Krill don’t have any armor/chains draped over them or anything, correct? Why do they make metallic sounds when they move?

#

Their body segments making contact seem to be making that noise and last I checked, they have nothing on them that should be making that sound. I feel like it should be more of a hard leathery noise? But it literally sounds like large pieces of iron instead? Except they can’t be made of metal because that’d imply they were created

nimble ingot
#

Dragons can be known to have hard scaley bodies. If not a material that can be compared to metal.

I interpreted the sound being the legs clanking among themselves.

There are theories that go over them being artificial, armoured or even made of metal (be it a creation or its nature).

The announcement post might give a clue. It says:

Running Wayfarer

Here you stand with memories tossed by ocean waves, cut on stones along a path that promised a place to mend.

(In my opinion, this spirit had a rough voyage of the sea, and ran to the Isle temple to try to mend themselves

And here you stand with your offering: Memories of a heart that was wounded but never abandoned its longing for the light of a new horizon.

There are 4 theories about Running Wayfarer’s origin:

  1. The stars. They were created by the stars like every other spirit, but the experience was rough.

  2. Home, which would explain the unknown place directly south of Isle

  3. Golden Wasteland, which could make sense given how horrific that place has become

  4. Somewhere beyond, which is interesting but also unlikely

It is confirmed that they were corrupted.
Therefore, one can assume they were once called Light Dragons.

The name Krill is a nickname given to them by fans of the game. The devs use it in the game as well alongside Dark Dragons.

There is a hint to when it could be releasing:

Vincent Diamante was the primary composer of Sky all the way from its beginning to early 2023, where he announced he was “taking a break from Sky”. We don’t know how long this will be, from a few months to indefinite.

We hear music that is like his style in the 2021 Switch Trailer, which can mean one of many things:

  1. There is a separate, secret composer that is impersonating Diamante’s music for the Switch Trailer (unlikely)
  2. Diamante himself will make the music to the animation project when he returns, which means that the animation project will not come for a long time
  3. Vincent Diamante composed all the music relating to the Animation Project before he left. This is the likeliest theory and implies that the Animation Project is coming soon.

Sooo first, what is the meaning of eden? Is it the god that can change the world that has 1 eye or its about other mythology about that eden is the rebirth place? Or the two of them

#

Okay the god with one eye is called Odin, not Eden hm, anyway I kinds of feel as its God's realm like every realm has its own god, the vault is = the god of knowledge, the valley is = the gods of battle or war, etc but the eye of Eden is like god of chaos, and that when we die we transfer into where eden keep the wings in or the power in, & the wings in the world or realms r wings that run out of Eden prison, btw eden prison is the place where u end up after fallen lights quest or eye of Eden quest, anyway when u rebirth u can see a red candle at the end of the cutscene its like saying we will still begin rebirth till the last light in this world turn off

Im talking about mythologies the place where this game took there lore from or like taking some idea's from, most games did it

I drew this drawing before, u guys can check a simple concept I'm thinking of about the rebirth and the loop of dying and that Eden will never be beaten but just begin refreshed or like the world will rebirth again every day and every week

nimble ingot
#

The 'gods' of Sky is a bit different than mythological gods.

The elders rule over their respective realms. Each one is also represents an element.
The Dawn elder for example (nicknamed Daleth) is considered to be a ferryman, who is able to guide birds and boats.
The boats detail is a bit obscure as the game itself does not directly show this. The feature came from an older version of the game (light Awaits) where the old cutscene showed the elder raising boats for skykids to use. Despite this being changed, it seemingly still applies based on the boats parked outside of the temple.

Other deities in sky would be the Bird of Light, Megabird. A colossal being made of Light and supposedly is the giver of Light and in Sky.
The being is also characterised with Aurora's voice and singing in the season of Aurora. We know very little about this deity, and yet have a good amount of evidence for its existence throughout the history of the game.

There is also speculation on whether the King (the lost Eden Elder that is not present in the game) may be either a god themselves, or have a connection to Megabird. This is based on the few evidence we have on the King, and thier association with Dark stone Diamonds, as well as with the life cycle.

There is plenty to unpack in the lore, though hope this short dive into it helps.

The loop idea reminds me of a mobius strip.
You go in circles, and yet end up in different places.

A mobius stripe is a circle with a twist (literally). If you trace a line on one side of the paper, you realise that you have to go around the loop twice to reach the starting point instead of just once like a normal loop. Not to mention, the same line manages to cross over to the other side of the paper without breaking.

In terms of skykids upon being reborn for the first time. The game tells you, "the real Journey start here..."
Meaning, eventhough you complete all the realms, you have yet to complete the game in its entirety. And even for those who were in the game since the beginning, no skykids has truly found the end of the game.
As you reach the end, you are reborn and send back to the start.
Thus completing the loop and yet you return stronger than what you were the last time.

Which would explain why there is no obvious villian, if at all. And the focus on kindness and connecting with each other.

Almost like in Howl's moving castle, even with the most magically powerful wizards and witches in the land. It took a young hat maker and her determination to figuratively and literally end an entire war.

Or even Spirited away with the main character acting more like a visitor of a strange and yet exciting world. While the child did act as a hero in the story, it was not before the child was able to build up the courage to do so with the friends they made along the way.

# nimble ingot ye, the devs did go over a few options before settling on the dark skinned look....

I really love the full black galatic-ish concept from the first image, although I understand the customization would’ve been harder if they used that concept.

I also dig the ancestor child ones, creepy? Maybe, but I love creepy looks ngl hahaa

Another interesting one (mostly palette) is the blue-gray + light blue hair convo. It’s an unnatural skin color and gives this layer of otherworldly, like a ghost or something non-human.

I always love seeing concepts arts from such artistic games like these, they’re very interesting and inspiring to see. The whole creative process and brainstorm, as an artist myself :D

nimble ingot
#

As how I understood the intentions of the devs. The skin colour is intentional for any player to enjoy the game. No matter where they are from, their ethnicity, or culture.

This creates a sense of universal culture, while it not looking to 'alien'.
Case and point would be the James Cameron Avatars as an example. While the Navi are fantastic, their blue skin makes it less relatable as human as a skin colour like that of Sky characters.

rain harbor
#

My skykid looks a bit creepy already too so ancestor concepts probably my favorites hehe

#

Ohh I see, that makes plenty sense. I think I’ve heard that statement somewhere but now it is refreshed again. I’d say they succeeded. I don’t imagine my skykid as a certain ethnicity, just a being that looks adorable. I think the emotes mechanic helps a lot with them being relatable

nimble ingot
#

I like how the more you play, the more animated your skykid becomes.
As if they develop a personality as they make more memories.

A personal opinion I have on moth skykids are they like a blank canvas. They dont respond much, dont know much, but they are still resilient, innocent and willing to learn.

The devs have done very well with how much variety you can have with skykids, even though you start with a moth.

A skykid's path is like a line in the sand.
You can never tell where it starts, nor know where it goes.

The only way you know where to go is by looking at the stars.
Knowing where you are is knowing where you were. And by knowing where you came from, you can tell where you are heading.

This parallels a plot point in the game Journey. (Spoilers for Journey) ||there are man-made machines that are like giant serpentine dragons; their bodies are segmented into little cages, they have metal maws, and they have a bright glowing spotlight that acts as their vision. They were created to capture and transport the fabric light creatures that exist in the world. They were also used as war-machines to capture the light that belonged to other people when the light-based power source was scarce between societies/people. After the civilization disappeared, the metal monsters roam the land freely, consuming any and all light creatures they see.||

There appears to be many concepts and characters that were carried over to Sky from Journey. Having played Journey before Sky, seeing the similarities and parallels was incredible for me. 🥹

Like I can definitely see them in the stage or using natural dyes, but also possibly using a technique called Batik; which is basically putting wax on clothing so that certain piece of dye won’t be colored, which could totally work in the sky verse

Hi guys! I’ve been thinking… is it possible for Sky and Journey to be connected? I have a character I made with the Journey pack cosmetics and I’ve been making lore about him. I’ve been calling him “The Ancestor” because for a while I had a headcannon that the games are connected- that the travelers might’ve been either a predecessor to the modern people of sky or have been long dead before they came around. But now that I think about it, the world of Journey was pretty lifeless and there’s not much to link the two worlds except the plot beats, some of the technology and how the enemies act similar. I might change my character’s name to “Traveler” instead.

cold sparrow
#

canonically, most likely not
there's little to confirm this, aside from it being two games made by the same dev and playing with similar themes
but if that's something you'd like to imagine for your character or just to theorize, there's nothing stopping you

lusty merlin
#

Sadly no, Jenova Chen who directed both sky and journey in an IGN interview (this one: https://youtu.be/4zJdF0z2ppU)

Said: “Like Journey is a finished product. There's nothing more I want to add to it. Where Sky is ongoing game you know.”

So the games aren’t connected but like what rooty said, there’s nothing stopping you for connecting them if you want to

autumn tulip
#

Yea, I thought as much! I think I may headcanon that they take place in the same universe, but just from different worlds. They both have strong connections with rebirth from the stars, so perhaps a traveler strayed from their path?

nimble ingot
# autumn tulip Hi guys! I’ve been thinking… is it possible for Sky and Journey to be connected?...

(Original message got nuked. rip. Will post without source links)
Q: Would Sky and Journey be in the same universe?
A: No. TGC has explained that Sky is an spiritual successor of Journey.
Source: IGN interview

Meaning: The games may be similar in theme and style. Because they were made by the same company and have similar ideas (a character journeying to the top of a mountain, in a world with a fallen civilisation that had powerful technology)

A notable difference between the two games would be the storytelling.
Journey followed the Hero's Journey (the monomyth), which is philosophically driven and emotionally impactful. While Sky is emotionally driven and uses the Collective Storytelling.
Collective Journey source: medium.com - transformative media: from the hero's journey to our collective journey
And emotional story telling source: YouTube video by GDC

All of that said, what about in fanon?
Yes and no. It is absolutely up to you on how you want to tell the story of Sky.

Based on all other interactions with past season spirits. There is a 99% chance the guide is sentient. Since it is able to interact with skykids and show memories.

The bigger question is, what happened to them?
They are broken. The pieces have been flung across the kingdoms of Sky and yet us skykids were never able to fulfill the wish of that ancestor guide, other than learning about the memories of a past we were never part of and yet have a strong connection to them (through our ability to cleanse the darkness from the shards)

While we may not have learned who or what the spirits in that season were. We know 4 fragments/lights represented different creatures (jellyfish, manta, dark plant and krill), while the guide is likely the Eden Crystal itself.

That said, one can at the very least confirm there is one ancestor spirit in Eden. And they are trapped in the Crystal.

There are theories that suggest this could be the Sky prince (Alef), not to be confused for the Little Prince.

Other theories suggest this could be a piece of the King, our own skykid's other half, or the light piece of another skykid. Including more speculation.

Short answer: We do not know for sure.

grim horizon
crimson scarab

im personally in the camp of it being the prince, who is the same person as the king just before they got power hungry and caused the collapse. its one of those "dead person appears in a vision as their younger self before the Bad Time that killed them" kind of tropes

iirc they only show the prince in murals when him and the elders are rising to power/gaining the colored lights from prophecy, and then you stop seeing the prince in murals that depict later eras once the elders and king are at the height of their power

#

ive never seen the prince and the king in the same room together so they must be the same guy! lol

nimble ingot
#

Strangely enough. As far as I have known the game, the Sky prince was never shown in the game itself.
It could have been hinted around to be symbolic, or something. But there is a very small chance of the Prince shown in the game.

Virtually the only bit of evidence I have found is the similarity of the light kid saving our skykid (with a hug and giving us light), and the concept art.

You are not completely wrong.

That is why I say some theories this and that. Unless there is evidence to say otherwise (or I neglect to know something).

On the figure in prophecy cave. Some say it is a skykid, other say it is a winged light/star, others say it is the prince, or the young king, or the chosen one.

This has been revisited and updated as the season came and went, mind you. Hence the theories changing and adding into itself.

It is possible it could be a skykid when looking at the performance stage notes and passage memories.
But despite that, the theory is still up for speculation.

The Little Prince is a character from a different story (not native to Sky). As a part of the collab, the Little Prince can be seen as a guest visiting Sky, instead of a character that was vital to the history of the Kingdoms.

Compared the Little Prince, the sky Prince (Alef) was possibly just as small, just as determined, but also possibly faced death.
However, this is a hypothesis (headcanon).

What is important though is the Little Prince is most likely, if not absolutely, not the Sky Prince.

Butterflies are usually seen in pots throughout the game, so while they’re not directly seen, one could theorize that’s what the pots were delivering, or it could just be pottery trade <3

i think butterflies couldve been used for smaller things in terms of power when light creatures were first used, before the more larger ammount of light from bigger creatures was utilized (see abyss), i personally dont think mantas were used as food since we see them more for racing, pets, and later on energy, i think that was moreso fish (angler) and agriculture (farmer), but its possible!

i wonder if with the horse comparisons, “im so hungry i could eat a manta” was a saying

Adding on to the pot trade theory.
Recalling the memory of the laughing spirit, the ancestors also collected light orbs. Which they would catch with staffs.
These orbs would seemingly be stored in jars much like the jars we see stored in Day elder's (Ayin) temple. While those jars were storing butterflies, it is possible they can hold other things.

We can therefore add the light orbs on to that list of things we theorise the ancestors used to power the dark stone diamonds.

That and consider if other spirits may have also been in the light gathering trade.
Looking at the Hermit who has staffs stored in the cave (if I am not mistaken).

i think the hermit has axes? and then like, a flag
there's a lot of pots along one of the walls but i don't recall there being anything besides that

nimble ingot

Thinking about the forest temple door carvings....

2 boats arrive with vases. They pour the light in the vases into the temple. While 2 parts of trees are chopped down by ancestors and added to the forging of a power diamond.
What would the trees hold? Would it refer to mining the ground (dark stone). Or was it particularly the trees?

More on the vases.
They came from day by boat. The boats are seen traveling by the day temple from the waving spirit. We also know the laughing spirit showed us skykids how the ancestors gathered light.
Some of these vases were supposedly taken inside the cave (possibly storage until more boats come by?).
This came from the tired spirit that was moving the jars.

We know these jars can hold butterflies from the Day elder's cutscene. As well as in the forest cave where we burn the cover off some jars to release butterflies.
We also know these vases can come in different shapes and sizes.
From simple looking clay/stone box jars, golden diamond shaped jars, to even a variety of sizes and shapes of the clay/stone jars.

Wonder what other uses these jars had?
Were they sent to other temple/factories? What other things could they have powered?

I think that Ancestors don’t “eat” like humans do. They needed light to survive, so they used light creatures for sustenance, “absorbing” butterflies, fish, and candle wax.

nimble ingot

If Granny's meals were the same meals server to ancestors. We can assume they cooked.
Season of remembrance also showed ancestors drinking. Be it tea, coffee or even just boiled water.

That and days of blossom gave us a tea set and picnic set.

While ancestors could have ate food. Their diet would surely be different than a typical human's. Mostly because of the world they live in.

nimble ingot
# sterile orchid i think the hermit has *axes?* and then like, a flag there's a lot of pots along...

Looking at the hermit peak as I type this, there are 2 staffs.
The hang on the opposite wall of the banner/flag and axes.

I think the hermit was a light catcher, just like the laughing light catcher from Day.
Suppose the spirit could have had better luck catching light on a mountain than in the prairie.
That may explain why there were boats traveling all the way up there.

Aside from the convenience the boats gave to reach the top of the mountain, and access to the top to slide back down (possibly being a practice area for would be sliding racers.

The hermit could have had more than one carreer in their past life. (in theory)
A sliding coach, a tree chopper/lumberer (based on the axes), a warrior (again, axes), and light catcher.

Dictionary definition of a Hermit:

a person living in solitude as a religious discipline.

The hermit may have lived up there for a long time. But possibly decided to be more social as a spirit (that or recently chose to come out of their cave, or even lurk about the village while still being a hermit)

Note the full name is Bearhug Hermit.
The name can be seen as an oxymoron with a hug being a sociable action (usually with family or close friends) and hermit being a recluse (meaning to be apart and socially inactive).

Agreed.

Suppose they either have to fess up at some point. Or continue to drop pieces of the lore in the seasons. Or both SkyShrug

As for the crossovers.
We can theorise on parts of the season to be possibly canon (its better than nothing). While figuring out what other parts are from the collaborator.

For example, Aurora herself may not be canon, while we can see her as a guest or story teller.
What she represented is more likely to be canon than what she is (an insert character of a human singer).

Alright.

If TGC were to use their older games as inspiration for Sky. What would the other games have to offer to the lore?
We have entertained Journey a few times in here. But how about Flower?

#

Following up with this:
Would the theme in Flow also have some connections?
The game is understandably much simpler than journey and sky, but it does have its similarities.
It has blue, yellow, red, white and black as its colours.
It used orbs to represent how strong a creature is. The more orbs they have, the bigger/stronger they are.
Killing creatures sends you deeper into the darkness, while you can always go upwards into the golden light.

I'd like to think these orbs are similar to the stars/winged light in Sky. And the looping feature in the game and you being able to play different creatures in every cycle are similar to Sky. Albeit from a different perspective than that of a skykid.
Because skykids do not truly change into other creatures in different cycles. And cannot kill creatures.

hi so uh. i’m working on a writing project that is definitely more serious and in depth than certain other things i have done, mostly because i have too many headcanons about it to not write them down. thing is, some of those headcanons are heavily inspired by other people’s ideas, and i’m just wondering how i should go about giving credit where credit is due. like i don’t reference events that happened in any specific works besides canon, but there are major concepts that i definitely did not come up with myself and i just like them pWow also there are other things where it’s like, i did come to that conclusion myself, but i was definitely not the first and i don’t want to give the impression that i’m ripping anyone off? idk people who write things how do you guys handle stuff like this

lusty merlin
#

If you have a work cited I’d just put the names on whoever your taking inspo from, or atleast make it clear on what was inspired and such

#

But also just talk to whoever your writing this assignment for to see what needs to be done, and what you need to do. And just go from there

nimble ingot
#

Depending on if this would be posted somewhere publicly or is an academic assignment. You can take note of the people you have read their theories.
You dont have to give sources like an academic thesis (unless it is like that).

You are correct on the part where if you figure out a part of the lore, and then find out someone has done so in the past as well.
For what it is worth, you can write down your method on how you got to your point and mention that folks on the lore chat has done gotten to the same idea as well. This not only pays respect to people on the lorechat, but strengthens your theory as well.

If you know the person who you got the idea from specifically, then add their name to the notes.
You can perhaps look up keywords incase someone else has got the idea before, if need be.

And then mention if a piece of lore was either your own (or you worked your way to the same idea), or if you have seen someone else come to the same idea you did. Or give credit for adding someone else's theory/research to your writing.

Plagiarism is a terrible thing.
Stealing someone else's ideas is a shameful action. (IP - Intellectual property is something a person can copyright)

Giving credit to the person you got an idea from is common curtesy from one creator to another.
That, and is a good practice for writers and artists.

In regards to posting theories about a video game on a public forum. There is not much there to protect a person's IP (their theories and ideas).
Even while liv is doing this casually, I am very sure people would appreciate and love to be given credit for the work they did to make their theories. Even if it is just a mention.

since I've seen a number of takes rooted in the Sunset stabbing Dusk incident but with all their original spins on it. could I ask for credit? sure, but I don't believe with how those concepts have developed, that it would be warranted because that one idea was a seed to their own that is vastly different than my first concept.

you've might've heard this maxim before, but there really are no "original ideas." every idea is rooted, to some extent, to someone else's idea. think of all those stories that are basically retellings or reworks of fairytales that existed for centuries – if not, Disney wouldn't be so big. I have a lot of WIPs that began as fanfics. we take inspiration from every piece of media we consume or an event we experienced. again, it depends on the execution that makes something good or original, not the source idea.

The depicted animals - bear and raccoon - would imply something north american, but the rest of the aesthetic doesn't quite fit that of north american indigenous people as far as I can see
the clothes themselves, with all that fur and long thick mantles, indicate something in colder climate
perhaps Siberian?
the tusk earrings in particular seem more like something derived from africa, particularly the mursi people, but that could also just be artistic freedom

lusty merlin
#

I’m still unsure about this but I do notice some similarities with Inuit and Yupik peoples, that was my first connection when I read Salems message.
Mainly see in their boots and their coats, some variants of their traditional clothing does have boots that are tied. And some coats do seem to have somthing resembling the fabric on the front for one of the passage pants.
Bone jewelry was also common with indigenous peoples and frankly was what early pieces of jewelry was made of, which is what I think mope’s earrings are made of too, still unsure on troublemakers earrings though

I’m sure there’s a lot of other places they could’ve take inspiration from but I can’t think of anything else. But yeah like rooty said a lot of it could just be artistic freedom and all

#

Thinking a little more the boots could’ve been coincidental as sky’s default shoes tend to always be lace up’s, so it’s possible that passage’s shoes could’ve just been done with that in mind

cold sparrow

I'm thinking Siberia (these are people from the Baikal region in particular), for the tied waists and headbands in particular

the original (and not very popular) wip design of the cape could have fit a raccoon dog
but the striped tail it has now, and the roll emote combined with it seems to be more in reference to raccoons
I don't think raccoon dogs quite roll and tumble like this beautiful gif
though this could also have been a design decision that might have been made during the development
TGC certainly isn't beholden to what animals exist where in real life, and might very well be combining inspirations from more than one location

keen shore
#

That makes sense! They may have combined raccoon dogs and raccoons for the inspiration; since the original design was modified as it wasn’t very popular and raccoons tails are very visually distinct and the animals are known for being troublemakers, the decision might have been made to help visually communicate troublemaker’s personality

nimble ingot
#

It is debatable of if any memory of the ancestors were their last memories of them alive.

However, it is possible some memories could be of other times in their lives, while others could likely have been in times near their deaths.

Take the fainting warrior as an example, it seems very likely the poor ancestor has perished in that area. The same can be said for the cowering spirit (while the last part of the memory shows them not crushed. This could be either because the game did not want to show a death on screen for the player, or the spirit did not yet realise they have died and their body is in the rubble).
On last added example is the memory of the teabrewer, where the ancestor they were tending to passed away while they were out.

Other moments from spirits seemed to not be the case such as the memory of the manta racer from season of Aurora. Or the memories of the spirit from little prince.

That said about little prince. Either the Little Prince was talking to the ancestors spirits, which makes their memories of them in death. Or the Little Prince had seen them in life somehow. Which adds further confusion if the Little Prince was in the Sky realms for that long.

cold sparrow

I think the Remembrance spirits are actually the best examples for this. Their memories obviously show important - if tragic - scenes from their life, but they seem to be from a time and place before they arrived at the vault to find refuge.

It is not its own cosmetic 'pants' so to speak, more of a togglable part of skykids for players to choose from. All while other cosmetics can be used all the same.
It would not only be inclusive to players with similar injuries that their skykids can reflect. It can also expand on this idea.

Okay so like

I’m thinking of this scene cuz like most of the other elders who go through somthing similar, like the patterns fully being lit by the fire.

Because now I’m wondering, how does that work? I would say it’s special fabric dye like for murals but in the last image, even SkyElderPrairie’s hair is going through the same process.

So now I’m thinking like for one or could be their own version of the cape recharge (capes get more dull the less light you have). More out there theory is like what if it’s something I’ve seen in Steven universe. Where the clothes on gems are also made of light that are connected to their form. Cuz like that’s the only two reason I can think of why fire does this for the elders when they’re relit

lusty merlin
#

Aw I like that pWow Ik I had some of those moments as a kid so it could definitely work

#

MAN so that was somthing, there’s so much

So like that mask is a goat/ram mask from the noises alone. But also I was intrigued because so many masks!!! I wonder if these passages are personafications of inner feelings(?)

Like reslieance is opposite to mope, so I wonder if the future quests will have somthing similar for each passage kid

One more thing, and I know it’s slim, but I was instantly reminded of the animation project when I saw the beedy red eyes in forest. Because like the crabs in the animation are also in forest.

And like even the flute that overachiever had was shown be used by another character from the animation in a promo image from mundo digitals

Am I hoping the animation project might come out during or when passage ends? a little, it’s slim but like this is the second time I’ve noticed somthing related to the animation in passage

#

OKAY LAST THING I SWEAR

But the dark plants???? It could just be related to the passage, as it seems it acts like the same way as a prophecy trail but now I’m wondering that when it’s nighttime then darkplants thrive, and only very stubborn ones survive until they’re burnt off manually

Anyways off I go to sleep, very cool stuff

#

(I stg I always have more stuff to say )but apprently rams symbolize strength and determined, seen as a leader which would be perfect for resilience. And goats seems to have more peaceful yet determined definitions soSkyTada I’m now thinking this is a stylized ram mask because of its noises and the contents of the passage

Follow up: I wonder if this is possibly an adult version of the 'mantatee'/'sky puppy' we have seen in Days of Nature 🦭
It is possible if the same logic applies for sky creatures to gain additional limbs as they grow in size. Similar to the mantas.
Small mantas (the pygmies) are short and have 1 pair of fins, then the medium ones are longer but still 1 pair of fins, and the greater mantas have 2 pairs of fins.

animation project teaser theory.

Noticing on of the drawings shows the pup with a "hurt" fin (cannot use the proper word, because I think it was the trigger for the bot)
Am getting a bit of a Nemo's fin vibes here.

I believe the skykid was traveling with the ancestors in the animation, but saw a pup trying to keep up and struggle with the "bad" fin.
Then leapt off the creature to be with the pup.

lusty merlin
# remote skiff personally my theory is that there's a larger connection between elders and sky ...

Ya that too! I feel like for me skykids share similar traits to elders on purpose; but they arnet like mini elders. Like our skykids goal is, ascend to the mountain and free the spirits, where elders were only meant to help guide spirits to the stars.

Trying to figure how to word this
So skykids have similar traits to elders but in their own little way, both share similar recharge states, yet skykids definitely have more freedom on what they can do with it, but still weaker when they have no light. When elders can hold their own. Plus even when we help basegame spirits we have to go to the temple and watch the cutscene, restore the elders light.

So we are working togeather, and I think that’s the point, elders need the skykids to help ascend the spirits, skykids need the elders to help moving foward.

Tldr; skykids and elders could have similar traits because they are meant to help and work togeather

Being careful to suggest this.
There may have been a point where the game could have shown a different type of corrupted sky creature.
Namely a dark and menacing looking manta in the graveyard.

Take note, I would call this 'forbidden lore' as this is related to evidence that is not allowed on this server.
However, one can still speculate on this. Just giving context while hopefully not overstepping any rules.

remote skiff
#

also interesting to note: the third variant of dark creature, the large 'leviathan' from the season of abyss
#lore-discussion-spoilers message

my interpretation of the season quests is that you're putting the soul to rest of the manta who was experimented upon to artificially develop into an elder manta. the murals show scholars experimenting with light output from mantas based on wing count, and discovering that more wings could charge more diamond batteries. their greatest achievement was an genetically engineered elder manta, which was kept at the base of the facility with a large viewing gallery

(and seeing as how there's a very quaint area with grass, flowers, benches, and the shared space shrine includes beach-going equipment, i'd venture to say that treasure reef was open to civilians for recreation too. maybe they could get a tour through the laboratory like it was a museum?)

i say put the soul to rest because a simple monowing manta encounters you at the reef's entrance and bestows upon you the knowledge of swimming. there is a manta sculpture in the cave proper, almost like a memorial, and also a light mural warning of the corrupt creature in the depths

in the final quest, you burn away a darkness plant that has trapped a manta (much more mature plant than those at the HF broken bridge that also trapped mantas) after being engulfed by the 'leviathan' and then the leviathan expells you and the cackling cannoneer from its body

i think it's the same manta.

#

i never tried during the quests, but i don't recall that the leviathan tries to go after sky kids. i don't think it has an appetite for light.

distant turtle
nimble ingot
#

The game itself does not show the abyss leviathan acting hostile to skykids.
Either because a massive dark creature capable of swallowing a skykid would be too scary to randomly encounter, or the devs did not intend for the creature to re-enact the events after the season ends.

While the season performed very well and had a nice ending, there are some missed opportunities in my opinion on the leviathan now left under the ocean to swim around aimlessly and not to be interacted with by skykids.
Like most elder creatures/characters in sky, they are distant and hardly interact with skykids.
For what reason? That remains to be canonically answered.

distant turtle
#

My headcanon would be that now the leviathan is free to graze for light plankton and that it comes to that location where it is now only occasionally

earnest briar
#

I think the Leviathan operated on animal logic. We hurt it/we tasted bad so now it leaves us alone because it sees us as something not worth going after again.

nimble ingot
#

[Bot got triggered by a word for a hunting animal]
Should the leviathan be a hunting animal, and was eating fish. Even if it had to spit them back out, it would eventually have to eat the fish at some point.
Which since the season ended, the creature has not eaten anything (that I know of and heard from other skykids). So it should be starving by now as far as the lore is concerned.

distant turtle
hushed steeple

What if the whole game may be a commentary on how advanced societies push the boundaries of scientific discovery and innovation, without considering the long-term risks of their actions, leading ultimately to their downfall.

#

What if the sky kid or child of light journeying through the world to restore it could be interpreted as a metaphor for the human condition, how we all have the power to bring positive change to the world, no matter how small our individual acts of kindness or light may seem, and how social interaction and togetherness can strengthen and empower people.

nimble ingot
#

The game does include philosophy.
This is a nice dip into humanism and modernism. Whether you meant to or not, your are not wrong to suggest these ideas.

hushed steeple
#

I was paying attention to the current season and it made me think 🤔 The game's world and characters may be an invitation to reconnect with our inner child, the part of us that is filled with wonder, curiosity, and imagination that can see the world as a wondrous and magical place.

nimble ingot
#

ye.
A childhood does not last forever.
And while there are a lot of people who act childish in the world. There are not enough people who embraced the idea of having a childlike mind.

Being childlike does mean to be childish.
It is allowing yourself to enjoy things and having moments to yourself similar to how your were as a child. Like skipping, giggling at something silly, acting silly for example.
A functional and independent adult does not have to forget the things they enjoyed as a child, nor forget them in favor of being a responisble grown up.
You can, in a way, be a parent to yourself and allow yourself a bit of time to enjoy the things you worked hard to have.

I wish more grown-ups know this so they can have a happier life. Even for a little while.

hushed steeple
#

Exactly and season of shattering made me wonder if the game focus on light and darkness could represent the constant cycle of change in the world, the ebb, and flow of life that requires a balance of light and darkness.

#

In addition, what if the game's use of light and darkness may also symbolize the duality of human nature, with the world of Sky Children of Light both illuminating the beauty and the potential for good in humanity, as well as the darkness of our most destructive impulses and actions. Which goes perfectly with the theme of the current event “Days of Nature”.

speaking of remembrance, what's the general thought on why the 4 quest ancestors remain as spirits, but their loved ones are gone forever? i was half expecting that once we got their memory lanterns back for them that their dead friends/family would come back as spirits, but instead it just kind of felt like we were taunting them with images of the people they're never getting back 😓

#

especially due to some of their reactions to seeing their loved ones manifesting for a second and then fading away again. just kinda felt mean :(

nimble ingot
#

We have seen other spirits in quests/memories at various points in the game. Some of which are cameo appearances of other spirits skykids can find, while others may not be found by skykids.
These unknown spirits not only imply there were many ancestors in the kingdoms, as well as imply that not all spirits cannot be saved, or they have already moved on.

The devs are selective on which ancestor spirits we meet in the game. Which makes it a game play limitatation.

Ghosts/spirits tend to linger as they have unfinished business. I feel the rememberance spirits were in the state of not being able to move on and stuck in their grief. And when we help them show the memory lanterns it helps them take the first steps to heal, know that they’re gone, and that they can go and join them. I feel like this can help explain why we even have seasonal spirits around in general, like all of them have unfinished business to do. I find it funny (sarcastically) how some changes like disabling races in Valley were made because it was apparantly an issue when players competed with each other on how fast or how many points a team got. Which could have been made an optional feature for player not looking to compete.
And yet not an issue when a new event/season starts and its off to the races for who could buy the season/event out the fastest.

The thesis did hit the nail on the head that the capitalistic aspect in the game is a self-serving one.
While the game is supposedly heavily geared towards players connecting with one another and paying it forward in kindness. It does leave a warped vision of that kindness being forged with the ability to buy a friend over with candles.
I am not bashing a company for running the game with the option for players to support them. That is not the issue at all.
Which is what the thesis also makes great observations when grinding for candles in the game takes time and dedication, while the tempting offer to simply bypass that grind loop by buying candles has a side effect with the message the game has on making friends and the value of them.

So you know, one guy was like, 'I'm leveraging my friendship points to unlock content and collectibles in this world. You're giving me candles, I'm giving you candles. I want your candles just to unlock the cool stuff.'"

I think the passage of reliance is about relying on each other as a group; let me explain

The idea is that there's too much stuff around for a single kid to pick up before the light of the mask moves on, so the group members have to rely on each other to do their part in order to pick up everything they can while still having time to return to safety, otherwise there's too much for a single individual

actually the one time I've poked into lorechat recently and I see this :)
others have mentioned it already but that was a thing I've been saying for a while. prob not the first to suggest the idea, though I've been big on it and still believe it to be true.

consider that many entrances to seasonal areas have been revealed to us by the removal of clouds – Performance's Village Theater, Village of Dreams (fun fact the pre-Dreams colosseum used to have clouds in it), Flight's Wind Paths, Sanctuary Islands entrance. also the Eden diamond generates a storm around it that could be causing cloud cover, such as the overcast skies of the Wasteland which is thin enough by Abyss's Treasure Reef to let sunlight through.

so as the Eden Storm weakens, the clouds dissipate or receede, revealing more areas where spirits were petrified and we can rescue them

Would be variant of memory crystals but can be any length and audio only. Crystals can be inserted into headphones and speakers, or played on it's own. The one in the photo would be a music crystal for example. And this can also be for recordings in general, say a lesson recording.

  • Example: Logo can be replaced with the logo of the school
  • The song name can be title of what its about (Say Lesson 87: Light manipulation) along with the speaker name (Elder Lamed) for example
-Album cover and name could act as a brief description on what its about SkyTada

Mhm! This thought got into my mind; basically when a corrupted creature is in an environment that is overall peaceful and bright (or vice-versa), the sound it would produce would be off-tune. I have a little theory.

What if golden wasteland was once a bustling city made of gold, hence the name. That city didn't have alot of farming things so they used fishing as thier trade (kinda like irl) but they ended up over fishing and ended up polluting the waters around the castle thing. I think that the Red diamond in eden wasn't always there, I think that it landed there whenever everything was really healthy and there's grass every where. Well whenever it landed there it didn't start making things go bad until the krills could fly there, that's when everything went bad. All the spirits in places like golden wasteland ither got krilled or tried to move away quickly. In the battle field I saw tons of spikes to I think that the elder of golden wasteland was trying to fight against the krills but didn't succeed (that's why the large spears are by the battle field door) I feel like the krills caused the bad plants to spend further and further all the way to daylight prairie but since the krills were too far away from the red diamond so they had to go back to the places like golden wasteland and eye of eden. Also another thing I think another place or world got haunted my the other eye since most things have two eyes.

# terse ore I have a little theory. What if golden wasteland was once a bustling city made ...

In concept art, there was a mention of a Holy land and a city just after in the Golden Wastes.
Perhaps since then the devs may have considered moving it either to just past the Wastes or in the Wastes.

Either case, the holy aspect feels like a reference to Jerusalem. Then again, it could have connections to other major structures of the ancient world.
Such as a palace in Tibet, a temple in India, or even Greek/Rome.

Perhaps the coliseum in Valley could help clue us in that each temple possibly have a theme related to an anceient civilisation.
Whether is is intentional or not, or even a one-to-one comparison may be up for debate.

Personally, while I would think TGC would look to real life cultures for inspiration, they may not solely rely on these references to built up the lore.
Which includes the flying stone boats, as well as the lore as a whole.
Meaning some of the lore would be referencing real life ancient wonders. The lore in Sky adds on to these references with their own story.
A story of an ancient civilisation that was once united, but feel into darkness.

That isn’t confirmed and is somewhat unclear (like many things in this game 😔). Many people in this chat believe They did create us, but not all; for example, I do not. To start with, as of yet, I’m somewhat foggy on how skykids were actually created. Part of me wants to say they just are, like the other creatures, although I’m aware that might not be a satisfactory answer. I’m still brainstorming alternatives to this and would love to hear others’ ideas if they have any!

The conclusion I’m much more sure about is believing that there’s at least a decent chance we weren’t created by a Megabird. My reasoning is mostly that I just don’t find that there’s enough evidence in the game to state without a doubt that we were created by a Megabird, or even that such an entity exists as something separate from the Light itself (which could still fulfill all the ‘duties’ others here typically assign to ‘Megabird’, just under a different name). While I am very aware of the vaguely bird shaped thing we see in the credits, there’s nothing besides concept art linking what could just be a depiction of the entire galaxy to the god-like being I often see it equated to. There are few references to any higher entity in the game, and all of these can be attributed to the Light without needing to make a separate being within it. Of course, this isn’t me saying that Megabird absolutely does not exist, just poking others here to have a bit more nuance since their existence is often stated as fact when it’s anything but.

There is also some personal interpretation stuff here and I won’t deny that, which is what I’ll get into next post (as this one is getting very long)

Continuation of this post here!

The basics of it is that having a creator god who can create beings at will to influence the world, and can otherwise consciously influence the light within the world, creates a lot of hard to answer questions when considered in the context of a post apocalyptic world where everyone died specifically from there not being enough light. Yes, the kingdom very definitely influenced their own downfall by actively destroying that light, but if there’s a god who can simply create more light at will, why not at least alleviate or alter the disaster? Why wouldn’t they do anything about the growing amount of light creatures dying in refineries, or the diamond at all? Why wait so long to send skykids? Sure, there are a lot of logistical barriers for them to do these things, but as viewed in their most common interpretation here they have literally all the knowledge in the universe; they could have figured out a way.

Season of Prophecy’s basis makes all those questions — which are pretty easy to ignore otherwise — much harder to answer. We don’t know how old the prophecies we see are, and trial of fire can be interpreted as a prophecy for what happened to Eden (although, even if you don’t believe it is, it would be really weird for the prophets to not at least have some clue the disaster was coming. Whether they could figure out what it meant is another story and a very long tangent but that doesn’t matter here). Again, I want to mention that Megabird in their current most common interpretation has the souls of every previously-alive creature and ancestor within them, and it is hard to believe they wouldn’t have access to some prophetic ability. If we believe the trial of fire detail from earlier then they would have known Eden was going to fall even before sending down the person who was supposed to stop it.

That last observation is what drove me towards skepticism moreso than the one before it, because I couldn’t explain it away.

lusty merlin
#

Eating this

Okay but yeah bringing up on how it would even work makes sence. Because like yeah, why couldn’t they just send light down to help with the disaster? Why In their most common interpretation couldnt they help earlier.

There are the tropes of a god figure being silent observers than truly helping if at all but I don’t really like that reason because like. If they didn’t help then that means all the soldiers, workers, everyone who was effected by the disaster who knew it would get worse just let it happen

keen shore
#

Yeah!!

I personally believe the Light is… hard to explain. It can speak to us and it flows throughout the world in a way we can sense, but it’s more of a force given a mind and voice rather than a god. We’re closest to it in Orbit, where Light is strongest, and on the ground it is most powerful in the brightest places.

lusty merlin

Elder Names by Alasdair#8513

The Elders (plus the king & prince) have names based off Hebrew letters from concept development that are no longer canon, though the fandom sometimes refers to them as such:
Isle – Daleth (ד)
Prairie – Ayin (ע)
Forest – Teth (ט)
Valley – Samekh (ס) (they share a name, though the fandom refers to SkyElderValley1 as Sah and SkyElderValley2 as Mekh)
Wasteland – Tsadi (צ)
Vault – Lamed (ל)
Prince – Alef (א)
King – Resh (ר)

Though it seems the devs refer to the Elders by the times of day their realms represent:
Isle – Dawn
Prairie – Day
Forest – Rain
Valley – Sunset
Wasteland – Dusk
Vault – Night
Eden – Storm

Late to the party but thought to add to this.

Some games would use a foreign language to obscure the meaning as well as link some parts of the game (such as the elders and what they could theoretically represent) to a culture. Which leaves it up to players and fans to look into to learn more about the character.

According to a website that promotes Judaism,
"The letters and the words they form are holy, with layers of meaning from the literal to the mystical."
While this explains how a Hebrew name would be specific with letters that adds to the meaning. Such as an example, 'Abba' [אבא] which means 'father' while these symbols refer to a head of the house (for context, I am not a Hebrew speaker, nor of this culture. However, one can look these things up and source them. As long as the research is done thoroughly and responsibly).

The elders old names on the other hand have been used as placeholders by the devs. They have been clear on this and I take that as them not intending on appropriating the language. Therefore, those who would like the use the names can do so, though should take care to inform others who have not known the backstory.

I like to use the name as I like to think there may be a reason why a specific letter is used for each elder, as well as having a name to refer to them by.
And would assume others do so for similar reasons.

Passage rituals aim for the participants to learn to be cooperative and friendly to others and that teamworks can help get through anything, or metaphorically the darkness

When teased, I thought they could have been nature spirit that either the game would have the player gather. Similar to other quests of collecting fragments, combined with the mechanic to guide spirit memories by the hand.
Turns out in the quest, these are likely a reskin of a player similar to the concert cloth skykid models.

#

On the one hand, they look nifty.
Though have personally been left scratching my head on what they could mean in the game's lore.

Either they are like echoes, or random forest spirits your skykid would meet. And the devs take advantage of the concert feature to let strangers play that role.
Or it could be just the devs re-flavouring the stranger models for the quests instead of using the simplified 'cloth' models.
Which I presume is the devs' way of being able to show how many players are in a given instance, while working around the limitation I take is the game has trouble reliably running that many skykids at once. By simplifying all their models and animations, the game can afford to run with more skykids in the same instance.

Back to the fluffy masked forest spirit theory. I would like to compare them to the tree spirits from Princess Monoke. Which were suggested in the film to indicate the forest is healthy, that they are harmless albeit unsettling to some humans.

nimble ingot
# nimble ingot On the one hand, they look nifty. Though have personally been left scratching my...

To end off this random thought.

If these masked spirits in Sky were to be similar to the tree spirit in the Ghibli film. Then the guiding mask's light protecting them (as well as our own skykids) from darkness would be a telling piece of lore about darkness in Sky.
That without light to keep darkness at bay, creatures of the light would be smothered by the darkness.

Suppose the prospectors back then were careless in taking the resources from the ground, or desecrating the forest with littering the place. Perhaps that helped the darkness take hold??
Frankly, I would link this quest to that of Aurora's quest in the caves. Where we see the prospector spirits mining the dark stone crystals.
Seeing they are in the same realm, both involve prospectors and the environment being harmed in the process of them mining out the dark stone.

What if the dark stones were once able to absorb darkness, and thus maintaining the balance in favour of the Light? But when the ancestors saw it can also absorb light, they upset the balance, destroyed the harmony, and allowed darkness to flourish with no dark stone to keep it at bay.

The Days of Nature promo had a bit where the skykid would scold Angler, implying that they threw the sea trash. However, in the actual game, Angler doesn't know whose sea trash it is. Did the skykid reach the wrong conclusion, or is Angler lying?

nimble ingot
# compact shale I don't know if this can be considered lore but- The Days of Nature promo had a...

I would say it is lore, you are ok ❤️

The ancestor were proven to have been responsible for being careless and polluting the realms in the past.
While the Angler specifically could, or could not have been responsible. I would say the skykid scolding a ancestors is symbolic.
Which, depending on how you look at it would excuse the Angler, but refer to the ancestors in general.

Besides, the angler did not want to, or could not help, so the skykids could be a bit disgruntled at that.

That said, should the sky puppies not stick around after the event ends. I would be just as upset at the devs for not letting us skykids have puppies at the Sanctuary island.
Especially since they would disappear after the quest is completed.

I’m just curious on others theories

#

Like do manta have feathers or scales or flesh? And what is everyone’s view on past animals In sky if there were past animals that have gone extinct from the crystal then why and how did manta survive?

nimble ingot
#

Hmm...
Personally, mantas are would have a velvety skin that is similar to scales.

As for extinct animals, I would suppose an elder bird since it made 1 appearance and has not returned since the ending of season of Rhythm.

Another creature could be a deer, if considering concept art. Even jf it did not make any appearances in the game.

Lorewise, I am not sure which creatures are canoncially extinct.
Unless you would propose the animals on masks are evidence of animals that once existed in the lore of sky.

crystal scroll
nimble ingot
crystal scroll
#

What do you think?

nimble ingot
#

I'd say that TGC has put a lot of thought into the worldbuilding that they either were having trouble fully implimenting in the game, or were limited, wanted to save for a later season or even for the animation project.

Mostly because it could possibly be that the team wanted to show much more of the world and the animation project presented the opportunity.

As for the animals, it is very likely either the ancestors somehow knew of animals that are from earth (ex. lion, tiger, bull, bear, deer etc.) Or the ancestors had creatures that resemble thatvof eartg animals.

Hence the name manta, bird and crab and not a name that could imply a different language.
This is difficult to prove though. Since the game has set the trend that animals would be called things that are recognised on earth.
Such as a flying flat creature with a tail baing called a manta and not something else like for example, a wingflapper (joke name).

#

The short answer is this.

The lore is open to interpretation.

Therefore, one can suggest that Sky could have for example Lions that once lived in the grassy plains near Daylight Prairie.

Even though there is little to no in game evidence to support that at all, other than there being a Lion mask and assuming a lion would likely live in the sunny planes of Day.

Would the animal masks of animals that we don't see in the game imply that there are various extinct species we don't get to see, that Sky has its own mythology based on those animals, or a little bit of both?

#

Hey guys, was wondering what y'all have deduced about the current season

#

Oh I just saw the tail end of the animal discussion. Imo its entirely possible that the region where Sky takes place in is simply isolated/seperate from the rest of the world where those animals could potentially live. Isle of Dawn is seemingly very isolated but unless the Sky world is that small there usrely must be more beyond the currently explored lands.

The different realms are directly comnected to each other but I think the lands is like, a giant island chain or archipelago with mountains. There doesn't seem to be a mainland/continent as we know them, those are likely beyond the oceans. Lots of places around the world irl have locations that have animals that aren't found anywhere else in the world.

lusty merlin

Perhaps the time period in Sky is a fantastical version of the Golden age.
Where weapons like harpoon guns existed alongside canons, spears, catapults, battle-axes, swords and shields.

To be fair, this is also a world where you get flying stone boats, laser canon (in concept art), and portals.
Their evolution of technology would likely have taken wacky turns and was spotty in some realms.

I don't know if this was discussed or not but does anyone know which realm had war with GW? And why did it start at all?

nimble ingot
#

It was discussed before, but it is ok to go over it again with folks who are new or have something new to look into.
You are ok. ❤️

Canonically, it is unclear who was fighting who and why.

There is speculation and theories that vary from different realms (Valley vs Wasteland), to two sides the ancestors sided with (power diamonds vs the Light).
In the end, the war was devastating to say the least.

keen shore
#

As to why it started, we are much more sure on that. Without getting into too much detail, it likely started over the usage of ‘darkstone’ which is a fan term for the blue-gray crystals you light with your candle to start various mechanisms. You may also have noticed them as the centerpiece of shared spaces. Unfortunately, ancestors didn’t have candles like we do, and used light creatures’ (typically mantas or butterflies) light to charge the mechanisms instead. The process involved hurting and often killing the animals in question, as well as keeping them captive, and ended up wrecking the environment more and more over time due to its waste products, hence why Wasteland looks like that. It’s easy to see why it became so controversial.

#

I can get into evidence if you’d like, but it would certainly take a while, so I hope this summary helps!

Just rambling a bit.

Reading an old theory from ricekripsy. This user has been in the game and chat since 2019.
Something they said raised an interesting question when compared. To what we have in the game today.
For reference, this is the theory I am working off: #lore-discussion-spoilers message

What kripsy said, Eden has/had the sun symbol, while the wasteland has diamonds.
They elaborated with hypothesizing if Eden would send soldiers to the golden kingdom after the war to pick survivors.

While the last part is possible. The lore was open to interpretation then and still is now, let's go over what we have in the current world of Sky.

There is a battlefield where the diamond shields are away from the temple while the sun shields are at the entrance of the temple.
Diamond shields were kite shaped and held swords, while the sun shields are rounded and have spears.
Looking at the battle from an objective stance, we know the diamonds were fighting towards the temple, while the sun shields either defended the temple or were pushing the diamond shields away. It is honestly unclear which case this would truly when coupled with the information that the temple has a diamond symbol, not a rounded disc.

Not to mention the elder of the Golden Wasteland.
The elder could have possibly been fighting for the diamonds because their shield was kite shaped in murals and the constellation. Whereas the elder's actual shield is rounded.
We know there is another shield that is like the elder's aside from the ones in the battlefield, which is the entrance to Eden.
Suppose that the elder traded sides, it would explain why the elder was also seen charging near the temple in their Vault mural.

nimble ingot
# nimble ingot Just rambling a bit. Reading an old theory from ricekripsy. This user has been ...

Looking at the memories from season of Aurora, we know the war was hectic. Some spirits like seed of hope was seemingly a neutral party. How so, the weapons are much larger, implying a different kind of warriors fighting, even though we dont see them.
While the concert did show ancestors fighting, we know from that and the seed of hope's memory that mantas were part of the war since some where shown being attacked. Suppose they were air support mounts. And killing them would leave their riders grounded and vulnerable.
While creatures like the Krill were seemingly an uncontrollable threat. Since they would attack any light creature and in seed of Hope's memory showed ancestors attacking them.

It would be interesting to see what more of the lore would be revealed about the war in Sky.

thus far, there is a lot of theories from many users.

keen shore
#

The diamond symbol on the Wasteland temple also doubles as an uncommon symbol for elders; that’s likely why it’s on the temple. It was once visible on the Valley temple as well but was covered up by the recent Aurora murals — a more famous instance of it would be on the icons for the elder ult gifts (in their bottom left iirc). To my knowledge no other cosmetics, Ultimate or otherwise, bear it.

Interestingly, that symbol may be a reference to the diamonds on Elders’ chests — a feature we share with them — or a mirror of the ‘stars’ they are sometimes referred to as.

nimble ingot
#

Forest elder's temple has plenty of diamonds though

#

Not to mention the headpiece of Vault and in their realm.

keen shore
#

That is very true! Unfortunately, I don’t get how that’s relevant to what I’m saying, please explain?

sterile orchid
#

i've mentioned this multiple times when we bring up the shields, the reason why Dusk has the wrong shield shape in murals is likely just due to trying to convey "this is a shield!" and/or from a time in development where said shields weren't distinguished by the overall shape and simply hasn't been updated. it does not mean that Dusk was on the side of the diamond shields.

keen shore
#

The symbols on the shields seem to be more constant and a more reliable giveaway than the shields’ shape or the weapons nearby as well; you can see a sun shield next to Dusk’s altar too

frigid tinsel
#

diamond symbolism is also found throughout Valley, so really we can't credit the diamond to representing only the Elders or only power diamonds.

if we were to take the diamond symbol to represent darkstone technology, then it's likely much more relevant than Dusk Elder holds a shield with a sun on it rather than how they're represented in constellations that haven't been updated in almost four years

keen shore
#

The diamond symbol I’m talking about is a very specific diamond with a dot in the middle; it’s not the same as other diamond symbols — trying to track down a photo rn

earnest briar
#

yooooooo I just had the dumbest but possibly cool idea for the reasoning behind the spears and shields being so big

nimble ingot

Some seasonal cosmetic masks would have diamonds on their foreheads as well.

keen shore
nimble ingot
#

you are ok.

Interestingly, the small symbol at the base of the forest temple was updated to look more like a diamond.

keen shore
#

That specific symbol is on multiple other places, including the tent drapes added to the Colosseum during Season of Aurora. Oddly enough, it might not always mean diamonds, although I’m open to discussion on how it could mean that here.

I would also like to add a quick reminder that even though Wasteland may have taken a stand against darkstone in later years, leading to the war, in the original idea I stated that this was due to its creatures and environemnt and people being unequally exploited to charge it. If this is true, and it likely is judging by the two refineries we can see within the realm, it would make sense for diamond symbols to still be present.

sharp lichen
keen shore
#

The trouble is that at the time when the negative effects of darkstone wouldn’t be widespread, would there really be any war?

The closest thing would probably be fighting krills to keep them at bay but since this time period is by definition imagined as when darkstone hasn’t caused a lot of harm, and darkstone pollution is how krills are created, that would be a bit in the future

It would all depend on, sigh, the timeline
