This channel is the godforsaken side of elder history
can skykids bleed i need to know
if you want them to sure
My thoughts on sky kid injuries is that they crack like clay (since I think that's what they're made of) and bleed Light if it's bad enough
omg imagine skykids bleed in gold
the world is your clam
Given their “blood” is light, in a way, they probably could bleed that
Well i can agree with the krill theory (I like to call them shrimp) because the decaying we can see on the crabs BUT also on our character in Eden when we’re dying because we are running out of light
I personally don't think they bleed
ye, it could be because they ran out of light and decayed, turning into what they are now. Without the sky people to take care and power them, they will run out some day
like anything that needs energy. If it isn't replenished, it will run out and stop working as intended
would the imagery be cool? yes
is it possible? unknown!
Probably not, as Skykids lose their light in big “chunks” of winged light
But also here’s a random thought that came up
So our characters can slide on snow ice and rock right? So my brain went to- how does that not hurt them?
So my brain went to so since our characters are made of light but what if the form we take is a shell made from cooling down before we hit the ground in the beginning
Witch also would make sense of what happens in Eden we die and essentially become trapped in the shell that has decayed, died and looks corrupted but fragments of our light are stuck in there
And we can see that when we free spirits and help ignite light in our fallen comrades why there’s like light in the cracks of the shell and why we break out of our shell when we revive and just become pure light with out a shell until we are reborn
That feels like some solid idea of what their anatomy is in a way
okay so i forgot and im gonna go sneep but. tac it's On Its Way
i drop this before i sleep: i wonder what the average life expectancy was for ancestors? i wanna know how they aged/what speed they aged at/ect
thats a good question especially considering we've gotten two seasons with just chilren spirits
Maybe they have longer life spans, since stars themselves live for a long time the reason they die and explode is because they produced iron and then that iron started absorbing the heat
Personally I think they age the same rate as us until they get really old, a couple decades past our lifespans. 150 years being the ancestors 94 or somthing
Maybe, for the elders i can definitely see that as I also see them being falling stats. Though for ancestors I feel like they’re lifespans would be somewhat more grounded, don’t know why I think that tho
i like to think they age fairly slowly, maybe a few centuries if they tried hard enough lol
and tac c-can we be friends so i have someone else to gush abt the valley skrunklies with
Yeah but like biologically speaking that longer lifespan can lead to species difficulty’s because longer lifespans equal to longer time that the species stays a baby or a kid witch also makes that reproduction happens at a way later time witch can lead to extinction
Even though these light creature may not reproduce like that- maybe? Still that’s just logical thinking about that being the case
I think that sky children are just born from the stars and like stars they will die eventually
Yeah but still the longer life span thing could still apply since they are living things that still grow
Ah sorry if have to decline, not too good with just one on one stuff, but I’m still willing in lorechat and stuff
And for the biology thing, sky’s biology is just all over the place
we got flying mants and children, magic, floating boats. I’d say if ancestor biology differs from humans the sky world would have a way to have it come naturally in a cycle without the huge risk of natural extinction
Yeah that’s true I’m just taking some real world logic in that way because it would be applied to maybe understand how long these spirits have been done or how much time has passed between them passing and how decayed and broken down places are, idk
Timeline wise for me: diamond exploded, destroyed anything in its radius, everyone is dead but trapped, erosion and nature takes hold where it does
but we can still be friends even if it isn't a one on one thing right? ;w; /nf
Your a cool person and ya I do enjoy talking in this channel but I’d rather just keep it that way please
thats what i was referring to, ack words are hard,,
Ah yeah I sort of just see you has a nice person who comes here somtimes and is nice to be around and share ideas with, but that’s it, nothing beyond that. I would call that more as a acquaintance with a common interest personally than being friends on my end, hope you understand
yeah thats what i kinda meant ! again words are stupid and i never know how to get myself across,,, im sorry
It’s fine no worries
I think like how we are now is already good, no need to change anything
yeah ;w;
okay ive stalled too long now i sneep,,,
i wanna ask one more lore question but i cant remember it atm so it'll have to wait fjdjg
cant believe i just witnessed someone get acquaintance-zoned how surreal
anyways question, how canon do you think the office is
and relating to that, the office npc and whatever other nonsense goes on in there
The office is considered entirely non canon
You could probably have it included as a funny little space the sky kids go since that's literally all it is but I wouldn't take it too seriously
Hello lorechaaaaaaat!! How's everyone speculating on this fine.... 20th of April (thatdefinitelyisntmantadadsbirthday) ?
((Iwouldbeincrediblyhappyifyouguyscouldgivemeyourtheoriesonskykidbirthdays))
Think they would work as regular birthdays from what we seen, could vary from person to person, if you think they’d interact with spirits outside of events and memories they could also visit said skykids birthday too
what exactly would be their birthday.. I guess just the day they got flung into existence huh
Feel like that would be what most mark it to be, but if they don’t remmeber I guess they could choose it to be after a meaningful moment
fair enough- the idea of choosing your own birthday is kinda cute ngl i like that
hmmm now im thinking about- does sky even have years? like, they dont exactly have seasons (well they obviously do but like,,, weather I mean…)
and if they do, how would they be measured?
Like to think outside the game they do have years, game mechanics and having less load could be why everything is the same
true but that would involve some amount of fourth wall breaking
I remmeber one of Alasdair’s oc’s measured their age in seasons if i remember right, which I think is a cool way on measuring skykid age
I don’t think calling somthing a year in sky would really fourth wall though. Guess it would be personal preference
writing wise for me, using the year timeframe when I need to mention time is helpful, especially when showing just how old the elders are in my hc
hm yeah fair enough.. i dont really know how to articulate my thoughts on this but would years even exist?? and how exactly would the concept have been developed?? like what would it be based on, just four or so seasons?- how would it have been decided
Something I thought about once at random is the idea of months of the year based on "Days of" events, like "Fortune" for January, "Rainbow" for June, etc. It only falls short cuz of May, which hasn't had a recurring event happen
it would kinda if youre basing it on something outside of the existing game I think
Could always make your own, we don’t even know if seasons are sky’s personal months or if they are just events. For my own sake I would stick to our time to measure it
The days of thing is super intersting too! Maybe outside the game ancestors would have special days to celebrate each month, think that would be also cool!
Yaya fair enough, guess it comes down of what you think
ahhh this is complicated my 2 braincells cant handle this
I agree, it is a bit complicated, but as with everything else in Sky, it's all up to player interpretation. There is no right or wrong answer here
I agree, I don’t remember the day I started playing sky (the day that could be considered my skykid’s birthday), but I remember that it was November 2020. It was the middle of the season of prophecies then, which is significant for me, considering how I gave the role to my skykid in my sky universe.
But in the end, I chose another significant date on June 21 - the day of the summer solstice
I don't know if it makes sense to raise this issue again, because. a lot of time has passed. But I like the krill theory, because I myself think that they could be the mechanism that was sent on patrol. I also like to think so based on the Wasteland concept art where there were beam towers that most likely did the same thing as the krill. Even if the lore of the Sky is different from the concept art now, but I like to think so
aye, same!
does skykids have organs other than the red candle thingy
Most likely not, because their insides are pure light
head empty
Lorechat actually loring in response to my silly message and not even. MENTIONING that i hinted (blatantly said) that it's my birthday. This is exactly why I love you guys so much.
Also Skykid organs potentially? Skykids snore and have a heartbeat, but it think they've just adapted to that. hmmmmmmmmmm.....
No, no skykid organs. That's.... an unpleasant thought.
Hmm, if we continue talking about what is actually inside the skykid. They are clearly not starving, meaning they don't need to eat, and most likely lack an esophagus, stomach, intestines, and many other organs responsible for filtering what they eat. BUT skykid can eat and drink, because. these activities are present at tea and picnic tables
maybe the light is just hot enough to instantly burn/evaporate anything they eat/drink?
But it's most likely a game convention.
Perhaps so, perhaps food and water does not go all the way like ours, but splits in the light and nourishes it?
so that means skykids bodies are empty, only their "heart" (red candle),,,,,
Comes out yes
So a question has come to me, what were the point of the elders? Like I know to a degree they were leaders, had abilities, and were the closest to the megabird in terms of astral origin and age. But like I really don't know all of their ulterior things. Does anyone know their purposes? Or their powers? Or just what their job was in society?
Well, for starters, I think the elders were close to the prince / king and helped him with the control of the sky, about their powers I only know what can be recognized from the frescoes in the cave of prophecies.
That’s actually a common way I’ve seen people track their skids’ age, but I don’t do that. My skykids aren’t sure always sure when they were born so they just do vague estimations and celebrate a birthday within that timeframe
Happy birthday
I think it would probably be roughly based on the time it takes for a “Days of” event to repeat
I feel like some things are implemented just for the sake of game mechanics, whilst others are implemented for lore's sake, but it's difficult to separate the two
I wanna add onto the conversation of "what is inside a sky kid" and I wanna try my best to separate game mechanics from lore.
Eating/Drinking
Game Mechanics for user experience:
- No food/hunger bar. For a game that is supposed to be calming (most of the time), having a food/hunger/water bar is kinda contradictory, coz it will cause u to constantly worry if u have enough food, water, etc. Contrasted to a game like minecraft which is heavily survival focused (excluding creative mode), which has a food mechanic. It fits the game as minecraft survival mode is a mode of challenge. So imo the lack of a food/hunger bar is due to user experience rather than the fact that they don't starve/don't get hungry or thirsty.
Lore Mechanics:
- Grandma. The fact that she provides meals to the children (as what the description says), suggests that the children eat some sort of food. Also the way it is presented (food on "plates" on a table in the setting of a dining table sort of) adds to the suggestion that this is in fact, for lore purposes.Whether that is real food, we don't know. However, it is possible that the food itself is light, considering grandma gives what seems like balls of light.
I can't tell [help]:
- Burning the food Grandma provides. I can't tell whether this is just for the game mechanic (like how sky kids burn other things for candles), or if its a lore reference as to how the sky kids "eat" the food.
- Picnic/Tea prop sets. They suggest that sky kids can eat/drink things, but they are also contradictory to how the grandma mechanic works. [burn the food instead of eat it]. This could raise the possibility that the sky kids have multiple ways to intake food, or that one is canon whilst the other is not.
As a stubborn lore barnacle on this chat for nearly 2 years. I'm proud to see someone make theories like this.
Well done and thank you for taking the time to type this out.
skykid birthday cake.
I think that gameplay and lore mechanics can be used together. Most game mechanics have a lore reason and vice versa
I think that the food Belonging Guide makes is different to the food in the Bloom table
Personal theory, that has some influence from the lorechat in general, to touch on with your observations, Leo.
You are right to say that the burning mechanic is a feature the game relies on for skykids to interact with objects they collect Light from.
Skykids get Light from the wax-light of Candles, from the remains of dark plants that we burn away and from orbs that spawn from fire in afk areas and Granny's meal times. There are alternate ways skykids can get light and those are from interaction animations with shells/debris, and passively in rare cases such as the days of bloom tree and fortune fireworks.
The game does hints at as that burning dark plants are a way to cleanse the area. Which may imply that skykids extract Light (which can be considered to be positive energy) from dark matter (shards, shells, dark plants etc.).
Therefore, skykids can convert dark energy into Light with burning it with their candles. Which is furthermore established to be an extension of their heart/soul/life force.
TLDR
Leo's exploration of a skykids' diet is well done.
From my understanding of the lore, skykids do not need food or drink per say. Though can do so if they so wish by imitation.
Skykids do need Light to sustain themselves, which is pretty easy for them to manage provided they have a flame nearby, or another skykid.
While the game does not show actual mouths, I am stubbornly of the opinion that TGC is known for their character to lack mouths stylistically. The characters hardly speak in previous games and therefore did not need mouths. However in Sky, while this stylistic feature has carried over to the characters in Sky. The game works around this limitation that also solves another problem where it comes to translating the gameplay into other languages.
Most dialogue is in text, while the few times where the game uses voices are in vocalisations that are either recognised universally (ex. yawning, grunts), or abstract singing such as Aurora's voices in Dawn and Orbit that do not have recognisable words.
THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTION
Ah okay sorry! Swore I remember one using seasons as an age thing once
The game does not really explain when a skykid (the player) would arrive in Sky. Which I wish would be touched upon.
I like to ask folks when they joined and ascribe their skykids to be 'from' that season.
This gives a headcanon that you can have different skykids from different times. This in turn solidifies the "moth" trope being a young skykid who would need to learn more about the world. While an older skykid can be considered a veteran.
This seemingly was the trend back in the day where there were less seasons and players who were in Sky before the global release would proudly hold the title. As one of the 'first' or 'experienced' players that has been in the game since the early days.
I am not sure if this trend still persists, though would love to see players from older seasons be recognised. Especially for a player that has stuck around for around 3 years (essentially those who joined before season of Enchantment).
Also, knowing what would classify a skykid has 'graduated' from moth to perhaps, say for example, Novice, Expert and Vet; would be cool.
Having a rank may not be for everyone, as most players enjoy seeing all skykids have equal treatment.
However, there are in fact tiers/ranks in the game in the form of season passes that are tied with cosmetics. Whereas some comsetics are used as statements/proof of a player's experience of set them apart as someone who has perks.
This is more notable with players who have pins (albeit difficult to spot on a random player), office cape, beta cape, Nintendo capes, Little Prince cape, and Aurora cape. While the perks of these items that give access to another tier/rank of gameplay (special areas or unique events), and they are easy to overlook when compared to the rest of the game.
This does imply the game has some ranks. Although it is seemingly obscure, underexplored and overlooked (by the company who limited access to obtaining these items with once off events for some, or limited availability for others).
i feel like while skykids need light to survive, they can eat [it's an optional thing]. like maybe grandma's cakes are light wrapped in burnable things so that skykids can get the light [especially since it's raining and the rain drains the light]. the tea cakes are optional and don't regenerate light, it's just a foodstuff.
Yeah, light is in a way their version of food
travelling spirits invalidate the pass thing because they sell the cosmetics anyways
Unfortunately, elitism is a rampant issue in Sky
Hi did someone mention how days/years work in sky? Bc i have an idea about this and I drew it ✨
ooooo

Yes, and yet to a limited degree.
They do not guarentee a certain cosmetic, and they do not sell the ultimates.
That and items such as the nintendo cape are exclusive to switch players (even with the option to gift to non-switch players, the item has limited access), the office cape and beta cape (exclusive to beta players, although the issue would then default to the office cape and events); and the aurora cape (which to my knowledge is no longer available to be sold, therefore limits access to players who have purchased the item at the time).
in the community, sure, but I have no reason to believe that should correspond to the game's lore
OOOOOO
I'm planning on making a document on how time works in sky via the eden bell in home (I HAVEN'T STARTED IT HSHSHSHSH), a very interesting take
I was waiting for passage to come out to confirm time can indeed pass in the realms
sunset sanc:
Hey lore chat quick question to ease my mind before class but doesn't this look like a fish?
Yeah I see it!
HELP
IT DOES
i choose to believe that’s an eclipse and not actually nighttime
🕴️ omg I forgot
didn’t someone say that sanctuary was below the cloud layer tho? same with treasure reef but idk what their deal is
Another example.
Day 1 of an event/season. Where some players buy the whole season out with season candles.
While it is their choice (and their money), having access to the cosmetics that early on does spark envy from players intending on earning the items through gameplay.
It is fair for a business to make a profit, and yet in order to do so would have some costs involved.
Which in the above example is having players essentially buy-out the season, thus spoiling the reward aspect of the cosmetics for themselves for the remainder of the season. Again, it is their choice (and funds).
As well as a slight for players seeing the ultimate's flaunted about early in the season.
(Wonder if it is best to have ultimates be held back till later in the season, similar to how the season quests are held back to extend the value and enjoyment of the season?)
bruh the haunted role is back for the 100th time
time still passes above cloud level
yeah I would think so! but it would always appear to be a certain time of day because of the position in relation to the sun. it’s not a perfect theory but i will explain more
well no, I've slept on top of mountains and I can confirm that's not the case
The community is part of Sky. Sky is part of the Lore.
It is not a major part of the game, and the same can be said about the underlying elitism.
TGC has dealt with this in the past. Which has been the reason why we have traveling spirits to begin with.
One can argue that the King in Sky is missing in the lore due to Elitism. /hj
actually. I might not be quite correct, could I ask you to expand on your thinking liv
My first thought was skeletal hand; personally I cannot quite see the fish
Fish :3
Basically, for there to be days and years, there has to be a planet rotating on an axis around a sun. There is a sun in game, and areas that seem to be below the cloud layer, so it seems plausible that there could be a planet somewhere idk?? So if that’s the case, days would be measured by the planet’s rotation on the axis, and years by the orbit around the sun. I imagine Home would be on the surface of this planet because it has regular times of day.
But this is a kingdom in the sky, and it’s supposed to be mainly in the clouds (even if it doesn’t always look like it). Everything is surrounded by clouds or empty sky with maybe some water wayyyy down underneath. Clouds move on their own because they’re not attached to the planet. So if almost everything is in a cloud layer, its position in relation to the sun - and by extension, the time of day it appears to be in a certain area of the clouds - isn’t dependent on what’s happening down below. It’s a bit like when you’re on an airplane and can fly through different times of day at a pace the rest of the world doesn’t, but slower and on a larger scale.
I think, by either coincidence or some kind of Weird Light Thing, the realms are positioned in the clouds so that they would always be in facing (or not facing) the sun in a certain way. Days and years would still be measured (by the planet!) and time would still pass, but it would always look like the same time of day in the realms because of where the sun is. (1/2 ugh character limit)
(2/2) Also, in murals and to an extent on the map (which may not be entirely accurate) the realms are depicted in order of their times of day, in a circle in the sky. So it would make sense for them to be organized roughly that way around something - obviously though, what I drew is 2d and not to scale, so it doesn’t account for their exact locations.
There are some things it can’t explain, like sunset sanctuary or where the heck eden actually is for example, but in general I think it’s a neat idea idk !! For a kingdom in the sky, it makes sense to me that it wouldn’t work like a place on the ground
But i dunno i’m not like a scientist or anything i just think of stuff that might be cool
Lmao what if sanctuary just periodically floated away and under valley
If it can float, then it is possible for the entire island to move.
I Guess
i think it would be on a more normal time cycle tho idk
Plot twist, the island is actually just a huge turtle, and the turtle that comes out at sunset is its child /j
Speaking of time.
The realms are seemingly frozen in time. And yet when skykids move forward (towards the temple. Or in Eden's direction), the day progresses forward. When skykids stay in one place, the day is stuck at that time. When skykids go backwards (away from eden), time goes backwards.
Moreover, in the season of Passage, we know that the realms can have different times in the day. Which means there is something else keeping time.
Going on a limb here, I propose a hypothetical theory that Eden (and/or its elder) was able to control Time, or Gravity.
This may explain why the castle can float (gravity powers) and by extension seemingly stop time.
There may be a theory to the Eden crystal being trapped in time.
If so, that would explain why it is shaking so violently. Time at the crystal is being help in place right at the moment where it exploded.
once again i choose to believe the passage thing is an eclipse bc once i have a solid headcanon its on tgc to pry it out of my cold dead hands
An eclipse can happen at any time. Seeing that the time Dawn changes to night in the realm.
That can certainly happen.
It confuses me alone that the Wasteland is under a layer of clouds, at water level. Just like the Isle of Dawn and Sanctuary?
I assume so yeah! That’s how I think angler got to santuary even by boat
Just if you think that the water level is a planet (conditionally the earth), then considering the theory of days, they should also change there, and YES! I see it in the Sanctuary there is a sunset
sanctuary floated under sunset ||thats how the nets got there|| /j also i am Sorry
By the way, yes, those islands of the abyss are also at water level (I always forget about them)
It actually makes sense for Wasteland to be that low.
We climb up at forest to Valley, then dive down from Valley through the clouds to Wasteland.
Wasteland is at the base of the mountain, so it makes sense to see the ocean there.
Here is an elevation concept art of the realms. While it is old, it does resemble what the current realms are like. (wrong one, let me find it real quick)
Yes! That's exactly what I think, In theory, because. The valley is also mountains (even a whole cluster of mountains) their foot is also somewhere near the water
It’s at least lower for sure, i think some of it would be above the clouds and some below
I like this theory a lot, especially given what we see. It looks like a partial solar eclipse
It's okay, I understood what you meant (I saw almost all the concepts)
found it. (I dont mind. Besides, this is also for anyone who happens to be reading along and may not have seen it)
Oooh this makes a lot of sense actually
I like this theory a lot, which also explains why Eden looks different in different places
It's rare hybrid eclipse
Ocean you say...
Does that mean sanctuary island is at the same height of wasteland?
They both have oceans.
Just different purity
I would believe so.
Seeing the Anxious Angler managed to sail on a water bound boat all the way from Abyss to Sanctuary.
There could also be multiple layers of clouds, like the ones above and below forest! I say “cloud layer” as a general thing for like, anything in the clouds
By the way, I looked at the posts you posted until I looked here. I want to supplement the theory of the force of gravity from the elder of Eden / king. Perhaps it is not a matter of some power in the king himself, but of the light. Let Eden plunge into darkness, but that flying part of the castle, which we see flying into orbit, emits light, and we can see a halo of light. Like the boats in the village of dreams, we light the crystal and it transmits light to the pillars and the boats rise into the air. I have a theory (which I actively use in my Sky universe) that light is responsible for levitation.
That would be possible.
In the game, clouds are used to hide distant areas, fill in gaps and is implied to be what obscures different areas from skykids.
While this is more of a game play feature, it also shown in murals hiding details from skykids.
Perhaps the clouds in part something used like an impenetrable fog.
Yep, anxious angler must've pass through something likes this on his way to sanctuary
Because yk, dark waters don't mix with normal waters
omg…thinking abt them seeing so much light and life for the first time
There may be something that can link Gravity defying islands, floating towers/platforms, and Eden.
Dark stone/ Dark Crystals/ Power Diamonds may be responsible for giving ancestors/elders gravity powers.
How we can prove this is by looking are various parts of Sky.
1 - The islands in Day (and on the Flight path) are one of the few places where we can find canonical floating structures. Meaning, I would not count entire levels because they are placed in the open air by developers. Since that can be dismissed as how the game was designed, and most games have levels floating in the void, which can be seen by going out of bounds, or looking in areas the game did not intend for you to see.
2 - The towers and platforms in both Valley and Vault float because of dark crystals embedded in the stone. The same goes to the any flying boat. The game makes it very clear that these stones need power to float.
3 - Refined dark stone acts like a battery for Light to be stored and used. When powered, it turns blue; when charged with Light it glows yellow; when unpowered, it turns black; and when corrupted, it turns red.
4- Raw dark stone seemingly does not need to be powered. Either because in an unrefined state, the stone works more efficiently but may not be as potent.
5- Even the red shards of dark stone is able to float, as seen in shard events. Where the more challenging shards have floating, red, dark stones.
All in all, we know the elders have the ability to manipulate gravity (as seen in the old Dawn cutscene with raising boats, and with Forest with levitating dark stone shards). Ancestors have similar abilities with manipulating gravity, although assumingly a lesser version with relying on flying boats that at times would be pulled by mantas and some ancestors being able to levitate small objects.
Eden is supposedly the capital of Dark stone technology. The only remains of this, are the kingdoms leading up to Eden. And the massive crystal.
is the water in the treasure reef that different from sanctuary?
Treasure reef actually seems to have more fish and underwater plants than sanctuary
It is interesting to imagine a line like that somewhere between the main part of wasteland and treasure reef
Treasure Reef's huge wildlife could be what came out of the leviathan on the last quest since you don't see that before
true, wonder if the dark seas slowly transitions into clean, the darkness diffusing from the source, or if there is such a sharp division between dark water and clean oceans. if the latter, wonder why the pollution would be so concentrated instead of spreading out
I don’t think entirely so, as some places fly without the help of light, but you do make a good point. Most things that fly/levitate use light
Sharp visible divisions aren't super common but it varies a lot depending on location. In most estuaries where saltwater meets freshwater, saltwater is much denser and ducks underneath the freshwater flow before eventually mixing. It's likely that dark water would be denser than regular freshwater or saltwater and sink, eventually diffusing into the clean water but damage would still be much higher closer to the seafloor than above it
If dark water is super duper dense it might have a more dramatic difference than this
I mean the water in treasure reef behaves similarly to sanctuary so I don't think that's dark water
The splashes sound dense too, I think we even move through it slower so I can definitely see that
Fair enough, I feel like from shipwreck to abyss tho there could be a big water division
oh absolutely yeah
I've always viewed dark water as a sort of waste product of darkstone production (slouch dni for the purposes of this post) so it could be something like how oil spills work?
Yeah definitely!! Would work as dark plants also have an oil sheen pattern to them
to clarify I do not believe slouch drinks oil but I am unsure otherwise
i feel like it would be similar to whatevers going on in steven universe, where the gems can eat food but don't need to
That’s exactly how I see skykids — nonbiological so no need to eat, but they can if they choose to. They need light to survive, but their flame gives them a constant supply of light, so anymore is additional and they can absorb it however, including eating with their mouths if they want to, prob for fun like at the teasets
A skykid's x-ray be like.
Doctor: "Either my machine is not calibrated right. Or your chest has a ball of flame, your inners are some kind of molten liquid, and your head is just... empty"
Moth: Confused honk
Doctor: "Is that a pizza slice where your stomach should be!?"
Moth: Even more confused honking
head empty only meem
Steven universe gif
I like the idea that sky kids are like gems from Steven universe in that way but imagine they have like fake food to eat that they find fun aswell like maybe the crabs or sea life eats in game and well they replicated that for their own enjoyment
Hey, everyone, I wonder if the boats in the first three pictures are the same kind as those in the last two pictures.
Their inlays look a little different. Or are they all the same?I mean, do they all use the power diamonds/dark stones?
This makes me very confused.
I'd appreciate it if you could answer it.
maybe the boats in the first 2 pictures are just very old and the dark stones/diamonds power faded after time. And the boats in the other pictures look more modern so maybe the spirits that travelled on it were from another generation? It's just some speculations tho!
the boats (and, consequently, the diamonds) could be covered in some sort of dirt/dust from being abandoned which would make them appear more dull
Thank you for your reply. It's possible. If they are all the same kind of ship, it seems that It is impossible for a ship of this shape to appear before the power diamond is discovered.
Question
Could crabs be used as emotional support creatures? (the uncorrupted ones in particular) /genc
skybot 😭
???????? skybot wth

Question of the day
Do sky kids need to eat
Or do they eat light? Or wax particles?
Lightblur question (ping when reply)
Who can I ask about sandwich salad? I want to ask it but I'm not sure if I should put it here :,)
Who?
what's your question? I'm not the creator but I like to think I have some level of understanding
may I dm?
sure
Is this a lore question?
I recall a discussion about soup that included salad. 😐
I put "lightblur" instead of "lore" for a reason.
lightblur
a lorechat headcanon
In that case, the person to reach would likely be Alasdair and Voluntary Insomniac
does anyone think theres a lore reason as to why sanctuary and flight areas have the same statues with the flight icon? ive been wondering why that is for a few days but havent gotten to asking this channel
I've thought the flight symbol is a weathervane
Could’ve been foreshadowing imo, the one in sanctuary does point to where the wind tunnel is. Astral also has a point as it could also be a weathervane too
thank u i was curious what people thought about it
Rereading this if you mean the flight symbol on the bells then I’d concider that foreshadowing. but if you mean the pillar outside the main entrance to santuary then that was added when flight started, all the realms have them scattered around
Santuary is where most light creatures are born and start migrating towards Eden. Or that is what they were supposed to do in the past (lorewise).
The wind vanes are used to indicate the wind current and thus the direcrion the light creatures would likeky be traveling in.
Flight paths have similsr wind vanes for the same reason.

im just vibing here bro
My theory is that manta's are really soft to pet.
oh, yeah.
If so, that’s interesting, because it means Flight was planned almost 1.5 years beforehand. Same with TLP and Dreams by associated?
tgc has said that's the case
That could mean the same for Prophecy, Dreams, and TLP if that’s the case
Well, yea
That’s how production works
Not like they’re gonna only start making the next season when the current one is going, especially if there’s new mechanics
Does anyone know what darkness is called in the Japanese version? I can’t check myself, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s referred to as kegare (穢れ), because darkness seems to be more associated with pollution than literal darkness as we in the west view it
I think they use “闇”, or yami
Yea, in fact in the pop-up text for Sanctuary Vortex, it explicitly describes the pollution as darkness.
Left unattended, darkness will spread and corrupt the creatures of light in the ocean.
To me, it would make sense to equate darkness with pollution as darkness so far seems to be a byproduct of the power diamond industry.
Its been hinted so far throughout the game, but this is the most explicit mention so far
sometimes I think about how the subtitle for the vortex was originally "Clean it up" it was so funny
Lmao it really was
it’s like scolding you 💀
It’s aggressive how succinct it is. “Go, now.”
Yes, which is why I feel the word Kegare is more apt
“Kegare (穢れ・汚れ, uncleanness, defilement) is the Japanese term for a state of pollution and defilement, important particularly in Shinto as a religious term.”
So when you pull out your candle to light things, the light on your chest disappears. Leading to believe that our candles that light things are our souls.
SO
I have this head cannon that in order for sky people to have children, they both have to use their own candles to light a single candle that they both made together. They built the candle and lit it with both of their souls to create a new soul.
I have to ask what they'd be doing that for
Idk. Just a thought.
fair enough
I just noticed in the game you see these characters that seem to be families and that got me thinking like.. h o w? Ya know?
the spirits might not be like skykids in that sense
True but then there's a deeper thought process of where the sky kids came from
the sky, I think
Like maybe there were couples who knew they wanted to be parents and decided to make candles in advance until they were ready and they were just never lit.
Theeeen something might have happened to accidentally light those candles.
And with my theory of needing two souls to produce one is a thing, then that means it would be almost impossible for those unlit candles or "children" right?
But say after the world reclaimed itself, one of the elders or all of the elders or an unknown higher power to the elders decided to light the candles themselves and boom.
Sky kids. Tasked to restore the light.
bruh...
My brain is zooming.
wow!
I think your forgetting the into cutscene where we literally fall out of the sky
Plus with orbits context I just assume skykids are fallen stars yaknow? Like when we ascend the statues they become one with the stars after orbit
Right but what if that a generalized analysis for death in sky? Like when you die, you become the stars. In theory, you go to a "heaven" of sorts.
But what if that higher power decided to bring those unlit candles to the heavens for them to be lit and then cast back to earth? And considering that the parents hypothetically forged the candle, that makes every "candle" different. Makes all of us different physically.
But if a god lit those candles, that means our souls are pieces of that higher power.
Which would explain how we are able to come back to earth every time we die i.e. Eye of Eden.
Meaning we are immortal.
We are children of the gods.
Cool idea, though personally I just think it’s as simple as being personified stars sent down to free trapped spirits, but you do you
There is an interesting parallel with Sky and real life here.
Candles are referenced in various religions and cultures to represent a person's life. That and a symbol of remembrance.
It is common in mythos (mythologies) for stars to be people of the past (ancestors) looking down on mortals.
That is a good theory, well done TAE
Tyty
touching on the two souls = one life idea.
Concept art mentions skykids to be a hybrid of ancestors and light creatures.
Therefore, it is possible for skykids to have multiple souls, in some way.
Especially when one considers the winged light we collect to be souls as well.
Similar to a skykid collection souls to become stronger, the Megabird is a being made of many pieces of Light. Where each piece can be a soul of an ancestor, a light creature or just a force of life in general.
I've been brewing this for a while. There's probably holes in my theory's now and later on but like 👀
That also kinda makes sense. Since it's candles and light, the source of the light that created the "candle" isn't specified.
cool theory, stinky. I am your number 1 fan.
ey, you are perfectly valid to share your thoughts, theories and engage with others on this channel.
It is called Lore Chat for a reason.
We talk about the lore, talk about the game, and even get up to banter whenever.
Sky lore in a nutshell is "the lore is open to interpretation."
Meaning, while part of the lore can be open to discussions. Whether it is finding out what the lore is, what could be canon (be it past, present of future in the live game), or theorising on what may not be proven to be canon.
Which in turns opens the conversation up to fanon, headcanons, or even sharing interest in the game.
Even if the candles theory is my main theory, it can also be added to as well. Especially since you brought up the light thing. By technicality, all of the living creatures are made of light meaning the product of another light wouldn't matter.
If you were to put parallel to real life, I think my candle theory would also be super inclusive. (Just a fun little thought.)
For example, there's no limit as to how many souls are needed to create one soul.
So Poly families could all come together as one to become a family.
Women could have children together. Men could have children together. Nonbinary, etc.
My brain is tickled and I think it's adorable.
I’d imagine Skykid “families” would be like how real children play families/house games, with Skykids just choosing who to be part of it
One of the biggest bases for all my headcanons is that the skykids are just like real children, personality wise
ok so can i say something about eden
What about it
eden is red, right? the coldest kind of fire. it explodes red aswell, also the coldest kind of fire!
what if we take into account this? our candle fires are yellow/yellow-white, so different kinds of fire do exist in sky
Each color of light usually in Sky represents something physical (like light magic), but also something thematic (like blue being the color of darkness while yellow is the color of light)
imagine being a new moth, going to prairie, and seeing the big mountain in the back turn white then dark blue
Like different family lines
yeah but like we're talking about fire (usually fires in sky are red or yellow)
Interesting, Eden used to be teal-ish blue in the Light Awaits beta.
It was probably changed due to design reasons, after all red is a much more imposing color usually than blue
Colour in Sky is symbolic.
White/Yellow = Holiness/Purity/ Light (capital letter intended)
Orange = Greatness (similar to Yellow, but not as grand) (Also, this is a headcanon)
Blue = Ancestor (Spirit) / Technology (Dark stone)
Black = Death/Absense of Light
Red = Corruption
Red is similar to the orange and yellow hues of Light. However, it is a twisted version of the Light. A version that is as powerful, but all the more dangerous.
It’s worth nothing that spirits start blue, but once they ascend, they become yellow, very similar to how dark stones work. I think blue symbolizes the absence of Light
I do apologize if my theories are a little too close to humanity. I used to be super huge into paragraph role play and world building so when it comes to fleshing out lore it's like
The ascended spirits becoming yellow means they have moved closer to the Light and away from the Darkness.
Which makes sense since they are physically closer to the Light (Orbit)
I’m not going to tag her because I don’t know if she’s seen the days of nature stuff yet and I don’t want to accidentally spoiler here, but fun fact — Let had this exact theory about how krill happened a while ago and I am so excited that she was proven correct!!
Now the end credits where it zooms out to the Megabird makes sense to me 👀
To think the game can be this deep. 🙂
To worth noting: Megabird is visually based on the Lanikea Supercluster, which is an incredibly large cosmic cluster.
If a group of Skykids is a constellation, it could be thought of that Megabird, analogous to a supercluster, is a collection of all the skykids/creatures of light.
Oooo
Okay so bells are everywhere in the game right
Well I googled what to bells symbolize and here is the result
“Bells symbolize the beginning and ending, even a warning or a call to order”
So that is super important because bells in the story is a call to order under the ruler or to summon the creatures of the land to help , they are a warning in the war among the sky people, and they symbolize the begging and ending of the sky kids life when they die and revive back into the empty world
We are Many We are One /j
Oh also
Some of the sound effects we make sound like bells, like in some of the spirit cutscenes the spirits move their hands or even brushing themselves off sound like bells
WHAAT THAT'S REAL /GENQ
WAAAHHH THAT'S SO PRETTY
skykids also have bells apparently to get the spirits' attentions bell instrument when so i just think it's cute
That’s true I also thought that was cute as well I’m just pointing out that the bell detail is prob more important then we initially thought
Does anyone know for how long it’s been there?
I assume since santuary is released, I know it was there pre flight
This message makes me think so
I will add that I wouldn’t be surprised if that sign was always there & Flight’s symbol is just based off it, instead of the other way around
Yaya that can also work!
I feel like I remember them being a constant presence since I started playing and not added later, but I could be wrong; my memory is far from infallible
This was from 2 years ago so yeah I guess it was always there
I think it was only the pillars pointing to the windpaths that were added a little before flight released
There’s also the symbol where the spirits would be for aurora concert too which is cool
When the last tree in Hidden Forest has fallen and the rivers in Golden Wasteland are poisoned, you cannot eat darkstone oh no
I haven’t seen anyone else mention this in response to the question, but flight and sanctuary have a major connection! Both of their seasonal areas have similar themes with being sanctuaries for light creatures, although the Sanctuary Islands are more obvious; but Light Whisperer’s card also contains a tidbit about some of the creature’s they’ve helped in the past living in Sanctuary as well.
For the presence of the icon in Sanctuary Islands, those signs were always there. I like to think they’re weathervanes and just aren’t animated to change with the wind, but they also could be directional signs telling boats where to go. Flight’s symbol is just probably based off them (and other signs around Prairie).
Ooo I forgot about light whispers tidbit or santuary! Can imagine both areas working well togeather to help and preserve the creatures there since flight guide is
‘s apprentice, and thus in extention would also be connected to Prarie!
Santuary and Flight crew have Sunday brunch together
Yeah!!! It’s really sweet
I headcanon it was the bad baldie bros who dumped fishing equipment in the sea.
The same bad baldie bros from remembrance spirit memories, because I am so antagonist starved.
I actually put all the fishing equipment in there because I hate nature and nuance and being nice
You would get along with my favorite returning villains, the bad baldie bros!
Yeah I love to utterly DESTROY nature!!! I have mantas for breakfast!! (/j)
I know…
People of my own heart
Just because YOU love to make fun of Sah for being a manta puncher (false accusations btw!!) doesn’t mean THEY influenced me smh
first thing i noticed was the cages and nets that you see in the concert
anything in sky: (exists)
me: bro this is just like the concert…..
That I get cuz I assume they’re being taken for darkstone production
HII I JUST REALLY WANNA PUT THIS HERE
How (uncorrupted) crabs could be used as emotional support
I definitely see uncorrupted crabs connecting with Skykids/ancestors who were once malicious but reformed after a certain amount of time.
Crabs by nature, helps other crabs up when knocked down. I like to see that crabs, in a figurative perspective, helps these skykids/ancestors "up" when they are recovering or "knocked out"
Also extra note I could definitely see crabs being like cats. Laidback, doesn't really mind their surroundings, only defending when needed
Awe ya totally! Passage guide even feeds crabs on holidays from their info card so that could be really cute
CRAB FEEDING!!!!

What do they even eat?
What is more important for a Skykids survival.
Light or heat?
We know Skykids consume fire for energy, but does the light of the fire or the heat itself feul the child?
If a Skykids in a dark but hot room would they recharge their cape??
Maybe both?
I believe it’s light
thank you for the lovely serotonin myst
My reasoning being that we get regeneration from clouds and clouds reflect light
But maybe their food is fire?
Like light is energy but like fire or heat is like sustenance if they want to eat it for fun?
Candles used to be made out of tallow and tallow is from animal fat.
If the candles in sky are made out of tallow where does that come from? 😰
Uh oh looks at the mantra rays
Wait Skykids sorta consume wax right?
Thinks skykids just makes light candles out of the wax we get
Yeah but that means at some point those before us did that to make candles
... that doesn't sound like the worst thing that could happen tbh
A Skykid pulling out their candle from their chest is like pulling out your beating heart from your own 🤔
not really! if you take out a candle to light another candle, the fire just spreads from one to the other
How nice of them to make my own mask!
also it totally looks like a big cat more than a bear
One of the raw materials for the power diamond smelting process may be starlight. What do you think of this view?
Put the starlight in a jar and ship it to the rainforest.(I'm sorry to release so many pictures, I think it should be easier to explain this point.)
Ooohhhhh honestly that clears things up
I’m assuming it’s some form of trade up the ladder
Smelting->crafting->stored with knowledge and to power things-> and maybe even used in weapons
That’s cool to think about, but the first image is regular light from birds, so not exactly starlight, as it eariler shows a flock of them passing over in that cutscene. Plus abyss shows mantas being used to make power diamonds too from multiple murals which all full of light. We even set two cages of them free which implies they were being kept. And Forest temple also has a cutscene of mantas being released when their realm is shown to be involved with darkstone mining.
And you also got Warrior of loves segment of aurora shown mantas being captured and caged too, probably to also be transported to factories and all
This mural is more like a biological experiment. It may be that mantas extract energy and transfer it to power diamonds. These two processes do not conflict, because starlight is generated randomly, and when it is difficult to obtain, something else is needed to take its place.
I think the power diamond itself does not contain energy, it needs other substances containing energy to fill it.Starlight, the energy of mantas, and so on, are all possible.
Yaya i can see that, just for me personally i don’t see anything that would point to the use of starlight in power diamonds but it’s cool nonetheless
That's true. There is only one clear use of starlight in current murals: turning it into colorful magic. I wish starlight had more ways to use diamonds independently of power, such as a starlight boat, but I didn't find it.(The new season may be related to starlight, but it is not clear at present.)
From the types of shields, it can be concluded that the holders of round shields and pentagonal shields clashed, which led to the great war in the golden wasteland. The symbol on this round shield is starlight, and starlight has to have energy comparable to that of the other faction to get spirits' support.
Even where power diamond mining is not supported (Isle), there are a large number of power diamond boats. During the flight season, their private spacecraft is inlaid with many power diamonds, even if it is pulled by manta. If the energy of starlight can be used independently, the spirits can not use energy diamond at all.
Also,it takes a lot of time and energy to collect so much starlight and transport it in large quantities. Such behavior needs to be profitable to continue.Their destination is not vault of knowledge, but the forest.
A Question for you all (idk if it is the place to ask this but oh well)
If Skykids can eat. Do have teeths or they do something else to consume Grandma's Food?
That would be a lore related question, so this is the right place.
Do they have teeth?
The canon lore does not outright confirm that skykids have mouths in the game. However, they can call out, and have eating animations. Therefore, skykids likely do have mouths. And them visually lacking mouths in the game could be a stylistic choice.
Especially with considering Aurora and The Little Prince in the game.
What else do they eat other than Granny's food?
There is the tea set, picnic table and other interactables.
What we cannot eat in the game though are pizza slices, and cake. Just because there is no animation for it.
However, we should be able to according to the lore.
Which means that not all things in the game directly lines up with with the lore.
Thank you for your answer! It is greatly appreciated even tho I certainly don't get it!
The short answer is, as fan lore, yes they do.
You are always welcome to ask lore related questions.
What would you like clarification on?
nah you just answered it uikhsdnmuihdsnuhs sorry! But Thank you once again!
Skykids and Skyteens.
I present to you a Puppy ✨
(posting this here because I love lorechat.)
Feel free to use this adorable creature for your own server emojis.
(please do credit this. I'd greatly appreciate it)
AAAAAA THAT IS SO CUTE RAIDER

MANATEE!
Oh god not this discussion again
Don't worry, it did not go wrong as in past conversations.
It’s not a bad topic, just a funny one
Is it just me or do manta pups share some similarities with krill?
Elaborate
Well manta pups are one of the only few light creatures that we’ve seen that have a visible eye, and it just so happens to be really large, in the exact same spot as a krill’s would be, and have a very similar glow.
,, you mean the seals
…isn’t that what people have been calling them?
People have also been calling them porpoises, something else I can't remember, and manatees.
you're calling them "manta pups" which confuses me because when i hear pups i think baby and think of the baby mantas flying around near the sanctuary guide which,, aren't the same creature as the ones we're saving in Nature
(if this comes off as rude that was not intended)
Personally I call them baby manatees.
i call them ouppy because when they were revealed slink’s message with the photo was “OUPPY” and i think thats funny
Same here, to me they'll always be ouppy
Fun fact: The Dark Dragons have 9 eyes (1 of them is the big eye)
To add to the who the Sky seal pups could be as an adult.
I would like to propose this thing.
And to substantiate the theory, I would like to direct one's attention to concept art from Animation Project.
It is worth taking note in Sky that some creatures would develop additional limbs as they grow in size.
A good example of this would be mantas. Whereas the small ones have 1 pair of wings, and the greater manta has 2 pairs.
Therefore, there is a chance that this Puppy would possibly grow up to become this fantastical beast.
Hey guys! I have a question and I don't know if this would be the right channel..
Is it maybe possible that one of the new spirits, the Tumbling Troublemaker, is inspired by this gif🤭🤭:
very possible
I don’t know for sure but I hope so dearly that the answer is yes
Even if it is not. The lorechat would probably back you up.
The new spirit is absolutely based on that GIF. Source: Trust me /j-ref
Alright! I love that we're all on the same page here🤭
Is it just me or did the season of Aurora not really give any lore or in world explanation for who she was? Or why the concert? Like, it was cool.
But from the promo material I thought it was going to add to the story of the world, and it ended up feeling like just "what if AURORA but in Sky?"
Is there something I missed?
Alright, so
Crabs and krill like to attack players,
And they do this to consume your light
And judging from the campfire in wasteland and the cutscene from season of little prince quest tree that they can show emotion and aren't just mindless killing machines
So maybe the reason they consume light is to stay alive, and if they don't consume enough light they will starve and turn into stone statues (similar to the stone statues that sky kids turn into when they run out of light)
From what I’ve seen, Aurora is more of a storyteller.
The focus of the season is on the world of sky, the song she’s sings are stories i see being true to the game, but not really about her, which I think is the point. Plus it would be a little weird if a real life person was put in the game and affected the actual main story.
It actually did give us more story about the world of Sky. Aurora was more a medium for the story instead of being the focus of the story.
That too! The concert gave so much info like: deeper insight to the wasteland war and reveals more questions (cyan light falling and attacking and the spear rain). Ancestors also Ttavling to isle from another place, forest caves and mines being unstable and not just a one off accident. Even mantas being captured and caged with solidifies the idea more their light was used for power diamonds
A lot of stuff
Hmm, thanks all! I think the concert may have been too overstimulating for me to really process all the visuals, but those are good points. Maybe I'll look up some YouTube videos of the concert and re-watch.
really?
I have a theory that the spirits never learned how to make the wheel. Too many flying boats!
They had diamond wheels
Although many people have talked about that the role of Aurora in Sky, I remind you that it’s up to interpretation what their role was.
In my opinion, given the mural referencing them in the Harmony Hall, Aurora was probably a prominent musical spirit of some sort
Maybe aurora was a famous singer with jellyfish haircut
HI I JUST REALLY WANNA POINT THIS OUT BECAUSE I HAD THIS THOUGHT LAST NIGHT
What if.. The colored lights were a byproduct of light itself? We know that light can split itself into different colors.
As for how the colored lights got their magical capabilites, I assume it was just adapted from their original environment.
Idk I just really like this thought
Hopefully more of this thought comes in my mind soon
That’s a good thought we did collect the same coloured lights as that rainbow in the image so perhaps returning all those coloured lights to forgotten ark restored the light there
Adding onto my original message:
Maybe (if this does end up being true) in the future we could end up stumbling across an area in golden wasteland or starlight dessert that is littered with statues of crabs and krill
Hello, everyone.I want to know which faction Saluting Captain is from the Golden Wasteland.
I didn't find any shields. Do you have any ideas?
Since both factions seem to use power diamonds, I'm not sure if he is the holder of the round shield.
The ship ran aground outside the wall of fort, more like the attacking party, that is, the party with the pentagonal shield.
Or are they here to reinforce the round shield holders?
Where
From what I could see, it is Anxious Angler's memory
9 eyes and they still can’t see me behind a medium sized rock
They are like kittens
krill lackk objective permanence
you're awesome!
Your awesome too sky bot
Four on the top side of the head.
Four more underneath. And thent he big eye in between.
I wonder if light dragons have so many eyes
My headcanon is they may be connected to the eel like creature you see swimming around in Treasure reef.
The ine with a long slender body, mutliple legs/fins and a flayed tail.
I'll look in my files for the image, although it also has multiple eyes. 👀
note it was not easy trying to get a good picture of this thing lol.
Note that it is not easy trying to get a good picture of this thing. Lol
In my opinion, it is entirely possible that the memory took place before the division of factions
Why did the Ancestors harvest creatures for light when literally everything in the kingdom was made of it? Clouds, plants, even magic. Surely, they could’ve found a renewable energy source for power diamonds.
I don't think plants or clouds contain light the ancestors could harvest
partially basing this on a concept art, but the light creatures are shown to migrate from and back to the light
they're pure embodiments of light as a whole
yaya, like for us skykids we can get light,l from clouds/plants and even one magic spell but if it was the case ancestors could too, there would be no power diamonds in the first place.
I assume it was the fastest way too, and they did try to catch free roam light seen in laughing light catchers memory. But it was also slow, catching a few light bundles every so often as even getting them in jars was hard enough. And demand growing couldve made them look for faster solutions.
Power diamonds are sky’s version of electricity/power source to the point nearly everything new was built off it. Darkstone practically replaces light later in the timeline for its uses. So efficiency takes over morality
Like if you don’t find a system to efficiently create power diamonds in a world that is growing and relies on it then that just slows everything down
To be fair, skykids are very efficient light consumers.
We can charge each other up with just a candle. While an ancestor would likely need much more light to power a boat.
We may not know how much power is needed to power a boat, but we know a skykid take very little light to generate their own, and can give enough out to power other structures for a short period of time.
I just hope the ancestors did not use skykids to power their machine, now that we are certain that ancestors and skykids once existed.
This is likely the darkest theory I would have on the lore chat.
What if the skykids we save in the final area of Eden were trying to escape the ancestors?
They were traveling up the mountain, away from the safety of Vault and marched to death in the chaotic and restless storm.
Imagining a skykid being drained of light, and then given a candle to charge themselves back up sounds harrowing.
I really do hope that this is just a messed up theory and not true in the canon lore.
Skykids didn’t even exist during the ancestors era and its really unbecoming to suggest ancestors would use skykids for power, hurting and/or killing them in the meanwhile
All ancestors we have met so far love skykids or, if not enthusiastic, appreciated and were fond of them. Given skykids resemble ancestor children while light creatures are animals, it is much easier for a whole society to agree hurting animals is a necessary evil to survive rather than juvenile entities that resemble their own kin.
It would be incredibly horrifying, and probably unlikely
I would humbly direct to the latest memories of season spirits interacting with skykids.
(implying that they knew skykids in life)
And the Season of Performance stage play notes, as those suggested the ancestors possible seeing and meeting skykids, though that was not directly shown.
No, those are the spirits in the present interacting with skykids, not spirit memories
Furthermore, season of Prophecy had an even more obscure implication that skykids were able to complete the trails, whereas ancestors were not able to do so.
We can see this in the murals where a glowing figure is shown completing the trails, which is similar to the figure used to represent skykids. And laying down figures that represent fallen ancestors (who are also see in the prophecy spirits' memories as the students)
Do you even realize how much backlash TGC would get if they put evidence of Sky kids being used, killed, and exploited by Ancestors in the game?
Can somebody help me unlock the gate at the first elder temple
Using animals is one thing. Using literal children is very much another.
As for the murals, the ones in the Cave of Prophecies only ever depicts one (1) skykid. All the other humanoid figures on there are ancestors and Elders.
If any skykids existed during the ancestor era, it was just that one skid
Sky is a game about helping the world move on from a catastrophe. We choose to help the Spirits move on to the afterlife. If Sky Kids were exploited by the Ancestors and we were then expected to save them and help them despite what they'd done to us, that'd send a very messed up message.
1 skykid walking into a cave, may mean there may be more skykids elsewhere.
As how the season of Performance stageplay references on of the few skykids arriving in Dawn entering a cave.
Yeah like let’s just totally make this game about companionship and friends include killing children in cold blood, I’m sure tgc would have an amazing reception and be praised💀
This would be sending a message that says 'You should forgive and help the people who have abused and hurt you.' Which is not something that should ever be put in a game.
I'm sure you're right. But it is a very human centric view that makes one seem more horrifying than the other. IDK, reading Sky Raider's theory was about as upsetting for me as when I realized power diamonds were made from light animals.
I think you're right that people in- and outside of TGC wouldn't go for it. But I also understand Sky Raider wondering how dark TGC is willing to go. They've surprised us before.
genuinely sky wouldn’t be 9+ on the AppStore if skykids were deliberately killed by ancestors. Killing light creatures was a bad thing, yea, but showing that fact was so suptle that it’s easy to miss. Doing that with skykids would have more focus as they themselves who we play as would be killed, that’s not something that can be casually shown in a mural
now this is a certified three core values moment
-
if there were more skykids during the ancestors era, namely outside the Cave of Prophecies, wouldn't we see more murals depicting them elsewhere?
-
our skykid tells the Performance story, so it's likely a narrative skykids made themselves, whether adapted from Forgetful Storyteller's memory cubes or recounting their own or other skykids' experiences. entering Dawn Elder's temple and meeting Dawn is something all moths go through. likewise, there's a nonzero chance that some of the kids the Performance story talks about may be ancestor children, not skykids.
-
stop pinging me, please and thank you
A dark story is one thing. But child abuse and murder goes far past the limits. This is a game that children play. Do you think parents would just let their kids play Sky if they knew it depicted child abuse and murder? Or even let the fact that Sky depicts it in the first place slide?
TGC would get drowned in lawsuits and shut down.
it's shown that citadel has enough light to recharge skykids naturally, maybe light flowed better in some places and allowed them to make things like that, but only in specific areas
that is definitely a good question
there's also zero evidence in game that ancestors used skykids as callously as resources like they did light creatures. as mentioned previously, all spirits we've met so far are fond of skykids and hurting them on purpose wouldn't fit previously established behavior
Exactly! Like if sky was a marketed from the beginning to have a darker theme it could work, because players would’ve expect the game to have darker themes. But child murdering and killing when the game is market to not be that? Like no
Truly the most totally true and real theory of all time /s
sorry but trying to shoehorn in some of these needlessly edgy ideas feels like it completely breezes past one of the core fundamentals of what skys story is trying to present
you can have darker themes present and they are in the game but like
Even Cackling Cannoneer, who felt jealous of us bringing back more power diamonds than them, was never actively malicious towards us. Sure they wanted to try and do better than us and got into danger because of it, but they never actively tried to harm us.
HELP YEAH
also there was only evidence of one skykid existing during the ancestors era. to kill that skid off for power would be a waste of potential and not make sense. if you only had one living thing of interest and weren't sure whether you would ever see more in your lifetime, why would you kill it?
even with fanmade stuff like!!!! there’s more beyond dark themes and ideas than just oo what if CHILD murder and needless violence and for some godforsaken reason people will even put in bigotry and racism and like
majority of the time it’s done without any tact whatsoever and is so out of field when you look at what sky is about
wait who was the one skykid that existed pre-storm/during ancestor era? i thought they only came down from the stars after the kingdom had fallen
Chosen One depicted on the Cave of Prophecies murals and in the Eden mural. I call them Storm
“Sky is open to interpretation”
“Ancestors killed skykids for light even though the entire game disproves that.”
“Sky is open to most interpretation”
We chose to dive down to save Cannoneer because we wanted to. We absolutely could have just left them to the Leviathan. But we didn't. And when we saved Cannoneer, they weren't angry that we came after them, or upset that they had to be saved. They were grateful to us. And by saving them, we helped them and their crewmates move on and find peace.
isn't that the prince/king?
"Sky is open to interpretation... no, not like that"
This entire theory is just baffling
if you twist enough lines and push together enough dots sky is actually about the mcdonalds franchise and how ronald mcdonald plans to take over the world that’s my interpretation
many in the fandom refer to them as the prince/king, but that is derived from concept art without much correlation in game. I think Chosen One/Storm is the current iteration of the king in Live, taking their role but not the same character
looping back to this question, since sky has a lot of environmentalist themes, I personally believe that if they could harvest light from the environment, it may have not been enough, but especially they likely depleted a lot of natural light sources or accidentally ruined them, to a point where there had to be lightseekers.
The treatment of light creatures helps parallel to how certain ppl treat livestock; Like I imagine light was very strong in light creatures, and when you have a growing society who depends on that resource, it started to become desperate to meet demand I imagine
if ancestors didn't kill skykids, why can the boxes fit skids?, checkmate !?! (featuring @hushed steeple )
get vortex’d
"I really do hope that this is just a messed up theory and not true in the canon lore."
have you LOOKED at the canon lore, buddy? it's literally everywhere, directly shown, to you, directly, especially through the very last thing you do with every season guide is a hug that ancestors love being around sky kids so why the absolute hell would they be killing them off for any reason
its like the pear wiggler but for skykids
I can also fit children in my laundry bin but that not how you should wash a child /lh
Yaya i also like this! Like they could’ve but for the sake of keeping production constant it didn’t work out
short people containment cell

HSBEJEBJDVD
short kings look out I saw a hawk today /ref
Yeah! Like yeah I can see some Ancestors having believed themselves to be better than Ancestors from other realms, but not everyone is like that. In fact I have a headcanon that the Elders would annually hold festivals in a rotation through the realms so that Ancestors from other realms could come to visit that realm and learn about their culture specifically to keep people from feeling that they were superior to those of other realms. It's a celebration of what makes each realm unique.
ive got the theory that the ancestor species also maybe couldnt use or produce light as naturally as the skids can, so they had to harvest it elsewhere and develop technology to harness it properly
on the lookout rn sure hope i don’t get snatched up by a hawk that sure would be awful yknow especially since

sad sky story(very sad) (angsty): one day prophecy guide wsa feeling rlly rlly down so they went outside and sat down “wow im so miserable” they SIGHED and then went inside the cave again and hit their drum (they had four in their collection) but then their drum BROKE
Let's see...
Sky non-season observations:
A kingdom that once lived in harmony but fell into darkness because 'they did not listen'.
There is a mural at the very start of Dawn that shows a skykid. Someone had to have drawn that. (another piece of evidence showing either a skykid in the past drew that, or the ancestors knew of skykids).
There was a war and many warriors and light creatures died.
Then there is Eden, a dead realm where not even ancestor spirits can be found. Just Dark Dragons and the one pipe with supposedly small light creatures flying through there.
Season lore:
Season of Gratitude - First season where skykids help season spirits
Season of Lightseekers - A group of spirits with abilities not all ancestors do not have.
Season of enchantment - An ark that fell from the sky in a realm of war.
Season of Shattering - Need I say more about that?
Season of Aurora - literally the theme of the season was about the ancestors royally messed up war and death. But also rebirth.
The lore of Sky is notorious for reading in between the lines. Because the game does not spell out the story to players.
That is why the dark elements fly right over young children's heads.
The darker parts of the lore may be upsetting, since it involves death, war and corruption.
I find it quite a shame that whenever this gets brought up, it does not get addressed without being called out as harmful to children or upsetting.
Dw the Prophets make them a cool new drum. With cat carvings on it.
we don't see racoon /tails/ at all in sky
racoons are mythical creatures like dragons are to us in sky kid world
there's a difference between covering dark themes with nuance versus pointless child murder
this is so sad, can we hit 50 likes
y'know i think maybe we can just let sky raider have their own interpretation of the lore and also have our own interpretations separately in peace lol
Exactly what Alasdair said. You're saying we're not addressing the dark parts properly but you're the one who said 'Hey what if the Ancestors exploited and murdered Sky Kids for profit?'
Yeah lets just kill children that’s an amazing interpretation
only 5 likes……….prophecy has now exploded no more season of prophecy
make that 6 likes
prophecy explodes only a little
Ok but the relentless mocking of someone's interpretation for over 30 minutes just seems like a bit much guys
they're the one who brought this off-the-walls edgy idea out into a public forum in the first place. if they didn't want to be lambasted for something so comically anti-Sky, perhaps they shouldn't have suggested it.
it's also not the first time someone brought up the skykids being murdered by ancestors idea to be pointlessly edgy.
i think child murder is a bit much too but that’s just me yknow
prophecy does a little bit of exploding
Talking to us about nuance and dark topics but putting something needlessly edgy in like child murder and exploitation is hypocritical.
theyre... allowed to talk about their own lore ideas in the lore chat? in the public forum discord channel designed for talking about lore?? you don't have to like their theories but you also dont have to make the whole chat about dumping on them with memes and all
sorry for laughing at clowns when they show up at the circus
lore chat: there was a war
lorechat: a lot of people died in there
also lorechat: tsadi tuesdays
lorechat: There is a machine that used to make dark crystals
lorechat: What could have been used to power it?
lorechat: light?
also lorecaht: where do we get light?
☁️ 🕯️ 🔥
What else would it use?
Calculating the needed amount of sneep snorp for #lore-discussion-spoilers...
can we stop now otherwise im gonna ping mods to resolve this, i dont want to see arguing in here.
also, as someone who's really uncomfortable with the idea of adults abusing children, especially on a massive scale, making fun of how comical such a concept would be in Sky's setting about healing, friendship, and mutual love is an apt coping mechanism
agreed, i'd just like to go back to having lorechat be about discussing lore
how is hm i think the idea of child murder Doesnt belong in sky such a controversial take
and since it's a public forum on a public Discord channel, anyone is welcome to comment on their ideas
nobody's saying its controversial i'm just saying if you don't like a thing you can simply ignore it and not engage 🙃
It's also a discord with a policy of "be nice." Relentless mocking and saying "they deserve to be mocked" really doesn't feel like it lines up with that.
<@&600489743716712458>
are you actually pinging mods in defense of someone who's suggesting child murder in Sky?
that is exactly what just happened
no, im pinging because the arguing needs to stop
take it to dms or something please?
okay but how is jumping to child murder not out of left field, the game literally shows ancestors being affectionate with skykids
got damn
I mean...theories are kinda meant to be criticized? Otherwise nobody would come up with different ideas about the same thing.
just because people don't agree doesn't mean every discussion is an argument, damn
you keep throwing the phrase "child murder" around like some kind of horrific gotcha
dude.
im not defending, heck no, but im stopping this before it gets out of hand
i dont want to see yall muted over this.
because that's literally what Raider suggested and is still defending
if the thing looks too wholesome, some people want to make this dark for no reason
so it would've been better not to ping the mods over a nonissue
Don’t think there’s any other way to put it though
seems kinda like one atm, and even if it isnt now, could be in the future
just trying to look out for you but :/
at what point did they defend "child murder" as a concept. sure their theory is offbrand with the game but i feel like peoples dislike for a game theory is getting way out of hand
I don't think that dark theories are bad. But there's a difference between a dark theory and a tasteless theory. Raider's theory is pretty tasteless.
sacrificing a child to power something is still killing a child, is it not?
hold on lemme just say young adolescent who’s no longer living due to needlessly gruesome ideas
im losing my mind, what is happening
i dont know, but i want it to stop
historically, pinging mods in this channel has led to us getting punished and not the offender, so that is going to cause the opposite of what you intended. thanks
just got Panera bread y’all want any
I’ll take the loaf
ooh can i have some i love bread
bro all they did was post a theory you thought was bad. they haven't committed an offense against the discord TOS
well sorry but :/
giving y’all bread there’s also broccoli mac n cheese n the rest of the sandwich
I love seeing people's theories here. However! There's a difference between a dark theory and one that goes past dark into edgy for the sake of it.
Here's the thing:
Even if Skykids are a powerful source of light, we would see such an important thing happening, right? The Season of Shattering shows that light creatures such as mantas and birds were thrown into the Eden Diamond.
Another thing to mention: The game would be extremely different if more than one Skykid existed among the Ancestors.
Also, if Skykids were more powerful, wouldn't they simply defeat/evade the Ancestors?
Although a war between Skykids and Ancestors seems like a cool idea for a fanfiction of some sort, implying that TGC would have such a needlessly dark topic would be incredibly odd, even if they allude to other dark topics in the back.
sure! and if you see a theory that you don't like, just ignore it and move on lol. i think it was overboard for the chat to become "lets dogpile this guy cause we dont like their theories" for over 30 minutes
Like Sky's dark topics are mostly shown to us and not explicitly told. Throwing something dark into the forefront of the game would be out of character for TGC and would definitely add to the age rating.
Clarification on the theory about skykids meeting ancestors.
It is considered a dark theory based on the mystery on what the ancestors did that was so terrible.
The theory is based on the skykid statues in Eden. And the question that would raise.
Were these skykids sacrificing their light just like our skykids are doing? Were they forced to do so since they seemingly dont have capes?(note that is a long shot since out own statues end up capeless).
Not once have I suggested the things Alasdair is drawing conclusion of.
What I am adament about is whether ancestors did meet skykids in their lives.
That is what I am intending to discuss.
in ushering stargazer's memory, we see them and another spirit (i forget the name of) standing above a fallen skychild
whether or not they were alive back then im not sure as we see their memories as them being spirits
I think the Skykid statues in Eden could be recent, given that we look the exact same when we run out of light in Eden
ooh maybe!
hmm....
These are good questions.
There is a lot that can be discussed.
Sadly, I dont know to be honest.
Skykids can be stronger, yes. Yet they are smaller. Which is considered weaker in Sky logic where larger creatures are more powerful (ex. Ancestor compared to Elders).
I hope TGC would ellaborate on this in due time in the game. As where there is a lack of evidence on something, it leaves room for speculation.
Hence the possibility to be wrong on other things, but also the possibility to be right on others.
after giving our light around to the statues we see the sky kids maybe souls jump out of the statue
i wonder if this is all new sky kids every time, replaced as more come around to free their fellow sky kids ? though that makes me wonder if it were true how are we reborn yk
hey, alasdair, buddy. i see you've been typing for a long time now. have you considered maybe stepping away for a bit
you're evidentially new here. first off, you don't have to break TOS for something to be offensive or in poor taste.
secondly, I've frequented lorechat for over a year and here is a list of things that have happened when mods got involved:
-
there was a user here who made numerous racist comments and kept getting away with it. eventually they made one targetted towards me and I told them off. when mods came in, they said simply to "step back from your computer if you're upset" and never addressed the racist comments or the racist in question.
-
a user who was suspected to be underaged at the time had a history of annoying us in here, derailing conversations and posting inappropriate content that broke the server rules. the user asked one of us if they were friends, said person said an apt "no," and the user pinged the head mod, leading to the person being muted for a couple hours.
-
a lot of us are LGBTQ+ and were discussing our disappointment in Days of Rainbow 2022. homophobes proceeded to brigade this channel, leading to an actual argument that led to this channel getting a 6 minute slowmo for several hours. again, the homophobes were never punished.
-
a couple users who used to frequent this channel had a history of ableism and transphobia. when called out and even us reporting them to the mods, the mods instead muted us because we were "too mean" but never the bigots in question.
so yes, we have reason to be suspicious of mods.
You want me to play you a lullaby or what?
🤦
Although there is the everlasting pain of “up to interpretation”, there are some things that we can assume TGC can not implement given the game’s 9+ rating
this is a bit different though and cant be compared 😭 they stated a theory, not said they defended it
if saying theories meant you defended it then half or more of the people here would be terrible people /nm
don't call me buddy, you're just a newcomer who decided to scold us for talking in a public forum
i apologize if i came off as too casual/familiar. also idk why i've still got the newcomer badge, i've been in the skycord for a little while now but mostly lurked
ah true.
That comment: "up to interpretation"
It has been a plaguing research for literally half of the things in canon lore.
It's like Pandora's box.
On the one hand, it makes canon lore and fanon lore seen as equals, which makes determining something to be canon much harder.
On the other hand, it opens the lore up to a multiverse of fanon ideas. And also empowering them by including them into the game more directly.
the newcomer badge lasts one week
gotcha, thanks!
The game's 9+ rating, according to the App Store, is due to:
“Infrequent Mild Cartoon or Fanatsy violence” (stuff like krill attacks)
And
“Infrequent Mild Horror and Fear themes” (The rest of the game’s dark themes, like creature extraction and dark settings like Eden and Wasteland).
This means that there is a clear list of things not allowed in the game:
18+ content
Gambling
Mild or Offensive Language
Frequent or Intense Violence
ey, you are ok

Lorechat should be a place where folks can talk about the lore.
I agree with what you said earlier. If things get too much on the public form, a person can take a break and come back at a later time.
~~with how often i krill myself i feel frequent and intense violence is par of the course
~~
9+ and people try and use it as a dating app 😔
Yes for some facebook communities, shipping couples by the hairstyle
yeah, that is not allowed.
humans are strange beasts
Some of them did something that is very inapporiate for kids in Wasteland social area
wasteland social area is,,,,something
I haven't been present for most of these events
I'd just like to chime in
if a user is being racist/ableist/crossing a line in some other way, the way to go should be to report them to #contact-the-mods
aside from policing individual behavior, a mod's job is to keep a generally amicable environment in their server
kicking off an argument or heated discussion in this channel will force mods to take immediate measures to calm the situation down, which might include muting the ones posting the most intesively in the current situation, so a) the chat has time to move on and b) they have time to investigate without 10 new discussions and arguments cropping up
and for the record, I support Vanya's decision to contact a mod because while I'm usually just a lurker in this chat, the tone in this chat turned aggressive to a degree I decided to mute the chat for a bit
This is equivalent to the ESRB E10+ or the PEGI 7 rating, which includes games such as Minecraft and Splatoon
now that we're back to good ol lorechat, my lore wish is that we get more insight into the elders' pasts and how they come in to play with whoever the shadowy ruler of the sky kingdom was, whether its the king/prince we see in the concept art or maybe a different direction entirely ^^
that one particular mural in the Vault has me fascinated with what they were like immediately before the collapse
what i think is rly interesting is how each elder has their own sort of like thing yk
i wonder if they came to the land knowing these skills or if they learned them here as the kingdom grew
ive been meaning to drop that the reason sah and mehk play a game with us when we visit them is because they know where we're headed next. the horrors of the golden wasteland, so they try to lighten the mood by playing keep away with us
and then with lamed, vault elder, they look so sad because they know next stop is eden, where it was the beginning of the end and they know what will happen to us
personal hc ofc
I don't why and I really hate those people saying "that's none of your business, why would you care them?"
i rly love this hc
mod involvement in the first, second, and fourth incidents happened hours after chat had moved and and behavior was reported in #contact-the-mods.
and again, just because people disagree with each other doesn't mean a discussion is an argument. telling people to stop talking just because you detect disagreement in unhelpful
Hi all, I know chat has mostly moved on but just catching up to make this clear: Discussing theories and different opinions is okay, but people are also allowed to ask others to stop or move on from a topic that might be uncomfortable or innapropriate. Sky has some dark themes, but they're all presented in age-appropriate ways with overall not a dark thematic and we expect discussion here to be held the same way. With that in mind, no, entertaining the topic of child murder or anything of the sort even as a theory will not be allowed and should be discouraged/reported to us.
Just remember to not take this to a personal level and escalate things, even if someone said something truly bad. Move on with conversation to better topics or if it's continued, please let us know so we can intervene— we do a lot more in private when it comes to moderation, even if this might not be immediately clear from an outside perspective.
this scary guy likes to chomp the light
thank you
it's been sitting in my brain and i needed to share
I still believe that “mouth” is a neck collar
you really hate mouth
or maybe theyre just marveling like “

they're holding one of these:
It’s still an iconic mural for good reason
a healthy snack
? why was i pinged here
i think i just tried to reply to ur last post but it didnt send properly 🤔
ohh maybe you were filtered :0 that happens sometimes
OH you know what it probably was. i tried to say the king was eating a mothb*ll but it got nuked lol
i just tabbed into the channel so not entirely clear on the lead-up but could you pin this? the topic of ancestors doing horrible things to skykids has come up more than once before and it'd be nice to have this easily accessible in the future
Sure, I'll just repost it with slight edits so it's better for a pin
thanks miri
HSKSJDJDKJDKD
lol I saw and rip.
It was funny though.
i've decided the king is blameless in the collapse actually. We've all done things we aren't proud of during a bad bout of the munchies 😔 /j
Reminder that discussing theories and different opinions is okay, but asking others to stop or move on from a topic that might be uncomfortable or innapropriate is also allowed. While Sky has some dark themes, they're all presented in age-appropriate ways with overall not a dark thematic and we expect discussion here to be held the same way. Entertaining topics of uncharacteristic violence or cruelty of any kind, or anything of the sort, will not be allowed— This should be discouraged and reported to us in #contact-the-mods (or by pinging the mod role in chat if necessary.)
We just ask that this is not taken to a personal level so the situation isn't escalated, even if someone said something truly bad. Move on with conversation to better topics, or if it's continued, please let us know as well so we can intervene.
ok i've finally compiled screenshots, thanks to days of nature pushing the sky wall at sanctuary backwards
diagram 1 is a collage of the large whale/manta thing at sanctuary island, the corrupt creature at the depths of treasure reef, and the two light murals at treasure reef. diagram 2 is image 117 from tom zhao's concept art for sky, showing rough concepts for light creatures
elder manta real, and corrupt elder manta real. that is all.
big boy creature

YO THATS SO COOL
i would also argue the nudibranch-like creature on the 5th level of the vault is a cosmic elder manta, too. but the presence of tiny ones around it puts a lot of holes in that theory
SANCTUARY WHALE ily
ive always wanted to know what the cosmic mantas were
whether they were real or projections or
and magpie you beat me to it but i was also thinking about the cosmic elder manta thing in vault
this first picture reminds me
the whales we see and the big whales in the shattering memory are … a lot different
do we have any idea why
simple: one is an elder manta, as i've labeled. the others are whales
I think the cosmic mantas are real in the sense that they can interact with the physical world, and the Remembrance item is a storage device
oh
i thought they were whales, is this confirmed or just a theory?
ive also been thinking about the skeleton in vault where you can call for a cosmic manta. the skeleton seems way too big/thick for the mantas, as most of them are flat. is it actually a manta skeleton, or something else? or maybe the manta was the bigger quadwing variant we see flying around the top of sanctuary and it takes a different form as a cosmic manta?
the whales are defined by their exterior skull plates, not size alone. also have a distinct call
sorry im a bit confused
do we actually see any whales alive then ?
yes, plenty of times. you see one when you leave the valley temple and go to the wasteland, another in the underground caves in the forest, and another on the way up to orbit. they're rare, not extinct
underground area in hidden forest, and when we're on our way to orbit (one smashes a building)
ah yea and when you're on your way to wasteland from valley temple
A fish call for a creature called "king fish", "Big Tuna" as a Joke, but the spirit for the call is Whale Whisperer.
so sanctuary creature is an elder manta, and the others we see elsewhere are whales? confirming my understanding
also worth noting: no yellow accents on whales
i get it now thanks guys !
do mono-wing mantas in-game have gray parts like that?
i also find this other piece of concept art from tom zhao interesting. obviously 1) the 'holy site' as defined in the light awaits is absent from sky and 2) no in-game evidence for the 'rebirth + evolution' pictured
BUT
i do think the bones = unnatural death is still relevant to the game
Not really, this was an early design of them.
It does look cool though.
Modern day mantas in the game have golden heads with a light on top.
mantas 💜
To my knowledge, no — the part that would be gray on them is replaced with yellow (which can either be interpreted as shiny like gold or just different colored skin). The stone face is a general theme you get with larger creatures only, like the whale & the sanctuary elder manta … thing. Also crabs for some reason but whether they count as having been originally a light creature is up for debate.
Generally, smaller light creatures will have yellow instead of stone
whale skeleton in broken bridge area of forest: died due to bodily dark plant growths
skeletons with dorsal spines in graveyard of wasteland: died due to? related to nearby dark dragons?
manta skeleton on 4th level of vault: died due to? enshrined by scholars as proper grave?
skeletons on 5th & 6th levels of vault: what creatures? older mantas? juvenile whales?
This is kinda pedantic but it could be argued that the whale in the broken bridge area died of something else and the dark plant just sprouted afterwards, which is what I assumed, but reading your interpretation I like it better considering we don’t see any visible signs of injury
i like those thoughts
since there's a lot of evidence toward light harvest and then light harnessing for energy in the game, i unfortunately hold the theory that the wasteland graveyard skeletons are those of whales that had too much light depleted and were thus corrupted by darkness, becoming the dark dragons
Maybe the broken bridge whale was sick with whatever gave its bones the dark plants ?
the water in the forest is polluted. we lose light by standing in the rain. whatever whales ate, it may have similarly contained environmental toxins
Like, it was sick, got too weak or was given a lethal blow and fell, crushing that building. Whatever was inside it may have fed on residual light and grown from its corpse
until we get more lore on dark dragons beyond THEY WERE OVER HERE and THEY WERE OVER THERE and THEY WERE AT THE BATTLEFIELD AND SMALL, it's hard to tell exactly how much 'life' darkness has or what its role is beyond corruption
There's the mantas we can save too, maybe that water is harmful because it's full of spores ? Spores can get activated under certain conditions, maybe they were flying around just fine until the growths hindered their flight, immobilizing them
well now i'm just thinking darkness plant cordyceps
@keen shore your time to shine on the manta soup theory
i mean, who's to say average-size mantas couldn't become small-scale krill if similarly depleted of light. it'd explain the small one spotted by the angler at treasure reef
Corruption implies warping entities from their original state, which can be an incredibly radical change
i dont ever want to imagine my sky pancakes becoming krill
Personally I think of Light and Darkness as forces, one unites and adds movement while the other separates and renders things static. This makes darkness the "antagonist" of sky because it incarnates something against what the game tries to make us feel, but in itself it's just like gravity or condensation, it's just a phenomenon.
One that I headcanon the ancestors may have inadvertently encouraged by trying to avoid change/death via the use of darkstone technology alongside their sedentarization
Here is a visual observation about skykids being present in ancestor's lives.
Since these are in memories, this suggest the ancestors have known skykids in life.
It is very interesting seeing this, which can be connected to other lore outside of season of Passage.
Season of Performance has stage play plot points that references stars falling and children arriving on the beach. As far as I understood things, it did not state skykids specifically, but children born of the Light.
And there is also the non-season spirit memory that is Ushering Stargazer, who witnesses a star falling and a child on the ground in their memory.
This is interesting to say the least.
idk that they're skykids, it might just be spirit kids in general...
i thought the passage spirits were ancestor children like how assembly are
Passage spirits and the others in they’d memories are ancestor children
i thought so too, but the thought of skykids playing with ancestor kids is really cute
and in ushering stargazer's memory, that fallen child has no mask or hair 👀
We know that mantas are social and more or less migratory, and krills circle the same area and tend to not really notice eachother. Perhaps being forced to not move coult be enough to count as corruption since it warps them from their natural state ?
Censored just in case for body horror & animal harm
||I don’t use it as a theory, but I have a headcanon that krills were created when the discarded corpses of mantas drained in refineries, then dumped in one location, fused and skeletonized into one massive creature. There’s no real evidence for this besides the concept being incredibly cool||
ASDKUASDHASD

I mean it could be supported with some of the official development art
given the latest mod message in the channel, i'm gonna give the devs the benefit of the doubt and assume this isn't the case. but definitely an intersting idea
Yeah! In terms of canon lore, I personally think krills are either whales or were always in that form, just corrupted now, but the krill amalgamation idea holds a special place in my heart.
And that’s totally fair, Magpie, I don’t blame you — it is a really dark and visceral idea to imagine on more than a surface level
piggybacking on the idea of a balance between light and dark, i think that the depletion of light from a light creature creates a vaccuum where light can either re-enter or darkness can infiltrate. without any room to work with, the darkness can't just corrupt creatures willy-nilly
Oh I am looking
but then there's crabs. crabs aren't creatures of light, but they're not really dark creatures either. they can certainly be affected by darkness (shedding dark ash and having an appetite for sky-kid headbonks) (dark shard hats)
what are crabs? what would a light-affected crab look like?
❓
does the presence of an exoskeleton make a creature unable to intake light? (ofc that's disproven by butterflies but still)
iirc in sanctuary we see passive crabs
I haven’t thought about it that way before, but it makes a lot of sense!
I like to see darkness as partially a metaphor for death; that means that ‘dark creatures’ would be similar to zombies, barely kept alive by the light within them — hence why I mentioned mantas ||dying and fusing|| as a concept earlier. I think it’s pretty similar to what you mentioned here
With that logic, is it possible that kids can become hostile if infected with darkness, or is it impossible because skykids are like, pure “shepherds” for the spirits or something?
we do ! and though we dont see any light crabs im pretty sure the crabs we see are called dark crabs formally
which has its implications at least
sure, if that idea from concept art were kept in the final product. but no, you just lose your cape
@frigid tinsel had ideas of corrupted skykids !
we def saw some non-darknessed crabs walking around during the aurora concert! they just look like normal crabs but without the darkness particles dripping off them (and they dont turn red and chase you 😂 )
Darkness is like a metaphor for disease, corruption, pollution, just… everything bad ig.
i suppose you could say the sky kids get hostile if no one will help them get to hard-to-reach lost memories (winged light)
We see light “light-affected” crabs in the Shattering memories
we see normal crabs in stacks and alone walking, yes. colored white and yellow and emitting light? no.
We kind of already see darkness “infect” the Skykid when we lose light.
We see blue dark crystals grow on our body, which makes sense because Skykids are non-biological
Maybe we don’t see light crabs anymore post-fall because darkness has become stronger? A lot of sky dark/light lore is more metaphorical than having any set rules and abilities.
yeah what IS with those blue crystals???
every time i visit them they try and run into me
the ones on the outer islands are passive. the rushing crabs on the main isle are hostile (look for ash falling off them)
look for them on the tiny islands, there's one with nice crabs near the nature guide right now :]
It’s also possible that once we save all the spirits, we stay in ||orbit|| forever. Like, what if the world wasn’t meant to be saved and we’re just here to rescue spirits and creatures of light left behind so they can join everybody else in the great beyond?
I think they’re very similar to how darkness affects light creatures
Darkness affecting biological creatures: spores/plants
Darkness affecting “mechanical” creatures: rocks/crystals
There’s certainly no dearth of headcanons about corrupted or dark skykids. I have one myself, as Vela mentioned. Darkness as a force seems to consume and hold onto light, so skykids who would be corrupted by darkness and not simply preyed on by darkness would take on darkness-adjacent traits — solitary, hostile to light creatures. Mine I give a “hunger” for a light and ability to taste it
i was at that little island tho, and those crabs are still mean. never used to be before, idk why they are now (for me, anyways)
uhhhh let me check rq for you then
Is that a recent development?
i remember someone else tested it, and they weren't hostile for them. they are for me, though. no clue why
i could try and get a clip to show?
😞 ig they have their favorites/j idk why thats happening
okay maybe the crystal growth on sky kids losing light can help explain darkness eruptions
because the eden diamond isn't losing mass every time a darkness shard falls on the kingdom, it stays the same size. and shared memories were indeed changed from candles to diamonds for "lore purposes" per patch notes, and we're gathering lost memories, and we hug a child when we lose all lost memories in eden--
does that mean the shards are the crystal growth from the kid in the eden diamond?
i'm going to go to sanc and clip it so i can prove im not insane
aw man, i gotta go :(
standing here now and they aren't attacking me,,,what the heck
it seems like they pick and choose when to be mean >:( earlier today they were running at me all angy
its always possible someone brought over um.,.,., normal crabs from the island to have a playdate with the peaceful crabs (so sorry abt that i think the peaceful crabs are a good example for my little stilton)
the crabs are trolling
Wouldn’t those crabs have darkness flakes then?
last time they did, but i dont think that someone would go through the trouble to ferry the hostile ones all the way to the island with the nice ones
woop glad you got that ! I went there to check in case they updated the area lol
They’re tags at the end of a message signally the tone they user intended since tone is difficult to convey over text
You are correct.
There is a small island where the crabs would not attack you.
Another place with crabs that dont attack you are the ones you save from the cooking pot in the Graveyard, Golden Wasteland.
The crabs that do attack you in the Sanctuary island would be the ones in the main island.
i do actually

YOU'RE THE REASON BEHIND THE MEAN CRABS ON THE NICE CRAB ISLAND /j
i just want my little meanies to have nice kids (crabs) to hang out with and be good influences
i'll def and try and see if i can eventually show what was happening, but so far it looks like the nice crabs are still hanging around
I think the kid in the eden diamond is the Void of Shattering, while shards are the memories of light creatures coated in darkness
ive seen theories on who that kid in the eden diamond is supposed to be
i personally like to think that once we die, our light gets taken by the diamond, and we "reunite" with it and become stronger than ever in order to escape it and ascend to orbit
I have a theory pertaining to the current season. (SN, thanks to all who answered my question about Ancestors using renewable resources. Didn’t mean to start an argument in a way..?
Anyway,)
I theorize that all Ancestors of a certain adolescent age had to undergo certain ‘rites of passages’ to receive their mask (made by Mask Maker). This would help the Ancestor children find their strengths and also acknowledge their weaknesses, teach them proper behavior, etc (much like the children in this season). This would be more cultural or traditional in the world of Sky, as well. Always accepting that I could be wrong and completely out of the ball park, but that’s my theory!
Yeah ! They seem to emphasize that these kids are unruly, perhaps they will be more mature towards the season's end to reflect their growth !
Absolutely! Their mask could represent their achievement or retainment of maturity.
it keeps sending me how it's like 'these UNRULY children are MISBEHAVING and are LATE for the lessons go do their job for them'
they're having problems relating to their peers, give them a break
could prob make due with some counseling
Random, but I visited Dreams and came up with a theory. Firstly, I’m guessing there must’ve been some sort celebration or festival a while before the Ancestor’s end (left over banners). Lastly, could it be that Ancestors took shelter in their homes during the final blast/disaster, explaining the stone slabs they have for doors? Or is that just what happens after centuries pass by?
I think tgc just wanted to not model the houses since they're not important which mood
we can enter some homes around the Village Theater, so I think it's implied that skykids could enter the buildings in-universe even if they aren't modelled in-game
i kinda wish we got to interact with ancestors that weren't killed off
to see how the survivors make do after the disasters
unfortunately, I doubt any ancestors survived to the current day. not only has it been a long time since the Eden calamity, conditions after were bleak.
yeah, but it would be fun/interesting to see what would happen if there were somehow some survivors
but that's what my own canon is for so i got that at least hgisdfs
yea, I find it would be an incredibly interesting concept for skykids to meet living ancestors. those ancestors would probably be the very few last remaining survivors of their species, descendants of whoever, by some miracle, didn't die in the ensuing apocalypse post-Eden calamity
i also hope that tgc gives us more interactions/lore/what have you with the elders, i want to be able to learn more about them or see how they acted during their daily life and how they interacted with ancestors in their realm,,,
it's something i put in wishlist already but
i wanna watch sah and mehk competing with ancestors in sports, or watching teth blacksmith stuff for their people, or tsadi defending their people during the war,,
Wait, there’s surviving Ancestors? I thought everyone, included those who survived the apocalypse died? Or am I comprehending this wrong 😭
lemme hug em then i will call it a 11/10 game
there isn't, i'm wishing there were
Honestly, I just can’t wait for the animation to come out. I feel like then we’ll know the entire story and get a peek into how spirits from various realms lived. I’m so hungry for it, man.

RIGHT AAHHH i was watching the animation trailer the other day and vibrating because i was SO EXCITED for when it finally comes out
I feel like it’ll be later this year. At least I hope it is. It’s only been seven months since the trailer was released, but it feels like longer. I hope it’s an entire movie 😭
i need it,,,it looks so good
ill wait for that day because i wanna see lorechat pop off
all eden would literally break loose in here 😭. unconfirmed theories confirmed, others dropped. my god
i want to hug the mantas in the trailer. they look so soft and feathery and i want to Hold them
i want more ouppy in the project pls
playing in high def mode makes things seem so real. i wish sky was a real place, but I would very much not like to feel the pain of being petrified
i thought this said eat/srs
WHERE DID YOU SEE EAT IN MY COMMENTASIHASDA
they're in a bowl I think
they may also be 'purifying' the crabs, for lack of a better word, since they're not hostile when you free them
astral i just wanna say i love your display name
need some butter w those crabs
Just boil those crabs in PepsiMax for 2 hours
p-pepsi-?
crab with pepsi marinate.
Now that is a crime against food.
hello. not only is this beta content, but this is also hacked content. things that were datamined tend to change. and these are considered as spoilers. please delete this.
ok thanks
literally what happened here
same tbh
its been a day today i think
hey i'd appreciate if you would refrain from pinging me, especially about a conversation from over 5 hours ago. thank you for understanding
come back to me, @cold sparrow
@whole quartz you said you'd help me in Eden, right?
OH GOD IT'S DOING THIS HERE

Hello lore chat! Could anyone shed some light on what mega bird is for me? I know it's from season of flight but that's about it
mega bird is a concept from the sky: light awaits, the original iteration of sky. it was cut from the final product, but traces of it remain in the form of 1) the mural in the moat surrounding the gateway to the secret place [1st floor of vault behind special cosmetic-locked constellation gate] and 2) a starry recreation that can be seen when you look up at the constellation table in orbit and when the credits finish zooming out after a complete eden run
you can find more information on what mega bird would have looked like and meant for the narrative of sky in tom zhao's concept art gallery. and i merely say this to avoid confusion: again, mega bird is not a bonafide entity in the current game.
https://www.tomzhao.com/sky1
as for a bird from the season of flight, you may have the mega bird concept may be confused with the light whisperer spirit. the spirit's promotional art does feature a large bird that is not seen in game. their personality traits also did not allude to the large bird
there was also a large bird in the art for the adventure pass for season of rhythm. i only started playing last spring, so i can't say if there was even an in-game model for the bird or if it only existed as artwork
This bird is called the "Elder bird" not "Mega bird".
Megabird is still in game. Through the form of this galaxy-like form found in the end credits when being rebirthed.
Ohhh, interesting, thank you for all the information :D I appreciate all the input :3
sorry for not knowing official names for things in seasons i missed out on due to... late arrival
. and i did mention the mega bird being in the credits.
it's raaaaining crabs
It is possible.
But the sinking of the ship is more likely to happen at a time when the spirits can no longer clean up the wreckage of the ship.
Some soldiers have factions but can't recognize them. In the season of remembrance, you can only see a circular shield.
In fact, we can only see the picture of the spirit holding a circular shield, but no spirit holding a pentagonal shield.
I think there are lights in nature that can be directly used by spirits. It's just that their output is random.
Starlight appears in many places. Including the light balls that circled in the sky in our mission, and the light balls that were captured and transported in the memory of the Lightseekers, and the moving starlight in Aurora season.
Spirits can turn starlight into magic to use.Another use is just my guess: its energy can only play a role when it is absorbed by the power diamond.
Sky kids will not be directly deprived of energy when they are near the power diamond, unless they put their candles in the power diamond.
So I doubt that power diamonds can directly absorb the light of creatures.Creatures can't take out their own fire.
But there are substances that can directly deprive energy. Red stone. It contains the souls of creatures(When you purify the dark fragments, their souls will appear. Such as manta, jellyfish and crab). And it can absorb starlight in the sky.Compared with collecting starlights and transporting them by ship, this method seems very convenient.
Perhaps it is possible that one of the functions of red stone is to absorb hard-to-obtain energy and transfer it to power diamond.
my skykid lore idea: just silly little babies, just a bunch of fellas (gender neutral), friend shaped :)
YES SO TRUE
those are my OCs in a nutshell if they didn't have any trauma :)
some wholesome lore in the server rn :)
controversial lore idea: some skykids are TOO silly ;3
Let them be silly they did nothing to you 💔
/light-hearted
🥺💛 they deserve to be silly!!
Hi!! Been lurking for a while and thought I might toss in a small theory:
Winged Light aren't just there for us to use to help the Fallen in Stormlock, but also to help us survive longer when we're in danger. Give us a buffer against harm, so to speak.
I've noticed that when our candle goes out, it doesn't instantly take us out, but instead we lose our Winged Light. Meanwhile in the Trials, without our Winged Light, it's instant death(and thankfully respawn at a lantern point).
Just a little thought I've been tossing around in my brain
And I do mean from a lore perspective instead of a game one. I know it's a pretty obvious game mechanic too but I do like to think that it has a lore reason as well, haha
fun fact about winged light.
They were called stars in the past. While the name has changed since then, the implication of them being connected to stars applies.
Personally, I take the mechanic of dying outside of Eden a situation that may not necessarily be canon.
As in, while the player can end up with the character dying. The death of the character may not be canon since the game implies the game gives players another chance to succeed. For the character, they did not fail, despite the failed attempts.
Therefore, skykids dying outside of eden is possible, though implied to be either unlikely or impossible.
This is just a headcanon, take this with a grain of salt.
So basically, sky kids are in a time loop! They just ||reborn|| every time they die.
It’s more a cycle of death and rebirth, as we keep everything but winged light when we go to Eden
I think the large diamond in that mural was made as a massive power diamond
In fact, the addition time of this mural is the Season of Shattering.
And its location is in the second stage of Eden.
I reserve my opinion. I still think what it refers to is the big red stone.
ahh late but yes! there was a model! vv from the season finale cutscene i recorded :]
i don’t recall if it had much relevance though, may have just been what the rhythm spirits use to travel around
I miss that bird. Even if I joined after the bird departed the game.
May I ask if the bird only made an appearance in the final quest cutscene?
Or has the elder bird made an appearance in other parts of the game?
as far as i can remember it’s only appeared in the cutscene and in the art for season of rhythm
Interesting.
Has the bird made an appearance in Orbit by any chance?
don’t think so !
I recall someone mentioning that the bird and the rhythm crew riding it were once seen flying in Orbit.
Then the creature never made a return since. 😭
me and my friend were discussing what is and isn't canon (for our sky AU) and this is probably a repeated question-
Is the King canon? or merely concept art some of the fandom ran with
They’re in a weird spot, the majority of what the fandom uses for the charater is from concept art and fannon wide theories. But there is a chance could’ve existed seen in the eden mural, and very possibly the prophecy murals as both have the same halo like thing behind their head. But that’s pretty much it, it’s like , they do seem to be in the game but also are super vague imo
is there any specific place i can read up on the lore of this game
This is an incredibly debated topic, with no clear answer. Some point to the lack of direct naming of the King in game, while others talk about developer statements
@potent dew https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
wow okay getting called out in the first sentence
[takes notes] thank you!
widely debated topics are my jam honestly, gonna take a look ehehe
you are welcome to ask. You are ok.
The King in the canon of Sky is as follows:
Concept art and Light Awaits lore shows the King being present.
However, since the global release, the King "cannot be saved" according to the devs.
This means while the King themselves are not in Sky, evidence of them can still be found in the Kingdom.
Furthermore, the devs also suggested that the King may be present in Sky in some other form. What the would be is uncertain as far the canon is concerned. It is therefore up to speculation.
The evidence we do have of the King in Sky is as follows:
The water mural hidden in the Vault's ground floor (it surrounds the portal to the Office)
A mural in Eden that shows the King with a massive diamond.
The mural that can be seen in the all elders cutscene at the end of Vault.
And last, but not least deducing (coming to the conclusion) that Eden is the only realm without an Edler, and also the realm that is referenced to be ruled by the King (Resh) in concept art.
Hope this helps.
sorry for the ping
are there more documents about the lore? totally not hyperfixating rn
The other funny topic is if the characters in Sky have mouths or not
mouths eh?
the closest I can think of is the core from which skykids take their candle out of
There are some videos, although they’re far more theory-related.
Would you like something more specific?
There is, several fantastic theorists have written about the lore in Sky.
Some of it can be seen linked in the pinned messages. While others may be posted here upon request (this depends of who you ask, I suggest finding out who has with checking in the channel).
not really lol, like i said im a lore moth
just interested in the story of the game so i can write my ocs to be a little more specific
Iirc, the King at one point(at least the corrupted version) was supposed to be in-game according to some concept art for Eden, but that's no longer a thing
ok question lol- i never played season of shattering but is it the story of the elders going to eden? if not, why is the last memory dubbed "Elder Memory"?
agreed.
I speculate based on concept art that the King could have been something like a boss.
However, instead of fighting, we were supposed to survive until you reach the King to save them.
As far as I can gather from old gameplay footage, Eden was the last realm in development and parts of it were either unfinished or were not found until the global release came out. (Note: most of the realm was done, but key pieces were seemingly changed or missing leading up to the global release.)
iirc its more along the lines of the elders somewhat realized that the diamond was going to go boom boom so they tried to fix it, but they were too late i dont actually remember its been awhile lol
raider might have a more detailed answer
That is an interesting nod to the old OOB area of Eden dubbed Blue Eden.
This implied when the crystal exploded, the elders were present.
I've always wondered about that, honestly
Blue Eden
Credit to Mirriam
ive actually never seen that clip, that’s really cool
Notice, all but one elder was present in the Blue Eden.
This is supposedly due to the Forest elder's model not yet fully implemented.
This is also why the elders in the Shattering memory are the same models as in Blue Eden, while the Forest elder's model appears more polished (because it is a newer model)
i see thank you!
in that case, is there a place i can find a proper storyline for season of shattering or is it just "haha silly" bc i heard people saying it was a very serious season
You can look on the wiki for it, but I would suggest when playing the game, waiting for an easy Red Shard day
i could try and find links when all the quests drop, but im afraid it wouldnt be that coherent
i remember when the last quest dropped and myst drew an amongus on my photo of prairie elder
It was certainly a unique season and one that interesting lore details.
That and it also ties into the story line from season of Aurora, albeit told from the a different perspective.
You can go through the memories one after the other if you haven't already played through the season that way
HELP
NOT THE FLASHBACKS 💀
i see i see, is season of aurora a more positive outlook from a skykids perspective? /gen
sorry if the questions im asking are dumb
im just trying to figure out how everything fits together
Each memory in Shattering is paired with a poem. Here are all of them: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
If you want a more in-depth look, there’s: #promote-your-sky-content message
(This slowmode is killing me)
Agreed.
The red shards will unlock memories you can relive.
Take care when you do this with friends, they may see a different memory than yours if you have not completed its quests.
Meaning, those who completed the season would see random memories the game chooses to use for all players. Those who are doing the quests though would see the memories in a certain order. Once you completed them, you will see the selected memory like other players.
ProTip: if you are looking for heart trades, the guide is hidden these memories, and would reward players with hearts (that each one costs 3 candles 💀)
as of yesterdays red shard i finished the memories (however i joined after the actual season)
im just super dumb with lore if its not explicitly spelled out for me in game
You could say so. Usually, the seasons in Sky alternate between a “lighter”, less heavy season, and a “darker”, more emotional season.
The light Flight is followed by the dark Abyss, the light Performance, the dark Shattering, the light Aurora, the dark Remembrance, and the light Passage.
Keep in mind I’m using these words light and dark very loosely
You are ok

The most streamlined story for Shattering is that there was a massive diamond at the Eye of Eden that was meant to help the Sky world by storing light and memories, but it was made using light creatures. Also, it “shattered”, causing shards to appear nowadays. The Ancient Memories show the final scenes of the light creatures and others near the Eden Diamond
hmmm i see-- so eden was at one point a sort of haven for skykids and (if im reading the "king" messages from earlier correctly) a "crown jewel" kingdom kind of realm? like the main city of the worlds?
i have an analogy that i think is helping but its from my homebrew dnd world 😭
The destruction of the great red stone is undoubtedly a great event in the kingdom of the sky. It caused the sky kingdom to be invaded by dark debris and formed the eye of the storm.
But we can't be sure whether this disaster led to the destruction of the kingdom. The time when it happened is not clear in the game content. (without considering the previous draft design. )
The last scene in ancient memories is very likely to be true. But other images are more like an abstract concept than a concrete event record.
They are more like expressing a relationship. It makes us look directly at the concepts of light and darkness.
the memories do somewhat corroborate with sneezing geographer's memory showing light creatures travelling towards the light on the top of the mountain (where the diamond is)
hmm i c i c, thank you guys! im also curious: did the krills also come from the shattering of the great red stone? is that all there is to them? why do they seem like security cameras with built in destruction features?
Honestly I'm not entirely sure. It's implied by Season of Abyss(from what I can tell) that Krill could be natural creatures, but at the same time they do have a very off-putting mechanical sound when they move. They could be artificial, ancestor-made things for the purpose of guarding important places, but I'm not too sure about that.
There is a theory that suggest that they were caught in the blast and became corrupted.
Them being corrupted is canon, as confirmed by Jenova Chen.
The rest is open to interpretation.
it almost makes me wonder if Tsadi made them, as they only appear in the GW and Eden
Their origins are not mentioned in the game. (without considering the old draft design)
Darkness is natural. At least the blue darkness is.
The red darkness is something made by the spirit. But darkness itself is an ancient concept. It's not just the pollution caused by power diamonds.
ooh i see my interpretation is going wild rn
well that should be all the questions i have for now
i might be back in like 2 minutes with some more obscure questions
thanks for humoring me yall
waitwaitwait "the spirit"?? im missing something
I do think that the Krill could have been your average creature of Sky at one point(maybe even indifferent, at one point? Who knows), but were corrupted to the point where they now are in constant search-and-destroy mode when it comes to Light creatures
The Ancestors, the spirits we relive in-game
i almost wonder if they were originally made to protect light creatures
and then got corrupted by the shattering of the great red stone (i only say this because of the red light when they spot a light creature)
Light and darkness existed before the spirit appeared.
If you can notice those blue things. Most of them are closely related to darkness.
The two concepts are more like the relationship of unity of opposites.
Hi! I just wanted to pop my head in briefly and say that I haven’t heard the idea of the Eden Diamond being used to capture energy more efficiently before, and it’s really interesting. I could also see it being proposed as a less cruel method of harvesting light; where light prior would have to be drained from light creatures such as mantas, possibly leading to corrupted creatures, this light can be taken from the environment without having to kill for it. Eden, with the massive beam rising from it, would have the most ambient light of any place in the kingdom.
Unfortunately, following this line of thought, either something broke or didn’t go as planned, and the diamond began to absorb all the light around it — hence why Eden is so dark, and every creature that comes near disappears like the flame of a burning-out candle…
It would make a lot of sense.
[Side note — I remember that the mural you referenced is one that appears only when the candles underneath are lit; the light around the diamond is animated to appear in a specific way that implies either the diamond is giving off light or absorbing it. I vaguely remember it being first, but unfortunately I can’t remember for sure. I’ll respond to this message when I can confirm which one it is later, as it can have a lot of influence on this theory.]
I can definitely see this! Like the kingdom not wanting to use and harvest creatures for their light, but they had too because it was the only efficient way they knew to make power diamonds. So the concept of the eden diamond absorbing light as an alternative to using mantas for example would’ve been acted upon, but yeah then explosion happened
who are these two taking her away?
For me personally it’s soldiers on the opossing side of the war
We don’t know for sure. Many bald ‘default’ models like this one are used as stand-ins for unnamed ancestors in spirit memories; you can see them quite a bit in base-game memories. The only identifying features of these people we can spot is that they were soldiers.
that scene hurts me sm
Yaya that too
I like to think it was the opossing side as to me it just wouldn’t make sence if wasteland soldiers arrested their own people, especially for a trivial thing as playing with their child
my dude got hurt tooo!! SHE DED
wait, did a war break out as well? i saw something like that during the aurora concert (i think it was in there?) but i just kinda set it aside in my brain since it was late when i saw the concert
But yeah just thinking of this idea it could also be why the diamond cracked in the first place, they saw the opertunity to stop using mantas, yet they could’ve rushed it. Hence how it could’ve gotten out of control
Yeah wasteland and aurora concert makes it clear a war happened in wasteland which utterly destroyed it, probably why it’s even called wasteland in the first place
According to the shield, we can divide the soldiers into two groups.
The wounded soldier (I'm not sure that's the name. I used a translator. )His comrades-in-arms are holding round shields. This shows that their opposites are pentagonal shields.
Wounded soldier can receive flowers from civilians. Their enemies attacked regardless of the safety of civilians.
I think that game company has different attitudes towards these two factions. Even those soldiers who are not good to civilians have no shields, we can guess the faction they belong to through their relationship with civilians.
is it also related to forgotten ark??
are there theories about who fought against who/why it happened?
those damages structures in forgotten ark seems like they got into a fight or getting into a heavy storm
ancestors vs another group ancestors
ancestors vs light creatures
ancestors vs ancestors and light creatures
one of these
Definitely agree with this! It could have been a way to power things better without taking too much from the ecosystem of Sky, but unfortunately something happened and now it just uncontrollably sucks all of the Light away from its surroundings. Potentially that could be what happened to the Fallen in Eden?
I agree. Teabrewer’s memory also seems to depict a village under siege by the opposing side; if pleading child’s village was under siege in a similar fashion by the army these soldiers were from it would explain why they got arrested over something so trivial
I personally like to think it was Valley vs Wasteland. Valley practically runs on darkstone, like everywhere you look darkstone is used (teh things we light for doors) And wasteland has shown with abyss to have factories, so in a nutshell I like to think: workers got tired of the conditions and polluting their realm for making them, and not wanting to make them anymore, which made valley really not like that
You also have the cyclone in wasteland! Valley elders in prophecy mural are shown being gifted the cyan/wind light, which would explain how that cyclone is even there
This is very quick rundown but yeah
i like the fact that in concepts wasteland is the lower class settlements while valley is the upper class
wasteland and valley was one called the golden valley
Like for me this makes both realms have their reasons.
Wasteland doesn’t want to make somthing that destroys their realm for somthing they can’t even keep
Valley needs darkstone to even function because if there’s none, then they can’t really expand. It’s like taking cars away from a city built around cars
Yaya that too! Like if valley wasn’t settled in mountains I feel like they would’ve made their own factories, but wasteland has a ton of flat ground which would be perfect for a place for a factory
so valley is pro darkstone and wasteland is anti darkstone
yeah i get it- it makes me wonder if its called "golden" wasteland because the valley may have named it after it's plentiful darkstone resources maybe? its definitely not "golden" because its pretty or has a golden atmosphere
then again maybe im reading too much into it
any desert with sunlight (or light for that matter) will seem gold, so maybe it was named "golden desert" or something along those lines before the war/pollution
I typed a paragraph here, hoping it will help.
you know this makes sense considering the "wasteland elder defected" theory
For me personally yes!
But I also don’t see the valley elders being “we hate the environment and don’t care about the complaints” more of they know the pro’s and con’s they know the issues, but they put their people’s well-being first, and having a steady trail of darkstone to improve a ancestors quality of life was important above anything else imo.
The war could’ve started as the desperation to seize control and get darkstone production going
the what theory
wasteland elder is my favorite lol im curious now
In that instance, potentially the storm above Wasteland was made in retaliation against them? But also ended up screwing them over too since the Factories were down there and cutting off an entire realm is. A pretty big deal
valley elder apologist /joke
Yayay! I like to think krill (however they came to be) were Traveling to the other realms, so to save the other realms it could’ve been sealed for that reason. That’s more of a hc for me tho
the theory that wasteland elder defected to the group that is against the king
in the wasteland constellation its depicted as a pentagon shield with the spear
but in their cutscene and their elder shrine they have an octagonal/circular shield
Never heard of that one, it’s a interesting take but with how i see the events playing out, I can’t really see that. Still intersting nonetheless
Maybe that could be why the Windpaths were unavailable for such a long time? The Krill could have been getting to other realms through them and as a result they were closed off for the safety of all the realms, but they also all suffered as a result since it seems like it was a main port of transporting goods throughout the kingdom
Yaya that also works! Even in one of the quests we see a krill light from the ark windpath
ngl it could fit yours
(additional detail in the vault projection the wasteland elder wields a pentgon shield)
wasteland rebels and attacks valley
wasteland elder leads the rebel cause and switches shields
Unfortunately, the murals of pentagonal shields are more like abandoned settings. The valley elders in this animation are not what they are now. It looks more like tgc forgot to replace it.
Maybe yeah! I see valley being the one to attack wasteland though
or that XD
im more inclined to the theory that darkstone faction (pentagon) vs the sunburst faction (circular) allied with light creatures in this war
hm? now that you mention it there hasnt been murals/spirit memories with pentagon shields?
wait in the aurora concert there were no pentagon shiel
ds?
(Beaned) I want to see that but I can only imagine a wasteland soldier pointing at The Valley soldiers and telling a manta to head-but them
Hard to say, I do have the wings so I could check it out if I have time
The dispute between the round shield and the pentagonal shield doesn't look like a simple opposition to the Power diamond.😫
Spirits use power diamonds more or less. Even the spirits who love creatures, they also use power diamonds.
i hope we get to see some of the war in action in the animation
what i wouldn't do to see sah and mehk animated,,,
dreadful manta attack
I mean, theGolden wasteland elder holding a pentagonal shield

Yaya like darkstone is a tool important to all ancestors, I feel like the more it settled the more it just became apart of the kingdom. Kind of like technology, if you try to fight aginst using it it’ll just move on without you

finally found good people
As far as I can tell, the dispute over darkstone isn’t so much the material itself as what kind of light is used to charge it.
Yaya I agree! Like they’re using mantas and caging them for their light, that’s how I always saw it
There are notable problems with darkstone mining, as we can tell from tearful light miner’s memory, but it’s so integrated into the kingdom’s technology as a whole that they might not have been able to find a way around it
This could explain why the Isle Elder's realm is so small. It wasn't able to expand any more because they could have refused to use darkstone for the most part after seeing what it was doing to the Light creatures. Not only that, but iirc the Isle only has maybe two bits of darkstone mechanics in it(not including the Prophecy cave)
Plus we also don't see the Isle Elder on the door to Eden, implying they were left out in some shape or form
Yea :(
Plus forest in general show clear signs of erosion from the bare tree roots and amount of water, could explain why we see two mining accidents of rock falls happening as the soil was loose and unstable
salem when tearful light miner
So do you want to consider the power crystal of starlight?
I’ll personally stick to manta light based on what I’ve seen
what if the sky turned dark (iirc mentioned in isle starting cutscene) because of the eden diamond sucking thelight out of it.. just a random thought XD
Doesn’t exactly say the diamond was the reason for the sky turning dark just that “…the sky went dark, and the kingdom shattered”, I personally like to think it was yet it’s not exactly clear
maybe thats why it shattered because of the eden diamond
eden diamond looked like it was sucking light in the murals right?
Not sure exactly, I think the light is actual coming out from what I’ve seen in eden
Let me continue to sell my theory. Absorbing the power of starlight, diamonds can be accepted by the spirit of loving creatures.
The pattern on the pentagonal shield refers to more than just the power crystal.
The energy of manta rays, jellyfish and other creatures can't be directly absorbed by ordinary power diamonds, so the spirit throws them to the big red stone.Their energy is then transferred to power diamonds. Their souls were left inside the red stone.
————————————
The world has normal day and night alternation. In fact, we have seen the forest in the dark in the concert of Aurora season. Some spirits' introduction texts also mention night, such as the guide of the abyss season.
However, the annular eclipse in the game may be affected by darkness.
It’s cool how much thought you’ve put into this theory but it’s just personally just not for me, it’s still intersting to think about though. I just can’t see starlight being used for power diamonds but again, that’s just how I see it.
I think the creatures which want to reincarnate back to the Light in Orbit were trapped in the Eden diamond, the diamond cannot choose
Starlight is transported to the rainforest in large quantities, but it takes time to catch them, and it takes power diamonds to drive ships to transport them. This has to be a meaningful event.
So I think the appearance of the great red stone is a sign that the world is getting worse, and it is not made to protect living things. .
You do you, just I personally see creature light like from mantas being used.
It's really possible.
But there are crabs in it.They don't seem to migrate.
Just wanted to share this timeline here, apologies for the blurry image!
man the Isle cutscene(and its lore implications) is something I really wanna talk about but I gotta get my thoughts wrangled first lmao

BRING BACK THE CITY CONCEPT TGC
i really hope they make a new city-like area in a future season at least!
A CITY SEASON PLEASE
season of fantasy connected to the lore where kids have dreams of smth like this and we get to fly in their dreams and that dream becomes a reality with a new area we get to explore
please tell me what channel any of this goes into cuz this is tom zhao concept art
Tomcepts (as what Miriam and Reika used to calll them, lol) can be posted here.
I'm very glad to see new lore enthusiasts learn about the old lore.
Speaking of which, a word from experience.
While the concept art are very insightful and valuable to the old lore (from the Light Awaits). Not all of it may apply to the current lore (Sky: Children of the Light).
Know that even though some parts may have changed, the core and theme of the game has remained unchanged (as how I understood it).
And there has been other fantastical artists who made concept art for the game. Including that of seasons. 🙂
Also, about the seasons.
TGC, where are the concept art for season of Shattering? It has been months and either you guys are more tight lipped on the lore in there than the pentagon on Area 51 (/hj). Or I am stupid and missed the drop the lorechat probably found.
WHAT HAPPEENED TO THE EDEN ELDER AND THE KINGDOM
They went ka-boom /j 🍄 💣
In the old lore (Light Awaits), they were supposedly planed to be at the top of eden (more or less where the Eden Crystal is in Eye of Eden).
In the Current lore (Children of the Light), we dont know where they are or what happened specifically. Although there are theories and speculations on it from several people on here.
What we do know is that the King is gone, but not completely forgotten as it seems with the murals.
blowed up <3 💥
Since the Eden Elder is an ambiguous character it’s more speculative; but I personally believe they died with their realm in the Eden blast depicted in the quest of Shattering, atop the diamond is a symbol often associated with them, so I personally theorize its meant to represent them and the vagueness/brokenness being an indicator of how they’re no longer around in their current state like the other elders^^
The realms/kingdom likely ended at that moment, especially since the elders also went with it, with little or no survivors depending on peoples personal timelines/take
Oooo! istg they better make a season just for the eden elder
no no just like a season that tells us all about them and the old kingdom- does shattering say that? i never did shattering i hated shattering
the shattering last quest might have some clue, ie the star above the diamond
alr
Heres a good picture of the last memory
oh wow
hmm what exactly is the guide from shattering supposed to be? is it supposed to represent the red stone kablooey? if so why?
i might do shattering..
I think the souls inside the diamond merged into the Void of Shattering
also does anyone have any resources or description of the aurora and shattering story?
in the concert, the Seed ones, some blue thingy fell from the sky, I think they are the shards
huh ic ic
ngl i wasn't very attentive to the lore before but i read theough that entire timeline and fooping curious now
I used to think the same as you
i love shattering forever and forever <3 i remembered the opening poem and just AAAGHGG
same ncdjjvjfnjgvnfkcjfkckckl (calm down bro
that reminds me i should probably slot it in somewhere in my pins cus i think it’s important

“The wounds of the past are never far from sight.
The light around us is in constant motion. Who could not see it? Who could not feel the joy of its movement?
Once, we guided the migrating flocks. Once, behemoths flew alongside us in peace. And then we took the light from the wind. The behemoths that remained were only the monuments to ourselves. Our cities shone with a captive glow. We were enraptured as we taught our machines to bind and hoard.
The world of the present can be healed, but our past cannot be undone. Jagged remnants lie in our wake, and even for the mountain it is too much to hold.”
IT makes me feel so normal
That is an interesting theory.
1 - The realm is the only one without any ancestors spirits and yet we apparently have at least 4 season spirits (butterfly, jellyfish, dark plant and krill). 2 are of the Light and the other 2 are of Darkness.
2 - Had the crystals contained the memories within, it would make sense that these shards would have pieces of a memory.
3 - Suppose they were pieces of a singular entity, this would imply these shards belonged to the Eye of Eden Crystal.
Just to add this wild headcanon at the end. I like to think of that Crystal possibly containing the soul of the King. Which could explain why the shards show memories of different creature migrating, and the elders. Had this be a spirit that resided in Eden, this being would have been able to meet all 6 elders, as well as the Eden shattering.
If not the King, then the Sky Prince (who in turn could be related to the Chosen One theory from season of Prophecy in the lorechat).
My headcanon (in my fanfic) is the Void of Shattering is neither King Resh nor Prince Alef since they ||caused King Resh's eternal death before they could absorb King Resh's soul||
I really like this lore
The Void of Shattering theory
This whole thing rests on the premise that the King fell into the Eden diamond. I can see it quite clear in the sixth memory: the star king symbol seemingly descending into it.
I believe that the Eden diamond didn't have any real personality or sentience beforehand, it was just a tool. But when the King fell into it, it fused into something weird: the Shattering Guide.
The Shattering Guide is the personified form of the Eden Diamond (it has little relation to the King). The evidence here is that they both have a similar shape: a cracked diamond with another tiny diamond in the middle.
The Dark Home where we buy this season's cosmetics, and I think it's inside the Void of Shattering. After all, the void effect is similar to the time we got swallowed by the leviathan. In general, I think if we're in an overwhelming force of darkness, we go to the void area.
TLDR: The King/Eden Elder’s body fell into the Void of Shattering, and so it turned into a fusion of the Eden Diamond and the King
It’s worth nothing that Skykids probably didn’t occupy Eden when it was thriving, so it was probably living Spirits
Yeah, the existence of a war has been implied ever since the beginning of the game. Notably, there are two types of shields scattered around Wasteland:
A kite shaped shield with a. Diamond symbol
And an octagon shield with a circular symbol
We see these two sides fighting, but for what reason we’re not sure. We know the Wasteland Elder allied with the circular shield
Here’s an image of the Broken Temple in Wasteland from the Sky Animation Teaser, for reference. Wasteland probably looked like this
With your definition of good, all of us would be considered horrible
They fell into the big diamond and exploded, causing big death
There, as concise as humanly possible
If you want more of stuff like this, I have a massive video that covers basically everything regarding the Season of Shattering: https://youtu.be/azczOulpIbk
returns to the sky server
So skykids have gotta be pretty lightweight in order to fly, right? Or am I missing something?
Hi, Anon! Wb
That's kinda what I thought, too. A lot of spirits have capes, but as far as I can tell, they can't fly with them cuz the might be too heavy. Like Flight spirits, for example: they're shown to not be able to access other islands without the boat and manta, even the two with capes (Navigator and Light Whisperer)
It’s probably Winged Light that gives us our flying abilities. After all, it’s the only reason we can fly in the first place.
Huh
Follow up question: how much would a skykid weigh?
not this question again
id say they weigh pretty..... light
ba dum tsssss
Seinfield theme plays
you werent, but legend has it that lorechat spent like 2 days trying to figure it out
Dang
just refer to my answer 😌 /j
Did they reach a consensus?
what weights more, a kilogram of feathers or a kilogram of skykid /ref
Feathers.
Because the guilt of plucking all those birds weigh a ton.
counterpoint: i feel no remorse for those birds
OH GOD TIME FOR THE MATH VORTEXX
(For context: someone here asked how much the Wasteland Elder weighed, and it spiraled into trying to find out the entire gravity of the Sky world and the falling speed of a crab)
It was almost a year ago, and after a crazy delusional stunt calculated it at around 15-30 kilograms
For the elder or the skykid?
skykids
Is the 3rd eye on moth mask supposed to mean something? Is it even an eye or just a light
Considering that it doesn't blink, no, I can safely say it's not an actual eye. It's most likely a type style for the forehead diamond, since on other masks it's painted on
Where do Ancestors get their materials from?
Either as blessing from the elders (magic), or from materials they find in the realms themselves (ex. dark stone)
Other materials such as cloth would be from plants we habe not yet seen (or recognised) in the game. Or from creatures we have yet to see in the game.
As a random example, having fur clothing implies a furry beast. Be it a sheep, a wolf, a bear or even a deer.
In some religions, a third eye could be a reference to one's ability to see spirits (or demons, angels etc.).
However, one should take care and approach the idea respectfully.
For the most part, conversations that involve religion or controversial historic events (ex. real life war) may be best held in other servers, or groups. More so among people who would be willing to discuss it with an open mind (bonus points if they are also objective on the matter. Meaning they would put aside biases).
This is speaking from experience on the lore chat.
One would have to lucky to have a conversation on here without it slipping into an argument or being buried in other conversations.
Hi Dark
personally i just think it's a funny little light (possibly just there to make the base mask a tiny bit more interesting) but it's definitely worth researching into if you think it might mean something
even if that connection wasn't intended, i do like the idea that it could be a "third eye" of sorts, especially with a third eye being related to clairvoyance, which is basically being able to see things that happened in the past (sky kids do this quite often, most obvious example being spirit memories)
as for the other masks that have it painted on,, i don't really know what that could mean
meant to reply to this
Lorechat has had many respectful conversations involving religion and war. It’d be doing the game a disservice to not discuss them when relevant since the game often utilizes them. Remembrance spirits are refugees from war and season of Aurora showed said war. The glowing diamond on masks is reminiscent of a third eye. It is not controversial to make said comparisons
I think it’s just a light
Agreed some were respectful but it still might be best to leave religion mostly out of the conversations since sky is not a human thing and our religions may not be similar to theirs if they have any.
I do like the idea of clairvoyance and things of that nature. It seems to make more sense given the lore so far.
Does anyone happen to have a take or understanding on why there are no visible chest lights shown on Aurora's Runaway, The Seed, and Cure For Me outfits?
Skykids by design have a light on their chests.
Unless the clothing is somehow thick enough to cover it, it would shine through.
assuming you mean in-game and on the sky kids, it may be a bug that the core doesn't show up but those are some pretty specific outfits for it to happen on
Going out on a limb here but could the diamond be literally a part of or made from the ancestors formed light?
To add to this what if the ancestors made our skykids from their formed light?
Ancestors making skykids...
That would be a cool theory. Getting Astro boy and Pinocchio vibes.
It would make for a cool fanon origin story.
In the game, we know skykids can be seen falling from the sky, like a falling star.
Which makes their origin all the more mysterious. Especially when looking at their first arrival.
You assume correctly concerning I mean in-game. I am not inclined to think it is a bug as they are indeed, very specific outfits... The "Cure For Me" outfit does appear to have a thicker bust so it could very well cover it but I cannot shake the feeling it is for another reason. In the lyrics to CFM she mentions "the moving heart I got" so this could very well mean that it is meant to be hidden beneath...
True true
maybe they were created in ||Eden|| and fell the sign of first birth/rebirth?
Does that mean megabird created the ancestors as well possibly?
Damn. No wonder it was such a massive explosion /j XD
Eden is the only place in the game we have seen statues that represent skykids. Much like the ones we would find after reliving an ancestor's memory. Albeit in much different circumstances.
To an extend, it is still used.
The issue is that the concept art is old, and coupled with the canon lore being open to interpretation.
There are a lot of directions a given theory can go in.
There are hints that suggests Megabird made/created skykids. So it is also a possible theory.
Assumingly so.
Since the Megabird (also known as the Bird of Light) is a being made of light and giver of life (headcanon statement).
Perhaps the bird theme carries over to the stork idea as well? /hj
Where do the winged lights come from?
In my headcannon, when the King falls, he explodes into small bits of light, the last drops of pure light before corruption consumes him completely. These drops of light are scattered accross the kingdom and are known as winged lights

2 ways in the game to get winged light.
1 - From Winged light/Children of Light/Stars scattered throughout the realms (The largest concentration of them in one are is the Point of No Return tunnel. With 8 of them inside and 1 standing just outside the tunnel).
2 - From Ascended Ancestor Spirits.
Once ascended, they give you some light to strengthen skykids in their next lives.
There is technically a third way, however this is grouped with the second option.
Where you return from Eden, you are given 1 Winged light each time. Regardless if you have gotten any from Ascended Ancestor Spirits in Orbit.
I like that theory!
ooh.
That is an interesting idea.
This has been brought up in the past in the lorechat.
As far as I recall though, there were still many speculations and theories.
It is still a compelling idea.
Us skykids are basically slowly becoming the King

I already am a king or atleast one of my OCs are XD The Krab King🦀👑
hmm....
This is a speculative theory.
And as far as I am concerned is strictly hypothetical for a reason that will be given at the end.
There was a feature in Light Awaits, where skykids who apparently completed all constellations of all 6 elders, were possibly given a special item that is the King's Crown.
This unique halo of light could have been seen as the ultimate reward (headcanon).
However, due to players breaking the game and cheating. The crown was spoiled and thus removed. (as far as I understood it).
Regarding the theory you have though. Skykids becoming more and more powerful. Powerful enough to have the blessing of the elders to enter eden would certainly seem like it.
In an old concept art for Eden. There was once an idea that the skykids would try to save the King, and the Prince saves the skykids in turn.
This concept in the game was later on scrapped as we do not have the King in the game. But instead a massive crystal in their place.
All hail King Karkinos .
Maybe the crystal IS the King?
I have a question, how does the Eden and Rebirth thing work into the lore? Like we die and we get reborn again
May i see this concept art of the prince and skids saving each other?
You basically said it. Although our physical light dies, our soul/body stays the same as we descend back to the Sky world
Even if religions in the Sky universe may be different, there are still many ways in which religious themes and motifs make it into the game.
For example, the Eden cycle of rebirth is reminiscent of Buddhist and Hindu theories about rebirth and reincarnation.
breaks in
Headcanon that therapy for Skykids consists of them rolling sillily across the sky
Send in the emotional support plushies

from this format it looks like the skykid on the left is getting another crab and the skykid on the right is trying to dodge an incoming manta meteor
You are ok.
It may be a design thing.
The theme of Valley is Twins.
Two communities in the realm (high and low, rich and humble, fly and slide), two sets of spirits (champions, the guides of performance and rhythm), two elders, etc.
Other twin examples,
two races, red and blue, and two concert events (dreams skating concert and aurora concert)
Oh
And the tomb that is split in half :)
im not sure why “fly and slide” is so funny to me but it is
It is likely a bug but it does show up in certain positions
does anyone have any recs for lore/theory videos talking primarily about the golden wasteland?
am fixated on it hard but and i want to eat all knowledge
There are some of how it used to be during Light Awaits.
Generally the place was a little bit bigger, and the krill had red lights instead of blue.
Those are mostly gameplay videos though.
i wear the aurora spirit outfit all the time and it’s pretty much always visible unless covered by a cape or in certain lighting. it’s a bright white outfit so it kinda blends in sometimes
Then it is certainly a bug.
The light may likely be clipping into the chest and thus hide the light.
This can be seen with certain emotes that causes the light to briefly clip into the chest.
I just realized there's a place I've never seen anybody talk about lore wise.
What the heck is home space.
a convenience
Depending on who you ask, it is a place that is seen as the level hub. Since it is somewhat like a level select, it leaves the area at the border or canon lore and game mechanics.
Others see it as a small island far away from the Kingdoms. Making it canon, but not much happens.
That is what I recall of the island itself.
There are a few theories that involve the portals, the gate, and the events.
A good example is the Fortune dragon, granny's igloo, blossom and so on.
Not to mention how the island slolwy changes and "grows" with skykids over time.
TLDR There are not a lot of theories (that I recall) of home.
But there is always something for folks to talk about.
An island that is probably the origin point for many Skykids.
Using the Sky map for reference, Home is seemingly placed directly south of Isle. And, the Runaway Aurora spirit also came from a place that was assumed to be from south of Isle.
Because of this, Home used to probably be a more important area, but rising sea levels caused most Ancestors to abandon it, save for a few.
I personally don't consider home canon but as seen above others do
Why is that?
don't like it
