RAAAA ALASDAIR FIC!!!!!
Omg I love it
steals this hc for myself /hj
I could see that happening! I find it super interesting there are twins. Because on how they’re for most part a mirror of their other half, it would be so cool to think they were originally one star that split, both have prosthetic arms, and missing an eye, maybe they even have prosthetic legs too!
Just AUGHH it’s so cool that they’re split instead of an exact copy from another
I had a tiny idea that they could've been conjoined, but I don't think there's enough logic to explain how they separated so it's stored far in the back of my mind
The twins probably had alot of pressure on them to compete with who is better, they probably were compared by the other Elders which caused their relationship to become strained
Tho they definetely were best friends as children, before those expectations really hit them
Yo same brain??
Because they’d almost exactly what my headcannon for them is like, though I see
as an overachiever to revive praise from the elders (thinking of golden child syndrome where a kid is praised in their younger years but realize they’re average, and try to achieve that same praise that doesn’t come easy now), with
being one step behind them always no matter how hard they try
I like to think later on they slowly mend their bond, but at when the kingdom started to fall apart I can see it being strained again
Ah you mightve spoken about this before then huh, sorry if it comes off as copying
That's definetely what I had in mind, but imo they're both better than one another at certain things and constantly compared for it, they can just never win no matter how much they tried to please the other elders. It seemed they had to be perfectly equal to one another to be perfect.
It’s ok! I’m stoked that people have similar ideas of their dynamic!
And yeah I can totally see that being the case, each having their own skills, strength’s and weaknesses. I can see the push of them wanting to be equal and better than one another be unintentional from the other elders, seeing them just wanting the twins to be their best self but unaware expecting that is more harm than good
Most of the elders probably had their own lingering pressures, that weren't brought on by anyone in particular, but their own insecurities
Kind of like a lingering bad feeling
And I could see the elders silently taking it out on the others, not in a bullying or harrasing way, but a very, very minimal way where you don't realize it's doing damage till it does damage once time passes on
The valley twins were probably the most noticeable of the effects since they're a two-in-one person basically, it's like having an inner conflict with yourself
I'm personally a fan of the flavour of Valley Elders where they were both basically gaslighted into being identical to each other in even looks and not being individual at all before they blew up and were like "OUR REALM, OUR TITLE, OUR PEOPLE, GO AWAY" and decided to divide up stuff between themselves to make things easier to manage but still working together. They're Sunset yes but they're also Sun and Set, they are a unit but also seperate.
I dunno I'm just really into individuality but also strong bonds and taking offense to having other people try dictate over others.
But thats like, pure fanon fic shenanigans lol.
I'd so love for the twins to have individuality but man, the angst is EXHILLERATING LOL
Im eating this I haven’t thought much of this dynamic but I love it
Which one is Sun and which one is Set? It can be interchangeable ofc but how do you think it would fit better?
For me Sun/Sah(concept art name) would be
and Set/Mekh
but that’s just me (and yeah I can also see it being interchangeable too!)
Tbh Sun/Sah and Set/Mekh kinda rhyme with eachother 👀
i'm loving this concept
eating it up
rahhhhhh them
Can I just say that the swearing block enrages me? Cause it enrages me. I can't even view the message to figure out what swear I said.
RAHHHHH THEM
always copy your message b4 sending.
Also silly childhood nicknames that are terrible: Sunny and Setty, Sasah and MekMek
this is me being delusional but their hair fits as well with the names in this case
brb imagining them getting unreasonably angry over this(as small children tend to do)
It fits cause S and T sharp and M and E is more rounded
I wonder if there was a society in Sky before the first elder became a reality?
I don't know how to word it but, I imagine Isle was the first considering how old he is? (And he's the first realm)
I’d say so, I can imagine ancestor kind being much smaller back then like small villages spread throughout.
And ya I also see isle being the first elder to fall, I’d like to imagine them falling really helped bring everyone togeather as the others followed
I can hear Daleth's "Back in my days" stories from a distance
Exactly what I was thinking! Perhaps they were also the one to bring the prophecy to light; I imagine since the elders have close connections with Megabird, perhaps they got those prophecized messages?
God that reminded me of somthing i wrote about this but it’s a giant text wall
I mean, put it here if you want 👀 I don't mind reading
-Cracks knuckles-
Daleth: The eldest, they fell when ancestors were few and between Always humble and never one to use their status to get what they want. Even when the earliest ancestors held them in high praise as a gift from megabird. They’re ledgends are great and plentifully. From bringing fourth the birds to pushing back the beasts that roamed the land. Though for how long it was ago, the legend’s are more of campfire stories tell to children, not knowing what was true, false, or exaggerated.
As Daleth grew closer with their people they notice the struggle it takes for them to ascend, having to make the journey to eden. Through the current wilderness on a path, dangers lurking at every corner.
A person in death shouldn’t have to strain themselves for longer than they have too, they lived their life, and deserve to rest. And maybe it was instinct, or a gift megabird gave them, but they soon learned they can personally ascend their people. And gone we’re the days of the endless journey. So Daleth settled, growing isle into a small yet tight knight community that slowly grew though the centuries. And that’s when one of a newly passed ancestors suggested to them of what they were. There were elders for the creatures in sky, ones that were the protectors, the guiders, the leaders. From colosal birds to jellyfish bigger than the oldest trees this was their species elders, and maybe Daleth was their elder too.
Context of me explaining how I view each the elders charaters
like 97% of this is headcannon stuff
But I was reminded of this because i Can imagine ancestors existing way before the elders fell, just not as in unison as seen ingame
appears ahd hops
hops with you

more hops
Even though this is a headcanon, I can highly agree with everything happening
Daleth translates to ferryman, right? So he paved the way for the ancestors to thrive, for the kingdom to thrive
Oo I’m not sure of the translation but yaya exactly!
I wonder if the elders get younger each time they fall, example; Vault would be the youngest, being the last realm
I've always wondered how their aging works, since the twins look very much younger than Isle or Prairie
One question
By "the kingdom" do you mean all of the realms or just Daleth's in particular? Ive been thinking if it was the latter, ancestors would pass outside of Daleth's reach thus not easily being ascended (without their help)
The kingdom, he didn't directly affect outside of Isle but he still paved a way for the next elders and ancestors is my opinion
*sees ferryman daleth
* one of my hc is we are ferried to isle by the isle elder cuz of of how we appear near the shore
Me too, for me I’m positive Daleth was first and Ayin second, but I’m not sure for the others. Logically wise I think it would work if their age went by the realm order. In my head cannon though I mix it around
My friend made a point a few months ago about their age, but it's kind of hard to explain so bear with me
appears once again and waits
So sky sort of represents a journey of life, right? As you grow older, the people influencing your life become younger
I can't remember the exact words they used but I remember them saying;
Valley would be young adult, having responsibilities but still having fun and enjoying your youth while you have it. The valley elders would represent your close friends during your young-adult years
Vault kind of represents old age? So perhaps vault elder represents a grandchild guiding you in your last years of life
And Prairie and Isle would represent grandparents/parents
I'm gonna try and find the original message cause there's def alot missing from this
Ough I remember this theory! But yeah I get it!
Vault goes spspspsp makes this theory 10x more enjoyable
The elders probably are close to age to eachother too
Probably yea, at most like a 10 year difference and a min of like a few minutes looking at Valley twins
did the elders also came from the stars?
so they're like us then? like stars? or more like they also came from the galaxy or something like that? idk if this makes sense english is hard
I can't find the original message my friend made about this theory, so take what you have 😎
ancestors, elders, and skykids are confirmed different species said by one of the devs, I’ll try looking for the message for it since I remember seeing a screenshot of it
And yeah maybe in sky world there’s different kinds of stars in theory, we’re not exactly sure how skykids and elders are made in cannon though, only know they come from the stars
I suddenly remembered the Tears of Forest's theory and
I can imagine how excited Forest was to discover the darkstones and it's power, showing it off to the other elders like a child showing someone their art. They were so proud of what they had accidentally discovered.
And then they watched as that darkstone aided in the downfall of the kingdom, now feeling horribly guilty, wishing they had never made that discovery.
where can i see more info about the elders falling down sky? i think I've read in a document before but i think i lost it
I'm not sure what document you'd be looking for, but I'm pretty sure in the game's intro it shows a mural and dialogue of "the stars fell and made a new home"
Tears of forest makes me imagine that the dark rain is tears of sorrow
I can't remember what the exact theory was called but I know it involved Forest Elder's tears being a metaphor for the rain
Exactly my thought😭
Since this is lore chat, hello and question are sky kids fallen stars?
that was with the old intro, they changed it to a new one and that bit is not included or implied (in my understanding) anymore.
it's raaaaining crabs
I’m curious, can someone send me everything they know about sky lore? (if they can/want to!!) I’m really interested in learning ab what others theorize ab it
X2
Same
H m m, seems like lore-chat ||died|| …How do I revive this… Is aurora cannon? Like the whole event? If so, is she a goddess? Or maybe a spirit?

Season of Aurora is likely canon, although the general theory here seems to be that Aurora herself takes on a role more similar to a voice actor or storyteller
I've hear the theory yes it is canon, and she is in a way megabird herself
Omg thats such a good theory?? Also, I think the battle we saw in the music video was what happened to golden wasteland, (IDK IF PEOPLE ALREADY TALKED ABT THIS LOOL)
That was briefly considered, but to be honest it’s very strange making a real person who wasn’t referenced visually in the game before the teaser mural dropped the god of the entire Sky universe
Emphasis on real person
Wait wait wait- im behind on sky lore, the mega-bird is the god??? Help where was I for this
Fair! I only believe it because of how the story carries out in the concert! But I understand that it doesnt have HEAPS of evidence to support it and yes, we dont see her (besides the mural in the music shop) before hand.
Again that can be accredited to the fact that tgc never knew if they would have a collab with AURORA and I'm fairly certain AURORA wrote(?)/created the story for this season herself
Again that's just my beliefe soley looking at the in game story and not considering other factors

yep! I'm pretty sure theres a few pinned links/messages which go into detail about it if your curious
Woahh, ill def go look at those!
re: Megabird — read this write up: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Not sure how helpful these are I havent read them in a few months so not sure if they're quite what your asking for but:
(Filter through them if you like! I think a fair few cross over eachother, and a few are relatively long reads

Worth noting that a lot of the lore posts from tumblr heavily rely on concept art, however concept art ≠ canon and Skyblr tends to conflate fanon with canon. Just keep that in mind
I’m not sure how easily this can be answered, if at all, but with the concept art in mind, do we have any idea what the King was seeking and did to result in, well, Eden being what it is today?
Thank you !!
My HC is she is some kind of messenger of megabird. I kinda see the Sky deities as a holy trinity kinda thing. The light, Megabird, and guides of the light.
What was the King's motivations/goals))
hard to say considering they can't be found anywhere in the game itself
Noone really knows, perhaps just owning a thriving and powerful kingdom. And his power trip corrupted him
MMM That's the vibes I was getting with how things were built
I'm going to pick the worms from everyone's brain to fuel my concepts for my silly little sky world
hnnnn I love doing that I wish I could live in Sky fr fr. If you make any Sky art I'd love to see it ❤️
HI OSLO
Eden was the King's city. It was intended to be the best and biggest. But the big ol power diamond at the heart seems to have overloaded and exploded, causing the storm! All speculation but that's how I see it
How I personally kind of understand it is that there was an obsession with power and/or light/connection that developed to an extreme degree. For AU reasons, I imagine that this obsession wasn’t always present, that the King was once revered, but it did prey upon that desire to be something more
Yesyes yes agree. I think Alef (the prince) was a good soul, but they were misguided somehow
i was thinking about this and its really interesting to me because im in fandoms for several other games and its kind of crazy how much Sky theories often have concept art as their foundation compared to the other games
maybe it's because the other games in question have more fleshed out lore but its still intriguing to me i think
My beliefe is similar: he started out just seeking a way to help his people, but became to obsessed with the power of the light, and tried to store it in the diamond(the battery) which was supposed to power eden.
From what I gather I think the King people refer to has actually been replaced by the sky kid in the Prophecy murals. I don’t think they were actually anything special, just someone who was mistaken to be a “chosen one” because they were the ones to fully complete all 4 trials. I personally believe people saw them as a savior when they were in fact just a normal kid, and the pressure of the sudden position made them take rash decisions, like putting up the Eden diamond, which ultimately backfired
Shrimpteresting, let me put that in my pocket
Right because it wasn't JUST about the kings personal power at first. Darkstone led the kingdom into an era of prosperity. The king wanted to continue that legacy but got carried away
Fat agree. I honestly believe Alef is just a regular Skykid that the spirits put on a pedestal
Are there screenshots for these murals for me to gawk at? I can't log in right now ueueue
I can go take a quick screenshot if no one has them already
Salem is typing we should be good on the murals part
My au does get really dark though
in order to charge the battery, he would syphon the light from, at first light creatures, but then turned to draining it from skykids
I love love love lore but my silly little brain is shy to ask questions. I want to absorb all of it, feast on ideas, I will become greed, feed me
Fun fact, Eden was most likely not a city! We don’t see any ‘city like’ structures; the ‘castle’ we fly through at the end seems to be more like an elder’s temple, as we see it referenced in the Isle mural listing off the temples.
A much more likely candidate for the kingdom’s capital is Valley of Triumph/Golden Valley. It’s in the center of it all, has lots of buildings and homes, and is referred to as a city in Valley’s splash text ‘race down the slopes and the city gates will open to honor you’
The sky wiki has a mural section under Lore that you may want to check out >:3
also valley has the most residential infrastructure, Eden is similar to wasteland in that it's more industrial
Yes but! Consider the Disneyland oob: those structures resemble that which we see in valley, however they are much lower than the "castle" we pass right at the end
Edit: and the structures we see when we come across the king jelleys
Could you show me pictures of that oob? Haven’t seen it before
I'll go hunt it down quick
I like to think the massive buildings we see when we fly up to orbit (and some of the buildings shooting off them) are part of Vault personally!
What my initial thought was upon seeing the desolated structures, was that there was plans to somehow bring the heart of the city (or simply the king itself) closer to the Light.
That looks more of a castle than a city
The lower structures! Sorry for the bad quality but the lower structures resemble more of a city
Thoughts on this are welcomed too, I'm curious to have it broken down :0
These ones^^
If it was a city could you imagine the amount of spirits trapped or hiding
Reminds me of the pointy roofs from Valley (citadel)
Their density and their scale leads me to believe eden was once a HUGE city
That's if it developed far enough for there to be many inhabitants
It is at the center of a mountain that exploded and caused the kingdom's apocalypse, I doubt there are any spirits, in fact I think that they were the ones that died first
( if anyone hasnt seen the Disneyland oob and wants too, all you need is a table/hammock and a friend with piggy back unlocked. Go to the wasteland "social space"/area just before the whirlpool and piggy rocket up)
valley is also in the middle of the kingdom (map shrines) so it makes sense for it to be the main city
Dang imagine having friends to get there
True!
Eden may have not been livable yet as others have said: plans for it to be the capital, but ones never saw through as the diamond erupted before construction was finished
it doesn't look like a residential area tho, it more resembles wasteland with all the pipes
This was with my only friend at the timr🤣
Havent been since lmaO
Yeah I think Eden was just the sacred location where the spirits used to ascend from, you can see murals of it pre disaster where there wasn’t a floating part
Even if the diamond exploded before the construction of the city, it would be uninhabitable due to the corruption
Agree to disagree, I've studied this picture very hard for a drawing reference, and the structures (with a better quality image) look much more like valleys
But it did seem to have an elder's temple!
which part? /genq
Here you can see the beam in Eden portrayed as just a mountain
OH YEAH
THE ONE BEFORE WE GO TO ORBIT?
Yeah! And the castle itself :0!
This part
ah the part that got blasted off again team rocket style
that would make sense, but do we ever see this building outside of oobs?
(Again I apologize for the quality lmAO)
And not that I'm aware of
though possibly if you go oob where the jellies are you might see them (again that's an oob, but the we cant see the top of those structures)
I am assuming it is the one that looks like the one in Vault's summit
Heres a much better shot
The bottom part looks like a boat or some sort of ark!
I wonder what the structure really is. I immediately think that it'd be related to the Elders in some way, or that the King was trying to bring itself closer to the Light?
True!
I think some of that can be contributed to this specific eden being a 2D cutout style
But that's a good point
It's interesting to me how much detail went into this eden, considering the only way to see it is oobing
I'm Chinese. I want to download the test suit. Where can I see the invitation code? Is there any kind-hearted person to help me?
Do we have something like a google docs where I can get a general idea of our understanding of the lore as a whole?
Here ya go
Thank you!
I remembered the Reddit AMA was a thing… sorry to burst y’all’s bubbles but it looks like we’re not going to ever get krill call :(
Unless they figure out how to make it sound good
I can do the krill call irl
What significance do we see to the Isle Elder being present in the second(?) song for the AURORA's concert, by the way? Standing in-front of the gates before the Ancestors. Are they greeting the people? Were they waiting all this time?
Welcoming the ancestors
Maybe just a lil Easter egg👀
But ooo I like the idea they where waiting for the light to come
omg this is pretty, is this the old eden or the new one?
To be sure they could find a way to make it sound cuter and tamer. Like the crab call yknow
True
this also looks like the top part got yeeted up
I thought the same!
And this is an oob (ive seen) called Disneyland, its above the first part of wasteland! (The whirlpool)
I couldnt garuntee it's still there but I think so!
(Now I'm curious if it is and if so, if we can see it errupt)
i was watching some sky oob vids on yt earlier and someone was able to glitch to that islands at home and they have murals on them??? not sure if it's a mural from old opening cutscenes tho.
not sure if i can post screenshots here bcus they said it's from beta but if u wanna check it out their channel is kakdamba
they prob meant the Sky: Light Awaits beta, which is the pre-release testing beta of Sky: Children of the Light, the version we're playing. those old murals were part of the intro of LA. TGC just likes keeping their assets around
I should clarify that you’re free to post anything from LA
it doesn't look like light awaits tho it looks like the current one we have plus they were wearing the red switch cape and i don't think that existed back then? but i do agree that i might be from the old cutscenes.
still interesting to see
No i mean the murals themself were from LA
ah that's what u meant! sorry sorry
speaking of murals, are there any documents with screenshots where i can look at the prophecy cave murals and the order they appeared?
you can recreate it yourself by following the braziers on the floating rocks, but Salem's mural masterlist has the Cave of Prophecies murals: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FQgj2Ii1A9p1kSly9rehvZU-fPsKtGazuEGvE3Od-Bg/edit#heading=h.l7j09afrrijj
thank u!
OK SO OFF TOPIC BUT DID YOU KNOW
IM AN ALTERNATE .
IDK HOW IDK WHY .
BUT I AM .
Pardon? I'm not exactly sure I understand what that means.
Ping OK
The Remembrance Emblem is a memory crystal
Are they going to share the same constellantion Since/As a consequence of that?
There always have been blank stars in the realms constellation ever since I started playing Sky, during Season of Sanctuary.
So
If TGC had always crafted those blank buttons, would this constellation "fusion" be proven soon?
What do you think?
||Also consider that I'm not a native speaker, tell if I messed up with the Conditionals. I'm going to have an english test and I'm trying to get used to them 😅 ||
I feel like they’ll make a similar yet different design, can’t see them using the same constellation exactly or make a fusion but we’ll see in a few days
But those blank stars buttons has always bugged me, we can tap of those and they even have a tipy flip animation
I'm currently on my mobile and I can hardly touch them, but I got the feeling those in Vault constellation are now stuck
Spaghetti code maybe, or to connect the dots to make the constellation connect with the drawing behind
Wrong reply help I was working on somthing else
Hmm I feel like reconstruction this theory:
OLD TL:DR:The broken temple in Gw was Valley’s old temple but then war happened so the twins sealed that section off to prevent it from spreading to the rest of valley
NEW TL:DR: The broken building could’ve possibly been a diamond factory in golden valley, but as the war happened along with the introduction of krill, the twins were pushed back and forced to put the cyclone to protect the last of valley.
The old theory is pretty outdated and I’ve changed my outlook on a lot of things so: while the broken building looks similar to forests temple, and what I assumed was the twins old temple back then, there’s alot of key differences. (No statue, and even then it doesn’t really feel valley, maybe without the water it could reveal more of the factory look.) There’s also seemed to be giant golden pots in the broken building too. You can also see these in shipwreck and scattered across the map, like the ones at geyser and abyss shown here. What they can be used for in not sure, but if shipwreck was carrying them I assume they could’ve been used for diamond production somhow, maybe they hold bigger diamonds for bigger structures?
Anyways the war right? Completely destroyed wasteland, and brought krill, how krill came to be in not certain but they’re confirmed to be currouption, maybe from too much darkness or somthing else.
Point is if that krill in the broken building is enough evidence, it brought wasteland even more ruin. I can see krill not afraid to ram into buildings if it meant getting their target.
And obviously as animals would do, they might wanted to expand, which is a huge no and would put the kingdom in more jeopardy.
(Splitting this into two it’s long)
Yes, that could be a functional explanation
Yet, as soon as I can I'm going to test any blank start button, in any realm. Or at least I hope I will remember to.
So what’s a solution? Lock them in. only thing I still belive in my old theory is that the twins very possibly where the ones to make the cyclone that we see to enter wasteland. They’re shown to be gifted the wind element from prophecy and also hint that they used their powers to make the flying race based of the arches and building we see on the bottom of the mural.
And with how wind behaves I feel like it’s the best course to keep the other ancestors safe, the cyclone takes and never gives. Unless you have a boat to travel very far out of wasteland, possibly the border of it, your stuck there. Is it awful for the warriors and everyone now trapped there? yea. Was it a nessecary decision to protect the rest of their people and realm from being krill food? also yea.
That’s just what it’s like being a ruler, it’s your responsibility to lead and protect your people, at any costs. Even if some will die it’s better to save more.
The NEW theory is intriguing. Still, I'm sort of rooting more for that OLD one. I like to think the GW is a replica with a certain function/role, but not as a factory (pretty sure I ranted many times about why I think Sky "factory" looks as an outdated concept from my POV)
Anyway, gotta go. I need to attend class now
Agree to disagree then, abyss to me is a darkstone factory that I think is clear in the many murals, sure it wasn’t wastelands only role to be a mill for diamonds. But I can see the factories being there for how populated it could’ve been back then and the demand for diamonds so they built where they could.
Abyss is so beautiful on surface but darkness lays below
before wasteland was used for factories, what do you think was the main purpose (not sure if this is the right word) of the place?
I think they just had convo about this if you scroll up a bit
ah took me a while lol eng is not my native language
so if factories already existed before the mass production or even the discovery of darkstone what did they make there? did i understand that correctly?
tbh asking this is kinda stupid bcus we don't really have enough info 😅 but i always wondered what GW was before darkstone era
Where’s this cave w the gold things?
Treasure Reef
Hewwo ,how's everyone doing??
I don't think the twins were the ones to shut off Golden Wasteland, unless they did it from Golden Wasteland and then went to the Vault/Eden because of the shattering memory where they're with the other Elders.
im going to manifest so hard for the paperboy card today
Hello everyone, I was wondering since I was a moth: are the two mountains far away that we see from Home supposed to be Isle of Dawn? Since we kinda start off at a beach, did we swim over there from Home but now we use teleportation (in some mysterious way?) to get back there?
That's the old gameplay intro island from 2019
So it is Isle of Dawn that we see?
You can reach the island through OOB methods (that are now patched) the island is quite small to be Isle and it is just a left over asset before the intro was moved elsewhere
Technically it never was stated where the island falls on the world map since it has been retconned, but personally it is not Isle
Ohh interesting, thank you!
Where is that
Hmm true ,you can always enter the cyclone though not exit, so it is possible to still make it to eden/vault. And if you can make the journey then treasure reef is a enough proof the cyclone doesn’t stretch on forever. ould be either one of those
Abyss/treasure reef, like started above
What's the big dimond thingy that spews out a red beam in eden?
These photos are taken in office
So like, y’all telling me that basically each map actually presents an age and when we get reborn is like a new start or- sorta that sky kids are immortal?
I mean, even the details show how the age goes, like in valley, it shows that like in adulthood we have ups and downs
That makes more sense
It’s a concept piece from a PowerPoint presentation TGC did at some place, can’t remember where exactly. Devs did model the realms after stages of life
(Btw don’t ping me)
I feel like there have been more of the things shaped like
(I don't remember the actual name for them) in vault since the update
#screenshots-and-videos message
Memory lanterns
full of memory lanterns
They modeled it in office but it’s blurry
So I came back to this little thing I found a year ago with still so many questions
An answer I got was that this was part of the old Ushering Stargazer memory, apparently it changed a long time ago to the one we see today
Which raises the question: are there more of these mural thingies? Can vets who remember this old sequence tell me if there are possibly more that were in the sequence?
Not an old player but the old mural was probably removed for a reason. Tweaking the story and all, sky changes and tweaks things all the time to align with the current story better (see the many old intros)
Not trying to be dismissive, but if said content was cut from the game it was probably cut for a reason and not cannon anymore (or can not be used as evidence in the story anymore)
a similar argument can be made for concept art as well, the only difference is that concept art was never in the game
maybe thats why i always like going back to prairie. maybe thats also why valley has so many areas and takes so much time since adulthood is so long?
I think valley has so many areas because it is cool and awesome
Yes!! Vault is also very calm and it’s somehow sort of “meaningful” to me I don’t know how to explain
i really like vault too! the echo in vault is really nice for playing music too and it has a very comforting feel
I hope the next season they put in valley is really sad to counteract all the other ones there
i do not want anymore sad seasons after this upcoming one 💔
It’s in vault
I'm not talking about remembrance
remembrance is supposed to be sad so like. if they did put it in valley it would counteract it.
season of learning how to pay taxes when tgc
O h
I mean valley presented so many seasons 🤔 and they’re all related to adult hood and I find this interesting
the dreams ice skating quest is perfect to represent adulthood. finding yourself, growing, and performing
there's been a pattern recently of an upbeat season and a sadder season and then another upbeat season so on and so forth
as long as the next season after is happy and full of pretty cosmetics ill be satisfied
shattering was unequivocally a sadder season, Aurora is a positive season, remembrance is more sad, so yeah
and it goes back further than this I just don't remember the order
i still can't believe we had a whole lore discussion in gen chat earlier 💀
I forget the term but do you think it’s like that high point low point you see in video games? Maybe it’s like that
oh? what was it about?
Next season should bring a thing related to peace and harmony between dark and light cmon

origins of sky kids, what theyre made of, elder lore, flight, light/dark, abyss season creature experimentation, etc
Yeah wasn’t it just
Abyss - sad
Performace - happy
Shattering - sad
Aurora - happy
And now we’re gonna be sad again
Aurora "happy"?
yeah! it's a neat little pattern!
then flight is happy, prince is sad, assembly is happy, dreams is happy, oh no, my patterns,
I’d say aurora is, for the most part, more positive
ive talked about this before a few times actually because I'm very normal about it
Aurora, while the spirits go through hardships, is ultimately a story about the resilience of hope through the tragedies of life
also, happy and sad aren't the best terms for the pattern in the seasons but I don't know what a better word would be
High and lows?
Fair
I was gonna say something more descriptive but I couldn’t think of anything
I think the first time I saw this proposed light and dark were the words but that also works
That's a good point ig but also this was the one season that directly depicted how cruel ancestors became towards the end of the kingdom and also directly showed us what the war looked like so it isn't exactly the most positive
Aurora as a season (and as a singer) also has a lot of environmentalist themes which are arguably a positive message to be sending
Hmm, needs more crabs
so even if it's not all sunshine and rainbows it still trends upward and I appreciate that about the season
Yeah you do have very good points, I guess Aurora is a generally more positive season despite all
I am extremely susceptible to the fierceness of hope as a theme
dark and light perhaps? like. darker story to a lighter one. ironically those terms have additional meaning esp in sky lol
I’d say the sadder parts of the Aurora season are what ultimately allows the happier parts to shine through that much stronger, and inversely, it also makes the sadder parts hit that much harder since we have something to contrast
Ultimately though, I can agree, Aurora’s season seems to be showing us how much hardship was faced in order to better show how, even when things feel hopeless and lost, there’s still goodness and light to be found through it all
u/TGCWhirtun from the Shattering Reddit Q&A
I think some of these questions have been answered in other places, but I want to touch on question 5. From our perspective, we think there have been “darker" seasons before, such as Prophecy and Abyss. We're always looking to make stories that different people can enjoy, some lighter, some darker, some completely different from what we've done in the past. We'll definitely have more "dark" stories in Sky in the future.
prophecy the evil shadow skull season that represents evil shadow furries everywhere
AAA WOUNDED WARRIOR :(((
I'm not okay
neither am i
yeah me neither,
im hurting for all of these spirits
i want to hug all of them
Refuses to give advice anymore, so that people won't rely on it
lil sib...
i want to know the paperboy's deal So Bad
even if they won't give advice anymore so no one relies on them, their lil plant relies on them. perhaps that's why they're so protective of it
- Has a knack for picking up regional accents
cough cough
Probably gonna be next since questgivers tend to be the last !
i want to Hold them all
cant wait for the lil bro and then the guide, how sad will they be
ough look at the mask, what happened to you :(
their mask looks like something (maybe a shard, maybe darkstone) is straight up embedded in the mask instead of on top of it. cant really see an eye other :(
@lusty merlin had a pretty cool illustration about that !
IMAGE IS NOT LOADING SUGHHHHH BUT OMG THE ACCENT HC THING IS REAL
THERES DIFFRENT ACCENTS FOR EACH REALM OMGGGG
i did see that but didnt really understand it, may i have an explanation?
im absolutely guilty of this and i aifsfsgfs can't control it it just happens
I love wounded warrior so much
First thing that came to mind is Bri'ish Wounded Warrior /lh
thinking about
Broken mask from earlier encounters, remaining eye is blue bc of light loss/dark pollution
dammit the image didn't send
K so you know when you light an ancestor after reliving and they seem to be surrounded by a hard shell? I was thinking ancestor biology could be like that but with onion layers
Shell/outer layer skin and all
2nd layer hardened light: the crystallized part from wounded warrior that keeps the main stricter of an ancestor togeather
And internal light, the light that glows when lighting an ancestor, this would also include that little spark they would have when they ascend
taking notes for my lanternfolks
hang on i should probably copy some thoughts over here
Frankly the diagram was super messy and my writing is awful so I can see how it could’ve been confusing
spirits are like onions! end of story! bye bye! see you later.
Bereft Veteran
“Wants to sit quietly listening to the wind blow around them”
“surprisingly handy at fixing things”
Do you think with the chimes in the promo and feathers they used to be some sort of chimesmith, how empty the vault must feel when you’re so used to the ringing of chimes and the chirping of birds, no wonder why theyre bereft, especially assuming theyre no longer around their son, misses both them and the birds :(
also the trend of natural things in these notes are killing me
veteran listening to the wind, tea brewer knowing abt wildlife both flora and fauna, warrior taking care of plants so much, now in a realm that’s very manmade, those things must seem.. distant
missing the natural beauty of the kingdom that was torn by war and pollution
im so normal abt this season you guys im so normal (lying)
ow my heart
The links they could have together tho, Teabrewer's botanical knowledge (as well as ability to make good conversation) with Warrior's interest in plants (to keep this one alive or just because they dream of forests)...
The sapling in Warrior’s card made a friend think of shush’s sapling too, wonder if it’s the same one
Auuuoooouuuughhh this season promises to make us all really attached to the spirits, they're so hurt and traumatized, I want to pack bond with them and give them hot beverage
Oufhhh
taking them all to Forest during Days of Bloom, my treat
<— wanting accent ideas from devs so ik what ancestors and elders can sound like
heh...you would think that
yeah, all we got rn are the yawns and grunts Day and Dusk make
plot twist the accents are akin to skykids honking in child or in bird or in crab
😳 regional accents (im late)
First, I take it back.
Wounded warrior is me and mine and I will never share /j
Second of all, sky accents?
Imagine they speak like sims
They speak in Animal Crossing
Ya from wounded warriors info card the realms all have canonical different accents it seems
I like what Ori and the Blind Forest had going on tbh, so I wouldn't mind that
Storyteller's implied the same iirc
That’s interesting ! I’m also interested in what side of the war they’re on
Which I’m STOKED about, I’m thinking of the twins having an actual valley accent
Or like somewhere that is southern I think that’ll be cool
It’d be nice if they came from opposing sides and settled their differences in hiding / safety
surely they have different dialects too, not just accents
Yaya i has thinking that aswell!
Language lore
I hope we get more insight into what they could be based on
Also do we know who originally put the blossom trees in the realms? Maybe that’s who the gift was from
No idea about the bloom trees of who put them there, but since it’s suck in the ground in their art it could be another type of plant but I’m not certain. Like if warriors plant is planted in the remembrance season area
I like to think lightseekers did
Oh wait ya that could work, and it does take a few years for them to grow so maybe they were waiting until the trees actually bloomed
Wonder if they’ll keep growing into full trees as time goes on
Language lore could honestly be really fun for the AU I'm boiling up!
HELLO WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO SEE MY LORE
what have you?
I feel like there's a solid few parts that didn't come through in this message
Someone , anyone make actual lore for this . Please .
She basically got turned into an alternate and people did NOT agree with that
who is she
Tea .
Dm me we'll talk abt it
is tea your own skykid? I think this chat is more for talking about the lore of the game and npcs and theories about such, not personal characters, so this might lead to some confusion here
OHHHHHHH
oc lore works here as well, we just need a little context before starting
in me and my friends au, the king unknowingly lives on and is regaining strength through newfound power of dark matter hehe

(crossing my text out so i fit in )
my personal theory is that the king was driven mad by the power of darkness and started to delve into it. eventually encasing himself in the eden diamond. in the final shattering memory (elder memory), you can see that it looks like the elders are trying to contain the power but can't, causing the eruptions you hear at the beginning of the game? this isn't really supported by much, and im fairly new to the lore and everything, but i thought it was kinda interesting
wounded warrior and the slouching soldier are bros I just know it
Is the Sky world spherical?, and there is more exposed land in the Sky planet?, or it's just the sky kingdom on the whole sky planet?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
look, there is gravity in sky, this means that the sky world need to be spherical, but maybe youre asking "so, why are floating islands in sky?". Short answer: magic..., we know that the magic can break the gravity thanks to the gravity spell and the trial of earth. And we can prove the existence of gravity and affirm gravity isn't magic too thanks to the default state of the environment. Without magic you can't break this natural law on Sky (examples: without light you can't fly, without activation of a dark stone mechanism the pieces of the hidden forest will not reassemble, etc.)
And gravity only exist with mass, like the earth, the sky world needs to be an sphere, so....
What's further away the ocean?
I'm just shrugging because there's nothing on this that's been told to us
what would you use this info for?
I ask because sometimes people treat this chat and it's regulars like a search engine akin to Google but that's not true, we're just passionate people
After running through Valley, I had a thought about the games played. I wonder if the sky and ground races were a way to determine a spirits place in the war. That it was disguised as games for ascension
does anyone else think this might be related to the blue light falling onto battlefields we saw in the aurora concert or is it just me?
you have a home in the Sky Queendom!
Ooo that's a nice idea
I liked to think that's the color of what's beneath the outer layer of ancestors (kinda like how you have white to brown skin but beneath it's always pink)
Honestly it would be pretty dystopian if that’s the case.
Like “ya remember that race you won last season? Your drafted into this section now because of that.”
Personally I just think that races were just that, races. And I also think people can just ask or assess an ancestors strengths and weakness without using the race as tests
Only thing they could really access from that really could be motor skills and reflexes, and maybe physique for sliding race.
But like what about like leadership, ability to follow orders, how well can they handle pressure, can they even fight? Ect
Also I don’t think the twins would trick their people. (Disguising the races and all). I think them having gravestones in their temple suggested that they allow an ancestors final resting place there can be enough evidence that they’re very close to them.
None of the other elders have graves in the temple but the twins hallway is lined with them, same for the races. Would I think conscription could’ve happened? Yeah, but deliberately tricked I have to agree to disagree on that
Does this manga plush have legs or am I going crazy
#questions-and-help would be better for this in the future but I think that’s just the wings
give us giant manta plushie 🥺
it might just be perspective jank + things like tea brewers cup and the kids sleeve looking like the toys arms
hey lorechat, i‘m curious your thoughts and theories because y‘all have based takes: what do you think about vault‘s intersection/relationship between being a library or archive and being a religious institution of some sort? i‘ve been pondering how that overlap works/worked and i‘m interested to see what y‘all think
i personally didn't see vault as a religious institution at all, just a place of learning and knowledge
Eden more likely was the spiritual center while I see the Vault akin to a library and an archive
very interesting! i‘m inclined to agree, but the running monastics/prayer/etc motifs throw me off a little there
I don’t understand
You asked the question, then answered it yourself 😭
Also someone please explain this to me because it looks like someone up there giving light to everyone is that the original purpose of the giant crystal or is it releasing the spirits to ascend
anybody knows what this is? is it a weapon? at first i thought it was a krill leg
i found it in the broken ship. if this is a weapon i think it's too big for the ancestors? but then again the spears found in GW are also big
My initial thoughts lead me to believe that it was just a defect of some sort, like the model or something is stretching when it shouldn't
i thought it was a bug too but then i checked it again it's still there and i also noticed a similar one next to it but the bottom part is shorter
I found starlight desert today for the first time. Putting ||Little Price story|| inside a game, such a brilliant idea! More i know, my love to this game rise!
Who created ? Was it always there? Was it manifested? Is there a mural to depict what it was? Is it a central area for ancestors to get to other realms easy
Manta plushie manta plushie
so, whats do you guys think abt the lore for the fact that sky has no leaves or bushes
? They have been mutilated after all these years or-?
I just realised that… 😳
But i mean the only bushes or leaves we’ve seen in sky r probably the bloom sapling
I mean even the treehouse doesnt have leaves
ktjn (or someone) has said before that home (at least the portals) are for player convenience so you don't have to trek through all the realms to get to vault every time
Has anyone figured sky kid biology?
This got me thinking of it #seasons-events-chat message
Well sky kids r definitely arent made of light cuz the capes r and skids have shadows
capes don't have shadows yeah but it's hard to say about the kids themselves
Ig….
Qucik question: if tgc were to release a full cannon lorse of sky would yall be satisfied? Or happy?
Upset. For the most part
A full canon lore of Sky takes away the mystery of the world imo
Ah oki that’s fair haha
i always thought home was just non-canon, biggest hint for this is the fact when you teleport through a spirit tree it says something along the lines of “join this spirit in the world of sky” implying you’re currently outside of it
I'd appreciate it but theorizing is at least half the fun here so what would there be to think about
Alasdair has a really neat idea about the Sky kid make up. A few messages down from this one they go into what the meteoroids could be. If you scroll up and reply, please turn ping off for Alasdair

#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Oooooh!!! I just noticed the WL in the shattering memory of the actual shattering event, the WL atop the diamond is sitting, holding their knees like the one at the end of Eden

the elder memory? that one is two figures hugging
Do you think you could provide a picture Capt? I don’t go to the shattering memories much
i think spirits are like ghosts, remnants of the past, but the big thing here is that they're still here, and can show us how to express ourselves (via cosmetics and emotes/stances/calls) is because of. like. how they treasured it? how important it was to them? i don't know how to explain. but like, maybe the kids in Assembly grew up, maybe even grew apart, but they all treasured their memories building the treehouse together so much that we can see them still working on it, long after they've gone. i like to imagine that granny always hosted a dinner and everyone and anyone was always welcome, and it was something so important and special to the community that its impression(?) is still there, letting any sky kid come join dinnertime if they so choose
I really like that.
i thought it was kind of a sweet idea
OH shoot!! I will have to see if I can get one. I noticed it too quickly.
The WL on top of the shattering diamond? I may have misunderstood the positioning. I just got really excited 🥲🥹
If I remember correctly, it’s at first in the positioning Capt noticed, then I think later it changes to the hug?? I’m not sure because, like I said I don’t visit shard memories much, but I think you’re both right
That would actually make a lot of sense!! I was going through the red shard on my baby phone account and this is the first time I've been through season of Shattering memories with that account.
I'll test it on my switch account when that memory comes around again and report back

Hey
Frustrated that grown-ups don’t answer their questions about what’s happened
ok alright ok alright ok alright ok alright EPXLODES
MANTA PLUSHIE MANTA PLUSHJE
Daydreams about being a manta rider
IM GOING TI EXPLODE
Noooooooooo they don't understand why the Vault is locked off
AUGHHHHHHHH
putting them in the same room as warrior of love
TGC I beg you let me bring this child to Sanctuary and let them pet all the Mantas
Im taking every single one of these spirits on a field trip to the wind paths, who’s with me
I'll help provide the lunches

New headcanon, Flight Guide does Manta-assisted therapy like how people do animal-assisted therapy
And Light Whisperer is there too to take care of the Mantas and show people how to care for them
sky went through the edgy shattering phase now we’re all just depressed
Worst thing I can understand their frustrations. I get adults wanting to make a kids life comfortable even when their life isint doing well but ik how frustrating it is to have like no clue what’s happening and not being able to question, just having to go along with it when you know somethings off
I think all the Remembrance Spirits deserve to snuggle a Wooly Manta
If we can’t hug any of the ancestors I’ll be sad
TGC I swear to Megabird let me level 2 bearhug the Pleading Child or I'll riot. I want to swing them around and make them laugh happily
Like: “it’ll only be for a little while, things are okay, just in a tight spot rn” ect just GOD I get this kid and the others for not wanting to tell them what’s actually happening, just want them to feel atleast safe
Imagine they became a manta biologist while they race mantas cuz of the trivia fact OUGHH
it’s just
they’re just like me fr
-plushie
-lots of random trivia
-nobody wants to talk to me
💥
Introducing them to Light Whisperer and have them learn how to take care of Mantas
SOBBIGNFBSHSHDJS
I just realized xd
I headcanon that yeti was a wooly manta shepherd. taking pleading child to yeti’s property and politely asking if they can pet the mantas
- Frustrated that grown-ups don’t answer their questions about what’s happened
The real reason no one gives us lore about what happened
Wait that’s actually a really good parallel between us and this spirit lol
I’m busy imagining them infodumping to the other ancestors about their favorite games (they know lots about different games)
OMG the filename
Somebody_please_answer_them
Pleading kid to sky kids: “what happened”
“The war”
“Ok”
(They have the same amount of info)
NAHHH THATS SO BAD💀💀
We don't talk about the 7th elder
skykids spirit era kids
🤝
being confused as heck on what happened
Honestly I can see this, I feel like a lot of refugees have the same info. Feeling lost and all
Was that a Bruno joke?
Who is the 7th elder?
Yeah the 7th elder is Bruno Madrigal
shush /nm
Tiptoeing Tea Brewer:
- Can make engaging conversation on any topic
The true lore hero
tiptoe mayhaps becoming a motherly figure to pleading
:wondering:
I doubt they’d answer us tho
“You’re not old enough yet” (we’ll never be old enough because there’s no prospect of us aging)
I looked into the other filenames, lol
That_mask_though
Care_for_some_tea
the_Bereft_Veteran
Aren’t they kinda doing that in one of the (really sad) promo arts for rememberance
yea
all those jokes then there’s veteran who’s just too sad to joke about
Leaves from the vine
there's this common sentiment that there are some things one shouldn't talk to kids about, whether cos it's an "adult" topic or because they are personally embarrassed by them. so adults tend to hide to truth from kids by outright lying to them or refusing to discuss those things with them – "you'll know when you're older" is a common phrase I bet some of yall have heard yourselves.
the thing is, a lot of those subjects often do affect children, in skykids and Pleading Child's case being war and devastating destruction. it can also be a matter of their safety as well. what many fail to understand is that there are ways to talk to kids about these things in an age-appropriate manner that children can grasp. they don't have to know the nitty-gritty details or eons of geopolitics, just give them an answer to the questions that are constantly on their minds.
likewise, it's okay to say "I don't know" to a child. yes, kids respect those who are older, but they have to understand that people are human and not always wise or great.
sorry I have a lot of thoughts on this
Wuh
Thats cool
That's the top of the last shattering memory
And filename for the season promo is
Remember_the_Remembrance_Spirits
my question is what ARE spirits? are they dead skykids? why weren't they reborn, then? if they're not, who are they? and why did they come back as ghosts, and where do they go after us 'freeing' them? why are they in orbit, too? what killed them?
what exactly are ancestors to us? are there any left alive
what happened to them
sorry, i just have a lot of questions
Everyone shut up and demand that tgc make that manta plush /j
Sky is like Casper the friendly ghost, but it a whole kingdom instead of a fun house lmao.
You good that's what lore chat is for! - answering questions about lore
And we kinda a different breed
oh, ok! so like.. uhhm.. idk tigers are to cats?
Y’all rlly r
And to answer that @sudden vector , Ancestors caused their own demise by pollution, war, and draining resources
Kind of like what adults are doing rn 🙂
Yeah. The whole game is kinda an allegory for that :(
dont even thats so scary bro
/nm
It’s alright cause there’s money so it’s important XD
big inhale YOU CANNOT EAT MONEY OH NO
wounded warriors filename is a direct attack on anatomy wonderers /j
We know that they got trapped and could no longer ascend to The Light as we can, the intro indicates that a long time has passed, so unlikely any are left alive, but we don't know if its through natural causes or some event.
One theory is the war spread and destroyed a lot. Others that darkness fell like on shattering events and that caused it. Or a combination and more.
If there is explosion they will throw money at it to fix it
this might be why they have the manta plushie too
Gasp it's a shepherd. Act natural
oh thats fascinating! thank you <3
Heyyyyy that makes a lot of sense
Lol, kinda honorary shepherd, I moderate another tgc social media group
increases my peculiar and strange energy
What would you do, if there was a child right in front of you?
punt
Help it
Ancestors may not be able to reincarnate like we can, but even after being ascended it kinda seems like they can come back and forth from the light, like the performance crew in the music shop
use it to ascend my wing
And by reliving them they can ascend
that sounds right! okay i feel like im learning a lot
also it was revealed in shattering that the elders tried to stop whatever the uhh corruption was I think
The lore is actually so fun I thought it would be boring but when I came to lore chat everyone was so kind explaining it all to me
im a giant lore fan but i dont love vague lore like sky's so its really excellent how many perceptive people there are here😭 aiint no way i could figure this out on my own
I'm kinda the same way but I've gotten more used to it the longer I've been here
that and it is really fun to theorize about it wehe
That’s the fun of it you get to meet all these people while discussing and putting together this giant puzzle
It's theorized that, since the Nintendo trailer, some of the sky people came from a different land
there's also memories like running wayfarers and runaway in the concert that suggest this
Yeppers!
OH i can contribute ! one of the remembrance spirits says they can 'perfectly imitate regional accents', meaning that there are at least different sky regions and there are regional differences in speech?? honks?
I wish there was something like an abyss 2, it’s heavily implying that a lot of the kingdom before isle is underwater now
its super great when you get info that validates your theories too or invalidates your old theories but leads to much more interesting new theories
It also seemed to imply that they migrated from a long way off beyond the Dawn
AYO?? i need abyss lore i missed the gotdam season but i LOVE underwater things
I made a movie, so before you theorise, play the season quests, they are very cinematic
This is my personal theory on what caused the pollution and corruption in the land if anyone’s interested (shameless bump)
if you want to increase the mood of abyss quest 4(I think that's the one), play Scattered and Lost from the Celeste OST while you're doing it
i finished them but i am literally so so bad at putting together spirit-relivings into anything even mildly coherent 💀
More lore FACTS!
Mantas were captured and put to work :(.
This shows you where all the murals are, as well as the quests
The abyss crew was hoarding darkstone in a flooded research facility
They were eeevilll /j
bruh
"put to work" really underemphasizes what happened to the mantas
What does this mean guys
Well I'm making it simple for someone who's new ish to lore
Lmao get in the blender
the
Darkstone Production Processon the table:
weren't they put in a juicer
mantas were killed for power diamonds is also a simple sentiment
That's a different thing
at least it's more accurate
both explanations can coexist its okay! thank you both for the explanations
Not really.. mines just as accurate
I hope they put more creatures of light and dark into the game
Eden diamond was meant to be good thing but given the hellscape that is contemporary Eden... something went wrong
@sudden vector may I dm you for a sec?
Ah so that was a picture basically saying the light will go to everyone?
this is what i LIVE FOR EUGHDGH I LOVE THIS TYPE OF CONTENT (sorry for ping i didnt mean to)
btw yall don't ping me
As much as I like the idea (and also concider it s possibility) I don’t think they’ve actually confirmed them to be killed right? just being seen stored and farmed for light if I recall like in abyss, could be misremembering tho
oke
I like the brutal outcome better cause it’d show rly well the lengths they went for technological advancement and it’d be a good parallel to how the fauna is disregarded in the real life search for resources (like in unnatural wildfires)
I always thought of them to have a good relationship with the sky people.
They have at one point, but then
Yaya, also the irony of manta racing being a popular sport yet them being farmed for light despite that
Maybe people in The Valley were against it?
There could be two sides in the war, for manta abuse and non manta abuse
we don't really see the number of butterflies and mantas now that are suggested to exist in the past. consider the huge flock of mantas in the frozen memory versus the biggest flocks of mantas we see in Sanctuary just doesn't really compare.
the ancestors and light creatures probably did used to have a mutual relationship in the distant past, but due to the need for power diamonds & darkstone technology, light creatures were seen less as companions to care for and more as resources whose lives were extinguishable
Didn’t windpaths try finding sustainable ways to use manta the talented builder built s boat that manta could fly around
unfortunately, the wind paths crew seem to have been a minority in their time
Personally I disagree, with the amount of darkstone intergrated (dreams gondola, village theatre ect) it wouldn’t make sence atleast one of them supported it (one of them being twins or atleast compromising to find a middle ground)
i saw someone point out just how creepy valley is, with the constant cheering and shouts, and yet the stadium remains empty..
There's a ton of manta in sanctuary
Windpath crew also probably went down rly fast as soon as stuff started going down
Yeah that’s true I never go to that part haha it’s so difficult like a maze I even leave all the wl there can’t be bothered but they do use a lot of that technology I never thought of that
But I believe they only place in orrary we see that technology is the doors correct me if I am wrong please
Just like irl sanctuaries, the amount of animals there are exceptions to the rule, we don’t see that amount of them anywhere else
the wasteland wasn't always a wasteland
I’m australia we never see Bilbys anymore 😢 not even in sanctuary’s
I could see the ancestors being mixed(many not liking the darkstone process) but on the other hand the way darkstone improved transportation and entertainment and more in all ways made it like a grey area. Like this is extremely useful but the process of having it is unfortunate
sorta like eating meat as a necessary part of one's diet yet disagreeing with factory farming techniques that brings undue suffering to animals and cattle just to make a quick buck
like basically every technology/advanced thing we have nowadays 💀 i really genuinely hate the place our world is going
Basically darkstone to ancestors would be electricity to us to me imo, our lives are built around and improved it in so many ways, it would flip everything if it was taken away (only differnce is how it’s acquired adding more weight to it)
that doesn't mean that these extremely barbaric and ecologically devastating means of production are the only ways things can be – environmentally-friendly, nonexploitative, and minimal harm methods exist. these techniques just tend to be more expensive and slower, which makes companies hesitant to switch. we have to accept that we can't have the instant gratification, cheap commercialization, and high efficiency our late-stage capitalism has us believe society needs in order to create a sustainable, ecological world
I think the laughing spirit shows an example of this, them and their coworker were collecting light from migrating mantas, yet it seemed to be much slower. It would fit aswell, with swiftness being valued in the end (factory production) which lead to mantas being caged instead to gather light faster seen in abyss.
Ahh true true
"we used to guide the migrating flocks... and then we stole the light from the wind. the behemoths that remained were only monuments to ourselves."
im a little late but ABSHSHSHFJSJFJAJFJJDJFISJFJDNGJ
you sweet little child i want to squeeze you so much
Is this what you were qouting Alasdair?
https://www.thatskygame.com/news/shards-of-the-past-arrive-in-season-of-shattering
"Once, we guided the migrating flocks. Once, behemoths flew alongside us in peace. And then we took the light from the wind. The behemoths that remained were only the monuments to ourselves. Our cities shone with a captive glow. We were enraptured as we taught our machines to bind and hoard."
Kind of like cars and their carbon emission idk if that’s what it’s called
Hey! Im sorry for interrupting your guys’ discussion. I’m also not sure if this is the right place to ask this - But does anyone have ideas about what this is? Its probable been asked before but I couldn’t find anything. There’s one in the forest too that I saw. And I think I’ve seen one more but I forget where. I thought it might have been a clock, like the minute and hour hand. It lights up when you walk close to it.
Yeah no idea what it can actually be, I wonder what it can be too
Prairie?
Also i don't think sanctuary area is on the same level as irl sanctuaries.. it's just called sanctuary
I think the prairie one is for the mushroom circle that appears sometimes, and the forest one is for Something
theyre like timers or clocks
Wait actually? Does the one in the photo move when the fairy circle appears
I've never seen it myself just other people answering this same question ¯_(ツ)_/¯
It’s a clock, the dot inside the ring is the minute hand. At :50 a mushroom ring will appear on the island across from you
and finally
dont tell me arent getting a guide card i will riot
We’ll prob get the guide’s card tomorrow
Oh! I’ve tried coming back at the time - cause I thought they were hands if a clock maybe. But nothing happened. So then I thought maybe they were just a little mystery of Sky lore 🙂 but I’ll try again! Thank you! A mushroom ring, that’s so cute.
They better be Lamed’s apprentice I’ll be shocked if they arnet
it might just be referring to the spirits
... imagine if we got a card for the Aurora guide lmaooo
It’s just a link to Aurora’s Wikipedia entry
let me try something just for the heck of it.
Migrating flocks means what I assume the birds and the mantas. Then the behemoths are something big. So probably a whale.
A whale is probably harder to take down than a manta like we see in Aurora's song about Valley.
Took light from the wind?
I joined late but got to see the wind paths so assume it is about that. I assume a lot.
A monument means something big too. A google search says 3 things. A statue of a person. Or a statue for a grave like a tombstone. And a historical building.
Is it trying to say that the war or something that happened were the only monuments that remained to themselves?
Then the cities that shone. Which is past tense and means it is now in ruins.
"We were enraptured"
That means to 'give intense pleasure'. So the ancestors were happy when they were taught their machines "bind and hoard"
They took the light for themselves. And there was another sentence.
"The world of the present can be healed, but our past cannot be undone. Jagged remnants lie in our wake, and even for the mountain it is too much to hold."
So.... the ancestors were taught by whoever to make machines that can hold the light and hoard it. The mountain exploded and now we have shards because of it.
I don't know where to go with this.
Hold up.
There are diamonds that can hold memories. And we light them up like switches. A skykid showed me how the boats and the elevator can float with the diamonds in them.
Did the ancestors messed up when they took the light and tried to power the giant red diamond in Eden?
Well there isn't a clear cause on what made Eden's diamond shatter, but I think it's accepted as a fact that somebody from the ancestor times messed up real bad
yea
Honestly basically every theory about the reason for the Eden diamond Shattering have equal possibilities, but I do like your view on the ancestors being the cause of it exploding instead of the elders
I don't think it was one person? Maybe everyone contributed. And that what made it go BOOM
Oh yeah it definetely wasn't one person at all
Thanx.
Poor elders too tried to stop it.. maybe they realized their mistake
Like the shard memory with the elders?
Its weird how every memory has something we know from Sky.
The light creatures, the shard in Eden, the Elders.
Why were the statue kids in Eden and the ancestors statues in Aurora's song not there?
I know why not the Aurora one, duh. But the kids?
If the shards memories were of the past, then the ancestors and kids died later on. I assume.
Yeah the shard memory :)
I think the ancestors kids were definitely different from us, as sky kids
I have reason there were to sides in the war. That's why mantas were fighting with the good sky kids
Oh and I'm glad the lore isn't too complicated, like fnaf. I wouldn't even bother. But we got bits and pieces that make it easy to understand :)
I think it appears at the time from tgc's timezone? I've read something like that... the clock in forest spawns a rainbow
I like how each fun fact on the info card could be a reason for them to interact and even bond for most with eachother;
- Tea Brewer getting Veteran to talk about their son
- Veteran showing Warrior how to fix stuff (maybe they make furniture together...)
- Veteran teaching riddles and games to Child
- Tea Brewer helping Warrior take care of their plant, or at least identify it
- Child learning about animals from Tea Brewer
- Warrior being bothered by Child asking too many questions and refusing to talk
What if they're from opposing sides and!! Settled their differences!! Because yea!
Oh what if the veteran fixes the warriors plant too?
Vela, those are really awesome connections!!

I can just imagine it now,
"Why do you have a scar?"
"Why are you a warrior?"
"Why don't you talk?"
All the why's from the kiddo
If the veteren is familiar with Flight.. then Veteren can bond with Child about manta riding
Darnit guys where r yall I wanna lore chat!
I mean we have lives outside of this chat ya know
okay i can't still get over the fact that this places used to be water instead of clouds
How did the clouds replace the water anyway?
and is the beam always this intense for ps5? i use mobile this is from the vid uploaded by tgc
i wish to know too 😭 but it seems like this places used to be water during the timeline of the ancestors. at first i thought it happened before the ancestors came or it might be a result of the shattering
oops sorry for ping i forgot to turn off
When explosion happened it evaporated all water and turned it into clouds
Jk XD
u might be onto something tho
what is this im standing on in the last memory? a sword?
is that from the elder memory?
im assuming this memory is showing the moment the crystal exploded but i just find it interesting there's this piece at the top aiming down directly to the crystal
ig so this is my first time in this memory so idk if that's what it's called
I headcanon it's a headpiece from a statue that fell on the diamond and became the straw that broke the camel's back, making it explode
The water is still in some places though
oh like the big statues from gw?
To me it is the Eden Elder Mask upside down
I always saw it as Eden king crashing into the diamond to make it go boom whilst the rest of the elders go weeeee from the explosion
I don't know what it is or why it's there
Yeah the main problem with the shattering memory is we don't know what that thing is even supposed to be
I know? Idk if ur being serious I can't tell tone.. but I meant it in a joking way. I'm sorry I've had a bad day.
I can't wait to see if we ever get sky voice actors though ..
Tbh looks like a sword too
Makes me wonder if the elders disliked the eden king at all?
Hey hey , does anyone have easy to understand lore explanations ? For the main lore and spirits ? XD there is a lot , and I wanna learn !!
THE BOY IS HERE
First one sounds like The Little Prince tbh (/ref from the books)
Oh oh I can give short facts! I'm too tired to write an essay but I could lol.
Here's some tidbits!.
It is implied in the Nintendo trailer that the sky people came form another land.
They've used up light resources, such as over mining and over construction.
Manta were captured and put to work, used for pulling stuff, riding, and their light.
War ensued in Golden Valley, now wasteland. My theory is that two sides. One side wanted to keep using the mantas, and the other wanted to free the Mantas, because we see mantas involvement in the war
Eden was possibly corrupted by the draining resources and war? The resource drain basically caused the ancestors demise. I believe the Eden king had involvement with that.
Elders tried to stop it, but couldn't.
Creatures of light became corrupted, and now they seek light in order to try and restore their original form
^^ not a timeline just some stuff I know
We also know that the ancestors couldn't ascend without our help
The game is kinda an allegory for environmental issues as well, so once you put the pieces together
I do have a feeling that, mantas were afraid of sky people, since what they did to them and what they used them for was horrible, but eventually saw the good ones. Similar to humans and animals
But uh, only a few things have been confirmed official? I think? I dunno. But we theorize and I like it. Your thoughts be valid
Ohhhh okay!!! Where do these stories for lore about the golden Valley etc come from then? And the kind and gods etc
All I knew were realms being based off of the different stages of life, the spirits being people you met along your life, winged light being people who helped you along the way and candles being your growth etc
But I never really had stopped to check the lore of the spirits when I started, and bc I came late not even aurora do I know the lore of xD
We just had a boom in golden valley lore bc of the aurora season! I can find some screenshots that show the people fighting, and we get some of the lore from spirits and the land around them.
And yeah you're correct on the second one! That's also another thing that was discovered.
It can have lots of meanings imo
I see , so sky isn't just a concrete story, has a loooot of little bits of it scattered
Yeah! A lot is still left to be discovered. And we may be wrong about things but that's how we learn
I'll send the photos thay involve lore when I get up to get my iPad lol
hi lol
ok crab talk. I've talked about why I think it would make sense to be able to clean the darkness off the crabs. the problem was that crabs without darkness seem to non-aggressive (if there are examples that oppose this please share) and crab aggression is an important function of the game. so we can't just clean crabs and have them be nonaggressive, then they'd reload soon and be back to their original state (darkness+aggression) because that wouldn't be satisfying. a proposed solution: it isn't the darkness that makes them aggressive, it's just that some are wild and some are domesticated. maybe we could have a daily event or something like that where we can clean the darkness off of crabs, but they remain aggressive all day, because they're wild animals and that's their nature.
maybe they could be temporarily docile after the event
crab bath crab bath
oh I just thought the violent ones aren't used to the light because they seem to be in dark places (?)
I mean even with or without darkness they seem to be aggressive. Is there a change?
Do we know what this thing is?
Location: sanc islands underwater ravine
Star feesh I think
they do seem to prefer living in caves/the dark for the most part, but we see some milling about outside in sanctuary that are aggressive
Someone told me there's non-aggressive crabs
There are uncorrupted crabs on one of the smaller sanctuary islands and can also be freed from the fire near Pleaful Parent. They aren’t aggressive if I remember correctly
I think it's mostly out of convenience, you don't want the aurora concert crabs punting ya :(.
Ye I know I think they have a sense of gratefulness.
AHHAHA imagine doing crab races and getting thrown across the stadium
They also don’t have the darkness flakes on them, which seem to be linked to aggression, as the same is true for the sanctuary crabs. Like most light creatures, crabs might not be corrupted naturally
I think there's a non darkness crab that punts you in sanc? Or maybe I didn't pay attention. Darkness must be irritating them
hmmmmmm since we're talking about crebs do you guys think the aggressive ones became aggressive cause of the corruption or something else
to my recollection, there are nonaggressive crabs at the bonfire that can be attributed to having formed a bond with pleaful parent, and in the office which im pretty sure is a noncanon space
I think the corruption pollution
ohhhh
my long post explains my idea for the relationship between darkness and aggression
does anyone know where the non-aggressive crabs are in sanctuary I wanna find them lol
I agree though darkness definitely comes off as pollution to me. I'm thinking of how we can free the trapped whale/birds(?) in hidden forest like they're trapped in oil
i don't think there are any
They’re on one of the really small islands. Sadly it always takes me a bit to find them so I couldn’t tell you, but you should track them down fairly quickly
i thought they were aggressive, I can check after geyser
The whale n birds? I thought we lit them with the Candle
Best of luck!
thanks!
the ones in broken bridge that are trapped under the darkness mushroom things we burn off then they fly away
Oh yeah we just light them
You are right! I see two that don't have darkness and they are non aggressive
ur playing rn?
they are near where there's a small island geyser that sends you up to the two small floating islands
OOOOOH
they are amphibious ♥️♥️♥️
hmmm would deep calling them make them mad at you after and yeet ya or still non-aggressive
It just flips them 💔 I remember that part. They stare at you with disappointment and betrayal in their little crab eyes
well, deep calling would flip them-- yeah
naur like after they flipped and return to normal would they be angry at you?
oh yeah my other idea was we should be able to flip crabs back over, like horseshoe crabs
i don't know what decides if they flip over, i think they just respawn if you move far enough away
o
does anyone know if we have a lore google doc about crabs? because I've collected some information
As far as I know, we don’t. Google docs about specific aspects of the lore are few and far between, since new information and theories crop up so much in unexpected places that we’d be editing them constantly, as well as having to provide an equal platform for alternate theories on the subject
so sky kids can't breathe under water but crabs don't seem to need to. are there just different varieties of crabs, some aquatic, some amphibious, some terrestrial, or are they like. air ambivalent
helloo i have some questions about Golden Valley, does that mean that wasteland and the valley we know now used to be just one realm? why do we have 2 (i say 2 cuz i kinda see the twins as 1 elder) elders for it? did one came before the other?
I've only read some parts of the golden valley theory here so im not very sure if i understood it correctly
Wastland used to be called valley before the war
And this is canon??? Whaaaaa never knew that
yes i do get that i was just confused why would they have the twins and the wasteland as elders if it's only one area.
It's hard to tell whats Canon because it's never confirmed. But I think the wasteland one is because we got good hints about it
yea is that canon or is it only implied?
Oh no valley isn't part of wasteland, they're separate realms if that's what you're asking
Also pretty sure it's Canon
ah so they're just both called valley oki i see i see
More of golden valley from this tweet when they were sharing concepts of making sky
I find it intersring that the platform before we jump into the cyclone would be a perfect place to doc boats aswell considering the sharp drop (and this could also apply to normal valley)
oh yeaa i was thinking about that the other day too
Inch resting.....
i wish we see more of wasteland's story before the war happened 😦
Yaya! Like I still see them as their own separate realms, just wasteland before could be having a similar name
If they aren’t genuinely Lamed’s appreciate I’ll be upset, I also notice that elders seem to have connecting patterns with the line and triangle when ancestors are seperate, a line and then triangles. Flight guide outfit shows that and they’re also Ayins apprentice
OH TAC YOUR MIND
Omg i wonder if all the elders have apprentices

Yayay it’s a super cool detail I noticed awhile back but just never thought to mention
OH THATS A REALLY COOL DETAIL TAKING NOTES
making a diagram hold on
Elder pics for reference
tyy
Oooo the Remembrance Guide's things look closer to Daleth's patterns
I don't have Valley or Vault constellation finished so no Sunset or Night, tho I'm close
double checking this theory might be semi falling apart help but not entirely
The character in the running wayfarer's memory is not the king. To the left, you can see Ushering Stargazer, and since the child's mom is dead already, the ushering stargazer cannot be the child's mom.
The bestie
i would add images but i feel way to lazy but this is what i observed
Only exception to the small oval and diamond on the chest is flight guide and rememberance guide. What’s interesting is that flight guide is canonically Ayins apprentice and has the same markings, this is why I have a strong feeling remembersnce is connected to Lamed or atleast one elder in some way
While they still have the same oval that all ancestor have on their chest, they’re both the only ancestors with a diamond pattern in any way
AUGH small addon this is clothing exclusive, since some ancestors and elders do and don’t have diamond pupils (whale whisper has diamond pupils and samekh doesn’t for example)
ALSO ELDERS HAVE EXCLUSIVE GLOWLY TRIM WHEN THEY HAVE LIGHT, EVEN THE TWINS DIAMONDS ON THEIR CHESTS GLOW BRIGHTER IN ORBIT
Hey guys, I just finished the Abyss quests a few days ago and I was wondering if there are any theories about the king krill?
Experiment gone wrong or natural dark creature are the prevailing thoughts
there's a concept in a lot of media about how if you dig deep enough down you find creatures that can be considered evil because they attack everything and are almost impossible to defeat. it could be a reflection of the sky, how creatures of light and spirits and such descend from and ascend to the "heavens". in the dark dragon shattering poem the phrase "distorted reflection" is used, which supports the above/below concept
also, the krill in the gw area between broken temple and graveyard idk the name, when it appears it comes out from the ground
Thanks for explaining
ya think that the statues (theres a word i cant remember here) that we save in eden are meant to be other players
any explanation as to why spirits are bigger than skykids?
I believe the simple explanation is that spirits, elders, and sky kids are simply not the same things, but rather, different species !
well that just complicates things even more 🗿
Maybe they're just not the same age ? Like skykids are very obviously kids while elders are... elders, and ancestor tend to be older
and not to criticize, but it doesn’t really make sense either. if i die and become a ghost, i don’t become a hamster or something, i still stay human.
my headcanon is that maybe, from a power-scaling perspective, they’re just more powerful than sky-kids which leads to their bigger size.
This is also true as well, the vast majority of the spirits we see tend to be older than sky children and are adults, though, to be fair, even the younger ones we have seen still tend to be a bit bigger as well
and from a gameplay standpoint, maybe it’s just common practice for character models and assets to be bigger than the player so that they’re easier to see.
this mostly occurs in games like dark souls so that it’s easier to see an attack.
Didn’t mean to word it confusingly, but what I meant by spirits being a different species than skykids is that they’re ‘ancestors’
Dying and becoming a spirit doesn’t make you turn into something different, it just so happens that all of the spirits we are not sky children, but rather, the civilization that inhabited the sky kingdom in the past, comprised of ‘ancestors’
And it’s kind of unknown as to whether or not sky children can truly grow, which is what I mean by sky children typically being smaller than the ancestors, which we see can grow
We have concept art from the Animation Project Teaser that shows us that Wasteland and Eden became foreboding places before the battle from Season of Aurora, and before the Shattering.
Yoooo where did you get this from? This looks sick! Hope some ideas from this concept art transfer over. Really interesting for how eden looks, and the lil tent in the background
POSTING THIS HERE CAUSE THERE IS A LIMIT PER TEXT IN A MESSAGE, AND BECAUSE I NEED TO SEND IT OVER TO #wishlist-and-ideas-archived IN ONE GO
Sorry for my english (non-native speaker) and for shouting
I had a weird dream with a new area, which seemed much like the last part of a the Underground Forest (much like the pit where we see the Mindful Miner kneeling to the Jellyfish)
in this new area, there were the hue and themes more similar to Valley though. And it was pretty large in diameter, but thankfully some upstream helped to reach the top (idk if I started to fly up from the very bottom, my dream started/I started remembering it from the middle).
when I was able to stop in a "rock pad" near the top, I stopped a little blue butterfly like those that went missing from the Coliseum around its SoDreams refurbishment.
I didn't have to call it to see it shining of a deep blue color, it was wonderful, as a metaphor, that tiny flapping "fly" could have been the reincarnation of the Blue Orb/Water Light itself on account of the electric blue I imagined it.
And it was like the camera itself was point from up to down (not strictly vertical, ok, just with a good angle) to let it be the first to be spotted in foreground. A little bit like when sky kid hold the butterfly emote and rotate the camera to see that one from above with us in the same frame.
But as I was saying, it wasn't just the camera angle, not a cutscene, much like in Jellyfish Cave in Sanctuary Island(s). It was just a mean to see Bluefly in foreground. Idk if it could be possible, but imagine it as if only She/They were on focus, while me (on the ground/rock pad) was far and a bit [I guess this kind of filming technique could be hard to implement in Sky, autofocus an such]
Back on topic: but after that awe I was distracted by a far away Unidentified Flying Object (no, not a flying source). At first I thought it was a sky kid with their trail, but the more they got closer, the more it seemed a ground (holding hand) with a very regular trail behind them.
Only thing was, the trail was blue once it got closer enough (easier to spot with a sunset theme, as I specified). In addition to that the more they came closer, the more I realised it wasn't sky kids! It was a flock of mantas (or rather, a fleet, as they were in a strict formation, given the trail).
Furthermore they were not the usual mantas we know. They had only one pair of wings (without tiny flaps, I think) but their wings had their head translucent (much like cosmic manta, but not with that much transparency) and shaped like eagle feathers. SO these majestic creature were showing a massive wingspan even though they were as small as the biggest (regular) manta we see during Orbit Flight among the Eden Castle. As small as those, but looking wider thanks to those transparent feather.
Furthermore the leader of the fleet had the face/was wearing the Tiger Mask from current Lunar Year (soon ending).
Once they finally landed on the large rock pad I was in (in this part of the dream it looked more like a platform in order to being able to hold so many majestic creatures) I was greeted with a kneeling by a Spirit who got off the fleet leader.
They were peculiar. They were the usual blank guy spirit but as tall as the (new) Hide & Seek Spirit. With a mask + hat + prop which made them look like a young samurai-ninja. I thought it was some sort of NPCs from a random event/Days of Whatever, but they were golden/ascended already.
End of my weird dream.
I’m going to sleep, but iirc, it’s from the earliest animation project teaser video ! (And here’s all of the other images it comes along with too
)
I don't remember seeing the first pic on the top left in the ani-pro-teaser, but in any case thanks
Thanks this is much clearer than my mobile screenshot
.https://youtu.be/KevTXLvpmVI.
So so pretty. Makes me wonder if we'll ever see a version of the eden castle un corrupted
It had to be at one point. It looks huge.. compared to us. And we're not too tiny from the spirits.
Unless that IS the eden castle and somehow it got pushed back? Maybe there's different sections
I would LOVE some hints at what they sound like though.. other than the grunts from cutscene
I wonder too.. how the mountain was formed and the light beaming out of it
Sunset Elders
them
Unfortunately they don't seem to have those fancy patterns that other elders have.. Makes me wonder if they even are in charge of their own realm but some sort of vice-president (since some theories suggest that GW and Valley were once the same)
Idk funny thoughts for funny characters
two of them
if they were connected, would there be some land underneath the clouds we use to get to GW?
In reference to the concept arts I believe that the land below the clouds belong to Valley residents that aren't as wealthy as the ones who live above the clouds ||(I didn't use the word "poor" for a reason.)||
Why every children of the light wearing masks, and also some elders with spirits
Interesting! I can't tell if the dream space houses are above or below
I think there's an explanation.. not sure myself. I never really looked into the reasons behind their outfits. I'm more of a history guy
Wait.. dream space?
Yeah the dream season space
fashion choice lmao /lhj
Eidjfjfb I mean you could be right!
OHHH I THOUGHT YOU MEANT SOMETHING IN THE WORLD OF DREAMS BUT IT IS VILLAGE OF DREAMS
Just like when we wear hats. Maybe it protects them from sumn or its just fashion
And yeah sorry I should've been more specific lol
Obviously, the game is happening in Paradise , Edem was attacked (?), Children of light are Angels.
We don’t know anything about lower world, that’s why impossible say anything about in game world
If the lowest world are humans does that mean we can become skykid :0
flies off
I mean I do have my sky kid cosplay
Lmao
Hm?
i think it was at one point an idea in the concepts for the game to make the sky world and the real world separate things. that isn't the idea they went forward with (i think, the story is vague lol) it's an interesting concept though
I wonder how stinky golden wasteland is
May I ask a question? What does lore chat think ab this? The broken throne of Elders? Idk if you guys can see clearly but there is something that looks like the patern at the end of Vault
Unfortunately. I thought it would've been cool
I think there was another one in eden but then it got broken due to the storm.
Um, i think the last time i saw it was in the cutscene (end of vault)
Could it symbolize our power has reach somewhere even higher than the current Elders' and could somehow communicate with Eden Elder?
earlier when i went to granny, i noticed something and i wonder, why the rain can kill us, but we can swim peacefully under water without being injured 🤔
Hmm I’m not sure about that one
This is stuff from early concept art and likely no longer canon 💛
Because the water, clean water, isn’t tainted by darkness
Its theorized (aka not canon but speculation) that the rain in Hidden Forest is made from evaporated waters around Golden Wasteland, where the water is polluted.
It’s all yucky ew
Ow yes maybe that can make sense !
Personally since they seem to to be playing a sort of game sport in their cutscene, I think their uniforms are more simple and would act more like sport clothing than regular clothing. Plus you have them in the prophecy mural alongside some of the other elders, along with the dreams statue which looks very similar to
based off the hair. The flying race entrance also has statues of them with their masks on top.
The statues in the temple is also surrounded by candles, if you wanna think that reflects how often the temple was visited. Valley could’ve been split yeah (golden valley being a downtown) but I just think the twins prefer function over looks.
Plus every elder but
and the twins don’t wear robes, which could get in the way of phyiscal activity.
Heck,
’s outfit doesn’t wear a robe obviously to help fight better in the war possibly, but they did seem to have some more detailing only on their cape.
That’s just me though, other then that I can’t see the twins being like a vice president of sorts or not being in charge of their own realm. I completely think they do and just like to keep things simple imo
Those are great points! Especially if they enjoy being more down to earth because they're aware of outside things changing. They want to keep what they do light and fun.
@jolly marsh I’m not entirely sure what the new season is about, but from what I’ve seen it takes a deeper dive into the war that’s been hinted at throughout sky! It follows different individuals and the harsh struggles they’ve faced during this war, and the area that the season takes place in looks like a hideout where they’re seeking refuge from enemy soldiers
thank you i appreciate it!
No problemo
oh man, anytime I visit wasteland, I have to go through the Seed of Hope memory. I never realized during the reliving of it, when the Hope spirit is saving the first spirit, they're getting speared from the entrance of battlefield. Then when Hope goes to rescue someone closer to Vault, they're getting arrowed from that direction.
Seed of Hope is literally in the middle of the war with no safety. It gets me every time
OMG THERES A LORE CHAT
Welcome, friend!!!
War.. war never changes..
Also it’s cool that they’re a medic
sounds like a group that did not want to fight, but got stuck in the ruin.
welcome, traveler!
lore chat is big pea brain
Yeah… you know what makes it worse?
from what we can tell Wasteland is a lot worse off than Valley financially. Remembrance implies this to some extent, but you can also kinda figure it out from some context clues. Only a few of the higher ranking soldiers get armor, as opposed to some Valley champions who seem to get it just for show in their performances. No one would want to live near all those refineries if they could. Plus, the few Wasteland buildings that could be loosely described as houses are much less ornate and more shoddily built than their Valley counterparts.
All this to say… if Wasteland couldn’t afford much necessary, war supplies like armor, Seed could have chosen to forgo armor they were given despite their important status so that another soldier could get it and be better protected in their place.
explanation: we’re just peas
You can be a pea, but respectfully, I would prefer not being a part of that 💛
You've managed to make this even more poetically heart wrenching. I truly appreciate your insight, Salem. Thank you for being here.
thank you, now I’m crying too
💛
I respect your decision as to not be a pea
Also the thing that confuses me. Since there were two opposing sides in the war, there were definitely territories right? They must’ve been split, correct? Like who owned prairie, isle, forest, and who owned valley, GW and vault? And the first sighting of krills- were they used as weapons?
Seed about to venture into the battlefield in their regular clothes to save their comrades:
IVE GOT A HUGE THEORY TO SHARE WITH YALL:
There once was a people, who voyaged to find a new land because no clue yet. They then come upon the beautiful lands of sky, where the goddes of sky lives (big aroura from the concert) Goddess Auroura welcomes the people and loves them very much. They live in harmony with the land fir a very long time. Generations later, they begin to get greedy. They over use the natural materials, light farm (another popular theory) and begin the wreck the land. This makes Auroura goddess very angry and she wills the creatures to fight against them, knowing there is no other choice. (Inclusing kills. Who I think where created specifically for the war, but they never stopped being full of hate) and that is the war we see. The pioneers then die out, and Auroura is sad they are gone. To replace them, she creates us. Being that look like the pioneers but yet much more pure. Like her, made of light. CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT. BOOOM
Personally, I think the war was split on ideals of what to do with what they invented when it came to harnessing the power of Light. For the ancestors, it was big picture stuff, so the lands can still coexist without being entirely split.
(Again, this is totally my take on it
)
Personally I see aurora as being like a voice actor to tell a story but that’s me
I think so too but on a land based theory I think that one of the opposing sides got pushed back into vault. Like the people from Remember
Those are great ideas!! Thanks for sharing 😄
I especially love the part of AURORA representing anger by wielding those of light as weapons to protect the land.
- the elders seem to be ‘rulers’ (for lack of a better word, they don’t really work like traditional monarchies) of their realm! You can see Dusk leading their army in the murals Night projects for us in their cutscene, for example. Each of them likely acted for the best interest of their people and led them as best as possible. However, every realm was like… a subterritory? of the greater kingdom, making the war a civil war.
- Maybe, but we’re not sure. They could’ve also been scavengers, similar to how corvids were known to follow ancient armies because they knew they’d get lots of dead people to feast on after.
Exactly! Like she had access to the rebirth area, obviously connected to the light creatures, and basically called us her children in the final song. Even if Auroura herself isn't the goddess, I belive she is a placeholder for the goddess herself
Xe is good at that
Ah I see!

A friend of mine and I think that aurora isn’t necessarily canon, or a thing that exists in the sky world, but represents something else. Like definitely a being that watches over sky, but maybe not directly aurora
Yeah something like that lol very much agree
From what I can tell it’s more like Wasteland got so destroyed that some of its people were forced to seek shelter in the closest place they could find, and that happened to be Vault
To me I see her as a sort of storyteller in a way , I think the stories she sings happen but herself being a goddess not so much cannon wise, I feel like they’re would’ve been so much more buildup than the single mural in Preformance if she was that important to the story
@umbral steppe I said I’d show ya this so :D. It’s about the war In GW
Yeah I agree with this too. Sort of like little prince?
Somewhat, only difference is that they tried to blend the prince more with the world but not entirely, Aurora doesn’t really get that same treatment
Aurora gave us more lore, prince didn’t really
@random token could the reason why Wasteland is so shoddy be because its mainly a military base perhaps? Guarding the Vault and the gates to Eden? The people who lived there are mainly the workers in the factories and the soldiers, maybe their families. Meanwhile in Valley people mainly lived there because they were interested or involved with sports, entertainment, music and similar. Valley also seems to be on the higher parts of the mountainous regions, considering the amount of snow everywhere thats probably year round.
I see what you mean now!! I agree with Salem about how the war probably decimated the land. Land where everyday spirits lived and no matter the realm, they took refugee in Vault since it was the closest safe haven for them.
THIS CONVO continues to make me sad thinking about the war. Cause like... GW is below the cloud line, so although it's still a part of sky, these are people who came from the clouds and can never return.
Now they can ascend and that's the happy part but man
Yes yes!! Valley was definitely more of a sport section. I don’t believe GW was always a battlefield or military setup, there could’ve been more meaningful buildings and then the military setup came when the tension rose. It could’ve be used as a last stand too
I’d like to think prince does, I’m not too well versed in the theory but I think some folks think the ancestor sections in part could represent a part of sky in a way (that’s what I remember atleast, I could be misrembering)
Maybe maybe. I'm still a little confused on that though.
(Also we really need names for the sides in the war lol)
Ooooh! I could see that!! The Merchant is(IMO the easiest to place) They trade in "stars", so they can easily represent spirits who took place in collecting and trading stars for profit.
A possible idea on how the war could’ve happened, for everyone’s consideration;
Valley is super into darkstone. You can see it almost everywhere you go. Not only does it power necessary quality of life contraptions like boats, it’s also used to levitate entire parts of the city, presumably just to be fancy and show off. It levitates gold orreries, it’s used in mechanisms to fill stages and the colosseum with lighting effects and fireworks… all of those must’ve taken a lot of mantas to power.
Compare that to Wasteland. You see darkstone boats in Wasteland, and a darkstone grate to protect the temple from krill… but really, that’s all the darkstone in use you see within the realm. The Ark came from outside, for example. But what do you see? Refineries. Lots and lots of refineries. Treasure reef and the second area of Wasteland, for example; we see the silhouettes of many more in the distance. The connection is pretty simple.
Before the war, Valley used darkstone in excess. Wasteland (and Forest to a lesser extent!) was the realm who bore almost every consequence of that, from pollution, to killing off its light creature population, to poverty, to possibly mass dissatisfaction and revolts.
(There is also some interesting darkstone symbolism with both realm’s elders, but it’s a lot, so I might elaborate on that in a separate message if you guys want me to)
Actually it wouldn't be strange if it always was a military set up, especially if people also lived outside of the kingdom and if there were potential enemies or potential for civil war against Eden. Irl for example it wasn't uncommon to have massive walls along the the main cities/most important regions. All the regions before GW could technically be lost but from a military strategy pov it would be smart to have a strong hold before Vault and Eden, which seems to function as the head/center of the kingdom
Thats a good theory. The civil war did end up happening too
Yeah that! Forest and wasteland being suppliers than using it for themselves
Just recently, as well, when looking over shipwreck, you can see how much the ocean water has receded. The ocean should be at the cliffside. The pipes are intake pipes, not waste pipes.
So GW getting the brunt of Valley's over-usage of dark-stone is devastating.
I love to HC that Golden used to be plains of grass and gorgeous vegetation. Rolling hills of oceanside land.
All this is not to say Valley and its elders were ‘evil’; it’s not that simple. What do you think would happen if the darkstone levitating entire parts of the city and many people’s homes ran out of battery? So many people would die.
I can see the war as a worker’s strike in Wasteland that ballooned wildly out of control as neither side refused to back down, both believing it was the best choice for their people.
this sounds like a time to post this lost memory
the land remembers what the people do not
I like to see ancient Wasteland like that too… it had to have been called Golden for a reason. Maybe the grass was golden in the sun…
The text for Seed of Hope’s character card drives this point in especially well:
``The poisoned soils of that field tore away all you knew, save one truth. You held fast to it, risking the only thing you had left.
Because even the deepest shadows would not stop you from reaching to save what light you could.``
As well as most of the remembrance spirits’ cards having details about them being deeply attached to and missing some aspects of their old, now destroyed Wasteland home they had to leave behind when they went in the vault: the calming clear wind, the thousands of animals, the beautiful plants…
I wonder if GW was a field before it became a wasteland
I like to imagine it was somewhat similar to Prairie. Like… Prairie resembles what Wasteland would’ve been like in a better reality
they're siblings your honor
I like to think all the elders consider themselves siblings. Why? It makes sense, they came from the same place, and also it makes me so happy
Or old isle too
Okay, there's one thing I want to say before the season of rememberance begins. I am almost certain that the first two floors of the vault of knowledge are the only ones that physically exist. Once you get to the third floor, you're essentially reliving the memory of the vault as you ascend through the floors. I have two points that brought me to this conclusion:
1: You know how the walls are broken and start to float away after the third floor? I think that represents you entering a space that no longer exists either through the use of the memory containers or from the elevator being a projector. And since the physical location was lost along with most of the memories of that location, we see it as floating structures that are scattered around.
2: We see the final floor at a second location later on in eden just before we go to orbit. The location in eden must be the elder's final resting place but we're able to see it early and let the elders ascend before we get there through the vault elder's memories and knowledge.
The top floor being represented as the elders tombs could also indicate that the other floors could be places that exist outside of the vault
I love this
Where is the shard ?
You can ask in #questions-and-help my dude.
This is the Lore chat.
I think prince has metaphorical ties to the game lore, its just not direct and visual like auroras lore
I think the TLP season ties the little prince into the game lore, but doesn't add much to the world lore itself
whereas in the Aurora season, Aurora's place in the game lore is not entily clear, but it gave us a lot of lore about the world
There are actually a few interesting theories on what extra ‘lore’ TLP gives us; one of them, my favorite, is that each of the spirits are a caricature of one of the elders!
oh that's a neat thought
A summary of the lore of Sky
"This story is called the history of Sky. Once there is a world that the Megabird created, it was too advanced and corrupted with darkness that everyone died! The end!"
Anyone know or have any theories as to exactly how the ancestors removed light from mantas (and other creatures of light) to then somehow transfer it into the crystals?
I have rewatched the entire season of Abyss again, and spent an hour roaming about in ‘Crystal Bay’ aka Treasure Reef, to try and pin down exactly what was going on there
But nothing on HOW they did it
Any insight would be appreciated
There's this Tom Zhao concept art that, although is really old, makes sense for now. I think there's another where it's straight up the Forest temple/wasteland refinery
initially, ancestors might have just collected whatever light was 'shedded' by the light creatures
e.g. when you fly in the wind paths, some of the creatures there occasionally drop wax you can collect
but what probably changed this process was the blackstone - the diamonds we see used for technology everywhere - that is shown to absorb out skykids' lights to (re)activate. the material itself seems to absorb light, and if somehow brought close to light creatures, this process might be automated/expedited to some extent
boom
Hii... What are skykids made of? Are they spirits?
My idea is that, as rooty said, ancestors used to collect light from the wind (see the laughing light catcher's memory) that was then stored in pots. Considering the mural with boats bringing these to the refinery that was the temple, perhaps darkstone was already found and producced using that shed light.
Maybe the ancestors only set their eyes on light creatures when demand vastly exceeded supply and so the latter had to keep up with the pace and resort to more... gruesome means. Especially since it looks like the kingdom depended on that technology.
I consider them to be made mostly out of light and memories
cough cough climate change allegory cough
Ohhh, thank you
Nothing canon yet but according to the help menu, the spirits are their ancestors and I take it as a sign that skykids are their living descendants.
I have a headcanon that both are kind of like living lanterns ! Here
🤩
Thank you so much!
This makes a lot of sense
But blimey it’s so cruel
You’re telling me that the spinning golden bells in the temples are actually/originally cages of light creatures?? O.o
So these places weren’t originally temples?
this is so sad but the art is so cute
I think it's sad because they're all dead (the spirits) and imagine having to relive your ancestors' stories 😭 actually, not too bad when you think about it
I don't think these were bells, you can see the flight spirits using chimes so I think they're both just constructs meant to attract light creatures ! I think the difference is that it's possible some bells like in the prairie village could use darkstone technology to continuously spin, hence why they might not be in the Wind Paths (as the spirits seem against its use).
They so round I love them
This one uses they/them !
Were the wind paths proposed as a new way of travel instead of using the mantas, and the sky people didn't have a good reaction to it?
It is tragic that skykids are lonely in this world, but at least the ancestors seem to sense that since they come back down to hang out from time to time...
That and in the Light, they all give you their winged light if you ascend them, I think they'd treat skykids the way they would treat younger members of their family despite death
They give us stuff :D
skykids live in the ruins of a dead civilization, but at least they have each other
Isn't it also fascinating how we basically learn emotion from them? Like a child copying their guardians
not emotion, expression.
I'm going to say emotion thank you.
That I don't know, we do see several spirits travelling there during the last quest's cutscene so I'd say they were in use until the storm closed them
also skykids show emotions way before they meet ancestors
in the beginning I think it's more just actions over emotion, like a reaction
???
I mean… it is called an emote
I see I see
So the crystals aka black/dark stone (not to be confused with dark shards?) that are mined in the caves of Crystal Bay (Treasure Reef) and in the caverns in Forest (as shown recently in season of Aurora) are a form of solid void that absorbs light
At first it could be used in balance with the light creatures
But as the ancestors society and technology got more and more advanced they needed a way to have a large constant continuous flow of this power
As so captured mantas etc until they were empty of light, thus becoming corrupted and turning into krill?
^is this on the right track?
Like a reaction to something- you know how when you first arrive in the isle or you come back down from eden? If that's whay you're talking about
I don’t understand why you’re showing this to me? But ok ig?
in-game, it's stated that skykids gain expressions from spirit memories. likewise, as Vela stated, skykids use expressions that spirits don't give before even meeting most spirits, like the nod at Dawn Elder during their temple cutscene.
the argument that skykids gain emotions from spirits is rooted in ableist assumptions that I've spoken about before: #lore-discussion-spoilers message. they're not emotionless – they learn to express their emotions from spirit memories.
Guys it's not a big deal. It's emotion and expression. Let's not fight over something silly
It’s all up to interpretation bro. If someone sees it as “emotion”, is fine. If someone else sees it as “expression” that’s also fine
It’s not ableist at all
are we really doing this again
i'm so tired
emotion AND expression guys cmon. let's lower the tension
Just saying the truth that it’s all up to one’s interpretation
being dismissive over us correcting your bigoted assumptions is a big deal.
Soooo you’re implying that I absolutely have to see it your way
how am I bigoted?
I am blocking you. Each of my interactions with you have been unpleasant and you've been overly rude to me for no reason. Lore chat is a place for opinions and to discuss, not to argue whether something is wrong.
Thank you, and please don't talk to me.
no, you don't have to see it "my" way, but I will point out that your way is rooted in ableist beliefs so I strongly encourage to consider otherwise
This! Thank you! I didn't mean to cause an argument over one word..
Definitely
I heard Eden referred to as the ancient capital in a lore video
And that the eye of Eden is in fact a giant crystal (blackstone) that had a reaction to the imbalance of light to darkness and thus fractured and exploded
What are your thoughts on this?
I come to lorechat to discuss lore with yall, but you make it a hostile and unwelcoming place to marginalized folk like myself when you bring bigoted belief systems in here.
Let's move on before a mod comes in I think
Think of it this way Waters. The Sky Kids are like babies. They feel happy and sad but don't know how to express those emotions properly until they learn from the people around them. Expression is how you show things. Emotion is what you feel. They are connected but are not the same thing.
Yeah idk same. Opinions are gonna differ guys and we need to accept that
<@&600489743716712458> Alasdair has been explaining what was offensive in what @random token and @sudden smelt were saying, but both are being incredibly dismissive right now.
I didn't say they were the same thing that's the thing! I just called them emotion. I don't know how I'm bigoted or something.. it's something so stupid and simple..
if your opinion is rooted in bigotries and maintains systems of marginalization, then people will call it out.
Bro I’m just saying that sky stuff and how skykids do about emotions/expressions is all up to one’s interpretation. How is that bigotry
How is saying emption offensive? Alas has been rude towards me in "correcting" me or saying one sentence is more accurate than the other. I'm being dismissive because it's nothing to argue over
Also as someone with autism, please don't say stuff like 'Sky kids learn emotion and don't naturally have it'. I've had people put me down and say I don't have emotion and that I'm just pretending because I don't express emotion in the same way neurotypicals do.
leave me alone
- I explained why that statement is offensive in the link I posted, which EnzanFangirl summarizes pretty aptly.
- don't call me Alas.
But they learn it from the spirits- like the emotes. It's not bigotry??
They learn how to express their emotions. They naturally have those emotions but they do not know how to express them. Again, emotion is what you feel and expression is how you act and react.
Maybe if you put your thinking thonk brain on, you can figure out why it might be offensive 💛
Then that's what I'm trying to saybplease-
Ok now that’s rude
well yall have been rude defending your ableism so
I’m referencing something Waters450 told us once
I'm leaving. I can't handle this. It was one word. I don't wanna be here anymore you guys are mea n and just
What did I say???
Hey guys, can we ignore the trolls and talk about something else ?
I'm not antroll -
I don't know what I did..
Nothing wrong imo. Everyone has a right to internet sky the way they want including you and me
um i was going to ask something but idk if this is the right time
May I shoot you a DM?
#lore-discussion-spoilers message I'm trying to say this as politely as I can but emotions and expressions aren't the same thing. Saying it's 'just an opinion' when you're trying to make one thing into another makes it sound like you're brushing off genuinely harmful views.
If anyone is actually looking for an explanation as opposed to just digging their heels in, Enzan’s explanation here is pretty good. Saying someone doesn’t experience emotions cause they don’t express them in a way they used to align with ableist stereotypes a lot of this chat has been burned by in the past
Catastrophizing and playing the victim after refusing to listen is also exhausting, thanks
you don't have to call me an albeit and be so rude to me.. I didn't want to interact eteith Alasdaie and I didn't want to argue kver something stupid.
look, I'm saying your framing of the actions is rooted in ableism. saying a skykid learns emotions from spirits can be traced to stereotypes about neurodiverse children that have been used to justify their dehumanization and abuse in the hands of caregivers. hence why it is more appropriate to say that skykids learn expressions from spirits.
look, when calling out bigotries, it is not a personal offense against you. more often than not, people who grow up in systems of marginalization consider their status quo normal and don't see what's wrong with it, especially if they are not subjugated by the systems themselves. these systems can be anything from government departments to language. they may seem normal and harmless to you, but for neurodivrgent folk like the lot of us who regularly come here, it hurts very damn much.
here, the framing utilizing language is ableist. all we ask is that you use a different word that doesn't reflect upon ableist stereotypes that have personally hurt us.
^ please god it is so simple
Waters, a lot of people in this community are neurodivergent. We've been put down by so many people, by society as a whole, just because we're different, because we don't act like everyone else. When people act like our experiences don't matter because we're not 'normal' you're basically saying that we're not worth anything because we don't fit into society's expectations.
Pssst Enzan I think you meant neurodivergent instead of neurotypical, but yeah you’re absolutely right… they left the server though
Thank you Salem
When exactly did Waters say “you’re not worth anything bc you don’t fit into society’s expectations”. Stop putting words into other people’s mouths
the things people express are not just the exact words they say
I’m sure Waters didn’t mean to imply that at all
Mama mia
Sorry C we've been having issues with some people who don't seem to get the message that their viewpoints are harmful.
people pointed out that "they learn emotions" is a hurtful mindset, because this idea implies that the skykids have no emotions/feelings before that, a thing that neurotypical people tend to assume about neurodivergent - especially autistic - people
people tried pointing that out so that they can learn to avoid this sort of language and thinking and not further feed into hurtful systems
doesn't really matter if you mean to hurt someone, if they tell you you've hurt them you have to respect that
No no, I know!! I'm glad you guys are having those discussions and trying to explain those things to people - thank you.
It’s something often implied by the “if you don’t express emotions in the expected way you don’t have them” logic. If people think we don’t have emotions, they can justify hurting us much more easily.
Alasdair actually wrote a really good message explaining this, you should read it: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Waters ain’t trying to justify hurting y’all
is Sky up to interpretation? yes, absolutely, you can see Sky however you damn well please.
however if you hadn't taken the time to recognize the systems of marginalization you exist within and the bigotries that they socialized you with, then your interpretations may reflect those bigotries, that certain groups don't belong in society or stereotypes that hurt them. it is not your fault nor intentional, it does not mean you are a bad person. you often do not mean to hurt those folk you offended, but you did.
when someone points out what you say or do is rooted in said bigotry, it is a request to reflect on your actions or words and amend them in the future as well as to recognize other perspectives from people society does not center and hurts.
waters was told their language was hurtful and instead of apologizing and correcting themself dug their heels in
And where exactly did Waters say that autistic/nd people don’t have emotions? They were referring to skykids, an avatar you play in a game
Read the whole message Alasdair sent pls, he already addressed everything you’re putting down and it’s getting exhausting
Actually you and Waters both are, because despite the overwhelming evidence by neurodivergent folks that your viewpoints are harmful and downright ableist you keep digging your heels in and skirting around the topic to make it seem like you guys are the poor victims who didn't do anything wrong.
I think we’ve explained many times how the general logic of “if you don’t express emotions in the typical way you don’t have them” causes harm no matter who it is applied to. Please god, read
once again, the things you express are more than the exact words you say. if you see characters learning to express emotions as not really having them, that reflects on the way you see the actual human people who identify with those characters too
I've linked you my message on the problem with that assumption already but to link it to you again: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
You know, what gets me is that every time, every time, the mistake is at first quickly pointed out and could be resolved with an "oh sorry, didn't mean to imply that !" and editing your message before moving on, but because a lot of folks get the knee-jerk reaction to dig their heels in because someone said "ableist" (even when not directly about them), it always ends in an argument.
You can say something that was offensive by mistake, have it be pointed out, apologise and not be seen as a bad person. Yeah it stings a bit, but having topics like these snowball into messes makes lorechat tiring to use at times.
How did we even get to this argument
look at a mirror
wow days of feast has ended and there’s still a giant snowball here huh
by two people refusing to acknowledge their poor choice of words and instead buckling down on the fact that they did nothing wrong and everyone who said otherwise are big meanies, i think
Two people
ty for the correction, edited
(this is an example of how to take feedback gracefully)
Love your Hollow Knight PFP btw is that a Vessel OC?
yeah!! vesselsona, their name is Zyrka :3
that's a wonderful name
I’m just so exhausted; this keeps happening. I’m too tired to write the rest of the post in as eloquent of a manner as you have so that’s it
They look amazing! I should make a Hollow Knight OC sometime. Unfortunately I cannot draw 😔 but at least I can describe things well
i can't either lmao, but if you want i can dm you the link to the picrew i used!
I wish all people who get mad and anxious and upon getting asked to reword or stop harmful behaviors would consider how we feel upon having to deal with the brunt of all that ignorance directed on us all the time
if I had a nickel for every time a bloke stepped in here with ableism, racism, or queerphobia then threw a hissy fit when they were called out, I would live in a mansion.
i have a question about the forest elder temple will it be ok to ask it now?
Yeah, sure!
Ooh, yes please!
Also Enzan thank you for your help tonight; I don’t see you around here a ton but I always smile when I do.
I appreciate you, Enzan <3
Aww thank you Salem and Alasdair! I have a lot of fun crafting theories with my fellow neurodivergents, so I thought I'd do my part to help try and keep the peace.
do you have lore 👀 i love hk lore of any sort
i dooooo, i haven't actually played hk cause platformers aren't my thing but i did my research and brainstormed with friends who do play. don't wanna derail lc tho so i can dm it to you if you want!
please do
i have hk but am abysmally bad, so i understand
Your pfp kind of gives off the impression of a Skid in a galaxy cloak, which is a pretty cool idea for a cape. (I hope I didn't ping you by accident
)
it's so gender – Bird drew this for me and I cherish zhem for it cos zhe go my vibes so 👌
(also you didn't ping me dw)
um idk if this is a question or an observation tbh 😅 so in the concept arts it seems like the forest elder temple was used as a place to make the darkstones and it looks like it made it into ingame bcus the structure of this place is similar? now i found it a lil bit odd that the forest elder temple or shrine(?) is also placed here. did the ancestors or the forest elder themself made this into a temple/shrine after the main production of darkstone is made to other area like wasteland? now i also wonder when they started to build for the elders. i know we don't really have enough info about this in canon 😅 but i want to hear y'all thoughts about this
ah i was talking about this one concept art!!
the forest elder in their cutscene is shown as a sort of blacksmith
it seems they're themselves very crafty and industrious
it is very possible that the elder themselves worked on or spearheaded the development of such technology
as such, the temple acts as a monument to their (misguided) creations
Ahhh this was literally my question
I think the elder may even have been the one to come up with the idea, considering it would have been rather revolutionary (not saying the spirits wouldn’t be able to get to that themselves, but like, elders r elders for a reason I suppose)
Ooooo
Okay so not only is she scary but she is essentially the evil mastermind as well?
adding on to what rooty and let are saying, i think the idea of combining their temple and workspace into one location makes a lot of sense for an elder who focuses so much on optimizing technology and innovation
(also, the elders and ancestors in sky are agender, so they/them pronouns are more appropriate /nm)
Rain Elder: think smarter, not harder
Wouldn’t say evil mastermind, I think they may even have come up with the idea during the time the diamond was being constructed. Darkstone is pretty much electricity to them so, you can imagine it was necessary in the people’s head
I wouldn't say evil, I'd say misguided, ignorant, with misplaced priorities
as explained in this chat before, the elders each on their own seem to be focusing mainly on doing what is best for their people - or what they thing is best for their people
the forest elder worked on technology that could give their people a better life, with little care for how it affects the environment
it's not that they wanted to destroy the environment - they probably genuinely thought they're doing the right thing for their people
I doubt Rain is "evil" to any degree. in fact, I'd imagine they'd be incredibly remorseful having discovered a technology that was the root cause of the downfall of the civilization they were supposed to protect
i think itd be fun to bite into a chunk of darkstone
If you discovered a strange rock with the power to make your peoples’ lives so much better and easier, wouldn’t you try to explore its abilities as much as you could?
You can tell they seem melancholic when you first enter their cutscene
oooh i guess i always associated temples/shrines to be a place of peace (idk if that's the right word) that's why i find it odd that it's located in a busy place 😅 but what y'all are saying makes sense! thank u!!
I wonder what ‘void’ tastes like?
rock candy (singular)
chocolate
yeah, they’re crying and try to hide it. it took me SO LONG and someone directly pointing it out to me to realize this because it’s so well hidden but it’s true
I think electricity is a pretty good analogy here
you can be certain that the people that discovered electricity and developed the first electical devices didn't think they would contribute so much to mass industries
they were just delighted that people can have a convenient light source
wait theyre crying
Well it can be ironic in a way tho. Imagine that it was a sacred and peaceful place, but it’s turn into a killing machine also signifies the turn in the kingdom’s dynamic: it is no longer a simple and quiet place
i imagine them as being both a place for spirituality and introspection, but also centers of community for the ancestors of each realm! we just only see the main area in-game bc of technical limitations, i think
I like to think at least some of the temples filled a different function before or while being temples. Or even after. Isle temple looks like a dock (hence the free space around the shrine), Prairie temple looks like a storage room with all the pots, Forest temple a refinery, Valley a coliseum, Wasteland a bastion and Vault a library. I recall a stream saying the elders have a very strong tie to the place their temple is (paraphrasing)...
omg now that you say that

Ooooo very true!
Maybe that’s why they’re so angry/distraught?
They carry the weight of what they did..
i remember seeing those photo's but i just thought it was the quality (i wanna believe it and would be gut wrenching if tahts the case, but i just cant see the tear im sorry
)
Yes, let me find the pictures 💔 it was a gutpunch when I realized it too. They’re crying as they look at the darkstone crumbling in their hands
ooh i like this
honestly i feel like it’d be similar to blue raspberry but like. Not if that makes sense
some sorta flavor that’s not actually a real thing like how raspberries aren’t blue
forgot 2. Do the little reply thing heklp
I think it's best to see the temples not like we regard places of faith
but as monuments with different functions, yes
as community centers, places of learning, tombs, halls to eternalize their achievements
Here it is, look at the very end of the arrow in the first picture
like strawberry candy not tasting like strawberry ?
YEAH that type of deal
There’s a chance it’s a visual glitch but it fits so well and looks so much like a tear that I think it’s unlikely personally
‘Bastion’?
big fortress
you have a point. while temples and the like can be meditative areas, they are oftentimes spiritual centers for the community. it would be useful to utilize the space for practical purposes as well like that you've mentioned. likewise, what they are used for reflects the domains those Elders are known to preside over. Rain a refinery for blacksmiths, Day storing pots by potters, Sunset a coliseum where they and their people entertain
If the temples are somewhat equivalent to those elders’ homes, it makes sense that they’d have equipment for what the elder loved doing most or was most associated with
Blackberry?
And yes I can see that
I like to think Day was given votive offerings, thinking about those pots under the slabs in the temple...
They treasure all the pots they got as gifts
So many pots
oooh yes! it's just that in my country when you say temples or shrines it's viewed as a place where you can do quiet reflection but i like how you view it!
man now im thinking abt food in sky n what sorta dishes ancestors n stuff would’ve had since brain managed to link flavor + food
meals would prob b different from realm to realm influenced by what they have available n like. The culture n stuff around each place
votive offerings are just easter eggs for gods
ok so land on the ground below you, at some point you should spot a slab that was partially removed. secret pot
putting their peoples comfort first
<- thinking how there's gravestone lining the twins temple
some ancestor: Day likes pots, if I give Day a pot, will they like me?
the answer was yes
since we're on the topics of temples i have a question-
is there a lore reason for why only some temples have candles inside? like prairie and valley
Fun fact: based on the mural that lists the other realms’ temples that is located in Dawn’s temple, the entirety of Vault is Night’s temple
