i love the twins sm
okay that would be so cool

hi besties!
If the twins has a million fans i am one of them. If the twins has ten fans i am one of them. If the twins has one fan then that is me. If the twins have no fans that is because i am no more on the Earth. If the world is against the twins I am against the world. I love the twins until my last breath.
I am the twins
omg tac??? love your stuff on insta! it’s always a treat to see!
No
/lh
That was mena I’m sorry astral
explodes 🎉
Aa tyty!!

i am offended on behalf of somebody else !¡
valley is such a pretty realm, i think the twins may have done some terraforming in some parts ngl. i love them
thinks about citadel
YAYYAYAY
-the twins to the mountains-
Do the twins have names? I remember seeing somthing about that but i forgor 💀
Thinks about how the reason they play with us is probably to cheer us up because they know we have already been through a Lot emotionally by the time we reach them
Fannon names they do: like Samekh which is from concept art, many see
as Sah and
as Mekh but they also go by Sunset. Some devs refer to the elders by the time of day
sometimes we call them Sunset, sometimes others refer to them as Samekh from concept art, indivdiually
being Sah and
being Mekh
valley elders my meow meows, i shove them in my mouth
OUGHHHH

IVE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE. like what if some moths feel like its their job to complete the journey as soon as possible and then when in valley the twins are like. chill, and they throw you into fun races and play around
I LOVE THE TWINS HHRRRR
Thinks how the races are open to anyone imagine when competitions aren’t happening that the races can be open to the public for them to enjoy
ooh— question for the chat. mind sharing a HC you have for the twins?
I wrote a whole fic about mine, read it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/40284843
That Mekh gave Sah the crack on their mask :)
i hc what Alasdair wrote
they fight like they're in a waffle house sometimes
i’ll get you i’ll get you that comic of yours made me cry
I LOVE IR SO MUCH IRS SO GOOD IRS SO FOOD J LOVE IT RAAAAAAA
just now made the hc that they act as older siblings to our moth :)
skykid in the cutscene "can I get a waffle"
i think the twins like it when moths cosplay them, little guys
the twins: yeah sure one sec pauses violence to go make waffle
i like to think kakashi twin tended to play up how cool and in control they were, but if you asked them to order something from mcdonald’s they’d sob and ask their sibling do it for them
Real I was the cashier
just because they're elders doesn't mean I can't explode them with my mind if they take too long to order
be nice to your cashiers chat
i like 2 think thgat they have like the same voice n sometimes talk in unison n stuff at the same time n all
ooo what do they prophesise though
yeah please do :(
(former cashier for 3+ years)
one last silly: i think the spiky elder is often one to overthink. like, waking up their sibling at two in the morning to ask them if they still love them overthinking.
(currently a cashier)
what if they had really different natural voices and just trained to sound the same that would be really really funny
and someone hears them talking normaly and is like "what"
my twin and I do this thing where when someone asks us a question we'll both answer at the same time but also talk to each other while answering the person and it's very disorienting
which is to say samekh does this
putting this down here:
i like to think that ancestors that appear blue likely had very patterned, very colorful clothes— the Skykids just don’t quite focus on that.
i like to think the patterning would relate to age, job, familial relationships, and other such things. and to add onto that— i think different realms would prefer different hues, IE many citizens of the valley having warm red, orange, and yellow clothes, while those of the vault would have deep dusky blues, simple whites, and perhaps pretty greys…
YES YES!! I think @half zealot would enjoy this conversation
WHATI HUH HWAHRS HOLD ON I GOTTA READ
omg c bestie come here
YES
CORRECT, canon because I said so
sorry we cant hang out, you're wearing poor people yellow
CLASSISM?????!?!?!!!!!
Scrambles around, I had a similar idea
I JUST THOUGHT ITD BE A COOL REGIONAL THING 💔💔💔
like “ooh they’re wearing red— probably a valley boy. and look at the hills on their tunic… ooh, are they a racer? or maybe a miner?*”
i couldn’t respond for like 2 hours because I’m at school but let you’re just jealous you’ll never have my drip
😔
Can we ban this guy
DARK ART !!! still in love with this
unrelated- season trailer just dropped
you'll never have an ounce of my iconicity
WHERE
LEMME SEE
They showed the constellation for the season!! I think it’s super interesting how similar it is to Vault’s
another piece of evidence for the apprentice theory maybe?
im more excited about the fact that we see a projector being used again
vault enjoyers are winning rn
YEAH and projecting a person … oh this is gonna be heartbreaking
Memory lantern season!!
Also apprentice theory? /gen
rotating you with my mind (positive)
Vela’s theory that the guide was Night’s apprentice and graduated! Hence why they have a graduation stole patterned similar to Night’s also, kinda like how Flight guide has clothes similar to Day’s for the same reason!
i just remembered- i think i saw some people talk about people hiding in vault during the war? like a while ago. and that area does look kinda “hidden” and torn up so
Yeah! The introduction notes implies the remembrance spirits are war refugees, let me see if I can find it
from the teaser
oh that makes sense
I’ve seen like 10 different people who look exactly like you ever since yeti ts
"you can't outdo the doer" the doer in this case is me
HELP
Season symbol reveal…
LESSGOOO
WE SKNPEN A MEMORYCIVE
Also bold of u to call me copycat, who was the one dresses like a skytuber not less than a season ago
they are such a silly i love them
``Signs of the kingdom’s upheaval echo in the ruins you’ve seen while venturing through Sky. With Remembrance, we wanted to link these signs scattered throughout Golden Wasteland and prior Seasons to reveal more about a critical era in the kingdom’s history—one that has only been hinted at until now. Season of Remembrance returns to more intimate storytelling within the Vault of Knowledge, where four new Spirits have found shelter from the upheaval disrupting their lives in the kingdom they had known.
Through Seasonal Quests, Spirits share both their own emotional experiences of the turmoil in the kingdom, and memories of the tangible objects that connect them to what they lost. As a new element for this Season, help each Spirit by creating a Shared Space for them, so they can take their first steps to start anew. Create the Space using your own ideas, or visit Spaces created by other players to gather inspiration!``
Yaaaaa
I SWEAR TO GOD IF THAT SPIRIT IS THAT ANCESTORS DEAD FAMILY MEMBER I EILL CRY
I WANT TO JNOW EVERYTHING ABT THIS GEEZER
Omg what is the lil bells implied they were a chimesmith

GOD IM NOR READY BUT I AM AAAAAA
If Remembrance has million fans, then I'm one of them.
If Remembrance has one fan, then I'm THAT ONE.
If Remembrance has no fans, that means I'm dead.
the music in the trailer is not helping in the Not Crying situation
REAL
SAME CRIMSION THE INTO MADE ME:

BASED. If the world is against remembrance than I am against the world
REMEMBER AURORA SAID IT'S OKAY TO CRY

The music is SO GOOD i fell in love when they added it in Beta, trust me you will be sitting here taking the new area in
Oughhh
beta tester who knows how it goes: omg guys what will happen
( this is me i just like the hype with everyone else )
I’m so excited and scared cuz I’m not in beta
(I like to be surprised)
this is sortabthe vibe i got! or that the bells remind them of that person, i didnt get the vibe that person was literally there but a memory of them bc rememberance BUT ITS HARD TO SAY
Screaming crying passing out on the floor oh my gods
Like the memory lanterns were projecting thrm?
Oh my gof what if the memory lantern shows the ancestor a friend from their past cuz of how they reacted
maybe!
and YEAH, they were so shocked and i just OUGHHGH smth happened here…
season of sobbing and crying
also they’re projecting the vault diamond for the elevator
in the trailer
imagining the sky kids would be the reincarnation of the inhabitants who disappeared after being destroyed by the darkness which absorbed all their light, that's why before there was no sky kid may be
but suddenly who is the first sky kid and why is he so powerful?)
Hmm not really sure If they were powerful to begin with, maybe more of being chosen, also for clarifying are you suggesting skykids are reincarnation of ancestors?
yes I am for it to be a chosen one with the prophecy and everything, I mean the reincarnation of the former inhabitants of the celestial lands
I wonder if the celestial lands of sky were inhabited before or after there were sky kids
the ancestors, before they were spirits, inhabited the Sky kingdom, yea
so they was really able to manipulate the magic of light before, they are not beings of light but still natural beings with. you will notice that there are three type of boat in sky: the very first just before it colonized the sky land, those improve with the transport of goods across the kingdom (in path wind cinematic or in sanctuary) and the all new ones of our time that still work
I mean this sincerely, are you using a translator?
yeh 😂
ah okay, your messages are a little fumbly to understand but still decipherable
I know someone was looking out for types of boats at some point
Turns out that the one at the bottom of the trench in the Sanctuary Islands and the one in the Eden social area match !
exactly which makes it possible to situate the eras, that's what there are everywhere
(it was may be me lol i ask once, I wanted to know their road to Eden)
so since they have a part of lightlights in them, their soul can be seen that their spirit (made of light) this manifest on land in the form of memory but can she be sucked into the darkness? it would be their way to die and return to megabird, once their inner light is extinguished
the sky kid them what is strange is that the light of the sky kid is very resistant, only the broken diamond of eden can "kill" them before the king of sky comes to reanimate them in the the dark room
hi thatgamecompany YouTube
the war
ok
Had a thought.
I'm sure this isn't original but the eye of a storm is the part where everything is calm while the storm rages on outside
So, by that logic, is Eden the rest of sky?
Are sky's kingdoms paradise?
And if so, what does that mean for the rest of the world? Is the rest of the world similar to Eye of Eden and its shard events? Is our little paradise some sort of storm that's destroying what the world ought to be like?
beta players reading all these predictions

Also I wonder if this guy has just been trapped in the walls for like 3 years
I think the storm is mostly an image, it's not really a weather storm but an unstable diamond that sucks up light infinitely and explodes because of it, I think that the kingdom of sky is a celestial world created by megabird/god of light/aurora idk which was torn from the earth and floats in the sky thanks to the light it inhabits but since the diamond sucks the light from the kingdom and threatens to collapse it, the sky king lets it suck his huge amount of lights to maintain the kingdom and counts on the sky kids to bring back the stars/shiny boy in the sky(space)
Sky kingdom like we seen in aurora concert is a place for the inhabitants of the earth where they can escape the suffering of the world and live peacefully but it's not paradise, paradise would rather be space where the spirits, god of light and spirits lives
(it's just my point of view)
I have no idea what happens outside the kingdom we just know that people came from the outside world by boat (it seem that the hill at the beginning could have a far and that the coast looks like a port) we see with the first mind that sky kingdom is like a utopia for people. i don't think the diamond is wearing it to reach the whole world so no idea
since the season is still unreleased, that should stay in #beta-discussion
Apologies! I’ll move!
i'm sorry to ask but does someone have the poem for the elder memory from shattering? i'm at that memory right now trying to interpret what happened, like if the elders got killed in the explosion of the diamond they had something to do with (also please forgive me if this is common knowledge, i'm a relatively new player still :\ )
also i wonder why on top of the shard in the memory there's two winged lights hugging each other
all the shattering memories are in this channel’s pins!
@sharp lichen can you please not cold dm me? even if it relates to the lore question i asked? /lh
thanks salem
no problem! Slink is the one who compiled them, they’re the one you should be thanking!! 💛
what a lovely season trailer, i hope nothing tragic happened to these spirits
DON'T JYNX IT
teehee
The War
ok
i want to hold all of the spirits gentle like hamburger
Wait- what do they mean with "Unseen Fractures Crumble In The Chasm"??? Do they mean like, fractures in the diamond??? Or is more like, fractures in perhaps the m soul/mentality of the Eden Elder/corruption
fractures in the diamond, and/or fractures in the elders relationships with one another. There’s no evidence of the second event you’re talking about happening in the current iteration of the game
omg fractures in the elders' relationships with one another sounds so intense
It’s my favorite interpretation personally. I’d imagine that, at the very least because of The War, some of them distrusted each other quite a bit. I envision them as being super tense due to being near each other the entire time they were walking up to the diamond. But then it exploded and suddenly that didn’t matter anymore
and the war is speculated to be over the whole darkstone thing, right?
Darkstone technology, the pollution it created, and the exploitation it required
Yes but the "unseen" part specifically tickles something with me, as it implies that whatever resulted in the whole disaster happened unexpectedly from at least someones perspective. It implies inherent instability in the diamond itself, pointing to a structural weakness which might have been part of the reason for the Eden Explosion
Its a terrible, bad bad idea to have a structurally unsound battery of any kind, its very dangerous because of the energy stored in there
“Unseen”could be referring to the Elders’ relationships with each other cos something metaphysical like that isn’t tangible nor easily seen like a broken diamond
Personally I think it’s a sort of “overload”: the darkstone receives too much light and goes into an active state, like a circuit receiving higher voltage but with higher stakes. But it’s a really circunstancial theory
Again, the unseen fractures in the Eden Diamond definitely works as an interpretation also. It also implies really interesting things like, the diamond’s production was rushed and there wasn’t time to check it over hence why this happened in the first place
I think it could be both but either do work: broken bonds or broken diamond? Broken structures in both the Elders and Eden could not be immediately evident to an outside viewer
i remember when it came out my initial interpretation was similar to yours, that microscopic fissures or flaws in the diamond - potentially paralleling the faults in the Elders' relationships - had gone unnoticed until, under the strain of... everything, really... they suddenly started to show - but by then it was too late
i need to revisit my thoughts on the whole deal, i haven't spent a lot of time on them since the end of the season
IS UR NAME JYNX??? OH MY GOD
no my name is vanya
LOLLLL i just had a conversation the other day abt how my friends can't say jinx anymore cuz my name is Jynx 😭 they always say "ur jynxing" it
Nice to see that plushies (manta-shaped in particular) exist (I may or may not have heard of/seen/remembered any other plushies ingame)
At least the ancestors are getting something good after.. what happened looks at Eden
new season trailer got me so excited!!! i’m already in love with the music and i can’t wait for whatever bits of lore we get
oooh this scene reminded me of those big memory lanterns (?) projecting the aurora concert

i am vibrating with excitement over finally getting to see memory lanterns in action!!! cannot wait to see how they work and what they can do >:3
Hmm..
Memory cubes may be functional when projected to a diamond to present the memories within. Without the diamond it is just a beam of light (unless that is the objective, similar to the concert's memory cube stage lights)
my headcanon prior to now is that they operate kind of like holocrons from star wars, requiring whoever is trying to open them to manipulate their light in a particular way to unlock the seal and allow them to activate. i'm really excited to see how close or how far off my idea was!
so you're thinking they're kind of like projectors irl, with a diamond acting like the screen images are displayed on?
Yeah sort of like that
neat, that could definitely be it :3 i sorta got the impression that the diamond was being projected by the memory lantern, with maybe a scene playing out within it like an animated snowglobe? but i like this idea too!
hey lorechat do skykids sleep. like not out of physical need maybe just out of the !! nice feeling of eepy
When you idle for too long yes!
Skykids also snore
skykids probably don't need to sleep but they could to pass the time or if they doze off bored. even though they don't need it, I'd imagine they feel better, even well-rested, upon waking up
hey lore chat one of my friends asked me to do a powerpoint presentation on sky lore.
best of luck /gen
godspeed
You're doomed
Don't loose too many braincells (if you still have braincells that is)
hahaha i have enough braincells i just need to actually organize it! (also it's probly gonna be long)
And very confusing, best of luck
Has anyone figured what’s up with the different colored masks? Why do some have lighter and others have darker? Not counting performance masks because they’re wildly different compared to normal ones.
I sorta wonder if it’s either a realm thing or a time thing. Light before the war, dark after the war
i think i remember hearing that animal masks were a sign of great skill at something though i think the only confirmed one is that bird mask=skilled performer. other then that i don't know
Interesting. Then I would assume other mask decorations would also have some sort of significance
I also wonder why some in the Vault & Valley don’t wear masks at all. Or rather, why everyone else does. Is it a cultural thing? Do the materials in the realms determine the color of the masks? So many questions 😫
Do you think light creatures are scaled? 🤔
many of the vault spirits wear a tall hat like thing that likely has something to do with their status as scholars. even some of the past season spirits who are in vault have it like the wise grandparent and the shushing scholar. we can get something similar to it from one of the spirits
Pretty much, yeah! Confirmed via dev messages (ty Ash)
- #lore-discussion-spoilers message - animal masks relate to the jobs those spirits would have had. Performers being kinds of birds is especially common
- #lore-discussion-spoilers message - apprentices or students in a job using animal masks only have half-formed masks. They’ll get a full mask once they ‘graduate’
I don’t know if it means great skill so much as fully fledged in their occupation, though
Ash, one of the devs, said that animal masks entail certain jobs. they've also said that Rhythm guide had what could be said was a basic civilian mask. it's already been pointed out that Vault scholar's tall headdresses might pertain to their skill or academic status.
presumably we could could assume some flat masks are colored a certain way because of job, seeing that the lightseekers all have blue on white masks, and spirits with black and brown masks may not have a job, if any, that's significant enough to change the color of their masks. given that brown and black are the most common masks, I think they're that color due to the material they're made of.
I think it varies from light-creature to light-creature
If you count Skykids as light creatures, they aren't scaly (hopefully)
Birds are definitely not scaly, but feathery (something something bird anatomy)
Mantas I am not sure
Underwater light creatures, I believe that they are the ones who have scales (something something fish anatomy)
there's been a theory that ancestors with headdresses that match the Elder, like Dawn's boat mast to Rejecting Voyager, could've been apprentices, representatives, or at least in close proximity to Elders
Speaking of underwater light creatures
Why can't the turtle recharge light? Technical complications?
I was thinking it was something like that
Hey just a side note
Please don't ping Alasdair, it is said in their nickname
Ah didn’t realize replying was pinging 😬
There is an option to turn off pings while replying - hint, look at the very right of the box when replying
the turtle does emit green light every couple of hours. though as for why it doesn't passively recharge us like other birds and mantas could be the same reason whales and elder mantas don't – technical things, maybe. speculation though. I assume it's supposed to be a light creature that can exchange light mutually with us. or, perhaps cos of its shell, the turtle can't share light as freely as birds and mantas.
the flight guide is the apprentice to the prairie elder though, that was one of the random fun facts about them when they were teasing that season. #news message
I’ve always wondered if there’s a specific reason why most ancestors wear masks; there’s the very good point that maybe it’s just Something they Do, but part of me still wonders if there’s a connection within the world somewhere. My best guess, though, is that it’s a neat worldbuilding detail tossed in both to make the world feel more unique and also to make it so that the devs wouldn’t have to worry about attempting to render detailed faces on a mobile device
As for maskless ancestors, I noticed that they seem to be most common in Valley athletes, although they’re scattered throughout the realms. They might just be the result of spirits who temporarily took off their masks so they could breathe better while doing strenuous activity
yea, I know, I was there when those cards dropped. though the line is that Flight guide is the former apprentice to Day Elder, so the mask thing could be a difference between an active apprentice and an former one, who would no longer wear their Elder's mask.
Wonder what Flight Guide did to be a "former" apprentice of Day
i assumed it was worded like that since the spirits and the elders are no longer alive though that is kind of dark
Could just have graduated! We aren’t sure…
edit: or died
they could've parted on good terms. I'd imagine by establishing the Wind Paths, Flight guide gained Day Elder's blessing to make it.
Ohh and here I thought they kidnapped a bunch of light creatures and Day fired them from their realm or something like that
flight guide releasing 1948353 birds into forest temple
yea I can see that
There is one possibility for why they might’ve left on bad terms, though.
I can get really deep into explaining all the evidence and symbolism behind this because it’s a Lot, but Day is heavily implied to dislike the darkstone industry but never takes a firm stance against it — in fact, they support it by supplying some of the creatures whose deaths were necessary to charge darkstone. Compare that to Flight guide, who quite obviously abhors darkstone so much that not a single piece of it is allowed in the wind paths — they even got builder to make a kind of boat that didn’t require it at all! — and you can see where the split might have occured
in which inaction is its own form of violence
Yeah!!
why do they go to forest tho
there was a theory during the season that by establishing the wind paths, Flight guide would make a route for migratory light creatures to circumvent Forest and evade capture for refineries
Multiple possible reasons for that;
- what alasdair stated above
- they’re from forest and so it’s the realm they most wanted to help out. Forest is absolutely messed up from darkstone mining and production, so it’d make sense that growing up surrounded by that would fuel an intense passion to change it.
- The wind paths connected to all realms and so was the most convenient location for them to do what they wanted to do
There’s a lot of explanations you can pick that would make sense, so it honestly just depends on what you want
That makes sense
thanks but please don't ping me /nm
i've been wondering this for a while but what exactly is mega bird and where does that name come from? i know that they are like the god of the sky world or the source of all the light but i have no idea where that theory comes from.
Megabird is the so-called god of Sky, may or may not be analogous to the Light, a huge amalgamation of light and light beings in space, hardly seen in game aside from when descending from Orbit after the end credits (first image). the name Megabird comes from Tom Zhao's concept art (second image) who depicts Megabird as light itself.
a lot of how you could characterize Megabird is really up to you since Megabird is rather hands-off in-game as far as we can tell. a lot think Aurora's voice singing during ascension, Orbit, the end credits, and upon entering Isle is Megabird's voice but that's also debatable.
that's actually pretty interesting! where can i find more of the concept art? (not just of mega bird)
Zhao's concept art is found on his website here: https://www.tomzhao.com/sky1
other concept art, like from other developers or for seasons, are scattered across the Internet, you can find some under thatskygame.com news releases.
Sorry I only just saw your name haha won’t happen again
I'm not sure if this is lore but it's a theory??? It's not exactly a theory that affects much in the way of lore but I was thinking, what if skykids are just little unicellular organisms? Like, it doesn't seem like they have mouths or noses, and whether or not they have eyes is debatable, since even if they do have eyes, they seem to always be closed. But we see them eat, how do they do that?
I think like unicellular organisms, they'd just absorb their sustenance through their cell wall (the cell wall being the exterior of the skid) they also absorb the winged light in order to make themselves stronger, essentially, much like a cell absorbing another smaller cell.
Also! They group together (holding hands/piggybacking) like social amoebas! Like, a bunch of them group together to make one larger multicelled organism. :]
It's kinda a silly goofy little idea.
wait i kinda love this.. single celled organisms not a single thought in their brain <3 kinda explains why theyre all the same at the base ? i guess idk what im saying TwT also forgive my memory coz its been forever since ive played but when have we seen sky kids eat? :o /genq
Are you a pea? Cause you're the only vitamin I C 🟢
Skykids don't (necessarily) eat, they just absorb light/food
They slurp marshmallows into their faces
Y’all have ruined sky kids for me 😂 scary 😆
Omg…
I think its interesting that the Performance Guide and the Rhythm Guide are twins, as it implies that the Ancestors had familial structures. Did they then also have parents? Cousins?
there is one spirit in the ice rink that is shown with a smaller one, which looks a lot like a parent and their kid or bigger and younger sibling
in the runaway spirit memory you can see what is most surely a mother and her child
I'm not sure of in season of dreams, the guide is meant to be the mother of or the grown up skater herself
A "moth" is a new player. They have brown wings, they flap around uncontrollably, and they are drawn to flame!
oh, and the new season's art also shows what seems to be a mother and her child
so they most definitely had families
Didn’t one lose their kids ?
See this implies they had families pleaful parent
Sorry I wrote pleading instead of pleaful I confused with those words lmao
aight so, hello lore chat i dont come here often but i was thinking: if this broken building is intentional and jts been floating like that forever, and orrery originally makes us sky kids fly high easily . Then there must be a less-gravity thing going on in this area right
….
Any lore or explanation for this? Such as it’s actually an area really high up in the clouds higher than the rest of valley? Or som gravity bending thing idk science 😳
My theory for that is that as seen in the cave of prophecy murals, valley got the element of air so their buildings could float. Also I believe that the citadel grants us light by just being there because of it's many gold circle thingies, I believe they are some sort of mechanisms that channel the light of the sun so the light creatures in the area can fly continuously, probably used in the manta races from the Warrior of love memory
Also I know that other areas have the same feature as the citadel, where you gradually recharge light by being in the area. rn I can just remember Bird Nest in praire, and I believe that happens there because of the many birds and light creatures in the place but I'm not sure. If you remember any other areas with this feature pls let me know
Wind paths!
Orbit?
What realms got the other elements?
Hmm that’s interesting they don’t have any visible scales from what I have seen apart from big whale they kind of look like very very delicate flesh to me with those little gold armoured bits
Praire got earth, forest water and wasteland fire
See the whales kind of looks like they has scales and the sky whales head looks armoured but why not gold like the other creatures?
Oh I see that’s intriguing 🧐 wasteland doesn’t have much fire from what I have seen maybe because it’s polluted XD are you aware of how it became polluted? I have read that it was mining and stuff but I have only just got into the lore I always thought it would be boring but nope I absolutely love it
From the murals in cave of prophecies I think they use the fire for the warfare, you cin the murals the towers you see around wasteland with a red dot at the top, probably because they shooted fire or something, as seen in the concept art
that would line up with the falling/exploding light we can see in the Aurora concert in the battlefield
About the polution in wasteland, it's pretty much darkness because it drains our light.
What I'm about to say now is kinda obscure so be warned. It's pretty much confirmed that the ancestors used light creatures to power up the power diamonds (the blue diamonds that we use to open doors and activate mechanisms).
To do so they needed light to turn on the diamonds, just like we use our candles, so they used the light from light creatures killing them in machines, taking just their light and leaving behind the remains. The facilities where they did this are in the temple of Forest (where they also mined diamonds) and the sunken lab in Abyss (where they trapped light creatures). Also Wasteland is a whole factory and the same machinery seen in Forest can be seen where the first krill is, but it's broken. All the pipelines were probably used to filtrate the remains of drain light creatures, aka the black goo, contaminating the water.
It's also theorised that the rain in Forest is contaminated because of this, maybe the darkness liquid remains of the light creatures evaporated and became rain
Do you think maybe that the creatures of dark like krill and crabs are the remains of the creatures of the light manifested into something dark to take revenge because they have no light left in them they aren’t joyful just vengeful and that’s why the krill’s light doesn’t recharge my cape
My personal theory about krills is that they are some sort of biological weapon that the ancestors created to hunt light creatures. Their "eye" is a power diamond (they share the same blue color, and it turns red just like power diamond when they are overcharged), and they were originally created maybe from remains of other light creatures.
About crabs, they are a mystery sjakndksbs
my theory about the crabs is that they are corrupted by pollution since the only crabs that attack you are covered in black ash similar to what falls off of the krill. friendly crabs don't have that
Heyyy that actually makes sense
Would actually love to see a non corrupted krill flying around maybe IN A future season MAYBEEE
TGC did say time will tell
That actually makes sense
Do you have somewhere I can read about that I wanna see too hahaha
What if the whales are krills before they were corrupted
Or just because of nothing
Wowza, that's a popular one.
WHY DOES THIS EXIST.

Experiments, probably idk
I always thought the fluffy worm thing was an uncorrupted krill. Like the one from the forest cave
That thing in the abyss area is the mega krill.
What it’s called however, varies from person to person.
His name is Henry /headcanon
the whale?
honestly, that thing looks like something inbetween a whale and krill
might be a corrupted whale before it desiccated and turned into a krill?
or perhaps this is what corrupted whales actually look like and the krill are something else
Resident evil x sky lookin fella
I like that theory idk what else it could be
maybe theres different whale species that have different corruption looks
nah, that big fellas name is GEORGE
or horhay
Can someone help explain how Tsadi's name got mistranslated as Caleb long before?
where/when was this? it's definitely something before my time so I don't know about it
I don't know, but I vaguely remember someone telling me that this was back when the fandom started getting the names of the elders from the concept art, and oddly somehow Tsadi's name got turned into Caleb and Daleth's name got turned into Alef (and the Twin Elder names confusion)
We have all these Hebrew letters and suddenly there's a Caleb pff
You can try searching on google too, some old search results as "Caleb elder hair sky" and so on
hm... my best guess is that it's just jank with language of origin vs. language of use
Dunno if you can see this but it's the table behind the 4 player door on the first level (candle cake underneath the table).
The chair at the top has been knocked over whereas the other chairs are upright. Maybe each chair represents an elder as there are 6 realms and 6 chairs. So either 1 elder disagreed with the others and stood up to walk away and knocked over the chair?
Let me know your theories 🙂
Rip the twin that wasn’t invited
On a more serious note, do you have any particular leaning on who you think it was?
maybe the twins weren’t always 2
I mean there’s also the idea that it’s just symbolic
dawn, they’re the only one not on the Eden portal
I think that’s a remnant of older builds or something? Or I made that up idk tbh
I like this, i visiting it when i have nothing to do and swim with him:"D
Comically large beast
HE SCARED ME SO BAD
I scared my friend as hell , friend was screaming when he appeared😭
hey can someone explain the thing about the prince and the king? I know the king is supposed to be the figure in murals and stuff that has a bit of a star shape on their head and they might be the figure in the eden constellation. but how do we know that? also who is the prince? i don't get that
the prince and king only really appear in concept art iirc
The Elders (plus the king & prince) have names based off Hebrew letters from concept development that are no longer canon, though the fandom sometimes refers to them as such:
Isle – Daleth (ד)
Prairie – Ayin (ע)
Forest – Teth (ט)
Valley – Samekh (ס) (they share a name, though the fandom refers toas Sah and
as Mekh)
Wasteland – Tsadi (צ)
Vault – Lamed (ל)
Prince – Alef (א)
King – Resh (ר)Though it seems the devs refer to the Elders by the times of day their realms represent:
Isle – Dawn
Prairie – Day
Forest – Rain
Valley – Sunset
Wasteland – Dusk
Vault – Night
Eden — Storm
this doesn't really say anything about where Caleb would've came from tho
I’ve never heard of the mistranslation, and the idea of Dusk’s name being Caleb is killing me. Thank you so much for this
Ah yes: Dawn, Day, Rain, Sunset, Caleb, and Night
Looking it up, I see that they’ve been called Caleb a few times here, in 2019-2020. I’m not sure where that came from, though, and I don’t have much time now to track it down
You are freaking elders of your realms, plus… Caleb /ref
concept art link: https://www.tomzhao.com/sky1
This is so funny to me just— Caleb
You got all the other fannon and concept names and somehow Caleb
This is bringing me back when Alef and Daleth are used for Samekh somhow
Coincidentally, when I looked up Caleb here, those names were listed for Sunset too? Seems like the same mistranslation happened there
Are they ALL Caleb? Is this the piece of puzzle we’ve been missing? Their true name? /j
Caleb…
maybe the real Caleb was the friends we made along the way
Aw it does fit with dusk tho imo
I see dusk as a very loyal person, puts themselves second always
I've looked through MANY concept art pieces on Tom Zhao's website, and I can explain the prince thing! The prince and the king are the same person, but the prince became corrupted likely due to dark stone (aka what the eden crystal is made out of I'm pretty sure)
it is worth noting that concept art is not necessarily canon to the game of sky and so theories based only on concept art may not have much of any traction
Yes! That's true, but it's all we have to go off of right now. I'm not saying it's right, but it's something at least.
It’s often thought that the prince and king could be the same person, just at different points in time; With theories that the prince is the child present in stargazers memory, and in the Prophecy murals, but it’s hard too say anything concrete about them though due to their mystery and ambiguity, it’s commonly thought that they are the figure present in the eden mural and constellation through concept art and the fact there’s no one else like them character design wise, leading people to connect the two, i put a lot of think/theory bc they’re very ambiguous since tgc plays coy with them, shattering q6 may include them/has their imagery but it’s very abstract so it’s hard to say
yeah, there's some stuff that definitely made it to the end product and a lot more that didn't. i'm curious as to how much concept stuff could be reincorporated as time goes on
concept art backstory timeline
https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5cf9836e9d1c5200018df596/1582059389689-8VVFCJVTZVFNN20KLTL6/133b_Sky.jpg
a good chunk of this did not make it into the game. but this explains the role the prince/king would've played
Yaya, it’s interesting to look of what sky could’ve been, and while some things do make it into the game from previous concept art nothing is confirmed. Outside concept art there’s no much stuff to off of
Like the wasteland turrets, in my hc I believe it can happen but without any cues from the game it’s really only wishful thinking and speculation
what i want to know is:
if the prince/king is absent from the game in the concept art form, why do we still have the king's silhouette/motif so omnipresent in the architecture of sky? is it just residual, or does it mean something?
Could be remnants of history, like exploring ancient city’s and seeing statues of figures you aren’t quite sure of. Sure it’s possible they could’ve existed and played a big role, but to our sky-kids with no knowledge they’re just a figure
and this relief for the concept art of isle temple didn't change in the end...
idk i feel like the king is still out there somehow but we haven't gotten anything beyond pointy icons.
I think with shattering quest 6 being any indication, they might be long gone which is why they’re only present in imagery and not exactly in person normally like the other elders
when will they come back from the horrors
we might get more of them from the upcoming animation project of when they were younger, but a lot of that is up in the air (when will the animation project come back from ?????)
I agree, to me they’re role could’ve been important sure, if the eden mural gave some clues but I’m still unsure if it’s them. But we only have a vague understanding of them in cannon I feel like it’ll stay that way for a long time
If we do get more content I feel like it won’t be a sole focus in them, as sky tends to tell the story’s of many ancestors all at once and the history of it. Every quest never focuses on one individual fully, it’s told alongside others if that makes sence
Do you think the king/prince would be friends with the beast in the abyss
Pure headcannon but i can see them having a fascination with all the creatures, like I think deep sea creatures are cool. Wouldn’t say their friends tho since there’s no hints of that even being the case
Just some lad who likes creatures really
prince vc: what a weird dog
Ah yes, me and this weird 50ft dog
No more bringing the dog to dinner
@scarlet forge did ya look here? 😊
In Asian sky fandoms, Alef is Sah, Daleth is Mek
Seeing these prairie butterflies jar in forest arts kinda odd to me, any ideas? ||im interested in y’all lore and I cannot make good lores lol 😔 ||
maybe they were shipping the butterflies across lands to help with light energy? since u can hold and release a call to have the butterflies boost you, maybe this is how they got all across the map
they could have been transporting them to refineries to be turned into darkstone as well
I doubt that the ancestors could boost with the butterflies. If they could, then we probably would have seen them make use of that more. It seems that that’s a ability unique to skykids.
fair🤔 but some ancestors have wings like sky kids do
they have capes, the fact that they have a wing might just be spaghetti code
I think it is a bug, since spirits that didn’t have a wing previously now have a wing. The little Prince has a wing, when during his season through to abyss, I believe he didn’t have a wing
Yes, the spirits didn’t always have a wing like they do now, and we’ve yet to see them actually use their capes to fly, so it’s possible that they’re simply decorative for them instead
They also seem to use light creatures for transport, as if flight isn’t an option for themselves
ohhh i see
Also that spirit in Aurora that slipped off a manta and fell like a rock despite having a cape implies they can't fly with it
I mean, all of the spirits with cape I saw had 1 wing light
But grandma had 5 buffs (I 4 of them were used or maybe all )
Still a bug, probably even more spaghetti code
i mean despite the fact that it could just be a bug theres also spirits that offer their capes like the teal one and the purple one in the forest 🤔 maybe they didn't use the butterflies cause i doubt they had winged light but maybe they used their wings to glide from place to place
I think they were capes in the literal sense to the spirits
yeah ^^ plus the transition from hidden forest to valley is one of just gliding
For us. Ancestors could’ve used boats
I think their favorite light creature would be birds (logs off and refuses to elaborate)
I might've phrased this poorly - I was going to say they were more like cloaks
I think that’s just result of the clouds covering the other land so skykids wouldn’t get confused on where to go, the jump off from prarie social space has a few spikes of buildings popping up and I just think a lot of the kingdom is hidden by the cloirs
Plus areas like wind paths used to be hidden but they aren’t anymore
Just the thought of what things could be lurking beneath or beyond the clouds is so fascinating to imagine though
I think Alasdair suggested that the clouds could’ve been from eden exploding, which I think checks out as.
He also pointed out that during shattering we didn’t get a new seasonal area until remembrance which could be since the mountain got unstable, doing mini explosions and pushing the clouds back
We know whales can traverse through the clouds like the one that appears in Forest Caverns, between Valley Elder(s) temple and Wasteland social space, and during ascension
Ya I think for skykids they’re just lighter than clouds for how they can fly and float instead of falling quickly hence maybe why they can’t pass through fully, maybe for ancestors clouds are just what clouds are to us
Oh that makes me think that the Shattering eruptions could’ve caused earthquakes in the Vault and that’s how the Remembrance area is discovered.
(I feel like I just rephrased what you said •_•)
Same brainwave, just multiplying🤝
Oo that could work since vault is right next to eden, and there seems to be a distant shockwave of air after a shard
True true and interesting observations
I’ll be wishing for whale powers
But yea I believe the Eden Storm generates the massive cloudcover we see around the world. As the Storm weakens, the clouds recede, also unveiling new areas like Sanctuary Islands, Dreams Village, and Village Theater
Makes sense! It also parallels the way that the clouds recede on the map whenever we unlock a new part of it
I dunno if I asked this question yet bjt are there any angsty/sinister areas in Valley? Till now it seems like it was mostly a region of sports and entertainment
Check out the catacombs in Sunset’s temple
Hi sunset
The catacombs
Ok
The what now-
In the Valley temple there’s an area off the the left side upon entering
It’s the one place where we can find both dark plants and crabs in the Valley of Triumph, if I remember correctly !
Sparkler Parent’s spirit memories begin there
Ah, I still have to do that quest so I guess I know what I'm doing next after finishing Rememberance
There isn’t any quests needed to access that particular location though, so you should be able to visit it whenever you like
(Quests from seasons I should say
) Spirit-wise, there is a gate to pass through
If you are clever you can fly up to the catacombs exit and make your way to the start, avoiding the gate entirely
There is a spirit gate, you need to have found so many spirits from Valley to access it from the bottom but there’s a way to enter from higher in the wall
first spirit card !!!!
live reaction of me reading the spirit card:
Screaming
AUGHHHHH

We have spirit character cards… nature is healing…
I MISSED CHARATER CARDS BUT ALSO THAT SPIRIT IN THE TRAILER IS DEFINITELY THEIR KID AUGHHHHH
i am,,,in shambles
THE CANE TOO
Headcanon that Bereft Veteran is connected to Bumbling Boatswain in some way
Wait this screws with my DFT timeline, oh gods
Real
AUGH since they’re also called veteran I have a sinking feeling the wasteland war was not just a simple few years long
You can be a veteran of a war that took place a short time ago
Ah alrighty, my knowledge on military positions is scarce so I wasn’t sure
Damn they probably injured themselves because of the cane and had to retire possibly ;-;
Or they’re old. Granted they prob look unkempt cos they are, which can make one look older
True true, could be any of those things, I hope we get insight on what happened to them :(
Wants to just sit quietly listening to the wind blow around them
The feathers…

SPIRITS WITH CANES !!! SPIRITS WITH CRUTCHES !!! i love them
They have a cane! oh my gods
old man w
NOOO im adopting them, i'll get them a blanket and something warm to drink, we can talk about anything they want
Did they or their son die like that? Like was taken from each-other cuz of the war?

STOOOPAIASDGSIFHFG
i'd lay down my life for them
they are so amazing 🤍 love
OUGHHH

What does this dude give?
Music sheets but better to ask this in #questions-and-help in the future
new memory uhhh things gumbers in vault i think!!! yay ((lorechat do your think. Belle posting will continue soon i promise))
That’s the entrance to the Remembrance seasonal area
Yesss eggsactly
Love 🫶
i can't wait tbh this is!! autism going wild i swear y'all
ME TOO
eating the cubes
I know that a lot of stress also makes you look older so :(
Although if the person projected by the lantern is their kid, I’d assume they are older anyways
Guys we've been blessed with OLD MAN!
We’re getting sad over them, just so many implications of what happened to them and their kid💔
May I hear some of the theories? I have my own but I like others too :)
Also the old man me fr I like the wind
the war
ok /ref
I know the war you silly
I totally believe the spirit coming from the memory cube in the trailer is their kid I’ll be shocked if it isn’t
Also thinking about this too
What if their kid is from flight? Since the feathers. But I think it's more reasonable to assume it's in the trailer
This makes my heart swell. Like..

Just picturing this spirit going to fight for what they believe and by the time they returns, there isn't anything left 🥲
It depends on what he believed. I'm curious about that, and what side they were on. Altogether actually
thinking that even if they knew someone from the Flight crew, the memory cube could be a projection of an younger self if Veteran and their son had been separated for a long time.
Thats so heartbreaking maaan
hey, don't ping me /nm
Sorry it's auto turned on for replies
I was actually thinking that too somwhat, there’s a lil chime set in the trailer that reminded me of flight, they originally could’ve been from Prairie maybe but we gotta wait and see
Plus the info of them being surprisingly handy at fixing things, I immediately thought of chimesmith at that
you can turn it off
I know but it's not like I have it off for everyone. It also doesn't remain off so it was an accident
Damn now I’m thinking of them being a chimesmith or somebody that built boats before the war
I see them as an inventor personally, something about the good at fixing things and riddles hints made me think that
grandpa potts
Oo yaya that too, oo what about a restorer
Is it just me or are these memory cubes facing the wrong way…,.,,
Inventor.. who else was an inventor in sky? The flight people! !
Idk much but that looks like beta so maybe delete that
Oh my god sorry I’m silly (haven’t updated yet, apologies
)
No its live
update dropped today
there are lots of potential inventors in sky - chimesmiths, bellmakers, builders and shipwrights and boatswains and probably vault scholars too
I like to think the remembrance spirits are refugees from the Wasteland side of Golden Valley; if they were from prairie or forest, there would be no reason for them to head to vault to shelter in the first place. It’s too far away, and to be honest, vault is the kind of place you’d only shelter in out of desperation
Who are the important ones most likely
Yay fair enough
That does seem true yeah. The war maybe invaded their home space and they got pushed back
support your local libraries chat
part of what's different about Sky from a lot of other games is that all the characters are important - they're just people living their lives, but that doesn't make any of them less central to the story or our understanding of what the world is or how it came to be this way
I meant the important inventors that could be linked to the old guy lol. You valid though
Maybe that's how they work? Inner mechanisms necessary to project the shared space
So far there’s no evidence that they’re linked to everyone ese, not even sure if they’re an inventor in cannon but it’s interesting to think that’s what they could’ve been
I'm going to kidnap the kid in Rememberance you can't stop me im taking their plush too
wasteland side of the golden valley?
Maybe, but normally they face with the diamond inward so that they project filtered(?) light into the bigger diamond
Thats what theories are for
we are discussing who might be his son
Also ur good dw
im playing another game rn so sorry for slow response
now im thinking maybe that's why there's a lot of tombstones in that one area in vault
On the offical Twitter when sharing concept art and development of the realms, the tweet about valley said said “Golden Valley was the downtown to sky” if i recall, and with golden wasteland definitely having another name (I doubt they’re always called wasteland) they could’ve been known as golden valley
Golden wasteland, or valley back then def had a lot of development and buildings is my assumption, got covered by sand and war maybe
do u have a link for that or keywords that i can search on their twt?
I think it’s a memorial site, or a graveyard for fellow scholars
I have a screenshot from one of my early theories lemme find
oooh tru tru
Ignore the wasteland pics but here’s the tweet
ooh it's the 7 days thingy!! i think i saw that on the wiki before i will check it again. thank u!
There’s also gravestones everywhere, seen to be in all social spaces and in valley mostly (races and temple)
I’d like to think since spirts are a thing and that we have to ascend them at the temple, I think ancestors saw death as another milestone in their life, and know it’ll happen. Death to them is not a grievance because they can always come visit their family, I’d like to think seeing gravestones all around sky is a normal thing, I can see them being buried where they please
The graves in vault could either be scholars wishing to be buried there when they pass or going with remembrance, it also could’ve been their final resting place :(
For example hermit during feast and TS’s decend from the sky, so they’re not permanently stuck in orbit
I wonder how exactly vault elevator work if there are skykids live in there? I like to keep the artificial star floors in my own AU but it can be annoying to move downstairs.
when i first started the game i thought they were just normal stones then i saw running wayfarer memory
I’d think it was possible to make it go down in theory but with game mechanics I think it just keeps going up (and to push out skykids along)
I think I’ll start playing again for rememberance, I want that hair. Also I only saw like 2 seconds of the trailer but it looks neat
ok so im reading the 7 days of sky stuff, can we treat the info they gave here as canon or is it like the tom zhao concept art?
Like concept art most likely! Based on the phrasing it very much seems like in development stuff for the most part
hey guys someone posted animation tests for Light Awaits
https://youtu.be/FymU6M33Iaw
who are you
ancestor?
fyi this showed up in my recommended vids and i got curious, it's possible it's not the animator that made these
there's been a lot of light awaits popping up on yt lately
Yea but that was during the early days, some who stuck with those names are usually those who didn't know about the name update
LORECHAT QUICK SOMEONE SAID THIS AND NOW I CANNOT UNTHINK IT I NEED ANSWERS
Both emit sound, probably same technology/magic
please don't treat us like a Google we are not a Google we are a people
Thinking this is an unused cutscene that would appear at the end of a spirit memory
WE COULDVE HAD HIGH WUALITY ANCESTOR CUTSCENES AUGHHHHH
IK WE HAVE THEM INGAME BUT NOT LIKE CUTSCENES YAKNOW?
LIKE WITH VERY POLISHED ANIMATION AND STUFF
I- i need them
i love the light awaits stuff but it also makes me sad to see what stuff didn't make it that i really liked
Gosh the floating disk aiahgwjwbsb

Goes insane
im just vibing here bro
Your ruining my vibe of enjoying uncoloured twins
wow, I love this!
💖

no
I will chew you and spit you back out.
This bot hates gay people
I love that the crack on their mask is so visible here I love it I love it
I CANT believe it, i CANT believe skybot hates gay people
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
The flowers in sky look like they're made of light, but what about the grass and trees?!
Oh old bird whisperer
|| that kinda explain the early beta version of the seed||
Wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy?
Is this a homophobic allegory
Not surprised
Can skybot be manually use to send messages or it just randomly mess with ppl
They HATE Sah and gay people can’t believe this era we live in
Y'all are making me wish I could go back in time to be in light awaits I never was there please it hurts
Two of them.
I like to randomly think about the Flight Guide. I wonder how the people of the Season of Flight met their end. Was it the explosion? Or were they cut off from resources because of the fall of the kingdom? Or was it because they could no longer leave because the animals were either corrupted and panicking. It depresses me to think that they were unable to go to each other and that they were stuck on their own islands in isolation because the boat was broken and swept away because of something.
i love that there's a difference between the way they stand, it's a small thing but gives them more personality
TWO OF THEM
Oh god there are shrimps for the elders now /j
AUGH yeah i wonder that too, I think it’s interesting to imagine few survived the initial explosion but not for long
Like an atomic bomb?
Sometimes people just enjoy a character, no reason to make it weird
YEAH YOU GET IT!!! I LOVE MEDIA THAT MAKES TWIN CHARATERS THEIR OWN AND NOT CARBON COPIES PERSONALITY WISE
twins my beloveds
they are very polite ❤️
Just imagine how scary that's gotta be... All of your friends... All of humanity knowing that death is imminent, only able to hug eachother as the darkness swallows them...
GUYS SPEAKING OF HUGS I HAVE A THEORY well it's not my theory but still I'd like to point out how the winged light at the elder memory are hugging eachother like how the kiddins hug in eden
Have have them polite when it’s a serious and important matter and then you also got them fighting over the light
Should I make a list of everything pre darkness, during darkness, and post darkness?
I feel like it’ll be alot of work, to me it seems certian areas in the same realm are a mix
are you talking about, like, a timeline of the kingdom leading up to and through the disaster? you're more than welcome to take a shot at it - many of us have our own ideas - but it'd be a major undertaking
they're smart when it comes to professional situations- but also silly. and i love them <3
THIS THIS i love the twins so much
YALL GET ME!! SAME BRAINWAVE
in some ways i feel like Sunset really captures what adulthood can be under the best circumstances - you're grown up and have responsibilities now, but you're still the same unhinged goofball you've always been
YES brb will grab writing excerpt
So true 🤝🤝🤝
adulthood is about slipping and sliding around on snow and ice yippee yay
spins the twins in my brain. you can make an hyperfixation out of this
tac is the perfect example of this /lh
Are we talking about the meaning of the realms?
twins are best elders change my mind
damn it nevermind i cant find it 😔
sometimes i imagine the twins doing manta races with the people from the valley or them doing performances with the theater kids
Silence /lh
ok but
i blame tacs insta stories for making me think about the twins so much
how can you not love the silly
we gotta go DEEPER
i wasn't talking about that specifically, although Sunset/Valley is associated with young adulthood yeah - i was more musing on my experience of reaching the point in adulthood where i thought i'd be "grown up" and feeling basically the same as i always have
Yea oh my god I can see them letting them win
Or try to I see Sah being a try hard 💀
Listen I like Isle but he sus cause Flight
Throws them into the snow
WHAAATTT
isle would prob have such good stories n advice to tell i want to sit on a porch with them n just talk
The isle spirits- Unspecified, but likely pre darkness
The prairie spirits- pre darkness
The forest spirits- The rain appears to exist before the darknes so pre darkness - during darkness
The valley spirits- Appear to be pre darkness
Wasteland spirits- Appear to be during the darkness
Vault spirits- Unspecified
- Very early, as they don't use darkstone powered machinery (or they were the sky equivalent of Amish)
- Post darkness, as the spirit memories show krills in the water and the water level is the same in the memories as it is now.
- Either during darkness or post darkness
- Really unclear, but most likely really early in the timeline.
I like the way you think!
AUGHHH TY

I don't think anyone asked
wh
Got em
-does a big think-
skybot is more active than usual here 😆
i love all the elders so much i want more content of them
do you ever just go visit them oob because they
petition to take the geezers (especially dawn and bereft veteran) on a field trip to sanctuary islands or the wind paths
Oh crap did I say something offensive aaa
IMMEDIATELY SIGNED
Skybot we love you, don’t listen to them
Abyss my beloved
No need for that.
YES I WANT MORE WLDER CONTENT I WANNA KNOW WHAT THEIR CHARATERS ARE LIKE
i want 2 gnaw on the elders cmon give us more crumbs on em im starving tgc please please please pl
i read this as wilder content and i was like
POV: they add a Naruto cape :
Some spirit cutscenes aren't even cutscenes they're just
Spirit:
Skykid:
Spirit: a s c e n d
I’ll take a mural painting I just want SOMTHING
anyways back to lurking i go
i just have Won't shut up about the elders disease
would kill a man for those elder zodiacs like we have for some ts im still shaking that box of reeses pieces n collection of coins n stuff as an offer in exchange for them
give us elders interacting with their people!!!
If the twins aren’t Gemini I will be
They look like they’re about to tell u they missed the bus
YES I WANT THAT SO BAD
MEAN TO THEM LET
Wake up DUSK.
We just missed the Bus (epic guitar rift as Dusk rides a whale to take the twins to school)
on one hand elder zodiacs = crumbs of personality n what they’re like similar to ts
on the other. Trollsona unlocked (evil)
okay but the
quest has you free light creatures from the arriving darkness
so i'd say they may have found their end during darkness, cut off from the outside world because the wind paths closed up somehow
Saving this thank you
EXPLOSIÓN upon ye 💥💥💥

I have actually been thinking about Sky’s timeline quite a bit! I ended up coming to the conclusion, based on various things, that
1] every spirit memory we see takes place after the darkness came (it got slowly worse over time before the explosion, but was present for a while)
2] Every spirit lived at roughly the same time.
How I figured this out was thanks to the first four seasons, which were an absolute godsend for timelining things. Many spirits from the first four seasons interact with spirits both in their basegame realm and from other seasons — for example, Confident Sightseer and Leaping Dancer both show up in Twirl’s memory — and, operating under the (almost definitely correct) assumption that every spirit from the first four seasons was alive at the same time, this also means that every basegame spirit and every spirit from those first four seasons were all alive at the same time.
From there you can slowly work outwards. For example;
Performance and Rhythm are twins, so performance was in that group too.
Assembly has a connection to lightseekers, meaning it either ‘took place’ at the same time or after.
Every Flight spirit is confirmed to have connections to other ancestors; we don’t know who yet, but even if just one of them is basegame, they’re included too. We also know from chsracter cards they work closely with the Sanctuary folks which means they’re included also.
Dreams includes a gratitude spirit in Hermit’s memory and so is also included.
We do have some seasons left after this, but I’m running out of space and so will get to them in my next message. Can provide sources if necessary
From here, these are the seasons we have left:
- Enchantment
- Prophecy
- Abyss
- TLP
- Aurora
All the AURORA spirits seem to know each other, and several basegame spirits show up during various Aurora memories. We can assume the AURORA stories took place in roughly the same timeline as well.
TLP I’m not even going to try to timeline. It seems to be a season more based on symbolism than actual literal Sky events. However, if we absolutely wanted to, several basegame spirits show up in Slouch’s memories, and so they fit as well.
So finally, we are left with enchantment, prophecy, and abyss.
That's beautifully explained omg!!
I have to completely agree with you, your facts are very compelling 💖💖
That's a really awesome breakdown, thanks for sharing!!
perpetually in awe of Catlem's timelining skills/ability to tie disparate pieces of information into a unified concept
Enchantment and Abyss are hard to work with, because due to their location and stories, they’re super isolated. If they both took place during the same time, we can’t use any spirit connections to timeline them.
However, as Wasteland seasons, they are heavily influenced by the darkness. Abyss takes place in the ruins of an old refinery overrun by corrupted creatures. Enchantment is shipwrecked because of an unexpected Wasteland storm; they also knew about the krill close by as they painted it on their ark. They also had to deal with corrupted crabs and tried (and failed) to purify dark water.
All these are markers of the same point in time we’ve been putting the other seasonal spirits in — while the darkness was getting bad, but still before the explosion. This means they take place at the same time as the others.
I assume Abyss was around the same time as well, maybe later into the kingdom's descent since it seems extremely abandoned?
However, as Wasteland seasons, they are heavily influenced by the darkness.
and darkness isolates beings of light
Late but Thank you & everyone else who responded so much, I am having so much fun with this
💛
Abyss is in the ruins of a place that studied mantas and darkstone, so it's likely happening a while after darkstone became a field of research that anccestors would invest time and effort in !
And from what I see, they're possibly scavenging for those diamonds maybe as a sort of trade/currency?
Kind of like pirates searching for gold lol
The quest called these "ressources" iirc !
i had initially imagined Abyss as taking place after the collapse of everything, with how abandoned the refinery is, but it would make sense in times of war for resources and people to be redirected from production jobs to military ones - framing the Abyss crew as refugees/draft dodgers/renegades taking shelter in a closed-down factory whose workers are now soldiers would track i think
I will get you
counter-argument: darkstone production could be crucial to war if it was used for weapons or mechanisms (the doors of the temple)
but the question is if they were still capable of production, or if the refineries and pipelines maybe got damaged in the war and they needed the manpower for defense
During WW2, part of the reason the germans were so eager to seize northern france was for the coal mines in the flanders.
you're so right- maybe the treasure reef refinery was just one of many, not all of which were shut down? there's no direct evidence to support this but i can't imagine the entire supply of darkstone/power diamonds would be coming from one production line
There's mine carts in the treasure reef, maybe it was both a mine and a lab ?
FINALLY we reach the hardest season to timeline but also my favorite: Prophecy.
Prophecy is pretty clearly stated to be the origin story of the kingdom. Its masks are designed specifically to look ancient. With these two characteristics in mind, it’s easy to mistake it to be at the very beginning of the timeline; sometimes even centuries before the others.
But being at the beginning of the kingdom doesn’t mean it’s at the beginning of the civilization. Let me explain.
Before I get into this, I would like to mention that Prophecy is also isolated. This makes it impossible to timeline it using other spirits. It’s also about foretelling the future, meaning any events displayed on the murals can be explained with “oh those are prophecies”. This puts us in a very unique position, as it eliminates basically all the tools we have to compare its place in time accurately to the other seasons.
Except one, which, although it hasn’t been explained much yet, soon will be — and already has a bunch of details to talk about:
the animation teaser.
if the Leviathan was already present, which i assume it was since Cannoneer interacts with it, maybe the team working at Treasure Reef just. sealed it up as well as they could and evacuated, closing the facility?
What kind of fabric is the cloth in sky? Knowing what type would help us understand the age and how quickly it decomposes, allowing us to help with timeline stuff.
this is such good food for thought btw Catlem, i am avidly consuming your ideas as always <3
Unfortunately this is still very theorized, as we don’t have strictly confirmed tools yet, but it is my firmly held belief that some of the prophets’ students show up in the animation teaser
I personally think since the murals depict The Kings arrival, the cave must be, perhaps, as old as all of the elders
But ofcourse it could still be up and running during the kingdom's downfall as in the memories they're teaching students how to do some avatar stuff /j
Hold that thought because I’ll get back to you soon
I'll be gone for a bit but I'm excited to hear this ✌️
One of the inspos for Abyss was the type of movie with horror at sea, so some failed and abandoned lab project would fit.
Now, I like to believe the Leviathan always was like that (it also behaves like a normal predator would; easy prey ? bon appetit. prey hurts ? goodbye, as opposed to krills who just rush at you repeatedly even if it leaves them dazed for a while after) and they were testing on a giant beast of darkness. Maybe it's an elder of what krills were, or maybe it's something else entirely
but that's just arguing detail, it could be or not be the reason the facility has been vacated, maybe the sccholars simply left for the vault for refuge ?
Oooh. I always thought the double buns were a younger Laughing Light catcher from prairie. After failing the trial, they moved on.
YEAH you get me!! regardless of the origins of the Leviathan, if the original Treasure Reef workers felt like it was too much of a risk to keep working there, they could have locked everything down and evacuated to the Vault, leaving everything untouched until the Abyss crew came through, potentially having taken to the seas to avoid having to fight in the war, or having lost their homes because of it
BUT YOU KNOW WHO ELSE APPEARS IN THE TEASER? younger versions of ushering stargazer and rejecting voyager, two basegame isle spirits.
We know now that the cave of prophecies was at least in use during the same time as these younger basegame Isle spirits lived — a couple of decades before the other stories takes place, maybe, if we’re being generous. Not only that, but the prophecy students appear younger in the teaser than they do in game, implying both that they stuck around for a while and also that the prophecy spirit memories take place several years after the events of the trailer.
And now we get into what Cleobugg was talking about
Which is:
if Stargazer’s memory depicts One falling, and the storyline of Prophecy (and possibly the animation teaser as well!) is about them going through the trials and being chosen, this means that all of these events took place within the century — likely much less — before the disaster.
This also means that Sky was a kingdom for a very short period of their history.
when you mean younger, do you mean compared to the spirits we see in-game?
This was rly well broken down and therefore a pleasure to read, im rly impressed Salem
ohh now that im thinking about that my theory about the kid in the trailer being the first fallen star/sky kid might not be true 🤔
We do have a neat side note here! Candlemaker and stargazer both appear as adults in running wayfarer’s quest, when wayfarer was a kid. This suggests that Isle may have gone desolate earlier, with the spirits in that realm dying and petrifying much before the others, hence why they seem almost frozen in time.
This adds some extra years onto the time between the beginning of the kingdom segment and it’s fall. It depends on what you see the spirits in questions’ ages as, but my current most generous estimate is that One falling and the start of the kingdom was only about 25-50 years before the disaster.
If I had to guess it would be more along the lines of 25-35.
You’re probably right, actually! Unfortunately, we’re not absolutely sure yet, but it seems to be a very, very strong possibility.
That’s all I have for right now, thank you everyone for enabling my massive essay on why the tineline we see of Sky is much smaller than we tend to assume 💛💛💛 and thank you everyone for your compliments. They made my night
I wonder if it was something like the central light source of the kingdom weakening and not being able to reach the outer edges of the kingdom anymore
thus people from these places trying to travel and flee up towards the mountain
Something like… the Eden beam weakening? :scheming:
cannot overstate how impressed i always am by how well you can string this stuff together. i get lots of little bits and pieces, but the way you can put it all together into a narrative that actually makes sense and seems plausible is genuinely so cool, i love reading your dissertations when i start to feel like i'm losing the common threads between ideas 💚
im also confused about the timeline of isle as well, in the animation teaser/trailers (both the one uploaded by tgc and switch one) they seem to be travelling in an area filled with sand (the isle we are most familiar with) and an isle that looks like a grassy land. now im wondering if is it the same place? or different timelines (which doesn't make sense too much cuz we see the same or similar vehicle) im aware that the switch one might not be fully canon but idk about the one tgc uploaded
OUGH THANK YOU SO MUCH… horrible at phrasing responses to compliments but this makes me really happy
in wayfarer's memory there's a point where the landscape of isle transitions from sand to grass, so it's likely that as pollution grew over time the natural vegetation started to suffer!
ooh oki i will check that out again. tbh i need to revisit all spirits 😆 there's a lot of details you can miss if you're not paying attention
IM BACK AND MORE PROPHECY TIME
So prophecy kinda is like foreshadowing right? What if those murals were painted before the king even arrived? And the cave serves as a cultural spot kind of to all those who believe in the prophecy?
Personally I think that the Prophecy itself was a warning against the giant diamond in Eden but it was instead interpreted as “y’all how bout setting up a giant diamond in Eden?”
Yeah, probably! Although the prophecy came true, so I’d be shocked if anyone didn’t believe in it
I noticed recently that spirits don’t fly in Sky, only skykids do
I agree with you totally 💀
They were too excited about a "child of god light megabird whatever" that they forgot the part where they die in the end
But after the first stage of the prophecy came true, what were those classes they seemed to teach to the ancestors? And why were they significant to that holy cave?
I remember seeing one of the prophets described as a ‘trial guide’ once, I’d assume they were teaching ancestors how to get through the trials
Yeah I think they were teaching about their elements and about the trials
I think what we relive is also before they delivered the prophecy, and the idea of getting through the trials was to collect the lights to actually be able to bring the prophecy itself to fruition
I mostly seen it as us skykids are restoring the cave to its original state to discover the past, and the prophecy spirits were the last mentors to teach there before the downfall of the kingdom
The only reason I think that is that we go through the trials to get “blessings”, and after we do, the cave starts lighting itself up again, so I think that’s it’s either that the blessings we collect allow us to now interpret things we couldn’t before, or that they were used altogether to make a prophecy
Perhaps the cave was locked away due to the war? (From fear of people vandalizing the place due to them thinking "propaganda" or smthing)
I don’t think the war reached Isle personally, it seems mostly localized to wasteland, vault, and valley
also tossing in the idea that the trials themselves might be older than the prophecy - especially based on the idea that the prophecy was... prophesied, i guess, less than a century before One fell and began to fulfill it, the splash text of "Beware The Ancient Trials" makes them seem like something far older
Me neither, but chances couldn't have been taken right? Even ancestors that didn't seem to be part of the war could've went and destroyed all of those historical murals
It might have also been locked up due to it being considered highly sacred, or it just being an isolationist society
why would they, though? what purpose would that serve? /genq
Honestly I have something in my head but it's not wording
But during wartime I believe countries/armies did destroy the historical objects of other countries, or take religious cleansing for example
that's definitely true, i think the part i'm getting hung up on is that this wasn't a war between two opposing cultures, if that makes sense? that history belonged to both sides, so i'm struggling to see why either side would want to destroy it
Yeah I'm hung up on that part too, but I believe it's hinted there's two sides of the civil war that happened?
You could also make an argument that everything in Sky is ancient hence why it’s called that!
The trials do feel super Old to me so you’re probably right; prophecy and everything surrounding it is just a pain to timeline. I think you know me well enough to know I have thought about it so much
the war is widely thought to be ancestor vs ancestor, yeah - i think the common theory right now is that it was a question of industrialist progress vs environmental awareness. but since both groups would have come from the same wider communities and culture, i don't imagine something as significant to the history of their kingdom would be a target for either faction
I have a thought on prophecy but I’m having to recheck my philosophy books so it might take a while
i also noticed that the doors in cave of propechy holds flame to open unlike the other doors that are darkstone
Yeah! Isle’s temple doors do as well, it’s a really neat detail
You're right, and it becomes harder to defend my little theory lol
Since the murals were mostly about The King, perhaps one side was against The King? Not to call him a bad guy, but he does seem corrupt
I may be wrong so correct me if I am not cave of prophecies entrance is in isle and I believe this is the start of life like being born and that thing in there with the mask I think that’s the one that puts you through the trial to see if your heart is a as light as a father idk I just find it weird that it’s connected to isle
i wonder if there's a world before isle cuz we wake up on a shore right? what's beyond that ocean
Eden maybe?
there's a line where the sky meets the sea, it calls meeeeee /lyr
If Eden is death and isle is birth then maybe it’s eden back there NEVERMIND lmao you can’t see the mountain
Looking at the shrine maps, it seems home is in-between Isle and Prairie?
Wait nvm was looking at the wrong thing 💀
and i wonder what's this island at home space? did someone ever get to glitch theirselves there?
this is possible, though i will say - One was ultimately just a kid who got the pressure of guiding an entire civilization on their shoulders, not because of any great leadership skills or wisdom, but because they were shiny and fell out of the sky
they could have been corrupt, but i think it's more likely they were overwhelmed and making decisions based on incomplete information without fully knowing how their choices would ripple out and shape the course of history
I am like grasshopper and the wind barrier is car to me I have tried so many times to fly full speed through it and even swim through it
WAIT A DAMN MINUTE
Did anyone notice already the map is in the shape of.... A diamond???
yep
No can I get a pic lmao
Oh it is to
maybe the corruption started in the centre of the diamond cause it’s red in centre and top with that giant beam going up same as actual diamonds
sorry to interrupt, but when did the enchantment masks have this orange diamond ? am i just that unobservant
Santa?!?!
***Everywhere I go, it reminds me of him
*** /ref
isn't that an elder hair
the ancestors loooooove diamonds
Can I mention once again how Cackling Canoneer had a whole GIANT gun that shot arrows, and yet it seems the soldiers only used close combat weapons like swords and spears
ooh i noticed that but i assumed that was to catch fish (im not sure if abyss ancestors ate fish i haven't done the quests yet)
harpoons
Like I know in Seed of Hope's memory we see projectile arrows, but we never see any physicaly evidence of them having gun like objects
Now the question is, where did Cackling Canoneer get this harpoon? What crimes have they committed?
Cries for sky whale 🐋 ☁️ 😢
I just think it’s used for it’s intended use which is fishing
If it’s a large harpoon it’s used for whaling (I think it’s called whaling)
Sure, the harpoon intended purpose was probably used to catch fish
But man it could've definetely been used to snipe out an army
a naval weapon like a harpoon would likely have been harder to use in a land-based war, tbf
are the fishes light creatures too? wait do light creatures mean they are made of light?
Idk if they would have eaten fish because they are a creature of light unless it’s delicacy XD MAYBE THEY EAT MANTA NOO but honestly idk 🤷🏼
Maybe if it was in golden wasteland that seemed to be underwater where the ark is idk about the rest
Anxious angler's memory def shows they caught (and probably ate) fish 🐟
Wouldn’t it be really inefficient though? Like it can only hold one ammo slot, many harpoons have ropes to reel or back in with couldn’t be idea cuz the rope can just be cut. Even if carrying multiple spears the time to reload would take too long to keep up with battles imo, since sky seems to not use the trench method of war
You have a really good point, Tac! Thank you!
Maybe it was used for killing krill
given that the location named "battlefield" and the sites of conflicts we saw in Seed of Hope's memory and concert segment took place on land, and not even on a coast, i'm not sure how practical naval weapons would have been
For how tiny it is I doubt it would do much, unless you have a death wish to aim for the eye or somthing
Oh haha sorry I only though because of the forgotten ark and there would have had to be water for the boat to get there, I stil think maybe the harpoon was for killing krill
And now it makes me wonder how far the kingdom's technology came until its demise
no worries! it's all a little ambiguous, especially since we see boats meant for water and boats that fly
The ancestors had death wish when they built big diamond tbh maybe it was used forrrr I’m sorry I’m new to this
Tbh I think once again in Seed of Hope's memory, when the soldiers are carrying them to safety, they throw tiny harpoon/spears at a giant krill lol
Ah yeah good point I actually really love the flying boats my favourite is the one in wind paths the cute manta leading it around hehe idk if more then one manta has s on the end or not
i really like the manta-driven boat too, it shows that the Flight crew were looking for, and finding, sustainable alternatives to darkstone-powered technology
Well I didn’t think they where tiny XD I thought it was like a whaling harpoon
I personally see the building the diamond of them not aware it would explode, it just happened that it unfortunately did explode for a lot of possible reasons (rushed production, overload somhow ect)
Yeah that makes sense
I always considered the diamond got overheated, since all of these darkstones are originally blue, turning whiteish when activated
And red is a common colour for "hot ow"
why did they build the diamond?
Yeah exactly and idk why they need boats because they could have just ridden manta around maybe to carry more people, yeah that makes sense smaller manta so there is more room manta are like horses of the sky
that's the million-dollar question
we don't have a solid answer yet, though there are a handful of plausible ideas floating around
Also mixing in with the theory that skykids are made out of clay, perhaps the reason we get hurt around them is because of its heat? Clay hardens when exposed to heat, right?
im not very familiar with eden lore stuff
Like giant electricity I think
There’s a lot of possibilities, but a lot of people think it was to harness light energy. Some believe the beam we see from eden is natural and placed the diamond there to power the kingdom, but that’s pure speculation though
It’s very confusing haha
Also from one of the Shattering memories, the elders seem to get caught pretty close to the explosion
I wonder what they were trying to do? All there together
Something i think is a cool theory/speculation is eden was more of a sacred place where ancestors are instead instead of the capital of sky. The castle looks regal and I just get like important vibes from it, and orbit is just above it so a lot of ceremonies for ancestors passing could’ve happened there
As for the elder shard memory I’d like to imagine they knew the diamond would explode and try to stop it (which failed)
And I swear this isn’t bias but valley gives more capital vibes just from the sheer look, culture, and aesthetic of it
The whole lore surrounding the diamond is so confusing/frustrating
But so much fun to dissect
ooh yea i view eden as a sacred place too, in my head it's a place that the ancestors need to go thru to be reborn again
Also I definetely can agree on Valley being the capital
It's placed almost right in the center of all the other realms/kingdoms
Did my message send?
As well as it's the closest to Eden (not counting vault)
Yaya! And would be the easiest for anyone to travel distance wise, not to far away from any of the realms
sometimes skybot beans messages that it thinks are tripping its filters, i think i saw your message for a second before it got sniped
Another thing I want to see in future events/seasons is the architexture of different realms
I want to see how the ancestors lived
YES YES PLS
i don't have the brainpower to give the full explanation of this joke but there is a reason some of us call valley Sky Rome
Oooo yaya i agree! I love the houses but I’d love to see big structures in their prime or somthing to see what style they built
We see in the animation teaser that forest used stone houses, while the game also supports the theory that they made houses out of hollowed out tree trunks
Ultimate cottage core goals
i want to see more of the tools they used too
Valley seems to most definetely use houses made out of stone brick, probably to insulate them thru the winter
What I kind of want to see is the furniture they used too kinda? Like what technology did they have? Tvs? Ovens? Sinks?
Ah that makes sense haha
oh oh and what other materials did they use aside from stone?
i have a random head cannon to share: what if the flight guide and the light whisperer are siblings? they have kinda similar vibes and the light whisperer is the youngest of the flight spirits so they could be the guide's younger sibling.
Yeah! They definetely used wood and cloth tho
I really like that place in valley with the giant spinning gold rings idk what it’s called
that's the citadel, but also called the orrery by fans
I HAVE A HC ABOUT BEREFT VETERAN
they are the one who supplied either Stagehand or Performance Director the tongue twisters/riddles
My question is, where do the spirits (or who ever made the valley) get the cloth? Theres no animals other than butterflies, mantas, krills, and jelly fish (might of forgot some ehe)
Thanks for bringing up the citadel lol! That reminds me, I believe citadel uses bricks for its structure (though it's not far off from stones ig)
i always wondered how they passed down their stories from one generation to the next, the murals? stone tablets? did they discover how to make paper or parchment? it's the tiny details that i get excited about cuz it tells us how the people lived during that time
The giant rings I believe are there to create airflow because they are so large and heavy it looks like they are moving slow but the amount of air they could push out
There's definetely gotta be extinct animals from the ancestors time, I mean look at the masks they have! No way they came up with those animal masks without inspo
certain types of plants could be it
that or Woolly Mantas
Maybe some went extinct due to the harvesting of them?
Hmm, for the extinct idea, how did they become extinct? I kinda head canon that eden exploded and created a nuclear winter, but reading the lore chat idk anymore 💀
Trading I guess I can see valley having a high export in trades for their living conditions
They where killing the creatures of light for their light I’m pretty sure idk
Honestly I can see a "nuclear winter" happening after the explosion!
Outside of cannon I can see light sheep being a thing
maybe there’s a industry in valley for that
Owah thats a good idea, also, the cloth seems to be in gooe condition, (from what I see) so there needs to be a active source-
maybe they had cotton like plants before but bcus of the destruction it got wiped out of existence. the animation teaser also showed us that there are a lot flora that existed back then that we do not see now in game
Perhaps daylight instead of valley? I could see daylight as a farming town lmao
Yaya true prairie would better
this game needs sheep
but make the "winter" Summer instead
Nuclear Summer (if thats even a thing)
I’d love sheep in sky
Manta sheep can be real if you’re brave enough
I imagine if the game had sheep, it would look like Wooloo from pokemon 💀
pls it would be so cute
Sheep call
🫶
Wooly mantas is actually one of my February art prompts

floofie manta

Now I've noticed, we haven't gotten any farm animal-like masks yet
Cow, pig, horse, chicken
Fortune ox mask
I sense a Season of Agriculture
Yeah I was about to mention that! :p
I hope one day more trees are added to the game cause it kinda feels bare without them
yea i find it weird that we dont really have trees that look alive
I agree with you, like certainly we would atleast have little saplings!
are the areas in the trials actual places? i know we can have them show up on our maps but they don't look like anywhere else in the game
looks at days of bloom trees
Oh right those exists 🥲 lol
Likely not, but it’s unclear. Best guess is they exist in a similar space to elder dimensions
I've always seen the trials as a "headspace"
i always say them as simulations but in the mind due to the small room we always start in and the fact that outside things like capes and spells are inaccessible to us
to me they're kinda like similar to the spirits? it's there and they bloom but it feels like we're only seeing a memory. idk if i explained that well lol
^^ that's what i was thinking more of , especially considering we don't travel through any portals, we meditate before entering. i think we're actually sitting inside of the cave the entire time but are being influenced by the spirit
That's kind of what I've always seen too, cause the trees in forest don't have this blue glow to them
reminds me of the trees in Vault thrid flooe
Now that I think about it, very few plants exist in sky, theres water, soil, sun, (also where is the sun??? How is there sun light, like where is sky if the sun still shines? Is it another planet?) surely there should be plants, but nope!
there is a sun
but Eden also tends to be like a mini sun in some areas
maybe the diamond was a sun or something similar to that
You gotta imagine the plants are there cause it seems TGC doesnt like the idea of straying from their simplistic art🥲
or maybe the fallout of Eden and the resulting Storm is releasing so much energy at once that it is recreating the light of the sun
But now that I think of it, I don't believe Forest would have many plants
The ground is probably mushy and wet from the constant rain, not many things can flourish
Hmm, eden i feel like couldn’t be a sun, idk what skykids are made out of, but if eden had the power of a small sun, they would be burned before even getting close to it. (I think lol) so i think the world of sky is another planet, and sky kids are aliens 😄
I mean, considering the apocalypse, I can think of a good reason why there wouldn’t be much plants other than grass
i also read a theory on the Forest Rain
the rain isn’t actually water, but instead the Tears of the Lady of the Forest or smth
other than gross sifhsfs
plants are gross confirmed /j
i wonder if it also rained that much there back then. wait is the forest kind of like a rainforest then?
Real!!! The devs dmed me!!! /j
No, I don't think it was ever meant to hold that much rain which is why it's dead and depressing
sounds like me lol
I HATE the environment. all plants are awful and disgusting
do we need to have a talk? /jk
Hm, if the rain was tears, why would it hurt the sky-kids? Maybe they hate the feeling of hurt? But I don’t think that makes that much sense lol

i'll take that as a yes
maybe because the rain is too cold for our sky kids to handle?
Well since there's a popular theory that skykids are made out of clay, getting wet would cause clay to kind of... droop
oooh i like that theory
Then we would get hurt by snow in valley right? Snow = water but… Ooo clay theory sounds cool!
BUT THEN AGAIN
We can swim in water perfectly fine???
one thing is for certain: something about that rain is cold enough to make our lil moth shiver when first entering the locale
once clay has been baked and optionally glazed water doesn't squishify it
emotional tears are chalk full of hormones and bio stuff. it could be that?
oop wrong message
It cant be cold, i mean, valley of triumph. So maybe emotional tears for forest?
im sure that was meant for me lol
but who knows
the rain could also be like acid rain
Maybe the water is slightly polluted?
with the Dark water it makes sense
i personally think it's polluted rain
Ooo, maybe something happened to waste land, idk maybe valley was too cold so it didnt get effected, and then it went to forest?
Forest seems like it was heavily disparaged of its resources, and the effects of that probably seeped into their water source
i've seen some theories that forest folks made a lot of those darkstone stuff or thats the place where darkstone was found
I like to think the rain being tears is more metaphoric based on the poem than literal, with mining likely damaging water resources
Oh yeah, my partner actually made some theories that Teth's people were the first to find the power of darkstone! Then it got overrused
I'm surrounded by multiple mine companies (abandoned and still going) and yeah, mining can damage water resources really badly
yeaa then maybe golden wasteland was used to build factories to mass-produce them
I kind of believe that even though The King mightve never meant to be bad, he was the ringleader of it all
What he said, the elders went with it (....mostly)
maybe the rain correlates to the absence/capture of light creatures? because the rain stops when we summon the jellyfish and the mantas are freed in the temple
So The King probably had most to do with the overusage of darkstone, and industrializing wasteland
before everything went to Carp, I HC that the Forest largely focused on the Crafts like woodworking, wielding, etc whereas Valley focused heavily on the Fine Arts plus the Races
It definetely makes sense!
it was partly inspired by one of my brothers friends who is going into Industrial wielding
(btw, all the elders and ancestors in sky are agender, so you can use they/them for them all!
)
I’m late but a quick explanation of the “rain is Rain’s tears” idea because it’s a lot more complex and cooler than the discussion above did it justice.
It’s based on a theory of Vela’s that the elders are intricately tied with their realm and almost inseparable from it; as part of this, their emotions can influence and are often direct causes of the weather. For instance, the pollution in Wasteland implies prior corruption. In this way, the rain would be tied to Rain’s tears. You can even see them crying in their cutscene
To me these look like megabird feather idk if it has feathers but y’all talk about it alot (spoilers)
Hmm they look more like the ones seen on this chime here from the trailer, you can also see them in chime smiths character card too
And as much as I’d love more megabird content I doupt they would just casually appear in an ancestors info card
hey next time you folks go recollecting light after an eden run, try tallying how many WL are looking at/towards creatures of light. it's an interesting pattern!
idk if it means anything but yeah!
Do yall consider turrets to be cannon?
no, the residual structures bear no indication of such mechanisms
now, do i think the concept of turrets was reimagined as krill? yes. can i explain how that works? no, i haven't gotten that far
they function the same way tho
This was supposed to be a pun but it appears for once in my life I spelled It correctly-
canon = true to lore, mythos
cannon = weapon
but it was a good pun!
It’s against policies to unveil beta secrets my man
This is from the trailer posted in news (like I stated in my message)
it doesn’t look anything like the feathers you’re matching it up with. just states your knowledgable about current beta content. as a matter of fact , the feathers mentioned resemble more of that in flight areas themed items. sharing beta info is prohibited my man
Bro
policies are ment to abide by, especially being a beta player. don’t forget
This is posted outside beta though, (news) anything posted outside by devs or mods here is free range to discuss (im not even in beta)
I like the thought they amazon ordered it from Chimesmith
Oh sorry
I like Amazon
do we know what krill are and why they attack us?
I think the only thing we know about krill is that they're corrupted somehow
everything else is theory, with some of the more popular ones being that krill are darkstone corrupted light whales that just follow their instinct to absorb any light now, or a sort of warmachine created for hunting down light
ohhh fascinating!! thank you so much
With the shattering krill memory. I considered that the corruption came in the form of retaliation to whatever Krill used to be. Running on the krill they have a metallic(what feels like impenetrable body) so I wonder if the corruption spread in the form of "your body is too soft, this is how you're succumbing to extinction, let me gift you a body of armor" kinda deal
Like crabs. Corruption makes them aggressive. We've seen cases where the crabs could have been docile so the corruption utilized their "weakest" characteristic and turned it into an attack or self-preservation aspect
alright adding another tally to the "krill lore photo" whiteboard
i was looking around treasure reef earlier and it looks like the harpoon thingy is also darkstone operated?
it looks like they mined darkstone here too, the crabs are attracted to it

i forgot i wrote a small snippet of Iroh and Bloom Guide having a tea battle with FOrest Mama as the judge
iroh?
are there names to all the realm elders?
Elder Names by Alasdair#8513
The Elders (plus the king & prince) have names based off Hebrew letters from concept development that are no longer canon, though the fandom sometimes refers to them as such:
Isle – Daleth (ד)
Prairie – Ayin (ע)
Forest – Teth (ט)
Valley – Samekh (ס) (they share a name, though the fandom refers toas Sah and
as Mekh)
Wasteland – Tsadi (צ)
Vault – Lamed (ל)
Prince – Alef (א)
King – Resh (ר)Though it seems the devs refer to the Elders by the times of day their realms represent:
Isle – Dawn
Prairie – Day
Forest – Rain
Valley – Sunset
Wasteland – Dusk
Vault – Night
Eden – Storm
thank the stars that formatted correctly first try I would have exploded
I do want to note that Ktjn clarified that the Elders' names are Elder of the [Realm]. the time of day names are just internal, not canon (unfortunately) but some of us still use them
Me watching vela type with excitement cuz possible banger theory:
In the switch trailer, we can see Eden got its beam before the stars fell and a castle was built there, interesting.
But I want to point at where the beam is coming from on the last shot, in Isle
I like to think the elders' role was (and technically still is) to send the souls of the diseased to the stars, hence the beam coming out of the Isle temple here, and that comes out every temple whose elder's cutscene you just finished seeing in-game.
Imo, elders were part of the cycle as the ones sending the dead back to the Light so they may be reborn, but for some reason became unavailable (too busy ? trapped ? dead ?) and so the Eden beam ended up being the last one left (either because it wasn't bound to an elder, or because the eden elder was still able to do their job). Maybe light creatures already were migrating there and ancestors just followed them when their elders weren't there to ascend them, or maybe everyone started migrating en masse there...
OH MY GOD YEAH!! AND AFTER AN ELDER CUTSCENE A BEAM SHOOTS FROM THE TEMPLE TO REVEAL THEIR CONSTELLATION
In an old intro, the Eden star is the last to be covered by clouds too...
hmm, always thought that beams from the temples signified that Elders were ascending spirits. the Eden beam could then be light that is seemingly constantly ascending.
if there is an Eden Elder, they're gone but they're still doing their job to some capacity
They ran out of vacation days💔
YEAH EXACTLY
And remember how Ash said the King plays an important role but not in a way that we might think ?
Vela your mind!!!!!! I completely forgot about the beam from the temples and just assumed it’s a cutscene transition but this makes so much sence
"the King is inside the Eden diamond" is a theory older than I played the game, but let me offer this variant: The Eden Diamond is a more or less successful attempt at leaving a legacy that will continue to link the kingdom (or what remains of it) to the stars, as an elder would.
Me at this, it fits so well (IT DIDNT LOOP NOO)
It could be a possible desperation reason they made the diamond too, hence why it was so rushed and important
Maybe the elders were losing power as light became rarer and rarer, hence the urgency.
After all, our light offerings are what reawakens them.
I’m still thinking about this because I think it’s a super smart connection, especially paired with the theory of the beam originally being natural but slowly dying. It would also explain why Isle and Prairie were the ones most adamant against darkstone usage and exploitation; they’re the ones farthest away from the central light source (which would likely be the Eden beam) and so would be most affected
"and then we took the light from the wind. the behemoths that remained were only monuments to ourselves."
I mentioned it now because I wonder if you could connect that to what Vela is talking about
To add onto this; I know that after you do each elder cutscene, the beam reappears! Since it doesn’t stay, I would assume the thing causing the beam is ascending spirits, and the cutscenes were just made with the fact that you’d be visiting the elders to do that a lot, especially on your first runs.
Add onto that the fact that the Eden beam is consistently present
Nvm Alasdair already said this 😔
I wonder if it means…
The beam requires ascending spirits to occur
or
Ascending spirits requires the beam to occur
Because if it’s the second, you could build off this and say that’s why the diamond was necessary. You could even do the legacy idea that Vela mentioned in a second comment which reminds me a lot of the golden record Vault theory
OH ABOUT THAT
I don't have it on hand but there's a concept art where spirits ascending up Eden had their memories be stored here...
all this reminds me of sth I was thinking about earlier
thinking about all the possible options of what the skykids could be exactly
iirc it was mentioned that the skykids are somehow related to the ancestors, but the skykids and ancestors are implied/shown/confirmed to not be the same
so options I can think of are
- they're manifestations of pure light, somehow given will and purpose (perhaps by the wishes and pleas of the dying/dead ancestors for help)
- they're light creatures that have been harvested for the darkstone/eden diamond, freed and reformed (which would align with their limited communication and honks and chirps)
- actually reborn and reformed spirits of ancestors that once died, given a new life and chance
- aspects/fragments of this fabled corrupted king, seeping from the eden diamond, trying to set things right?
I'm sure there are some more options, but those are just some of my ideas
The intro murals in Isle, the golden record Vault theory, and this… the realization that ancestors and elders might have known they weren’t going to last long is heartbreaking. Especially when you compare it to seasons that might be the result of them trying to push back against that and survive, like Abyss, and even spirit memories where despite that weight, they’re happy and cheerful and enjoying themselves.. augh
Hmm the help menu for emotes call spirits "your ancestors" hence why I headcanon skykids are related to them; as for elders, a lightseeker stream taught us skykids will not grow up to be elders
this one
echoes of memories left in the mountain from souls travelling over the mountain
The unintelligible word is "over" I think !
I think the switch trailer canonicity is a bit debatable, so just in case I’ll check the animation teaser to see if I find anything, hold on
So what I found here is really interesting. Look; neither the temple nor Eden (whose beam but not silhouette would be visible from this angle) has a beam
perhaps Dawn wasn’t ascending spirits at that moment
That’s what I’d assume too. For temples, it seems the beam only appears when spirits get ascended
Switch trailer is straight up from TGC tho, not negating your idea it has a few details changed to look better but imo dismissing it as debatably canon is a bit unfair.
I’m not sure how else to phrase it sadly 😔 I agree it sounds a bit harsh but unfortunately, going on a tangent each time about how they might have thought more about how the kingdom actually looked in the past rather than making it pretty first and thinking about that later isn’t feasible everytime I talk about it
I've read your original message about it, I just agree to disagree on that.
If you have any ideas for better phrasing,I’d really appreciate them
That’s fair! I didn’t mean to derail your original theory conversation; I just thought it was interesting how Eden didn’t have a beam in this picture, which might help support what you’re saying (beam only came really late)
It's cool, I was about to leave for dinner anyway, it's just that I noticed some folks make really cool ideas but assume they're right just because they make sense, and unintentionally force that onto others. I think you could preface that with "I believe..." or "My theory is.." so that it's clear it comes from you ! /nm
I get you! I wasn’t really thinking at the time about perfect words for that, apologies! It has been edited
We’d have to wait for the animation project to come out and then compare it to the switch trailer to know for sure, so I think ultimately that making it clear I’m speculating like you mentioned is the best course of action here
I just recently realized it might be what puts off or confuses people that don't exclusively hang out here, because they assume we know more since we're chatting almost everyday here so it's easy to take us for our words, when between eachother there's an agreement it's all theories unless it's backed up by official stuff or dev messages.
I agree; I usually try my best to make it clear they’re theories, I was just distracted this time by prospect of Eden beam and unfortunately wasn’t paying a lot of attention 😔
It's cool, I understand. I gtg but I'm also eagerly waiting for the animation
I think a better way of phrasing it would be "the switch trailer makes some changes to the geography and looks of the kingdom to make it look prettier"
(Or if you want something shorter, "the switch trailer takes creative liberties with the geography")

Lorechat I trust in you most out of all servers I am in to make this decision as you are the wisest and most responsible people. Would you guys do me the honours of choosing my new second name? I'm not satisfied with Oscar anymore and I can't come up with any myself.

we got another one
they're just like me fr 😔😔😔
I am holding them gentle and also
becomes anxious now when someone is left by themselves
Mood
I don't remember flight/performance cards and Aurora/shattering are bad data points but was it always this obvious that the masks were masks
I should look at berefts card as well but it's really obvious in this one and I like that
I think so? I've skimmed through some of the cards and I think some do have their masks be more prominent in their mask-ness
names are personal, incredibly powerful monikers of the self. it will be how people address you, speak of you, see you. it encapsulates your identity in such a significant way that I wouldn't trust that honor with random blokes on the Internet.
at best, I suggest finding names for yourself and testing them out with people, online and off, having them address you as one or more of those you pick until some feel right. yes, you can poll people, but it is your name – you make the final decision and, frankly, most of the choices should be up to.
mysteries upon mysteries...
it might just be artist difference but it's intriguing regardless
these only have faces because that's all that would load on my slow data
im going to cry and sob
- Becomes anxious now when someone is left by themselves
the "now"... does that mean something happened in the vault that made them uneasy when they knew someone was by themselves,,,
Alasdair you wise old oak you, I'm asking you guys because it's only my second name!! :) I trust you all enough to not give me a silly name, plus, it's not permanent yet!!
still, that should ultimately be up to you, not us
OOPS SORRY FOR THE PING BTW!! and yes, I know, but I can't come up with something!! atleast some suggestions would be nice..?
how do i even begin to try to decipher and learn about the lore... i skipped alot while just collecting as many emotes as i can and also the spirits memories faded fast when trying to get them in time...
Most don't unless you're A. in Forest. Or B. You were just going really slow. Most timed Spirits give you plenty of time to complete them.
you can always go back and relive them again
not all spirits have a timer and many of those that do have it for a long period of time, plenty of time to observe. that's how I get my pictures
no i mean, i accidentally stood on the place a spirit was going to appear multiple times...
true but i can't see em all anymore, some just became black orbs which are hardly visible
Then honk to see where they'll go, don't stand right in the place they appear next time, and you'll have a better chance of seeing them.
oh the individual memories! I'm bad with those too I'll admit
i am also still a moth... started playing like 4,5 weeks ish ago i think
If you want to relive a Spirit you've already completed, just leave the area (like by going home) and come back. They're not a one and done type thing.
hm ok
Every single Spirit, base-game or Seasonal can be relived at any time.
teabrewer my beloved,,
Wait, is it just me or does the ancestor not have a mask??? Like, thags hid real face? Or is his mustache attached to a mask-
I would not be the one who knows that
I honestly like to think that spirits with moustaches have a slit in their mask where they can bring their moustache through and outside the mask
You could imply that for pronounced facial hair, they could either not have a half bottom to their masks or force their hair through slits like you said
Tbh it'd be pretty funny if they just glued a fake mustache to their masks
They take off their mask and there's just another 'stache underneath
Hisses at lore chat tea brewer is mine
Are we allowed to talk about the Season Of Remembrance spirit memories here yet?
no Mine
Fights you for it
You fools. Tea brewer has two hands /lh
The spirit memories themselves have not been released in Live yet so no. Now that we’re getting spirit character cards, we can talk about those details and speculate
Oh you're talking about memories not the characters
i dont wanna share anxiety mom >:((
That's what I thought! It's really hard to wait to talk about beta things lol 💔 I'm so excited
Guys guys calm down, we all know the anxiety mom is MY and not for sharing thank you thank you

How I want tea brewer to hold me
me and teabrewer (real)
Lorechat, I've made a decision. Manta Dad will now officially be known as Féliks Jonah!
More Belle posts coming soon in honour of teabrewer
False information and banned for spreading rumors
So these little ovals in the chest area right
Does anyone have theories on what it's significance is? I've always wanted to see others theories.
Ancestors and skykids have it both, are ancestors powered by light as well?
I believe they are powered by light yeah
sounds like jealousy
(pls know this is playful banter)
I’ve always regarded them as the spirits’ soul cores, what they demanifest into when they ascend or zip around.
For skykids, however, the hole in their chest is their flame. You’ll notice it disappears when you take out your red candle, which is also your flame.
(I know lol)
ok good bc so many people think im somehow being serious and like ???? how
Thats a nicely detailed way to explain it!
I always found it funny how it's so bright it can shine through thick clothing, I wonder if they can use it to blind their enemies?
Also neurodivergent people tend to take things literally, so please don't get angry at us for not understanding a joke! ❤️
Eyyy fellow neurodivergent
i'm one of those people so i get it, but even with the /joke tone tag they still think im being serious
i dont understand
Some people just don't get jokes sometimes :(
but moving on:
i love teabrewer so much i just want to hold
Teabrewer and bereft really deserve the world
Not everyone knows what the / at the end of messages means, could be why
i rly want to know the name of the one w/ the lil hat and the plushie

He looks like his name is little Timmy boy
the way y'all were literally talking about the possibility of spirits having parents and then-
im a little late but tea brewer is ashsjdjdjdjdjs
🤍
I don't know how to word this but, we're always calling ancestors "spirits" even in past tense, when they were still alive
Does that mean they're dead people? Or just kind of humans that are rebirthed from the dead?
Ancestors I assume is when their alive, spirits being they’re dead as we see the ones we help ascend in orbit
His name is Small Victorian Child wdym
Like how media calls dead people we see ghosts spirits ect if you see them even when they pass. When alive they’re just seen as people and human if that makes sence
Ohhh yeah that makes sense, English isn't my first language so I got a bit confused!
Now another question lol
I saw lorechat recently talking about the beam coming from Eden helps the spirits to ascend. why would the ancestors need to "ascend''? For what purpose?
Was ascending kind of like a funeral????
To return to the Light
Yes but, what do you think would be it's reason? I'm seeing it as a purity thing now that I think of it
maybe in a more ceremony way that is bitter sweet, could be a funeral but not as somber and grim.
(Since spirits are shown to come back down to the kingdom at will, so they could visit their loved ones)
I’d see orbit as the afterlife since that’s were all spirits go, final resting place for souls to go than a purity thing
There’s a thought that light wants to connect and bond with itself. Spirits, free of their mortal bodies, now return to the light not only to continue the light cycle but, perhaps, so they wouldn’t be lost to darkness
I see it has nothing to die with purity, it is just light returning to light so it can be made anew or remembered.
Oooh those are really good explanations!! Thank you both!
someone can tell me if invisible cape is avalaible ?
It’s a beta exclusive item, better to ask in #beta-discussion
and there are no animation for reaching new flight lvl with 200 wings ?
No clue, better to ask that in #questions-and-help
its a spoiler thats why im not sure that question will be welcome as you said
Lorechat is for discussing the story and history of the game, hence we discuss spoilers here. #questions-and-help is for game mechanics and such
200 wings wouldn’t be a spoiler though since it’s in the game and all, you can always use spoiler tags too “||”
Y'all really saw potential grandparental/auntie/uncle figures and were like "MY FAMILY NOW"
I see a lot of Sky folks on Tumblr who seem to believe that Dawn elder raised Eden Elder. Is there anything to support this theory?
(I love the Sky Tumblr community but their lore theories don't seem particularly rooted in game content)
Unfortunately the only thing available for that is vague concert art of isle knowing the eden elder somhow (even I’m not sure how much there is but it’s very small). Other than that there’s nothing else, I’d consider that dynamic a fannon interpretation (as cute as it is)
There’s this PowerPoint slide from a livestream with a concept character description of Dawn that says Dawn raised One/Eden Elder. As tac said, that’s all there is to it. Knowing Tumblr, they ran wild with that dynamic for their own headcanons and ficverses
Oo i didn’t know this I just assumed it was concept art only
But yeah it’s just seen in concept, not truly ingame anywhere
That tracks with my experience on Tumblr haha. I love them but they love their fanon 😂
Concept art ≠ canon, though many use it to supplement their theories and headcanon
Yaya, like hell i have my elder hand magic headcannon and the twins being kids when they fell, and the egg horrors but I make sure to express that’s pure headcannon in my verse
Sorry the fact isles concept charater was gonna be based off Dumbledore and Jiminy cricket oughhh
.......The egg horrors? 😢
I don't think I wanna know actually
Speaking of the valley elders, I wonder if the people (and elders) of sky were confused when they got two new elders/fallen stars instead of just one 💀
Seems they were planning to frame Dawn in the old mentor trope
Oh I believe that 100% I can see the debate on it stretching on for thousands of years on why it would be the case
🧚🏽♀️
Perhaps they thought maybe one of the twins was supposed to rule over a different piece of land, but ultimately they stuck together
