what is everyone’s view on past animals In sky if there were past animals that have gone extinct from the crystal then why and how did manta survive?
Hmm...
Personally, mantas are would have a velvety skin that is similar to scales.
As for extinct animals, I would suppose an elder bird since it made 1 appearance and has not returned since the ending of season of Rhythm.
Another creature could be a deer, if considering concept art. Even jf it did not make any appearances in the game.
Lorewise, I am not sure which creatures are canoncially extinct.
Unless you would propose the animals on masks are evidence of animals that once existed in the lore of sky.
Yeah their skin is very silky looking, and yeah I do think animals on masks could have something to do with them being in the game. Where else would they get these pictures from?

What do you think?
I'd say that TGC has put a lot of thought into the worldbuilding that they either were having trouble fully implimenting in the game, or were limited, wanted to save for a later season or even for the animation project.
Mostly because it could possibly be that the team wanted to show much more of the world and the animation project presented the opportunity.
As for the animals, it is very likely either the ancestors somehow knew of animals that are from earth (ex. lion, tiger, bull, bear, deer etc.) Or the ancestors had creatures that resemble thatvof eartg animals.
Hence the name manta, bird and crab and not a name that could imply a different language.
This is difficult to prove though. Since the game has set the trend that animals would be called things that are recognised on earth.
Such as a flying flat creature with a tail baing called a manta and not something else like for example, a wingflapper (joke name).
The short answer is this.
The lore is open to interpretation.
Therefore, one can suggest that Sky could have for example Lions that once lived in the grassy plains near Daylight Prairie.
Even though there is little to no in game evidence to support that at all, other than there being a Lion mask and assuming a lion would likely live in the sunny planes of Day.
Yeah that makes sense I guess it’s so confusing haha
Would the animal masks of animals that we don't see in the game imply that there are various extinct species we don't get to see, that Sky has its own mythology based on those animals, or a little bit of both?
That, or they do exist.
Just not in the online game.
...Not Deep Enough....
exactly, as soon as i complete void i will make a image abt that but idk why it keeps bugging qwq anywasys bye. goes away on a krill
Hey guys, was wondering what y'all have deduced about the current season
Oh I just saw the tail end of the animal discussion. Imo its entirely possible that the region where Sky takes place in is simply isolated/seperate from the rest of the world where those animals could potentially live. Isle of Dawn is seemingly very isolated but unless the Sky world is that small there usrely must be more beyond the currently explored lands.
The different realms are directly comnected to each other but I think the lands is like, a giant island chain or archipelago with mountains. There doesn't seem to be a mainland/continent as we know them, those are likely beyond the oceans. Lots of places around the world irl have locations that have animals that aren't found anywhere else in the world.
true
Why the ancestors have gun yet still use spears and swords in war?
Go you mean a harpoon? Like the one cannoneer has?
Perhaps the time period in Sky is a fantastical version of the Golden age.
Where weapons like harpoon guns existed alongside canons, spears, catapults, battle-axes, swords and shields.
To be fair, this is also a world where you get flying stone boats, laser canon (in concept art), and portals.
Their evolution of technology would likely have taken wacky turns and was spotty in some realms.
That’s a harpoon gun, not really used for combat
Ooo I didn't know what it called in English and thought it was some kind of gun version of their spear
*googling Oh yes it wasn't used in combat
Maybe Cannoneer used it to hunt shrimps for lunch
Seeing it is krill infested waters. Suppose Cannoneer's job was to fend off hostile creatures on the ship at sea.
That, or for hunting as you suggested 👍
Thanks for clarifying and you are ok.
I know some places call them harpoon guns, so it is happens.
I don't know if this was discussed or not but does anyone know which realm had war with GW? And why did it start at all?
It was discussed before, but it is ok to go over it again with folks who are new or have something new to look into.
You are ok. ❤️
Canonically, it is unclear who was fighting who and why.
There is speculation and theories that vary from different realms (Valley vs Wasteland), to two sides the ancestors sided with (power diamonds vs the Light).
In the end, the war was devastating to say the least.
The most common theory here so far is that it was with Valley! However, it’s not strictly confirmed, with the other option being Wastelanders (as in it was strictly an uprising contained within the realm). I can get into the evidence if you’d like
As to why it started, we are much more sure on that. Without getting into too much detail, it likely started over the usage of ‘darkstone’ which is a fan term for the blue-gray crystals you light with your candle to start various mechanisms. You may also have noticed them as the centerpiece of shared spaces. Unfortunately, ancestors didn’t have candles like we do, and used light creatures’ (typically mantas or butterflies) light to charge the mechanisms instead. The process involved hurting and often killing the animals in question, as well as keeping them captive, and ended up wrecking the environment more and more over time due to its waste products, hence why Wasteland looks like that. It’s easy to see why it became so controversial.
I can get into evidence if you’d like, but it would certainly take a while, so I hope this summary helps!
Oh, I didn't know about hurting creatures thing, that's new! Thank you all for your answers, I think I get it now
No problem! :3
Just rambling a bit.
Reading an old theory from ricekripsy. This user has been in the game and chat since 2019.
Something they said raised an interesting question when compared. To what we have in the game today.
For reference, this is the theory I am working off: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
What kripsy said, Eden has/had the sun symbol, while the wasteland has diamonds.
They elaborated with hypothesizing if Eden would send soldiers to the golden kingdom after the war to pick survivors.
While the last part is possible. The lore was open to interpretation then and still is now, let's go over what we have in the current world of Sky.
There is a battlefield where the diamond shields are away from the temple while the sun shields are at the entrance of the temple.
Diamond shields were kite shaped and held swords, while the sun shields are rounded and have spears.
Looking at the battle from an objective stance, we know the diamonds were fighting towards the temple, while the sun shields either defended the temple or were pushing the diamond shields away. It is honestly unclear which case this would truly when coupled with the information that the temple has a diamond symbol, not a rounded disc.
Not to mention the elder of the Golden Wasteland.
The elder could have possibly been fighting for the diamonds because their shield was kite shaped in murals and the constellation. Whereas the elder's actual shield is rounded.
We know there is another shield that is like the elder's aside from the ones in the battlefield, which is the entrance to Eden.
Suppose that the elder traded sides, it would explain why the elder was also seen charging near the temple in their Vault mural.
Looking at the memories from season of Aurora, we know the war was hectic. Some spirits like seed of hope was seemingly a neutral party. How so, the weapons are much larger, implying a different kind of warriors fighting, even though we dont see them.
While the concert did show ancestors fighting, we know from that and the seed of hope's memory that mantas were part of the war since some where shown being attacked. Suppose they were air support mounts. And killing them would leave their riders grounded and vulnerable.
While creatures like the Krill were seemingly an uncontrollable threat. Since they would attack any light creature and in seed of Hope's memory showed ancestors attacking them.
It would be interesting to see what more of the lore would be revealed about the war in Sky.
thus far, there is a lot of theories from many users.
The diamond symbol on the Wasteland temple also doubles as an uncommon symbol for elders; that’s likely why it’s on the temple. It was once visible on the Valley temple as well but was covered up by the recent Aurora murals — a more famous instance of it would be on the icons for the elder ult gifts (in their bottom left iirc). To my knowledge no other cosmetics, Ultimate or otherwise, bear it.
Interestingly, that symbol may be a reference to the diamonds on Elders’ chests — a feature we share with them — or a mirror of the ‘stars’ they are sometimes referred to as.
Forest elder's temple has plenty of diamonds though
Not to mention the headpiece of Vault and in their realm.
That is very true! Unfortunately, I don’t get how that’s relevant to what I’m saying, please explain?
i've mentioned this multiple times when we bring up the shields, the reason why Dusk has the wrong shield shape in murals is likely just due to trying to convey "this is a shield!" and/or from a time in development where said shields weren't distinguished by the overall shape and simply hasn't been updated. it does not mean that Dusk was on the side of the diamond shields.
The symbols on the shields seem to be more constant and a more reliable giveaway than the shields’ shape or the weapons nearby as well; you can see a sun shield next to Dusk’s altar too
diamond symbolism is also found throughout Valley, so really we can't credit the diamond to representing only the Elders or only power diamonds.
if we were to take the diamond symbol to represent darkstone technology, then it's likely much more relevant than Dusk Elder holds a shield with a sun on it rather than how they're represented in constellations that haven't been updated in almost four years
The diamond symbol I’m talking about is a very specific diamond with a dot in the middle; it’s not the same as other diamond symbols — trying to track down a photo rn
yooooooo I just had the dumbest but possibly cool idea for the reasoning behind the spears and shields being so big
"The diamond symbol on the Wasteland temple also doubles as an uncommon symbol for elders"
Practically every elder has a diamond symbol on their person.
Some seasonal cosmetic masks would have diamonds on their foreheads as well.
Note that I do not intend to argue.
Simply point out and talk about lore.
Okay, hear me out. Giant mechas operated by Ancestors.
disagreements aren't arguements
"disagreements aren't arguements"
Truer words have never been spoken.
then why are you implying to us disagreeing with you is arguing?
I dont plan on going into semantics on why X says Y.
lets carry on with the lore, shall we?
I did end up misremembering and would like to apologize to all if I was accidentally misleading, but I hope you can see the slight difference between these two symbols here! I was talking about the second one with the impression that the first resembled it more than it actually does.
you are ok.
Interestingly, the small symbol at the base of the forest temple was updated to look more like a diamond.
That specific symbol is on multiple other places, including the tent drapes added to the Colosseum during Season of Aurora. Oddly enough, it might not always mean diamonds, although I’m open to discussion on how it could mean that here.
I would also like to add a quick reminder that even though Wasteland may have taken a stand against darkstone in later years, leading to the war, in the original idea I stated that this was due to its creatures and environemnt and people being unequally exploited to charge it. If this is true, and it likely is judging by the two refineries we can see within the realm, it would make sense for diamond symbols to still be present.
This feels like a very “curtains are just blue” interpretation, it would make sense for the Wasteland Elder to use a kite-shaped shield early in the realm’s history, since the negative effects of darkstone wouldn’t be used, but eventually wield a circular shield as time went on.
The trouble is that at the time when the negative effects of darkstone wouldn’t be widespread, would there really be any war?
The closest thing would probably be fighting krills to keep them at bay but since this time period is by definition imagined as when darkstone hasn’t caused a lot of harm, and darkstone pollution is how krills are created, that would be a bit in the future
It would all depend on, sigh, the timeline
Yes; thankfully this problem is easy to think through!
this is a good gif
